Like many autistic people, I sometimes miss jokes, and because I'm so worried about this, I sometimes overestimate when people are joking, like when my friend told me her dog died.

It turns out she was fully serious. But imagine how embarrassing it would have been if she had been joking and I thought she wasn't! Glad I avoided that!

BTW if you criticize aspie surpemcy but your silent on the medical model of disability, your not a ally to autistic people.

If you think autism is always a disability 100% of the time and you think disability is 100% biological your not a ally of disabled people.

If you don't understand that there are many reasons why society might decide something is a disability outside of a medical problem that is inherently harmful to the disabled person your not a ally to autistic people.

So ableism detected at level ones is disguised as criticism of aspie surpemcy. Biological essentialism has no place in the disabled community.

So, I've learned that the idea of "Autism is a superpower" is apparently aspie supremacy. I asked why it was considered that and instead of explaining calmly, someone replied in all caps and gave me a panic attack (which I'm having as we speak lol).

I can understand how it can be aspie supremacy, if you claim it as an overall thing. But to me, it feels ableist to tell someone that they can't call their autism a superpower. It feels like they're saying that I'm not allowed to be happy to be autistic, because a lot of Autistic people don't like being Autistic. They said it undermines the struggles of autistic people with high support needs, but I have many high support needs friends who love it because it makes them feel good.

Like I said, I can see how it can be an issue, but I also think that if you tell someone they're not allowed to say that because other people suffer, then that's silly. I'm allowed to see my autism as a superpower. I'm still disabled, and it still makes life harder for me, but I should be allowed to see my autism as a positive.

What do you guys think?

Neuromedicalist will be like: autism has down sides and then list a lot of things which are not autism fault like the low employment rate, intolerance of special areas of interest, not having access to your safe foods and a society that feels entitled to none verbal communication.

Some of you have very noticeable internalized ableism and it fucking shows. Many of you conflate criticism of the medical model of disability with aspie surpemcy while at the same time not understanding what the medical model and social model is.

You're an ableist if you don't understand how socially constructs disabilities and your militantly against the concept.
