I’ll never be able to properly put into words what Mary Oliver’s work means to me and how I feel when I read her words. I’m grateful I found a voice to lead me out of the hole I was digging, to further separate myself from the world. I’ve always loved the world, but as I got older the pain was overwhelming. I didn’t know what to do with the love in me. Oliver reminds me how important that love is and how to honor it.

I discovered this book as I was laying in bed enjoying my ongoing battle with what I can only assume is the flu. I easily managed to read Ivy Smoak’s Temptation in less than four hours. While there are a few quirks which I will discuss later, the potent attraction between Penny and Professor Hunter drives the story forward relentlessly. 

The main reason that I would suggest Temptation as an addition to anyone’s TBR list is based entirely on the chemistry between the two main characters. This story is a prime example of one that would be classified as an easy read. 

I am going to be incredibly blunt right now,.. The only part of this book that stands out in my memory is the chemistry that I mentioned between Penny and Professor Hunter. The other aspects of the story blended together and left a lackluster taste in this reader’s mouth. 

Now, there was obviously something about this story that kept my attention. Obviously, since I read the entire book in one sitting. Basically, if you are looking for a quick read filled with scenes that will have you reaching for the toys you keep hidden then give this one a try. 

Did anyone else have mixed feelings??

✨Review✨ Heaven by Mieko Kawakami ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you have been thinking about reading this book, this is your sign to go pick it up! #chefskiss . SOPOILERS . Yesterday I finished reading this little piece of gold. Heaven is the story of two teenagers being bullied at school and forming a platonic friendship. The book has this Gorgeous dialogues between these two characters whose social ineptitude make for interesting, deep and unfiltered conversations about life, society and purpose. My favorite character was the protagonist’s stepmother, they have all these wholesome interactions and she seems to love her stepson so much. I just loved all scenes where the two of them were together. Mieko Kawakami has a talent for creating characters that seem real, they all give the impression of having a backstory even if it’s not written in the paper as such, you just feel how much she cared about all of them and every detail. I also (And here comes a little spoiler) particularly enjoyed a conversation he has with one of his bullies about the reason behind all the abuse and it is enlightening how this character has completely separated morality from human behavior and seems to find it unnatural and nonsensical to even think about the relation of the two. As opposed to Kojima’s character who sees her own bulling as part of an almost religious experience of enlightenment. . This book was at times adorable and at other times heartbreaking, but it had my heart from beginning to end. Would highly recommend. .
