Okay, I'm definetly on board with the theory that Carlos is a completely normal scientist, and the weird science we hear in nightvale is just Cecil's brain trying to comprehend what his husband does for work.

💜Please know I am aroace as well. 💜I am in college to study for biochemistry, zoology, and anatomy/physiology. So, I am seeking my education and holding down a part time job, hence why I may not be active sometimes. I am a science major and that leaked over into me being an utter mad scientist.

💜My biggest special interest is anything animal related, specifically herpetology and entomology. Send me pics of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and insects!! I love them. 💜I am the dad to 4 snakes, 2 turtles, and 2 guinea pigs. I foster animals when I can, but for now there is no room.

💜Parasites are another special interest and I collect them. I collect a lot of taxidermy and wet specimens. Heartworms are my favorite parasite and please tell me how they make you feel all squirmy inside.

💜I dress mostly goth or renfest when I can. I am a faerie, vampire, and mad scientist. I engage in tomfoolery and weird behaviors. May this blog be chaotic neutral and shitposty.

My past few days have been busy but ultimately very positive. I saw some friends on the weekend and did my last few discussion posts of the week. Yesterday I got going on this week's readings, went for a run, and practiced violin a little. And ate those delicious tacos!They hit pretty damn well after hunching over a textbook all afternoon.

Today was pretty similar. I read, went for a walk, listened to a lecture, and ended the day with a ballet class.

Tomorrow I plan to

Finish the lectures for the week

Write at least two discussion posts

Go to the gym

Play violin

We'll see if I can get through all that. I've been keeping my very relaxed language practice up as well, but tbh I don't struggle with that habit so I won't always talk about it.

Done: emailed a prof at the grad school I'm waiting to hear from, got on PIs case about sending his damn letter so he doesn't kneecap my shot, language practice, went through another 16 pages of my mother's research proposal (I proofread for her), tutored a high schooler in thermochemistry

Didn't do: gym or violin

20 or so years ago we thought we’d be able to treat all types of cancer. HOW IN THE FUCK MAN

This video referenced this paper talking about how we thought we would be able to just map out like all proteins. Like holy fucking shit man. Like that paper itself is a critique of referring to cells as machines because apperantly cells are just as alive as like ants like what the hell!! (That paper It’s in the references. The info is like pg 291-293) it was just written in 1998 but dude it was like “yeah these cells you should definitely think about them as just machines.

That’s wild enough as is because the world is insane but it gets better. Some YouTube commenter was like “I love how people saw cells and had to compare them to the machine they created in order to wrap their minds around them” WHICH OMG WE CANT EVEN BEGIN TO PROCESS THESE THINGS AND THATS WHY WE THINK THEY MAKE SENSE
