ok yknow what. i honestly think the reason a decent amount of mainstream autism rep has historically been bad isn't because it's. like. wholly unrealistic yk. it's because a) that's ALL most rep boils down to which gives allistic ppl who don't do research or whatever a good chance of thinking that IS autism instead of just a simplified version of one of the many ways someone on the spectrum might be and b) even when it's an accurate-ish way of how someone might exist it's constantly treated as either a joke or a morally bad thing. like.

as someone who definitely to some extent falls under the Emotionally Detached Low Empathy Guy Who Is Smart And Likes Science And Toys And Overanalyzes Social Interactions trope. it would be nice to a) see more than JUST that in media. just bc autism has been historically diagnosed way more in men does not mean every autistic person is smartass mcwhiteboy. and b) when it is depicted this way, see it as smth other than demonized. yknow. obviously sheldon cooper is the first thing that comes to mind. but it's the combination of horribly oversimplifying someone to a bunch of stereotypes and then taking things that might feel more like a person having experiences and turning them into bad things, either by having em pointed out by other characters as such or using narrative framing & a laugh track to do the job. low empathy? yeah that character is unfeeling and cold or something. and also super arrogant and selfish because the autistic tendency to put others' issues in terms of your own experience totally isn't someone doing their best to relate to you and offer comfort. they just only care about themself.

and it goes on and on and on and on! nobody wins. people who don't relate at all to a specific portrayal just don't get any representation, i guess! and those who do identify with some ways autism manifests itself in a character get to see it constantly belittled.

I’d panic and I’d say or do the dumbest shit ever and I’d just embarrass myself even more to the point that I want to die. 💀 In addition to how I kin with Lua through her actions and personality, I really mess with her sense of fashion too. For a few days I was driving myself crazy with the idea of posting my first short scene and had almost decided against it. Then I heard posting my story would just be the cherry on top of the cake.

Well, I like cherries.

Here is my first little scene.

Something woolly

"What am I doing here? When you bought these animals I didn't expect that it would end with me in a stable. Although I must admit that for a stable it has already become a gem."

With a serious face, the future Countess Arendae stands between her animals and waits until the Count's gaze seeks hers.

"Choose one."

"I beg your pardon?"

"You shall choose a lamb."

As if only now noticing the animals, Daeran looks around a bit confused.

"For what?"

"For the feast."

Very slowly, realization creeps into what is just a confused look on the count's face.

"Oh no, now it dawns on me where this trip is going. I keep telling you it was just a provocative joke."

"I know that, my favorite count. After all, I hear this story every time guests are present and there's a piece of lamb on the table. So this decision shouldn't be a problem, should it? Here, hold this."

Before he can object, Daeran finds himself with a snow-white little lamb in his arms. Instinctively, his fingertips dip into the silky white wool to hold the fragile animal.

"Did we buy this walking pile of wool just so you could torture me?"

"Surely not, but it's a nice side effect" 

Tishlia's serious expression gives way to a diabolical grin. She likes it too much to challenge him. Carefully tickling ucarefully until another small part of his already fragile wall collapses.

"You're not going to give up, are you?"

"Never."

"At what point did I miss you becoming so cruel?"

"Maybe you missed it until now, or maybe it happened when you joined forces with my parents," she replies snappishly. His guilty conscience about this fact is completely unnecessary, but it couldn't hurt here right now.

"So now I have to pass a death sentence on a lamb. Just because I actually like your parents against all odds?"

"No, you will, because I know you and I know when something else resonates in your voice when you make those provocative jokes."

She pauses for a moment, gives him time to pierce her with his wonderful eyes and enjoys every second of it. The suspicion that some wonderful moments they could experience together would never get a chance because he’d continue to hide behind the mask of an anecdote has been smoldering inside her for a long time.

She has carefully planned this moment, time for the final blow.

"You get to make a choice and just walk away again. Or you can tell me you can't. But don't hide from me." This time it's her eyes that pierce him, and as expected, he doesn't withstand them for long.

Audibly sighing, Daeran turns his gaze away and his entire attention to the small animal in his arms.

"Why do you have to be such cute little soft clouds."

Slowly, Tishlia steps closer, places her hand next to his in the soft wool, and looks lovingly at her fiancé before kissing him tenderly over the tiny sheep. When their lips part, he rests his head against her forehead as he gazes dreamily at the contented little animal.

"Very well, perhaps not all of it was a joke after all. But now you want the whole story, right?"

"Later," she replies softly "with a glass of wine, on the divan, in front of the fireplace."

"Is this the reward for the soul-crushing agony I just endured? Then I'll gladly accept it and savor it completely." The cheeky grin she loves so much returns, promising her a wonderful evening.

A hint of skepticism reappears in Daeran's eyes as he realizes what consequences this confession could have for future mandatory events with boring guests.

"You won't tell anyone?"

"Of course not. I promise." The gentle completely sincere promise makes the tension melt away from Daeran and he goes back to cuddling the lamb. Tishlia watches him for a while, completely satisfied with the outcome of her little plot.

"Tisha, could we at least keep this little cloud?"

The future countess steps back, takes a deep breath and looks at the little lamb with a shrewd shepherd's eye.

"Well. There are only six lambs. We will keep all of them, for my project the flock has to grow bigger first. What’s needed for the celebration already is well organized."

Giggling softly to herself, the shepherdess slowly walks backwards towards the gate.

"You sneaky little..."

But before Daeran can set the lamb down, his tormentor has already disappeared from the stable, laughing.

kind of pissy and upset that crowley is actually dead-dead and it was such a weird anticlimactic sendoff that i didn't even realize it while watching. so seeing his dumb little topside throne room i'm getting all weird and protective over it being his space.

sure felt like a problem behind the scenes and i was avoiding looking it up and well, this is wholly unsurprising

i didn't think the show could get bad enough that i wouldn't be able to finish watching, because i have such a strong attachment to sam and dean... but i feel like that they might be proving me wrong

that interaction was cute, mainly because jackles seemed way more... i dunno. relaxed? and that little small expression to sam where he widens his eyes to jack getting what teleport is, just feels really natural. also his voice seems slightly different? more like jensen's actual voice dropped a little instead of putting on the voice for dean. less raspy, more resonant and rounded sounding but still deep. well and likely that's been happening and i just didn't notice or they're doing the audio differently

listen. this is the most ridiculous plot choice. 1) we need to protect jack and take him to the bunker because angels/demons/etc all want him, tried to get him warded via tattoo 2) not-hunter donatello shows up so hey, jack can stay with him because things got tense yesterday. he doesn't need that close of protection that we should tolerate unnecessary tension. 3) oh no. general colonel sanders has found him and now he's gone ;( big sad face

who choreographed this fight scene??? laughing and distressed. stunt person getting some up close and personal time with jackles's (or his stunt double's) crotch/ass

often wondered why they never throw the angel blades, since they're dime a dozen these days. can't have anything too op though right, why they had to melt down the colt. also sam's hair seems to be sort of reverting more to that... s10? styled-ish bob thing

this episode had some new angles and lighting and getting a little more creative in shot selection, so that's nice at least. also less music? there's still some score but i think like this sequence not having music is really effective. and hey this guy directed 11x04 baby too

JACK Exactly. What the hell am I? I can’t control… whatever this is. I will hurt someone. DEAN You know, my brother thinks you can be saved. JACK You don’t believe that. DEAN No, I don’t. JACK So… if you’re right? DEAN If I’m right… and it comes to killing you… I’ll be the one to do it.

i'm all for them having a kid, because why not. you know i eat up that domestic bullshit with a spoon. but this very clear setup of a character arc for dean and jack and whatever, just feels very set up.

i keep thinking about how like, if xyz that happened in this episode happened in s4 or something, i think i'd genuinely appreciate it then. but like.. we have been down the same path so many times now, i can't really appreciate the things anymore. i don't want to hate everything, and i'm really trying to come into each episode with limited baggage and appreciate when i can because otherwise i will just give up. this is the only thing i do in the evening after the kids are in bed. if i hate everything about it every day, i'll have to find something else to do sooner rather than later. but i'm also invested in completing it. if i've made it this far.. buh. anyway.

⭐My kdrama 2023 wrapped⭐

I’ve seen some other blogs doing this and thought it would be a fun tradition to start myself. So here’s my 2023 wrapped of the dramas I’ve watched this year (in order of when I finished watching them):

Big Mouth (★★★★☆) I just remember being so engaged, glued to the screen the entire time because I had a hard time keeping up with everything happening. It keeps you guessing the whole time, and at least I never saw the twists coming. The actors were so good, especially during the darker, more heavy scenes, which can sometimes be hard to really get into. After watching, I recommended this to a friend, and she loved it as well.

Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow (★★★★☆) Oh boy, where do I even start. The world building here blew me away, and the drama is absolutely gorgeous. I adore the characters and all their relationships with each other. I do think season one has the better story overall, as season two did some things I didn’t really love, but overall I love this drama.  

W: Two Worlds (★★★★☆) This was recommended to me by a friend, and I had a lot of fun running all my theories by her (I was usually wrong, but hey). It is a bit of a messy drama for multiple reasons, but in the end, I had a lot of fun watching, which is why it ended up with four stars. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be amazing, it just has to be a fun experience.

Soundtrack #1 (★★☆☆☆) Full disclosure – I only watched his because of Park Hyung-sik. The drama is too short, too superficial. It’s okay for what it is, but I was so bored watching this. I guess it has its cute scenes and all, but it doesn’t do anything for me.

Our Blooming Youth (★★★★☆) Yes, I watched this because I wanted a proper Hyung-sik drama, so what? I ended up liking the drama more for the female leads in the end, though, so that was a happy surprise. A murder-mystery with a badass female lead was not something I thought this drama would give me, but I loved it even more for it.

Joseon Attorney: A Morality (★★☆☆☆) I was so excited about this drama only to end up so disappointed in it all. The writing is just… really not good. The characters annoy me so much and everything just feels fake. The setup itself could have made for such an interesting story, but they really did nothing right with it.

While You Were Sleeping (★★★☆☆) Overall a pretty good drama, though I do remember it dragging out at certain points with repeating storylines. A pretty standard rom-com with a cute couple and actors with good chemistry. Nothing that blew me away, but not a bad drama at all, either.

Black Knight (★★★☆☆) A typical dystopian story produced by Netflix. It was good, everything looked amazing, and the actors were so good. I do think it was too short, and therefore felt rushed in some places – especially the last episode that just went absolutely off the rails. Overall, nothing mind-blowing, which is why it ended up with three stars.

The Glory (★★★★☆) This was everything I had hoped it to be, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Definitely a dark, very heavy drama that deals with a lot of serious trauma, and I think they handled it perfectly. It’s unhinged in the best ways, and really takes you for a ride.

Hidden Love (★★★★★) At first, I was really iffy about the age difference, but I think they handled it beautifully and nothing ever felt wrong or gross to me. This is a love story I’m going to be comparing future romance dramas to for a long time. They are such a cute couple, and I just loved everything about this drama.

King the Land (★★★☆☆) Now this drama got a lot of hype when it was airing, and it did start out so good. But in the end, it just fell flat for me. It was pretty to watch, but it felt hollow and without real feeling. They did all the typical rom-com clichés that I usually love, but nothing ever really hit properly. It’s not a bad drama by any means, it just didn’t really resonate with me.

The Uncanny Counter: Counter Punch (★★★★★) I’m always so wary about second seasons of shows I love, because it’s so easy to mess up and can really make or break a show, but they really did everything so right with this season. I cannot think of a single thing I don’t like about this drama. The characters, the found family, the friends – it’s just perfection.

My Lovely Liar (★★☆☆☆) Started out fun and quirky, but it just lost me along the way. It’s such a messy drama, and you never really know what’s going on. There wasn’t ever really any feeling in any of the writing, and it felt like they were just pulling storylines out of a hat at random. I think it could have been a good drama, they just made all the wrong decisions.

Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun (★★★☆☆) Now overall I have given this drama four stars, but for just this season, I can’t give it more than three. It has nothing to do with the change of cast, I just kind of felt like nothing ever really happened in the story? Compared to the first season where we were constantly moving around and learning about the world, this season was such a stand-still. Don’t get me wrong, I love this drama – the world-building is absolutely insane, and I will definitely watch another season if they ever actually make it. I just like the first season better.

Strong Girl Nam-soon (★★★☆☆) Just go watch Strong Woman Do Bong-soon instead. Is this a bad drama? Not at all, it’s cute and all, but did it need to be made? No, I don’t think so. Very generic Kdrama overall, nothing special at all about it.

Thank you for the tag! This is gonna be challenging because I don't watch much in general, and as a consequence many/most of these are from my childhood or many years ago, but still-

Trying to mix it up with some Western cartoons/shows too :3

1. Pokémon

Even though I haven't followed the anime religiously since DP times, I can't avoid adding it since it sparked my interest in Pokémon videogames when I was 5 and I'm still a huge Pokémon fan to this day, 22 years later. The Gen1-2 anime has the most special place in my heart, but I am quite fond of the Gen3 anime too. Not as much of the Gen4 anime, but I did like it.

2. Hetalia

Yes, pulling out the two most meaningful ones to my existence right away. What do I have to say about Hetalia? 12 years and counting, I can be a very loyal fan when something resonates enough with my heart. I watched the anime first, and I fell in love at episode 1 already. Not even sure why, but yeah. You can't explain love, can you? y-y

3. Corrector Yui

A sadly quite underrated majokko anime from the early 2000s. I'm not the biggest magical girl fan, and I soon grew out of that phase when I was a kid, but this anime, oh God, this anime. I love it so much, I plan to rewatch it entirely but so far I only binged several episodes. But anytime I'm like "okay I'm just watching this one ep" I end up binging at least two or three. Which is a lot for my standard, I drop anime very easily especially nowadays. The fact that it can keep my nostalgia going and it doesn't give me the "my god how did I like this as a kid?" reaction (unlike Tokyo Mew Mew, sorry).

Also!! This anime is structured in a way that loosely resembles AUs and I remember this is one of the aspects that got me hooked as a kid in the first place (the other aspect is that the protagonist isn't actually using magic, but rather highly advanced technology). Basically, the protagonist can materialize herself into the Internet and each site is basically an Alternate Universe - there's one themed like the Far West, one that is populated by characters from fairytales, one sets you up as the protagonist of a Murder Mystery and so on. It's such a cute idea, I love it a lot!! I think it influenced my taste in fandom experience a lot, despite back then I didn't even have access to the Internet.

4. The Simpsons

Listen. The first seasons were gold. No wonder they gave birth to so many memes. I'm always up to watch them, and newer seasons fucking enrage me. How tf do you ruin such a good show?? Yikes. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it shaped my humor a bit because there's so many quotes and scenes I remember and come to my mind whenever they apply/relate to something I'm seeing.

5. Hamtaro

I was addicted to this anime, I had so many plushies and toys too!! Too bad someone convinced me to give away most of them when I was in the preteen phase, fuck. Probably not something I'd ever rewatch because I'm way out of the target now, but some scene here and there?? Sign me up! Obviously, I'm talking about the old seasons, because they look awful with the newer design where they have giant heads and the tiniest body. Relationship dynamics between the characters were so good.

Also the videogames! Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! and Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Heartbreak are great games that can be enjoyed by adults too. They're very wholesome and with a nice humor, perfect cozy games for when you want to just play something cute and positive that still requires a little bit of thinking.

6. Community

Ngl, I don't think I've watched all of it because I simply do not have the habit of watching TV shows on streaming sites and I don't really obsess over them, I just watch them as they're broadcasted on regular TV. But this one was so good (at least as long as Troy was around), I love how meta it can get by playing with different tropes, genres and even media. Probably the only American show with real actors that has a place in my heart.

7. The Amazing World Of Gumball

Like the rest of the American stuff in this list, I don't actively search for it, but if I cross path with it I'll gladly watch it. Gumball is one of those things that gets me so hooked for the time an episode is playing. I love how non-sense it is, but I think how creative it is visually, merging many different animation methods, is actually what attracts me the most to it. I simply love how all these different mediums and styles are made to coexist in the same frames.

8. Binan koukou Chikyuu bouei-bu LOVE!

Aka, virtually the last anime I managed to watch without dropping it after the first episode. God, it is so hard for me to resonate enough with an anime/show/anything, I'm sooo picky 😅 Anyway, ye, this is mostly what filled my thoughts for a good chunk of my hiatus period where I took a break from the Hetalia fandom (that lasted a few years). I obsessed quite a lot about it, I love the first season especially (second season is alright, HappyKiss should burn at a stake, sorry) and I feel compelled to add it to this list especially for how much I related to one of the characters especially and because my favorite ship (which wasn't even canon, barely had any moment 💔) accidentally inspired some aspects of a ship between my original OCs. Yes, I have OCs. And a story I'd like to work on. Maybe one day ... I'd love to show my babies to you guys one day.
