Okay then. Fucking do the work yourself then. Do the bitch work. Do the pipetting. Do all the repetitive, menial work that generates the data and analysis you need for your research. Do all this shit yourself, the stuff you thought “wasn’t so important” but felt the need to open a position, one that requires a degree often, too.

I love being a biology major because all of my professors are fucking nerds I just had a doctor who is teaching me about conservation biology sign off her email with "may the force be with you"

last semester I had a professor that signed all his emails "sessuvium" (which is a species of plant that "goes with the flow" and can grow under intense conditions near oceans in high sodium soil) he also used pokemon in all his powerpoints and talked about his bisexual wizard dnd character while we were out in the field

There are times in college where you just have to cut yourself a break.

I have multiple learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Currently, I have four Cs on my transcript. Four. I hear my neurotypical acquaintances and friends talk about never having below a B- and saying how low their grades are. I know people lie about their grades so I take everything with a grain of salt, but it still hurts when you feel like you're behind your peers.

I'm happy to say I've embraced "Cs get degrees" and I've never failed a class and y'know what, that's sometimes all I can ask for. Even with all the accomodations in the world, I'd still have auditory processing issues, difficulties writing/reading, and mixing up math and chemical equations. The best thing for me would be to either get rid of all tests(impossible) or make every test open note/open book(impossible) so I just try my best.

Getting through academia while ND and physical disabled is difficult. And it's vital to know that sometimes you can only reach good enough.

I feel like on studyblr and in academia you're always comparing yourself with other people, and that's not fair. So a reminder to all my followers, cut yourself a break.

One day I was in the checkout line at Target and the two people in front of my husband and I were arguing about the social-acceptability of bugs.

At some point tensions have risen to the point of needing a neutral-party and they turn to my husband and I and ask our thoughts.

My husband just shakes his head and grins, knowing exactly what's about to happen, and I jump straight into telling these two random people about my collection of various wet and dry specimens and my various entomological courses and how fan-fucking-tastic I think bugs are and how underappreciated they are in this world.

I have never had a stranger smile so widely at me as the pro-bug person did that day.
