Another morning another day

I've been thinking a lot about going to the animal shelter

#speculation nation #there r many cats there and i have an aching spot available for one #passively thinking about getting a kitten. just bc id enjoy getting to raise a cat for once #and i think tally would be a good big sister given how much she groomed cassy #at the same time tho i wanna adopt a cat that might not otherwise be adopted so quickly. aka an adult cat #& also like with tally. i very purposefully picked out the loud black cat bc everyone was passing her up #but she was YELLINGGG at me from the cage. and i was like 'oh alright' and took her home #and now shes my sweet darling girl. she just needed like a year to chill out so she is no longer a chaos demon lmao #it's also hard to know what youre getting with a kitten. and it's a lot of resposibility. so like. idk. #but also. A/n: Husk lowkey being the best dad, he just loves his kits so much 🥺.

It wasn't his fault really, it came with the territory of being a cat demon, he just couldn't help it. A deep rumble escaped his chest as he refused to look at you. He didn't know why it embarrassed him so much, you were his wife after all.

"You don't gotta watch you know!"

Sitting up in the bed you gave Husk a large grin, your son Coltrane asleep in your lap as Harry did his best to escape his father. "You think I'm gonna pass this chance up?"

Letting out a small scoff, Husk continued to try and clean the kit but his son was doing everything in his power to escape his father's grasp. His tiny fingers sinking into Husk's paw.

"Doesn't that hurt?"

Letting his son go, he watched the tiny kit hiss at him. Black fur standing on end as Harry bounded over to you, tiny wings fluttering. "Nah, it feel's like a pinch if anything." He muttered. "You can't hide with your mother forever."

A hiss was his own reply.

It was a relaxing day, relaxing enough for Husk to not have to do his job, relaxing enough that he was able to clean his children in peace. His tongue dragging across the top of Marylin's head. A deep purr emitting from both of their chests.

Harry and Coltrane laying on each of his shoulders fast asleep already haven been cleaned. Too focused on his task, Husk didn't even realize that he had an audience watching him.

"Oh man! Where's Vox when you need him?"

Head snapping up, tongue out. Husk's eye's went wide. A puff of Marylin's white fur sticking up from her head.

Angel Dust a large grin plastered on his face, his hand on his hip. "Is this what Y/n is so secretive about?"

"Oh! Poor little Marylin! Why don't you bathe her properly." Alastor snapped, getting ready to snatch the little kit from Husk.

Holding her close, Husk scowled at the two clearly embarrassed. "Why don't you go fuck yourself."

Sighing, your shoulders slumped watching three as your gaze flicked over to Vox. "Better not let Husk catch you. I'm pretty sure he'll kill you knowing he caught him grooming the kits."

Vox huffed though didn't get a chance to reply as Charlie barreled through. "HUSK! That's so cuute! Why don't you show this more often."

Slumping his shoulders, Husk bit back a groan. "Fucking hell."

Like all rats, Rattina is friendly, intelligent, and neat. Yes, you heard me. Pet rats are very clean and groom themselves regularly like cats.

Look at those impeccable nails!

Rattina can be a little silly at times but she's often quite shy around new people. It takes a while for her to come out of her shell but giving her a bit of cheese or even a strawberry does expedite the process quite a bit.

Rats are highly trainable and Rattina is no exception. She's been taking ballet lessons since she was a child and although she's no prima ballerina, she loves nothing more than showing off her moves.

He probably wont mind, he’s too busy to care about a cat of all things.

But like if you do like him, i recommend snoozing in his lap.

He’s got a lot of paperwork to do so its unlikely that he moves around a lot.

Its giving villain in a turning chair menacingly stroking a cat while giving an order to a nervous henchmen to inconvenience the heroes. 

You could try yelling at him and only quieting down when he pets you or lets you onto is lap

But, depending on his mood, he might just kick you out of his office

Would assign some poor Fatui henchman to take care of you so you have a constant guardian even if the other harbingers arent there. 

Dottore

Again

Scary

If you, as a cat, show human-like intelligence dottore will certainly pick up on it

Personally, as someone who likes cats and science, I would hang out with him

But like bad vibes

The worst vibes imaginable from this man.

Dont touch the chemicals he has.

We dont know what it is but just to be safe, assume all of them are acid.

Columbina

I love her sm 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Gives the most satisfying scritches and sings the sweetest songs

She’s one of the most safest harbingers to nap around

She’d put clips and bows in your fur regardless of gender.

Spends like 5 hours singing and grooming you like she doesnt have work to do.

No one has the guts to interrupt her though.

Capitano

Even though he’s scary i have a hc he’s nicer than he looks.

He isnt around Zapolyarny palace very often bc he’s out doing military campaigns and what not

But when he is at the palace, its safe to hang out with him

He’d have no issue with you catching a ride on his shoulders.

I also like to think he has a pyro vision(if he has one) and so he’s warmer than most

Perfect for a cat in snezhnaya. 

I think he’s nicer than he looks and it would be funny for the tiny cat to run straight to the big scary harbinger for pets and cuddles.

Pulcinella 

Its grandpa time babey

He gives you only the highest quality cat food.

You spend the day with him and you leave with 5 extra pounds just from the amount of treats he gives you.

You dont even have to do tricks or anything he just rewards you for existing.

He’d give you a kitty version of the harbinger coats, sponsored by Pantalone. 

Scaramouche

Oh this is fun

You know how cats are just assholes sometimes and like do things specifically to piss you off

Swipe at his hat tassles

Get on a cabinet and yell, mocking him for being so tiny

Rest assured that he will torment you in return

Like i love scaramouche so much, he’s my baby, id adopt him a million times over if i could

But i can only restrain the bastard instinct for so long

He told the fatui in charge of you to make sure you leave him alone and is so close to killing him when you inevitably waltz around the corner.

Sandrone

You’re not allowed in her workshop

No ifs ands or buts

Her robots are to delicate to risk getting knocked over by a cat

If you’re really insistent on watching her then she might allow you to watch from the door

But thats it

Outside of the workshop though, she wouldnt mind letting you in her lap while she is carried around by her robot. 

Just dont jump off without letting her know before hand

You might get crushed by the robot

If you manage to make her like you and look sad enough, she might make a robotic toy for you.

Maybe a robot cat friend or a mouse for you to chase.

It keeps you occupied and lets Sandrone make another robot, win-win!

Signora

She does seem a bit cold at first

Feels like the type to not like animals bc of how messy they are, etc.

But she will warm up to you quicker than say Pierro or Sandrone.

Another source of heat in this frigid country.

She sends one of those fire moths to go with you and it is very much appreciated.

Girls night with Her and Columbina hanging out and taking care of you ^-^

Pantalone

As mentioned in the original post, i think Pantalone likes cats

He’d spoil you so bad lmao

Doesnt matter if you’re mean or nice or apathetic

He has a corner in his office dedicated to you.

Its got a box of toys, the softest bed money can buy, the most elaborate cat tree imaginable like wtf man, one of them self cleaning litter boxes, a water fountain, and an automatic feeder.

The feeder is on a schedule but that doesnt really matter because Pantalone will give you treats anyways.

He even gives you your own allowance from the fatui treasury.

He gives you one of those cat collars with the little bell.

Arlecchino 

You could hint to her that you want to go to the orphanage.

Everytime someone mentions it, give a little chirp and stare at her intently.

She’ll probably get the idea and set aside a week or so for you go to the orphanage to play with the kids.

They’re all very gentle with you and like to call you a mini snow leopard.

Arlecchino thinks its kinda cute but she wont say it.

Tartaglia

The bastard instinct returns

I like to think that he isnt present when the other harbingers found cat!reader

Imagine he arrives heavily wounded and is confined to bed rest 

And like, when the doctor gives the go ahead for guests, cat!reader jumps onto the bed and starts purring up a storm

Cats purr to comfort others as well as to show happiness

Childe’s barely conscious but the fluffy thing is comfy and he cant move so might as well let it stay.

When he does wake up he’s more than a little surprised to find a cat in his bed

You have a collar so he assumes you already belong to someone, pets you and then lets you out of the room while he goes over to see what the other harbingers are doing.

For a while, a new routine seemed to be established

With Magenta making more occasional visits

The cats seemed to be less…frazzled if that was the word

You were still trying to find out where the hole was this cat kept escaping from 

But every time you set up a camera a fluffy white tail or adorable kitten’s licking on the lens

Your dearest friend continued to stay on her vacation, meaning a fluffy and highly groomed Douma got to stay longer

While it seemed Snowflake (Rui) didn’t mind the beauty, the other kittens seemed to despise him

Which had you worried

You figured between Magenta and Waterbug they had some reference but even you were aware that these two tended to be irregular at times

“Maybe you kittens need a few more role models…”

So to remedy this you take up more cat-sitting typically from your neighbors and friends you’d become a cat dealer to

“Alright, everybody let’s welcome our guests! This is Poser, Crybaby, Cherry Blossom, and Fire Streak!”: 

The flashy Hashira proudly posed as he watched himself be recognized by the burgundy and ombre kittens. As well as the blue-eyed cat who perked up with familiarity. The reunion for Tanjiro was a great motivator; since he had become a kitten his goals have been very short-sided. Be pet, be held, be groomed, fall asleep, get (Y/n)’s attention–it sometimes concerned him but seeing the somewhat clear-headed Hashira loudly divulge ideas on how to get home, made him so happy. There was even talk of bringing you with which would be even better! He was sure Nezuko agreed as they both curled up next to Hinatsuru as Uzui divulged his plans for the future.

You monitored their actions a bit automatically pinpointing why they had their specific name. The Egyptian mau wearing your friend’s jewelry truly seemed to be something of a model, always making a point to pose as they chirped and meowed in the trailing kittens’ direction. The other three all females were overall really affectionate with the kittens even willing to groom Snowflake who had been lingering closely behind. You couldn’t help your chest flutter when the kittens were lulled to sleep in a pile of purs and watching the guarding formation that seemed to be taking place on the cat tree they had claimed their own. 

Unfortunately not all the cats seemed to be getting along. The crew of four didn’t even acknowledge Waterbug, only giving him curt meows before loudly meowing to the kittens. While it was…sad it was nothing compared to their reaction to your friend's rainbow-eyed Turkish angora. Hissing, swiping, and actual attempts at his neck were made; none of which were discouraged by your form of punishment. No amount of separation and refused cuddles would stop them from fighting him off. And since they were the larger group you, unfortunately, gave them cuddle priority when they announced themselves in the room. Guarding the pile that had formed around you Poser wouldn’t allow Rainbow to be in the same space, sending meows of warning anytime he got too close. With tired eyes and rhythmic petting of someone’s head, you fell asleep. 

‘I wonder how they’ll react to Magenta…?”

To say Muzan was unhappy with the sight before he would be an understatement. He slipped out for twelve hours and you’ve somehow brought in more cats?! He thought this season was over! Stalking in he had half a mind to attack the sleeping cats but his kittens were curled into them better yet you which had him confront the hashira on guard. 

“What’s this? Does the demon king wish to confront me?//” Uzui quipped letting his spotted tail flick with aggressive intent. Whereas Muzan sat with narrowed eyes barely focusing on the cat in front of him and more so on you behind him. 

“They are mine.//”

“Who is, demon?//”

“(Y/n) and the kittens clearly had my scent all over them.//”

The other cat gave the equivalent of a boisterous laugh, “Yours? Well if that’s how we’re measuring they’re mine now!//”

Muzan growled prepared to barrel past them to awaken you only to be stopped by two of his lackeys. Female cats with their claws withdrawn and defensive intention behind their stance. For once in a long time the demon king felt truly challenged as they refused to be intimidated.

“Do you know who I am!? You’ll regret ever crossing me! Getting in my way will be your undoing!//”

“Not now. Now we are on equal grounds.//” Hinatsuru’s voice was firm, her speckled fur bristled as she curled further into you, blocking Muzan’s sight of the kittens. “Face it, demon king. We are stronger here and much more equipped for caring for them. Stand. Down.//”

He hated how right she was and the cat’s fearful design begging him to back down. But he wrestled with his mind, his advantage against all who got in his way was the human-like form. Surely he was ahead of them! Able to imitate the authority of a human easily. It’d be a pleasure to watch them cower with regret. But a blue-eyed gaze had him hesitating in what would follow. What would he do if you awoke or if you noticed how much they fought against him would you notice? Would you care? Could he take being rejected by the one who plagues his mind with every waking moment? 

He knew the answer. 

So he turned away retreating to your hamper to bathe in your scent. This was a battle and not the war…he’d just had to bide his time. And while it was agony to see this time spent with you and the kittens bonding with demon slayer and shinobi; he could wait…couldn’t he?
