could you write something about Feyd and Rabban competing for reader's affection?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a dream scenario... at least until you actually partake in it. None of Harkonnen brothers is willing to give up and they both are able to almost everything to gain advantage.
(By the way, in this scenario they both fell for you, but it would be possible that one seduces you just to piss off the other; it would be more likely that Feyd tries to win over Rabban's crush just to assert his dominance. Or perhaps Rabban tries to take Feyd's partner to get a revenge for Arrakis and also to at least this time not be the second, worse brother)
They are both rather straightforward but still their methods are a bit different.
Feyd would be more subtle and strategic. He would observe and listen to you to find out what you like and to know more about you. All these informations help him to give you things you may like or to randomly mention some facts you told him to prove that he cares. He doesn't hide his intention to seduce you but he's more subtle in his approach. He tries to use his charm and sweet words to convince you to him. He also invites you to watch his fights because he also wants to impress you with his fighting skill (and he would be happy if you enjoyed the murder as much as him). Feyd is likely to send servants to observe you and tell him what you're doing, whom you're meeting and what you're talking about (as i said, he has yandere tendencies). If there's a need, he will try to manipulate you into a relationship.
Not saying that Feyd's methods are much better but Rabban is more honest. Or simply not concerned with subtlety nor formalities. He tries to impress you by showing his strength and bragging about his power. He spoils you with gifts, not necessarily connected with your interests, he rather chooses things representing luxury and wealth he can give you. He may get a bit touchy - nothing too far but Rabban often puts his hand around your waist or on your thigh or he randomly lifts you up to show his strength (i am sorry, me and my friends sometimes lift each other for fun but now i imagined that considering size difference with Rabban it may look like that scene from lion king and it's too funny. I may draw it one day). He also wants to suggest that he can make you happy but uhhh idk if talking about his previous romances (with all intimate details) is a good way to do it.
Their rivalry goes on behind your back as well and it's even more ruthless. They threaten each other both with violence and blackmailing, there's also perhaps a few physical fights.
At one hand, they both often make sure that you aren't alone with the other. At the other hand, you can't spend time with them both at once because of the tension. They try to stay calm and make good impression but sooner or later (usually sooner) there starts a little squabble. They start mentioning each other failures or embarassing memories. After some time Rabban can't control himself and starts yelling, meanwhile Feyd-Rautha looks coldly at him as if he barely holded himself back from murdering Glossu.
By the way, of course Baron would quickly notice this competition but he wouldn’t interfere as long as the situation isn't out of control and as long as brothers' fight for your feelings doesn't disrupts his plans. Moreover, he may even use this occasion to turn them against each other even more and manipulate, perhaps promising help in winning your affection.
No matter which one you choose, the other one is P I S S E D. Probably they won't try again after you rejected them and hurt their pride (unless...?). Rabban will just be bitter and angry seeing you with his brother, he may start avoiding you or lash out when you meet. Feyd-Rautha on the other hand will just claim that you have bad taste and it's your loss, but he still becomes cold and distant. He may plot a way to take a revenge on you.
Also, you can't choose both. Both are pretty possesive and wouldn't share you, especially with each other. And if you don't want any of them? You are fucked. They reconcile temporarily just to get a revenge on you for rejecting them.

Imagine Yaoshi x Reader x Nanook. With how they act in lores and how there is not much canon information about the personalities + encounters or interactions yet. My brain already has so much ideas about what's gonna happen if we put them both together :)
pairing: nanook x gn!reader x yaoshi (general relationship hcs)
word count: 785
warnings: possible spoilers for hsr !! involves xianzhou stuff iykyk
a/n: it's the way that i knew this would be a request- also this got long i apologize HAHSHSHH
Tumblr media
First off, congrats. I have no idea how you managed to coerce these two into sharing because the last thing either wanted was to share something with the other.
Compromise is absolutely fundamental in this relationship. Yaoshi and Nanook are Aeons whose ideologies are in direct conflict, and you'll have to act as their middle ground. Arguments aren't common (they both believe that they're above such petty disputes), but in the beginning of the relationship, the tension was undeniable.
Nanook firmly believes that civilization was a mistake, and neither Yaoshi nor you can change that. Yaoshi can pout and give Nanook the look all they want, but nothing is stopping Nanook from bringing planet after planet down.
Likewise, Yaoshi's gifts of immortality, along with their side effects of mara, tend to irk Nanook, only furthering their belief that destruction was the only salvation left for the universe (Yaoshi would continue to assert that the mara wasn't their fault).
But when you come into the picture, you force them to put their differences aside - because if there's one thing that the two of them can agree on, it's you. If it's for you, they're willing to push aside their ongoing war with one another. If it's you, they'll ignore the fact that they openly hated the other.
Yaoshi thought that such a cold being as Nanook wasn't deserving of a partner such as you. Nanook didn't love or embrace you like Yaoshi did, didn't cradle and pamper you like the Abundance.
As a result, Yaoshi loved to remind them of their negligence, although now, it's more of a playful jest if anything. They'd whine about how Nanook was barely home, despite Yaoshi constantly being on the run themselves, and the fact that as Aeons, they don't have a set "home".
For the most part, Nanook was unbothered by Yaoshi's remarks, with the most coming out of them being a roll of the eyes. They didn't care how their affection may have come across, the only thing mattering to them was that you were safe and happy.
The two of them used to fight over you all the time - Nanook would often snatch you right off of Yaoshi's lap, and Yaoshi would refuse to hand you over. But soon, they learned to tolerate the other's existence, and eventually that tolerance would turn into a begrudging adoration.
In this relationship, Yaoshi is inertly more affectionate (and possessive) than Nanook is. Nanook isn't... They're not exactly in tune with desires of any kind, much less the kind that comes with a romantic relationship. Yaoshi, on the other hand, is an empathetic soul who loves and sympathizes with creatures from all walks of life.
Yaoshi coddles you, and makes sure that not only are you loved, but that you feel loved. They are gentle and tender with you, often playing with your hands or hair, and pressing kisses wherever they can. They sing you praises to their Disciples and the Denizens, who adore you just as much as their Aeon.
On the other hand, Nanook's "love", if you could even call it that, comes in the form of protection. The Antimatter Legion, when they're not wreaking havoc upon other planets, become your personal bodyguards. Yaoshi in particular takes advantage of this, often using the Legion to fend off any Xianzhou ships looking to hunt them down.
But this isn't to say that Nanook doesn't have their moments. When they manage to pry you away from Yaoshi's arms, Nanook likes to hold you as they go about their business. You'd be laying in their arms, pressed against their chest as you watch the destruction of a planet as you would a movie. Rarely are any words said in these moments, but they are just as intimate as Yaoshi's affections.
The universe knows you as the Mediator, the tamer of the two most hated Aeons in the universe. Being the significant other of not one, but two Aeons certainly comes with its benefits - and that being that practically nothing can touch you. There are some who feel pity for you, others who envy you.
But there are also those such as the Aeon Xipe who are grateful for your existence, for you are responsible for keeping Yaoshi and Nanook in check. In Xipe's eyes, if such opposing Aeons as Yaoshi and Nanook can work in tandem, then there is hope for a unified universe.
All in all, this relationship can only work if each member puts forth the effort to make it work. It's rocky in the beginning, even more so than others, and requires so much more patience. But if you can manage to pull through, the rewards are sweeter than any fruit.

NSFW Alphabet - Pablo Gavi
Tumblr media
authors note : sorry for being MIA y'all, sooo, to apologise for it here is a full fic. (my first ever full fic might I add) hope you all enjoy it !!
nsfw under the cut
a = aftercare ( what is he like after sex )
As much as I would like to say he's extremely sweet and caring and puts you first, he's a teenage boy. He is aware that some bit of aftercare is always need it and does the bare minimum but he isn't mature enough to realise HOW important aftercare is . I can see him getting up to throw away the condom and on his way back he'd bring you a towel and wipe you down while kissing your knee. Maybe he'd go to the kitchen and grab some water for the both of you and after that he'd get into bed and cuddle you to bed but that's about it. He still has more to learn but I see him willing to in the future.
b = body part ( what's his favourite body part on him and his partner)
on him, it's definitely his defined abdomen. he knows girls dig it and he definitely gets cocky about it. not to mention he's proud to brag about it from all his intense hours of training. he also loves it when you kiss his abs and will constantly tease you about it. sometimes, when he knows you're watching a game, he will intentionally raise his shirt to wipe some sweat of his forehead when actually he's just showing off his abs.
on you, he's definitely a tits guy. as most teenagers he is absolutely obsessed with boobs. yes, he likes ass and thighs as well but he isn't mature yet to fully appreciate them yet. so , tits it is. he absolutely adores it when you wear a more fitted top that shows cleavage or one of those short silk dresses that hug your breasts perfectly. not to mention he loves to see them bounce when you ride him or when he fucks you into the mattress . you always have hickeys, marks and bites all over them and you always scold him for it but he just shrugs and keeps doing it.
c = cum ( anything to do with cum )
coming inside of you is a huge no. he isn't a fan of becoming a teen dad so he always uses extra safe condoms even if you are on the pill. maybe sometimes he'll pull out, get rid of the condom and spill over your tits but that's about it. he isn't taking any chances.
d = dirty secret ( one of his dirty secrets )
he has a password protected album on his phone full of pictures and videos of you. either ones you sent him when he was away, dressed only in lingerie or nothing at all or some he took of you.his favourite video is one he took of you while you sucked him off. he's always extremely careful to not show his face in any of the videos and besides the two of you no one knows about the album. he doesn't want that piece of information to fall into the wrong hands.
e = experience ( how experienced is he )
ok so listen very carefully. if you aren't aware of it already, Spanish boys are ones of Europes biggest play boys ever. fact. they learn to flirt before learning to walk. I don't get why all fanfic writers portray Gavi as some dumb and unexperienced teenager as if he isn't a horny 18 years old. not to mention that yeah sure, he seems sweet and shy but for gods sake, he's the youngest player for FC Barcelona. He's also the youngest World Cup scorer in the world. He's good , he's hot an he knows it. he definitely isn't some scared little virgin. Sure, there is space to learn and improve but he knows what he's doing and he absolutely knows how to make you feel good.
f = favourite position ( his favourite position to have sex )
cowgirl. he adores it when you ride. mostly because he can play with your tits but also because it doesn't require to much force from seeing as his legs are tired most of the time from practice. this way he can just relax while you set a pace enjoyable for both of you. oh but god forbid you want to tease him , he will immediately grab your hips and start thrusting up into you or flip you around and pound you into the mattress.
g = goofy ( is he goofy or serious during sex ? )
I can see him as both actually. if he's angry or stressed out or just in the mood for a rough fuck, be sure he'll fuck you into the next day without as much as a smirk on his lips. but , mostly in the morning, he's a sucker for soft sex where he leans in to kiss you passionately and then pull back giggling while looking in your eyes, a huge boyish grin on his face.
h = hair ( how well groomed he is and if the carpet matches the drapes)
he's definitely taking care of that area. he shaves when needed and keeps things nice and trimmed down there. not completely bare but definitely tidied.
i = intimacy ( how is he during the moment )
it definitely depends on his mood, Pablo can play both ways. his short temper is definitely a fan of rough , fast and intense sex, loving the powerful feeling of a quick fuck but again, he's a sucker for soft and intimate sex. as all teenagers he will never admit it but he craves that deeper connections and just loves to be held and softly caressed. on of his favourite positions for soft sex is spooning. in the morning he'll just slip right in and gently fuck you awake while hugging you close to his chest.
j = jack off (masturbation headcanon )
he's a teenage boy. he'll rub one out 24/7 . if he has you in reach, he will definitely fuck you instead of his fist but if he's away for a game, wakes up alone in the bed or has some extra time in the shower he'll definitely give himself a little release. his favourite way so to say to jack off is when he's away for game and that's when that little photo/video album will come in handy, a video or candid photo of you always doing the trick for a quick release.
k = kink ( one or more of their kinks )
this might sound a bit weird for him seeing as he is still young but he loves to dominate you. on the field , he's always the youngest and people love to kick him around, and that sometimes can make him feel powerless. so, in result to that, he loves to feel powerful in the bedroom. he adores when you listen to him and is always willing to praise you up to the heavens for it . but also, he gets a kick out of you being bratty. he's obsessed with putting you back in your place.
l = location ( favourite place to have sex )
his house. literally any place in his house. bedroom, kitchen counter, bathroom, couch etc. it's his own little safe place and he loves to fuck you there. he also likes it that it's risk free. he isn't a big fan of getting caught while his dick is down your throat or his fingers buried in your cunt.
m = motivation ( what gets him going )
anything. literally anything. something as innocent as putting lip gloss on or smelling your perfume. this boy will get turned on by anything. his favourite how ever is when you give him those eye. for instance, if he's across the room talking to someone and meets your sultry eyes, he's done for.
n = no ( something he wouldn't do )
coming inside of you. he doesn't care if you're on birth control, he isn't taking any chances. he's down to coming on your ass or tits, even your stomach but he for sure doesn't want to risk getting you pregnant. it's too much of a risk for him.
o = oral ( preferences on oral ? does he enjoy more giving or receiving ?)
i don't know what y'all are on but Gavi, like most teenage boys, definitely prefers receiving over giving. he's down to give head and his ego explodes each time you praise him. however, he definitely gets a bigger kick out of seeing you on your knees for him, looking up with glassy eyes while his hand is tangled in your hair.
p = pace ( what's his pace ?)
Gavi fucks like he plays, fast, rough and passionate. His fiery temper fuels him to go all the way out. Don't get me wrong, he loves a good session of love making in the early mornings, when he's tired or when he's in a romantic mood but most of the time he fucks. hard.
q = quickie ( what's his opinions on quickies )
he's a sucker for quickies as long as they are safe. it means he's totally down to quickly fuck you before going out or have quick session in the shower but he isn't a huge fan of fucking in risky places like club bathrooms. he's way too scared someone might recognise him and he doesn't want to ruin his reputation just cause his downstairs friend can't wait 5 minutes.
r = risk ( is he a risk taker , is he up for new things )
once again, he's down for everything besides breeding as long as it's in the security of his bedroom.
s = stamina ( how many rounds can he go for ? what's his stamina like )
for anyone who hasn't see Gavi playing, this man is constantly running from one end of the field to another. If he gets knocked down , almost instantly he's back up. this man's stamina is incredible. not to mention the endless intensive training hours. he definitely can go for a few rounds one after the other. perks of being a high performance athlete. (danny ric)
t = toys ( does he own any toys ? does he like using them on you )
he himself hasn't purchased any toys but he's down to teasing you with your vibrator. that is until he gets bored and fucks you into the mattress. he is however thinking about buying some ties or maybe handcuffs just so he can tie you up with something other than his black tie.
u = unfair ( how unfair is he ? does he like to tease you )
i don't care what any of you say about this, Pablo is one of the biggest teases on this planet. He absolutely adores to tease you and reducing you to a begging mess. wether he's innocently caressing you during dinner or denying your orgasm for the third time this night, he will tease you for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
v = volume ( how loud is he ? how loud does he want his partner to be ?)
gavi himself isn't too loud in the bedroom. mostly grunts and groans and maybe the occasional whimper when he lets you tease him before he gets agitated and pounds you into the next week. however, he thrives of hearing you moan and whine under him. it's music to his ears. the more you whimper the more his ego grows and his hips snap faster against yours.
w = wildcard ( random handcanon)
[ as mentioned earlier, gavi prefers receiving over giving. oh but when he gives, he isn't playing]
pablos lips were busy sucking marks onto your inner thighs while you whine for him to move them to your pussy.
“come on princesa, you know whining isn’t gonna get you what you want. tell me what you really want and i’ll give it to you,” he says, biting your thigh softly before soothing it with his tongue.
“pablo please,” you continue to whine, trying to wiggle your hips but he just pins them down. “please what, bebe?”
“i want your tongue,” you whine. “and where do you want my tongue?” he asks, continuing to mark up your inner thighs as he kissed his way up your body.
“here?” he asks, kissing your stomach up to your tits where he’d leave a few more hickeys. “or here?” he continues as he sucks on your nipple.
“pablo,” you whine. “come on bebe, just tell me where you want my tongue,” gavi coos at you.
“my pussy! please, i need your tongue in my pussy!” you finally let out and he moves his head back down between your thighs.
“now was that so hard?” he asks before diving into your pussy, eating it like a starved man, bringing you to as many orgasms as you wanted.
the next day, as you’re getting ready, you finally notice all of the purple marks he left on your skin.
“pablo!” you yell at him and he runs into the room, worried that something had happened.
“what’s wrong corazon?” gavi asks as he saw the glare on your face. “what’s wrong? look at me! i look like i got attacked by leeches!” you exclaim, pointing at all the marks on your neck, chest and thighs while he just had a smug look on his face.
“you look so pretty covered in my marks though,” he grins. “in fact…” he starts as he moves behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you back against his chest.
“why don’t i give you some more?”
x = x-ray ( let's see what's going on underneath those clothes )
listen, if he was anything out of this world we would have known by now from those football jersey's close ups but he's doing more than fine. i see him more on the lengthier side rather than thickness.
y = yearning ( how high is their sex drive ?)
through the roof. this man would fuck you every breathing second if he could.
z = zzz ( how fast does he fall asleep after sex ?)
if he's tired and all cuddled up besides you, he's out like light. but in other cases he's up for a little bit of pillow talk before dozing off.

My thoughts on Chaggie/ Charlie x Vaggie
Before we begin, no this isn't a "I hate chaggie post" and no I will not be hating on those who ship it either. Rather this is just my thoughts on chaggie at the moment.
So, I'm just gonna say it, Chaggie is my OTP. Not because it is perfection, but because it's in my opinion one of the most interesting relationship canon/noncanon, I love both the characters in the relationship, and any moment of intimacy (not just kisses and such but any intimacy that reads as romantic) is cute. And with that I want to talk about the relationship so far.
Now I've been seeing people say their relationship is toxic or unhealthy, and to that I say...that's a bit strong. Let me explain. So because hazbin is kinda speedrunning it's plot (which I understand bc limitations on episodes and seasons green lit) we don't get to deeply know all the characters and specifics on why they make certain choices and how they ended up the way they did so we have to rely on the broad and limited information provided in each episode.
Based on the 6 episodes released, we can tell Charlie is very optimistic, to a fault at times, passionate, a go getter with some direction, very empathetic, ablivious at times, and ultimanty wants to be a leader but lacks the confidence and authority (despite begin a princess bc we love the royal that doesn't know how to rule troupe, genuinely) to be one.
Vaggie on the other hand, is like Charlie, very kind, but isn't as willing to put faith in a person till they've proven they deserve it, protective, loyal, good intended, not very trusting, lacks confidence, and dependent on Charlie.
Now when you put these two together, while the two do help eachother supplement what the other lacks, whether through reassurance, doing what the other can't or doesn't want to do, or giving the other what they need at the moment, even if that isn't them, it's clear who relies more on the other. After it's revealed how Vaggie and Charlie met, it really reframes Vaggie's character. No longer is she just a slightly insecure girlfriend who just wants to make sure her partner is happy and is being supportive and good enough to her, she's now a character who has bad identity issues. I mean can you blame her?! Her whole life disappeared in an instance and started all over when Charlie found her. I imagine they haven't really been apart since then except for a couple hours maybe, but never for days or longer. And being with someone for so long especially in an unfamiliar place, of course you become attached to them. Add Charlie basically saving Vaggie's life, there's an imbalance there. A feeling of indebtedness even if Charlie never said Vaggie owed her bc wow that would be way out of character.
Now as I mentioned before, Charlie is a bit ablivious to certain things, she's especially ablivious to how vaggie feels and what she's going through. Now that's not entirely her fault, she didn't know Vaggie was an angel and that Vaggie may feel indebted to her for saving her life, but also it's clear Charlie doesn't understand social cues and again, because of her trust in Vaggie, she'd assume Vaggie would tell her anything that was wrong or bothering her since the contrary just isn't something established in there relationship. And if Vaggie didn't want to talk about something she'd say it, not lie. Like in all honesty I think Charlie won't be upset by Vaggie being an angel, but rather hiding it. Now it may sound like alot to ask of Vaggie, but again, Charlie is under the impression that Vaggie would be explicit about what to talk and not talk about. Also Charlie may be hurt because she may feel like Vaggie doesn't trust her enough or think she wouldn't accept her. So I get both sides.
So to me there relationship feels like any relationship, complicated. The relationship Itself isn't unhealthy, but some of the actions of the two involved aren't healthy or the best. Don't think I forgot about Charlie being pushy at times, I understand why she does it, but combine it with her abliviousness it's not so great. I definitely think Charlie and Vaggie can bounce back and maybe the two can have a moment together that helps the two be better together and separate. Which brings me to another thing I'd like to talk about.
My hope for Chaggie in the future is this. In the next episode, the two give eachother space, and they hangout with people in the hotel. I like the idea of Vaggie, Husk, and or Angel hanging out. Charlie and Lucifer or Charlie, Sir Pentious, Husk, or Angel spending time with her. Then half way or 3 quarters through the episode Vaggie and Charlie have a moment together after talking and hangingout with the others, talk about it/maybe apologize, make up, and have there first kiss in the show (other gestures like their foreheads touching or noses touching or a combination of gestures work as well). Then of course setting up for the 8th episode.
Another thought I had, is also the two trying to act as if nothing happened, they continue with there plans with the hotel, then when everyone notices the obvious tension, while they want to prepare for the extermination, they also want to figureout/help Vaggie and Charlie get through what ever happened. Then I imagine they either try doing the exercises and such Charlie plans but secretly use it as a way to help Charlie and Vaggie, in the end Vaggie or Charlie blow up. Shit goes down and then they make up. Or it's still not working so they try getting the two away from eachother by saying they need help with stuff, talking to them, then the two make up. Or one last one I swear, Vaggie or Charlie say to take a break from this. Everyone does, Charlie and Vaggie talk or argue. Walk different ways, Vaggie stays at the hotel and Charlie leaves the hotel. After the two end up figuring shit out, I like to think Charlie got into some shit, Vaggie saves her, they talk as they deal with the trouble Charlie's in, make up, and have an intimate moment.
Now the last thing I wat to say is kinda related but not, so if you came just for Chaggie you can leave. Anyways, with the current state of chaggie (especially with the lack of typical romantic intimacy) I noticed people shipping Charlie x Emily. And while yes I see it, personally I don't ship it just because they've only met in episode 6, they're too similar, and in my opinion, I like them as friends. With that being said, I do like them together so long as Charlie is still with Vaggie. Like I just love Charlie and Vaggie together so much, I don't want them to split. So either I'd have them as a throuple, or Charlie is dating them both but Emily and Vaggie are just friends. Either one is a pretty interesting shipping dynamic and great for fanfiction. Also just to clarify, I'm not hating on Emily x Charlie, it's just not one I'm strong about. So if you like it, more power to you. And you know what, I'll probably still look at content of it anyways cause even if it isn't my fav it's still cute.
Uh anyways, I hope you enjoyed my word vomit and thoughts? Idk how to end this...uh goodbye!

same person who said teehee(batfam related again xx)
so anyway!!!
you also mentioned that Selina likes y/n, and I seriously need a small drabble w their interactions! I bet that's why y/n likes cats so much! cause she was hanging out with Selina or with Selina in almost all her patrols hihihi
I hope you enjoy this anon. I just made them into HC, I hope you don't mind. Though if you aren't satisfied with it feel free to send another ask. 😊
Selina meets y/n when she takes the role of Batgirl. It's an average night for Gotham. Stealing jewels and whatever catches Selina's eyes. Then there's a little squabble with Batman.
She puts down her bag of stolen goods to fight. She is so focused on fighting with Batman that she almost doesn't notice the figure taking her bag and starts trifling though it. They take whatever they're looking for and place it back to where it belongs.
Batman and Selina are fighting while Batgirl! y/n is trying to put everything back to the way it was.
Oh, no there's some broken glass! Batgirl! y/n goes to the janitor's closet to grab a broom and sweeps up the glass. She might have pulled out the mop if she didn't notice an opening for her to strike.
The kick to the back didn't hurt Selina in the slightest, it just caught her off guard. Though Batgirl! y/n acts like she just stabbed Selina.
Blabbering about how she's sorry and hoped that it didn't hurt too much. But Selina fondly remembers how Batgirl! y/n admitted that she thought her cat ears looked cute.
After that they'll have little interactions every so often.
Maybe if they have a fight or something Selina will say, "You don't want to get hurt do you, Kitty?" Then young Batgirl! y/n smiles. Slightly puffs out her chest, "I'm no Kitty. I'm a Chickadee, that's what my Mama called me." Selina then just calls her Chickadee after that.
Young y/n finds out about Selina's real identity when at a Gala. She's probably goofing off with Tim or just sitting alone bored when she hears a familiar voice call her Chickadee.
She thinks it's a big secret knowing who Catwoman really is. Doesn't tell Bruce or even Tim even though they knew long before her. Thinks she hot shit with this information and believes she's just best friends with Selina than the other two. No, y/n you aren't supposed to befriend the criminals!
Honestly a few villains might hear about the little nickname y/n was giving and mock her. "What are you going to do about it, Chickadee?" She always pouts a little before saying, "You aren't allowed to call me that!"
If there was a big fight going on, Batgirl! y/n was severely injured Selina would jump in. Depending on how bad the injury is she'll either defend y/n from anymore harm or just kidnap her.
y/n wakes up in a cozy bed with some cats laying around her. She's convinced she's found haven. Spends the rest of the night with Selina as she introduces y/n to all her cats.
They just have a little soft spot for each.
y/n wants hugs. She's a touch starved goblin, but she's too scared to ask. Though if she just asked Selina, she'd gladly give her as many as she wanted.
At the start y/n isn't given too much "freedom" during patrols. She's still young, inexperienced, and not to mention she can be a bit innocent. Though when she has a few years under her belt, I could see Bruce begrudgingly letting her patrol on her own.
This isn't where the family neglect starts, so Bruce is pretty connected to her. Not to mention that Jason was probably still in the back of his mind.
I couldn't really see y/n being one to skip patrol duty. Too much of a goody-two-shoes to really do that. Though I could see Selina coming by to play around and distract her from her duty.
Selina could be doing this from boredom or wanting to see the girl relax. A kid shouldn't be so serious. They should be growing up and being care free. She'd also like for y/n to grow up and not become so brooding like her father. Though thankfully y/n is willing to entertain Selina from time to time.
If things are calm, they might sit in alleyways to pet stray cats while chatting. Their conversations are nothing serious and quiet mindless honesty, but it's nice.
They can both just take a breath and bask in the cuteness of the alley cats.

warnings: blood, injury & gore typical to SotL; manipulation & mind games

I thought about writing this as I was reading Silence of the Lambs — I imagined questioning Loki & having a similar dynamic with him during his temporary imprisonment. There aren’t any explicit references to SoL in here, but I wanted to include it as a fandom tag because Hannibal & Clarice’s dynamic really inspired this fic.
This is not canon compliant, and there will likely be some discrepancies. Just pretend this is an alternate timeline. :>
The title of this fic is from I’m Your Man by Mitski. The lyrics “I’ll meet judgment by the hounds… People always gave me love… Others were never to blame after all… You believe me like a god, I’ll betray you like a man” felt pretty relevant to this fic.
The reader is racially ambiguous, gender is ambiguous, and pronouns aren't used. warnings: canon-typical violence and gore (typical to SotL)
thanks anna (@pinocchiospissrock) for the beta! (any remaining mistakes are mine.) luv u and so excited to see u soon!!!! <333

If you told your younger self that your criminal investigative work would’ve earned you a conversation with the legendary Nick Fury, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., your younger self would have laughed. The mere thought would be preposterous. Fury is the face of the entire organization, and the founder of the Avengers! What would a mere FBI agent like yourself do to even earn a moment with him, let alone a full conversation?
Apparently, you’re becoming somewhat renowned for your investigative work. You’ve always avoided the press—otherwise you would have noticed your name cropping up in cases with big profiles in the public eye. You would’ve noticed that you were slowly starting to get more and more credit for your accomplishments; you would’ve been able to connect the dots between Nick Fury—desperate for information and willing to do anything to get it—and you—an FBI agent rising in the ranks for important work with the Behavioral Analysis Unit and Jack Crawford.
Despite these recognitions, however, you can’t quite believe that you’re being flown to the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in New York City to speak with Nick Fury. Truly, this feels like some kind of fever dream. As you’re escorted through the high-level security installments on the ground floor of the building, you can’t shake the feeling that you’re not meant to be here. This must be some kind of mistake, you’re thinking to yourself, even as you’re given a visitor ID badge. You’re led into a glass elevator that rises to the twentieth floor, through a cold stone hall and even more security installments. Eventually, you come face-to-face with a nondescript wooden door. The security guard knocks on the door and opens it for you, revealing a clean and modern space with black leather furniture and an array of windows (bulletproof and likely very durable) overlooking the street below. There is a figure seated at the grand desk in the center of the room. Nick Fury looks up at the sudden disturbance, his brown eye immediately assessing your form before moving to the guard in the doorway. He nods and the guard steps out of the room, closing the door behind them.
“Agent, have a seat,” Fury offers. It’s an order, not a simple statement. You comply immediately and Fury raises an eyebrow. For a long moment, tension settles in the air as Nick Fury unsubtly scrutinizes you. Fury puts a contemplative hand on his chin and stares at you. Despite the eye patch covering his left eye, his menacing gaze is enough to send a shiver down your spine.
“I’m sure you’re wondering why you’re here,” Fury remarks vaguely. You nod. “I need you to do something for me.” You raise an eyebrow. When he continues, any confidence you gained from the notion of him requesting something of you promptly fades from existence. He tells you about a god with a penchant for mischief that borders on cruelty—about a devastating attack on New York City that left thousands injured and hundreds dead. You had heard about the attack on the news, but you had too much going on to truly process what you were seeing. Fury tells you that this trickster, a Norse god by the name of Loki, is currently in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most secure containment. It’s clear S.H.I.E.L.D. is desperate for information, otherwise they wouldn’t be bringing you in for something like this—this is far above your pay grade. Norse gods were never mentioned in your training at Quantico.
“Loki has been largely uncooperative,” Fury continues, immune to the emotional whiplash you’re currently experiencing. “We needed to try a different approach.” He looks at you after that. “Can you do this?” You take a slow breath in. Do you really have a choice?
“Yes, sir,” you respond. Fury regards you for another second, before evidently deciding that your answer is satisfactory. He then hands you a device, which appears to be a pass that allows you entrance into the high-security cells. It’s an effective dismissal. You take it and murmur a word of thanks, before stepping out of the room. With the security guard’s guidance, you’re able to learn the location of the high-security prison and you take another elevator ride. When the doors ding, a giant metronome sounds off in your head. You can’t go back now, you think to yourself as you cross the threshold of the elevator and step towards the reinforced metal door with a fingerprint and retinal scanner. You glance at the guard, who nods and urges you to continue. Somehow, in the brief time that you spoke with Fury, your information is registered in the system and your name appears on screen after it scans your finger. You then lean down and allow the machine to scan your retina, before a blue light flashes once. You frown at the door, before seeing a screen flashing on the left side. You push the pad to the screen and the door clicks, swinging open ominously.
You take a step forward and leave the door open, expecting for the guard to follow you. They shoot you a disbelieving look and take a step backwards, letting the door fall shut. You’re left alone in a hallway reminiscent of a steel prison. As you slowly walk down the narrow path between iron bars, you feel hard gazes boring into your very skin. Someone jeers at you. You keep walking until you reach the solitary cell at the end of the hall. For the first time since entering the space, you allow yourself to look up—only to look into the glimmering green eyes of Loki Laufeyson.
Safe to say, Fury neglected to mention that Loki would be the single most intimidating individual you’ve ever had the misfortune and displeasure to meet. Staring at him through the thick walls of glass, you’re suffocated with a sudden, intense dread. Even if Fury hadn’t given you any background on him, you’re sure you still would’ve been able to surmise this man’s maleficence and cruelty. He has long dark hair, sharp features, and a positively malevolent grin on his face.
“Hello,” you murmur guardedly. The thick walls of glass aren’t enough to ensure you of your safety—that attentive gaze cuts straight through your skin and sinks deep into the bone. The god raises an eyebrow at you, pausing for a moment to allow you the opportunity to turn tail and run away. You very nearly take the gifted opportunity, before you remember that information on the invasion could save lives.
“Are you lost?” Loki asks, regarding you with as much respect as someone regards a pebble beneath their feet. Your hands are ever so slightly trembling from your sides and you stuff your hands in your pockets, suddenly feeling the need to keep yourself occupied.
“No,” You eventually reply. You decide to introduce yourself, before raising your eyebrows at the god in return. You resist the urge to ask him to introduce himself. You know who he is, and you would likely end up insulting him with the question anyway. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to be very careful around him. The slightest word or provocation would lose the information for good. Why are you being called in for this, again?
“What could possibly have possessed Fury to send a mere agent such as yourself to speak with me?” The god questions, echoing your very own thoughts. You take a deep breath and try to steel your nerves.
“I’m a criminal investigator,” you respond, once your tongue is no longer ironed to the roof of your mouth. “I’ve spent most of my life studying how criminal types think and what motivates them. I want to ask you a few questions.”
“Interesting,” Loki hums. He doesn’t seem the least bit intrigued; rather, he appears incredibly bored. “And you think this Midgardian experience is enough to grant you a conversation with me? You know nothing of who I am and what I am capable of.”
You want to be surprised, but you expected something along those lines. A brief white-hot fury overtakes you as you remember the tension in Fury’s shoulders, the withdrawn tone in his voice, how he seemed to expect you to fail. Everyone is expecting you to fail. “I know enough,” you respond, before you can contemplate the consequences of doing so.  In truth, Fury had given you Loki’s file earlier. He also left you with a few words of warning. You manage to tear yourself away from your conversation with Fury and focus on what you viewed in Loki’s file. The information comes to mind within seconds. “You caused quite the scene in Germany. I suspect that was the intention.” There is no acknowledgement that he’s even listening to you, save for the intense gaze that seems to be dissecting you for his own amusement.
The words slip from your tongue before you can stop them. “You’re the adopted son of Odin and Frigga, and the brother of Thor. Your real father is Laufey, the Frost Giant King. You’re the God of Mischief. And you’re a constant thorn in the side of the Avengers and Nick Fury.”
“Those are just the facts,” you conclude. You’re met with nothing but silence. There’s an undercurrent of expectation in the air, as if he’s waiting for you to continue. You grit your teeth. Somehow, you have his attention now. It would be best if you didn’t lose it. “As for my first impressions… You’re manipulative, obviously. Cunning and clever. Selfish, extremely controlling. You derive pleasure from other people’s pain. You enjoy being the chessmaster—manipulating your pawns and discarding them the moment they’ve fulfilled their purpose.”
“Beneath all that, you’re frighteningly human. Jealousy, envy, a visceral desire for Odin’s approval, and a thirst for power… You delight in your darkest urges and scorn any of the ones that come close to resembling even a hint of genuine emotion.”
“Now will you answer my questions?” You finish.
Loki’s head is down now. His shoulders are shaking and for a second, you think he’s crying. Then he raises his head, revealing a twisted grin on his face. “No one has possessed the courage to talk to me in such a manner in millenia,” the god remarks, his hands clasped behind his back. He takes a step forward and inspects you through the glass. You remember your fear from earlier. “Who are you, exactly?”
“I’ve already told you,” you answer. You’ve done this song and dance before, and you have enough experience to know nothing good comes from giving a criminal your name. In the few rare instances in which it seemed that they simply wouldn’t give in, you would give a fake name. You’re not foolish enough to try that with the God of Mischief, though. “Besides, that doesn’t matter. I’m here for information.” You repeat for what feels like the umpteenth time.
“Oh, I’m well aware,” Loki says, studying you with scrutiny. Your skin crawls. Everything about this feels like a horrible idea. Not for the first time, you question why you were called in for this assignment. “I’m not allowed visitors otherwise—on account of the last one being found in his home with his throat slit.” There’s another flash of amusement in his eyes.
“Fun,” you remark flatly. Your heart is racing out of your chest, but you know not to show your apprehension. Fear is Loki’s game. “Seriously, though. I assume you want to get out of here in the next millennium.” You remark.
“Au contraire,” Loki replies. It takes you a few seconds to process what he says, and several more seconds to recall the translation: ‘On the contrary.’ You wait patiently for the god to continue.  “You don’t really think I’ll be released, do you? And don’t bother pretending otherwise—you don’t have the power or authority to make promises here.”
“I’m not sure why you’re entertaining conversation with me in the first place, then,” you reason. You feel lost in this conversation, admittedly. It’s taking an unhealthy amount of mental energy to keep yourself afloat in these verbal traps.
“Maybe I’m bored,” Loki drawls. In the fluorescent lighting beaming down on him, he looks every bit as royal as he is rumored to be. “Maybe I’m waiting for you to let your guard down, for your mental defenses to fade away and corrode into nothingness before my control slips into your psyche, forcing you to be a spectator as I pilot your body and mind.”
You stare at him for a moment, heart hammering away in your chest. Somehow, it’s that sentiment that cements the reality of the situation. You’re not qualified enough for whatever the hell this is. You’ve interrogated loads of criminals before, but they’ve never posed a legitimate physical and mental threat to you in the same manner that Loki does. You find yourself genuinely fearing for your safety as you stare at Loki’s glittering green eyes.
As your heart races and you take a few steps backwards, you catch a sudden blur in your peripheral vision, before you’re struck with white-hot pain that flares up the left side of your face. You blink dazedly and bring a hand up to your left cheek, only to find blood splattered across your skin. There’s a jagged fragment resting on the floor near your foot—evidently the cause of the wound. You turn to the left, only to find the man from before clutching at the bars of his cell with ferocity—a crazed look in his eyes as he stares at you. Your gaze then falls to the porcelain toilet in the corner of his cell, with a notable chunk missing. That must’ve been where he got the shard. The side of your face is burning, hot blood trickling down your cheek. You press the back of your hand to the wound in a futile attempt to stop the bleeding. Unsurprisingly, the wound doesn’t magically heal or stop bleeding. You grimace and set off down the hallway, intending to leave and find a first-aid kit. Just as your palm flattens on the door, Loki says your name.
You pause, your cheek stinging. You feel Loki’s gaze at your back and you know you probably don’t have the luxury to continue walking away. Yet… you can’t bear to turn around. You open the door and walk away, unaware of the furious expression on Loki’s face. The security guard’s eyebrows climb up their face as they see the blood trickling down your face, but you simply hand them the keypad and walk away.
You have nothing in lieu of information and a fresh, jagged cut on your cheek. You don’t expect to be called to the high-security cells again any time soon—not after that complete and utter failure. You leave S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters that day with a bandage on your cheek and wounded pride. The conversation with Loki keeps you up that night in your hotel room, as you turn over every statement in your head. There’s a notable disconnect between Loki’s words and his actions. Furthermore, if he’s truly so powerful, then why is he still contained? You know S.H.I.E.L.D. is well-equipped to handle villains, but Loki is a Norse god. Surely he could snap his fingers and transport himself somewhere else? If that’s the case, you can’t help but wonder why he hasn’t escaped yet.
You avoid work the next few days to fully recover from the physical and mental injuries acquired that day. It’s nice to have some free time, but it is still somewhat dampened by the knowledge that you didn’t get any information from Loki. Fury is going to be, well, furious.
Safe to say, you don’t expect to see Nick Fury on your doorstep one morning, a troubled expression on his face. You greet him and try to invite him in, but he remains outside. His dissecting gaze flits about your face, searching for something. “It’s been an interesting day, Agent,” he evidently decides to say.
“How so?” You ask. Fury glances to his left and right, before taking a small step forward and leaning closer.
“A prisoner in the high security area was murdered,” he murmurs, “He was found in his cell. It seems he was fed his own tongue before he choked and suffocated to death. Miggs. Awful guy, but… we had intended on getting more information from him.” Fury shakes his head. Meanwhile, you’re reeling. There’s no way the prisoner that was murdered was the same one who assaulted you earlier. That would be a truly troubling occurrence—one you’re not quite sure you could put down to coincidence.
“Anyway…  I need you to speak with Loki again.” Fury continues, his expression serious. He raises an eyebrow upon seeing the slight shock that must be showing on your face. “You seem surprised.”
You nod. “I was under the impression that our conversation didn’t go well,” you decide to respond honestly. Fury seems to appreciate the truthfulness, although his eyebrows furrow and he takes a deep breath.
There’s a beat of silence. “He’s refused to speak with anyone else we’ve sent,” Fury explains, “Since your last visit, he’s been exceptionally…Well. He asked for you specifically.”
What was Fury going to say just then? And, more importantly, did you even hear him correctly? Did Loki really ask to speak with you, even after the tense conversation you had? You’re immediately suspicious.
“Listen,” Fury breaks off, looking conflicted and resolved all at once. “For whatever reason, he’s different with you. I’m not sure why, but whatever the reason, we need to take advantage. Loki has valuable information about the attack on New York.”
“In reality, he asked for you a few days ago,” Fury continues, after a few moments of uncomfortable silence. You look over to him in surprise. “I refused. But… since then, he’s been extremely disagreeable—and we’re running out of time.”
“I’ll try to speak with him,” you answer. That’s the best you can promise. You certainly can’t promise that it’ll be a productive conversation, or that you’ll get any information from him. Indeed, the last discussion you had with Loki, it felt as if you were disclosing more information than he was. Still, the prospect seems to be good enough for Fury.
“Thank you, Agent,” he nods, returning the keycard that grants access to the high security area. You take a deep breath and follow him back to his car, steeling your nerves as the city buildings pass before your vision. Once you reach the headquarters, you walk down the halls and head to the elevators. Fury and you part ways as he gets off the elevator, and he leaves you with a brief nod.
It only takes a few steps in the hallway of the high-security cells for you to notice that something’s missing. A cell is empty—the same one that Miggs had occupied before. You feel dread coiling in your chest, yet you can’t stop yourself from taking a step closer and getting a better look at the empty cell. There’s blood splattered all across the ground—although it appears as if someone tried to clean it, since it bears a closer resemblance to dark brown than red. The sheets of the mattress are clean and the cell looks entirely untouched, save for the stains across the floor and the noticeable chunk missing from the toilet.
Your attention is captured by the cell—so much so that you forget your company. “Ah, what a pleasant surprise,” Loki remarks, sending your heart racing as you remember his presence. You take a deep breath and tear your eyes away from the evidence of Miggs’s death. As you break the distance between Loki’s enclosure and you, you can’t help but shake the feeling that he had something to do with the death of Miggs. You don’t have any proof, but the awful feeling stirring in your gut certainly makes you question what you thought you knew.
Loki clears his throat pointedly and you remember yourself. “You asked for me,” you then answer cautiously.
“Yes, but I wasn’t sure if Fury would oblige,” Loki drawls, regarding you with mild amusement. You’re not sure what he thinks is entertaining, so you just pretend not to have noticed his smug grin. “He doesn’t seem to care for me much.”
“I’d argue most of us don’t,” you hear yourself blurt out. You really need a better filter, especially in a conversation as important as this one. If you want information from Loki, you’ll have to be nicer to him. Despite that thought, Loki is staring at you with the same amusement as before. There’s no sense that the insult even registered.
“And yourself?” The god asks, once again reminding you that you’re the one at the mercy of the conversation. You grit your teeth and try to remain calm, despite the overwhelming feelings of inadequacy that threaten to send you down the hall.
“What about me?” You raise an eyebrow.
“You said most of us,” Loki says, “Does that include you?”
You don’t bother to dignify that question with a response. “What do you want?” He doesn’t respond and you resist the urge to exhibit any signs of your growing impatience. “You asked to speak with me—I’m assuming you want something.”
“I have information you want,” Loki states, his eyes boring into yours and sending a prickling sensation down your skin. His intense gaze is unnerving, and you feel as if you’re being intensely scrutinized. “You have information I want. I propose a trade.”
You’re not surprised by the remark, save for the idea that you have something he wants. “I’m not quite sure what information I could give you,” you frown, shifting your balance slightly to keep your body occupied. You cross your arms over your chest and pretend you don’t feel entirely vulnerable in front of Loki.
“I’ll be the one to determine that,” the god says. His next statement is entirely unexpected. “Now, tell me about yourself, your childhood.”
“What?” You choke out. “About myself? I don’t see how that’s relevant.” You break off. Loki’s gaze is focused on you with burning intensity. You take a shuddering breath in and try to summon some information that isn’t dangerous for you to disclose. “I’m a criminal investigator—have been for years. I’m from around here, grew up here.” You end up settling for a mix of ambiguity and omission. Loki seems to pick up on it regardless.
“Don’t lie to me.” His gaze is dark and dangerous. It suddenly feels as if the temperature dropped in the space around you. You’re pinned under the god’s watchful eyes. “I think I deserve more than that, don’t you?” You can’t find the words to answer. You have, once again, severely underestimated Loki’s capabilities.
“Very well, then,” Loki murmurs some time later, after it’s clear that you’re unwilling to give him more information. His posture is effortlessly casual, but you know it’s just a façade. “I can start for you. You worked as a criminal investigator for years in your hometown, until you decided to become an FBI agent. With more responsibility came more criminals, and closer calls. Even so, you began to gain notoriety for your cases. Your name appears in more and more press coverage. Meanwhile, Nick Fury grows increasingly frustrated with me, with the lack of information. He sees you on the morning news and finds his perfect solution. He calls you here to New York, tells you that he needs you for this pivotal role. An exaggeration, of course.”
“You agree with his offer—surely, you don’t have any other choice. Meanwhile, Fury promptly forgets your existence, until he needs you once more. A tool in a toolbox is all you are to him. Why else would he send you to me? He doesn’t have faith in your abilities, Agent—he just needs bait.”
You know it’s true, but it still hurts. Truthfully, you had suspected the same thing; something about the Norse god speaking on your thoughts cements them in reality. Indeed, why else would Fury have called you in? There are plenty of high-ranking officials that would’ve been better suited for such a task.
“You come in here and provoke me,” Loki continues, as if you aren’t even there. He seems entirely in his element as he paces about his cell. “I attack you, then break out of captivity. A group of agents lurks outside to interrupt my eventual escape. The whole thing is laughably predictable, really.” Your eyes widen as you realize just why the security guard lingered outside the door. They aren’t guarding the door—it’s secure enough on its own. They’re guarding you, waiting for you to fail and for Loki to escape. The thought sends a shiver down your spine.
“And, of course, you have a visceral desire for Fury’s approval,” he continues, repeating what you said to him mere days ago. You feel as if a bucket of ice cold water was just dumped all over you, making you shiver and question everything you thought you knew. Are you really so formulaic? Have you been lured into a false sense of confidence these past few years? You try to grapple with these questions, while the god stares at you. “Am I ‘in the ballpark,’ as you mortals say?” There’s a sharp grin on Loki’s face that deeply unsettles you.
It takes you several moments to collect your composure and find the words to say. “I think you know you are,” you respond, ignoring your heart pounding out of your chest. It’s unnerving that Loki could glean that much about you in such a short time span. Despite his obvious attempt at mockery, you know that you need to answer his questions if you want information. You keep silent and wait for Loki to continue.
“Now, you still haven’t given me anything,” Loki reminds you, dispelling any hope that he may have forgotten. You feel extremely restless and steadily avoid his gaze, even when you feel his eyes practically tearing holes through your form. “So, I ask once more: what was your childhood like?”
You can’t afford to argue this time—not if you want information. The glint in Loki’s eyes grows brighter with each tidbit you give him. At his request, you tell him about your past—everything from your childhood home to the relationships you have with your family. Time becomes fickle and you don’t realize you’re oversharing until you glance down at your watch and see that far too much time has passed.  “That’s more than enough,” you interject some time later. You don’t feel as if you can truly grasp the severity of your actions just now. Even so, you know that you’ve given him too much ammunition. You pinch the bridge of your nose, feeling a headache developing. “It’s your turn.”
“Very well,” Loki responds, his lips parting to reveal a crooked smirk. The expression on his face confirms your suspicions that he was planning on continuing the conversation until you stopped him. “I will answer two of your questions.” You feel your heart drop.
“Two?”  You exclaim in disbelief, “You must’ve asked me a hundred just now-”
“I didn’t force you to answer any of my questions,” Loki reasons. Unfortunately, he’s correct in that regard—you should’ve been more wary. You let your guard down and he was content to take advantage of it. “Now, do you want information or not?”
You grit your teeth. Damn it. Two questions is a very insignificant number. You try to remember what Fury told you mere minutes before. “He’s been extremely disagreeable… and we’re running out of time.” You can’t afford to slip up here.
“Fine,” you say. The look on Loki’s face doesn’t change, but you can still sense arrogance radiating off of him. “Why?” You decide to ask.
“You’ll have to be more specific,” Loki drawls, continuing to pace about. He looks completely and utterly bored. “Why does one do anything?” You resist an eye roll.
“Why did you do it?” You rephrase. You don’t need to specify for Loki to understand what you’re referring to: the attack on New York, the Chitauri invasion. Surely, knowing his motivations would help S.H.I.E.L.D. prevent instances like it from happening in the future. Besides, you’re not sure what else to ask. As has been established, you don’t think you’re the best fit for this task of vital importance.
“I was seeking revenge,” Loki answers without hesitation. His unblinking gaze is beginning to unnerve you. “Is that what you’d like me to say?”
“I’d like you to tell the truth,” you assert, unable to hide some of your irritation. The god picks up on it and smiles infuriatingly, as if your annoyance is entertaining. Perhaps it is entertaining to him. You take a deep breath and remind yourself to keep calm. It would do you no good to get riled up. You have one job: collecting information.
“The truth,” Loki remarks languidly, tearing you from your thoughts. His answer comes without hesitation. “I was bored.” Boredom. Boredom pushed him to wreak havoc on the city, causing hundreds of casualties and inordinate bloodshed. Loki was motivated by a lack of fulfillment. The thought is extremely disconcerting. On the one hand, you’re not sure what you were expecting. On the other, you had been looking for a more clearcut, legitimate reason to contextualize his actions. You weren’t planning on excusing his crimes, but if he provided something that seemed to somewhat justify his reaction, you would’ve been able to get more information and also deduce a clear motive to these kinds of attacks. Perhaps that was your error in thinking, though: Loki can’t be a predictor of a pattern. He is wildly unpredictable, and trying to predict him will both waste your time and only result in more frustration.
“One more question,” Loki reminds you tauntingly. You grit your teeth, pushing past your irritation. The god seems to enjoy emphasizing the differences between you and him—your mortality, your weakness.
You try to think a little harder. Admittedly, a particular question has been weighing on your mind throughout most of your interactions, burrowing into your subconscious and refusing to let go. After a few moments, you decide to verbalize it. “Why haven’t you escaped yet?”
The god laughs. “Haven’t I?” Loki asks in response. A shiver rolls down your spine. You watch warily as he takes one step forward, then another. From what you’ve seen, the god will often pace about his cell. However, his current movements make it seem as if he has a purpose, an endgame. Loki’s eyes flash. He takes another step forward and his foot crosses the threshold where the glass is supposed to be. Loki grins and crosses the entirety of the boundary, before looking at you with a truly malicious smile. He’s free from captivity.
You can’t even take a step backwards before the god is there , extending a hand to your temple and pressing his fingertips past your skin, into your very being. And suddenly, you’re a child again. Everything you told Loki is rushing through your head all at once. You’re trapped in vivid memories. The world around you is blurred with childlike joy and hope. Your surroundings all seem to fall away; despite your knowledge that you aren’t a child anymore, you can’t escape this onslaught of memory that Loki seemed to force on you.
When Loki removes his hand from your temple, you nearly choke on your breath. There’s an excruciating pain running through your head—strong enough to make you lose your balance. Despite the fact that you’re horribly outmatched, you still try to get away from him. You’re not sure what the God of Mischief wants, but you doubt it’s anything good. This interest—as Fury said—that he’s cultivated in you… It’s dangerous.
You should be dead right now. Surely, were you any other S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, your corpse would be slowly decaying on the ground in front of you. You heard whispers of what Loki did to some of the agents that spoke to him before you. One of them was directly admitted to a mental hospital—unable to ground themself in reality. The thought shakes you to your core.
You take another step backwards, only for him to match your retreat with a step forward. Your balance is growing more and more unsteady as you try to fight against the vertigo threatening to send you tumbling. Your vision is oscillating between painful sharpness and indiscernible blurriness. “What do you want from me?” You manage to spit out through the pained haze.
“Everything.” Loki answers. Before you can push him away, he’s bringing a hand to your temple again. Your mind explodes with energy and you feel your eyelids fluttering shut of their own accord. You try your hardest to remain conscious and you manage to catch glimpses: Loki’s hand slipping from your temple as you fall to the ground. Loki carrying you out of the building. You’re stuck in the recesses of your own mind, with no hope for escape. Eventually, you’re forced to succumb to the darkness lurking in the corners of your vision.
Tumblr media
It may strike you all as strange that Loki stays in captivity rather than escaping, but I think I can justify that with a multitude of reasons. First of all, he's immortal—time passes differently for him. While a mortal may agonize at the thought of being trapped in a capsule for an indefinite time, Loki is entirely unbothered by it. He knows that he has the ability to escape; the question then becomes when he will escape, not if he will escape. Second, Loki has a reason to stay: the reader. He is interested in the reader [the nature of this interest is up to you]. He enjoys the conversations they have, especially when they’re under the false guise of him being trapped and in a position of need. The God of Mischief isn’t one to rush things. Anyway, that’s how I justified these choices to myself. *shrugs*
I desperately wanted to add something like this, but I couldn’t find an authentic moment for it… It may seem a little out of character, too… So I’ll throw it here and walk away:
“You should put some ointment on that,” Loki suggests, looking pointedly at the scar on your face. “Don’t Midgardians care about that sort of thing? Quite foolish, in my opinion.” “How is that foolish?” You ask. “Scars are proof of conquest,” Loki responds. “Of course,” you sigh.

Can you write “don't give up, it's a little complicated” with Bishop? 💖
Tumblr media
"It's a little complicated." You tell Bishop that night as the two of you sit at the kitchen table. He sighs as he taps the ash off his cigarette into the ashtray that one of the kids made for him during summer school. Its sky blue and wonky with yellow stars painted on but he treasures the fucking thing.
"It's not that complicated." He informs you. "You go out in the middle of the night and help people coming over the wall."
Your head snaps up towards him and he gives you a look.
"Come on sweetheart." He says stubbing out his cigerette. "You think Riz can keep his mouth shut about something like that?"
"How long have you known?" You ask him, your fingertips tapping out a rhythm on the surface of the table.
"A while." He admits. "After what happened with Mari, I wanted to know more about you. How you had the connections to help her."
He leans forward on his elbows.
"The point is you don't have to lie to me anymore about what you do when you go out on those nights."
"You aren't going to try and stop me?" You query.
That's been your main fear, that Bishop will try and stop you from doing what matters to you.
Bishop laughs as he reaches out and takes your hand.
"I think I would have better luck trying to stop the sun from shining in the sky than preventing you from helping people in need." He tells you, his thumb ghosting over the line of your knuckles. "I actually have someone, someone that I think may be a good for the work you're doing. Her name is Rosa, she used to 'freelance'." He says the word pointedly so you catch his drift. "The M.C have used her alot in the past but her and Nestor are settling, she's putting down roots in Santo Padre, retiring from the life. I think the work you do would be good for her and I think she'll be good for you in terms of protection." He pauses for a minute, giving you a little time to process his words. "I know the Reed Coalition have been baring their teeth lately and I just want you to be safe and I think Rosa can help with that."
It's endearing in a way, your grizzled soldier looking out for you. Bishop is trying everything he can to not be overbearing, to provide a solution to a very realistic fear he has because he's right, the Reed Coalition have been becoming more aggressive and it is getting a lot more dangerous out by the wall. Having a mercenary on your side, someone whose seen action and can combat that would be invaluable.
"I'll need to meet her." You tell him.
He squeezes your hand tightly and you can see how much this means to him, that you're willing to make this concession.
"I'll set it up."

୨ ୧  :  how would you be as an idol ?  pac
Tumblr media
pile one pile two
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pile three pile four
Tumblr media
᧔♡᧓ : pile one
As an idol, you'd be a bit different from other idols. You'd have this unique way of doing things and a unique style. You might be a solo idol or you could be your own boss/manager as an idol. You understand that being an idol takes hard work and are willing to put in the work to get what you want/need as an idol. Because of how unique you are, you would get tons of fans once you put in all the work. I'm hearing that you'd get quite a bit of money as well. You would continue to be yourself and keep independent but still not be a cold person, which your fans would like about you. You would have tons of fans who are as dedicated to you as you are to your career. You probably would have a side-job. You need to find balance being an idol and yourself away from being an idol. You don't share much personal information with your fans and you don't back down on what's important to you, even if you're pressured by others. You probably wouldn't try to keep up with trends. You'd be your own boss and allow freedom but you would have to sacrifice some things to reach your dreams as an idol.
Tumblr media
᧔♡᧓ : pile two
As an idol, you would treat your achievements like smaller than they really are. There's tons of money involved and your career would take of quickly but you'd be stuck comparing yourself to other idols. You probably would be in a group and would be the one making decisions on what's fair or not. Definitely could be the group's main leader or manager. You'd be known as that one confident member. Possibly like one of those kpop idol rappers who always has the best solo verses (like the rap in nude by g-idle). If you're thinking about writing lyrics but something is missing, learning new words for vocabulary would absolutely enhance your writing. Your group could be a small group of tightly knit friends. I'm getting that there isn't an insane amount of members but that makes you more memorable because the fans have less people to remember. The group has such good harmony and sounds perfect together but you're focused on the small imperfections. Looking at the small mistakes and imperfections could make the rest of the idols in the group upset and cause conflicts, so before getting into a group (if you aren't already) work on your perfectionism.
Tumblr media
᧔♡᧓ : pile three
I'm getting that you're a fast learner. You could have been starting late to idol training but you still caught up just as fast or faster than the other idols. This is a new income and a new experience for you. You could have/ might quit your job to become a full-time idol. You're extremely harsh on yourself to catch up, when in reality you would catch up just as fast if you were more gentle on your self-discipline. You decided to just take a dive into this, regardless of what others want for you. This is a fresh new start for you and a way to release all that creative energy you've been storing. You might feel isolated even if you are in a group and like you're standing alone. It's possible that you could have been meant to be in one group but ended up in another group last minute and feel like you don't belong. As an idol, you're remaining authentic to who you are but also controlling yourself. You're overcoming your fears of stage fright or humiliation and learning that nobody cares as much about your slip-ups as you do. Eventually, all of your mistakes will be forgotten and you don't need to worry about getting canceled over something silly. You forget you still have fans that will stay with you even if you fail to do something or embarrass yourself and those fans will stand with you.
Tumblr media
᧔♡᧓ : pile four
As an idol, you'd be like the young childlike bubbly one of the group. The type of idol people make "being cute and silly" compilations of. Your fans are die-hard and wanna keep you safe and protected. It's like jungkook vibes (not saying that cuz I'm a stan btw 😶 I barely listen to kpop). It's like chuu and jungkook mixed together and you were created. You have the choice to be living in luxury and make all this money without doing work (possible inheritance) but you would have chosen to be an idol instead because that's your true dream (if it actually is). Your main concern as an idol should be avoiding being/seeming fake. You don't have to pretend to be all cutesy, just show the cute side of you and your real cute aspects. Don't pretend you have a different personality than you do, just show off the good parts of your real personality. If you pretend to be something you're not, once you get tired and rest, people will notice that you weren't who you said you were. You being an idol would be something you planned for and would do long term. I feel like this pile in particular truly wants to be an idol. The only thing stopping you from being an idol is you limiting yourself.

Just a snippet that got written in response to me thinking about how androids aren't affected by stinking environment while humans are, and how this difference can become really obvious if given the circumstances, like such in which Hank and Connor got to a gruesome crime scene.
Not long after just stepping in, Hank escaped back to the front entrance.
"Jusus fuck..," he mumbled stepping outside.
"What's the matter?" Connor called from the corridor, "Did you see something?"
"No," human said, breathing in the air.
"Are you going to stand outside or what? Should I wait for you?"
Hank cursed under his breath, stretched his shirt above his nose and went back inside. Connor started forward without waiting for him catching up. When they got to the living room with the body plastered in one of the corners, android finally spared him a glance.
"You look ridiculous," he commented, "I just thought you'd appreciate me telling you."
Hank opened his mouth to say something in response, perhaps to be snarky about it, but as he tried, the stench entered his system once again and he started coughing violently as a result.
Connor frowned in confusion but said nothing, deriving his attention to the body instead – the source of this absolutely murderous reek. He walked ahead and coached down looking it up and down.
"Fuck, this place makes me wanna vomit," Hank muttered and folded trying to stop himself from coughing again, looking around in search of a window or something to open just to see all the windows within reach sealed with planks. He groaned feeling his eyes water.
"It doesn't even look that bad, I'm sure you've seen worse," Connor said lifting something from the ground next to the body.
"Hey, hands! We don't want your fingertips imprinted into the evidence."
Connor turned around and spared him a long glance. Wordlessly he tilted his head and slightly raised his eyebrows.
"What, you mean you don't have any?"
Instead of answering Connor put the object down, then raised his hands in a defeated gesture with palms facing Hank and retracted the skin from them, leaving his hands white with dim blue light shining through the seams in-between phalanges of his fingers.
"Come look yourself if you don't believe me," he said.
Hank scoffed and decided to ignore him, choosing instead to look around the room for maybe less stinking pieces of information. The smell didn't exactly fade out nor stopped bothering him, but not stepping any closer to the source of it, Hank almost managed to gaslight himself into believing it's not that bad, that he adjusted. Or that he will, soon.
He looked at the shelves filled with unopened collectables – figurines embodying different anime characters, mostly young-looking girls with short skirts and unnatural hair-color. Hank wouldn't be able to name any, not like he really cared about anime at any point of his life. In fact, he found the topic weirdly repulsive -- the same kind of repulsive he used to think about androids too. Too polished, too removed from anything having to do with reality of thing, so "perfect" to the point of becoming its own kind of gross, created solely for the goal of appealing to those willing to pay for it. People like that one person, whose dead body was now lying on the floor and filling the room with the kind of reek Hank could still almost taste on his mouth.
God damn it.
Finally he noticed that among the boxes with anime characters there are occasional boxes with some biocomponents. Long numerical sequences printed on the side of identical white boxes, indicating different content. Why couldn't CyberLife just name them like something you can actually read and make sense of? Hank thought grimly and instantly thought about probable answer himself.
Yeah, of course, that's so that common folk wouldn't try fixing them things on their own without 'professional' assistance.
"Hey, Connor," Hank called and turned around just in time to see the android moving his two fingers in the direction of his mouth, covered with -- undoubtedly -- human blood from a week and a half dead body. Connor lifted his head at his name and their eyes met. Without breaking established eye contact android didn't stop, but, in fact, finished his started action with his tongue coming in contact with the substance on his fingers.
Nope, that's it.
Hank's insides turned at the sight, and combined with mind-boggling awareness of the smell so intense in the air to the point of being practically tasted, inevitable happened -- and previously devoured for lunch turkey sandwich started to search its way up for an emergency evacuation.
---
When Connor ripped one of the planks from the window and reached for the handle to open it, the expression on his face was hard to decipher. On the surface it expressed nothing. In practice it was the expression that meant the most amount of conflict happening beneath.
"You could have said something earlier about the smell, if it really bothered you so much."
"You could have given me a fucking warning," Hank covered his mouth and frowned for a moment as the memory alone threatened to evoke a second wave of reaction from his growling stomach, "Jesus fuck..."
"Wait, was it about me?" Connor stopped from ripping out another plank and turned.
"You and your fucking-" Hank trailed off into another gag, "Oh god..."
To Hank's surprise, android smirked. He shook his head, and then -- Hank was probably high on whatever psychodelic properties the stench might have had on him -- he chuckled.
"You think it's funny," Hank said. It wasn't as much a question as it was a statement.
"If you could see yourself, you'd understand. Wait, I'll send you a picture."
Hank's phone pulsed in his pocket. For the first time he wished he could delete a message without opening it.

Some in the Bridgerton fandom will paint Kate as being in an abusive family, paint Edwina and Mary (even Lady Danbury at times) as these villainous people who make her life miserable just to make Anthony and his family the "better choice". Like, ignoring how this trope of "villainous poc family causing the poc female character to run away into arms of a white family" is so terrible it also makes no sense when in reference to these characters themselves. Let's start with the Sharmas: we have Kate who is the daughter of a man who remarried and had a child of their own. Now, from that alone people just outright use this as a way to paint Mary in a bad light, making up the most outlandish things, when Mary admits very adamantly that she always viewed Kate as her daughter and has/will always love her. Why do you think she was so outraged by Kate being willing to accept the deal given by the Sheffields?
Now, on to Edwina. Some will hang that "half-sister" line over her head but won't give the same action to Anthony, or heck, even Kate (though she doesn't deserve hate like Anthony more so criticism for some parts). Now the line was wrong, for sure, but that doesn't mean Edwina wasn't in her right. Here we have a young girl who lost her father, is aware of her family's social and economic status, and is informed from the beginning that her finding a suitable match will either tip or support the balance of her family's lives. Edwina is literally entered into the show searching for a husband to help support her family, that's first, romance came second. So enter Anthony who, infront of her, is so charming and kind and even though him and her sister are fighting at times he still seeks her out. He's wealthy and promises to provide for her family, something that she wants. Only to find out that none of it was real, or at least, real towards her and that she was hurt in the process (by this I refer to the Sheffields ordeal and Anthony's whole attitude and his lack of respect for her). Like that's messed up and anyone would be upset over it, forgive a woman (more so a young woman in Edwina's case) expressing their feelings. Some of you want her to be Kate's cheerleader 24/7, and it shows. And Edwina was always ready to comfort Kate, from her (Kate) being detached from the world (during her wedding) to her supporting her (Kate) and Anthony being together, so let's not go on and say the Bridgertons would be better.
Now, on to the main family themselves, what we see of the Bridgertons in s2 isn't even that positive when you really think about it. From the beginning, when Anthony is looking for a wife with the most horrible standards, Violet, who notes that her son isn't looking for marriage for the right reasons and instead of trying to talk to him about it, instantly goes and states she's disappointed by his outlook and fears he won't be happy, confused as to why he's this way. BECAUSE YOU PLACED THAT WEIGHT ON HIM. Like I understand losing her husband was terrible, it was, but to then put all that pressure and weight on to your eldest and then become surprised when it starts affecting him in ways you don't like, while taking hardly any time to actually talk about his feelings, is laughable (couldn't think of a better word). Like whenever Anthony is around with valid points, she looks exasperated at times. And the other Bridgertons aren't better from Daphne literally pitying him (even tho she knew about his feelings for Kate and could have eased the situation instead of letting it go on) to Bennedict laughing at him at every turn to the siblings joking about the situation he put them in (which they themselves could have prevented but didn't & aren't affected as severely by like the Sharmas), it makes no sense how people would view them as better than the Sharmas.
Now on to Kate and how this view affects her. One big reason being is the fact that it ignores her insecurities, only paints them in a different light. Kate didn't view herself as Mary's daughter because her father had been with someone before he met Mary, long after she was born. She didn't think Mary would love her as a daughter and is surprised when she finds out that she actually does. Kate accepts the Sheffields deal because it will help Edwina, because she (Kate) understands their social and economic status and is willing to leave the only family she has just for them to be secure and happy. That's the reason she has turmoil, not because her family hates her and is abusing her! Like where did that thought even come from? Kate has issues of not expressing her feelings, bottling them up and trying to handle things herself until it blows over, that's it. And when she does express them, do you know who actively seeks to reassure her? Her mother and sister. They don't make jokes or make the environment able to express these emotions nonexistent (like the Bridgertons with Anthony), they try to help her because they love her.
Honestly, the Sharmas deserve so much better because if it isn't the show doing them dirty than it's the fandom.
[Quick edit because people were taking some things out of context, by sneaking behind her (Edwina) back, I was referring to the whole Sheffield incident because, when it's revealed, it literally put her, and her sister and mother, in an awkward position and makes her and her family look like bad people, especially in front of the Bridgertons. I reworded my original post and added context, and admit I could have worded it better, but for those who saw it as me immediately trashing Kate's character, I will state here that was nowhere near the intent and never was, sorry for the slip up]

Sweet S/O gets a cruel punishment

[ ONE-SHOT ] [ Hajime Hinata ] [ Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair ]
⚠️ This contain a little bit of spoilers
Tumblr media
This was requested by @sleepyone2three, thank you for requesting it!! The version of the other characters requested you can find it in the masterlist
I'm sorry if you don't like that i I resorted to using the despair disease to explain what happened, but is the most logic way i thought it could happen, and also i loved the idea of that disease!!
I have a love-hate For Hajime and still I really like writing for him!
Tumblr media
The supposed trip to the island isn't easy for Hajime, it seems like he is the only one who seem to be wary of everything that is happening, and when Monokuma appeared and confirm that this little trip isn't really innocent and becomes a killing game just make it worst
However, as much as he hate it he is glad that you are here with him, having you by his side make him feel a little more comfortable and make things more bearable for him having by his side someone he knows he can trust, it doesn't really matter if you aren't wary of the place or your classmates. Also your calm and sweet personality always manage to calm him down and reasure him, even if is just a little Hajime is grateful to have you by his side
Although Monokuma isn't planning to put it easy for anyone, he has already a lot of tricks and incentives planned and he doesn't care how much time it takes him because he has pleny of time, besides this time Monokuma has more information about every single one and he is planning to use it against everyone, he is planning to make everyone fall into despair once again
Your kind and sweet nature atract the others attention in a really positive way, and since most of the students are rather positive it isn't too difficult for them to quickly win hope with the right lead, unfortunately friendship isn't enough to get away from Monokuma's plan
Everyone started motivated to don't let Monokuma win neither to fall into despair but from the first trial everyone started to get more wary, if isn't of the others it were from all the island, as well of Monokuma and Monomi, Hajime being the most worried and wary of everything since the start, he started to get more clingy with you for being afraid of something happen to you (specially because Nagito was willing to kill someone just in order to start the game). It get to a point were Hajime feels uneasy to just being far from you for a long time because he fears that something happened to you and because you are the one who help him stay calm and collected
With every trial that pass things get more and more difficult, not just the killing game but also Monokuma talking about the mysterious Future Fundation, or making things worst by saying that there is a traidor and since people starting to think that it may be Hajime since he still doesn't remember his talent it makes things a little more difficult for you too for staying by his side and even when he is grateful it only makes him feel more frustrated
As well the incentives get more and more difficult to avoid, from that sickness of despair disease to even the fun house is even like a miracle that everyone can keep going at this point. And with that is how this happens, you got sick with the despair disease too making your personality change, replacing your sweet and calm behavior to being rude and mean, even making fun of others, and when Hajime notice it he goes from being surprised to be incredibly worried, desperatly trying to ask you what is wrong, just recibing insults from you, but when they discover that is for a sickness he calm down but just a little, it hurt him hear you being so rude towards him but he tries to reasure himself that you don't mean it nor even think all of that in reality
He tried to keep you calm most of the time, or at least in some limit at least until Mikan is able to take care of you but now you were stubborn, swearing that you are fine and you don't need anything nor anyone, but Hajime doesn't have much patience that was your forte not his and Monokuma was planning to take advantage of that, he was just planning to mess with both of you a little, some teasing and comments to make you mad and to bother Hajime with it just to have some fun, but he didn't count on the fact that you where already pretty angry since Hajime didn't stop bothering you with wanting to help you, and he has started to feel frustrated for you attitude too, leading you to react really aggresive when he ends with what little patience you had left
Hitting him while demanding to him to stop being so annoying and just shut up, although Monokuma doesn't regret anything he is happy with this, not because he got hit but because he will be able to get away of you, someone who had been giving hope to everyone, in the other hand Hajime was panicing, rules are clear and its obvious that Monokuma won't let you get away with this
While Monokuma stand up laughing Hajime tried to make you calm down and make you understand what you have done as a desperate way of trying to find a way to help you but you weren't doing nothing aside from getting more mad a him from being so insistent and pushing him aside, even laughing at Monokuma, but it isn't like he cares anymore he just let you enjoy this little moments, taking a moment to enjoy it himself remembering you the rules, you don't care about that but before you could say something else Monokuma attacked you, making sure to injure you fataly so you will die but giving you enough time to regret what you have done and feel the sweet despair of dying
After attacking you Monokuma just go away, satisfied with what he did, and leaving a shocked Hajime behind as well, he had watched the whole thing but he was unable to do anything, even after you fall to the floor he still finds troubles to move, too shocked for what just happened in front of him. However it doesn't take long for Hajime to react, quickly running to your side and gently caressing your face, his eyes fill with tears and all of him start to stain with your blood but that's the last of their worries right now. He is desperately calling your name asking you to stay with him and don't close your eyes, he even start to beg you to don't leave him and screaming for help the moment you get weaker and colder
The problem is that even when you are almost dying the despair disease doesn't go away nor vanish, so even when Hajime was trying to help you you don't stop trying to push him away, still saying that you don't need him or even calling him annoying with what little energy you have left still see him as a bother and that is going to stuck in his mind for a long time
Hajime tries to remember you as the sweet and calm person you were, that one that always was there to comfort him and give him motivation to continue but the memory of you being so mean towards him, looking at him like his only presence bothers you hunt him, reaching the point where he thinks that he deserved to be treaten like that for being so weak that he wasn't able to even save the person he loved the most
The whole situation is really difficult for him, Hajime feel lost and guilt without you, he is continuing just because he doesn't know what else to do, Chiaki is the one who is trying to help him the most but things just get more and more difficult, with the supposed traitor still and the sudden change in Nagito's behavior and harsh words (specially towards him) he doesn't know what to do (even worst when he finds out that he doesn't has a talent)
Hajime becomes a little more harsh and he insolate himself a little, his mind is a mess because he got used to relay a lot in you for the comfort, but without you he doesn't know how to keep himself calm and collected, the two last trial will affect him even more and it would be more difficult for him to find motivation to continue fighting, but at the same time the idea of seeing you again helps him keep him going but will need the help of his friends

Hey! Name 10 of your favourite Soulsborne characters! Doesn't have to be in any particular order, unless you want it to be!
SORRY FOR DELETING THE FIRST ONE AND MAKING YOU SEND THIS AGAIN
Also putting it under the cut because goood i love to get verbose and this shit is almost infinite for how long it got
Ok so *cracks knuckles*
1- Shanalotte
My precious girl!! My beloved!!! I have actually found most fromsoft level up maidens (bar her and melina) to be actually  pretty lacking in both relevance and story so she was a nice breath of fresh air! Her lore intrigues me very much like. She was created *specifically* with the purpose of being kindling (or that's what the "created to break the curse" implies to me).
She's one of the most normal looking dragon-human hybrids but it's ALSO implied that she's internally way more fucked up and unstable than them because she was pretty much left to rot alone by aldia in the dragon aerie. She can teleport propelled by the power of a funky feather. She has an emo haircut. Her intentions might not be the kindest as they might seem as instead of lettingherself burn she cultivated SEVERAL undeads to reach the throne instead of taking the throne for herself and she ALWAYS knows what is really going but refuses to tell the Bearer of the Curse anything that aren't the barest informations.
Forever will be salty that due to executive meddling we lost the time travel plot and didn't manage to see her as a child
2-Ranni
I think one of the biggest improvements overall of elden ring's ending questlines compared to the ones in other soulsborne is that they gave us a quest from a scheming character that ACTUALLY explains you what your schemes entrail and lets you through bosses and additional questlines forge a deeper connection to the npcs and Ranni (and her questline) are the epitome of that.
Like i have soo much to say about the fact that her ending is basically the classical courtly love story with the maiden in the tower rescued by the brave knight where the tower guarded by the dragon can both be her rise who is guarded by Adula (whom fights you to death before you can go to Manus Celes and marry her) and the cave in the lake of rot which is guarded by Astel.
AND WHILE PEOPLE MISCHARACTERIZE HER AS COLD AND UNLOVING SHE IS SO FULL OF LOVE. She's yes scheming and willing to do evil acts to reach her goals but she LOVES Iji and Blaidd THEY WERE HER FAMILY BLAIDD WAS HER BROTHER EVEN IF HE WAS ENGINEERED TO BETRAY HER IF SHE WENT ASTRAY AND THEY BOTH KNEW IT BUT THEY LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH THAT BLAIDD OVERCAME FOR A WHILE HIS SHADOW'S INSTINCTS. She didn't want you to continue your services for her because she knew that iji and blaidd were doomed and didn't want you to end like them AND YET. AND YET. YOU TRAVERSED THE LAKE OF ROT FOR HER. YOU KILLED ALIENS AND GOD TO SAVE HER. SHE FIRST INTENDED TO GO AWAY WITH NO ONE FOLLOWING HER BUT YOU DECIDE TO DEPART WITH HER. NEVER LEAVING HER ALONE IN THE COLD AND EMPTY SPACE.
I am sorry for the all caps and incoherent rambling but i genuinely love ranni so much. Elden ring in general is very dear to me and her questline was one of the first ones i've ever done in a soulsborne game :3
3-Rykard
Ok i admit that while at first i only liked him for "funny snake" stuff the more i learned about him the more i liked him.
He's like Ranni in the sense that where he did commit many atrocities one of his most overlooked characteristics is how he loved.
He loved radahn so much that he had paintings of him all over his home. He loved tanith so much because he knew what he would become once fused with the snake and offered her a way out of the suffering that it might have caused her (but we know tanith didn't mind) and trusted her so much to let her lead volcano manor in his stead. He loved rennala so much that he left his own Special Torture Device around the academy to hurt whoever wanted to kill her. He loved ranni so much that he helped prepare her great plan and was willing to take the blame and challenge MALIKETH HIMSELF in order to protect her if the plan went wrong. And he loved radagon so much that him abandoning them to follow the GW literally caused him to react so badly that he decided to infiltrate it's ranks as a loyal inquisitor to destroy it from the inside in the way it would hurt the most (like burning the minor erdtree). Also he's bisexual. Miyazaki you might have removed the daedicar's woe item description but he remains bi in the heart of us rykardpilled
4-Tanith
Aside from being the canonically freakiest person in bed in the lands between the whole rykard-tanith-rya storyline makes me go RAAAAH "my greatest distress would be forgetting you" and then she goes on to ask you to unconsensually do to rya the same thing that rykard consensually asked her to do!! Because for her it's better to live a lie than to know the truth!! And the fact that this is likely caused by her feeling inadequate to be a mother (as cut dialogue shows)!!!
Also undying loyalty literally wanting to have someone live on through you by ingesting them... her obsession with rykard and what he represented preventing her to actually move on after he gets killed by the tarnished but also her love for him is one of the reasons WHY volcano manor still stands + the fact that rykard married her not out of pure lust but because he sawnin her a dignity befitting of a ruler AND HE WAS RIGHT.... Miyazaki. Martin. I love you.
5-Nashandra
Ok i might not have papers upon papers to write about her but she's one of my favourites in the sense that she hits the extremely specific archetype of extremely cunty woman who exploits manipulates others but that's because she's an eldritch abomination whose existance is extremely fragile and literally just wants To Live (the other character who fits this is Ma evilliouschronicles and she's like my fave character 5eva).
The concept of the daughters of manus is very cool and i feel like there's some significance in her sharing the "shan" in her name with shanalotte but only miyazaki knows.
I really want to know what her and vendrick's marriage looked like i KNOW they were freaky
6-Maria
MARIA MY BELOVED MARIA... I HAVE MANY THOUGHTS (TM) ABOUT HER and the main one is that to me she is like one of those protagonist from those late 19th/early 20th decadent novels but if they were a girl.
The thing that appeals to me the most about her is how much of an utter failure she was in both life and death like her arc is such a downwards spiral. I am not okay with cainhurst's hunting thecniques? Ok! Let's join the victorian equivalent of the scalp hunters from blood meridian! Oh shit oh no oh fuck i ended up committing genocide and eviscerating a pregnant god and now i am extremely traumatized well i'll try to redeem myself by joining the blood murdercult and by committing experiments based on the evisceration of said pregnant god to help advance humanity. All the experiments i led are for naught and only led to more suffering? At this point i can't handle it anymore every single good thing i did led to death and misery i'm gonna kill myself AT LEAST IN DEATH I CAN'T HARM ANYONE :) RIGHT? :) [cue her upholding the nightmare and its inhabitants suffering and then dying against the good hunter causing them to rampage through the hamlet again]
I think her biggest flaw in the end was to keep denying the fact that her actions slowly got more brutal because she wanted to think of herself as a good person until things snowballed so much that they got out of her control and couldnt do anything to prevent damage from happening. Rip my sweet angel corrado silla and alfonso nitti wouldve seen you as their long lost sister
7-Sulyvahn
HE LIVED HE SERVED CUNT HE DIED. There is something oddly poetic and horrifying about someone who came from a place designed to keep away those rejected by the gods being the responsible of the fall of the gods himself. AND YET none of this came from rightful vengeance or a sense of duty towards his fellow inhabitants of the painter. No. He didn't give a single shit about it and hated the place. He only did that because he was power hungry and skilled and had the possibility to do that.
I am also OBSESSED OBSESSED OBSESSED with the fact that it's implied that he has more than a few grievances with women and i like to think of him as a huge misogynistic creep in the way fanon gehrman is. He is so insidiously manipulative and backstabbing and needlessly cruel he is up there in the alley of my favourite nasty old men. He might or might not have had beef in the past with aldrich which led to aldrich kicking his ass earlier and weakening him enough to permit the ashen one to kill him. We love a villain whose downfall is caused by his constant backstabbing
8- Fauxefka
I know that she's very barebone as npcs go but i am soo fond of her she's my canon oc. There is soo much implied about her aside from the fact that miyazaki considers her one of the only heroic people in game like. She is from the choir (and might have stolen the umbilical cord from willem) while Iosefka who looks exactly like her is implied to have been a defector from mensis so academic beef might be one of the motives for turning her into an alien i have SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT and if you send the suspicious beggar to her house he STILL turns into a celestial emissary which means she alone was strong enough to overpower him.
Also her voice gets me sooo <3333 and add that with the fact that she was brave enough to gobble down an umbilical cord without a single thought she's a lunatic but also probably the sanest person in yharnam and i'm here for it
9- Friede
Friede is another one in the halley of pathetic women like yass girl... doom a world where you found comfort in to ruin because you are so traumatized by your first death by burning that you refuse to let it happen again despite it being a good thing so she parallels nicely with gwyn.
Another thing that i found interesting is that aside from that she is ALSO motivated by love for the inhabitants of the painting but is willingly blind to the love wilhelm and yuria had for her
Side note but i found a really good wilhelm/friede fic where mid fuck she removes his ring that prevents him from looking like a beef jerky and muses that he'd never do that because he's too loyal for her and is happy of the power she has over him and that is sooo good i'll just incorporate it in my headcanons for her
10- Gwyndolin
I already joked about him being the joker for trans men but like. The tragedy of his story makes me go insane <3 Imagine being reviled by your father for literally every single part of your being. You have your older siblings. They are your father's favourites, THE golden children. And yet one by one they leave you all alone, one being kicked out and erased from history for siding with the enemy and the other flees as she always does whenever she encounters trouble. Your father who hates you throws himself into the first flame and leaves you alone with massive abandonment and gender issues and you spend literally every single moment of your life trying to continue his legacy even to the point of living in your father's tomb. You revile him and how he treated you especially regarding your gender so you try to be independent. To throw away your old identity he forced on you and finally live as a man and a king of your own right BUT you'll always be desperate for his love and will never separate from his shadow down to the bitter end. You raise what is your sibling or niece but also instead of actually making her independent you keep her naive and sheltered, every single place of power is purely symbolic.
And then the tree guy who works as your knight and whom you might or might not be fucking fucking overthrows you imprisons you and your sisterniece in the cathedral and feeds you alive to a guy whom you sent to his death by burning ages ago to continue the cycle your father started. Life really be like that sometimes.
So... here it is! I am sorry for how long it got lmaoo

AU where Cha and Woo get their memories back the moment the rewind happened (Um shenanigans shenanigans Blame the Rulers, Last Chance things got quirky) and now they have to go get Jin-Woo before he does something stupid, aka go alone to fight the Monarchs.
Sadly he went really fast so, with the help of the Rulers (haha Jinwoo revealed Jinchul too much during that exchange. Haha Jinchul and Haein may have just accidentally crashed at Jinwoos place so that Ill Hwan can provide them with all the information about how to contact a Ruler or their envoys haha Jinwoo is screwed.) they go and create their own systems to help them level up and eventually be strong enough to help him win the war.
Yes they trust Jin-Woo to absolutely be fine after this (debated, they are, in fact, extremely worried about him but don't show it because they don't want to alert the other too much and besides Hunter Cha/ Chief Woo knew Jin-Woo the most/longest so if they aren't panicking why should they? They are so stupid fr.)
The Ruler eventually agrees to help him catch the architect and gives them a bit of their powers, however since both of them are extremely weak by... well by all standards really, they weren't national Rank and only one of them is s rank... and she is still a child— The Ruler tells them that they have to go with the help of the vessels: Liu Zhigang, Christopher Reed, Thomas Andre, Siddhart Bachchan, Jonas and
"No... I'll go for Go Gun Hee in his stead."
[... Human ... Woo Jin Chul, your body will already suffer the most from the system, do you truly think you can hold the power of the Brightest Fragment inside you?]
"I... I don't. But the Chairman... The Former Vessel isn't able to do much either, and... besides my body can take on enough damage, his is just recovering."
He doesn't want to loose him a second time.
And who knows what Jin-Woo will say when he hears Gun-Hee has joined the battle again.
The Cha Raises his hand. "I will take in half of the Brightest Fragment's power, so that way we both don't suffer any after effects."
[Hmm. What Do you say, brother?]
[... If Sung Ill Hwan was able to become as strong as one of the monarchs under our guidance, then so can the other vessels... However, The new Shadow Monarch is someone who would rather put himself above everything before sharing his burden with anyone else. He won't be easily convinced to let you all fight alongside him. And... He also asked us to protect every human here as kuch as possible, that includes you two and the vessels. Despite all that, will you still be willing to go against him and try to become strong enough to help him?]
Without a doubt, Cha Hae-In and Woo Jin-Cheol already had the answer.

Mystictober Day 12-- Text Message
Unknown glances down at his phone. In the time that it’s taken for him to gain control of the special security system, you’ve sent him a grand total of 57 messages. He's never even had to consider putting his phone on silent before, but ever since he left you in that apartment with his contact information (Why? Why did he leave it so that you could reach out to him whenever you felt like it? What was going through his head at the time to convince him that doing so would be anything remotely close to a good idea?), it's become a necessity. Now, he's seriously thinking about trying out do not disturb mode— yet another new experience, one more corner that you've backed him into. You're a strange one, that's for sure, but he knew as much before he even sent you to the apartment. Against his better judgment, Unknown wonders if you actually have something worthwhile to tell him this time, a legitimate concern or— though admittedly unlikely— an important piece of intelligence about the RFA. There's very little that Unknown doesn't know already, but maybe you’ll surprise him, after all.
MC: Hey MC: Hey MC: Hey MC: Hacker Man MC: You said you'd come get me MC: Can you step on it? MC: I hate it here!!
Ah. Okay, so no intelligence, then. The other 50 messages contain disinterested reports of conversations between the other RFA members— many of which Unknown has already scrolled through— though he might appreciate the summaries you provide of your phone conversations, were there any actual information exchanged. As far as Unknown can tell, the RFA members have gone completely feral since your introduction, and now none of them have the common sense to remember that it may not be entirely prudent to fall so hard for someone they've never even met in person. Then again, you aren't doing much better, with the kinds of messages you send to him— even if you actually believed his cover story and took the “selfie” that he sent you at face value, you still know next to nothing about the person he's pretending to be, let alone who he actually is. You may have figured out that he's a hacker, but that's hardly enough familiarity to justify the sheer quantity of messages you’ve sent, let alone their contents.
Maybe if he responds to you, you'll stop bothering him while he's working. It's a long shot, but at this point, Unknown is willing to try anything. It's not that he dislikes you— really, he doesn't have a very strong opinion either way— but you’re beginning to distract him from his task.
Unknown: Didn't I tell you to wait patiently? MC: No
You respond right away, which shouldn't surprise him as much as it does. For one thing, your chief entertainment by this point is nothing more exciting than laying on the Savior's old bed, atop the dusty, year-old sheets, scrolling on your phone and watching strangers argue about asinine nonsense such as cats and fish-shaped buns. Unknown can’t really blame you for jumping at the chance to have a more engaging conversation. For another, you've obviously developed a bit of a crush on the image of him that you've created inside your mind. That’s pathetic, Unknown thinks, but probably good for his plan— if you like him, then you’ll do as he tells you, right?
MC: You told me to enjoy my time Unknown: Okay Unknown: Then do that, prince(ss).  MC: How am I supposed to enjoy it if you won't talk to me? Unknown: Just talk to the RFA members Unknown: They like you a lot. Unknown: Don't you like them back? MC: Like like or like like like?
Unknown has to read your message five times before he figures out what you're talking about, and he’s annoyed to discover that it's just more nonsense. He doesn't care who you may or may not be crushing on, so he elects to change the subject.
Unknown: You really want me to come get you? MC: Yes please!
That was fast. He really shouldn't have been expecting anything else— after all, you obviously like him, and it's clear that you aren't particularly happy to be spending so much time with the RFA. Unknown supposes that he'd feel much the same in your position, although nothing is stopping you from at least attempting to leave the apartment— in fact, if you tried to escape, he would be forced to come collect you sooner than expected. Are you... waiting for him? That’s an exciting idea.
Unknown: Then Unknown: Show me that you can listen. Unknown: Don't text me unless I text you first Unknown: And don’t try to call me again, either.  Unknown: Can you do that for me?
Hook, line, and sinker, or so he hopes, at least. You don’t exactly have a perfect track record with following instructions.
MC: Oh MC: Okay, sure MC: And then will you come get me?
You really are a strange one, Unknown thinks. He has no idea why you like him enough to want to go with him so badly, but when he considers his options, he finds that the best one is probably to tell you the truth— after all, he’s going to bring you to Magenta eventually either way, and maybe if he makes a promise or two, he'll be able to get you back under his thumb. By now it's less about his peace and quiet and more about making sure you understand that your only tasks are to obey him and to be his eyes.
Unknown: Sure.
You don't respond. Unknown supposes that this is an indication that you've gotten the message— good. Maybe you won’t be half as much trouble as he thought.

[Part 9 incoming. I really should name this thing, other than always referring to it as the AFAB Bestie x Leon fic series. I just don't know what to name it lmao. Also the whole Friends With Benefits suggestion came outta nowhere. This thing has a life of its own, I swear! Contains spoilers for RE4R]
[Post with links to previous parts]
Leon treated you to dinner that night. Nothing fancy, but not simple fast food, either. A little dine-in experience, which was a nice change of pace from what the two of you usually had when you were together. Him paying was also different. The waitress did try to give him free dessert once she realized you weren't his girlfriend, but Leon immediately passed it over to you, much to her chagrin. She tried to slip him her number on a napkin, too, only to stare in shock as he tore it up in front of her and tossed it in the trash. He didn't even apologize. In fact, he reported her to her supervisor for making him uncomfortable. You almost felt bad for the poor waitress as Leon took you away from the restaurant at the same moment her boss started chewing her out. Almost.
Don't disrespect his friend by ignoring her or you'll find out his civility only goes so far.
It's a nice night out. Leon suggests going for that "goddamn walk" you mentioned earlier while finally opening up to him. You're grateful the streetlights aren't bright enough to give away how red you become from being reminded of that. There's a park of decent size not too far from the diner and your home, with a large pond that has a nice stone bridge that crosses over it. You've been to it many times in your life. Tonight feels different, though. There's something about it ...You just can't put your finger on it.
You walk by Leon's side, hands in the pockets of your jacket. Leon mirrors you. You notice he's not wearing his favorite jacket, the one your parents sent him for a birthday gift a couple of months ago. The brown sheepskin bomber, ridiculously expensive but well worth the cost in everyone's opinion, was missing. Leon had been wearing it every chance he had since receiving it. Why not now?
Noticing your quizzical gaze, Leon let out an awkward chuckle. "Your parents are gonna kill me."
"Why?"
"Because I lost an eighteen hundred dollar jacket in Spain," he replies.
"Wha--How do you lose a jacket in Spain?"
"Get knocked the fuck out and someone steals it while you're unconscious," he says, and it's so casual you almost dismiss it.
"Leon...I think the jacket is the least important part of what you just said. What the hell happened to you in--? Oh, right. You probably can't tell me. Classified, need to know, etcetera."
"Technically yes," he admits. "But I'll tell you, anyway, if you really want to know."
"I don't want you to get into any trouble because of me."
"I get into trouble all the time, whether I want to or not. If Uncle Sam says to jump, I'm not even supposed to ask how high. I just do what the man says." The bitterness is so strong, you can almost taste it. He takes a deep breath. "So, do you want to know about Spain?"
You hesitate for a moment before saying, "If you're willing to share, I'm happy to listen."
So it begins. He tells you all about the mission, starting with what it was in the first place. President Graham's daughter, Ashley, was kidnapped from her college campus. A cult was responsible. They received intel from an unknown source that she was taken to a rural area in Spain. He was sent there, along with two cops from the area. He and Ingrid Hunnigan, the woman assigned to help provide him with information and to send out a chopper once Ashley was found, were forced to use stupid code names. "Condor One." "Baby Eagle." "Roost." As if those weren't obvious to whom they were referring.
The officers fell victim to the villagers, who had been infected with a parasite. A Plaga. Las Plagas. Los Illuminados, the cult responsible for Ashley's abduction, was to blame. They forced everyone they came in contact with to carry Las Plagas, injecting them with an egg that would hatch and proceed to steal control of the body from the host. If you were lucky, anyway. Some people they simply killed, like the cops who brought him to the village.
Las Plagas work as a hive mind, taking orders from one dominant Plaga who controlled the cult's leader, a man named Saddler. He wanted to infect Ashley to help spread the reach of Las Plagas throughout the world, or some shit like that. He also had Leon injected with a Plaga egg, intending to unite him with the so-called holy body.
Leon tries to explain what Las Plagas look like and how they affect you. Sounds like an alien invasion, or a scene from Alien. It's eerie how much of it sounds like it came straight out of the nightmares you had while Leon was living through it. The black veins. The blood red eyes. The parasites. The fleshy tentacled monstrous abominations. There's no way you should know what these things look like, yet you can recall them so clearly, like you saw them with your own eyes.
While fighting to stay himself and to save Ashley, he encountered some familiar faces he wishes he never saw again. Ada, who apparently survived Raccoon City and was in the area for the same reason she was in RC. Major Jack Krauser, his hardass mentor when he was first forced to become a special agent, who became disillusioned by the American government after the fallout of a different mission two years ago and decided to join Los Illuminados because of it. While Ada did provide some assistance when Leon needed it and it suited her, he wasn't happy to see her, especially since she lived and had a Plaga sample with her when she made her escape, just like she did with the G-Virus years ago. As for Krauser... He couldn't be saved. Not from Los Illuminados, not from Las Plagas, and certainly not from himself. Leon had no choice but to kill him.
Leon takes a moment to collect himself after revealing this, putting his arms on the stone railing on the bridge as he looks down into the pond water below. You stand by his side, copying his actions except you keep your eyes on him.
Like with Raccoon City, there were people he met and lost in the same day. Those two officers, killed by the villagers, of course. Then there was Luis Sera, or Luis Serra-Navarro. Luis. A researcher who once worked for Umbrella and then for Los Illuminados. He had a change of heart, decided to help Ashley and Leon since he already successfully removed his own Plaga, and went to great risk to do so. He did have an arrangement of some kind with Ada regarding that Plaga that Leon mentioned earlier, but...He was a good man who made some really shitty choices in his life. He died because he was helping Leon rescue Ashley. Krauser stabbed him in the back and then tried to kill Leon. One of Luis's final actions saved Leon from dying right along with him.
"Remind me to find a copy of Don Quixote," Leon says with a halfhearted smile. "Luis loved that book. Kept making references to it throughout our short time together. I know of it, but I've never read it. I should."
There was also Mike, the helicopter pilot who came to give Leon backup on the island where Ashley was taken. This was after dealing with the village and then the castle. Leon walks you through the journey somewhat quickly, dropping names of people he had to fight if he knows them and the places they were. Bitores Mendez, village. Ramon Salazar, castle. Osmund Saddler, island. When Leon was on the island in pursuit of Ashley, Mike showed up with the helicopter Hunnigan sent to support him. Mike helped even the odds against the well-armed Plagas-infected forces there, but was ultimately killed when some insectoid B.O.W.s attacked the chopper, causing him to lose control. All Leon knew about Mike was his name...and that he knew a good bar they could go to for drinks had he survived.
Ashley survived, though. Thanks to Luis and his laboratory on the island, she lived and she was cured of the Plaga. She in turn helped cure Leon of his when he passed out from the exhaustion of fighting for hours and hours on end with little time for resting. It's no wonder he's as battered and bruised as he is. It's a miracle he's not worse off, to be honest, or even dead.
You rest your hand on top of one of his, rubbing the back of it with your thumb. His other hand moves on top of it as he holds it in earnest, giving it a tight squeeze.
"Did you...have any thoughts of...doing something drastic while you were infected?" you ask with much hesitance.
He reads between the lines. "No, no. By the time I found out I was infected, I already had Ashley. She was my number one priority. I never really considered...Maybe, in the back of my mind, but if I did that, then I would've had to--Ashley..."
"What...was it like? I mean...if you don't mind me asking."
"Awful. Just...fucking awful. I wasn't in control of myself. It was painful to resist. Saddler's goddamn voice was in my head...I thought my head was going to fucking explode and a goddamn monster was going to take its place. Thought my body was going to...Ugh, I don't want to think about it anymore. I'm sorry."
"No, no, it's fine, I understand."
"It's over...for now. I'm not sure what Ada wanted that Plaga amber for...I can't believe I let her play me again. She makes me feel so--"
"You're not stupid, Leon. You want to see the best in people. You always have. She just took advantage of that. She didn't get as far as she has without the skills to back it up. Is Ada even her--?"
"No, it's not her real name. And even if it was, there's too many Ada Wongs out there to narrow down which one is her." Catching the look you're giving him out of the corner of his eye, he explains, "I've looked into it on my own time. You're still the only person I've ever told about Ada...Though in her line of work with B.O.W.s and bio-terrorism in general, her existence is probably not as secret as it once was."
"I'm sorry she's hurt you...again."
"Don't be. As much as I hate to admit it, without her being there, I'm not sure Ashley and I would've survived. So...She was helpful. Not sure if that balances the scales, exactly, but..."
"Well, I'm glad you made it. I just wish you wouldn't have to do this."
"Yeah. Me, too."
A long pause. Then, you say, "Let's go to Barnes & Noble tomorrow. It should have at least one copy of Don Quixote. The question is, you want the translated version, or are you good enough with Spanish to read it in its original language?"
He chuckled. "Sweetheart, I only know enough to get by. There's no way in hell I'd be able to read an entire book, even if I wanted to."
"Sounds like quitter talk, but fine. We'll do the English version and forget there's anything that could've possibly been lost in translation."
He raised an eyebrow, though in the dark of night you can't really see it. You just kind of know he's doing it. "We? What do you mean, 'we?'"
"I could read it with you. I've never read it before, either."
"Oh, you don't have to--"
"I want to, though. It's something we can do together, in your friend's honor."
He smiles. "I'd like that."
It's late. You should be heading back to your home, and Leon realizes this, too. He offers you his arm. With a small smile, you take it, resting your head against his bicep. Wow, even in its relaxed state, it's big. If there's one good thing that came out of Leon's enslavement, it's how it really whipped him into shape. You kind of miss when he was softer and a bit squishy, though.
There's a pleasant silence on the walk back. Leon feels a little lighter now that he's had a chance to talk about his experience against Los Illuminados. Even if it doesn't undo the damage, it at least reminds him that he doesn't have to be alone in this. You're here. You'll always be here.
And you're not going to be judgy like that professional people keep trying to push him to see. Fuck therapy. It hasn't helped him in the past and it won't help him now. Hell, they'd probably tell him the monsters he's fought and almost died to aren't real, that they're all in his head. Hallucinations. Yeah, no. He's had hallucinations. He knows the difference. He knows he does have issues, but some doctor who spends all day on a couch listening to people talk about their problems isn't going to solve them, especially when the existence of B.O.W.s isn't common knowledge.
"Hey, Leon."
"Yeah?"
"I was thinking back to that conversation we didn't have while making the guest bed. Did you...really imply you wanted us to be friends who, uh...?"
You trail off, too embarrassed to finish the question. He feels your face get hotter through the fabric of his jacket sleeve. You're not alone in that, however. He's just as flustered, if not more so.
"I, uh, might have, yeah. If that makes you uncomfortable--"
"It doesn't. It just...caught me off guard. It's not every day my best friend suggests we fuck, you know?" Nervous laughter escapes you as you resist the urge to pull away from him. "Especially since I admitted just before that that I...feel like your security blanket. If I was anyone else, I'd...assume you're finding another way to use me."
"Oh no, I didn't mean it like that at all. I'm sorry."
"It's fine, it's fine!" You're so quick to reassure him that he almost doesn't believe you. "I'm the one that made the joke about doing you in the first place, so I really don't have a problem with it. Really! The only reason I'm bringing it up is...I want to know if you meant it, or if it really was just us messing around."
Well now, how's Leon supposed to respond to that?
He remembers drunkenly confessing to loving you years ago, on the first anniversary of the end of Raccoon City. He even kissed you. You acted like it never happened. You probably didn't even believe him, given his mental state at the time. He chose not to bring it up again at the time because he realized his new life wouldn't allow a relationship to take up any space in it. It was too dangerous, too time-consuming, too demanding, and so much more.
But now, after everything that's happened and with the passing of time, he can't help wondering if he should try again.
"Actually, sweetheart, I...I did mean it."
"Wow," is your simple reply, quickly followed by, "I can't believe the Leon S. Kennedy thinks I'm fuckable. Holy shit..."
"It's not just that, babe. I love yo--"
"We'll have to take it slow," you say, oblivious to cutting Leon off. "I'm still a virgin, so I'll probably be really, really disappointing. You'll have to show me the ropes."
"The ropes? Isn't it early to be--?"
"Not actual ropes, silly! That kinky shit is way outta my comfort zone right now. Geez, I haven't even been touched by anyone and you think I wanna be tied up for my first time? Please."
You laugh, and the way your entire face lights up has Leon in awe as he looks down at you still clinging to his arm.
"At least you took me to dinner first," you add. "Such a gentleman."
"Whoa, hang on. I never said we'd--You're getting ahead of us here." That isn't to say you're implied enthusiasm isn't appreciated. It's kind of a turn-on, if anything. The heat is pooling in an area other than his face. Leon needs to try to focus on something else or--
"I know, I know. I'm not about to hop into bed with you without protection, which neither of us has at the house. And also...Well..." You hide your face in his arm, away from his gaze. You're unable to take it while thinking about this conversation. "I'm not ready for it. Not...Not yet. Which is dumb because I'm twenty-seven and practically everyone my age has fucked at least once, but--"
"There's nothing dumb about it, and there's nothing wrong with you."
"Isn't there, though? There's teenagers with more experience than me. I'm a grown woman. Shouldn't I have...?" You shake your head. "I guess that would've meant I let someone into my life, huh? Trusted someone to love and respect me? And I'd have to be attracted to someone other than yo--I mean, be attracted to someone." You sigh. "It's no wonder the only kiss I've had was when we were both drunk. I don't put myself out there enough."
"Nothing wrong with that." Leon maneuvers the arm you're holding so it's now around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him as he gives you a tight squeeze. "You're overthinking this, sweetheart. We're not going to jump right in and I'm not expecting anything from you. It doesn't even have to happen if you don't want it. The last thing I would ever want to do is push you into something you're not ready for. You set the pace. I'll follow your lead."
"I thought following a lady's lead wasn't your style."
You both laugh at that. Dorks. It's something stupid he's said before, something he often liked to believe he did. But for you, he'll make you an exception. You're always the exception. His exception.
He leans down to leave a kiss on the top of your head. You shrink into him, unable to do much else other than giggle in response. What's going on today? You have no clue what's gotten into Leon that he's coming onto you and giving you a kiss. At the very least, you know it's not alcohol. He hasn't had even a drop. His breath doesn't reek of it, either. So what was the deal?
Eh, you're not going to complain. You find yourself enjoying his doting too much to try to put a stop to it. Not to mention the possibility of something you imagined happening since high school might actually come true after all this time. Leon really knows how to make a lady feel special.
But you're just best friends.
You're not dating. You're not a couple. You're not together.
Just best friends...
...now with potential benefits.

Lately there's been quite a few interviews with the creators of Dragon Age: Absolution, some of which contain interesting pieces of information about Absolution and DA generally. This post collects these together. :> it's under a cut due to length and will be updated if more info of note from interviews comes out. all infos have their sourcelink included. this post is Part 1, it spilled over into 2 parts due to character limits (Part 2 link). (Absolution spoilers under cut)
Unreliable narrators & fluid lore ("You think you know how things work, but it's rare that you actually do, and it's rare that everything is exactly what it seems [...] it gives us opportunities to ask questions like, 'What if that didn't actually happen that way? Maybe the world isn't what people think.'"), power at a cost/power always has a cost & this can manifest socially or literally, the characters & what happens with them & how they relate, heroism being about the choices you make & what you choose to do when confronted with a problem, and what is a hero/what makes a hero are central themes of Dragon Age [source]
Pride, ego and the belief that "only I have the answers, I'm the only one who can solve this" also came up as a theme (👁️). it was said that characters who aren't willing to acknowledge when they need help often become the villains. John Epler said that that is the kind of stuff he would love to explore going forward in the series: "Where we can see that idea of people who are convinced that they are the only ones who can solve the problems versus the people who do have that ability to lean on others, that ability to take what's given to them, take what's offered, take the help that they need." [source]
They would love to do more with the characters in this sort of way: "Using Solas as an example, using Corypheus as an example, how did they get to where they were? Being able to dive into that thought process and dive into that psyche, really being able to understand where they're coming from, even if you don't agree with it, because ultimately, they are supposed to be characters, not just caricatures, not just 'big bads.' They may be big bads, but there's more to it than just that." [source]
They wanted Miriam's story to feel as epic and as dire as someone facing the end of the world, because in a lot of ways she faces the end of her world in the show. as a character she's real, imperfect, at times very vulnerable, going through hell and she was given the space to express a full range of emotions. they didn't want to worry so much about making her perfectly likeable. "we wanted this to be a chance for her to try and start to heal some of those scars". she struggles with a sense of self-worth and finding and fighting for herself [source]
Miriam is the only person who doesn't think she's the hero of the story. Hira's VA was advised to play Hira as if she was the hero. Rezaren's was advised to play Rezaren as if he was the hero, and as if he was right. Rezaren sincerely believes that he's doing the right thing because people don't wake up in the morning and think that they're doing the wrong thing and then continue on. As villains Hira and Rezaren have a lot of sympathy but not a lot of empathy. "They feel bad when people are hurt by their actions, but they can't really put other people's needs above their own or other people's needs, in Hira's case, above the importance of her cause." [source]
When it comes to sensitive or intense topics, they like to engage consultants. John said "You don't want to be like, 'Oh, we never did this,' but also you maybe want to like, 'You know what? It maybe made sense 10 years ago or however long ago, but maybe now we're not going to go quite in the same direction. Maybe we're going to put some more nuance in it or maybe take it in a slightly different way.'" [source]
Corypheus saw himself as a figure who now needed to save the world, as the hero of the story. He's the kind of character who thinks "I'm the only one who can do this, I need to do it on my own". everyone to Corypheus was a tool and a way to get to his ultimate goal. he wasn't able to admit when he was in over his head and didn't have all the answers [source]
Nessum is based on the idea of what a high-end Tevinter resort town would feel like, and on what an opulent Tevinter Versaille would look like [source]
Tevinter is (and has always been talked about internally at BW as such) very much in a lot of ways like the ancient Roman Empire - a civilization that has over time conquered other places and drawn a lot of different elements of their architecture into influencing their own. they were trying to get this across in Absolution, the idea of the old Roman style and also pulling in some of the influences of the places that they conquered. [source]
Tevinter has been a massive weight on the fabric of Thedas for a long time [source]
Regarding who would appear at the very end of the show, they explored a few different options, it wasn't always planned to be Meredith. as they were developing the show they realized they all loved to hate Meredith and that they had an opportunity to surprise fans by bringing her back. they thought she was an interesting character, she appeals to the DAII fanbase and she has a lot of unresolved business. ultimately they wanted to use a villain who was big enough to make it feel like a major part of the Dragon Age mythos, rather than just an inconsequential side story. Meredith is also the perfect candidate for a character who would want an artifact like that and be willing to make sacrifices to get it for their own goals. John said that in that meeting when that was proposed, there was a moment of "Oh, okay, wow yeah that actually is perfect" [source]
Hira's character explores the theme of giving everything to the cause and the price of this. she truly believes herself to be a True Believer of the cause and is willing to sacrifice anything for it. "To have her run up against Meredith, and have Miriam run up against Meredith" - when you think of a Dragon Age character on a righteous crusade you think about Meredith [source]
When asked how deep Meredith has her claws in Kirkwall, they said that unfortunately there isn't a lot they can see about this. John added that "but I will say, find out more at some point for sure". Kirkwall isn't a great place at any time and this development is only making it worse [source]
