My absolute favorite ALOTO scene, Although I know there are a lot more profound scenes such as the club scene or Jo’s home run but I absolutely love the shift in dynamic and camaraderie here.

We started off with Esti wishing for a friend in Lupe and being all but rejected and left in the dust to them gaining an understanding a friendship, one that gives them the opportunity to not only show solidarity but use something they both have in common to win.

I love the dynamic of their identities because with Jess it’s like woah there’s definitely some gender happening there and it feels very heavy with them (the charm school scene) like they’re clearly very aware and going through something (the pants, binding, peeing??) but then there’s Lupe who gives “I’m just a girl” (the Gender Spiral Roberta interview) like yeah she’s wearing pants but guys that is a girl! and meanwhile this is them 🧍🏻🧍🏼
