I want to be clear about my position on "anti" and "critical" tags, because I don't make an effort to filter out either and I want to explain why. What I do filter out are triggers, and my triggers are much different and more specific to my phobias.
I am fine with people using them as a means to filter content. I understand that there are valid reasons as to why people don't want to see that. It can be very stressful, and if your point in being in fandom is to enjoy it without any conflict, that's fine.
I do not like to filter out "anti" or "critical" content because it doesn't actually prevent people from making more anti content, and I personally would like to know what people think and say even if I am very much against what they have to say.
If I wanted to live in peaceful, blissful ignorance, I would. I block individual people who I don't want to interact with me for that reason. I usually find those people because they use "anti" tags, but I only block people who say really inflammatory things.
I personally think that anti tags do more to serve the people using them than they do the people who are expected to filter them, in that people frequently use them as an excuse to say what they want without any "consequence."
The "I tagged it so you shouldn't be upset" stance is so bizarre to me as someone who has been active in fandom since 2001. There's no reason why a person should have to prevent themselves from being upset by something upsetting you said.
Consider that my unwillingness to block every anti and critical tag that exists is my way of curating my own fandom experience. Consider that I might want to critically challenge anyone making arguments against my interests.
I don't like when people talk about certain topics a certain way. My way of "coping" with that is not to block it out. It is very much to challenge it when I think it's right to do so, and block when I think that the conversation will lead nowhere.
I don't make a conscious effort to "go into" anti spaces, but why anyone thinks they're these sacred safe spaces we should respect is beyond me. What I do is I stumble upon anti posts via search whenever I am looking for content I like.
It's easy to either ignore content you don't like or not tag "anti" content with recognizable names that can be easily searched. If you're going to be a jerk about it, you can be nice by not expending so much effort on hating something you don't understand.
Using "anti" tags is not about being nice. It's about being able to say what you want without criticism, and then blaming people for being upset when they see what you said because they should be "curating their fandom experience."
This becomes obvious whenever anyone challenges what a person says in an "anti" post, because instead of acknowledging the person's argument or even standing up for your own opinions, it becomes an argument about the tags.
That is my opinion on the matter. It's okay if you think differently, but you're not going to get me to filter tags I don't want to put effort into filtering just to ignore bad content when that's not how the world works outside the internet.
The same terrible opinions people put into "anti" tags carry over into public spaces, and there are plenty of other places online outside of Tumblr that don't let you live in a bubble away from all of the hate.
I will filter and block what I want when I want to. I do not need anyone to condescend me anytime I push back on "anti" content and that goes for people on both sides of the content. Challenging the things I see is how I curate my fandom experience.
If that's not you, fine. You do you, but this is not a position I will waver on and it's not something that I think is wrong. I do tag my critical posts for people who need them, but don't assume everyone does need them or benefits from them.

I read the manga in one night. imagine my surprise at 3 am when I realized I sacrificed sleep for that terrible ending. not trying to be dramatic but it did my head in. and then the fans celebrating that atrocity. I was glad i found your Tumblr
Oh damn, in one night?
I was actually very curious what the perception of someone who read the story in one go would be, since the monthly wait wouldn’t be there to introduce bias. It’s why I’ve been considering rereading the whole series for myself to see if maybe I’m the one who misinterpreted things. But I guess the ending is still shitty, huh.
I’m sorry you wasted your time. I don’t think it’s dramatic to feel that way. I legit cried over the bullshit we got because the story meant a lot to me (Eren’s perspective on life made my suicidal thoughts stop at one point) and it was shat on.
Glad my posts are there to offer some comfort. I personally didn’t have any other blog that actively posted to take solace in. But hearing that the effort I put into analyzing this series is at least still benefiting someone out there makes me feel better about all the time and energy I wasted on it.

I honestly feel like I’m screaming into the void at this point but people please, TAG YOUR SHIT! I love seeing more people using Tumblr as the rest of social media descends into madness around us but heed my warning as a Tumblr old person.
You wanna talk shit? Use the Anti tag. You are fully entitled to your own opinions (we support you!) but the main tags are for peace and love my friends.
You don’t like something the writers did? Anti. You don’t like a guy on a sports ball team? Anti. You hate a character so much you don’t know what to do with yourself? Anti. You think a popular celebrity is a despicable human being? ANTI!!!
Also as an added bonus, if you’re sick and tired of people who support the person/place/thing you hate fighting you in the reblogs and in your asks? The Anti tag will be filled with people who share your thoughts and the people who are most likely to argue with you will have it blocked.
So fare thee well tumblr bretheren! Go forth and tag your antis, hate in peace and be well with it! But keep it out of the main tag please, some of us are too old for this shit.

Oh god whenever someone pulls the "how much jared hate have you seen in his tag??" it makes my eyes roll out of my head. Honestly tho? I don't know because I can't even follow my favorite actors tag because of the insane amount of hate that has been in his tags. So anon, there's an answer for you regarding that. So f**k off telling others how to tag before you get your hateful side to do the same.
Here's the funny thing.. I'm not on Tumblr surfing tags anyways.. because the limited amount of time I did it, it's full of metas about Jared being problematic that has like 0.05% of truth in them.. but I can't even go to the explore page of my Instagram because AAs and Hellers fill up the Jared tags and even Walker tags with Jared hate, anti Jared tiktok videos, Destiel posts and Jensen praises... Don't even get me started on Twitter... I have 17,000+ blocked on twitter and still people keep making new accounts just to post hate on the specific tag #WeLoveYouJaredPadalecki ...

Pro tip: If you have a negative take about a character, it would behoove you to put it in the anti tag and not the character's main tag.

In deep red areas you're a republican who is thinking of voting for someone else if they don't vote what you want on this specific bill because it impacts your republican ideals so very much
In swing states you're an undecided voter who's gonna go blue if they don't vote how you like
remember to call because that way their phone is going off and their peers can hear it because their offices are close together (emails and letters don't work like that), so it can rattle them if they get high volumes. remember that you gotta make them feel like they're losing something.

hey!!!! remember standing rock water protectors and the dakota access pipeline?
the massive, poorly constructed environmental risk that spat all over the Standing Rock Sioux people's treaty rights? that dug up their sacred burial sites? the one where the oil corporation who owned it bought out a private company to do a sham of an "environmental analysis" and never consulted the tribe and STILL didn't actually get approval? the one that's literally operating illegally and without proper permits right fucking now?

surprising absolutely no one, the army corps of engineers this week (September 8, 2023) released an EIS (environmental impact statement) draft for public comment that takes into account absolutely 0 of the tribe's concerns, and in fact did not consult with them once in the process!
they're going to officially approve the pipeline.

hey uh so I haven't seen anyone talking about this here yet, but
the amazon river, like the biggest river in the fucking world, in the middle of the amazon fucking rainforest, is currently going through its worst drought since the records began 121 years ago

there's a lot going on but I haven't seen much international buzz around this like there was when the forest was on fire (maybe because it's harder to shift the narrative to blame brazil exclusively as if the rest of the world didn't have fault in this) so I wanted to bring this to tumblr's attention
I don't know too many details as I live in the other side of the country and we are suffering from the exact opposite (at least three cyclones this year, honestly have stopped counting - it's unusual for us to get hit by even one - floods, landslides, we have a death toll, people are losing everything to the water), but like, I as a brazilian have literally never seen pictures of the river like this before. every single city in the amazonas state is in a state of emergency as of november 1st.

we are used to seeing images of rio negro and solimões, the two main amazon river affluents, in all their grandiose and beauty and seeing these pictures is really fucking chilling. some of our news outlets are saying the solimões has turned to a sand desert... can you imagine this watery sight turning into a desert in the span of a year?
while down south we are seeing amounts of rain and hailstorms the likes of which our infrastructure is simply not built to deal with, up north people who have built everything around the river are at a loss of what to do.
the houses there that are built to float are just on the ground, people who depend on fishing for a living have to walk kilometers to find any fish that are still alive at all, the biodiversity there is at risk, and on an economic level it's hard to grasp how people from the northern states are getting by at all - the main means of transport for ANYTHING in that region is via the river water. this will impact the region for months to come. it doesnt make a lot of sense to build a lot of roads bc it's just better to use the waterway system, everything is built around or floats on the river after all. and like, the water level is so incomprehensibly low the boats are just STUCK. people are having a hard time getting from one place to another - keep in mind the widest parts of the river are over 10 km apart!!
this shit is really serious and i am trying not to think about it because we have a different kind of problem to worry about down south but it's really terrifying when I stop to think about it. you already know the climate crisis is real and the effects are beyond preventable now (we're past global warming, get used to calling it "global boiling"). we'll be switching strategies to damage control from now on and like, this is what it's come to.
I don't like to be alarmist but it's hard not to be alarmed. I'm sorry that I can't end this post with very clear intructions on how people overseas can help, there really isn't much to do except hope the water level rises soon, maybe pray if you believe in something. in that regard we just have to keep pressing for change at a global level; local conditions only would not, COULD NOT be causing this - the amazon river is a CONTINENTAL body of water, it spans across multiple countries. so my advice is spread the word, let your representatives know that you're worried and you want change towards sustainability, degrowth and reduced carbon emissions, support your local NGOs, maybe join a cause, I don't know? I recommend reading on ecological and feminist economics though
however, I know you can help the affected riverine families by donating to organizations dedicated to helping the region. keep in mind a single US dollar, pound or euro is worth over 5x more in our currency so anything you donate at all will certainly help those affected.

also as an afterthought, I wanted to expand on why I think this hasn't made big news yet: because unlike the case of the 2020 forest fires, other countries have to hold themselves accountable when looking at this situation. while in 2020 it was easier to pretend the fires were all our fault and people were talking about taking the amazon away from us like they wouldn't do much worse. global superpowers have no more forests to speak of so I guess they've been eyeing what latin america still has. so like this bit of the post is just to say if you're thinking of saying anything of the sort, maybe think of what your own country has done to contribute to this instead of blaming brazil exclusively and saying the amazon should be protected by force or whatever

Thought I was the only one that disliked M. The Aot fandom worships her for some reason. It's refreshing to find like minded individuals.
Lol no, you're not alone. There aren't many of us who dislike her as passionately as I do, but there are a handful of people out there who don't worship her.
I personally never liked her from the get-go because of how she treated Eren (Obsessive and violent...no thanks ✋🏽. If Eren was a girl, her behaviour wouldn't have been considered so cute but I guess boys can't be abused or objectified 🙄) and overpowered characters like the Ackermans just don't appeal to me in general, but I started tolerating her once she seemed to be getting some character development in RTS.
That all went to shit once we got the lovely necrophilic scene. Now I actually vehemently hate her for scarring me permanently. Before, I was just mostly indifferent about her (like if she had died, I wouldn't have been upset but I also didn't actively want her to die).

I love Zutara as much as the next girlie, but I think people romanticizing Zuko catching Azula's lightning in the Final Agni Kai are doing Zuko's character a massive disservice. He would have done that for anyone. Not just anyone in the Gaang, anyone.
He did it for the division he ended up getting burned over. He did it for his subordinate that was going to fall to his death after the ship was struck by lightning. He did it for Lee, when he was kidnapped by Gao. He did it for Iroh, when he confronted his dad and tried to break him out of prison. He did it for the whole Gaang at the Western Air Temple. He did it for Sokka, Suki, and Hakoda at the Boiling Rock.
His whole character revolves around saving everyone else first. Hell, he tried to save Zhao of all people! There's no way that would have gone well for Zuko if Zhao had actually taken his hand. He always does what he thinks is right first before considering his own safety.
Zuko always saves other people. Even if, especially if, he can't save himself.
