pt.2
sorry not sorry hehe
Tumblr media
“Give me a hug?” you ask patiently in front of Otis who was in the middle of reading a book in the common room.
You feel everyone’s eyes watch you after your bold request but you don’t care because your eyes don’t once leave Otis. He looks up after a few seconds and glances around the room before standing up.
“Course.” is all he says while wrapping his arms around your torso as your arms find their place behind his neck. Taking a deep breath in you inhale his signature cologne and close your eyes.
This is your happy place. Right in his arms. You figured this out early on in your relationship, every time you have a bad day, or a bad shift, all you have to do is ask Otis for a hug and it helps for the time being. Of course everyone else was judgy in the beginning but now it’s apart of everyone’s routine.
They walk in, get a cup of coffee, get some breakfast, either get a call or sit and watch TV for a little bit, then you ask Otis for a hug, and the day continues.
After a few seconds you step a way and give him a smile. “Thanks,” is all you say before walking back out to the app floor to which he responds with a nod and sits back down to continue reading.
A few hours later Otis comes to find you sitting on the back of the ambulance and stands between your separated legs.
“Hi” is all you say as he grabs your hands and holds them gently.
“Hey, what do you want for dinner tonight?” He asks while lazily grazing the back of your hands with each of his thumbs while looking into your eyes.
“Umm, anything is fine what were you thinking?”
“Ah, spaghetti?”
“Do we have stuff for spaghetti?”
“Shit you’re right. We haven’t gone to the store.” He drops his head back in irritation which makes you giggle.
“I can go tonight when we get off.”
“No, no, no, it’s been a rough shift and I just wanted you to relax, you shouldn’t have to go to the store.”
“But you don’t like going and I can be really fast.” You say wiggling your eyebrows in amusement to appease his protest.
After a few seconds of mutual giggling he squints his eyes and makes the exact request you specifically forbid last night.
“What if we just order in?”
You give Otis a ‘seriously’ look before you just gave in and nodded your head.
“Yes! I can order in from that one Thai place you like!” He says cheerfully.
“Okay, but this is the last night then we’re not ordering in for a month.” You say strictly solely because the two of you have ordered in too many times in the last 3 weeks and you both need a cleanse.
“Scout’s honor.” He says holding up three fingers which makes you giggle.
“C’mere” is all you say while pulling him closer meeting your lips with his.
The kiss was slow and sweet so after a few seconds when he tries to back away you pull him in again and place 3 seperate quick pecks on his lips before you truly pull away.
“Otis! Come help!” You hear Cruz yell for your boyfriend and you roll your eyes. By the tone of Joe’s voice you know he’s only calling after Otis for something stupid like to break a tie in a game or something.
“Catch you later?” Is all Otis says with a raised eyebrow as you watch him walk away back to the common room.
You continue watching him walk away but your heart feels heavy and you don’t like that.
“Wait!” you shout as you catch up with a now stopped Otis who turned around confused wondering what the matter is.
“Give me a hug.” Is all you ask standing barely a foot a way from your boyfriend who now is the one to give you the ‘seriously’ face.
You raise your eyebrows and open your arms impatiently as he playfully rolls his eyes and picks you up into a big bear hug spinning you around saying “You are so demanding you know that right?”
Once he sets you down with his hands resting on your hips, the statement he said finally sunk in making your heart drop.
“I love you, моя любовь (my love)” Is all he says while pulling you into a real hug and squeezing you gently.
You exhale deeply while closing your eyes and thinking about what he said. The hug provides little to no effect as to what it normally does and you pull away unsatisfied. Does he really think you’re demanding?
“I love you too…” Is your only response after a few seconds watching him walk back into the firehouse.
The rest of the night went smoothly as you tried to push his perception of you out of your mind but when you layed in bed that night you reflected. As you were remembering all the times you asked for a hug, or anything for that matter, you never said please. You were never nice or polite. Always demanding. So when you were thinking about your next shift, you decided you would no longer demand anything from him. Even if it made your heart twinge as you thought about no more hugs unless he initiated them, it was for the best. He doesn’t deserve to be with someone who wasn’t going to respect what he wanted or felt, so you were no longer making any demands.
During your next shift Ambulance 61 was immediately sent out onto a call to which you quickly found out that the patient was DOA. Since you missed breakfast you arrived back at 51 at about the time you would ask for your first hug which made your heart hurt, but when you stepped into the common room you walked right past Otis got a cup of coffee, and walked right back out.
No one really said anything, It’s not like you were avoiding Otis or that the two of you had some crazy tension, you just skipped the fact that you would ask him for a hug. Now to distract yourself you took yourself out to the ambulance to restock and repack anything you needed.
But about an hour later suspicions started to rise.
“Is it just me or does it feel like I forgot to do something today?” Herrmann questioned out to which majority in the room agreed.
“I mean I wouldn’t say I forgot to do something but I definitely feel like something is missing…” Gabby said in response as they all thought about what they could have missed in their normal routine.
“Oh! has someone checked to see if the milk is expired?” Cruz asks as he made his way to the fridge.
“No, that doesn’t seem like that’s it Cruz.” Otis said in response to his best friend.
“When was the last time we put gas in the trucks?” Lieutenant Casey asked taking a sip of his coffee.
“On the last call,” Herrmann said back.
“Is it anyone’s birthday today?” Gabby asked knowing that’s probably the one thing they’ve all forgotten.
“No, I just checked the calendar and there’s nothing for today.” Casey then said in response.
“Well I’m stumped.” Severide said as he flipped the page in his newspaper since he really didn’t care that much in the first place.
A few people chuckled at his nonchalance towards the matter then sat in an anxious silence as to what could they have all forgotten.
“It’s not expired guys!” Cruz finally said out to no one in particular to which no one in particular replied.
“Wait guys, It’s 10:34…” Mouch said as everyone looked at him confused because what significance does 10:34 hold?
“10:34?” Stella asked in response confused.
“It’s 10:34, and you know what hasn’t happened? Y/LN asking Otis for her daily hug.” Mouch stated as a matter of factly.
Herrmann scrunched his face thinking if that was what hadn’t happened today but it didn’t really click.
“Really?” Herrmann said doubtfully.
“Yeah, It makes perfect sense. Y/N always comes and asks Otis for a hug between 9:45 am and 10:00 am. Always on the dot one way or another, even with unexpected calls and stuff it happens everyday.” Mouch says trying to convince everyone.
Otis sat in his seat thinking about what Mouch was saying and it made perfect sense. Thats what hadn’t happened today.
“Mouch, I mean I wouldn’t get to worked up over that, she probably forgot and will probably come in here sometime soon and ask.” Herrmann said trying to come up with a reason as to why it hasn’t happened.
“No, Mouch is right. She doesn’t just “forget”. It’s happened everyday in that time frame for the whole time I’ve worked here, and that’s like 9 months now.” Stella said halfway at Herrmann and halfway at Otis.
“Otis what’d you do man?” Gabby says as a joke which obviously shook Otis because he sat in his spot white as a ghost.
“I didn’t do anything I don’t think. But Mouch is right, there has not been a day I haven’t given her that hug between that time frame for like years now.” Otis said rubbing his chin worriedly.
“Hey man, I wouldn’t worry too much about it okay? She’ll be in here on her own time to ask for that hug.” Herrmann says lightly tapping Otis on the arm and walking towards the kitchen.
“No, I’d be worried. Did you forget to do the dishes? Because that’s what Trudy messes regular routines up for, you know one time..”
“Mouch! Leave the kid alone it’ll happen.” Herrmann says in a warning tone at Mouch who put his hands up in surrendering manner.
“I’ll bet you $50 that you should be worried Otis.” Cruz said in a not helping tone at both Otis and Herrmann.
“$150 he’ll be fine.” Herrmann says back.
“$200-“
“Stop! I’m just gonna go talk to her now okay?” Otis said standing up from the table in the common room when at the same time the bell rang.
“Ambulance 61, GSW”
“I guess not.” Otis said sitting back down and sighing.
“Better start figuring out what you did,” Casey said lightly squeezing Otis’ shoulder and giving him a shit eating grin.
Pressing his lips into a line Otis began thinking of the night before…

“Imagine how I good I’d feel inside you.” + “I didn’t know you were like this.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being with Brian was probably the easiest thing you’d ever done. Easily. He was kind, and gentle, and loving. Just overall a sweet charmer. Working together meant a lot of your time together was spent on calls.
And today had been intense, a helicopter crashing because of a couple of boys flying a drone was not something either of you expected from the shift but regardless of working on different companies, you and Brian saved a lady’s life.
And god did he look good doing it. No seriously, seriously, if it wasn’t the life or death situation of a lady you would have been ogling over him the entire time, but you know, professionalism and all. Regardless, the way he took control over all of it? Knew what he was doing?
Hot. Just so extremely, extremely hot. And it had been on your mind all day. Especially now as you were in the passenger seat of his car on your way to his place. It was difficult keeping your thoughts to yourself, but part of you worried that he’d be, weirded out? That you were turned on by him just doing his job.
So you sat, legs pressed together and your hand innocently in his. Even now as he drove your eyes shifted up from where you two were connected, over his arm, his partially covered bicep that now out of his uniform was only covered by the short sleeve of his button up, and over his face.
“I can feel you staring.” Brian spoke suddenly, glancing over without as much as a turn of his head. Instantly your cheeks went red, turning away from him with a shake of the head.
“I- No, I was just, admiring.” You blubbered out, shifting slightly. Getting caught looking was one thing but getting caught looking because you were having a million and one thoughts of him on top of you was embarrassing to say the least.
Brian turned his head to you briefly, “Mhm, well stop doing that. Hair on the back of my neck is standing up. Tickles,” He chuckled faintly, squeezing your hand. He was very obviously kidding but still, you turned your eyes to look out the window
If you didn’t look at him then maybe you’d be able to control yourself. Except when you got home and he instantly fell onto the couch with his shoes kicked off, you couldn’t help looking over him.
This time your lingering gaze was not ignored, Brian twisting to look right back at you, “If you’re gonna stare, at least do so over here so I can hold onto you while you do,” He muttered, his hand stretching out lazily.
You sucked in a deep breath before walking over to him. “Maybe I want to admire you from afar.” You teased, grabbing onto his hand. The warmth of his palm made you sigh, instantly being drawn towards him.
“You could but,” Brian yanked your arm just slightly, pulling you onto his lap. “I couldn’t do this,” He smiled, eyes sliding over your face. With your legs around him, you bit your lip, shrugging just slightly.
It took nearly everything inside of you to not grind down against him, instead putting your arms over his shoulders, one hand slipping into his hair. “Hm, you’re right. I like this,” You grinned, feeling his hands sliding up your thighs. “Yeah, like this a lot.”
Slowly you leaned forward, pressing your lips to him, giving up on whatever control you had over yourself. Brian was just too damn intoxicating and you couldn’t ignore it anymore. Apparently he was on the same page though, his grip going to your hips just tightly enough to push you down against him.
A soft groan rumbled through you, repeating the motion, this time without any outside force needed. As soon as you pulled back his lips were on your neck – hot open mouthed kisses going across your skin. “God I’ve wanted this all day,” You muttered out, tugging just slightly at his hair.
The tickle of his mustache always made you squirmy, that on top of the annoyance in your pants made you rock down against him steadily, not caring how needy it made you look. “All day?” Brian muttered, pushing your shirt off your shoulder.
“Well, since,” A moan cut you off as he sucked a mark onto your collarbone. “Since that helicopter call.” You weren’t going to say anything but as soon as it came out, his hands slid up your sides, one staying splayed out on your back.
Brian’s eyebrow lifted, confused on how you decided you wanted him like this on a call of all places. “The helicopter call?” He questioned, tucking stray strands of hair off of your face. Softly you hummed in response, scratching just slightly at his scalp.
“Mhm, watching you take everything apart, and lifting it. I don’t really know. Did something to me.” You burned red as you admitted it to him. He instantly shifted to grab the bottom of your shirt, pulling it up and off of you.
The sudden coldness of the room made you suck in a breath, his lips immediately connecting to your chest. You held him to your chest, the growing bulge in his jeans giving you more friction, his hands grabbing wherever they could.
Your sides, hips, thighs, ass. Everywhere. If he could touch you everywhere all at once he would. “You know,” You breathed out, looking down at him. “When I first met you, I didn’t know you were like this.”
Honestly, meeting young Brian Zvonecek his first year on truck was crazy. He was a goofy guy. His hair was still unruly, he’d gotten better at styling it now but you liked it before either way. He’d filled out his uniform nicely, again, not that you weren’t infatuated from first sight but it was more so the growing together that got you. And you were thankful for that daily.
Brian’s hands went back up your thighs, squeezing as they did. “Yeah, and I didn’t know I was like this, either. And I thought you were shy when I first met you... Now look at you, huh?” He always did manage to have a sort of cocky attitude when he had you like this. Which, lucky for him, was pretty often.
You left out a soft whimper at his tone, biting your lip. Brian reached up more, moving to unbutton your jeans, looking up at you. Easily you shifted enough to get them off, not caring that you were just in your underwear and bra, not when his eyes hungrily grazed over you.
Your fingers found the clasp of his belt and button of his jeans, looking over his face, “You’re overdressed for the occasion.” You leaned forward into his ear, whispering softly. Without any hesitation, he shifted you off of him, standing to shove off his pants, the buckle hitting the floor with a clang.
No matter how many times you saw his body it alway, always made you want him more than you originally did. Though, watching the button up hit the floor was always a bit upsetting, you always loved them. Especially this one, red, birds all over it. He was wearing it the first time he fingered you so it always brought back memories to say the least.
As soon as he was sat back on the couch, the only thing covering him being his boxers, he reached his hand out again. Easily you crawled back onto his lap, lips crushed together the second you could.
Every movement together made him groan, his hands reaching around to finally unclasp the bra that covered your chest. As soon as it joined the other clothes on the floor, he slid his hands up your chest, cupping each breast in his hands.
Your back involuntarily arched towards him, his fingers tweaking your nipples as you did. A low groan bubbled in the back of your throat, bucking your hips down against him. “God Bri, you feel so good.” Each word was mumbled but he understood each of them, his mouth coming up to your ear.
He pressed a kiss right under it, still feeling you up, “Imagine how good I’d feel inside of you.” The words came out before he could even think them over, the pure lust and horniness front and foremost in his mind.
Neither of you were even sure what to say, you out of pure shock at his confidence and how much that turned you on and him out of slight embarrassment. Regardless it went away within seconds, you shifting onto your back and pulling him on top of you.
“Say that again.” You muttered, craning your head up to kiss his neck. He shook his head slightly, going to decline. “Brian, that was one of the hottest things I’ve ever heard come out of your mouth. Say it again.”
That was enough to spark something inside of him, his fingers walking up the inside of your thigh, “Well in that case, I said, imagine how good I’d feel inside of you.” His index finger danced along the top of your underwear, agonizingly slow over the exact spot you actually wanted him, your eyes hooded as he looked over you.
Impatiently you tried to lift into him, his touch pulling away as you did. He kneeled back onto his knees, fingers racing up to loop over the band. As always, he hesitated, waiting for a sure nod and yes before doing anything. “Go ahead,” You spoke firmly with a nod, already lifting your hips up for him to remove the last layer of your clothing.
Brian pulled them off, his hands going right back to the upper most part of your thighs. Gently he nudged one of your legs around him, propped up under one of the pillows on the couch. “I ever tell you how beautiful you are?” He muttered, trailing a finger through your folds, collecting as much of your arousal as he could.
You nodded quickly, your hands balled into fists to try and keep yourself still for him. Not that he was much of a tease, not on days like this. He was always the type to give you just what you wanted, it was in his blood. He was a pleaser. And boy did he please.
So it was no surprise how quickly and easily he pressed his middle finger into you, curling it up like he had done this a million times. Your eyes glazed over his body, trickling down to where he moved his digit inside of you. “Fuck, Brian,” His name practically dripped the same way you were out of you.
He watched how you reacted to each movement, slipping his ring finger in as soon as your hips bucked up, unable to stay still anymore. Every pump made a disgusting squelch but he was hitting the exact spot, your hand coming up to grab onto his arm.
“Just- just like that,” You groaned out, nodding tightly. There was an attempt to keep your eyes on him. Really, but as soon as you started to clench around him and the outer edge of your vision went white, you scrunched your eyes closed.
Brian slowly slowed inside of you, making sure to ride you out of the high entirely before he leaned over you, making a show of licking over his fingers. “For someone so gorgeous, you taste just as good.” He spoke, leaning down to kiss you before you could even say anything back.
Granted no words were even coming to your mind, just overwhelmed with the pulsing in between your legs. That and the bulge that was still hidden away. You reached between the two of you, palming at him.
“I think these should come off.” You sighed out, him kissing your cheek, and then jaw before sitting back like he had before, this time discarding his boxers. Instantly you felt yourself clench around nothing, always a mess for him. “God, please fuck me.” You muttered, more so under your breath and to yourself but not unheard to the man above you.
“Trust me. I plan to,” He hummed, sliding his fingers through your mess, using the wetness to get himself ready, not that he wasn’t already completely swollen and dripping his own precum. You whined faintly, sensitive to the touch as you tried to push closer to him.
He leaned down, kissing your lower stomach before gently sliding inside of you. Your mouth gaped open as he did, your hand once again found his arm, wrapping around his forearm. Slowly he started to thrust into you, planting himself on either side of your head.
Your gaze would have stayed on his face if you weren’t distracted by the way his bicep tightened as he held himself up. And you were sure if you could see the way his back muscles looked right now, you’d be a complete and utter mess. Well, more so than you already were.
“This what you wanted from me all day?” Brian noted the way your eyes were locked on his arm. “For me to be on top of you like this?” His hips snapped up, the usually gentle man unable to help how turned on he was.
Having someone be so attracted to him that they were thinking about him at work? When they weren’t being all coupley at home? When he was just, being Otis? Just being Brian? It worked its way into his mind and each hit into you was enough proof you needed of that.
Your eyes went back up to his face, eyebrows pulled together as you nodded, “Yes, god, yes it was.” You moaned out, the way your mouth hung open the perfect chance for Brian to run his thumb over your bottom lip.
“How bad?” You didn’t answer right away, making him lean closer to you. “How badly did you want me to fuck you while we were at work?” He repeated, his palm pushed to the side of your face, holding you there.
The knot in your stomach was already tightening, everything about how he was acting simply sent you over. “So bad baby,” You whined, “So so bad.” A breath caught in your throat as you dug your nails into his skin.
Before you could give warning, your back lifted, electricity running throughout your entire body as you tightly clenched around him. “Bri-” His name didn’t even come out louder than a squeak as he kept his pace up, chasing his own release.
It wasn’t far behind yours, the man only stilling with a groan as he came, filling all of you up. Your eyes locked on one another, his thumb lightly gracing your cheek. Once you’d both pulled yourselves together he leaned down to grab his boxers, putting them underneath you before pulling out.
That was the only thing that kept your mess from getting onto the furniture but he leaned down, peppering soft kisses over your face, the hair above his lip making your nose scrunch up. He waited a couple moments before pressing a long and firm kiss to your lips. “You alright?” Brian made sure to question, taking your soft nod as a good enough answer.
Slowly he stood, grabbing onto your hands to help you up and into the bathroom. “Here, go to the bathroom, I’ll start a bath for you and go clean up okay?” His voice was soft, planting a gentle kiss to your forehead as you sat on the toilet.
Without another word he turned the water on to get warm before disappearing from the room, reappearing a couple minutes later with a new set of clothes for both of you nicely folded. “You want help getting in?” Brian offered, gingerly taking your hand to help you stand and step into the bathtub.
The two of you sat there for a bit, Brian washing your hair for you while leaving more and more kisses over your shoulders and the back of your neck. Once you were out, dry and clothed, the two of you moved to his bed, his arms wrapped around you.
Slightly you shifted to face him, placing your hand on the side of his face, “Can I tell you a secret?” You asked, a smile fighting to grow on your face. He nodded instantly, mumbling an ‘always’ under his breath. “I love you.”
A blush crossed his cheeks as he thought for a second. “Can I tell you a secret?” He countered, raising his eyebrows together. With a giggle you nodded, already knowing what was going to be said.
“I love you too.”

“Are you trying to get us in trouble?” Otis whispered, after allowing you to pull off his t-shirt in one quick motion, dropping it by the shower drain as you planted your lips firmly on the nape of his neck.
You said nothing, instead grazing your teeth gently over his protruding collarbones, in a way that had a shudder rattle up his body and escape into the air, making you smile smugly to yourself as you always did like to bask in the way you made him feel.
“You're not worried, are you baby? That someone might catch us in here?” You whispered, the heat of your breath puffing over his skin in a way that gave him goosebumps as your mouth worked its way back up, your hands running equally as slow up the length of his muscular arms.
“No.” Otis scoffed out, ignoring the slight touch of worry deep in the pit of his stomach over the very idea of getting caught. He swallowed thickly, pushing those nerves down further as he wrapped his arms tightly around your waist, angling his head a little to allow you better access to his neck. “I just don’t want anyone seeing parts of you that only I get to see.”
“Is that so?” You chuckled, guiding your mouth all the way towards his ear, pressing kisses over every inch of him that you could before you reached your destination, tugging gently on his lobe in a way that had him huff out a breath before you whispered. “Well perhaps I’d be better suited pinned to the wall, that way… No one will be able to see much should they find us.”
In one quick motion, you found yourself pressed up against the shower wall, your legs wrapped tightly around Otis’s waist as he held you in place. Your arms wrapped around his neck, fingers threading through the softness of his hair as he kissed you like a starving man, with such intense heat that it felt like there was steam in the air and yet there was no water to be seen.
“There… Now no one will see you.” Otis breathed out, taking your lips in his again as he rocked his hips against yours, a soft whine escaping the back of your throat as that hardness beneath his pants. “But that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to hear you.”

comforting them after a bad day [ chicago fire ]
⋯ CHARACTERS ; matt casey, kelly severide, leslie shay, sylvie brett, stella kidd, brian ‘otis’ zvonecek, joe cruz, christoper herrmann, violet mikami, evan hawkins, greg grainger
Tumblr media
⋯ MATT CASEY
when matt has experienced a bad day, he tends to get very quiet. sometimes even a little snippy whenever he’s asked if he’s alright. he recognizes that acting this way isn’t going to make his day any better, but it takes his a little bit. let him clam down, and once he’s done that, he’ll seek you out. quietly apologize for being snippy, and telling you that he’s just had a bad day. you can ask him how his day was -- he’ll tell you everything and at some point, slowly wraps his arms around you and leans his head atop your shoulder. inhaling your scent immediately calms him and he’s already starting to feel better
⋯ KELLY SEVERIDE
kelly tends to let everything build up. almost insisting he is fine and there’s nothing to truly worry about. and no matter how much you push, he’ll maintain the same story. until something just absolutely breaks him and everything that he’s kept bottled up for month finally comes pouring out. he’ll cry -- more of his eyes tearing up as he refuses to let them fall. but he practically falls into your grasp as you pull him into a hug. it’s really all he needs, just the comfort of having you near him as he talks about different things and lays his heart out on the table. card your fingers through his hair and just tell him that ‘it’s gonna be okay’. that’s all he needs for now
⋯ LESLIE SHAY
leslie, much like kelly, can be stubborn when it comes to talking about any bad days. however, she’s different as she’ll give one of the briefest overviews -- almost as if she’s giving a report, and then insist that she’s fine. all of her emotions comes out when she drinks, and you can tell she was anything but fine, considering the amount of drinks she’s already had. she’ll crumble into your arms, looking for your warmth as she begins to babble about her day and everything she was feeling. she’ll cling to you, but it’s truly something she needs as you’ve noticed her start to calm the longer and tighter you hold her
⋯ SYLVIE BRETT
sylvie will seek out comfort after a bad day. honestly, any type of comfort will help, but if given the option, she wants to spend her time cuddled into your side with her head resting either against your shoulder or chest. she doesn’t talk much about her day -- only just to tell you that it wasn’t one she would want to experience again before eventually falling asleep. she feels better with you, nothing you have to do aside from allowing her to cuddle up to you
⋯ STELLA KIDD
stella gets all quiet and short tempered. it almost takes you by surprise, until she makes a comment about her day. to which you ask her what she needs -- as she often wants different things depending on what had taken place. and once she makes her request, you’re dropping everything to do it. often, her go-to answer is to ask to be held in some way. honestly whichever way is comfortable for the two of you at the time.
⋯ BRIAN ‘OTIS’ ZVONECEK
brian is going to get super quiet after a bad day. meaning that whatever had taken place, must have really hit him hard. like most of the others, he will seek you out almost immediately. he needs comfort and wants to decompress from what he experienced for the day. kiss away his tears, hold him tight -- he’ll take literally any form of comfort so long as you are willing to give the time
⋯ JOE CRUZ
joe takes a lot of things to heart, and while he’s been able to keep himself from taking each thing he wasn’t able to do so personally, there are times in which he can’t help but feel that. especially after a bad day. he’ll seek you out, looking for some comfort as he gets the day off his chest. he’ll immediately wrap you up in his arms, tucking his face into your shoulder. he won’t talk about it right away, wanting to see you and tell himself that seeing you is better than any bad day he’s experienced. and while he’ll come clean about his day eventually, he’s just wanting to spend as much time with you as possible
⋯ CHRISTOPHER HERRMANN
christopher tends to get angry -- never directed towards one person, just as his frustration of the day grows, it gathers to a point where he may explode and accidentally take his anger out on the closest person. he realizes that mistake literally seconds later and calms down immediately. taking a few deep breaths before sitting down to tell you. he finds comfort in your touch and will show you by kissing your knuckles before apologizing. he’ll spend the night making it up to you, and in turn, it helps him settle in and finally gain some closure for the day
⋯ VIOLET MIKAMI
violet will put on a brave face and will power through the rest of her shift until she can have a moment to decompress. which is usually once she gets home and she can let her emotions out about her bad day. depending on the scale, there will be tears and she’ll hold onto you tightly as she lets it all out. she wants to be with you, and most likely won’t be getting up from her spot unless you manage to coax her to either eat or take a shower. otherwise, she’ll be content laying against you until she feels ready enough to detach herself form you
⋯ EVAN HAWKINS
if anything, evan grows more frustrated with himself. slowly begins to fall down the rabbit hole of ‘what ifs’. trying to think about what he could have done differently to change the course of the day he’s been having. he’s patience wears a little thinner and sometimes he can be a bit of a pain to have a conversation with. until he gets home and he crumbles, talking your ear off about how his day had been until he practically runs out of breath. he feels better afterward and can usually move past that day but it will always stick with him as he could have done better
⋯ GREG GRAINGER
greg tends grow quiet, almost closing in on himself and trying his best to get through the rest of his shift before going home. the second walks through the door, he’s immediately finding wherever you are in your shared home and latching onto you with already tear blurred eyes. he doesn’t really want to talk about it just yet, just needs to hear you talk gently to him and hold him close. he’’l eventually come clean about what took place, but he needs his own time to think through what had happened

Brian 'Otis' Zvonecek one-shot — Peace
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Words: 1.2k
Otis x Female reader
TW: the tiniest bit of angst and lots of fluff! Also: pregnancy, anxiety, mentions of panic attacks
A/N: finally dared to post this one! I really like how it ended up, but please keep in mind english is not my first language so there may be some mistakes. I wrote this one with Peace by Taylor Swift in mind, enjoy!

And you know that I'd (...) give you my wild, give you a child
Your hands were shaking as you went to grab your cup of freshly brewed tea, the chamomile smell soothing you before you could even take a sip. You did your best to focus on the way the tea tasted, and how the warmth went through your mouth and down your throat, really trying to keep yourself grounded and not give into the panic attack that you felt around the corner.
Silly panic attack. You felt the clink of your wedding band against the beige cup. Your wedding ring, of all things. You two were married, and had been for almost a full year. Turning your head, you found the fridge with all of its magnets and notes. Some were sweet and loving, both in your handwriting and his, knowing some days one left for shift without seeing the other.
“I love you”; “Stay safe”; “Come home to me” were some of the messages the both of you had left, a reminder you had someone waiting for you after your shift at the Intelligence Unit, and he had someone waiting for him after his shift at firehouse 51.
A photo from your wedding day caught your eye. You two were married. He wouldn't leave. He wouldn't step back. He had literally signed up for this. He had scribbled down his signature on a paper that was securely put away on a folder full of important documents, and he had vowed to love you until death do you part.
The door opening startled you, even when you had woken up early to talk to him. Not that you could really sleep, anxiety keeping you awake and turning and tossing in the bed sheets; the smell that came from his shirt that you were wearing doing nothing to calm down your mind.
“Baby” called Otis, as soon as he closed the door and saw you sitting down at the kitchen island. He knew something was going on. Usually, on your days off, he would just get home and find you asleep in bed, not drinking tea in the kitchen.
Immediately, he dropped his bag and his arms found your figure, pulling you into his warm embrace and stepping in between your legs, holding you to his chest as his hands caressed your back in the way only he knew how.
“Are you okay?” he asked, already knowing you weren’t, by the way you clung to him, embracing his body with your arms and legs, and let out a shaky breath against his chest. Still, he gave you the choice to not speak about what had you up on your day off, not until you were ready.
You split from his hug, knowing you wouldn't speak if you found refuge between his strong arms. “We need to talk” you said, finding his now worried brown eyes.
Otis swallowed audibly, and a neutral expression took over his face, trying to hide the fact he was terrified. Were you going to leave him? Was your marriage over? Or did it still stand a chance? Had he messed up? Forgotten a date? Forgotten your birthday? Valentine's? Anniversary? He quickly crossed those options, your anniversary was still a month away, he already had the reservations for the weekend getaway done, and your birthday had been three months ago, he had gotten you that necklace you liked. And February was still away, so there was no chance he had forgotten Valentine’s.
“I’m sorry” he blurted out, his heart shattering at the idea of letting you down, of disappointing you “I don’t know what I did, but I will make it up to you. Please don’t leave me” he was not above begging, not when it may make the difference between you staying in his life or giving up on your marriage. Not when you were the single best thing that had ever happened to him.
Your heart melted into your chest, and tears gathered in your eyes. His forced neutral expression switched into a worried one when a tear escaped your right eye, and his thumb was quick to catch it. Whatever it was, it could not be good if you were this distraught. He had seen you in some of your worst moments, and he could count on one hand the times he had witnessed such distress in your pretty eyes.
“Babe?” he called, preparing himself to beg you to talk to him if it came down to it. You were worried, and he wanted, he needed to help you out.
“I’m pregnant” you whispered, your voice so low, Otis thought he had misheard you.
“You... what?” He exhaled, trying as hard to not let his hand find your lower abdomen, since he wasn’t sure you were happy.
Sure, the two of you had discussed starting a family, but that conversation had been held ages ago, at the early stages of your relationship. He remembered you saying you wanted to have kids, and how that was a deal breaker to you; and he remembered getting home and pestering Joe about how he had found the one.
Had you not seen his small smile, you would've freaked out. But he was smiling, and his eyes were shining with tears, so that was a good sign, right?
“I’m pregnant” you repeated, louder this time, and allowing your own hand to find your nonexistent bump.
Otis let out a high pitched scream, before hugging you tightly. His arms pulled you closer and out of the kitchen stool, picking you up and spinning you around the living area, excitement washing over him. Finally, he put you down, and his hands cradled your face, whipping away any tears.
“We’re having a baby” he whispered, happiness dripping from his words, before he started peppering your face with kisses.
“We’re having a baby” you repeated, giggling at his affection, your hands now holding his biceps.
You couldn’t understand how you could’ve been that panicked, your husband wanted desperately to be a father, but only with you. Now you let yourself feel the happiness that you had put away on a cage in your heart, and the world felt more colorful than ever.
The next morning, as you untangled from your still asleep husband, you made your way to the kitchen to get some breakfast. A new note on the fridge caught your eye, and butterflies came alive in your stomach.
Last night, Otis and you had sat down and tried to guess an estimated date in which your baby would join you, a date he had scribbled down on a piece of paper before adding “Best day ever”. Next to it, a note he must've put up while you headed towards the bedroom “Get on desk duty”.
Years ago, the idea of desk duty would’ve killed you, hating the idea of being away from the action and the adrenaline it provided, but now you were beyond happy to spend your whole day at the district.
“You two were leaving without saying goodbye?” Otis’s sleepy voice called out as he walked into the kitchen. Without saying another word, he sank to his knees and kissed your abdomen “Leaving without saying goodbye to your dad is actually kind of rude. Guess your momma and I will have to teach you some manners once you’re out of there, bub” he spoke, his hands firm on your hips.
You laughed, a hand coming to caress his hair, and he looked at you with nothing but adoration and love shining in his eyes. How could you have been so worried? You would be okay. The three of you would be okay.

Thanks a million♥️ So for the Brian ‘Otis’ Zvonecek requests I was thinking something along the lines of (reader aka y/n) is a new paramedic at firehouse 51 and everyone including Brian is shocked when she takes an immediate interest in him by flirting with him in front everyone… it’s not a perfect idea so pls feel free to adjust where you feel necessary, this is more of like a guideline than anything.
I was watching the episode where Terra Little joins 51 for a training shift and Otis is attracted to her but of course she chose Kelly Severide instead🥱 so I thought it would be a nice change if Otis is the guy she instantly gravitated towards because it’s very possible I mean he’s adorable common.
instant attraction
Tumblr media
Pairing: Brian "Otis" Zvonecek x Female!Reader
"And that would be everything" Sylvie said as she finished giving you a tour of the firehouse.
Joining the 51 had been nerve-wrecking for you ever since you found out your transfer had gone through, mainly because you knew how tight everyone was and you didn't want to intrude on anything.
"Thank you for showing me around. This is much nicer than the last firehouse I was at" you said, admiring the trucks and the ambulance, which was so much nicer than your previous ones.
"How was your last firehouse?" she inquired, not having received much information about you from Chief Boden.
"Typical boy house. I was the only female in the entire house, so you can imagine the atmosphere. The only one who wasn't bothered by my presence was my partner, but we were the same age, so that helped a little" you explained, continuing to walk around.
"I can promise you that it's going to be different here. Our guys are the best, you're going to fit right in with everyone" she smiled and wrapped an arm around your shoulder, steering you in the kitchen direction.
You didn't say anything as you slowly walked towards everyone, each of them minding their own business in the kitchen.
"Guys, this is Y/N. She's the new paramedic I was telling you about" Sylvie announced as you stopped in your tracks where everyone could see you.
"Hi" you said and waved shyly, not used to having so many intimidating pairs of eyes on you at the same time.
Each of them got up and introduced themselves one at a time, wishing you a warm welcome.
"I'm Brian, but everyone here calls me Otis. Welcome to 51, I hope you'll feel at home here" the most handsome man you'd ever seen said as he stood before you, hand outstretched.
You slowly brought your hand up and shook his, electricity quickly spreading through your body when your skin touched his. You inhaled a deep breath, Otis doing the same, which made you smile because it only meant that he felt the connection too.
"Y/N, nice to meet you. I'm positive I'll feel more than welcome here, especially with you around" the words stumbled out of your mouth before you could even think about stopping them.
You saw a slight blush coat Otis' cheeks as he looked around at his colleagues, all looking at the interaction between the two of you with much interest.
Otis cleared his throat and made you snap back to reality, suddenly becoming aware of everyone staring at the two of you and your hands still holding onto each other.
"Otis, why don't you finish the rest of the tour? Show her where we sleep when on shift and the lockers and showers and everything" Sylvie spoke up, sneakily winking at the flustered firefighter.
"Um, ye-yeah, sure. This way" Otis said and motioned for you to follow him.
You turned around briefly to look at Sylvie, who winked at you and smiled, making you smile back.
"She did this on purpose, didn't she?" you asked him, trailing after him down the corridor.
"Sylvie? Yeah, she likes to think she's Cupid and her main goal in life is setting people up every chance she gets. I'm sorry about this" he said, scratching the back of his neck.
"You don't have to be sorry, I'm not complaining one bit" you smiled at him, trying to show him that you were enjoying the situation to the fullest.
"Oh, great. That's, um, that's good" Otis said, cursing under his breath at how awkward he sounded.
"You haven't done this in a while, have you?" you questioned, trying to ease the tension.
"Is it that obvious?" he laughed, the rigidness in his shoulder slightly lessening.
"Maybe just a little" you laughed with him.
"I'm just not used to women showing interest in me first. It's always Casey or Severide or anybody else that gets the girls. It's never me" he explained, which made you feel a little sad for him.
Otis was nothing short of hot and extremely handsome, you couldn't understand why women wouldn't approach him.
"Well, if you're asking me, you're way hotter than everyone else in this firehouse" you leaned in and whispered in his ear before walking away.
You heard Otis inhale a deep breath behind you, making you smile.
You had a feeling you were going to enjoy life at 51.

Jealous - Brian 'Otis' Zvonecek
Request: I thought about Brian’s ex coming to town maybe Katie and reader gets jealous seeing how he reacted to her when she stopped by the firehouse. Fluffy ending of him putting her mind at ease that she’s his future and he loves her. Tysm for doing this❤️❤️
A/N: I found this in my drafts and realized I never finished it.
One Chicago Masterlist
✳︎ ✳︎ ✳︎ ✳︎
“Look, I get it,” you stressed, trying to make your voice sound a nonchalant as you weren’t feeling, “Kelly’s dad died and that’s awful and of course Katie is gonna come to the funeral...I just don’t know why she had to come here. To 51. To see Otis.”
From the look on Stella’s face you knew that your nonchalance wasn’t anywhere near believable. And how could it be? You remembered Katie from last time, something that you knew Sylvie knew just from the sympathetic look on her face when Katie came walking onto the app floor that morning. You and Otis were just friends back then but you’d had a crush on him, one that you were fairly certain he had picked up on until he’d announced to you and Cruz that he was dating Severide’s sister.
“She told him she’s got a boyfriend back in...wherever. I’m sure this is just a nostalgic trip down memory lane.” Stella tried, really she tried, but the words weren’t going through. Sylvie had tried this morning when ambo got called out on a run before you’d even sat down for briefing. And Cruz had tried when you came back and found Otis in the common room laughing at whatever hilarious thing you were sure that Katie had said to him.
Probably something along the lines of ‘breakup with your partner and date me instead. Remember how much fun we had together? And you didn’t have to explain the inner-workings of Catan to me.’
“It better be.” You grumbled, slamming your locker door a little louder than you meant to. There hadn’t been a call since the one that pulled you away from Otis and Katie’s initial reunion and in all honesty you were hoping there would be a call soon just to get you out of 51 and focused on work. Couldn’t some uncoordinated Chicagoan have a slip and fall or something? Anything to get you away from them and all the thoughts swirling in your head. You didn’t want to seem like you were lurking or eavesdropping on their conversation and you wanted to seem like the cool partner, the person who could let their boyfriend and his ex hang out without feeling any jealousy. But it was the exact opposite and if Stella knew, everyone else probably did too.
You left the locker room still somewhat aggravated, talking to Stella had helped you vent but it hadn’t given you any peace of mind. You still didn’t want Katie there and you were still annoyed that Otis had been so happy to see her. It wasn’t really his fault and you knew that. If there was anyone in the world that was guaranteed to have positive, healthy relationships with their exes, it was definitely Otis. What wasn’t to love about him? But knowing that just made the feeling in the pit of your stomach ten times worse. Why did he have to be so nice? Couldn’t he just be an asshole? Or maybe just an asshole to Katie? No...you didn’t want that either.
“Hey, there you are!” Otis’ voice startled you as you turned to see him standing there in the in the hallway outside of the lockeroom. No Katie in sight, thankfully. You’d heard him mention something about a tour of the firehouse (as if anything had changed since the last time she was here) before you’d snuck off to the lockers.
“Where’s Katie?” You asked, glancing over his shoulder as if she would materialize.
“Just in,” he pointed back to the common area, “wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“I’m fine.”
Otis looked immediately skeptical and you crossed your arms defensively, trying to play off you tension as calm, still hoping that the alarm would go off. Even if it was a fire, you’d rather everyone go than have to be stuck here one more moment with Katie and Otis. You definitely didn’t want to go back into the common room and have to sit there at the table and listen to the two of them share stories and reminise about the past.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. It wasn’t even like you were being rational in your annoyance. Otis had introduced you as his partner immediately. The practical second after he said hello to Katie he was dragging her over to you and introducing you as if you were the best piece of his life in Chicago that he could share with someone. But still, you hadn’t been able to quell the voice in your head. “Fine.”
Otis’ skeptical look turned contemplative, as if he was working something out. “Wait a minute...are you jealous?” He looked like he almost didn’t believe the words when he said them. As if it was such a crazy notion that saying it out loud made him feel like he was being ridiculous.
You huffed, shoulders slumping. Otis’ mustache twitched as he smiled, correct in his analysis. “I really like Katie,” you defended, lowering your voice so no one would overhear. “She seems super nice and I can totally get why you went out with her.”
“Can you totally get why I’m not interested in her now?” He asked, “Cause I love you and that’s not gonna change just cause my ex is in town?”
“Yeah, yeah...I know.” You replied, defeat evident in your voice. “I don’t know I just saw her and you were so excited to catch up. It’s totally irrational, I know that! I just...ugh god. I can’t explain it.” You huffed. “Stop smiling me like that.”
Otis’ smile didn’t diminish. He couldn’t deny that you getting jealous felt like a bit of an ego boost. That someone could love him so much that they were bothered by the idea of him hanging out with an ex. “Sorry, sorry, just kinda cute how annoyed you are.”
“Oh yeah, how cute would it be if I had an ex come to town and spent the whole afternoon with them?” You asked, hands on your hips.
Narrowed eyes, Otis’ smile turned to a slight grin. He knew what you were getting at and frankly, he knew you were right. Maybe it was silly that you were bothered by Katie but he knew if any ex of yours showed up at the firehouse he would be acting a lot worse. Less hiding in the locker room and more showboating. “Lets just not have exes, problem solved.”
“Well I doubt I’ll have any more.” You replied, the alarm finally blaring in the background.

Brian was grinning when you stepped inside your home. He discarded your bags instantly, dropping them by the door before he strode towards the bed and flopped down upon it, hands behind his head as he starred up at the ceiling. You had missed him, his ability to make everything that little bit brighter. Two weeks, back home with your parents was almost long enough to send you demented.
It filled you with contentment as you watched him prop himself up on his elbows, a mischievous grin spreading across his handsome features as those eyes fixated on you. He patted the cream-coloured bed sheets beside raising his eyebrows in that manner that showed every one of his intentions.
"So, we're having one of those moments are we?" You asked as you slinked up towards your husband with slow purposeful movements.
Your fingers were already undoing the buttons of the blouse you were wearing until it hung open revealing a lacy scarlet red bra that extenuated every single one of your assets. It made your skin glow in the fading light from the orange sunset as you stripped the material from your shoulders, letting it flutter to the floor.
"I haven't seen that before." Brian commented, shifting on the bed as his erection sprung to life within the confines of his jeans.
You placed your hands on his knees as you leaned in close enough to kiss his finely sculptured lips. The air was rife with anticipation as you stared into Brian’s intense dark eyes, your hand cupped his arousal through his jeans, stroking over his stiffening cock through the denim. Brian arched into your touch as you watched his facial expressions closely, judging how every single ministration affected him.
"There's a lot of new things you haven't seen." You whispered, your lips brushing his with the briefest of touches as you spoke. "I went lingerie shopping and bought all sorts of new and interesting things."
"I would like to see all of them." Brian told you hissing in relief as you unzipped his fly, releasing his throbbing dick.
"You’re the only man who'll ever get to see them." You promised, the light tickle of your breath in his ear causing a long hot thrill to chase through him.
Your fingers curled around his demanding cock, creating a tight ring around the base. Brian let out a low groan of approval as your hand began to move up and down his shaft.
"It turns me on seeing you like this, knowing how much you want me." You told him, your teeth grazed his earlobe, sending his blistering flesh into a delicious frenzy.
"I haven't even seen the panties yet." he breathed as you nuzzled the curve of his throat.
He whined as you withdrew. You grasped his wrist, guiding it down towards his leaking dick, before you wrapped his own fingers around it
"I want you to show me how much you like what you see." You told him.
Your eyes were bright with excitement as his lips quirked up into that deviant smile. That was the thing about Brian, he made you feel so confident and erotic. You had never been an exhibitionist before but Brian made you feel beautiful and empowered in ways you had never considered possible.
Brian had never seen something so tantalising as he watched you undo your zipper before shimmying out of those clinging black jeans. The matching scarlet thong barely covered anything, leaving his imagination rampant at all the possibilities ahead of him. He was jerking his cock already, his body was flushing with heat as he arched into his own rough hand.
You turned your back upon him, casting a sultry glance over your shoulder. Your smouldering gaze was enough to make him want to reach out and touch you but he didn’t. This was your game, he played by your rules.
That gorgeous ass of yours was on display, another one of his favourite assets. The thong made it look even more enticing and Brian bit down on his lower lip to stifle the moan that escaped his throat as he imagined running his hands over that firm, smooth flesh. Your fingers curved around the tiny waistband before you removed the panties in the risqué manner he had ever seen.
His breathing was hitching, and it was music to your ears as you removed the bra too before turning to face Brian completely naked.
"Get undressed."
It was a simple command, one that Brian obeyed as quickly as he could. His shirt was barely off his shoulders before you were pushing him onto his back your thighs straddling his waist.
This was you at your finest. Inventive, dynamic, all self-assured.
Brian let out a loud hoarse cry, his head tipping back into the sheets in rapture as you sunk down on his aching cock in one fluid motion. His hands enclosed on your hips as you began to rotate them keeping him taut deep inside her. His features contorted in ecstasy as your hands swept all over his firm chest, nails raking lightly over his skin. You rode him harder, driving his throbbing cock into your tightening wetness with short, rapid thrusts. His fingertips were gripped your waist as he ground his teeth together, struggling to fight off the overwhelming tingling in his lower back as it threatened to consume him. He was so God damn close, it killed him.
You exploded like a star, blossoming before his eyes. Your head tilted back, hair tumbling down your naked back as you called out his name in a haze of sheer euphoria. Just the sight of you at the height of orgasm tipped him straight over the edge and into oblivion. His whole entire body jerked from the force of the release as it tore through him like a rogue firework popping and sizzling over every single one of his synapses. He said your name like a prayer before you swooped down to his level and stifled his wanton noises by kissing his delectable mouth.
His hands were on your skin, caressing down the length of your spine and gracing your body as your tongue dipped into his mouth. He could feel his heart beating against yours as your head came to rest on the muscular curve of his shoulder. He gathered you up in his strong arms, your bare legs entwined, your feet rubbing against Brian's in that familiar reassuring gesture.
"You've been holding out on me." he breathed against your hairline.
Your laugh vibrated against his chest causing him to smile at the symphony in his ears. You had no idea what it meant to him to hear that sound.
“Oh Brian, I’m full of surprises.”

FORGIVEN- Brian Otis Zvonecek
Summary: You and Brian haven't seen each other for months, distanced by pain and resentment, but the past comes back to knock at the door a night like any other (but not without the help of Brett and Joe )
Tumblr media
Warnings : Mention of Panic Attack and past abusive relationships
17.30 PM
"For the last time, Sylvie: I don't intend to come at any double date with... her." It's been about ten times that Otis has told her this, yet his friend hasn't stopped pestering him since the morning.
"It's not a double date!" Sylvie replies "You are just coming to the the Street Food Expo  with me, Joe and y/n."
"And I bet it's a coincidence that we are four people and two of us are a couple and then there's me and y/n. If this isn't a double date..." He mutters, shaking his head.
"Come on," She pleads "if you'll come, y/n won't be hanging around me and Joe all the time but at the same time she won't be in danger being alone at home. You know, since she has broken up with that asshole, Marcus, he follows her everywhere. He has even stopped by my apartment a few times, we haven't opened the door but it was scary as hell."
Otis tries to ignore the painful pinch in his chest at the mention of Marcus and the fact that he is now your ex. He tries to stop the anger that boils in his veins at the idea that someone could even think of hurting you. "Right, and you can't ask anyone else?"
This is not how he wants to say it, he doesn't know why words escape his lips like this. "No Otis, I can't and you know it too. You were her best friends, you still are." He shakes his head again, Brett nails him with an accusing look. "Come on, I'm begging you. If you don't want to do it for her, do it for me."
And truth is, Brian would do anything for you.
He has already done it, everything.
He has tired to save you for two years from that toxic and wrong relationship you got yourself stuck into, getting a door in his face and a broken heart in return. When Marcus has forced you to choose one day, you've chosen him.
"I don't even like the expo" He replies but now he's already convinced to come and Brett knows it.
"Pick us up at half past eight, be punctual and..." "But I do not -"
"Be on time and wear something nice, okay? You never know what can happen" After lingering for several seconds and insulting himself with at least fifteen different offensive expressions, in fact, Otis sighs and gives up.
"Alright then."
"Oh thanks!" Sylvie throws her arms around his neck, euphoric
"Thank you, thank you, tha –"
"Let's be clear about one thing, though" he interrupts her without breaking away "first: you owe me a favor, and secondly... You are aware that if this is a move to clarify things between me and y/n it won't work, right?" Brett giggles in amusement, pulling away but still holding him by the shoulders.
"Don't worry Otis, this night is for me not for you."
And Brian doesn't know why, but when Brett leaves a strange feeling pushes between in his chest and throat, something like an itch that he can not soothe. "But if you still want her, I'm sure y/n needs you"
This perhaps makes him feel almost worse.
9.15 PM
Friday night is almost as sacred to you as Christmas to your mother. Although practically everyone thinks of you as a pub girl, you love to spend Fridays at home, on the sofa wearing only a tank top, bra free, with sweatpants, a glass of wine and Marcus by your side back during the good old days, when he still was the guy you fell in love with in high school.
There was another time then when your Friday nights - but also your Saturdays and Tuesdays - were the Mollys.
Brian, to be more specific.
Your Fridays has been Brian at one point. When with Marcus it was all ups and downs, all messed up and sad and pathetic, you have found yourself there more and more, with that sweet, nice fireman you had slept with once, during one of the many breakups with Marcus, and who then somehow had became your best friend.
A friendship you've always  paid dearly for.
A punch once. A kick in the ribs. A glass on the head yet another time. Every time Marcus has remembered that Otis was still  part of your life, it has gotten worse. And you have accepted everything, without saying anything to Brian, because you were sure that if he knew that what you were going through was somehow his fault - of his texts and his calls-  then he would have felt guilty forever and you didn't want to. Also he was going to kill Marcus, and you didn't want that too. He would have tried to save you. Indeed he did it to be honest, after two years of friendship, after two years of lies and subterfuge, after two years in which you swore you had left Marcus so many times.
"It's really over" but then you always came back to him and Brian could only watch you self-destruct in the name of your sick love, of a life you didn't deserve, a man who have convinced you that you're worthless without him.
And that's how you feel now: worthless and pathetic.
Brian has tried to save you, even putting Antonio in the middle and reporting Marcus.
He did it without your knowledge, while you were still unconscious in a hospital bed, after Marcus threw you down the stairs.
A concussion, bruised face, broken rib and arm. Even that wasn't enough to make you give up.
"I fell" You have said to the police, saving his ass again one time.
"You didn't have the right" you have yelled at Brian, later, with an IV still in your body. He couldn't look at your swollen and pale face, he couldn't touch your cold skin. He couldn't accept that the best person he knew, the only woman in the world from whom he had willingly accepted a friend-zone because he would have wanted you in his life in any way, the person he called at the end of every difficult shift and  knew how to calm him like no one else in the world, you, his precious y/n were a mess of bruises, tears and broken bones.
In his heart he blamed himself for everything, because he should have stopped it, he should have killed Marcus, he should have asked you out after your first -and only- night together instead of waiting days just to find you with him again.
He should have understood sooner that he was the right man for you, gathered courage and stepped forward.
Brian could not understand that you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.
"I can stand up for myself"
"Oh I. see it. Fuck I'm tired of finding you like this, I'm tired of standing still while you let that son of a bitch kill you."
He raised his voice and waved his hands in the air gesturing in a way that for some reason scared you and covered your face to protect yourself.. Your body instinctively reacted to the only thing it knew by now: violence and Brian looked at you with the biggest eyes in the world, scared of himself.. He brought a hand to his face, trying to hide how much that gesture of yours struck him, then he leaned towards you and gently as if you were made of glass, he embraced you.
It was the last time.
When you met again, Brian was at your door. When you met again, you had just discovered that no, he hadn't given up on the Marcus investigation and had continued to put Voight and his bloody cop friends in the middle.
"I did it because I'm your friend y/n fuck"
You opened the door just enough to see his face collapse as you yelled.
"Then maybe you shouldn't be. I don't need you"
It's been four months. Somehow you found the courage to leave Marcus when you saw him try to lay hands on Sylvie, one evening when she came by to see how you were doing.
You've moved in with her, you've taken your life back in your hands . You've never seen Brian though.
"Hurry up y/n" Brett intimates.
"Take it easy, Joe will surely be late anyway" You reply, putting on your lipstick.
"There's been a change of plans," Syilvie says hastily, pulling on her black boots.
"Joe and Otis will be picking us up in a bit."
"When were you going to tell me he's coming too?" you scream, your voice  high-pitched, smearing lipstick in your cheeks in anxiety. You clean yourself quickly, so hard it feels like you want to peel off your skin and you try not to notice the way your heart has started pounding at the mention of his name.
You tell yourself that you can do it, that it's okay, that you're ready to see him again even if you know it's not true. For a moment a little voice whispers in you ear that you shouldn't go with them, but you can't: the idea of being alone still scares you.
"Please wipe that depressed look off your face" she begs.
"You know what's depressing? The fact that you have invited him because I can't be alone, at my age. It's all so absurd."
You shake your head, trying to smile
"Of all the people in the world you had to invite him? You couldn't invite... I don't know, Kelly? Dawson?" You ask, putting on your favorite jacket at full speed.
"Because he's your best friend and you miss him more than you care to admit and he's the only one you wouldn't be ashamed to tell what Marcus is still doing to you. Besides, I know he's the only one you could bear to spend some time with right now, he's special to you." she replies, bringing out the best of her innocent expressions, while you roll your eyes and just pray that it will end quickly.
You like less and less the fact that deep down you know how right Sylvie is: Brian Zvonecek is without a shadow of doubt the only person in the world who has managed to understand you, he was also the only one to touch the deepest strings of your heart when you thought it was made of stone after all the years with Marcus.
He has crushed your soul in a way no one had before and he did it with kindness and delicacy, without having to do anything more than be himself.
He has taught you to still believe in good people and in true love, the one made of caresses, of sharing, of sweetness.
You've figured it out too late and repaid him treating his like he didn't matter, like he wasn't important.
You know it's his greatest fear, being abandoned, being left behind, being less important to others, being the last wheel in the cart and you hurt him in the worst way.
No matter how much Sylvie and Joe keep telling you that it's not true, that in cases like yours it's a normal reaction, that Marcus has manipulated you for a long time, that Otis doesn't see it that way and that he will understand if you talk to him: you just can't look at his face now.
9.45 PM
"I still don't understand why I can't be in the front sit." Otis mutters, turning to look out the window at the Chicago nightscape.. It's just the beginning of the evening and he's already tired of the palpable tension between you two, he's tired of having to keep his head turned away because he can't bear the sight you, he's tired of feeling your eyes on him.
"Come on man. Sylvie 's my girlfriend it's normal that I make her sit here, Have you ever heard of gallantry?" Otis shakes his head. "Yes right, gallantry"
Sylvie turns towards you, she gives you a look to give you courage but you don't speak, you remain silent, you throw a few glances at Brian from time to time that he doesn't reciprocate and you are here, still, to torture your hands wondering if you should have stayed at home.
He hates you.
He hates you and you can't stand it.
When Cruz's car stops suddenly to avoid colliding with another car you are thrown forward hard. It's an instantaneous gesture, so quick, fast and natural that he doesn't realize it and maybe not even you. Not really.
In a second the fireman's arm is in front of you, as if to protect you, keeping you in your place, avoiding any kind of danger.
You don't even hear Joe and Sylvie's curses, you and Brian are still in your moment, still In the instant in which after so many months your bodies are touching again, and under layers of clothes you can both feel a shiver shaking your bodies .
"Everything Okay?" He asks, his voice shaking, realizing what he's just done. He withdraws his arm slowly, reluctantly. He hates to admit it, but he would like to stay like this forever.
This little contact, it seems enough for him and he feels like a fool.
A poor idiot in love.
You nod. "Everything fine?" You ask, looking directly at his face for the first time. You've missed his dark eyes so much that you can't quantify it in words, so much that the world exists only in his gaze and you wonder how you haven't realized before all this, how wonderful and big his eyes are.
How much you need his gaze on you.
He reciprocates with an intensity that scares you, that doesn't seem real. Marcus has never looked at you like that. Not even once.
Not even at the beginning.
Brian, he has looked at you like that all the time.
If he's still looking at you like that then maybe he doesn't hate you.
But then, as soon as he comes to his senses, his gaze returns hard, cold, distant, all hope is lost.
When the car starts again, he turns around and puts a distance between you two. The world is suddenly colder. He shifts his eyes to you, again and again, being careful not to be noticed. He thinks you are beautiful. He thinks you're beautiful and you seem better off without that asshole.
He can't help but be happy about it.
"It's going to be a long night," Joe murmurs softly.
I'm sure of that too, Otis thinks, still looking at you sideways.
He's never been lucky with love, of course, but with you it's something that goes beyond love, beyond friendship, beyond everything. Something he can't describe or name, but still hurts terribly
10 PM
Brian doesn't hate y/n, at all. He could never, not even when you  have decided to cut all ties. What makes him angry is never being able to fully understand you.
You are a mystery, even though he knows you so well. One second you're a strong and independent woman, the best he knows, the most talented, the liveliest and nicest, the next you're Marcus' puppet, silent at her side, submissive, afraid and dull.
Sure, it's not your fault, but he can't help but get angry to see how you let an ordinary man shut down someone as amazing as you, it angers him to know how little  respect you have for yourself to think you deserve something like this. No matter if it's over, Brian will carry this anger with him forever maybe.
Brett goes out of the car, clutching Cruz's arm, announcing that they're going to go for a walk on their own.
"No" You say instinctively. "I mean, I thought we were supposed to be together." You continue then, hoping you haven't offended Brian.
"We need to discuss something, then we'll catch up with you" Brett replies winking at Otis and walking away before he can reply.
Cruz doesn't know if his friend has the  strength to do it anyway. He is confused and upset to have you here again, Joe knows this and isn't entirely sure of Brett's plan.
"You're crazy" Joe whispers.
"They both need it, I can't take it anymore"
"You realize we're pretending to still be together just for them, Sylvie, you're crazy"  Joe shakes his head.
"it's crazy that those two don't talk to each other anymore"
Brian watches you, the way you bite your nails tense, the way you move your knee, and bite your lip. You are agitated and something more: scared. "Everything Okay?" He asks, his voice hoarse.
"Yes, yes, don't worry, it's just that I haven't imagine a night like this"
"And how have imagined it?" He asks. You shake your head, smile just letting your hair cover your face red with embarrassment.
"I didn't expect to see you Bri, I wasn't ready"And he almost wants to yell at you that you drove him away, and he doesn't need to talk. You know the face he makes when something makes him nervous, recognize it and remain silent. "I think we should go" he says he points to the stalls.. He starts walking then he stops and turns to you.
"I knew you'd be there, but it doesn't make it any easier"
You nod. "I'm sorry, I'd give anything to..."
The words dies in your throat.
"Me too y/n" he replies, hinting for the first time a smile under his mustache that you like so much.
"Come on, let's go get something to eat" he whispers.
You walk behind him.
It's not all solved, but it's a start and for now it already seems almost a miracle.
10.15 PM
You see him everywhere, it takes your breath away.
Marcus is in every shadow, in every man, in every corner and you can't help but tremble with every step you take. Your hands are shaking, your legs are limp and you're breathing hard but you don't want Brian to notice.
Marcus is in your head, just in your fucking head.
"Do you prefer ketchup or barbecue?" Brian turns to you, wallet in his hands, an almost serene expression on his face. It takes you a while to answer, to understand. You remember that you're at the hot dog stand, that everything's fine, that you're talking to Brian and Brett and Joe will be back soon and it'll be even better.
"I ... Nothing" You whisper, your voice trembles, your eyes move from side to side looking for something that can justify your fear, the shiver down your spine.
"You sure? Oh girl that's fool" He comments, giggling. You place a hand on his clutching wallet.
"No Bri, there's no need"
You don't want him to pay. It's not right.
"Look, it's okay. I'm still mad at you, but I'm also happy to be here and it won't make me broke" You don't even smile, you keep looking around you and you feel the air getting heavy, almost oppressive.
"Dude" One of the guys from the truck intervenes."Watch out for your girlfriend, she doesn't seem so well" Otis doesn't bother to say that you're not his girlfriend, he gently pushes you out of line as soon as he realizes you're shaking like a leaf and looking paler than ever.
He hates himself for not noticing it sooner.
"Ei ei y/n, what's going on?" You shake your head.
"it's nothing, it's All Right"
You can't tell him. You can't reopen this wound. Brian would freak out, look for Marcus.
What if... If he is really here?
He would put himself in danger for you, you know he would. You can't let it happen.
"I just need some air" You move away but Brian, quick as lightning, grabs you by the arm.. The gesture takes you back in time, where the hands holding you are not those of the fireman and they are not delicate at all but mean, cruel. You stiffen and Brian realizes it without you having to speak.
He seems to read your mind, he's always been good at it.
"Sorry" he whispers.
"You didn't do anything Bri. I'm not made of crystal, you can touch me"
You start walking again trying to erase the fear from your heart and he stops you after a few seconds, looking you up with his big dark eyes as if the whole world dependeds on you and you alone.
"Don' t look at me like this"
"Tell me what you have then"
You feel the tears tingling in your eyes when yet another shadow takes the form of your ex and feel your chest tighten and you want to die.
"Why? Damn Brian you should hate me! Stop worrying about me, I don't need you"
The man looks away, his jaw clenched and his brow furrowed.
You realize what you've said:
I don't need you.
You take a step towards him and try to grab his hand.
"I...I didn't mean...I" And you wonder how it's possible to mess it all up again so easily.
Otis' hand trembles in anger under your fingers.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"I will never stop worrying about you okay? I've tried and I just can't! It would have been wonderful to do it, to forget about you in a hospital bed bacause of that son of a bitch but there isn't a single, fucking day that I don't think about it and there isn't a day where I don't wonder what I could have done to stop it. And God, there isn't a day that I don't regret not making you fucking leave him earlier. For months I've spent every fucking second wondering how you were doing. So no, it's not about you. It's me. I, I need to know. Tell me what's wrong with you." He raises his voice but Brian doesn't scare you.
Come on, he's different and the way he looks at you... he's not angry, not really, it's something different and maybe worse: disappointed, desperate, scared even.
Terrified of realizing how his life depends on you.
"I see him everywhere" You confess in a faint voice, looking at the ground.
"I see Marcus everywhere and I'm terrified that I won't be able to figure out when he's really there and I'm scared of him, and I'm with you and he hates you so much and I'm scared he might hurt you. To you and the others and me.... I just want to erase him from my life but he's everywhere no matter what.
I left him he's everywhere and he'll never stop" Brian pulls you to him without thinking about it, as if months haven't passed, as if not a single day has passed. He squeezes you tight, you melt into tears with your face against his chest, sobbing like a baby.
"I'm sorry for how I behaved"
"Shhh it's okay, it's okay I know, I know don't worry I'm not angry. I swear it's okay"
He kisses your hair, kisses your forehead and every piece of skin he can reach and you've never felt as much at home as with him now.
"Marcus isn't here, and even if he was I wouldn't let him get near you, ever" This is exactly what scares you, but you don't say it, you don't have the strength.
"I don't deserve it" He shakes his head. "No, you don't deserve it. But I would do it anyway, even if you were the worst person on earth. And you're not" You smile as he slides his fingers through your hair.
"I think that Brett and Cruz have abandoned us"
"Actually, I'm kinda cold and I've never finished Galactica you know? " You confess.
He laughs, just moves away from you.
"You're so full of surprises" He fixes your hair and dries your tears with his tumb.
"Wanna go home?" He asks."
"No, I...God I don't know. I...I want to be with you. It doesn't matter where." You reply. You don't wanna rush things. The smile he gives you is priceless, you would spend hours looking at him like this, perhaps all the rest of your life if possible. You only care about him, the way he gazes at you and is so close, the warmth of his skin and the sparkle in his eyes.
I love you, you think.
I love you, Brian.
The realization falls on you like a Boulder. How can you only notice now?
It has always been so clear.
"Oh, seriously?" Laughs Otis "So how about we take a Taxi?" You nod smiling.
"As I said I need to finish Galactica"
"But you hate Galactica"
"But I love you"

In The Morning
Fandom: Chicago Fire
Pairing: Brian Zvonecek x Fem Reader
Genre: Fluff, romance
Warnings: None
Word Count: 754
Summary: Brian comes home to his girlfriend from a shift, a cute little one-shot.
-
It’s around 7am when you hear the muffled thunk of the door closing and the faint click of the latch being connected. You can envision it in your head, the toeing off of his shoes, the rustle of his jacket as he tries to hang it up without knocking anything over - he had an irrational fear of being clumsy when coming home, and he hated waking you up.
You smile in your bleary-eyed haze of sleep, scooting over from your sprawled position on the bed to make room for your companion coming up the stairs, you hear his awkward halted steps and it makes you shake slightly with giggles beneath the duvet, he really was too much of a worrier for his own good.
The door swooshes quietly open and then closes once again with a quiet click too, then comes the sound of his jeans and t-shirt hitting the pile of other clothes in the laundry bag, and you finally encourage your eyes to open properly. The faint light of the street lamp illuminates his kind face, daylight not yet fully appearing. You smile at his soft expression as you catch his hazel eyes already looking at you, adoring.
Your voice is thick with sleep when you speak, “Mhm, hey, love. How was it?” You scoot yourself up a little so you can focus on him properly, wiggling your fingers as you invite him into bed. He wastes no time in scooting under the covers, freshly showered from the firehouse, you took a second to inhale his conditioner as you carded your hand through his hair, kissing his cheek, moving to brush your lips against his softly, his moustache scratching ever so slightly. He hums, a warm hand resting on your waist.
“It was alright, daytime had a construction mishap, plenty of stove fires, not too busy tonight, a few car wrecks, a small car fire, no fatalities. Got to come home to you, I’d say that I’m doing alright.”
You smile sleepily, “Mhm, that does sound like a fair enough deal.” Tugging him down against the pillows so you can nestle into him, feeling him kiss the top of your head.
“Smells like Baba’s baking downstairs…” He murmurs, humming happily as you stroke along his arm, coming to rest your hand on his chest.
“That’s good to hear, I did use Baba’s recipe…” You tease, not quite revealing what you’d made. He turns slightly to look at you with excitement,
“You baked something using Baba’s handwriting?” His eyebrows go up, not even he could really make head nor tails of Baba’s delicate yet cryptic script sometimes.
You snort, “Yes, using Baba’s handwriting, I’ve got good at reading it. Besides, she taught me last time she was here and I made notes then too.”
You feel Brian squeeze you closer, nuzzling into your neck, “Why are you the best?” He sighs happily, you knew how much giving him little pieces of home made him feel closer to his family, his Baba especially.
“Oh shush, it’s just baking, but I’m glad it puts a smile on that handsome little face of yours.” You pinch his cheek lightly and he chuckles softly.
“You’ve spent too much time with that woman.” He remarks, amused and touched that you loved his grandma too, Joe had been harder to convince at first.
“We’ll see if it’s been enough when we try my Medovik later.” Brian groans,
“God, if I wasn’t so tired I’d get back out of this bed and grab a slice now.”
You playfully swat his arm, “No Medovik until you’ve got some proper rest… Besides, you’ve got a parcel from GameStop downstairs, so we can enjoy a morning of cake and cats.”
Brian’s copy of Stray for PS5 had finally arrived, and even you had been excited to muscle in on having a go.
Your boyfriend sighs happily, rolling over with you to spoon you close, “Best day ever, let’s get some more sleep so it can come sooner.”
You giggle, nodding, “Sounds good, baby, sounds good.” You would most likely get up in a few hours and let Brian sleep peacefully whilst you got some work done on your laptop and did the errands you needed to before spending time with him.
Holding onto Brian’s arms around you, you let yourself get a little more shuteye, the comforting weight of his body against yours lulls you into a deeper slumber than before, and the soft snores of your boyfriend go unheard by your ears.

Tumblr media
To say that ambulance call had run long was an understatement. It was three hours later and you guys still weren’t back which worried Brian, but gave him time to think about how to approach the situation and after a while he decided he would leave it alone. It was probably just a fluke day, and you would be back to your normal self in no time.
The second ambo 61 pulled back into the apparatus floor, Brian had been standing next to the squad table waiting for your arrival. Tapping his fingers anxiously one by one on said table he really didn’t know what to do. But before he could decide to do anything you snapped him out of his thoughts.
“Hey baby,” is all you said when you walked up to Brian placing your hand gently on his anxious one, you gave him a light peck on the cheek, smiled, then walked inside.
“Hi.” Is all he said quietly back as you were already out of his proximity so there was really no point in saying it anymore. He just doesn’t know what to do. Withdrawing his lips into a flat line creating his thinking face, he tapped the table one more time with his index finger then followed you inside. He was not going to leave this alone.
“Baby?” Brian called out for you at the entrance of the bunk room not knowing if you were in there or the locker room.
“In here!” You say from the locker room where you were changing your extremely blood stained shirt.
“You decent?” He asked as he walked inside not waiting for your response anyway.
“No, but it’s you?” You say giggling at his odd behavior.
Brian stood with his shoulder against the locker to the right of yours and admired your body working up the courage to confront you about this situation.
“What’s up?” You finally ask him as you shut your locker and start to slowly make your way back into the bunk room since you were finished in there.
He lets a few seconds pass really contemplating if he were going to address the situation at hand but last second he figured he should just let it go.
“Oh nothing, just missed you.” He said with a weak smile.
“I missed you too. This last call was pretty rough…” You say with your voice trailing off. God you could use a hug right now. But you needed to stay strong, you were not going to demand anything from him. But also you could just ask nicely and this whole thing could be resolved? No. Why should you be able to make that decision that, ‘oh let me just 180° my whole behavior and never address it?’ He deserves more than that, so, you were going to never ask for a hug again.
Brian stood there for a few seconds fully expecting you to give in and ask for a hug but when it didn’t happen he took a deep breath and dropped it. It’s probably just a fluke day he said to himself.
But 3 shifts later when those were also fluke days he really decided this had gone on long enough. Day 1, most of the house noticed but assumed everything would be okay. Day 2, same people noticed same people still thought everything would be fine. Day 3, more people noticed and became more suspicious at her behavior. Then finally day 4, they’ve had enough. Gabby, Mouch, and Herrmann all confronted Otis at the end of shift and basically threatened that he needed to say something to you. The whole house was full of tension and anxiety especially everytime you guys would see each other and nothing would happen. He needed to fix whatever he did, and fix it now. But that’s the thing, he had no clue what he did!
“Okay, okay, I’ll say something to her. Tomorrow okay? If it passes the normal time frame again, i’ll address it.” He said trying to appease their demands but it gave them little hope. He’s doomed.
“Well what if she’s cheating and that’s why she doesn’t want to hug you anymore?” Mouch says as they are all walking to their cars.
“She’s not cheating! We just…did stuff…last night! It’s just an at work thing.” Brian said trying to keep whatever he said PG.
“What if you stink when you’re here and that’s why she doesn’t want to hug you?” Gabby asks bringing up a fair point.
“Do I stink?” Brian asked her becoming worried. Gabby took a step toward him and sniffed…
“No. You actually smell pretty good…wow what cologne do you use, I might have to buy some for Matt.” She said still smelling Otis to where he had to gently push her away.
“Okay, what if, and hear me out, it’s just an end of an era? Maybe she grew up and realized she doesn’t need childish hugs from her significant other in the middle of work?” Herrmann said which made everyone else immediately cringe.
“Mmm Nah.” Mouch and Gabby say at the same time.
“Okay, she’s coming, i’ll say something tomorrow if it doesn’t happen. Stop worrying.” Otis said trying to shoo everyone away from his car since he was taking you home.
The next day the second it hit 10:01 you were still in the common room just making coffee, but what had caught you off guard was Otis anxiously approaching you.
“Hey what’s up?” You ask him in a whisper once he reaches you.
“Are you embarrassed of me?” He asks also whispered.
“What? No? Why would I be embarrassed of you?” You say gently rubbing his arm confused as to why he would ever think that.
“Do you think I stink?” He asks still worried.
“Babe, no. I don’t think you stink. What is this about?” You ask very confused.
“I’m just trying to wrap my head around the fact that you’ve stopped asking me for hugs at work. And at home for that matter, but mainly at work. Did I do something? I-I just-“ You cut him off before he could continue and you look into his eyes. Setting your mug down you grab his hands and look up at him.
“Brian, baby, it’s not you.” You closed your eyes and exhaled through your nose,
“Are you breaking up with me?” He asks at a barely audible volume which really makes you feel bad. Why would he ever think that?
“No!” You half shout at him, taking another deep breath you continue what you were going to say.
“Baby, the other day, the last time I asked you for a hug…you said I was really demanding and it made me think. I realized that any time I have ever asked for a hug I was rude or impolite and I felt really bad, so I stopped demanding hugs. It’s not you, I had just reflected and realized you don’t deserve that. You deserve someone who is going to respect you and be nice to you, and say please if she wants a hug damnit!” Towards the end of your explanation you grew frustrated with yourself and with him as you saw the growing smirk on his face.
“It’s not funny Brian!” You basically shouted getting everyone in the rooms attention. Internally face palming yourself you went to grab your cup of coffee and leave but he wouldn’t let you. Turning around to face everyone in the room you realized he was going to make an announcement and you felt your cheeks flush.
“Guys it’s not me! She just felt bad that every time she asked for a hug, she was rude, so she stopped asking on her own personal account, not because of me!” Brian said announcing the news to the firehouse who looked really worried and unamused specifically because of your reaction behind him. You were fuming, face and ears bright red. So embarrassed.
“Brian Zvonecek!” You shouted and hit his arm, “It was because of you! You called me demanding, and that’s what caused me to rethink, not because I just had some internal epiphany!” You were very frustrated and irritated and extremely embarrassed at this point. You just wanted to crawl in a hole and die.
Brian’s face was priceless. Really priceless. If “Oh shit.” could be personified and applied to be a real life person, it was Brian.
Taking a deep breath approaching you, Herrmann stood up and walked slowly so he wouldn’t “poke the bear” but he knew he was walking into dangerous territory.
“Y/N, I promise you, you are nicer than most. Cindy, Cindy just stands in front of me and expects me to read her mind to know what she wants, and half the time I still get it wrong! So I promise you, you’re doing okay kid.” Herrmann says which is really sweet and this invites more people to come and talk to you.
“Yeah like Gabby, she’ll either just stand in my personal space waiting for me to know what she wants or she just comes and grabs me until I do what she wants, Y/N you’re doing great.” Matt says playfully with Gabby lightly hitting his arm at how he described her which made you chuckle.
Before you knew it Chief Boden was approaching all of you knowing exactly what this was about and making a path for himself without having to say a word.
“Y/N…you are probably one of the sweetest girls I know. Always thinking of others before yourself, and going above and beyond for them too. Your empathy, and ability to completely change your behavior based on if you were treating someone else with kindness or not is inspiring. But I want you to know, this is Otis. And if Donna my wife, can demand a hug from me. Like actually demand, like “Wallace Boden come here right now! I need a hug, so you’re going to give me one!” You can surely patiently ask him without the word please for a hug like i’ve seen you do hundreds of times before. There is no reason you should be thinking this hard about…Otis.” Chief Boden rolled his eyes at the fact that this is what the whole fuss was about but was deep down happy he was able to help you clear this situation up.
“Yeah, like Trudy, she just stands and whines like a puppy that needs to go outside until I do what she wants…you know one time-“
“Mouch! Okay I get it,” you say chuckling and cutting him off, “I appreciate all of you. Thank you for helping me realize…i’m doing a pretty good job.” You say smiling at Otis who has now fully reciprocated the grin.
“Now give me a hug damnit!” You half yell jokingly at your boyfriend.
“Don’t have to tell me twice!” He says picking you up into a hug then setting you down and staying there for a few seconds.
The rest of the firehouse and your coworkers admired your guys’ relationship.
“Yay!” Gabby squealed out happy that you guys are back to normal.
“Yes, congratulations!” Herrmann shouts out.
A few more miscellaneous congrats and yay’s were shouted out as you both finally let go, giving Brian a quick peck you smiled up at the love of your life. You really picked a good one.
The next day you had asked for a hug from Brian at 9:45 on the dot, everyone was happy and everything was back to normal.
“Y/N can I speak with you in the conference room?” Chief Boden asked out of no where which really peaked your anxiety. Shit.
“Sure.” You respond nonchalantly, turning to give a confused look at Otis who shrugged not knowing what was happening. Walking to the conference room to see what he could possibly want your curiosity grew.
“Have a seat, these fine women have a lesson for you. I’ll see you in an hour.” He said with a wink walking out of the conference room leaving you with Cindy, Donna, Trudy, and Gabby all at the front of the room next to the whiteboard that said “Girlfriend and Wife 101, the road to a long and happy relationship.” You chuckled at the lesson in front of you excited to see what this class could consist of.
“Lesson 1, you wear the pants.” Trudy says smacking the board with a pointer stick introducing the class. You had a good feeling about this.

“I can’t lose you.”
Tumblr media
You and Otis didn’t fight a lot. In fact it was super rare and usually not even a fight. Just an argument . The difference being the arguments were always silly. What flavor skittle was the best (the green one.), your favorite Star Wars movie (Revenge of the Sith), which kind of soda was superior (Dr. Pepper.)
But this was a fight. Like actual yelling, crying and all. Your obliviousness was your achilles heel. You weren’t used to, well, people most of the time. Growing up you didn’t have many friends, you didn’t go out places most of college.
The only examples of the social life had been since you started seeing Brian a couple years ago and he basically swallowed you into his friend group who were truthfully always together.
Not that you complained because you loved them but still, everything was new to you. How were you supposed to know the guy that came up to you at the bar was flirting? “Bri, you know I don’t pick up on stuff like that!”
He wanted to believe you, but his own insecurities in himself more than anything picked at his rational, shoving it out the door. “You picked up on it when I was the one doing the flirting. When I was the one passing you drinks ‘on the house’ which you knew meant I was buying for you.”
“Yeah because I liked you! I wanted you to be flirting with me. I didn’t pick up on it, I just gave you my own googly eyes back.” You ran a hand down your face. “Look I’m not arguing with you over this, Brian. Either you believe me or you don’t. Pick.”
Your eyes darted over his, the anger and honestly, the fear, fighting against one another inside of you. You weren’t a liar. And you wanted to yell that at him. Force him to believe you. Because you hated this. All of this. But the other part of you was worried if you pushed him too much he just wouldn’t forgive you at all.
Otis wasn’t like that but truthfully this was also your first real fight. How did you actually know what he was like in them if you never got into one before? “Please believe me.” You couldn’t bear it in yourself to keep up the shield of anger. Not when the one thing you hated most was not being believed.
Instead, your previous emotion was fully replaced with fear. Undoubtful fear. “Please believe me because I can not lose you.” By now there were tears actively sliding down your face. You loved him. God did you love him. Every little molecule that made him had you swooning, always.
He had your attention the second you ran into one another at a cafe, literally. Your coffee down the front of his work shirt and everything. One of the most stereotypical meetcutes you could ever have but with how sweet he was when it happened? How could you not agree to hang out more?
Were you meant to turn him down? “You swear you didn’t notice?” Otis asked, his voice softer than before, the anger seeping out when he saw how your face twisted with sadness. You were his soft spot just as much as he was yours.
“I swear, Bri. I love you. Nobody else could even get me to pull my eyes away from you.” Hesitantly you stepped closer to him, grabbing his hands in yours. “You’re the love of my life, okay? If that guy was flirting, I didn’t realize because I didn’t care enough to. I care about you. Only ever you.”
Your words admittedly brought tears to the man’s eyes, nobody had ever been as sweet and caring as you were with him. Most of the time he was the second, even third choice. Half of him expected you to drop your attention from him to one of the ‘more attractive’ first responders the first night he brought you to Molly’s.
But you didn’t. Your body was glued to the edge of the bar, talking to him for the entire night. You were his before he even knew it. “Alright,” He let out a sigh, pulling you into a big bear hug. “I’m sorry. I really am. I just couldn’t bear the thought of losing you to some guy.”
“You won’t lose me. Ever. I’m here for the long run.” You took a pause, “And I’m hoping that you’ll figure that out soon enough and get moving.” Otis pulled away with a look of confusion on his face.
With a soft laugh you lifted your left hand, wiggling the fingers on it. “By the end of the year I’m really hoping this finger won’t be bare anymore.” You teased, leaning up to kiss his cheek, just happy that that crisis was easily averted.

It was part of the job description for firefighters to see things that most people were lucky enough to go their whole life without seeing, you knew that when you signed up. You knew you’d more than likely see something that reminded you of your own history, your own trauma and pain. But to see something that was pretty much identical to how your dad died. To see another father lie atop his whole family, shielding them from the flames that so quickly took his life, well it was rough. More rough than anything you’d seen on the job and honestly, you had no idea how you were even going to recover from this.
The second you went home you knew you wouldn’t be leaving the house until your next shift, if you could even manage that as you had no clue how you could even walk back into that firehouse after seeing what you’d seen. You’d managed to stay strong the rest of the day, only had a brief moment where you cried in the shower until the next call but the second you arrived back at your apartment, the weight of the incident came raining down on you like a ton of bricks and it was a rain that you just couldn’t seem to find any shelter from.
It had barely been an hour since you arrived home that you soon heard a knock at your door, a very specific rhythmic knock that made you well aware of who was on the other side without having to look through the peephole. You weren’t surprised that Otis had shown up, he was the only one who knew about your past after all, but you were just surprised at how long it had taken him to do so as you’d expected him to show up immediately after work. Hell, you were surprised he hadn’t been waiting inside your apartment having beat you there from the firehouse.
You knew you couldn’t ignore him, couldn’t shut him out like you’d normally do. He was your boyfriend now, someone you were meant to rely on, someone who was meant to comfort you in moments like this, which is why after the second, rhythmic, knock against your door you forced yourself up and onto your feet before shuffling slowly towards the thin piece of wood that stood between you and the only person you could ever want to see right now.
The fact that you even opened your apartment door came as a surprise to Otis, who had half expected to have to use his halligan to pry it open. He knew better than to badger you when you got like this, but what you’d all seen last shift was rough, especially for you, which is why he couldn’t fathom the idea of you dealing with this alone.
“Can I come in?” Otis asked hesitantly, catching the dark circles beneath your eyes that were even more prominent now that you’d taken off what had remained of your makeup.
You nodded, biting anxiously at the skin on your lip before you stepped back, opening the door more to allow him to step inside before you closed it behind him, quickly locking it so as to not end up with more visitors coming to check on you. You already had all you needed right now so you didn’t want anyone else sticking their nose in where it didn’t belong.
“You okay?” Otis asked softly, standing behind you as you slowly turned to face the room. Your eyes shifted around your living room, becoming glassier with each second of silence that passed and with the way your lip trembled furiously, Otis already knew the answer to his question.
“Not really.” You shook your head, a shaky, hitching breath leaving the back of your throat. “I can’t… I can’t…”
“Hey, shh, it’s okay.” Otis whispered, pulling you into his arms where you immediately broke down, his shirt already stained with tears and he’d only just wrapped his arms tightly around your shaking body. “You’re okay now.”
You clung tightly to him, your chest heaving with each pained sob that left your lips, breaking Otis’s heart the second they reached his ears. He didn’t like seeing you like this, crying so much that he thought you might throw up, but if he had to choose then he’d much rather have you cry like this while he was there to hold you, to comfort you, than to even have to think about you spending a single second by yourself whilst in this condition.
“Why don’t we hang out tonight?” Otis suggested when you’d finally pulled back, your face stained with tears which you tried to frantically wipe away before he took hold of your trembling hands, placing soft kisses on your knuckles. “Like we used to, you know? Order cheap take-out, watch crappy movies, go for a walk… Whatever you want?”
“I don’t know if I’d be the best company right now.” You whispered, sniffling softly as you gripped the sleeves of his jacket tightly, afraid that he’d take your words literally and leave you. Just because you didn’t think you’d be much fun to hang out with, didn’t mean you didn’t want him to stay with you.
“You don’t have to be, sweetheart.” Otis said assuringly, wiping your tears with his thumbs. “I don’t care what we do. I don’t care if you sit in silence all day and just stare at the wall because I’m staying with you… And I’m not leaving until I know you’re gonna be okay.”
“I don’t want you to leave.” You replied so quietly that it was barely audible, your fingers tightening around the soft material that covered his arms. “I don’t want you to ever leave.”
“Good, because I’m not.” Otis shook his head, pushing a few loose strands of your hair from your face before his hand settled on the side of it. “I’m gonna stay so long that you end up getting sick of having to see my dumb face.”
“Your face isn’t dumb.” You said softly, lifting your own hand to gently brush your thumb down the side of his moustache, feeling the way his cheeks lifted a little as he couldn’t help but smile. “It’s cute… You have the cutest face I’ve ever seen and I could never, ever get sick of seeing it.”

Wow! It’s certainly been a while since I’ve done one of these. I would like to thank the lovely @teenwolf-theoriginals for tagging me in this, we so need to catch up!
I’ve been really struggling with ideas lately, so here are a few that I have managed to come up with. I apologise since it’s not much, university life has literally destroyed my creative spirit.
Fic One: NCIS
“How long have you been here?” Gibbs asked somewhat confusedly, raising an eyebrow as he looked over your form skeptically.
You squinted awkwardly, pursing your lips as you mulled his question over in your mind. “Uh...what time is it?” You asked sheepishly, closing your eyes as you had a feeling that you already knew the answer.
Gibbs chuckled. “You’ve been here the whole night, haven’t you?”
Fic Two: Chicago Fire
Completely dumbfounded by your words, Brian nodded his head vigorously in agreement, the bright grin on his face causing you to giggle lightly at his adorable expression. Without saying another word, you waved a small ‘goodbye’ as you left the firehouse, a small but noticeable skip in your step as you made your way back to your car.
As Brian stared after you with far-away look in his eyes, he slowly turned around in order to make his way back into the firehouse, only to find Matt, Kelly, Mouch and Hermann staring at him with teasing grins. “What? She loves Star Wars!”.

As Fast As I Can
Fandom: Chicago Fire
Series: One Shot
Pairing/s: Otis x Reader
Warning/s: pregnancy/labour
Word Count: 726
Request: Can you write something like Brian Zvonecek’s wife (the reader) goes into labor when he’s on call and when he’s told she went into labor he freaks out and rushes to the hospital?
@captainpicardsstuff
Tumblr media
Your pregnancy so far had been a nightmare; the aches, the pains, the morning sickness, the hormones, but after two separate Braxton Hicks scares, you were ready to take this baby out yourself.
Otis had been staying home since the first supposed labour, taking leave just in case, but nothing was happening. Honestly, you were both getting a bit stir crazy since you'd been put on bedrest, and Otis' constant worrying about every time you winced or groaned as you moved was driving you up the wall, rushing over to see if it was your labour finally starting.
So you sent him to work.
Kicked him out really.
You needed some you time and you didn't want to have to murder your husband to get it.
Honestly, a part of him didn't need to be told twice.
He was a couple hours into his shift, on call at a traffic collision, when you actually did go into labour. And of course, now he wasn't answering his phone.
You had everything prepared from the first two near misses, but this feeling, right now, you knew this was the real thing. So on your way you tried every number from the firehouse you had, which was all of them.
No one picked up, and your contractions were getting worse as the taxi took you to Med, the driver casting very worried glances back like you'd give birth on his backseat.
Eventually, you got Kylie on the line by calling the firehouse line. "Firehouse 51-"
"Kylie, baby, now," you made out as another contraction came on, the timing terrible.
She didn't need any elaboration. "I'll make the call."
You could hear her radio Boden down the other end of the line, not hanging up on you yet. "Chief, sorry I know you're on a call, but Y/N's in labour-"
"I'll get Otis," came the reply before she could even finish and you couldn't help but be grateful for the family you were about to have around this baby.
You were pulling up to Med, so you had to hang up, but you had no doubt Otis was speeding over as fast as he could.
-
"Otis-" Boden called over, the fire out as overhaul began.
"Chief," Otis looked up, the expression on his face enough as his eyes went wide. The baby was coming. He knew he never should have gone into work today.
Practically dropping his halligan he ran over to his chief, tripping over the firehose and stumbling around before he reached him, the others offering him cheers and congratulations as he passed.
"I'll drive you," Boden offered, taking in the frantic look on his firefighters face, and smiled.
"Thank you," he said, near launching himself in the passengers side of Boden's car, his helmet falling off in the process. He just had time to grab it and close the door before Boden sped off, sirens on as they made their way to Med, Otis' heart pounding in his chest.
He barely let Boden stop before he jumped out the car, rushing in and asking where your room was. The nurse didn't need to ask whether he was the father.
Otis burst in just as you were getting ready to deliver, running up the stairs to the maternity ward as the elevator was packed and taking too long to come back down, uniform still on, panting and drenched in sweat.
"Sorry I'm late," he said between breaths as he put his hands on his thighs and inhaled deeply.
"You okay?" You managed to ask, also covered in sweat and in copious amounts of pain, the nurses and doctors all pausing momentarily around the sudden arrival.
"I just-" he panted, "need a minute to catch my breath."
"You need a minute to catch your breath!?" You screamed in pain at your last contraction, the doctors ready for your final push.
That snapped Otis out of his shock and daze as he really took you in, "right, right, sorry, sorry."
He rushed over and took your hand, trying to hide his wince at the vice like grip you put on his hand.
"You ready for the final push?" The doctor asked you, looking up at your face to let you know it was now or never.
You looked to your husband next to you and smiled, "I am now."

part 1. a friend you can keep
inspired by this song
1,119 words
Her shift at Med finished later than usual thanks to an abnormal high volume of paperwork she had to finish. Her wrist felt sore by the time she signed the last couple of reports and all she wanted was to wind down after a long day. A couple of her colleagues mentioned going over to Molly’s as they were leaving, so that’s where she decided to head to. Even though it’s been a few hours and she doubts there was going to be any movement there by this time of the night. But it didn’t matter because that was not the reason she was going.
Molly’s felt like a second home in Chicago since the times she spent as a paramedic at 51 before going back to med school. She watched that place being built from zero. From Hermann, Gabby and Otis arguing countless times at the break room, to it being a safe haven for all first responders in Chicago to relax after a day of saving lives. And for her, especially, it felt like a small part of 51 that she was still part of.
She could tell from the sidewalk that the movement had started to slow down for the night. The music was no longer playing and the TV had been turned off. A few identifiable voices could still be heard, though. She pushed the heavy wooden doors and was instantly greeted by Gabby about to head home. “Hey, girl!” she exclaimed in surprise by the sight of the old friend entering the place and greeted her with a quick kiss on the left cheek. “Too bad you just got here. We should catch up sometime!” She nodded, returning the smile as she made way past her.
Inside the bar she could see three familiar faces: Hermann and Mouch sat on a table in the corner, chatting about some other business projects; and Otis behind the bar cleaning up some glasses. The older men in the corner of the room briefly acknowledged her presence before turning back to their own conversation. Otis shook his head at them, offering the woman a friendly smile. He nodded to the stool in front of him and she sat down on it, leaning against the counter.
“Thought you were never going to come back again” He joked. “I know you’re busy hanging out with your rich doctor friends but you could at least visit your 51 family every once in a while.” She couldn’t help but chuckle. “I didn’t think you were the jealous type, Otis. Green really doesn’t suit you.”
“Ouch.” He laughs, putting a hand over his chest playfully. “We miss you, that’s all I’m trying to say.” She grinned, feeling her cheeks flush a little bit. “You know I miss you guys too. A lot. But school’s been kicking my ass lately.” He puts down one of the glass he’s been cleaning and looks at her sympathetically. “I’m sorry to hear that. Can I get you anything?” She nods and he immediately picks up two glasses and puts them down on top of the counter. “In that case, I’ll get you something extra special. From my personal stash.” He searches through the bottles hidden in a cabinet behind the bar and pours two glasses of whatever liquor he found. She didn’t care too much what it was. He’d always seemed to know exactly what she’d like and at this point she trusted his taste more than her own. Hermann and Mouch seemed to be getting into a heated argument, so Otis gestured for the two of them to head to the patio. So they could talk without disturbing whatever multi-million idea they were discussing.
She chuckled at the two of them bickering in the background. They’ve always been like this, so it felt nostalgic. The two friends sit beside each other on a table away from the door. They sip on their drinks in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, before he breaks the silence. “Is everything okay?”
He puts his glass down and looks at her. She shrugs, struggling to find the words to answer her long-time friend. “I have no idea.” She lets out an awkward chuckle, stealing a worried smile from his lips. “I’m just tired. This job can be overwhelming sometimes. It gets kinda lonely too.” She sighs and takes a sip of her drink. “Can’t you guys all come work at Med with me?”, the two laugh. “I don’t think Chief Boden would approve of that. Besides, I don't think any of us would make great doctors. Unlike you, Doc.” He smiles, nudging her side softly, making her smile shyly as well.
She put her empty glass down on the table and gently rested her head on his shoulder. Maybe it was the booze, but she felt her face burn hotter at the proximity. Otis was one of the first friends she had made at 51 and as the months went by they became closer and closer. At one point her feelings for him became so big that she couldn’t draw the line between their friendship and her massive crush on him. She was well aware that they were not reciprocated, though. And she was okay with it. At least she thought she was. Leaving 51 for med school offered her a chance of a new beginning in love, but she didn’t seem to like nobody else as much as she liked him.
She closed her eyes and sighed quietly, wishing her mind would quiet down just for a few seconds so she could soak up this very rare moment between them. With both of them working on such busy schedules, she never knew when that would happen again. Suddenly, the silence was broken by his soft, almost whispering tone. “You’re going to be okay.” He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and placed a kiss on her hairline, which made her heart sink a little bit.
She slowly sat up straight again and looked into his hazel eyes, that looked even better under the soft lights of the patio. “You really are one of my best friends, Brian.” He chuckles softly. “That’s a good thing, right?”.
She stared at him with a soft smile, not sure what to answer. Suddenly it didn’t make sense to hide her feelings anymore. He stared back at her, his soft expression turning into a confused one as he waited for the woman to say something.
“We are friends, yes…” she said, “I’m not sure if that’s what I want anymore”.
