#and idk if giving me more time of school would have prevented all that but it would have been compassionate i think.
Note
Hi so I’m 15 and in a relationship for the first time so I don’t have experience with any of this stuff. My partner and I have been doing sexual stuff for a few months now I just have some questions.
First, I was wondering how we can do sexual things in a way that doesn’t bother other people in the house. Like maybe that’s a dumb question and the answer is just be quiet but idk it’s hard bc my partner is very vocal. Also there’s very few opportunities to do stuff without anyone else home so that’s not rly an option.
Also my parents have been very weird about my relationship with my partner. Making lots of odd comments such as “i wonder if they’re having sex up there” (to my brother who is a *child*) and giving me lots of looks that just kind of make me feel really bad about my relationship. I know that sex is natural but they make me feel really bad about it and I could use some advice on what to do about that
Next, my partner and I are both interested in getting in to kink but I don’t really know how to go about it. I’ve never heard of people getting into that stuff as minors and we don’t want to do anything too crazy especially since we don’t really have access to any supplies.
You’ve definitely talked about this before but could you tell me what kind of protection is best and easiest to use and obtain for f/f sex. School didn’t teach me how to use anything other than a male condom.
Thank you so much. Sorry for asking so many questions
hi anon,
your first question is going to be pretty circumstantial; I don't know what the layout of your house is like or how realistic it is to wait for privacy. the ideal if of course to wait until everyone else is either asleep or out of the house, but I recognize that the former may be difficult if not impossible for someone your age and you've already said the latter is hard to come by. using other noises, like music or TV or white noise, can be helpful, although it's unlikely to prevent your parents from speculating.
to address your second problem most directly, I'm afraid there's no much that I personally can do to rectify that. it is unfortunately very normal for parents to have an anxious, awkward, and difficult time adjusting to their children becoming sexually curious. I think the most crucial thing to remember here is that this has nothing to do with what you're doing being gross or wrong, and most everything to do with how your parents were raised to think about sex. unless they have specific concerns they want to raise with you about sexual safety, their reactions are most likely coming from a place of discomfort that they don't know how to channel appropriately. that's not a shortcoming on your part, but on the people who failed to help them develop a better way of understanding their own feelings about sex - and, yes, on them for how they're handling those feelings now.
I'm unsure exactly what you're interested in exploring, since kink covers a very broad array of activities and "supplies" could mean almost anything, but I would definitely recommend an abundance of caution in your explorations. kink is great, but that doesn't mean it's easy for for everyone. there's a reason that you seldom hear of people your age getting into kink, which is that it generally requires a great deal of practice with navigating partnered intimacy and communication - something that few teenagers have had time to develop the skills for. kink is also something that many people find works best as a communal activity, by finding others to help introduce them around and sharing experience to help safely explore their fantasies; for obvious safety reasons, few kink spaces are looking to admit 15 year olds. by all means, do your research - Evie Lupine's youtube channel is a great place to start, with a backlog of hundreds of videos covering all kinds of kink-related topics - but be careful with how you act on it, and recognize that kink comes with more potential complications and risks than "vanilla" sex that cannot be taken lightly.
if both parties have vulvas and vaginas then you can use dental dams for protection during oral sex, latex or nitrile gloves or finger cots to cover hands/fingers, and external ("male," although there's nothing inherently gendered about them) condoms for any penetrative toys (or cut them down one side to flatten them out and make the aforementioned dental dams).
please don't apologize for asking questions! questions are how you learn and stay safe :)

pbelase talk more abt mlp the idea of actually delving into stuff like what u posted is so interesting to me. sits with my chin in my hands and kicking my feet like we're at a sleepover. if u ever wanna infodump I'm Here
giggling twirling my hair and then taking out a massive binder of thoughts i've had since 2012
idk if you mean my thoughts on magic as a whole or on starlight but ur getting BOTH. big warning, i'm going to take this neon cartoon very seriously.
magic in g4 is wildly overpowered and there's this huge underlying inequality between the pegasi and earth ponies compared to the unicorns - which is reinforced in how the show portrays class, wealth, and nobility. The upperclass Canterlot consists mostly of unicorns, and nobility that hasn't earned their status and instead inherited it (Duke Blueblood). honestly, you could make the case that the unicorn's old role of raising the sun and moon (and therefor the crops) allowed them to maintain control over the earth ponies. In the few earth ponies we do see in Canterlot, they're mainly put in typically lower class associated physical intensive labor work. Notably, we see a group of earth ponies striking in one episode, implying that unions exist in order to prevent exploitation of these groups (notably, fancy pants speaks negatively about them because they're delaying a swan thing, a superfluous ceremony that is purely for fun and not at all necessary).
But back to magic! magic TRUMPS the other ponies' abilities. we see it can turn back time, control weather, give ponies super speed and strength, help them FLY?? anything a pegasi or earth can do, a unicorn with enough magic and training could arguably come in and do (perhaps even better than them!). When i used the example of the bakery in canterlot, i was drawing from the show. there's a scene where Starlight is able to ice a cake in seconds and Mrs. Cake asks if she's trying to put her out of business to which...yeah! could an earth pony be able to match that level of output in a unicorn dominated city? sure, someone brought up the idea of artisanal goods, but could that really compete with fast well crafted baked goods that take a fraction of the time an earth pony product would take? the answer is no. the artisanal goods would be the exception, not the norm.
Unicorns in general have a huge advantage in coordination, we see that they dominate the arts scene. They're capable of doing precise stitching for clothing, something that a pegasus or an earth pony would need to do by mouth and wouldn't be able to match the fine motor skills that magic can do. An earth pony can only sew by mouth, a unicorn without any magical training can sew multiple at once. They're at a huge disadvantage comparatively!
That leads us to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, just unicorns. Earth ponies and pegasi are completely blocked out from attending a prestige academy headed by the queen of Equestria herself on the basis that they can't do magic. We know that Celestia uses the school to scope out proteges...but that means only unicorns are considered.
now this is where Starlight comes in and look. listen. i love a good hypocritical villain but if you want to claim that she has a point in the show, ur wrong. Cutie marks don't automatically make you good at something, they don't disqualify you from other talents, and they definitely aren't limited to talents (some are personality traits!). Most importantly, they're what makes you feel fulfilled and happy. Starlight's ideology is flawed and in the show, this is how it's portrayed, and that's good.
But gotdamn. her backstory suuuuuucckkss. you can't write your friend a letter? can't be a penpal? come on starlight try a little harder. I mean they hardly stay unequal, writer's pet- i mean starlight can little outpower an alicorn princess.
so like. if you want her to have a point, she should've been an earth pony against magic. Starburst goes to an academy she's barred from tending, letters that she has to write are cumbersome and difficult because she has to do it by mouth, a lot of her labor options are limited by her capabilities - i mean come on! listen to me people, the enemy isn't cutie marks, the enemy of g4 inequality is magic.

*cracks knuckles*
I’m still not sure if we’re not all delusional and overestimating the writers of the show or not. I mean, maybe everything is as it seems right now? But, i’m so paranoid by now i don’t trust anyone lol
I mean …
🍎Phee. He was Non’s boyfriend, they seemed very sweet together. He was concerned about Non spending time with the gang, and prevented a suicide attempt. He also seemed pretty suspicious of Non spending time with Keng – and i wondered why he’d jump to the Non cheating on him immediately. It seemed a little weird in the moment? He even cried. idk.
He was the one to bring their relationship to the next level, he wanted Non to change schools, and even got his father involved to help Non. This could be just teenage impulsiveness – or show how serious he was. When the video was leaked he was deeply hurt; both bc Non lied to him when he directly asked if there was anything between Non and Keng, and bc he considered that cheating (it’s not, but bear with me). And in that moment, he reacted very, very badly. What he said to Non ist awful, but especially considering he knows about Non’s mental health issues. Also, there was again this underlying message of Non having cheated (or lied?) before. That made me wonder again. When Non vanished, Phee never got the chance to clear things up. To either make up or break up. He was left hanging, with the gang and the police claiming Non most likely left with Keng.
So, what did Phee know? He knew that the gang treated Non badly, but i’m pretty sure he had no idea about the extent – the camera, the details of the money laundering, the mafia. So, when New (I’ll stay with that name) showed up, he found an ally. Someone who also cared for Non (and who also felt guilty, but i don’t think they shared that), and wanted to find out what happened. I’m still not sure if for Phee it was more about finding closure for himself or make the gang answer for what they did. Either way, i don’t think he had murder on his mind lol
He could seriously have caught feelings for Jin. I don’t see the chemistry, tbh, but that could be copper’s acting. I also don’t see the common interests ppl talk about, but whatever. He was definitely torn between his feelings for Jin and the Plan™. And after seeing that news report about Non and Keng he pushed Jin away (and Jin is still hearbroken enough about that after 3 years to chomp on Phee’s dick lol). But I seriously struggle with Phee considering the gang his friends (like he called them in ep 10). Yes, he spent time with them and yes, they never treated him badly. But he knows they’re bullies. He knows something happened. It just feels ooc for him to just ignore that?
So where does that leave me? Idk i can see both. Phee wants to move on, and joined New in this last scheme to leave that part of his life behind. One last try and then he’s done. Find out what he can. So, when the guys start dying, and everything’s out of control, he confesses to Jin (we still can’t be sure if everything he says is true or just conjecture on his part tho). Giving Jin the water was just a brain fart, and he really found the axe by accident. And they hold hands on the way to the house, and he lets the axe thoughtlessly fall to the ground. It would be … unsatisfactory for me, but possible.
OR (🤡): He’s in on everything. He may really like Jin or not, but he never abandoned the Plan™. What he tells Jin about Por’s and Dang’s deaths, again, may be true or not, but he confesses to Jin just to get a confession in return. He knew the water would be drugged, he knew where the axe was, and left it fall conveniently in front of the house for someone else to pick up later etc. Convoluted, but possible 😊 (i still think the markings on the trees were off)
🧪Now. New. He’s pretty straightforward, i think. He wants the gang to go down. He wants to know the truth of course, but he wants to punish them. Depending on Phee’s „loyalty“, Phee is either on his (s)hit list or his ally, both is still in the cards. He may have found another ally altogether, either one from the gang, OR the 9th person. It’s possible that the killing is his doing, just like Phee told Jin – he hates the gang, and it’s not like he has anything left to lose. On the other hand, we never saw him do any of it, we just have Phee’s story. And i don’t trust anything i don’t get to see with my own two eyes anymore lol
🎞Jin. Well. He has morals, but in the end they don’t mean shit. He’s nice to Non and tries to, idk, make the gang be less assholey to Non, but is ineffective. I personally think he’s just nice bc he likes Non, not because of altruism. (But i’m biased) And when it became obvious that Non not only wasn’t interested in him but also imperfect (being raped aka „cheating), he couldn’t cope. He took the video, he leaked it, he let Thee take a drugged Non away, and he lied about Non running away with Keng. And, like, three minutes after Non’s disappearance he fell deeply in love with Phee(‘s abs).   I found interesting that he „outed“ Tan as New, but not Phee as Non’s boyfriend. And that he claimed he’d trusted Thee. Sure you did.
💉Fluke. He’s a wild one. The most revealing thing he said until now was that he didn’t want to be like Non. He kept quiet bc he knew he could/would have been the next victim of the gang. Interestingly, he knows the most about the bullying, i think. He was there when Top broke the camera and Thee set up Non. He was there when Jin filmed Non and Keng. He’s a little like Jin, in that he knows what’s happening is wrong, but doesn’t intervene.
Maybe the drugs hit him harder bc he’s already high strung and stressed? Idk, i find him weird. I’m not sure if the most logical reaction to a masked killer hunting you and your friends is to … grab a gun and threaten everyone around you? But again, it might be the drugs causing this.
I don’t really see him as a secret ally to New. What would be his motive? Or more like, what would override his very strong instinct of self preservation? He has a lot to lose, and basically nothing to gain.
💰Thee. Ugh. His life sucks, and he’s a victim of his circumstances. I think, in a way, that’s what fuels his distaste for Non. He sees how similar they are, in a way – and like Fluke, he needs to distance himself from Non. When Non told Thee to get out of the mafia situation he’s in, i was worried. I think Thee reacts badly to percieved pity from the wrong kind of person. He did the most damage to Non, realistically. He supported the idea to let Non write the script (as soon as he heard there might be money in it), he set Non up to be the fall guy for the camera/the debt and pulled him into the whole mafia bs. And he drugged him and delivered him to his uncle.
I also think he’s (maybe like Fluke) the most realistic of all oft hem. He knows what he’s doing, he had to grow up quickly, he has no (or not many) illusions about the world he lives in. He knows his actions doom Non. I no longer think he’s doing it gleefully, but he doesn’t hesitate that much, he has too much to lose.
From his (re)actions in ep 10 i don’t really think he’s a secret ally to New or Phee (or Non), but i do see how he could be. I think he really cares about White, and wants to be better. He knows the gang too well to like them. And from the preview … he knows more than he told in ep 10. Maybe he tried to save Non, maybe he failed? Maybe it’s a tit-for-tat – i help bring down Uncle Joe, you help me bring down the gang?
Not that i believe that’s what happened, but let me clown, ‘kay?
👶White. Well, we know next to nothing about White’s backstory, so he has potential lol. Most importantly he’s an outsider to the original gang, like New, and like Phee. He could really be just a lil dude, on a terrible, terrible weekend trip with the boyfie. He’s cute, and scared, and submissive.
But he also somehow ends up in the focus again and again. The radio, the knife, the hard drive, … He’s so good at influencing Thee, it’s impressive! And … idk, maybe he doesn’t like guns, and doesn’t want his boyfriend to shoot anyone, and that’s both pretty normal lol. On the other hand „forget the gun!“ seemed odd to me. In that situation i most definitely wouldn’t want to forget the gun, i would want to have it, even just to make sure no one else had it. When he gets the gun, he (again!) puts it somewhere it could be easily taken (to what end, i have no idea, maybe just to cause chaos??), and later convinces to let Top be, bc he’s tied up now 😊 and won’t be able to get free 😊 after which Top gets free 😊 and is shot (😊). He also confuses me because he seems to go from tiny scared cinnamon roll to rational strong cinnamon roll.
So, if New has another ally, he seems the most likely candidate? For now? As of ep 10? But idk.
In the end, they’re probably all just confused idiots in a cabin in the woods, and Non somehow is out there, taking them out one by one. and that's okay, too.

Considering writing more to this lil idea of mine. Not sure what to title it. But it'd ultimately be Aizen/Ichigo and some kind of "club" AU type thing. Idk I read a fic from 2014 and was sad there wasn't more to it. And the account was orphaned so :(
Brats Don't Prosper
Aizen speaks first. "You're quiet, Renji." He doesn't push much, not with words, but his raised brow is more than enough.
Renji drinks his sparkling water, having uncharacteristically avoided his customary gin and tonic. He's also avoiding Aizen's eyes, more deliberately than usual.
"Share your mind," Aizen requests, giving Renji the full weight of his attention.
Renji is silent for a couple more moments, staring into his hissing water.
"Remember that… friend I mentioned?" Renji asks, glancing up to meet Aizen's eyes only briefly before looking back down and rubbing his arm.
"The orange-haired one with the mouth and bratty tendencies?" Aizen asks. Renji seldom talks about any other friends so anonymously, often using others’ names in conversation. He's kept this one to himself, though. “Is he why you reached out before tomorrow?”
Renji looks genuinely uncomfortable, and that's a red flag for the older Dominant. "Y-yeah. He was wasted, trying to shower last night. Which-" Renji furrows his brow, "isn't like him. I found him just…” Renji's eyes go distant, reliving the likely distressing memory, “messed up his shoulder and stuff on the way down. But..." Renji closes his eyes. "He had..." He shudders. "There's bruises on him. Like. Not..." He waves his hand, "y'know. But bad."
Aizen nods, looking off to the side for some seconds to make Renji more comfortable.
"He's a masochist, is he not? What about the marks seemed unusual?"
"See, I asked… or I tried to. Shouldn't have, but I did and he said that they, whoever they are, didn't stop. That it was fun, seemed legit, until it wasn't. They got rougher, ‘n’ didn't stop at his safe word."
Aizen briefly flares his nostrils, feeling annoyed at such blatant disrespect and disregard. Before Renji can see, he schools his features. These things happen, possibly even in his own space, but he has safeguards in place. Prevention is easier than picking up the pieces.
"He told me some details, but I couldn't understand much. He said it happened  last Friday. I found him Tuesday. Eleven days and he still looked like that."
It's Thursday mid-day. He's right. More than a week and his friend still looks so rough? Aizen's chest tightens, but he keeps his reactions to himself. He doesn't really get worked up, and Renji's fairly raw right now. Adding fuel to the fire and asking for information he doesn't have isn't going to be helpful.
"He's not usually... like... I don't know."
"Impulsive or reckless?"
"I guess? Like, not all the time. But he's been just..." Renji sits back and scratches his scalp vigorously.
Renji's getting worked up, and, frankly, looks exhausted. Aizen has no authority here, not technically, but as one of three hosting Masters in their area, it doesn't matter. His words still carry, as would Shunsui and Jūshirō's.
"Renji." He makes his tone firm, but not any louder. He hasn't needed to raise his voice at the red haired man in several years. He isn't about to start.
"Sorry." He crosses his arms. "I warned him, sir-- sorry, I-- gah."
"It's all right. I know it's a habit; you're doing nothing wrong, Renji, just be mindful." Aizen sips at his cooling Oolong. "Continue."
"I know as good as anyone that this stuff isn't therapy. I know that. We all do, sorta. Ichigo's going to get himself into trouble."
"Likely, yes," Aizen agrees flatly, setting his tea down and lacing his fingers.
"What do I do? I brought him into this lifestyle. I..  showed him this. And he ran with it, but I'm not a top, Sōsuke. I can't--" He's getting heated again; if it's progressed this much, Aizen's surprised this is the first he's hearing about it.
"Renji, I understand why you're worked up, but I want you to listen to me. Okay?" Aizen waits until he has the other's eyes and gives him a soft smirk. "You are not responsible for any of this. None of it. Do you understand me?" When Renji's head starts to turn away, Aizen follows enough to bring him back. "Do you understand me, Renji?"
Renji nods, and Aizen lifts his brow. He knows better than that.
"Yes, I understand you." He doesn't sound happy about it, hunching his shoulders forward and making himself smaller.
It's a start, Aizen admits to himself. He knows when to pick and choose his battles, and small victories are still victories.
"Wondeful. Now, is there anything you want of me outside of a sympathetic ear and a firm talking to?" He can see it clearly on the tip of Renji's tongue, but the man knows Aizen isn't going to offer. Maybe a couple years ago, but he's witnessed Renji grow too much in his home events and at outside gatherings.
"You can say no..."
"I'm aware," Aizen says, trying to add some levity while proving a point.
"Can Ichigo be my plus one tomorrow night, Sōsuke?"

✧ part 11: memories of a stranger // a satosugu reincarnation au
chapter 11: one single thread of gold
Tumblr media
“Yes, and I think I should have received this point as well…”
Shoko generally excels at keeping her emotions out of academic situations, primarily because she doesn’t actually care much about school. She works hard, sure, but sometimes, when she’s sitting in class and listening to her third professor that day drone on and on about neuroanatomy and its various perspectives and all the too-complicated labels for every little nuance of what should really just be collectively gathered into the brain, she thinks that she wouldn’t be particularly upset if her school spontaneously combusted, preferably with her inside it. If not the entire school (this, after all, would be asking for a lot), then just her classroom would more than suffice. Unfortunately, the remaining fragment of self-preservation she possesses prevents her from advocating for such a thing, and perhaps also her morals (if slightly less so).
Even so, morals are currently taking a backseat to the annoyance bubbling up inside her at the insufferability of her teacher. Actually, maybe it isn’t the teacher’s fault, but she has better things to do than argue for a few points on a test, even if her grade is hanging on for dear life.
God, it was stressful dealing with idiots.
After successfully debating (arguing) her way into a better grade, Shoko gets Satoru’s text on her way to her community service club - this is unfortunately located across campus and consists of less community service and more socializing while discussing the importance of community service, the latter of which suits her just fine - and wrinkles her nose in confusion.
“Wouldn’t him fumbling be bad enough without the additional beating?” She mutters dryly, wondering who Satoru thinks he’s fooling with the world platonic. How do you platonically fumble someone?
dw you won’t.
Shoko pauses, unsure as to whether she’s giving him too much credit, and decides to throw in something to cushion her fall in case Satoru does screw things up and then tries to blame it on her.
probably. idk tho
She tilts her head curiously when a call from Utahime comes in, stepping aside to answer and nearly bumping into four different people. Campus is rather crowded at this time of day, even with her slight holdup after class - of course, Satoru was lucky enough to be off all afternoon. Hopefully he’s making the most of their time together, especially because she’s pretty sure Suguru did have somewhere to be today.
“Shoko! A… friend and I booked appointments at this spa nearby, but they cancelled on me last minute, and it’s a nonrefundable reservation!”
“Oh? Who?”
“...my friend! You don’t know them.”
Shoko stifles a giggle. Utahime has always been a subpar liar.
“You don’t have any other friends. Unless you asked one of the guys to go to a spa with you? I’m sure Nanami would very much appreciate it.”
“Ugh, Shoko, you sound just like them right now! Don’t do this. Just meet me there in an hour.”
“Fine. But I’m paying you back. And you know, if you’d just asked me, I would’ve come along peacefully.”
“Like hell you would’ve! Anyways, hurry up and- Ahh! They have mini jade rollers, Shoko! How cute!”
On second thought, Shoko hadn’t really wanted to go to her club anyway.
Besides, her being in a good mood is practically community service all on its own.
-
Satoru shifts slightly from where he’s lounging on the couch, wondering vaguely what’s taking Suguru so long in the bathroom. He wouldn’t blame him if he’d grown tired after hours of stagnancy; sitting in one spot for so long took quite the mental toll on a person, which was a concept that the school system did not seem to understand.
He knows that he, for one, is completely exhausted. His scant few hours of sleep is finally catching up to him, and though it’s nearly time for lunch by now - his mind travels to potential meal ideas when he realizes this, and he wrinkles his nose at the idea of trying to scrape something edible together from the few items he currently has in his fridge - he wants nothing more than to sprawl out on his admittedly average bed and have a good, long sleep to make up for his early rising.
But he doesn’t let himself entertain this idea for too long, since he doesn’t want to waste any time with Suguru in his dorm.
That sounds bad. His intentions are innocent, though!
Regardless, if Suguru really is taking a breather in the bathroom, he feels a pang of guilt at the idea that he wouldn’t have thought to simply ask him for a break. Surely he knows that Satoru wouldn’t care! Does he really think him that insensitive? He might be rude sometimes, but he’s not heartless.
When did Satoru start worrying so much about what other people did or thought, anyway? Wasn’t he the type to take everything in stride, letting everyone else act freely in the hopes that they’d step back and allow him to do the same?
He grumbles as his eyelids grow heavy and he rolls over once again, his cheek pressing into the plush cushion that rests beneath his skin.
Has his couch always been this comfortable?
He’s sure it hasn’t. Isn’t. But he feels so warm suddenly, a sense of comfort encircling him like a down blanket. He’s barely hanging on to consciousness, haven given up fighting sleep and instead letting it brush over his eyelids, easing them shut.
It won’t be for long; just a couple minutes of rest, and then he’ll be full of renewed energy that he’ll be able to throw into his art.
He’s a light enough sleeper that any movement will probably awaken him, anyways.
And Suguru might still be a while.
This is the last coherent thought that Satoru recalls putting together before he slips fully into unconsciousness.
He wishes it had ended there. Unconsciousness was not such an unpleasant place to exist. It turned out that dreams could be far, far worse.
He’d thought he was over it.
He’d thought that horribly gut-wrenching dream from last night was finished and done with, that he would never have to recall its exact occurrences in such a high level of detail again. He didn’t imagine for a second when he shut his eyes that it would all come back to him while he was in his most vulnerable state, or he would have forced himself to stay awake until it killed him.
The last thing Satoru expects to see when he finally tears himself from sleep is Suguru standing over him, something like worry creasing the smooth surface of his face. He’s still mid-panic, still in a state of attempting to gather his bearings. Horror seizes him as he zeroes in on a specific detail that would have been minute at any other time, in any other place.
It’s Suguru’s long, dark hair - down around his shoulders.
Down like it was when Satoru killed him.
And is Suguru’s silhouette swimming in his vision now, or is he just imagining it? Is the red armchair directly behind him blending into Suguru’s face and painting half of it bloody, or are his eyes playing tricks on him? That look on his face- does he suddenly appear so incredibly hurt, like Satoru has somehow wounded him beyond belief without meaning to, or is it just him? Is he moving, even, or is he just standing there silently? Standing at all? Is he a corpse? An apparition?
Satoru tries to pull himself together. He does his best to twist his expression into one of calm, despite the fact that he hasn’t yet caught his breath and he’s growing dizzier with every second he stares into Suguru’s eyes and attempts to discern whether he’s still breathing. When he finally manages to speak, it comes out strangled, forced.
“Y-your hair is down.”
Suguru’s face flushes. And maybe Satoru should be wondering what he could possibly be so embarrassed about, but he’s so busy admiring the indisputable sign of life coloring his cheeks that he cannot bring himself to consider what seems like an insignificant detail in comparison.
“Yeah. It wasn’t cooperating too well today. Look, Satoru, I shouldn’t have-“
The sound of liquid bubbling over from the kitchen cuts Suguru off, and his head snaps toward the entrance, the guilty look in his eyes fading temporarily in favor of confusion.
He hurries into the adjacent room while Satoru sits up and rubs his eyes, his heart rate slowly settling.
He must be losing it.
He’s never been this unstable in his life. It’s easy to make such a criticism now, of course, when he’s in a calmer state of mind.
When he can think clearly.
Still, given this second of reprieve, the remaining shred of his sanity manages to come up with a single, perfectly formed decision:
He will not tell Suguru about this.
He’d been lucky to get a neutral response from him the first time around, given that a random person somehow possessing a sketchbook full of painstakingly crafted images of him would have thrown him off at best, and creeped him out at worst. But this? ‘Hey, I had a dream where I killed you, but I don’t know if it was a dream so much as a premonition? Or maybe it’s happened already, but in a different reality? Well, we better hope it wasn’t foreshadowing anything, huh? Haha.’
Absolutely not.
“Satoru! Did you put milk in this!?”
An exasperated voice snaps him out of his thoughts. He glances towards the entrance and nearly laughs when he sees Suguru standing there with a hand on his waist, brandishing what looks like his (broken) tea kettle threateningly.
“Yeah. What, was I supposed to drink the coffee black?”
“I practically do this for a living, you know! You could’ve just asked me. What will we do now? And when you’re so tired, too. Coffee would have been the perfect pick-me-up...”
Suguru purses his lips disapprovingly, which only heightens Satoru’s amusement. Perhaps they’re both a little unstable, if Suguru’s having a breakdown over a kitchen appliance. He feels his shoulders relaxing, and his mouth curls into a grin.
“I can’t have my guests working, Suguru! Don’t worry about it. I never used that thing anyway.”
“That isn’t really the issue here…”
A shadow passes over his face as he speaks, and his expression drops once again, as though he’s just recalled something important. Satoru eases himself off the couch, planting a reassuring hand on Suguru’s shoulder as he strolls past him and into the kitchen to survey the extent of the mess. He thinks he feels Suguru flinch at his touch, and the crease in his brow deepens. Is he truly that worried about the coffee? Perhaps it was expensive.
The counter is surprisingly impeccable; he’d expected much worse, in all honesty, given Suguru’s slightly disproportionate reaction, and he brushes his hands off casually after disposing of the napkins he used to wipe up the spill.
“See? Don’t worry so much, Suguru.”
Suguru gives him a tight smile, one that doesn’t reach his eyes - Satoru would know, because he’s spent what feels like years taking in every smile. He frowns.
“Uh… Should I make more coffee?” He offers in a voice that admittedly sounded more enticing in his head.
“Please don’t.”
Suguru cracks a small grin, then, and the warmth of it makes Satoru almost dizzy with relief.
Because although he can’t deny the inexplicable hold that these visions - these dreams - have over him, there is little to support that they are anything besides horrific amalgamations of his worst fears.
He’d wanted, at first, to believe that he and Suguru had known each other in another lifetime - it was such a pretty concept, an invisible string to tie them together regardless of the circumstances. It no longer mattered what difficulties might befall them, because they were simply fated, and so life would bring them back together.
But when innocent emotions and a soft, hazy sense of familiarity sharpened into memories that Satoru was sure he wouldn’t have wanted to live out in the first place, let alone recall, it lowered his inclination to place faith in what suddenly seemed so incomplete, so groundless. He began to balk at the thought that his mind knew something he didn’t, and that once-comforting notion quickly turned into one that terrified him.
And the string became something like a tightrope, a sequence of events into which they were fated to fall over and over.
It became something with the potential to pull them apart.
-
The portrait is finished in nine days: it’s practically a record for Satoru, not that he’s counted until now. Even so, it’s plain to see that it’s one of his best works. That isn’t just him being self-obsessed; everyone’s told him so, including his teacher, who was initially reluctant to grant him an extension but immediately changed her tune when he submitted the final project.
It’s Suguru, of course - he’s cast in bright, morning sunlight and stood in front of a tranquil lake that glitters in streaks; places where it’s blanketed in beams of light. His expression is soft, his gaze directed towards the surface of the water, which reflects his surroundings - the treetops, their leaves pale and hazy, the little yellow and blue forget-me-nots that dot the shoreline, and his own silhouette. Gentle ripples tug at the edges of his figure, blending all of his colors together and turning them into barely defined puddles of paint. Beyond the scenery but also reflected in the lake, so translucent they’re barely visible, lay frozen scenes taken from Satoru’s memory (scenes that are meant to represent the course of a person’s life, he’ll explain to anyone who asks) - Suguru laughing, his expression open and free, a golden tint to his face - him facing dead forward, face cold and unreadable - (this one is placed farther away from the silhouette itself, on the outskirts of the water) - Suguru against a brick wall, his face bloodied. This was a smile that he would have preferred to exclude, but it haunted him persistently until he put it down on paper. To make up for it, he’d painted in another - a genuine, attentive beam that made him blush every time he laid his eyes on it. And, of course, one self-indulgent image of the two of them together on a bicycle, the bright blue of the sky barely distinguishable from the water itself.
It was a painting that would have been beautiful even if the subject was not. Even if the subject were somebody entirely different. But to Satoru, Suguru was the painting. It was why he needed him there, solid and moving and directly in front of him, when he began. It wasn’t like he needed to see Suguru’s face to remember what it looked like; it was simply that his presence was the inspiration Satoru needed to understand what he wanted to convey. To him, this painting was not a shallow depiction of a face. He wanted to capture the essence of the person in it, to encompass all of Suguru’s various sides and sharper corners and breathtaking smiles in a single image.
And he thinks he has succeeded, because when he looks at it, he can almost catch a glimmer of movement from the corner of his eye in the ripples at the lake’s surface; he can almost feel the wind in the trees, can almost get so lost staring that a wave of indescribable loss and longing surges through his windpipe, threatening to swallow him completely. Longing for what, he has no idea; Suguru is right by his side, after all.
He doesn’t know whether it’s the kind of thing that others can see, too, if his execution was a success. Even if it was, even if it does procure the same kind of emotion in others as it does within him, he can’t imagine anyone else feeling so strongly about it - about Suguru. Not because he doesn’t think him lovable, but because to Satoru, he is overwhelmingly, incredibly so.
He turns to him now. They are standing side by side in front of the finished artwork - Suguru’s first look. Satoru feels like he could die, he’s so nervous, and he’s not even entirely sure why. It’s been silent for many seconds too long.
He’s just taking it in. Stop being so impatient. Did you expect him to jump for joy the second he saw himself? Even you wouldn’t do that.
Finally, when he thinks he can’t take another second of quiet, Suguru speaks, his voice soft.
Has he been wearing his hair differently these days? Something looks off about it. There is something out of place in his movements as he turns halfway to face Satoru, a sense of transience that Satoru cannot quite pinpoint.
“It’s… beautiful, Satoru. Absolutely stunning. You’ve outdone yourself, as usual.”

If I were writing this, I'd call it "Little Scraps of Wisdom," but I'm not writing it
So @themardia and I were talking, as we so often do, about why Henry Lasso should be in high school and not grade school, and... things happened. [Warning for some discussions of stillbirth and child death—not Henry—and warning for... us being us, basically]
Chapter One: In Which Gus And Mardia Discuss Why They Should've Been Consulted On Ted Lasso
GUS: SEE THIS IS WHY HE SHOULD HAVE HAD HENRY BE LIKE 17
MARDIA: MAKE THE KID BE A COLLEGE FRESHMAN
GUS: IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FUNNY
MARDIA: and Ted and Michelle are empty nesters and that’s part of why the marriage implodes
MARDIA: people get married and have kids young! It happens!!!!
GUS: well and like... the implication from the show is that they got married out of college or whatnot, at least imo
GUS: when he mentions meeting her in the school parking lot
GUS: that was always my takeaway
MARDIA: Oh yeah
GUS: so right, they get married at say 23
Chapter Two: In Which Gus Has A Bad Idea
GUS: ...god you know what would make sense but would be like
GUS: SO DARK
MARDIA: Oh no
GUS: oh yes
MARDIA: I am afraid
GUS: maybe they DID have a kid
GUS: and he DIED
MARDIA: OH NO
GUS: YES
MARDIA: DANGIT GUS
GUS: is it worse if Henry was born before or after Kid A kicked the bucket
MARDIA: After
GUS: you're right
GUS: Michelle being like "we'll just try again! Mulligan!"
GUS: or wait no I think Ted would be more like that
GUS: and Michelle is devastated but like, pregnancy was actually really easy for her or whatever, so they have Henry
MARDIA: Yep yep
GUS: I think this only makes sense if the first kid died because of something they couldn't have prevented
GUS: bc if it had been an accident or something no WAY would ted have been able to like, leave
MARDIA: Or heck, even a stillbirth
GUS: man this is so terrible, thank you for yes-and-ing my horribleness
MARDIA: Ahahaha here for you
GUS: I think a stillbirth they would've tried again sooner
MARDIA: Ooh true
GUS: but like if the kid's IDK
GUS: ...doing math in my head... maybe 12? when it dies?
GUS: that gives them time to get henry, if henry's about 7 at the start of the show
GUS: and Ted and Michelle are early 40s
MARDIA: Oof this is dark af
GUS: honestly I want to write this now
GUS: oh man what if he had a daughter
MARDIA: DAMMIT GUS
GUS: WHAT IF HE HAD A DAUGHTER MARDIA
MARDIA: STOP TRYING TO HURT ME
GUS: AND WHEN HE SAID THINGS LIKE "LITTLE GIRLS ARE MYSTERIOUS AND PLAYFUL AND I GAVE UP TRYING TO FIGURE THEM OUT A LONG TIME AGO"
GUS: HE WAS THINKING ABOUT HIS LITTLE GIRL
MARDIA:
Tumblr media
GUS: HAHAHAHA
Chapter Three: In Which Gus Has A Slightly Better Idea
GUS: ok ok what if instead I wrote that they DID have a first kid
GUS: but she's still alive
GUS: an actual Mary Sue
MARDIA: Thank you
MARDIA: Yes
MARDIA: I am a delicate flower
GUS: I'd even call her that
GUS: Mary Sue Lasso
MARDIA: No judgment
MARDIA: Ted WOULD name his kid that
GUS: he absolutely would
GUS: ok so Mary Sue
GUS: first season she's finishing high school in Kansas
GUS: second season she rolls up because she got into college somewhere in the UK
GUS: not cambridge or oxford
MARDIA: St Andrews!
MARDIA: That’s the only other Uk college I know
GUS: oh my god I'm looking up colleges in the uk
GUS: she has to go to University College
MARDIA: Ahahahahahah
GUS: because that's the dumbest fucking name ever
MARDIA: it IS
GUS: she straight up applied because she didn't think it was a real place
GUS: and because her dad was like "aww you should apply to somewhere in the UK! then we can be expat buddies!"
GUS: and she DOES love him but like, jeez dad
GUS: anyway she gets in, has a HUGE fight with Michelle about it/the divorce/etc and is like FINE I'LL GO TO LONDON I'LL GIVE YOU ALL THE SPACE JUST LIKE DAD DID, TOO BAD YOU CAN'T DIVORCE ME TOO
MARDIA: AHAHAHHA
GUS: like one of those very teenager fights
GUS: so when she gets to the UK she's still like, fuming
GUS: and Ted's like "... hi honey"
GUS: and she's like "I'M ON MY PERIOD AND I HATE MOM, GIVE ME CHOCOLATE AND LET'S GO ON THAT FERRIS WHEEL THING"
GUS: I feel like she stays with Ted
GUS: and absolutely destroys his apartment
MARDIA: and there is so much makeup in the bathroom
GUS: Five different shampoos
Chapter Four: In Which Mardia Proposes An SMAU Of Sorts
MARDIA: She tries out every new TikTok trend
MARDIA: Ted has a heart attack when he comes home and tries the wolf cut haircut
GUS: oh my god what is THAT
GUS: is both his reaction and mine
MARDIA: LOL
MARDIA: it’s basically like a shag haircut
GUS: oh god
MARDIA: There’s this famous YouTuber Brad Mondo
MARDIA: Who reacts to people fucking up their hair
MARDIA: And offers many tutorials
MARDIA: Anyway thanks to him
MARDIA: I know the wolf cut is popular with the youths
GUS: terrible I love it
MARDIA: And I love the idea of Ted watching it so he can help her
GUS: omg
GUS: YES
MARDIA: She puts the whole thing on the internet
MARDIA: It goes viral
GUS: periodically he'll stop and say "Hi Henry! Just me and your sister having ourselves a barbershop duo!"
GUS: because he thinks she's filming for Henry alone
MARDIA: AHAH
GUS: she has a whole series
GUS: omg what if she did this back in Kansas too
GUS: WHAT IF SHE WAS THE ONE WHO FILMED THE LASSO DANCE
GUS: and everybody in Richmond knows about this including the press but nobody talks to ted about it
GUS: assuming he knows
GUS: which of course He Does Not
GUS: should this have a ship
MARDIA: Of course not!
MARDIA: YES
MARDIA: MARY SUE AND SHANNON
GUS: lol I was thinking for Ted but yes good
MARDIA: Lololol
MARDIA: I think Trent
MARDIA: Just because the parallels with the daughters is funny to me
GUS: god right
GUS: what if she hates him at first
GUS: and is BIG MAD at him for betraying her dad with that article
MARDIA: YES
GUS: but in the end is like, ... I GUESS if you like him or whatever
GUS: this would be funniest in her POV I think
MARDIA: Yes
MARDIA: Bc her response to Ted is so different
GUS: but it does mean I would have to learn more about TikTok
MARDIA: I…will try to help
MARDIA: I have one but I barely get it myself
GUS: THANK YOU
GUS: basically I just need verisimilitude in re: uploading vids, getting responses etc
MARDIA: Oh for sure
GUS: I assume it's like insta/snapchat/twitter in terms of like
GUS: people can comment/like/subscribe
MARDIA: It’s basically the successor to vine if you know what that is
GUS: I do!
GUS: vaguely
MARDIA: There you go!
GUS: I never had one but i understood the basics
GUS: mostly I'm Old Person about all of that
MARDIA: Dancing challenges are super common
GUS: Mary Sue definitely puts together a compilation of Lasso Dance Competitions
MARDIA: OOH YES
GUS: someone else did a music compilation thing to the GO LASSO GO LASSO GO chant that's like, catapulted some tiktok musician into actual success
GUS: ie like this
youtube
Chapter Five: In Which Gus Nixes The SMAU
GUS: okay god I am NOT making a fucking SMAU
MARDIA: Ahahahahahah
GUS: basically it's season 2 plus teenage daughter
GUS: but all through her POV
MARDIA: I dig it
GUS: so there's limited interest in what Ted's actually up to
GUS: I wonder if she knows about his panic attacks
GUS: I bet he doesn't tell her
MARDIA: I think this is when she figures it out
MARDIA: Or like, she finds out with everyone else
GUS: but like not because her dad was OPEN AND HONEST WITH HER
MARDIA: If she finds out when the article drops
GUS: so her anger at Trent would be like a drop in the bucket of her RAGE at her dad
MARDIA: Or because the article drops
MARDIA: she’s mad at EVERYBODY
GUS: EVERYBODY
MARDIA: does she know about how her grandpa died?
GUS: for sure, but again not because Ted told her
GUS: because that's the kind of family secret that's not actaully a secret
GUS: it's more a We Don't Talk About Bruno deal
MARDIA: Also she 100% takes a swing at Nate if she finds out he was the source
MARDIA: I love the idea of Ted having a daughter who is emphatically Not Nice
MARDIA: And may occasionally have rage issues
GUS: is it funnier if she's like, the spit of Michelle ie a tiny blonde
GUS: or more along the lasso lines so she can actually do damage to Nate
MARDIA: I think it’s funnier if she’s a mini Lasso
GUS: I mean either way Nate would be terrified
MARDIA: Like imagine a tiny teenage female Ted
MARDIA: But MAD
GUS: HAHA
GUS: I'm imagining like
GUS: Florence Pugh
GUS: which is funny for a number of reasons
MARDIA: ahahaha omg that would be great
MARDIA: Give her dark hair tho
GUS: maybe she used to dye it blonde
GUS: like her mom
MARDIA: Ooh yeah
GUS: (bc no way is Michelle a natural blonde, no disrespect but srs)
GUS: (which: neither is Rebecca so)
MARDIA: Particularly bc Sudekis’ hair isn’t that dark
MARDIA: so going blond wouldn’t be that hard or that shocking
GUS: lol what if she home dyes her hair all the time
GUS: just destroying Ted's bathroom
GUS: because she felt pink
MARDIA: this is how she’s a Brad mondo addict
GUS: and he's like "babydoll you know I love you very much but what the heck"
MARDIA: And Ted starts having to watch just to understand wtf is happening on his baby’s head
GUS: she comes into his bedroom one night and he does like a Keeley-worthy toss of his phone across the room
GUS: and she's like "...ew if you're watching porn, gross"
GUS: "but also, that stuff is exploitative and you should really be on Make Love Not Porn"
GUS: and Ted is like "...thanks?"
Chapter Six: In Which Okay, This Might Have Some SMAU Elements
MARDIA: I gotta say
MARDIA: It would be even funnier
MARDIA: If Ted is actually pretty good with hair
MARDIA: Both bc he learned thanks to having a kid
GUS: true! ooh what if Ted was the primary caregiver bc Michelle was the breadwinner
MARDIA: so when she uploads the videos of her dad doing the wolf cut
MARDIA: He is very earnestly and carefully sectioning her hair
GUS: **chinhands
MARDIA: And talking about how you have to do it like THIS because that Brad boy said so
MARDIA: And waxing poetic about getting the right type of scissors
MARDIA: “Can’t be hacking at your hair with kitchen shears”
GUS: all the while Mary Sue just looking dead into the camera
MARDIA: and putting on the screen type that says BRAD MONDO YOU CREATED A MONSTER
MARDIA: Brad mondo immediately does a reaction video
MARDIA: He is DYING
MARDIA: and also SO VINDICATED
MARDIA: “See THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE CORRECT METHOD”
MARDIA: He’s actually super enthused about Ted’s technique
MARDIA: oh god
MARDIA: What if she’s a semi regular on his channel
GUS: yes
GUS: continue
MARDIA: Like, she’s done wild shit to her hair in the past
MARDIA: So he’s reacted to her a few times
MARDIA: And is straight up going “I’m sorry but you need your dad to do your hair more often, this is the best you have ever looked"
GUS: I feel like that would be CRUSHING to an 18 year old but like
GUS: objectively hilarious
MARDIA: He’s actually very nice on the whole
MARDIA: But honest
GUS: Mardia
GUS: you look me in the screen and tell me what 18 year old wants honesty
MARDIA: HAH
MARDIA: like, she tends to go wild bc she is impatient
MARDIA: like, her hair never looks BAD BAD
MARDIA: but Brad is vibing bc Ted is METHODICAL
MARDIA: And takes the time to do it CORRECTLY
MARDIA: (To be fair, the wolf cut technique is supposed to be idiot proof)
MARDIA: (It is not)
GUS: (there are a lot of idiots in the world ok)
MARDIA: Like, the video is just Ted being patient and following ALL THE STEPS
MARDIA: while Mary Sue just squirms bc she is IMPATIENT OKAY
MARDIA: And to add insult to injury
MARDIA: Brad keeps pausing the video
MARDIA: To point out all the things that Ted is doing CORRECTLY
MARDIA: “You see how he’s directing the ponytail to the very top of her head”
GUS: I love it
GUS: although fair warning, you're writing that part
MARDIA: HAH I got you
GUS: I'm just going to be like [HAIR SCENE/FILMNG HEREY]
GUS: [BRAD REACTION VID HEREY]
MARDIA: AHAHHHAHA
MARDIA: Perfect
GUS: god
GUS: what if she used to get comments back before her dad became famous
GUS: (bc she's been doing this since she was like 15)
GUS: from women being like "IS UR DAD SINGLE"
GUS: and she was like "EW NO HE ISN'T STOP LEAVING WEIRD SEX COMMENTS ABOUT MY DAD"
GUS: like not puriteen about it
GUS: but like full on Amy from Brooklyn 99
GUS: EW ROSA THAT'S OUR DADS
MARDIA: YES PERFECT
GUS: and then thanks to the Lasso Dance (and maybe a little bit of Dad becoming this famous soccer coach or whatever)
GUS: her channel (does tiktok have channels? whatever the term is)
GUS: becomes HUGELY popular
GUS: like she still films stuff with her friends etc
GUS: but the Dad stuff is the big ticket item
GUS: which she's so grossed out by but also: it's hilarious
Chapter Seven: In Which Children Of Divorce, Whoo Boy
GUS: also -- Mary Sue is ABSOLUTELY the kid who sides with Dad in a divorce
MARDIA: Oh yep
GUS: (Henry's too young but I think he sides with Michelle)
MARDIA: Especially because like. The reason that Michelle is right to leave
MARDIA: Is not something I feel like Mary Sue would get instinctively
GUS: oh absolutely
GUS: ... oh man
GUS: you know what I could do
GUS: is have Beard sit her down at some point
GUS: and be like "your Dad is hard to be married to"
GUS: "I should know, I've been his work wife for 20 years"
MARDIA: He’s not wrong!
GUS: HE IS NOT
MARDIA: And Mary Sue could hear it from him
GUS: exactly
MARDIA: where she can’t hear it from her mom, not that Michelle is even trying to justify it
GUS: because Beard is also The Mom
GUS: man what if when she was little
GUS: and she'd get mad at her parents for whatever
GUS: she'd run away from home
GUS: to Beard's house
GUS: two blocks away
GUS: like backpack full of her favorite stuffed animals and her blankie over her shoulder
GUS: "WE'RE LEAVING"
GUS: "PACK YOUR TENT"
GUS: Beard: ok lemme just make a reeeeeal quick phonecall
GUS: they actually did go camping
GUS: bc Beard lived right next to like, a park or whatever
GUS: so they'd pitch the tent about 100 feet away from his house and make a fire and toast marshmallows
GUS: and talk about whatever books she was reading
GUS: or just stare at the fire
GUS: and then she'd fall asleep and he'd bring her home
GUS: and Michelle and Ted were totally zen about it
Chapter Eight: In Which Mary Sue's Reaction To Characters Is Not Necessarily Our Reaction To Characters
GUS: so when she moves to the UK she still randomly shows up at Beard's
GUS: which causes some stress in Beard's relationship with Jane
GUS: or maybe they get along worryingly well IDK
MARDIA: I think Mary Sue would be like “who is this”
MARDIA: At first they get along
MARDIA: And then Mary Sue sees the crazy and is like NOPE
GUS: YES good
GUS: Mary Sue's like "you remember that ventriloquist girl? and the telemarketer who was into recreational caning? Yeah Jane is worse"
GUS: and Beard is like "woah that is an indictment" and breaks up with Jane
MARDIA: she’s not wrong!!!!
GUS: SHE IS NOT
MARDIA: And Ted is like “oh thank you sweetheart”
GUS: I feel like she'd dislike Keeley at first because teenage girls still have a weird puritanical streak
GUS: but Keeley would win her over
MARDIA: Oh yes
GUS: and I think she LIKES Rebecca but like... in the way you like your dad's boss
GUS: she knows that they're close but Rebecca seems really remote and inaccessible
MARDIA: oh for sure
MARDIA: Like, that’s her dad’s work person
GUS: which means she just becomes very Midwest Polite around Rebecca
GUS: and Rebecca is like SHE IS SO CHARMING
GUS: and ted is like yes... charming
GUS: not revealing that his daughter has become a pod person
MARDIA: AHAHAHAH
GUS: what if there's some sort of crisis
GUS: one of the players is in a car accident or something
GUS: and everybody rushes to the hospital
GUS: including Rebecca who's like, no makeup in her sweats with sneakers that squeak on the linoleum
GUS: and Mary Sue is like "oh she's a human being ok"
GUS: and promptly becomes as horrible to her as she is to everyone else
MARDIA: Rebecca is so BEWILDERED
GUS: "I don't know what I did wrong, Ted, she's acting so--"
GUS: "oh no, you did something right. and now you get the same patented Mary Sue Lasso Special that us folks she actually likes get on the regular"
MARDIA: Rebecca is both flattered and insulted
GUS: Rebecca knows she really Made It, though, when Mary Sue runs away to her house one time
GUS: (because Beard is out of town or something)
GUS: and Rebecca is like "... I have an outdoor fire pit?"
GUS: "It's remote-controlled but I'm sure we can manage"
GUS: Mary Sue brings over her last bag of Jet Puffed Giant Marshmallows
GUS: I'm trying to think of how Trent and Mary Sue interact
GUS: She's DEFINITELY at the pub with her dad that time Trent's there and asks about the "food poisoning"
GUS: and she clocks that SOMETHING'S hinky
GUS: but assumes it's her dad's sublimated crush on trent
GUS: and is like "dad he was totally flirting with you"
GUS: which has the benefit of derailing Ted's concern about Trent figuring shit out
GUS: and also giving Ted a whole NEW thing to worry about
GUS: he makes some comment about how he's not gonna slip Trent a note asking if he likes him, check yes or no
GUS: and Mary Sue's like "oh my god you're so OLD"
MARDIA: okay I gotta detangle and wash my hair
MARDIA: KEEP GOING THO
GUS: haha don't try the wolf cut
Chapter Nine: In Which Gus Is Left By Herself, With Predictable Results
GUS: so it can start with Mary Sue getting off the plane in Heathrow
GUS: and Ted and Beard are waiting at the gate bc rebecca bought them fraudulent plane tickets so they could get through security
GUS: which, background to that is that Ted talked Rebecca's ear off about how anxious he was having her here for the first time, seeing as how she didn't come with Henry and Michelle that spring bc exams or whatever
GUS: but mostly Mary Sue's just like "oh my god you're so embarrassing"
GUS: so the first section would be mostly her like, starting college, dealing with her own culture shock etc
GUS: if you've got an idea of what she'd be majoring in/interested in lmk, I kind of want her to be completely separate from both Ted and Michelle
GUS: and Michelle I still headcanon as like an engineer of some kind
GUS: Maybe she's into music or something arts-related?
GUS: god what if she's an English major
GUS: Anyway so the season's already started, I assume? Whatever, timeline
GUS: eventually Mary Sue goes to the clubhouse and meets people
GUS: oh man what if Ted's taking her on a tour maybe like... post-ep 3, a few days after Sam has his moment speaking out against the Nigerian government
GUS: and Trent rolls up while Ted's mid-tour trying to get a question in
GUS: and Mary Sue's like "WHO'S THIS GUY"
GUS: like immediately rude to him
GUS: bc he reminds her of one of her professors who she hates
GUS: although she clocks immediately that Trent's not going to be putting any moves on undergraduates since he's so obviously got a crush on her dad
GUS: which she keeps to herself
GUS: (omg I'm absolutely working in a real-life thing that happened with my parents many years ago: we were all at this cute granola-type grocery store in Ann Arbor once and this twink just FELL IN LOVE with my dad, asking wistfully if he could help him with anything, and Dad just obliviously chatting with him about IDK, artisanal bread or whatever while Mom and I were dying trying not to laugh. I think of that poor boy often, I hope he's doing well and has found a silver fox of his very own)
GUS: anyway she makes a total conquest of Higgins who adores her
GUS: she super negs Jamie's eyebrow thing
GUS: goes to maybe a game or two but like... she doesn't care about soccer
GUS: and didn't care about football either
GUS: omg what if she's a THEATER MAJOR
GUS: god that would be even funnier
GUS: dreams of getting into RADA or something
GUS: lemme think - I think she goes home for Christmas, so that part for Ted is unchanged, and maybe Mary Sue has another fight with Michelle and stomps out of the house only to realize that she can't run away to Beard's house because he's back in the UK
GUS: and like she has some contemplation about her life and about the history of her own family
GUS: OMG WHAT IF SHE'S ONE OF THE EXTRAS AT THE MUSEUM THAT EDWIN HIRES
GUS: like she answers a craigslist ad or whatever
GUS: or some of her classmates tell her about it and they all go and get their $200 for the day
GUS: only she recognizes Sam and waves
GUS: and Sam is like "...????????"
GUS: in the middle of that whole scene
GUS: I'm trying to figure out when she'd meet Shannon
GUS: probably just like, around, since Shannon lives near Richmond Green too?
GUS: basically the same way Ted meets her
GUS: only Mary Sue's like "ugh another jock"
GUS: And Shannon's like "you're not a fan of jocks?" all smiles and Mary Sue is like "oh no"
GUS: what'll also be interesting is Mary Sue's relationship to alcohol
GUS: because like - she's aware of the family history
GUS: and of the right age/temperament to go full teetotaller
GUS: but also this would be the first place where she can legally drink
GUS: while ALSO knowing her dad likes to drink
GUS: and I can definitely see her also being like, well grandpa was an alcoholic sure but that didn't have anything to do with him killing himself
GUS: ...oh god
GUS: I just realized what the Big Fight would be between her and her dad
GUS: like she finds out about his panic attacks from the article
GUS: and immediately throws her grandpa's suicide in his face too, because he didn't tell her about THAT, either
GUS: she found out from a cousin, or something
GUS: and is like "do you have ANY IDEA how terrified I was, all last year, because you were the same age Grandpa was when he killed himself? I called you EVERY DAY, and if you didn't pick up I called Beard, and if he didn't pick up I called Katie at the front desk because she'd always know if you'd come in to work that day and I knew you wouldn't kill yourself at work, that'd be so unprofessional, right Dad?"
GUS: just so incredibly cruel the way daughters are
GUS: being like "you're so obsessed with this idea of nobody having to worry about you that you ignore us worrying about you ALL THE FUCKING TIME"
GUS: and this is the first time she's yelled at him in YEARS
GUS: and he suddenly realizes why - it's because she's convinced that he'll kill himself if anyone hurts him too badly
GUS: cue hugging and stuff
GUS: and him telling her about therapy and the panic attacks and everything else
GUS: he even tells her about Sassy
GUS: Mary Sue: ew, also I already knew about that
GUS: oh my god what if all this happens at Trent's place
GUS: because at first she was mad at him for writing the piece so she stomped off to HIS apartment
GUS: and he of course immediatley called Ted being like "your feral child is in my flat, please retrieve asap"
GUS: but when Ted shows up they have this big fight
GUS: while Trent is in the kitchen making tea and pretending not to hear a thing
GUS: because revealing the panic attack is one thing but this is another
GUS: and as they leave Mary Sue says she wants to apologize to Trent so she stays back for a second
GUS: and she apologizes sort of half-heartedly but also is like "look, you're gonna have to wait a couple months before asking him out now, okay? maybe at the beginning of next season"
GUS: and trent is like "pardon?"
GUS: and mary sue considers it and shrugs and is like "okay realistically he'll be over it by like tomorrow but we're going back to Kansas for the summer and long-distance relationships are hard for old people"
GUS: THE END
Epilogue: In Which Mardia Comes Back To... All That
MARDIA: I LOVE IT
GUS: I should just post this
GUS: so I don't have to write it
MARDIA: BOOOOOO
GUS: too late
MARDIA: sigh
MARDIA: At least we have chat fic
GUS: we'll always have chat fic

Idk who the guy against him is but some Danny Phantom propaganda
This is a teenager. Legit, like 15-16 at the most. He is in school, and is the only one in the whole damn town capable of dealing with the ghosts coming through a portal made by his LITERAL PARENTS for god knows what reason.
There’s all the special ghosts that get their own episodes and such, yeah- those cause massive problems. But there’s also some like the box ghost, who shows up at least once per episode and Danny is clearly done with his bullshit. The box ghost isn’t even a threat, he’s just always around for some unholy reason.
Combine this with having to hide the fact that same portal literally made him HALF GHOST, which makes him SET OFF HIS PARENTS DEVICES. Yes, it gives him his powers, but he has to go every damn day hiding the things from two people who literally work as ghost hunters (very bad ones by the way) and can detect that capability whenever because they’re also HIS PARENTS
And don’t get me started on the time shenanigans in one of the season finales. Meeting adversaries from the future that are team-ups between (or in one case, the child of) other ghosts for some reason would be real wack real fast. Oh, how about learning you’ve got a fucking time loop on your hands, but not realizing and trying to prevent yourself from becoming a massive fucking threat and inevitably failing. Legit the only reason shit didn’t hit the fan is because a fucking god of time decided to mess with the timeline just this once and saved Danny’s ass (and in the case of several people in his town, including his friends, lives). Imagine having that weighing on your shoulders- the only reason you’re not an unstoppable murder machine is because a fucking god decided to step off the couch for a moment.
Might have to put that last part under a read more or something but my point still stands

The Boys but Hogwarts Mystery or something idk
I’m tempted to make additional HPHM character, but everything in story will be taken literally, seriously and in an extremely completionist way.
Let me explain why…
MC is a superhuman. Bio product. Artificially created by government with the help of Dai Ryusaki’s researches. Even Dumbledore is in cahoots with that.
MC is set to cultivate multiple skills - becomes an animagus, enhances their legilimency, does absolutely every chore and event planning around Hogwarts, befriends nearly entire school and solves their problems, becomes Prefect and later Head Girl/Boy, passes OWLs and NEWTs in all O’s, plays and wins the entirety of Quidditch, makes any creature bow and tremble before them, closes every Cursed Vault, becomes a master Duelist, does every investigation for Hogsmeade ever, singlehandly runs and supervises the Clubs, keeps Forbidden Forest in tact, gains obscure titles and achievements for breakfast, does half of the work for both Ministry and St. Mungo.
Not to mention that they also have to deal with at least 8 people having a crush on them.
And all that in a span of 7 Years. Under Dumbledore’s careful watch and guidance.
For best efficiency MC’s “parents” are ordered to distant themselves from MC as much as possible, so MC develops immunity to stress on their own, and Merlin forbid they develop any human feelings or emotions. That’s why MC’s mother is so absent in their life throughout school years.
But the father? Oh, the father.
Peregrine. Peregrine is in fact, is a previous failed experiment. We know from their dialogue with Dumbledore - Peregrine had a painfully similar to MC school life. But somewhere along those years, up to Wizarding War something went wrong. He gained his own consciousness and woke up from Ministry’s influence on him. He found out what he is, and set himself to go against Ministry.
Dai Ryusaki was not a dark wizard, but we found out he feared his own inventions and attempted to prevent others from using it as it was dangerous. Peregrine’s curse has nothing to do with that amulet he’s carrying around, or anything from the outside. Peregrine’s curse occurred inside him because of the experiment and it IS what went wrong.
Peregrine made an underground organization and wants to take Ministry down for what they did to him, and now he gradually can’t take a single sneeze without aggravating himself and setting Ryusaki’s Fury off.
But what about MC? Peregrine can’t tell MC about their true nature. He fears to set MC’s fury as well, and doesn’t wish that upon them. Instead, he attempts to give MC bits of what Ministry took from them - he rebels against Ministry’s ways and dumps at least some parental affections to them. Although he fails at it because there’s so little time left before MC graduates and Ministry will inevitably snatch them to work for them and use as a weapon, and Peregrine is between 5 fires himself. All he can do is rushed and sometimes outright dangerous to himself and others decisions, that are more often than not taken over by R Fury without him even realizing that.
He knows he’s cursed. But he doesn’t always know when it’s showing. And he can’t accept any help because of his big “main character” ego. Despite all that he still dare I say, loves his kids and wants to prevent them from, in his eyes - greater evil.
What about others in the story?
Rakepick is a government experiment that went rogue as well. But she developed a lot more murderous and sociopathic tendencies, and possibly without use of Ryusaki’s research. While Peregrine and MC are set to charm and gather people around, Rakepick is not. She was meant to be efficient worker, problem solver. Until she became a problem…
She was sent to take Peregrine down. She pretended to join R on her own terms, and was meant to dismantle it and their Leader. She would go to any extent, and because of her frivolity she would even take down MC to hit Peregrine where it hurts. But it happened so, that someone else took the blow for MC and we know how that ends…
Rakepick wanted MC down, because she thought MC will end up like Peregrine. She’s not concerned about Ministry’s interests, she thinks that she knows better. However, after everything that went down, during Azkaban events, she sees and realizes where she was wrong, and just simply states that MC “has a good heart, and shouldn’t loose it”.
That concludes her character and her arc.
Jacob was not raised to be Ministry’s secret weapon. He gained a lot of similar to MC talent on his own, but he has too much free will and acts rather emotionally than rationally. That’s why Ministry dismisses him, as they simply don’t see potential in him.
Jacob does a bit of a better job at giving MC family experience, right under Ministry’s nose. Although, it’s still not perfect obviously. And, Jacob acts on the matters on his own, and gets hurt a lot, making mistakes that are inherent if you’re a human being.
Despite turning most of attention to MC for reasons stated above, Peregrine cares about Jacob as well. He desperately wants to be a normal human being, a father at that. Jacob wants to have his family as well. It just happened so, that their family is in this big of a mess.
MC’s mom is a mindless Ministry drone, I will not elaborate, we will never see her.
Who and why joins R? Why are people of R are so against the government, that they are willing to work with Peregrine?
R members we seen were walked over by government in one way or another. They all seem to be typical denizens of Knockturn Alley, but they end up there not because they’re inherently evil. But because, if in this world you fail at following the system - you end up at the bottom. They have no choice, but to live like this, because the system doesn’t give them another chance. Or, they suddenly do have a choice, and it’s to join an organization. It’s not perfect, it doesn’t have your best interests in mind. But it promises to stick it to Ministry, right?
And now, when majority of your organization are these people, they will inevitably do something stupid. So, when you send someone like Shiratori to retrieve your kids, someone like Shiratori will do something stupid, like attack them, or have 0 diplomacy and talking skills.
That’s why R appears to be an evil Cabal. They may not have “bad intentions, but they just don’t possess better skills and are full of spite and grudge.

This was originally going to be Ricky being touch starved, but idk what it is now, lol.
Cw: not super graphic, but mild description of death/decapitation and the aftermath (wow, wonder who that is)
Ricky knew very well what being touch starved and avoided felt like. When you consider that he started needing crutches and wheelchairs and canes and physical therapy, and a lot more, at the ripe old age of 6, less than a few months into first grade, it makes a bit of sense.
When his peers, who he's going to be around for the next 12 years, see him fall down at recess and come in 2 weeks later after way too many tests, using a pair of crutches, and struggling even more to talk for too long, he doesn't have many, or any, friends to get hugs from. When he can't run, no one is going to invite him to play with them, he can't keep up.
When Ricky can't get a word out at the age of 8, after 2 years of struggling, no one stands around waiting for him to talk on his AAC. Not when they could be playing with their friends. Not when they could be doing their reading. Not when they could be eating.
But Richard Potts was used to it. Complete indifference, that is. And getting ignored. Getting overlooked.
Of course, he isn't fully starved. He has his cats, and his parents. But when he turns 10, and food gets too hard to chew, family dinners suddenly go away, to be replaced with liquid meals. When he's 11 and his physical therapist says that he'd benefit from more therapy, to prevent his condition worsening, family movie nights go away too, as both of his parents take more shifts. His parents have long since taken a vow of silence, but no one's exactly sure how long it's going to last. They said that they'll be silent until he isn't.
Ricky isn't sure if they're wanting him to speak again, or to just pass away quicker.
He does know that one is a lot more likely than the other.
When he's 15, only a few weeks before the end of his sophomore year, Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg approaches him at the end of the school day.
"Hey Ricky! Would you like to join the Chamber Choir? We're trying to join some competitions for next year, but we need more than 3 members, and more than a few weeks of rehearsal." Her voice grates him out of his fantasy world of Zolar. He begins to click, quickly getting out a sentence.
-who is in it?- that jumps the 'Most Successful Girl In Town' into action
"So right now, there's me, Constance, and Noel! But you know, that's only 3 people, and for the Kiwanis International Singing Competition, you need to have at least 4 members to compete, and -" she continues to talk and talk, but as everyone learned very early on in their lives in Uranium City, Ricky tuned her out, and started to consider it. This choir was going to be a train wreck, that's for sure. Everyone knew that Noel and Ocean HATED each other. They couldn't stand in the same room for more than 3 minutes without blowing up on each other. Constance wouldn't be that bad to be around. Her little brother is nonverbal, and autistic like him, so he knows that she won't be like the rest of the people in this town. They could at least watch the chaos together from the sidelines. Ricky tunes back in, in order to agree to join, but suddenly reconsiders it, as Ocean continues. "Plus, I'm sure that Kiwanis won't even care that only 3 out of 4 members can sing! You'll probably give us an automatic first place, due to us being inclusive! Accessibility for all! You'll be our first place guarantee, won't you? Oh you're such a good kid Ricky! Thanks for joining, see you tomorrow after school for the first rehearsal!" She quickly skipped away. Ricky hadn't even agreed. Sure, he had pushed the 'sure' button on his AAC, but he hadn't finished or said a sentence yet. He glared towards Ocean, before deleting the sure from his sentence bar, and continuing on his way outside, in order to get to physical therapy in time.
Ricky was 16 when he was stopped from stepping on stage at the Kiwanis International Singing Competition.
"Hey, no technology on stage" the tech person, dressed in all black, said.
Mischa, who had joined only a few weeks ago, quickly jumped in.
"No, no! That is Ricky's voice, why can't take on stage?"
"The signals will block the choir mics. He can have it back afterwards, jeez." The tech person pushed their hand out, and Ricky quickly unlocked his AAC from its holder. Mischa looked pissed.
"Ricky's voice better come back same as now. Understood?" Mischa said, looking ready to beat up the tech kid
"yeah, it'll be right here, don't lose your balls" they said, setting it on the table just inside of the backstage area.
Ricky was 16 when he won second place in the Kiwanis International Singing Competition, as someone who couldn't physically sing, and as a member of the only choir in competition (at least at their size level)
Ricky was 16 and a half when Mischa Bachinski continued to shock him. After having physical therapy during school (that at least got him out of a test), he walked into choir practice, 15 minutes late. Not that they needed him, since Father Marcus was preparing them for the Winter Concert, where admin didn't want him to be playing piano or tambourine. So he wasn't doing anything anyways.
"Ricky! Why are you late?" Mischa almost yelled out. The formatting of his sentences has definitely gotten better over the last several months, but his accent hasn't faded.
Ricky got to his place in the choir, and started to respond, as Ocean was almost berating Mischa for interrupting the practice.
-physical therapy- Ricky responded
"Physical therapy? Why do you have physical therapy?" Mischa continued, interrupting Ocean.
-same reason for crutches. Muscle disorder-
"Oh shit man. So sorry. Fine, fine. We can continue singing, orphan a-hole." Mischa responds, half towards Ricky, and half towards Ocean. Luckily, he muttered his final two words under his breath, which saved him another lecture about swearing.
Choir practice went by quickly after that, especially since Ricky spent the entirety of it helping to save Zolar. But as they finished, he wasn't expecting Mischa to pull him aside.
"Ricky, I must say, you are strong! Physical therapy? I have heard that hurts. You are strong, almost as strong as Ukrainian men. You are cool, strong man, Ricky Potts." Mischa blurts out in the choir hallway. Before Ricky can even process the words, he's pulled into a tight hug from the Ukrainian adoptee.
Ricky was 16 and a half when he remembered for the first time in far too many years, what a hug truly feels like. With his parents taking more and more shifts, and seemingly only showing up to make sure that the cats and him are fed, and everyone being warned since they were 6 that Ricky was delicate, and that they had to be gentle, he hadn't been in hugged in forever. And before he could even fully process the emotions he was feeling, Mischa said something, kissed him on both cheeks, and jogged towards Noel.
Ricky doesn't get another hug from Mischa, or anyone really, for a while. In fact, it's not until his senior year, when at the Kiwanis International Singing Competition (held at the Fall Fair!), where they are once again the smallest choir, and only choir in their competition size, and a shy girl joins the choir, a mere hour before the competition.
Ricky is 17 when he meets a girl, with the greenest eyes, who's just as shy and odd as he is.
Once again, he's not allowed to take his AAC on stage, but she offers to hold it. He can't help but to trust her. Afterwards, as they listen to the other choirs, she sits at the back with him, and talks with him. Not at him. She stops and allows him to talk, makes sure that she hears and listens.
Finally, the small choir decides to split up, and do their favorite things.
"Ricky, would you like to join me at the ring toss? We can ride the Graviton afterwards, if you'd like! There's a very pretty doll as a prize." She asks, then rocks on her feet, as she waits for a response.
-sure, I would be happy to- and at that, she quickly leads them both through the slight crowd and towards the nearly empty ring toss booth.
"Hello! Here's 5 dollars for the ring toss! I want to win that dolly over there!" She exclaims, handing the 5 dollar bill to the only other person there, the carnie worker.
"Here's your bucket of rings, it's a yellow prize, so try to get it on a yellow bottle" the underpaid worker mutters, unenthused. The girl (why can't Ricky remember her name?) begins tossing rings, and at the final one, lands it on a yellow bottle. The worker silently takes down the doll, the only doll like it, and hands it to the girl in exchange for the bucket.
"Ricky, you're really imaginative! And super smart. What should I name my dolly? Everything I'm thinking of feels wrong." She asks, as they start making their way towards the Graviton.
The doll looks nearly exactly like her. And a name quickly comes to Ricky's mind. -Savannah-
"That's perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you Ricky!" the girl jumps in excitement, before enveloping Ricky in a hug. The first one he's had since Mischa's last year. She releases not nearly as quick as Mischa did, and stays there a while. But she does release her warm hug eventually, and cautiously sets the porcelain headed doll in her bag. The duo continues to make their way towards the Graviton, and as they arrive, the workers quickly allow them both to bypass the line due to his crutches. As they get escorted to the front, Ricky and the girl set down their things, which for Ricky, includes his crutches, after he's instructed to do so. Before they get on, he grabs his AAC one final time.
-help please?- and looks hopefully at the girl
"Of course!" She offers her shoulder, and a supportive arm around his waist. Her touch is like a furnace to Ricky, as she helps him up the stairs and into the spinning ride. "Is it okay if I hold your hand? I've never ridden this before, and it's kinda scary" she asks, extending a nearly begging hand. He takes it, grateful that someone wants to touch him, let alone asks for it. Most people in this town think that he'll crumble to dust if they breathe on him, so they avoid him at all costs. This girl (doesn't her name start with a P? It starts with a P, right? Right?) is an extremely welcome change.
After they get off, (the P-name girl didn't let go of his hand the entire ride. That shocked him) Ocean quickly finds them.
"You two, come on! Constance wants to ride the Cyclone!" She gets behind them and ushers them both forward towards the old wooden rollercoaster.
"Ocean, are you sure the Cyclone is safe to ride? It looks like it could derail at any moment. It's a safety hazard to have a loop on a wooden rollercoaster. The wood normally can't support the weight and force of the coaster." The girl says, concerned.
"nonsense. If you want to, you can sit out, if you're that worried." Ocean responds, as they find the rest of the choir, waiting by the fortune telling machine. The girl suddenly realizes something.
"I left my bag at the Graviton! I'll be right back, so don't wait up." She quickly runs away towards the place they just were, and Ricky realizes that she does in fact not have her bag on her. Ocean doesn't mention it, as they fully meet up with the rest of the choir.
"Guys, we have to follow Blackwood tradition! Let's get our fortune read, and then ride the Cyclone!" Constance exclaimed, sounding and looking very enthusiastic, while her smile doesn't meet her eyes. She looks hurt, and to be in pain, but seems to be hiding it well enough that no one else notices.
"Fine. And afterwards, we're going on the ferris wheel to do some Gruber tradition." Noel states, picking at his nails. As Constance inserts the coins, Ricky begins to worry about the new girl. He knows that it's quite a walk from here to the Graviton, but he doesn't want to ride alone.
"Be sure to ride the Cyclone!" The machine says, after saying a randomly selected "lucky number" and catchphrase. The choir shrugs, and gets in line. Much like at the Graviton, they get moved right to the front, due to Ricky's disability. As soon as they're about to get on, the girl sprints back, sets her bag down by a bench, and sneaks under the rope to jump to where the rest of them are.
"Sorry it took me so long, but I'll help you get onto the ride, if you'd like!" Ricky nods, as the coaster stops, and the group of kids gets off. The worker has a basket for the choir to set their stuff in, so Ricky sets in his crutches and his AAC, and the girl helps him into the cart. As the coaster starts, she is visibly scared, and begins muttering facts about lions and lionesses under her breath, low enough that Ricky can't hear full words. They speed towards the loop, and Ricky just keeps trying to remember her name as he's holding her hand.
'it's a P name, that's for sure, but what is it?'
"RICKY GET DOWN!" she screams, grabbing his shoulders, and roughly shoving his head towards his lap, as the world goes weightless.
The pressure of her hands on his shoulders stops being a pressure, and time travels in slow motion, as Ricky feels drops of warm liquid splattering his entire body, and the body corpse next to him goes completely limp. He looks up, her head is gone, completely. He turns around, and sees the brunette head smashing into the back of the cart, shattering into a bloody, brainy mess, and two brunette braids, that quickly get flung into the corn field around the farm, likely never to be seen again . He looks forward, and blinks as the ground meets his eyes. One final thought goes through his head 'Penny!' and the world goes dark as the cart hits the ground.

So this morning as I struggled to want to get up an AU came to me. I've been struggling on how to word some of this so bare with me.
This got longer than I thought it would but here:
Lois Lane and Clark Kent find out they're having a child later on they find out it's a girl, they're overjoyed and shit. But their relationship is on the down low, and everyone in Metropolis is convinced that Lois and Superman not only have a thing for each other but are together(which they aren't wrong). So when Lex Luthor finds out Lois is pregnant he comes up with a plan(cause his blad ass thinks he's so smart). And he does succeed.
Clark has to go off planet for [intergalactic problem here] and so he's gone for a few months during Lois’s pregnancy. So while Superman is away Lex is like ‘yes my plan will go so much easier now’ and so Lois gives birth, after she(the baby) is put in the baby ward thing, Lex steals their daughter. He gives her this serum that (in theory) blocks her powers till something triggers them. It does work but he doesn't know what will trigger it or how well it works.
He decides to put her as far away from them as possible on Earth tho. So she's in France getting adopted by the lovely couple who own a bakery and want a child. They can't due to biological complications, and Lex can watch them easily ( he knows French ig for this ). And they get to name her cause she doesn't have name.
So enter Marinette Dupain-Cheng the adoptive daughter Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng. There are some things they just can't explain about their daughter, they love her very much. Shenanigans my beloved, shall ensue.
But she's so small and doesn't have a lot of muscle how is she carrying this bag of flower at the age of 10? OH NO BOILING WATER GOT ON HER SHES GONNA GET BURN MAR- oh, she's okay...? MARINETTE DONT STARE AT THE SUN! They go to the doctor to check her eyesight, she has perfect vision. Marinette the fastest kid in her class, faster than Kim and Alix, they're playing hide and seek? Oh Mari is up a tree!
Back with Clark and Lois, Superman threatens Lex or talks to Bruce or something idk. Jon is made or born 2 years later(idk his story sometimes he's a clone sometimes he's not???!) when Mari is 2, then two more years later Con is born(I know for a fact he is born) so Mari is like 4. Bruce is doing the blood thing, but Lex has that shit under strict supervenience. And while raising the boys they learn what they should look for.
Tom and Sabine conclude that Mari is a Meta, talk to her about this when she is like 12, than when she is almost 14 she searches this stuff up and she's like “okay, no powers” well that gets thrown in her face when she was left with being Ladybug. Lex can't watch her anymore cause Paris closed itself off!
How being Ladybug affects Marinette:
She is still really strong even with that serum not letting her be at full strength so now that she has the Miraculous it enhances her already enhanced strength so she has to pull her punches, and this is one of the main reasons why she uses her yo-yo and her brain in battles rather than brute force, cause she could kill the akuma. At least she thinks so, who knows, depends on the writer!
Post [What-ever-the-fuck version of Gabriel we're dealing with]:
There are two ways this can go! 1) Mari during her time as Ladybug and Guardian activated the trigger so she could use all her half-Kryptonian-ness or 2) somehow it wasn't triggered yet but it was at some point while being around JL. Probably from being around Superman and her body went “FATHERRRRR”
And why Clark hasn't figured out this is his daughter after meeting her? Magic suit y'all! Prevents him from using x-ray vision on her, so he doesn't see her hybrid organs. One thing is for certain Bruce wants to adopt her! He can't of course cause she has already been adopted, so instead, he offers her a place to stay in Gotham, all paid, and any school of her choosing in Gotham. She says she’ll think about it, and when she researched she was surprised, and decided why not! She can fight villains, build her career, see what she can do with her new activated power, *cough* get all that pent-up rage out *COUGH*!
One big problem tho, the Meta and Magic users ban, so she talks to him again, he's like I'm willing to adjust my ban, then he does a double take cause “meta?” cause guess what Brucie, you wanna take in a meta-magic user! So he adjusts his rules.
Time passes, a long time depends, but Clark and Lois go to this gala being reporters and friends with Bruce. This gala is also Mari’s first. She's been doing great, other than almost burning her room in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. But it's fiiiiine, they're all learning, and Damian has his suspensions.
Clark was area of Bruce having another kid in his wings, and he does his x-ray things like he does all the batfam, and that's when he sees it! She wasn't human, she was part human. So he takes her Bruce, and is like “you can't have this child” “why tf can't I!” “this is our missing daughter!!”
So after the gala they all sit down and talk this out, they call Jon and Kon to get their asses here to see their sister! They talk to Tom and Sabine and they’re willing to share custody especially cause of how this happened! Anyway big family in the end.
This has probably been done somewhere but I needed to get this written out. I really want to write this, but if anyone does tag me please! PLEASE!
Bonus points for any salt or angst. Just sayin
Edit: it really shows how I didn't know about Kon and it pains me everytime I get a notification for this. Excuse my dumbassery.
Jon is born two years after Mari, Kon is made whenever the fuck he’s made, so Kon is like twoish year's older than Mari growth wise?? Cause Damian and Tim are like five/six years apart? (supposed to be anyway but who gives a shit, apparently not the DC writers, cause like aren't they supposed to be idk 7-9 years apart?? I don't care really it gives better annoying the shit out each other I'm specific ways while in the same household prevogligous)
They call Kon cause, “you're family regardless and we found our daughter we want you to meet her, get yo ass over here”

my issue with The Sea Beast
so i recently watched The Sea Beast and really loved it. a lot of the visuals were stunning (i was absolutely wow-ed during that one scene of drops of water hitting the deck during a battle). i love the pirate atmosphere and the “world of beasts” concept always calls for interesting designs, such as the Giant Crab.
i also loved Maisie. as a black woman, she was the biggest reason i was drawn to the film. i was so excited to see what kind of journey she’d go on, and seeing how many women in general are given roles in the story was pretty great. Sarah, the red head sailor, the laid back carriage driver, etc. not to mention that found family is always a good plot. the movie just checked boxes all around lol!
i just have two issues. one minor and one… pretty major:
the issues
i would’ve had it where in the beginning of the movie after Maisie breaks out of the orphanage, as she goes through town it’s shown that she’s highly loved by the townsfolk. maybe it’s cause she’s been there the longest and knows many of them first hand, or the others find her curiosity abt things to be endearing, or for any other reasons, idk. i’d just put this tweak in bc personally, all the townsfolk siding with her in the end felt a bit rushed. i knew Maisie was spitting, but i definitely thought “omg no one’s gonna believe her :(“ bc how would they? but the townsfolk just immediately do so lol. by having it where we know she’s already highly respected/admired, their unanimous support would feel more natural.
now this is the “pretty major one”. it was a concern i had before i watched, one that unfortunately stayed with me while watching, but that was kinda sorta not really but kinda pacified by the ending? my issue is with Maisie and Jacob’s dynamic.
(no more numbered points bc we’re abt to go into an essay)
going into the movie, i was worried Jacob’s character would overshadow Maisie’s. i already knew most fans would obnoxiously view them in that way, but i was hoping the movie itself wouldn’t and would give them equal development. unfortunately, up until the finale, that hope of mine was crushed.
a compliment i saw that was given to TSB is that it lets Maisie be a child. but i disagree, i think the story throws child!Maisie out the window pretty quickly. after they get shipwrecked, i found myself constantly wondering exactly how old Maisie was supposed to be, as more often than not she was more mature than grown adult Jacob.
let me put this in perspective:
about 80% of the film is Maisie, a young black girl, having to prevent, teach, and beg Jacob, an adult white man, to not be violent and aggressive. do yall see how this kind of arc could be a little disturbing, to say the least?
i am not saying that Maisie was in danger when with Jacob, im merely pointing out how ridiculous it is that the whole plot revolves around it being a young black girl’s job to educate a grown white man on no longer being violent.
but ofc this kind of narrative isnt specific to The Sea Beast. this is the standard in most “young person schools the older generation on how to do better” stories. Coco, HTTYD, Encanto, Moana, the list goes on. but in the case of TSB, it’s an issue bc it largely overlooks the characters’ racial identities when thats just not smthg that can be ignored. and no i am not saying TSB should’ve been a cultural movie, it having an anti-imperialist narrative is fine. great even! but if you’re going to have a diverse cast, then at bare minimum you need diverse writing to match.
representation in media, especially children’s media, is desperately needed and TSB is a decent example of progress. but it is by no means perfect. when it comes to representing marginalized communities, how many times does it need to be said that some things (tropes, archetypes, themes, etc.) aren’t a One Size Fits All?
comparisons
i’m going to compare two movies that come to mind. a lot of ppl compare TSB to HTTYD, but i think it has much more in common with Moana than anything else. it shares similarities with Treasure Planet as well.
Treasure Planet and Moana also have the theme of a younger person having an older one learn and grow alongside them. John Silver develops as much as Jim Hawkins and Maui as much as Moana, but it is still clear it’s Jim and Moana’s stories as we get more time and focus on their characters than their counterparts.
in Moana, Maui starts the film already wrong and committing an injustice as he stole Te Fiti’s heart and caused her to turn into the dangerous and violent Te Kā. Moana journeys with Maui with the hopes of making a difference and helps him grow into a better person along the way (sound familiar?) Moana’s arc is to find herself and save her home. Maui’s arc is learning he has value not because of but despite his abilities, and to not put others down for one’s own glory. they both have their own arcs, but not once does Moana waste time to sit Maui down at a classroom desk and desperately try to teach him selflessness. her goal is bigger than him. as Jim’s journey in Treasure Planet is bigger than John.
but in TSB, Maisie sits Jacob down and tries to “educate” him several times on how to have sympathy. sadly, her development takes a significant backseat to Jacob’s, and what little she does have is rushed as all hell. Maisie realizes Red is a friend 5 seconds after meeting her. she gets over her parents’ image as “heroes” and comes to the conclusion that they were flawed 5 seconds after that. and then at the end, she realizes all of it is the fault of The Crown after a 3-second book searching scene! ffs let her grow slowly! the film makes it a point to say she has the right to speak, but doesnt allow her arc the right to take up too much time in the narrative.
WHY does Maisie have to speed run her own progress and spend the remainder of the time helping a white man through his?! let them develop naturally alongside one another instead of constantly playing teacher and student. i saw someone say “it’s funny how it’s like Maisie adopted Jacob instead of the other way around” and that person was joking ofc but that’s literally how the plot comes across. TSB does NOT let Maisie be a child and it was so disappointing to see.
possible solutions?
some ways this could’ve been rectified:
switch Sarah and Jacob. this could’ve added the subplot of Maisie having always admired Sarah in particular and wanting to become exactly like her someday. then as the truth about the beasts unfolds, Maisie realizes that the hunters aren’t as great as she thought and that instead of following in somebody else’s footsteps, she should make her own. this would make her standalone speech at the end hit even more than it already does. it also would’ve been interesting for Sarah herself, who is known for being “the most loyal 2nd in command ever”, to over time lose her loyalty the more she learns abt the beasts.
if the main pairing had to be interracial, why did Jacob have to be white? for some reason whenever this type of bond is brought up, most ppl’s first go to is a white person being involved. i promise, they are not a requirement for interracial themes.
and include more scenes about Maisie’s own development! we have way more than enough about her parents as heroes, but what abt her actual relationship with them? she talks abt them as if theyre nothing but symbolic figures. were they close? and if not, have her address that too. how was her time in the orphanage? the kids all seemed to like her, but when she meets up with Jacob, its like hes the only family shes ever known in years. slow down her turn from “hunters are cool” to “hunters are wrong” and make it develop over time instead of it being a lightning quick arc. and maybe, besides beasts, have her and Jacob have a side hobby/interest in common so that we can have some clue what theyre going to be doing after they give up hunting for good.
conclusion
with all that said, i did like Maisie and her speech at the end was beautiful. kudos to the script writers and Zaris-Angel’s VAing bc her words abt the The Crown being the one at fault were very impactful. i was so proud of her! if only the story allowed Maisie to be more of a person and less of a mouthpiece, then i probably would’ve even cried.

I think I might be more of an extrovert than I was aware of.
Just with how I was bullied relentlessly quite literally every single day in school back then, and how shy I am and how I straight up do not know how to talk to people,
I never knew.
I think the odds are I'm an ambivert with a slightly higher leaning towards extrovertedness but I don't know
Anyhoo, I drew more pictures while I was at church today :D I'm still not used to not having an undo button
They're under the keep reading . Plus a huge info dump about a few alternate universe things
The au Hop, better known as Reaper. He's super fun to draw
Tumblr media
After that I tried drawing Grusha from memory. I don't draw him as much as other characters but I decided to give it a try anyway. Something looks off but idk what and it's very funny to me somehow
Tumblr media
I don't know if I got the pokeball thing on the correct side of his scarf or not. I need to look at a picture of him to be sure. The beast au version of him that I have drawn before and look at more doesn't have the pokeball thing so that's not something I'm confident about remembering
I drew the beast au Raihan from memory. I have drawn him with a different number of tails over the times I've drawn him, but he's got 9 of them. He just likes keeping them wrapped up into one large fluffy tail. The number of tails I draw on him is totally dependent on how fluffy I want to draw the tail(s). In this he's got two so- not the maximum amount of thick fluffy but almost
Tumblr media
Another drawing of Reaper. This au Hop is by far my favorite anything to draw
Tumblr media
And then there's this. It was time to go before I could finish but unless something prevents me from going to church next week, I'll finish it next sunday
Tumblr media
They are besties. Reaper's Leon has come to Ryuki for answers before. There's an entire backstory in my head and I'm gonna try and make it brief. Anyhoo, Reaper was separated from his Leon for an unfathomable amount of years (the number has no name but - a single year for Reaper is a googolplex to the 49th power) And Reaper was separated from his Leon for 9 Reaper years plus an extra few thousand normal years. Why? Well, Reaper used to look like a normal Hop but he was tricked by an evil monster thing and then flew out into space using the monster's power and - ceased to be- after flying for so long. Except he and the evil monster thing were reincarnated fused together and that's why he looks that way. He's not evil like the monster because another monster thing(a good one) made the evil monster less powerful. Time was left paused in Reaper's home universe which is how the Leon would have still been alive to be reunited with Reaper eventually.
Oh yeah the thing with Ryuki.
Reaper's addicted to exploring the multiverse and eventually found the universe with that normal looking Ryuki (who's actually a shapeshifter). Reaper got struck by something while flying through a portal and was left weakened and injured. Specifically, an evil creature with the power to steal immortality and life force, though failed to do anything to Reaper other than give him a temporary lack of magic in a way could have resulted in a permanent death for him if he were fatally wounded in this state. The Ryuki found Reaper in the weak condition and saved him from an attacking alien creature and took care of him until he was all better. Reaper owes his life to the shapeshifter Ryuki.
Anyhoo, one day, while Reaper was flying through the space between universes, he discovers that the universe with the Ryuki who saved him in it had blown up. So Reaper uses some seriously powerful magic to bring it back.
Nobody in that brought-back universe has any memory of the old universe. Not even the Ryuki. Reaper remembers.
Basically, this Ryuki has no freaking clue why Reaper feels so calmingly safe around him.
Back to the thing with Leon... for a very long time after Reaper is reunited with his Leon, the two of them are distant. Reaper doesn't remember his original life and Leon is overwhelmed by how much Reaper has been through without him and so it takes time for them to feel like family. As fun and silly as Reaper is, he can be shy around certain people for certain reasons. "This is someone he's supposed to know and yet he knows nothing about him" Reaper's main reason for being distant is -- 99% that and 1% his lack of memory. Though the lack of memory is technically the cause of that so those percentages may be broken idk. The Leon is particularly worried about how good of a brother he is to Reaper, who has ascended to cosmic entity status since they were separated.
So yeah. That Leon would see Reaper getting along so well with the Ryuki and ask him why Reaper is so close to him and Ryuki would have no answers.
Off topic from Ryuki, Reaper gets along better with a few other au Leons that he met and became friends with during his travels than his own Leon (before he finally gets used to being around him) and that made Reaper's Leon really insecure.
It was a very wholesome moment when for the first time, Reaper in all his cat-behavior, chose to randomly sit on the lap of his Leon. Leon refused to get up until Reaper did. He wanted to enjoy finally feeling accepted and to not disturb the kitty. He took the day off of work
I describe Reaper as a cat a lot but he's really a cow. The evil monster he's fused with is something of a minotaur after all. Reaper just - acts like a cat a lot

I'd gotten a herniated back disc while I was in grad school and I think it was from carrying things wrong every day while student teaching?, but I can never be sure because my dumb ass was also working another job and doing class and extracurriculars (including dance! smh) even after severe leg pain settled in from sciatica... and then I didn't get it checked on for months because I was too busy lmao. Luckily it also wasn't bad enough to need surgery but I literally still have the herniated disc, it doesn't go away 🙃 Your injuries still sound scary to me though--dislocating anything and partially tearing your tendon seem painful as hell 😟
Felix really is the best! I'm glad things were always going to end up fine with him. But I can't even imagine what's gonna happen with Y/n's parents! I think they can only make things worse/more complicated, so I just hope SOMETHING will be okay for Y/n by the end 🥺
Take your time working on Chapter 20! I'm sure there's so much to figure out, especially if there's two possible endings you're trying to pick between! We'll be waiting patiently for whatever you decide and then hit us (emotionally) with 🫡 I'm sure nobody's in any rush for this good story to end!
-👻✌️
Literally ranting again and I apologize! I need to learn to stfu.
Oh my God, that sounds painful! But you in grad school sounds like me in high school! I hope your herniated disk doesn't give you too much trouble. I'm used to my shoulder dislocating. Apparently once your shoulder, any joint I think but don't quote me I nearly failed anatomy, you're more likely to dislocate it again. And I dislocated my shoulder when I was three bc of my dad 🙃 but I'm used to it. I dislocated it a few times when I was playing volleyball and doing nothing. I normally can feel when it's about to pop out so I can just not fully rotate my arm to prevent it or quickly pop it back in. As for my tendon, I partially tore it in 2016 bc I slipped down the stairs at school (not like dramatically but like the last couple of steps) and and then literally had a game that same day and rolled it (quite literally somersaulted on the tennis court) and because I was winning, my coach refused to pull me out of the match bc my teammates were getting their asses whooped that day and she wanted another win since I already won one and lost the other for the day. Luckily it was the last set and I had the ball to serve so I just stood there and served the ball where my opponent couldn't get it to end it fast, hobble off the court when I won, and told my coach I was sleeping in the van for the rest of the day. (24 year old me and 17 year old me are two different beasts). But the one good thing about the pandemic is that I was forced to sit around and rest my leg so literally 4 years later I can walk around without pain now.
(sidenote: idk if anyone else knows how high school tennis matches go or if it's the standard bc I couldn't play in university but there are six total "groups" playing for each school. So it would be three singles players and three teams of doubles playing against another school's three singles and three doubles and you would have to play all three people/pairs in your group. So I was a singles player and I had three matches to 6 sets back to back to back when we played)
Oh yeah, I couldn't bring myself to hurt Felix anymore. I've had what was going to with her parents, or at least her mom, since the beginning so I know how that part is going to go. It's just wrapping up everything around that.
If I chose the first ending I *might* be able to work the second ending as an epilogue but I kind of don't want to do that. Idk, we'll see what I come up with after a good night's sleep and stocking shelves. I'm not in a rush to end LR either bc I have no plans for another smau yet, if I even want to do one. But if I do, it might either be a Lix centered one or a MInnie one. But I'm both in a rush and not in a rush to finish.

SHARE 5 FUN FACTS ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER (tw: death):
Matt is the younger of two brothers and was raised by a single mother. His childhood was relatively calm and average and he wasn’t exactly the most well-behaved. He often got in trouble, mostly due to his mothers lenient nature and his own lack of respect for rules and possible consequences of breaking said rules.
Throughout high school, he was fairly popular. Where his brother Ethan was more academically inclined, Matt was always slacking and found more pleasure in sports. Although he never took that seriously either and would waste most of his free time drinking and smoking and attending parties.
He used to be a bit of a ladies man, had a solid group of friends closest of which was his friend Jacob.
The turning point for Matt came midway through his senior year of high-school when him and Jacob were driving back home from a party. They were both wasted, the music was loud and although the weather was pretty calm that night, the approaching car took him by surprise and he swerved off the road. Jacob was pronounced dead on the scene, the driver in the other car was badly injured and later passed in the hospital. Matt was the only survivor, passing with months of physical therapy and years of psychological one.
After this he gave up drinking, driving and only occasionally smokes weed but doesn’t indulge heavily as it prevented him from actually moving on.
He got a job at Essex where his mom worked as an admin assistant, and has been working in maintenance ever since. One of his talents is the ability to fix almost anything without much struggle so he is pretty well-respected in his work and he enjoys it. He also volunteers, mostly to deal with that survivors guilt.
Working at Essex also has its blessings and challenges. He enjoys meeting new people and learning new things on various topics. But he absolutely resents the gossip flowing around, especially ones pertaining to him. The sheer amount of alcohol consumed around him also makes him sick to his stomach.
Is no longer a ladies man, is actually very calm and perceptive individual and just kind of minds his own business. He’s also secretly wishing to go back to school and get his GED, but doesn’t think that’s in the cards for him, or that he deserves a second chance.
WHERE DOES YOUR CHARACTER LIVE (please pick one):
Living with his brother off-campus

Remember that Lilypad thing I'm working on? I've kind of hit a mental block, so I'm asking for help/feedback/advice on a few things. (I blame James Potter and my brains inability to make him angsty)
James in this whole thing in general. I'm pretty sure I want him to be more light leaning then the others, but in doing so I kind of forget he exists??? How does one write James Potter in a way that makes sense.
Remus. He doesn't have a whole lot of things in the main story, but the only thing I've been able to write in this thing is so soft and it just feels off??? So; what would remus be like in 6th year? How would he respond to Lily and Sirius spending whole days together without telling anyone what they're doing?
Sirius has an extreme amount of control over his magic in this (he has to) but I want him to lose it somewhere. But I can't seem to find a good reason for him to lash out and lose control. Like his magic is always noticeable, but he always reacts on time to prevent disaster. Not this time. They've left Hogwarts and idk who, what, how or where, but Sirius loses it. So; reasons for Sirius to lose all control on his magic?
I think that's it for now? I'm gonna try and make something of the mess my brain has made of this lmaooo
🤩🤩
I will give you everything for this, oh my god.
Putting this under a cut because long.
Ah, James. He's a pure little ray of sunshine, so that makes perfect sense. But James, while having angst, seems to have a different sort than the rest of them, or so I've always thought. It's a little more muted. He holds it in better, doesn't let it show as much. James was raised well, raised right. He was loved unconditionally. He didn't have siblings stealing his spotlight, no past trauma to speak of. For James Potter, everything fell into place while he was growing up. He never struggled or wanted for anything, and I think he took that for granted. I don't think he realized just how much until he met his friends, watched their turmoil, all the things they suffered through and endured. But even then, even with it being closer to home for him than it ever had been before, it's still distant. He just doesn't know the way the rest of them know. I think James spent the majority of his school career walking around in a sort of protected bubble that not much could pop. He's mister glass is always full, optimistic, things will work out, just live your life and love one another, things will all work out. And I don't think that really changed until he saw the toll the war was taking on the world, especially those closest to him. James is positive to a fault, he's pure light, even taking into consideration his cruel tendencies with bullying (but that all falls back onto how he was raised, getting what he wanted, always having love; he's a bit spoiled, and those seem to be the ones who start bullying without much provocation). He sees people's differences and he accepts them completely unless they give him a reason not to (like with Snape's sullen sourness and nastiness from the beginning). He responds to negativity with negativity and then moves on with himself. And I could ramble on about James Potter for years, and I'm not sure that any of this helps you at all, but if it doesn't, let me know and I will happily continue talking.
I dunno, I think the softness works, because Remus is soft unless given a reason not to be. I think he'd be curious until he finds out. He might even poke at it a bit, try to get some mild answers, but I think, so long as he thought Sirius and Lily were safe with whatever they were doing, he'd leave it alone and not pry. I think he'd see their time spent together as a good thing, because Sirius needs as many positive people in his corner as he can get. It would only be when something happened to show danger or risk that he'd start pushing for answers and to maybe help. But I also think he'd be watching like a hawk without being obvious about it. Remus is wicked clever, he catches on to things even when others think he's not. He's quiet and seemingly tamed, but there's a fire boiling just under the surface, waiting for that perfect moment to erupt and circle around everyone he loves in a protective shield. If Sirius or Lily get hurt, he'd be a silent, towering inferno of rage and heartbreak that neither of them had trusted enough to ask for help. I think he'd come down hard on Sirius, but not by shouting or showing obvious anger. He'd be quiet about it, whispers like whiplashes that crack and sting worse than any shouts or harsh words ever could with their obvious disappointment and confusion.
Sirius doesn't care about himself. He just doesn't. Not in the way he should, at least. What hits Sirius the hardest, really sends him over that edge in a blaze of fury and uncontrollable wrath is seeing those he loves threatened or hurt. So, if they've left Hogwarts, they're in the Order, they're fighting the war. Bad things happen in wars. People get injured, they die. So maybe one of his friends gets injured or threatened? Maybe they're even captured temporarily? And he loses it, lets it all fly free, no control left, a terrifying force that would make the strongest of men quake in their boots. But they're also dealing with there being a spy in the Order. No one knows who it is, who to trust. There's going to be accusations thrown around. And who are the first others would turn those accusations on? A Black who most of his family is connected to the other side and werewolf. Maybe that would do it too?
