Book Review The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes Thanks to @librofm for my copy of the book! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I think the book was good, maybe it affects on the method you used to consume it. I imagine I would have been bored if I read it but as I listened to it, it was interesting enough to keep me listening. At first, when I saw this available on Libro FM I checked the ratings and was disappointed as it is in the low 3 stars but I read the blurb and I thought I'd give it a try. It did not disappoint. To me, it built the tension nicely before what really happened to Maya's bestfriend comes to light. It shows Maya's struggles as an effect of what happened. Finished: Feb 16, 2023 Book 3 of 2023 🔖 #thehouseinthepines #reesesbookclub #librofm #bookishcanadians #bookblogger #bibliophile #bookstagramcanada #bookstagramphilippines #audiobookstagram #audiobooksta #audiobookrecs #audiobookish #audiobookcommunity #bookrecommendations #bookishcommunity #iloveaudiobooks #currentlylistening #bookcommunity #audiobooklover #audiobooklistener #audiobookblog #audiobook #audiobooks #goodreads #bookreview (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoxQdJQpQR6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I bought Into The Drowning Deep a few months ago, I'm looking forward to reading it very soon. It's definitely one of my many horror hopefuls of 2023! Last year I realized I loved going back to my horror roots. Don't be surprised if there's an influx of horror books in the next few months! What's a book you're looking forward to reading in 2023? Do you think you'll try a new genre or author? #happynewyear2023 #diversifyyourbookshelf #horrorreads #horrorbookstagram #bookishcommunity #bookishcanadians https://www.instagram.com/p/CnFNCkxrx8O/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Really enjoying my #currentread #rook by #sharoncameron its #yadystopian but for once its not in the US, its in Paris or “The Sunken City” because the city collapsed into different levels and the heroine spends her time breaking people out of the lower levels who would be executed by the corrupt authorities and trying not to get caught by a too curious fiance her father assigned her and an obsessed detective. Really unique and enjoyable read so far! #bookstagram #bookish #bookishcanadians #bookishfeatures #booksofinstagram #bookaddict #bookworm #booklover #bookaholic #book #yabooks #yabookstagram #yabookrecommendation #bookrecommendations #bookrecommendation #readersofinstagram #readerscommunity #readmorebooks #reading #readmore https://www.instagram.com/p/CiN0h-VOEKn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

You got #Bookmail!! We worked with @simonbooks to offer a limited number of signed copies of Fevered Star, the sequel to Black Sun! You can get yours on our @facebookapp, @instagram, @shopify, @tiktok, or @pinterest store. Audiobook is also available on @@librofm!!! Reposted from @theliterarydisenchantress What’s your most anticipated new release of 2022? @rebeccaroanhorse ‘s newest in the Between Earth and Sky series came out a couple weeks ago and I’m so excited to read it!!! I found Black Sun unexpectedly different in terms of writing style from Trail of Lightning but I thoroughly enjoyed this epic, Meso-American inspired world. Roanhorse genuinely surprised me with her depiction of some classic creatures and the grande finale left me on the edge of my seat. I definitely want to read while the unique mythology and world politics are still fresh! Update: just bought a signed copy from @sistahscifi 🤯🤯🤯 #feveredstar #betweenearthandsky #rebeccaroanhorse #readmorewomenofcolor #bookishcanadians #indigenouswomen #womensupportingwomen #readtheworldchallenge #readingforpleasure #readingfantasy #fantasybooksseries #epicreads #bookstagram #bookblogger #tbr #bookphotography #SistahScifi https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdf9FkyLH9N/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

WINNER! 2014 ReLit AWARD (NOVEL CATEGORY)
Nate’s nervous mother chews gum at warp speed and has a bob that resembles Darth Vader’s helmet. His icy father dabbles part-time in the death trade at a funeral home after working for a decade in the insurance racket. His older sister Holly is always lurking in the shadows or away at school. Nate, a creative, messy, and anxious teen, has chosen Randy Savage as his hero. As he finishes high school, the world to which Savage belongs is quickly waning in popularity, and Nate begins to see the wrestler’s downfall mirrored in his own life. But not until the family dismantles for good in 1994 does Nate’s life truly begin to fracture.
Savage 1986-2011 chronicles the middle-class implosion of Nate’s nuclear family, bracketed by July 1986 — when he first saw Randy Savage in person — and the wrestler’s sudden death in May 2011. When Savage dies, Nate is freed from beliefs — once a source of beauty and escape — that had come to constrict him, fusing him to a moribund past.
The novel is about the blurred lines between child and adult roles and the ever-changing landscape of interior heroism. Whether dealing with a family’s economic turbulence, the scarring effects of teenage love, or creating a new family order, Moore revisits, remasters, and repackages a twenty-five year family odyssey with guts, honesty, and love.
ADVANCE PRAISE FOR SAVAGE 1986-2011
“This is Running Backwards with Scissors in Leaside. Nathaniel G. Moore’s emotional atomic drops and body slams in Savage (1986-2011) put the nuke in nuclear family. Moore writes in Technicolor™ — he’s a poet of fractured reality, minstrel of meltdown, clown prince of sad suburban absurdity.” –Zsuzsi Gartner, author of Better Living Through Plastic Explosives
“Moore does something quite large here. He builds that cardboard box in your basement. The one filled with things you’ve forgotten, or tried to. You don’t want to open it but once you do you find it quite impossible to close or to forget. Much like the too tight, just right words you’ll find in Savage 1986-2011, reflecting a world which now cannot be unbuilt. This is familiar country visited in a brand new way. Open the box.” –Michael Blouin, author of the award-winning Chase and Haven
“Author Nathaniel G. Moore presents an inter-generational family saga so remote from the tropes overworked by fellow Canadian authors that one hesitates to even label it a ‘novel’ – a word, for me, poisoned by too many visits to the cow barn (and the silent, fraught-with-baking-eulogies kitchen table).” –RM Vaughan, author of Spells
“Like one of those albums you can’t stop playing, Savage is immediately catchy, thrilling and electric with an honest beauty and wild energy. Nathaniel Moore brings us on a journey into a hidden world of secret lovers, cool sisters, morgues, wrestlers and exorcisms that shimmers and ignites behind the facades of ordinary suburbia. This book is a great read, but it’s also an insightful, moving look at a family and society on the verge of collapse.” –Rebecca Godfrey, author of The Torn Skirt
REVIEWERS ON SAVAGE “…cringe-inducingly honest and uncommonly brave … Savage succeeds best as a showcase for Moore’s convulsively unbridled prose acrobatics. Like a punch-drunk anti-Hemingway, he tosses around verbiage like Pollock flung paint: promiscuously, recklessly. … There’s little joy in what he describes, but much joy — and improbable gobs of humour — in the describing.” –Broken Pencil

Book 1 of 2023 Layla by Colleen Hoover Book Review Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OMG this book is out of this world! It’s definitely a whole spectrum of emotions for me as a reader: happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, relief. I love how it was written, how it evokes emotion. **spoiler alert: during the conflict (which I believe was the longest conflict I’ve read) I felt disgusted by what Leeds was doing, using someone’s body to communicate with an entirely different entity but it all makes sense in the end.** This isn’t the first book I opened for the year but this is the first one I’ve finished and I read it in less than a day. It definitely is going to my favourites this year. I chose to work from home today so I can spend more hours to read and finish it. This is definitely going to my favorites and book recs 😍 I immediately ordered my physical copy so I could transfer my annotations!!! It’s arriving on Sunday 🥰 🔖 #layla #laylacolleenhoover #cohobooks #cohobookreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #fivestarread #bookishcanadians #bookblogger #bibliophile #bookstagramcanada #bookstagramphilippines #bookstagramfeature #bookishcommunity #booksofinstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #igreads #bookworld #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #bookgram #booklover #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #goodreads (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnYdWJir5zD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#Repost @guernicaeditions with @make_repost ・・・ Thank you @artismedia905 ! A Map of Rain Days invites us into the liminal between the nights and the "too-bright days." The author navigates a life felt full-on, inhabiting all its beauty and shadows -- the "slap-tumble" of sex, "the mean streets of the suburbs," "the swill and gore" of youth. Interwoven into this life are the realities of racism, addiction, suicide, rape, and death. And then clarity ensues. Visit our website to purchase your copy. 📚 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀! Monday again. I smile every time someone says that since they are at home, they do not know what day it is. I am still working, so I am quite aware of what day it is, and I envy them a bit. I finished reading 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 by Meg Wolitzer. This is a fantastic read about a young woman who takes her place in this world. The book treats the subjects of love, feminism, friendship, loss, betrayal, and forgiveness. I relate to this book and its main character. I have tried all my life to do good to others and was often hurt in the process. This has not stopped me, but I am more careful and learned from my experience. The book is beautifully written and showcases the struggle and success of non-profit organisations geared to help women. It is an ode to all feminists who have wanted to improve women’s rights. . 💌 My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️/5 . 🕵🏼‍♀️ About the author: 𝗠𝗲𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 is the New York Times–bestselling author of The Interestings, The Uncoupling, The Ten-Year Nap, The Position, The Wife, and Sleepwalking. She is also the author of the young adult novel Belzhar. Wolitzer lives in New York City. . 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thank you, 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 for sending me a final copy of this beautiful novel. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 by Meg Wolitzer is available at your favourite bookstore. . 👩🏼‍🏫 𝗤𝗢𝗧𝗗: What is your favourite magazine?
