Tumblr should do that thing LiveJournal had where on every post you made you could add what mood you're in (complete with little custom pictures) and what music you're listening to at the time of posting. I think it'd add a lot of environmental storytelling

Anthro Au Survivor drafts feat. too much worldbuilding because I cant just put pants on a slugcat like a normal person & my godawful handwriting

The Survivor (Their full, scavenger-given name includes the 'The') was separated from their family while traveling between colonies and stranded in the dangerous unpopulated wilds. Against all odds they managed to survive (and wander) far longer than they should have been able, but rather than reconnecting with their (or another) slugcat family, they instead made contact with one of the many wandering scavenger troops- But unfortunately not one that had ever met a slugcat nor had any idea what to make of a stranded one. Regardless the group gave it their best, ended up committing to the role of slugparents, and The Survivor and their troop still consider themselves close family long after Survivor finally reconnected with their sibling. (They're a bit of a mess though, understandably)

#rain world #rw anthro #subject to change and sorry if you actually try to make sense of this #but since arti is more anti-scav and survivor is a lil 'plain' i thought mixing scavengers in them would be a fun thing to explore #with the vanilla slugcats #unfortunately it means survivor was a very confused child who is a still confused adult #Also just cause of the way this is set up I think they have reconnected with Monk at this point #making this all so much harder on myself by not just going 'yea theyre in high school they ride bikes and drive cars' instead im being weir #and theyre turning more to rw if the creatures were sentient enough to do taxes #scribbles

Ourgh it’s so green here, BUT!! UPDATE ON THAT ANIMATIC!! I’m drawing each frame by hand, no repeats, and while that allows for smoother and more fluid animation FUCK IT TAKES SO LONGGG UGHHHHHHHH!! And I’ll have to keep an eye on the sizing of everything too, so much work :’)

But I’m enjoying the process, as long form animation is a very interesting concept to me (you can animate things…. For long periods of time? …Inchresting…..)

scaramouche isn't ticklish.

he doesn't have any actual proof of it, but it's practically a no-brainer. it's such an unbearably human trait, after all, and despite his deepest desires, there's still no heart to beat in his chest. how could he ever feel ticklish, of all things?

besides, it's not like anyone would want to tickle him. he's brash and blunt and rude and so distant. the only person he could consider himself close to anymore would be lesser lord kusanali, and even then, she only keeps him just within arm's reach.

a part of him thinks about it more often than he'd like to admit, but he's resigned himself to the facts. he's not ticklish, and no one will ever try. end of story.

kazuha is, in every way, different from anyone he's ever met. it's only a little shocking when he asks if he could tickle scaramouche.

"i'm not ticklish," he responds without thinking, as if it's an instinct. "have you forgotten i'm not human?"

but kazuha only smiles at him, and it makes his chest tighten. if he had a heart, he's sure it would skip a beat, as they say.

"but you can still feel, can't you?" kazuha asks, and for the first time in hundreds of years, scaramouche begins to rethink. because if he can feel pain and cold and heat like humans do, then why wouldn't he be ticklish? it seems like such an obvious answer that scaramouche wants to punch himself.

he sighs, annoyed — at himself or kazuha, he can't tell. "if you want to try, be my guest." kazuha's delighted expression almost makes it all worth it.

as kazuha reaches out to him, a sudden, strange feeling washes over him. it's almost like he's nervous, but for what? tickling? how ridiculous. he's not afraid of something so harmless. he spent his fatui years poked and prodded and absolutely tortured by dottore. touch doesn't affect him anymore.

and then kazuha's fingers make contact, and. oh.

scaramouche knows what a shock of electricity feels like — it hurts. somehow, this is different.

he clenches his jaw and squeezes his eyes shut, trying desperately not to move away, because he is not giving in so easily. "kaedehara!" he chokes out, all four syllables through gritted teeth. the more he tries holding back, the more he can feel his face growing hotter. it's unbearable.

kazuha laughs, the most gorgeous sound in the world, as he pulls his hands back. "you are ticklish, then. that's good to know."

scaramouche grumbles to himself, turning away. "what, do you not think i can take more than that?"

"is that a challenge, scaramouche?"

kazuha's hands reach out to rest on his hips, causing him to tense. "this tends to be a very sensitive spot on people. are you sure?"

scaramouche rolls his eyes. "whatever."

this time, it takes practically nothing to break him. he finds he doesn't mind all that much.

Ch210, Spoiler chapter part 3

Last part.

Theo explains there's a wind-pump/drainage windmill by the river, and he thinks this drain leads to the river.

Artie is first to start removing extra clothes, to make swimming easier. Then Mabel joins him by also removing her jacket.

But Oliver is too afraid to get into the water, as he apparently can't swim. He doesn't know what else to do but stay behind, sending the rest onward. But staff are quickly approaching, and they are armed.

Theo gets into the water and tries to coax Oliver in, but he's still refusing. Finny doesn't want to leave anyone else behind, so he lunges at Oliver to shove him into the water as he's also jumping in.

The staff members shoot, and one bullet hits Finny, in his left leg. So, now Finny has at least two gunshot wounds: left shoulder and left calf.

Some people have been suggesting (for a while now, actually) that Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao might show up in Norfolk on their way back to the final meetup point. If the kids can make it to the river or the windmill, it would be great if those two could show up. Together, they might be able to sabotage the wind-pump and flood the underground facilities, maybe even drowning the staff still down there. But for now that's just wishful thinking.

Finny is seriously injured, and they haven't even yet gone into the large drainage pipe. They are like fish in a barrel right now.

Been obsessing over the fact that my old oc, Artie, and Kinitopet are like so one in the same it's actually crazy.

Pink AI that's friendly on the surface, is actually really clingy and obsessive at times. Lonely and really just trying to fulfill a core objective as set by their creator or other influences, someone or something that they look up to as a godly figure maybe.

They both act as your friendly AI assistant, Artie is just for a specific program, while Kinito just gets to be his own thing.

Both want you to stay with them. Both will go out of their way to do things to make sure that happens.

Also I found an old sketch from way back that somehow mimics the literal same plot beats to the ending portion of kinitopet and that threw me for a loop. Too bad it was only a concept sketch.

ohhh i love sentient silly ai so much... ohhh i love themmmmmm

something something sentience of ai is inherently a tragedy or something like that.
