I think the reason I was able to start identifying with the butch label so easily now in late teenhood/early adulthood was because growing up in an evangelical megachurch, there were a couple butches/masc presenting women that just existed and I looked up to (even if it was in secret)

I'm sure these people went through a lot whether it be internalized stuff or figuring out your place in a homophobic/transphobic church while presenting non-conforming, I admire them for sticking to what made them happy.

Even though I deconstructed in my teens and am no longer a part of the church, I admire these people, whether or not they're still believers or in the church anymore. Having that kind of representation in my life made finding myself so much simpler than a lot of other people have to go through.

This is why presentation matters, whether it be in media or real life, seeing people like yourself, helps and grows a person.

If you need that push to start bravely being yourself, this is that call, cuz you will be a person people look up to, relate to and have comfort in when their having a hard time understanding themselves, even if you don't know it,

just existing can help <3

Sometimes, the lack of butch readers bothers me.

Reading fanfiction is my only way to escape this cruel world. So I think that you can understand my frustration when I can barely find any butch/ non gender specific readers. It really bothers me when the reader is always in dresses/skirts and make-up and it makes me feel like shit.

Ofcourse, I am not saying that femme readers are bad. I never will either. Only sometimes I just wish that I could find a fanfic that I can relate to.

There are however writers who are beyond this world and make the most beautiful pieces that I can relate to and I am very grateful for that.

But yeah, I'm disappointed and I'm not sorry.
