ok ok so.

oh my gosh. i have not felt this much absolute fucking rage in a long while. i want to just cause mass destruction. i want to drop a bomb on florida as a whole. holy shit my guy.

so, basically, me and my dad were talkimg,, it started out good but then somehow politics came up, then ron desantis (recently signed away womens rights on abortion, the fucking idiot) came up and i said i dont like him. then the abortion rights came up and i said that women(and others who have female bodies but dont identify w/ it) should be allowed to abort. why should a fully conscious person have less rights than an unalive sack of cells?? moreover why should a man be in control of a womens body?? they shouldnt. like?? so anyways, i find out my dad is anti abortion. like severely to the point where he believes that if you get r@ped you shouldnt abort bc youre killing a baby. he proceded to use an example of what if some guy walked up to A LIVING FUCKING INFANT and started stabbing it? like??? what the fuck???? thats an ALIVE BABY with a conscious vs. an unalive embryo/zygote/fetus with no conscious, motor skills, etc etc.. what? i. i just. i want to violently cry. like cry until i cant. i wnat to ugly cry. i have a body that can get pregnant(for now). i am asexual. i use all pronouns (he/she/they) not really identifying or belonging to a set gender. if i get r@ped what will he do? what will his thoughts be?

so yeah. found out my dads kinda really conservative (hes made some homophobic remarks in the past).

God, I am so sorry for poking the wound. I don't blame you for feeling so burned by this fandom. There is so much negativity, and people can be awful with other fans, as you probably know. To be honest, I hope things go better for you in DA because that fandom is worse than TWDG fandom, but thanks for telling me and to be fair,I like your fics and essays. Hard to explain, but I am glad someone shares my opinion. Saying things like you like Jane and letting Lee turn can cruficy you in this fandom

No, it's all good, anon. If it's a wound, it's one that's healed over. After distancing myself from the fandom and letting myself stop writing fic for it, I can look at things differently with thicker skin, y'know? Plus, I'm so over the crowds of fans who thrive on the negativity and grandstanding.

And I definitely feel you about certain things that the fandom will crucify you for. To be fair, there are a lot of chill people left who just want to enjoy their things and make fandom buddies and have a good time. But then there are Kennys, and the reason I call them that is because they are physically incapable of being disagreed with and can turn hostile at the drop of a hat, like Kenny himself. They're not fun to interact with, everyone else just wants them to go away but they won't, and they can easily ruin your experience.

Like... it's a video game, guys. It's not the end of the world if someone has a different interpretation of the story or characters.

Let's take Louis as an example- at this point, I've written everything there is to write about him and his vote. I'll be honest and say it used to bother me a lot whenever I'd see someone call him a shithead for his vote and I'd write yet another rant explaining why he voted them out, his trauma, etc..... now I see it and I'm just like "Alright. Moving on." sksksks like I don't care if you don't like Louis/clouis anymore, to each their own, it's not worth my time anymore. It's only when you try to guilt/manipulate/invalidate others for liking Louis [or on the reverse, do it about Violet/violentine] that I have an issue but that's seemingly calmed down a lot here on tumblr. Less so on reddit and other places.

And hard agree about the DA fandom being worse. I browse a lot of the tags on here for characters I love and it's like a fucking warzone sometimes, it's absurd. I mean, it makes sense since DA has a lot of fantasy politics and y'know how people get about those, but holy shit. For a fandom that hates the chantry and templars, they sure do a lot of policing and harassment.

I hope it works out for me when I begin releasing things but I dunno sksksks I'm a very bitter, serial andersmancer and that is Not Good For Me™ in almost every way possible soooo..... we'll see.

Anyway, thanks for the messages and kind words, anon. I don't write TWDG fics anymore, and only release essays when I get the itch to write one, but I'm glad you like my older stuff. It's very appreciated!

Holy smokes dude the new act of arson chapter blew my mind. I literally can’t stop thinking about it.

The buildup of Jayme searching through the information slowly uncovering worse and worse things kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Your writing is literally enchanting, I felt like I could feel her emotions, her anger, her guilt, her fear. It was all portrayed so well and man the timing of it all is just perfect. Normally I like stuff to be a little more fast paced bc I have adhd and find it hard to pay attention to things with slow buildup but this chapter kept me hanging off of every word, anxious for the next.

This is literally the best backstory i think I have ever read. It’s crazy realistic and it brought a whole world of dimension to Jitters’ character. The way you can slowly see Jayme’s descent into becoming more and more obsessed over the whole situation as she just uncovers all this shit, all the while she’s dealing with Zoe’s absence and she’s sort of having to grieve her. When reading Jitters I thought Jayme’s, for lack of a better word, neurotic / obsessive tendencies were due to the high stress situation she was put in and I feel like I’m piecing together a puzzle now learning that her desperate need to find answers, and subsequently her getting completely caught up in the search for them is kind of like her primary trauma response.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. I hope it was coherent, my thoughts are going crazy over this so it was hard to properly word them. Just needed to let it all out so I could actually fall asleep. Stayed up until four am reading the chapter it’s that good lol. Keep up the writing! You are truly an incredibly talented person and I love reading your works 🫶

The obsessiveness of her actions, the isolation, how it is the FIRST and ONLY thing she starts & works on throughout the day. Sifting through the knowledge and piecing it all together.

THE SILENT UNDERSTANDING of Jayme and Adam, him knowing she's going to do something horrible, but helping her, driving her, not exactly knowing what she's going to do but just seeing that fuckin look on her face, the dull, worn out expression from how much energy this obsession took from her.

Then the interrogation, the silence, willing to take the fall without defending herself. Just a simple explanation of it all being for them, for her, and in a selfish way she'd never admit, this was all her own self-destructive way of redeeming her own guilt.

I saw your tags on tbk and im glad someone said it. i waited to read tbk last because everyone kept saying its dostoivskys best work but i see now why its so popular with the right-wing, podcast boys. there were parts i enjoyed but for the most part, it sucked.

the main female characters exist to be catty and dramatic (and the women in the court room of course treat the trial like a soap opera). Lise, the only one with depth, vanishes off the page.

Dmitri goes around beating, drinking, shouting and being generally awful. He cheats on Katerina, chokes Grushenkas maid and admits he couldve have killed her and also was fully ready to kill Fyodor but!! he didnt get the chance to and someone else did therefore hes a tragic character ig. seriously am i suppose to feel bad for him? cause i dont, he very much deserved to be in prison.

Ivan and Smerdyakov are both actually fascinating and both are punished by the narrative, ivan for being a well-educated atheist and Smerdyakov for not wanting to be a servant of the man who raped his mother and having ambitions to go abroad.

And finally Alyosha. i know hes adored and hes cute and all but my god does he do shit all. his crisis of faith couldve been interesting, had it lasted longer than 5 mins. after which hes exclusively a delivery boy. we are constantly told hes angelic and everyone thinks as much but what exactly he is doing to stand out is never explained. he also doesnt really engage in zosimas 'active love' when it would have been difficult but needed. most people can be kind to children- thats easy. but what about being kind to Smerdyakov and treating him as a brother? what about addressing that Dmitri is the problem rather than just being helpful to people he has slighted?

Alyosha never has to acknowledge that being passive with Dmitri and Fyodor is at odds with supporting the people they torment. Helping Dmitri escape couldve been interesting in Alyosha having to face that he might be freeing the murderer of their father but nope. he *knows* Dmitri is innocent, so no difficult choice for him.

Anyway very sorry for the rant, i was just pretty dissapointed in this book. Its heralded as a sum of dostoivskys works but it really seemed to highlight all his flaws. Its long winded and repetitive at times, the characters seem less nuanced than he usually writes, the themes are on the nose. god is good, socialism and foreign influence bad. And again, there were parts i loved and was immeresed with but holy shit did i finish it underwhelmed.

I can’t help but completely agree with you anon, I think we are on the same page after finishing the novel.

It’s obvious that the book is far from terrible, it’s complex, it has beautiful prose and an interesting narrative, but overall it's just too many things at once. I understand that Dostoyevski knew that he wouldn’t have time to finish another book so he probably put 3 in 1, so we ended up with a mix of themes and plotlines and characters that’s too convoluted at times.

And I think Fyodor doesn’t deserve to be read superficially, I don’t want to fall into the simple interpretation of “he said orthodox christianity good and atheism bad”, because the entire part of Ivan’s and Alyosha's conversation at the tavern is a debate Fyodor is having with HIMSELF about faith and god; he puts arguments in Ivan’s mouth that he KNOWS are impossible to oppose (that’s why Alyosha is unable to counter Ivan’s stance of “God might be the creator but I don’t accept the horrendous world he has created”). However, the right-wing dudebros you mention DO interpret him in simple terms because his favoritism between the brothers is TOO obvious. If the narrative punishes one side while forgiving the other for horrible sins then we have Fyodor’s judgment on paper.

I can’t help but hate Dimitri even though Fyodor wants to portray him as a victim, a romantic and a “sentimentalist”. We get to know him through a story in which he’s about to rape a poor young girl because her family needs his money, but because he changed his mind the moment she bowed to the floor and was completely vulnerable below his thumb, we have to forgive him? He’s a hedonist obsessed with money because, as Fyodor tells us, “he has never worked for a cent”. He abuses women and people around him, he lies, etc. I wouldn’t even have cared if he had killed his father. I’d even have thought it was the only good thing he did in his life.

Ivan is punished in the most cruel way: his intellect and mind are taken away from him as he falls into madness. And for what? For rejecting a cruel god and understanding that his country needs the new ideas being born in Europe? For being an intellectual? I feel like Fyodor wanted to show us a contrast between him and Alyosha and I can’t help but laugh because at least Ivan was an ACTIVE character that had an effect on the narrative. Also blaming him for Smerdiacov’s actions? Dostoyevski's thesis through this plotline is basically: “Look at what happens! You intellectuals will write your academic papers and ideas and then stupid people will read them and cause mayhem. Therefore YOU are the gilty one.” But then he turns around and gives us religious sermons and applauds orthodox christianity, as if religion and the church are not the best example of misinterpreting ideas and causing harm and violence.

Also, how does he expect me to feel like Smerdiacov was a bad person? I don’t care that he killed his horrible father. If something, he should’ve done it sooner. Even more, he is the bravest and smartest of the Karamazov brothers because he decided to cut the cause of all their suffering from the root, and even come out rich out of it. He couldn’t choose the fate his mother and he had been given but he could choose freedom and he did so. But again, Fyodor punishes him and tells us he was a coward that would‘ve chosen death before consequence. It’s almost like he thinks that some people are really born to be a slug that lives in the mud and any desire to become something else is an unforgivable sin.

And Alyosha, he could be replaced by a plant in a pot and the plot wouldn’t change a bit. He is passive, ignorant and naive, and Fyodor applauds it because he thinks that that’s what Russian people need; if they are naive and never get in contact with DANGEROUS new ideas and follow their religious teachings everything will be fine. Which is the most idiotic thesis in my opinion. And don’t get me started on the classism and the paternalistic view of “the peasants”, it made me throw up a little. And the misogyny. Ah! Everything young right-wing men who just discovered “nihilism” would love to read and feel vindicated.

Even though I didn't like the general idea of the novel there were some parts that I truly loved, my favorite part being that conversation between Ivan and Alyosha at the tavern. And to finish, Dostoyevski is a men’s writer, he's a masculinist perspective of the worst of the worst, but nonetheless a damn good writer.

TW the fact that you’re considering running away and even attempted to off yourself just shows how awful your living situation is. However, you should probably look into emancipation more than running away since emancipation won’t legally get you in trouble and it’s the safer option. I know you are in a stressful spot right now but please don’t do anything rash, especially running away. Running away can be extremely dangerous especially with how young you are and that’s why I think emancipation is a better option. Idk if your state allows people that young to legally move out and became independent but at least see it it’s an option by searching online or asking for legal advice and if it isn’t, you should probably wait until next year or the year after to go to court but it’ll be worth it and you’ll be so proud and happy that you no longer have to be stuck in a toxic household. Whatever you do though, just make sure to believe in yourself and be easy on yourself because you can do it and regardless of what happens, you don’t deserve what’s happening to you right now and you deserve to be happy and free.

dc anon here :D i’ll just start by saying holy shit i think we have the same brain because i also thought tee would like dick and steph (absolutely loved that u mentioned jason cuz he’s my silly billy <3). and yeah u get it !!! the entire concept of robin being batman’s light is what she would love about their dynamic. tee is one of those steph stans that jumps at the very mention of batman and robin just to go on a rant aboutt how steph is usually overlooked (and she’s right !!!! #justiceforstephaniebrown)

- will read the books that you’re reading just because he likes the feeling of being able to bond with you over something you love since you’re so supportive of him already (literally the perfect man. perfect bf. give me a kiss rn RN!!)

- maybe not all of them, but if you get him hooked on the description, then he will probably finish the book faster than you

- if he doesn’t like a book very much he’ll take ages to finish it though

- if you ask him about how he’s doing with reading it he’ll be like “oh i’m almost done” when in reality he’s only 20 pages in

- he’ll send you texts about the books you recommend but they’ll be super blunt like “this character just died” or “oh they kissed”

- you sit at your phone for 20 minutes debating on how to respond to those because HOW??

- he loves cuddles,,,, would literally die for cuddles

- so when you climb into his lap with a book in hand and bury your head in his neck as you read his heart literally malfunctions

- iwaizumi.exe has stopped working

- but he’s also not afraid to pull you into his lap if he sees you reading on the couch

- probably also buried his nose in your hair and revels in your scent (also kisses your head every so often because he can’t help it and AHHHH HES SO CUTE)

- when you start sending him messages about your books, he will attempt to respond to every single text or he will just wait until you’re done and text back with “u done?” (not in a mean way though) there’s no inbetween

- he’s smiling every time you send him those texts though

- aoba johsai’s volleyball team (ESPECIALLY OIKAWA) teases him mercilessly if they ever catch him smiling at his phone in the locker room or during class or during lunch (basically u text him a lot lol)

- sometimes when you slam your book shut and scream into your pillow, he will just watch you with amused eyes and probably make an offhand comment that’s similar to “remember to breathe while you’re at it.”

- you end up throwing the pillow at him (which he catches and then proceeds to walk to where you are and swing you over his shoulder)

- get your mind out of the gutter on the “over his shoulder” part i swear he’s just teasing you for throwing a pillow at him (I CAN FEEL YOUR MIND WANDERING STOP IT)

OIKAWA.

- he makes an effort to read your books, really he does

- he’s just really busy, so most of the books he promises he will read stay only half way read through and never picked up ever again

- if you give him a sci-fi book though, this man will literally finish it at an insane pace

- literally he would be the one to text you at some ungodly hour (usually 3AM in the morning) because he just finished the book in one sitting and he’s literally brimming with reactions

- will text things like “WHAT THE FUCK HE JUST DIED”, “YN SEND HELP I THINK THEY’RE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING STUPID”, “OH MY GODDDD I HATE THIS BITCH CAN THEY STOP TALKING” (always in all caps whenever he’s reacting to a book)

- you better pray that he doesn’t end up hating a character because he will text you every single time they show up on a page and complain about them

- “this character reminds me of ushijima why would you put me through this 🤕🤕”

- or “THEYRE TALKING AGAIN?? WHEN WILL THEY GET THE MEMO THAT I WANT THEM TO . ST F U ‼️😻”

- anyways, if it’s not sci-fi, it’s probably sitting on his nightstand and never touched again until you steal the book back

- CLAIMS he tried reading them (he got 2 pages in and then put it down)

- he is also a huge cuddler

- but you will not be able to read in his lap because he’s so fucking whiny

- “y/n-channn pay attention to meeee. you can read about that insanely hot dude in your book when you’re not already sitting in an insanely hot dude’s lap”

- big pouty face

- it works every single time and you hate him for it

- once you put your book down he will not let you go for a good ten minutes

- he also has tons of pictures of you reading on his phone because he thinks you’re so cute and feels like he has to snap a picture so he can remember how cute you looked at that very moment

- a lot like iwaizumi, oikawa will attempt to reply to every single one of your book related texts (except oikawa succeeds at replying to every single one)

- like you could literally send him fifty text messages in a row and you will get fifty replies back

TERUSHIMA.

- i am so sorry to say this but i genuinely cannot see terushima being interested in your books whatsoever

- he thinks that it’s boring and always questions how you can just sit down for hours on end and just read

- this changes when you give him one of those insane, mind-boggling, really dark, murder-mystery books

- he’ll scoff at it but after a lot of begging on your part, he’ll give it a try

- he loves it

- he told you that he never got bored and that feeling like that while reading a book is so weird to him

- that is the only book you’ll ever get him to read though (okay maybe he’ll read a few more if you beg him for it with that cute pouty face of yours that he cannot resist)

- like he’ll treat that murder mystery book as a holy grail and insist that nothing will ever top it

- i’m sorry again but he probably texts you “what u doing rn?” and if you say something about reading he’ll try to get you to do literally anything else (most likely will send a horny text to try and steal you away from your reading, let’s be honest here)

- “come over baby you can experience all that you’re reading in that book first hand 😏😏😏”

- if you send him text reactions of your book he will most likely reply with “awe babe ur so cute” but not say anything about the books in itself (IM SORRY HE’S NOT MEAN ABOUT IT THOUGH)

- cuddling with him while reading will never happen

- seriously

- he will do everything in his power to get you to put the book down

- like start peppering you with kisses or tickling you

- he just can’t stand sitting down in silence for so long lol

- he doesn’t put you down for reading though

- like yeah he might not understand it and thinks it’s boring, but he admires that you care so much about it and also admires your commitment

DAICHI.

- admires you for reading honestly

- like i feel like he’s the type to get really good grades but will not look at a book that he hasn’t been assigned to read for his life

- that being said, he probably has never read any of the books you ask him to read with you

- he’s told you he’s read one or two which is a lie (you know it’s a lie but you don’t tell him that because you know he feels bad about not reading them)

- he isn’t on his phone often so most of the time your texts don’t get answered for hours

- it’s kinda fun that way though because after a while you just start sending him long text threads and it’s like talking to yourself

- when he does respond it’s with something like “you look like you had fun there” (after that he’ll apologize for not seeing it and then ask if you had anything else about the book that you wanted to tell him about AWEHISHFNF)

- very good listener!! he’ll try and have a genuine conversation about the book even if he hasn’t read it (like if you want to talk about how you think the plot doesn’t work, he will either support you or give you valid reasons that sparks constructive conversation)

- will absolutely never see the texts you send at 1AM (until the morning) because he always passes out before 11PM

- will see them in the morning and will text back “well good morning to me”

- he has absolutely no clue what you’re talking about in the texts but tries his hardest to be supportive

- cuddling while you’re reading happens nearly every single time you’re together

- is very stressed from dealing with his volleyball children so he’ll more than happily sit on the couch and cuddle with you as you read

- sometimes he falls asleep while you cuddle and you just snuggle into him and it’s so cute

AKAASHI.

- THIS LITTLE SHIT

- man oh man he loves acting like a smart ass whenever you text him about your books

- you’ll be like “my favorite character just died!!” and he’ll be like “well tell them to not die then wtf”

- will stay up late texting you about your book though because he’s most likely reading it with you so you two can bounce ideas off of each other

- if you like a character that he hates he will not hesitate to start a debate about why you shouldn’t like that character (full one page of reasons. this man takes his opinions very seriously)

- if you’re together at his house or something and you start yelling at your book he’ll be like “y/n don’t hurt its feelings.”

- you momentarily pause your yelling to deadpan him

- he stares right back

- “just be nice.” (you’re like BWAH???)

- HE ALSO YELLS AT HIS BOOKS THOUGH

- it’s uncommon but it does happen

- if you’re both reading or you’re doing homework and he’s reading, he’ll slam the book shut and yell about how stupid this character is (and when i mean yell, i mean yell)

- and if he doesn’t like the ending of something he will rant for days and you’ll have to remind him to take a breath

- he gets so hyped up from reading books it’s so cute

- will read with you when you cuddle read (does that make sense??? like when you cuddle with him while reading)

- will mumble things under his breath while you’re both reading but you’re on his lap so you can hear everything and you just laugh

- one time he mumbled “stupid bitch just fucking die already” to this character he hated

- you had to put down the book because you were laughing so hard

AL question: is george gonna get any more powerful? i found it a bit odd that so many people could block out his telepathy despite him being a level IV psychic, and ig with dream i understand bc of ~dnf~ reasons. but so many other characters can too??? it could also just be because he's had like zero training but idk. also i just think it'd be pretty badass if george was like mega-powerful, but that'd kinda ruin the whole plot lmao. OOH ALSO [cue rant] i had always wondered: why are psychics so feared in this world???? can't most only just levitate shit and maybe slightly be able to read people's minds???? but then you mentioned something about george flying and i got confused, so i did a ton of research (bc im a nerd), specifically about telekinesis/telepathy, and i found out that THEY ARE SO FUCKING COOL????? HELLO?????? i found this like whole wiki page about telekinesis (i totally recommend you check it out it's awesome) and let me tell you, i was FLABBERGASTED. LIKE HOLY SHIT???? GEORGE COULD POTENTIALLY WARP REALITY OR BECOME FUCKING IMMORTAL IF HE WANTED TO, IS THAT NOT THE COOLEST?????? now ofc, i have no idea how powerful you're gonna make george, and this not me trying to convince you to change your story. obviously you're the author here, i'm merely just an excited reader. BUT HOLY SHIT TELEKINESIS IS NOT TO BE FUCKED WITH (and neither is george for that matter). anyways yea, i hope you enjoyed my massive rant. i usually only get this excited abt stuff when i'm blown away by its quality, so keep up that amazing work! <3

The answer is a resounding: YES! It's not so much that he's going to get more powerful but that he's going to gain more control of his abilities. The whole thing about superpowers is often that even if someone might have a lot of power, it doesn't necessarily mean they can channel it. The more power you have, the harder it is to use in a stable manner. Think of it in terms of skill. More skill means you apply it to more things and in different ways—ballet at a beginners level isn't an intensive as professional ballet, etc. Type I Psychics only levitate things, and that's basically it for more Psychics. And if you think about it, you're right. They're not as dangerous as they're made out to be, but ultimately, discrimination doesn't necessarily revolve around logic. Throughout history, humans have outcasted groups of people for reasons that make no sense all solely to have a power dynamic that makes them most powerful. Essentially, it boils down to human psychology, but before I go off, I'll just let the story speak for itself because there will be a lot more of that in Elysium :] I'm a huge psychology nerd aha!

And in terms of the superhero wikia (and the many variants) which I know what you're talking about since it is where I go to for all my superpower info needs, I've been using it since I started this universe back when I was like 15 lmaooo! I LOVE IT!!! I can't say that all the powers are the same because a lot of times it boils down to adaptation. The EM universe doesn't portray as crazy as some of the powers in the wiki, but it's a great source to use when looking for inspiration on how to come up with what kind of powers you want to incorporate into the world, etc. It makes me so happy to you took the time to look into it! I am a HUGE superhero nerd! X-men, Teen Titans, MCU, Arrowverse, DCU shows—I've had hyperfixations everywhere so I just kind of bundled up all my knowledge into a Thanos-level glove to use when I can for the EM universe because it's my baby. Though if I were to compare it, I'd fall most closely related to the X-men because they dealt with a lot of discrimination-based things that to young me was FASCINATING. It's why this universe basically revolves around it since human nature has always been the most fascinating thing to me. Man, I love psychology. Anyway, sorry for the rant, you got me very excited.

I’ve never seen Twitter this bad holy shit. Karl fans are getting death threats, Ice Poseidon is trying to claim Karl “dragged him through the mud”, Dream had a pastebin about education which is a subtle move in support of Karl, the commentary community is supporting Ice Poseidon and blaming Dream stans (of course).

Karl supported a racist streamer, spammed emottes that he had no intention of being anti-Semitic but came off as such, and collabed with problematic creators (Pokimane had addressed and apologized about the n word so many times and I believe they worked it out with the transphobia in the discord and the Poki apologized for that as well but don’t quote me on that, I’m not touching Lil Nas bc he’s history goes back). He obviously has grown and feels guilty about it. He didn’t kill Christ and everyone is treating him like he did. He did hurt minorities and he’s held himself accountable for it but Twitter is just being so toxic on both sides.

I wonder how many of these people aggressively attacking his fans also supported people like James Charles, Brendon Urie, Shawn Dawson, Jeffere Star, David Dobrik, and a slew of others? I know it’s because of Karl’s platform that it’s risen to this level but this situation is a bit different compared to a cc saying a slur 5-years back.

I’m not going to baby him but I am worried about him. I can’t imagine the amount of death threats and hate he’s getting, especially from people who were just waiting to take him down.

Sorry for ranting in anon but this situation is so frustrating as someone who is POC. I feel like I can’t even say my own opinion or give my view respectfully without getting death threats or hate.

don’t feel scared about giving your opinion!!! speak your truth!! you, especially as a poc, should give your opinion on this situation. to put my little opinion about the lil nas thing, that shit about him is hidden well, plus he’s a LARGE celebrity who manyyyy people like. I don’t blame Karl for taking the opportunity to be able to play mc with him. Karl doesn’t need to apologize for the actions of someone else (FYI I’m not excusing lil nas and his actions, dude fucked up big time IMO)

and yep, both side on twitter are being extremely toxic. the commentary community shouldn’t be dragging Dreams name into this discourse anyway 🙄 but they are certainly using this situation as an excuse to say actually offensive things. and the other side who’s unwilling to hear how people change (and sending death threats to Karl and others...)

Karl obviously has the support of his friends. Dream may have said that pastbin wasn’t about anything but we all know the Karl situation was what inspired him to say it. (also what Dream said did get me thinking a lot more, i hope it changed people’s opinion)

there is a difference between having an actual rasict past and having moments of ignorance.

Having on the extreme side of the argument need to shut up and go outside and actually talk to some real people

First of all, every single episode made me cry in one way or another

Second, and I think I mentioned this on discord but. FUCK I wished I had these sorts of friends when I was younger

Like, I love my secondary school mates to death, but we never talked openly really, and that was hard when figuring out sexuality stuff. Like, the first time I said out loud that I wasn't straight was on DofE, and there,,, wasn't a reaction? Like I wasn't looking for applause but at least acknowledgement that it was a difficult thing to say.

And then i get to sixth form and suddenly I'm surrounded by out and proud people who are warm and welcoming and I'm like where the fuck were you guys??

So to see a group so kind and happy with each other at Charlie's age made me so fucking happy

On that note, when Nick said "I wish I'd met you when I was younger" I burst into tears, because same!!! I wish I had a Charlie!!! Someone to be open with and supportive!!!

And ohmygodddd Elle!!! The focus is on how happy she is in a new welcoming environment and how better she's doing and not just the trans struggle to be out which is so refreshing??? Like she's a person who can just be now and that made me so smileyyy

ALL!! OF!! THIS!!! YES, I swear every episode probably made me cry too GOD!! And I think it's because they're were so many moments that yes, just felt so so real. Like when you were saying how he wish he knew Charlie when he was younger and you go "yes!!".

Like that's me doing my little am I gay test, and hiding in teacher's classrooms at lunch, and me at my silly all girls school, and coming out on ig, and having this dumb lil smile when my friend actually casually referred to me as gay for the first time, and getting with my bestie when I wasn't fully out and having these secret kisses and doing the stereotypical thing where you nudge each others hands together, like I had my fuckin running back in the rain for a lil kiss movie moment!! And then here I am watching it play out in front of me, same age for the time and fucking everything and like "that's me!!!!" ;-;

And the idea of that show being there for me while I was younger or some kid watching it as they go through it too like!! To know that these aren't alienating experiences and to see this happy joyous sunny moments is making me sob.

And ELLE!!! YES!! Her storyline was so good, showing how you can have these storylines without it being focused on these horrible struggles and her big focus on the importance on positive change and growth was so fucking beautiful <3

hi so i.found ur blog and its honestly like a breath of fresh air to look at so if its ok i might just fuckin,,vent here.

so. ik a lot of other people have been talking abt how pof was really straining to watch and i am.very late to the party but i need to talk abt it bcz holy fuck. when i first watched it i was in a way better place mwntally, also the general excitement of wow,content kinda overrode the headache and the eye hurty and the just. bad. but i was rewatching it recently because i was basing a fic off it and i just. i couldnt finish it because all of it was just so much and there was no fuckin warning?? so that was pog ig

next thing because i have. a lot of thoughts. ive been in the fandom for not-very-long, i joined in the middle of 2019 or something.and it just kinda sucks because im only still here for the fandom. i love the series but i can only watch dwit and compilations of logan/roman being sad so much before i can basically recite them off the top of my head. but i reallyreally love writing for the fandom!! it makes me so happy to do the writing, its just the fact that im not as invested with the series that makes me feel,,idk man guilty ig?? anyway thats too deep for a rant so im.a move on

god so tw me not liking post aa virgil and me talking abt toxic friends but hoooly fuck man. i just. pre aa virgil was fun because he was snarky and sarcastic and i could actually stand the nagst because his character made sense?? he was the 'bad guy' and he wasnt as woobified back then and he was honestly a solid vibe. but post aa virgil gives off the vibe of that one friend who fuckin, gets angry at you when you bring up any of your mental health issues and then blames their outburst on their mental health issuea and its like?? no i hate that character dynamic. people say bad things when the feel bad, sure, ik i have, but its the vibe of 'im gonna threaten you and then blame it on my mental health but if you so much as look at me wrong while ur having sensory overload or something i will smite you with the force of one thousand suns' and i am just.so tired. also ithink someone else said this but we should just call the series 'virgil sanders and the rest' because thats what it is now ksbdjqkbsq

also (all ofthese are my opinions btw and im not trying to say im rigbt im just tired honestly) the way. in pof the way patton's whole thing is 'you need empathy' is not funky fresh for both people with low empathy and high empathy 😎 bcz ppl with too much/too little empathy are always told theyre 'cold' or that theyre 'oversensitive', the whole 'there is an average amount of empathy and if u dont have that fuck you actually' is icky and bad and gross. i do think patton's character is really well done in the series but that episode jjust personally. ick.

and finally the moment uve not been waiting for bcz this is probably really tiring to read but the moment youve been waiting for-fwsa.just. why. its cute and stuff and i love nico. nico is a vibe. also bathroom man john is great. but shouldnt roman still be on shit terms with thomas?? like lk we're just gonna sweep away the whole 'i thought i wad ur hero' shizz? cool cool, glad to know romans arc still aint happening. also i get it, we needed to cement that virgil is a light side now. but like..did we?? actually bcz this is so long im gonna send in a second ask (im sososorry if this clogs up ur ask box if u tell me to stop i will i just. many thoughts) abt how even though i hate virgil, his arc should have been done. so differently. just gonna put like,, a mushroom emoji here so u can put the 2 asks together if u want 🍄

You’re always free to vent here! Sorry it took so long to respond but life has a cruel habit of getting in the way of things I need to do.

So for starters, the POF problem should be talked about more so I can assure you that you’re not late to the party. It never really got the amount of attention it deserved so I am more than willing to bring that back up and trust me, you’re not alone.

And again, you’re not alone in this either! Plenty of people still enjoy creating content for these characters. You don’t have to feel guilty for not finding the actual series interesting because honestly, I’m kinda losing interest too. But I still love these characters and I love that the fandom is still creating stories with them through different mediums.

Honestly I agree with just about everything you said about Virgil and I do eventually plan on tackling a lot of this in a future post. You know, if I ever force myself to just sit down and write the dang thing...

Oh my gosh I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this because that whole thing about empathy in POF really ticked me off because you’re absolutely right, not everyone is 100% empathetic, and some people can be empathetic to a point where it hurts themselves. Like I get what they were trying to say but it came across as, well, like you said. “If you’re don’t have this exact level of empathy then eff you I guess you’re a bad person.” Maybe that actually wasn’t their intention but it sure came across that way and maybe I’ll go into it a little more in another post because now that I’ve been reminded of it again I kinda wanna talk about it more.

Okay yes, FWSA on its own is a good episode. Heck, it’s one of my favorites. It feels closer to a season one episode than ATHD that’s for sure. The problem with this episode isn’t the quality but the fact that it comes right after POF. And I’ve basically gone over this in my “Problem With Asides” post and how it affects both Roman and Virgil’s current arcs so I won’t go into much more detail here but just know that I pretty much agree with all of this.

Also don’t worry about cluttering up my inbox. It’s here for people to share their thoughts and that’s exactly what you’re doing! Hope to see your part two soon mushroom anon!
