His mother is a civil rights lawyer, while his father is a former research scientist for a biotech company and now a tenured professor/Research Chair in Science and Society at McGill and working on yet another book (this one’s about the secretive legal agreements surrounding agricultural big data to trace how it is used and with what consequences). Growing up, Isaiah was close with his parents but in the past few years, that relationship has become strained.

During his freshman year of high school, Isaiah found out his older sister Yael is his actual birth mother. She’s sixteen years older than him. His birth father? Literally just some guy from Scarsdale ksjnfskj. Isaiah has literally no desire to reach out to him, given how he turned his back on his “sister”, and he doesn’t think much about him at all tbh.

He listened almost exclusively to Ween from ages 11 to 15. But other than that, he’s into a lot of ‘00s and ‘90s indie rock like Superchunk, Pavement, Sebadoh, and the Flaming Lips. This is by and large influenced by his sister.

Matt is the younger of two brothers and was raised by a single mother. His childhood was relatively calm and average and he wasn’t exactly the most well-behaved. He often got in trouble, mostly due to his mothers lenient nature and his own lack of respect for rules and possible consequences of breaking said rules. 

Throughout high school, he was fairly popular. Where his brother Ethan was more academically inclined, Matt was always slacking and found more pleasure in sports. Although he never took that seriously either and would waste most of his free time drinking and smoking and attending parties. 

He used to be a bit of a ladies man, had a solid group of friends closest of which was his friend Jacob. 

The turning point for Matt came midway through his senior year of high-school when him and Jacob were driving back home from a party. They were both wasted, the music was loud and although the weather was pretty calm that night, the approaching car took him by surprise and he swerved off the road. Jacob was pronounced dead on the scene, the driver in the other car was badly injured and later passed in the hospital. Matt was the only survivor, passing with months of physical therapy and years of psychological one. 

After this he gave up drinking, driving and only occasionally smokes weed but doesn’t indulge heavily as it prevented him from actually moving on. 

He got a job at Essex where his mom worked as an admin assistant, and has been working in maintenance ever since. One of his talents is the ability to fix almost anything without much struggle so he is pretty well-respected in his work and he enjoys it. He also volunteers, mostly to deal with that survivors guilt. 

Working at Essex also has its blessings and challenges. He enjoys meeting new people and learning new things on various topics. But he absolutely resents the gossip flowing around, especially ones pertaining to him. The sheer amount of alcohol consumed around him also makes him sick to his stomach.

Wendy’s parents almost immediately decided it would be invested in Wendy’s education.

Wendy is a proponent of the opposite of minimalism, which is Clutterbitch. She has various knick knacks and pictures and posters, as well as plenty of bins and storage to keep all her products, books, snacks, etc. There is no surface left untouched, let’s say that, and most likely a string of fairy lights somewhere. She also has a couple half-dead plants by her window, a STAYC poster on her wall, and a collection of postcards from her sister who travels around the country with the nonprofit she works for.

Wendy has a sister named Nell (full named Eleanor Sanderson). And the truth is that Nell is her cousin but when Nell’s parents couldn’t take care of her for a variety of reasons, Wendy’s parents Bahar and Terrence took her in.

She is the 4th of 6 siblings and was raised in a very crowded house which pushed her to try and stand out. From young she excelled in academics and enjoyed rigid structures which allowed her to acquire knowledge. 

Very ambitious and dedicated, from young she would try to start up businesses like a lemonade stands in summer, fundraisers for local charities, anything that could help her put her knowledge to practice and transfer those to skills. 

Always had a good knack for making money or finding solutions to problems, she’s very solution oriented which can be annoying when someone is just trying to vent or explain an annoying situation they encountered. 

Very vocal about her opinions. But will change her mind if proven right, she doesn’t think people have a right to tell her she’s ‘wrong’ on a topic where she simply has more/better information. If one can’t support their perspective on something, then it’s a matter of opinion and she doesn’t really fuck with opinions. 

Would die and kill for her best friend and no one is allowed to look at her wrong. She absolutely can’t do any wrong in her eyes and that’s end of.
