Prompt: ”I’m scared.”

Takeru curled up next to Yamato and Yamato put an arm around him.

”I’m scared”, Takeru whispered.

Lightning flashed across the sky, thunder roared. I’m scared too, Yamato wanted to say. But he couldn’t. He needed to be brave, Takeru’s rock. Needed to be a good brother. Or else mom and dad might start fighting again.

”I know it looks scary, but lots of things that look scary aren’t”, he said. ”Like that bug you found yesterday!”

A bug was far from the same thing as lightning though. Another flash crossed the sky and Yamato supressed the need to flinch. Takeru did instead, pressed harder into Yamato’s side. Yamato lifted him into his lap. Part of him wanted to suggest they hid in the wardrobe. He pushed that part as far away as possible.

”Why is the sky angry?” Takeru asked.

Yamato didn’t know. He raked his brain to find what he had done to wrong the sky, but nothing came up.

”Maybe….” he started and tried to think something up on the spot. ”...maybe there’s just been too much work for it lately. Like how it is for dad sometimes.”

Thunder roared again. Takeru gripped Yamato’s shirt and pressed his face against Yamato’s chest. Yamato watched the rain run down the window.

”He’s not angry at us, just very loud”, Yamato said.

He wished he could believe his own words. Takeru seemed to calm down a bit though, the tight grip around Yamato’s shirt loosened. Yamato lifted a hand to his cheek. The bruise had disappeared, but the pain was still fresh in his memory. He swallowed and hugged Takeru.

”He could never be angry at you”, he whispered.

”Is the sky angry at you?” Takeru asked.

Yamato blinked. Shook his head.

”Maybe it is”, he said. ”Maybe it’s angry I’m holding you in here instead of letting you go out and greet it.”

Takeru looked at him. Yamato did his best to grin and Takeru laughed. Settled more comfortable in Yamato’s lap and looked through the window. Yamato did as well, tried to keep the memories of dad’s hand and the pain away. Takeru leaned his head back and looked at Yamato.

”You’ll always protect me when it’s angry, won’t you?”

Yamato wasn’t sure what they were talking about any longer, but he knew one thing. He ruffled Takeru’s hair and gave him another hug.

”I’ll always protect you.”

Something big is happening in Empires & Hermitcraft. Let's discuss! Specifically, Grian, Smallishbeans, LDshadowlady and Fwhip's episodes the week of October 9, 2022. I've clipped all the relevant scenes down below. I'm very interested in corrections and commentary!

[Note: They all ended their episodes at a portal with weird stuff happening, so if you're looking to check videos for rift lore, maybe skip to the ends.]

- October 9 - Grian finds a button in front of his Hermitcraft rift. It says "Begin?" Grumbot[1]  gives him a message that says "Push the button". He tries not to, but eventually gives in. (This is typical Grian behavior.)  (HC 9: Ep 23)

- October 11 - Lizzie finds a portal on Empires that bears some suspicious resemblance to Grian's rift. Hoping she might get crystals, she sends a fox named Gary through on a minecart to investigate, and bring back "lots of crystals, the shinier the better". They hit the portal, Gary goes through, the minecart doesn't. (Is Gary a modded villager? That's lizzie's thing?) (Empires s2, Ep 11)

- October 13 

(1) Joel spies the portal from his bridge, having heard about it already. He says he'll send something through because Lizzie already did. He sends one of his Jimmy dolls - it's important to remember the doll is named "Smallishbeans's Head". There's no minecart, he just chucks it in.  (Empires s2, ep 19) (2) Fwhip hears an explosion and finds the portal, decides to not engage with any of it. Later, Lizzie comes to Fwhip for help rescuing Gary, and they send Fwhip's creature, "Sniff, Explorer of the Deep", through the portal on a minecart to get Gary. I have no idea what kind of creature Sniff is. Some modded goblin horse I get. Snort's older brother. idk. (Empires S2 : Building a GOBLIN LAVA FORGE, because he can't be bothered to use episode numbers I guess?)

Maybe it's not Grian's rift, maybe Hermitcraft and Empires aren't connected, but that would be WILD. If you don't know, Grian is IRL friends with Lizzie and Joel, so them collaborating makes a lot of sense. Sausage is having big flashbacks to Empires s1 and Afterlife SMP. Gem and FalseSymmetry are in both Empires & Hermitcraft, and False's plot is about having woken up in a strange place. Pearl is in Hermitcraft, and was in Empires s1, and there's deep lore about her that I'm not caught up on, but she already exists between series, she sent Oli (theorionsound) from Afterlife SMP to Empires season 2, from her base in the sky. She's been Watching everything! She's a Saint? A Goddess? (I am going to catch up, I only finished emp1 this month.) And I'm told her afterlife/empires sky base is her hermitcraft s8 base. 

The Jimmy toy looks like Jimmy and has Joel's name. Their Double Life soulmates are in Hermitcraft. I saw a comic once that had Tango finding a Jimmy doll and it feeling familiar. Thus, I am now insane and will be at least until empires s2 is over, probably forever.

Joel transcript, at 13:26 - Joel spies the portal. "and whilst we're here, look at that. that's lore right there. weird lore stuff's happening on the server guys. what is it? I don't know. But I saw that Lizzie put something in it, so we should go put something in it as well. So what better than this little toy man here? Well, the toy version of the toy man. Have fun little toy-- oh, it's missed. Let's try again." [toy name says "Smallishbeans's Head"] "Have fun little toy man! And just like that, he's gone. I hope he's okay, but if he's not okay, then that's fine as well to be honest.

11:57 - Fwhip says Jimmy is toying with his heart. </3

12:00 - Fwhip hears an explosion. "What? Bridge? What is (x3) that? I'm sorry but this is brand new. How did this pop up here out of the wall? [confused goblin noises] You know what, if I've learned anything being underground in the goblin cavern it's don't dig where you're not supposed to be digging. I'm going to be leaving that as if I've never saw it [things about copper and cave safety] spooky things are happening". 

15:30 - (too long to transcribe) Lizzie blows the emergency horn, says there's a situation with Gary, the greatest explorer who ever lived in Animalia. She's upset that Gary hasn't come back, Fwhip tells her that he heard an explosion earlier, Lizzie is more upset, wants a rescue mission. Fwhip says his empire's greatest explorer, "Sniff, Explorer of the Deep" has just returned home, [they laugh heartily]. Lizzie takes Fwhip and Sniff to the "crystal cave". Fwhip says maybe Gary did the explosion. Lizzie says Gary had a very specific mission (get crystals) and he'd never stray from the mission protocols. They tell Sniff to find and bring back Gary. Sniff spins around a lot, because he's excited for a job. They put him on a minecart, Lizzie makes a Harry Potter reference (which she and Joel do all the time), and the episode cuts right there, no outro.

[1] Grumbot is... in HC s7 Grian and Mumbo he made a robot son to help Mumbo win the mayoral election, then they lied to him and sai that he won, and put him in a (nice) box. Now there's a grumbot here and maybe he's from an AU and he says creepy things like "My Grian was sorry too" and I've only watched bits of all this.

"Where did the inspiration to create him come from?"

Well, I actually didn't inspire myself on other stuff to create him at all! I just had the idea in my head and I thought it would be really cool to develop it into a full AU.

"He goes only by Insane-ler or can I call him something else?"

Actually Insane-ler is a nickname one of his brothers called him once to insult him, but he kinda doesn't mind being called that, it fits his current mental state right now.

Although, don't call him Oncie, he hates it, really. Beanpole is kinda okay tho, but preferebly don't call him that.

Y'all can call him just Onceler or maybe even just Once or Ler, also Insey for short of Insane-ler :>

"What kind of mental problems does he have?"

He doesn't have any specific mental disorders, but he is indeed very unstable and crazy. Some words might trigger his rage and make him have some crises (like Oncie, as I mentioned), so be careful what you're gonna ask him, or else.... >:)

Music Monday and a WIP!!

Was tagged by @adelaidedrubman to share a song and some in progress shit!! Thank you!! Here's a little slice of the fic where Anabel and Raphael seal their contract with a bit more than a signature, and the song I named it after.

"[...] I'll be seeing you. And when I do– we dine!"

He says this last part with an air of premature victory, a wide smile on his face. But Anabel is not smiling. She crosses her arms and glares at him in silence, and his expression changes to that of confusion.

"What?" He asks. "What's the matter with you? Aren't you happy with the deal, topolina?"

Her eyes shoot open at the usage of such a name– he'd called her little mouse plenty of times before, but never in another language, never in such a…pet name kind of way. It makes her feel as if she's melting.

"I am very happy with the deal," Anabel retorts, hands on her hips, "I just…you asked me to meet you here of all places. Why?"

Raphael gets that mischievous look on his face. "What do you mean? A room at a hotel, or rather, a brothel? A room with a bed big enough for much more than just two? A nice, warm bathtub, with petals trailing up the steps, petals that happen to be the same color as your sweet lips?"

Anabel's mouth drops open in shock. Her heart is no longer beating a million miles a second– it's still in her chest, like she's been defibrillated. 

"I…I don't…" She stammers, unable to move a muscle.

"You don't what?" Raphael asks, stepping closer to her, so close that she can smell his heavy cologne– cherries, musk, palmarosa, black pepper, and even the scents of Avernus it attempts to cover up.

"Come now, dear Anabel, you aren't just a clueless little ditz. You know how I feel about you. You'd have to be a fool not to."

Anabel smiles and bats her lashes. "I do…but it would be nice to hear you say it."

Raphael smiles back at her and places one hand on her back, pulling her even closer. Their chests are pressed together, and Anabel fears he can feel her once more tachycardic pulse through her skin. His free hand reaches for her face, brushing a thumb over her lower lip, and his fingers tuck strands of hair behind her ear.

"Wouldn't you rather I show you?" Raphael asks, tilting his head, "topolina?"

on the subject of people sending in kinfessions for popular sources, but ceasing when the popularity fades: yeah, I noticed that tends to happen! however, I don't want to assume it's because people are faking kintypes or fictives... I won't get into the system stuff because I'm not a system, but here's some thoughts on this general situation!

so for me personally, I tend to get into a huge kin shift when I discover a new kintype! that often results in me sending lotsa kinfessions about it (as I have recently X3) and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case for others as well! so maybe a big reason for the above phenomenon is loads of people discovering new kintypes & getting all caught up in the excitement and wanting to talk about it!

as for the hype dying down a bit... maybe folks are just running out of excitement! they've sent in all the kinfessions they wanted, gotten to talk about everything on their mind, so now they get to relax without the hype of a brand new kintype. just because folks aren't sending in kinfessions anymore doesn't mean they're suddenly not kin!

or maybe for a few people they made a mistake! maybe they thought they were from one source but they're actually from another (a situation I'm quite familiar with) or maybe they got their interests confused with kin stuff (fair) or maybe some other third thing! I believe most of us have the best intentions and it would be very silly to pretend to be kin Just to send in a couple anonymous kinfessions while the source is popular. what do you gain from that?! heheh

there's a lotta folks round here who have "old" and "unpopular" sources (isn't there an obscurekin tag? I may be misremembering) and I feel like making such a general statement about popular sources kinda disregards a lot of stuff! I'm running out of thoughts...

but I think we're doing alright. as long as we're not hurting anyone we're pretty good.

🌿Doll's Eyes

This is the poison of unchecked vices. You slip into hallucinations. You are wracked with convulsions. The delirium threatens to overwhelm you. What are you running from? Each vice brings new consequences, and the price of escape seems too great, and yet you cannot seem to face things head on. You wanted to get him something that would be meaningful and precious to him

What you had in your hands right now, you dont know if it was but it would mean so much to you if he would accept it

Meanwhile he entered the room that both of you share

You close your hand to hide it

He sees and asks: "what's in your hand?"

"Really, its nothing" you insisted

Hes not taking no for an answer

Plus he knew you were hiding something

He wasnt getting nowhere so he wrestled you and pinned you down, with such ease

He was starting to feel irritated

With a small voice, and a smile smile you replied with...

The look on his face was priceless

Hello! I heard you were wanting requests for lee!Mooncake and I've been wanting to request people exactly that, so so SO! Mmmm I'm nervous but I like the idea of maybeee a fanfic with the Glamrocks ganging up on him and tickling the heck out of him as like, a punishment or something 8DDDD Also! Okay I wanna acknowledge this one just so I don't forget. I'll probably put it under a new tag, like ideas, so I can go back and use it once I clear up my drafts- I already have a couple of stories in my drafts and don't want to start too many new stories before I do those X3 So feel free to send more, even if I don't do it immediately I will be able to keep better track of it then.

That being said, your first idea honestly made me think of some headcanons that hopefully you'll like ^^

I can see Freddy calling like a team meeting, besides for human staff of course, and only vaguely said that it was in regard to the daycare attendants. Moon was immediately nervous but couldn't think of anything he did wrong. Time of the meeting comes up, and Freddy immediately clarifies that they aren't in trouble, they just heard a lot of sounds while passing by the daycare and were worried about if they were alright.

Sun immediately knew what he was referring to when he described it as "squeaky", and before Moon could come up with an excuse Sun just said "Oh, I was just tickling Moon." And Moon didn't know whether or not he wanted to kill Sun or sink into the floor out of embarrassment. The reactions varied: Roxy and Monty were in the camp of "Wait, you're ticklish?" Monty found it hilarious for one of the higher level security bots to be ticklish of all things, and Roxy was just massively confused. Either way it ended with both of them teasing him, and Monty probably picking him up to poke him. Sun helpfully supplied that he is ticklish to make the kids less scared of him, to the point where he's way more sensitive then Sun, and his laugh involves squeaks.

Hearing that, Chica got massively excited finding that idea adorable. Freddy and Chica were generally in the boat of "That's insanely adorable". Of course they wanted to respect his privacy and so weren't as nosy as the others, but they did find it really cute which somehow was worse because he hates being called cute.

I know you’re probably sick of hearing this but you’re the only one I could think to bring this to. Constructive criticism would be great, if that’s what the people who constantly complain about these shows would do. Although I have a special brand of confusion for why they choose to post it in the main tag and cite that not enough people are bringing up the problem. I don’t know rando on the internet, but you are in fact clogging the whole tag with your inane complaints. If you’re this mad about narrative consistency for shows that are just beginning, please never watch any old classic cartoons. The narrative was rarely ever consistent and people still loved them. If you’re mad about poor animation? Clearly you never sat through season five of yugioh or saw any mistakes that occurred in like, idk, the rugrats? Looney Toons? And those were done by bigger studios.

Clarifying that you in this situation are the critics. Idk I’m just sort of tired of going into the tags and seeing only them there, while they whine that no one thinks of these things. Sure I could and will block them, but they need to realize that they not only overtake the tags with their bs but they are to ones that constantly post and are making people like me who are happy to constructively critique about ready to say that the show does nothing wrong out of pure spite.

Also, they really need to stop spreading rumors. Everything I keep looking up has either an apology or it never happened. God forbid they ever get this attention in their own lives.

Seriously, I'm tired of seeing them in the main tag. Plus, they just say the most bs things. I'm so sick and tired of them cherry-picking "flaws" (some real, a huge majority aren't) from the pilot like they're legit complaints. All they're doing is stating the obvious or making shit up.

"Hazbin Hotel has very little world-building," yeah...It's almost like there's one episode. If only there was a second show like a spin-off that explores the world of Hazbin through different eyes. Man...if only x3

"Charlie doesn't seem like a good friend," the fuck did you get that from. The instances when Vaggie got pushed around, which were done for solely a gag and showing that Alastor is okay with pissing anyone off? Okay...maybe that will change with further episodes.

"The characters aren't acting like their decades," they may not overtly act like it, but it's there, very obviously. Plus, again, they have adapted with times. Hell, even Pentious learned how to use a phone AND is trying to learn modern slang. So, again, what's your point? Is that bad? Is it bad that we don't hear them constantly referencing their time period or are talking normal people and not caricatures?

I'm at point where I think they just wanted a 30min PowerPoint presentation because that's the only way they'll get fully what they want.

A pilot is a pitch. It's sole purpose is to introduce the concept of the show in hopes that it gets picked up by a production company. Hazbin did. Its pilot did its job. What more do you want?

Hello, friend! And I am here to answer your questions! I like questions, so thank you for the ask~! X3

What's a tag you never want to use for your works even when it applies?

Honestly, I'm not sure about this one. Mainly because I try to tag my work with all of the appropriate tags. One, so it can be found more easily. And two, so people know what they're getting into and can determine whether or not its okay for them to read. I take mental health very seriously, and I would hate for my work to trigger someone because I didn't tag a specific theme. And since my writing encompasses a lot of emotion, trauma, and other very deep concepts, the potential for someone to feel unnerved or become upset by it increases. I write so people can escape and enjoy; I don't write to take them back to the past or throttle them full force into a present they need a break from. :3

What would you describe as OOC?

Okay, so, I'm a little weird when it comes to what is and isn't OOC. Like, you see some people say, 'Oh, that character/this character would never say that/do that! You have to write what that character would say for it to be believable! Otherwise, that's OOC!' But, in my eyes, I think any character can say or do something that's 'out of the norm'. It depends on the situation, what that character is feeling in the moment, and what they've experienced.

Also, being a bit OOC can be a good thing. It can mean character development. There are obvious displays of a character being OOC in many works and even canon because of inconsistent writing, but I get a little chuckle out of things like that as long as they're silly and not completely taking that character's specific morality and chucking it out the second story window yelling, 'INCONVENIENT!'. I mean, hell, look at Fane. He can be angry in one breath, but can be completely calm about the same thing depending on the situation. People are emotional creatures, in or out of fiction. They all process things in their own way, and to say they wouldn't react a certain way because canon may not show us that? That's not how emotional responses work.

I cannot predict the length of my fics. That's the reason why I can never seem to finish a fic anymore. When I sit down to write, I'm mostly doing it nowadays to relax and escape to a better situation in my head. I just jump into a document and start jotting things down. Later, I go back and flesh it out, but then it grows. So, ending something that brings a smile to my face, that I find immense comfort in is...hard. I have a fifteen page document right now with just Fane and Solas going back and forth about any topic that pops up in my mind. It flits back and forth and there's no real build, but that makes the whole thing more natural to me. Conversations aren't structured; people jump between topics. And that’s what Fane and Solas end up doing in most of my unfinished works. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! :3

I'd like to finally finish a work again, (mainly my main fic. FFFF-!), to share a lot of ideas that I’ve had for years, but as of right now, I'm content to just...write. Write something silly, with no worry about how the dialogue flows or where exactly they are. Write something deep and emotional to help me work through some of my own problems. 

I just want to write. If that means I write a thousand different scenarios that end up being thousands of pages long of Fane and Solas being flipping dorks, then so be it. It makes me happy, and that’s the point. X3
