Nosy friends and lunch
“What?” Cecilia answered the call request coming from discord, her friends have been spamming her with texts and facetime and she hasn’t accepted any calls or replied to any texts, thank you Charles Leclerc for being a snitch.
“Finally!” Lando was the first to speak, Cecilia didn’t even look at the phone, she continued getting ready, it’s still lockdown she wasn’t leaving to meet Max for once… he was coming over for the first time, they’ve been meeting regularly(at least three times a week)  for the last couple of months. At times she’d go after Nathalie fell asleep, she hadn’t taken Nattie with her to Max’s since that day, but she had been talking to him on the phone, like she does with Charles and her other uncles. It was cute how her daughter would talk with Charles in almost all French and with Max in almost all English. Her daughter is growing up like her and her brother, but that’s besides the point.
“What do you guys need? I’m busy.”
“We can see, so who is coming over?” Hearing Pierre’s voice made her glance at the phone to see who was actually in the call, of course her friends from karting plus Lando.
“Oh my god! You all are so nosy, how did you find out anyway?” She asked knowing that she hasn’t said anything, not even to Charles.
“I may have talked to your mum.” Charles confessed with a proud smile.
“You should be scared Charlotte! That’s creepy behaviour!” Cecilia shouted through the phone knowing that his girlfriend is sitting next to him, she heard her laugh. “Why did I give you my mum’s number again.”
“Don’t try to change the subject Cecilia, when were you going to tell us?” Alex asked, he looked comfy, sitting back on his sofa with a smoothie or juice or something sipping from a straw. In fact they all looked like they were sitting for a gossip session.
“Tell you what? There’s nothing to tell.”
“Why are you putting makeup on then?” Pierre asked, itching for new gossip.
“It’s just the basic stuff.” Cecilia said, shrugging still continuing with her makeup.
“What did I miss?” George asked, joining the call, Cecilia wanted to pull her hair and block all her friends.
“Little miss secrets here, is getting ready for a date with Max.” Lando told his fellow brit.
“It’s not a date, he’s meeting my parents.” Cecilia said before she could think and sighed, they all howled with laughter.
“You’re already meeting the parents.” Charles said laughing, it was all in good fun, and things have been boring since covid started.
“You all met my parents before, each and everyone of you.” Cecilia said and pointed at them. “You know what, I’m blocking you all.”
With that she ended the call to finish getting ready in peace, they got on her nerves sometimes. She needs more females in her life.
“I just got here.” George groaned.
“You don’t think she’ll actually do it, do you?” Alex asked, suddenly concerned.
“I don’t think so.”
“Me neither.” Charles and Lando comforted the others, they just sat there for a while contemplating the duo, and how they thought things would turn out to be like. Charles knew your mother would tell him if he asked.
Tumblr media
Cecilia finished getting ready and went to help her mum with the last of the food, Cecilia really wasn’t dressed up, she just had light makeup and a sundress, it was getting warmer now, and they were eating out on the terrace. Seeing her mum in a dress Nattie also wanted to change into a dress as well.
“Go help her, your dad and I will finish here.” her mum said and patted her back, Cecilia took Nattie to her room and made her choose the dress she wanted, midway she heard the doorbell ring, and she knew Max had arrived.
Max was greeted by your dad, he of course saw him before, but it was always from afar they never talked. “Nice to meet you sir.”
“You too, come in please.” Max was led inside he glanced around, this is the house you grew up and lived your whole life in, the penthouse is bigger than the apartment he lives in, for one he rents they own, this one is two stories with apparently a gym. But it felt lived in, from what Cecilia told him is that her dad’s family had generational wealth, but her mum came from a humble bringing, so yes they had the best things in life, but her mum made them know how lucky and privileged they were. As teens they had to work to earn their money, and learn to do things on their own, they never had a nanny or a chef, someone did come in to clean twice a week, so they did their chores, their mum really wanted them to grow up as normal as she could when your dad is a billionaire.
“I didn’t know what to bring.” Max said and handed her dad a couple of wine bottles, he had ordered online. Looking at her dad, he saw a lot of him in Cecilia and in turn Nathalie, all their colours are her dad, her lips and nose being the only thing he couldn’t place on him.
“You didn’t need to bring anything, but we’ll enjoy it I’m sure.” Cecilia’s dad led him inside to the living room, not the formal one for guests, the one they hosted their friends and family in, the walls were all mostly glass with doors leading to the big terrace. “Cecilia is changing Nattie, the girl took one look at her mum in a dress and suddenly she wants to wear one too.”
“Max! Hello.” Cecilia’s mum walked up with open arms greeting the man, Max had just sat down, stood up quickly just as he was pulled in a motherly hug, she kissed his cheeks like the french one on each side before she pulled back.
“Nice to meet your Mrs. Hansson.” Max greeted the smiley woman, and he knew where you took your lips and nose from, the perfect blend between your parents.
“Please call me Adeline.” She waved his formalities off. “I saw you grow up with Cecilia, sorry I look like a mess.”
“No, no you don’t… Do you need some help.” Max offered, he could smell the food already coming from the kitchen.
“Nonsense, sit down and talk with Börje, I’m almost done.” With that she gracefully left, sitting back down he faced Cecilia’s dad.
“Cecilia told us you’re quarenting alone.” Börje said and Max nodded, they talked a little about what he was doing since lockdown started, her dad shared how hard it was to run a business from home, especially since HQ was in sweden.
“Pappa, don’t bore him with your work.” Cecilia called to her dad as Nattie ran in the room to her grand-père before she saw Max and turned to run to him, Max caught the girl and pulled her up on the sofa beside him.
“He’s not bored.” Her dad said acting hurt by her words after rolling his eyes. “I’m not boring you Max am I?”
“No, not at all.” Shaking her head at him, MAx greeted her daughter, before he stood up and gave her a small hug.
“In that case, take care of my child while I help maman.” Cecilia said and turned to her dad. “Can you set the table?”
“Sure thing Älskling.” (Darling) Her dad said and the men moved out to the terrace, there was a cabinet there with a sink and everything for when they had BBQs out there, it was filled with plates and cutlery. Once again Nathalie wanted to help so Max had her placing the spoons and forks in their place. If your dad had doubts about Max before they’re starting to disappear now. He saw Max like the public saw him, only what he presented, and to be honest he doesn’t like Jos but seeing how he talked with Nattie, his instincts as a father were calm.
After they were done with the table, the men found themselves by the railing, Max was looking at the view, glancing at the girl who was swinging on the small playground set, her granddad had installed for her.
“Cecilia might kill me for saying this but, when she was pregnant she used to watch a lot of your races.” Börje told the driver he was amused thinking about it now, because if he thinks too deeply all he feels is rage and sadness, an overwhelming feeling of sadness.
“Did she?” Max asked and turned to copy Cecilia’s dad’s stance, they leaned back on the railing, this is news to him.
“Yeah, she’d say how she wanted to do that, she’d dream of getting in F1. Did you know that Ferrari were in talks with her in 2016 about maybe signing her and having her as a reserve driver.” Max looked surprised at the news, Cecilia got pregnant during negotiations and her lawyer(dad’s lawyers) got her out of the deal with smooth talks and ended things on a good note for future possibilities. “Right when she got pregnant, it took a lot for her to decide what to do. She was glowing when she held Nattie and told us she wanted to get back into racing.”
“She’s lucky she had you supporting her, not many parents would.” Max spoke the truth, wealthy or not, not many parents would have their adult children’s backs like that.
“She’s my girl, even if she’s an adult with a daughter of her own, that's my baby girl.” Börje said, before Max called for Nattie to be careful, right before Börje was about to, the girl took to swinging and then jumping. The set was on a type of foam mat but she could still hurt herself. “Cecilia has always been honest with us, and I can see that you care, not many men would get in a relationship with a woman who has a child, but like I told you, that’s my little girl and I don’t want to see her heartbroken.”
“She won’t I promise.” Max promised his eyes and tone telling the truth, Börje smiled and patted his back.
“Max, can you help Cecilia bring out the food?” Adeline asked coming out with the salad, when Börje moved to also help she gave him a look, happily married for 30 years now, made him understand her with only a look.
When Max walked in the kitchen he was met with Cecilia taking a baking dish out of the oven before she sat it on the counter. “Need help?”
“Huh, yeah. Mum made so much food you’d think she’s feeding an army.” Cecilia said and looked at all the food sitting in trays and serving dishes, the quantity wasn’t a lot but she made a lot of options. “We'll all be eating this for days to come.”
Max came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her, she smiled and turned her head kissing his cheek. “Haven’t been able to say hi properly.”
“Sorry about that.” She turned in his arms and hugged him around the neck, his arms around her waist, they stood there for a moment before they pulled back, as much as Max wanted to kiss her lips, they’re at your parent’s house and they’re here, so out of respect for them he kissed her forehead before he pulled away and they started bringing the food out, on the last trip she got a bottle of chilled white wine and room temp red one(one of the ones Max brought) along with a wine looking glass that had juice for the little princess.
Max and Cecilia sat across from her parents with Nattie between her mum and her boyfriend to be(?). They didn’t want to label it, but they are kind of in a relationship. If you spend  time with a man, occasionally kiss said man, talk to said man at all hours of the day and night, go to his house three times a week so you’d spend time together doesn’t that mean you’re dating? Please someone tell Cecilia to make a move already.
Max turned up his charm for the day, he had her parents laughing and engaging in all sorts of conversation, he complimented the cooking, the house, he even managed to talk business with her dad. All points for him in their book. Hearing Cecilia laugh with a man like she hasn’t in over four years made the points easy to give. With eyes that only parents had, they watched how when she laughed as she leaned towards him, her arm falling on his shoulder even with Nattie between them it all looked natural, a family in the making.

“I’m sorry, I must have misheard you,” you said in polite disbelief, “I thought I heard you say that the reservation got mixed up.” Your smile was wavering, quickly losing patience as the hotel receptionist nervously clicked through her computer program.
“My sincere apologies, ma’am, but there is nothing I can do. The reservation for the wedding block clearly states that the maid of honor and best man are to share a room. The rest of the hotel is booked, I’m afraid,” the receptionist gulped, pushing her glasses up her nose anxiously.
“Oh, come on, Y/N, it won’t be so bad. We can cuddle,” you looked over at Taehyung, brown leather jacket slung over his shoulder, a lollipop in his right hand. He popped it back into his mouth, shooting you a wink as you glared at him.
Kim Taehyung—best man and a ranking member of your Top 10 Least Favorite People. Your best friend’s fiancé, Park Jimin, and him had been friends for years. Unfortunately for you, that meant seeing him on birthdays, at holiday parties, nights out with your bestie and Jimin—he was always there. And now apparently, he was spending the wedding weekend sharing the same hotel room as you.
“We will do no such thing,” you responded, shuddering at the thought. “You better keep it in your pants long enough to get through this weekend.” Taehyung held his hands up, feigning innocence.
Over the past few years, you had gotten used to seeing Taehyung with numerous women. Pretty girls seemed to throw themselves at him. His nonchalant attitude about it and inability to stop flirting with everyone, including you, was one of the many reasons you disliked having him around.
You turned back to the receptionist. “Fine, it’s only two nights.” She handed you the keys to your room with an apologetic smile. You passed one to Taehyung, shoving past him with your suitcase to head to the elevator. You heard him thank the receptionist before following you.
“Don’t be like that, sweetheart,” Taehyung said, beating you to the elevator door as it opened, holding it for you. You rolled his eyes at his attempt to be gallant. “The bride and groom wanted us to get along this weekend, anyway. Think of it as a crash course in bonding with me.”
You punched the number four on the elevator panel, the doors closing, trapping you inside with Taehyung.
“I would rather stab my eye with a fork than bond with you, Taehyung.” He let out a loud laugh at that one. “I am here because my best friend is getting married. I refuse to let you ruin this weekend for me.”
“Same here, sweetheart. We’re all here for the happy couple.”
You ignored him as you made your way down the hotel hallway, opening the door to your shared room, groaning as you saw the one large bed against the wall.
“Of course,” you mumbled sarcastically under your breath.
“See? I told you we could cuddle,” Taehyung said, breath tickling your neck as he spoke too close to you. You flinched away from him in annoyance.
“Whatever. Just stay out of my way, alright?”
“Anything for you.”
48 hours to go.
---
Between checking on the bride and locking yourself in the bathroom to get ready for the rehearsal dinner, you successfully avoided Taehyung as he lounged on the bed and flipped through the channels on the hotel television.
You stepped out of the bathroom, hairspray and perfume mixing in the air in an invisible cloud behind you.
“Alright, your turn,” you said to Taehyung, packing your clutch purse for the evening. You didn’t hear him moving from his spot on the bed, so you turned around, ready to remind him that he only had an hour before he had to be on his best behavior fulfilling his best man duties. His gaze had gotten soft as he looked at you, his lips upturned at the side in a small smile. “What are you looking at?” He snapped out of it at your tone, hopping off the bed like nothing had happened. He put his hand on your hip as he passed you, the space tight between the bed and the dresser in the small room. Your skin tingled underneath the light pressure of his fingertips.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it,” Taehyung said, closing the door to the bathroom with a resounding click.
44 hours to go.
---
The rehearsal dinner was a success. Everything was in place for tomorrow—all you had to do was make sure your best friend made it down the aisle.
Well, and not strangle your unexpected roommate in the meantime.
You fluffed your pillows, trying, and failing, to get comfortable.
“Would you stop fidgeting and go to sleep?” Tae asked, voice muffled by his own pillow.
“I’m trying,” you hissed. “Maybe it would help if you stopped hogging all of the blankets.” You yanked the covers over to your side of the bed, trying to get an even share.
“If you need me to keep you warm, all you have to do is ask,” Taehyung offered, tone laced with mischief. You didn’t need to turn your head to know he was smirking in the darkness. You huffed, choosing to ignore him.
Rolling over, you pulled the comforter up under your chin, closing your eyes tightly.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” Taehyung cooed.
“Goodnight,” you grumpily responded.
39 hours to go.
---
Taehyung woke up to hair brushing against his cheek, arm wrapped snuggly around a soft, warm figure. He buried his face into his pillow, breathing in the smell of lavender-scented shampoo, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the silky material underneath the palm of his hand.
His eyes shot open when he realized who was next to him. Fingers freezing against you, he pulled his arm away slowly, trying not to wake you. You’d kill him if you found out the two of you woke up cuddling like this. You’d definitely kill him if you found out that he wished he could stay like this all morning.
He quietly got out of bed, placing the blanket back over your sleeping form, brushing your hair away from your face with a gentle touch. You stirred slightly but didn’t wake up.
Taehyung was gone before your alarm went off.
32 hours to go.
---
“Sleep well last night?” Taehyung asked, startling you. You hadn’t seen him all day as you got ready with the other bridesmaids and the bride. You looked him over, handsome as ever in his black tux, annoyingly perfect. You noticed his bowtie was slightly crooked, tsking at him as you placed your bouquet down to fix it for him.
“I slept fine, thank you,” you said politely, fixing his tie, hands patting his chest when you were satisfied with your handiwork. You tried to pull away, but Taehyung’s right hand reached up to grab yours before you could. He leaned down kissing the back of your hand delicately. You looked at him, shocked.
“You look beautiful, Y/N,” he complimented you, standing up. You gaped at him, slightly flushed by the genuine compliment.
“Shall we?” he asked, handing you your bouquet and holding out his arm for you to take for the processional down the aisle.
“I-uh-yes,” you cleared your throat, “Yes, let’s go,” you said, swallowing thickly.
You blamed the butterflies in your stomach on nerves.
You hoped the fact that Taehyung kept stealing glances at you during the ceremony was because you had too much blush on or something.
You ignored the fact that he looked at you like you hung the stars in the sky.
You pretended that you didn’t like it.
26 hours to go.
---
Taehyung ran after you outside of the venue, eyes frantic with worry.
“There you are, Y/N, I have been looking everywhere for you! What the hell are you doing out here?” Taehyung asked, shrugging out of his suit jacket so he could drape it around your shoulders.
You took a deep breath.
“I just needed some air,” you explained, staring down at the ground.
Lies.
You needed to get away from him. Away from his gaze. Away from his hands that felt so right in yours as you slow danced together at the insistence of the newly married couple. Away from how confused you felt at this person that you loathed. You did loath him, right? Despite the fact that he made you laugh, never let you walk home by yourself at night when the four of you would go out to the bars, remembered your favorite foods, always smelled so good…you loathed him…didn’t you?
“It’s freezing out here, come back inside,” Taehyung insisted, holding out his hand for you to take, to help you up from the cold metal bench and lead you back inside.
“Don’t you have a bridesmaid to flirt with? Why are you out here looking for me?” You questioned, standing up on your own. Taehyung dropped his hand, clenching it in a fist at his side. “Every wedding I have ever been to that you’ve attended has ended with you flirting with one of the bride’s friends. Shouldn’t you be doing that instead of standing out here with me?”
Taehyung grimaced at your tone.
“That’s not fair.”
“Isn’t it, though? Don’t you think I’ve noticed how every time we all go out together, you end up going home with some girl?”
“Stop it.”
“What? I’m telling the truth,” you scoffed, kicking at a pebble on the ground with your heeled shoe. You refused to look at him. “I’m just wondering who you would be taking back to your room if you weren’t sharing it with me.”
“I don’t want to be with anyone else!” Taehyung suddenly exclaimed. You looked up at him, watching as he ran a hand through his hair in agitation. He stepped toward you. You wanted to step away, but you stubbornly stood your ground. Taehyung looked down at you, sighing in frustration. “Don’t you get it?”
“Get what, Tae?” The nickname slipped past your lips before you could stop it. His eyes widened slightly, pupils blown out with frustration and something you couldn’t name. He looked away for a second, breathing deeply before turning back to you. He placed his hands on your cheeks, looking at you like he had all throughout the ceremony.
“I don’t want to go back to my room with anyone but you, sweetheart,” Taehyung said, thumbs stroking the flushed skin of your face, the annoying pet name that he always used with you suddenly sounding much sweeter than it had before. “I haven’t in a long time.”
“Oh,” you breathed out, shocked at the turn of events. “Oh.”
“This isn’t exactly how I intended to tell you,” Taehyung said, smiling shyly at you. “But will you please come back inside so I can keep flirting with you until you realize, deep down, that you feel the same?”
You rolled your eyes at his presumptuousness, but there was no real fire behind it.
“Please, like your flirting has ever worked on me,” you countered, smirking at him. Tae smiled, leaning forward to press a kiss to your cheek, catching you off guard.
“No? Is that why you’re blushing?” he teased.
“Shut up,” you grumbled, letting him take your hand in his and lead you back inside.
“Make me,” he winked at you.
24 hours to go…until your first official date, at least.

Hope you don't mind my asking but do you mind elaborating on why you don't like Mongie too much? I know all about why everyone dislikes Let's Play itself. There are various videos and post upon post online tearing it to shreds with criticism but I've not heard much about the creator herself like I do Rachel Smythe. Does she also run into the same issues that Rachel does or is her behavior different but equally questionable/annoying?
It's kinda equally questionable, kinda different. They both have the same issues of like, fetishizing youthfulness and creating unhealthy power dynamics. They also haven't done a great job at depicting POC in their comics, you can tell they're written by white women who don't understand other cultures but are trying to make their series more "progressive" by including stand-ins for representation.
That said, considering Let's Play is set in a real world setting, the POC characters (and the casually racist issues in their writing) are a lot more obvious than in LO (where you have to know the context that the neon-colored nymphs are based on POC to really realize that they're lower class POC people who are getting the shit end of the stick from the rich upper class main protagonists).
And I don't even mean in the usual "there aren't any POC in this comic" or "the POC in this comic are stereotypical/poorly written", I mean in the sort of white-victim-complex "I added in other ethnicities and people got mad at me anyways so what more do you want!" kind of way (paired with the "they're poorly written and stereotypical" aspect).
Dean is a good example of the stereotypical designing and writing, IIRC he's a Hispanic man but he's written like some Spanish soap opera character who flirts with every woman he sees and always has rose petals falling around him.
Tumblr media
Even in that sentence he says "part Asian" which is weird because he's looking for Marshall who's supposed to be his best friend and it's been established in the comic that Marshall is half-Japanese, but that brings us to the other instance of mongie being casually (if not directly) racist and even more so than with Dean...
Tumblr media
Apparently mongie thought it was a good move to say that it was "more inclusive" to make Vikki only vaguely Asian. Which is just... so not true LOL Asia is an entire continent made up of MANY different cultures and ethnicities and so generalizing all of them to just "Asian" is not a great take from someone who's trying to seem "more inclusive".
But of course, when her community called her out on this and asked her to elaborate, she and her mod team basically dug their heels in and made up excuses that made mongie out to be a victim instead of just acknowledging she made an error that didn't connect well with members of her audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And theeen in comes mongie ready to torch the place. Note that up until this point, it's basically been her mod team speaking up on her behalf and giving her benefit of the doubt, so when mongie DID get her chance to speak, she jumped right to:
Tumblr media
"FINE, SHE'S HALF CHINESE HALF KOREAN THEN, STFU AND STOP ANALYZING ME WHEN I INCLUDE CHARACTERS FROM RACES THAT DON'T ALIGN WITH MY OWN !!!" (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ is very much the vibe people got from this, understandably so. It's also odd (and extremely privileged) for her to say that she'd "rather focus on a character's personality and not their race" because it's very "I don't see color" which has been proven to be counterintuitive to understanding and celebrating different races.
And then we get a lot of self-victimizing "well I can't win no matter what so you people are ungrateful and actually it's MY feelings that are hurt" excuses:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again it's weird because she had NO problem specifying that Marshall was half-Japanese and she didn't make him into any sort of weird stereotype like she did with Vikki. So I don't know why she's having such a hard time grasping that being vaguely Asian for Vikki isn't inclusive.
Although, let's be real here, the only reason Marshall is half-Japanese at all is because he's a self-insert of Markiplier, a half-Korean Youtuber who mongie apparently worked for on payroll as a graphic designer prior to Let's Play. Which is just a whole layer of ick that I think surpasses even Rachel Smythe and Mads Mikkelson. Like the Rachel and Mads thing is definitely creepy and weird because she's literally drawn herself - an adult woman nearing her 40's - being swept off her feet by a smoochy-faced Mads. But at least she didn't work for the guy or ever interact with him directly like mongie did with Markiplier. That's a whole separate level of "ew".
That said, mongie continues:
Tumblr media
Which is just such a half-assed non-apology. Not "I'm sorry for misrepresenting a culture" or "I'm sorry I didn't do proper research", but "I'm sorry people think I'm being insensitive or that they need specific representation in my work that I'm claiming to be representation to be good". Completely shifting the blame from herself onto her audience for not being happy with the bare minimum that she gave them.
There's more though. Probably one of the worst parts and it's not even her, but one of her mods:
Tumblr media
The fact that this is one of mongie's mods telling mongie's audience that her feelings - as a white woman who's just legitimately patronized her audience - are more valid than the people whose feelings were hurt by mongie being so insensitive... it's a real gross move and I can't believe they even pulled that.
Oh, and of course, as people like this tend to do, she goes on about "cancel culture" and how "terrifying" it is to her and then comes up with some imaginary scenario where a kid pays a hitman to kill her ?? as a defense for herself that really just further victimizes herself over her own misled actions ??
Tumblr media
And this is something mongie does a lot, at least in this instance - she comes up with justifications for her decisions based on completely imaginary scenarios that she came up with and assumed, rather than just, idk, doing her research and being open to learning new things about cultures she's clearly not educated on. Shit like "well if I do xyz you'll be mad at me anyways so fuck you!"
When in reality? No one would have been mad at her if she didn't have any non-white characters in her comic. Would readers be disappointed? Probably. But - and I can't speak for everybody out there obviously so this is just my opinion - I know I'd much rather representation from someone who wanted to represent my respective groups and identities and put love and effort into it, than get it from someone who was just doing it because they made up a scenario in their head that they would be cancelled for not doing it. No one really has any tangible ground to stand on if they get mad at you for writing a cast of all-white characters you wanted to write, there are plenty of webtoons like that on the platform. We do need more stories that uplift and represent POC voices, but it shouldn't be from white victim complex people who only do it to virtue signal and ensure they don't get "cancelled". You know what WILL get you cancelled? Attempting to write other ethnicities and racial groups purely based on stereotypes for the sake of "representation" and then getting mad when people ask you to be a little more specific than "Asian".
Oh yeah, and then have your mods censor/delete any mentioning of educational resources regarding Asian cultures, and then essentially dox one of your community members by revealing their Twitter to the entire Discord group to boot!

anyway my thoughts on Barbie snubbery discourse are all over the place because obviously there is indeed an irony to Ken being nominated and not Barbie, mimicking the exact trajectory of the film. And it is kind of sad to think about that and it does suck because I think Margot was amazing as Barbie, and I would have loved to have seen her nominated for that!
But also. If we’re looking at it realistically, it all depends on the pools for each category. Margot and Ryan are in separate categories, so you cannot really compare their nominations because they were never competing against one another, but their respective peers from other movies. I’m not super familiar with the Oscars or with films generally, but from what I’ve heard the best actress category this year is particularly stacked, so the competition for Margot was really hard. At the end of the day, there’s only 5 slots! If Margot was in, another one of the nominated actresses would have to be out. It’s just that Barbie is the bigger movie so it’s getting all the attention.
Also a lot of the extended arguments about it diminish the own original argument’s point. I’ve literally seen people saying Margot was snubbed because of misogyny and then in their next tweet going on a rant about how Margot deserved it way more than America and it’s wild that Barbie got noms in xyz categories but not best actress. Like, if you’re putting down America to hype up Margot in the name of feminism…let’s unpack that for literally half a second, i mean? they aren’t even in the same damn category!!! ~~ “Why was “I’m just Ken” nominated for best song and not Margot!!!” ~~ Well now how it that remotely relevant?? what the heck are you even talking about?? 😭 if you dislike that the song was nominated you should be comparing it to other songs you wish had gotten nominated instead, not randomly bringing it up in a conversation about best actress.
But on the other hand, people saying “well no, Margot didn’t actually deserve a nomination as much as the 5 selected actresses” (which in itself is a totally fine and fair opinion) are by and large just pretentious film twitter commentators who can’t resist but to go on to remind us all that they think Barbie was a shit movie, and generally act like Margot is less talented because she starred in a comedy, and therefore her acting was “less serious” than their artsy indie favs. Which is also deeply annoying and emblematic of how the Oscars and film buffs view certain genre movies like comedies in general.
Which is all to say, I generally think there are far greater threats to feminism than the Barbie movie not getting a best actress and best director nomination, lol. But it’s cool that it’s bringing awareness to the Oscars long-standing problem of bypassing women in favor of men (especially in categories like best director) which is something we should talk about! Greta’s snub is perhaps no different than any other director snub in any other year, but the pattern of female directors continually being snubbed is a problem worth unpacking! I just wish people would stop talking about it only in soundbites and delve into that deeper systematic issue with arguments that actually make sense.

I couldn't resist 💀. Remember this ask?
Yeah I twisted the story and here we are..
Tumblr media
Meet Callisto Luther! (AI name = Nox Luther)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vishenka (cherry) and I were having conversation and I got idea omg
So basically, Hope and Dream had a fight which cause their magics to combine and created Callisto. Hope lost all of their magics because if a witch gave birth or create a living being, their magics will be transferred to the child.
Hope is powerless and Dream feels overwhelmed so he couldn't take care of Callisto (What a pain in the ass!)
Hope take care of Callisto then Lux because the original had to stick around lmao.
He hates Killermare family and he hates Dream and his family too (expect for Lux, he cares deeply for his little sister <3) (Even so he respects women-)
His opinion on people
Dream
"A massive headache. I am ashamed I was born from a fight... What a pain.. I really hate him. I don't care that he neglected me but what pisses me off that he dare to abandoned my little sister and mom all by their own! I don't curse because Mom really dislike it..."
Hope
"Mom is doing better. I really wished that I never inherited Mom's power... Mom is was so weak that she couldn't even eat.."
Lux
"my adorable little sister!!! I really adore her, she is my light of this horrible world. She support me to take the throne and I will! I'll make sure to give her everything once the throne is mine."
Palette
"Even if he is my brother... I will never see him as one... Arrogant little brat, he dare to bully my little sister and tell everyone that she is crazy because of a revengeful spirit? That's stupid-"
Drop
"I heard the little girl is locked in the castle for years now. I never see her appearance and I don't think anyone do. Dream kept her away from world... What a pain.."
Ink
"I don't care if she is kind or pretty. She is depressing- I don't like the fact she cope with depression. Drinking... That's just terrible. She needs help, a therapy will be good."
Alphonse (Corrupted Nightmare)
"I am holding myself from cursing... I hate him. That's the final."
Crescent
"I can't believe Dream is this stupid. Taking a child of an enemy as priest? This kingdom chances of getting attacked are very high.."
Angst (If he were alive)
"The crown prince of darkness kingdom... I don't know much about him. Rumours say he isolated himself from the world and waiting for death to take him."
Merciless
"I never interact with him. Sometimes I saw him walking next to Palette, sometimes he sat alone and sometimes... He feels so empty. He don't resemble the darkness king at all so I don't think I should hate him. Beside he is gives a really calming vibe."
Goth
"Oh lady Goth! Lux really adore her best friend. I'm glad Lux has someone to rely on. Lady Goth is genuinely kind to Lux. Even if she is close to Palette, she still treat Lux nicely and never believe in any of Palette's lies."
Bonus
Artemis belong to @itzcherrybonbon /@abloomingsunflower
"The precious daughter of the king I despise. Ugh... Well she is kind of pretty, I give her that. Mom said not to hate on her since I don't know anything about her.. Well she told me not to hate on anyone but I did it anyway. As long she don't interfere in my way on taking the throne, I'll be nice to her..."
Vivi belong to @canon-vi
"Oh my other little sister? Well she is adorable! Lux really adore Vivi so much and I am the same. Though, we don't spend much time together because she is a princess and has her own duty."
Kira belong to @canon-vi
"I will never understand why Dream took another child of an enemy to be a priestess... At least she is kind and look nothing like Alphonse. I am not that religious so I don't visit the church that often."

Readers, I am on the verge of giving up on the romance genre. I need people to recommend books that I won't hate.
Please, I'm dying. I just wanna read cute stories about love without a bunch of regressive gender stereotypes or just straight-up abuse. Is that really so much to ask??? Anyway I'm gonna list things I love and hate about the genre and perhaps some of you kind people could make some suggestions based on that?
Romances I've liked: Emily Henry's Happy Place (I actually cried at this one!); Talia Hibbert's Get a Life, Chloe Brown; Evie Dunmore's A League of Extraordinary Women series; Alexis Hall's Boyfriend Material; Casey MacQuiston's Red White and Royal Blue (although the politics in this one really turned me off the first time I read it); Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries series (a classic); Sangu Mandanna's The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (I love a romance that has a lovable cast of supporting characters and some other elements going on beyond the love story!); Jen Wang's The Prince & the Dressmaker
Stuff I hate in romance: Most enemies to lovers (cause the most recent wave of this trope is primarily men abusing women in some way, but if you've got a suggestion that isn't that, please tell me), when Being Tall is treated as a entire personality for men, generally men being So Large and women being So Smol cause it almost always leans into weird gender shit that makes me uncomfortable, super innocent virginal girls who are almost childlike being "corrupted" by mean fuckboys, the entire dark romance genre (are you seeing the trend about things I hate... lol), Instalove (Chanel Cleeton's Next Year in Havana was SO guilty of this)
Romances I disliked/DNF'd: Abby Jimenez's Part of Your World (the female lead was insufferable!); Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Date (some of the character work was interesting but I just got bored with the story tbh); Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan's The Royal We (just SO boring but that's what I get for reading Will & Kate fanfiction); anything that started as R*ylo fic cause they, and Twilight before them, are basically the blueprint for what I find fundamentally un-romantic about a lot of romance (I might be willing to give something by Ali H*zlewood a try, as a few Booktubers I trust have said her writing has gotten better with each new book she's published BUT the word steminist is the most cringe thing I've ever heard so maybe not)
Romances that sound interesting but I've been burned so much I just don't know: Helen Hoang's the Kiss Quotient; Beth O'Leary's The Flatshare; Lyssa Kay Adams' The Bromance Book Club; Olivia Waite's The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics, India Holton's Dangerous Damsels series, Nisha Sharma's Dating Dr. Dil
Heeeelp.

how does anyone say this guy isn't gay look at that FACE
I KNOW YOU sent this as a joke but HONESTLY some of the DEEP DENIAL I have seen in *coughing* some communities regarding him and the other characters is TRULY astonishing. It ends up being so pathetic and rooted so deep in homophobia, biphobia etc that it just cycles back to being pathetic and kinda sad.
I'm not intending to turn this into a rant, but to me-and to pretty much any queer MGS fan (or LGBTQAI if you dislike queer) it's....obvious. He doesn't fool (us) for a hot second. It's not even a debate. Yet to deeply toxic dudebro *and other toxic het communities, or just the same 'uber masculine' gaming communities that haven't left the mindset of the 90's yet that used to print naked women in magazines just to appeal to them (Link to a video from Caddicarus here that goes pretty good into how atrocious some of this shit got in regards to magazines) he's gotta be ANYTHING but gay.
I genuinely didn't think it was still going to be an issue-but I have seen it still up for debate as early as 2022 and people so desperate they will argue against Vamp being bi even tho Snake LITERALLY SAYS SO in the text. But Snake could've just 'been joking with Raiden'.
We've all seen the posts, we've all seen the stuff, and while it's largely so pathetic it's not worth dwelling over except for amusement-it's kinda sad too.
NO, we never just plain old get "Ocelot is gay" In text but I wanna explain something else too.
I'm *for tumblr anyway* an old man. I'll be 32 years old at my birthday this year. When I was in HS, meterosexual was still a thing. "Gay" was the biggest insult you could be called. A friend had to TELL ME I was bi because I HAD NEVER heard the term.
Gay marriage was legalized in Canada when I was 14-the same year Brokeback Mountain came out. I remember watching the first legally married gay couple on tv and my uncle gagging. When I was much younger, and a teenager, the 'gay character' wasn't called 'gay'.
Instead, they didn't like the opposite sex. Instead, random jokes were made about them being 'abnormal' or 'eternally single'. Instead, incredibly subtle nods were put in to make references to things you would generally only understand as 'this character is gay' if you were an adult with at least SOME exposure to it.
Ocelot, is *in my opinion* absolutely written that way. If you go through the series, there are as many 'hints' and 'nods' and little references that all point in that direction. Is it a cop out? Depends on how you look at it (keep in mind gay marriage still isn't legalized in Japan) I'm not here to discuss another culture though that I'm not a part of-I'm a white Canadian man; I have no say on what is or isn't appropriate for Japan. But I DO remember how homophobic the world used to be-and at times can still be.
The dude bro's making arguments against Ocelot being gay-denying it so hard they turn blue, are usually guys my age or older. I am NOT excusing them-we've got the internet now, 'gay' stopped being an insult a decade ago, it's time to grow up. But I do know how gay characters were written at the time-Ocelot's a perfect example.
Sure, Vamp is stated to be bisexual in 2001. THAT WAS NOT THE NORM AT ALL. And Volgin being Raikov's lover was made obvious in those textual clues-but still only ever stated outright in the original MGS4 Encyclopedia.
I wish these dudes would open their minds a bit (I'm also generalizing a bit, it's not just men in denial). But at the end of the day, it will never not be interesting to me how obvious Ocelot is to us, but not to them.
(THIS GOT OUTTA HAND SORRY-)

rlly thinking abt rivals to enemies to lovers w al haitham. you went to school together, and there wasn’t a clear winner between the two of you. you’d often switch getting first and second with him.
but what made him act like an egotistical fucking asshole, is that the akademiya made him the valedictorian of your year. i also hc that they hate women, but we’re not gonna get into that LMAO. anyway, that’s when you really start to hate him.
so, you guys get into the same field of work. often times than none, and somehow, you always get work done when bickering. they always pair the two of you because of that, and he literally takes every single opportunity to shame you, slide a sly remark, or say the absolute most horrendous, fucked up shit to you. it gets to the point where you’re constantly convincing yourself not to stick a knife in that mf’s throat. like he will not shut up.
another reason you absolutely despise him, is that he doesn’t give a shit about anyone. nothing will get in the way of his studies and his thirst for knowledge. everyone else is collateral damage.
you’re out on a mission one day, and somehow you guys ended up trapped somewhere. you get attacked and surprise, you guys actually make a rlly hot duo (wbk). so now, you’ve taken down like ten, twenty, enemies without breaking a sweat. you let your guard down. you see where this is going…
there’s an arrow that’s launched directly at alhaitham, and for some reason, your body decided to move and take the shot. you really have no idea why exactly, but it’s too late. he’s kinda shocked for a second, before literally throwing you over his shoulder, and running out of there. bro is speeding out.
you’re kinda hitting him and telling him to put you tf down. you are literally threatening this man. talking about “if you don’t put me down, i will slice your throat and cut your balls off,” while bleeding out LMAO.
so, he finds a safe spot to rest, cus mind you, you are stuck. he rolls his eyes. no nvm, that’s kinda ooc. he kinda like grimaces and looks away.
“you’re welcome.” DID HE JUST SAY YOU’RE WELCOME? and you’re sitting there baffled like BE FOR REAL.
“you’re welcome? i took that hit for you, dumbass.” and he stays quiet. cus his goofy ass knows you’re right.
this is the part where he gets irritated. “i understand why you dislike me. i’d get frustrated if you were better,” he says.
“i don’t know where you heard i dislike you. i don’t. i fucking hate you. and it’s not because you’re better, think whatever you want grandpa looking ass. it’s because you’re such a piece of shit.” and by the end of your rant, he’s staring at you with furrowed brows.
“grandpa? care to elaborate?”
“THAT’S THE PART YOU HEARD?”
“well, i heard the rest of it, but i don’t care enough to respond on it.” now you’re fuming. smoke coming out of your nose and ears.
“listen here you little shit. look at your grey hair, trying to be old so bad.” you cross your arms against your chest. by this point, you’ve both forgotten that you did indeed get injured, but you hissed at the pain, and you guys kinda reset yourselves (mentally).
“how about we continue this conversation once we’ve found an exit,” he suggests.
“that’s the first brilliant idea that’s come out of your mouth today.” he ignores that btw.
skip to the part where you get out. he asks you why you hate him. you list him like ten different reasons. he self reflects, feels really guilty. then the romantic shit happens, but who actually likes the romantic part over the enemies/rivals part.
btw the arrow was shot by childe. and this got wayyyy too long.

Thoughts On The Depp vs Heard Case From A Survivor
So, to give a little backstory and apologies in advance for the essay, I am a survivor of SA and abuse. Now, I was never in a relationship and abused; my story is much different. I will briefly mention p*dophila, so if that might trigger you, I’d stop reading after this paragraph.
I was sexually abused from the ages of about 7-10. I was abused by a family member who was also emotionally and verbally abusive and one who had many issues with alcoholism. He never hit me, though he was physically abusive to my brother. I grew up afraid of my own shadow, and I have a large chunk of my life and childhood erased. I was diagnosed with PTSD sometime last year when memories of the events reappeared in full force. I have zero proof, and I am far past the statute of limitations. I can’t give them any actual details, and I can’t talk or think about it for very long without dissociating or relieving that awful time. There is no way to receive justice, and I’ve come to peace with that. It’s shitty, but that’s life. I think a big part of me would be too afraid to anyway. I’ve never been able to have a relationship, and I have trust issues and walls so thick a wrecking ball couldn’t even tap them.
To address Elaine’s frankly despicable interview, many survivors support Johnny. I can’t explain it to anyone, but we recognise our own. There’s something in the way we talk about the event(s); it’s harrowing. It sits on your shoulders and recounting it feels like choking. So many of us cut ourselves off from the event(s) and try desperately to distract others by making jokes to draw attention away from the conversation. You could see that with Johnny, not with Amber. The way Amber behaved caused the jury to rule against her; she showed her true self on that stand. She was aggressive, recalled “everything” with crystal clear clarity, and got caught in lies multiple times. A biased judge also oversaw the UK case that she kept referring towards; (quick correction here because I was given the wrong information) his son was an editor for The Sun, so he wouldn’t rule against them, let’s be honest. The judge should’ve recused himself, but chose not to. The same man who owns The Sun also has claims in The New York Post and Vogue, two companies vocally against Johnny. Wonder why…
I strongly dislike how Amber Heard painted herself as a martyr; she does not represent us. We have overcome so much, and to have a liar spit in our face by appropriating our daily struggles is so beyond wrong. To claim the verdict is the jury saying, “Oh, we don’t believe you if you don’t have evidence”, is highly inappropriate for a lawyer, especially one “chasing her fifteen minutes of fame”, as she likes to say. Also, accusing the jury, that was holed up in a hotel room with no phone or internet access, of bias is bloody ridiculous.
She continues with this whole, “Oh, it’s a step back for women”, but it’s not. It’s a step forward for male victims, men are finally feeling comfortable enough to speak out, and that’s beautiful. We know women have been used and abused since the beginning of time, but we never talk about men. Men aren’t just abused by their Boy Scout leaders, priest, or boyfriends. They are also abused by women, a fact they are told to be silent about. I remember explaining to my fifteen-year-old employee that his first sexual experience being with his friend’s mother was not ok. He couldn’t get my point, even when I showed him how the role reversal would seem. It had been trained into him by toxic culture and media that women could not be predatory, women couldn’t be abusive. Any sane person will know that’s false.
I’ve connected with many male survivors during this case, a topic I’ve been passionate about since my youth. My abuser was abused; it’s an unfortunate cycle. Men are not given coping tools, just told to “be a man about it”, especially by women who believe men can’t be abused. Yes, I was as shocked as you might be that there are women mad enough to think that only one gender can be abused. They defend Amber purely in the name of “feminism”, which is entirely fake. I can only hope this case lets men know they aren’t alone; they can be heard. Women can’t be allowed to get away with abuse purely based on gender. We also need to stop believing every word that comes out of people’s mouths without any questions. People can’t just accuse others of heinous crimes, especially public figures if they can’t be honest about what happened.
If you’ve made it to the end here, I commend you; I’m very well known for my speeches- blame debate class 😅. All in all, survivors are pissed significantly because so many believed Amber. Those who didn’t were told that they were just in love with Johnny, which is just plainly untrue. Every Amber stan reflects their idol; aggressive behaviour, insults, demeaning survivors, and calling us liars. It’s tiring, it’s upsetting, and we can’t escape from it. I mean, it’s everywhere; there isn’t anywhere this topic hasn’t touched. I’m constantly hit by flashbacks from trauma that keep getting dredged up, and being open about it gets more complicated when civil conversations turn into personal attacks. Elaine and her team were incredibly unprepared and were extremely unprofessional. Johnny scored a rockstar roster and deserved every inch of his win. The message that needs to get across is that no matter what gender, race, or sexuality you are, you aren’t alone. There are millions of us worldwide that are proud of you. Proud of you for pushing through, being brave enough to tell your story, and for being strong enough to fight for the truth. We are not alone, we are a strong community, and we need to support those who go unheard. Victims come in all shapes and sizes, with different coping mechanisms and different personalities. Of course, there's no “perfect victim”, but Amber Heard has proved herself to be nothing but a narcissistic abuser who thought Johnny would never speak up. He has, and we have heard him. None of us should live unheard; no human being should be shunned for speaking their truth.

KinnPorsche Rewatch 2023
Reminder: as we go into heavier topics in KP (dub-con/non-con, toxic behaviors, etc.), I will not be doing deep dives. I’m planning on taking this just below surface value as these are literally thoughts I have in the moment as I’m watching. Thank you.
Episode 8 Random Thoughts
I like that this episode opens and KP have spent the night together. It just shows a little bit of relationship growth.
Gotta scramble, P. Get those clothes on.
"My legs are still shaking." Jesus.
✨Bread✨ I was yelling at my tv the first time I watched this scene lmao.
The scene where they're going through to the bedroom and they're just destroying everything is so good. And the window push, and the lick, good lord.
P said "I need to treat my man and show him that I'm cereal, help me goddess of Hum Bar."
But where did they put their fancier clothing??? Did they just leave it in that random café bathroom?
I enjoy how hard P is working to make their day memorable. Date days like that are so fun, especially at the beginning of a relationship. And they are worth so much more the longer you're together.
The day was perfect though, P. K is happy, you should be too.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING HIM A PHONE, FUCK.
Creepy Tawan is creepy.
Also, I dislike Tawan so much. But like, I also understand why he is the way he is?
Because they definitely wouldn't have heard the water splash lmao. But the underwater kiss is so good.
That fucking drawing. I lose it every time.
Calling Kinn slutty and promiscuous like you weren't fucking women in the back of a bar Porsche??
Oh Pete. So innocent. Those are hickeys, my man. KP be fucking.
Hmm. I never noticed that Kim and Chay end up standing on what is essentially a chessboard? (I'm watching on my computer instead of my tv right now so things are a bit closer)
Once again, Kim gives in to Chay and listens to his song. He really is trying his damnedest to not give in to the feelings but can't help the little looks he gives Chay. Ugh. Just give in to the love, man. Dumbass.
Then the look at the end like, fuck I'm screwed. This boy is getting to me.
There's basically nothing in that fridge but water and 4 eggs.
I love how Tankhun kicks Porsche out his own damn self rather than having Pete, Arm, or Pol do it.
Idk, if my TV came on randomly and the light started flickering like that after watching a horror movie/show, I'd probably freak out too.
I don't get why Kinn doesn't just tell Porsche the whole truth (I mean, yeah, plot device, but fuuuuuck). Like, for fuck's sake, just tell him Tawan is still alive. Get it out in the open rather than keeping it secret. You're supposed to love and trust each other, right? Damn.
See. Things ended up coming out anyway. jUST TELL PORSCHE THE TRUTH, GOT DAMN.
Tumblr media
I always need more KimChay but I shall never get it :') Anyway, Episode 9 next!

The Little Mermaid 2 and 3 (bring it on!)
The Little Mermaid 2 and 3:
my all-time ultimate fave character: we all know it's ariel lbr but...again not to be too predictable, andrina! she's SO much funny in every incarnation i read of her and she's the only character that seems to make it with a semblance of character integrity (even more so than ariel who does NOT fare well with these sequels)
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: king triton maybe? i still think he has abusive tendencies and certain things frustrate me about him to no end but i think he's realistic and there's a weight to him that's intriguing to me
a character I used to like but now don’t: queen athena. i thought she was pretty as a kid and i liked her whole voice/singing to the kids plot thing but i just think she's so uninspired and lazy and her voice isn't even that good, her design is blah, and i don't think ariel's mom is that lady lol sorry
a character I’m indifferent about: hm. benjamin??? i guess it's fine that they kinda gay-coded him and it's some representation but he's marina's sidekick, and marina is the ultimate ick, and idk he's just so bland anyway that it's hard to feel anything for him outside of what he is
a character who deserved better: andrina! she deserved WAY more lines and screentime. i wish they got the original andrina back but tara did her best, i guess
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: carlotta and grimsby. like i get they're both side characters that are a man and a woman but obligatory hetero ships that have no chemistry aren't my thing (this is directed at the fandom, the movie doesn't really put them together)
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: i think aquata and that boy they put her with in the third movie are cute i guess? again i'm actively trying not to say ariel/eric
a cute, low-key ship: um. melody and that blonde boy??? i guess
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: ??? there aren't really any other ships in these movies, they honestly don't offer much
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: melody and that guy she danced with in the beginning of the second movie, but that was the point so
my favourite storyline/moment: hm...uh. um. uhhh OH WAIT i do love ariel singing in that hazy room in the beginning of the second movie. the animation is like rugrats level bad BUT jodi's singing carries it
a storyline that never should have been written: THE THIRD MOVIE. i will go to my grave standing by the fact that i think the banishment of music is the DUMBEST plot i've ever heard of/seen in all of hollywood and the fact that disney is SUCH a difficult company to break into and it's so competitive and it's supposed to hold the highest standards for its craft and THAT plot wasn't ridiculed in its initial pitch in the writer's room and how that plot not only contradicts THE FIRST SCENE we see of ariel missing the concert in her original movie but doesn't even make any sense, given that she gives her voice up to be human so clearly she doesn't care about music THAT much is baffling like the minimum wage character performers in the parks get better training on integrity than the writers from that movie
my first thoughts on the show: i honestly never cared about either movie but i think i disliked the third movie less when i first saw it because tlm2 made melody the main character and that really irritated me as a child because i didn't want to see her and her walrus and penguin, i wanted more ariel who was delegated as a side character bc i guess older women or moms just aren't interesting/worthy of being main characters???
my thoughts now: for as much as i personally dislike the second movie, i'm still glad we have it because i think some of jodi benson's singing is superior to any of her other recordings and i'm genuinely astounded by her talent in some songs. the third movie though is painful and i hate it and it makes me resent disney lol

The Most Dangerous Game
I
Momo woke up earlier than usual. She did her morning routine, put on her neatly ironed lieutenant uniform and armband, and went to the 5th squad dormitory to see if Marika was up. She saw her sitting on the bench in her usual uniform that consisted of a mini-skirt and a turtleneck with no sleeves, reading.
- Heyy! - Momo waved with a big smile.
Marika lifted her head and waved back. She closed the book - Hello, my dear!
- Oh! You look tired. Did you get enough sleep?
- It’s nothing - Marika brushed it off with her hand - I was very invested in this book so I forgot to go to bed yesterday; but I feel great! - she put on a wide smile, then got up, and started walking with Momo.
- Oh, dear… You should be more careful. What were you reading anyways?
Marika lifted and tilted the book cover towards Momo. It read “Ryünosuke Akutagawa - Rashōmon and other short stories” in fancy golden letters on a dark red background.
- The Captain recommended this one to me - Marika said.
- The Captain always recommends the best books! - Momo exclaimed a bit over excitedly. She blushed - It’s no wonder you couldn’t put it down.
- Yeah, it is true that he knows a lot about literature, however, it seems to me that his library consists mostly of domestic books. I wanted to give this to you - she said as she drew a book out of her sack. It was Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë - I think you will like it. Let it be our little secret - Marika winked.
- Momo’s eyes widened. She hastily covered the book in her robe. Clearly, it was a book from the human world, and from Marika’s act, Momo understood that it was not obtained through legal channels.
Two young women approached the 5th squad offices. Momo knocked on Captain Aizen’s chamber doors.
- Come in! - they heard him from the other side. Marika noticed Momo blushed as they entered.
Aizen sat at his desk with some papers and tea. He stood up and greeted them with a pleasant smile - Good morning, Lieutenant Hinamori, Officer Gato. Would you two lovely ladies have some tea?
- Good morning, captain. I’d like some black tea, thanks - Marika said.
Momo nodded in accord - I’d like some as well - she said. They settled side by side at the opposing end of the table and waited while Aizen poured hot water over leaves and decanted golden liquid into cups he offered them.
- So, what brings you two here today? - he asked.
Marika noticed Momo’s fidgeting nervously, so she took a lead - I wanted to return the book you lent me yesterday… - she put the book on the table.
- Was it to your liking? You returned it rather fast.
- Oh, it was. I couldn’t leave it until I finished once I started reading.
- I’m glad to hear that - he nodded and opened his mouth to say something but decided not to.
He thought it would be inconsiderate, rude, or even dangerous to suggest meeting with Marika to discuss the book later in front of Momo. He felt a slight annoyance because the presence and existence of Momo limited him in the ways he wanted to act. Instead, he put on a gentle smile and turned towards his lieutenant.
- Momo, today we have to go through the plan of training for the next month.
She nodded quickly, holding a cup near her face with both of her little hands. Aizen noticed that she hid something in her robe the moment she came in but now he was sure it was something she wants not to be unraveled based on the way she acted. He became interested in what it was.
Marika felt a bit of awkwardness in the air. She finished her cup of tea and stood up - Well, I’ll be leaving now. See you at the training site today - she bowed and approached the door.
Momo looked at her with horror because she was leaving her with the captain before she had a chance to hide the book.
Aizen followed Marika with his eyes. As she walked he could see the movement of the muscles of her legs and butt in a short tight skirt. He did not dislike the view. It made him feel kind of… warm. He took it as a sign of aesthetic appreciation for a well-built female form.
Marika turned at the door  - Captain, I may come back later today to borrow another book. Momo, we too should see each other later if you want.
Momo nodded again, nervous and red in her face.
*
Aizen and Momo were left alone in the captains' chambers. Now he felt completely in charge. He extended his arm and lifted Momo’s head with a finger under her chin, so she had no other choice but to look at him.
- Momo, - he looked her straight into the eyes - what do we have here, hm?
Momo, as if hypnotized by his gaze, took the book out of her robe and handed it to him. He glanced at the cover and smiled - I thought it must be who-knows-what! Do you think I would scorn you for something like this? Is that the image of me I project?
- N-no - Momo sounded unsure. Indeed, Captain Aizen was the last person to be angry because she came in possession of some unauthorized goods, and above all it was just a book and not something dangerous.
- But of course not! Out of curiosity, how did you come across it? - he supposed it was a certain someone, who had just left the office.
- O-oh, oh well, Marika gave it to me…
- Is that so - this was more of a statement than a question.
- B-but, I don’t want her to get in trouble, please captain! - Momo was finally able to think again, and became aware that what she said could get her friend in trouble.
- Don’t you worry, my dear Momo, I’d never do such a thing. And also, I won’t tell her that you told me she gave it to you; just make sure you two tell me when you do such mischiefs - Aizen felt strange satisfaction because it was Marika who gave Momo the book. In fact, he couldn’t think of anyone else who could have. He was content that he had made a correct prediction.
Momo brightened up - Thank you, captain! - she fidgeted with her fingers in her leap. Aizen smiled and patted her upper arm, leaving his hand to linger on her shoulder for a second or so.
- It is adorable to me how flustered you get over such minor things. Now, let’s go to the office and get some work done before lunch…
- Yes, captain! - Momo felt a wave of happiness and warmth go through her body listening to her captain’s reassuring words and feeling his hand on her.
*
Marika was on her way to her post for today thinking about how Captain Aizen scanned them with his gaze when they entered his chambers and the look on his face when he noticed Momo was hiding something.
"He might look all innocent and nice but I'm sure for a brief moment he had the look of a predator seeing a wound on his prey. It's very interesting".
She smirked, trying to contain her excitement in front of the mystery she wanted to unravel.
***
Here is the first chapter. Let me know if you liked it, if you're interested in reading more of this story, and what do you think of the OC/reader insert Marika Gato! I'm very interested to hear your opinions, dear readers!

HATED KPOP SONGS THAT I LOVE (BC IM BORED)
1. on the ground - rosé
Tumblr media
i get why some people don’t like it i’ve seen some fair arguments, such as the edm drop and the dance being on the floor but as for me…well i will be playing this every day for the rest of my life, at my graduation, wedding, birthday parties, my daughter’s birthday parties, etc. i also have a fat crush on rosé so yeah hehe💕
2. hot sauce - nct dream
Tumblr media
now listen…hot sauce is not the best song ever created BUT it is twerkable so like why do y’all hate it you can throw it back to the chorus and tbh that’s all you need from a song. anyway i also have a soft spot for the dreamies and will support anything they put out tbh. also haechan. like is that not a good enough reason to like a song???
3. lalisa - lisa
Tumblr media
it’s cute and simple. also she’s on a pole and i love women. the breakdown in the traditional thai clothing ATE DOWN!
4. loco - itzy
Tumblr media
i’m actually not sure why people hate this song. haven’t heard a single valid argument to date. i got it on first listen but i have learned that not everyone is an intellectual with impeccable taste like me. also the english version literally gave us “sos for this kitty” what more do y’all want??
5. gunshot - kard
Tumblr media
the vocals were there. the aesthetic was there. the visuals were there. the raps were there. the choreography was there. it was all RIGHT THERE and y’all decided to hate it. anyway stan kard!!
6. rbb- red velvet
Tumblr media
not sure why y’all are trying to tarnish red velvet’s (almost) flawless discography by saying this song is bad. y’all just don’t want to say the truth and the truth is that you don’t like their “red” concepts and only stan red velvet for songs like “psycho” and to that i say please leave we don’t want you here
7. wannabe - itzy
Tumblr media
midzys correct me if im wrong but is the message of this song not the same as dalla dalla? i have not heard a good argument for disliking this song and im starting to think y’all just hate to have something to do to pass the time. ryujin owned this era i will not be silenced!
8. power up - red velvet
Tumblr media
so i know this song came out after bad boy and to that i say they announced a summer comeback so why were y’all surprised when it was a typical “red” summer song? i got it on first listen because that’s all you can do is get it like this is who red velvet is what are y’all complaining about?
9. kick it - nct 127
Tumblr media
NOW DONT SHOOT! i am not the biggest fan of this song myself but i will defend the chorus until i die because once again it’s twerkable like what more could y’all want than a chorus that allows you to throw it back and what more do you expect from the neo boys? they’re the same ones that made whiplash.
10. after school - weeekly
Tumblr media
if you don’t like this song all i have to say to you is that you hate fun and it must be miserable for you. she’s such fun and cute song like why wouldn’t you want that??? after school antis don’t interact!

I know this isn't the discourse you usually talk about, but I'm curious on your opinion because you word your thoughts really well (if there are other discourse blogs better fit to answer feel free to @ them.
Anyway, so I'm a lesbian, and have had a lot of experiences with feeling alienated by bisexual women, most of the reason being because a majority of them have a preference for men (I heard somewhere like 80% but could not find sources) which leads them to straight up avoiding dating women or being too scared to. I understand bisexual women get a lot of shit, but it's really hard not to feel alienated by them unless they are comfortable in their sexuality or have a preference for other women. It makes me feel so tired because they seem to often not even try to be open to dating women while still claiming the bi label. It makes me feel like shit to think like this because I know they are just as lgbt as I am but it feels like they are not. Like... am I valid in feeling this way?
Quick answer: you can't help the way you feel and it's ok to feel it. It's not about if your feelings are valid, its about how you treat people after.
Long answer: it's a positive feedback loop unfortunately. And it goes with a lot of types of interactions. When you have multiple bad experiences with a specific group of people it's really hard not to start growing negative opinions of said group overall. And the more bad experiences the more negative opinions. Humans naturally will be more cautious when they have bad experiences, and the group your cautious of will often pick up on that.
Basically, you have several bad experiences with bi women, and become more cautious. A new bi women you've started interacting with has picked up on that even if you're still nice. And now she's cautious and probably won't be too interested in you. You're more likely to assume (and maybe she actually does) that she'll go be with a man. Thus reinforcing your negative opinion.
^^^ this is normal. We naturally do things like this with every type of person we interact with. I naturally get more nervous around male doctors despite only ever having one or two bad experiences with a male doctor. Many people who get food poisoning will start to dislike the food that got them sick even though it won't get them sick again, it was a one time thing. Once you've made an association like that it's really hard to break.
And I think the fact that you're aware your association isn't the best is a really important thing. I want to start by saying you're not a bad person. Unfortunately, I don't have much advice on getting past that association. The next step would be to separate a trend from the group as a whole. You see a trend of bi women not actually seeming to be into women. But a trend does not define an entire group. Especially not one that is found within ones personal circle of influence (personal experiences are the strongest ways we for opinions. It's really hard to accept things that contradict it. That's ok).
I think a good step would be to focus on your actions. Maybe step away from dating if you need to. Make it clear to anyone that you're interested in that you're serious, and if they aren't serious back then you should end it there. Maybe befriend some of these women with dating off the table. I find being friends is the fastest way to help negative associations. Maybe talk with a therapist who specializes in LGBT stuff. Or maybe another lesbian who's in a relationship with a bi women. It's hard to open up, but it's the only way to grow.
I hope something above helped and either way, I wish you luck 🤞🤞🤞.

mr s i have a tmi question: since u hve experiences with casual sex, i was wondering how one... eases another person into it? as an awkward ace person ive certainly had opportunities to get into it but ive just refused bc im not rly into it, yknow? so my actual question is if u had any advice on how to initiate w ppl u know irl without sounding too forward? (i guess? u can tell i have no idea how any of this works lol lack of attraction is difficult to navigate)
That's a good question. I don't think it's TMI, lol. It's more just a relationship question to me, haha. Either way, I'm down to talk about it!
First story time, just for shits and giggles:
It depends on who you're having casual sex with, obviously. Some people I've heard of having hard, specific rules and some people have a similar experience to me where it was just... super casual. If there was anything up, we would just talk. We were friends. It's fun. It feels good. It's all chill, y'know?
I've had had a friends with benefits type relationships with two people--both women.
The first time it happened, we had been forming a friendship for a little bit, but we weren't super close or anything. Once, she straight up asked me if I was a virgin (which, in general, yuck, I dislike that terminology so much but whatever) when we were hanging out alone. That dissolved into conversation about sex in general. We came to the conclusion that we were both sex positive and both enjoyed sex. She told me that she had missed sex since she'd broken up with her boyfriend a while ago and hadn't gone out and hooked up with people after or anything. She didn't want to go out and just hook up. Fair enough.
I, half as a joke, half, just, why not said that we could have sex if she ever felt like it. We were friends, and I didn't want to date her, but we got along well so far, plus she was pretty. Why not?
She laughed at first, then asked me if I was serious at all. I told her, yeah, sure, if she wanted to. And... things kind of went from there.
We still talk sometimes, but she moved away, and while I have a lot of friends that are long distance so I'm fine texting and calling. It's not her speed. I have no hard feelings about it. If I'm ever where she is or she's here, I'm sure we'll get together to hang out.
And screwing around with her wasn't an all the time, like, weekly thing. We never met up specifically to fuck around, we would just hang out and then end up fucking occasionally.
(She was a fucking bomb kisser and I have to say she wore very pigmented makeup that would sometimes run and I- I can not tell you how much of A Thing I have for ruining pretty girl's makeup (or anyone's makeup for that matter 😏). It just looks so good messed up. Especially lipstick or eyeshadow/mascara. Jesus.)
The second time it happened, I met this woman in class, so we weren't friends prior. Friendly. But I didn't know her too well. We had talked in class, just chatting, and she emailed me for help on a few assignments because we were put into a cohort for peer-review stuff. Her voice was, just, gorgeous. And she was really smart. She wants to be a teacher. I could probably listen to her to talk for hours. Maybe if we'd gotten to know each other better, we could've dated or something, but we didn't. She graduated at the end of the term and moved onto her new, post-college life. I totally get it.
Anyway, she would compliment me here and there--she liked my hair, my eyes, the rings I wear, and some other stuff. She was really pretty herself, so I'd just reciprocate. Not exactly flirting but also not not flirting, haha.
I asked her if she had a partner, between asking about her life, generally, after we'd finished our work for peer review stuff once. She said she didn't and she asked if she could kiss me. I told her that sounded good. So we kissed, and then we actually went back to working, lmao. No funny business.
We kissed more the next time we met up outside of class. Literally, just taking a break from studying.
And, I don't know... dating never came up? It was one of those situations where we were alone and were kissing and more or less doing some heavy petting. Then it seemed just like it'd be a good time to keep going and I do like eating pussy, so I offered, she said yes. She actually complimented me on my skills the same way she had complimented me before and I laughed because... who wouldn't? She was sweet.
Then, the next time we got together, she asked if I'd do it again. She exchanged phone numbers and fucked around a few more times. Not too many times, though.
Funnily enough, I think my favorite thing that happened between us was when we were in class, and I licked my lips because... yeah. Sometimes you do. And she jabbed her fingers into my side to make me stop 💀💀 I choked, trying not to laugh too hard in front of everyone (and we did go to her car after class 👀).
(Also, I just have to confess that she was so, so good. She would stay still if I told her to, even when I went down on her. She also would stay basically silent if I told her to make not sounds, no matter what I did to her 👀 It was fucking incredible.)
Second, advice:
Again, it depends on the person. Some people want the straightforward version where there is an agreement, a conversation, and some people probably are more just about letting things flow naturally.
If you feel like you want a direct conversation, it might be better to just have that direct conversation so you can find someone who wants the same thing, so there would be the least amount of confusion possible. If you're content to let it flow... I don't know. That's harder. You can wait for conversations that shift in the direction of sex or push conversations that way.
I mean, maybe don't go, "hey, have you heard of this thing called causal sex? We should do that!" But you also could. Whatever you feel like.
If someone doesn't want to or refuses, that's them. They're allowed to say no. Try not to feel too defeated or rejected. There's a million reasons someone might not want to. It doesn't need to be a result of something with you. Y'know? (Not that I think you'll have a problem with that, knowing you've turned down causal sex yourself.)
If I were you, though, I think I might go for the direct conversation. Being on the ace spectrum makes sexuality different from allosexual people, obviously, and if you're going to fuck around with allosexual people it may come in handy to lay out, hey, this is what's going on with me, these are the feelings I have.
The people I've casually fucked have all known that I have a weird thing with sex where there needs to be some type of kink or power dynamic or something more than just strictly "vanilla sex" for me to be interested because... I don't know, that's just how I work 🤷🏻‍♂️ That and I'm not immediately in for being gotten off during sex. Sure, it's nice, but I'd much rather be getting the other person off. It's just more fun. And having said those things out loud to those women, it was much more fun because of that.
In conclusion... did I help? Or did I just tell you stories about the people I've fucked? I don't know. Hopefully, I helped. Or, hopefully, I at least gave you something to think about.
P.S. Everyone is awkward, you'll be okay, sweetheart!
