okay lmfao potterhead moment but the liberal argument that dumbledore isn’t gay enough and his relationship with grindelwald isn’t overt enough…

even aside from the REAL WORLD fact that it was illegal for joanne to write in so many words that dumbledore was gay for grindelwald at the time the series was published… the argument is really assuming a lot a privilege that gay people did not have historically. like. CANONICALLY as well.

dumbledore is 116 years old at the time of his death (1997). he was 18 years old when he met and fell in love with grindelwald (who within the span of like several months to a year? went from being his boyfriend to uhhh a budding war criminal and his arch nemesis) (1899 BTFW).

like wow i can’t imagine why he kept his relationship hush hush while it was happening in 18fucking99 when being gay was illegal. i can’t believe he wasn’t super open about it all the time with everyone including his teenaged students through the remainder of his life. holy shit writing kuniharu’s second POV is actually making me cry someone please send help -sobs-

i’m not even joking. i’m legit tearing up, jaw wobbling, deep nasty breaths crying.

okay.

On the subject of Kuniharu Saiki

Kuniharu DOES love his son. He does help his son in invaluable ways, teaching his son responsibility and kindness (albeit ofc sometimes in a backwards ‘what not to do’ kind of way).

Kuniharu Saiki genuinely wants his son to succeed. He wants his son to grow up to be a responsible, good person. He’s a little skewed, yes, and the way he puts it doesn’t make it very respectable, but he’s honestly concerned for his son’s well being. He wants his son to have friends, and learn, and love, and grow.

But he also insults his son on the routine, uses him and pressures him to do morally wrong things constantly because it’s convenient for him (one of the first things he does in his introduction is encourage Kusuo to rob a bank and, unlike when Kurumi tells Kusuo to kill his dad, this is shown to be a regular thing for Kuniharu), and uses him as a punching bag.

Likewise, Kusuo is absolutely vicious right back. He insults and dehumanizes his father constantly. It’s funny to him. He loves his dad so much that he’ll harrass his grandfather for harrassing Kuniharu, but he’ll also say just the most awful things right to his dad’s face. While I don’t fully blame a teenager for lashing out at a person who’s been trying to hurt their feelings to make them capitulate from day one, words matter, and Kusuo doesn’t need to bully his dad. It’s absolutely possible for children to bully their parents, and that is what he does. He’s old enough to be responsible for the choices he makes. We can tell, because he’s our POV character, that a lot of what he says are jokes. He does have a dark sense of humor. But jokes that hurt people’s feelings is bullying. What you say to people matters. Kuniharu hurts his son’s feelings. Kusuo hurts his dad’s feelings. It’s a really nasty and unhealthy cycle.

Like imagine dropping a bed on your dad just because he asked you to do something while you were watching TV, eesh lol and while Kuniharu did try to step on his teeny tiny son...Kusuo, was stepping on your dad’s face after kicking him to the floor reeeeeaaaaaally necessary?

(I do appreciate that Kusuo just straight up used his dad’s crummy taste in TV to turn it to something his ace homo leaning self would prefer - men’s butt exercises. You’d “rather” watch that huh. HUH.)

In the text of the fic, Aren tells Kusuo he did nothing wrong. Kusuo’s response to that is ‘you’re biased’. He tries to make amends with his dad in his own way through his art and he knows he could be a better son. He knows their relationship is strained. Kusuo gives what he gets.

His friends don’t know this. They only see an adult picking on a kid who’s already going through it, and who is their friend who they see the best of more often than not - so yeah. They’re VERY biased. Kurumi and Kusuke have witnessed it but they’re both focused on Kusuo because Kusuo is literally bleeding internally and even though it’s largely thanks to Kusuo’s own negligence, Kuniharu put him on the bridge he fell off of, Kuniharu is an adult, Kuniharu has been really shitty and manipulative (in canon and in fic), so it’s Kuniharu they’re blaming but NONE of them are innocent. The blame is rightfully placed but they all acknowledge they’ve fucked up too. Kuniharu, spoiled brat that he is, is just the last to acknowledge it.

And, molotow spoiler alert, he’s not wrong either - Kusuo is going to be fine, with or without action. In fact it’s gonna be outside interference that kinda kills him for a bit.

Now. To read too deeply into a gag-manga character. Kuniharu is shown to be popular in highschool. When he tells this to Kusuo in the accidental time travel chapter, he does exaggerate but not everything is shown to be untrue. He is friends with a man named Kimutaku, he was attractive enough to get noticed by Kurumi even when he was creeping on her. Also, he gives very good advice to his mangaka’s team members, showing that he knows what he’s doing (when he’s not getting egotistical and derailing them) and that he’s intelligent. He was able to drag a massively heavy piece of equipment into his house to attempt to massage his son’s shoulders, and his home has a work out room. I think Kuniharu was absolutely exaggerating a bit, but also I think there’s truth to it.

(Less different than you’d expect!)

I think that going from that, to this and this

would drive anyone fricking nuts, never mind the psychological pressure of constantly changing jobs and having to take jobs at black companies where the bosses actually assault him in part because of shit like this.

Kuniharu has a right to be concerned about his son. His son is a dick to him, and only started really changing after he almost killed four people incl. Akechi, which Kuniharu would know about because they moved right after. However, Kusuo’s maturity is something that Kuniharu honestly doesn’t get to see in canon. He doesn’t see how much Kusuo helps his friends, he doesn’t see Kusuo help and save animals and strangers, he doesn’t see Kusuo warning Mikoto that there are consequences to helping people with their powers and they’re not always good ones. He’s also shown to take for granted and not really notice all the ways Kusuo helps him, and helps out around the house because that’s the norm - we don’t always recognize something when it’s an everyday thing, gratitude takes effort.

(Thank your parents when they clean house and make you dinner kids, they’ll appreciate it so much to know you’re grateful)

He gets bullied physically and mentally at his job. When he comes home it’s to children don’t respect him and to a wife that gets scammed to the tune of millions of yen on the regular. He went from a reasonably well off and privileged youth to being the butt of the joke everywhere he went.

Kuniharu tries. But his stress comes out in the wrong ways. It doesn’t justify the wrongs he does in a world played straight where feelings get hurt, not at all, but he genuinely cares. I do try to demonstrate that in the fic. He thanks Kusuo, he buys Kusuo a present (partial bribe yes but also partial genuine olive branch), he thanks Kusuo’s friends for sticking around when his son is being a brat (which he was), he capitulates because he’s told his son is at risk of literal expulsion and that they might press charges, meaning a criminal record, just a semester before he graduates high school. He doesn’t have Kusuo’s telepathy to know that’s a bluff.

Kuniharu is a man with an inferiority complex the size of North America and it leads him to do incredibly scummy things, but he’s not the villain.

No, that’s Yoshida, who takes advantage of a crumbling household pillar the instant that he sees it.

First of all saying that they don’t have a developed relationship is by far the most idiotic thing I have ever fucking seen. And also saying they don’t have a good relationship.. Honestly I will sit back and laugh at your embarrassing ass because the WHOLE dynamic of them is about their relationship getting better.

For example this is old middle school Katsuki who is now dead. Perished, ashes, what shoes he got on in his casket? Representing the old Bakugou who used to bully Midoriya is now dead and will never come back. (This is Horis draft sketches btw)

Then look at how happy Midoriya is to be able to be friends with Kacchan.. <3

Alright, I'll bite, what's your headcanon for Faustus/Zelda/Edward?

*cracks knuckles* Okay, we’re gonna start with Edward.

So we know Faustus was Edward’s mentor and that they had a shared respect for each other (at one point in time, at least). I imagine this relationship began and blossomed through Edward and Faustus’ formative years in the academy and - when you grow up with someone, especially when you are coached and guided and vice versa, it tends to forge a pretty strong bond.

Now, the things we know about Edward as a character in canon are, quite frankly, really boring. A golden boy who did no wrong and became a martyr after overcoming adversity to enter a cishet mortal marriage? BOR-ING.

But imagine this… Edward really valued Faustus’ mentorship. For the longest time, he looked at him as his hero with stars in his eyes. He taught him so much, supported him, molded him, and challenged him. Every time Faustus walked into the library to join him in research and discussion, Edward brightened. He couldn’t wait to tell him all his ideas and hear about his. It meant everything to Edward to have (what felt like) a brother. He adored him.

Then, his younger sister comes to the academy and suddenly, Zelda and Faustus are getting close. Edward can’t really understand why, but it bothers him. Why does it bother him? He loves his mentor, he loves his sister… so what is the problem? Like he gets it… Zelda is magnificent and beautiful and intriguing. His sister is an absolute prize. It just… they used to confide in Edward separately and now they seem to be confiding in each other. It’s just different, that’s all. He notices that Faustus starts speaking more of her during their study sessions, even though that’s kind of he and Edward’s time to talk, but whatever. And like sure, they always got ready for Lupercalia by having a boys night at Dorian’s and now Faustus would rather snog his little sister in the hallways instead, but okay. It’s not like he needs him, not like it hurts to feel cast aside and unimportant after years of near-inseparable friendship, not like he’s jealous…. Is he jealous?! Satan, fuck… is he???? Why, though????

Then, one day when he and Faustus are studying like old times and Edward finally starts to feel at peace again, Zelda walks in the room and he sees his best friend’s face brighten like the sun. And he realizes… Faustus is in love with his sister. Which means… oh no… he used to get that same look on his face… for Faustus. Oh NO.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with having feelings for another man. He’s had plenty of trysts with his brothers in Satan before. (Sisters, too, but anyway.) The Dark Lord encourages us to live authentically, so long as we continue to serve him. But… oh, he doesn’t think Faustus feels the same. No, Faustus feels that way about Zelda. And he… can’t… He can’t lose his friend by telling him the truth, but he equally can’t watch his little sister be the object of his affections when it burns like a hot knife to his heart.

And he knows Zelda doesn’t love Faustus. He asked her. Maybe her face turned a little red when he did, maybe she looked down shyly for a moment and a smile crept up her face… but then she turned her chin up and told him in her haughtiest voice that her heart belonged to the Dark Lord and how dare he suggest otherwise.

So when Faustus confides in him that he plans to ask for Zelda’s hand in marriage, the absolute bite with which Edward says no is entirely justified. Zelda does not love him. And… you know… if anything, Edward’s protecting her. Who knows when Faustus will get bored of her, too, and move on to the next pretty thing that catches his eye?

Yeah, you know what? Actually, Faustus is fucking villain. A manipulator. A deceiver. Making Edward fall for him and then going after his sister. How did he not see before? What a cunt. Like yeah, he really loved watching Faustus manipulate and deceive other people, that was always really cool and endearing, but you deceive Edward? You kick his heart like a football? Jail for mentor! Jail for suave, good-looking man with a voice like velvet for ONE THOUSAND YEARS!

Yeah no, not only can he not marry Zelda, he’s gonna take all his fancy teachings and surpass him to the high priesthood. Play stupid games Fausty, get stupid prizes, m8! Take that.

Meanwhile, Faustus is out here like, “If you wanted me to fuck you, you just needed to ask, like it’s chill or whatever, the coven orgies exist for a reason. Me, you, and Zelda could’ve found a quiet corner and you two could’ve shared. Like???? But oh yeah btw my heart does belong to your sister ‘cause she’s way more interesting than you and makes me chase her, but then she lets me devour her like a bear emerging from his winter slumber and I kinda like that, so… “

And Edward’s ultimate “fuck you” is when he doesn’t tell Zelda that he said no to Faustus asking for her hand. So when Faustus distances himself, Zelda is confused and hurt, which turns to resentment, which she then confides to her dear older brother. And “oh, big brother is here to protect you, love you, cherish you. We have each other, that’s what matters, right? Yes, we’re a team, aren’t we? Bolster me and support me with stars in your eyes, sister, and we’ll both go to amazing places together.”

And Faustus… well, maybe he will finally feel a fraction of the pain Edward felt as he watches Zelda’s attention and love and adoration go to Edward instead. Not so nice when the person you want most likes another more, is it? How ya like them apples, bitch?

TL;DR - Full homo, my own personal headcanon is that Edward is a jealous wank who didn’t know how to process his feelings and his biggest feeling for a long time was that he really wanted to be topped by his mentor. And when that (perceivably) couldn’t happen, he metaphorically topped him instead.

This was all over the place, but hopefully you get the jist. A couple more folks asked about this, so next up is Faustus (if anyone cares, which you shouldn’t and probably won’t, it’s garbage anyway 🙃✌️).

Oh, I was going to confine being an obnoxious shit to Twitter in a thread, but fuck it, I can be obnoxious here too. Dual wielding.

A list of lines I had to no homo a little in order to fit with what I think they were going for, not necessarily how I interpreted it (and other assorted thoughts from this chapter):

Wow, so learning to rap from Ramuda is really better than “anything else” you’ve done before, Jakurai? I see how it is.

Wow, so you started liking rapping because of Ramuda, Jakurai? I see how it is.

I really can’t believe the fact that Jakurai walked into a doorway because he was too busy looking at Ramuda. This is a thing. That is canon. Bruh. Where’s the Kuukou image?

This is just how Japanese works, so it isn’t innuendo, but I had a pretty good snicker at Ramuda saying, “Of course it happened. Jakurai’s body is too big. It’s natural you hit your forehead on that narrow entrance!” My maturity is that of a twelve-year-old.

The “put a bandaid on your boo-boo” bit is Ramuda offering to sing Jakurai a little “pain, pain, go away” song in Japanese. I saw MC Mad Lion on Twitter (a true intellectual) localizing that as offering to kiss Jakurai’s booboo, and I was like, “Damn, true genius.”

This isn’t in the manga, but there’s a whole bit in the drama track in the waterfall scene where Ramuda wonders if Jakurai goes to the gym. Okay, Ramuda. They also have a conversation about what it’s like when Jakurai get out of the shower.

The fucking. Oh my god. “I’ll follow your lead to the end of this adventure” line. This line will be the death of me. I legitimately can’t express the way it sounds to me in Japanese. More literally, it’s “Let me accompany you until the very end” or “Let me follow your lead until the very end”. The verb Jakurai uses can also be read as “to date”, although that’s not how he means it here. Still, I like to amuse myself by imagining otherwise. (Hifumi and Doppo use this word a lot, which provides me with hours of free entertainment.)

Mostly unrelated, but I translated “Goodness, Amemura, you really are something else...” as “Amemura, you really are one kind of a kind...” in the rough draft. Had a little laugh. Changed it.

I had to get a little funky with the “Something got you smiling, Jakurai?” bit. The original has Ramuda asking Jakurai what he found fun, and Jakurai answers with the swings. The issue is that Japanese is much more loose with tenses than English, so this + the demands of the text boxes meant that this didn’t work well no matter what I tried. Anyway, I need you to see what this looked like in the translation doc because hoo boy.

“It’s rather odd to be back here now with you” was originally “Being here with you now gives me a mysterious feeling.” Jakurai, you are fucked.

Jakurai’s really like, “Yeah, I went out and hung around with Ramuda all day which let me face my heart and accept who I am, although I may be different from others. I would never have realized this without Ramuda.” Jesus fucking christ, man. Who let this be canon? I am so angry. How dare King Records give me exactly what I want?

I lowkey (highkey) hate the “Let’s make the world fun!” line of Ramuda’s because I feel like this isn’t a good wording of it, but it’s also a hella significant line. He uses this around people he cares for (see Fling Posse), and to be honest, the world is not really a fun place for Ramuda. Ramuda’s life fucking sucks. Coming in on the tail end of Jakurai’s comment about Ramuda always smiling (which broke my god damned HEART, btw), Ramuda’s emphasis on a “more, more” fun world makes it sound like he actually wants to smile for real for once. And that he trusts Jakurai enough to think they can make this be a reality. Fuck.

“I’m sure we can if we work together” is another line I can’t express how it makes me feel in Japanese. More literally, it’s “Yes, if you are with me, then I have a feeling it can be done.” The way it’s worded makes it sound (to me) like it wouldn’t be possible UNLESS Ramuda and Jakurai are a part of the arrangement (with the focus being on Ramuda). That and the face Jakurai makes... AY DIOS MIO. Can’t handle this. Can’t. HANDLE. This.

I have so many feelings.

That last ask about were Eli and Demetri ever romantic pre-Cobra Kai... I have a head canon about that I wanted to share! I can just imagine like... maybe Eli and Demetri sometimes, if one of them was REALLY upset, would give each other a little peck on the lips? Like it was just platonic affection and they hardly ever did it, but sometimes if one of them was really sad or crying or something the other would hug them and like maybe give them a tiny kiss? But then one day Eli is really sad and they’re just laying in bed and Demetri is holding him and gives him a little kiss on the lips but Eli gives him another quick kiss and another until they’re making out for like... a minute really frantically and then Eli just bursts into tears and Demetri just holds him and strokes his hair and says “it’s okay, I’m here” 😭

Hahahahaha oh my goodness of COURSE these clueless-ass boys would convince themselves a literal KISS ON THE LIPS was totally 100% platonic. Just good ol’ bros being bros XD I can honestly see it though, these poor fellows are so deep in denial about their sexualities that they’re found Narnia in the back of that closet XD

Even if a peck on the mouth was just a little TOO gay for them to be comfortable with, I can see them doing these kind of “comfort kisses” on other parts of the body! Like maybe when Eli is crying really hard and Demetri is holding him (because I think we can all agree Demetri does this!!! And is more than happy to!!! Lol), Demetri will lean in and just give him a little kiss on his forehead or the top of his head. And they’re so soft and subtle that they can both kinda pretend it didn’t happen after the fact--Demetri can pretend he didn’t do it, Eli can pretend he didn’t feel it--and if it never happened, they can’t actually be gay, right???

But I do love the idea of Demetri giving Eli a little “comfort kiss” on the lips, and then it just...escalates, until both of them lean back like “Holy shit, what the fuck did we just do???” And Eli especially is panicking because oh god oh god oh god he ENJOYED that, is he gay??? He doesn’t want to be gay, he CAN’T be gay, what the hell is going on??? And he just breaks down and starts sobbing, but good old Demetri stays and holds him through it until he’s cried out every tear he has and can finally breathe easily again. Demetri then just whispers to him that they never have to bring this up again if Eli doesn’t want to, and the implication is clear--Eli doesn’t have to be gay, not if he doesn’t want to be. And maybe if he lets the memory of how much he loved what he just did fade--maybe even to the point that one day he thinks he just imagined it--he won’t have to end up being some homo freak and he can just like girls and be normal. And Eli just nods.

True to his word, Demetri never mentions the incident again. That is, until years later--when, in a future neither Demetri nor Eli could have possibly imagined on that desolate, haunting night spent crying on Demetri’s bed, they walk into a karate dojo in Daniel LaRusso’s backyard holding hands, Demetri with toned muscles on his shoulders and Eli with his hair up in purple spikes. Demetri smirks and turns to Eli, saying “Do you STILL not want me to mention that time in 8th grade we made out on my bed for like 10 minutes and then insisted it wasn’t actually gay? Because I hate to break it to you, buddy, but I think we may be a little past that point.” Eli goes bright red and starts spluttering wildly before managing “IT WAS ONLY FOR 3 MINUTES, ASSHOLE.”

puck/kurt and the word chalk

Hey anon sorry this took so long!

Okay, so, I do ship Puckurt, but not, like, canon Puck and Kurt. The only reason I ship PucKurt so much is because of fanfiction tbh, in fact some of my fave glee fics are Puckurt because the author(s) are just so good at writing? Like wow? One that comes to mind is one where Puck is like... into theatre and acting and his dad is queer..? Also this S3 rewrite (/write because I think it was written before S3) with Fuckurt that was really well written... If something's well written I will ship it, it's a problem i have.

Puckurt + Chalk

Okay so the first thing that came to mind for me is like them as kids.

little baby Kurt is drawing on the sidewalk with chalk all by himself and little baby Puck is like, who is this fancy looking kid and what is he doing in my neighbourhood.

(I can see Puck living in the slightly rougher parts of Lima, not really the suburbs but near the comercial parts, and maybe Hummel's Tires and Lube is near by and that's where Baby Kurt is, sitting outside the tire shop doodling on the pavement/parking lot/something - so maybe It's not Puck's neighbourhood maybe he's there with his mom for Burt to fix the car?? idk man)

so Puck decides to join Kurt, sitting beside him and drawing with him in silence. They communicate through drawings and little baby giggles.

Puck remembers this later in his life, in highschool, and realises 'oh fuck i had a crush on that kid' and 'oh fuck that kid is that gay kid who walks the halls in fucking panda or whatever' (he means prada) and he's scared of what that means for him and has a lot of internalised homo/biphobia so that's why he starts picking on Kurt (yeah very Karofsky-esque i know)

Later, maybe in like Senior year, while Kurt is helping him with Geography or whatever so he can graduate, Puck starts doodling on the blackboard, remembering the chalk day all of those years ago, god it's been about 10 years.

Kurt looks at the doodles confused, a small and faded memory coming to his mind, and he draws something back.

(i dunno, maybe Puck drew a dog and Kurt drew a cat or soemthing all those years ago, and then made up some elaborate story in doodles, and they recreate it then and there in the geography classroom after hours)

It's silent as they recreate the 10 year old memory, giggling like children again.

Until they finish the cute little story, and Kurt just bursts into laughter making Puck smile brightly.

"Your fucking hair" is all Kurt manages to get out - remembing this mess of curls atop baby Puck's head, falling into his eyes and sticking up this way and that, and how diffrent it is now.

"Yeah, well what 9 year old wears a fucking three piece suit dude?" Puck replies.

Chapter 93 - Fancy chair, love it.

- So my theory is that Raizel just never learnt how to write in Lukedonian either.

- Ah geez the first of the racistly depicted characters.

Chapter 96 - Suyi getting mad at the kids for complaining about Hansu is so funny like when she first appears you think she's perhaps a stuck up celebrity or a pushover but it turns out she's just a really sweet friend.

- Suyi being stunned by Rai's looks but not falling for him (same with Yuna) is one of the things I always liked about Noblesse. Like sure in the first meeting they get blushy but I'll just jot that down to the inherent beauty of nobles since I can't relate to it at all.

Chapter 97 - Frankenstein's house always being stocked with so much food because the kids just started coming over daily is hilarious. Even funnier since Frankenstein obviously thinks it's overkill but is the one stocking up anyway.

Chapter 98 - Regis and Seira 🥺 Seira's og outfit was the best one she had like it only goes downhill from here folks.

Chapter 99 - It would have been so funny if Frankenstein went "they must be cosplayers" instead of realising the two were nobles.

- Regis taking all the initiative shows how it's his roadtrip coming of age journey which is pretty clever. Also Seira's just like that but still.

- Shinwoo stop exercising in class bro. Do not flex on the rest of us this is so rude 😭😭😭

- Regis confidently saying he's a noble in class to humans he doesn't plan on mind controlling... Baby boy why are you so dumb? How is this hiding your identity??? And Seira just lets him,,, good for her.

Chapter 100 - Ah yes their elegance boner at seeing Raizel... nobles are so fucking weird.

- M-21 thinking he won't get any information because of his time at the Union and thus being surprised at how open Frankenstein is is actually really sweet. Like yeah I still think Frankenstein is an unethical and questionable person but he is kind to most humans (werewolves and nobles can go fuck themselves I guess lmao).

Chapter 101 - The second hand embarrassment I felt when M-21 called the two noblesse... how do I even consume content?

- Yeah 100% most union members don't know the difference between nobles and vampires. I bet they'd classify jiangshi as either mutants or werewolves. Or to be more specific, that would be the classification given to low leveled members. On one hand I think it's dumb that the Union gives members twisted information because how would they even use it? But on the other hand it makes sense since it prevents said members from seeking nobles for help. After all, if they believe even the 'noblesse' are vampires that drink blood, than obviously they won't see them as possible escape routes.

- 'Noblesse only applies to one person'. Yeah because Rai's brother is fucking dead. And so is whoever was his predecessor/parent.

Chapter 102 - Those bullies got backup so fucking fast like Shinwoo literally just asked Regis and Seira if they were okay then boom! They're back.

Chapter 103- Regis going ??? essentially when Shinwoo tells him to take care of Seira is so funny like yes ofc he's confused she's literally a clan leader + noble females aren't physically weaker + noble women work out just like the men.

- Rude, Regis. You can't just ask someone why they're mingling among humans. You're doing that too. Who doesn't mingle among humans smh. Even cats and pigeons mingle with us.

Chapter 105 - Love how everyone else in the household is so sick of ramyeon like Raizel stop please you're being selfish.

Chapter 106 - Frankenstein is the definition of the 'right in front of my salad?' meme at Regis and M-21 arguing at the dinner table. Then there's Seira and Raizel just waiting for the noodles to get soggy so he can't even eat. Wish Urokai could see him getting tortured like this.

- The soldier rejecting backup because he knows the enemy is the Union hurts my heart. Wanting to prevent casualties... iwi

Chapter 107 - Shark how tf do you not know about South Korea? That's one of the asian countries people actually know about. I guess maybe it's because this is from around a decade back? K-pop is more recent and made the country more visible I guess.

- Ah yes Takeo. Forever known as "the first time I read Noblesse and he appeared I thought he was Marie's sister since they had the same hairstyle". Like I thought that before even learning about the Aris Taivra fiasco. My power 😔

- Oh don't worry M-21, Frankenstein stopped experimenting on people 830 years ago. You know, as one does.

Chapter 108 - Shark has like no general knowledge. Geography? History? Tf is that I guess.

- Tao saying they're the worst possible people for the job is so funny like yeah he's right. "All we do is massacre people in warzones why are we in Seoul?"

- The rest of the squad complain or are confused about the peace meanwhile Takeo is vibing. He's the normal guy TM of the group.

- Ah yes noble lore. If you take canon at face value than the fact that nobles were around when humans first emerged and there being about 2-3 clan leaders before the current generation means you can estimate their lifespan. Ofc it differs wildly depending on how you interpret the 'first humans' part. I'll assume there were 3 generations before the current generation (mvp lord being the third generation) and won't be adding the current generation since a 0.5-2k years is kinda meaningless. I'll also be assuming that mvp lord entered eternal sleep at around the same age as his predecessors and that he would have died soon from old age anyway (since canonically they do have limited lifespans). If we assume it's just the first human ancestors (7 million years ago) than the average pureblood lifespan is 2.33 million years. If we assume it's when homo sapiens started to emerge (300k years ago) than it's 100k years. If it's about modern humans (130k years ago) than it's 43.3k years. Regardless I'll ignore it since my hcs are that nobles are effectively immortal unless killed and that the 2-3 clan leaders is a misconception due to a mix of Gechutel just straight up lying, because there are clans that have had fewer clan leaders, because I have nobles settling on Lukedonia only 30k years ago, and because Gechutel is factoring in his own age of 10.2k so it's more like 'There have been 2-3 Ru clan leaders before the Ru clan leader 10k years ago since after we settled in Lukedonia'. There's also the possibility that nobles didn't have lords or clan leaders until a few thousand years ago in canon but the species has existed for much longer.

- 'Nobles are individualistic... They don't despise humans but don't love them either.' Humans w/ ants. Now if the ants were capable of speaking with us it'd be exactly the same situation.

Chapter 109 - "What were they researching here?" Since when does the Union research anything aside from human modifications Kranz? Why do you even need to ask? More seriously this means that the Union doesn't actually only do human experimentation and weapons lmao. The other shit just isn't relevant I guess. It's a shame, I'd have loved to see how a lab focused on like, fixing up polluted waters, would be fit into the story.

- The fact that Tao beat Jake up is never mentioned enough. Also confirms that Jake was lying out of his ass about being the strongest.

- Marie being the weakest assassination squad member is interesting like I know why Crombel doesn't need bodyguards as the reader but you'd think the Union would be suspicious of him not having a stronger bodyguard. Also I still can't believe the Union doesn't bother learning who the members are aside from the ones Crombel tells them about like. Bro???

- Shark calling Takeo uptight is hilarious because the guy literally just shot the falling ceiling light which is the opposite of uptight. Either he was preventing them from getting hurt/being caught or he wanted that to happen considering the fact that he shot it and it shattered. And then he just goes back to leaning against the wall. Takeo please 🤣

Chapter 110 - And Shinwoo's still staying over at Ikhans place. Wonder when he's gonna move back. I really love their dynamic like yeah I beg my sister to get me food all the time too. Also love the apron and skeleton hoodie.

- Shinwoo went through the five stages of grief pretty quick huh? Like yeah it's his own misunderstanding that Ikhan is dating someone but still. Homophobia is annoying as always though.

Chapter 111 - Suyi paying for their food is so sweet of her and also I relate so much like yeah mood that's me and no I don't want to be paid back.

- Takeo,,, the fact that he just hands his wallet over because he doesn't like violence and doesn't want to beat them up,,, my heart. Otoh... how did he even get cornered in an dark shady alleyway lmao.

- Aris managing to make herself look like a teenager as Taivra is interesting since Takeo says he wants her to be able to go to school like Yuna and Shinwoo when he's treating them. I guess she looks younger without makeup.

- Takeo just straight up pointing his gun at Shark in public because he mentioned Taivra... anger issues much? I understand why but taking your gun out is an overreaction.

My A3 Sexuality Headcanons that no one asked for!

Sakuya Sakuma: Pansexual! He doesn’t have any preferences, honestly after his childhood he just wants someone who will love and accept him!

Masumi: Bisexual. I feel like he would love the director whether they be boy, girl, other, all, he just wants someone to give him attention, and that person just happened to be out beloved Izumi Tachibana.

Tsuzuru: okay this ones me projecting but whatever Aro/Ace Tsuzuru. He doesn’t feel romantic attraction, and instead just feels a family-brotherly kind of love towards his friends and fellow actors. He doesn’t really want to romantically be with someone, and yet instead just wants to be there for them when they need it and love them the same way he loves his family at home

Citron: Also pan!! But Pan-Romantic specifically. Citron literally just wants to love everyone ever because he’s just awesome like that, but won’t go pass kissing someone. It just makes him uncomfortable which is perfectly fine because he is Citron Lastname! But yeah, also no gender prefermance

Itaru: Bi with a male preference. I can’t really explain why I think this, I just do. Maybe because most of the woman he has ever shown interest in are his 2D anime waifus. Also I mean come on he totally had a whole thing for Lancelot he thinks knights are hot and that is so valid.

Chikage: he is a gay cabbage. Listen the only time he has said he liked a woman it was because he said they weren’t like his mom and I am just- I’m sorry I don’t trust that. This man is a gay, he is never had a boyfriend but he has definitely thought of hooking up with his boss for a raise, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Tenma: Also bi! Bi-Ace specifically. I wasn’t really sure where to put him because on one hand I feel like he has a lot of MLM energy but on the other hand his solo song so I just, bi. I feel like his gay awakening came when he played the token gay best friend in a romcom because gay actor erasure but Tenma didn’t really understand, but later he was in a scene where he was with his boyfriend who shows up for one second to remind the audience he’s a homosexual and Tenma was just: crap he’s not

Yuki: okay at first I didn’t know what to put for Yuki cause on one hand sexuality erasure Yuki has specifically said he likes girl and he defies stereotypes and stuff but on the other hand he never said he didn’t like boys so he’s bi with a female preference. I feel like Yuki is the kind of guy to just happen to fall in love with whoever and just go “oh crap did I just fall in love?” And while he likes girls more sometimes it just. Happens.

Muku: Surprise surprise he’s Pan! Muku totally reads shoujo manga with all sexualities and is very livid about good representation, will write a “negative review” (and in Muku terms that’s him being very polite, 4.5/5 stars and linking research resources) about how inaccurate a sexuality was portrayed. I feel like at first he just thought he was a very active ally and now he is just: “oh crap boys. And girls. And enbys. And genderfluids. And everyone.”

Misumi: Misumi is very homosexual, which at first he was sad about because homosexual has 2 o’s which are circles but then he realized he can just say gay but spell it like: G🔺Y so he got happy again. I feel like it was one of the reasons he was kicked out of his home, he just likes boys Jeez Ikaruga parents no rights. (I also Headcanon him as autistic but that’s not what this post is about).

Kazunari: In Kazunari Miyoshi’s world he never has to make a decision in his life and that includes sexuality. Show him a guy and a girl and tell him to pick one and he will simply overload until he picks the person who knows the most trivia on classical art or smthing. Kazunari just: adores everyone ever, and that’s okay! After a lot of internalized homophobia and fear, he was able to come out to first a small group of college friends and eventually felt comfortable with the label and was able to express it openly, now he wears it with pride!

Kumon: I really don’t have any explaining to go here, Kumon just feels gay to me. My head can’t wrap around him wanting to be intimate with a girl. I do think there was this big moment of him coming out to Juza and Juza just going “s’okay.” Then they hug and get ice cream

Banri: Banri is bisexual with a straight pride flag and a Juza Preference. Catch him at the straight pride parade telling “those Homo’s that they’re going to burn.” While making out with Juza against a wall. That’s canon I don’t take criticism

Juza: Also Gay, I feel like Kumon came out first and Juza did research and was like “oh me too.” And just thought about how he’s never actually liked a girl and thought boys were kinda pretty and oh crap Settsu slicked his hair back oh crap oh crap pretty men.

Taichi: Taichi is bisexual, with his preferences being as random as his hair. Except no weird 1/4 quarters going on. Idk where I was going with that analogy I’m sorry. Taichi just likes the humans and wants to go kiss kiss with them all, and then bring them along on his journey for fame and popularity!

Omi: Listen, Omi is the mother of Mankai, and as the mother he loves everyone unconditionally. He also totally wanted to kiss Nachi I’m sorry. I feel like Omi has a male preference, but only by a bit as he loves everyone! He is a good boy and brings all the snacks and water to the pride parades so his friends stay healthy :)

Sakyo: Sakyo is the straight~ supportive dad who doesn’t care if you’re gay straight bi pan anything as long as you pay your taxes. Was probably a little confused at first just because. Probably said “LGBT? Isn’t that a sandwich.” But he got informed did research and is now a huge ally! After more research he identifies specifically as graysexual/romantic as he feels rarely any romantic attraction at all unless under certain circumstances aka Izumi Tachibana. I akso think he suspected that Azami was LGBT for a bit before he came out so he wanted to do research so that Azami would feel comfortable coming out when he was ready. Also he can’t like, not support Sakoda (who I Headcanon as gay :) )

Azami: Azami is bi-aro. Sex? Nah he won’t even hold your hand before marriage, however he will love you no matter your gender. I also see him with a female preference just from his straight upbringing and it’s the title he feels most comfortable with after some internalized homophobia, especially with how his dad shamed him for liking makeup. He is still getting used to the LGBT community and I feel like he is still taking baby steps, learning about different identities and wanting to do all he can to support both himself and his fellow actors due to simply not knowing where to start. Don’t worry Azami take you’re time! There is no rush, you are trying to figure yourself out and we all love you so much for it, there is no shame in changing your mind later. We adore you all the same. (If you couldn’t tell, I wasn’t only talking to Azami. If you are still questioning yourself it is 100% okay, because honestly I am too. There is no rush to figure yourself out, and I hope you know that we are all here for you!)

Tsumugi: Tsumugi is gay, but I feel like he also had a lot of internalized homophobia. I feel like when he was younger he really liked Tasuku but didn’t really understand the difference between platonic and romantic, and it took some time before he was able to really discover himself and come to the identity he has currently.

Tasuku: Tasuku is gay and homophobic.

Hisoka: Hisoka is homo-demi-romantic asexual. I feel like it won’t want to date anyone without really earning their trust and feeling safe around them, and after that point he still will be pretty shy romantically, but it is very much understandable and we all still love Hisoka

Homare: Homare is pan. He doesn’t really care about gender, he just wants someone who will love him and his poetry without seeing him as broken. I feel like after his last relationship he was hesitant to date again, but after some time and help from the rest of winter troupe he was able to rediscover himself. (Also autistic Homare go brrrr)

Azuma: Azuma is an old gay man who just thinks boobs are neat. That’s it that’s the post sent tweet turn off replies.

Guy: New color who this? This is because I didn’t know what to put for Guy, so he simply doesn’t identify as anything. I don’t know a lot about Guy but I know enough to feel like relationships would be very awkward and touchy for him due to his problems with emotions and expression. He isn’t straight, but he doesn’t really identify as anything either. He’s just: Guy. Which is more than valid

,okay it's that time of the day again. Sit with me while I ramble about The Vision (and adjacent marvel bots)

Long post filled with unrevised and barely coherent thoughts ahead:

TL; DR: Vision is actually a well made analogy for modern day prejudice without being offensive, and his story about identity, family and self discovery is good as fuck.

So I was reading through wikipedia's pages on Asimov's stories because I wanted to see if I was interested about anything of his in the subject of Robots (which was always so interesting to me, don't really know where it came from I just was always kinda driven to it?? Kinda bad my first contacts with the genre were always via low-key racist media lmao), and yes, I do want to read The Caves of Steel because FUCK YEAH robots being used to ponder about humanity and the problem of punitivism bitch! I also came to the conclusion of WHY I personally like specifically the vision (and the adjacent marvel bots) so much.

My first (and most proheminent) contents with robots before I started reading marvel had been: 1- Star Wars; 2- the BBC TV show Humans; 3- The videogame Humans rip-off, Detroit Become Human and 4- the sheer disrespect in the form of filmed media that is mcu vision. So out of all of these, 2 didn't really go off about the concept of robots, they were a part of the environment that nobody really pondered too long about, and the other 2 fall under that Very Old Trope common to robot stories that is "Oh-oh! Is slavery maybe okay? Are the enslaved class actually not people at all? Wait, does that mean that black people are just like these non-human unliving entities???" (fuck you DBH for that last part btw). And I gotta say, after a while the bias and the racism in this trope gets HELLA tiring.

So this was my background coming into marvel comics. Given that mcu vision has no personality or backstory or anything of substance whatsoever besides "he died and now wendy is sad :(", when I started reading his 80s (and later 70s) appearances I had a VERY pleasant surprise. Instead of your regular "robot slavery" trope, what we had was a character who was purposely made more human (and emotional) than the others, dealing with society's views of him, after he had already figured out who he himself was.

Instead of a shitty bias disguised as "social commentary" in the form of a "robot slavery" story, we had a story about identity and prejudice which beautifully intersected with ANOTHER story about identity and prejudice in the form of Wanda. Both of these stories offered ACTUAL social commentary about current and relevant matters at the time, because that was what Marvel did! (And still does today depending on the author). The way they were portrayed made it crystal clear that they were not supposed to be read as your Perfectly White & Straight American Couple (and that's another fuck you to wandavision). They were an allegory for an interacial couple (as in literally cause Wanda is canonically jewish-romani and Vision is not, and through Marvel's allegories) and/or a queer couple. Their entire relationship was built on both of them not being humans (as in homo-sapiens sapiens), and protecting a society that hated them because being a hero and being good was in the core of both of their characters (and that's literally. The reason why they both became avengers was because they had turn on their respectives supervillain dads). They both had been through all of that shit and they found each other and they found love after a youth of constant trauma and abuse.

And it's also very interesting to see what roles intersectionality plays in their story. When their relationship first became public, Pietro (also a mutant, also an outcast) threw a hissy fit, and uninvited Wanda to his own wedding. She was the only family he had and he didn't invite her to his wedding because he couldn't accept his sister's relationship with a synthozoid. After that and a few panels where random marvel civvies made commentaries about their relationship, some calling it wrong and disgusting, a group of christian fundamentalists became bomb-men and tried to murder Vision TWICE, because his relationship with Wanda was against God. Their relationship being "unnatural", (with some mentions to the fact they couldn't have children) was mentioned countless times to portray the prejudice they faced. (Ah yes, suffering hate crimes because of who you love, the common cis straight white couple experience.)

And after that first attack on Vision's life, Wanda comments about how her, even though a mutant, can still "pass" as human, for looking human enough, whereas the Vision can't, which is why they attented against his life and not hers. (I am talking specifically about those religious fundamentalists attacks, where one of their motivations is "We can't allow a robot to be with a human. Sure, she's a mutie, but she's still a person!") (Obviously Wanda's life is incredibly fucked up because she's a mutant. The trauma and self-hatred she has because of the anti-mutant sentiment that perdured the MU is literally what causes the 2006 bullshit crisis we know as House of M.) (I'm not talking about mutants or Wanda here though. I'm trying to limit my mentions of her to explain how her mutant status intersects with Vision's synthozoid status and how that makes them an allegory for queer and interacial couples considering both marvel's care about current political issues and the time their love story was originally published, which was from around 1970-1988.)

The dehumanization that Vision faces is something that happens all throughout his first lifetime (from 1968-1989, which dates his first appereance and the first time he died in the Vision Quest) (for character reasons we do not consider White Vision, Cop Mind Patterns Vision, Jonas Vision or any Vision that doesn't have 616 Simon Williams' mind patterns in them). From his earliest adventures with the avengers he already has to deal with distrust and blind hatred by homo sapiens, and his first death is caused EXACTLY because of how dehumanized he is. Here's a quick summary: at one point Vision gets partially mind controlled by an alien supercomputer that gets him to try to take over all of the world's computers, to try to "make the world a better place". Vision realizes he's being mind controlled and pulls out of himself the crystal that was doing that to him. After that and being subjected to invasive interrogatory and medical tests in a CIA agency (in order to ""make sure it wouldn't happen again) (also the guy doing that was Gyrich if that tells you anything), he goes back to living with Wanda and their lives are fine until, when they join the West Coast Avengers, Mockingbird feat. All of The World's Governments plot to kill and erase all of Vision's backups, in order to, you know, ""make sure it doesn't happen again"". HERE'S THE THING THOUGH.

If it was Iron Man or Hawkeye or any of those heroes who had been mind controlled and tried to take over the world (which happens way more frequently in Marvel than you'd think), I doubt Gyrich and Mockingbird and Everybody would plot to MURDER THEM. They only do it EXACTLY with the ones who aren't human. They only do it to the ones to whom to commit errors (even if you're NOT in control of your mind) is not allowed. They only do it to the ones who are used as allegories for real life minorities. (However the way that they do it to Wanda is absolutely not to tell a cautionary tale the way that it was in the 80s lmao. Quesada and Bendis just outright hate her)

Where was I going with this again? AH YES. The reason why I like Vision so much and why I've been typing this for over half an hour now and got my dad made at me lol

Here it is: Even if unintetional (which I believe it was, I don't think they've thought about this while coming up with Even an Android Can Cry), Vision's story takes a trope that so easily falls into racism and subverts it by ACTUALLY making the story about a character from a minority group and gets rid of the outdated and honestly offensive slavery analogy, in order to talk about the current issues that the people this character is supposed to represent are going through. Vision does not deal with a robot slavery storyline, he deals with a storyline about dehumanization in modern times and modern prejudice. That, and also how his earlier plotlines explore his search for his own identity, and how that culminates in him denying his idea of self that Ultron put in him through abuse, alongside with finding another family in the form of Simon Williams (thank you for fucking that up, Vision Quest) create one of the most human and complex characters that I've ever read in all of Marvel.
