Seeking Participants for a Research Study on Hair-Pulling Habits!
Hi everyone!
For those with hair pulling habits, I decided to devote my thesis work towards researching trichotillomania, hoping I'd help my community and raise awareness about this disorder.
Therefore, I'm seeking participants for research that will help us better understand the relationship between specific characteristics of hair-pulling behavior, trouble paying attention or controlling impulsive behaviors, and emotion regulation styles. We will be measuring these variables through widely used self-report questionnaires.
I truly would appreciate your help!
Thank you very much!!

👻 A headcanon about what scares them for Oralie?
Having a visible bald spot. She hoards hair regrowth elixirs from slurps and burps just in case. If people saw how much hair she'd lost it would be immediately obvious that she is not at all calm and composed and effortlessly beautiful and she has a reputation to uphold, dammit

I did really good on trich these last days (maybe already weeks :o). Makes me unbelievably happy, but it is hard though. I always make sure I'm wearing my fidget rings during social interactions (especially at university). I need to actively force myself to fidget with the rings when my hands wander towards my eyes. This means I have to be aware of my stresslevel and hands all the time. But it works! It fucking works!
This whole post-covid-we-will-stop-online-courses-you-need-to-be-around-people-on-campus messes with my social anxiety. Pretty bad. But I am on my way! I love how many eyelashes I have, I am trying to keep them♡ I am so thankful my body is still able to grow eyelashes after years of ripping them out. Let's stay strong ♡

Since y’all (not anyone in particular but like mostly those cheap “informational websites” still don’t get it, here’s the simplest explanation.
BFRBs and self-harm MAY OVERLAP, but they are NOT THE SAME THING.
Self-harm is an act that causes deliberate harm to yourself. It is usually a conscious decision at first (not always, but usually) even if the self-harmer doesn’t know why. It is often a way to express or cope with emotional or physical pain.
A BFRB (Body Focused Repetitive Behavior) is a type of RECOGNIZED (and usually self-diagnosable) DISORDER that caused a habit or behavior, usually self-grooming, that can cause injury and pain to the person with said disorder, and cannot be broken despite repeated attempts.
You CAN self-harm the same way a person may engage with a BFRB. But a BFRB is not inherently self-harm or self-injury. A person with dermatillomania scratching at their skin is NOT INHERENTLY THE SAME as a person self-harming by scratching at their skin. This same rule applies to any and all methods of self-harm and any and all BFRBs.
Please get it straight this is so frustrating
