You and Steve were on a secret mission on a tropical island.

After an exhausting day of infiltration and confrontations with the local bad guys, you and Steve decided to take a well-deserved rest on the beach at sunset.

The sun was slowly dropping on the horizon, and at the same time, you were attentive to your surroundings; you didn't want anyone to interrupt your rest. That's when you noticed something on Steve's skin.

“You seem to have a little sunburn; are you all right? You forgot your sunblock again, didn't you?" You asked with concern.

He smiled and nodded, trying to downplay the slight burning on his skin. You shook your head; in the evening, he would be complaining about the burn like last time.

“Wait a moment; I have something that might help you," you said as you reached into your bag.

You pulled out the bottle of sunblock and another special sunburn lotion.

“I think this might help. Would you mind if I applied it?"

He nodded and showed you his back, and you gently began to apply the products. Steve was starting to get nervous as he felt your gentle touch. He tried to distract himself by talking about the mission and some random anecdotes about his life.

With the sun already hidden on the horizon, Steve realized that the sunburn was not the only thing that made him feel hot.

Night fell over the island, and you and Steve continued your conversation under the starlight. I was hoping something else would happen.

PoliZ's Captain Bottom Bingo Masterpost

Managed a blackout plus one on my 3x3 bingo card from @cabottombingo (CABB205) and am finally getting around to my masterpost 😁

Here are all the fics I posted for the @cabottombingo!

I can't believe how many I actually got done! I'd hoped to make a few more full lines, but I was sick in December and January and didn't get as much writing done as I'd hoped.

A3 - "til the end of the line" Soldat i Volkodav (The Fist and The Fang) (steve/bucky, 5k)

Summary:

While on a mission in Canada, the Asset suddenly finds himself free. He follows his partner, the giant wolfhound, because he doesn’t know what else to do. The two end up in the United States, and as his memories begin to return, his need for vengeance grows. Together, they take out hidden HYDRA bases and safehouses across North America. What they find in one base, however, will change everything Bucky ever thought he knew about his time in captivity.

Once Steve is safe at home and on the road to recovery, Bucky takes measures to ensure anyone else will think twice about touching what belongs to Bucky.

Summary:

When Steve decided to try waxing instead of shaving to avoid catching his body hair in the Cap suit, things don't go quite the way he expected. Between misunderstanding the listing on the website and thirsting over the man doing the procedure, he's not sure he'll survive the appointment.

“I’m fine,” Steve insists, promptly coughing right after the words come out.

“Uh-huh.” Bucky stands at the foot of Steve’s bed, arms crossed, with the most unamused look Steve has seen in a while.

“I’m fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine,” Steve tries again, whining this time as he settles back down into his pillows. His chest aches with the sensation of his lungs burning, each breath raspy. He tries to calm his breathing, if only so Bucky would stop looking at him like that.

“Don’t give me that,” Bucky bites, before he turns to leave the room.

Steve doesn’t feel relieved in the slightest – he knows well enough that Bucky doesn't simply leave. Bucky doesn’t give up on insistently trying to make Steve feel better, even though there isn’t anything to be done.

It’s a pattern – a routine. Autumn turns to winter, and Steve turns into a bedridden, miserable, spiteful human. Somehow, there’s always a new cold, a virus, something for Steve to catch. He listens to Bucky’s footsteps around their apartment, puttering about the kitchen apparently, as Steve hears the water run.

His back aches, as it often does, but he dares not move when he’s gone a whole minute without hacking up a lung. He rubs his chest a bit, to see if it would help at all, but his current state leaves him too weak for him to really notice. So, he abandons that idea and just closes his eyes, the soft sounds of Bucky’s rifling in the other room.

He must fall asleep at some point, but not for long, because when he wakes, Bucky is sitting in His Chair, as they’ve affectionately dubbed it, given how often he sits in it watching over Steve.

“Creep,” Steve murmurs, blinking his eyes open.

Bucky scoffs, but there’s a moderate smile as he shakes his head. “One second.”

Steve could be a smart ass, count out exactly one second just to be a shit, but he doesn’t. He waits as Bucky reappears with a bath towel in hand. Steve knows what’s about to happen and given the way his heart speeds up every time, it’s a miracle his arrhythmia hasn’t sent him to the hospital yet.

“Come on, forward now,” Bucky orders, sidling up to the side of the bed, his arm extended for Steve.

With a sigh, Steve resigns himself to what’s to come. He grabs Bucky’s forearm, fingers itching to run over the vein that’s always taunting him, and lets Bucky lift him just a bit, enough to get the warm towel underneath.

And then he’s turned into a giant baby as Bucky closes the cloth up, swaddling him. He’d nearly cracked Bucky’s nose with his elbow the first time, he wasn’t a baby, for crying out loud!

But he’d gotten over it pretty quickly once the warmth had seeped into his skin, like a summer heatwave thawing him out to the very bone.

Steve doesn’t know what Bucky does, if he’s honest. It involves hot water and a bag, from what he can hear, but Bucky doesn’t tell him. He’s content to let Bucky have his magical, wonderful secrets if it produces this Towel of Miracles. Still, Steve’s favourite part isn’t so much that as it is the wrapping part – where Bucky’s arms encircle him, and stay there.

“S’gonna stay warmer if I give it some body heat, too,” Bucky had said to him the first time. Steve didn’t give a damn what the reasoning was. He shivers, arms crossed over his chest, Bucky’s hands clasped in front of him as they lean back and under the thick covers.

Bucky shuffles so that Steve lays a little on his side, relieving his back. Already, Steve is so much more comfortable, layers of protective heat surrounding him.

“Buck, thanks –” Apparently, he’d spoken too soon. He’s launched into another coughing fit, body curling up with the spasms. Bucky stays with him, sitting up as he does, the long line of heat along Steve’s back a constant presence, no matter how gross Steve thinks he’s being and insists he doesn’t mind whatsoever.

But, who wants to hold a coughing, shivering mess of bones?

Still, there Bucky is, arms strong and steadfast around Steve’s tensed, shaking shoulders.

“It’s okay, Stevie,” Bucky murmurs quietly in his decent ear. “M’right here.”

Steve lets the cough work its way through, and Bucky – Christ, Bucky is rubbing his chest. It helps more than Steve could admit – Bucky has the strength to do it properly whereas Steve had failed earlier. It soothes his aching chest, just a tad, though Steve’s not sure if it’s the pressure of Bucky’s hand, or the fact that it’s Bucky’s hand.

“M’okay,” he manages, raspy and shuddering.

“Shhh, rest,” Bucky replies in an almost-whisper. He tugs Steve back down, and Steve doesn’t put up a fight.

Wouldn’t put up a fight, even if he could. He lets himself shift with Bucky’s breaths, feeling each of them across his bum ear, even if he can’t hear them though he wishes he could.

Steve is pretty sure Bucky speaks then – he can feel the ghost of Bucky’s lips along the shell of his ear and the slight rumble of Bucky’s chest along his back.

“Wha –” He turns his head around to try and catch what it was, except –

Except the lips he’d been trying to read are on his.

It feels like a hundred things happen at once. He curses himself for the instant reaction he has, which is to shudder at the unexpected contact. But, how could he not, after yearning for it all these years? Bucky’s lips are even softer than they look, which Steve didn’t think was possible. Steve’s studied them extensively, under the veil of capturing them on canvas, time and time again. He never imagined he’d capture them like this.

He knows he makes some sort of noise, because his chest throbs in protest, and then he feels himself burn up for another reason entirely. Realizing that he’s just – he’s just kissed Bucky sends a flare of fear once he’s gotten over the inevitable shock. He opens his eyes, having no recollection of closing them, and braces himself for the worst of it.

“Buck, I’m so sor…”

The words die on his tongue as he looks into Bucky’s eyes – his blazing, radiant eyes that are looking back at Steve with a mix of awe and something else. Most importantly, he hasn’t pulled away, and he isn’t looking at Steve with disgust. It’s like the world had frozen around him, too.

Steve’s heard people say that life is made of moments and choices. He’s never understood the weight of those words until this very second.

He’d kissed Bucky by accident – a genuine mistake, which resulted in just a brush of their lips. He could leave it there. Bucky would understand, he knew Steve was deaf in that ear.

They could pretend that moment never happened.

Or, Steve could make a choice. A choice to lean forward again, lips parted and inviting, while his shaking hands brace against Bucky’s chest.

Here, he can feel the wild thumping of Bucky’s heart under his palm, and his own heart starts to beat quicker.

This time, he feels Bucky’s breath against his own lips before they kiss on purpose. Bucky’s hands are firm, yet gentle, as they roam up Steve’s side, the cocoon around him falling away and yet he’s just as warm.

Bucky’s palms are searing, even through the fabric of Steve’s shirt, as are his lips that slot between Steve’s perfectly. It feels like heaven, no matter how sinful he’s been told it is. Even though his eyes had slipped close of their own accord, he can feel the prickle of tears in the back.

Kissing Bucky is nirvana, and he would gladly go to hell for it.

He feels Bucky’s large hands come to cradle his face, gentle and sweet as they take their time. His only complaint is that Bucky keeps pulling away, but as he gets a little light headed, he almost laughs.

Of course, Bucky’s still watching for Steve’s breathing, even doing this while Steve isn’t sure he can even think straight. Though, Steve supposes, Bucky does have more experience.

It makes him shy, wondering if Bucky thinks anything about his… lack of practice. He gets over it fairly quickly, though, when Bucky comes back to him, grinning, mirroring Steve’s look.

“Okay, okay,” Bucky eventually relents with a soft chuckle. “Slow down, I don’t wanna the thing that sends you into another fit.”

Steve would protest, if words actually came to him, but all he can do is try to breathe while keeping Bucky close. Lucky for him, Bucky stays exactly where he is, hand running over Steve’s back tenderly, whispering sweet nothings. And even though Steve can only hear bits and pieces, he knows they’re all for him.

Steve Rogers was stunned by the decision you made; you had accepted the invitation to attend a night of ballroom dancing.

It wasn't something he expected, but after all, what could go wrong? You had decided that you needed to improve your skills on the dance floor before the big event. Now Steve felt he was facing the most difficult mission of his entire life: learning to dance with grace and style.

You and Steve found yourselves in a small ballroom, with mirrors lining the walls and soft music in the background, inviting romance. Steve scratched his head nervously as you smiled knowingly.

"Steve, this will be a piece of cake. We just need coordination and a little practice," you said, taking Steve's hand.

You both got into position, waiting for instructions from the dance teacher, who was watching you from across the room. You moved gracefully, as if you had been dancing for years, while Steve looked a little awkward at first.

"Relax, Steve. Let the music guide you," you advised, moving to the melody.

After a few moments, Steve began to feel more comfortable. He followed your instructions and let himself be carried along by the gentle beat of the music. Soon, you were twirling and gliding across the floor with an elegance that surprised Steve to no end; he had never managed to dance like that before.

The dance teacher approached you. "Good, good! You're progressing fast. Now, let's try something a little more complicated," he suggested.

You smiled, ready for the next challenge, while Steve nodded, unconvinced. The teacher began to teach them more elaborate steps and moves that required more synchronization.

As you danced, Steve couldn't help but be amazed at your skill on the dance floor.

After several hours of intense practice, you had done it and were ready.

The night of the party finally arrived, and you surprised everyone with your dancing.
