As far as your friends, I would kind of...like test the waters by mentioning queer things that are relatively accepted in society right now. Queer TV shows, celebrities, etc. Bring them up in front of your friends and see if they react positively. If they do...talk more about queer stuff. If not, you know they aren't a safe space.

Yo what advice do you have for tracing your family history??? (Excluding giving your DNA to those heritage companies)

Hi! So I started w Ancestry.com, just the free version since there's pretty often enough free 'hints' to at least give a starting point for what records you're looking for, and I think they also have a free trial if you make a new account. From there I mostly dug through state and county archives for birth/death/marraige certificates, and geneaology databases for specific areas, which have an advantage over official archives in that they often include records of relatives of people living in that area, but who don't live in the area themselves.

My other tip would be to ask your family about your history if you can, cause it can help fill in the gaps and make the paper trail of documents make more sense, like for example, some of the records for my great-grandfather say he was born in Odessa, Ukraine (then Russia), and some say that he was born in Ohio, but according to my mom, he was born in Odessa but lied about his birthplace because of anti-Russian sentiment.

Other than that I don't really know; I'm still new to researching it myself, and right now I'm very stuck trying to find anything about my (other) great-grandfather's side of the family, because rural West Virginia was kind of shit at keeping records lol

I hate Laenyra. People mainly hype it up to move attention away from Daemon and Laena’s marriage and center their self insert into their relationship .

Yeah it’s ironic that the same people hyping up Laryngitis and saying all those who oppose it are racistare the same people who love dunk on Elia non-stop and say that she was fine with her husband sleeping with Snow Becky because she’s dornish. The same people hyping up Jon’s parents are the same people who dunk on Dettles.

I’ll be the first one to say that I don’t give a damn about Ravioli and Snow Becky, but I’ll admit that it was GRRM’s intention to make them romantic(it’s definitely not supposed to be grooming even if I find the whole situation weird). I’ll even admit that there are plenty of similarities between Dettles and that ship, but you’d have an easier time finding a leprechauns gold than getting those people to admit the same.

Don’t get me started on the Bridgerton fandom. A bunch of ungrateful bigots who keep making demands of Shonda while at the same time degrading her and saying there are “too many Black people” on the show (and then crying when people call them out for being the anti-Black morons they are).

And I get that Masali hasn’t been officially announced as Sophie, and of course she’s not the only possibility, but she’s the only one whose name that has been circulating around that fits the casting call. Her schedule was cleared last year and she’s got no upcoming projects. She’s following multiple members of the cast and multiple members are following her back.

(Nicola, Hannah Dodd, Hannah New, Victor Ali who is suspected to be playing John, as well as one of the hairdressers who does the main casts hair to name a few. Hell, there was even one of the directors following her, but he mysteriously unfollowed her for some reason).

More importantly, no one else has produced another casting call to contradict said casting call or to show that the role she was cast for is a member of the Stirling family.

(I’m not going to get into it, but if you’re “evidence” hinges on Masali and Victor Ali looking alike please go down to Lens Crafters cause they don’t look nothing alike outside of being dark and Black. It’s fucking offensive as fuck to say they do).

And as I said in a previous ask, the Bridgerton team has cast a role with a specific race in mind cause they were looking for an Indian woman to play Kate(which is how some people figured Simone Ashley was playing Kate when most of Kates fancasts were white women👏🏽).

So the fact that you have so many people running around like a chicken with its head cut off claiming it’s impossible for Sophie to be Black, that Sophie should be x race, or just being racist jackasses is disturbing asf. You shouldn’t have to see this bullshit:

JUNE 7, 2023 — HRC National Emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans & Legal Rulings on Florida's Anti-Trans Laws

Today in queer news, the Human Rights Campaign has issued a state of emergency for all queer Americans. This declaration comes after months of horrific anti-trans legislature being passed across the nation, and a sharp increase in anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, no doubt thanks to the rising platform of the alt-right.

According to the HRC, "More than 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been signed into law this year alone, more than doubling last year’s number, which was previously the worst year on record."

This comes as no surprise to the trans* community, as over 500 bills have been introduced regarding our existence alone. The Trans Legislation Tracker (as of the time writing this post) cites a total of 556 bills across 49 states, with 80 bills passing, 372 in active discussion, and 104 failing to make it into law.

The HRC provides a chart detailing the state of LGBTQ+ rights, including the presence of non-discrimination laws, conversion therapy bans, bathroom bans, LGBTQ+ erasure laws, and more. This chart is presented below, without text description.

Likewise, there are resources provided for those who want to take action (LGBTQ+ Americans Fight Back: A Guidebook for Action), or those who want to see the impact of this year's legislative session (LGBTQ+ Americans Under Attack: A Report and Reflection on the 2023 State Legislative Section).

On the other side of the news, U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle has put a stop to the enforcement of anti-trans legislation in the state of Florida.

EDITED NOTE: Judge Hinkle is also the individual who, in 2014, ruled Brenner v. Scott and found that Florida's "statuatory and constitutional bans on same-sex marraige were federally unconstitutional".

Erin Reed, aka erininthemorn, reports that "In a significant legal ruling, a federal judge put a stop to Florida's ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth. The lawsuit, originating in the Northern District of Florida, challenged both the medical board's prohibition of such care and SB254, a bill which entrenched this ban into law, while extending its reach to adult trans care. Today's scathing decision, delivered by Judge Hinkle, asserts the ban as likely unconstitutional, thus blocking its enforcement. His 44-page ruling, though initially limited, is anticipated to broadly apply to trans youth who need care in Florida, paving the way for the resumption of such care in the near future." [SRC.]

Fuck You, a message for the Supreme Court of the USA

I have one kid. When I was younger, I wanted between 3 and 5. Being a mother was a huge part of what I wanted out of my life, and always has been.

Part of why I have been fighting depression for years is difficulty carrying a child. Due to past medical history most of my pregnancies have ended with blood, disappointment, and pain both physical and psychological. I've stopped counting them and leave it to my medical records to keep the tally. It's fucking awful. Now I get to have a whole new category of stress on top of it all.

Many anti-abortion laws would involve the police in my medical issues. Maybe someone takes offense at my progressive stance for certain political policies and decides I'm the type who "likes having abortions."

Aside from the obvious fact that no sane person would enjoy period pain cranked up to 300% normal levels, risk of side effects as long as my arm, and the prohibitive cost of such a procedure, this myth persists in certain highly religious circles. You believe that the devil makes it feel pleasurable, like a God damn orgasm, for people like me? Oh, fuck you in particular.

Nobody wants to have an abortion as a life goal or a fun time.

It's a tragedy. It's the panic button. It's FUBAR. It's an infection slowly eating the fetus and giving the mother sepsis. It's dangerous pregnancies that were a common way women died up until about nine decades ago. It's not being able to feed yourself in an at-will employment state because you "can't keep up" or "just don't look the part anymore." It's making slightly too much for welfare and unable to afford a home.

The fact that women like me were leveraged - women who want another child and can't manage it on their own who might want the supply of "clean" babies up for adoption increased - makes me sicker than I already feel right now. There are plenty of kids in foster care, but their irresponsible mom might have done a drug or been homeless. No, these cunts only want pure children from women who were responsible, educated, and with enough resources that they would have had an abortion if they legally could. That this logic bites itself in the ass by implying that no woman who isn't a crack whore would choose to bring an unwanted or unafordable child to term is irrelevant to the people celebrating this massive expansion of big government into the lives of women.

Small government conservatives in the USA?

Where? Who? Show me these people who want government so small they can drown it in a bathtub (How did that work out in the 1780's with the AoC?) but big enough to regulate my sex and love life? These activist judges, some appointed through unprecedented partisan games, are already talking about sodomy and marraige laws. You going to come in and check that my husband and I aren't doing anything too kinky? Gonna use browser history snooping to see who might be doing sex wrong like it's the 1600's?

I genuinely feel sick to my stomach on the overturning of Roe v. Wade. This sets a deadly precident for other rights. This includes gay marraige.

I've been crying today. I simply cannot begin to comprehend why people would hate women and those with a uterus so much to make them criminals to strip their rights away.

Kinda venting here but I know people like blaming feminism for "ruining marriage", particularly men. While some types of feminism *coughlibfemscough* may say garbage like open relationships/polygamy/etc are okay, I think feminism ultimately exposed the type of heinous crap going on in marriages: marital rape, financial abuse, domestic violence, etc. And the type of people who benefitted from silence on those topics are upset that they've been exposed

And it's those people who benefit from abuse that really scares me away from wanting to get married. You've got guys out here who shroud themselves with kindness and when they've got a woman trapped by marriage, only then will they expose all the horrible things they were hiding like violent kinks, porn use, or just abusive behavior.
