My friends got me into The Ultimatum (Queer Edition) on Netflix and I am beset with ideas on how this would work with couples/triangles/alternate pairings in NHL hockey.

The concept is that five couples who are at a "get engaged or break up" point in their relationships go to a resort/condo complex, break up with their current partner, get together with someone else from the group, and spend three weeks in a "trial marriage" with their new partner. Then they break up with their "trial marriage" partner and get back together with their original partner, and spend three weeks with them. After that, they decide whether to get engaged to their original partner, get engaged to (or at least start a relationship with) the new partner, or leave single.

It's demented and I have so many hockey thoughts, inspired by the fact that I often ship an alternative to the juggernaut:

1. Sid/Geno as original couple, Sid/Nate as new couple. Or, to swerve back to my first fave pairing, Sid/Giroux?!? This is such a good scenario for hatesex. Geno wants to get married and is tired of hockey always coming first. Nate makes a good "I understand your hockey feels" partner, Giroux makes a good "ugh I HATE YOU, how did I trip and fall mouth first on your dick" partner.

2. Draisaitl/Tkachuk as original couple, McDrai as new couple. The idea of Leon wanting to get married and Matt saying "no no no never WAIT YOU LIKE SOMEONE ELSE WHY" is hilarious to me. (And "wait, we could have been having sex this whole time? how did I not know you were into me?" angle on McDrai is delightful.)

3. McDavid/Eichel as original couple, McDavid wants to get married, Eichel thinks they don't see each other often enough for that (even though now they're even in the same division). Eichel was not expecting Connor to go after Leon, but now he's gonna be super insecure about that, thanks a LOT.

4. Matthews/Marner. Auston wants to get married, Mitch is so! not! ready! Mitch consoles Eichel maybe?? Auston ends up with...???

5a. Giroux/Gritty-- NO EVEN I CANNOT GO THERE. Um, Giroux/Konecny would be fun, because then I could do Tkachuk/Konecny (rat/rat!), and apparently the odd men out are Geno/Matthews? Hmm.

5b. Nate/Cale? In which case... Cale/Tkachuk because Matt wants to see how red Cale's cheeks get, and Geno/Matthews again. (Does my subconscious just want to ship Geno with Matthews? Why, subconscious?)

If I were trying to do something with the Kraken, maybe Jaden Schwartz/Vince Dunn as an Old Familiar Couple, but then Schwartz ends up with Eberle and Dunn and Larsson fall in love? Or Soucy/Oleksiak are the original couple, but then Old Flame Will Borgen enters the chat?

I am trying to resist this, but I'm so damn entranced it's downright stupid.

I keep trying to come up with a metroidvania upgrade gimmick that's even dumber than stuff like Hollow Knight requiring you to spend a charm slot to see your location on the map, or Rebel: Trasmute making it possible to unequip your own HUD (i.e., thereby removing your health bar from the screen), but always come back to the fact that in the original PC version of Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils, the opening room has to be completed while exclusively walking to the left because you need a specific upgrade to be able to walk to the right. This is a game from 2006, and the bit had already reached its ultimate form – I genuinely can't think of anywhere to go from there.

I know they don't really exist in your AU, but what would your idea of a Glamrock Fredbear and a Glamrock Spring Bonnie look like?

Now I don't usually take any kind of drawing requests.. but you caught me at a time where I was really itching to draw and I needed some inspiration XD

So here ya are, my version of the Glamrock spring boys would look something like this! (With the other Freddy's and Bonnies to compare!)

These very shiny and glittery fellows have some black, white, purple and a lot of gold in their color palette. They have unique face shapes and body types to further distinguish them from Bonnie and Freddy. Also unlike the other animatronics who have different themes from each other and have their own stand alone attractions.. Spring and Fred actually share a theme and attraction. They were built with the same theme and color palette becuase they are specifically designed to always be together.

They are like Bonnie and Freddy in that they are best friends. But Bonnie and Freddy can function without each other and can preform in separate attractions. Spring and Fred cannot. They cannot preform while separated.

This inability to separate the two could potentially cause problems.. But mostly it would just mean that Fred and Spring might not be put up on the big stage with the other animatronics for huge performances. Because it could get in the way of the show.. but despite all that they're still kind and trustworthy animatronics and their shows are a hit with the kids.🌟👍🌟

5. the Sidbot AU where Nate, Gabe, and EJ work in a machine repair shop in a dystopian future, all three of them playing beer league hockey (although Gabe also has an OnlyFans), and then one day Mario Lemieux comes into the shop to get Nate to come help train the Penguins' newest hockeybot, who has a whole new software system and needs special care because his hardware is unusual (look. sexbots are cheaper than custom-made hockeybots. S1D is going to be great on the ice, he just needs to have a personal assistant to make sure his prior subroutines don't become a distraction.)

Along with Camilla's and Bunny's, another pov I would love to see is Charles'. He had such a tragic development throughout the book, but we get to know very little about what he actually went through, and it makes it easy to put all the blame on him – of course, he was an abuser and that doesn't change, but it would still be so interesting to actually get his own opinion, without Henry, Camilla or Francis speaking on his behalf. Not to justify him, but just to see things the way he did and get yet another interpretation of the whole story.

We'd get to know what his and Camilla's relationship was actually like – and it would probably look even worse from his perspective. His encounters with Francis, too. He puts the blame on Charles taking advantage of him, even though they were probably both taking advantage of each other in some ways – but we never got to hear how Charles felt about the situation.

We'd get to see him slowly lose his mind to alcohol, and it would probably be even more subtle than how it felt from Richard's pov, making it even the more chilling. Him getting progressively more depressed, more irritable, more violent (and therefore, I believe, more guilty about his own behavior too), to the point of being basically drunk all the time, and feeling like a totally different person to how he was at the beginning.

And then we'd get to see him get more and more paranoid about Henry. I would have loved to see more of their dynamic, because while I've seen some people reducing it to a love triangle with Camilla (?), it wasn't just that, and Charles had quite a few valid reasons to hate him. Henry pulled Charles into the whole mess basically against his will – he was the only one who, more than once, tried convincing the others the murder was a bad idea, and no one listened to him and listened to Henry instead. He was depressed for Bunny's death. He got coerced by Henry to get involved with the police too, having to bear the weight of everyone possibly ending up in jail if he did something wrong.

He realized that all of this was mostly Henry's fault, but then the situation with Camilla came along, and Charles suddenly understood he had just become the next target Henry might have wanted to get rid of – and he even tried to. He had every right being scared of him, but the others barely even believed him. So the paranoia turned into genuine fear for his life, until he eventually snapped, and we know what happened next.

All of this was hidden behind Richard's pov, which definitely made it difficult to understand his actions or how he was feeling. As much as I don't like him as a person, he really grew on me and genuinely became one of my favorite characters. And seeing it all from his perspective would be terrifying.
