Book Review The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes Thanks to @librofm for my copy of the book! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I think the book was good, maybe it affects on the method you used to consume it. I imagine I would have been bored if I read it but as I listened to it, it was interesting enough to keep me listening. At first, when I saw this available on Libro FM I checked the ratings and was disappointed as it is in the low 3 stars but I read the blurb and I thought I'd give it a try. It did not disappoint. To me, it built the tension nicely before what really happened to Maya's bestfriend comes to light. It shows Maya's struggles as an effect of what happened. Book Review 💃 Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by @mazeyeddings ❤️ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thoughts: First of all, another not work appropriate book!! From the very first chapter, this one is steamy! It started as funny but became a tearjerker at about 70% of the book. This is the fastest I’ve finished an audiobook. That Australian accent is hawt and both the main characters are funny. I found this audiobook available on netgalley so I thought I’d request it. If you know me, you know that I love historical fiction especially the regency era. I think this book is very much inspired by Bridgerton. This one talks about a certain blue stocking lady who didn’t have any plans of marrying and having children until she had to accompany a friend to the season and meets the dastardly duke who has a very infamous reputation. No this is not an enemies to lovers trope, more like fake dating. I loved how it was written and narrated. Mackenzie White was often treated with disrespect and her authority was constantly being undermined by her peers who thought her pretty face won’t be able to crack such a case. Same writing style as in Girl, Alone, it is a suspenseful plot driven story. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I’m wondering what happened to the last victim. Other than that, it was very exciting to listen to as I move around the house!
