Lump Is About the "C" Word, And It Isn't
Lump is a wonderful book for women, written by a man, Nathan Whitlock. The title refers to the dreaded “C” word but the story is not about the ravages of chemotherapy and other treatments, but concerns the ravages of family life surrounding a woman with the diagnosis. The bonus is the author is from Hamilton, Ontario and the story is set in Toronto. New Yorkers are familiar with reading about the…

BOOK REVIEW 🔥 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TW: death, rape, racism, abuse I didn’t know I could be this sad about a book. I moved to Canada at 20 years of age and honestly, I didn’t know much about its history until I arrived here. After learning a little bit about residential schools from a friend, I took it upon myself to read more about this certain part of Canada’s history so when I saw this book and read the synopsis, I knew I just have to read this. Thank you @douglasmcintyre2013 for giving me a copy! The book follows Saul, a young Ojibway kid who was taken at a very young age and was forced in St. Jerome’s Indian Residential School. It opens in a sad tone, becomes even sadder, then turns to exciting but eventually reveals a heartbreaking past and introduces a hopeful ending. Richard Wagamese wrote it beautifully and realistically. It invokes feelings of sadness, hatred, and anger. But it also shows how the power of spirit and love for family can help people heal. 10/10 would recommend this book. #qotd what other books about this certain phase of Canada’s history would you recommend? 🔖 #indianhorse #saulindianhorse #richardwagamese #douglasmcintyre #bookishcanadians #bookblogger #bibliophile #bookstagramcanada #bookstagramphilippines #bookstagramfeature #bookishcommunity #booksofinstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #igreads #bookworld #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #bookgram #booklover #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #goodreads #historicalfiction #literaryfiction #sportsfiction #canadianliterature (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfH_rWOLFOa/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I’m dreaming of adventures and traveling across the ocean…In reality, I have way too many phobias to ever undertake such a journey😢 Luckily, there are books about things I might never do in my life. Like this one by Michael Ondaatje, through which I can experience the excitement of traveling alone across the blue vastness, the fear of being tied up to the deck in a storm. I’ll meet a bunch of strangers that will tell me their secrets and keep their mysteries to themselves. I’ll make lifelong friends the way children do so easily and go and live my life with those memories. #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #instabooks #instabookstagram #whattoread #whattoreadnext #michaelondaatje #thecatstable #comingofagestory #historicalfictionbooks #canadianliterature #canadianauthors #travellingwithbooks (at Tallinn, Estonia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRoP_OHLqc7/?utm_medium=tumblr

🇬🇧finally catching up with posting about my #resentreads I finished #huckleberryfinn by #marktwain awhile ago, but couldn’t get myself to post about it. I kind of liked the book and the storie, mostly because I was reading #thebookofnegroes by #lawrencehill and it was really interesting to see the Jim’s life from a differentere perspective. #americanliterature #bookstagram #canadianliterature #booklover #littlegingerbookninja https://www.instagram.com/p/B_zinyoqToO/?igshid=391avecm2pds

Happy World Poetry Day! I’m thrilled to have received a print copy of Issue 246 “Refugee Worldmaking: Canada and the Afterlives of the Vietnam War” of the quarterly, Canadian Literature. This special issue features a review and discussion of GHOST FACE alongside Monika Sok’s (@monicajuice) beautiful and haunting collection, A NAIL THE EVENING HANGS ON. This personal and scholarly review took my breath away. As a Cambodian adoptee, it also means the world to me to have my writing considered a work of Cambodian diaspora literature. So very honoured and grateful. Read the online version of the review by Lina Chhun in its entirety at the following link: (https://canlit.ca/article/where-ghosts-reside/) . . . #gregsantos #monicasok #ghostfacepoetry #canadianliterature #worldpoetryday2022 #poetry #poetryreview #bookreview #worldpoetryday #adopteevoices #khmerpride (at Montreal, Quebec) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbXwH8ZAsbHM0uNWqLRY8nAKfK4OznAb24Tzpg0/?utm_medium=tumblr
