I can’t stop thinking about how Ed needed Izzy to die first before he tried to kill himself. No one else actually mattered to him at all; Frenchie, Jim, Fang, it’s debatable if he even knows Archie’s name- they’re just accessories to his own death. But Izzy’s death mattered enough that he had to intimidate Frenchie into revealing Izzy’s location just so that Ed could go and leave Izzy with a gun knowing exactly what he would do when left alone with it. He needed Izzy to die first because he knew Izzy would try to stop him. He needed Izzy to die first because he needed everyone who loved him to be gone. He needed Izzy to die first because no matter how much he could hurt Izzy, could walk him right up to the very edge of death, Ed could never be the one to actually kill Izzy himself. If Ed was going to take them all down at the end of the day, Izzy had to already be dead by his own hand because Ed couldn’t do it. Not to Izzy.

Could i pls request a siren jin♡,,,one where he finds you after a storm in a shipwreck and he like nurses you back to health but when your finally ready to go he won't actually let you. You can decide the ending🙇‍♀️
A/N: thank you for requesting, my love, I hope you enjoy~
The cruise ship rocked back and forth repeatedly, waves crashing into the sides. Rain poured from the dark cumulonimbus clouds, successfully soaking through your clothing. Thunder and lightning rang and flashed all around. Panicked screams sounded from every room of the ship. You were holding onto the side rail tightly. You could barely keep your eyes open long enough to see the monstrous wave that was about to collide with the ship.
Almost everyone knew it was safer to stay on the large vessel rather than get on a smaller one and risk the chance of being drowned by the ocean itself. Although, it seems this boat wasn’t going to last much longer. The few people that did lower themselves in a raft down into the water were quickly flipped over and taken by the unforgiving sea.
Your soaked hair whipped in every which way before the wave came down on the ship. Your grip on the metal railing slipped as the entire cruise was flipped until it was sideways before crashing into the depths of the sea. A hook from the ship caught into your shirt and into your side as you attempted to swim back up to the surface. You watched as more people and debris began to float to the surface.
This was it. You had no way of surviving. Your lungs were running out of oxygen and you were sinking farther and farther to the seafloor. You relaxed your muscles and let out your last bit of breath, closing your eyes. You should have never accepted the ticket your friend had given you.
Breathing in, water filled your airway, burning. Faintly, you felt a tug on the hook that was dug into your side. Your eyes open just slightly to see a man taking the hook out of your flesh and felt his arms wrap around you.
Your vision turned black before you could look at your savior.
Tumblr media
The sound of crashing water woke you. Eyes cracked open to be met with a cave ceiling. The hand resting by your side could feel a scratchy fabric underneath you. Your other hand laid on your stomach. You went to sit up only to lay back down again from the shooting pain in your side. Groaning while gently nursing your side, you looked down to see your shirt, now dried, with a bloodstain. Carefully, you lifted your shirt up to see bandages wrapped around your torso.
“Finally, you’re awake, I was starting to worry you would never wake up,” a voice came from your right making your head turn.
Your eyes landed on the man you remember before losing consciousness. His wet pink hair was slicked back, broad shoulders dripping with water. Muscly arms rested on the lip of the tide pool he treaded in. The sound of rushing water you had woken up to was the waterfall meeting the river that led outside of the cave you were in.
The man’s cyan eyes stay on you as you moved your head around to look at your new and unfamiliar surroundings. He studied your expression, your body, all the small movements you made hadn’t gone unnoticed by him. His gut trembled with hunger as he couldn’t look away from you. He felt parched even though he was in a pool of water.
“Wait...how come you were able to save me from that deep in the water?” you looked at him scrutinizing.
“Haha, well, ya see…” he brought the end of his tail high enough for you to see his monofin.
“All right, I’m out,” you went to stand but the pain in your side had you slowly lay back down, taking deep breaths through the pain.
“Doesn’t seem like you’re going anywhere, Moonlight.”
Moonlight? What an odd nickname. Although, this whole situation was odd. You didn’t have much of a choice, you could barely move without being in immense pain and you had no idea where you were.
Meanwhile, the half-man was studying your appearance. Normally the humans that were stranded or in need of help were men that made the journey to feed their egos. What was an extraordinary specimen like you doing all the way out here? His webbed hands reached towards your arm. Your skin was so smooth compared to his scaly skin.
With the touch of the man’s cold hand, it brought your attention to his face. His slicked, almost dry, hair was a rose pink that matched well with his pale skin. His plump rosy lips pursed as he studied your skin more. Guess the folklore and tales were actually true, merpeople do exist. There was something...off about him though. As if he wasn’t a normal merman based on stories. The sharp teeth that poked out when he spoke and the claws that lightly dragged across your skin were not the basic portrayals of a merman.
“What are you exactly?” you couldn’t keep the question from coming out but since you were stuck here, might as well learn about your inhuman savior.
He chuckled, “I’m what you humans call a siren.”
“Like the ones that lure people to their death with singing?”
“Is that what you humans think? We don’t have to sing to get humans under our spells. They merely have to look at us and they’ll be entranced if we so wish,” he explained as if he wasn’t admitting to killing humans.
He noticed your concerned expression and decided to reassure you, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat you. If I was going to I would’ve already done it. Besides, there was more than enough food from the rest of the wreck.”
“Why did you save me?”
“Cause you’re cute.”
It was simple and short. Nothing about it was sweet. Who knows how many other lives he could have saved especially if he had time to bandage your wound and eat while you were unconscious.
“If you keep staring at me like that then I’m going to have to eat you,” he chuckled as your eyes widened before darting away. He found you so adorable yet so delectable. There was no doubt in his mind that you would be the sweetest thing he’s ever tasted. However, he couldn’t bring himself to eat you. Something about you had pulled him to your location. That’s how he found the shipwreck. That part of the ocean belonged to someone else but he didn’t care at the time.
You went to ask for the siren’s name when your gut made a loud growling noise. Your cheeks turned red as you keep your gaze away from the smirking man next to you.
“Seems like my little human is hungry. I’ll be right back,” he chuckled again before submerging under the water and swam away.
This gave you a chance to look around, the dewy rock walls led up to an opening with the moon shining directly down into the cave you laid in. It was full and glowing brightly. You could hear the waves colliding with the outside of the rock formation around you. It was so dangerously calming.
“I’m back~” the siren popped his head out of the water, startling you. “I got you a mackerel!” he slapped the fish right beside you as he grinned.
You watched as water dripped down his smiling face. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
Tumblr media
Over the past three weeks, you’ve learned that your savior’s name was Seokjin. He’d been taking care of you, never leaving your side for too long. You had started changing your bandages due to Seokjin’s claws accidentally catching on your sutures and reopening the wound. If he kept changing the bandages your wound would never heal.
Now the cut is almost completely healed and you’ve been thinking of ways to get home when Seokjin wasn’t talking your ear off. For someone who didn’t like humans very much, he liked to talk to you for hours. You wondered how he had so many stories to tell.
“Moonlight, what are you thinking about?” Seokjin’s voice pierced through your thoughts.
“Just trying to think of a way to get back home?” you sighed as you continued to drag your finger through the sand absentmindedly.
“Leave? Why would you want to leave?” his brows furrowed and his face scrunched up in disgust.
“Well...I can’t stay here. I have a life back home. Friends, work, I’m sure no one has any idea where I am. Or even if I’m alive for that matter,” you hoped you weren’t making your friends sick with worry.
Seokjin began laughing. It started as a chuckle and progressed to a sickening cackle that echoed throughout the cave. You slowly shuffled back until you hit the rough cave wall. Still, it wasn’t far enough from the crazed siren in front of you.
“You can’t leave, Moonlight. You’re mine,” he chuckled before pulling himself out of the tide pool and onto the sand. His long tail transformed into legs, allowing him to walk over to you and crouch down. He held your chin between his fingers, “I’ll never let you go. I’m your life now.”
“Let me go home,” your wide eyes were staring into his.
Your mind was going blank as a smirk stretched across his features. Your eyes could no longer focus. You willed your limbs to move but they wouldn’t comply. Soon, you couldn’t think at all. Seokjin wasn’t allowing you to even think of leaving him behind.

The OP Boys & Their Personal Dirty Secrets pt. 2
Tumblr media
A/N : Hey hun! I hope you like this! ( i can’t tag you idk why ) I saw you wanted a part two to this and decided to do it because it was fun. I guess, lol. anyways hope you like this! :>
Soooo, don’t judge the gif I couldn’t find anything else. Also I’m kinda tired ;-; alsooo. these ones are a LITTLE bit dirtier.
Warning : NSFW AHEAD! PROCEED WITH CAUTION! ⚠️ ESPECIALLY W/ THATCH.
kid and mihawk don’t have specific dark secrets since I couldn’t think of anything that would yk connect to them. ;-;
Summary : All of these boys and their personal, hidden dirty secrets. PART TWO!
-
Doflamingo
Oh boy, this male, despite his possessiveness, has a bit of a voyeurism kink. He hasn’t yet, but he DEFINITELY wants to turn on the country wide announcement, ( like those screens whatever used in Dressrosa when he talked ) and just fuck you as everyone watches throughout the island. He dreams of it, and one day, HE WILL make it a reality.
“How does it feel?” The lick of his lips and the shit-eating grin was on display all over the island for the people of Dressrosa to see, the image of Doflamingo’s hips thrusting and making contact with your rear.
“Does it feel good to have the whole island watching you being fucked senseless, by me? Their king?”
You couldn’t respond, lost in the insane amount of pleasure that ran through your body, specifically your lower regions. You didn’t even care that you were being watched, basking in the euphoria you were given at the moment.
Doffy’s strings suspended you partially in air, the material binding your body so you couldn’t move in the slightest as he took you from behind.
Arms wrapped around your bare figure, one holding you thigh tightly while the other wrapped around your torso, his hand grasping your throat and his fingers, pressing itself onto the flesh of your neck.
If you were fortunate, your face was cut off from the screen to be visible but your exposed body was seen by everyone who watched.
Doflamingo felt glory and power, as he continued to fuck you for all to see, your sweet, melodic moans echoing through the island as he did this.
What a fantasy that will soon become a reality.
-
Kid
Literally anything but also nothing. I couldn’t think of anything.. so here’s a kink he has! Dominant Submission. (?) basically, he LOVES the submissive ones, but those who really fight back. Feisty bitches yk? But like, he knows you’re all talk because he’ll have you begging for him on your knees once the two of you really get started. ;)
You’re teasing the hell out of Kid. You’re being bad by ignoring Kid and disobeying his orders and the Captain has had enough.
He barges into your room, slamming the door shut with the lock clicking on and before you could react, he has his hand around your throat and your back shoved to the wall.
“You think you’re being funny?” He growls into your ear, instantly using his free hand to rip your clothes off in a swift pull.
Despite the lack of air you had, your face still formed a sly and cheeky smirk in response. “I..I think it’s.. hilarious. Ha.”
Kid scowls before slowly smirking himself and tightened his grip on your neck a little bit more, but not enough to actually kill you. ( he cares after all :> )
“Tch. Looks like you need a punishment.” He drags you over to your bed and shoves you roughly done onto him, unbuckling his pants and pulled the belt out from the loops and pressed the two ends together so he had an able whipping belt. ( make sense? )
You merely grin at this and tilt your head. “Oh? Is that for me?” You hum and sat up, legs up and spread for him to see your already getting wet pussy, arms over you knees.
The sight of it made Kid growl lowly before he walks closer to you. “Time for you to face the consequences of pissing me off.”
With one hand, he forces you down onto the bed, breasts against the mattress and your ass forcefully in the air.
And with the raise of his other hand, it was only seconds before a loud whip was heard.
Tears stings the corner of your eyes but you still held strong, biting your lip. “Is that all you got? Guess you weren’t so angry.” You laugh and Kid didn’t respond, only whipping you once more, a little more force.
“Don’t you worry. I have all night long.”
[ I could write a whole OneShot about this, I had to stop lol ]
-
Marco
Little bit harder, buttt, come on. Sex in the air? Marco’s dream, for sure. And if he’s going to admit it, yes, he has done sexual activities in the air, where no one would be around.
The blonde doctor soars across the sky, a little ways away from the ship, not too far to lose sight but enough where he wouldn’t be seen, regardless of it being the time of night.
He’s only ever done it once or twice, but the no matter how many times Marco would do it again afterwards, the first time experience couldn’t ever be bested.
Sexual activities in the air.
Yet, that didn’t mean Marco didn’t love the thrill and excitement it brought him, especially when he did it so often in his younger days.
Extending his bright cyan blue wings out and around him, Marco palms himself through his pants, shutting his eyes before slightly lowering his pants enough to release his cock into the exposed cold air.
Marco shivers before reeling back and moving so he was laying down, his wings as support. One left propped up and his fingers wrapped itself around his shaft, his touch slow.
With nothing but the moon lighting down on him and the refreshing night breeze in the midnight sky, Marco felt at ease as he continues to rub his length in a teasingly slow motion, only increasing in speed seconds after.
Marco won’t lie, when it came to his release, he often did it into his hands and a bit dripping down onto his hips and chest,
but it felt good letting his cum spurt into the ocean.
-
Thatch
It’s pretty known that Thatch is a real perv with large sexual desires. ( at least to me because of @ honeybakedthatch lol ) however, this personal secret is his dirtiest one yet.
Thatch bit his lip as he grunted out a soft groan, feeling the rest of his warm, bitter cum shooting out from his tip and into the leftover mixture of cream and condensed milk he made for the cinnamon buns.
Pulling his pants up and zipping it tight, Thatch made sure to thoroughly mix the cum and mixture together with a plastic spoon before drizzling it over the cinnamon buns he left out just for you.
The plastered grin Thatch wore merely widens as he watched the ordinary looking cinnamon buns look identical to the others, but he knew the pleasant surprise in taste that differed.
Just as he finished drizzling the cream, the door opened, you having walked in. “Thatch, I smell something good! What is it?”
The cheery, innocent smile you had made Thatch smirk a bit, the imagination all too pleasant, the thought of you eating his delicious cinnamon buns.
“I made cinnamon buns. Here, I made these especially for you.” Thatch holds out the separate plate he had and walks closer to you, placing a sweet kiss on your temple before letting you take the plate and fork.
“Enjoy. If it’s a bit too bitter, let me know and I’ll.. sweeten it up for you.”
-
Mihawk
This stoic ass man is such an intimate, romanticist, he doesn’t quite have very dirty secrets.. but, one kink he secretly has is bondage and slight corruption. He won’t ever mention it but if you bring it up, he’ll voice his opinions on it.
“Now, now, love. You should be careful.”
Mihawk’s strict but amused tone was evident as he sat in his chair and watched you writhe in the tight black silk ribbons that bounded you on the ground.
Your arms were tied behind your back, your vision blocked by a silk blindfold and your legs were forced spread by a ankle bar, exposing your bare heat towards Mihawk.
You were leaning against a table/chair, and the only thing you could hear were Mihawk’s praises and warnings, along with the humming vibration that came from the vibrator strapped to your clit.
“You might loosen the binds, and you know you don’t want that, do you?” Mihawk sternly questions and you shook your head, biting your lip to prevent yourself from moaning out too loud.
“Oh? You aren’t responding?” Mihawk smiles slightly as he leans on his hand, elbow on the armrest of his chair. “I asked you a question.”
You gasp out in realization and stammered out, trying to close your legs from the shock and orgasm you keep receiving.
“I-I mean no.. h-hah.. ah.. I, I don’t want it to loosen.” Your blush darkens at the embarrassment you held, but you loved this, just as much as Mihawk did.
-
Shanks
I could come up with a bunch of things but the first thing my mind went to was — sex tapes. Shanks is all for EVERYTHING but I feel like sex tapes seal the deal. Especially since he hooks up with so many women, I’m sure.
Shanks watches as the woman below him arches her back and curls her toes in pure bliss and euphoria.
The loud moans escaping her lips and filling the motel rooms only edged him further.
His tight grip on the woman’s left thigh glides up to grab the soft mound flesh on her left, his fingers twisting the little perky bud as he thrusted his hips roughly into her, eliciting a louder pleasurable cry.
The sound of skin slapping was the only thing heard other than the heavy grunts of Shanks and the mewls of the woman being fucked into oblivion.
Shanks, despite having the time of his life and was nearing his climax as he continued to thrust into the two small and tight lips, it’s walls clenching around him, could only think about the recording camera on its designated position on top of the drawer.
As much as he loved the real experience at the current moment, he couldn’t wait to rewatch the recording of it and relive the experience that way.
-
A/N: here you go, hun! I know you wanted a part 2 with these characters and I hope this went out you expected and wanted! :>
A few don’t have proper endings but it’s gooddd enoughhh for me. :p
jus wondering, what do y’all think Kid has? Master, sir, daddy or captain kink? Or none and just his name?
Law def has a “doc/doctor” kink lol but since I’m at it, I don’t think Marco has that.

Could you do a fic where High tide finds out how bad M.E.C.H is after Optimus shows up on the deck of his ship because the ground bridge is down and High tide is the closest, I don't see much of him so I wanted to ask
I’d love to! High Tide is a fun character, first impressions aside, and I always wished the show gave a little more on his relationship with Optimus. I understand why they didn’t, but hey, I can dream!
———————————————————————————————————
When Optimus Prime sent High Tide a comm. message asking him to dock his boat at a specific set of coordinates so he could board, and to be prepared to make a very quick getaway, High Tide’s battle protocols flared to life. They hadn’t activated since coming to Earth, since he didn’t need them when it came to working with that team of bitty younglings, and he certainly didn’t need them for his secondary mission given to him by the Prime, which was to scout Earth’s oceans for energon and mine and gather as much as he could. So when the familiar protocols roared to the forefront of his processor, it was easy to have his ship shift into its battle form, which involved the side narrowing a slight bit and a very large amount of weaponry unfolding from various parts of the boat or humming to life in hidden turrets. He easily did as his old friend asked, expecting that the Prime was facing Deceptions and possibly injured, and that’s why he needed a rescue and an escape route and not a battle assist.
Optimus Prime was indeed injured as he ran onto the ship, limping heavily, but High Tide caught no Decepticon signals on his sensors. His battle protocols whirled, trying to calculate what was going on and attempting to lock onto a target for High Tide fo fight. Still, he did as he had originally been asked and as soon as Optimus was on board he had the ship leaving and heading towards open waters. His processor still whirling with the urge to fight, the soldier grabbed his field first aid kit and went to help his commander patch himself up. He crouched next to the large mech, who was seated on the deck of the ship, and got to work.
“So Optimus, mind tellin’ me what you were runnin’ from?” he asked, his engine rumbling with battle-lust in tandem with the rasp of his voice.
The Prime only shot him a look, easily reading his posture and understanding what was going on in his processor. “Stand down, High Tide. There will be no fight today.”
“No fight!” he growled. “I think not! What ‘Con did this to you and where are they now?” he demanded, welding shut a leaking gash in the red armor.
“It was no Deception, old friend.”
High Tide froze, his optics narrowing. “No ‘Con? Then who? Humans?”
And that’s when his long distance sensors picked up the energy signatures of approaching vehicles. Approaching earth vehicles, coming from the air. High Tide’s engine snarled in displeasure, and he shot the Prime a dark look.
“This happened cause of your insistence on not harming humans, didn’t it?” he demanded. “Optimus, your dedication to being just and sowin’ as little violence as possible is one of the reasons I follow you. It means you care about life first and foremost and that makes you a very good commander. But sometimes, you take it too far!”
He sent the command to his ship to activate long-range weapons. He’d shoot the little insects out of the sky. Optimus obviously that saw the weapons on deck engaging and locking onto currently unseen targets, because he locked a hand around High Tide’s wrist.
“High Tide, do not!” he ordered.
The submarine glared at the Prime. “Tell me who they are, Optimus. I need an explanation.”
Optimus sighed. “They call themselves M.E.C.H. They are a human terrorist organization whose goal is to possess and control the most powerful and advanced technologies on the planet.”
High Tide narrowed his optics. “And right now, that’s us.”
A nod was his only reply.
“So they’re hunting Cybertronians, then? Why?”
Optimus hesitated before he answered, before he decided it might be best if his friend knew the whole story so he could understand the dangers. “They wish to cut one of us open and take them apart in order to figure out how we work. They want to create one of us themselves, on that is sparkless and mindless and follows only their commands.”
High Tide went rigid, and that was when the helicopters broke cloud cover and started barking down on the ship. He snarled, and his ship’s weapons began powering up.
“High Tide!” Optimus protested. “I said-!”
“I heard you the first time, Optimus.” High Tide said coldly. “And normally, I’d follow your orders. But you forget one thing: my primary duty as your soldier is to ensure you survive. So if I have to disobey your order to ensure you do, so be it.” He strode to the edge of the deck, gaze locking on the helicopters.
One of them stopped to hover closer to the water, and High Tide turned a cold glare onto it. “I suggest you and yours leave, little human.” he rumbled. “My ship has the firepower to take down a Decepticon war vessel.”
The apparent leader, a human with silver hair and a facial scar, only chuckled. “I think not. You robots are so squeamish about taking human lives. And besides, you’ll find that we are more than capable of handing a little heavy weaponry. We’ll come away from this endeavor with two prizes and a warship, it seems. How lovely.”
High Tide only bared his teeth in a savage grin. “I think you’ll find I have far fewer reservations about killin’ you little bugs than my commander.” he said coldly, and his ship fired. A high powered blaster bolt hit one of the other copters, blowing it to pieces and sending the wreckage falling into the sea below.
The human was obviously startled by the show, and he narrowed his eyes at the large blue Autobot. “So I see.” he said darkly.
High Tide could almost see him getting ready to give an order to attack, so he sent the ship another command. There was more fire, and then all the helicopter’s except the one in charge were nothing but flaming wreckage falling from the sky.
“Leave.” he snarled. “Last chance.”
The human narrowed his eyes, glaring, before nodding at the pilot next to him and then the helicopter was leaving, flying away and into the clouds. High Tide only relaxed when his long range sensors pinged back telling him they had left, and then he returned to his friend. His battle protocols started to cycle down, and the harsh glow of his optics lessened.
“High Tide…” Optimus sounded pained.
“I’m not going to apologize, Prime.” he said stiffly, returning to fixing up his commander. “I admire your desire for peace, I really do. But sometimes, the peaceful solution won’t work. You can’t just let them hunt you down like that. What if your refusal to fight back or let your team fight back means you lose another bot? What happens if those slag-heaps find the Rescue Bots?” he demanded.
Optimus winced, looking away. “It is wrong to use our might to kill so easily.”
“It is.” High Tide agreed. “But they weren’t non-threats, Optimus. If you keep letting them hunt you down without fightin’ back, then one of these days someone is going to suffer grievously at their hands, and with how determined all your team is to protect you…it won’t be you.” he said seriously.
Optimus was silent as High Tide finished, only looking up when the submarine stood and put the kit away. “You are right, of course.” he sounded exhausted. “But…”
“You don’t want to compromise another piece of your spark.” High Tide heaved a sigh. “I get it, Optimus. I really do. So I won’t say anythin’ about your decisions when it comes to you alone fightin’ them. But know this: I refuse to bow down and run from those humans. If they come after me, I will fight back and take out as many as I must. What happens if Blurr or Salvage are with me when they attack, Prime? Am I supposed to run and let those monsters have a chance at hurtin’ young bots who haven’t ever fought in the War?”
“…no. No, you are right, High Tide.” he heaved a sigh. “I will not protest your choices, and I thank you for your aid and for protecting me.”
High Tide relaxed, and finally let his ship return to its normal form. “I understand you, Optimus. We might disagree sometimes, but at the end of the day you’re still my friend and I will follow you, wherever this War takes us.”
Optimus shot him a tired, warm smile. “Thank you, old friend. I do not deserve such devoted loyalty from you, but I’m glad to have it nonetheless.”
High Tide grinned, clapping him on the shoulder. “Of course, Prime. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
———————————————————————————————————
Here we are! Shorter than my usual fics, but I hope you like it nonetheless!
Silas just got a very harsh lesson that not all the ‘bots will be hesitant about using lethal force. He’ll be more wary around them from here on out! And Optimus is just tired of the War and violence and death. He doesn’t want more violence, but sometimes it’s the only way to stay alive. Poor guy.
Until next time, folks!

IF I'M DOING LIKE HCS OR SMTHN I WILL DO 6 AT A TIME. I CANNOT BE WRITING 14 DIFFERENT EGOS AT ONCE I JUST CAN'T I'M SORRY. anyways enjoy!
Vampire!Reader x Egos Headcanons
General
Not much PDA
Not much going out in general
You have to cover your whole body when you do, unless it’s nighttime
You spend much of your time inside or in the forest
You’re basically nocturnal
You do drink blood, and you don’t need a lot of it
You drink human blood only if they give permission
You don’t kill people
You know or know of some other supernatural creatures that exist
You are friends with a werewolf. One specifically. You know the one.
Darkiplier
You both are edgy as all hell it’s perfect!
Politely asks you not to bite him
a) because he’s not human and b) because it’ll hurt
You both are very calm and well-spoken. So. not much happens.
However, you are both, in fact, dumb bitches, so things are still entertaining
“My darling, would you like some garli-mmm nevermind...”
You go out with him sometimes on romantic moonlit walks
You don’t have to wear as much then
You make him get a pet, a black cat specifically
He loves it
You named it Darko, Dark for short, and he hates the name
Like he hates the name a lot
It is irrational how much he hates the fucking name
He calls it DA
He never explains why
When you want blood he’ll trap a deer or something
You go into the forest and drink a little of its blood
He’s surprised
“What am I, a werewolf?”
He’ll ask you about supernatural creatures, and how to defend against them
You’re pretty sure he’s an eldritch entity so you aren’t sure why he’s asking YOU
He won’t ask how you became a vampire, that seems personal
He never gets startled when you turn into a bat
He can hear your lil wingbeats from a mile away
Sometimes you’ll sleep as a bat and he just smiles at you hanging from the fan
Fine with you not interacting with others, like he does much of that…
Just likes hanging out in your fucking giant victorian mansion with you
Wilford
We all know that his type is, in fact, edgy bitch
Therefore, you are perfect
Dark clothes? Check
Edgy backstory? Probably
Kinda scary? Oh absolutely
And he loves you for that!
He doesn’t want to be a vampire, but he fuckin loves your teeth
He’ll ask you to bare them and then he’ll do a happy wiggle afterwards
He loves dancing with you, slow or fast
It’s always romantic
He’s basically a god so like. Anything you ask for he’s gotchu
You said you were hungry and he fucking kidnapped someone
You said you were hungry, that was on you
You then explain that you don’t need a whole FUCKING PERSON
He then steals some blood bags from the hospital
“Oh, calm down! They have enough!”
Likes taking you out, so you go on night walks a lot.
You’re not used to social interaction, so he makes sure to steer you away from people
Unless you want to talk to them, then he starts up a conversation and lets you take over
You don’t understand people, and neither does he! It’s great.
Likes when you turn into a bat
He doesn’t know why, it just makes him happy
You made him adopt a black cat
He named it Colonel Whiskers
Loves you and your castle and your weird ass little quirks
Actor
Bite him.
BITE. HIM.
LET HIM BE IMMORTAL
You refuse for the sole reason that he is a dick.
You do get along because you both are, in fact, pretentious
You wear those silk robes around the house, and he gets mad at you
HE is the sexy mysterious one, COME ON!
At least you won’t have an edgier backstory than him…
Likes slow dancing with you
Very much enjoys your Aesthetic
Believes that he too belongs in a Victorian era castle isolated from the world
Loves the dark romance
Is a Fancy Boy
Was fully prepared to murder someone for you to drink their blood
Surprised when you said it wasn’t necessary???
Buys a horse or smthn
Asks about supernatural beings and which are immortal
He asks that a lot
He worries you sometimes.
Hates it when you turn into a bat
You’re small and you fly around and you’re fucking GROSS
He doesn’t. He doesn’t like animals very much. Besides dogs I mean.
Buys you clothes because you’ve been wearing the same shit for fucking EVER
Don’t worry, they’re all black, dark purple, or dark red
Sometimes you decide to go on a walk and he tags along
Possessive bitch
Thinks you’ll leave him if you talk to other people
He scares them or leads you away
Was fine with a black wolfdog you brought home after searching for food
Names it Phoenix, and you call it Nix for short
Is deeply in love with you, but will never say or show it
Yancy
He thinks you’re wonderful!
Originally a bit mean to you
He thought YOU thought you were better than him
He saw the fangs and backed off
He asked about them and you answered, so you got along
Asked if he could be a vampire
You asked if he wanted to be immortal. He declined.
Suggested you drink his blood when you were hungry
You said it wasn’t necessary, but he pushed
Stared at you the whole time
“what’s your issue” “this is very… intimate.”
On that note: has an issue with intimacy
You’re very cold naturally, so you’d want to cuddle
He awkwardly shifts away
Once he gets more comfortable, he might cuddle with you
Loves the silk robes you own, they’re so fucking COMFY
AND THE SILK SHEETS?? Heaven
Absolutely loves all the fancy shit you have
You teach him how to waltz and he teaches you how to tap dance
You have a very equal give and take relationship with everything, it’s great
Neither of you like social interaction
You will if you HAVE to but mostly keep to yourselves
You love Yancy's prison buddies
They love you too
Asked if you knew mothman
You couldn’t tell if he was joking
He absolutely Was Not joking
He sings to you sometimes
It echoes through the place and the Aesthetic man
Hates it when you turn into a bat
Bad. No. Stop. Scary.
A small animal flying at him is a no go
Alternatively: get him a pet dog and he will love you forever
He names it Elvis. Yeah you know why.
Overall loves you and your aesthetic, and you could tell even before you got together
Illinois
Excited but doesn't show it
He's met PLENTY of supernatural creatures
Ghosts, gods, there was a thing with that werewolf one time…
(He has the scars to prove it)
But a vampire? That's new
He doesn’t live at your place because he travels a lot
He still stays there sometimes between adventures
Uncomfortable with how clean it is
You are. An immortal being. And you take the time to clean. What the fuck.
“Would YOU wanna spend eternity in a dusty ass mansion?”
His flirts are often about your fangs
You threatened to bite him and he said “promise?”
Said you could drink his blood, but you said no
“I don’t know what the fuck you got in that bloodstream”
Doesn’t do walks but takes you on adventures
If it’s a cave. And you turn into a bat.
ONLY if you turn into a bat
Sidenote: he fucking adores when you turn into a bat
He just thinks they’re neat
Uncomfortable with how soft everything you own is
NOTHING is soft in nature
Except. Like a lot of things. But don’t tell him he’ll get mad
Doesn’t really want a pet bc he’ll never be home to deal with it
He’ll be fine if you get one though
He wants to name it Nathan Drake he doesn’t care what it is
NERD(see: Uncharted)
Will never EVER wear a fucking suit
He will DIE before he wears a suit fuck you
Dislikes anything remotely fancy
Talks about the creatures he’s met
you get Bard Vibes if ya know what i mean wink wink nudge nudge he's a whore is what I'm saying here
You hang out normally mostly
He refuses to acknowledge his feelings for you
Not after the mermaid incident.
He eventually will, i promise
Magnum
He’s a pirate, he doesn’t care
He’s seen sirens, ancient spirits, probably Davey Jones at some point
A vampire? Low on the list of dangerous creatures
He has a whole ship made outta wood he’s not that worried
You don't really sail with him often
When you do, you're seen as a threat to anyone and everyone
He loves that about you
Warned you not to bite him or he'd stake you
You promised not to and that was enough for him
You get along with the crew fairly well
However do NOT turn into a bat around them
They will not hesitate to shoot
"UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT, MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS!
You can maybe do it around Magnum and only Magnum
Doesn't like your house
He belongs to the sea
But can and will steal your sheets for himself
A pirate can have a little silk, as a treat
Offered his crew's blood to drink after a while
You declined because you don't know what the fuck kinda diseases they have
Doesn't really want a pet. He can't tell them what to do.
You bought an axolotl and he loves it a lot
Its name is Delta but he has deemed it Magnum Jr
Can't really. Fit. In any suits you have
He has to go out and get one personally tailored if he wants it
Likes dancing with you
Slow dancing. To Danny Boy.
He can't dance but that's ok he tries
You talk about land creatures and he talks about ocean creatures
So far he despises werewolves and skinwalkers
He likes spending as much time with you possible
He doesn't much like the idea of a relationship bc of his uh line of work
But he loves you

y’all know that dialogue from the beginning of episode 4 where you talk to Mathieu? the one where you can ask if he wants to reenact Titanic with you? yeah well i’m still salty we didn’t actually get to do that so i’m fixing it with some added self-indulgent headcanons for good measure (in second person format of course because i exclusively write and read x reader fic LMAO) headcanons will be under the cut!!
-----
“Want to come to the front of the ship with me and yell ‘I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!’?” Mathieu merely blinked in response to your suggestion, arching an eyebrow at you.
“...No? Why would I do that?” You were honestly surprised at how unenthused with the idea he was. The only other earthling in the entirety of El and didn’t event want to reenact Titanic with you! The audacity!
“Because it’s fun! Why else?” Mathieu clearly disagreed with your reasoning, narrowing his eyes at you skeptically. “Fine, be that way. I’m going to go bask in Leonardo DiCaprio’s glory all by myself, and I’m going to have a great time.” With that, you left the brunette standing on the ship’s deck. You made your way to the bow. Standing at the edge, you sucked in a deep breath of air, sticking your arms out.
“I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!!”
Mathieu:
Still as unimpressed as when you proposed the idea, to be honest. But he respects that you have the gumption to go through with it.
You glance behind you when you’re done and stick your tongue out at him before smiling triumphantly.
It’s contagious, he’ll admit...he can’t help but smile back. Maybe it would’ve been fun to join in, if only to see that smile up close...
And the way the wind is blowing through your hair is quite pretty, too...
It’s only when you wink at him that he realizes he’s been caught staring.
His cheeks turn a light shade of pink and he looks away, running a hand through his hair in that way he always does. This time, though, there is a noticeable sheepishness in the gesture that isn’t usually present.
Later you tease him about it, saying he should’ve thrown his ego away and joined you if he was just going to watch all the fun you were having and shoot envious eyes from the sidelines the whole time!
Yeah...that’s definitely why he was staring...cough...
Lance:
Literally what in the name of fuck are you doing? - his inner monologue
AT FIRST
He’s an observant man; he looks around for context. Honestly, the way Mathieu is rolling his eyes and Koori is laughing at the scene makes him think you lost a bet of some sort and were purposefully embarrassing yourself.
But before he can think any more on the matter, you turn around with this brilliant smile on your face.
(heart eyes.jpg) It’s such a far cry from the sides of you he has seen up until now; he’s only ever seen you distressed or enraged...both of which were due to his actions and presence.
Seeing the crinkle of your eyes when you’re genuinely happy is new and, dare he say it...intriguing. Beautiful, even.
But then the sun hits your hair just right and you almost have a halo around you and suddenly he remember who he is looking at: the savior of El, the hero who saved the entire world...from him. And he remembers he has no right to be looking at you like this, to be peering in on your moment of joy. So he looks back out over the horizon instead.
Leiftan:
Ah, there’s the Y/N he knows. Always there to bring levity to his aching heart.
...Even if he has no idea what the fuck you’re doing.
Just be careful, please!! Don’t topple over the edge of the ship!! He’s a worrywart, be patient with him.
If he weren’t in self-imposed ‘all things to do with Y/N’ exile, he’d be heading right over to ask just what the hell you were doing.
But then the wind rustles your hair and you turn around, resting your elbows on the railing, and oh...the sunlight creates a halo around your head as you close your eyes, clearly enjoying the salty sea air.
Mans about to have a heart attack! You look just as stunning as you did the day he lost you (and himself but he doesn’t really care about that part) to the crystal.
He can literally feel your angelic aura singing, calling out to him in that moment, but he squeezes his eyes shut and shakes it off. He has sworn off anything of the sort. No matter how mesmerizing you are, he can’t give in...(yet)
Nevra:
“Good to know you’re taking this mission seriously, Y/N.”
We’ve got a Debbie Downer on our hands, folks! Ugh! (Just say, “You weren’t as much of a party pooper before I died for seven years.” That’ll shut him up!)
“I’ll have you know I am taking this perfectly seriously,” you turn your body around to face him, and he resists the urge to smile at the grin you meet his gaze with. “In fact, what I just did is a tradition on Earth for sailors. It promotes safe travels.”
“Is that so?” As you nod assuredly, the vampire rolls his eyes. He knows you’re bluffing...but he’ll still probably ask Mathieu about it later. When you’re out of earshot, of course.
“I learned from the best that having a little fun on missions never hurt anyone,” you say, thinking back to your first few missions with him, back before the crystal. Back when he was...different.
“And I learned that it can kill,” argumentative as always, he was...you sighed. Seven years in a coma and your favorite mischief buddy had shoved a stick up his ass while you were gone! Damn.
He noticed the disappointment in your eyes, then, as the sun vanished behind a cloud. Shit. He didn’t...he never meant...ugh. “...If the journey to Genkaku goes well, I suppose your sailor’s tradition will be proven to work.” He was happy to see your face light up the slightest bit at his peace offering.
“It’s gonna be smooth sailing from here on out, and I’m gonna rub it in your face after.” “I look forward to it,” despite himself, his lips tilted upwards the slightest bit. He felt lighter, much more ready to face the mission ahead...as well as your teasing if you were right about the trip in the end.
Koori (because I’m gay and I love her):
Stands next to Mathieu and laughs. Like a lot. What can she say? What you’re doing is already funny enough, but the fact it’s making Mathieu facepalm is just the perfect cherry on top!
She loves when you get mischievous like this. She happily approaches you to ask what you’re doing.
“I’m reenacting a human movie by myself since Mathieu is too much of a coward to join me.” (There’s a clear “Hey!” in the background but the two of you mutually elect to ignore it.)
“Is this the same movie with the Let It Go song Mathieu likes to sing?” She asks, and you laugh. “No, but is it probably just as famous. It’s about a huge cruise ship that sank.”
“Don’t tell me you just set us up to get swallowed by the ocean!” Her ears pressed down to her head as she joked with you. She watched you laugh, the sun shining off your hair and creating a slight halo effect. It kind of reminded her of when she was able to create that illusion of your angel powers for you, only much, much prettier...
She asks for you to tell her all about the Titanic “so we can avoid the same fate,” but in reality she just wants to stare at you in this lighting, in this moment, for longer.
Soon enough the two of you are sat on the stairs to the bow while you blabber on the whole story. She watches the way your eyes light up as you recount the dramatic bits and smiles. You’re so cute. You’ll make this rough journey easier on her, she’s sure of it.

Ya want some WORLD-BUILDING????
Have some world-building!
*REMINDER* This is based on characters, not real people.  I’m not going to be writing any shipping/smut content, especially involving minors.  Please be respectful of content creators’ boundaries!
The Crystallos Empire (AKA the Antarctic Empire)
Largest the countries (takes up most of the southern half of the map) but agreed to stop expansion after a bloody battle with Valeriana
Centered on a large snowy mountain in the middle of the tundra
Mostly stays out of other countries’ business, but will step in as a last resort
Has some of the most well-known citizens in the world because… they’re pure chaos
Attack at your own peril
Has vast deposits of ores and gemstones, and the metalwork from Crystallos (mainly weaponry, armor, and jewelry) is highly sought after
The only known food export is potatoes.  Wonder why…
Associated Colors: Royal blue, light blue, crimson, gold
Aesthetic/Vibes: gothic vibes, white stone and large stain glass windows, not particularly opulent or extravagant but still impressively royal looking, think catholic cathedral but brighter and with less Jesus (can you tell I’m a recovering catholic yet?), spires shooting into the sky that’s visible even during a blizzard, cavernous halls full of sunlight and echoes, snow that can comfort and kill in equal measure
Notable Members:
Philza Minecraft:
Angel
Visible wings look like a harpy eagle
Probably the most powerful person in the world
Didn’t mean to start an empire it kinda just happened
Also didn’t mean to adopt kids but his Dadza alarm went off
Usually kind but will not hesitate to use violence when necessary
Technoblade:
Is pig.
With braid.
At least 8 feet all
Extremely adept fighter, skilled in almost every form of combat.
Not a people pig, prefers his potato farm to being a prince
Hella protective of his family but will not hesitate to bully when given the opportunity
Wilbur Soot:
Muse who can influence people through song
Can’t totally control people (yet) but can subtly push them in a certain direction
The public face of the imperial family
Would rather insult than fight but can and will cut a bitch if he needs to
Because inspiration is fickle he’ll have some … strange episodes (see: the Sand Incident)
Tommy Innit:
Child.
Chaos incarnate.
Is he human?  Is he not?  No one’s sure yet.
But he’s a gremlin and a hellion and willing to throw down at any moment.
Has a surprisingly caring side, but no one outside his immediate circle has ever really seen it.
The Kingdom of Valeriana (aka Dream SMP)
Oldest of the countries
Located in the middle of a massive forest at the center of the main continent
Home of the Fae Courts
Ruled by a single king who is chosen by a tournament held every 100 years
Known for causing chaos in other countries, but after an Incident with Crystallos they have kept their meddling to annoyances rather than outright declarations of war
Considered the most magical of all the countries, and traditional enchantments almost all come from Valeriana
Associated Colors: neon green (duh), bright yellow, forest green, light brown, blood red (more saturated than Crystallos), rose gold
Aesthetic/Vibes: spooky art nouveau (idk what else to call it), lots of plants and nature but with an edge of danger, poison gardens and carnivorous plants, hedge mazes that lead everywhere and nowhere, laughter deep in the forest, deer with eyes just a hair too human, Alice in Wonderland on steroids
Notable Members:
Dream:
Current king of the Fae
As long as he’s touching the ground, he knows where everything and everyone is
Can terraform
Unlimited in the boundaries of his kingdom
Much more limited outside of his realm
No one has ever seen what he really looks like, even before he took the throne
Since people outside the kingdom don’t know who he is, he’ll wander the outside world and challenge random people to fights
Never says what happens to the losers
Only one person has ever beaten him: Technoblade
He might have a lil obsession around Techno, but it’s fine.
A little competition is healthy.
Sapnap:
High Lord of the Summer Court
Dream’s right hand man
Likes fire a little too much probably
George:
Human that Dream took a liking too and yoinked from the mortal world
Dream and Sapnap made him immortal but he hasn’t realized it yet.
Skeppy:
Changeling who started growing diamond-like scales across his body
Is vaguely allied with Dream simply because he’s Fae, but is more loyal to BBH
Like a lot of other Fae, likes to make challenges but he makes them less deadly.  Not totally safe, just less deadly.
Badboyhalo:
Demon who was kicked out of hell because he was too nice
Found Skeppy in the Overworld and the rest is history
Cursed by the Demon King that the moment he says a swear word, the entire world would end, but can never tell anyone that he is cursed
The Merchant’s Guild
Not quite a country, more of a international power
Oversees the largest and most important businesses in the world
Makes sure that no laws are broken between different countries and everyone gets a fair shake
Has a very large reach, so some members have dabbled in espionage for various groups
From the outside it looks like the whole thing is kept together with duct tape and hope, but its actually pretty functional
The main members are just… a lot.
More concerned with keeping things working than influencing other nations (although there are still jokes about it)
The most valuable thing they trade in is information
They have a lot of fingers in a lot of pots, but are trusted with their information
Associated Colors: dark blue, teal, deep yellow, burnt orange, copper
Aesthetic/Vibes: art deco babie, angles and lines, very modern and streamlined, sleek suits instead of armor or robes, whiskey in a crystal glass, wars won by words not weapons, knowing when someone’s lying without them saying a word
Notable Members:
Schlatt:
Ram-man with a plan
Not that bad of a dude, but is in a position where he is constantly in possession of highly sensitive information and that does things to someone’s mental state
Drinks pretty regularly but not a full blown alcoholic
Trying his best
Can be a snarky asshole sometimes
Quackity:
Lucky duck.  literally.
Duck man with an uncanny ability to absorb good luck from people (typically Fundy) and apply it to himself
No one knows when or why he joined the guild, but now he’s there
Pretty damn smart, but hides it behind humor
Fundy:
FOX!
With BEANS!
Trying his goddamn best but life (and Quackity) make it very difficult
Usually is stuck with the shit end of the stick when getting jobs/contracts/etc.
Wilbur being his dad is an inside joke that’s gotten a life of its own.
(No Fishfuckers Allowed!!!)
Puffy:
Badass sheep lady who captains a ship and commands her own armada
Schlatt’s sister
Also part of Storm’s Landing’s council and acts as the main liaison between them
Do not fuck with her she will kick your ass.
Storm’s Landing
Port city that became a country after becoming a safe-haven for seafarers
Led by a council of important people, with the head of the council known as the Admiral
Closest ties to Crystallos and the Merchant’s guild because:
1) Clingy supremacy!!!!
2) it’s a good idea for a guild to have good ties with a large sea power
3) all the dads for Tubbo
Associated Colors: navy blue, scarlet, white, brass
Aesthetic/Vibes: Nautical (obviously) with heavy “Age of Exploration” vibes, barnacles crusted on treasure chests, think tall ships and pirates and shit, respecting the ocean because holy shit she’s gonna smash your boat to pieces on a whim because she can, has an edge of darkness because when you go deep enough who knows what you’ll find down there (maybe mermaids???)
Notable Members:
CaptainSparklez:
elected to Admiral after the previous Admiral went missing on a routine voyage
(idk who it used to be, I just wanted to make him new at leading)
not 100% sure about the whole thing, but handling it pretty okay
still answers to “Captain” instead of “Admiral”.
Niki:
If Storm’s Landing had a queen, would be it unquestionably
Never gets robbed even though there’s a well known “underbelly” in town
Could probably end wars with her croissants
Has a significant history of empathic abilities in her family, so she can tell how people are feeling at all times
Eret:
Owns a magic store in town that really only shows itself to people who need it.
Having a bad mental health day?
He’s got a warm blanket and a cup of your favorite warm beverage waiting.
Dysphoric?
She’s got the perfect outfit and affirming words already prepared.
Trying to find that specific book but can’t remember the title or plot, only vaguely know the color of the cover?
They’ve got it.
Ranboo:
Not sure why he decided to move to a seaside city when he’s not chill with water, but now he’s here and he’s too anxious to leave
Known for teleporting around town randomly when nervous, and the people who find him are always willing to let a hand if he gets lost
Tubbo:
This boi!  Has so many dads!
Epitome of “Kindness does not equal weakness.”
While a lot of people underestimate him, he’s not some fragile little flower
He hasn’t fully grown into his ability to speak to animals (he can only understand bees right now)
He’s just as much of a shit stirrer as Tommy.
When they meet up, look out.  Something’s getting destroyed.
The Astral Academy
An independent university focused on advancing knowledge in the arcane arts and engineering
Not a country, but has the political power of one due to their vast resources and building prowess
People can’t enter unless they are invited or have been given entry as a student
There are a bunch of potential doors scattered around the continent that could lead to the Academy, but no one is sure where the real entrance is
Associated Colors: royal purple, lilac, sepia, sky blue, silver, bronze Aesthetic/Vibes: bright academia, massive libraries with bookshelves stuffed to bursting, workshop benches covered in scrap and prototypes, open air observatories, runes waiting to be translated, the crackling energy that comes from successful collaboration, falling down a research rabbit hole, bursting with pride after a project is a success
Notable Members:
Sam
Purpled
Ponk
Punz
Antfrost
Jack Manifold
I don’t know much about these characters, so if you have any ideas please let me know!
Zero’s OC Land - The North Haven
Smallest and newest country
Recently gained independence from under a cruel dictator (not schlatt lol)
Located in a pine forest at the base of a huge mountain range
Has pretty good relations with the other countries, but outsiders don’t know much about them
Main exports are wood carvings and leather goods
Associated Colors: Maroon, dark brown, black, pewter
Aesthetic/Vibes: medieval but with a modern twist, dark wood lit by a roaring fireplace, snow-covered woods without a living soul in sight, half timber houses and detailed wood carving, no outrageous ornamentation or extravagance
Notable Members:
Tyr:
Lord of the North Haven
trying to keep his people safe and protected
one of the few remaining Spirits (higher in power than the Fae, but lower than angels)
Spirit of Justice
lost a hand in the war for North Haven’s independence
didn’t want to become the leader but does a pretty good job at it
Adopted 5 kids and is trying his best
Bragi:
Heir Apparent
24 year old human
can influence the world by speaking (not singing) but has to be careful about which words he uses
has a book full of phrases that have proven effects (a spellbook of sorts)
has a friendly rivalry with Wilbur
Freya:
Spymaster
actually the oldest but abdicated because she feels she’s not the right person to lead a country
age unknown because she’s the last known [REDACTED] (it’ll be revealed, but I wanna build suspense)
has gyrfalcon wings and heightened senses
chronic insomniac
Forseti:
Official Librarian
20 years old
hybrid with an unknown entity
has black fingers with sharp claws
always wears gloves to hide them
can create portals to places he’s been or to people he knows (the second is much riskier, but not impossible)

The “Sensible One”
17 years old
Has an uncanny sense of direction
Can’t get lost no matter what

17 years old
can manipulate fire
idolizes his older siblings, particularly Freya
The Institute
Creeping around in the background
Up to bad things
Something’s going on in the world, but no one’s noticed yet
They will though… soon
Aesthetic/Vibes: minimalism (the worst kind of vibes imo), think laboratories or empty hospitals, harsh artificial lights and cold floors, labyrinths of monotonous hallways with no doors

Prisoner, Ch. 1
Summary: Gigan and Megalon meet a young Ghidorah. Gigan is intent on converting the child into their pirate crew, whether he likes it or not.
-
What the hell happened here?
Glancing between the red planet ahead of them and the radar meant to detect life, both seemed desolate. But that can’t be right, he’s heard all about this world and the rare fauna it held, valued on the exotic pet black-market. Yet the sensors were picking up no life down below. Not even a plant.
Gigan rechecked the coordinates, just to ensure that they made it to the right world. Yep, it was and he wondered if there was some sort of malfunction.
He glanced back, seeing Megalon play-wrestling with Scoli. He said nothing to the beetle and centipede, as he directed the ship to orbit this world. Maybe they were in a bad spot? But as they moved, there continued to be no signs of life down below. Odd, very odd indeed. It was almost li-
Wait, there we go! The radar was finally picking up life signatures by the world’s single giant ocean. That’s a relief.
He lets out a soft breath, a smile growing on his beak as his hooked claw reached out and delicately pushed some of the buttons on the control panel. He glanced back again at his crewmates.
“Hey,” he started, getting their attention. “We’re going in for a landing.”
And that’s the only warning they were getting to brace themselves before he plunged the ship down into the atmosphere with speed. Flames erupt from the front of the ship and the floor began to tremble slightly before increasing in intensity. The emergency light flashed as warnings came to the control panel’s computer to slow the fuck down! But Gigan held firm, his beak cracking into a wide grin.
The screaming coming from behind him only encouraged his behavior as they cut through the last layer of cloud.
Cutting it a bit short, he leveled out the ship close enough to the ground to whip up a huge plume of dirt and debris. Their momentum held firm, the landscape zooming beneath them at breakneck speed.
Looming up from the horizon was a mountain, that they were heading straight for!
“GIGAN, STOP IT!!” he heard shouting and he was pretty sure it was Megalon. He lets out a laugh before activating the anti-gravity devices to lift the ship up higher to avoid a mountain range. There was the ocean just beyond, purple in color. Here we go. He finally brought the ship to a halt and began hovering it down towards the ground. Easy now, easy... Putting down the gears, the ship landed delicately onto the rocky shore.
Perfect, as always!
Turning towards his crew, he saw Scoli clinging to a wall and Megalon stuck on his back and he shook his head slightly. But he did nothing to help up his clumsy friend as he refocused on the control panel.
“Get ready to go. I’m going to activate the cameras; I want full 360 view of the place.” He glanced out a window. “Don’t want to miss out on an opportunity, after all.”
-
He’s almost done with this world.
Its lifeforms were quite large and plentiful, and so many of them had young. Perfect conditions for harvesting lifeforce and fueling his growth. He’s already gathered enough victims into his bio-sac dome to make the journey to the next world and was now occupying his time until his meal was ready for consumption. Nothing more fun than a round of exploration, and senseless murder!
He had just found the ocean, and he was playing with it. Its water seemed to have solidified into a thick purple substance, like gelatin, and it seemed to be alive in and of itself. It would rise up in thick tendrils and nudged against his legs in an attempt to engulf him; it reminded him of his bio-sac’s tentacles snatching up anything that came too close.
Luckily, it was very easy for him to pull free and it only encouraged his curiosity. He would bite into the jelly and his teeth would penetrate a transparent layer. There was the taste of salt-water in the fluid that poured into his maw.
Blegh.
He wasn’t a fan of eating it, and he lets the pieces splatter onto the ground from his mouth. But biting chunks out of it was still very fun indeed. What was more fun, though, was him spotting a creature further out to sea. It wasn’t a species he’s met before, and how could he resist flying out to meet it?
This prey was the largest creature he’s met in his short life so far, about half his size. It stood upright, without front appendages beyond a few small tentacles at the front of its body. Its disproportionately large feet were gouging chunks out of the gelatin ocean as it walked on its surface. It had a crest structure jutting out the back of its head and a large glowing... eye on either side of it, glowing a bright amber.
It seemed so blissfully unaware of his presence as he flew over it, as if it was confident its sheer size would protect it from harm. No doubt, it had no natural predators on this measly planet, but he was anything but natural.
He opened his jaws and shot flaming energy balls at it. The thick purple liquid rippled out as some of his fireballs struck the surface, explosions coming up around his prey. It lets out an echoing booming cry and the young Ghidorah does not let up. He shoots another trio of fireballs, one of them striking its tail and severing it to fall into the disturbed ocean. The tentacles thrashed around as its cries grow more high-pitched in distress.
Chuckling to himself, the young dragon swooped in from behind, his talons out to sink into the creature’s flesh. It began to struggle, but he was not to be dislodged as his three jaws surged forward to tear into its flesh. Rip it apart bit by bit.
After a moment spent torturing this creature, his wings began to flap. Luckily, this world had a thick atmosphere with light gravity, allowing him to take off with relative ease even with this added burden.
There was a bit of a suction effect trying to pull it off the ocean, as if the creature was gripping it, but with another tug, he ripped it free. Chunks of the purple gelatin fell from its feet and back onto the rest of the ocean.
He flew this creature back to the beach, and dropped it onto land without care. Its collision onto the beach was not a pleasant one from the sound of it and it seemed to struggle getting itself back up. He doesn’t allow it to recover as he landed beside it, his jaws clamping onto different parts of its mangled broken body before lifting it into the air.
Hearing the cries of fear and pain as he slammed his prey into the ground repeatedly was like music to his ears and always had him wanting to hear more. He hoped this was a plentiful species, as he was starting to run out of toys to play with.
It was a sure sign that soon, it’ll be time to move on.
Dropping his still-living prey onto the ground one last time, he planted a foot onto it to keep it pinned and leaned down to start stripping flesh from its body to devour. He didn’t require flesh to survive, he needed only to sap their life energy. But it was still fun to taste, to rip apart, even better if they were still alive while he did so.
His right head caught sight of something flashing through the sky over the mountains. His left head focused on it as well as he fed, his large eyes taking in every detail.
Not a meteor, but a ship. It was landing somewhere much further up the beach.
Oh, good! More toys to play with! It’s not often that prey just hand themselves on a silver platter like this.
Licking his bloodied lips, he shifted his foot to where its giant amber eyes were, assuming this must be the head. The creature wasn’t even struggling anymore, even as he placed all his weight onto that foot, crushing it beneath his weight. Feeling the bones break apart and the blood spreading over his sole, he pulled his foot away to admire his work for a moment before turning away. He started running towards the ship, his wings fanning open wider to catch the wind until he built up enough speed to kick off the ground and fly into the air.
Let’s have some fun.
-
“Ghidorah?”
Megalon tilted his head, looking back at the screen Gigan was watching, spotting a small kaiju flying in. The cyborg had the image zoomed in and enhanced, and he can see a three headed creature making a bee-line straight for them. The beetle has never met this infamous ‘Ghidorah’ before, so he wasn’t sure what he was expecting. This, however, wasn’t it.
“That’s Ghidorah?” he couldn’t help but ask. This was the creature that killed off Gigan’s Masters? The one the cyborg was lusting over? The one the beetle declared as his rival? THIS was the cosmic terror?!
Well, beating this thing to a pulp was going to be easier than he thought and he was about to hurry outside to do just that when Gigan speaks up.
“He’s not my Ghidorah,” he told him with audible confusion and disbelief. “This is a whole new one. I never heard of another Ghidorah being created.” The cyborg chuckled slightly as he watched the screen. This hydra was a lot smaller than the one he knew, a youngster most likely. Was his Ghidorah breeding somewhere out there and this was one of his offspring? Isn’t that very interesting...
“What do we do with it?” Scoli asked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Gigan chortled. “We invite him to join us. A Ghidorah, even a young one like this, will be more valuable than anything else we can poach from this planet.”
“If he’s so valuable, shouldn’t we sell him?” Megalon asked with an edge to his voice. He didn’t want to have this... thing with them, so he’s willing to say anything to get rid of this little dragon. Gigan’s Ghidorah or not, Megalon didn’t want the potential competition for the cyborg’s attention.
Gigan was more than aware of what the beetle was trying to do and he couldn’t hold back a smirk at Megalon’s jealousy. “No amount of money would be good enough.” He heard the ‘hmph’ from the insect and turned back to look at the little hydra. “Like it or not, Megalon, we’re keeping him.” He looked towards Scoli. “Clear out one of the containment units, one of the heavy duty ones, just in case. We’ll meet you outside.”
Scoli nodded softly before turning and scurrying away towards the lower decks. Gigan spent another moment to watch the little dragon come in for a landing nearby before opening the doors and moving towards the exit.
Megalon rushed to keep up. “But what if it’s not a Ghidorah and it’s just some random thing that LOOKS like a Ghidorah?” What did he have to say to discourage this cyborg’s interest in this youngster?
“You’re being silly now, babe,” Gigan said with humor before continuing. “I know what a Ghidorah looks like. There’s no mistaking them for anything else.”
“But... but... He’s so tiny! Are we really going to play baby-sitter until he’s all grown-up?”
“I play baby-sitter with you all the time, soooooo...” Gigan drawled before he looked over his shoulder at him, knowing exactly how to shut this beetle up. “You’re not trusting me, Megalon. Acting all jealous over a kid of all things.” He maintained hard eye-contact with the insect. “Keep yourself in check, or I’ll start reconsidering our friendship.”
Megalon froze for a moment. Did Gigan just call him- “I’m not jealous!” the beetle stated defensively, fumbling over his thoughts a bit as he tries to come up with a valid excuse for his behavior. “I just don’t think this is a good-”
Suddenly, the sound of an explosion came and the ship’s foundation shook. Gigan knew immediately what was happening; the damn kid was attacking their ship! Without another word towards Megalon, he rushed outside and turned in the direction the young Ghidorah should be. There he was, shooting... fire at the hull.
He never knew his own Ghidorah to spit fire. In the time they spent together in Nebulan captivity, he’s only ever seen him shoot lightning. Very interesting...
The little one very quickly caught sight of his movement and all three of those heads turned towards him.
Silence...
-
Well, this wasn’t what he was expecting.
He was expecting small lesser creatures to be in this ship; that’s always been the case in his experience. But what came out was no small creature, oh no. This one was damn near twice his size!
He’s never seen anything so huge in his short life; in fact, he’s never met a fellow kaiju before. He was still young enough that different races still held novelty to him, and his eyes took in every detail. The creature had green flesh and gold... scales? And three wings, and one eye. And 2 extra appendages that ended in silver hooks. A weapon, that’s what this thing is.
But he was not one to be easily intimidated; even as young as he is, a Ghidorah was still not a creature to mess with. Besides, can you imagine how much life-force he can syphon out of this thing? Sure, it’s not as potent as the souls of children, but the sheer amount would more than make up for it. It would be enough to fuel TWO trips to the next world!! This thing looks very pointy and sharp though, so best to be carefu-
“Hey, kid,” the creature spoke in an odd mixture of a natural and mechanical voice. Really, the fact it talks at all was most surprising. The young Ghidorah never had anyone actually talk to him in a way he understands. Supposed it was an inevitability, but what now?
Flee, or try to kill it for that bounty of lifeforce? Never before has he ever had to make that kind of decision. He usually just defaulted to the latter.
“Ghidorah, right?”
Wait, how did it know his name...?
...
Heh, seems his reputation has preceded him. But then, what did this thing want? It knew who he was and yet doesn’t run in fear? His suspicions were starting to overcome his pride. For the first time, he engaged in this conversation. “Who are you?”
“Name’s Gigan,” the creature said in a strangely casual tone that did nothing to ease the young dragon.
“How do you know who I am?”
“Heh, I know another Ghidorah,” he told him. “Great friends, him and I. Used to work together in another solar system. A pleasant surprise to see another one here. You’ve been having fun, I see.”
The young dragon narrowed a pair of eyes. Another Ghidorah? He had no idea there were other Ghidorah out there. The idea any of them would be friends with this thing was dubious though.
“Why did you come here?” He had no intentions on stopping his questioning, especially not while he was still on edge about this whole situation.
"Glad you asked. Y'see, I travel around, stripping worlds of their resources, and life," At once the young Ghidorah's eyes lit up a bit with interest, and this 'Gigan' seemed to notice as he chuckled. "Yeah, sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Exactly why I worked so well with the other Ghidorah, when our goals align perfectly, huh?" He took a step closer and the dragon's body tensed up, still apprehensive. Thankfully, Gigan comes no closer. "I came to this world looking for a good time. And here we are. Fate works in strange ways, bringing us together, huh?"
The youngster can already tell where this was going before this funny-looking creature said it.
“How can I not give you the opportunity to join me? Whaddya say, kid? Interested?”
The hydra doesn’t answer or move for a long moment. So many red flags were shooting up in his heads, and he was unsure if it was just his natural instinct to distrust other lifeforms. He just... didn’t like this thing. He didn’t like how it spoke to him or the words it was saying. It just... seemed manipulative.
He should get out of here. Whatever this thing has planned, it wasn’t good and he takes a step back.
His instincts seemed to prove correct as the creature’s beak twisted into a smirk at seeing him step back. His tone too seemed to change, still friendly but with an edge laced into it.
“You sure you want to do that? It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The little Ghidorah said nothing, glaring at this creature before shaking his heads. Yeah, it was time to leave. He should fly back to his bio-sac and devour what he can before vacating this planet. Now. The urgency in his instincts only got worse when he spotted movement by the door to find another giant kaiju, roughly the same size as the one in front of him. It wasn’t as sharp-looking, but it did have pointy front limbs. It had no wings that he can see and it had a strange... horn between giant golden eyes that looked to be made of a bunch of little eyes.
“Such a shame,” the pointy one continued, the red jewel on that forehead starting to glow. “I was hoping you’d be smarter than the last Ghidorah.”
The youngster couldn’t ignore the red-flags anymore and he attempted to make a run for it. But no sooner had he turned his heads than he felt a jolt as a red beam erupted from the creature, hitting the scales in his chest.
Thankfully, his underside had heavy plated armor that held up well, but it was still enough force to stumble him back. He screeched in anger before regaining his balance, facing the two giant kaiju.
Seemed he had no choice but to stand and fight, in what would be the most dangerous battle he’s ever faced in his young life.

Tumblr media
‘I will let your men go, if you but come with me.” the soldier’s voice stopped your next move. You still wielded your lightsaber at shoulder height protecting you and the squad behind you.
“Why do you need me?” you tried to sound as confident and firm as you could.
“The captain might want to share a few words with you.” this strange soldier still had the steady face he had placed since the beginning.
You let out a sigh, and backed down a little. “You give me your word? That you will let them go?
“I promise. We only want you.”
You turned to see the batch for a second, Hunter was the only one with his helmet off and he was looking at you with such a concern in his eyes you have rarely seen before.
“Fine” you extinguished the lightsaber. “I’ll go.”
“No, wait” Hunter finally stepped in and placed himself in front of you. “If you go, I’ll go to.” thankfully he understood that refusing the deal wasn’t an option since they would let the Republic troops go willingly. And take the refugees out of the planet.
Once again, the soldier let out a defeated sigh and agreed. “Only you?” he asked tiredly.
Hunter thought about out for a brief second and then call to Wrecker to come along.
“Great. Now can we go?” the soldier’s tone was starting to sound rude.
Before anything else happened, you run to Tech and handed over your lightsaber. “Take care of this, please. I don’t want their hands on it.”
“I'll keep it safe” he said while taking it.
You glanced at Crosshair and notice the killing gaze in his eyes, you nodded trying to communicate him that everything would be fine. He nodded back even though you knew he didn’t believe you.
“Let's go.” you shouted to the soldier and the three of you start walking behind his company. Hunter took a quick look at you but you were so immersed into your thoughts that you didn’t even notice.
You were questioning yourself what would happen next. And if you should have stopped the guys from coming; after all, your people were known for their hatred towards the clones. And now you did not involve one, but two of them with the royal army.
Your hands were shaking by just thinking about it.
Funny thing it was that for the very first time you were completely surrounded by your own kin, still you could not feel less comfortable. You were scared and worried about your troops. At least you had achieved your goal's mission and all the refugees were getting out of here safe.
Hopefully.
Everything depended on whether your kin’s promise to the enemy was worth something.
“Hey” Hunter’s voice attracted your attention as a lifeguard in the middle of an ocean, where you couldn’t swim. “Look” he said gently while pointing at the ships taking off and slowly disappearing into the atmosphere.
You felt like you finally were able to breath, the mission was complete now. All that was left, was to survive to your probably-upcoming interrogatory. You didn’t miss the fact that only four of the ships that have come with you took off. One had been lost while merely arriving and the other missing one was the Havoc Marauder. Your way out.
Oh, the way you were going to hug Tech if you managed to get out of here in one piece.
A little smirk appeared in your face at the thought. Hunter noticed it and relaxed a little. Yet his right hand still danced around the knife case in the opposite hand.
As you walked into the town where you were supposed to meet the captain the smirk faded quickly, in other circumstances you would have admired every single detail, the buildings, the decorations the people. Your culture.
But right now, your mind was busy still thinking about keeping alive the two men that were with you.
You knew they were perfectly capable to defend themselves. But you knew too, that they would do absolutely anything to keep you alive. And that was the thought that kept you away from enjoying the ride.
After a few minutes of walking through the crowded streets the soldier –whose name you still didn’t know- stopped in front of a tall and grey building, it must have had at least six floors, and for that planet, that was too much.
He dismissed his men and invited, Hunter, Wrecker and you inside.
Once in, you went up the stairs for what seemed like three floors that led you to a big and fancy door which the soldier opened and got in after asking you to wait a bit.
You took advantage of the time that the soldier gave you to make some things clear for the team.
“Okay listen to me.” Hunter’s and Wrecker’s eyes where now on you waiting for your upcoming words. “It doesn’t matter what happen, if the things get bad for you, I want you out of here before someone has a chance of shooting.”
“Do you realize what you are asking us?” the Sarge’s voice was coming out moderate, as if suppressing the urge to scream.
“Yeah, that’s not how we make the things... General.” Wrecker grunted, quickly remembering who he was addressing.
“If anything goes wrong, there are less chances that they would kill me. At the end of the day, I’m one of them. You on the other hand...” there was no need for you to finish your argument, the three of you knew exactly what you were talking about. Besides before you could, the soldier stepped out of the door asking you to come in.
“General, we can’t...” Hunter’s hand grabbed yours in a last attempt to make you change your mind. An unsuccessful attempt.
“Sargeant,” your voice cracked as you let out your last words to him before getting in the room. “Don’t make me make my request an order.”
He finally let go and you walked away from them while listening to the Wrecker’s complains.
You were not going to lie to yourself, you hated to take that kind of position with the batchers, especially with Hunter, but you were not letting them risk their life in a reckless way. You couldn’t. Why? Where you being selfish? The jedi needed you, your service. And you kept putting your men’s life first. And you were not going to change that. And less if it was about Hunter.
“Ah a jedi General.” a man with the same long purple robe as the soldier you already knew, received you with an energetic grin. “You have no idea how much I was looking forward to meet you.” the captain you deduced. You’ve heard from him before. A lot, actually. One of the most feared kings' men in the entire planet. There we’re rumors that he had played a big role in the decision to join the separatists.
“I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I can’t say the same about you.” you tried not to sound aggressive, but your last words to Hunter didn’t get you in the right mood.
“Of course, not you exactly, one of you.” His voice was raspy and deep but you didn't let him intimidate you. His way of talking, on the other hand, was very curious, he had a noticeable accent. And you wondered for a second: if you had never been taken to temple, would you speak in the same way? “Please take a seat, I have some questions you may want to help me to answer.”
You did as he told you and take a seat in front of him, at the other side of the long table. And so, he did.
You didn’t take any time to examine the room you had entered. First mistake.
It only had one window that faced the left side of the table, and in consequence your left side. Behind you a little bookshelf adorned the wall and  besides it another young, shaky, soldier stood guard. The look on his face was stupid and scared, so you didn't pay him much attention.
On the right side a big display case, which stored different types of bottles, occupied all the space from the wall to the door.
One way in and one way out. You resumed.
“As far as I know, you honor your word and let my men leave your planet. So, I will be happy to answer the questions I can.” you state trying to set the terrain for a friendly exchange.
“Good.” the captain still conserved that grin. “Perhaps I should start with...” He stroked his chin thoughtfully, but to your eyes he didn't seem genuine. The question had been on his mind since you entered the room. “The fact that you, one of our kin, are helping this republican scum, to conquer us, again.” It wasn’t the statement what scared you, but the calmed and serene tone that remained at his voice.
“Excuse me?” you shoot back quickly. “That is completely out-”
“Let’s promise to tell the truth, okay?” this man didn’t seem completely sane to you, so you proceed carefully.
“Listen, sir. I am a jedi. My alliegance doesn’t bow to this planet nor it’s government. If that’s what you are implying.”
“Oh, but the problem here it’s that I don’t believe your little jedi portrayal, you don’t trick me.” The captain had left his seat and now was coming closer to you.
“And I look more like a civilian to you.” you mocked him because if you both were honest you didn’t. And you put all your faith in that argument. You cursed down your breath for not bringing your lightsaber. What on earth were you thinking!? With it you could've been able to change his mind about you being a jedi, one way or another
“Of course not.” he granted “You look more like a spy to me.” and there you had enough. The fact that this captain had only summoned you so he could start pointing and blaming at you for nonsense –and very quickly, truth to be told- was freaking you out.
“Look, Captain” you tried to pull out your most charming smile. “As much as I would like to continue playing the trivia game with you, I have responsibilities to attend. So as you have no excuse for keeping me here, I would like to-”
“Please don’t get up” his grin finally disappeared “You promised to cooperate.”
“That was before you started taking me as a traitor.”
“And you aren’t a traitor?”
“No more than you are for handing over your homeworld to the wrong side.” you didn’t notice but you were screaming.
The captain sighed and then giggled. As he leaned against the table. “You are really making me regret to have let your men go” He stood right and started to roll up his sleeves.
You didn't know if it was the fear or the sudden reminder that Hunter and Wrecker were still outside but it was like if you were glued to the chair.
“Corporal Keeps” he called out for the soldier behind you without taking his gaze out of you. “I'm going to need your collaboration for a moment here.”
The order, of course got you scared instantly, so you stood up from your seat and as soon as you turned to get out of the room, a big fist collide with your stomach, taking all of the air out of you. You could not make any sound for all trace of your breath had disappeared. You sat on the floor, bent in two, trying to recover the air. You were completely shocked, not because of the pain that was becoming more and more present, but because the blow had taken you completely off guard.
The captain came over and grab you by the hair, lifting your head so your gaze met his. “So? Ready to confess that you're a spy?”
If you would've had a little more air inside you, you would have probably spit on his face. But you were still under the effects of the punch so you simply put the head back down.
“Okay then.” he stood on his feet and called for the Keeps soldier. “Corporal. Have you ever kicked a woman?” If the soldier was shaky when you entered the room, he now looked like if a damn earthquake had taken over him. He stared at the captain with his jaw shaking more than any other body part.
“Captain I-I” the corporal managed to say.
“Do it, please.” the captain commanded.
With a grimace on his face and eyes closed he barely moved his feet against you, yet it didn’t hurt you let out a small moan, you hadn't been able to get enough air back yet.
“Come on, you can do it better.” the captain stood there, merely staring at your agony.
This time this corporal kicked you like a real soldier. And it hurt like hell. You were barely gaining enough strength to move, but with that strike you were out of your senses again.
“Again.” the captain ordered.
You closed your eyes getting ready for the corporal to fulfil the order, which you were sure would leave you unconscious.
But before he could go any further the door was slammed open and Hunter and Wrecker entered with the guns drawn.
Wrecker quickly got closer to the corporal and without saying a word made him stand back and run to hide behind the captain.
“I don’t recall requesting your presence, clones.” the captain said calmly.
“Up you come, General. You're done here.” Hunter said as he put your arm around your neck helping you up.
Meanwhile four more soldiers enter the room trough the already-opened door.
“Hold! We didn’t come here to fight. You tell your men here to step aside before I lose my temper.” dropped the Sarge addressing to the captain. Meanwhile Wrecker put his helmet back on ready to strike.
“You have no right to that woman, not while she’s being questioned by one of her kin.” answered the captain as if he was holding back a big laughter.
“She is a General of the Grand Army of the Republic.”
“She’s a native subject first.” the captain barked. And if you weren’t so dizzy and hanging over Hunter you would have punched him so hard, he would not talk like that ever in his life again.
“She was brought here under the protection of a war bargain.” Hunter started moving with Wrecker behind him.
“And I’m afraid that she didn’t honored her part of the bargain. She didn’t answer my questions.” this man was completely crazy.
“And she won’t, unless you want to be in the middle of a siege to this territory in less than an hour.” Hunter’s words shut the captain up and with a move of his hand, the soldier stepped aside and let the three of you get out of the room.
Once out, Hunter put a hand under your legs and the other one under your back carrying your whole-body up, you rolled your arms around his neck still feeling your stomach aching.
“I believed I asked you to do something.” you hissed.
“I’m sorry, General. But you should have given the order.” Hunter answered endearingly. “But I guess it wouldn’t have helped a lot. There is no way we’re leaving you behind."

yandere! jotaro kujo 3. major spoilers for stardust crusaders (part 3). word count: 2,600+. tw: bullying, implied depression, drowning, death, gore, and grief.
art credit: ロク.
Tumblr media
He carries himself with poise, an assurity few could ever possess. He is the personification of perfect — alas, a man who appears perfect, like a statue which leaves many in awe, a statue whose marble insides have begun to slowly erode, a statue who’s already begun falling apart. There exists not a soul who can fix him, no sculptor skilled enough, no human kind enough to fix his flaws before anyone else can catch on; Jotaro Kujo is his own sculptor, and he’s forgotten how to mend his broken pieces.
For as long as he’s known, he’s been a soldier. A boy soldier, who bears the weight of the world atop shoulders of steel, shoulders which shake and tremble when no one is looking. He is a soldier without a commander, a soldier without a purpose, and he was content with that. But he is a soldier who’s fought a battle meant for ten thousand men, a battle which has long ended, a battle which still plagues him; he is a soldier who’s fought god and he is only seventeen.
When did it begin, he wonders? When did his marble bones and stone veins start to crack? Was it that day? Becaues he remembers being bullied. He remembers taking each insult, like poison-laced daggers, and thinking nothing of it. He remembers the wrinkles, the eye bags, the grey hairs which had started to pepper his mother’s face at around the same time. He remembers the questions, the sobbing, her desperate pleas, her hesitant knocks on his bedroom door. He remembers her somehow finding out, remembers her standing up for him, one day, in the school yards. And he remembers his bullies trying to hurt her, too.
He remembers nearly killing them.
It was like the flip of a switch, how quickly he changed. Mom became mother, bitch, nuisance. She can’t understand how he felt in those moments — she couldn’t — because until the day he dies, he won’t let her. Keep her at arm’s length, don’t let her in. No one can know, no one can get close — they’ll just get hurt, too. That’s the funny thing about love: it hurts. To feel loved is wonderful, to be loved is tragic, damning, dangerous. He is a catalyst for disaster, destruction, danger, and everything in between.
Death loves him, and love has never felt so lonely.
Tumblr media
He lost a friend that day. Metal had bent around his body like silken sheets, water had sod his clothing without care; if his body hadn’t already run cold, the water would’ve made him sick. He would’ve smiled and laughed it off with his dear friend, would’ve said his injuries are no big deal. He can still see, can still move, can still dream.
If he’d lived.
He lost a friend that day, the only one he’d ever had.
And then there is you.
You are no different from the rest. Just another body to protect, another set of eyes he must keep from prying. Death loves him, and he’d been foolish enough to fall in love; funny how easily it happened, really. Because when you look at him, he feels as if he’s baring his all. All his insecurities and worries, all the times he’s wanted to break down and cry. It’s a feeling he hates, detests, but it’s something new, something unexpected, something needed. You are not those women who look at him with indignant curiosity. You are not his mother who looks at him with worry. You are not his grandfather nor his dead best friend; you are you, and somehow, you are everything he’s needed.
Love is a funny thing, he recalls, and that thought is enough to clear the darkness around him. It’s calming, at first. The nightmare is over and he must be waking up. Your soothing voice will greet him, as it always does; you’ll hug him, cradle him like a child, and he won’t push you away. But you don’t. You shine, so terribly bright that he has to look away for a moment. There’s warmth, comfort, safety in your direction, but he doesn’t walk forward. He doesn’t deserve it.
Not him. Not the man who let his friends die.
Jotaro, a dark, playful voice begins, echoing from the depths of nowhere. It’s familiar; far too knowing, far too cunning, far too demonic. Jotaro feels his mind start to unravel like loose threads, and the voice feeds off this, like a parasite.  If you love your friends and family so much, why do you never tell them?
“What do you want?” Jotaro barks at nothing and turns toward the dark, turns away from you. Secretly, Jotaro has always been scared of the dark, but right now it was oddly welcoming. The dull beat of that voice, distorted and tinny, still seemed clear, pristine, ethereal. As if the voice had hands which he could not see, they wrapped around his neck like a noose and pulled. Gravity itself seemed to pull at his neck, pushing him further and further into the unforgiving abyss of the darkness as if swallowing him whole.
Why is he here?
Just as his back hits the waters, the sudden impact knocks the oxygen out of his lungs within a second, before he’s plunged right beneath the surface. His eyes are open, even as salt-water pierced and burned; he was certain before, but this is too real to be a dream. It it weren’t for the fact that he could’ve perished any moment now, the sight before him would’ve actually been beautiful. Nothing but a color palette of deep sea blue clouded his peripheral vision with colors that were excruciatingly breath-taking in real life.
But he isn’t deceived.
I want to wrap my brain around that head of yours, Jotaro. So, enlighten me... The disembodied voice mocks, feeling like blood rushing against his the insides of his head. It’s closer this time, over his shoulder, next to his ear, and there’s a familiarity to its tone — a familiarity he doesn’t want to acknowledge just yet. Surely telling them you care is easier than breaking your body over and over again.
Jotaro chews on the question with a hint of unmistakable disgust before spiting it out. He hears the voice laugh that mocking song once again, and the light shining from above almost feels like they’re mocking his every movement, too. They watch his arm shoot upwards, silently and slowly for their help — and they laughed. The gears in his brain start turning, willing his limbs to work as legs weakly kicked up in desperate search for air. Realization soon beats itself into his slowly-drowning lungs, and he’s left to face questions that no one but he knows the answers to.
How did he get here? Is he awake? Is he alive?
Answer me, little mortal. We haven’t got all night. The voice goads, and it feels like sharp needles have stuffed themselves into the canals of his ears. Jotaro hisses, and the voice seems content with the response, at the least. Or, perhaps you’d prefer to drown? What a peculiar way for a marine biologist to go, but humans never cease to amaze me.
Jotaro struggles to answer the voice which claims to be inhuman, but dark waters only drain into his mouth like rapids. Time wasn’t even on his mind at this point, but he couldn’t help but wonder how long he’s been underwater. The ocean seemed to pin his legs and arms into icicles, keeping them from thrashing everywhere. Soon, his attempts on fighting for oxygen were getting much more pathetic — much weaker with each kick.
‘Is this how I die?’ He thinks, chuckling at the irony. The feeling of agreeing with the voice is bitter, but its words are not wrong. To think he’d die in the embrace of something he’s spent his life researching. And even so, he wastes no time in reaching a conclusion: ‘Still not a bad way to go.’
Not that he'd been holding onto hope in the first place, but witnessing the light stray further from his grasp was anything but welcoming. It’s clear that his mind and body were slowly starting to lose motivation in fighting against fate. His fate.
And right now, he’s drawing nearer to the finish line.
His limbs had eventually stopped responding and allowed gravity to drag his body into the never ending abyss he’d always marveled at when he’d been alive. And despite condemning himself to his fate, the hopelessness seethed in gradually. Human nature, he concluded; to want what you cannot have is human nature. He knows that better than most.
Once his air supply ran tight, his mouth instinctively opened up once again, allowing water to flow in through his nostrils and throat. Every 'breath’ made him choke on the saltiness of the ocean waters, lungs struggling to hang on as the water slowly crushed its cage from inside and out. Barely even able to hear his own thoughts, he assumed his eardrums burst from the insane depths he was being pulled into. His eyelids grew heavy like boulders and finally drooped; he had already succumbed to the thought of death — he couldn’t even cry in anguish or relief, but perhaps the downpour above the waters was crying for him instead. The thought was comforting, to know that someone, some thing would mourn his death.
His back hits the ocean floor like a sunken ship, and he believes he’s dead until the voice speaks again: Have you had enough time to think, little mortal? Its words are scathing, and by far the last thing he wants to hear on his death bed, but with it, came air. It seemed an impossible feat at the bottom of an ocean no human has visited before, but the air is crisp and fresh. Jotaro drinks it up, gulping it down in excess, reveling at how it fills his lungs with life. The water he’d inhaled and drunk doesn’t even seem to exist, at the moment, but he hasn’t the state of mind to dwell on that.
“Where am I?” He chokes out, still tasting the bitter tang of salt against the back of his throat. The voice seems to echo around him, and he finally realizes that he is still on the ocean floor. Sea creatures he’s never seen flit around him, and despite the stark absence of any light, he can see them clear as day.
Only you know that. The voices hums, creating a vibrato in the seawaters, a sound that seems to manifest into arms and once again coil around Jotaro’s neck, like a noose. He wants to scream and thrash and fight, but the comforting presence of Star Platinum within his core is... vacant.
I shall repeat myself. If you love your friends and family so much, why do you never tell them? The question seems out of place at the bottom of an ocean filled with light and air, but the entity leaves no room for Jotaro to dwell. The heavy stench of iron is immediately recognizable, and Jotaro realizes there’s a gash in his chest. Pale fingers, topped with blackened fingernails which have grown awfully too long, held his intestines away from his torso, the flesh coiled tightly around the hands of a man he once knew.
A man who should be dead.
And yet, here he is. And yet, there is no pain.
“Because...” The words slip past his lips before he knows how to finish. Because what? Because he’s an asshole who can’t put his feelings into words? Because he’s a fool who deserves to suffer alone? Because...
“Because I’m afraid.”
The voice cackles, creating distortions in the sand bed and deep sea water, and yet he could recognize it as clear as day. DIO.
Oh? Is that so? DIO runs a tongue over his lips, deciding to humor his little plaything. Then, hypothetically, if you do tell them you love them, what are you so afraid will happen?
Jotaro doesn’t respond.
I’m waiting.
“...I don’t know.”
Liar. DIO bites and lightly pressing a claw-like fingernail into Jotaro’s jugular. It’s not polite to lie.
“I...” The pool of blood at his feet is disorienting, vivid and real despite the darkness around him. “It’s not that I don’t want to trust them, I...” He reaches out to cup the hand still jutting from his stomach. How odd it is to see such a horrific sight and feel no pain; and it all clicks into place. Jotaro chokes up for a brief moment, hoping a reply will make this all end. “...It’s dangerous to show you care. If they knew, and if my enemies knew how important they are to me, then...”
This isn’t real. None of this is real. How many times has he had this nightmare? And how many times has he imagined just that — the corpses of his loved ones plastered along the streets? The screams that won’t stop? The look of fear and hope on their faces?
That hasn’t happened, yet, and yet he faults himself: how can he be so weak?
There we go. DIO clicks his tongue and gently strokes his great grand-nephew’s hairs — something he no doubt imagines to be an affectionate pat. Not so hard, is it? Jotaro nods, too weak to stand up for himself. This nightmare never ends. You’re afraid of being too vulnerable. DIO coos and twists his blood-covered arm, deepending Jotaro’s unreal wound. You’re afraid of being too... weak.
The ghost’s words always sting, but this nightmare has become so commonplace, so normal — as easy as breathing, despite the waters around him — that Jotaro hasn’t the strength to feel anger. It’s not like DIO is wrong. He is afraid, he is weak, and above all, he’s afaraid of being weak.
But, how curious it is, little mortal. Hasn’t anyone ever told you— the voice begins to chastise, but is cut off; its words don’t reach his ears. Rather, there’s a soothing scent, with familiar aromas he can’t quite place. But the serenity is short lived. The air Jotaro seemed to be breathing dissipates, and he’s drowning again. His throat burns as if a thousand of needles were piercing it all at the same time, chest clenching itself suffocatingly tight; it’s hell all over again. He couldn’t help but feel pathetic for not acting sooner, especially when the exit was right in front of him, even if it wasn’t anywhere near his reach. Now that chance was thrown carelessly out the window, with no means on returning back to his grasp—
And his sinks.
As he struggled to keep himself afloat and conscious, black spots started to paint his vision one by one, and that’s when time was obviously running out. His eyelids give up —
And then he wakes up.
There’s a gentle, shaking motion, like a boat — as if he’s being cradled and soothed like he had been as a child. He can’t place it immediately, but you’re whispering soft little assurances into his ear, brushing strands of ebony hair which had plastered itself to wet skin. He realizes that the sweet scent from before is you. He can’t discern your words, not fully, not over the sound of blood rushing to his ears. If your arms weren’t wrapped around him a like a safety net, he’d still think he’s drowning, dying; but, the glimpses of words he’d catch every so often were enough to comfort him. You assure him that he’s still very much alive, that he’s awake, that nothing can hurt him, that it was all a nightmare.
It was just a nightmare.
Hasn’t anyone ever told you? The undead voice chimes, but your voice, clear as day, replaces its mocking tone, and Jotaro melts. He gazes upwards, into your eyes which hold the moon and all its stars and he suddenly remembers that wishes are made upon them.
“It’s okay to be weak, Jotaro.”

Frozen 2 Pitchmeeting copypasta by Anonymous
>"So anyway Elsa, Anna, and Olaf are walking along to find the mysterious voice when they suddenly come across a shipwreck that turns out to be the same one from Iduna and Agnarr's final voyage!" >"Oh, wow." >"Yeah, it turns out they didn't go to the South Sea like Elsa and Anna thought, they really went to the Dark Sea, which is right next to the forest." >"So this scene takes place on a beach?" >"Oh, no, they're still in the middle of the woods." >"What?" >"Yeah, the beach doesn't come into it until later." >"How did their parents' ship sink in the middle of the forest?" >"Unclear." >"Did the area used to be part of the ocean but the water has since receded?" >"Oh no, there are decades-old trees everywhere and the ocean can't even be seen on the horizon." >"Did the Spirits throw the ship clear from the ocean into the middle of the forest?" >"I mean they probably could do that but I don't see why they would instead of just letting the ship sink to the ocean floor like we saw in the first movie." >"I just feel like this raises so many questions that could've been easily avoided if the scene just took place on a beach." >"Yeah, probably. So anyway the three of them run into the ship and look around to see if they can find an explanation as to why it's here in the forest instead of the South Sea like they said they were and find a map that mentions Ahtohallan." >"Gesundheit." >"No, sir, Ahtohallan is the name of the magic glacier that Iduna used to tell Anna and Elsa about when they were kids, and she thought it might have had something to do with Elsa's powers, if it even existed at all." >"That's an interesting theory. I just hope Elsa doesn't put all her eggs in one basket and immediately decide Ahtohallan is the key to everything because there's no concrete connection to her powers, and even her mother wasn't entirely--" >"And so Elsa immediately decides Ahtohallan is the key to everything!" >"Of course." >"But then she remembers Olaf's 'water has memory' thing from earlier in the movie and so she decides to use her water memory restoration powers to witness their parents' dying moments." >"Wait, what? Elsa has water memory restoration powers? I thought she just controlled ice and snow." >"Well, sir, as you know, ice and snow are just forms of water." >"Yes, but doesn't this movie's mythology treat water and ice as two completely separate elements? And if she can control water why hasn't she ever done it before? And even if she can use water to recreate past memories how would she even know how to do that? Wouldn't she need to train under some sort of magic ice Enchanted Forest Yoda or something?" >"Sir, I need a reason for Elsa to get really sad really fast, so I'd like you to get all the way off my back about Elsa's new water powers that will never be mentioned again." >"Fair enough." >"So anyway Elsa is able to recreate her parents' dying moments in which they embrace each other in the face of a really violent, terrifying death and call out Elsa's name." >"Not Anna's name, who is also their daughter and is watching this whole thing next to Elsa?" >"Nope, not at all, sir." >"Iduna and Agnarr couldn't put in the time or effort to think about both of their daughters as they were dying?" >"Nope! They even say Elsa's name multiple times, so it's not like they didn't have the chance." >"Wow, I guess the girls know who the favorite was." >"It is pretty rude, I will agree." >"Very rude dying parents!" >"So anyway, the sight of their parents dying horrifically makes Elsa really upset." >"I don't know what else she was expecting." >"She runs out of the ship, so Anna tries to comfort her by telling her she'll never abandon Elsa and she believes in her and her magic is awesome and that Elsa was a gift from Heaven above to bless their parents with basically just the most perfect child possible and that she'll always support Elsa in anything she does and that she loves Elsa with all her heart and together they're going to solve this mystery and save their kingdom. And Elsa thanks her." >"Aww, how sweet and heartfelt!" >"By throwing her down a hill." >"What." >"Yeah, Elsa's worried that the rest of the journey may be too perilous for Anna and Olaf so she summons an ice canoe around them and then sends the thing just... careening down a hillside at roughly fifty miles an hour." >"Oh my God." >"Yeah, it's pretty much an ice rocket, just shooting past trees and rocks left and right." >"Elsa wanted to keep Anna safe by trapping her in a murder rocket made out of material famous for people slipping on it and shooting it into a forest full of rocks and trees and cliffs and supernatural monsters that Elsa is in no way familiar with?" >"She had to. There was still one Spirit left to deal with and the Dark Sea can be very dangerous." >"Hasn't Elsa kicked the ass of every Spirit she's come across so far? And isn't she capable of freezing large bodies of water as we saw in the first movie?" >"She has and is, yes." >"And isn't she capable of creating life, so she could just make like a huge eagle or dragon or something big enough to fly herself, Anna, and Olaf harmlessly across the Dark Sea?" >"She most definitely could." >"So why does she need to kick Anna down a hill in order to continue the mission?" >"Because I want her to fight a horsey." >"Excuse me?" >"I want Elsa to fight a horsey and I don't want Anna just standing there watching and making it weird." >"I mean you don't have to have her just standing there watching, you could involve her. Make it a really cool fight scene where the sisters work together and show teamwork and it could be a really cool, inspiring, empowering moment where they unite against a powerful enemy and overcome it and--" >"Don't be silly, sir. Two women can't fight a horsey. That's just crazy talk!" >"I just feel like Elsa kicking Anna down a hill because a fantasy quest adventure is dangerous is sort of really harshly unnecessary and also sort of undermines the whole 'stronger together' thing we've been selling for the last six years." >"CRAZY TALK, I SAY!" >"I mean I guess so." >"Crazy movie producer." >"So tell me about this horsey fight, how does it go?" >"Well at first Elsa tries to run across the Dark Sea but she keeps getting hit by waves and sent deep into the water." >"The ice sorceress capable of freezing large bodies of water tries physically running across a stormy sea?" >"She does, sir, yes. And then one time when she's underwater she gets attacked by the Water Spirit, which is a kelpie named Nokk." >"The Water Spirit is seaweed?" >"No, sir, a kelpie is a beast from Celtic mythology. It's basically a horse made of water and it controls the sea." >"Oh, wow." >"And it killed Iduna and Agnarr." >"Whoa, what?" >"I mean it's pretty obvious since this is where they died and it's guarded by a supernatural sea monster that intentionally makes the ocean all stormy and dangerous, which is what killed them." >"That sounds pretty intense. So is Elsa gonna get some some sweet karmic justice on Nokk for killing her parents?" >"Oh, no. Well, not intentionally, at least." >"What do you mean?" >"Well like I said, it's pretty obvious if you think about it, but we're not gonna make a thing out of it. In fact we're not even gonna acknowledge it at all." >"Elsa's going to engage in mortal combat with her parents' murderer and she's not even going to realize it?" >"That's right sir, yes." >"Seems like a weird way to take that potentially massive plot point." >"To be honest, sir, I wanted to make more of a deal out of it but I honestly couldn't think of a way to... write it good." >"I guess it is better to write nothing than to write something disappointing and stupid." >"Exactly!" >"So how about the fight itself? How does Elsa versus Nokk go down?" >"Well Nokk can dissolve and become the water all around Elsa and if she freezes him he can just immediately unfreeze himself and he's just really strong. Basically imagine how dangerous a normal wild horse is, but then also factor in drowning, a shark attack, and a homing torpedo." >"Oh my God, Nokk sounds borderline invincible. Is it gonna be hard for Elsa to beat him?" >"Actually, it's going to be super easy. Barely an inconvenience!" >"How so?" >"Well at one point during the fight Elsa just... rides him." >"Just... rides him?" >"Yep. After getting the everloving snow beaten out of her for ten minutes Elsa gets the idea to hop onto Nokk's back and ride him around shouting 'yee-hah!'" >"The ancient supernatural being who controls the seas themselves is defeated because the woman who must weigh barely over 100 pounds asks for a pony ride?" >"That's right sir, yes." >"I guess that makes sense."

Homesick (Entry #26)
(cw: drugs/addiction, themes of depression, very brief reference to sex) ----------
01/13/88   12:40 AM
Hey.
The trip got more solid after that. Sort of. Also sort of the opposite.
After that last flash, I found myself still sitting at the table, still across from Fix-it, still not quite eating the destroyed pie in front of me. My hand was completely intact.
My finger slipped in a slow, idle circle of cold red syrup. I had my knees pulled up to my chest and my heels on my seat. I’d draped the blanket over my head like a hood and cocooned the rest of it around myself, only exposing my arm to touch the plate. I was too hot, less from the blanket and more from what felt like a fever.
Fix-it’s voice was just finishing a sentence. “--can hear me, just nod your head. If you can hear me.”
I gave one small nod, more entranced with the feeling on the tip of my finger than anything else.
He asked tentatively, “What’s your name?”
My voice was muffled against my knees. “Mavis.”
“Do you know who I am?”
“Fix-it Felix Jr.”
He sighed in relief. “Mavy… I need you to listen to me. This might be hard to understand right now, but… a lot of things you’ve seen or experienced tonight… that you’re experiencing right now… are not real. You’re safe, okay? You’re very safe. But you’re not in your right mind. You’re on buffs,” he swallowed. “You’re on… on Game-- Game Changers.”
I blinked without looking up. “No, I’m not.”
“Mav--” he paused to contain himself. “Mavy, honey, listen. Let me tell you what really happened tonight, okay?”
Pain in my head flared, scratching blue lines in my vision. I tried to listen, but buff-fueled stimuli did its best to drown him out.
As the stripes on the wallpaper lifted and arched like a hissing cat, he said, “You broke through ---------- second floor. You ---------- bed frame and ---------- like you were being attacked. You even ----------- when I ---------- understand what I was saying…” his voice and eyes lowered. “You… didn’t even know who I was…”
The windows shattered into jagged teeth in yawning mouths that stretched so wide, the curtain rods crumbled off. Tiny, pink, hairless bats flowed from the holes in the walls and flew in circles above our heads. Niceland itself seemed to break from the earth and float on rolling waves like a pirate ship, and he continued, “You went on about ‘a dog in the hive’ and ---------- saw Gene and chased ---------- had him backed into a corner ---------- in time to stop you from -----------”
“Wait,” I said, watching the table leg divide itself into pieces, “Gene? No, it was a dog!”
“It was definitely Gene, Mavy. You scared the daylights out of him.”
“I almost bludgeoned Gene to death with a bat?”
I could hear resigned disapproval in his voice. “Leg of a bedframe, actually, but, yes.”
Pretty sure I laughed an unwholesome, violent, and spiteful laugh, but it played from my throat like a rolling xylophone. Fix-it was less amused.
“Mavis.”
Suddenly, I felt a bit pissed. “Why did you stop me? He would have respawned! That little sausage roll had it coming!”
“This isn’t funny, Mavis! This couldn’t be farther from funny!”
I forgot what we were talking about. “What happens next?”
He explained insistently, “I had to stop you, of course. I knew you wouldn’t like it when I touched you, but ---------- scratching holes in your arms ---------- blood all down your arm, but you wouldn’t let me ---------- out the window to the dump.”
While he spoke, I pushed my finger into a cold, mushy cherry and took way too long to pop it in my mouth. It tasted… in a word, obscene. My feet were yanked to the floor, my knees pried apart, and when I peeked down into the dark of the blanket, binary-blue glowing eyes leered up at me from between my legs. They winked.
It suddenly became way harder to listen, even as I stared intently at the speaker.
“Ralph actually brought you back up here when he found ---------- heal ---------- shouting about being a bird ---------- slow ---------- started to even out ---------- were very chatty, but still couldn’t understand me ---------- on my couch for two hours ---------- talking to me, but ----------- get through to you ---------- with that pie for an hour and a half…”
The wallpaper peeled down like banana skins, and suddenly, we were surrounded by an aquarium. Rather, we seemed to be in a glass box in the ocean, with a panorama view of the life around us. Rainbows of shimmering fish rippled over a coral reef blooming with funny, fingery flowers. Silhouettes of dolphins twirled in the distance. Pink jellyfish floated around like half-filled party balloons. I felt my little hood fall back as I took it all in, spellbound. Part of me wanted to break out and swim away. Would being a fish be so bad?
“Your eyes are still so blue…” he told me then.
I turned my head, and screamed as I felt a wall of icicles shoot through my body.
A dog was in the water. The one that got away. Looking like a deathly thin shark, it floated limply and stared at me with those dead, black eyes.
“THERE!”
I grabbed the nearest object and hurled it with all my strength. When the plate smashed against the wall, the illusion broke. All of them did. The apartment was just an apartment. I sat back in my chair and tried to steady my breathing, tried to level out my heart’s tantrum. Once I settled, I settled hard. I fell into an eerie sense of calm. A peaceful numbness.
When I saw the pie splattered over the wall and the plate shards on the floor, I said, “Aw. The pie.”
Then I heard a sniff.
I looked at Fix-it. He was crying. He covered his mouth and leaned on his elbows, quietly watching me through watery blinks. I waited for him to say something, but he didn’t.
“I can…” I said slowly, “cut another slice… or get another plate, you know… There’s no need to, uh…”
He didn’t answer.
Finally, I asked, “Why are you crying?”
For a moment, he only shook his head. Then he said, through his hand, “I just… I look at your face, and I just--” he shook, “-- I’m so afraid that this’ll be the last time I see it.”
I didn’t know what to say. I wasn’t even sure what he was talking about. My knowledge of my high state was unsteady.
“Why? Are you sick?”
“Make-it Mavis,” he said forcefully, “you’re going to corrupt yourself.”
I took a moment to contemplate that, long enough for him to ask if I still understood him.
“I hear you,” I nodded.
“I-- I thought,” he shook so hard, he could barely speak. “I watched you lying there on-- on my couch, and-- and your eyes were so bright, they cast beams on the ceiling, and-- and you were twitching and kicking and your--” he choked on his words, “-- I thought I could see a blue tint over your sprite-- it might have been my imagination but-- but I didn’t know what to do, because I was so-- so scared that you were-- were gonna corrupt right then and there, right in my living room, right-- right before my eyes!”
I felt around inside my cheek with my tongue. “If that’s the case, why would you worry about never seeing my face again? You’d see my face every day,” I shrugged. “Y’know, just in pieces.”
“Mav--” he broke right into sobbing. I was hopelessly confused.
I asked, “What’s the matter?”
After a period of collecting himself, he said, “Mavy, this isn’t a joke. If you take enough GC, and you get addicted, it’s-- it’s all over. The--” he seemed to go green, “-- the other sprites that have been found corrupted, they-- they all--... None of them had a code deficiency, Mavis. Do you know how long it took for a GC addiction to kill them?”
“Two weeks.”
He fell silent. As if he were afraid to ask, he breathed, “How many have you taken?”
I answered, even though I felt like I didn’t know, “Just two.”
“...Over how long?”
“I… don’t know. A couple days?”
Tears poured from his eyes. “Mavy… Mavy, do you want to corrupt?”
“What? No. I don’t even want to die, much less… y’know, that.”
“Then why?”
“Why what?”
“Why do you--...” he made vague, upset gestures. “You’re hurting so bad, Mavy. Why do you medicate with-- with this? None of this fixes anything. There are sprites who are able and willing to help you. Just let them. You don’t have to do this alone -- please, please realize that. None of us can undo… the past, but we can make the present and future better. Things can and will get better, Mavy, you just need to--”
“It can only get so much better, though, can’t it?”
He froze. I just blinked and sat in my chair comfortably, as if we were having a quaint conversation over tea. I didn’t even know where my words were coming from -- I just opened my mouth and let them flutter out like moths.
I continued, “It can only get so good. I think I almost found what ‘good’ really felt like to me, but… it’s over now. I don’t know if I have it in me to look for ‘good’ again, not when losing it hurts this much. I don’t know how to carry on, knowing what I do. I don’t want to die -- I just want to forget. I don’t want to corrupt, and I’m not trying to. I haven’t lost my will to live or anything, it’s just that… I’ve been looking for ways to be happy here my whole life, and… that search has never been more daunting than it is now. I’m tired. I want to rest my head for a while. I just want little vacations from life. That’s what GC is to me.”
We were both quiet for a moment. I spoke before I realized I’d opened my mouth.
“I’m too big for the life I was made for, Fix-it. I can only cut off so many pieces of myself to fit into it.”
He seemed stunned. With good reason, too. I’d never opened up to him quite like that before. He was lucky I was so high.
He muttered, “You… You mean being an Easter Egg?”
“Yeah. Everything that goes with it,” I thought for a second. “I probably have the smallest code out of any playable character in the arcade, and I’m still too big for this place. I don’t belong here. I’ve known that my whole life.”
I thought for a second. “I’m not sure I belong anywhere.”
“Mavis,” Fix-it said, suddenly firm, even with red eyes. “That is, if you’ll forgive my potty-mouth, a whole lotta hooey.”
“Hooey?”
“I know it’s hard for you to feel at home… anywhere, Mavy. I know the Devs served you the short end of the stick. And if I meet ‘em after I delete one day, you can bet I’ll give ‘em a good talkin’ to for treating my cousin like that -- but good golly, Mavis. You know this, you must know this,” he leaned on the table. “You are more than just an Easter Egg.”
I just looked at him, waiting. I expected him to tell me a bunch of stuff I already knew and that never helped me before. I was… mostly right.
“Mavis, I have not seen a single sprite less defined by their coded role than you. Most of the time, you don’t even show up for work! And, you know what? That’s okay! Because… I know these words hurt you real bad before, but…” he swallowed, determined. “This game… doesn’t need an Easter Egg.”
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I could hear a distant echo of Gene’s voice saying that, even after all these years. I didn’t have the emotional presence to be upset by Fix-it bringing it up. I just waited for him to finish his point.
“But this arcade,” he slapped the table, “needs a Make-it Mavis.”
I’ll admit it. That was a nice thing to hear.
I can’t tell if I was in a good or bad state to be receptive to it.
“Well…” I said, eyes wandering. “I’d like to believe you. Maybe it did. But it sure doesn’t want me right now.”
He considered that. “Times are really tough right now, but… they won’t always be. Someday soon, it’ll be okay. Once it’s all died down. And until then, you still have sprites who care about you.”
“Like who?”
“Me. Tapper. I-- I think Ralph… maybe? Uh…” he trailed off. I could see panic in his eyes.
I looked at him quietly. I could hear the effort in his voice, the genuine desire to help. More than that, I heard the fear. He was desperate to help me, but lost as to how, and afraid that he wouldn’t figure it out in time. I know I’m not easy to help. I know that. It’s kind of hard to put into words the reasons why. I just need to be able to know that I’m in charge of my own life, whether that lands me in good or bad places. I have a lot of reasons to fly solo. But as Fix-it threw himself so wholeheartedly into some kind of verbal rescue effort, I recognized that there was no way he could understand any of them. If the worst happened to me, I bet he would blame himself.
I knew all too well what that feels like.
I may not exactly be Fix-it’s biggest fan, but I don’t strive to be cruel. If I really was boarding a one-way train to corruption, attempting to dig up the seeds of guilt before they could take root would be the least I could do.
I wouldn’t have been good at that while sober. I don’t think being high made it any easier.
I asked, “Do you really love me?”
Fix-it froze as if I’d punched him in the chest. I just watched him.
“Of course,” he said quietly. “Of course I love you. Don’t you know that?”
“Sometimes. I think. There’s just something I need to tell you. I’ve been waiting for you to figure it out on your own, but, y’know...”
I looked at him. He was waiting on bated breath, already overflowing with tears. I’m sure he was expecting something better than what I said.
“You’re wasting your time.”
I genuinely took no joy in the stricken look that broke over his face. “What..? No, I’m not.”
“You’re wasting your time and your pain. You can’t keep wasting your love on me.”
“It’s not…” he shook. “I’m not wasting my love. How can you say that?”
“I…” I suddenly felt my shoulders getting heavy. “I… can’t... accept it.”
“Why, Mavy..?”
“I can’t,” I said a bit more forcefully. “No matter how much love you offer, I’m not built to receive it. You’re going through all the trouble of worrying about me all the time, and for what? Doesn’t it hurt you when you get nothing back? Loving me isn’t kind, it’s stupid.”
“Mav--”
“I have nothing to offer you. I can’t give you anything for your trouble. There’s no way for us to have…” I gestured, “a real, functioning relationship. I know it’s very hard to understand why, but trust me. The best thing you could possibly do for yourself is to stop caring so much about me. It’s just going to keep hurting you. Especially right now. If I really do get addicted to GC, and I corrupt myself, you’re going to feel like the entire Devs-forsaken world is ending. You’re going to think it was your fault for not doing more. You’re going to hate yourself every day for not protecting me, but you couldn’t have protected me. If I’m going to be corrupted, it’s going to have everything to do with me, and nothing to do with you. But if you love me so much, you won’t be able to understand that. You have so many reasons to hate me already. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll use them.”
He took a second to breathe, clearly dwarfed by the massive plate of emotions I was serving him. I could see in his eyes things that I didn’t quite understand, but they felt so invasive. I’d laid myself just open enough for him to peer inside, and even in my numb state, I felt horrendously naked. After a period of silence, my eyes fell, and my voice lowered.
“You can’t help me,” I said, and fell into barely a whisper. “I… don’t know how to let you.”
We were both quiet for a minute. I was hesitant to look up, but when I did, I was thrown for a loop.
He was smiling. Through tears, but still. There was a quivering, wavering smile on his face.
“Why…” I said cautiously, “...are you smiling?”
A short, single-note laugh burst wetly from his mouth, and he shook his head. “Mavy, don’t you see what you’re doing?”
“...No?”
“You’re giving back. You’re trying to protect me,” he nodded. “You do care about me.”
Yeah. Gross. But at the time, I was just stunned. I couldn’t fathom how I could have broken such hard truths over his head and still have him smiling. “You… wait, what?!”
“If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t even try. This is just one of the things that makes you so wonderful, Mavy -- you’re so full of surprises. You think you don’t know how to be loved, but you do. It just… might not be in the way everyone else does. You give back in ways you don’t see,” he said. “Like right now.”
I stared, agape.
“And, you know…” his smile weakened a bit, “I’m sorry that accepting help is so hard for you. And… yes, it is frustrating a lot of the time. It does hurt. But, no matter what you think you can or can’t accept…” he shrugged a bit, “I still love you. I don’t need your help with that. And you can’t protect me from it, either.”
“You…” I muttered, “ought to have higher standards for yourself. Don’t you want more?”
“Mavy…” he looked at me earnestly, tears flowing, “please listen to me. I don’t care about you just to get something in return. I care about you because I love you. I don’t care if you change or not. I just care that you’re safe.”
I said nothing. I don’t know what my face read.
He continued, “So please, please, Mavy. If I can’t protect you, please protect yourself for me. No more Game Changers, please. Please don’t take my cousin away.”
I blinked slowly and swallowed. “I’ll… try. I just don’t understand how you could care so much when I so clearly... don’t... want you to. Suppose I survive. Just how long do you think you could keep this up?”
Without a single thought, he answered, “Forever.”
The word was barely out of his mouth before I felt it quite physically slap me hard across the face. I reeled and pressed my palm into my cheek, sucking my teeth. I asked, “What in the eight bits was that..?” as pain in my head began to climb.
Fix-it straightened up. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I guess, but…” I pulled my hand from my cheek and saw a bright red streak over the palm of my glove. “What…”
Looking at it shot blinding pain through my head and tore holes in the oddly calm veil I’d been hiding behind. Clutching my head with my other hand, I asked, “Fix-it, am I bleeding?”
“No, Mavy. Not for a while, now.”
“Then what’s…” I stared at the stain, and my heart began to pound. I showed him my hand. “What is this?”
“That’s… your hand.”
“No,” I insisted. “The stain. On my glove.”
He put his hands up in a deescalating way. “Mavy…”
“I’ve seen it before. Why do I keep seeing it?!”
“Mavy, listen. You’re not wearing your gloves.”
It was still there when I turned my palm towards me. “Yes I am! It’s right here! What is it!?”
The sight of my hand became so sharp, so crisp and defined, the scarlet streak so vivid that it bore into my eyes, while the world around me began to wobble and distort at the edges. A hundred jackhammers in my head threatened to split my skull open. Wires of binary scratched, hissed, and sparked across my vision. I felt myself hit the floor.
Squinting through the stinging blue, I didn’t recognize the apartment anymore. I felt like I was looking at it through waves of warped glass. Patches of greyscale cut through the shifting colors. The lines on the wallpaper swelled and shrunk like a ribcage, and with each breath, the lights flared and dimmed. I heard a voice, far away and muffled as if underwater, and a mess of blurry pixels bent over me.
I was suddenly hit with an overwhelming panic. I was dropped into another mental timeline entirely. I was suddenly lost, unprepared -- I felt like I should have known what to do, but I didn’t. I had to act quickly, but I didn’t know on what. I had no idea where any of this was coming from.
I screamed almost involuntarily, and heard glass shatter.
I dodged the blurry figure with a roll, hit my already throbbing head on what I quickly recognized as a table leg. Almost on instinct, I dove for cover under said table, and folded myself up tight. I hid my face in my knees and pulled angrily at my hair, as if I could rip a hole in my scalp to vent out the pain. The crashing and smashing grew louder and more frequent.
When I dared to peek up from my knees, I saw the walls beginning to push inward with a groan, but not in a comforting way, this time. The drywall began to split and crumble with the pressure, and the room’s light started to struggle and flicker frantically, each frame of darkness seeming to plunge me into a completely different room. The shattering glass rang out like deafening warfare. I couldn’t take it. It was ravaging my brain in ways I didn’t understand. I had so many phantom emotions running my thoughts in circles, it just left me reeling.
“Stop,” I said into my knees, “Stop, stop, stop --” and I screamed, “STOP, STOP IT, YOU’RE GONNA PASS OUT!”
A hand made of dense, metallic code touched my arm.
I shrieked and scrambled backwards. Fix-it knelt in front of me, perfectly tangible, his hand still lifted. When I saw his worried face, I noticed that the rest of the room had snapped back into place, too. My heart wanted to break out of my chest, my head was still killing, and my throat was parched, but everything seemed intact and steady again. My arm still tingled in a sharp and gross way where he touched me. Apparently, the shock of his code was enough to snap me out of it. I wanted to be pissed at him for touching me, but I was too stunned. I took in the sight of him completely, crouching there in full work clothes sans hat, looking ready to collapse from exhaustion, yet still going through all the effort of trying to help me.
I was floored by the fact that he succeeded.
As I clutched my chest, trying to catch my breath, he sat down very gently. “Easy, easy,” he whispered, “it’s okay.”
I swallowed.
He asked carefully, “What’s your name?”
I breathed, “Mavy.”
His eyes widened a bit, and he held his breath for a second. He asked, “Do you know who I am?”
I stared at him. The bare bones of it, at that point, seemed obvious.
“My cousin.”
I swear I heard his heart thump.
He slowly brought up his knee to rest his cheek on it, and he took deep breaths. That episode clearly stressed him out, too -- hardly a fair comparison, but still. A weak smile appeared on his face. “Your eyes are starting to dim.”
For a moment, I tried to remember how much time had passed. Then, a pressing thought occurred to me.
“Wait. What time is it?”
“Uh,” his eyes shifted. “Around 3:30?”
“AM?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, crit--” I hit my head on the underside of the table. “Ow-- Okay, I gotta go,” I said as I climbed out and stood. “I’m so cussin’ late. Even for me.”
Fix-it got to his feet, too, and looked more than a little confused. “You had to be somewhere?”
I pulled my gloves on. “Yeah, I was supposed to meet Turbo in Paperboy like, five hours ago,” I grabbed my conveniently materialized leather jacket from the chair and shrugged into it. “He’s probably gone home by now to anger-sleep. You’d never believe that’s possible ‘til you’ve seen it.”
Fix-it just turned white.
I strode to the door in a place it hadn’t been before. “Toodles,” I said, before grabbing air and walking into the wall.
There was no door. There were no windows.
I was very late, and there was no way out.
Flash.
My game’s screen loomed in front of me.
I sat cross-legged, wrapped in the blanket, on the grass in front of Niceland, staring up at our inverted title screen with dry eyes. My body felt hot and riddled with aches that would only get worse as my high continued to fade, and my brain felt fizzled to a crisp. I was so tired, I couldn’t even recognize that I wanted to sleep.
Someone next to me didn’t have the same problem. I heard the honks of Fix-it’s cartoonish snoring. He was just barely upright, his face smushed against his bent knee, a bit of drool staining his pants. I wondered how long he’d been there. I wondered how we came to be there at all, but not enough to wake him. Maybe if I had been sober, I would have painted an airhorn. But, being hazy and braindead and with a faulty brush, I just idly flicked colors onto different parts of his sprite. Red hat, orange shirt, yellow shoes. Red hair, orange skin, yellow pants. Red, orange, yellow.
Past my sleeping canvas, I saw movement. Wreck-it was climbing onto his kingdom of bricks, presumably coming home after a particularly long night at Tapper’s. He came to the little peak behind which sat his stump, and paused. His head turned, and he saw me.
I looked at him blankly.
He held my gaze for a minute. It was hard to tell just what expression he was making, but even from my distance, I could see him sigh. He shook his head slowly and stepped out of view.
I couldn’t manage any thoughts on that.
Red, orange, yellow. Red, orange, yellow.

Sebastian’s Backstory (Analysis)
From 2x09 I think we can piece together some of Sebastian’s backstory. So here is my very long analysis/recap on what we know about Sebastian’s backstory and what parts I think are the truth and what parts are lies.
CHILDHOOD (1570s-1580s)
At 8 years old, Sebastian’s parents sold him to merchant ship. This suggests he grew up in a poor family and probably didn’t have much of a childhood to begin with.
Sebastian continuously ran away from the ship, but the crew always found him. He was either really bad at running away, or the crew had a few supernatural members on board who could track him. Werewolves or vampires could do it by scent. Witches could do it by using an object he owned.
They punished him, likely with some form of torture, perhaps magical in nature. This happened repeatedly over the years, likely at every port they visited.
When Sebastian was 17, he was turned into a vampire. This was after 9 years of being enslaved to this merchant ship. It’s quite possible he found a way to convince someone to turn him into a vampire so he could fight back.
Sebastian likely slaughtered his entire crew and took over the ship. He became a pirate and killed so much that he gained the nickname “Sebastian the Merciless.” His ship flew the pirate flag, black with a white skull and crossbones.
He added other vampires to his crew and they went searching for things to steal or people to attack (Alaric calls them marauding vampire pirates). He would have needed some non-vampires to man the ship during the day, probably a witch or two on board.
ROANOKE (1587-1590)
His ship came to the Colonies (America) and he stopped at Roanoke. It is likely he met Cassandra there since she was involved with the townspeople and subject to their rules.
In Roanoke, Sebastian continued to be a monster. He still fed on humans while he fell in love with Cassandra. She obviously saw some good in him because she protected him from the town leadership, even going so far as to summon a monster worse than him so the town wouldn’t discover him.
Cassandra desiccated him to save him from the monster she summoned, and he watched from a spectral state as she was torn apart by the monster. She left the token that could destroy the monster around his neck in his coffin.
Somehow his coffin was moved from Roanoke to Mystic Falls. It’s unclear why it was in the basement of the Salvatore school or how long it has been there.
Sebastian claims to have been in that coffin for 483 years. Judging by his backstory, I think he is lying. He was likely a vampire for at least a few years before he was desiccated. I find it unlikely he became a vampire, formed a vampire pirate crew, and fell in love with a witch all in the span of one year, especially considering how much longer it took to sail on the ocean in that time period. But it is still possible that he was indeed desiccated at 17. We can only guess whether he was telling the truth or not. (I did the math, and if Sebastian really was desiccated in Roanoke, he would have only been desiccated for a maximum of 440 years.)
AWAKENING (September 2028)
MG and Kaleb splashed some blood onto Sebastian’s coffin while they were moving the blood fountain. It was enough to allow Sebastian to reach out to someone “fragile minded.” He chose Lizzie for unknown reasons.
Continuously, he warns her he is dangerous while flirting with her. He is definitely saying the right things to get close to her, and when they go on their date, he asks for what he needs. I think it’s important to note that he asks her if she has a supply of human blood and does not ask her to give him any of her blood. She probably would have if he’d asked, but he does not want to harm her or accidentally kill her if he drinks too much.
MG interrupts and tells Lizzie she’s seeing things, thereby breaking Lizzie’s connection to Sebastian, so Sebastian reaches out to MG.
MG won’t help him, so Sebastian takes advantage of Wade. It’s important to note that he doesn’t kill Wade. The Sebastian of the past would have killed him without a thought, but Sebastian of the present lets him go once he has enough blood to restore himself.
Sebastian lurks around the school and tries to attack Kym in the woods, but MG and Kaleb stop him.
When the Croatoan is on the loose, Sebastian offers MG sensitive information about his past to help them defeat it. He could have let the Croatoan wipe everyone out, or withheld the information until many more were slaughtered, but he gave MG the information as soon as he remembered it. He specifically mentioned that he didn’t want Lizzie to be killed by the monster.
Vardemus meets with Sebastian and decides he should be enrolled in the school to keep him from attacking people on the streets. Since this is Clarke, he may have had other plans for Sebastian, but we can’t know what that might have been.
THE SALVATORE SCHOOL (October-December 2028)
Lizzie makes Sebastian a daylight ring so that he can go pick up Landon with her. Sebastian says he wants to drink human blood, and Lizzie tries to ditch him on the side of the road.
Sebastian kills Landon. I fully believe that someone has told him that Landon is a phoenix and will come back to life if he’s killed. He was likely curious to see how that worked and probably did it mostly to annoy Lizzie. Landon wasn’t threatening Lizzie when it happened, and Sebastian isn’t just going to snap someone’s neck for no reason (at least not now).
Sebastian is charged with changing out the flat tire, even though he’s never done that before. He somehow manages to do it, but now that we know he worked on a ship, that kind of handy work wouldn’t be too bad for him.
Lizzie is not accepting his advances, so he reminds her he’s dangerous and grabs her neck. His gamble succeeds and she’s into the idea of danger. Sebastian and Lizzie have sex on the hood of her car.
Sebastian admits that the world has been cruel to him and that he wants to stay at the Salvatore school.
Sebastian and Lizzie have a lot of sex back at the Salvatore school, and they make out in the hallways. It’s safe to say the whole school, minus the teachers, know that she and Sebastian are kind of a thing.
Alaric tells Sebastian that he’ll have to pass some tests if he is to stay at the school. He has Landon administer the tests because he will come back to life if Sebastian kills him.
Sebastian makes an effort with the werewolves.
Sebastian recognizes that Alyssa set a trap for him by cutting herself on purpose. He has incredible self control. Literally every other vampire in the room has red eyes and fangs bared, but Sebastian is completely calm the whole time.
Sebastian helps calm down MG when MG’s ripper side takes over. He didn’t need to do this, but he obviously cares about MG enough to stop him from making a huge mistake. He knows about rippers and has likely seen some in his time.
Sebastian warns Landon that he should be worrying about MG and Alyssa instead of him.
Landon takes Sebastian to see the witches. Alyssa tries to get him to fail the tests again by using her magical orb to read his deepest feelings. It’s pretty clear that he’s hoping Alyssa will see how much he desires Lizzie and get embarrassed by his feelings. Instead she sees the truths he can’t even admit to himself yet. 1) The modern world is terrifying, 2) He’s afraid they won’t let him stay at the school, 3) He’s afraid they’ll find out about his past and throw him away “like trash off the side of a boat.” Alyssa’s word choice here makes me wonder if the feelings orb revealed anything about his piratey past. And then lastly, 4) He knows Lizzie is better than him and that he doesn’t deserve her.
Sebastian reacts badly, throwing Landon off of him, and then the witches use a spell on him. Lizzie stops them, and Sebastian looks genuinely terrified. He runs from them, embarrassed and wounded. I think what Alyssa said served as a big wakeup call to him. He has a past that he can’t escape, and he’s afraid that he will end up hurting Lizzie.
Sebastian works out his frustrations by practicing his sword work in the gym. Landon comes to talk to him. Sebastian opens up to him about his past on the merchant ship and how he was tortured.
Sebastian leaves campus and feeds on a girl jogging outside at night. Alaric has followed him and shoots him with a crossbow. I fully believe Sebastian knew Alaric was following him. He lured Alaric away from the campus to get him to stop him.
Alaric has discovered Sebastian is “Sebastian the Merciless,” a vampire pirate, but he’s still willing to give Sebastian a second chance. Sebastian could easily take this chance. He could act grateful and get the chance to stay at the school and sleep with Lizzie to his heart’s content. A true villain would accept that offer.
But Sebastian claims he’s controlling Lizzie and that he’s had sex with her all around the school. He says things that target Alaric’s anger. He’s goading him into attacking him. I fully believe Sebastian wanted to die to protect Lizzie. He felt that his past was too much to overcome and that she would be better off without him.
Alaric temporarily locks Sebastian up. Either Emma got a last minute flight or Alaric anticipated this happening and had her on standby. Emma helps to lock Sebastian in the prison world the twins made for Kai.
THE PRISON WORLD (February 17, 2018 - prison worlds run on a loop)
Sebastian encounters Alaric, Josie, and Lizzie in the prison world. He clearly knows that Alaric has sent multiple students to the prison world because he says “The miseducation of young minds.”
TL;DR - Sebastian has killed many people, but he is capable of love. He’s willing to sacrifice himself to protect Lizzie. Basically, there’s a lot more to Sebastian than we’re seeing.

Kissing Dead Pearls (Part 28)
For someone who wears a sling, Azula is strangely unintimidated by the prospect of going back to sea. Sokka isn’t particularly surprised though, she always has been the resilient sort. The type to brush things off and get back to whatever task she had been doing before tragedy struck. It is one of the things that had drawn him to her in the first place. If he isn’t mistaken he would say that she is rather eager to get back to sailing.
He can think of several other things that he’d rather be doing. “Wouldn’t it be quicker to just take a plane back home.”
Azula tilted her head, “we can’t just leave the boat.”
“I dunno, that thing looks pretty banged up, I’m sure that you guys could get a newer and better one.”
“Sokka, it’s not even our boat.” Zuko points out. “We’re borrowing it from that ex-pirate who runs the town bar.”
Sokka cocks his head. “Why would he lend you a boat?”
“He and dad have gotten close.”
Sokka furrows his brows.
Azula sighs and scans the beach for her Ozai before whispering, “I already told you about father’s drinking problem.”
He flushes as the pieces click. “Oh, yeah. Bars. Drinking. Talking to the bar owner.”
Azula swats him, “not so loud!”
“Ow! Blisters!”
Azula rolls her eyes. “Your days of being babied are over!” She declares. “And besides, most of your blisters are gone now anyways, you’re just trying to get special treatment.”
“And that takes the attention away from you?” He quirks a brow and gestures to her arm.
“I,” she draws the syllable out, “am not complaining.”
“Hey, Sokka!” Katara calls. “I found a piece of your raft.” She holds up a bright yellow strip.
“Anyways, I still think that we should travel by plane. Ozai and Jet can sail the boat back and the rest of us will meet him there.”
Azula fixes him with a dull stare. “Sokka, that’s a terrible idea.”
Looking equally as unentertained, Zuko adds, “I’m not going to leave my father unattended.”
“And your father isn’t going to leave you unattended either.” He mutters. “Not after the fiasco with the souvenir shop.”
Zuko flushes, “that wasn’t even my idea.” He flicks his gaze to his sister.
She gives one of her faux innocent stares. “I can’t do much damage like this.” She strokes her sling.
“It only takes one hand to pop several blisters.” Sokka grumbles.
“Gross, Sokka!” Katara exclaims.
“Our luggage is on the ship.” Ozai remarks.
“What about Jet?” Katara asks.
“He has been on the ship avoiding me.” Azula crosses her arms.
Sokka can hear the hurt in her voice but she says nothing more of it. He feels another onslaught of guilt for finding relief in Jet’s avoidance. If he is angry with Azula, then he won’t have to worry about the other boy getting in the way of things. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times Azula assures him that she has chosen him over Jet, he still can’t shake away the paranoia. He isn’t sure how close she had gotten to Jet and he is afraid to ask. Just as he can’t shake his dread of the sea.
“Come on, Sokka. Everyone else is on board.” Her touch is much gentler this time, less playful.
“I’d really rather…”
“Take a plane. You’ve said so.” She nods. “It’ll be fine, we got here in one piece.” He doesn’t miss the split second glance she makes at the sail. It might be that he is over thinking things, but he has a suspicion that there was a mishap with that sail. “And you won’t be alone this time if we get lost.”
“Unless…” he lifts a pointer, “we get separated by a storm.”
“We’ll be fine, Sokka.”
“How do you know?”
“Because it would be absurd for the universe to hand you back if it was just going to kill you a few weeks later. Why would it when it could have just killed you in that storm?” She shrugs.
“Gee. That’s reassuring.” He rubs the back of his head. Her humor has always been somewhat dark but her delivery has never been this dry. Dry to the point where he thinks that she is only half joking. It is just one more glimpse into the damage he has done in disappearing for so long.
And then it dawns upon him--and he swallows a lump in his throat--that in the time that he had left, she has changed. It wouldn’t make sense if she didn’t. But what if she has changed into someone that he doesn’t particularly love...could she have changed that much? Could he have changed as well?
“Come on, Sokka.” She says softly, more sympathetically. “I have something for you.”
He bites his cheek. There really is no sense in drawing this out, he knows that he is getting on the boat one way or another. It is probably better to spare himself of Azula fetching her father to carry him aboard kicking and screaming. He also can’t deny that she has piqued his curiosity.
He follows her onto the ship. It is a lot sturdier than his was. And bigger.
“Khozen says that this ship has survived a few decades of storms.” Azula points out as she leads him below deck and to the cabins. “And, just so you know, we tested that. Overall, it is a well built ship.” She sits down upon what he assumes is her bed and she pats the spot next to her.
He takes a seat. He looks the girl up and down as she shuffles around a suitcase. Now that the novelty is wearing off he is noticing more things. More changes; mostly his gaze is glued to the scar on her chin. He wishes he didn’t, but every time he sees it he imagines her with cloudy eyes and none of that fiery spirit standing at the edge of a cliff. He sees a different person entirely. A more dismal person.
The real Azula is much different than the one in his mind’s eye. She is grinning, holding something behind her back. “I’ll give you three guess. If you don’t get it then you don’t get the thing that I am holding.”
Some of his anxieties wash away as a memory drives the darker images out of his mind. Now he is picturing a much smaller Azula with big eyes, chubby cheeks, and a missing front tooth.
He can’t quite get the voice right in his head, but he remembers her declaring, “what am I holding, Sokka!? If you get it right, you get a prize.” She only gave him unlimited guesses because she knew that hadn’t stood a chance. Usually with this game, other kids held was  coin or a toy. Azula...she was always different. After guessing, “a coin? A stick of gum? A dollar bill? Five dollars!? A rubber duck…” She held out her fist and opened it to reveal a cherry pit.
So that is what he goes with, “it’s a cherry pit, isn’t it?”
She shakes her head. “Good guess, but now.”
“A pumpkin seed?”
Azula rolls her eyes. “Pumpkins aren’t in season.”
Her eyes, they are the same, but they are different. He thinks that they aren’t so care free anymore. There is a knowingness to them. A hardness that goes beyond any physical changes.
And there are plenty of those too. He had expected her to have grown taller, but she really hasn’t. But her face has lost a little more of its softness, he thinks that her cheekbones are more pronounced. He thinks that her muscles are more defined...that would explain the iron grip that she’d had on him. She wears her hair differently too, it is somewhat more tousled and is no longer bound up.
“Stop thinking so much and just start throwing guesses. I’ll give you a hint.”
Sokka pretends like that is what he had been thinking about. “Shoot.” He forces a smile.
“It has seen better days, but it’s still kind of cute.” She pauses. “Sort of like you.”
His smile becomes more genuine and he tries not to laugh. “It’s my clownfish isn’t it?”
Azula blinks before chucking it at him. “You cheated.”
“It isn’t my fault that you gave such an obvious hint.”
She turns her head and folds her good arm against the other. “That was a pity hint.” He is glad that she does. It reassures him that she is still there. Even if her eyes are more tired, even if her body bares the scars of a rough period, her smile is still the same. Her mannerisms are the same.
He puts the stuffed clownfish to the side and puts an arm around her. He can’t fault her for her changes, not when she has probably observed some within him.
.oOo.
He has lost his spunk. His adventurous spirit. The ocean stole that from him and dragged it to its depths alongside his cargo.
His posture isn’t quite right. At first she thinks that it is because he is physically frailer. The doctors had warned that it might take several months for him to re-attain a healthy body weight. And that it might take longer for the patches of discolored skin to even out again.
But they hadn’t warned her that his mind might be frailer. Though she thinks that it was probably implied. He still jokes and quips. He still makes her laugh. But he always seems weary and on edge. As though the sea will flood and snatch him back from wherever he stands.
Azula can’t hold it against him. She can’t imagine it is all too different from the fragility that had gripped her own mind some time back. She lets him hold her but she feels as though she should be holding him.
“When did you start wearing your hair down?” He had inquired a few hours ago.
“I think the month after you left.”
“Why?”
She hadn’t had the heart to tell him that it was because she had simply stopped seeing the point in putting so much effort in. Instead she told him that she needed change, and it wasn’t a complete lie. It was simply a small fragment of a whole truth.
“When did you decide to grow a beard?” She had tried to lighten her own mood.
“It wasn’t a decision.” They both laughed at this. And just as she had begun to stop laughing, he flared his nostrils and gave his beard a few pretentious strokes. “Do you fancy it m’lady?”
“You’re shaving tomorrow.” Secondhand embarrassment had spread color upon her cheeks.
The conversation had died away three hours ago. She pretends to be asleep, she isn’t sure if he wants to be caught crying. She wonders if she should get Katara, it seems somehow more appropriate to have a sister comforting a brother. That is how it has always been between she and Zuko.
Azula looks at the bed over. Katara is sleeping soundly. Pictures of events that Sokka has missed are still sprawled out on her nightstand. One by one Katara had been going through them, catching Sokka up on everything.
Azula doesn’t know how the pair had spent the alone time she’d given them, but Katara had went to bed extra cheerful.
“When did you wake up?” Sokka asks as he wipes his eyes.
“A few minutes ago, I guess.”
“Oh.”
“Why are you crying?” She notices that he is shaking and comes to a few conclusions. The boat rolls and bobs as it makes its way through the waves. “The ocean is very calm tonight. Do you want to go on deck?”
He shakes his head abruptly. “I don’t like how open it is.”
Azula nods. She takes his hand. She could tell him that it really isn’t that bad, but what good would that do? It would only be entirely dismissive. And a simple, ‘it’s going to be okay’ seems insufficient. Instead she says, “you were strong enough to find sleep on an unstable raft, you’re strong enough to get used to this.”
Though she thinks that these words might only be comforting to her. She thinks that words might not mean much at all right now. Her grip simply needs to be stronger than the pull of the sea. So she holds him close and waits for his anxious trembles to pass.
If he falls asleep in her arms then she will just deal with the earful that her father will give her.
“You used to love the ocean. You can’t fear it now.” She tries. “You beat it. You shouldn’t fear something that you have defeated.

Dragon Dancer IV: Odin’s Mask
As soon as we exited the steam room, Chu Zihang stopped and leaned against the wall.
“What do you need?” I asked. I bent over, settling Ru’Yi back on my back and tying her with the wrap.
“I need water.” He gasped.
I looked around the hall and spotted the wall mounted hose. I pulled the hose out from the reel. “Hopefully, you didn’t blow the whole water main.”
I pulled the wheel to open the tap and immediately a blast water struck him directly and he had to shield himself with his arm.
“Sorry!” I turned the wheel the other way to soften the flow.
“No, this is fine…” He picked up the hose and held it over his head until he was completely drenched.
Blood Rage and repeated use of Royal Fire raised his body temperature and increased his thirst. His took sips out of hose even though it probably tasted disgusting.
He let the water run over his body for a few seconds and then let out a breathy chuckle.
“What’s so funny?” I asked him. I wet my hands and reached behind me to clean Ru’Yi’s dirty face.
“She… she used Blood Rage. Susie did. I didn’t think she would be able to understand that text.”
I reached out and touched his neck with the back of my hand. “You’re really warm.”
“I’ll be okay.” He straightened up, still looking exhausted.
We heard a soft sound, like skittering feet disappearing into the distant hall. The monsters were still fleeing from us.
Zihang glared after the sound. “We have to take those things out. Cassell’s no longer what it was. And even if it was the same… it’s shameful that they keep these things.”
He looked at me. “I want to take these things down to the lowest deck of the ship and release Royal Fire there. Burn them all.”
He was awfully weak. It was the first time he’d used his Soul Skill in months.
He grasped my chin in his hand and kissed me. His warm lips caressed mine and tears sprang to my eyes.
“I won’t die. Don’t worry.” He murmurred.
“I don’t want to let you out of my sight again.” I sobbed.
He gently stroked the tears from my face, looking into my eyes, they were still dark but a yellow light shone in the center of his pupils. “No, Meixiu. I’m here. There’s no need to drag Ru’Yi into danger again. Go back to Lu Mingfei and Nono and protect them while I work. We have to be ready to go. If Susie’s here, Lancelot can’t be far behind.”
With one more parting kiss, he turned and ran away from me, swift like a leopard.
I hurried through the hallways, completely safe from the harassment of those monsters. My heart was beaming with joy. Chu Zihang - my Chu Zihang - was back. If we were strong before we were even stronger now. We would find who was behind this hideous Soul Skill and run him through, and then burn him to ashes!
I reached the heavy steel door, unlocked it, threw it open and was immediately knocked over by Lu Mingfei who had been pushing hard against the door to try to open it. I had to twist myself to avoid falling on Ru’Yi!
“Oh you idiot! What are you doing?!” I yelled at him.
“Sorry! Sorry! Where’s Zihang?” He helped me up off the floor.
I gathered a sobbing Ru’Yi in my arms and rocked her back and forth looking at Lu Mingfei reproachfully. “He’s gone to kill those monsters, that’s where. But we need to be ready to leave. Susie’s here and she’s bound to bring the rest of her crew!”
“We have to find Zihang right away.” Nono walked out, looking better, but her eyes were flashing with concern.
“No, he’ll be fine!” I grinned. “Guys, his memory returned! He can use Blood Rage, and Royal Fire! He’s really back!”
“That’s… that’s amazing!” Lu Mingfei grinned. “But we still have to find him!”
“He took Odin’s mask!” Nono said, her expression grave.
My smile faded. “What does that mean…?”
“Odin’s mask has tremendous power. When he puts it on, he turns into Odin.”
My heart dropped in my chest. “Can he change back?”
“Who knows!”
My mouth closed. I felt suddenly very cold. In my life, I had met men so willing to throw their lives away. Chisei Gen, Lu Mingfei, Crow… and, until that Christmas Eve, Chu Zihang was more than willing to throw his life away for the cause of chasing dragons. But that night, I heard a different Chu Zihang, one who wanted to give up dragonslaying and live with me.
“He won’t use it. Unless he absolutely has to. He said he wouldn’t die.” I licked my lips. “He wouldn’t lie to me.”
Nono looked at me silent and serious. “I hope you’re right.”
A blast shuddered through the entire ship. I thought maybe we were being bombed or had been struck by a torpedo! The floor tilted and I shouted, backing into the wall. Panicked, I summoned a light spear and embedded it in the wall to hang on for dear life. I watched as Mingfei and Nono tumbled about, running into each other coming apart to slam into the walls.
Finally, the ship settled on its side, vibrating like it was having a seizure. A tremendous popping sound was followed by the sound of rushing water. A huge wave of frigid ocean pushed us all back into the tiny room and rapidly began to fill it.
There was no time to think. I started cutting through the hull with my light spear. “Nono! Hold Ru’Yi above the water!”
Mingfei held on to Nono and Nono held on to my baby. My eyes burned with dragon blood and I thrust my spear up into the thick wall above me. A piece of hot metal fell into my eye and I cringed back, screaming.
“Carli!”
My head went under. The pain was unbearable. I popped back above the water and heard a voice. “Meixiu! Mingfei!”
Suddenly, the bulkhead tore open, peeling back from where I had tried to cut it. Zihang had to force it back with all his strength, shouting with the effort, his eyes a blaze of red and gold. Even with his Dragon blood high from Blood Rage, it wasn’t easy tearing through this steel plate. A hand grabbed me by the back of my collar and hauled me out of the water.
I sobbed with pain.
“Are you alright?” His face was close to mine.
I looked at him, one hand over my eye and nodded.
Ru’Yi was next, Zihang reached down to pull her out and gave her to me. The hull was violently shaking as the weight of the crashing waves began to tear it apart.
“After I get you guys up, I have to go and find Susie.” Zihang was saying.
“You’re going back in there?” I squeaked.
Zihang grabbed me by my arm. “I’m okay. I promised.” He said, looking me in my eyes.
“Okay…” I said, a little stunned.
“Nono’s still hurt!” Lu Mingfei’s voice came from back inside. I could only sit stunned, wet and cold. Ru’Yi was shaking and may be suffering from hypothermia. I quickly looked around but it was impossible to stay dry and warm in the constant seaspray. I could only pray that the strength of her dragonblood would keep her alive.
“I can’t use Don’t Die on her again. It draws on the body’s own resources. If I do, she might die even if the wound heals.” Mingfei’s voice echoed from the hull.
“Okay. Let’s get her out first.” Zihang was saying, reaching down.
At this moment, a steel cable about an inch thick caught him by the neck and pulled him hard enough to break it had he not been in a state of Blood Rage.
I screamed when his face went pale from strangulation.
The massive clawed monster from before lifted Zihang to shield its face and reached up with its claws to cut his head off. It was smiling at me, reveling in our seeming helplessness. It must have seen us embrace. It must have seen the love in our eyes, because it laughed, not at Zihang, but at me.
This was revenge on me!
Behind him, it was another beast holding the steel cable and several more immortals were rising out of the sea after him!
“Nono! Quick…” Zihang gagged. “Get out of…”
An explosion of gunfire ripped up from the gap in the hull and the clawed creature was forced to drop Zihang and shield itself from the bullets. It whirled to the hole and slammed its claws down to where Mingfei and Nono were.
As soon as Zihang fell my light spear, dazzling like a comet, shot from the void and pierced the beast’s head. I held out my hand and closed my fist and the spear split into seven shining spires tearing the creature's head into chunks. Burning with rage and grief, I sent those spires after the one holding the cable and they pierced his head all at once. It fell with a limp thud.
But its hand still gipped the cable. Zihang had been pulled several feet away and now dangled off the curve of the hull. He’d stabbed Tongzi into the hull to keep himself from sliding off but the weight of the monster on the other end of the cable still constricted his throat. He pulled at it with his free hand to breath. “Get Nono out!”
I scrambled over to the gap. But both Nono and Mingfei were gone. There was only the the black water in the cabin.
I stood there with my baby in my arms, silent and still. Tears falling from my eyes.
“Mingfei….” I whimpered.
“Nono…”
The sound of a helicopter. I looked up into the bright spotlight shining down on me. I looked over at Chu Zihang who was still struggling to breathe.
My daughter…
“Daddy?” I whispered. His voice was resounding in my mind. Louder than the helicopter, thundering like the sea.
I see you… standing on the threshold.
“It’s a terrible place…” I whimpered.
Your time is near. Do not be frightened.
“Okay…” I whispered.
I crouched down and scooted closer to Chu Zihang as the spotlight drifted from me, down to him.
“No!” He called out. His voice hoarse. “No… Meixiu! Run! Find Susie!”
I could tell he was losing strength. I wanted to tell him that they were going to kill him. But the words wouldn’t leave my throat. His struggles were becoming weaker and less frequent. It was all he could do to hang on to Tongzi.
Suddenly, someone came running. The immortals, still holding back out of fear of me, ignored her. It was Susie! She was shouting! “Stop! Don’t shoot! Don’t!” She waved her hands at the helicopter.
She was still bloody. Her clothing was torn. But she smiled and gave me a thumbs up. Then she turned and slid down the hull to reach Zihang.
That’s when I saw the sudden beam of a laser sight move toward him. Susie must have seen it as well, because she converted her slide into a sudden leap.
Susie’s body burst apart. Momentum still carried her and she landed directly over Zihang.
His anguish swept over me like a white hot tidal current. I fell to my knees and lifted my face, screaming it into the sky. Chu Zihang was holding her, ignoring the pain and breathlessness of the cable, rocking her back and forth like she was a baby in his arms.
For a moment, I could hear his mind, his thoughts flooding out my own. “Susie, god no… please no… no… Susie… why?”
He was going to get her. I was going to go back and get her. Why did she come? Why did this happen?
There was no further gunfire. The crew in the helicopter must have realized they had made a terrible mistake.
A huge rocket suddenly shot from the helicopter. Not at Chu Zihang and I, but at the immortals. They turned and looked at it dumbly for a second before they were hit directly, swallowed by a pillar of fire that roared upwards and felt hot even at this distance.
They were ridding the ship of their weapons. I took that to mean we would be next. The boat was still sinking and the waves had reached Zihang and Susie now. He was still holding onto her but the explosion caused a huge wave to sweep over them both. When I saw him again, Susie’s body had been pulled from his arms.
“Susie!” He called out to her.
Her body floated away in the dawn light, her white face distinct in the among the floating debris, like a lost doll.
I hadn’t heard anyone cry like this, not since the mourning of Chisei Gen at the death of Sakura Yabuki, perhaps because this was something similar. Zihang didn’t have very many close people. I remembered his laughter just minutes ago when she had learned blood rage and his smile when he told her how strong she was.
I was one of the few people he still had feelings for. And one of the few others had been Susie.
I felt his emotions suddenly shift. I knew what he was about to do. His last person left in this place was still at risk. He wasn’t about to lose me.
I lowered my head, giving my silent consent.
I heard a collective roar. The immortals were not killed by the helicopter missile and together they raised their voices, like wolves before a hunt. A wave of scorching heat radiated from Chu Zihang. A reciting of various dragon texts resonated in the air and the immortals began to echo them.
Chu Zihang forced himself to stand against the hull of the ship, surrounded by a black and red aura. He tore the steel cable from this throat with hands that had converted into heavy claws.
The wind, that had been steadily blowing out from land, suddenly shifted direction three times in three seconds. My hair tossed about my face as I watched him, a fondness growing in my own heart.
I closed my own eyes and focused on raising my dragonblood, if not to fight, then to be in solidarity with him. He was not alone in the world. He was not a monster.
They were the monsters.
The clouds that had floated so tranquil above us gathered together, thickened and darkened. I looked up, feeling the rain on my face as they descended over us in a dense column of elemental turbulence.
I looked down at Ru’Yi who was now very still and quiet. But she was okay. She was listening. “Do you hear Daddy?” I asked her gently, stroking her hair with crystalline claws.
The ship was suddenly rocked with violent explosions and fire and smoke. They’d opened fire on him.
However, every time it appeared a piece of shrapnel would strike us, a flash of lightning came from the cloud and incinerated it. I took a deep breath and felt my back ache as those large white feathered wings pushed through my skin from between my shoulders.
I heard the sound of hooves on metal and felt their heavy vibration through my feet.
An eight-legged horse covered in dark armor plating emerged from the cyclone. It snorted lighting and mist from its nostrils and shook its head vigorously.
Its rider, wearing a dark blue cloak, reached down his hand to me. I took it and he lifted me to sit behind him., side saddle, like a princess. My feathered white wings trailed over the horse’s rump like a wedding train.
Together, we looked up at the darkened sky. Where our eye looked, a group of golden fireworks exploded. Those golden spears of light streamed down like meteors. The surrounding area of the sea was covered by this dense meteor shower. Only when the spears of light pierced the immortals could I see that every one was a twisted tree branch.
The spears pierced every living thing, including the helicopter in front of us, sending it deep into the waves where it exploded with a dull boom.
I looked at Zihang. He was still looking at the sky and where his one eye glowed, a lava-like trail flowed down his mask.
My consciousness faded and I felt like I was in a dream for a moment. Zihang was standing, head bowed, staring into a deep abyss. He lifted his head and looked at me and I took his hand. “Let’s go.”
When I woke up, I was standing next to him, still holding his hand and time had passed. The sun was up and we were surrounded by groups of boats and helicopters.
It was the Crane group from Crow. All they found as a derelict and disabled vessel, the floating helicopter wreckage, as well as the immortals’ shrunken, mummified corpses.
Chu Zihang, Ru’Yi, and I were the only known survivors.

----------------------
the sun bathed your skin in a warm glow, the tall grass licking at your legs as you pounced through the flowered fields. your giggles filled the dreamlike atmosphere around you while you bounded forth into the sea of flowers. you yelped as you tripped, tumbling to the ground with no mercy given from gravity. luckily, the soft bunches of flowers cushioned your fall, causing no damage to your delicate self. however, that didn't stop you from bursting into tears. as quickly as you started, you stopped when you felt arms hugging your body.
"aww, sweetie," a soft voice cooed to you, rubbing your back and coaxing the tears to stop. you sniffled as you heard the woman's voice hum to you in a comforting manner. "you're alright, no need to cry." your eyes slowly began to close as she rocked your dazed form back and forth against her, her voice fading away into a distant whisper. "mommy's here, she'll never leave you."
the first sensation you had felt was the throbbing sensation thrumming against your skull. your already closed eyes shut tighter as you winced in pain, grumbling aloud and turning over onto your side. you tried to go back to sleep, but the agonizing pounding in your head grew too much. painstakingly slow, your eyes cracked open to find yourself in a room of medical equipment, illuminated by the sun's familiarly bright rays shining through the porthole. various surgical knives and ailments littered the tables bordering the small room, and two beds sat opposite one another. seated at a desk in front of the opposite bed sat yixing, someone you haven't had a conversation with yet.
"you're awake," he stated into the still room, turning in his chair to face you. you felt a sense of relief and he gave you a tenderhearted grin; the same grin you'd give to passerbys on the street. he stood up with a sigh and walked over to your side. you stared up at him helplessly, your head swathed with pain and what appeared to be bandages from my peripheral vision. he cupped your jaw, turning your head side to side and humming. "it's only been a few hours, but I should check your stitches. so, I'm going to--"
"my stitches?" you shouted in disbelief, about to shoot up on the bed, but collapsing before you could make it even a centimeter up. "what do you mean stitches? what happened to me?" yixing stared down at you in amusement, chuckling and shaking his head as he cautiously unwrapped your bandages.
"you seriously don't remember your fall on deck?"
"I fell again?" you gaped up at him. he nodded, crumpling the used bandages into a pile in his hands.
"I didn't see the whole fiasco. I was down here when I heard a rather sickening thunk above me, so I went to check it out and I saw you dangling by your ankle on the sail post." he tossed the bandages aside and assisted you in sitting up. "you were unconscious, so i brought you down, but you had lost a bit of blood from the split in your scalp."
"I split open my head?" you questioned, voice monotone in dread of your near death experience.
"you did indeed," he patted your scalp with a cloth, causing you to wince every few taps. "no need to worry though. I stitched you up and you're good as new. I didn't even need to shave that side of your head so you're welcome."you would've fainted right then and there if it weren't for the day flinging open and a disgruntled pirate barreling into the room.
"yixing, we need to talk," the man announced. upon closer inspection, you discovered it to be minseok, the eldest on the ship.
"minseok, I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times; just because I'm the doctor of the ship doesn't mean I'm your psychologist either. I could care less if you fall into bedlam from one more day on this ship."
"I can't take this isolation, I'm going mad," he collapsed onto the opposite bed, apparently not noticing your poor state. "there's no where to go. everywhere I look is the same godforsaken blue I see everyday of my life. I've never hated a color so much, it's everywhere. I look up and it's a blue sky, I look down and it's a blue ocean."
"uh huh," yixing mumbled as he wrapped my head back in clean bandages.
"the closest excitement we've gotten is the girl, but I haven't seen her all day so now I'm back to my thoughts, and that's never good."
"well, it's your lucky day," yixing turned away from you to toss your older bandages into the trash bin. before minseok could question him, he spotted you.
"oh hello," he bowed his head respectfully to you, giving you a wide, gummy grin. "I'm minseok."
"I'm (y/n)," you nodded your head towards him, cringing at the incessant throbbing reminding you of your incident from earlier.
"what happened to you?"
"I'm not sure. had something to do with me falling again and cracking open my skull basically." at that, he let out a laugh before clamping his mouth shut.
"I apologize, oh my, I'm so sorry." you smiled, remembering how frantic he had been when he first entered the room.
"no need, I fall a lot," you continued, keeping the conversation flowing and trying to get his mind off of his predicament by telling him about your various incidents. eventually, he had grown so comfortable, he began telling stories about himself to you. somehow, yixing joined in the mix and the three of you were easily tossing banters around like old friends.
your bonding time was abruptly cut by the opening of the door. in peeked a head of black curls, a dead giveaway to the captain of the ship. he scanned the room with his large eyes before landing on you and squinting.
"you've been hiding in here all day when I specifically commanded you to meet me on the deck after breakfast?" he had a rough and unnecessarily angry tone to his voice while he stared daggers at you.
"I did go to the deck," you answered simply, your enthusiasm from before washing away with his presence until you felt like a student trapped in a lecture. "then I nearly died and I've been here recuperating."
"you nearly died?" his jaw dropped and his expression contorted into that of confusion mixed with shock. "how does that happen? I've been on deck all day."
"well you weren't there this morning when I left the kitchen." you snapped back, clenching your jaw tighter and tighter the more he spoke to you.
"you're telling me," he pushed the door open fully, stepping in and never taking his eyes off of you. "that in the 5 minutes I went to my quarters to find a hat." he took a large step towards you, standing right at the edge of your bed. "you somehow got into some freak accident that nearly cost your life." he jabbed his finger onto your forehead, causing you to hiss out in pain at the close proximity to your actual cut. for a second, you could've sworn you saw a foreign emotion cross his eyes. remorse perhaps? it was too soon to tell before his stoic expression came back and he turned to yixing. "alright, incident report."
"head fracture," yixing pointed to you, then over to minseok. "pain in my ass."
"real humorous, you good for nothing doctor," minseok huffed out and leaned back into his bed, closing his eyes as if he were about to rest.
"minseok, you're on lookout."
"yes, captain," he begrudgingly stood on his feet before lugging his body out the door and up to the mast. chanyeol turned to yixing, pointing downwards towards the floorboards.
"I need inventory on all of our ammunition."
"sure thing, captain. you've got a bad feeling today?" chanyeol sighed through his nose, arms crossed over his chest and peering out the window.
"I hope my hunch isn't true today." with that, yixing exited the room, leaving you and chanyeol alone. chanyeol remained by the window, eyes darting to and fro over the waves of the ocean, the same ocean which somehow made a pirate go mad. "scale from one to ten, how painful is your injury?"
you hesitated for a moment, trying to process the aching in your crown, but found yourself distracted. you've only been here a day, but you've never seen chanyeol like this. his lips were pursed into a thin line, eyebrows frowned and probably wrinkling his forehead beneath his bangs. what a strange look for a pirate. let alone the fear that was written across his face, but the soft and fluffy curls which rested atop his forehead and nearly hid his large, mahogany tinted eyes. his eyes were rather expressive, like a window displaying everything hidden behind his cold exterior. nonetheless, you had to admit he was undeniabley handsome. almost boyish in a way. you could definitely see yourself falling susceptible to his charms if he were an ordinary customer to your father's saloon. would he have been sweet? gentle? easy going? or would he remain this heartless, assertive dictator who tried to shoot fear into every person's heart?
"I asked you a question, I expect an answer," he spat out, finally turning to face you.
"7," you quickly sputtered as you shook yourself from your thoughts.
"fine, you may stay here until you reach a 6. then find me," he began making his way to the door before halting. "try not to kill yourself this time around, bungler."
your heart collapsed at the familiar sting which followed that damned name. heat rose to your face, your hands trembling as memories of your tainted childhood flashed through your mind. before you could stop yourself, you were on your feet, stomping out the room. you were blinded with a haze of anger, and you knew this wasn't the real you, but you couldn't stop the hand that grabbed at his shoulder and yanked him back to face you.
"listen to me," you seethed, finger jabbing at his chest much like he had done to your forehead a few moments prior. "I can deal with your superiority complex, and I can deal with your useless tasks, but you never, and I mean never, call me that again."
chanyeol was taken aback to put it simply. this was the second time you snapped at him, speaking to him like a mere nuisance rather than the captain he is. the first time it, your outburst rubbed him the wrong way. he was more vexed than he had ever been, and you were supposed to be his slave. this time, it still left him fuming, but with a tinge of something else coinciding with your outburst.
something stirred within the depths of his stomach, like a single match lit in a tundra. his feeble flame sparked into a torch when you sneered at him, a low growl emanating from your chest. with no answer on his part, you pivoted and marched back to the infirmary.
the flame continued to mock chanyeol, tormenting him with thoughts of you and visions of you. it began as general notions about you; what job to give you next, your intentions with his crew, your injury. flashes of you began appearing in his mind. your full locks of hair, the glint in your mischievous eyes. the flush of color across your cheeks the shade of coral, the light freckles dusting over the bridge of your nose. the gentle plump of your lips, the curvature of your thighs. your hands shakily slipping your shirt off, his hands roaming the expanse of skin open to him. him swallowing your moans whilst coaxing you closer and closer to your peak--
shaking his head, he tried to clean his mind of his sinful thoughts, clearly finding himself vulnerable to the only woman on board. yes, he'll decide to blame his train of thoughts on his lack of attention. he made a mental note to visit the brothel once they reach land. they were slowly but surely making their way back to civilization, to recuperate from their long expedition and give them a day off the sea. chanyeol was sure he'd meet his demise to none other than minseok if they don't get off the ship by the end of the week.
a churning in his guts reminded him of his earlier concerns, and he stared out past the horizon, scanning the general vicinity yet seeing nothing out of the blue. his nerves didn't settle.
"are you okay?" the voice of junmyeon sounded behind the conflicted man, breaking him out of his subconscious. "yixing told me you were having that feeling again."
"yeah," chanyeol sighed and leaned against the wooden railing, picking at the stray splinters jutting out of the old work. "I really don't know what to think anymore."
"why's that?" the older man stared out into the ocean, admiring the depth of the blue before him, parallel with the depth of the ocean itself; vast in every aspect. junmyeon always compared himself to the ocean he's submitted his life to, and always finds serenity in the fact that the waters have given him a life of no worries. glancing over at his captain, however, showed the concern deep within his troubled soul. "you've rarely been wrong before. we should be worried about the potential of other pirates nearby."
"you're probably right," the tension in chanyeol's forehead remained as stressed as before. junmyeon pursed his lips and twiddled his fingers.
"is it the girl?" at those words, chanyeol's neck snapped towards the man speaking. "I figure she must be the case because she's the only variance in our day to day life, besides your gut feeling." there was a brief silence that settled between the two, comfortable with only the sounds of the ship cutting through the currents. the mention of your presence brought a fresh shade of scarlet on chanyeol's cheeks as his confusing feelings resurfaced again that day.
"I don't know what I'm feeling," chanyeol explained, planting his forehead on his clasped hands. "I should hate her. she snuck onto my ship, she's yelled back to me; for all I know, she could be turning my men against me right under my nose."
"and yet?" chanyeol turned to look at junmyeon who was giving a knowing grin to him.
"look, I haven't been with a woman in years. that's all this is. just a simple case of loneliness." junmyeon snickered at this, facing the boards of the deck beneath him and shrugging.
"whatever you say, captain." another series of silence made its way between the two as they allowed their conversation to ingrain itself into their memories for safe keeping, away from the ears of the others. junmyeon didn't know much about you, but he did know he's never seen kyungsoo and sehun so happy to be awake at breakfast. you truly were having affect on the others, and he hoped it was for the better.
"captain!" a voice hollered from the top of the mast. the two men looked up, spotting their eldest peering out with his eye buried in a brass monocular. "ship south bound!"
chanyeol whirred around, rushing to the opposite side of the vessel and squinting out where minseok stared. in the distance, there was a small black speck in the otherwise tranquil state of the ocean. his heart sped up at the possibility of his feeling being correct. if so, disaster would present itself to the crew of exo.
"as steady as she goes," he called out to jongin manning the wheel. "let's not go into a frenzy for a potential supply ship."
"I'll keep watching," minseok announced, keeping his watchful eye on the boat. chanyeol, kept staring, trying to spot the two vertical trapezoids on the flag, but having no luck.
"do you think it's bangtan?" junmyeon asked from behind him.
"let's hope not," chanyeol replied, voice solemn in worry. "keep the girl in the infirmary. I don't want her anywhere on deck."
-------
you lied on the bed, humming the same tune over and over again as boredom continued to seep into your being. there wasn't anything to do in the infirmary, absolutely no sources of enjoyment anywhere. at this point, you were willing to go to chanyeol to start working if it weren't for the nonstop pain emanating from your head. you must've had a concussion now from falling off the roof of your restaurant, into the ocean, and on the deck. either that, or you just have the thickest skull in existence. nonetheless, you were determined to stay in bed to avoid chanyeol.
you despised the way he spoke to you. you knew you were suppose to be a slave, that you were supposed to owe him your life since he didn't just let you drown the first time you fell over, but you just couldn't stop hating him.
why did he force his own man to risk his life for yours?
you shook that thought away, continuing to broil away with your anger. you hated how he always wanted to exude dominance over everyone, as if you'd fall victim to his charms instantly. you scoffed internally at that. he really did think you would just succumb to his good looks. curly black hair, piercing obsidian gaze, broad shoulders, tall stature, pouty lips. you could just throw up looking at him. you'd rather be found dead than willingly in the arms of that man.
how inviting his arms looked, though; so secure. his chest must be so comfortable to lie on. he must just exude warmth from how large he is.
the click of the door opening shocked you back into reality, sitting up and staring at the person walking in. you sighed in relief when you were met with the face of junmyeon until you realized the only reason he was here was to send you up to chanyeol.
"I'm not healed yet, so tell chanyeol to mind his own business for the day," you snapped, burying your head into the pillow and facing the wall.
"I'm not here for that." you hesitantly rolled over just as he sat in the chair yixing once sat in. he seemed resolved, yet not exactly at peace. he met your scrutiny with a smile. an understanding and trustworthy smile one would give a friend. that was enough for you to give in and leave him be. "I'm here to keep you company."
"why?" you questioned him, an unnecessarily hostile tone slipping through. to this, he shrugged and began small talk with you. you were still weary of his intentions, yet you proceeded to accept his company.
it felt like time barely passed as you and junmyeon continued to get to know each other. he was very easy going and polite, listened to every word you said and gave thorough and thoughtful replies. somehow in less than an hour, he had become a brother to you. maybe you were trusting him too quickly, but how could you not with how genuine and open he was with you.
giving one last laugh at the story just told to you, you rested your cheek on the feathered pillow beneath you, sinking into its plush comfort. closing your eyes was a grave mistake as a flash of chanyeol appeared in the darkness, a radiant smile he's never given you before somehow perfectly conjured in your psyche like a portrait. this had your eyes shooting open in am instant to see junmyeon still giving soft giggles at his memory.
"why are you here?" you asked again, expecting an answer this time.
"what?" he asked, still delusional and happy from the conversation.
"why did you come here? why are you keeping me comfort? what's your motive?"
"motive? I have no ulterior motives to being here with you," he answered, as always never showing any sign of anger.
"junmyeon, please be honest with me," you mumbled out, voice as soft as possible as if trying not to startle him away. there was a long moment of silence as he analyzed your facade, trying to formulate an answer.
"chanyeol sent me here," he replied before he could stop himself. "he didn't want you on the deck."
"why wouldn't he want me on the deck?" you asked, a sliver of hope piercing its way to you. hope for what, you had no clue. all you knew was you were anticipating his answer.
as junmyeon opened his mouth, a deafening bang echoed through the halls. junmyeon sprung up from his seat, flinging the door open and shutting it. you followed along only to get stopped by the door which was now locked.
"junmyeon?" you called out, hearing the loud commotion from the floor above you.
"stay in here," he ordered. his footsteps faded away as you kept yanking at the door, a useless attempt on your part since it was definitely not opening. another bang, and more clamor following. backing away, you scanned the room for anything useful. you grabbed a small scalpel to pick the lock, but failed for to your lack of knowledge on locksmithing. you tried kicking the door to no avail due to your lack of me strength. at this point, you couldn't feel the pounding in your head from the adrenaline injecting itself into your bloodstream again.
with no other choice, your eyes fell upon the porthole bringing light into your dim predicament.
-------
"what's going on?" junmyeon shouted as he reached the deck, seeing his fellow crew mates running about in a frenzy. easily spotting the giant meters away, he rushed over to him.
"status report?" he asked, spotting the ship from before, but significantly closer.
"it's a royal naval ship of Loicasum," chanyeol explained.
"we're in no man's land, they shouldn't be chasing us."
"I know," chanyeol pulled out his own spyglass and aimed it at the ship. "fuck, it's bangtan."
"bangtan?" junmyeon sputtered out. "how did they get their hands on a naval ship? not only that, the fastest one of that country."
"I haven't the slightest idea." chanyeol ran over to the wheel where a frantic jongin stood. dismissing him, chanyeol took the reigns of the ship and began turning it as quickly as possible. "sehun, jongdae, hoist the main sails."
"what are you doing?" jongin asked, more calm now that he didn't have to control their direction.
"I'm going to lose them."
"how are you going to do that?"
"I do not know. I've never sailed these waters here." jongin choked on his sharp intake of breath, coughing at the words just spoken by their supposedly wise leader. "what are you--"
jongin whipped his head over to the gasping body climbing onto the deck soaking wet.
"(y/n)?" baekhyun ran over to you, hoisting you up into a standing position. "are you alright?"
"I'm fine," you heaved out, breathing erratic while you tried to recuperate from your swim and your climb. you turned your head and spotted an enraged chanyeol steering the ship whilst glaring at you. already knowing him by now, you made your way over to his station.
"how did you fucking get out," he hissed out through gritted teeth, staring ahead of him.
"I crawled out of the porthole and seam over to the ladder on the side of the ship." chanyeol wanted to yell. he wanted to personally lock you in one of the cells of the lower levels to ensure you never get out. he wanted to shield you from the dangers lying outside, yet here you were, sopping wet for the umpteenth time since he first met you and with a head injury just to defy him. he couldn't argue that he thoroughly admired your determination and will. he'd never met a more obtuse, thick headed girl like you, and he never fell for someone as quickly as he had for your soaking form.
"chanyeol, you're headed straight for the Sereno," jongin alerted the stupefied man who quickly turned his head to find he had already sailed his crew into the densely fogged area.
"what is this place?" you asked quietly, an eerie stillness to the atmosphere as if all time had stopped.
"this is the Sereno," jongin explained.
"this isn't Sereno, okay," chanyeol berated, continuing to go through the wall of mist.
"then what is it, chanyeol? because it's really looking a lot like Sereno." jongin rasped out.
"what is Sereno?" you asked again, more weary due to jongin's quick temper. neither of the men spoke, just merely staring out into the abyss. you felt a gentle tug on your arm and stumbled into sehun.
"Sereno is a mythological fog the Spanish say brings evil upon those who enter it." sehun explained briefly. "again, it's mythological. but I have no explanation to why there's just a cloud of fog in the middle of the ocean so suddenly."
"how do you know this?"
"I read a lot of fairy tales, there's not much to do when sailing."
everyone was quiet as chanyeol persisted through the unknown. it was practically night time from how dense the fog was, absorbing all sources of light like a black hole. sehun kept a grip on your elbow, making sure to not lose you to whatever may lurk in here. no one spoke a word, and no one could hear the ship railing them before. the Sereno had saved them from one danger, only to put them into another.
eventually, sharp rocks began sprouting from the murky waters, gradually growing in height and width. you found yourself clinging to sehun as fear began nibbling away at your resolve. you buried your head into his shoulder when the ship abruptly stopped besides one of the towering stones, resembling a watch tower of sorts. appearing from a window in the tower was a man in black cloaks, face obscure from the lack of light.
"where are we?" chanyeol asked the man. he responded to chanyeol in a voice too low for you and sehun to hear from your distance. chanyeol replied back, confusuon apparent in his faded tone. a moment later, chanyeol's silhouette retreated to the center of the deck where you and sehun were, the rest of the crew gathering. "he says we've reached some Isle of something. past this point, there's a land where we can recuperate and restock."
"that sounds great, and we can hide away from bangtan." minseok clapped his hands together, ready to plant his feet on stable ground.
"no, not great," sehun whispered out, causing everyone to turn to him. "this is the Isle of Lusresmo. it's the land of ancestral beings. in books, it's basically Tartarus except these Titans at very much so living."
"are these your stories again?" jongin groaned out.
"yes, they are," sehun sassed out, pulling you closer to him for reassurance. "and I know they're real now that we've gone this far."
"and this is as far as we'll get," chanyeol added. "even if we wanted to face these ancestors, we can't get passed. he says only 'marked ones' may enter."
"oh yes the marked ones," sehun nodded, understanding exactly what chanyeol was talking about. "each ancestor has one emblem which passes down from one descendant to another. they're not necessarily birthmarks since they're actual pictures. they kind of look like tattoos."
"by pictures, can you elaborate?" yixing asked, suddenly very interested in the topic at hand.
"oh it can be really anything, most typically animals, but they can be other things like boats, instruments, weapons."
"okay, that's all I needed," yixing extended his hand out to you, grabbing your bicep and pulling you from sehun's grasp.
"what are you doing?" chanyeol quickly asked, following after you two as yixing stepped up to the cloaked man. he spun you around so you could face him and smiled down at you. his hands reached for your hair and pushed it aside, revealing the back of your neck to the man. a moment of silence passed, tension thick in the air as you waited for a response.
without any sort of warning, the ship pushed forward, continuing it's trek through the dense fog.
