As an art therapist, I would like to remind you, that it is the process that is important. Just like kids, give a natural approach to art. Enjoy the creation, movement of the brush, energy of the colour and feel of the art supply. PROCESS ART is mainly to focus on how you feel when you make that art and hear the voice inside your head when it talks to you. The final outcome can be left it as it is, hung on a vision board with a pin or simply thrown away. Just like once the fun while painting is achieved, kids dont care about it. Currently crowd-funding for my MA in Art Psychotherapy, which I will need to qualify and work for the NHS, Social Services, and educational establishments - link in bio. Thanks to Grayson Perry’s Art Club, I started doing some more visual art whilst recovering from Covid. I think it has helped me take things a bit slower (since the doctor told me I was rushing into exercise and that I need to recover more… oops!) I’ve been listening to a few podcasts on Art Therapy too, trying to take the focus away from concerns about how “good” it is and focus more on enjoyment and the moment. I find it hard to relax, but visual art can be really helpful in this way. However, Art Therapy is a lot more complex than that and can help with depression and anxiety associated with trauma, cancer patients, prison inmates, and people who suffer from a range of psychological problems. I need to raise funds as I am ineligible for a government loan and getting another kind of loan is proving to be difficult. A few early donors have given £20-50, but really every little helps! I currently have 1177 followers on Instagram, 2080 on Twitter and 1517 friends on Facebook. If I average this to 1591, then if everyone donated £5 I would be able to pay for my first year. If everyone donated £10, I’d be able to pay for two years. And if everyone donated £20, I’d be able to afford for all three years! If you’re able to donate, you can also do so anonymously (though I would love to thank you!) and either way, if you’re able to share it, it could really help more than you may know! Others have raised around £10,000 doing this, and although part of me is embarrassed to ask, I can’t rely on the one studentship that is offered. My first #arttherapy session : I’ve been tutoring one wonderful child as of late. At first, simply to help him with his homework But I soon found out the truth The Boy has no school problem He’s just #autistic What a chance 🥲 So am I. So I connect with Him Relate to Him Form a Bond with Him I wasn’t there solely for the homework anymore. I was there for Him. Simple as that. I haven’t seen Him in a while 2021…2022, it’s been rough ! I know, because I felt it too 🌸 So I asked his Mother, bless Her heart 💜 If I could do something special with him today : I asked if, after we were done with the homework, she would alloy me to perform a #artherapysession with Her Son. I could feel his pain. She could feel his too. She’s a #mother after all. So she agreed. And what happened next … I’m still breathless. I’ll spare you the details and our intimacy But this Kidd was grieving the absence of his brother And through #art He managed to say “Hey Brother, I miss you, but I’m doing amazing on my side, so come play !” All of this, without saying a word.
