Probably asks if you want to make some with him so you two can try it out and see how it goes; ends up being pretty fun!

After making sure they tasted okay, you told him about the pocky game and it had him curious, he asks you to tell him more

After your explanation, he smiles kindly and asks if you want to play it

You both bite your respective ends and muffle a “three..two..one!” Thus, the race begins

As you almost reached the halfway mark, Trey took a big bite and beat you to it, looking at you with a mischievous gaze

Your pouting only made him feel more accomplished, and he quickly agreed to a rematch

You put a piece of pocky between you both and continue the rematch

This time he got as close as he could before pulling back suddenly and laughing a bit, saying you won

Every turn after is a mixed bag of reactions from him, but he definitely keeps you on your toes

That said, he did get kind of curious when you explained it to him

Then no one moves- you both just stare at each other while holding pocky between

You decide you'll go for the kill, but figure out you actually can't move

Ruggie laughs at your puzzled expression

He uses his unique magic to just make you give him the stick of pocky and he eats it quickly before you could do anything

Pecks your lips before getting up and leaving with the rest of the pocky

You ask if he's ever had pocky, to which he says he's heard of it but never had it

You then make a terrible mistake by asking it he wants to try it by playing the pocky game

You have his curiosity, so he asks you to explain the roles; he listens intently with a calm smile

He requests that you demonstrate what you're meant to do, his smile grew as if he was talking about his beloved mushrooms

You go ahead and set the game up between you two

You start taking slow bites towards the center, but notice that Jade's not moving at all

He stayed like that for a bit longer, just watching you chew closer and closer

At some point, he puts his head on your chin and gently pull you closer, giving you a short kiss

He smiles innocently when you pull away, saying he thought it was an interesting game and that you two should play more

Sits silently like a menace as he "innocently" watches you stumble over yourself

You both sat under a tree, his head laying on your lap as you both shared a box of pocky

You asked him to just hold one in his mouth, so he did while looking at you with curiosity

He lowkey got flustered when you leaned closer and ate at the pocky, he almost choked on it, but he kept in that position

You made it to his lips and kissed him sweetly, he returned the gesture but was a bit confused on your approach with it

You told him he should have more time to just be, and not have to worry about satisfying people

He was slightly embarrassed about being called out, but he let you take care of him a bit more afterwards

He was on board as soon as you mentioned that there was a game

No hesitation, he put a pocky in his mouth without even hearing the rules

When you asked if he wanted to know them, he shook his head and stared at you expectantly

He watched as you started to eat the pocky, but he didn't move

When you were about to touch his lips you pulled back, which confused him

You laughed at his thoughtful reaction and proclaimed victory, making him think even more

In the end he just laughed and congratulated you for your victory

Endless praises as he asks in a chivalrous way for a rematch, which you accept

It essentially was the same as the first round, which made you feel a bit bad since in your mind he clearly didn't understand the rules

Head went empty when he pulled you into a kiss before you were able to back away, though

He noticed you always talk about pocky with Idia, so he found a way to make some for you!

Brought out his (slightly burnt) homemade pocky sticks during one of your binge nights with him and his brother

You ate them regardless of their faults, but felt a bit bad that Ortho couldn't indulge in his creation too

So you asked him and Idia if they wanted to play a game with the pocky!

Idia was a bit on the fence but asked for you to explain the rules

You distributed an even amount of pocky to each of you, saying that whoever makes the best creation (via Magicam poll) with the limited amount of pocky in 30 minutes wins

Both brothers seemed interested, so you set the timer and all of you rushed to stack pocky pieces

It wasn't the easiest, since pocky didn't exactly like to stay in the positions you put it, but you gave it your all

Ortho had the advantage, as he could use a small laser to melt the chocolate enough to stick them together

Magicam agreed, as Ortho's cute little pocky cabin got majority of the votes

He was incredibly curious about pocky since it's not something he's experienced

In all his travels, never once had he heard of it, so trying the snack from your world was something he was very invested about

Especially with how much you seemed to gush about it

As you pulled a box out and toward him, he noticed a cute slyness twinkle in your eyes, and you mentioned a game

He asked for the rules, so he knew what he was getting into; it was inevitable that he'd accept the challenge

He made sure to run his fingers over your scalp and behind your ear, attempting to fluster you as you took your positions

Otherwise he played fair for the round

Playing fair doesn't mean going easy, he gave it his all and it payed off

He won and gave you a celebratory kiss

Ohhh yeah I have a few. Thanks for your patience, I wanted to respond to this when I could sit and think and type everything out on my computer, not on my phone. Normal HCs at the top, spicy stuff below the cut.

Matt

Okay so I had this friend in highschool who was beyond disgusted by peanut butter, no allergy just totally hated the stuff. Like wouldn't kiss his girlfriend if she'd eaten it recently. I feel like Matt has an extreme food ick like this. Def not peanut butter but something like olive oil maybe? With his sensitive senses he gags when he even gets a whiff of whatever it is.

Speaking of peanut butter, I think it's a food staple of Matt's. The man can't take care of himself, so cooking full meals is just not a thing for him. So 2AM, back from patrol and he needs something to eat. Matt just eats PB straight out of the jar with a spoon like I did for meals in college.

Frank

Loves karaoke. Well, used to when he lived a more normal life. I don't think he sings amazingly well, but he doesn't care. He plays guitar obviously and Col. Shoonover mentioned his impressions skills, so that all concludes me to the fact the Frank likes to sing. He sings to himself/along with the radio when he's driving by himself between jobs. A lot of John Denver and Elton John.

For a holiday/birthday/anniversary gift one year he absolutely recorded Maria a CD of him playing and singing a few of her favorite songs. He'd probably do the same for you too if you were dating.

Bucky

Has a bit of a video game addiction. He was so fascinated by Stark tech at the fair, that I imagine he loves learning about everything that has come along since, but really got hooked on video games. I'm thinking your standard XBOX, Nintendo or Playstation games like the MLB/Baseball game and the Mario collection. Not big on first person shooter games like Call of Duty cause he's lived it obviously. But he can literally spend hours playing like FIFA or something. Absolutely gets on live to play with Sam, AJ, and Cass all the time.

Is really touchy during sex and also not during sex. Since the visual stimulation of sex obviously isn't there for him, he makes up for it by always having to be pressed against you fully or by having hands roaming and groping everywhere.

But also not during sex he's always grounding himself to you by being pressed as close to you as possible. Only time he isn't is when he's in a Matty Mood™ and feels like he doesn't deserve you or you deserve better or whatever Catholic guilt BS he tells himself. He gets over it eventually.

I feel like he likes really intimate sex but also is really playful during it as well. We saw a glimpse of this in She Hulk but I also think his just generally flirty demeanor hints at this. I'm talking like does things to make you giggle in the middle of sex.

Man also has a bit of a breeding kink. He's absolutely not ready to be a parent because his life is in shambles and as much as he loved his dad, he did not have good parental examples in his life, but regardless of his partner's gender or bodily anatomy, he likes the idea of filling you up, knocking you up and having that claim on you. I'm again blaming the Catholicism somehow.

Frank

The eye contact during sex!!!! Dude lost his whole family so anything good in his life he is afraid is going to slip away so he treasures it and takes it all in. We saw this during S2 with Beth but yeah, big guy just loves to watch every facial expression you make during sex.

He's also just really tender in bed. He's not big on kink stuff but will try it if you want but just wants to feel really connected during sex. He's mostly serious in bed but in a really beautiful and intimate way.

Mostly groans and grunts but loves to thrown in a "c'mon baby girl/boy" and begs for "just one more for me"

Bucky

I wrote a whole spiel about my Bucky bedroom hcs, but here's some more.

Of the three, I feel like Bucky is most playful and open to new things in bed. I don't think any of them are open to a full on Daddy kink, dom-sub kind of play but Bucky is the most likely to lean into elements and try things. After his time being under someone else's control I think he likes to feel a little in control, especially of his own body and sex life. But again, not fully into that type of dynamic. Like he might like to boss you around a little or call you dirty names in bed. Afterall, 1940s Bucky was a total flirt and very smooth with the ladies, so it stands to reason in bed he'd still bring some of that out.

Secretly thinks it's kinda hot when you speak Spanish. The rolling r's just do something to him. While he's absolutely not gonna try to learn it, he ends up picking up a thing or two just from hearing you and the context of the situation. Can't speak it to save his life, though. Still, he makes fun of your language all the time.

"What, you forgot English already?"

Also, he's like, terrible with self care. Not as bad as Ben, but still pretty bad. Doesn't shower for days and hates drinking water. You'll have to threaten him with a chancla to get him to actually take some care of himself.

Will actually be really happy if you make him Hispanic food. Not only does it taste good, but you made it for him because you care about him, and that means the world. He can't handle spicy stuff though, so be careful.

Not too bad in general when it comes to taking care of himself, but he does just... Forget to eat. All the time. He will just suddenly get light headed and remember he hasn't eaten a bite of food in the last 3-4 days. Another one who loves if you make him Hispanic food, but unlike Ben, he likes his shit extra spicy. Probably one of the only creeps who will try to learn Spanish to understand you better, even if you're fluent in English.

"H-hola, Y/N. Como- como estás?"

"Estoy bien, pero no necessitas hablar conmigo en español, chulo."

Yes, you call him "chulo". He will also listen to the music and just try to learn more of the culture in general to make you feel more welcome. Overall, genuinely puts in an effort in taking better care of himself so you don't have to worry about him as much.

I'd be surprised if he didn't know Spanish already, which was probably a bit of a shock to you, but a good one nonetheless. He's not normally into gossip, but there's something extremely funny about talking shit about someone while they're right there and they have no idea what you're saying.

You won't have to worry about him much, he takes basic care of himself unlike most of the others. If anything, he's scolding rhe others WITH you. You're basically the parents of everyone else at this point.

Has the biggest fucking crush on you and will forever be mad about it. I said this in the ideal S/O post - he needs someone who gives him shit but also looks out for him and the others. Hello! Welcome back :> I wasn't sure if you wanted general HCs or romantic ones, so I did both! I hope they're enjoyable! In regards to these HCs, there's one mention of drugs, but the HCs are about Valeria, so that's to be expected!

Also, to anyone reading this: Merry Christmas and/or happy holidays! I'm saying this today because in my country we celebrate Christmas today and not on the 25th! I'm wishing you all a few lovely days ahead :-)

General:

Playing games of any kind with her is actually infuriating and almost unfair. You’d think games like Monopoly would be fair since it’s based on luck for the most part, but no. I can assure you Valeria could set a world record on beating someone at Monopoly. But it’s not just that game either. You wanna poker with her? Tycoon? Sixty-Six? Granted, they require some skill as well, but she uses her nogging on a daily basis, so it’s not like she doesn’t know what she’s doing. And even if you only explained the rules to her once, she’ll beat you soon enough. Might also be prone to cheating, but you’ll only ever accuse her of doing so whenever she actually wasn’t. It’s not illegal or forbidden if no one ever finds out. The stakes can be pretty high, she’s not afraid to play for money either. But I advise you to maybe play over gummy bears or lollipops or something. She won’t be happy, she will complain, but it beats losing all your money to a businesswoman of her caliber.

When she was a kid she actually didn’t mind Christmas all that much, she quite liked it. It was colorful, it was bright, it was nice. Her parents may not have been the richest people, but she usually got what she wanted for Christmas as well, so it wasn’t a particularly sad time for her back then. Even now her cartel is doing well during that time since people like to fill the gaping holes within their hearts with drugs so they won’t have to think about being alone and freezing during such a festive time. She doesn’t get jolly like she used to, she won’t even wear a Christmas hat, but she can appreciate Christmas, if just for her earning a bit more money than she normally would. You can even give her gifts during this time. Depending on who they’re from and what it is, she might just throw them away, but if it’s something nice from someone she’s close with then she might just keep it for a little while longer. Although Valeria would never admit it, she does like cookies quite a lot. She can’t bake particularly well, not that she has the time for that either, but that won’t stop her from eating a few whenever she receives some from a trustworthy source. There is an elderly lady in Las Almas who she likes to buy them from occasionally. That lady is a real sweetheart, so Valeria is sure the cookies aren’t poisoned.

No one ever gets to enjoy it anymore these days, but Valeria can cook pretty well. She learned how to very early on so she could relieve her mother a bit from her burdens, but it stuck with her. She has a real knack for how much spice you put in which dish. Yes, she’s a bit rusty since she hasn’t cooked for herself in quite a while, but if you’re her s/o and you’re sick, you might just receive some birria or carne guisada. It’ll be unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. Her food is a bit spicy, so if you’re not used to spicy food it can and will leave you teary eyed, but it’s really good. Naturally, her specialties include, for the most part, Mexican dishes only. But, in theory, you could give her any recipe and it would turn out just fine. Except for anything sweet. Sweets she cannot do at all, they’ll always turn out terrible. It used to get to her when she was young, but these days she couldn’t care less. She isn’t anyone’s housewife, so why should she care? Back in the day when she still had time for dating someone properly, a telltale sign she was mad at you would be her cooking for you, but making it unbearably spicy. Valeria could always eat it, she can eat any spicy pepper as a snack just like that and not be bothered at all.

Romantic:

It doesn’t matter who you are, Valeria will always be the dominant person among the two of you. Her personality alone won’t allow for much else, but there are also other circumstances as well. Besides, she’s been in the military and she can tell you from experience that the people there don’t think too highly of women. Ergo she wants to prove herself to be above those morons, especially Alejandro. While she might not be affectionate at all in public, it’s the small things in private that really show you who’s in control. Beckoning you closer with her finger, telling you how much of a good thing you are for her, moving you a bit so she can get to something she needs. Granted, it’s nothing big, she won’t put a collar on you, but she will do what she can to make you feel smaller than you actually are. It doesn’t matter if you’re 1,50m or 2m tall, whether you’re looking up at her or down on her, you will treat her with utmost respect. While she might seem degrading or mocking very often, she does take your feelings into account as well. If her being mean to you genuinely hurts you then she will do what she can to tone it down a bit. She won’t stop entirely, but she’ll better herself. You’re welcome to sass her back a bit, though. If it’s just some light joking around she won’t mind. Sass her back too hard and you will be put into place, though.

Going off of one of the previous points I made: Once Valeria loves you, she is completely and entirely committed to you. It doesn’t matter what you want, you’ll get it within days. You want someone’s head? Absolutely, no questions asked. Even something smaller, such as some clothing, jewelry, a video game console, a plushie. You name it, you’ll get it. You’re her everything in this rotten world, of course she’ll do what she can to keep you happy. And if one of those goons from the army ever tries to hurt you, then even the ninth layer of hell will seem like the greatest mercy the heavens and hell could muster. She’s fiercely protective over you. While she won’t kidnap you, she wants to keep you happy, after all, she will try to convince you to live with her. Somewhere in a place no one knows about, where it’s only you and her without a worry for those two pests, Alejandro and Rodolfo. If you ever were to meet those two then I can assure you, you’ll never see Valeria this angry again. She loathes those two men with her entire being. Not that she has a very high opinion of men to begin with. If one ever decides to lay his grubby, disgusting hands on you, regardless of whether it’s some guy from the streets or the president of the United States, he can say goodbye to his head.

As I said before, she’s a really good cook. In fact, she’s good at just about anything you can think of. Well, almost. Either way, she’d love it if you could cook well. In fact, having someone who’s willing to be a housespouse is a dream come true. She won’t always be able to come home to you immediately, but if she finds you having cooked her a delicious, hearty meal, she’ll be on cloud nine. But even if your food isn’t anything noteworthy she’ll still eat it because it’s from you. She may be a cruel woman at times, but Valeria does care about you and tries not to hurt your feelings too much. At best, not at all. If she comes home to your shared home being well taken care of by you, with you having cleaned all the rooms as well as all the clothes that needed washing, you’ll have earned something nice from her. If you aren’t able to do so, no worries, she can always just hire some personnel to take care of it. But if it was you, then just name what you want from her. You want some cuddles or a kiss? Naturally. Some tres leches or churros? She won’t make them herself, but you can bet she’ll get you some regardless. If she’s especially tired some sweet words might be exchanged as well, but don’t expect her to be like that every time. Sometimes she does want to be a bit sweeter than usual, tell you how grateful she is to have you, but she’s afraid you might think of her a bit less than before, even if it wouldn’t happen. So, while she may not be someone who enjoys giving words of affirmation unless she needs to, you can count on her showing you affection through gift giving and quality time.

Jiwoo has always been a lovable person, she never had a problem with saying "I Love You", but Wonwoo had a hard time expressing his emotions, and Jiwoo accepted it. But after a whole year of dating, she was growing impatient and slightly insecure about their whole relationship.

''Is it me? Am I the problem?'' Jiwoo asked as she had her usual rant with Mingyu. ''I mean, did I say it too early? Did I scare him off? Did he think that I'm some maniac who'll hunt him down if he breaks up with me?''

Mingyu was trying to not laugh as she complained. ''Calm down woman! He's head over heels for you, and I know it!''

Jiwoo, who was stuffing her face with strawberries from Mingyu's garden, looked at her friend. ''Look, I know you grew up with Wonwoo, but I doubt you can read him like an open book. He's literally like North Korea, nobody's getting inside those walls''

''Whatever'' Mingyu walked into his, ridicolously big, kitchen. He found a bottle of wine and shrugged. It was 6 p.m, it's fine to get drunk at that hour. He also dug out a few bottles of beer, since he wasn't a wine fan.

He found two wine glasses before he walked back out to his best friend.

He held up the glasses and the bottles and smirked.

''I love you'' Jiwoo mumbled and took one of the wine glasses.

Mingyu chuckled and looked at the wine bottle. ''I don't got a cork opener'' He thought for a few seconds before he grabbed with his hands before janking a few times. To both of their surprise the male managed to open it.

''God-fucking-damn, are you the fucking hulk?'' Jiwoo asked with wide eyes.

''No, but I saw someone do it on instagram a few weeks ago. Looked fun and easy''

Jiwoo raised an eyebrow. ''My turn'' She took one of the beer bottles, put the cap between her teeh and opened it.

''You need to teach me how to do that'' Mingyu exclaimed as Jiwoo handed him the bottle.

Jiwoo poured herself a glass before she sat back down in Mingyu's, very comfortable, couch.

''Now, tell me everything. I know you're troubled''

''I'm not drunk enough for that'' Jiwoo mumbled and shugged her glass of wine, before she poured another one and shugged that one as well. ''Whatever, uhm, well... Wonwoo has still not said "I love you", and generally that's not a problem, I know I'm a bit more... lovey, but uhm, it's been a whole year!''

Her friend nodded along as he drank his beer. ''Well- wait, you've fucked, more than once- hell you've fucked more than once in my bed! You live together, which by the way happened like... two months into your relationship, but he still hasn't said "I love you"?''

''How did you know I fucked Wonwoo in your bed?'' Jiwoo's eyes widened.

''He told me after we got drunk and I forced it out of him because I wondered why my sheets were changed''

Jiwoo groaned. ''I'm gonna kill him. Now, back to the problem, how come he's said he loves chocolate, strawberries, kimchi fried rice, sweet and spicy chicken, but not me! He calls me his love, love, princess, cupcake, kitten, sweethear, dear, every fucking pet name in the book!''

''It's a lot easier to throw around the word with food and things when it doesn't mean as much, but he actually likes you, a lot, so I guess he's afraid he'll scare you off with those words''

''I said I loved him after two weeks'' Jiwoo deadpanned and downed another shot of Soju.

''Well... that I have no explanation for''

Wonwoo: Hello love, when are you getting home?

Jiwoo: Uhm, soon. I'm just helping Mingyu out with some love problems. If you wanna go to bed, it's fine.

Wonwoo smiled at his phone. He decided to go to bed. He was tired and the clock was nearing 10 p.m. Sure, it was fairly early to go to sleep, but he wanted to sleep.

But he also wanted to wait up. He had something importan to tell Jiwoo. He had built up so much courage, and hyped himself up a lot, to say this. He was sure he could this time.

He had spoken to Jiwoo's best friend, and his friend, Seokmin. The two had grown up together, much like him and Mingyu, and he knew everything about the girl. He was sure he could help him with his love problems.

Earlier that day: At Seokmin's

''Seokmin-''

''Yah, what did I say about my own name''

''Dokeyom, sorry, whatever. Uhm, so... what do you think goes through Jiwoo's mind as our one year anniversary is around the corner, and uhm... I still haven't said the... three words''

Seokmin, Dokyeom dropped the beer bottle, made of glass, on the floor as Wonwoo finished his sentence. He turned to Wonwoo with wide eyes. ''What the fuck, man?''

Dokeyom didn't seem to care about his, now damaged, parquet floor. Or the glass he almost stepped in as he rushed up to his friend. Or the fact that the beer was soaking into the floor and ruining it.

Wonwoo looked at his friends like a deer caught in headlines. He slowly lowered the beer bottle in his hands. ''What!?''

''You've dated Jiwoo for a year! And you've never told her you love her? Didn't she say it after... like two weeks?''

''Well, yeah, but she's a lot more... lovey dovey than me! And you know it's hard for me to express my feelings!''

Dokyeom sat down next to his friend. ''Wonwoo, I know you've got a hard time expressing your feelings, and I know she accepted that you for all that, which is amazing, and she adores you more than anyone she's ever adored before. But if you don't grow a pair and tell her you love her soon, she's gonna feel unloved and leave''

Wonwoo raised an eyebrow as Dokyeom spoke. ''Aren't friends supposed to support each other?''

''I am! In a different way... come on! It's just eight letters, three words, one sentence, cheesy bullshit''

''If all it is is 8 Letters, why is it so hard to say?''

''Because this time, if you say it, it will actually mean something. You've said that you love a lot of things, food, material things and shit like that, but this time we're talking about a woman, whose only wish is to hear those three words from your lips, and that terrifies you. You think she's gonna run away, she's not! She loves you more than anything!''

''But-''

Dokeyom sighed and raised his hand. He might regret this later, but right now it seemed like a good idea. He smacked his friend across his friend with all he had.

''Ow man! What the fuck!?'' Wonwoo's eyes were wide as Dokyeom looked at his hand. He didn't wanna admit it, but it hurt to slap Wonwoo.

''I'm helping you! You need to grow a pair of balls and tell your dream girl that you love her, or she'll slip through your fingers''

''Okay!''

The following day the two woke up, one of them more hungover than the other one.

Wonwoo chuckled as he got up. Jiwoo turned over and pulled the covers over her head.

He walked into the bathroom and found some aspirin and water, he got his gift and walked back to the bedroom. ''Happy Anniversary, Princess'' Wonwoo smiled as he held out the small present for Jiwoo, as well as the aspirin.

''Good morning, my love, happy anniversary to you too'' She took the aspirin's and downed them with some water, before she took the gift and handed her own gift to Wonwoo.

Wonwoo opened his gift and found a black skeleton watch in it. He'd wanted the clock for so long, but he never told Jiwoo because it was nearly 200'000₩. Jiwoo however had forced Mingyu to tell her what he wanted so she could get it.

''Woah, I never told-''

''I forced Mingyu to tell me'' Jiwoo smirked as Wonwoo admired the clock.

Jiwoo opened her own present and found two necklaces. One was Yin and the other was Yang. A smile grew on her lips. ''I tried giving you a necklace when we met for the firs time, you know what you said to me? You wouldn't wear it because your friends would call you gay''

''And I realize how stupid that was, I would happily be called gay for you'' Wonwoo smiled and took the Yang part of the necklace. ''You're the light in my night''

''You're cheesy'' Jiwoo chuckled as he helped her putting on the necklace.

''Only for you''

''Thank you, I love it. And I love you'' She smiled and kissed his cheek.

''You missed'' Wonwoo mumbled and grabbed Jiwoo's jaw in a gentle manner. He turned her towards him and kissed her lovingly. Wonwoo smiled into the kiss as he held her face in his hands. She was so tiny compared to him.

As they pulled away Wonwoo didn't let go of Jiwoo's face. He simply held it and smiled. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid his eyes on. His thumb ran over her cheekbones as a smile rose to Jiwoo's lips as well.

''You're so beautiful, I-'' He took a deep breath. ''-really want some ice cream, I'll go buy some'' Wonwoo said in a rushed manner and quickly got off the bed and rushed out the room.

Jiwoo's smile dropped. She didn't know what she did wrong. Okay, it wasn't necessarily her fault, but still, she felt like it was somehow her fault.

She got changed and walked downstairs. Wonwoo was nowhere to be seen. She sighed before she headed out the door.

It was her one year anniversary with the most amazing boyfriend she'd ever had, but she was spending it walking to her best friend, in the pouring rain.

She knocked on the door and a second later Dokyeom opened the door. ''What the fuck do you want? It's before 11 a.m''

''Wonwoo just ran out on me after almost saying ''I love you'', and now I'm here because I do not know what I did wrong''

Dokyeom's eyes widened. ''What? He did what? I'm gonna kill that son fo a bitch!''

''No! Don't! I love him, a lot, but I just... I- I just want to hear one "I love you", is that too much to ask?''

Dokyeom didn't reply. He was on his phone. It was ringing. Jiwoo grabbed the phone and threw it against the wall. ''No!''

''Jiwoo! That was new!'' The man exlcaimed and ran over to his phone, which was surprisingly not broken.

''Dokyeom! That is my love life!'' Jiwoo exclaimed in the same tone. ''Look, I know you wanna solve it, but I don't want you to tell Wonwoo. I wanna tell him myself, because otherwise he'll think I'm a little bitch who tells you everything''

''You are and you do'' Dokyeom replied without looking up from his phone.

''I know! But he doesn't need to know that. Besides, I don't want to rush him into this. I know his love life before me was shit. And I respect that. I just... I need some kind of... approval, no... some kind of verbal confirmation that the man loves me! I'm an attention whore!''

''I know''

Jiwoo glared at her friend. ''I- fine, you're right. I'm just gonna head home and wait for Wonwoo to come back home''

Dokyeom sighed. He loved his best friend, and he usually teased her for everything she ranted about, but right now she actually seemed very down. And he'd never seen her so down about her relationship. It almost annoyed him that the two seemed to have such a fairytale-like relationship, and if it wasn't this serious, he would enjoy this little bump, but this seemed to be all or nothing.

He walked over to Jiwoo and held out his arms. Jiwoo smiled and wrapped her, very wet, arms around his neck in a hug. Dokyeom wrapped his arms around her waist and squeezed her tightly.

''He loves you, okay. You guys are soulmates''

Jiwoo pulled away and chuckled. ''Thank you, you might be an asshole, but you know what to say when it's needed''

The man winked before he ushered her to stand up. Jiwoo continued chuckling and put her, drenched, jacket back on. ''See you later?'' Dokyeom nodded and waved at her as she walked back into the rain.

As she walked through the rain a train of thoughts crossed her mind. What if Wonwoo didn’t actually love her? Or what if he never actually liked her? Maybe he just-

No, positive thoughts. Dokyeom and Mingyu both told her that Wonwoo loved her more than anything. He was head over heels for her and she assumed he’d tell the two more about… those things.

She reached their shared house and unlocked the door. She spotted Wonwoo’s wet shoes and she heard the shower running.

Jiwoo walked upstairs and changed into one of Wonwoo’s hoodies and a pair of spandex shorts.

As her boyfriend walked out of the bathroom, towel around his hips and water running down his chest, Jiwoo looked up from her phone.

''Hey''

''Hey, uhm, sorry for earlier. I just- it’s hard. And I know it’s been a year''

Jiwoo knew this was stupid. If she was a rational person, she wouldn’t have blurted out what she did next.

But then again, she wasn't a rational person.

''Don’t you love me? It’s okay if you don’t, just tell me now so I won’t go around and believe something else''

Wonwoo sighed. ''Jiwoo, don’t be ridiculous-''

''Am I really being that ridiculous? We’ve been dating for a year. You’ve used every single pet name in the book on me, we’ve fucked, countless times, we know basically everything about each other including past, disgusting relationships, and you always tell me how much you love food, material stuff and such, but not me. I know I said I won’t rush you, but it’s been a year Wonwoo. I am a patient person, but never hearing someone saying that they love you, when you live together? After a while even the most patient person starts to lose it!''

A sigh left her lips. She felt bad. She didn’t mean to say all that. Especially not scream it in his face. But after a few weeks of bottling it up, she just exploded.

Wonwoo didn’t know what to do. She had a point. And he really did want to tell his dream girl that he loved her. That she was everything he’d ever dreamt of, but for some reason, whenever he’s about to say it, his throat just closes up and he can’t.

Maybe it’s trauma from his past relationships, or it’s just him not being a very emotional person.

Regardless he felt bad for his girlfriend. She was amazing in every aspect. She always told him how much she loved him, she always gave him space when needed, she there for him when his mother died. She really was everything he could ever want him a girlfriend.

He loved her. He did. More than anything. But he’s never been good with words, and apparently that’s not about to change anytime soon.

Jiwoo sighed and stood up. ''Look, I’m not breaking up with you. Especially not on our anniversary, but I think I’m gonna stay at Dokyeom’s for a day or two. Call me when you want me back home''

She felt bad. She knew he had a lot of trauma from past relationships. Cheaters, abandonment, pushy hi girlfriends, and a few who left him after he, apparently, said ''I love you'' too early. But she was also growing sick of waiting.

She stood up and headed out of the room. Wonwoo could only stare as she walked.

Why was he such a wreck?

Jiwoo put her shoes back on, and shuddered slightly as they drenched her socks within the second. She opened the door and stared at the rain for a short moment.

She pulled out her phone and sent Dokyeom a quick text. The walk to Dokyeom wasn't long, it only took about 10 minutes, but when it was pouring down, like it was right now, ten minutes felt ike an eternity. And JIwoo was a ridicolously slow walker. Sometimes.

Wonwoo snapped out of his frozen state when his phone dinged.

Dokyeom: What the hell dude? What did you say to her? And why is she on her way here, walking in the pouring rain, again

Wonwoo: I didn't do anything! Which might be the problem...

Dokyeom: Jeon Wonwoo, if you don't run after her, I might actually strangle you with my bare hands

Wonwoo stared at his phone. Dokyeom was right. And he was scary when he was mad, since he always acted like a sunshine.

He put on some clothes before he fell down the stairs, he'd forgotten his glasses in the bathroom, on the sink. ''Fuck, whatever''

He got his shoes and opened the door before he closed and locked it. He was celebrating, in his head, the fact that he was almost a foot taller than his girlfriend, and generally just faster than her.

But just to be sure, he broke into a blind sprint. He was slowly regretting not getting his glasses before this But that was too late anyways.

Jiwoo turned around as she heard someone behind her.

She spotted her blind boyfriend running. She chuckled as he squinted his eyes in a, failed, attempt to see anything. They both knew it was meaningless as he was blinder than most people.

As he was about to pass her, she reached out and grabbed him.

''Hello?''

''Jiwoo? Gosh- fuck, I should've brought my glasses'' Wonwoo cursed as he ran his hands all over Jiwoo's face, causing her to giggle.

''Wonwoo, what in the world are you doing? And- did you fall down the stairs?''

''Maybe...'' Wonwoo smiled sheepishly.

''Wonwoo...'' She ran her thumb over his cheekbone, which was slwoly turning into the wrong color. ''...I'm sorry-''

''It's not your fault. It's my fauly, I'm chasing you blindly, literally'' He flashed a goofy smile and laid his hands on her shoulders. ''Look, you got your rant, now it's my turn''

''Go for it''

''Kim Jiwoo, you're the most amazing person I've ever met. You've been patient for me now for a year, you've been with me for a year despite the fact that I seem to be unable to express those three words, and I've never been more greateful for anything in my life. You're always there when I need you, and you might be short, but you always seem to be ready to defend me and my honor. I... really, really like you, a lot''

Jiwoo smiled as he spoke, staring blindly past her head. ''I'm sorry for yelling earlier''

''You had every right to. I called you ridicolous, which you weren't. It's totally reasonable to doubt someone's love if they've never expressed it verbally''

''I don't need you express it verbally, I know you love me'' Jiwoo's smile softened as his hands slowly found her cheeks.

He cupped her face and ran his thumbs over her cheekbones. It was some weird habit he picked up after realizing how tiny her face was in comparison to his hands.

''I know it's cliché, but I've always wanted to kiss someone in the rain'' Wonwoo admitted sheepishly.

Jiwoo chuckled. ''Then I shall grant your wish''

She stood on her tippy-toes while Wonwoo leaned down slightly. He decided it was probably better if Jiwoo did the job so he wouldn't headbutt her, or poke her eye out with his lips.

As their lips met a loud cheer could be heard. They both recognized the voice as Dokyeom's. A moment later his scream was heard again, this time a lot more high pitched.

''Mingyu! Put me down! I'm two months older than you!''

''You're ruining their "Notebook" moment! And uhm, now, I'm gonna throw you on the floor''

''No!'' The door closed and Jiwoo could only guess what was happening behind those doors.

As the door closed Wonwoo wrapped his arms around Jiwoo's waist to pull her closer. Jiwoo smiled and wrapped her arms around the man's, ridicolously wide, shoulders.

As they both pulled away they chuckled. ''Why are we friends with them again?''

''Because we got stuck with them in junior high''

Jiwoo chuckled. ''Wanna go inside and lay down on Dokyeom’s new, white couch?''

''Duh''

The two walked inside Dokyeom's house, by force, and burst out laughing as they spotted Mingyu... sitting on top of Dokyeom to make sure he wouldn't ruin out and ruin their moment.

What might surprise people was the fact that this was completely normal to happen.

''Yah! I know what you're about to do, and don't you fucking dare!''

Jiwoo and Wonwoo smirked as they both eyed his new, white couch. Laying down on a new, white couch might be the same as asking for a death wish, but it was funny messing with him.

''Three'' Wonwoo smirked

''Two'' Jiwoo copied.

''One'' They chorused an threw themselves on his couch.

A shriek of horror left Dokyeom's lips, and somehow he managed to shove Mingyu from his back. He stood up and rushed towards his two friends. He quickly shoved Wonwoo of the couch and turned to Jiwoo.

''Okay, she's scary. Wonwoo, get rid of her!''

''Nah man, if you want her off your couch, that's on you''

Dokyeom sighed and shoved the girl off his couch, before hiding behind Mingyu and Wonwoo.

The girl stood up and narrowed her eyes at her friend, before chuckling. ''Sorry... uhm, I think we should head home'' She shivered slightly.

Wonwoo chuckled and nodde.d ''Your lips are blue''

''Yours are red, let's make purple'' Jiwoo replied in a teasing tone.

''Nuh-uh! You're not fucking in my house. Mingyu's bed was enough''

Jiwoo chuckled. ''Funny you say that, when I was asked to water your plants this summer, when you were in France, uhm-''

''No! Please say you're lying!'' Dokyeom looked horrified. ''I hate you guys, out!''

Wonwoo and Jiwoo were pushed out the door, quite literally, which caused them both to laugh loudly.

The rain poured down on them, since South Korea seemed to have some kind of rain period during this season.

''Let's dance!'' Jiwoo exclaimed and grabbed her boyfriend's hands and started spinning them both around in the open road.

The man still couldn't see jackshit, but he was just happy his girlfriend was happy. And judging by the loud giggles, which was like music to his ears, she was very happy in that exact moment.

As Jiwoo got a bit dizzy, she slowed down. As they slowed down Wonwoo pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her. Despite them both being freezing, they stood in the rain, in the middle of the road, hugging.

''I love this, but I'm so fucking cold'' Jiwoo stuttered as her teeth clattered.

Wonwoo pulled away from the embrace and laid one of his arms around her shoulders.

''I love you'' He mumbled quietly. He wasn't turned to Jiwoo, it didn't seven seem directed to her, but they knew it was.

Jiwoo smiled widely. She didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it. But on the inside she was cheering and screaming happily.

If I may ask. Your headcanons what kind of food and dishes the turaga like best? (Remembered the post discussing and being silly about the turaga realizing that they and the matoran have to eat food on Mata Nui. It was probably also an adventure when they figured out how to prepare it to make it taste better / able to be eaten at all.)

Hmm...

A lot of this depends on whether you assume Matoran's nutritional needs are at all similar to humans, or quite different, or whether they consume food for energy and nothing else. I'm kind of going with the latter but assuming they still can taste their food.

I've kind of made it a bit about the villages in general since what the Matoran have access to is going to influence what the Turaga eats and vice versa, hope that's okay.

Some general notes first:

Crops and orchards do not appear to be a thing on the island of Mata Nui. Each village has a single Vuata Maca tree, and some villages also had access to Bula berries, both of which are high energy fruits. Other foraged fruit and vegetables are on the menu, but grain-based foods are likely out.

Some of the foods I mention here would typically be made with a flour in our world. but since grains aren't really a thing, you can imagine it would be made from something like ground up nuts, tubers, or maybe even something like tree bark.

That said, despite not exactly farming the land, the Matoran on the island did try to maintain the health of the "natural" environment, for example, volcanic soil from the lava farms was used to improve the health of Le-Wahi's forests.

Two real life plants with edible parts are confirmed to be found on the island: Bamboo, which has edible shoots, and the harakeke, which has nectar used for flavouring. I'm also going to include seaweed in this category.

Matoran don't seem to eat meat apart from fish. In fact, the Skakdi mostly eat meat just to intimidate people from other cultures and they don't require it from a nutritional standpoint. Kualus was also alarmed and disgusted by the existence of predatory bird Rahi, so... Matoran seem to have a different view of what is or is not food than most human cultures. If you want to give them a bit more variety, perhaps there are shellfish, molluscs, or arthropods that they might also eat.

Terms that originate in cooking (baked, boiled, friedetc) are often thrown around in other contexts, but it implies that Matoran are familiar with them as cooking practices

Ga-Koro: Fish is going to be a big part of the diet. Nokama may have developed a taste and skill for hunting them as a Toa Hordika. I doubt that food poisoning is an issue for Matoran given how energy absorbtion works for them, so fish doesn't technically need to be cooked. However, cooking them for improved flavour or texture may have developed over time, though Nokama herself still prefers sashimi. I imagine Ga-Matoran have also experimented with sauces and marinades (including the harakeke nectar), and have derived a number of spices from aquatic and waterside plants. In the absence of refrigerators, they have probably developed a number of preservation techniques (pickling, drying, etc) that are largely used for trading fish to other villages, especially during spring-summer when the fish spoils more quickly (they may not get food poisoning but nobody wants fish that smells and tastes rotten!).

Ta-Koro: I headcanon that Vakama loves spicy food, and prefers meals that most people would consider slightly overcooked. Ta-Matoran in general probably like stews, curries and soups as well, even in summer, as they love the heat and aren't bothered by having a cooking pot going all day in their hut. I think they would also have invented various types of tea, some of which may have slight medicinal properties.

Po-Koro: Pie is mentioned in MNOG in Po-Koro, so I'm going to take that as canon. These could be made with fruit, root vegetables, or even fish when they can get it. I also think Po-Matoran, and especially Onewa, like a lot of salt on their food (interpret that any way you want) Maybe they even add other ground up minerals for flavour as well in lieu of herbs and spices. I think it's fair to say Onewa's favourite pie recipe wouldn't be considered tasty or edible by human standards.

Onu-Koro: Headcanon territory here, but I'm going to make this the one exception to the no farming rule. I like to think they grow a lot of root vegetables on the surface but mostly harvest them from below the ground, meaning the plants are almost never uprooted for harvesting, and some of the tuber root systems grow absolutely enormous. Cooking below ground has the obvious problem of smoke, which could be dangerous without good ventilation, so I like to think that quite often high-power heatstones are used to fry, boil and perhaps bake their food instead. Like Ta-Koro, they like their stews and curries all year round since the underground village is less vulnerable to the summer heat. I also think of the Turaga, Whenua is one of the most adventurous in terms of figuring out what is and is not edible. Some varieties of organic beetle grubs have made it into the Onu-Matoran diet as a result, though most of his culinary experiments don't really catch on. He does not trust mushrooms, and refuses to say why.

Le-Koro: Fruit is the big one here, with a lot of foraged fruit, berries and nuts making up a large part of the diet. Being the most energetic of the island's Matoran, most Le-Matoran love sugar, and anything they can use to make food sweeter is highly sought after. Marinating fruit in nectar, honey or juice is common. They even sweeten traditionally savoury foods like fish. If sugarcane exists on the island, they would be coating absolutely everything in raw sugar. Matau, while not as adventurous as Whenua, has tried a few interesting food experiments in his time, though most meals he eats are a fruit or berry salad with some kind of sweet flavour enhancer. He will not comment on the mushrooms.

Ko-Koro: Ko-Matoran tend to eat a lot less than other Matoran as their lifestyle is all about conserving their energy for things that really matter. Many of them live off the odd Vuata Maca fruit from the village's tree and don't feel the need for anything more exciting. A lot of their other food comes from trade, and they keep the traded goods in large storehouses as Ko-Koro often becomes inaccessible to other villages for weeks at a time in the winter. Cooking is not terribly popular, but smoked fish and marinated fruit obtained from other villages are well liked by many Ko-Matoran. Traders visiting Ko-Koro often have the problem of their wares, such as fruit juices, freezing solid during the trek up the mountain. Turns out many Ko-Matoran like their food frozen, however, so vessels similar to popsicle molds are used by some traders to take advantage of this. Nuju is a little different and has been known to try things that the local bird rahi recommend and bring him. So far the seeds are his favourite, and the fish was okay, but it was a hard pass on the mice and the worms.

looking at the wiki he's described as middle aged... maybe early 50s-early 60s?

youtube has been around for about 15 years and it probably started out as a hobby when he was in his 40s. although he never gained THAT much traction he was probably a niche exploration channel with a little following that dwindled over the years

the guy has a past in professional climbing but urban exploration was a prominent side hobby and interest for him so!!!

most of his notes as the vlogger victim are weirdly calm? i doubt he had much experience in paranormal prior but i guess if you're an urban explorer you're used to places being pretty nasty the further you go

he definitely encountered the specimen (since they're referenced in pretty much every other victim's notes and it's described that he went through specimen areas) but the fact that he never mentions them in his notes is interesting (i guess all these horrors beyond comprehension all equate to an 'uneasy vibe'). there's a lot of persona involved in vlogging so in refraining from actually mentioning any wounds or monsters he's encountered OM is masking the fear he has. he wants to let everyone know 'hey!!! hey im okay and managing!!'

i think the prospect of having an audience might have left him at least a little comforted. he probably found other lines of notes at the time and took solace in the concept of people knowing he's alive and moving (even if they don't know him personally)

i still hate the fact that his writing patterns completely change between specimen 12 and endless mode hallways but i get that if he was going 'hey guys. erm, so THAT just happened.' it would ruin suspense from a gameplay point of view so. I'll let that slide :/

he's been in for a few months and by the time the protagonist meets him, he's not COMPLETELY gone. specimen 12's weird parasitic nature relies on the prior host's death, and in parrying axe attacks he still has some kind of self preservation. but he definitely doesn't remember who he is or why he's there. 12 isn't exactly fully possessing but is more of a mindfuck like foodie and bab that mess with perception and mental state. it controls but doesn't invade

in OG OM was voiced by vernon shaw (hot pepper gaming). altho this was changed as well as the chillis being removed from specimen 12 in HD, the concept of specimen 12 being so deathly and terrible that only incredibly spicy and near-toxic food being able to grow in it is funny. no wonder he sounds like that.

as to further agitate hosts into murder, 12 doesn't actually generate any food. luckily, OM isn't a cannibal host and lives off of whatever he can grow down in the basement and any dead rats or (god forbid) specimen 3 carcasses that are around. If it wasn't for the strength given to him around 12 he would have died in a week

being an extrovert and feeding from that concept of an audience, being alone has had a massive toll on his mental state. this probably made him a more desirable host for 12 - if he's craving conversation and people then having voices and mirages impact his perception would definitely fuck him up enough to give in to kill. i don't usually take common headcanon names into account but people calling 12 'parry' gave me the idea of the spirits of 12 manifesting in visions as a singular being (although this vision is different to every host) in an attempt to aid with the host sympathising and agreeing with it.......

the entire hide-and-seek style game he creates for the protagonist - as well as sparked on by the protag being someone much younger than the typical victim (ILL WRITE MY PROTAG HCS IF ASKED.....) - is a reflection of him stalling to kill in order to entertain himself and 'entertain' his victim. if it weren't for his longing for human contact he'd probably kill straight off-the-bat but the opportunity to fulfill the gap for a short amount of time is open and sought-after.

despite this, there's a mutual separation between him and other specimen. he's not seen as a nuisance alike specimen 14 as he doesn't openly attack the others but is still a missed opportunity and not particularly wanted by anyone. most of the time he remains in specimen 12 but OM will venture out (on occasion) to specimen 13's rooms. his ONE good specimen relationship!!!

ok. POST BAD-END HCS.

fumbling their way thru the mansion would likely lead 14 to again meet OM at some point. 14 being hit with the SPECIMEN BEAM definitely enhanced their strength at least enough to kill and swing that axe more effectively. in anycase, if the two were to fight and OM almost loses, the clarity given through his self preservation is enough to at least make him aware that

1. He's being beat the shit out of by a teenager

2. He's attempting to kill the only other person in a similar situation to him

speaking OF that, the parallels within sjsm of the protag and [i guess ex-protag] seem to be everywhere when it comes to OM.

him recovering (or getting worse depending on how you see it) by mentoring and helping 14 survive within the mansion is always a concept i thought of given they're both humans who have (somewhat) made it through. he'd definitely have more of a drive to live on (and kill the enterers b4 they could kill him)

i had the idea that if 12 is constantly expanding and shifting through the mansion then OM and 14 could take advantage of that and start actually growing stuff.... making a little survivors camp and plotting.

anyways. those are my old man headcanons. I have absolutely taken canon and stabbed it 30 times but the concept of an ex protag is so cool

so i've asked briefcasejuice about this already but i'd also like your take too - since you're part of the daredevil tumblr fandom council and all ...

I'm writing this scene and one of my ocs asks matt if he can handle spicy food and i wanted him to explain this whole thing about pain receptors in his mouth being "sensitive"... and how he hated pineapple because of the bromelain...(the substance that breaks up the protein in your mouth, that's why it's tingly)

and then my oc asks about like regular "body" pain since touch is after all one of the senses of his that have been heightened, and he explains something along the lines of even if the feeling of pain is heightened -- his body isn't actually weaker or more sensitive - so while he gets injured like anyone else he feels the pain of those injuries differently (more). over time he has gotten used to it but its still something he's working on as he hurts himself worse with every fight.

WHAT I'M GETTING AT is that i came to @briefcasejuice about this because they're very knowledgeable about matt stuff and comic matt especially, and they told me it did sound pretty accurate - so now i guess i just want to know -

how do you interpret or view matt's sensibility when it comes to pain - and if it came up in TRT (which maybe it did and i forgot oops?) how would you write it out?

Ok first of I love the idea of a Daredevil tumblr fandom council, because now I've got the image of all of us gathered solemnly to talk about DD fandom topics and headcanons like

Second off, ooooh this is a good question. I can't remember if I've ever gotten deep into it in TRT, although it'll probably come up eventually. But I absolutely agree with @briefcasejuice, and with your take on it. This seems right, for a couple reasons, including my own experience with pain.

So a lot of this is based on my own issues (and one of the reasons I relate really strongly to Matt's sense of touch, touch starvation, and pain, and when writing generally include him being comforted and going near comatose beneath gentle touch). Without getting too specific, due to chronic pain and health problems, I experience something called allodynia - "pain due to a stimulus that does not normally provoke pain." Basically, my nerves are all spun up to 11 and even light sensation often reads as pain, regardless of whether I'm actually hurt - Matt's comment about 'cotton feels like sandpaper on my skin'? I get that, cause rough fabric's painful to me (another ex: put icy hot on my skin once, just about clawed it off my arm because I was convinced something had gone wrong and it was burning me). And on bad days, even very soft fabrics or, hell, a breeze, any sensation anywhere I have nerves feel like bits of glass grinding into a burn. Best explanation I have for a really bad day. And we know Matt's sense of touch is heightened. So I often think he feels a lot like me, and how you described it feels right.

Everything hurts more, even if you're not being hurt more, and even if your body's strong enough physically to take whatever's being done. Physically, there's no reason his body can't handle cotton sheets, or a food with acid, and God knows the man can take a punch. Functionally, his body is fine. But his nerves don't act that way. They send way more signals than they need to, and sure, this helps if he's trying to use them to his own advantage, but it also means he's left wide open to a far higher degree of pain from stimuli that most of us would consider more minor (pineapple, in this case) along with the pain we all regularly avoid.

Does he mostly block it out? Yes. Especially on a day to day, to the point where he may actually miss smaller injuries because he's focused on tuning out other, larger pains. I know I do - your brain eventually just goes 'oh new baseline and I still need to live so Imma put everything below it into the background so it doesn't stop us doing what we need to'. I hug people, I touch things that are rough, I use hot water with the dishes, and if I focus on it, I remember that it hurts a bit, but I've learned to tune that out for the most part. Much like me, Matt's dealt with this for years, so while he does what he can (soft sheets, avoiding certain foods, wearing certain types of clothes), he's gotten used to a lot of the day to day stuff he can't avoid, though like you said, as the injuries pile up, it just gets worse and worse as that pain stacks. Some of it might be tempered by surges of adrenaline and endorphins (why I theorize he can fight even when injured - tune it out thanks to all the practice, PLUS fighting so ferociously that his body pumps him up until he can ignore it, at least until he crashes afterwards, and crashes hard), but he's definitely feeling it far, far worse.

So I basically think it's likely, especially when pain is stacking, that he's just made a bunch of calculations for his everyday life on what's worth the pain and what isn't - certain foods? No point. Cotton sheets? No point. There is no benefit, and so he comfortably avoids it, whereas going out to fight he generally always sees as worth it since there's a tangible benefit. Those calculations at least are something we all do every day - we decide the pain of a tattoo or working out or that sour candy is worth it cause it gives us something we like. Matt just takes it up to 11. I can absolutely see him taking something like, say, pineapple - tingly and acidic - and not only feeling pain when eating it but also just literally running the mental math and going, 'yeah not worth it' because he's in enough pain day to day thanks to injuries and other things he can't avoid.

In summary: you're right and I headcanon Matt operates much like someone who's been dealing with allodynia for a while, which means he'd feel more pain from stimuli even if it's not hurting him, so he chooses things in his day-to-day to avoid and then just throws himself into the pain on big things and hopes the endorphins and adrenaline will help him tune it out.

LASTLY THANK YOU ON THE MANGO! I cannot BELIEVE I went so long without knowing how fucking delicious they were. New fruits I haven't tried that are on my list now that I realized I need to find if there are MORE DELICIOUS UNKNOWNS LIKE MANGOS: boysenberries, figs, grapefruit, guava, kumquats, passionfruit, papaya, prickly pears, and satsumas!

Ever since they left the Underdark, their family and community has always been itinerant. But even so, the other Elistraeean drow around them seem to have found their calling (their mother became a priestess, and everyone else is either a cook, a performer, a knight, a healer, or what have you). Wistenra gets some money and a few laughs out of running cons, but they haven't quite found their calling yet. They sort of have a job working for their patron (in addition to giving them powers, he pays them money to investigate Bhaal activities). I just think they enjoy the thrill and don't like to be too beholden to one thing for too long.

Wistenra is a biromantic asexual. They primarily use they/them pronouns, but they don't mind sometimes being referred to as she/her.

They are clever. They are very good at thinking on their feet and coming up with plans and talking their way out of situations.

They are charming. They know exactly how to pick the right word and use the right flair to get whatever reaction they want. They have quite the flair, and it is hard to look away.

Above all else, they are determined. You wouldn't know it from looking at them, but that is one of their defining traits. If they are driven towards something will not stop until they get it. You can bar them, you can beat them, you can strip them of every power, ally, or possession they have, and they will still keep going. They also will not settle for less. If a deal looks lop-sided, they will find a third solution. That's actually what drew their patron to them. He saw a lot of himself in that regard.

S/he loves spicy and savory foods. His/her tiefling tongue can handle more spices than most other can, and s/he loves to take advantage of it.

S/he loves to run his/her tail over sensory surfaces: sand on the beach, the silk or velvet curtains, grass on a picnic.

S/he broke down crying when s/he first went to a salon that specifically catered to tieflings. It was on that trip to Absalom with Daeran and Woljif. S/he went off to so shopping on his/her own when s/he found that salon. There were people there getting their hooves polished, and the stylists knew exactly how to file and polish his/her horns and style his/her hair around them. They even knew exactly what to do with his/her clawed toenails. Obviously no one at Marhaven knew how to do any of that. No one, except for one person, knew or really bothered to care to take Lenarius's physiology into account for most things, so it was a raw experience for him/her.

-Dutch or rather from some yet unknown Netherlands inspired region, accent is especially noticeable with strong emotions, sometimes grandpa gets so overwhelmed he starts blubbering in Dutch

-tall with a thick, sturdy build, strong upper body softened by age, comfort and lots of love, long dancer's legs, hairy arms, legs and chest, looks a little top heavy

-comfortable in his skin, was a little embarrassed when he first noticed his sweater vest fitting a little more snugly but he's come to accept it, nothing wrong with being a little chubby

-Pokemon are named after famous painters, Bosch the Baxcalibur, Martin the Dragonite, Grünewald the Haxorus, Claudel the Noivern and Abel the Dragalge, except for Flapple who is named Schatje, the little treasure from his little treasure

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?

serena has been an oc of mine for almost like... ten years ♡ obviously she has changed a lot over the years, but her general appearance and demeanor have stayed the same. i've always loved writing soft girls, so that's something that's been consistent with her that i really enjoy. serena atp is just a part of me, she's like my favorite toy. i love writing her, no matter how long a hiatus i take, i always come back to her.

is there anything you don’t like to write?

uhhh not really, i enjoy writing most things! it just depends on my mood at the time. most of the time i don't enjoy writing or talking about smut. like i do, but i just need to be in the mood. and constantly talking about smut does get annoying for me ;w; (but i don't DISLIKE IT i have to be CLEAR)

is there anything you really enjoy writing?

i luuuuuv <333 writing romance <33 and shipping <33 i'm so annoying <33

but beyond that i also like absurd plots, and fun, ongoing complex plots that just become an entire universe ala the romy and love cinematic universe <3

how do you come up with headcanons?

i just sit and think about my muse! i listen to music, look at pinterest, talk and plot with my friends, and just look at media that reminds me of her. all of that brings me back to just thinking about her, and how that headcanon makes her more 'fleshed out' and if it conflicts with other things about her. and if it does conflict, is there a reason that makes sense?

do you write in silence or do you play music?

music. i actually really dislike writing in the silence. i almost always have something playing - usually just music or youtube.

do you plan your replies or wing them?

wing them!! i only ever really wing my replies, except with certain people that i talk about threads really in depth with. like, with romy, sometimes we'll really talk about a thread scene by scene with each other. i looooove getting to do that, especially since we can't always throw replies back and forth </3

do you enjoy shipping?

YES i think shipping is really fun, and i'm a hopeless romantic with nowhere to put all that love <3 so i just live vicariously through serena. so i love writing those deep feelings, and I LOVE WRITING / READING PINING SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!! (for the weird questions for writers ask game!) thank you for sending 'em! 10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

There def pieces of writing that "haunt" me in the sense that they have stayed with me for being so darkly emotionally affecting: the lyrics of the climax of Joanna Newsom's Only Skin have been meaningful in my heart for over a decade at this point. same with Invictus, it's a cliche but I encountered it at a rough part of my life so it meant a lot to me. More recently it has been Salvage that keeps coming to mind: I feel grateful for it, for being so bluntly honest about a feeling that is so difficult to talk about.

My own writing? The one that I keep coming back to is HANDLED just because I think I did a good job explaining the "vibe" in a way that feels salient to me, though I'm not sure it's effective communication to anyone else!

hm, what counts as a writing wish. did you know someone once asked me a "three wishes" type question on my old tumblr like 6 years ago and i said i'd wish to be omnipotent

i wish that 1) i eventually finish my long-form original, PRMH, to my satisfaction and edit it into something nice that my friends can read, and 2) i write a bunch more lyrics in 2024, i like writing lyrics, and 3) i get better at writing more and weirder kinks in my erotica (both fandom and original) :D

Let's steal something from the dinner from Tephra Year ch1 since that's fresh in my mind!

"This is all delicious," he commented after a second helping. "I almost want to ask if the chef is of Waterdhavian background, because from what you've said, you're a Baldurian to the core." Enver shook his head, amused. "My tastes are varied, but I'll admit your suspicions are correct. I only wanted to ensure they'd get a bit of practice. I wouldn't want you to get homesick.” He gave Gale a soft, modest smile. “You should let me know of your favorites." "You're too kind," Gale said, before realizing what a tremendously comedic thing it was to say without further context. "I'm happy to hear it. If you aren't being kept in greater luxury than you were accustomed to in your seaside tower, I've failed as a host." It was after Gale had finished his third glass of wine and his second story about Tara that a servant brought out a dessert— a beautiful tart, heavy with ripe, glistening slices of pear. Gortash took a generous piece for himself, and Gale felt permitted to follow suit.

so the general vibe here is, of course, that Gortash is trying to get on Gale's good side very hard and make this little business arrangement feel friendly and enjoyable so that Gale lets his guard down a bit and is more cooperative instead of feeling like he's being forced (he's not gonna be as effective if he's thinking about "I am doing a horrible thing for a horrible man" the whole time!)

interesting notes: There used to be a line in here that literally said that Gale hardly noticed he was only talking about himself, which I was on the fence about including-- wonderful beta reader (@slipintosomethingsoft hi) encouraged me that it wasn't necessary and I could keep the show-don't-tell approach and add a couple more details like having Gortash smile after his comment about homesickness to make it all the more obvious he's being weird right now. also I love describing food (and i have a little bit of a thing about gale eating for the 0 of my followers who aren't aware). I wanted to have Gale cautiously surprised by the aggressively-pandering menu-- yet enjoying it all anyway! supposed to be a sort of echo of his general vibe of "i know i should be watching out, but i'll watch out, and in the meantime i can enjoy myself, right? might as well". gale, essentially, sees what's happening and thinks he's more than clever enough to manage to snap up the bait without setting off the trap. :3

(Srry for the late answers!! Thank you for the questions!!🩷) Long post so I will put these under a cut!

7. Hmm I actually wrote a little thing before about ebi in a bath, so I’ll do this one with Ebrietas and Lovelace. I think Lovelace would know all of the little intricate details about Ebrietas’s routine tbh. He thinks Ebrietas smells soft and warm (my brain is like balsam candle?? Warm cotton? Frankincense??? Cinnamon?? Stuff like that) he’d undress him for the bath and use a loofah or a sponge and wash him, he’d use his hands to wash his hair (Ebi’s hair curls up when it’s wet, Lovelace loves to play with it). Depending on the size of the bath tub though, he might get in with him, though Lovelace is rly big (7’6) so he prob wouldn’t fit into a small tub with him. I think Lovelace would be so tender with him though for this sort of thing. 🥺

11. Ebrietas for both Lovelace and Erenville can’t stand the climates they’re both from. He’s a winter baby, he loves the cold, wind, snow, ice, etc. Lovelace doesn’t like the cold, he will complain about it, even Sharlayan is cold to him, but he frequents Sharlayan often not only to visit (annoy) Ebrietas, but for business he just bundles up a lot more. Lovelace travels a lot anyways so he’s been in a bunch of climates, usually when they are somewhere cold, he’ll stay in his cabin instead of being out on the deck of the ship like he usually is. Ebrietas would probably be so cranky if he visited to Golmore jungle, Dalmasca in general unless he was visiting the mountainous regions specifically because of how hot it is there. He’s more like a Veena than a Rava tbh. (He’s accompanying Lovelace and the crew in Tural so he better get ready for that too, Erenville asked him nicely and he hesitantly agreed)

12. Hmm I’ll say Elidilace for this one, usually Lovelace will cook something, for some reason, he doesn’t really trust Elidibus to cook since he doesn’t technically need to eat and probably hasn’t cooked in over 10,000+ years so he would cook the both of them something light. Lovelace grew up eating spicy food, but if he’s dining with someone he knows can’t take it, he’ll accommodate. They’d probably eat stew chicken or a light fish soup or something (Lovelace’s village & people eat Jamaican cuisine cos I’m projecting LOL 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲)

14. Surprisingly out of any of the pairings, I’d say Lovelace cries the most. He’s the haughty guy, but he’s also doing most of the difficult work as the warrior of light. Sometimes things get to him or his past will open up old wounds and he’ll cry, usually in private. I think Ebrietas and Elidibus see this happen most. Ebrietas isn’t good with dealing with other people’s emotions so he’ll usually sit next to Lovelace silently, just being there as a presence for him. Sometimes he asks Lovelace about it and they’ll have a conversation about it to help ease the pain. Elidibus will be by Lovelace’s side, wiping his tears away, planting kissing on his face, and allowing him to vent. He offers Lovelace, like Ebrietas, a person to lean on if he needs the silence, sometimes Elidibus will talk to him about his past, travels, etc. in case it’s a much needed distraction.

Ebrietas doesn’t cry often and he’s usually very confused and angry at himself when it does happen, he usually won’t notice at first. Lovelace will either stay some ways away from him or embrace him. He usually doesn’t ask why he’s crying, Ebrietas usually will tell him what bothered him, though sometimes he holds back. Erenville will comfort him and ask him if he’s ok, offer to take him on a walk, offer to buy him a confectionery or the like. He’s very patient with him.

18. Oh boy the biggest one I think is Lovelace and Ebrietas. They kind of crack each other open a lot of the time. Ebrietas definitely learned to be more open to talking to (or at least tolerating) other people because of Lovelace being so insistent on being around him. They absolutely were enemies for the longest time, Ebrietas hated him so much at first like clawing at him like a feral cat because someone would dare be so disrespectful to him when everyone who was disrespectful to him was either brutally killed by him or too scared to be because they were scared of being killed by him. Lovelace taught Ebrietas patience whether he likes it or not, he is more patient and approachable now than he was before he met Lovelace. He’s not angry about it, just more resigned now.

19. Lovelace and Erenville for Ebrietas for sure, they both know their ways around. Ebrietas was basically stuck in his family mansion for most of his life so he doesn’t know how to go about travelling other than teleporting. Erenville is good with directions and Lovelace has been flying in airships 90% of his life, he knows his way around, he’s a certified globetrotter. He’s the one in charge of the steering of the airship/ other mount. Ebrietas knows his way around the sea of stars, not hydaelyn so he’s usually leaving that stuff up to them. He’ll pack his own stuff and that’s it.
