There is a bit of mindfulness in this story. When you're able to stop and admire what's around you, you start to realize how beautiful everything is. The shadows cast through the trees that fall onto everything below, the separation and blending of fabrics in the washer, how the world is reflected in puddles, but also the smell of something delicious down the road, the sound of the wind blowing through a bustling city, the feeling of your favorite sweater, the taste of something new. Those are all beautiful things that you get to experience if you take the time to enjoy them.

Handala (حنظلة) is a symbol of Palestinian resistance. He was created in 1969 by political cartoonist Naji al-Ali, critical of Israel as well as Arab regimes.

Handala is 10 years old, the age Naji was when he was forced to leave his home during the 1948 Nakba, and is always seen from his turned back. Today, Handala is still 10 years old. On the day Handala is able to return home, he will then grow up and be seen from the front.

Naji died on August 29, 1987, victim of an assassination. Naji lives on through Handala.

During the trip to Kitakami, Mei becomes best friends and develops feelings for Kieran. At this point in the story, Mei is in the top 20 most powerful students to ever attend Naranja Academy, and the second strongest trainer currently at the school (just behind Nemona).

Kitakami Related Trivia:

Mei has more interest in Fezendipidy than for Ogrepon

She doesn't lie to Kieran, and fights with Carmine often about whether or not he's privy to the truth

Mei knows of the story of "The Boy from the Pecha Berry" before coming to Kitakami, so finding out that it's at least somewhat true furthers her friendship with Kieran

She left offerings of berries and a handmade blanket in Ogerpon's den when first visiting with Kieran. Making blankets is how she keeps up her sewing skills.

Mei tried to lose several times to Kieran before he threatened to stop being friends if she didn't "fight for real". Despite winning in the end, Mei still tried to give Ogerpon to Kieran; which he refused.

The only reason Mei agrees to go to Blueberry Academy for the exchange program is to see her bestest friend in the whole wide world; Kieran! However to say she's a bit surprised by his attitude and wardrobe change is a rather large understatement. But by now, she's decided that they'll get married when they're both adults, so she's determined to get to the bottom of things! ... and catch some more cute Pokemon.

Blueberry Related Trivia!

Because Sylveon was her starter, Mei never received one from Naranja. So Popplio, now Primarina, is her first starter.

She tried to back out of joining the BB League, not wanting to step on Kieran's toes, but inevitably she was dragged into it.

Spectrier was actually with Mei for far longer than just during Blueberry Academy, but it wasn't until then that she officially caught the pokemon.

Trivia:

Mei has a hard time standing still, so when she’s battling she bounces on her feet from side to side. If it’s a battle for fun, her stance is relaxed and almost looks like a little dance. However, if it’s a serious battle, she switches to a kickboxing stance, still bouncing on her feet.

She learned kickboxing after being sexually assaulted by an old neighbor

When “standing still” she’ll shift her weight from foot to foot. The only way to stop her from moving is through hugs and cuddles

Her Sylveon is as old as she is

The reason Mei wears white, pink, and blue is to emulate the “copy + paste” fashion style twins often use, but with Sylveon

She is a crybaby

Mei has more interest in Fezendipidy than for Ogrepon

She’s less of a “gotta catch’em all” trainer and more of a “gotta make’em happy” trainer. (She only catches Pokemon that want to come with her)

Mei doesn’t like arguments; any problem can be solved with either a discussion or a Pokemon battle. Until it can't. And then it's solved with fists.

She's primarily a fairy-type trainer

Mei has gotten in quite a bit of trouble for modifying her uniform, but she says, "it's totally worth being in detention until [she] graduates".
