religion will be like, it's because women talk to animals and eat fruit that childbirth is so painful, and the soil so hard to work! Not because we took away all of the midwives and created horrendous agriculture practices

So there's this person called @alaticba
He's pro-choice & made a claim that the SCOTUS recently ruled that performing abortions when the woman's life is in danger, is illegal. I asked him for a source.
First, he linked to the White House and Youtube videos (!), which is of course ridiculous since the government is pro-choice and you cannot expect any integrity from them. Youtube videos are also not a reliable source.
I asked for a direct link to the court decision & the judgements the judges had made. This is where it gets interesting. For some reason, he began to argue that saying "The court ruled that life-threat abortions should be illegal" is not a claim that he had made, and also proceeded to call me names. "Motherfucker", "Dense," and "Stupid" are some of them.
And now he's spamming my inbox & chat to say that he won't let me get away easily.
What's hilarious is that he STILL has not backed up his claim with proper evidence.

I wish religion wasn't such a hot topic even in radfem circles. I have personal experience with Islam and Hinduism and when I criticize them at all, its like people go absolutely mad and get extremely defensive.
As an aside I hasn't found a single mainstream religion that's good to women, so no I don't support Christianity either.

As a young girl in the church I was taught to "respect myself."
We were told it from every angle. Our teachers, our preachers, our parents. "As a woman you have to respect yourselves." "How can men respect you if you're not respectful of yourself?"
I'm not sure why an 11 year old girl needed tips on how to make men respect her, but they felt it was important nonetheless.
So I educated myself and spoke my mind. I wanted to be respected for how clever I was. I asked questions that were thoughtful and well reasoned, I corrected elders when they were wrong and I focused on knowing as much as I could.
They didn't like that.
So I put all that aside, and instead I learned about feminism. I decided I should be respected for how firm I was. I said no loudly and clearly. I made my boundaries known and I reacted loudly when they were crossed.
They didn't mean like that either.
So instead, I put myself in therapy. I wanted to be respected for how self assured I was. I started caring for myself and putting me first. I healed from my trauma and learned how to not repeat old cycles, and everyone who I could, I brought them up with me.
They didn't like that at all.
No, apparently the type of self respect they wanted me to learn was the type where I beleived lies at face value, said nothing to those who crossed my boundaries and wallowed in depression and toxic cycles. But also like, while keeping my shoulders covered or something.
Silly me.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

“The Adam and Eve myth, possibly the single most effective piece of enemy propaganda in the long history of the sex war, had other crucial implications. It performed the essential task of putting man first in the scheme of things; for in all the father god religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, God creates man first: woman is born after man, framed of an insignificant and expendable lump of his bony gristle, and taken out of him like a child from its mother. Essentially this is just one of the countless attempts of womb-envious men to usurp women's power of birth: with a swift piece of patriarchal prestidigitation, God reverses biology and stands nature on its head with the birth of his man-child, in defiance of evolution, where men and women evolved together, and of life itself, where woman gives birth to man. God now assumed the power of all new life—all the monotheisms taught that God alone created and breathed life into each fetus, using the woman in whom he lodged it simply as an "envelope," in the Islamic phrase.”

Please please please I’m begging you. Please stop romanticizing Islam. Don’t give any religion immunity from criticism. Don’t make any religion, especially Islam, ‘sacred’. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind about organized religions. If it’s ok to criticize Christianity, it’s more than ok to criticize Islam. Take this from someone who has lived all their life under Islamic dictatorship and has seen everything that could go wrong with a religion, go absolutely wrong.
Tumblr media
This man, Javad Rouhi, has been sentenced to death by hanging, not once, not twice but three times. He is accused of insulting Islam and the Islamic regime is going to kill him for it. You can’t do anything for the executions to stop in iran. But please, don’t hurt us more by talking romantically about a religion you don’t know nothing about and have decided to turn a blind eye to how corrupt people in power have been throughout the human history using institutional religions to suppress, torture, brainwash and kill innocent people.
Don’t make religions sacred. Don’t make it forbidden to criticize religions. It kills people.

Multicultural societies can be great, but there's one condition: different cultures must be willing to learn from each other and respect each other's values.
If people from one culture are open and welcoming, but people from the other culture want to enforce their own rules and take away people's freedom in the name of their religion, then the results are going to be catastrophic. This is why Europe is suffering right now and it's women who will pay the highest price.
Wondering what I mean? Let's have a look at some statistics:
Poll: 46% of French Muslims believe Sharia law should be applied in country
Over 40% of UK Muslims support “aspects” of sharia law
If it doesn't terrify you I don't know what to tell you. It surely terrifies me as fuck.
