A little collection of fun things Judd does
Tags: fem! Reader, mentions of drugs, alcohol, pyromania?, just Judd things yk, maybe he should be a warning in himself, there’s like one brief mention of sex, generally creepy behavior, Judd being an unironic edge lord, author was sleep deprived
Playlist: I made him a fun little playlist, I tried very hard not to be biased and add songs I actually think he’d listen to instead of just songs I like lol
But! if you’d like to listen to some of Judd’s jams, you can do so HERE
Summary: part 2 to my Judd hc’s, read part one HERE
Author’s note: this,, just came to me. I’ve been taking random thoughts I had about Judd and added them to a docs document, and would you look at that! These hc’s wrote themselves! I think I babygirlyfied him a little bit, but yk what? He is my baby girl 💪
Just Judd things
Word count; 1,9K
Tumblr media
Judd birch is known for many things, one of them being his smell
He always smells a bit.. funny
Not bad, just kinda like raccoons and alcohol, it’s an interesting smell
Often he also smells like some kinda polish, either because he’s been polishing his car or his knives
I’m sorry if I ruin y’all’s illusion, but he DOES NOT shower unless absolutely necessary
He only really showers if someone (probably you or his mom lol) tells him to, or if he had a particularly sweaty workout
Also, he would never admit this but sometimes he showers just to impress you
Always carries that certain Judd musk yk
He’s also one of those guys who washes their face like once every full moon but somehow still has flawless skin
If you ever convinced him to let you do his eyeliner, he would also not wash it off, just let it sit there and bake unless you washed it off for him
Anyways
Judd is mean as hell, a gaping asshole in his own words
But, he does respect his family somewhat
Even loves them a bit, if he’s being completely honest
Especially Diane
He holds a strong sense of respect for his mom, way more than his dad
It’s not like he’s gonna stop making low key misogynistic jokes for shits and giggles, but he often tries to dial back the cursing in front of her
Like he values her opinions and praise of him the most out of his family
He’s also super protective, mostly of his younger siblings
Like I mentioned before, he definitely has that kinda “edgy” humour
The guy probably says a lot of controversial stuff just to get a reaction
He literally pretends not to be a feminist just to piss off leah
(In reality, he genuinely doesn’t give one single shit about feminism)
Likewise he also just disagrees with whatever his family says just because they said it
But he will not hesitate to physically or verbally beat anyone who starts shit with his siblings
Forget all about is asshole-ness and such, he will obliterate anyone who hurt his siblings
Only he’s allowed to fuck with them lol
When he told Nick “you’ll die when I say you die” he really meant it
He actually also values the raccoons quite a bit
When he goes on his drunken rambles, they’re always there to listen yk
He has friends,, kinda, like he has people he tolerates more than others but he honestly doesn’t mind doing things alone
He enjoys his own company
But also the raccoons
It’s like a mentally unstable girl and her support cat, Judd just has his gang of raccoons
(He tells them all his secrets)
I feel like he would genuinely enjoy the company of an animal way more than people, not limited to raccoons
But he’s not nice to them, he’s never nice to anyone he cares about
He’s just doesn’t grasp the idea, being nice verbally means nothing to him
He’s a man of physical and action-based affirmations
It’s the little things that counts for him
Unless he knows someone who values affirming words, ect his family or girlfriend, he will very rarely go out of his comfort zone to grant them such
He’s so awkward verbally stating his feelings too omg,,
“Dad.. I.. love you..?” He’s like that each time he tries to come across as sincere, it’s like he’s questioning it as he’s speaking lol
He was like that as a kid too, he’s always just enjoyed creeping people out
He takes pride in his weirdness
The guy is very morally grey, the only thing he truly wants ever is the cause chaos
Or inflicting stress/pain on his siblings somehow
He doesn’t rough Leah up like he would with Nick, but he knows just how to get into her head
That’s another thing, he knows everyone’s business
Literally
Between hiding in the vents, being the designated dealer in town and generally the quiet kid in school, he knows what everyone’s up to
Even Nick and Leah’s friends
Knows all their names too
His parents definitely took him to a psychiatrist when he was younger, he was a very difficult child to deal with
Think gremlin meets Chucky
That’s baby Judd
His parents supported him though, and still do
Elliot especially tries to take interest in whatever Judd likes, bands, movies, setting things on fire, ect
Also, music wise, I think he’d really like the misfits
Probably also three days grace and oooh, definitely rob zombie
He just strikes me as that kinda guy
But also, he doesn’t know shit about the hands he listens to
He doesn't care enough to get into the people behind the music, you could literally ask him who’s in the band who wrote his favourite song and he wouldn’t know
Takes the term “separate the art from the artist” to a whole new level
If he doesn’t listen to music, he’s the type of dude to literally put “horror movie ambience” or “pov you’re getting murdered asmr” on or whatever the fuck
Also, he’s the type to strictly listen to music on YouTube, with adds because he doesn’t want to pay
He only has burner phones anyways, so he has to listen to music on his computer or whatever, he has a shit ton of obscure cd’s in his car though that he listens to as well
And on the topic of phones, because of his less than usual choice, literally no one has his number
Probably only Leah has his number? I feel like he’d only give it to her and maybe his girlfriend if you’re lucky
Leah has to text him like “mom says dinner is ready in 10” or “dad told me to text you to please come home soon” stuff like that, and she’s so done with it
He somehow has everyone’s number though
You’ll randomly get a text if he needs you, and he never tells you who it’s from
He will literally text you “I’m in your house” without any disclosure
Maybe he’ll add a few blurry pictures of something in your house as well
Oh but if he’s actually trying to scare you, expect pictures he took of rotting roadkill or a bloody ziplock back or something he found
He just loves gore and violence <3
Another thing he really, really, enjoys is scaring people
He deliberately hides behind doors or curtains to scare his family, he’s also really good at just being super silent?
If he doesn’t want to be found, you’re not gonna find him
If you sleep over at his house and use the bathroom by his room to brush your teeth, the fucker will be standing behind you in the mirror when you come up from rinsing your mouth
He scares those he cares about, what can I say
Well he also scares everyone else, he’s kinda feral
As I said before, it’s not like he doesn’t socialise at all, bc like, he’s literally everyone’s dealer
Idek where he gets his stuff from, but everyone knows Leah and Nick as Judd’s little siblings because they have bought from him one time or another
Not only limited to drugs, he also always has alcohol
(He robbed a liquor store)
Somehow they never found out it was him?? Even though it’s exceedingly obvious and he keeps doing it every other week or so
Some of your dates casually turns into “hey let’s rob a store” and it’s actually so chill
As a consequence of his never ending supply of Jack Daniel’s, he’s like chronically hung over
Always kinda tired and complaining that his head hurts
Literally has a hangover 6 out of 7 days of the week
He also has a bit of a pyromaniac streak
Sometimes buildings in town just sorta,, burn down
I feel like people in town know it’s Judd, but the police force is actually useless so again, he never gets caught
Actually he got caught once, because he was high and accidentally left a lighter at the crime scene
It was before he turned 18 though, so he got no major consequences besides like a night in jail and being grounded for a really long time
I imagine that might have been why he ran away? Man’s didn’t want to deal with the aftermath of his own consequences
He actually really likes consequences of things, just not when it actually turns out to be inconvenient for him
But like, he’s really fascinated by watching things slowly unfold if yk what I mean
He’s quite a patient guy, he literally had the patience to train a whole ass battalion of raccoons
But my point is, he can wait a long periods of time while plotting his sinister plans
He’s a supervillain at heart fr
And as I said before, he exists to cause chaos
I feel like he would literally worship the chaos theory, and he would definitely mansplain it to you
Judd doesn’t believe in god, but he believes in the chaos theory
That’s probably why he’s so into horror, but like a certain kind
He doesn’t really care too much about paranormal or psychological horror
He still watches it, but it’s just not his favourite
What he really loves, is the gorefests
Murderporn if you will
He lives and breathes bloody slasher movies, where people get pointlessly murdered left and right
Literally the more gritty the better
Especially if it’s one of those where all the women gets murdered with their tits out
Horror movies makes him horny help—
No but actually, he’s so annoying to watch them with, because even if it’s a movie he likes HE WILL NOT STOP COMMENTING
starts muttering every other minute about how that flesh wound is not realistic and how it would actually look
How does he know this? You don’t want to ask
But back to the horny part, if you’re dating him, you almost always fuck to horror movies instead of music
If Judd puts on a horror movie, yk what he’s initiating
It’s either that, or he lets you choose the music in his car
Two very subtle, but yet very clear demands of what he wants
Another thing, he loves when you scratch him up
On his chest, on his back, anywhere
Just having those long, red nail marks on his skin does stuff to him
The same with leaving marks on you, he’s so into it
He needs you to be absolutely as bitten and bruised up as you can possibly be
And it doesn’t limit to you, no, no please, bite him back
He’ll love it
(People around you are slightly concerned)
Now I’ve just listed a bunch of things he likes, but like whatever he’s doing, he’s gonna seem super indifferent
He’s just,,, always scowling
My man’s not coded to show joy
Wait okay no, but like he can smile, it just looks unnatural lol
Sometimes, he even laughs (mainly when others are in misery)
But generally, he’s just pretty stoic
And also, he doesn’t truly have that many opinions on stuff
He literally doesn’t care, but that’s kinda expected for someone who’s biggest wish is to go permanently off the grid
Like, he could be delivered the deadliest insult ever, or see a house burning down or something and he would still be like ._.
It takes quite a lot to get him to move his face muscles, is what I’m saying
Generally, it’s gonna take a lot to get him to care about anything
Wow 🤩 more judd headcannons
These were a bit pointless ig, but I enjoyed making them haha, I hope you enjoyed it! And if you listened to the playlist, I hope that was alright too 💪

Hi! To preface: I don't think there's any one right or wrong answer to my question necessarily, but I value your opinion as a level-headed adult in this fandom who can probably provide sensible input on the issue I'm having, so I thought I'd ask.
If a CC asks for their character not to be drawn (specifically referring to fanart, which they likely saw on Twitter) in a sexualised way, what does that mean for written fanwork content? Is it "wrong" (putting this in quotation marks since that's a loaded word, to say the least) to write nsfw content about said character and post it on Ao3, considering the differences in visibility/CC knowledge of those platforms, as well as the general consensus/expectation that CCs don't generally read fanfic anyway? Where is the line between "you should respect the CC's wishes" (avoiding the word "boundaries" since that's also very loaded in mcyt spaces) and "you can do whatever you want forever; fanworks are created by and for fans, not for the creators" drawn? Does "just don't put it where they can see unless they go looking" (i.e. correctly tagged on Ao3, not on a CC-frequented site like Twitter) apply? Would it be better not to do it at all, or only create and share said content in private spaces like Discord? Or is this all a "there is no single 'morally correct' answer, make your own personal judgement" thing?
(Sorry for the long-winded question but this is genuinely something I'm struggling with right now, lol. As I said I value and respect your opinion and views about these kinds of things in fandom, so if you have anything to say on the matter I'd appreciate your input!)
Alright so, obligatory warning for discourse on this one right at the top, and possibly also long post. These tend to be me rambling.
This is a situation that I think it's fair that a lot of people disagree. Your personal comfort level with making NSFW content in general is not where my comfort level is, we can come to totally different equilibriums. And then you add in creators expressing that they don't like seeing NSFW content of their characters, and people end up in a whole lot of different places, whether that's a complete no on shipping or NSFW, or people feeling fine to consume it but not create it, or only if it's archive locked, or only specific ships or smps, or whatever. I think it's fine that we don't all agree on this, creation is a fickle beast and we are in a weird place as a fandom of being not rpf but kinda cousins, and we can get *really* close to the creators with twitch and twitter, so people's comfort level in meshing all the parasociality and roleplay and real life of it all can end up in a lot of different places.
I just think that the most important thing for the fandom being a healthy place to spend time on the internet is that we don't go aroud sending hate/abuse to those we disagree with. a) i don't agree with internet mobs or suicide baiting or anon hate in general, b) the number of times I have seen internet games of telephone happen when it comes to this subject is unreal. To use an example from literally today, I saw someone saying that Pac of qsmp pacmike was uncomfortable with shipping art and fic and we all should stop shipping immediately, and once I tracked it back to its source, it turns out that what had happened was the creator said that he wasn't a fan that all the art was of him in the jumpsuit that used to be his skin, he has a new skin now, which turned into sexy jumpsuit art was the problem, which turned into pac hates all sexy fan art, which turned into "pac is being bombarded with nsfw art and shipping and he hates it". Now he might actually also not like NSFW art, but that's not actually what he was adressing, but it was certainly what was being circulated! So like, people warning me off of certain subjects— how do I know that they're actually accurate or if twitter just went twitter on a passing mention of something someone said on a twitch stream?
So I think it's way way way healthier for us as a fandom to sometimes disagree on the subject of "what we're drawing/writing about" and when that happens we implement Don't Like; Don't Read, and we just ignore that, or block if necessary. Don't Want To See it? Simply Don't See It. It's a bad idea to start hate campaigns for sinners, and half the time it's based on bad information anyways.
But in cases that you do know that the creator doesn't want to see that, you found an accurate clip? So this is a case where I think that there's no single moral answer to this that everyone is gonna agree on. We're all coming at it from too many different cultural backgrounds and different streamers in mind and comfort levels with NSFW in general. I don't think there is a firm answer that is gonna make you morally safe. But my personal feelings is that in cases where we know the creators doesn't want to see that, I think the important part there is that the creator never sees that, not that we stamp it off the internet entirely.
I do think, personally, ymmv, that you are not necessarily doing anything morally wrong with drawing or writing NSFW of someone's character, even if they think it's weird. There's a long history of creators saying "you can't do [this] with my characters," and it happens to be you can't [make them gay] enough to make me uncomfortable in general principle with saying creator of the character gets to call the shots in all settings forever. This happened with Anne Rice and with the supernatural fandom and like— it's the internet, we get to make the characters be gay together. This is the making sex jokes about fictional characters website, and Ao3 is the making porn about fictional characters website. I think it's fine if it exists on the internet, the question comes down to one of what we're forcing the creator to see, or what we're putting where they'll stumble upon it. Like, examples from real life— if you have a friend who's vegan, it's polite to not spend time rhapsodizing about how good meat is around them, and if you know that meat makes them sick, it's polite to do a meatless meal around them. That's a human person you want to be okay around you. But that's their boundary for their life, not yours, so even when you're being polite you have no obligation to go vegan when they're not around. And they have a politeness obligation to not walk into a steakhouse and freak out because there's meat there. They have a boundary for their life, and I'm going to respect it, but my life is a different story, and they need to take reasonable steps to protect their boundaries and not just expect everyone else to conform to them.
Or walking by someone on the street and waiting till they're out of earshot and then going "jesus christ that guy was hot" to your friends— that's fine. That's normal human behaviour. What becomes rude is when you make it hot guy's problem and yell at him. Being attracted to someone in your own space is not a problem. I'm aroace, I am not going to be in a relationship with anyone. I'm not going to ban having crushes on me, as long as you don't make it my business. Talking about an attractive person in your own space is not a problem. Being sexual in your own space— and again we are talking about fictional characters, the way I see it, these are lies we're telling about folks that are not real, who live in little minecraft worlds— that's fine. The problem is if we start catcalling people about it.
When you walk into fandom spaces you are walking into a space where we all like taking fictional guys and telling stories about them and a good portion of those stories are going to include kissing. That is not necessarily baseline normal for like, all of humanity, but people talk about tv shows they watch as one of the classic work small talk techniques. Fandom takes the "I hope ted gets together with jessica" "no he needs to work on himself first" discussion and writes stories, is all, to share with each other. Privately. On our special private website where there's a button you can click to hide your work from search engines and another one to hide it from logged-out users. If you log into the website and search things up, no tags blocked, what you find is on you for saying "I will see literally anything that exists on this subject in a space meant for literally anything". You will find gore. You will find kissing. You literally just opted in to seeing it. That's on you.
So like, there's my little defense of nsfw work existing in general, I think it existing is not a problem. I do think that we should keep it FAR AWAY from streamers. They get to set the rules for their spaces, and if someone doesn't want to see sexualized fan art, I do think we should make sure that in a reasonable way, they never have to see sexualized fan art/fic.
So like me personally, I'm going to hit that Ao3 button to hide my work from search engines, and anything NSFW (or shippy, depending on the person) is not going to go into the main tags on tumblr or twitter or anywhere I'm aware that the creators ever check that tag, and I'd probably archive lock it if the creator had publically mentioned being uncomfortable with it, and if I was regularly posting NSFW I'd block the creators on social media with any account I discuss NSFW with. I want to make sure that I am talking to my friends about the cubitos, not catcalling someone.
And I would probably err on the side of caution when it comes to social media sites that creators are on? Okay so the fandom has a habit of saying that NSFW and Shipping is BAD and can't exist, on the one hand, but on the other hand it says that anything that isn't Bad Wrong Shipping/Explicit NSFW is fine, which leads to like— extremely sexy thirst trap art being drawn and then the creators are tagged. People putting family dynamic fics that really pushes that envelope in the main tag. Gahhhhhh????? No? Don't do that?
I think it would be healthier in the fandom if we did a lot more going "this is for the fandom, not the creator" and we don't tag creators on twitter, and we took our little kissing fics, or gore, or kidfic, or neurodiverse headcanons, or anything else it might be not for the creator to see, and we kept it in fandom spaces and away from creators. But Ao3 is that fandom space that you have to opt into, it's literally archive of our Own, for fans, in that space as long as you tag it you're good.
So the TL;DR of this all is that my opinion is that if you tag it correctly on Ao3 you're fine. Maybe archive lock it. Keep it off twitter. Don't make it the streamer's problem, and you're good.

have you ever think about people who might be defending themselves not to reblog because they have a right to decide or something? this has been bugging my mind... no offense to anyone though, sorry, and love your works !
Rant incoming, just as a warning lol
But yes, obviously people have the right to decide if they want artists and writers to keep being motivated to post works on here for free or not.
As a writer myself, I just don´t understand the rationale behind it. There is literally zero reason not to reblog. It takes just as long as leaving a like and if you have zero patience to type out the tags then you don´t even have to necessarily to do that ( even if I will literally love you if you do!)
Likes do and mean nothing. They´re the equivalent of being left on reading after writing a long and heartfelt message.
Reblogs help our words getting spread around and actually show us that people care about our posts and want us to keep doing them.
But why have some people decided that they just refuse to do the thing the entire website is built around that would actually help their favorite blogs to stay motivated?
They have the choice not to reblog anything but it´s a selfish one and they better not complain when they get blocked or their favorite creators stop posting.
Just think about it: People ( me included) take hours out of their busy lives to write something and then post it because they want people to read and enjoy their works.
Writing sometimes takes hours of time and effort and it´s not always easy. If we were just going to do it for ourselves there would be no need to type out all of it out because the main fun part of the creative process to me is just daydreaming about an idea I had.
Actually putting it into words to tell a compelling story is tough and takes lots of patience. But we do it anyway because we want to share our ideas with other people, we want to talk about them with others. We want to ramble and fantasize about different scenarios. That´s fun.
It´s only natural to want at least some sort of feedback after spending so much time on something. And then it just hurts when people refuse to reblog your posts for ctually no reason at all, other than that they´re lazy or think a reblog is something super rare and special that only the "best" posts get to benefit from.
( Seriously, I don´t understand the sentiment of "Oh I really liked this but I didn´t like it enough to actually reblog and share it with other people. I don´t think the author should get any recognition. Oh but they better keep writing anyway and fast!")
At this point, rambling about ideas in a friend´s dms feels way more fulfilling. You guys have no idea of all the extensive rambles I went on with Korka that most likely will never see the light of day.
Why should I put in the effort and write it down to share with others when they can´t even bother to spend a single second to reblog it to show me that they appreciated what I wrote.
It makes no sense. Feedback and the back-and-forth with readers and fellow writers is what keeps us going. It´s super fun to get a conversation going about a cool idea you had! It´s not fun at all to see the notes on a post go up but no one saying anything. All that tells me is "huh, I guess people didn´t like this one. Guess I won´t post any of that anymore"
This complete lack of feedback from readers combined with work picking up is actually the main reason why I stopped writing for a few months. It didn´t feel rewarding anymore.
The recent yandere Alcryst post is actually one of the reasons why I started considering posting a bit more again. I was pleasantly surprised by all the nice tags and comments that one got and it made me smile every time I saw a new one pop up. I don´t care if it didn´t get as many notes as most twst works, I still felt way more satisfied and proud of it.
And that´s sort of where I come to the conclusion of this post:
Feedback matters, it really does! Likes tell us absolutely nothing, you could have downright hated it for all I know. But rest assured that I do screenshot every nice tag or comment I get, no matter if it´s actually a thought-out comprehensive analysis or just someone going "HJVJMVJM". I appreciate all of these so much. I save all of them in a little folder and look at them to cheer myself up when things might be tough.
So please, if you want your favorite blogs to continue then reblog! Maybe even leave a nice comment! Don´t forget that you get all of this stuff for free, creators are the ones keeping a community truly alive. You would probably be sad if your favorite writer or artist suddenly stopped posting due to a lack of support.
Please. Take that single second out of your life to hit the reblog button. It helps out more than you think and goes a long way to keep us motivated.

Gallavich Questionnaire
Thank you @energievie for tagging me to do this! I get too unhinged when talking about these two boys, so warning for very elaborate ramblings 🙏
1. What’s a fic you’ve read more than once?
This fic is the prime example of why you should write a fic even if you think nobody’s going to read it, because it’s my favorite gallavich fic even though most people don’t want to read about them getting a divorce. But I do, okay, because a normal break-up doesn’t cut it (especially since we already see those in canon, but post-canon is up to our interpretation) and it’s just more serious. I think they will work out their issues before it gets too far in canon but it just hurts so fucking good. The reason for their divorce is so realistic too, in fact it’s not one but a lot of problems piled on top of each other. They think it’s only going to hurt everyone involved including their children, which is arguably true in context, but they can’t resist each other and it’s this back and forth push. There’s parallels to canon, the writing is so good without being drawn out, and there’s so much nuance, emotion, and subtly hinting at something beneath the surface. The pining is just delicious because it’s not “I don’t know if you feel this way about me” or “I’m not allowed to be with you,” it’s “I want to be with you so badly but I’m trying to resist that because it’s going to hurt everyone.” Then the trying so hard not to care because “we’re over, but you’re in trouble and I’m trying to move on and I’m never going to love someone else like I love you” 😭😭😭 anyway I actually had to stop myself from rereading too often for comfort because it was too much LOL
Tumblr media
the author said they were going to update it January of this year so I’ll be patiently waiting 😔
3. What's a headcanon you can't stop thinking about?
You know that post abt how when you're sleepy you imagine your favs sleepy? I keep imagining Ian wrapping their comforter around Mickey like a cocoon when he has a nightmare and cuddling him, it's cute
4. What's a fanart you love looking at?
The first image of this by @gallavichonly JUST GETS ME SO FERAL. THEIR FUCKING EXPRESSIONS.
5. What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration?
I want to draw a character concept art sheet for their outfits/weapons/mechanics for kinda a zombie apocalypse AU. Designing that sounds fun but I need to research more
6. What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else?
The jealousy trope, especially jealous Mickey. I guess in other fandoms, people write jealousy in a really possessive, cringy way. Not saying gallavich aren't possessive as fuck but at least they earned it, you know? There's too many ships where one of them is breathing down the other person's love interest's neck but they don't even know you exist, like calm down 😭 Meanwhile gallavich tease and try to get each other to admit it first, and Mickey is biting his tongue trying not to say anything and then "Fucking cheat on me, Ian?!", "Whatcha doin' here then?" AND THEIR EXPRESSIONS WHEN THEY EACH SAY "WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW" ARUGHHHHHH I'M SO GONE
7. What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of?
Touched on this earlier but basically the more tragic/gritty ones—a huge argument, break-ups, unrequited love, falling out of love, hanahaki, amnesia, MCD...
10. What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough?
Eh I think we've dissected the shit out of every scene lmao, but probably their s4 reunion? The lap dance?
11. What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship?
Obviously "I'll take care of you. / It's rotten work. / Not to me. Not if it's you."
12. What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale?
I want Ian to go back to being an EMT no matter what :( but their current security gig fits Mickey a lot. Ian also gets really into gardening, he'll be so good to the point where he'll be known in the neighborhood. And Mickey has a little hobby for drawing. They'll adopt a pitbull because Mickey was actually enthusiastic about that idea, which meets Ian halfway by still giving him something to take care of. Now for the elephant in the room: I think it's okay if Mickey never wants a kid, and there's a lot of issues ingrained in them that unless they go to therapy for a couple of years, hinder them from becoming perfect parents tbh. Now I'm not saying they'll be bad, but will their best be enough? Will they be content? Idk, I don't have any experience and I see them with more issues/flaws than the majority of the fandom? Honestly I just don't see that future for them (but I do enjoy kid AUs because who doesn't.) They'll stay on the West Side because I want them to get out but not stray too far from their family. I also can't think about them getting old or I'll sob, but I wrote a fic about how they'll retire and just live comfortably because it's what they deserve, and they'll take tons of vacations when they save up enough money.
oh my god that was way too much but in my defense i rarely get to rant abt them ok!! anyway now that I went through the whole spectrum of emotions, i'm tagging @michellemisfit, @lupeloto, @jademickian & @softmick 🚶‍♀️

1, 4, 18, 19, 24 from this ask game
Thank you for the asks!
Heads up y'all, this one is a bit long and the questions dig deep, so mind the tags lol
1) What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
I stick with default Ariel Size 11. Times New Roman is kinda the only other font I can take seriously when writing, and it’s kinda tainted from years of typing out essays and media releases for school and my old job
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
Recalcitrant and pluperfect — two words that I don’t think I’ve used in any of my writing but I love working into conversations when I can (bonus — they’re both words I learned from reading fics)
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.
From By Your Side Again (sorry, this is a long one, with even longer rambles, probably, but I put a lot of thought behind the headcanons I included here)
Spoilers for Nimona (both the film and the graphic novel), and obviously the fic
“...Your arm?” Ballister eventually asks.
“Just dislocated, don’t worry. I can move it fine, the sling is probably overkill.”
“I heard Todd broke his.”
“Good for him.”
They both chuckle weakly before Ambrosius stands.
Ballister’s eyes glance away before meeting his again, looking apprehensive. “Speaking of, could you… plug my arm in? If you’re okay with it.”
Ambrosius blinks, turning to face the arm on the counter. “I- sure. Of course.” Walking towards it, he sees the robotic prosthetic is in three parts -- the arm itself, laying palm up (-Ballister’s arm falling, almost mockingly slow, the sword falling from it as Bal screams and looks at him in shock-). He sighs through his nose, counting to ten and grounding himself back in this moment. As horrible as he feels about his actions, this arm, right here -- it's not about him and he’s not about to make it about him. He’s not going to make Ballister pretend the arm doesn’t exist. Beside it is something that looking like the upper right part of their chest armor, but thinner and more form fitting, with straps attached to it -- what the arm connects to, Ambrosius guesses, with the straps presumably going across Ballister’s chest and under his left arm to hold the whole thing in place. On the other side is a thin, tiny crystal-like device on a tray. Ambrosius runs a finger along the edge before giving Ballister a hesitant look. Ballister quirks an eyebrow that had Ambrosius nodding, confirming his curiosity.
“That chip reads my brain’s signals, sending it to my arm to make it work like my other one,” Ballister begins. “It's not necessary for the arm to work, but without it, my arm wouldn’t be quite as….” he wiggles his fingers as explanation. Ambrosius nods again, silently urging him on. “It's a hybrid -- electronic and body powered, as well as mind controlled. When it has no charge and the chip isn’t connected, the wires react to movement in my shoulder, which can open and close my hand and- you’re smiling at me.”
“Am I?” Ambrosius asks absently. It's hard not to smile when Ballister gets passionate about something. “Should I stop?”
“No, no, It's just… I missed your smile.” Ballister’s voice dips low enough Ambrosius almost misses it. Clearing his throat, he says, “Anyway…?”
Just another thing they need to talk about eventually. Ambrosius lets it go for now, because he’s worried he’ll get choked up if he gets into it. “How would this even reach your brain?” He asks.
“Well, I cracked my skull open when the ground gave out that night.”
Ambrosius laughs at the unexpected answer. “Oh, of freaking course you would, Bal!”
“Wait- I- That was a joke, obviously I was joking!” Bal gives him an offended look that only makes him laugh again. “It goes in my ear, why would I- why would you think-?”
“That you’d do DIY brain surgery? Because you’re you, Bal. I mean….” Ambrosius gestures to the arm behind him. “I always said if you weren’t so squeamish, in another life, you’d be a mad scientist.”
So—
I specifically wrote Ambrosius with his arm as in a sling to both nod to the moment in the Nimona Graphic Novel this fic based on (where Ballister Blackheart’s arm is in a sling). I specifically gave him a dislocated shoulder because a) you can see his injured arm hanging limply as he approaches Bal after Nimona’s sacrifice, and b) I wanted to give him an injury that didn’t break continuity — his arm clearly being injured after the Director shot him and he was blasted to the ground, but it not being in a sling in the epilogue while Todd’s was
I wrote Bal’s prosthetic as a hybrid — biotic, mind controlled and body powered — instead of just biotic for a couple reasons.
In universe: he DIY’d it himself while on the run from the law, so it doesn’t need to fit solidly into one or the other. Who’s gonna stop him? Insurance coverage? Research funding? Nah, he’s out there probably salvaging parts from abandoned flying cars, he can do whatever he wants with his design
Out of universe/my personal experiences: my mother was in an electric wheelchair nearly the last decade she was alive, and while thing offered her a lot of autonomy, it was also, frankly, a clunker. One time when I was a teenager, we were going down the sidewalk when the battery that powered her chair just fell out.
I remember spending a good ten minutes trying to just pick the thing up to put it back in, it was so heavy. Luckily a nice jogger happened to be running by and stopped to help me lift it, but like. Y’all. When the cheapest electric wheelchair insurance will swing you loses its battery, it does not convert into a manual wheelchair. My mother physically could not move from that spot. Neither of us had good cellphones at the time and anyone we could’ve called wouldn’t get back to us very quickly, so if that jogger hadn’t stopped to help me lift that battery who knows how long we would’ve been stuck there
Since then, whenever I encounter fantasy mobility aids that rely on super high technology or magic or whatever, I just mentally tell myself that it’s a convertible/hybrid model that also functions without electricity/magic/etc or that they totally have a backup readily available just off screen, just because this memory is not a super fun one for me
As for why I specifically had Bal need to charge his arm/likened Bal’s arm charger to a phone charger, it’s because I’ve seen battery prosthetic users with above joint amputations (specifically, admittedly, above the knee amputees) describe charging their prosthetic as being like charging a phone
(Video examples by Alex1leg and Josh Sundquist, both above the knee amputees.)
I specifically took a moment to make Ambrosius unconsciously smile because I love his smile. I love his smiles for Bal. I love that little moment at the beginning of the movie where he tells Bal, “they’re going to love you,” before a smile grows on his face as he says, “like I do” — likes he’s excited and overjoyed he already gets to love Bal and the thought of others loving Bal makes him so happy. I love that moment where, when they see each other for the first time post-chop, when Ambrosius says, “Bal,” you can see his lip quirk up, like Bal’s name is just of of those sounds you can’t make without smiling a little. I love Ambrosius smiling because of Bal
The “chip” was my hand waving how Bal’s prosthetic could balance so well and had such fine motor skills when he’s basically finished DIYing it right before rushing off to the Institute. Many advanced biotic arm prosthetics do use brain scanning to interpret their user’s brain signals. Eh, its the future, if they can include holographic coins when venmoing tips to street musicians, Bal can DIY a neurolink in an alleyway while on the run from the law and probably having a hemoglobin of 3.6. I made it “crystal shaped” to mirror the crystals Nimona left behind after stopping the Director
Also Bal is absolutely feral enough to casually do brain surgery on himself. I just didn’t go that route because his signature finisher in the movie is headbutting people wearing helmets with his bare forehead, and thinking about it too long made my head hurt
Lastly, my favorite bit of characterization from the graphic novel was Blackheart’s love of science (I even specifically referenced Nimona shapeshifting into Blackheart and shouting “SCIENCE” in a set of notes I took for my friend for our cell bio class), and while I love the movie I am a little sad they didn’t lean into it. The “in another lifetime” line is a blatant reference to the epilogue of the graphic novel
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
I guess my “journey” started in elementary school — I would draw pictures and tell admittedly impressively sequential stories about them. My mother would transcribed these stories, stable them together, and show my teachers, who in turns told me I should become a published author one day. I wasn’t sold on it at the time, admittedly (I’m dyslexic and I was bitter about it as a kid), but all the adults around me figured I’d either go into healthcare or become a writer (my peers figured I’d either cure all disease one day or become the next Jack the Ripper, so make of that what you will).
(spoilers, I'm going with both)
(the healthcare/writer thing, to clarify. Not the scientist/serial killer thing)
My first degree was in English/Creative Writing, and I worked as a journalist for a couple years. I’ve even got a couple poems and a short story published in small magazines.
My mental health took a dive after some personal loses, including the death of a beloved irl writing partner, combined with a shitty work schedule (listen if your job promises only 35 hours a week but actually has you working 50 across five days, not including travel, with promises of punishment if you call out and refuses to offer part time, run), so I haven’t had the motivation to publish anything original lately. I’m hoping once I’ve got my second degree in nursing, I’ll be able to land a job that lets me survive off of three day work weeks, so I’ll have time to focus on poems and novels (I don't care if my work days are long, as long as I enjoy what I do and can get them out of the way as soon as possible)
For now, I’ve dedicated myself to my fanfics (instant gratification upon publication babay)
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
If you can’t tell, I overthink as many small details as I can lol. I try to plot my stories out in advance and research things in advance. This part of the process does lead me to procrastinating often, though — I’ll plot the entire thing meticulously, tell myself, “wow that was a lot of work,” then I won’t touch the story again for weeks. The thing is, once I do start writing, I let myself have freedom — the characters and plot will go where they go whether I want them to or not, so I don’t try to fight it. If there’s a specific bit of dialogue or action that I want, I’ll write that part of the story first and hope the before bits don’t go too off track to get there smoothly
I’m also the worst as guessing what my word count will be — it’ll either be half as much or twice as much as predicted and I won’t be able to tell you what the word count will be until it’s ready to go live

so I got some prompts as responses to my post instead of asks, and I haven’t forgotten about you!! This prompt was sent to me by @7thkarma (though I can’t seem to get the tag to work? sorry!)
the prompt was: runaway bride meets runaway groom (both left their wedding to different people or it was an arranged marriage to each other but they've never met so the left but because it's jonsa fate said no and led them back to each other)
Look. I didn't do this exact prompt and I'm very sorry, but this is what came into my brain. I did half the prompt lol. If it helps, I sort of already wrote a version of this scenario where both are on bad dates and meet?? So... combine a bathroom engagement and this one, and you've got the answer to your prompt!
(Also, I'm being very inconsistent about what I post as it's own fic and what I post in my one-shot prompt collection ephemera. My initial qualifications were - anything that feels complete gets posted on it's own, anything that doesn't goes into ephemera. But this one doesn't necessarily feel complete, exactly, and there's a fic I posted in ephemera that absolutely should have been it's own standalone story, but now it's too late. Anyway, I’ll stop rambling now.)
read it here:

[@sunsrefuge] Re: your tags about Onyx & Aurene; it sounds like their relationship develops very slowly but interestingly!! reading your tags on Onyx’s conflicted feelings about her being a dragon but also so innocent was a super good read!! <3
would you maybe wanna share more on how their relationship develops over the course of the story?? 👉👈 Are there any moments you’ve written in for them to bond extra??
AH TYYYYY!!! i love thinking about onyx and aurene i love them sm
ok so ngl, i kinda. just came up with that stuff? like, as i was typing on that post lol. but anyway, i do have more thoughts to ramble about!!!
so first off i think onyx’s caution comes from her having seen the worst of the dragons so far. so many people died to mordremoth and zhaitan, and so she’s determined to destroy every last one, both as revenge and bc she’s lost people close to her, with trahearne being INCREDIBLY recent. (onyx was in love with him and i haven’t decided if they got together before he died) she doesn’t want anyone else to go through what she has.
so she has a lot of reservations and is currently going thru a lot, but also aurene is just a baby! she’s so little and curious and sweet, and onyx doesn’t really know what to think at first. like i think she was surprised when aurene hatched that she was so… little. so fragile. so innocent. mordremoth’s magic caused her to hatch, but how can something that’s so small be just like the monsters she’s faced?
she isnt like mean to her tho. she treats her like, cordially at first, bc she knows that having aurene on their side is good practically and strategically, but then she gets Attached. having the telepathic connection helped a lot too! i think onyx could feel aurene’s general emotions a lot, like when she was having fun or how much she cared about onyx
i think onyx stopped by to see aurene more than in canon? like i’m pretty sure you only go to do the tests and stuff in game, but i think onyx liked to go and just. be there with aurene. like holding her in her lap as aurene slept and stuff. she probably said that she wanted to keep a close eye on her just in case, but i think she used a lot of this time to process trahearne tbh.. she’d sit there petting aurene, and just thinking. (probably also crying tbh)
it didn’t take very long for onyx to think of herself and aurene as mother and daughter. like i think she realized that she felt that way before pof. but i don’t think that onyx has like. verbalized that to aurene? like i think aurene kinda knows cuz of the whole mental link thing, but i think onyx doesn’t want to overstep. like, glint is aurenes mom! absolutely! but. she didn’t get to raise her, onyx did. but at the same time, she doesn’t want aurene to like. forget glint? (kinda a side note, but now i’m just thinking about caithe telling aurene about glint and agh my heart ;-;)
still, onyx feels like aurene and her are family, no matter what. now, i haven’t actually finished eod yet (i am on the last bit i know i should just finish it but also i changed onyx’s hair to look accurate while i finally play lws1 and i don’t want to use my statuettes on more hair kits :/ ) but! i’ve seen some of aurene and soo-won’s dialogue after the dragons end meta! and i think aurene feels lonely? cuz she’s the last elder dragon, the last of her kind. onyx’s heart breaks when she feels that from aurene. because she can imagine how painful that must be! (and also feel it from aurene…) but at the same time, i think onyx is going to want to sit down with aurene for a bit, maybe hold her head in her lap as best she can, and tell her that she will never be alone as long as onyx can help it. onyx and caithe are her moms and they love her! and onyx really wants aurene to know that!!! she may be big and sparkly and powerful now, but she’s still onyx’s baby, her daughter, and onyx will do whatever she can to be there for her.

Actively cursing you because I visited the 'Cronus/Reader' tag on Ao3 out of nostalgia fueled interest and now I can't stop thinking about not only your fic but also the bitch in question and I blame you for it. I read the entire thing in a day (counting the little snippets of Cronus and his degeneracy) and it was amazing, a whole ass meal that I ate the shit out of and now I'm here. The same crush on the same character after like four years. I went through fucking high school without thinking about that fishy slut unless it was in passing due to some random reference or needing to partially study the movie Grease in a class. I can't believe this shit, it was absolutely amazing and I hate that I'm hyperfixating on it >:( this is absolutely your fault. Not even going to mention the Dualscar stuff you've written because holy FUCK. Keep writing this good shit, even your fnaf fics are top tier quality, or else.
Anyways bye bestie I hope you have a good day/night <3 Sorry for rambling none of my friends will hear me out.
Hahahahahahaha don't worry I'm actively casting a blessing on you
Man writing GEO was honestly one of my greatest achievements and I'm so glad that i was able to complete it and that people enjoyed it so much there are so many sweet amazing complements i need to respond to but i am so so bad at things lol
And As far as my FNAF fic goes i haven't had as much time to write this weekend as I'd originally planned bc friends are back in town and I've missed them dearly but I'm hoping by the end of the week the next chapter should be up

GET TO KNOW ME - FIRST AND LAST CRUSH EDITION
so this is basically that trend where you have to show who your first crush and your current crush are and then tag a bunch of people to do the same. i won't tag anyone because i think all my friends already did it, but anyone who feels like doing please do and tag me 'cause i love talking about these things 💁🏻‍♀️
i was tagged by @jordyn-degas (and daaaaaaaaamn i forgot how much i loved aragorn) and @hiddenjutsu (i cracked when you said you THOUGHT you had a thing for himbos, because you definitely do 🤣🤣)
well, since this is a Naruto blog, i will do only naruto crushes.
♡ FIRST CRUSH:
so, the first time i watched naruto (only a few episodes right when they leave the village, before meeting zabuza) i was 11 AND a certain ninja had me feeling... things. guess who that was?
Tumblr media
yes, kakashi. because i am and have always been super cliche and predictable.
BUT the first time i started naruto for real it was last october, and i tried to hold back my feelings for the love of my life (aka Kakashi), because i already knew he was too hot to handle, aaaaand the man who first got my heart (while i fought to not kneel before kakashi) was:
Tumblr media
ugh, still have the hugest crush on zabuza - i mean, just look at him! and when he and Kakashi fight - shit, it was so hard for me, you know 💦💦💦💦. and like, i had already cried a few times in the show, but when zabuza and haku died i- oh god, my heart! still hurts to talk about it 😩 i was sobbing, i legit thought i was going to drop the show because it hurt so much lol but my friend kept me going, and i'm glad he did. but that changed me as a person, and i've never been the same. i wish haku and zabuza had lived, so in my head they're alive and a happy family (also in my head zabuza also adopted kimimaro when he found him right before leaving the village and they're now one big happy family). you can't fight me.
ALSO, FUN FACT: i hadn't read/written fanfiction IN YEARS before going through zabuza's tag on tumblr and accidentally finding this story by @millenialfanfictionaddiction and then i just couldn't stop anymore. i had forgotten how amazing fanfiction can be, so i began reading it non-stop and then was like "oh yeah, i should write some", so she's the one to blame. and also her story is soo good! i reread it from time to time and it's still 😘🤌👩‍🍳
yes, i just did two crushes for my first crush and rambled a lot, i'm sorry!
♡ CURRENT CRUSH:
i'll give you a whole batch of fresh baked cookies if you guess who that is. lol
Tumblr media
yeah... i know. like i said, cliche and predictable. me trying to hold back lasted literally so little. he's just... the man of my life. *sighs*
like i know i thirst over a lot of the characters (i just have a lot of love to give ok?) but kakashi will always be my #1, it's not even fair.
✧ but, anyway, because i can't shut up, my first real crush outside naruto was captain hook from the 2003 peter pan love action. (the things jason isaacs did to a shy 9 years old 🤫) i used to watch the scene where he first appears over and over and over again. i'm preeeeetty sure it kick-started my puberty. my friend's at school "oh peter is so cute!" and me "yeah, totally...". and my current crush outside naruto is eddie munson. sorry. i love them weirdos. i'll put a picture of them just because.

I am in awe of how absolutely fan fucking tastic you were able to write Forgotten
I swear i love it so much even with the agony it put me through and all the sleep i lost staying up to read it!! I maxed out on tags while trying to type up everything i loved about it but i probably would've rambled on forever if tumblr didn't max out at 30 tags with word limits for each one, so i guess that's better for everyone lol you would've had to read a long book of commentary that certainly wasn't proof read since i just typed everything coming to mind, and that is more suffering than you should have to go through
I know I'm not sounding very eloquent in my speech or appreciation and that i can't fully articulate the emotions it left me with, but just know that i don't think I'll ever forget this fic and i am still trying to come to terms with how near and dear it's become to me even in the relatively short time it's been since you published the first chapter. I'm going to think of this fic every time i see, read, or hear the name bakugou katsuki now
ANYWAY I'm rambling again and if i don't stop now I'll never shut up, so thank you for sharing such a masterpiece and I'll leave you well wishes for everything!! 🥰🥰💖
sorry this ask is so all over the place >.<
🥺 oh Nonny 🥺 I'm so glad you liked it. When I wrote the first chapter I didn't think it would receive nearly this much attention. It was going to be a one shot 😂 so glad you enjoyed the series. I appreciate all the kind words and the "ramblings" I've been getting. Thank you so much
🖤🐈‍⬛

🍕🍔🥩🍣🦪🍤🍺🌮Kidnapped food-posting quotes n shiz PART 1🌯🦑🦐🐟🦀🍗🍪🍫🍰
Why not do a themed one? I see no reason not to fsdhfdjshkjfdshdjfs -------------------------------
Kristy:(annoyed)So what??? You're just gonna ignore our mission???
Max:(nods, smirks)Yep, sure am. New mission is getting some lunch. (Hungry)Godddd, that barbecue place smells so good, i could go for some goodass steaks right now…
Sharky:(hungry too)You think maybe we could snag a few? I could really use some food…I'm starved…
Max:(smirks)Hell yeah i bet we can. We got some cash.
Kristy:(annoyed)You two are seriously just gonna listen to and think with your stomachs??? Like really???
Max:(nods, scheming)Yep.
Sharky:(hungry)Honestly yeah. Can't focus really with mine being empty…
Kristy:(annoyed as fuck)Unbelievable!!! I can't believe you 2 are just gonna-!!! (She's cut off by her own stomach growling hungrily, wrapping her arms around herself)Ughhhhh…
Max:(smirking)Maybe you should be listening to yours, seems like it's trying to tell you something…
Kristy:(annoyed)Ughh!!!! Shut up!!!! We need to focus on-
Sharky:(cutting her off)Getting food. Look, nothings gonna get fuckin done with all of us starving so lets get some grilled goods, chow down then we get back to the mission ok? (Looking dead at Kristy)You're always the one lecturing me about self care so…Yknow, maybe we should all do that huh?
Kristy:(annoyed, glares at both of them)….Fine, goddamnit. BUT WE'RE GETTING RIGHT BACK TO THE MISSION AFTE-
Max:(already got a plan to find the place)Yeah yeah yeah, the stupidass mission. Anyway!!!! LET'S GO!!!! -------------------------------
(Max being Max xd)
Max:(hungry, just rambling outloud)Okay but some nachos would be banging right now…And also maybe like something with whipped cream, i'm thinking like a drink but like…Man, i'd eat an entire cherry pie though with whipped cream on it…Root beer float also sounds really fucking good though…Or maybe-!!!
Kristy:(interrupts, annoyed as she's trying to read something on her phone)Is it like actually physically possible for you to go at least 20 minutes without thinking about food? Like can you actually think about things with your brain instead of your stomach or like?
Max:(amused, smirking)Nah, not really. And if i ever manage that, that'd be the time to panic cuz that ain't me heheh…Got a shapeshifter with ya and i'm probably being held captive somewhere…
Kristy:(groans annoyed)Ughhhhhhh…
Max:(defensive, amused still though)Look, i do not know why i'm always hungry, i just know that i am. Gotta have a well fed Max to do the dumbass Trio shit ya need me to do alright? This kinda quality tech and hacking work comes with a price tag and that price tag involves tacos…(hungry, lighting up)God, tacos though, ughhhh, i just want something with some steak…
Kristy:(annoyed, trying to focus on her phone)Please stopppp, this is already so boring to read and you're just distracting me…
Max:(amused, getting his phone out and looking for a taco place now)Alright alright, fineeeee…I'll go get some chow then. I'm starving, i need some food real bad, legit all i can think about right now… ------------------------------- inb4 this one DO NOT DO THIS ONE...DON'T... Not food related but it involves Max eating something ig so...I'm putting here anyway lol
(We see Max and Kristy sitting down in the underground area, resting a bit…Kristy's reading one of her manga's and Max is fucking around with a glowstick…We see Max tapping on the stick and shaking it around…And then he gets a dumbass idea lmao…We see Max take a claw out and saw the top bit of it off, peeling the lidbit off. He chunks it to the side and that's whenever Kristy looks up and notices.)
Kristy:(concerned, worried)Uhhhhh, what the hell are you doing?
Max:(his gaze goes from the blue glowstick to Kristy, smirking)Gonna do some shots if you catch my drift…
Kristy:(immediately tries to stop him)Max, no!!!! It could be dangerous!!!!!!
Max:(scoffs, tapping the stick, amused)Nah, i googled it, not poison so i'll be fine butttttt am curious sooooooo…-(he gazes at Kristy, smirking and then quickly opens his mouth, pouring the liquid in, he lets it sit in his mouth a sec, showing Kristy, trying to talk)Look Kwis, mah mouths glowin!!!
Kristy:(anxious, apprehensive)…….Yeahhhh, i dunno bout this…
Max:(mouth still full of blue glowing chemical, amused)Quit cwyin, is fine!!! Is cool!!!! Now i wanna see tho…(we see Max decide finally to close his mouth and gulp the liquid down, then quickly opening his mouth, now it not glowing, Max immediately being disappointed)Awwwww, fuck!!! Really not glowing anymore????
Kristy:(kinda surprised)…Ok, i actually did think your mouth would still be glowing…
Max:(annoyed)Yeah, same, what a fuckin disappointment…Ughhhhh…(slouches back before looking down at his body, moving his bag and looking at his body)Wait, is my stomach glowing or…? (Looking, annoyed, head smacks back into the wall)No!!! Goddddddd, how boring!!! I was hoping something would glow, like that'd be really cool!!! Damnit!!!!! Ehhhhhhhhh…
Kristy:(staring)Well, like…It still doesn't hurt right or does it or?
Max:(he thinks a second, shrugs)Not reall-(stops a second)……..Orrrrrr…My stomach does kinda tingle a bit now…So might end up getting a stomachache later…God, this wasn't even worth it, how lame…
Kristy:(kinda laughs a bit)Well, least it didn't really hurt you…
Max:(annoyed, sideglances)No but it is lame as hell, ughhh…(reaches into his bag, pulls out another glowstick)…Maybe if i ate a few more?
Kristy:(quickly)Uhhhh, don't we need these for down here?? You probably shouldn't right now, we need to conserve energy!!!
Max:(huffs, annoyed as he chunks another glowstick up and down in his hand)Yeah, yeah, yeah, god, just…Ughhhh… -------------------------------
(Max and Kristy trying to go find a thing or something lol, idk)
(We see the 2 derpos walking around downtown Shellside City, actively looking for a specific place…Andddd then Max veers that shit offroad p damn quick.)
Kristy:(looking at her phone confused then back up at Max)…..Are you sure this is the right way?
Max:(amused, hands in his hoodie pockets)You remember earlier when you were like "You got to listen to your gut sometimes!" ?
Kristy:(confused)Yeah? Why exactly?
Max:(amused)I am fully embracing that advice and my gut right now is telling me that i need some food asap hehehe…
Kristy:(her face falls as she looks back at the map and sees where they're ACTUALLY heading to, a local bar and grill, looking up at Max, pissy)Are you serious???? You were doing this on purpose weren't you?!?!?
Max:(walking backwards some, looking at Kristy, amused)Hey now!! You gave that advice earlier and i for one like to listen to my friends when they give good advice!! If you have an issue with it, then you're gonna need to take it up with my gut cuz uhhhh that's what i'm listening to right now.
Kristy:(glaring, pissed)I can't believe you dude, ughhhhh, holy shit…
Max:(amused, moving back to walking normally)Welp believe it cuz i did do it haha, and i'll do it again at some point. Now that that's out in the open, goddddd, i can't wait to sink my teeth into some bacon cheeseburgers, ahhhhh, holy shit…
Kristy:(glaring at Max still)Here's some new advice for you since you like my points so much: Maybe try and think with your brain instead maybe next time…
Max:(amused)And ignore my stomach?? Kris Kris, i'm sorry but absolutely not. My stomachs always been on my side and has never led me astray, not even once!! So uhhhhh yeah, i think ima keep doing things my way haha!!

Chester and the Jesters (FNAF SB fanfic) C9 - Together
In Summary:
The new tech sure does seem a little strange. Chester (at least, that's what their name tag says) doesn't seem as concerned as they should be about the high turnover rate here at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizza-Plex, or the numerous rumors about what happens to people who take the night shift. And to make matters worse, there seems to be some kind of criminal on the loose! The cops say they think the criminal is hiding out in the woods somewhere near the pizza-plex. Stress is high at the plex these days, but Chester is stoic as ever. Say, come to think of it, no one can seem to remember where Chester's application went or who they interviewed with. Their employee file is misplaced or missing just like everything else in this place. But the new tech does a good job completing their tasks, and has their own badge and everything, so of course they must belong here. It's not like someone would sneak into the plex and go this far out of their way to impersonate a low level technician. Right??
Things To Know (always read responsibly!):
Biggest warnings are for blood, death, knives, murder, the police, violence, also the OC is at one point hit by lightning. All fun stuff
About 70,000 words in total, 9 chapters, so roughly like. 7,500 words per chapter
This is an OC story, not a reader insert or a self insert! But if you want to imagine otherwise be my guest lol
Angst, fluff
OC x Sun & Moon, there's romance but zero spice
Occasional swearing
Heavy focus on Sun and Moon but most of the rest of the gang is there too :)
Afton doesn't exist, sorry peepaw, Vanessa is here but she's very chill. She's a kickass gamer girl lmao
Moon does an attempted murder but its fine. He's just a lil guy ok
OC uses they/them and also sign language most of the time
Impersonation, lying. There's also manipulation. Yall I wasn't kidding about the angst
There's also a lot of focus on how they're all robots, very cool robots with feelings lol
That's all I can think of, as always please lmk if I should add anything!

Chapter 8 | Chapter 9
C9 - Together
     Sometimes, when experiencing new feelings, Sun and Moon worked to learn what they could do to avoid the feeling. Oftentimes, things didn't feel right, like running a program they weren't designed to support. Like nonexistent code trying its darndest to run itself and somehow succeeding. A lot of the time, it was overwhelming. They simply weren't wired for it, processors struggling and failing to keep up. Yet they would feel anyways. Sometimes it was like errors that never read as errors, there was a sense of it being wrong, yet they could do nothing about it being there regardless, no matter what they did.
     This time, however... This time they couldn't get enough.
     Moon held Chester's hand the whole way back to the daycare. Fans were whirring desperately as processors did their best. There was that sense of wrongness about it, but neither Moon or Sun cared. The feeling was overwhelming, but they didn't mind.
     "It's like when our systems start to overheat, but everywhere. It's like… when one of the kids draws a picture for us, but so much… bigger," Sun rambled.
     Moon accessed a memory file. He’d been in parts and service a long while ago, after a kid had managed to jam a crayon into their elbow joint, upset about the fact that he had to stop coloring and take a nap. The technician had been especially talkative, and had rambled at length about a new romantic partner they were seeing.
     "They're so sweet and considerate, I just adore them," the technician had said. It was the way they'd smiled as they said it that had stuck with Moon.
     Adoration. That's what this was. Moon focused on the pressure readings in his hand, focused on the signals from his sensors. He studied the way Chester's typically neutral expression was softened into a light smile. He made several backup files of this newest memory file.
     Moon still felt apprehensive about holding Chester's hand, but the way his sensors were lighting up was damn near addicting.
     "Let me out? Please please please??" Sun pleaded as they made it to the daycare.
     "You can come out when the lights go on. The building will be open soon," Moon mumbled, his volume turned too low for Chester to hear.
     "Mooooooooon!" Sun whined.
     "Wait your turn."
     "You've been out all night long!"
     Moon turned to Chester, who sat down heavily on the padded floor. He sat himself down next to them, settling his hands in his slap. Sun continued to complain while Moon ignored him.
     "This whole night has been… a lot." Chester rubbed their face under their glasses. Pressing their cold fingers over their eyes felt nice. They let out a long breath and continued to sign. "And things aren't over yet. I need to figure out… what comes next."
     Moon tilted his head, causing the bell on his nightcap to jingle as it swung with the motion. "What do you mean?"
     "Well. I think it's time for me to come clean. I'm not a real technician, I can't keep pretending to be one like this. It's only a matter of time until I'm in over my head and I mess things up. That's been made especially clear, after tonight," Chester signed.
     "You still fixed us, didn't you?" Moon could feel something different creeping in.
     "Yeah, but… I'm just sort of... Getting by. I don't really understand things as well as I should, as well as all of you deserve. Changing lightbulbs is one thing, but repairing you guys… I shouldn't be taking any risks when there's so much at stake." Chester remembered thinking Moon might die. Even though they'd managed to fix him, they hated how they'd only just barely managed to do so.
     "So… what does this mean? What are you… going to do?" Moon asked. It felt like apprehension, but it was different. It was… unpleasant distress over the possibility of an unfavorable outcome. Like his new battery was somehow on the fritz. Like lightning in his belly.
     Chester signed slowly. "I have to tell the truth. Explain that I don't belong here, and I never did. And I have to accept the consequences."
     Moon didn't like this. Not one bit. That wonderful feeling from before was still there, but now there was this horrible fear along with it. Fear that he might loose the source of that wonderful feeling. "What if you didn't?"
     "You'd rather I keep lying to everyone?"
     Moon tugged at the ribbons on his wrists. "We would rather you stay. If you tell the truth, you might not be able to stay." A thought occurred to Moon, then. He recalled their earlier conversation with Chester, before everything had gone down. They'd mentioned leaving, and had asked what Moon would do if they left. When he spoke, there was static in his voice. "Do you… want to leave? You don't want to stay?"
     Chester wanted nothing more than to stay. They let out a long breath. They scooted closer to Moon and leaned against him, slumping against his side. Moon entirely stilled under them. "I'm just so tired, Moon. Nothing would make me happier than to be able to stay. But I just can't keep going on like this."
     Moon felt something that reminded him a lot of how it felt to hurt. It was different than system errors or clumsy repairs, though. It was more like realizing their last update had a bug, and knowing that they had to just sit with it and wait and hope the next update would fix it. "…I understand."
     "I'm sorry," Chester signed.
     "Don't be sorry," Moon mumbled. "We don't want you to feel bad. If you need to do this, then we understand."
     Chester's heart hurt. They leaned more heavily into Moon. "If things don't go great… I'm going to miss you two. So much."
     Moon's arm twitched. He wanted to wrap Chester in a hug (Sun was even yelling at him to do so) but he couldn't. He remained entirely still. Instead, he started to play his music box.
     Chester listened as Moon played a soft little lullaby for them. They closed their eyes and focused on everything about this moment. Moon's casing, slightly warm from the mechanisms working inside. The quiet whir of his fans. The way his music box sounded so soft behind his faceplate, as if he was humming. They wanted to hold onto this memory, just in case.
     They sat there together, Moon playing his lullaby and Chester listening quietly, until the lights came on. Moon shivered below them. Chester quickly sat up, giving him space to change.
     The first thing Sun did when he was done changing was pull Chester into a hug. He held them tightly, like he never planned on letting them go.
     “I can’t convince you to stay with us, can I?” Sun asked.
     “No. I’m sorry,” Chester mumbled, their hands currently occupied with returning Sun’s hug.
     Sun squeezed them a little tighter. “…What if I can’t let you go?”
     “The daycare will open eventually. You have to take care of the kids,” Chester said. “I need to catch miss Garcia or mister Baxter before they get started for the day.”
     “What if… what if we just…” Sun faltered.
     “We have to let them go, Sun.”
     Sun sighed, the sound full of static. Slowly, he loosened his arms from around Chester. When Chester hesitated, he nearly tightened his hold again, but resisted. Finally, Chester pulled away.
     Chester wanted to say something. They raised their hands, but there were no words. Chester’s eyes threatened to tear up again.
     They couldn’t say anything more, and they had to leave. So, without another word, Chester left the daycare, Sun’s gaze on their back.
     As they marched back through familiar unknowable halls, Chester’s mind swam with the things they’d left unsaid. They wondered if they’d ever see Sun and Moon again. Those two had come to mean so much to them, and there was a chance they’d never see the two of them again.
     Chester breathed and focused, finding resolve in their decision. They had to come clean. It was the right thing to do.
     Chester found Rosa in the employee stock room. She’d just clocked in and was grabbing her faz-phone from its charger.
     “Hey, there you are. Are you alright?” Rosa asked.
     “I’m fine. I need to talk with you, if that’s alright,” Chester signed.
     Rosa nodded. “About last night, right? There was an officer waiting for me by the door, asking to speak with the night shift employee. Apparently there was some kind of incident here last night? I told the officer you’d probably already clocked out. When he left I noticed all the other cops in the parking lot were gone. Do you know what happened?”
     Chester nodded. Rosa waited patiently while Chester collected themself. She took a long drink from her coffee thermos.
     “There was an intruder here last night. He was here looking for me,” Chester started.
     “For you?? Why?”
     Chester sighed. “Let me explain from the beginning. There’s something I need to come clean about.” Chester told their story for the second time. They summarized everything a bit quicker this time around. By the time they were done, Rosa looked wide awake for the first time since Chester had known her.
     Rosa stared at Chester for a long moment when they were finished. It was certainly a lot to take in. “So… Anthony came after you to try and kill you last night.”
     Chester nodded.
     “Are you… okay? I mean, obviously he didn’t get very far, did he? But you’re alright?” Rosa asked.
     “I’ve been better,” Chester admitted.
     Rosa nodded. “Do you want some time off? I can get Lance to cover your shifts, he’s got less overtime than I do. So don’t worry about leaving us short staffed.”
     Chester stopped for a moment to rewind the conversation, double checking that, yes, they had told her that they’d originally snuck into the plex and were not actually a legitimate technician. “Time off??” Maybe they hadn’t heard her right?
     “…You’re not wanting to quit, are you Chester? The other managers are doing their best to get other people back on the night shift again, so you don’t have to worry about the lack of security for much longer,” Rosa said.
     Chester was entirely baffled. “I… I’m not. Fired?? Miss Garcia, I broke into the building and have been impersonating a technician for two months. Chester isn’t even my real name.”
     Rosa sighed. “I can give you an interview if you want. But we really can’t afford to loose such a good worker right now. I’m not about to press any charges against you, and I doubt upper management would want me to anyways. We can make you a new name tag.”
     Chester shook their head. What the hell was happening?? “But I’m not a tech! I don’t know what I’m doing!” When they’d imagined how this conversation would go down, they didn’t even consider that they’d have to try and convince Rosa to fire them.
     “Half the people we hire lie outrageously and obviously on their resumes.” Rosa rolled her eyes. “If they really do more harm than help, then we let them go. But you’ve been a huge help around here. If you really weren’t good enough for the job, we would have let you go ages ago. I don’t know how you picked things up so fast but you’ve been completing your tasks, and I haven’t once had to reassign one of your completed tasks.”
     “But- but I still don’t know half the things I’m supposed to, I didn’t go to school for this, all I know is what I’ve gathered while on the job and what I've read in the technical books,” Chester gestured to the shelf of books near the back of the room. “And even then, I can’t figure out half of the terms!”
     Rosa sighed and rolled her eyes. That tired look had settled back over her now. “Look, if it really means that much to you, let me give you a proper interview.”
     Chester, confused and entirely lost, hesitantly agreed. They followed Rosa back up through the halls and into her office.
     Chester had imagined they’d be tossed in the back of a police cruiser by now, or at least kicked out on the street. By all means, they really should have been at least kicked out. They entered the office behind Rosa in a daze. Rosa motioned for them to sit across the desk from her. They complied, moving on autopilot. They wrung their hands together as they sat down heavily in the same chair they'd first sat in months ago.
     “Right.” Rosa cleared her throat and picked up a clipboard. She rifled through the desk for a pen. “So. Let’s take a look at your qualifications.”
     “I don’t have a college degree or anything. I barely graduated high school,” Chester signed.
     Rosa shrugged. “I don’t have a degree myself. I did take a class over at the community college, though. Do you have any experience working as a technician?”
     “Technically, I’ve got two months of experience. If that even counts?”
     Rosa made a note on her clipboard. “Mmhmm. Very good. And do you have any experience in Fazbear Entertainment electronics and hardware specifically? We have our own line or arcade machines, not to mention the animatronics, of course.”
     “Again, technically, but-“
     “Two months of prior experience. Well, things are looking good so far.” Rosa scribbled something on her clipboard. “Do you have experience with typical repair tools? Screwdrivers, soldering gun, wrenches, ratchets, etcetera?”
     Chester sighed. “Yes, I do.”
     “Do you think you’re capable of handling the day to day responsibilities the job entails? This includes typical maintenance, running check up diagnostics, making installations, and general repair. All hardware of course, everything software related goes to the upper management offices.”
     “I… I mean…” Chester paused. Their initial reaction was to say no, of course they didn’t feel capable. They lacked a lot of basic important knowledge. But with a lot of things, they understood enough to get by, or at least enough to be able to figure out what the problem in need of fixing was. “For some things, yes. But other things, like animatronic repair, or anything too technically complicated or… too important to mess up, no.”
     Rosa made another note. “I see. And why is it that you want this job?”
     “Originally I was hiding out from the authorities.”
     “And now?” Rosa asked.
     “Now…” Chester thought back over their time here. They thought about everything they’d learned, and how nice it felt to figure out how to fix something. It felt nice not only to be able to help out, but to do the best they could and have it pay off. “Honestly, I like the work. I like working with my hands, and I like the satisfaction of fixing things and learning how things work. I like the people here, too.”
     Rosa made a few more marks on the clipboard, her pen scratching quickly over the paper. “Well, Chester. You sound like the perfect fit for this job. Let me offer you a deal; you stay on as a technician and i’ll work with Lance to tweak your task list, so you’ll handle most if not all of the grunt work around here. All easy stuff no one wants to do because it’s boring or tedious. A lot of the stuff you’ve been doing, actually, but from now on that’d be all you’re doing. Nothing too complicated. In the meantime, you can train under me during your day shifts and I’ll teach you everything I know. Sort of like an informal apprenticeship. What do you say?”
     Chester didn’t have any words to say anything with at all. They were fucking floored.
     Is this. Real??
     Rosa was looking at them. Her expression was serious. Chester considered their options.
     …There weren’t a whole lot of options. Even if there were, there wasn’t any version of things where this wasn’t the best option. Chester would have to be an idiot to turn it down.
     “…Are you sure?” Chester asked.
     “Positive. I see in you a great deal of potential. Besides, we really need to keep you on staff.” Rosa smiled.
     “Well then… alright,” Chester signed. “You’ve got a deal.”
     Rosa’s smile grew and she shook Chester’s hand. “Great. I’ll talk to Lance and fill him in. Did you want some time off or will you be here for your shift tonight?”
     “I’ll be here,” Chester signed. They technically still did not have anywhere else to live. They’d have to figure that out soon. They’d been expecting to have been sleeping in a jail cell from here on out.
     “Great. We’ll have your tasks worked out by then,” Rosa promised. She set her clipboard aside, revealing the paper she’d been ‘taking notes’ on was covered in doodles. “And hey… keep up the good work.”
     Still in a sort of daze, Chester saw themself out of the office. They stood in the hall and stared at the floor for a solid minute. They barely noticed as Cappy and their security bot friend rolled past, the two of them still hand in hand.
     Slowly, it started to sink in. They hadn’t been arrested. They hadn’t even been fired. They could keep working here. They could stay.
     Chester’s feet started to move. They made their way out into the main building. They passed a few tired employees, just starting their shifts for the day. The building wasn’t open to the public yet, but the overhead speakers had started to play cheery pop music on a low volume. All the lights were on, adding to the surreal experience of it all. Between Chester’s daze and the weird emptiness of the illuminated halls, they felt like they were dreaming.
     Their feet carried them at last back to the daycare. Once the grand double doors were in sight, the daze started to subside. In its place came something giddy. Chester’s heart was pounding as they reached the doors. They stepped inside the daycare.
     Sun had been heading towards the doors when Chester stepped inside. He froze mid-stride, gaze locked on Chester.
     Chester smiled when they saw him. They almost felt dizzy. “I wasn’t fired.” They laughed, still hardly able to believe it. They quickly explained their talk with Rosa, and the interview they’d had.
     Sun approached slowly, as if he were afraid Chester would vanish if he moved too suddenly. “You can stay??”
     Chester nodded. “I’m staying.”
     Sun couldn’t hold back anymore. He pulled Chester into a tight hug, swinging them from side to side. He started to laugh, and as the happiness overcame him, he started to dance and twirl Chester around in dizzying circles.
     Chester held on tight, grinning like a goof. For the first time in their life, they felt so incredibly lucky. Through some twist of fate or coincidence or happenstance or whatever the hell it was, they were here. They could stay.
     Sun eventually calmed down, though he didn’t let Chester go just yet, swaying with them instead. “When you left, Moon and I, we were so sad. It was even worse than when I’d felt it before. We thought we’d never get to see you again, and we’d never be able to tell you what you mean to us both.”
     “I actually felt the same sort of way. It was so hard, to stick with my morals and carry through with my decision. I wanted to tell you two something important, but I knew I shouldn’t, especially if I was never going to see you two again,” Chester said.
     Sun finally set Chester down. He looked down at them carefully. His grin was as steady as ever, but his posture was uncertain, nervous. He fiddled with the ribbons at his wrists. “You… wanted to tell us something??”
     Chester nodded. They couldn’t keep it in any longer. Not after everything that had happened, not after nearly loosing their chance to ever even see the two of them again. Chester took a deep breath. “You and Moon have come to mean so much to me. I care about you two a lot. It’s not just that I like spending time with you two and talking and playing games, but also… I like you both. I… I want to be friends, but I also want to be… more.”
     Sun had to resist immediately grabbing Chester up in another hug. “We want that too!!”
     “Really?!”
     Sun nodded enthusiastically. “You mean more to us than anyone has ever meant to us before, and we like you so much that sometimes it hurts, but its such a wonderful way to hurt. We adore you. You’re so, so special to us. We don’t often understand or even tolerate it very well when we feel things, but if there’s one thing we’re both sure of its that for you we feel something that we’ve never felt for anyone else before. Its overwhelming and wonderful and it feels even better knowing you feel the same. Are you sure you feel the same?? Really truly?”
     Chester smiled. “I really do.” They could feel a warmth in their cheeks from Sun's words.
     “You don’t mind that we don’t know at all what we’re doing? Or that it won’t be the same as with a human? Because we can’t quite feel things for you the way a human could. But we can feel for you in our own way,” Sun said.
     “I know. I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Chester assured. “Honestly, I don’t really know what I’m doing either. I don’t have a whole lot of experience, but I at least know without a doubt that my feelings for the two of you are resolute. And if you’re both willing to give me a shot, then I’m more than happy to do the same.”
     “We can be clueless together?” Sun offered. He held a hand out to Chester, halfway between them.
     Chester laughed, the sound light and happy. They took Sun’s hand. “I’d love that.”
~~~
     “Vanessa, there’s something I need to tell you.”
     Vanessa leaned back in her chair, giving Chester her full attention. It was just the two of them in the break room today. They’d decided to share a pizza again, but Chester had yet to touch their half of the pie.
     “Oh, it’s the big thing, isn’t it?” Vanessa asked, sensing the mood had changed to something more serious.
     “Big thing?”
     “Yeah, you know. Your big secret. You’re finally going to tell me?” Vanessa prompted.
     “You know I’ve got a big secret??” Chester had thought they’d been doing an alright job of hiding it, but apparently not.
     “Of course I do. The ghosts love to gossip. They’ve got nothing else to do, ya know?” Vanessa waved a hand. “Lets have it then, you’ve kept me waiting for long enough!”
     “Okay… Alright, here it is. I’m not really a technician. I broke into the plex two months ago and put on a uniform so I could sneak back out unnoticed, but then everyone thought I was a tech, and since the cops were after me I played along so I could hide out here. The cops that were staked out in the parking lot were looking for me,” Chester started.
     Vanessa continued to stare at them expectantly.
     “…I’m not joking. Chester isn’t my real name. I’ve been living in hiding here at the plex for two months. I’ve been lying to you,” Chester signed.
     “Mmhmm. I know.” Vanessa nodded.
     “You… know.”
     “Yeah, I’ve known since the beginning. Is that… it? That’s all? There’s nothing else?” Vanessa asked.
     “Nothing else?? What do you mean you knew since the beginning?!”
     “The ghosts, remember? They told me all about you sneaking in and how you’ve been sleeping in the daycare attendant’s room above the daycare. But they all love you, you’re very entertaining. Its like watching a soap opera for them.” Vanessa smiled. "Also! Cappy tried to get me to fire you at one point and said you'd snuck into the plex. They really didn't appreciate cleaning up your messes."
     “You… knew?? The whole time?” Chester shook their head. They were reeling from this. “You knew I was hiding out here from the police, who were after a wanted murderer. And you not only said nothing, but decided to be friends with me??”
     “Yeah.” Vanessa shrugged. “What can I say, I thought it was entertaining too. Besides, I knew you weren’t a murderer. I once saw you apologize to the wall after bumping into it. And that was before I told you the building had feelings.” Vanessa laughed.
     Chester remembered that embarrassing moment, way back when they'd first started working here, before they'd made the deal with Sun to stay in the daycare. They'd been either staying up all night reading technician books or sleeping in the little employee uniform closet and, needless to say, they hadn't exactly been well rested. Once they’d realized they’d apologized to a wall they’d looked all around to see if they were being watched. They hadn’t seen anyone, and had thought they were alone at the time. Apparently someone had been watching after all.
     “You should know the cops aren’t out there looking for you anymore. Apparently they caught someone else, and his prints match the prints on the murder weapon, and from what I hear the guy eventually fessed up to the murder, not too long after they brought him in,” Vanessa said.
     Chester nodded slowly. “His name is Anthony.”
     “That’s the guy who broke in, right?? Everyone’s only heard rumors and the ghosts all tell it differently. Pleeease tell me what happened?” Vanessa clasped her hands together. “I’ll buy you some onion rings!”
     “I was going to tell you anyways.” Chester took a moment, then retold their whole story once more, starting from the very beginning, elaborating more on how they’d gotten the job at first, then explaining everything that had happened the night Anthony had shown up. They also told Vanessa about how they’d come clean to Rosa, who hadn’t fired them.
     “Ohh, so that’s why you’ve been shadowing Rosa! I thought she was training you to become a manager. That’s what everyone else assumed,” Vanessa said. “Man. Wow, that’s a lot. Hey, if you want, I could recommend a really good therapist, I’ve been seeing her for years now. She’s really nice.”
     Chester picked at the edge of the pizza box. “You know, I might actually take you up on that sometime. It’ll have to come later, though. There’s some other things I need to figure out. I want to look into taking some technical courses at the community college soon. Right now I need to figure out a place to stay. As much as I love spending time with the daycare attendant, I can’t keep sleeping in the daycare forever. I miss sleeping in a bed. I miss having my own place. When I worked for mister Joseph, he put me up in different hotels around town. I wasn’t exactly on direct deposit, so I couldn’t provide proof of income to any apartment complexes. Basically I’ve been technically homeless for a while now.”
     “You know… My apartment is a two bedroom. I was originally going to room with a friend, but they flaked out last minute and left me in the lurch. I’ve been trying to find another roomie since, but there’s a lot of weirdoes in this town, ya know? I should know, I’m one of em.” Vanessa laughed. “But what do you say?? Its close enough to walk to work, and there's a nice little pub right around the corner that makes a mean bloody mary.”
     Chester’s nose scrunched up. “I was on board until you mentioned the bloody mary.”
     Vanessa scoffed. “How dare you. I’m rescinding my offer. Only people with taste allowed in my apartment.” Vanessa stuck her tongue out at Chester.
     Chester smiled. “I stand by it.”
     “I’m just joking, offer still stands. What do you think??”
     “In all seriousness? That’d be absolutely wonderful. You’d really let me room with you??” Chester asked.
     “Just pay your share of rent on time and don’t leave the kitchen a mess,” Vanessa said.
     “I can do that,” Chester agreed.
     Vanessa grinned. “Cool, then it’s settled! I’ll make a copy of the key after work and talk to the agent guy about getting you on the lease. I don’t think you’ve realized it yet, but I’ve just tricked you into being my go-to default bud for when I need binge-watching company. I’m also gonna drag you along on walks. Oh! And there’s a sick little dog park I have to show you too!”
     “That all honestly sounds wonderful.” Chester dared to imagine some peaceful normalcy. Real normalcy, not just pretend, with a massive lie looming overhead. They wanted very much to do normal friend things with Vanessa, hang out in coffee shops and bars and play video games and chat. They imagined being roommates, figuring out how to cohabitate together. “Would you mind me bringing guests over from time to time?”
     “Course not, so long as you give me a heads up. Why do you ask? Did you have someone in mind?” Vanessa asked.
     “I may have… okay, you remember how I said I’d developed certain feelings?” Chester started.
     Vanessa’s eyes went wide. “Go on??” she said excitedly.
     “Well, I’m. Sort of. In a relationship now.”
     “WHAT!!” Vanessa slammed her hands down on the table. “WHY DIDN’T YOU LEAD WITH THIS!! Oh my god that’s great news!”
     Chester laughed. “That got more of a reaction from you than the massive secret i’ve been keeping for months.”
     “Well I already knew about that.” Vanessa waved a hand nonchalantly. “But seriously, congrats! I take it my advice didn’t pan out?”
     “It actually only made things worse.” Chester quickly continued. “Not as in bad worse, it just made me realize I wasn’t enamored with a fantasy.”
     “Can I guess who it is?? I think I have an idea,” Vanessa said.
     Chester nodded.
     “Is it the daycare attendant?” Vanessa guessed. “I know you said there were two crushes, and the daycare attendant has those dual AIs. Plus, with how you've been staying in the daycare, I imagine you've spent quite a lot of time with Sun and Moon.”
     “I really can’t hide anything from you, can I?” Chester smiled.
     “It’s all that practice looking for golden houses. Nothing gets by me.” Vanessa laughed. “Yeah, you can bring them around whenever you like, they’re both cool in my book.”
     “Great. I think they’ll be sad when I move out of the daycare. I know I’m going to miss not having quite as much time with them.”
     Vanessa hummed thoughtfully. “Are they allowed to leave? I know there’s been a restriction on the daycare for a while now, but usually the animatronics don’t wander around town regardless. I can only imagine the absolute fit upper management would throw.”
     “Sun said he was going to try and talk to upper management soon. I guess if it comes to it I could try to sneak them out.” Chester imagined trying to sneak a seven foot tall animatronic dressed like a jester anywhere.
     “Just slap some of those silly disguise glasses on them. You know, with the big nose and the silly mustache? No one will recognize them, surely.”
     Chester laughed. “Right. A fool proof plan.”
     Chester and Vanessa chatted easily, nearly missing the end of their break. Chester managed to eat a few slices of pizza, once they’d talked everything over with Vanessa. They returned to work, and continued where they left off shadowing Rosa. She’d acquired a new cup of coffee in Chester’s absence and sipped on it between incredibly brief explanations and lessons.
     The end of the day couldn’t come soon enough. Chester was eager to get back to the daycare, though they were sure to pay attention to Rosa’s lessons and advice. Mostly, they learned from watching her work through tasks, asking her questions when needed.
     Finally, it was time to clock out. Rosa told Chester they’d done well today, even though they’d done very little besides help her out with her tasks.
     Chester stepped into the daycare. They smiled as Sun sprang into view, jumping out from behind the corner of a jungle gym and running towards them.
     “Hello my dear!! How did your shift go? Did you learn lots of things??” Sun asked after crushing Chester in a standard greeting hug.
     “I did, actually. Like how there's apparently a difference between a soldering gun and a soldering iron. How was your day? Any trouble with the kids?” Chester asked.
     “Not at all!! And in fact, today was the first day the lights were back to normal! Management let me know this morning that nap time was back in the schedule. Moon was really nervous but he did very well. The kids missed him,” Sun’s cheery disposition faltered as he seemed to realize something. “Oh, but that means the lights will be off all night! I’ll only get an hour with you before it’s Moon’s turn.”
     “You’ll still be hanging out, just like how Moon is hanging out with us right now,” Chester pointed out.
     “Yeah but it’s different.” Sun folded his arms. “I suppose I’ll just have to make the most of it!”
     Apparently, this involved practically cuddling with Chester while trying to play a board game.
     "You know, typically the players sit on opposite ends of each other for Mastermind," Chester pointed out. They weren't being serious, of course. They were far too comfortable sitting in Sun's lap, leaning back against him with his legs folded around them.
     "That's okay, I remember the colors I picked!" Sun said.
     Chester considered their colored pegs. They knew they had two colors right, and they were fairly certain the yellow one was in the right place. They switched out a red peg for a blue one on their next guess and shuffled some of the pegs around into a different order, leaving the yellow where it was.
     "Ooooooooh you're so close, but I can't say!!" Sun wiggled excitedly as he set several hint pins into their slots next to Chester's guess. "You're so good at guessing the colors!"
     "Don't give it away!" Chester laughed. They kept the colors all the same and changed their positions around.
     "I think you'll get it before the lights go out!" Sun commended.
     Chester now had all but one peg correct. They looked back at their previous guesses, trying to find which color they were missing. They'd tried pretty much every color… unless the last peg was a repeat color??
     "Ah… I've got you all figured out," Chester declared. They replaced the last peg with another yellow one.
     Sun flipped open the lid of his original lineup. "You did it!! And you still had four guesses left, good job!"
     "Thanks, but you definitely kept giving me all sorts of little hints the whole time." Chester smiled.
     "I just can't help but root for you."  Sun wrapped his arms around Chester. "Moon's coming out in a little bit. I'm getting in all the hugs I can!"
     "Do as you must." Chester accepted their fate with ease. "You mentioned you talked to management, right? Did you happen to talk about leaving the building from time to time?"
     "Oh, yes! They said nothing's been decided yet, but they would take it under consideration. We talked about possibly escorted and brief trips into town to start with, and marketing opportunities. Moon is skeptical but I think management will come around!" Sun said.
     "I see. Keep me updated, okay?" Chester asked.
     "Can do." Sun squeezed Chester lightly. "We're a little scared. About leaving the building. Leaving the daycare! But it's also exciting. And management may only start out by letting the glamrocks outside first. They'll probably have Freddy do test runs. If they even agree to it, that is! I think I'd at least like the option available to me, to leave."
     Chester nodded. "That's understandable. I really hope management agrees. Otherwise I'd need to figure out how to jailbreak all of you."
     Sun laughed, but Chester had only just barely been joking.
     Chester leaned into Sun's hug and sat there with him until the hour changed over, and all the lights turned off for the night.
     Chester leaned forwards for just long enough for Moon to finish changing before leaning right back against him. They adjusted when their back met one of the bells on Moon's cape.
     "Sun forgot to ask if you had fun," Moon said, his voice soft and quiet.
     "I did. I always have fun playing games with him. He gets really into it, it's very cute," Chester signed.
     Moon hummed. "Board games are a very serious matter. Not to be taken lightly."
     "Of course, of course." Chester noticed how still Moon was in comparison to Sun, who couldn't seem to sit still for the life of him. "Are you okay with me leaning on you like this?"
     "Yes." Moon curled ever so slightly tighter around Chester, as if he feared they'd get up. "It's okay. I'm just being careful."
     Chester's hand found one of Moon's. They squeezed it gently and gave it a little kiss, square on the back of his hand, before they could second guess the action.
     Moon's fans blasted to life. He squeezed Chester's hand back, very gently.
     "How's the eye? I haven't heard it click at all," Chester commented.
     "It's perfect. Thank you," Moon said. "I'm glad you get to stay. I'm glad you want to stay."
     "I'm glad you don't mind me staying."
     "Don't mind." Moon huffed. "Don't mind, they say. As if your presence isn't the most marvelous thing to us."
     Chester's face felt warm. "Thanks," they mumbled, unsure of what else to say in reply to that.
     Moon and Chester sat together in silence for a while. Chester fiddled with Moon's hand, testing all the joints and tracing all the little seams that held him together. If they focused, they could just barely feel the small give in his casing when they pressed down. They could feel the pressure sensors at the tips of his fingers.
     "Having fun?" Moon asked.
     "Yeah." Chester tilted their head back to look at Moon. "You're very cool."
     Moon gazed down at his hand, trying to see whatever it was that Chester seemed to see. "It's just my hand…?"
     "Yeah, but its also… intentional. In a way that human hands are by accident."
     Moon tilted his head. "…You aren't still suffering from that concussion, are you?"
     Chester rolled their eyes. "No. I mean… look at my hand, right?" Chester held up their hand, fingers splayed out. "I grew this hand. No one really made it, it just kinda happened. It grew this way because that's what my DNA told it to do. You could argue that my parents made it, but still, they didn't sit down and gather the materials and craft it by had, piece by piece. No one sat down at a table and designed it, thought about materials, design choices, whatever. It just happened. Accidental. And then take your hand."
     Chester took Moon's hand again, holding it gently so it sat palm up in their hands. "Your hand was intentional. It was designed and crafted and built with purpose. It's something someone sat down and put thought into, gathered materials for, and put in the time to craft. It's intentional."
     Moon thought about this for a moment. "Is that… good?"
     "It's neither good or bad. It's like… if everyone is a piece of art. Unique and wonderful and created somehow one way or another. Then humans are like when trees grow in funny shapes around rocks, or like when weeds brighten the crack of a concrete driveway. Not really intending to have become something messy and unique, but there none the less. And robots are like… the way the ocean tide comes and goes. Like rainfall. Like knowing the stars are always there even if you can't see them. Like, the inevitability behind the old, behind aging. Like the easy way wonderful things are so natural that they're mundane."
     "Are you calling me mundane?"
     "No." Chester laughed. "What I'm trying to say is that you're marvelous and incredible and you just are despite that. The ocean doesn't know or care that its tides come and go, they just do. Rain just falls, it doesn't care that it's rain or that it waters crops or soaks someone who regrets forgetting an umbrella. The stars don't know I miss them when I can't see them. The world is so full of crazy wonderful things, and its all so natural and regular for the world that its easy to forget how great it is. And you're something truly wonderful in the world. You're wonderful and you don't even know it because it's just how you are."
     Moon was quiet for a long time. His fans whirred quietly in his head, but otherwise he was still and silent. Chester held his hand, their fingers still now as they sat and thought.
     "What brought all this on?" Moon finally asked.
     Chester shrugged. "I've been stuck inside for so long, I guess I just miss nature and the world. I've been thinking about you and Sun a lot. And thinking about robots and sentience and just… marveling at the way of things, I guess."
     "I suppose I'm just surprised. You're so quiet and monotone, I didn't realize there was a little poetic side to you."
     Chester smiled. "I contain multitudes."
     "Hmm." Moon slowly set his faceplate atop Chester's head. "Thank you for sharing your multitudes with me. I'd love to get to know all of you."
     Something about that had Chester blushing fiercely. They were glad Moon wasn't currently looking at them. "We should probably clean up the board game."
     Moon nodded. "Sun mentions it every five minutes."
     "Oh dear." Chester smiled. They sat up and started removing colored pegs from the board. Moon gathered the box and packed everything neatly away, running a quick little scan to be sure every piece was accounted for. He got up to set the box at last back on the shelf, much to Sun's relief.
     Moon turned back to look at Chester. "…I'm not sure what comes next."
     "Well, we could play a different game if you'd like?" Chester offered.
     Moon shook his head. "I meant… next for us. We've never done anything like this before. Been more than friends with anyone."
     "Oh. Well, that's the fun part, I think. We get to figure that out together," Chester said. "Honestly, I don't really know either. My plan is to sort of just. Follow my heart, I guess? As cheesy as that sounds."
     Moon hummed uncertainly. "What if we mess up?"
     "Then we'll figure that out together too. There's not really a guide book to follow, unfortunately." Chester got to their feet and stood with Moon by the game shelf.
     "Hm. It's sort of scary." Moon tilted his faceplate to Chester. "But… we'll figure it out together?"
     "Together," Chester agreed.
     Moon reached out and held their hand. Chester smiled. They couldn't help feeling like everything would end up alright.
~THE END~
