Missed Call
Tumblr media
Kelly Severide x reader
745 words
Written for @whumpcember, no warnings.
She woke from a dead sleep to an obnoxious alarm. Blindly smacking the top of her night stand, she searched for her clock. After two hits, the sound droned on. She finally realized that was not her alarm clock.
That was the fire alarm.
Suddenly, she registered the smell of smoke in the air. She was out of bed seconds later. Grabbing her phone and robe, she opened her bedroom door and was greeted with even more smoke.
She was thankful she didn't see any flames. She moved to the apartment door and felt the door with the back of her hand. When it was cool to the touch, she yanked it open and looked out into the hallway.
There were huge flames engulfing the hallway between her doorway and the stairs. She was trapped.
Tears welled up in her eyes and she tried not to panic. She closed the door and went back toward her room, away from the smoke. SItting on the floor at the foot of the bed, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and unlocked it with shaky fingers.
She pulled up Kelly’s contact and pressed the call button. As it rang, it occurred to her that she probably should have called 9-1-1 first. The call rolled over to his voicemail and she prayed that it was because he was on his way here. She hung up and called 9-1-1 then explained that there was a fire and the apartment number she was trapped in.
As she waited, more and more smoke crawled under the door. Her eyes burned and she started to cough harshly.
Just as she started to feel lightheaded and short of breath the bedroom door swung open. “Y/N!”
“K-Kelly,” she coughed again. “You're here.”
He knelt down beside her. “Of course I'm here. I gotcha. Can you walk?”
She nodded and allowed him to help pull her to her feet. She coughed yet again and swayed on her feet. “Whoa. Maybe not.”
Kelly picked her up easily. He quickly made his way out of the building with her and then set her on the stretcher. She grabbed Kelly’s hand and squeezed.
Sylvie placed an oxygen mask over her face as Violet pushed her towards the ambo. Kelly walked beside them as the loaded her up.
As Kelly started to climb into the back of the ambo, he looked back and spotted Boden. Boden only nodded his acknowledgment that Kelly was riding along to the hospital.
She maintained her death grip on Kelly’s hand all the way there and on the way into the ED. He tried to let go as they pushed her into the treatment room. “No. Stay with me. Please.” Her momentary panic sent her into a coughing fit.
He ran a hand over her head. “Okay, I'm right here. Just breathe.”
Crockett came in a moment later. “How’re we doing this evening?”
She rolled her eyes as he pulled out his stethoscope. “Peachy. Just peachy.”
“Can you try to take a deep breath for me?” Crockett asked.
She obliged, managing two before a cough.
Crockett turned to April. “Can you get a chest x-ray, CBC, and a carboxyhemoglobin. Then start a neb treatment with albuterol.” She nodded in acknowledgment. “Alright, guys,” he turned back to her and Kelly, “I'm going to run some tests and I'll be back shortly.”
“Thanks,” said Kelly.
Half an hour later, she had finished the breathing treatment and was starting to feel a bit better. Crockett came back and repeated his exam.
“Everything looks okay but we are going to keep you at least until tomorrow just to make sure. Sound like a plan?”
“I mean, I would rather sleep in my own bed,” she joked. “But I think I can survive one night.”
A short while later, they had her settled into her own room and Kelly had settled into the seat beside her bed. He pulled his phone out to check messages and let everyone know how she was doing.
“I missed a call from you.”
Glancing over at him, she nodded. “Uh, yeah. I might have called you before 9-1-1. I panicked and I just wanted you to come. I'm so glad you found me.”
“I will always find you.” He kissed her forehead. “I'm just glad you're okay. I swear I about had a heart attack when I heard that address over the intercom.”
“Let's never do this again.” She laughed.
“Deal.”

Right in front of you | Leslie Shay
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Prompt: "Is that a hickey?" Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 1k
You loved to cook at the firehouse around the corner, on your days off from the family owned restaurant you worked at. Besides loving to cook, it was also a way for you to see your girlfriend when she was on shift. The environment at 51 was also not bad, you loved being around the people that Shay called her family, even though most of them didn’t know you and Shay were a thing. The two of you didn’t mind people knowing, you just didn’t want to make telling people such a big deal. Severide and Dawson knew for sure as they were her best friends, and maybe some other people had guessed and just never mentioned it. There were however also a few people that were definitely still clueless, like Cruz and Otis, as they were about to prove to you once again, you realized when you saw them walk in with their eyes focussed on you.
“Good morning boys, how was the call?” You ask as you put some scrambled eggs and bacon on a plate for each of them. Cruz was quick to give you an answer, priding himself on saving the day. “I rescued an old lady from her house before it was engulfed in flames.” Otis quickly chimes in, “Not before I located her and told you where to find her.” It was adorable how hard they were trying.  “Sounds like a great start to the day, then.” You smile.
You had been coming to prepare food at the station for a few months now. When Shay had breakfast duty one day she asked if you could prepare breakfast for take out at the restaurant, after she relayed the many compliments the team gave to the food, you had suggested coming over to cook breakfast in the firehouse once a week, much to Shay and the team's liking.
Not a day at the firehouse went by without Cruz and Otis trying to flirt with you. Not responding to their flirts or not showing the same interests back didn't stop them from trying every time, though. You had mentioned it to Shay after the first time it happened, wanting to be open about it. She just laughed at their antics with you, before she pecked your lips and told you, “You just tell them off or tell them about us if it gets annoying, okay?” So far, you had just found it funny, and decided to see how long they were going to keep this up, still not in any way giving them a signal that you were interested in them, of course.
You were still making scrambled eggs when Shay and Dawson got back from their call. They walked right up to you for their food, a cup of coffee, and of course they started a conversation with you. When they sat down with the rest of the team Shay overheard Cruz and Otis whispering amongst themselves. “We should start a bet on who will be able to get y/n to go on a date with them first.” She exchanges a look with Dawson, both of them working hard on keeping their laughter in. Shay, like you, thought their antics were hilarious, so she didn't stop them, unless you would get uncomfortable by it.
Shay joins the conversation of their other teammates. She gets tired of her hair in her face so she puts her hair up in a quick messy bun. “Wow, Shay, is that a hickey?” Mills gasps. Dawson turns Shay's head her way so she can see for herself. “Sure looks like a hickey, Mills, never seen one before?” The brunette jokes. The rest of the team starts bombarding your girlfriend with questions, you look over to the group as it starts quite the commotion. “Okay, okay, calm down. You all get one question.” Shay says, knowing these people well enough to know they were going to drop it.
Capp starts off the questioning round. “Is she hot?” He immediately gets a shove to the shoulder by Tony, “Was that seriously the best you could do?” After he shrugs, Shay answers, “Yes, she's very hot.” Mills goes next, “One night stand?” She shakes her head, “No.” The team shares a look before Casey asks the next question, “Does Severide know who it is then?” Severide answers that one, letting the team know that he does. Otis decides to ask the next question, “Do we know her?” Shay noticed that you were walking towards the table with your own plate of food. “Yes, you do.” She says. You can see their brains working overtime, and have to try to hold in your laugh, as you sit down besides Shay.
You share a look with Shay, letting her know that however she wants to handle this, it is okay with you. She smiles and puts her arm over the back of your chair. “It's really not that hard to think of a person that you all know.” She says, pulling their eyes back to her. The arm on your chair makes its way to your side, as she pulls you closer to her. “She's literally sitting right in front of you.” After finishing her sentence she places a kiss on your forehead and keeps holding you close. Most of the reactions to the news were comments along the lines of that’s great, congratulations, or you’ve got to keep this one around followed by Mouch pointing to the food and then giving a thumbs up. Of course, those reactions were all great, however, your favorite reactions were those of Cruz and Otis. Their eyes widened when they realized they had been flirting with Shay’s girlfriend for weeks.
The newly found information made the team quickly forget about the hickey that started the conversation, as the team was happy to see Shay so happy with you. They continued asking you both questions, how did you meet? and how long have you been together? until the alarm rang and all companies were being called to a scene. Shay kisses you before getting up, “Thank you for breakfast, baby.”

Work and Play - Kelly Severide x Reader
Tumblr media
"I got a present for you."
You look up and smile as Kelly handed you the parcel.
"You shouldn't have." You grinned. "Thank you Kel."
Kelly grins.
"Anything for you honey." He leans forward and kisses you on the cheek. "Go on." His eyes go on the parcel. "Open it."
You eagerly rip off the wrapping shredding it to bits. You then remove the lid.
You pause the lid still in your hand. Your smile turns into a frown. Your brows furrow as you put the lid down and scoop out of your present.
"Kel?"
He smiles.
"You like it?"
You raise the present.
"It's your jacket?"
"Turnout coat." He corrected you.
Your face screws up as you examine the item of clothing in your hands.
"But why?" You asked.
"The Chief ordered us a new batch he thought we all needed a freshen up." He shrugs. "I have to admit it's had it's days." He gestures at the worn out uniform. He then sighs. "We been to Hell and back." He rubs the coat with an affectionate manner. "This can tell some stories." A fond expression went across his face. "I wanted to share those stories with you."
"What like have it on display?"
He smiles.
"You are on the right track."
Your frown deepens as he takes the coat from you.
"But you will be the one who will display it."
He gives you a smirk. Your eyes widen with you realized what he meant.
"Oh..."
"Oh." He huffed a laugh. "That's all you can say?"
"Umm."
"Speechless huh?" He again laughed. "I'm glad I can still surprise you after all this time."
"You certainly have surprised me." Your eyes go on the coat. "You want me to wear that while we..."
"Make love to both my girl and my job." He again smirked. His face turned serious when you continued to frown. "But we don't have to." He quickly says. "It's entirely up to you I just...well I thought..."
His cheeks turned pink. You found yourself laughing at his reaction. He is cute when he is embarrassed.
"Babe." You reach out and wrap your arms around his. "Yes...Yes! Let's do it."
Excitement immediately appears on his face.
"Well then..." He nods to the other room. "You better get ready."
"And what will you be doing?"
"I'll be right here. Waiting for you."
You roll your eyes.
"Of course it's me who has to put the extra effort in."
"Oh don't worry." His eyes sparkle with mischief. "I'll be working just as hard." His hand rests on your thigh. "Trust me."
Your breath picks up as he looks at you with an intense gaze. That smirk of his remained on his face. Not wanting to wait any longer you grab the coat and run into the bathroom.
Kelly sat on the bed and waited for you.
Five minutes later you step out. You heard a sharp intake of breath as you closed the door behind you. You turn round and face your boyfriend.
Kelly slowly stands up from the bed. He walks towards you. He stops and eyes you up and down studying every part of you. He then reaches out and places his hand on your chest.
"It suits you." He says his voice awe.
"Do you think I have the potential?" You asked as Kelly ran his hands down to your body.
"To be a firefighter?" He shrugs. "I don't know."
"You just said this suits me."
"Very true." His hands stop at your waist. "But can you withstand the heat?"
You look up at him and give him a devilish smirk.
"I guess we'll have to find out."
Matching your smirk Kelly suddenly picks you up. You let out a squeal as he raised you into the air. He then places you over his shoulders.
"This is a fireman's carry." He explained.
As he starts walking you gasp.
"Kel!"
"Gotta learn the basics sweetheart." He paused at the bed. "Now next part you gotta be extra gentle." Kelly carefully lies you down on the bed. "Like that."
You wriggle on the bed to get yourself comfortable. You then froze when his hand went on your leg.
"Yeah about that. I'm gonna need you to turn over."
You raised a questioning brow at him.
"I wanna see my name on your back." He replied his voice getting husky. When you continued to stare at him he then sighed. "Pretty please."
You smile.
"Okay."
You turn on to your stomach. You then became tense as you felt him climb on to the bed. He sits inbetween your legs and starts to run his fingers along the letters. You felt his fingers trailing each letter on your back.
"You know what this says?" He asks.
"Your name." You answered.
"And what is my name?" He asked his voice barely above a whisper.
"Kelly."
"And surname?"
"Severide."
He nods and moves closer.
"That will be your name one day."
You gasp as those words hit you. You and Kelly have never really spoken about marriage before. What he said was that a hint on what was to come? An insight into their future together?
Mrs Y/N Severide.
You repeated the name over and over in your head.
It sounds perfect.
Judging from the smile on Kelly's lips and the wishful look in his eyes you knew he was thinking the same.
You turn your head round when you heard him coming towards you. You lock your lips with his and kiss him. The kiss started out soft at first then it became more heated and passionate. He poured his love for you into that kiss.
"God Y/N." He mumbled into the kiss.
He pushes against you. His hand goes into the coat and grasps your breasts. He fondled your breast. He squeezed your already hard nipples causing you to moan.
Kelly kissed you and nibbled at your earlope. You giggled as he sent a trail of kisses down your collarbone.
The giggling soon vanished when you felt him caressing your ass. He leans towards your ear.
"I wanna fuck you with my name on full display." He growled.
His voice sent a wave of goosebumps through you.
"So you know what that means." He added.
You nod.
"I do."
"If you want me to stop I will stop okay?"
"I know."
"You remember the password?"
You again nod.
"Wildflower."
He smiles.
"That's right."
He gives you a quick peck on the lips and grins at you. Then he goes back and positions himself in front of your entrance.
A loud gasp escapes your lips as you felt him go inside you. He completely stretched you and touched places you didn't even know existed from this angle.
"You okay Y/N?" Kelly asked.
"Never felt better." You replied your voice shaky with both nerves and excitement.
He chuckled at your response.
Then he went further inside you.
At first Kelly started off slow but eventually he picks up the pace and starts to thrust you hard.
"Fuck!" You cursed out loud.
Another chuckle came from him.
You didn't have to see his face to know he is being smug right now.
Kelly continued to pound into you. His cock pushed into you hard and fast making you cry and groan with pleasure. You begged him to keep going to keep making you have these sensations that currently went through your body. The sudden adrenaline made you feel alive.
It was exhilarating!
Kelly's lips are back on your ear. He sucked on the earlope and pulled hard at it. A whine escapes you as he bites down on your neck. Seeing you in his coat has made him possessive all of a sudden. He wanted to claim you here and now in his coat. Make you his.
He increased his hold on you and moaned your name. He is hungry for you. Feral.
You found that so fucking hot.
"Fuck Y/N." He cursed.
That made you weak to your knees.
You grip the sheets tight until your knuckles started to turn white. You start to feel that familiar fire at the bottom of your belly. You knew you are close.
"Kel...Kel..." You panted his name. "I'm close I'm...Ahhh!"
You pushed your ass against him. The need to let go started to consume you.
Kelly brushes his lips against the back of your neck and nods.
"Do it."
You didn't need to be told twice.
A shudder went through your body as you let it all out. Once it was all out you then collapse on to the bed.
Kelly grits his teeth as he too let it all out. He clenched his jaw as the cum spilled all over the sheets. He again cursed then he drops down beside you and sighs heavily.
"Ah man." He said his voice breathless.
You turn on to your back and stare at the ceiling. Your mind is in a blissful daze. You felt yourself coming back to reality when his hand goes on yours. You hold his hand.
"Damm." You spoke after several minutes. "Just wow."
"Tell me about it." He replied.
You sit up and shrug off his coat. You saw the stains of cum on the material. You then look at your boyfriend.
"Well that's another story to add to the list."
He laughs and takes the coat.
"You really been through it huh?"
He waits almost like he expected the coat to respond but of course it didn't.
Your hands land back on his. Both of you are now touching the coat. You then nod.
"Work and play a perfect balance. "
He raises an eyebrow.
"Work and play?"
"Uniform representing the work, play representing us. Together it works well."
"Too well by the look of it." He said with amusement.
You both give each other a knowing look.
"I do like man in uniform." You suddenly say.
Both of his eyebrows shoot up at that.
"I like it very much." You added with a smirk.
He huffed an amused smile.
"I guess that means I'm wearing the coat next time."
"Always take turns they say." You again smirked.
He laughs. After a minute he said.
"So taking turns it is?"
"Yeb."
He then nods.
"Work and play?"
You respond with a grin.
"Work and play."
You both then sealed the deal with a kiss.
The End

[“You’re the worst type of distraction, you know?” ]
Matt was probably the most supportive boyfriend you had ever had. He’s had your back since your first day at 51. He wasn’t a lieutenant yet but he still had enough pull at the house that he was able to get some asshole off your back in the first hour.
And since then he’s been at your side. You were a paramedic, so it wasn’t like the crush that had grown between you two was against the rules. And you didn’t even get together for… a while. For lack of a better word. But once you guys were, it was the strongest bond anyone had seen.
Nothing but loyalty, trust and support. Especially now. You’d had enough of being a paramedic. Not knowing what happened to patients after you brought them in. Not being able to use the copious amount of medical knowledge you had in the field. All of it was so frustrating.
So you decided to go to actual medical school. Which was going well. No you weren’t the top of your class but you were pretty high in the ranks. Half of the younger students ignored the embarrassment they put on themselves to ask for your help, knowing that as a paramedic you must have known a fair amount of stuff.
Which you did. But that wasn’t without the excessive cramming you did in between shifts. Like right now. Matt had been asleep for a few hours by now, expecting you to join him by the time it hit midnight.
It was 2:30 in the morning now.
And even though you knew you should go to bed, you couldn’t. Not when you still didn’t know what the hell to look for on an MRI. “Baby, why are you still awake?” Matt’s groggy voice was followed by the scuffle of his feet across the floor, making their way down the hallway.
You glanced over at him, a pen tucked behind your ear and hair tied up loosely. It was neat before but strands were slowly falling out of it the more you tilted and turned your head. His voice made you jump slightly, eyes too focused on some highlighted words in your textbook.
“Huh?” He sat on the couch behind you, gesturing to the skewed papers. “Oh, studying. Go back to sleep,” You gave him a soft smile, feeling his arms go around your shoulders, pulling you towards him.
Matt placed a kiss to the top of your head, “Come to bed with me,” He muttered, his hands sliding down your arms to push a different pen from your hand, grabbing it in his. You laughed softly, feeling him kiss from your cheek to your jaw.
Lightly you hummed, giving way to him, “You are the worst type of distraction you know that?” You muttered, twisting your hand to hold his. Matt nodded faintly, leaning more to kiss your shoulder.
“I know, so let me distract you more, in bed, and you can pick this back up tomorrow. When you’re more rested, and relaxed,” He slid his other hand over your shoulder, squeezing softly. It was damn near impossible to say no to him. Actually, completely impossible.
Matt was addicting. His touch, his words. Everything. He always has been. The first kiss you ever had sparked something deep inside you and since then it was like you were insatiable when it came to him.
Being at work was hard enough to control yourself, and his office only went uninterrupted for so long before someone knocked on his door so quickies were nearly off the table. Nearly. But at home, and when he was lazily kissing at your neck like he was now?
How could you even imagine declining his sweet offer?
You shifted onto your knees, turning to face him, pressing your lips to his. Matt’s hands abandoned yours, instead swooping around your waist, gently holding onto you. “That a yes?” He questioned smugly, already knowing the answer. He was well aware of the pull he had over you.
It was balanced perfectly, your presence having the same effect on the lieutenant as he on you. You hummed softly, pushing yourself up and off the floor, not without leaning forward to give him another firm kiss.
Moments like this made you thankful he was the type to only sleep in pajama pants, his chest bare for you to run your hands over. “Mhm,” Now impatient, you grabbed his hand, pulling him up, feeling him bump into your back as he followed you back into your bedroom, textbook and studies at the back of your mind.
You turned back to him the second you heard the door click behind you, hands finding the back of his neck to pull him into a kiss. Any sleepiness that was in his body when he woke up was now gone, completely replaced with you, your lips and your body.
“You can’t just,” You firmly kissed him, “Come out there,” Another kiss. “And distract me.” And another. Slipping words in between them. Matt’s hands on your hips pulling you closer.
He reciprocated each kiss, his tongue fighting to slip into your mouth each time, slowly he pulled away, not caring about the line of spit that connected your mouths. “Seems I can though, doesn’t it?” His cocky words driven by the horniness that was clouding his mind, the ever growing bulge in his pants pushing the sarcastic side out of him.
Usually you were able to wrangle him in, get things done but when he started talking back? That’s when you knew to just let him do his thing. Cause damn was he good at it. “Is that so Lieutenant Casey?” You ticked an eyebrow up, overly softly gazing up at the blonde man.
Matt nodded, your tone catching his breath, “Mhm,” He nudged you back, slowly getting you to the end of the bed. “Cause look where you are,” His lips pressed to the bottom of your neck, “With,” Matt nipped right below your ear, “Me.” His breath sent a chill down your spine.
You closed your eyes, tilting your head to the side, letting the man kiss back down your neck. His hands slid up your sides, under your shirt and pulled it off. Matt turned you, sitting on the edge of the bed and pulling you onto his lap.
Slowly your hands went over his shoulders, wrapping your legs around his waist. His arms wrapped around you, leaning up to catch your lips again, pulling you into a deep kiss. It was slow but heated, all of the lust and passion wrapped into each twist of your lips together.
Each brush of your tongue against his made him grow more and more, grinding his hips up into yours. “You can take my clothes off you know,” You muttered into the break he took to catch his breath. Matt’s eyes found yours, loosening the grip on you to lean back onto his palms.
“Or you can do it for me,” He mumbled, eyes dragging across your bare chest and the pajama pants you had put on hours ago. Your cheeks burned as you lifted from his lap, making a show of pushing them off, going to return to your spot when he held his hand out in expectancy.
You tilted your head slightly, Matt raising his eyebrows at the floral underwear you still wore. Oh. With a slight smirk you pulled them off, tossing them to the side, accepting Matt’s grasp as he brought you back towards him.
“That’s my baby girl,” He muttered, his hand going to your hair while his other gripped your hip, rocking up against you. Lightly you moaned, head leaning back as he did it again. His bulge rubbed right against your clit, making you pull your lip between your teeth.
Matt wanted you to beg. You knew that and you wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of it. So instead, you leaned forward, kissing along his collarbone. Aka his hot spot that always, always did the job in getting you what you want.
And it did. As you sucked a mark into the spot just above his collarbone he stood, his arms tightly around you before he gently placed you on the bed, standing back up to pull the rest of his clothes off. In seconds he was back over you, his hand on your cheek.
“You want me to get you ready or do you think you can handle it?” Matt asked softly, his other palm pressing over your chest sensibly, just lightly running his thumb over your nipple as he spoke. You couldn’t wait any longer than you already were so, even though you weren’t sure you could, you nodded.
“I can handle it,” You put a hand on the side of his neck, holding onto him as he nodded, slotting himself between your legs.
Even when you’d done this million times, the warmth of Matt’s skin always made you twist and turn, the anticipation of feeling him grew like a hot air balloon in your stomach. “Okay, tell me to stop if it hurts too much.” Even in his lust filled mindset his first thought was always you.
No matter what, Matt did what he could to make sure you were having as good of a time as he was. So his eyes trained on your face as he pushed in, soothingly running his thumb across your cheek as your face screwed up.
Matt wasn’t big by most means but he was big enough to stretch you out, sending a burning sensation through your thighs every time he entered you. The pain never lasted long, usually subsiding within the first few seconds. But that was also after he’d already fingered you.
This was probably the first time he went in without the foreplay and honestly, you might have regretted it a smidge but the second the pain subsided the doubt went out the window and a moan left your lips.
“You alright?” He asked softly, yet to move his hips.
“Mhm,” As soon as you nodded Matt pulled back, slowly rolling his hips back into you. Your eyes were still squeezed shut but as your body loosened, he continued to move. With Matt it was always, well, at least usually, sensual. He liked taking his time.
Liked moving that one way that had your toes curling as you tightened your legs around him. And this was no different. Strategically he thrust into you. His hands grabbed your hips, pulling them as close as he could get as he leaned down to kiss you.
His lips always felt amazing, even more so when he was deep in you and hitting every spot perfectly. It was like his kisses could coax an orgasm out of you the same way his tongue around your clit could.
Something about Matthew Casey was just so perfect that he molded perfectly to you every time, every night. Your hands grasping his face tightly pushed his movements to grow faster, losing himself in the heat of your body, wet skin slapping together roughly as each moan went right to where you two were connected.
“God I love you,” He muttered roughly into your ear before biting at your lobe, his eyes fluttering shut. Matt was trying his hardest not to cum yet, making sure you were first was also something he always did. Very gentlemanly, of course.
Your head went back as he spoke, your eyes darting across his blissed out face. “I love you,” All of your emotions managed to come out when you were together, and this was no different. The serotonin or dopamine or whatever it was that spilled into your brain was always met with Matt’s touch and love.
Matt’s hand slid between your legs, slowly rubbing at your clit the opposite of his thrusts, relishing in the way his name slid off your tongue at the newly added sensation. “I love you so much. My girl,” He spoke, knowing his loving words and tone always made your stomach pull into knots. “Gonna be with me forever, hm? Always with me. Gonna get married,” His fingers sped up slightly as you gazed up at him, eyes locking.
“Gonna have my babies. Have a family. Always going to be mine, huh princess?” His last couple of thrusts sent you overboard, eyes failing to stay on his as they squeezed shut, backing lifting off the bed as you saw stars.
Matt took the opportunity to wrap his other arm around you, fingers slowing until they stopped, allowing himself to focus on working you through your own high and finally releasing inside of you. His chest rose and fell quickly, gently pulling himself out and off of you as your hand trailed up his arm and to his face.
“You better make good on those promises.” You muttered, stroking a thumb across his face. Matt tilted his head slightly, mind clouded by his orgasm, all he could think about was you.
Softly he hummed and you smiled softly, keeping your eyes on him. “Marrying me.” He leaned down, catching your lips in his once more, slowly moving against them.
"I plan to."

Hello sweet pie, I couldn't resist, after rereading your fics I now have to send you a request of mine. If you're not up for it just let me know, no harm done =) my obsession for Chicago MedFirePd is currently on we again awake and raging in my head, so I've got a Kelly Severide. As a freaking simp for protective Kelly it's an angsty fic with drama, hurt and hopefully a fluffy happy ending =)
Kelly has a new neighbor and is instantly taken aback when he sees her for the frist time. She's struggling with moving boxes in her new apartment and clearly is out of breath (she has a heart failure and usually isn't allowed to stress herself out too much, so moving in is taking a huge toll on her). As a charmer he is, hee helps her with moving all her belongings into her apartment, which happens to be exactly next to Kelly's. She's the total opposite of Kelly: shy, cute and graceful and gets easily flustered by Kelly's charming flirting. Over the time they very close friends. Often cook together or having movie nights at each other's apartments. She thinks he's out of her league so she never thought of making a move. He is hesitant to make a move, cause he thinks she's way too good for him. So both of them suppress their feelings for each other. Maybe she also knows his colleagues and he often brings her to Molly's when 51 is meeting. Imagine obe night out she overhears a conversation betwee Kelly and Matt. Matt asks him when he's going to make a move, but Kelly brushes him off, that she's only a friend or something like that.... Which hurts her deeply. When a guy at Molly's hits on her Kelly convinces her (out of his stupid brain) that she should date the stranger.... The date goes terribly wrong, not only Kelly regrets that he pushed you away, the stranger also seems to be a total idiot. Furthermore he drugged her drink and now she's struggling in the bathroom of the bar for consciousness, calling the only person she really trusts with her heart..... I need some serious protective Kelly who becomes a cute care taker and is deathly worried for his sweet neighbor girl.

Title : the cute next door neighbour - Kelly Severide x fem!reader
Warnings : reader gets drugged, angst, a little bit of heartbreak, throwing up, this one is a little dark.
A/n : Thank you for this request! I really love this idea!!! (I did switch it up a little but I hope you won’t mind) And I don’t really know how to write about heart failure, so I’m really sorry if I portrayed it wrong or if this has false or wrong information. Please correct me if I got something wrong. And if you have any more requests or ideas please send them in!!! Sorry if the format is a little weird 😭
After a really long shift all Kelly wanted was to take a warm shower and sleep. He was really surprised when he saw the moving truck driving off from his apartment complex, he had no idea someone was moving in.
Walking into the apartment complex, he quickly ran up the stairs to his apartment. Kelly was exhausted so it took him twice as long to run up the stairs.
Seeing a cute girl next to his door with a bunch of boxes surrounding her, Kelly stopped in his tracks out of surprise. You looked so nice and it made him stop to just admire you. You were trying to lift one of the heavy boxes but you weren’t able to pick them up. You also looked out of breath.
Quickly snapping out of his daydreams, he walked up and said “Do you need any help with that Ma’am?” “Oh yes please, that would be great. If it’s not a bother of course!” You replied, smiling at him softly. “It’s not a problem at all, my name's Kelly by the way. I think we are neighbours.” He smiled, easily lifting up one of the boxes that were lying in front of the door to your new apartment.
“I’m Y/n, usually I’m able to do this on my own but due to my heart failure, I can’t really stress myself or pick up heavy things according to my doctor. And this whole move thing has been a lot.” You laughed a bit awkwardly. “Well I’m glad I can help you out even a little Y/n. And I know moving can be a lot so don’t stress yourself too much.” Kelly flashed a charming smile at you.
After Kelly helped you carry in all of the boxes to your apartment, you thanked him and offered to make him something to drink, since it was really hot outside. Severide of course accepted your offer, even if he was exhausted after shift he still wanted to know more about you. The two of you had a lot in common, so you got along perfectly.
Before you knew it Kelly and you had exchanged numbers, just in case you ever needed help with something. Even though you were next door neighbours it still was a really sweet move. Which made you feel so appreciated and cared for, despite knowing him for such a short time it still made your day so much brighter. His flirting skills made you blush and all flustered. He was really charming and sweet.
After all the nerves and stress related to the move you finally felt like you could take a breath of fresh air.
And that is how it all started.
Soon you started cooking together or having movie marathons whenever you had the time.
Once you even brought chocolate chip cookies to the firehouse, after getting a text from Kelly that they were having an awful shift. That is when you met all of his coworkers who thanked you for the amazing cookies and a few even asked for the recipe.
That’s when Matt noticed the way you look at Kelly. You were definitely in love with him and Severide literally had hearts in his eyes whenever he looked at you. Matt had heard a lot about you from Kelly and he was so excited to finally meet you. Ever since the two of you met, Matt became even more amazed at how oblivious Kelly was.
A while later you got invited to Molly’s by Hermann, saying it would be amazing for you to get to know everyone better. You of course agreed since you heard a lot about Molly’s from Kelly and you finally wanted to see the bar and meet more of his coworkers and friends.
As soon as you entered Molly’s, you looked around in amazement. It looked even better than you had imagined.
Walking up to the bar you ordered a soda since you couldn’t drink alcohol due to your heart failure. Glancing around the bar you saw Matt and Kelly talking at a table and you slowly got up and walked over to say hi.
You overheard Matt say “I mean Kelly you have to ask her out, she’s amazing, sweet and kind and I just think you two would make a great couple. And besides if I were you I wouldn’t want to lose a girl like her. I’d ask her out before someone else does it for you.” And Kelly replied with “Y/n’s just a friend and I don’t see her as anything more.” Just as you approached their table, you tried to turn around and walk back to the bar, but Kelly’s hand wrapped around your wrist and softly pulled you back to him. “Oh hey Y/n, I was hoping you would come.” Severide smiled at you. “I just wanted to say hi, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” You laughed a bit awkwardly still thinking about what you had just overheard. “Of course not, c’mon take a seat and sit down.” Matt replied, pulling out the seat that was in between him and Kelly.
You just sat in between them playing with the soda can, not really saying much to them. Kelly’s words were still going through your head.
Did he really only view you as a friend after all of that flirting and stuff?
Was he just leading you on?
Was this whole thing just your imagination?
Gabby approached the three of you, putting another soda can in front of you. “But I didn’t order- Before you could finish she interrupted you saying “It’s from the gentleman at the bar, who said he wanted to order a drink for the beautiful girl sitting at the table.” She smiled at you. “Oh and he also asked me to give you this.” Gabby handed you a folded napkin with a phone number on it. You blushed and asked if she could say thank you to the guy.
Looking down at the napkin you pulled out your phone and typed in the number and sent a short message saying “thank you for the drink!” Putting your phone down, you smiled, since this was the first time you got a napkin with someone’s phone number and a free drink all in one.
After sitting with Matt and Kelly for a bit you decided to go up to the stranger and thank him for the drink once again. You felt a little guilty for ignoring how Kelly looked sad seeing you walk away. But just like he said, the two of you were just friends. Nothing more.
Talking to the stranger who ordered you a drink you found out that his name was Tom. Soon the two of you were laughing and talking like you had known each other for years. You were laughing so hard you had tears running down your cheeks.
A while later Tom asked you on a date and you agreed. Normally you probably wouldn’t say yes to a date with a stranger, but he seemed nice and you just wanted to finally get over Kelly if nothing was ever going to happen between the two of you. “It was for the better.” You thought to yourself.
A few days later was finally the day Tom and you agreed to go on a date together. You both agreed to go to some new bar downtown, since they had recently opened and Tom had heard good things about that place.
The date was a little boring, not much happened and Tom kept on talking about himself and his achievements. Hearing your phone buzz you excused yourself and pulled it out to check who it was from.
Little did you know that something bad was about to happen.
When you returned you took a small sip of your drink and Tom smiled widely, starting to talk about himself again. Looking down into the drink you messed with the straw in your glass. As kind as Tom was, he was a little annoying since he would barely let you get a word in.
You just had a really bad gut feeling, this whole date was a mistake. Something was wrong, the drink tasted wrong and it all felt fuzzy and weird.
You suddenly wanted to go home. But not to your apartment. You just wanted Kelly.
Giving the excuse that you were about to throw up, you got up to leave to the bathroom and Tom stood up and tried to say something but you just ignored him and ran towards the bathrooms.
After you were done throwing up, you started crying. You were exhausted, everything hurt and you felt faint and sick. You just wanted Kelly.
Quickly pulling out your phone, you dialled his number and tried to explain what happened. But he could barely hear you since your breathing was so fast and you were crying really hard. You were able to tell him the address of the bar and that you were in the bathroom. You were slipping in and out of consciousness. Everything was spinning and blurry.
Before you knew it Kelly was running through the door towards where you were sitting on the floor. “Are you okay Y/n/n? How are you feeling?” He asked in concern, kneeling down next to you. “Like shit, I don’t know what happened. Wanna go home.” You mumbled. Kelly nodded and gently asked if you could stand and walk.
When you tried to stand your legs collapsed under you, so Kelly gently picked you up and walked out towards where his car was parked. You were so tired and scared you couldn’t hear what Kelly and Tom were saying. But Kelly seemed really mad. He was shouting something at Tom but you couldn’t make out what he was saying, all you wanted was to sleep.
And before you knew it you were on your way to Med with Kelly. During the drive you just gazed out of the window without saying anything. Kelly didn’t say anything either, he just looked over to you from time to time in concern. With Kelly’s help you unlocked the door and led you inside telling Maggie what happened.
The nurse directed you to an empty room and said that a doctor would be here to see you shortly. You were so tired you were starting to fall asleep. “It’s alright sweetheart, it’s okay. Just sleep. I’ve got you okay?” He said softly, bringing the hair out of your face.
“Kelly?” You asked, looking up to him with tired eyes. “Why’d you say that to Matt? Are we really just friends?” Severide's face fell upon hearing your question. “Y/n, I didn’t mean it like that, it’s just- I don’t want to lose you alright? You are way too important to me and I just thought you didn’t feel the same. I’m sorry sweetheart.”
You just nodded in response. “I was so scared, I didn’t know what to do.” You said, while starting to cry. You were exhausted and the whole events of the last few days came crashing down on you.
Kelly pulled you into his arms and placed a small kiss on your forehead. “It’s gonna be alright sweetheart. I’m here, just let it all out. We’re gonna be alright. We just need to wait for a doctor and we will figure it all out then okay? I’m here.” He softly whispered, pulling you even closer and rocking you side to side.
You were safe with Kelly, and you knew it.
After the doctor checked up on you  and said that they would like you to stay overnight just in case and to get everything out of your system. The doctor also said that a detective or officer would be here to check up on you and take a statement of what happened.
Before you could say anything more to Kelly, to thank him. You just fell asleep in his arms

Matt glanced at his phone, the lack of response to his message concerning him just a little. "Get a grip, Matt, maybe she’s driving.” He muttered at himself, just as the bells went off.
All units, Multi-vehicle accident.
With no other time to let his mind wander, Matt hurried towards the truck, nodding at Stella as the sirens sounded and the trucks hurried towards the address that dispatch had given them. But it wasn’t until Stella pulled the truck over at a distance away from the crash that Matt felt an irrational bad feeling blossom in his chest.
Matt pushed the feeling aside as he got out of the truck, wondering what the hell was wrong with him today. But he didn’t have long to be distracted as they immediately got to work.
He’d just sent most of them off in pairs when he spotted it - the flash of color, the partial license plate that sent his heart down to his stomach, the realization that the bad feeling was no longer irrational, while there was a crashing in his ears.
Stella spotted the car almost at the same time that Matt did, her head swiveling back to look at her Captain, but Matt was already on the move, gripping the tool he had in his hand tighter as he avoided people and vehicles alike, before he got there.
“Y/N!”
The car was lying on its side and Matt got on his knees to peer in, his heart thumping hard against his chest even though he’d done this a million times before.
“Alex?”
His four year old blinked back at him, looking alert and Matt’s eyes left Alex just for a second to glance at where you were motionless in the driver's seat up front.
“Hey buddy, you okay?” Matt said, peering in at his son.
“Daddy?”
Matt nodded back at Alex. “Listen, I need you to stay still alright?”
“You get me?” Alex asked, although he didn’t move as his father had instructed, continuing to lie on his stomach.
“Yes, I’m coming to get you, alright? Does anything hurt?"
Alex shook his head slowly and Matt nodded again. “Will you be a brave boy?”
He nodded quietly and Matt turned his attention towards you with a nod at Kelly.
Matt could hear Kelly talking to Alex, so he headed towards the front of the car. “Y/N, can you hear me?”
Matt glanced at Sylvie when you didn’t respond, the unease written all over his face.
“Casey, we got this.” Stella assured him, as the rest of the team worked even faster now, the loud sounds of their tools seeming to overwhelm the sounds of the other truck sirens that were coming to help.
As Cruz pulled off the back door, Kelly reached in for Alex, who was more than happy to wriggle his way towards his favorite uncle.
Kelly pulled Alex into his arms, his eyes raking the little boy for any sign of injuries before Violet reached them to check him out, Violet then bringing Alex straight to Matt.
“Hey buddy.” Matt said, keeping his voice low even as his eyes darted towards where Stella and Mouch were working on getting you out.
Matt felt the fear spread throughout his body even as he propped Alex into his arms. “He just has a few scratches and he’s fine but we should still go to Med.” Violet told Matt, as if she knew he needed a distraction.
Matt smiled. “Thanks, Violet.”
He offered Alex a reassuring smile, turning his body at an angle so that Alex couldn’t see them lift you out of the car.
Stella looked up with a small shake of her head.
You still weren’t responsive.
“Matt, you can come with us. We should get Alex checked out too.” Sylvie said. With a silent nod from Boden, Matt climbed in after you, reaching forward for your hand quietly, Alex sitting in his lap.
Tumblr media
The hardest part for Matt was juggling a toddler and being worried for you, like Matt had to choose between being a father or a husband, when he was both.
You’d been wheeled straight into a treatment room with Connor and Ethan assuring that you were in good hands, while Maggie directed him into a room with Dylan.
“Hey. I’m Dylan. You must be Alex.”
Alex glanced up at Matt who gave him an encouraging nod and Alex smiled back at Dylan.
As Dylan spoke to Alex and checked him out, Matt found his eyes wandering towards the treatment you were in, the hurried movements from across the ED not comforting at all. But he couldn’t leave his son here to go check on you.
“Case.”
Matt heard his best friend’s voice first before he registered his presence.
“Why don’t you go check on her?” Kelly said, reading his thoughts immediately, recalling the time Stella had been brought in. “Alex and I can hang out. What do you say?”
“Yeah!” Alex’s excitement when it came to Kelly had never come more in handy.
“Thanks, Sev.” Matt said, Kelly patting him on the shoulder.
Before he left, Matt pressed a quick kiss on his son's head. "I'll be right back." But Alex didn't seem too bothered, distracted by Kelly and Dylan.
Matt hurried across the ED, just as Connor came out from the treatment room. “Casey, good. I need to bring her up to surgery, alright? There’s some broken bones and she’s bleeding internally. I need to go in and stop the bleeding. Can I do that?”
Matt nodded quickly. “Whatever you have to do, Connor. I…”
Connor nodded back. “Casey, I got her.”
Matt leaned over to give your hand a squeeze, even though you still didn’t seem to be conscious. “Alex and I will be right here, baby.” He whispered, before they quickly wheeled you off.
Tumblr media
When you become conscious of your surroundings once again, you were confused at first. Your vision swam for a bit before the ceiling became clearer and your brain registered the smell that could mean you were only in one place - the hospital.
“Y/N?”
You blinked, angling your head to the side as Matt shot out of the chair he was in. You could feel the warmth of his hand and you smiled, your fingers closing around his until the memory of how you got here hit you like it had just happened.
You exhaled sharply and Matt stiffened, frowning.
“Alex. Matt, Alex he… he was in the backseat. He…”
“Shh.” Matt squeezed your hand tighter. “It’s okay. Alex is fine, alright? Kelly just brought him out to get a snack. But he’s fine. Dr Scott looked him over. He had a few scratches but that was it. Breathe.”
Relief flooded your system now as your body relaxed, only the pain left throbbing through your system.
But at least Alex was safe. That was something.
Matt sighed, his hand going to the top of your head as he leaned in and pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Thank god.” He whispered.
The whisper brought with it the unease and fear he’d been holding on to ever since he’d spotted your car lying on its side in the middle of the road.
“Sorry.” You whispered back, as Matt looked back down at you, as if he was afraid to take his eyes off you.
Matt shook his head with a small smile. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
He looked like he wanted to say something more before he was interrupted by Kelly and Alex coming back in. “Mama!”
You smiled, as Matt took Alex from Kelly’s arms.
“Hey you.” Kelly said, leaning in for a gentle hug.
“Thanks Uncle Kelly.” You answered, smiling as Kelly gave you an affectionate tap.
Matt lowered Alex onto your bed where he gently cuddled into your side and Matt just smiled, before he leaned in to put the both of you into his embrace.

“Are you trying to get us in trouble?” Otis whispered, after allowing you to pull off his t-shirt in one quick motion, dropping it by the shower drain as you planted your lips firmly on the nape of his neck.
You said nothing, instead grazing your teeth gently over his protruding collarbones, in a way that had a shudder rattle up his body and escape into the air, making you smile smugly to yourself as you always did like to bask in the way you made him feel.
“You're not worried, are you baby? That someone might catch us in here?” You whispered, the heat of your breath puffing over his skin in a way that gave him goosebumps as your mouth worked its way back up, your hands running equally as slow up the length of his muscular arms.
“No.” Otis scoffed out, ignoring the slight touch of worry deep in the pit of his stomach over the very idea of getting caught. He swallowed thickly, pushing those nerves down further as he wrapped his arms tightly around your waist, angling his head a little to allow you better access to his neck. “I just don’t want anyone seeing parts of you that only I get to see.”
“Is that so?” You chuckled, guiding your mouth all the way towards his ear, pressing kisses over every inch of him that you could before you reached your destination, tugging gently on his lobe in a way that had him huff out a breath before you whispered. “Well perhaps I’d be better suited pinned to the wall, that way… No one will be able to see much should they find us.”
In one quick motion, you found yourself pressed up against the shower wall, your legs wrapped tightly around Otis’s waist as he held you in place. Your arms wrapped around his neck, fingers threading through the softness of his hair as he kissed you like a starving man, with such intense heat that it felt like there was steam in the air and yet there was no water to be seen.
“There… Now no one will see you.” Otis breathed out, taking your lips in his again as he rocked his hips against yours, a soft whine escaping the back of your throat as that hardness beneath his pants. “But that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to hear you.”

"I NEED A MEDIC NOW!" Voight came limping out from the collapsed building carrying your unconscious body. Brett was the first to get to him, then chief Boden, Ruzek, Atwater, Casey and a multitude of other people. Boden helped shift your body onto a backboard, Ruzek helping to hold up Voight.
"She... she took a load of shrapnel to the stomach. She passed out about ten minutes ago." Brett nodded, ushering Boden and the others to move you onto the ambo. Ruzek gripped Voight tighter,
"Come on boss, we need to get you seen to as well." Voight didn't want to move at first, watching as the ambo holding you sped off away from the scene.
"Boss come on, we got this." Finally agreeing, Voight let Ruzek walk him to his car.
"Keep up with that ambo." Frowning Ruzek nodded, peeling away from the chaos behind him. Voight kept quiet the whole ride to Med, he let Ruzek update him on everything that had happened between the time he went into the building, till the time he came clambering out. A huge fire had started in a building the intelligence team were watching. They had a gang under surveillance who were meant to be the newest suppliers of heroine. It seems, they were so new they didn't know how to balance the chemicals properly, causing the whole building to go up in flames. FireHouse 51 had showed up, and got to work battling the fire. It didn't take long for the fire to be put out, or it's occupants to be escorted out. Once it was clear, Voight asked Boden to be shown where it had started to see if any of their gang members were part of the new burnt features. Boden had grabbed the first person that passed, you. Of course it had been you, of all the firefighters on this job it had to be you that came past at that moment.
"(Y/N), would you be so kind to show Sergeant Voight where the fire started please?"
"Sure thing Chief." Nodding his thanks, Voight followed you into the building. You'd only been in there for a short while when something blew up, causing most of the building to come down around you, and that is where you had both become stuck for eighteen hours. EIGHTEEN! Voight had ended up with a piece of metal impaling his thigh, and you had taken shrapnel to the torso. But you hadn't told him at first, you'd wanted to help Voight and anyone else you could find.
"I'm a firefighter Hank, it's my job to help others." He could still hear your voice ringing through his head. He'd only realised something was wrong, when your face became pale. Wrenching open your fire coat, a wave of horror spread over him. You had multiple entry points in your stomach and side, and blood was slowly oozing out of all of them.
"God damnit (Y/N)!" He stripped off his outer layer, tying it around your stomach trying to stop the blood flow. He'd spent hours digging away rubble, trying to find a way out. The last time he had felt this panicked, Camille had become terminally ill. You were both lucky that you hadn't gone too far into the building when it had blown, he managed to make a gap that he could pull you both through.
"Boss?"
"WHAT!" Ruzek frowned at Voights outburst.
"I know you're angry, and injured but we're gonna get this son of a bitch okay?"
"Mmm." Nodding he turned to look back out the window, letting Ruzek's words wash over him.
---------------------------------------------------
Voight came down to the waiting room to find the whole of 51 in there. Boden stood up, extending his hand. Shaking it, Voight nodded at everyone in the room.
"How is she doin'?" Boden gave a frown, keeping his voice low.
"We don't know yet, they took (Y/N) in for surgery about three hours ago." Clenching his jaw, Voight put his hands in his pocket. Hermann came over, giving an appreciative smile to Voight.
"Hey uh... thanks for pulling (Y/N) out. I uh... she's on my rig and I appreciate you looking out for her."
"Don't mention it, she's a good woman. You should both be proud of her, she spent most of her time looking for any casualties and trying to get us out of there." Smiling, Hermann looked at Boden both of them showing pride. Doors swinging open behind them all, a surgeon walked out smiling half heartedly at the crowd of firefighters.
"I managed to remove all of the shrapnel, there was a lot of internal bleeding. So much so that she coded twice on the table... I..." Voight stepped forward quickly, anger rolling off him in waves.
"You mean died... she died on the table." Looking uneasy the surgeon nodded.
"Yes... but I have managed stop all of the bleeding and she is in the recovery room." Boden looked between both men, a frown forming on his face.
"Uh... thank you Doctor. Are we able to see her yet?"
"Yes, she is still asleep but feel free." Most of 51 got up and quietly made their way into your room, Boden, Hermann, Voight, Severide and Kidd all remained in the waiting room.
"You know you didn't have to get all rude to the Doctor?" Kidd said, eyeing Voight with a pissed off look. Turning, Voight watched Kidd for a moment then looked around at the rest of them.
"I just spent eighteen hours trapped under a collapsed building with her, so please excuse me for feeling a little concerned for her wellbeing." Boden stepped forward, wanting to calm everyone down.
"We're all concerned here Hank, but you don't need to get angry at the people trying to save her life or my team." Smirking Voight turned on his heel, Hermann piped up feeling his temper rise.
"Hey you know we care about (Y/N) a lot! We were just as scared when you brought her out, so don't act like you're the only one who cares for her. She is part of our team.. OUR family okay and.." Voight whipped round quickly, his temper at breaking point, not noticing Ruzek, Burgess and Atwater stepping in behind him. He couldn't bring himself to say anything, knew if he did he would have a whole damn house of firefighters come down on his ass.
"Uh... Sarge? We um... think we've found the guys. We're going to bust them now. Do you want in or..." Rubbing his face in frustration, Voight turned on his heel.
"Let's go." Shoving past Atwater, Voight headed out fire burning his blood.
----------------------------------------------
Prying your eyes open, you found yourself laying in a dark room with the quiet beep of machines around you. Glancing round, you realised you was in Med.
"Hey... how you feeling?" Looking to your left you found Brett sitting in a big arm chair. Smiling you sat yourself up wincing at the pain in your stomach.
"I feel like I've been used as a sieve for bomb fragments. But other than that, I'm fine." Reaching for your hand she squeezed it,
"We were all here, we're taking it in shifts to check on you." Frowning you looked over at where your uniform had been set aside.
"The explosion... what happened? Did anyone else get hurt?"
"It's okay, we were all out of the explosion zone enough to just get a few cuts and scrapes. It was only you and Sergeant Voight that got the brunt of it." You felt your face grow hot at the thought of Voight.
"Christ... was he okay?" You tried to sound casual but it clearly wasn't enough. Brett smiled softly,
"Voight... he's fine. The last I heard he was out with his team hunting the gang responsible."
"But...?" It was Brett's turn to flush this time.
"Well um... see while we was waiting to hear about your surgery, he came and waited with us. The surgeon finally came out and told us how you was doing, but Voight... he seemed angry at how injured you had been." Your heart was racing now, every thought going through your mind.
"He didn't say why he was angry... but... when we spoke to Burgess she said that he gets a bit over protective. He thinks it's his job to save everyone you know?" Nodding, you felt your eyes water slightly as you dropped your gaze.
"He was angry I didn't tell him about my injuries, that's probably why he was so angry." Glancing up at Sylvie, you gave a half smile.
"I kept my mouth shut about the shrapnel I had taken, I knew if I didn't try to get us out of there, I'd have lost my mind. I just..."
"Hey, you don't have to explain yourself to me (Y/N), I get it. It's part of our job." You wiped at your face. She leant in and gave you a hug,
"Tell you what, I'll come back and see you tomorrow. You get some rest okay?"
"Thanks Sylvie, you're amazing." You watched her quietly leave your room, smiling to yourself as you shut your eyes feeling the sweet lull of sleep pulling at you.
ONE WEEK LATER
You'd finally gotten out of the hospital and was now resting in your own home. Most of 51 had called in to see you, bring you food and check you was okay. You hadn't seen Voight, he'd been pulled into another case which was taking up all of his time. You didn't mind, usually you were both pretty busy with work. Looking around your home, you felt boredom set in pretty quickly. You'd been resting for over a week, you needed to get out take in the night air.
Freshening up, you pulled on clothes that didn't make you look like a college bum, grabbed your keys, and headed out to Molly's.
"(Y/N)!" Hermann's voice rang out over the crowd, causing the rest of second shift to turn and grin. Smiling, you waved. You had a lot of people come and hug you, pat you on the back. Taking a seat at the bar, Hermann handed you a drink, squeezing your hand.
"It's good to see you kiddo." Taking a swig of your drink, you smiled.
"Thanks Hermann. I'm glad to see you too." You sat quietly, watching everyone come and go from the bar. Kidd had joined you at some point and you'd had a few drinks before you heard a bit of a commotion at the door. Both of you turning, you saw Voight standing in the doorway, looking straight at you his face full of thunder.
"Oh girl I think you're in trouble." Spinning back round you saw Kidd's eyes widen as she got out of her chair swiftly moving away. Before you could call her back, you felt a heavy presence behind you. Slowly turning, you found Voight looking down at you.
"I've been looking everywhere for you... you weren't at the hospital... or home... I thought you'd... I thought." His voice was low and dark. Fear and frustration was rolling off of him.
"I just wanted some fresh air, and decided to come here." Hermann was standing close by, listening in. Voight leant closer, reaching out a hand to gently touch your cheek.
"I was worried about you." Hermann shook his head and stepped closer.
"Hey Voight, I know you care but you're being a bit much aren't you?" Voights eyes lit up with a fire as some of the others of 51 had started to listen in.
'It's okay Hermann." You could see both men getting more angry by the second.
"What... no he's being a jerk. You aren't the only one who cares about her... she..."
"We're dating Hermann!" You felt the whole bar go silent. Hermann's eyes went wide, his mouth half open. Voight looked down at you, a smile playing on his face.
"You're...you and... and and Voight?" Hermann seemed to be struggling with what you'd just told him, slowly looking behind you and saw the rest of 51 had obviously heard you too. Keeping your voice quiet, you leant into Voight a little.
"Yes... me and Voight. That's why he was angry at the hospital." Sighing you looked up at Voight.
"For how long?" Hermann sounded confused and curious all at the same time. Voight answered before you could, never taking his eyes off of you.
"Mmm... about a year and a half."
Hermann seemed to go pale, kicking himself that no one at 51 had figured it out. Sighing, you gently placed your hand on Voights side.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the shrapnel, and... and I'm sorry you were worried about..." Before you could finish, Voight leant down and kissed you softly his big hand gently tilting your head back. Pressing his head to yours he smiled,
"You don't have to apologise. It's who you are, putting others before yourself. It's how you're built, it's why I fell in love with you." He enjoyed watching the surprise light up your face. Reaching up, you ran your hand over his cheek.
"Want to get out of here?" Grinning, he hummed in agreement. Helping you off your bar stool, he placed his arm around your waist, walking you slowly to the door. You could feel everyone's eyes on you, heard Kidd and Brett whistle at you. Tilting your head up to him, you waited for him to lean in closer so you could kiss his cheek.
"Huh... what was that for?"
"I love you too Hank." Smirking, Voight reached out for the door guiding you both out into the warm Summer night.

-----
You heard your phone buzz from where you had dropped it on the coffee table three and a half hours ago when you got home from work.
You heard your phone buzz from where you had dropped it on the coffee table three and a half hours ago when you got home from work.
You, me, Jay - Molly’s in an hour, you read the new message from your best friend, Kelly.
Groaning, you shifted to grab and unlock your phone. I feel like shit. I left work early. Rain check.
Another ding as a sad face popped up at the bottom of the thread. You sighed as you set the phone back down, wishing you felt up to hanging out.
You spent the next forty-five minutes tossing and turning on your couch in an attempt to find a comfortable position. The second half of Safe Haven played across the screen, but you weren’t really paying much attention.
Suddenly, you heard keys jingling outside your door before the deadbolt clicked open. The only other people who had keys were your brothers, and they never used them to come in while you were home.
Before you could further analyze the intrusion, Jay hollered through the barely-cracked door. “We’re coming in. Am I going to be scarred by anything I might see?”
You rolled your eyes and sat up, wincing at the flare of pain in your abdomen. “I’m not naked, if that’s what you’re asking. And who is ‘we’?”
“We brought you soup,” said Kelly from the kitchen. “I also grabbed tissues, cold meds, Excedrin, and Midol. I wasn’t sure what you might need.” You heard the rustle of bags and clunks of things being set on the counter.
“I didn’t need any of that, but I appreciate the thought. However, I don’t really appreciate you telling my brother I feel crappy.”
A moment later, Jay was snatching the remote from you. “I just came for the beer and the game.” You knew he came because he was worried, even though he wouldn’t admit that.
“Hey!” You reached to take it back as he lifted it over his head. “I thought you guys were going to Molly’s.”
Jay tossed the remote back once he’d turned on the hockey pre-game. “Kelly wanted to come hang out with you.”
“Wow. I love you, too, bro.” You carefully laid back down, shifting a few times until you found a somewhat comfortable position. “But since you are here… can one of you go grab my heating pad from my bedroom closet?”
Jay simply nodded before disappearing down the hall, returning a minute later with the heating pad in hand. He also had your favorite blanket tossed over his shoulder. It was his way of silently showing his concern. He plugged in the heating pad and tossed it and the blanket on the couch next to you.
“Thanks, Jay.” You smiled gratefully.
“Do you want the soup?” Kelly asked. ”Or we have pizza coming shortly, too.”
“Um, no. Nothing right now.” You shook your head. “I’m too nauseous. Thank you, though.”
Jay sat down in the recliner as Kelly came in and handed him a beer.
Kelly then lifted your feet and set them on his lap as he sat down. “You sure you don’t want anything else?”
You shook your head and pulled the now-warm heating pad across yourself. “This is all I need at the moment. But I’ll let you know if I change my mind.”
You made yourself comfortable as the two of them started to discuss the hockey game as well as how the rest of the season had been going. A little while later, there was a knock at your door.
Jay stood quickly. “I got it.” He returned a minute later with two large pizza boxes as well as a smaller box you suspected held cheesy garlic bread. He set the stack on the coffee table and slid one pizza toward Kelly before opening the other. “We got your favorite. We will try to save you some.”
You leaned up and punched him in the shoulder. “You’re so mean.” You tried your best to hide the wince from your sudden movement.
“Ouch!” he said, grabbing his arm dramatically. “If I was mean, I wouldn’t have offered to save you any.”
“Mmhmm,” you hummed. “You said try, not that you would save some.”
Before long, there were several slices missing from both boxes and the two of them were cheering and booing loudly at the television. You laughed and silently hoped they weren’t disturbing your neighbors too much.
During the first intermission, Jay’s phone dinged with a new message alert. He pulled it out of his pocket and quickly read the message on the lock screen before pocketing it once more. “Will is on his way over.”
Tossing the heating pad over the back of the couch, you rolled your eyes and groaned loudly. “Seriously? You couldn’t let me suffer in peace? He’s gonna be all doctory.”
Jay shrugged. “He wanted to watch the game. I didn’t even tell him you didn’t feel good.”
You scoffed. “Uh huh. You told him you were here instead of Molly’s so he already knows something is up.”
About ten minutes later, you heard your front door open without so much as a warning knock.
“Do none of you have manners anymore?” You asked him as he entered the living room. “And for the record, I am fine so do not ask.”
Will chuckled as he raised his hands in surrender. “Hello to you, too.” On his way to sit on your loveseat, he grabbed a slice of pizza. You watched as he and Jay exchanged pointed looks.
Over the next half hour or so, you noticed all three of them sending worried glances your way until, finally, you poked Kelly in the thigh with your foot. “Can I have that soup now? Maybe it’ll help my nausea.” You didn’t think it would, but it might get them to stop looking at you like you were about to break.
He nodded and got up, walking into your kitchen to warm it up for you. You shifted to sit up while you waited for him. Struggling to find a comfortable position, you noticed that Will was watching you more intently.
Kelly brought in the soup and sat down once more. “How do you want to do this?”
“Umm, can you pull the coffee table closer for me?”
Jay stood from his chair to push the end of the table towards you and move the pizza boxes out of the way. Kelly set the soup in front of you and handed you a spoon.
“Thanks.” You smiled as you slurped a spoonful of broth. Continuing slowly, you drank about half the broth and ate some of the noodles. Unexpectedly, your stomach flipped uncomfortably. You dropped the spoon back into the bowl causing a loud clatter.
All three sets of eyes were on you as you stood suddenly. You didn’t even attempt to hide the pained whimper that escaped with the movement.
“You okay?” Will and Jay asked in unison as Kelly reached out, prepared to steady you if necessary.
You groaned. “Yeah, peachy. Stay,” you directed them as you moved as quickly as you could to the bathroom. Flinging the door shut, you fell to your knees just in time to empty your stomach into the toilet. The pain in your knees was almost unnoticeable with the stabbing pain that flared through your right side. You tried to breathe through your nose as another wave of nausea crashed through you. Maybe you weren’t fine after all, but you weren’t ready to admit that to anyone, especially Will.
When you were pretty sure you were done, you flushed before sitting back against the wall. A knock broke you from your thoughts. “You alright in there?” Kelly asked.
“I’m fine.” You stood slowly and rinsed your mouth out before pulling the door open and meeting his concerned green eyes. “I swear. I’m really fine,” you lied. “I shouldn’t have tried to eat.”
Kelly’s hand hovered behind you as you made your way back to the couch. As you sat, you pulled the heating pad back over your lower abdomen, even though it’d done nothing to help the pain earlier. However, now you were chilly, and it would help with that.
“Is that normal?” Will asked. “Nausea and vomiting with cramps?”
You shrugged, debating what to tell him. “It’s happened before, but not always, no.”
He hummed, clearly deciding if he wanted to push. “Is anything else weird today?”
“Not really. Not unless you count being four days early.” Spinning to lie back down, you pulled your blanket over yourself.
“Are you cold?” Jay asked.
You glared at him. “Maybe a little. I just like to have a blanket when I feel crappy. Does that mean something to you? You’re the one who brought it out here unprompted.”
“Have you actually started your period?” Will asked.
Groaning, you asked, “Can we not have this conversation?” He just stared at you waiting for an answer. “Ugh, fine. No. No, I haven’t yet.”
Will stood and walked over to you. He placed the back of his hand on your forehead.
You knew there was no convincing them at this point, but decided to try anyway. “How many times do I have to tell you? I am fine!” Will narrowed his eyes at you before he walked away. You heard him opening the cabinet in the bathroom. Looking between Kelly and Jay you asked, “What is he doing?”
Jay shrugged. “How am I supposed to know?”
Rolling to face towards the back of the couch, you groaned.
Will was back a moment later. He knelt down in front of the couch and rolled you back to face him. “Open,” he directed, lifting your thermometer into your view.
“No.”
Will just sighed. “If you're right, then this will be normal and you can say ‘I told you so.’ Just humor me?”
“When I’m right, you are going to buy me dinner next week. Somewhere nice.” You held out your hand for him to shake.
He took your hand without shaking it. “I’ll buy you dinner next week, regardless, if you stop being difficult.”
“Fine.” You shook his hand, took the thermometer from him, and placed it under your tongue.
It was quiet as you waited, the game having been muted at some point. When the thermometer beeped, you pulled it out and handed it to Will, not even bothering to check it as you gave him a smug grin.
Jay leaned over to see the reading for himself as Will announced, “101.6, you have a fever.”
You shrugged. “So what? I have cramps and the flu or something. I don’t know what that proves.”
Will shifted to sit on your coffee table. He pulled off your blanket and heating pad despite your protests. He pushed just above your left hip bone.
“What are you doing?” you asked.
“Does this hurt?” asked Will. You shook your head as he pressed just below your belly button. He moved his hands over once more, and you started to shake your head again as he pressed down on your right side. As he started to pull away, you gasped, feeling a sharp pain similar to the one you had felt in the bathroom earlier. It was significantly worse, and you threw your head back hard against the armrest as you tried to recoil from the cause of the pain. “When did the pain start? Any other symptoms you aren’t telling me? How long were you using the heating pad?”
“Geez, one question at a time! It hurt a little, like barely even noticeable, last night around midnight. I don’t think so. And I don’t know, not that long. Why?”
Will stood. “Because it’s not cramps, it's appendicitis. We’re going to Med. Right now.”
“No,” you argued. You hated hospitals even more than Jay.
Jay pulled his keys out of his pocket. “I’ll pull the truck around.”
Will nodded to Jay before turning back to you. “This isn’t debatable. Sorry, kiddo.” He handed his keys to Kelly and bent over to lift you off the couch.
You grabbed his arm to stop him. “I can walk at least.”
Will proceeded to pick you up. “We don’t have the time to wait for you to make it down to the truck.”
Kelly flipped off the television and unplugged your heating pad before following you and Will out of the apartment and locking the door.
Will set you in the backseat of Jay’s truck and then ran around to get into the passenger side next to you. Kelly handed Will his keys as Jay peeled out of the complex.
“Jay, turn on the radio or something. It’s too quiet in here,” you complained.
Kelly looked over his shoulder at you. “Can’t take a comfortable silence with the three of us?”
“What part of this is comfortable?”
“It’s fine. We are only going to be in the car for ten minutes,” said Jay.
“Please? Just turn on someth—” you froze mid-sentence.
“Are you okay? Is the pain worse?” Will asked.
“Um, no. It actually doesn’t hurt anymore.” You frowned in confusion. “Why doesn’t it hurt anymore?”
“Damn it,” Will muttered. “Jay, go faster.”
Sinking further into the seat as Jay floored the accelerator, you glanced between Will and Kelly. “What? Why go faster?” You couldn’t help but finally start to worry.
Will took your hand in his and squeezed reassuringly. “Because if it stopped hurting, there’s a good chance your appendix just ruptured.”
“But that’s bad, right? Like, really bad?” You took a sharp inhale as the realization hit. “Like, I could die from an infec—”
Will squeezed your hand harder to get your focus back on him. “No. You’re going to be just fine.”
“Im so stupid. Why didn’t I say something? I lied earlier. I’ve never had nausea or puking with period cramps. I knew I should have said something before you even came over because the heating pad wasn’t helping. The heating pad always—”
“Y/N, breathe!” Will interrupted your rambling.
Kelly reached over and squeezed your knee, almost painfully, in an attempt to ground you.
“It’s okay,” Will reassured. “You’re going to be fine. You are right—untreated, it can be very dangerous, but we are almost to the hospital. Look at me.” Your eyes met his. “Just take a deep breath. You will be fine, you hear me?”
You nodded and tried to focus on your breathing rather than the panic swirling through your mind.
Less than two minutes later, Jay was pulling up to the ambulance entrance to the ED. You barely even had time to open your door before Jay was there gently lifting you out of the truck and heading inside.
Connor saw the four of you enter, you in Jay’s arms, and immediately moved to meet you. “Hey, what’s going on, guys?”
You threw your head back in annoyance. “You could have at least gotten a freaking wheelchair. This is just ridiculous.”
Kelly just chuckled as Jay scolded, “I thought you agreed to stop being difficult so Will would buy you dinner.”
Will ignored the three of you in favor of answering Connor. “I’m pretty sure she’s got a ruptured appy. Pain onset was around midnight. She tried to eat some soup about twenty minutes ago and vomited. Temp was at 102, and she had right-sided rebound tenderness. About five minutes ago, she said it stopped hurting.”
“Let’s get an ultrasound to confirm.” Connor turned around to find Maggie. “Maggie, where am I going?”
“Treatment 3. Monique, you’re with Dr. Rhodes.”
Jay set you on the bed, kissed your forehead, and then shifted by the foot of the bed. He placed his hand on your shin. “Just let me know if I’m in the way.”
“No, you're good there,” said Connor. “Monique, let’s run a CBC and a BMP.”
Will handed Connor the ultrasound probe as Monique wrapped the blood pressure cuff around your bicep. She clipped the pulse ox on your index finger. To distract yourself while she placed the IV, you focused on Jay and Kelly, who was hovering in the doorway.
“It’s definitely a ruptured appy,” Connor announced, handing the ultrasound back to Will. “Let’s get her up to the OR.”
The panic you’d been trying to suppress since the truck bubbled to the surface again, and you started to hyperventilate. Jay stepped forward to take your hand.
Connor gently squeezed the opposite shoulder. “Just take a deep breath, sweetheart. I know you hate the hospital but I need you to try to calm down.” He shifted away to grab an oxygen mask before placing it over your face.
Will reached around Connor to take your hand. “What did I tell you? You’re going to be fine. Surgery and some antibiotics, and you’ll be good as new in a few weeks.”
You managed to take a couple slow, deep breaths. Locking eyes with Connor, you asked, “Can— Are you doing the surgery?”
“Yep, I’m all yours.” He and Will pulled the gurney out of the room and towards the elevators.
When they pulled you off the elevator, Jay squeezed your hand once more before letting go. Kelly took his place, kissed your forehead and squeezed your shoulder.
Finally, Will placed a kiss on your knuckles. “We’ll see you on the other side.”
A moment later, Connor was pushing you into the operating room. He pulled the oxygen mask off and set it beside your head. “These nurses are going to get you settled. I have to go scrub in and then I’ll be right back, okay?”
You nodded. Connor turned to leave, but you stopped him. “Wait! I’m gonna be all loopy after, right? Like all those videos online?”
Connor cracked a smile. “Probably. It takes a bit for the anesthesia to clear your system, and you’ll get some pain meds.”
You scowled at that thought. “Okay. Do me a favor—don’t let those three see me while I’m still drugged and loopy. If they end up with something to tease me about, you are dead to me.”
Connor laughed. “Yes, ma’am.”
The next few minutes were a blur, and before you knew it, someone was asking you to count backwards.
As you started to wake, there was a new, different ache through your abdomen. You groaned and peeled your eyes open, meeting Connor’s bright blue irises.
“Welcome back. How’re you feeling?” he asked.
Scrunching your nose, you considered how to answer. “Hmm, a little sore. Sleepy. And cold. Can I go home soon?”
“How about we talk about that later?”
“Can I have a blanket?”
Connor gave you a sad smile. “Sorry. Not right now. You still have a fever.”
“Please?” you whined. Before he could answer, another thought hit you. “Hey, where‘re my brothers and Kelly?”
“You threatened me to not let them in here yet!” Connor huffed. “They will be waiting for you once we move you out of recovery.”
You vaguely remembered what you’d told Connor. “Oh, yeah.”
“It’s late. How about you try to get a little more sleep?” Connor suggested.
You gave him a lazy thumbs up before quickly falling back to sleep.
—————
Connor found Jay, Will, and Kelly in the waiting room. All three were scrolling through their phones. “Everything went perfectly. She is in recovery now, and a nurse will come get you when she’s back in a room.” Connor explained.
Will huffed. “Why can’t we go see her now? Or one of us at least?”
“Nope.” Connor shook his head. “She threatened me to not let you see her while she’s loopy. So, no. You’re waiting until she’s moved. It should only be about half an hour.”
“Come on. She probably won’t even remember anything she says.” Will argued.
“She wasn’t worried about what she’d remember. Seems to think her big brothers might tease her,” said Connor. “I promise, she’s fine. She was sleeping when I left a few minutes ago.”
—————
About an hour later, Jay, Will, and Kelly were sitting around your hospital room, waiting for you to wake up.
You jerked awake suddenly with a gasp. The sudden movement pulled on your stitches. “Shit. Ow.”
All three guys were beside you in an instant, your brothers on either side while Kelly took up the space at the foot of the bed.
“Are you okay?”
“Did you have a nightmare?”
“What hurts?”
In your half-awake state you weren’t even sure who had said what as they spoke over each other. You simply groaned in response.
“Can I check your incision?” Will asked. “Need to make sure you didn’t just pop a stitch.”
“Not like you’re going to take no for an answer,” you said. You pulled on the gown to get it out of his way. Due to the sleepiness or the pain meds, maybe both, you were slightly uncoordinated. He helped you pull the fabric aside so he could get access to your bandage.
Connor came into the room as soon as Will had pulled the gauze up. "I'm pretty sure that's my job."
“Sorry, she had a nightmare and jerked pretty hard when she woke up. I wanted to be sure.”
Connor checked the incision as well. “It looks good.” He turned his attention to you. “Scale of one to ten, how’s the pain?”
“Not bad. Maybe a three.”
Connor nodded. “When you need more pain meds, just use the call button or tell Will. I’m going to let you get some rest. I’ll be in to check on you in the morning.”
“Thanks, Connor.”
Jay, Will, and Kelly took turns shaking Connor’s hand as he headed out.
“Thanks, man,” said Will, following Connor to the door. “You here all night?”
Connor nodded. “Yeah, I’ll be in the ED.”
“Want to talk about it?” Jay asked as Will came back to your bedside.
“About what?”
“That nightmare,” Jay clarified.
“Oh. No, I don’t really remember most of it.” He looked like he didn’t believe you at all. You opted to change the subject before he could press. “Do I get to go home tomorrow?”
Will sighed, knowing you weren’t going to like his answer. “No. You’ll need IV antibiotics and monitoring for infection for at least a few days.”
“This sucks. What is the point of having a doctor for a brother? I want two fancy dinners.”
They all laughed.
“Sure. Next time you don’t feel well, are you going to just tell me up front?” Will asked.
“Eh, probably not.” You smirked. “But honestly, 9 times out of 10, it’s nothing.”
“Just continue to always tell me. I’ll loop them in if need be,” Kelly offered.
“‘If need be’?” You rolled your eyes. “You brought Jay over without even knowing anything!”
Kelly just shook his head. “I know you never leave work early. You had the stomach flu last year and didn’t even miss any work.”
“Well, clearly, you know me too well.”
“Clearly, it’s a good thing I do.”
“Alright, stop rubbing it in. You guys might as well go home and get some sleep,” you suggested despite not wanting to be alone.
“Nah, you’re stuck with us tonight,” Jay said.
Hoping your relief wasn’t obvious, you smiled. “You guys don’t have anything better to do than sit around and watch me sleep? Creepers.”
————
Five days later, you were signing discharge papers as Jay and Will argued about which one of them you should stay with.
“I have a guest room,” said Jay. “You want to make her sleep on a couch?”
“No, jackass,” Will countered. “She can sleep in the bed, and I’ll take the couch.”
“My place means no one is sleeping on a couch.”
“Guys!” you interrupted. “I’m going to my own apartment.”
Will sighed. “You shouldn’t be alone, at least for a few days.”
“My couch is open,” you shrugged. “Fight over that, take turns. I really don’t care. But I am going home to my own bed.”
“I’m off tonight,” said Jay. “I’ll stay.”
“I’m off, too. I can stay.”
“Quit arguing,” you groaned. “I love you both, and I appreciate that you both want to help me. But I will kick you both out and call Kelly instead.”
“Sorry,” they said in unison.
“We will figure out a schedule,” said Jay.
“Awesome. Now, will you guys, please, get me the hell out of here?”
Will grabbed the wheelchair a nurse had brought in earlier. “Gladly.”

Jealous - Brian 'Otis' Zvonecek
Request: I thought about Brian’s ex coming to town maybe Katie and reader gets jealous seeing how he reacted to her when she stopped by the firehouse. Fluffy ending of him putting her mind at ease that she’s his future and he loves her. Tysm for doing this❤️❤️
A/N: I found this in my drafts and realized I never finished it.
One Chicago Masterlist
✳︎ ✳︎ ✳︎ ✳︎
“Look, I get it,” you stressed, trying to make your voice sound a nonchalant as you weren’t feeling, “Kelly’s dad died and that’s awful and of course Katie is gonna come to the funeral...I just don’t know why she had to come here. To 51. To see Otis.”
From the look on Stella’s face you knew that your nonchalance wasn’t anywhere near believable. And how could it be? You remembered Katie from last time, something that you knew Sylvie knew just from the sympathetic look on her face when Katie came walking onto the app floor that morning. You and Otis were just friends back then but you’d had a crush on him, one that you were fairly certain he had picked up on until he’d announced to you and Cruz that he was dating Severide’s sister.
“She told him she’s got a boyfriend back in...wherever. I’m sure this is just a nostalgic trip down memory lane.” Stella tried, really she tried, but the words weren’t going through. Sylvie had tried this morning when ambo got called out on a run before you’d even sat down for briefing. And Cruz had tried when you came back and found Otis in the common room laughing at whatever hilarious thing you were sure that Katie had said to him.
Probably something along the lines of ‘breakup with your partner and date me instead. Remember how much fun we had together? And you didn’t have to explain the inner-workings of Catan to me.’
“It better be.” You grumbled, slamming your locker door a little louder than you meant to. There hadn’t been a call since the one that pulled you away from Otis and Katie’s initial reunion and in all honesty you were hoping there would be a call soon just to get you out of 51 and focused on work. Couldn’t some uncoordinated Chicagoan have a slip and fall or something? Anything to get you away from them and all the thoughts swirling in your head. You didn’t want to seem like you were lurking or eavesdropping on their conversation and you wanted to seem like the cool partner, the person who could let their boyfriend and his ex hang out without feeling any jealousy. But it was the exact opposite and if Stella knew, everyone else probably did too.
You left the locker room still somewhat aggravated, talking to Stella had helped you vent but it hadn’t given you any peace of mind. You still didn’t want Katie there and you were still annoyed that Otis had been so happy to see her. It wasn’t really his fault and you knew that. If there was anyone in the world that was guaranteed to have positive, healthy relationships with their exes, it was definitely Otis. What wasn’t to love about him? But knowing that just made the feeling in the pit of your stomach ten times worse. Why did he have to be so nice? Couldn’t he just be an asshole? Or maybe just an asshole to Katie? No...you didn’t want that either.
“Hey, there you are!” Otis’ voice startled you as you turned to see him standing there in the in the hallway outside of the lockeroom. No Katie in sight, thankfully. You’d heard him mention something about a tour of the firehouse (as if anything had changed since the last time she was here) before you’d snuck off to the lockers.
“Where’s Katie?” You asked, glancing over his shoulder as if she would materialize.
“Just in,” he pointed back to the common area, “wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“I’m fine.”
Otis looked immediately skeptical and you crossed your arms defensively, trying to play off you tension as calm, still hoping that the alarm would go off. Even if it was a fire, you’d rather everyone go than have to be stuck here one more moment with Katie and Otis. You definitely didn’t want to go back into the common room and have to sit there at the table and listen to the two of them share stories and reminise about the past.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. It wasn’t even like you were being rational in your annoyance. Otis had introduced you as his partner immediately. The practical second after he said hello to Katie he was dragging her over to you and introducing you as if you were the best piece of his life in Chicago that he could share with someone. But still, you hadn’t been able to quell the voice in your head. “Fine.”
Otis’ skeptical look turned contemplative, as if he was working something out. “Wait a minute...are you jealous?” He looked like he almost didn’t believe the words when he said them. As if it was such a crazy notion that saying it out loud made him feel like he was being ridiculous.
You huffed, shoulders slumping. Otis’ mustache twitched as he smiled, correct in his analysis. “I really like Katie,” you defended, lowering your voice so no one would overhear. “She seems super nice and I can totally get why you went out with her.”
“Can you totally get why I’m not interested in her now?” He asked, “Cause I love you and that’s not gonna change just cause my ex is in town?”
“Yeah, yeah...I know.” You replied, defeat evident in your voice. “I don’t know I just saw her and you were so excited to catch up. It’s totally irrational, I know that! I just...ugh god. I can’t explain it.” You huffed. “Stop smiling me like that.”
Otis’ smile didn’t diminish. He couldn’t deny that you getting jealous felt like a bit of an ego boost. That someone could love him so much that they were bothered by the idea of him hanging out with an ex. “Sorry, sorry, just kinda cute how annoyed you are.”
“Oh yeah, how cute would it be if I had an ex come to town and spent the whole afternoon with them?” You asked, hands on your hips.
Narrowed eyes, Otis’ smile turned to a slight grin. He knew what you were getting at and frankly, he knew you were right. Maybe it was silly that you were bothered by Katie but he knew if any ex of yours showed up at the firehouse he would be acting a lot worse. Less hiding in the locker room and more showboating. “Lets just not have exes, problem solved.”
“Well I doubt I’ll have any more.” You replied, the alarm finally blaring in the background.

Alright I need some help getting my confidence back to posting my kinda okay writing. So I am asking you all to fill up messages/asks and send me requests for one shots or short stories that may or may not spiral into a series, or which of my series do you want a new chapter written?
I guess I should also mention my second page @coffee-shop-girl is where I would post my stories under and that is where they all live. Now you’re probably wondering why I am not posting this on that page? Well I don’t know how to get my message/ask section back. It seems to have disappeared a while ago and that kind of when I stop writing and posting. So for now this page still has access to messages/asks so fingers crossed I don’t lose it on this page.
So what fandoms do I write for?

* The Walking Dead
Are my top fandoms, but send me anything, it will be good exercise in the creative process. So read through my meteoric work, see my style of writing, and send me a prompt.
I am tagging a few accounts that seem to have recently found my works, or that I have started following or that use to follow me. hope you don’t mind, I just really want to get eyes on this. I promise I will only tag you in posts moving forward if you want to be.

FORGIVEN- Brian Otis Zvonecek
Summary: You and Brian haven't seen each other for months, distanced by pain and resentment, but the past comes back to knock at the door a night like any other (but not without the help of Brett and Joe )
Tumblr media
Warnings : Mention of Panic Attack and past abusive relationships
17.30 PM
"For the last time, Sylvie: I don't intend to come at any double date with... her." It's been about ten times that Otis has told her this, yet his friend hasn't stopped pestering him since the morning.
"It's not a double date!" Sylvie replies "You are just coming to the the Street Food Expo  with me, Joe and y/n."
"And I bet it's a coincidence that we are four people and two of us are a couple and then there's me and y/n. If this isn't a double date..." He mutters, shaking his head.
"Come on," She pleads "if you'll come, y/n won't be hanging around me and Joe all the time but at the same time she won't be in danger being alone at home. You know, since she has broken up with that asshole, Marcus, he follows her everywhere. He has even stopped by my apartment a few times, we haven't opened the door but it was scary as hell."
Otis tries to ignore the painful pinch in his chest at the mention of Marcus and the fact that he is now your ex. He tries to stop the anger that boils in his veins at the idea that someone could even think of hurting you. "Right, and you can't ask anyone else?"
This is not how he wants to say it, he doesn't know why words escape his lips like this. "No Otis, I can't and you know it too. You were her best friends, you still are." He shakes his head again, Brett nails him with an accusing look. "Come on, I'm begging you. If you don't want to do it for her, do it for me."
And truth is, Brian would do anything for you.
He has already done it, everything.
He has tired to save you for two years from that toxic and wrong relationship you got yourself stuck into, getting a door in his face and a broken heart in return. When Marcus has forced you to choose one day, you've chosen him.
"I don't even like the expo" He replies but now he's already convinced to come and Brett knows it.
"Pick us up at half past eight, be punctual and..." "But I do not -"
"Be on time and wear something nice, okay? You never know what can happen" After lingering for several seconds and insulting himself with at least fifteen different offensive expressions, in fact, Otis sighs and gives up.
"Alright then."
"Oh thanks!" Sylvie throws her arms around his neck, euphoric
"Thank you, thank you, tha –"
"Let's be clear about one thing, though" he interrupts her without breaking away "first: you owe me a favor, and secondly... You are aware that if this is a move to clarify things between me and y/n it won't work, right?" Brett giggles in amusement, pulling away but still holding him by the shoulders.
"Don't worry Otis, this night is for me not for you."
And Brian doesn't know why, but when Brett leaves a strange feeling pushes between in his chest and throat, something like an itch that he can not soothe. "But if you still want her, I'm sure y/n needs you"
This perhaps makes him feel almost worse.
9.15 PM
Friday night is almost as sacred to you as Christmas to your mother. Although practically everyone thinks of you as a pub girl, you love to spend Fridays at home, on the sofa wearing only a tank top, bra free, with sweatpants, a glass of wine and Marcus by your side back during the good old days, when he still was the guy you fell in love with in high school.
There was another time then when your Friday nights - but also your Saturdays and Tuesdays - were the Mollys.
Brian, to be more specific.
Your Fridays has been Brian at one point. When with Marcus it was all ups and downs, all messed up and sad and pathetic, you have found yourself there more and more, with that sweet, nice fireman you had slept with once, during one of the many breakups with Marcus, and who then somehow had became your best friend.
A friendship you've always  paid dearly for.
A punch once. A kick in the ribs. A glass on the head yet another time. Every time Marcus has remembered that Otis was still  part of your life, it has gotten worse. And you have accepted everything, without saying anything to Brian, because you were sure that if he knew that what you were going through was somehow his fault - of his texts and his calls-  then he would have felt guilty forever and you didn't want to. Also he was going to kill Marcus, and you didn't want that too. He would have tried to save you. Indeed he did it to be honest, after two years of friendship, after two years of lies and subterfuge, after two years in which you swore you had left Marcus so many times.
"It's really over" but then you always came back to him and Brian could only watch you self-destruct in the name of your sick love, of a life you didn't deserve, a man who have convinced you that you're worthless without him.
And that's how you feel now: worthless and pathetic.
Brian has tried to save you, even putting Antonio in the middle and reporting Marcus.
He did it without your knowledge, while you were still unconscious in a hospital bed, after Marcus threw you down the stairs.
A concussion, bruised face, broken rib and arm. Even that wasn't enough to make you give up.
"I fell" You have said to the police, saving his ass again one time.
"You didn't have the right" you have yelled at Brian, later, with an IV still in your body. He couldn't look at your swollen and pale face, he couldn't touch your cold skin. He couldn't accept that the best person he knew, the only woman in the world from whom he had willingly accepted a friend-zone because he would have wanted you in his life in any way, the person he called at the end of every difficult shift and  knew how to calm him like no one else in the world, you, his precious y/n were a mess of bruises, tears and broken bones.
In his heart he blamed himself for everything, because he should have stopped it, he should have killed Marcus, he should have asked you out after your first -and only- night together instead of waiting days just to find you with him again.
He should have understood sooner that he was the right man for you, gathered courage and stepped forward.
Brian could not understand that you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.
"I can stand up for myself"
"Oh I. see it. Fuck I'm tired of finding you like this, I'm tired of standing still while you let that son of a bitch kill you."
He raised his voice and waved his hands in the air gesturing in a way that for some reason scared you and covered your face to protect yourself.. Your body instinctively reacted to the only thing it knew by now: violence and Brian looked at you with the biggest eyes in the world, scared of himself.. He brought a hand to his face, trying to hide how much that gesture of yours struck him, then he leaned towards you and gently as if you were made of glass, he embraced you.
It was the last time.
When you met again, Brian was at your door. When you met again, you had just discovered that no, he hadn't given up on the Marcus investigation and had continued to put Voight and his bloody cop friends in the middle.
"I did it because I'm your friend y/n fuck"
You opened the door just enough to see his face collapse as you yelled.
"Then maybe you shouldn't be. I don't need you"
It's been four months. Somehow you found the courage to leave Marcus when you saw him try to lay hands on Sylvie, one evening when she came by to see how you were doing.
You've moved in with her, you've taken your life back in your hands . You've never seen Brian though.
"Hurry up y/n" Brett intimates.
"Take it easy, Joe will surely be late anyway" You reply, putting on your lipstick.
"There's been a change of plans," Syilvie says hastily, pulling on her black boots.
"Joe and Otis will be picking us up in a bit."
"When were you going to tell me he's coming too?" you scream, your voice  high-pitched, smearing lipstick in your cheeks in anxiety. You clean yourself quickly, so hard it feels like you want to peel off your skin and you try not to notice the way your heart has started pounding at the mention of his name.
You tell yourself that you can do it, that it's okay, that you're ready to see him again even if you know it's not true. For a moment a little voice whispers in you ear that you shouldn't go with them, but you can't: the idea of being alone still scares you.
"Please wipe that depressed look off your face" she begs.
"You know what's depressing? The fact that you have invited him because I can't be alone, at my age. It's all so absurd."
You shake your head, trying to smile
"Of all the people in the world you had to invite him? You couldn't invite... I don't know, Kelly? Dawson?" You ask, putting on your favorite jacket at full speed.
"Because he's your best friend and you miss him more than you care to admit and he's the only one you wouldn't be ashamed to tell what Marcus is still doing to you. Besides, I know he's the only one you could bear to spend some time with right now, he's special to you." she replies, bringing out the best of her innocent expressions, while you roll your eyes and just pray that it will end quickly.
You like less and less the fact that deep down you know how right Sylvie is: Brian Zvonecek is without a shadow of doubt the only person in the world who has managed to understand you, he was also the only one to touch the deepest strings of your heart when you thought it was made of stone after all the years with Marcus.
He has crushed your soul in a way no one had before and he did it with kindness and delicacy, without having to do anything more than be himself.
He has taught you to still believe in good people and in true love, the one made of caresses, of sharing, of sweetness.
You've figured it out too late and repaid him treating his like he didn't matter, like he wasn't important.
You know it's his greatest fear, being abandoned, being left behind, being less important to others, being the last wheel in the cart and you hurt him in the worst way.
No matter how much Sylvie and Joe keep telling you that it's not true, that in cases like yours it's a normal reaction, that Marcus has manipulated you for a long time, that Otis doesn't see it that way and that he will understand if you talk to him: you just can't look at his face now.
9.45 PM
"I still don't understand why I can't be in the front sit." Otis mutters, turning to look out the window at the Chicago nightscape.. It's just the beginning of the evening and he's already tired of the palpable tension between you two, he's tired of having to keep his head turned away because he can't bear the sight you, he's tired of feeling your eyes on him.
"Come on man. Sylvie 's my girlfriend it's normal that I make her sit here, Have you ever heard of gallantry?" Otis shakes his head. "Yes right, gallantry"
Sylvie turns towards you, she gives you a look to give you courage but you don't speak, you remain silent, you throw a few glances at Brian from time to time that he doesn't reciprocate and you are here, still, to torture your hands wondering if you should have stayed at home.
He hates you.
He hates you and you can't stand it.
When Cruz's car stops suddenly to avoid colliding with another car you are thrown forward hard. It's an instantaneous gesture, so quick, fast and natural that he doesn't realize it and maybe not even you. Not really.
In a second the fireman's arm is in front of you, as if to protect you, keeping you in your place, avoiding any kind of danger.
You don't even hear Joe and Sylvie's curses, you and Brian are still in your moment, still In the instant in which after so many months your bodies are touching again, and under layers of clothes you can both feel a shiver shaking your bodies .
"Everything Okay?" He asks, his voice shaking, realizing what he's just done. He withdraws his arm slowly, reluctantly. He hates to admit it, but he would like to stay like this forever.
This little contact, it seems enough for him and he feels like a fool.
A poor idiot in love.
You nod. "Everything fine?" You ask, looking directly at his face for the first time. You've missed his dark eyes so much that you can't quantify it in words, so much that the world exists only in his gaze and you wonder how you haven't realized before all this, how wonderful and big his eyes are.
How much you need his gaze on you.
He reciprocates with an intensity that scares you, that doesn't seem real. Marcus has never looked at you like that. Not even once.
Not even at the beginning.
Brian, he has looked at you like that all the time.
If he's still looking at you like that then maybe he doesn't hate you.
But then, as soon as he comes to his senses, his gaze returns hard, cold, distant, all hope is lost.
When the car starts again, he turns around and puts a distance between you two. The world is suddenly colder. He shifts his eyes to you, again and again, being careful not to be noticed. He thinks you are beautiful. He thinks you're beautiful and you seem better off without that asshole.
He can't help but be happy about it.
"It's going to be a long night," Joe murmurs softly.
I'm sure of that too, Otis thinks, still looking at you sideways.
He's never been lucky with love, of course, but with you it's something that goes beyond love, beyond friendship, beyond everything. Something he can't describe or name, but still hurts terribly
10 PM
Brian doesn't hate y/n, at all. He could never, not even when you  have decided to cut all ties. What makes him angry is never being able to fully understand you.
You are a mystery, even though he knows you so well. One second you're a strong and independent woman, the best he knows, the most talented, the liveliest and nicest, the next you're Marcus' puppet, silent at her side, submissive, afraid and dull.
Sure, it's not your fault, but he can't help but get angry to see how you let an ordinary man shut down someone as amazing as you, it angers him to know how little  respect you have for yourself to think you deserve something like this. No matter if it's over, Brian will carry this anger with him forever maybe.
Brett goes out of the car, clutching Cruz's arm, announcing that they're going to go for a walk on their own.
"No" You say instinctively. "I mean, I thought we were supposed to be together." You continue then, hoping you haven't offended Brian.
"We need to discuss something, then we'll catch up with you" Brett replies winking at Otis and walking away before he can reply.
Cruz doesn't know if his friend has the  strength to do it anyway. He is confused and upset to have you here again, Joe knows this and isn't entirely sure of Brett's plan.
"You're crazy" Joe whispers.
"They both need it, I can't take it anymore"
"You realize we're pretending to still be together just for them, Sylvie, you're crazy"  Joe shakes his head.
"it's crazy that those two don't talk to each other anymore"
Brian watches you, the way you bite your nails tense, the way you move your knee, and bite your lip. You are agitated and something more: scared. "Everything Okay?" He asks, his voice hoarse.
"Yes, yes, don't worry, it's just that I haven't imagine a night like this"
"And how have imagined it?" He asks. You shake your head, smile just letting your hair cover your face red with embarrassment.
"I didn't expect to see you Bri, I wasn't ready"And he almost wants to yell at you that you drove him away, and he doesn't need to talk. You know the face he makes when something makes him nervous, recognize it and remain silent. "I think we should go" he says he points to the stalls.. He starts walking then he stops and turns to you.
"I knew you'd be there, but it doesn't make it any easier"
You nod. "I'm sorry, I'd give anything to..."
The words dies in your throat.
"Me too y/n" he replies, hinting for the first time a smile under his mustache that you like so much.
"Come on, let's go get something to eat" he whispers.
You walk behind him.
It's not all solved, but it's a start and for now it already seems almost a miracle.
10.15 PM
You see him everywhere, it takes your breath away.
Marcus is in every shadow, in every man, in every corner and you can't help but tremble with every step you take. Your hands are shaking, your legs are limp and you're breathing hard but you don't want Brian to notice.
Marcus is in your head, just in your fucking head.
"Do you prefer ketchup or barbecue?" Brian turns to you, wallet in his hands, an almost serene expression on his face. It takes you a while to answer, to understand. You remember that you're at the hot dog stand, that everything's fine, that you're talking to Brian and Brett and Joe will be back soon and it'll be even better.
"I ... Nothing" You whisper, your voice trembles, your eyes move from side to side looking for something that can justify your fear, the shiver down your spine.
"You sure? Oh girl that's fool" He comments, giggling. You place a hand on his clutching wallet.
"No Bri, there's no need"
You don't want him to pay. It's not right.
"Look, it's okay. I'm still mad at you, but I'm also happy to be here and it won't make me broke" You don't even smile, you keep looking around you and you feel the air getting heavy, almost oppressive.
"Dude" One of the guys from the truck intervenes."Watch out for your girlfriend, she doesn't seem so well" Otis doesn't bother to say that you're not his girlfriend, he gently pushes you out of line as soon as he realizes you're shaking like a leaf and looking paler than ever.
He hates himself for not noticing it sooner.
"Ei ei y/n, what's going on?" You shake your head.
"it's nothing, it's All Right"
You can't tell him. You can't reopen this wound. Brian would freak out, look for Marcus.
What if... If he is really here?
He would put himself in danger for you, you know he would. You can't let it happen.
"I just need some air" You move away but Brian, quick as lightning, grabs you by the arm.. The gesture takes you back in time, where the hands holding you are not those of the fireman and they are not delicate at all but mean, cruel. You stiffen and Brian realizes it without you having to speak.
He seems to read your mind, he's always been good at it.
"Sorry" he whispers.
"You didn't do anything Bri. I'm not made of crystal, you can touch me"
You start walking again trying to erase the fear from your heart and he stops you after a few seconds, looking you up with his big dark eyes as if the whole world dependeds on you and you alone.
"Don' t look at me like this"
"Tell me what you have then"
You feel the tears tingling in your eyes when yet another shadow takes the form of your ex and feel your chest tighten and you want to die.
"Why? Damn Brian you should hate me! Stop worrying about me, I don't need you"
The man looks away, his jaw clenched and his brow furrowed.
You realize what you've said:
I don't need you.
You take a step towards him and try to grab his hand.
"I...I didn't mean...I" And you wonder how it's possible to mess it all up again so easily.
Otis' hand trembles in anger under your fingers.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"I will never stop worrying about you okay? I've tried and I just can't! It would have been wonderful to do it, to forget about you in a hospital bed bacause of that son of a bitch but there isn't a single, fucking day that I don't think about it and there isn't a day where I don't wonder what I could have done to stop it. And God, there isn't a day that I don't regret not making you fucking leave him earlier. For months I've spent every fucking second wondering how you were doing. So no, it's not about you. It's me. I, I need to know. Tell me what's wrong with you." He raises his voice but Brian doesn't scare you.
Come on, he's different and the way he looks at you... he's not angry, not really, it's something different and maybe worse: disappointed, desperate, scared even.
Terrified of realizing how his life depends on you.
"I see him everywhere" You confess in a faint voice, looking at the ground.
"I see Marcus everywhere and I'm terrified that I won't be able to figure out when he's really there and I'm scared of him, and I'm with you and he hates you so much and I'm scared he might hurt you. To you and the others and me.... I just want to erase him from my life but he's everywhere no matter what.
I left him he's everywhere and he'll never stop" Brian pulls you to him without thinking about it, as if months haven't passed, as if not a single day has passed. He squeezes you tight, you melt into tears with your face against his chest, sobbing like a baby.
"I'm sorry for how I behaved"
"Shhh it's okay, it's okay I know, I know don't worry I'm not angry. I swear it's okay"
He kisses your hair, kisses your forehead and every piece of skin he can reach and you've never felt as much at home as with him now.
"Marcus isn't here, and even if he was I wouldn't let him get near you, ever" This is exactly what scares you, but you don't say it, you don't have the strength.
"I don't deserve it" He shakes his head. "No, you don't deserve it. But I would do it anyway, even if you were the worst person on earth. And you're not" You smile as he slides his fingers through your hair.
"I think that Brett and Cruz have abandoned us"
"Actually, I'm kinda cold and I've never finished Galactica you know? " You confess.
He laughs, just moves away from you.
"You're so full of surprises" He fixes your hair and dries your tears with his tumb.
"Wanna go home?" He asks."
"No, I...God I don't know. I...I want to be with you. It doesn't matter where." You reply. You don't wanna rush things. The smile he gives you is priceless, you would spend hours looking at him like this, perhaps all the rest of your life if possible. You only care about him, the way he gazes at you and is so close, the warmth of his skin and the sparkle in his eyes.
I love you, you think.
I love you, Brian.
The realization falls on you like a Boulder. How can you only notice now?
It has always been so clear.
"Oh, seriously?" Laughs Otis "So how about we take a Taxi?" You nod smiling.
"As I said I need to finish Galactica"
"But you hate Galactica"
"But I love you"

Off limits | Leslie Shay | 18+
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Severide!Reader & Kelly Severide x Sister!Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Summary: You meet a girl in a bar, what happens when you find out that she's your brother's best friend?
Warnings: 18+, minors DNI
Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 2k
It has been years since you’ve called Chicago home. You decided to move away from the city after the death of your father, Benny Severide, he was everywhere you looked. Mourning him while being surrounded by everything that reminded you of him was impossibly hard. Your brother Kelly, completely supported your decision and had even helped you move. Now that you had fully processed his death, you thought it was time to move back. You decided to call Kelly on your drive over.
“Hey, sis, what’s up?” He said as he picked up the phone, by the loudness of his surroundings you knew he was on shift. “Is now a good time? I can call back later.” You should’ve known by now that he would make time for you no matter what. “You’re all good.” You stop at a redlight and continue your conversation with your brother. “I’m moving back to Chicago, actually I just started driving.” You could hear the happiness in his voice, “I’m so glad you’ll be closer again. Have you found a place yet?” He asks. “No not yet, I figured I would just stay at a hotel until I find a place.” Kelly was quick to respond, “Don’t be ridiculous, you can stay with me and Shay until you find something.” You hear a muffled voice on the other side of the line and then a response from Kelly, “Otis, stop it, she is my sister!” His next words are aimed at you, “Just so you know, 51 is off limits for dating, understood?” You laughed, “You’ve got it. I’ll see you later, bye Kelly.”
You arrived in Chicago after a couple of hours, you felt like walking around for a while before heading over to the address that your brother texted you. It was good to be back, you had always loved it here. You were nearing the cemetery where your dad was buried, contemplating whether you should go visit his grave, ultimately deciding that you were ready. It was the first time you had been here since the day of the funeral, you noticed that the grave was well kept and fresh flowers were standing in a vase next to the headstone. It did you well knowing that Kelly came to visit him, when you weren’t able to. Your next stop was your favorite bar, you needed a drink after this big step.
The ambiance in the bar was exactly as you remembered it. The string lights on the ceiling, the pictures of the locals on the wall, and the laughter and conversation filling the room. You spot a free chair at the bar and claim it. You order a beer, a burger and some fries. “Here you go.” The bartender hands you your beer, “The food will be out shortly.” You smile and thank him. Sipping on the beer, you look around the bar, you love to people watch and what better location than a busy bar? There was a group of older men playing a card game, the table filled with pints of beers. At the pool table you spotted a group, you assumed to be twenty five years old, playing an intense game of pool. You move on to the next part of the bar where you find a woman your age playing a game of darts with a fifty year old man, your eyes linger on the blonde woman. She throws her last dart and cheers, “You owe me a drink, Frank!” You miss the rest of the interaction as your food gets placed in front of you.
You start on your burger and after a few bites the woman stands next to you at the bar. “A beer, please, and can you add it to Frank’s tab?” The bartender looks over to Frank, after a thumbs up he places a beer in front of her. “Smart way to get free drinks.” You comment. “Right?” The woman laughs. “Mind if I sit with you for a moment?” You pretend to think for a moment. “Depends, will you be tricking me into buying you drinks as well?” You joke. The woman is quick to respond, “Don’t worry, I don’t trick pretty girls into buying me drinks.” She raised her beer to cheers it with you. A small blush reaches your cheeks, “Then please take a seat.” She smiles and takes a seat. “I’m Leslie, by the way.” You shake her hand and introduce yourself as well, “Pleasure to meet you, Leslie, I’m y/n.” She smirks, “The pleasure is all mine.”
The two of you fall into conversation easily. You watch as Leslie takes one of your fries, you don't mind at all, but you think it's funny that she just started eating your food. She realizes your eyes on her and realizes what she did. "Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that without asking you first." You place your hand on her knee, stopping her from rambling. "I don't mind, eat as many as you want." Leslie smiles your way, "Okay, but let me buy you your next drink. Another beer?" You tell her that she doesn't have to buy you a drink in return for eating your fries, but she insists. "Okay, but something non-alcoholic like a club soda or something. I have a feeling this will be an evening that I'd like to remember." You say with a subtle wink. Leslie smirks, and orders "Two club soda's, please."
You have just finished your food when Leslie’s favorite song comes on. “Come dance with me, please. This is my absolute favorite song!” Her enthusiasm pulls you over the edge to say yes. She takes your hand and guides you to the middle of the bar. While keeping hold of your hand she starts dancing around, once again her enthusiasm is contagious and you start dancing with her, the whole crowd at the bar disappears and it’s just you and her jumping around, dancing, and laughing. When the song comes to an end Leslie pulls you close, you’re both still breathing hard from the exercise you just did, but neither of you cared and crashed your lips together. You had been thinking of kissing her since the moment she took the seat next to you at the bar, but nothing you had imagined could amount to her lips actually being on yours. You each got carried away in the moment, but got pulled back to reality by the bar crowd cheering and whistling loudly. You look around the room wide eyed, not having expected so many people to watch you make out with someone. Leslie notices and takes your hand once more, “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
After making sure you’re okay with it, she takes you to her apartment two blocks over. Once inside she takes your hand and guides you to her bedroom. She closes the door and pushes you against it, she wastes no time and starts kissing you again. This time without any crowd interruptions you deepen the kiss and soon your hands are exploring each other's bodies. You unbutton her flannel and drop it to the floor, she does the same to your shirt. Next thing you know she’s laying on top of you in her bed. You weren’t typically one to kiss on a first date, let alone go home with a stranger, but with Leslie it was different. The way she was pleasuring you felt more special, more meaningful than a one night stand. You hoped that she felt the same way. When you were both catching your breath, laying down next to each other, Leslie is quick to let you know that she feels the same way. “Please stay the night. I know we did things kind of backwards but I’d love to take you on a breakfast date in the morning.” You smile wide before kissing her softly, “I’d love that too.”
You’re awoken the next morning by Leslie cuddling into your side. You smile with your eyes still closed and wrap your arm around her, cuddling her back. “Good morning.” She says in a raspy morning voice. You say good morning back and the two of you lay in bed cuddling for a little while longer, until Leslie offers you some coffee. Leslie gets out of bed first and grabs a shirt from the floor and puts it on, she looks down and laughs, “This is yours.” You laugh with her, “It looks good on you. Give me your flannel, please.” Leslie walks out of the room in just the shirt and her underwear, so you follow her lead and leave your pants in the room. You follow her into the kitchen and stand next to her at the counter as she fills two cups with coffee. That’s when you hear a door open somewhere in the apartment, you hadn’t exactly gotten as far as talking about roommates last night. You quickly button up the flannel some more, mentally thanking Leslie for the oversized flannel, covering you until mid-thigh. Nothing could’ve prepared you for the next moment, your brother walked into the kitchen. “Kelly?” You question out loud, confused as to what was happening. “Y/n? What are you  doing here?” Leslie looks confused between the two of you. Kelly walks closer and asks another question before you can even answer the first one. “And why aren’t you wearing any clothes?” He then looks over to Leslie, who is also not wearing enough clothes. “Oh no, no, no. I told you not to date anyone from 51.”
Leslie is starting to connect the dots of Kelly’s sister coming to visit and the two of you knowing each other. A laugh escapes her mouth, but she quickly holds it in as Kelly sends her a stern look. “Just so we’re all clear, I did not know she was your roommate or worked at 51. Actually, thinking about it, you told me your roommate's name was Shay, this is Leslie.” Leslie steps closer to you and extends her hand, you take it with a confused look on her face. “Leslie Shay.” She says the laughter she’s holding is still present on her face. “Y/n Severide.” You say defeated. “Okay, now we’ve got that all figured out, I’m going to put some clothes on. Excuse me.” Leslie goes to follow you but is stopped by Kelly grabbing her arm. “Shay, you’re my best friend but she’s my little sister. I don’t know what your intentions are but if you hurt her..” Leslie stops him before he can finish his sentence. “Look, I don’t know what the future holds but I really like her. I’ve never felt this strongly about a person from the start, she’s special, and my intention was to take her out for breakfast this morning, please join us.” She doesn’t leave room for Kelly to respond and walks to her room. She knocks on the door before entering, she finds you sitting on her bed, staring at the floor. “Hey, it’s okay. He might kill me if I hurt you but I don’t intend on hurting you. He’s just being protective, he’ll be fine.” You take a deep breath, “Yeah, you’re probably right. This just wasn’t at all what I expected this morning.” She sits down next to you on the bed and hugs you tight. “I invited him to join us for breakfast, I hope that’s okay. He can’t be mad over food, trust me.”
She was right, Kelly saw the way the two of you were interacting and his worries for you getting hurt eased. He trusted both you and Shay, you were both adults. You just also happened to be the two people he cared the most about in this world, but maybe that was a good thing, his two favorite people meeting and getting along so well. Kelly insisted on paying for breakfast, despite Leslie’s insisting that she’s got it. Leslie leans into your and whispers, I’ll take you on an actual date next time.

“You look happier.” You confessed, walking up to Kelly before taking a seat next to him at the bar. You knew that the music playing in the background was not loud enough to hide the sadness in your voice. He knew you like the back of his own hand, so you couldn't help but feel a little ashamed by the comment you just made.
"That's because I am." He flashed you a half smile. "I am happier." You couldn't say it didn't hurt you a bit when he confirmed that. You met his smile and stared at him for a while, rearranging the thoughts in your head. You wished it was you. You wished you were the girl that just walked out of the aisle with her arm looped around Kelly's.
"I'm happy for you. Really, I am." You nodded your head, gently squeezing his arm. "I am sorry that things didn't work out between us. But…seeing you here with that big smile on your face made my heart fill with joy. I always wanted you to be happy, Kelly. Even if that means I have to see you getting married to someone else."
Kelly stared at you for a while, not knowing what to say. He could see you were telling him the truth, you really were happy for him, but the look in your eyes told him something else. He could see right through you. You were hurting.
“I heard you’re leaving 51.” He changed the subject, taking a sip from his drink as he looked away. Deep down there was this odd feeling as if he was suddenly doubting the decision he made just an hour ago. He felt that if he kept looking into your eyes for too long he might regret getting married to the person that could've been you. Sometimes he looks at you and asks himself where did it all go wrong.
“Yeah, I'm leaving 51.” You quickly nodded your head, whipping off the tears that were forming in your eyes. “I need a fresh start, you know? I think spending some time away from Chicago might do some good.”
“Away from Chicago or away from me?” Kelly mumbled, his question felt more like a statement. Before you could answer, he shook his head and flashed you a smile. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I think you should do whatever makes you feel better. If staying away from Chicago for a while is the solution, then go for it. I’ll be here for you when you come back.” He gently squeezed your shoulder as his own eyes started to water.
You nodded your head and pressed your lips together, holding back a sob. There was no point in holding back the tears, they were already running down your face as you quietly stood up and grabbed your purse.
Looking back at the party, you saw all of your friends smiling and having fun. Herrmann saw you standing there and quickly made his way toward you, noticing the fresh tears in your eyes. Without saying a word, he grabbed you by the hand and dragged you to the center of the room where all of your friends were drinking and dancing. Everyone from 51 was there, having the time of their life. They would hate you for not saying goodbye.

“You’re gonna get lipstick all over me.”
Tumblr media
Being with Matt Casey meant being his date to all the boring galas. But that also meant being his date to all the boring galas. Which equated to seeing him in either a fancy suit or better yet, his formal uniform that he had to wear as an officer.
And he always just looked so good in them. Seriously, how the hell did he manage to look hotter to you than he did on a normal day? It seemed impossible. Not with how attractive you found him 24/7.
As he stood tucking in his shirt, you put in the earrings you were planning on wearing. Well, more so held one up to your ear and a different one to the other. “Baby, which one?” You turned, holding them both up.
Matt hummed, stepping slightly closer, “Mmm, those ones,” He pointed to the one on your right. You nodded as you turned.
“It’s not too much?”
“Nothing on you is ever too much,” He spoke, looking at you in the mirror, his eyes dragging down slightly. When he raised them back up you lifted an eyebrow to him. “What? I’m not allowed to look at my fiance?” Matt questioned before grabbing his jacket and pulling it on.
As soon as the earrings were in, you turned, pulling him back against you, “Oh you can look as much as you want.” You spoke, not having to lift up for once since the heels you had on added the few inches that nearly evened out the height difference between the two of you.
He attempted to look at you over his shoulder, your arms tightly around him as you peppered just a couple kisses to his neck. “You’re gonna get lipstick all over me.” He muttered, unable to fight off the way just the simplest touch of yours made his entire body shutter.
You shook your head, pressing a firmer one just behind his jaw. “It washes off,” You joke, circling him with your hold just as tight. “Promise,” A wide grin on your face. Matt raised his eyebrows to you as he nodded.
“Hope so, don’t need the chief seeing your lipstick marks.”
“You are very lucky we have to leave or I would leave plenty more in many, many other places.” You grabbed the front of his jacket, pulling it shut. “But that's for later on.” You smirked before stepping back.
Matt sucked in a breath, shaking his head, fully aware that for at least 75% of the night he was going to be thinking about what you said and very heavily what they were insinuating. Which he truthfully did not mind.
He bit his tongue before huffing. “Oh two can play at this game, y/n.”
“Meaning?”
“You’ll see.”

a ring to prove it
Tumblr media
Summary - She didn’t know if it was because of the wait since the last time they had been together or if it was the addition of the ring on her finger and the promises of a future together. Whatever it was, it had been hours and she was still tingling. She was back in Matt Casey’s arms and couldn’t be happier.
Notes - a little post 11x22 fic, happy reading! ❤️ AO3 Link
His breathing was steady, his heart rate had calmed from their exertions hours ago and he was peacefully asleep. But she was awake. Her head was resting on his chest, his arms tight around her even in his dreams, her fingers were tracing patterns in his skin remembering the expanses of muscle she had memorised those months before.
Being back in his arms was more than she had ever thought she would experience again. Somewhere along the line she had forgotten just how Matt Casey made her feel. What he made her feel by just being in his presence yes but also how he loved her. She had never fallen as hard off the proverbial cliff as she did when Matt had his hands or tongue on her, when he was inside her. She hadn’t been with anyone that way since she had ended them by a phone call. A phone call she both regretted and knew was the right thing at that moment.
Dylan was nice enough but he didn’t make her want to rip her clothes off the way Matt did. And any pleasure she had given herself even when they were together, it was Matt’s name that passed through her lips when she finished. It was his eyes she saw staring back at her when she closed her eyes.
And last night had been nothing short of mind blowing. She didn’t know if it was because of the wait since the last time they had been together or if it was the addition of the ring on her finger and the promises of a future together. Whatever it was, it had been hours and she was still tingling.
When she opened the door the day before and was greeted by the sight of Matt Casey on the other side, the last thing she had expected was for him to drop down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
‘Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids the luckiest family in the world and marry me?’
She had clutched at her chest, staring at the man she had wished for so long would do exactly what he was doing now and ask her to spend her life with him. She could see the ring shining in the box but her gaze was fixed directly on him, on his eyes, his smile.
She nodded, how could she do anything else but say yes. This was exactly what she had dreamed of.
‘Yes,’ she said, the tears spilling down her cheeks as Matt’s grin spread wider across his cheeks. She dropped to her knees in front of him, pulling his face to hers and melding their lips together. Her salty tears mingled in the kiss but she didn’t care, she had just said yes to marrying Matt Casey. They were going to be a family. Her, Matt, Ben, Griffin and Julia. Her family.
She let her fingers thread through his hair, it was slightly shorter than it had been at the wedding - the last time she had kissed him. His arms wound tightly around her waist, pulling her close to him from their slightly awkward position kneeling in front of each other.
‘Yes,’ she said in between kisses, ‘yes.’ She felt him grin against her lips and let herself get lost in the familiar sensation of his against hers. It was only when she felt her phone vibrating in the back pocket of her overalls she pulled away.
‘It’s Hermann,’ she said, her lips still swollen from the kiss but she hadn’t been expecting Hermann to call. ‘I better get this,’ Matt nodded, the smile not leaving his face and his arms didn’t relax his hold on her either. She didn’t make an attempt to move away from him as she swiped and answered the call.
Sylvie didn’t think either of them expected to be called to the hospital before Matt even had a chance to slide the ring onto her finger but he had pocketed the box as soon as she had ended the call having heard everything Hermann had said and said he would drive, wrapping her hand in his and leading her out to the car.
The car ride to the hospital was silent, the tears silently streaming down her face that had started as tears of joy were now ones of pain and worry. Matt kept a tight hold of her hand all the way to Med and she was grateful she had him to lean on as neither of them knew what to expect when they arrived. Hermann had sounded scared on the phone, he had tried to tell her he was sure Mouch would be okay but his voice had cracked and Sylvie’s heart had sunk. Mouch couldn’t be dying, she refused to even entertain the idea.
‘I think we shouldn’t tell them,’ she whispered into the silence of the car. ‘About us.’
Matt nodded. ‘I agree, this isn’t the moment.’ He held on a little tighter for the reminder of the journey, her own knuckles were going white at the pressure she was applying back on his.
He went to let go of her hand when they entered but Sylvie couldn’t bring herself to unlink their fingers, she needed him right now, needed the feeling of his warm skin against hers to ground her or else she might lose it. Her words to Matt had originally meant that she thought they should keep the fact they were back together underwraps but the further they walked into the hospital, she realised she just meant the engagement. She couldn’t let go of his hand right now. Wouldn’t let go of it.
No one commented on them walking in together hand in hand, no one said anything at all. The waiting room was eerily silent, their friends scattered around, heads in hands, staring at walls, silently crying. Matt and her joined them, finding two empty chairs and settling down next to Stella. Sylvie reached across and wrapped her other arm around the Lieutenant’s shoulder. No matter how many times they sat in hospital waiting rooms whilst one of their own was hurt - it never got any easier.
Sylvie didn’t know long they sat there, waiting for someone to bring them news. The waiting room was deep in the middle of the hospital with no windows, hours could have passed or it could have been mere minutes before a doctor in black scrubs came out and gave them the news they had been holding their breaths for.
‘He’s going to be okay,’ he said and Sylvie felt like the elephant that had been sitting on her chest constricting her breathing was finally removed. She leant into Matt’s side and let him wrap his arms around her pulling her safely into his chest.
Mouch was going to be okay. And she was going to marry Matt Casey.
——————————————————————————
On the way back to hers from the hospital, Mouch having kicked them all out saying he wasn’t having Chicago’s best sleeping in a waiting room if they didn’t need to, the air was lighter in the car.
‘Did you tell the boys?’ Sylvie wondered aloud.
‘Ben and Griffin?’ Matt clarified. ‘I did.’ He chuckled. ‘They were very excited at even the possibility of us getting back together. Pretty much pushed me out of the house to the airport when I said I was going to propose.’
Sylvie felt her cheeks redden. She had had no issues bonding with Griffin but it had taken time before Ben opened up to her but she had understood. His life hadn’t been easy and enough people had already let him down, he didn’t want to risk getting hurt again. The prospect of them both being back in her life, that they both wanted her back in their lives warmed her heart.
‘I told them about Julia too,’ Matt added with a small smile, glancing across at her as they pulled to a stop at a traffic light.
‘You did?’ Sylvie asked slightly shocked but pleasantly so.
‘Called them once you got the news, it felt right to let them know,’ Matt shrugged.
‘And they were happy about it?’ Sylvie was worried the addition of someone else into their family bubble could cause issues, especially for Ben.
‘Said they were going to spoil her rotten,’ Matt chuckled. ‘Ben said he would teach her how to mountain bike when she’s old enough - it’s his current favourite thing.’
They really were going to be a family, all of them together.
——————————————————————————
Matt stirred awake, groaning slightly as he was brought back into consciousness, his muscles contracting under Sylvie’s touch.
‘Morning,’ he said groggily, smiling down at where she had turned her focus to look up at him from her position on his chest.
‘Good morning,’ she whispered, reaching up to press her lips against his before relaxing back into his hold.
‘I could hear your mind working in my dreams,’ Matt said, stroking his fingers against the bare skin of her hip.
‘Mmm’ she hummed in response.
‘Want to share with the room?’ He asked and she smiled, pressing her face against his chest.
‘I was just thinking about our life,’ she admitted, with anyone else she would have blushed at her words but not with Matt. He always made her feel safe enough to speak truthfully, provided her the space to be exactly who she wanted to be without fear of judgement. She’d not always been so lucky in her past relationships.
Harrison hadn’t really wanted Sylvie Brett, he’d wanted the wife he thought he could mould Sylvie into being. He disliked everything about her that made her her. All the bright and caring aspects that made her who she was. He just wanted her to bend to his wishes and give up everything in her life that she cared about.
Antonio, goodness knows what he had wanted but it wasn’t what she had wanted. That was a relationship doomed to fail from the start, something she thought both of them had luckily realised before it got too late.
Kyle wanted a preacher's wife, he thought he was giving her what she wanted - space away from Chicago after her accident. But that wasn’t her either. She was a Chicago girl now, and that was where she belonged.
But Matt, Matt wanted her exactly how she was, all the blemishes and flaws along with the shiny and good. He supported her through everything, had been her number one cheerleader even before they had realised how they felt about each other. His heart was everything good and Sylvie loved him for it.
‘It's going to be a beautiful life,’ Matt said, bringing up the hand not wrapped around hers to run his fingers over the ring that now graced her left hand.
‘What time is your flight?’ She asked quietly. They’d spoken about him going back to Oregon in between rounds last night when their skin was still tacky with sweat, their legs refusing to untangle themselves.
‘I have to go back to Oregon tomorrow,’ he said into the quiet night air. ‘But only to wrap things up,’ he tightened his hold on her, one hand continuing to trail up and down her bare back. ‘It should only take a couple of weeks.’
‘Okay,’ Sylvie muttered. She knew he wanted to be back in Chicago as much as she wanted him back, he had shown her how much just a moment ago.
‘I agreed with CFD to start teaching at the academy in 6 weeks, they know I want back in the action but teaching will do until they can find me a house,’ he said, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
‘I’ll take you to the airport tomorrow,’ Sylvie said. This wouldn’t be like last time. They had a plan this time. He was coming back to her, he was going to marry her.
‘I think it’s just past midday,’ Matt said and Sylvie chuckled at his vagueness. ‘I’ll check when this beautiful woman lets me out of her bed,’ he said in mock offence at her laugh.
‘I can let you out now if you’d like,’ Sylvie sassed, making a move to untangle herself but Matt groaned and pulled her back against his chest.
‘Never,’ he murmured as he peppered her face with kisses and her soft giggles filled the room.
‘I’ll call you as soon as I land,’ he said as the pair settled back into their embrace, the covers pooling around their waists as his movements had shifted them slightly.
‘Okay,’ she said, resuming tracing patterns against his chest.
‘When will Julia arrive?’ He asked curiously.
‘I think a couple of days,’ Sylvie admitted. ‘Although Amber took back custody, there’s still papers to sign. You know how it is with the DFS.’
‘You’re going to give her the most beautiful life Sylvie,’ Matt murmured against her hair.
‘We are,’ Sylvie corrected him. Although technically she was doing this alone and it was her name on the paperwork, she wanted Matt by her side every step of the way. And she knew he was all in. ‘We are going to have the most wonderful family.’
‘We are,’ Matt said, his words reminiscent of when she had finally admitted her feelings to him in the middle of the night out on the North Apron.
‘We will have the most incredible life, all of us together.’
‘We will.’
‘And we have each other. Forever. We are it for each other.’
‘We are,’ Matt repeated.
Sylvie wasn’t looking forward to saying goodbye to him in just a few hours, but she knew this goodbye would be their last. When he returned, it would be for good. They would be together. She had a ring on her finger to prove it.
