Sorry my statement came across as distasteful. I’m bi myself and I didn’t think it through. I guess what I was trying to say is, for years now people have been so adamant about calling Tae specifically “the gay” member when he has really never came out. And at this very point when he’s being seen with a woman, to still say that about him, I find it quite offensive. I’d find it offensive if this case was reversed too.

No worries! Sometimes phrasing things is tough when we're upset. And yes, I personally feel that it is inappropriate to publicly speculate about deeply personal aspects of the lives of others, celebrities included. Writing fan fiction and creating fan art with our imaginations is one thing - everyone knows these don't reflect on their subjects in reality! - but to try to debate and gather proof about things going on in their actual lives and governing their personal realities is overextending. It's really none of our business and could ultimately cause them hardship when such information falls into the wrong hands. Tae has asked us to love him as an idol over and over and we really need to respect him on that, which means boundaries!

members have spoken out abt how borahae belongs to tae and even encouraged him to get his royalties, and in the recent festa video hobi is heard saying borahae is yours but it’s not translated. tae’s fans were right to block the request. if you’re aware of when it was first created u will know what tae was going through back then too. it’s not about hybe vs tae. that video is right in making it clear there is no family relationship between the company and contracted artists. there have been several examples of the company not letting certain members know smth in advance and this is probably one of them. you don’t have to go far to say it’s maliciously intended but just be aware of how the company has started acting in chapter 2, their aim to make up the profit they will inevitably lose when bts are all enlisted. but borahae belongs to tae only. if the company wants to copyrighted that bad they’ll suck it up and ask tae to file the request in his name

So yesterday my little corner of the internet got ugly, and this campaign to cancel a Jikook blogger involves several people that I care about, one of whom is not here to say her piece. This is not just about some differences of opinion - and there are healthy reasons to disagree on everything from how much we analyse and speculate on content, where the lines are on privacy questions, and how best to support BTS. I generally prefer not to give oxygen to toxic behaviour so that it dies a quiet lonely death in its corner, but if we value the community we have here - and I really do - then there are some lines to draw. Here are some that were crossed this week:

Respect. OK, we have strong feelings sometimes, some of us are sassy and use vivid language. But (wow, do I have to say this?) it's not ok to use homophobic or racial slurs. It's not ok to misgender people and use other derogatory language. It's not ok to harass and bully people, and no, blocking people to curate your space is neither of these things.

Lying and making spurious claims. One of the claims made was that 2 bloggers left Tumblr because of a hate campaign against them, instigated by @stormblessed95. I know @serendipitybegins was receiving flack for her numbers theories and she mentioned that's why she was leaving. I haven't gone back to look again at all Storm's post at the time, but even IF she was critical of number theories, she has never directed this to specific people or been hateful about it. I was close to @whysojiminimnida and I can tell you NO ONE KNOWS WHY SHE LEFT. She last posted in late November, including an account of an interaction she had with BTS members, with no receipts. Around the same time Storm answered an ask about rumours in which she was IMPLICITLY critical of this kind of post. A total of 3 comments expressed some concerns, politely, that this was either made up or in breach of privacy. WSJ likely received plenty of critical anons, one of which she answered in her typically unbothered style. Like many comments have mentioned, she was not one to be threatened off her blog. As others mentioned, she had serious health issues. Her last DM to me was early December. We were in the middle of working out the finer design details of a hat I was knitting for her poor chemo-ravaged head. Then I never heard back from her. Trust me when I say that I have tried all legal avenues to find out what happened to her. But for now, I am wearing that damn hat myself. I've called it WSJ's Borahae and it makes me fucking sad that her name is being used in this way right when Hobi leaving for the military is making me sad enough.

Anon, the fact is you have no idea how their contracts are structured. You don't know if each member's contract includes clauses for both group and solo projects and management. You don't know if the contracts are structured collectively or not. You don't even know if another set of contract signings related only to solo careers will be announced when Jin and Hobi are discharged. In fact the only reference to 2Seok in the main press release, is in the signing of the same contract renewals that were announced today, those two singled out only because they cannot physically sign the document until they're out of the military.

And this is aside the fact that BigHit has a fiduciary responsibility to not misrepresent anything about the nature of these contract renewals to their investors. Meaning if they were aware the members are signing solo contracts with other companies, undercutting the exclusivity HYBE enjoys managing the artists that account for 60% of their topline, they could get sued to hell and back by their investors for it.

So, in response to news that the members have agreed to renew with Bighit, you're already filling in the blanks to create a scenario in which the member you want to leave and sign with another company can still do so. I mean, it's possible theoretically speaking, but the point is neither you nor me has any basis or evidence to support that assertion. The member you bias choosing to remain with BigHit to manage his solo career, is an anxiety you have, that you've now created a scenario to soothe yourself.

My little unsolicited advice: It's been a hellish six months. I get it. Many things happened and are still unexplained and people just want the absolute best for the members they love. But these guys are not rookies. The industry is ruthless and corporations have their agendas, but if their company was out to sabotage them, BTS as a group would've been dead in the water long before you ever heard about them (just look at the trainwreck k-pop has been in all year). The members are the only people who know what they want, they have significantly more information about the state of their careers than anybody telling you anything on Tumblr.com. Take a page from our resident muggle Jimin and step away from the internet for a bit.

Stream his music, buy his album for your niece or dad, introduce your friends to those Ethereal Beauty Jimin videos on Youtube.

Hello! Tae's sexual orientation is a personal part of himself that he has not shared with us. I think the concept of "accusing" him of being gay can come across as pejorative towards the LGBTQ+ community (of which I am a part 😊). Like I said before, *whoever* he loves, whoever he chooses for his partner, he should have Army's rooting for his peace and happiness! Also, I find the paparazzi pictures disturbing - I don't feel people should go looking for answers to questions about celebrities' personal lives. Respecting the boundaries of Tae's privacy should be a number-one Army concern.

Were none of these borahae anons on Twitter at the time this all went down? Because I was, and I remember that it was ARMY who brought the situation to Hybe’s attention in the first place. There was an surge of unauthorized Borahae goods popping up everywhere, and the timeline was screaming for weeks about it. Shortly afterward the info came out that Hybe was trying to secure the TM. I swear, some stan’s are so quick to paint the company as a big bad guy, when they were trying to respond to ARMYs outcry in the first place!
