Bakugou with a Genderbent Girlfriend
REQUESTS ARE OPEN. Feel free to send me an ask and I’ll write it for you! Remeber to check the rules first.
Tumblr media
I feel like Katsuki’s girlfriend would be kinda hot-tempered and confident, but more of a goofball instead of mean. You would be on a mission with Katsuki and, I imagine the possibilities of villains having the strangest quirks ever, like infinite possibilities...
Katsuki, Iida, Jirou and You have been assigned to head into this old warehouse, apparently there were a few crooks here selling drugs and other illegal activities. It was supposed to be a pretty easy mission, and for the most part, it was.
Except for one little.. accident...
"FUCK!!"
This wasn't supposed to happen. They were supposed to be in and out of there quickly. Sadly, for Katsuki, one of the crooks there had a gender swapping quirk.  You had stupidly snuck up behind this guy and tried to take him out. You did, but, the guy managed to flash you with his quirk.. you were now a man.
You were VERY ecstatic at this opportunity. Katsuki, on the other hand, was not.
See, Katsuki was currently pissed and worried. One, since you had knocked the guy out, they couldn't get any quirk information out of him until he woke up. Second, what if the quirk was permanent? What if you were a man forever-
"I bet my dick's bigger than yours."
"...What?" He couldn't believe what he was hearing.. What did you say?
"I said, my DICK is probably bigger than yours."
"Y/N, this is NOT the time to be joking around right now."
"I'm not joking, I'm very serious." You had happen to say this in the publicity of your dormitory, meaning the few who were in the common area could very clearly hear this conversation.
"You heard her- HIM." Drop your pants, Suki." This caused a rumble of laughter in the common area. Denki was currently instigating and encouraging this situation to the fullest, earning him a smack on the head from Jirou.
"I don't see what you're so excited about, I mean, what's so special about being a guy?" Shouto had asked.
"You idiot! There are SO many things I can do! Going shirtless, I have more rights, I'm really attractive.. I can beat my-"
"Okay, okay.. I get it." He cut you off before you could finish.
"I mean.. I don't see the problem. I bet you're still attracted to me huh, Katsu?! You like guys, Katsu?" You were still egging him on.
Katsuki was praying for this to end soon.

SMASH
bakugo x gn!reader {platonic}
req: me
desc: reader is bored...reader decides to play smash with bakugo, but he doesn't know what it is. reader makes it their life goal to play at least one round with him
Tumblr media
'ohhhhh bakugooo!~' you barged into his room with a piece of notebook paper and a pencil.
bakugo turned and looked at you in annoyance.
'what the hell do you want, (mean nickname)?'
'i thought we could play a game, since i'm soooo bored!' you closed his door and trotted over to his desk, setting his studying aside and placing the paper down. it had "SMASH" on the top written in red pen.
'can't you fuckin' see i'm studying here!?' he threw his arms up, grabbing his papers.
'set that shit aside for now, fingertips! we're gonna do something that's worth more time.' you moved beside him, perched on the ground as you drew a line under a couple lines and put two bubbles, bakugo's first initial in one, and yours in the other.
'so how the hell do you even play this shitty game?' he put his elbow on the desk, watching the paper.
'you'll see, be patient.' you wrote izuku's name on the paper first. and then iida's, then ochaco's, then finally mina's.
'kay, pick a person on this list.'
'why should i!? i'm not touching that thing if it has damn deku's name on it!'
'JUST FUCKING DO IT BAKUGO.'
'tch, fine. i pick round cheeks.' bakugo rolled his eyes, putting his head in his hands.
you crossed off ochaco's name and put a 'k' next to it, then, you crossed off iida's name and put (your first initial) next to it.
then, you wrote down places.
school, a warehouse, the league of villians hideout, and best jeanists hero training place.
'pick a place, any place sir!' you laughed as you spoke, looking at him with a sly smile.
'fuckin' god, this is so dumb. uh, the league of villians hideout?' he pointed to the paper.
'what the fuck is this even for anyways?—'
'SHUT THE FUCK UP BAKUGO, LET ME WORK MY MAGIC.' once again, you crossed out the l.o.v. hideout and put a 'k' next to it. then you crossed out the warehouse and put (your first initial) next to it.
you wrote down surfaces. table, floor, bed, bench. bakugo read them aloud as you were putting them to the paper.
'what the hell are these options? table? what kinda game are we playing here!?' bakugo ran a hand through his hair. 'if i have to pick again, i'm picking the bed.'
you burst out laughing as bakugo yelled at you.
'oh man, this is gonna be funny...' you did the same routine, line, initial, line, initial.
'aaaalright, final round. I'll FINALLY let you be.'
'oh thank fuck. i'm already tired of your whiny voice.'
finally, you wrote down pro-hero names. mount lady, midnight, miriko, and ryuko. you handed bakugo the paper as he looked at the new scribbles.
'miriko.' he sighed angrily as he handed you back the paper. you didn't even bother to write your answer this time.
'alright alright folks! time for the results!' you stood up, and bakugo turned his chair to look at you.
'bakugo! you would fuck—'
'I WOULD HAH!?! THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY EXTRA!?'
'SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET ME FINISH!' you put a hand over his mouth. bakugo clawed and grabbed at it.
'alright bakugo! you would fuck ochacho IN the league of villians warehouse, on one of the beds! and you would bring miriko along with you.'
you let your hand off of bakugo's mouth and he tackled you to the ground.
'BAKUGO! YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO PLAY!!'
bakugo's hand lit up, rage in his eyes.
'I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!'
the next morning, you woke up on bakugo's floor, your face burnt.
now, bakugo will never play any game you want to play with him.

tw : abuse, misogyny, light mention of blood.
im hormonal so forgive me but scummy husband hawks coming home all tensed and annoyed telling his little housewife to put that mouth of hers to a good use and warm his cock, “go deeper, i can barely feel anything.” and she tries her best but he’s so big she’s close to passing out after just taking him halfway, keigo just watches unamused with his head leaning to his palm in a bored gesture and a rude tch while he forces the back of her head to go even further down, “i work hard all day keeping everyone and the country safe and this is what i get ? a bratty disobedient wife,” his wife struggled to let go, trying her best to answer because he’s drilled it so deep into her pretty head that whenever he speaks, he expects a full reply, knowing further disobedience will make things worse on her side “i-i’m sorry keigo, please let me try again i’ll be good i promise—“ her words got cut off by a harsh yank of her hair, “keigo this keigo that, you talk too much.” he pushes her head back to his crotch and makes sure she takes him all in, making sure her nose tickles his lower pelvis, “careful, if you’re not good enough i can always buy myself a nice whore to fuck,” his words cut right through her heart she thinks it started bleeding too, tears start to form in her eyes and she doesn’t know if it’s from the lack of air or from his words, “got that through your head, little mutt ? that’s the least a good wife can do for her husband.”

"I DON'T FUCKING LOVE YOU ANYMORE! "
A final explosion of arms and a deep voice. One that echos back and silences you both. Now neither of you are yelling as so many emotions dance across the ash blonde's face as he watches the same thing happen to you. Until finally you settle on something that shatters his heart into pieces.
The pieces lodge in his throat like jagged glass causing his words to catch on the shards.
"I-"
Your face is devoid of emotion as you stare him in the face and he sees it. Sees the exact moment you made up your mind, that you didn't fucking love him anymore either. Tears burn his eyes as you speak.
"You made yourself very clear." You turn to give him your back, grabbing your purse and with it your over night bag.
You pause at the door hand holding the jam as you let the last of every feeling you've had for him drain from your body and seep into the hardwood floor.
"You're dead to me Bakugou Katsuki." He wants to say something anything as he watches your back, hands outstretched and yet frozen. Helpless watching as your mouth moves on its own.
"And I do not mourn the dead."
With that you shut the door to leave the only man you ever truly had, or will, love as violent explosions fall on deaf ears.

                     »»————-ᴄʜ2:This Time It’s Different ————-««
⇒ Series: Intro, 1 2 ⇒ My Hero Academia ⇒ Dabi x Reader, Toya Todoroki x Reader ⇒ AU where Toya yoinked Shoto and they ran away from Endeavor’s abuse. Story under cut! (Toya is 16, Shoto is 6) ⇒ Goal: 1.3k words ⇒ Chapter 3 coming soon!! Lmk if you’d like to added to the taglist!! ⇒ Taglist: @ozzy-bozzy @ice-cold-bakugo
Deep in sleep, Toya wakes up to a commotion outside of the hotel room. Opening up the curtains slightly to peak out, he saw the press all trying to get a statement from what he assumes is a Pro-Hero. He moves a bit closer to see who it is, just to see Endeavor’s flames and scowl.
His head turns towards the window which Toya immediately shuts and runs over to Shoto’s side of the bed where their stuff was kept beside him on the floor. He rushed to change into the clothes that you dropped off for him, and he grabbed the burner phone. With shaky hands and a blurred vision, he dials your number while putting on his shoes and slinging all the bags over his shoulders.
You pick up after the 4th ring, your sleepy voice somewhat grounding him. “Toya? What is it? It’s 3am.” You yawned but the hurried shuffles over the phone made you wide alert. “Toya? Is everything okay?” “He’s here, he’s here and I think he saw me.” There was a strain in his voice as a lump rose in his throat. His senses were telling him to calm down, that he needed to escape with Shoto while he still had the chance.
With half a mind, he listened. “He’s at the hotel right now?” Your questions and any form of conversation you were trying to hold with him fell on deaf ears as he carried Shoto down the flight of stairs, and leaving out the emergency side door. Pulling his hood up to cover himself, he waved down a taxi and got in. He told the driver the name of your dorm complex and in a few minutes, he arrived.
“Toya? Please say something!” You were already in your hero outfit, as you fumbled to open your front door. However, it revealed Toya with Sho cradled in his arms. You stare at him in shock, hanging up the phone. “Why did you come here? You guys can’t be here.” He looked at you with pleading eyes. Letting out a sigh, you stepped aside letting him in.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“You’re lucky that tonight’s the last night I have here in Tokyo.” You grabbed some spare blankets, draping them on the ground to create a makeshift bed for them. “Thank you...” You had already changed back into your pajamas and settled into your own bed. “Goodnight guys, you’re safe here.” You ruffled his ink-black hair before turning off the lights and sleeping.
While you were fast asleep, Toya laid on his back, bringing up his left hand igniting a small blue flame. His scowl ran deep at his quirk before disappearing from the fire. He grabbed your phone, pulling up the recent news broadcast.
Endeavor stood in Tokyo, in front of the hotel they were staying at. He spoke about rumors of his sons being spotted in the area, and he had come to Tokyo to confirm or deny such rumors. But him being that close was enough to send Toya into a panic. Now he was a decent distance from the man. Hiding in your dorm room was the last place he would think of, but he was desperate for any kind of safety.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
6am was the time that you shook Toya and Sho out of their sleep. Although the flight was in a few hours, you grew nervous for your friend and Sho. It wasn’t like you could just bring them on the plane with you. They needed tickets as well, and their passports. But then again, Toya had already brought their passports. Maybe it wasn’t too late to purchase one-trip tickets at the airport.
“Good morning,” You smiled cheerfully to him, sitting down beside him on the floor. “Good morning, are we leaving soon?” He tried to rub the tiredness from his eyes but failing to as he still squinted at you.
“Well not yet, I was hoping we could go to the place early to buy tickets for you two. Do you have enough?” It was a dreadful question since he could lack the money. Then again, his father was the #2 Pro-Hero. “I should...” He trailed off, looking over at Sho who was sitting quietly next to them.
“Alright, let’s get going then! There’s a few food joints in the airport so we can eat breakfast there.” Standing up, you pulled Toya to his feet and helped him clean up the makeshift mattresses. Afterward, you led the boys to the shower room to wash up before you guys headed out, as you did the same.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Pulling aside a taxi, the three of you climbed in, as Sho sat nestled in Toya's lap and he held him. "Do you think he knows?" "Probably. There was no way he didn't see me." Though Toya kept pleading in his mind that Endeavor didn't see him in the hotel window last night. For the sake of his safety and Shoto's.
The driver glanced through the rearview mirror at the boys, then at you. "Where to?'' He asked kindly, though his smile uneased you. "Haneda Airport, please." Returning a smile, you looked down and unlocked your phone. Pulling up the daily news to keep an eye on Endeavor's movements, you started scrolling through. It seems as he stayed the night in Tokyo, so something must've caught his interest. Or someone.
Though you didn't want to worry your friend any more than what he currently was. As the dark shadow under his eyes made you feel guilty. They shouldn't have to deal with this, although Shoto seemed unaware.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Within half an hour, the three of you made it to Haneda safe and sound. Thanking the driver and paying him off, you led the boys inside the large building. "We'll purchase the tickets first then go and grab something to eat."
Glancing over at Toya, his cerulean eyes weren't focused on anything. He seemed tired or at least emotionally exhausted. In no time, you two were at the reception desk, Shoto messing around with the strings of his gray University hoodie you let him borrow. It was large on him but it still looked cute.
"Two one-way tickets to Seoul, South Korea please." Toya bid the tickets while you were glancing around at the nearby fast food places. Starbucks, A pizza place, McDonald's, all the popular name brands were here as well. Since you wanted a hot drink, you would opt for Starbucks but since they needed to eat, you decided on McDonald's.
Once Toya paid for the tickets, he handed you them to put in your bag. "I'm going to use the bathroom, just order something for me." He waved you off and headed towards the bathroom. You grabbed Sho's hand, "Come on, we're gonna get some food. You know what you want?" He glanced up at you and shook his head.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
"Don't worry, I'll let you order whatever you're interested in." Making your way to the ordering booth, you began tapping away on the screen. "See anything you like?" "Dad?"
You froze up seeing a shadow tower over you. You doubted that he was close enough, but you still felt the heat radiating off of him. Your eyes darted to the time at the bottom left of the screen. Only an hour until your flight was ready to take off.
Slowly you turned around to be faced with none other than Endeavor. His glare burned into you in more ways than one, seeing you in the airport with his youngest son. "Care to explain?" His voice was low enough for only you to hear. Yet, you had the feeling that he wouldn't let you explain. "I-I..." His presence was certainly intimidating.
Your (e/c) eyes darted around behind him, hoping to see Toya. But what would he do? It's not like he could fight his father in a public setting. It also wasn't like Endeavor could harm them in public as well. The most he could do in this scenario was accuse you of kidnapping them and ruin your spotless Hero-in-training record.
There was nothing you could do as he tore Shoto out of your arms. There was nothing you could do as he walked away, eyes full of fury searching for Toya.
Although, there was one thing you can do.

 Chapter Two: Cold Soba
You had wrapped your arms around your shoulders, holding yourself so that you could calm your beating heart. There was a short break between classes. Uraraka wanted to drop your stuff off in your room, or that’s what you assumed because you ended up at the dorms. Uraraka had her cheeks puffed out the whole way, angry Bakugo had tried to start something with you.
“That jerk, Bakugo. I apologize for how rude he was.”
You smoothed down your hair. “I’m sure he meant well,” you said.
“Don’t defend him. That Bakugo is sometimes the biggest bully. He won’t leave poor Deku alone either.”
“He was just making sure that I had made it in honestly. I’m sure that it’s weird for a foreign transfer student to get into the hero course so easily. The principal had already warned me that this was relatively unheard of.”
“That’s no excuse for him to be so rude,” Uraraka huffed.
“I can’t tell if he’s mean or straightforward,” you said honestly.
“Mean,” Uraraka said flatly. “Definitely mean. Who bullies other people like that?”
You pressed your lips into a firm line, not sure what to say. A part of you understood why Bakugo had asked those things. It wasn’t the first time you’ve been accused of cheating, and you were certain it wasn’t going to be your last. You weren’t going to judge him like others did you so quickly. Everyone is the way they are for a reason.
“Can you open the door?” Uraraka asked.
You realized you’d been standing in front of your door for more than five minutes just thinking, and you quickly fished out your key from your backpack and opened it. You practically bounced inside. The room was bigger than any room that you’d ever had. Your chamber had a simple bed with blue covers, a side table with a UA lamp, a desk, a window complete with a balcony, a fridge, and a small bathroom.
You noticed Uraraka watching you with a smile, and you stopped bouncing long enough to be embarrassed. “It’s perfect,” you said, beaming from ear to ear. “It’s more than I could have hoped for.
“It’s pretty dull right now, but I’m sure that you’ll decorate it to fit you. I would say you’d brighten up the place, but I know how much you like the color blue.” Uraraka found a place to set your bag and then motioned for you to follow her back to the classroom.
You hoped your next class would be a little less eventful that your first, but considering that you transferred to UA, it would be hard to believe that trouble wouldn’t continue to find you.
You and Ochaco made it back just in time for the bell to ring again for your second class of the day. Making sure to avoid eye contact with Bakugo as best you could, you found your seat. Present Mic was the next teacher. He was a lot livelier than Mr. Aizawa, and you loved the subject he was teaching so it made it even more exciting. English had always been your favorite. Nothing felt better to you than diving into the pages of a book and swimming through endless adventures. It got to the point though, after the seventh time you raised your hand, that you received some more than exasperated glares from the rest of the class.
“I appreciate your enthusiasm!” Present Mic boomed, pointing at you with a wide smile. “But, maybe someone else should answer the next question.”
You dropped your hand dejectedly. You hadn’t realized that you were being a little over zealous. Midoriya had answered the literary query on the board, but the rest of the class seemed to drag on, as no one was “willing” to answer any more questions.
You moped through the rest of class, only halfheartedly paying attention, afraid that you might appear too involved again. You were doodling in your notebook when the bell rang, knocking you out of your daydreams. You realized that you had embarrassingly started drawing an assortment of boys you’d run into today, and you were quick to close the front cover.
As the class filed out of the room, you sat there staring at your notebook, a little depressed. You knew that everyone had already left the room, before you were even willing to move from your seat.
“If you knew the answers, I don’t see why you couldn’t have answered all of the questions,” Todoroki said. He had stopped at the door, and now he was staring at you from across the room.
“Everyone needs a chance to participate,” you mumbled, placing your head in your arms and sighing.
“It’s irrational to have students spout inaccurate answers during class because it would just cause confusion.” Todoroki continued to stare at you, watching you carefully, and his eyebrows furrowed. “Are you coming to lunch?” he asked, “I thought you were sitting with us.”
“I don’t know if I’m hungry,” you mumbled. You started gathering your things in a deliberately slow manner. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to be in the company of friends, but you already felt like you’d made things awkward between you and your classmates, and you didn’t want to embarrass yourself anymore. You would be better off distancing yourself now and acting like you did in your classes in America, the outcast.
“You need to keep up your strength for our team-up practice later,” Todoroki said.
“I’ll be fine.” You smiled weakly, standing up a bit awkwardly and waiting for Todoroki to go on to lunch without you, but he didn’t budge.
“You said that if you use too much energy that you would pass out. I don’t want that to happen to you,” he said.
“I didn’t even pack my lunch,” you said, waving your hand.
“That’s why they prep food in the cafeteria. You can at least get some cold soba,” he said.
“Cold soba?” you asked. “What’s that?”
Todoroki’s eyes widened, and he had crossed the room in seconds, standing over you. It wasn’t menacing. He just seemed genuinely surprised. “You don’t know what cold soba is?” he asked.
“U-um, no. I’ve never heard of it before. I don’t think that it’s an American dish.”
The invasive look he was giving you made you nervous, as if he was hanging off of your every word. He was standing way too close to you, and you smelled mint on his cold breath. You leaned back a bit, hoping he couldn’t catch how red your cheeks were getting.
“You have to try it,” he said. He grabbed your hand suddenly, but gently. His grip was loose enough that you could have pulled out of it if you wanted to, but the static shock you felt when his fingers touched yours made you never want to let go. The jolt ran through you all the way to the tips of your hair, making them float again.
“I don’t have any m-money for lunch,” you stammered, barely able to grab your last book off of the desk as you were pulled with him.
“No worries. I’ve got it. No one should ever live a life without being able to try cold soba.”
You caught a glimpse of excitement in his dual-colored eyes, and your brain short-circuited. Up until now, he had more of a stoic and calm expression, showing little more than concern in the tension of his eyebrows. The glow in his face now was something that you wanted to engrave into your memory forever. Was cold soba that good?
His strides were a bit difficult to keep up with, considering how short you were compared to him, but when he realized that he was practically carrying you, he had slowed his pace to match yours. For some reason, Todoroki’s body temperature kept shifting between hot and cold, and your fingers were getting the full experience, eventually tingling from the extreme shifts in the air around him.
“U-um, Todoroki? Are you alright?”
He looked at you quizzically, almost as if he’d pulled himself out from a past memory.  “Yes,” he said, and his vivid expression had dulled behind his mask again. “Why?”
“Well, it’s like your body’s thermostat is broken,” you said. Your eyes fell to his hand.
“I was just thinking about something,” he said. “Sorry, it was…distracting me.” His hand suddenly became warm again, and he gave your own hand a comforting squeeze. “Is that better?” he asked.
You nodded a bit, worried that whatever memory you had brought up for him had made him upset because his expression had gone from excited to stern. He must have felt that you’d grown tense because he asked, “Is this uncomfortable for you?”
“W-what?” you asked.
He paused in the hallway, still holding your hand. “Is holding my hand uncomfortable for you?” His head dropped, and his eyes searched the ground. You could almost see a light pink start to dust his cheeks.
“I haven’t held anyone’s hand, so it’s different,” you said, and immediately felt like smacking yourself for saying something so embarrassing.
Todoroki let go of your hand, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have grabbed it so easily. I also shouldn’t have assumed that you would be okay with it coming from America.”
As he was about to continue walking, you reached out a little too quickly to grab his hand again. You laced your fingers with his, and he spun on you almost immediately, looking at you in shock.
“N-no, it’s okay. I’m just not used to it. I don’t mind holding your hand.” Your whole face was definitely red now. You would have NEVER grabbed someone’s hand like that. It was too forward for awkward you. Todoroki just seemed so disappointed that he’d offended you that you couldn’t help but stop him from thinking that he had. You had to break eye contact with him, but you squeezed his hand to show him that it was okay. “I’d probably get lost getting to the cafeteria if you weren’t holding my hand anyway,” you muttered.
“Okay,” Todoroki said. The same warmth he was radiating moments before slowly came over you again. It was hard not to notice the looks you two were getting when you crossed the large cafeteria. You almost felt like that you should let go of Todoroki’s hand as to not cause gossip, but it seemed that his gentle grip had changed to something a bit more possessive.
You noticed out of the corner of your eye that Midoriya had spotted the two of you and had started choking on his lunch. Uraraka frantically patted him on his back to stop him from choking. Iida was sitting, facing the opposite direction of you. He was lecturing Midoriya about chewing his food more thoroughly and started waving his arms to emphasize his point.
It was about this time that you realized Todoroki had already purchased the two trays of food and had let go of your hand so that you could carry your tray back to the small group of friends. Midoriya wouldn’t look at you when you both sat across from him. His face was as red as a tomato.
Iida adjusted his glasses when you sat down, curious about the new face at the table. When he realized it was you, he suddenly looked very focused. “Might I say, your quirk is absolutely exceptional? I have never known an individual to have so many possibilities when it came to their powers. What are your parents’ quirks? It has to be a combination of both of theirs,” he said curiously.
You felt cold, but had expected this question to come up at some point. “T-thank you,” you said. “But, my parents don’t actually have quirks—”
“What?!” Midoriya practically shouted. His embarrassment had completely dropped from his expression.
You felt your walls coming up, and you glanced at Uraraka who looked a bit uncomfortable at the topic as well. You rubbed your arm, wondering if you were ready to talk about such a sore subject so easily. Your parents had both been born quirkless, but somehow…you weren’t. It was rare for people to not have quirks, but it was even rarer for those two same people to have a child with such a powerful quirk. It was very difficult for you growing up because neither of your parents were able to help you on your path. You had to figure things out mainly on your own. Uraraka was helpful in nurturing your love for heroes and your acceptance of your power. It was lucky that your parents had been such good friends; if they had not been, you were sure that you would have kept your powers subdued. Your parents were not as supportive of you becoming a hero because of the danger. They were originally against you going to UA as well. In fact, you had to beg them to take the entrance exam with the conditions that if you failed, you were never to discuss the subject of becoming a hero again.
“I’m an anomaly.” You smiled awkwardly, staring down at the table. “They say my quirk is called Mind,” you said, shifting the subject a bit. “They also say that I could gain more power with more practice.”
Todoroki’s leg brushed up against yours, and you looked up at him. His eyes were staring into yours, almost as if he was trying to comfort you without words.
“Well, it’s certainly an amazing gift,” Iida said, seemingly unfazed by the tension.
You cringed at the word “gift,” but tried your best to cloud the harsh memories of your past. You observed the daunting assortment of food in front of you. There wasn’t a fork, just chopsticks, and there were three separate dishes, one with noodles topped with strips of seaweed, one with green stuff, and one with a black looking liquid. You turned your face up to Todoroki in a panic. “How do I eat this?” you asked.
All four classmates looked at you at the same time, and you had to use every ounce of pride you had left not to groan out loud. If you didn’t die of utter embarrassment by the end of the day, it would be a miracle.
Todoroki cleared his throat to get your attention back up to him. He held up his chopsticks slowly and in the proper manner. He took the green stuff from the little tray and put it in with the dark liquid and mixed it together, then he took a good amount of noodles up with his chopsticks, dunking it in the juice and holding it under his face. He then proceeded to slurp up the noodles. He motioned for you to do the same.
“Do I have to slurp it up like that?” you asked making a face.
Uraraka stifled a giggle, and Todoroki furrowed his brow at her. “It means that it’s good,” Todoroki said defensively.
“O-okay.” You carefully and shakily went through the same motions that Todoroki did, but when you were trying to get enough noodles on your chopsticks, they kept slipping from them before you could get it over the cup of liquid.
You sighed in frustration, wondering if anyone would notice if you used your quirk to pretend that you were able to successfully pick up the noodles. After all, the three others at the table had lost interest in your attempts and had already started discussing a quiz that they had had the previous school day. Todoroki seemed to be the only one still patiently waiting for and watching you.
“You need to hold your chopsticks like this,” Todoroki said. You looked over at his slender, elegantly placed fingers, but your own failed to make the same gesture.
You pouted out your lips, ready to throw in the towel, but your stomach growled before you were able to. Todoroki stood from his chair, first checking to see if anyone was watching him, and then placed his hand over yours, adjusting the chopsticks so that they sat properly in your now trembling hand. Your heart was pounding in your chest, and as his chest brushed your back, your whole body nearly jerked.
“Just like that,” he whispered. His warm breath lingered near your ear like a fiery ghost, before he sat back in his place next to you.
For a moment, you couldn’t move. Your hands were stuck in the very position that Todoroki had placed them. The warmth of his body hovered over you like a warm blanket that you didn’t want to shrug off.
Midoriya had stopped conversing with the other two at the table, looking between you and Todoroki. He opened and closed his mouth, but then went back to eating his food. The slurp of more noodles beside you was the only thing that had shaken you out of your trance. You tried picking up the noodles this time and did so with ease, almost dropping them when you wanted to celebrate the small victory by jumping from your chair. You stayed in your seat, however, and you dunked the noodles as Todoroki had done. Despite every fiber of your being telling you otherwise, you slurped up the noodles.
Your eyes widened as you chewed. Todoroki waited expectantly. You could feel his eyes watching every move of your body. It was startlingly delicious. Earthy flavored tones tickled the back of your throat, and the cold noodles felt comforting against your rising body temperature. You’d never had cold noodles before, well, other than that time you ate cold spaghetti because you were too impatient to heat it up, which ended up gross, but these…the flavor was amazing. A wide grin spread over your face as you went for a second helping, making an even louder slurping noise than before.
“Todoroki!” you said, having finished your next bit.
The whole table turned to you again, and you shrank in your seat.
“This is so good,” you muttered, carefully taking another bunch with your chopsticks and slurping them up.
“I’m glad,” Todoroki said. A small smile splayed on his lips.
You paused, taking in his features with the intention of keeping that smile tucked in your memories. “Thank you,” you said, sincerity striking your voice like a match and heating up your entire face into a warm blush.
Midoriya started poking his index fingers together muttering something illegible to himself, before looking between the two of you again. “You two seem to be getting along pretty well,” he said shakily.
Uraraka elbowed Midoriya in his arm, and he let out a small yelp. “What was that for?” he asked.
“So, what? Isn’t that a good thing?” Uraraka asked, puffing out her cheeks.
Midoriya scratched the back of his head. You and Todoroki simultaneously slurped up noodles, causing Iida to look over at the two of you with a scowl.
“She’s never had cold soba before,” Todoroki said plainly as if that should explain everything.
Midoriya’s face went blank, and he was at a loss for words again. He frowned, thinking again. “They just seem so close is all. It’s like they’ve known each other for a long time.”
“Ooh, maybe they have!” a girl with pink skin interrupted. Her dark alien-looking eyes had your attention immediately. “What if they were reincarnated lovers from a time long ago?! How romantic?” The girl placed both of her hands under her chin and sighed dreamily.
You recognized her from class, but you didn’t know her name. Todoroki had looked away from you after she’d spoken, and you tried to hide your face in your hands, realizing that she had essentially said that Todoroki and you could potentially be made for each other.
“Goodness, Mina. You’re going to spread gossip saying things like that,” Uraraka scolded.
“Nothing’s wrong with a little gossip,” Mina said, closing one eye and pinching her fingers close together. “Anyways.” She popped her lips. She leaned in between you and Todoroki, turning her head so that your eyes met hers. “I’m here to apologize for Bakugo’s behavior earlier. Kirishima would have come over himself, but he’s still trying to calm the brute down. He can kind of get out of hand at times.”
You lowered your chopsticks, suddenly losing your appetite.
“What happened between her and Bakugo?” Todoroki’s voice had suddenly deepened and had an unfamiliar chill to it.
Mina leaned back, and you could see the anger written all over his face. You swallowed dryly.
Mina placed her finger to her chin in thought. “I wasn’t there, but from what Kirishima said, Bakugo had started questioning her about how she was able to make it into the hero course and if she’d cheated. Well, and you know Bakugo, he got a little physical—”
Todoroki slammed his hand on the table, startling everyone as he stood from his seat. “And no one told the principal?” he asked. His attention turned to the room. His eyes scanned the cafeteria, like he was looking for someone.
“Todoroki?” you squeaked, realizing that the situation had become difficult.
Todoroki turned to you as soon as you had said his name. His aggressive posture relaxing a little. Mina took a step back from the table. She had a “don’t kill the messenger” kind of look on her face, and she was swaying forward and back from heel to toe, biting her lip.
“Did he put his hands on you?” Todoroki asked you.
You opened your mouth to respond, but the look on his face frightened you a bit. He looked more than just upset. He looked furious.
“I’m sure this is just a misunderstanding,” Iida said, trying to deescalate the situation.
“Did he put his hands on you?” Todoroki asked you again. The temperature in the room grew unbearably cold, and frost was slowly crawling down Todoroki’s left side. The room shifted to an uncomfortable hot again, and the ice disappeared into wisps of smoke just as fast. Todoroki’s powers were shifting like they had when he had remembered something while holding your hand. It seemed you weren’t the only one whose quirk reacted to your emotional state.
You looked up at him pleadingly, but he was still waiting for an answer. You took in a shaky breath, hoping that you would choose your own words carefully. “He was just trying to make sure that I got into the class honestly.” Your bottom lip started to tremble, and you felt hot tears forming in the corners of your eyes. You hated conflict, and you didn’t want anyone to fight, especially over you.
“She already took care of it. Bakugo grabbed her, and she slammed him against the wall. Kirishima stepped in right after. If we said anything, they’d both have gotten in trouble,” Uraraka said.
An unnatural noise of surprise came from Iida’s throat, and Uraraka gave him a warning look. Iida adjusted his glasses, and he excused himself from the table. It was evident that he did not want to implicate himself in the situation any further.
A complex expression seized Todoroki. He scanned your expression, and the tears that had been barely staying in your eyes slipped down your face. You wiped your closed fist over your cheeks, hoping to hide the fact you were crying. Todoroki’s eyes softened slightly. The temperature in the room became normal again. Guilt washed out the color in his face.
“He shouldn’t have put his hands on you regardless,” Todoroki said, sitting back in his chair. His muscles were still tense. “He better not even think of doing it again.”
The air became a sickly cold, and your teeth chattered slightly.
“So…” Mina said uncomfortably. “Sorry,” she said shortly. She turned away again, making her way back to her table where a blond kid and a black-haired kid greeted her with carefree smiles. Two seats were eerily empty at their table.
“Kacchan confronted you?” Midoriya asked in confusion.
Todoroki clenched his teeth beside you. Uraraka nudged Midoriya with her elbow again, and he yelped.
“W-what?” he stuttered.
“We’re not talking about it anymore,” Uraraka said. She picked up her empty tray. “Think? Do you need me to take you back to the training grounds?”
You looked down at your food, which you hadn’t finished yet, and you felt guilty considering that Todoroki had bought it for you. “I-I think I can manage.” You couldn’t though. You knew as soon as you left the cafeteria that you’d spend at least thirty minutes trying to figure out how you ended up at the dorms but not even close to where you needed to be.
“I’ll walk with her,” Todoroki said.
Uraraka nodded, putting her tray up and leaving the hall. Todoroki stared at Midoriya until he started to squirm under his gaze.
“I-I should probably prep for our team-up move,” Midoriya said, stepping away as well.
This left you and Todoroki at the table, alone. You sat in silence. It wasn’t uncomfortable. It was just calm silence, as if the two of you were content sitting by each other. The only noise being the background chatter and the occasional slurp of noodles. Todoroki was the first to break the peace. Just as he finished his cold soba, he sighed.
“I don’t like him,” Todoroki said. “I’ve always thought Bakugo was a temperamental brute. Whether he means well or not, a man should never lay his hands on a woman aggressively. We’re not talking about training or a hero fighting a villain. We are talking about two classmates. He should have never touched you.”
You rubbed your arm, feeling the doubt clawing at the back of your head again. “Bakugo was just—”
“If he ever attacks you again, come get me,” Todoroki said. His fist clenched on the table, and you felt him shaking slightly beside you. “Tell me if something like that happens to you again. Okay?”
“You don’t need to say that,” you said softly. “I can handle that kind of stuff on my own. I’ve always dealt with…” you trailed off, putting down your chopsticks. “What I’m trying to say is you don’t have to feel obligated to worry about me.”
“I want to help. No one deserves to be bullied. Please tell me if something like that happens again,” Todoroki said. “I want to be your friend, and friends don’t let other friends get bullied.”
You felt the tears threatening to fall again, and you bit into your lip. You managed a strained smile, brushing some strands of your hair behind your ear. “You want to be friends?” you asked in a small voice.
“I’m not very familiar with having friends, but if you’re willing to give me a chance, I think that I’d like to be yours.” Todoroki started taking the items from your tray and placed them on his. He shifted your tray under his, sliding them both to the end of the table and observing you with sincere eyes.
“B-but…why?” you asked, genuinely confused. You felt that all you’ve done so far was cause Todoroki trouble, not to mention he’d already had to lead you to the cafeteria and pay for your food. You’d just met today. What made him possibly want to be your friend?
“I think you’re nice,” he said simply, “And, I think you’re genuine. You can’t be all that bad if you like cold soba.”
“I would like to be your friend too,” you said. You felt calm, no quirk outbursts, no emotional mood swings. For once, you finally felt content.
Todoroki smiled, and he placed his hands on his knees. “Good then. We’re friends. Midoriya says friends exchange numbers.” He held up his phone and slid it over to you, opening the contacts.
“Midoriya?” you asked.
“He was my first friend,” Todoroki said but paused. “Don’t tell him that though.”
“Oh.” You clicked your number into his phone, almost as if your motions weren’t your own. “I won’t.” You smiled up at him.
He stood from the table collecting the trays in his hands. “I’ll text you later then,” he said.
“I’d like that,” you said, finally realizing he’d dropped the subject of Bakugo all together.
The two of you made your way from the cafeteria, heading to your next class, and one of the hardest training sessions you’ve ever had.
