When you debate a person about something that affects them more than it affects you, remember that it will take a much greater emotional toll on them than on you. For you it may feel like an academic exercise. For them, it feels like revealing their pain only to have you dismiss their experience and sometimes their humanity.

The fact that you might remain more calm under these circumstances is a consequence of your privilege, not increased objectivity on your part. Stay humble.

This is to all the young ones out there.

If you see someone struggling, be nice and help.

All it takes is one kind soul to change someone's life or even save their life.

Bullying is out of control, but what's more out of control is people standing by and knowing what's going on with this person and watching them drown... stand up for your classmates, stand up for people who are bullied, stand up for the kid that is always picked on, try and talk to the loner kid who is always alone.

You could save a life by just acknowledging someone exists.

In university, I was taught that people who stand by are just as guilty as the bullies.

Please, instead of lashing out at dangerous strangers (even online), stand up for someone in your class.

Please...

High-school is hard for everyone. You are finding yourselves. You have the hormones going through all of you. Be kind and be the bigger person.

It is a reward in itself to be the one to make someone smile.

Please be kind, don't stand by and watch your classmates get hurt or worse.

Everyone has crap in their lives, be the person to send love vibes to the world. Be the change we all need.

I've had colleagues lose as young as 12 year old students because there was no love in their lives, they committed suicide... They just wanted to be accepted and loved...

Daily reminder

No matter how shitty the world gets , NEVER ever stop being kind. Kindness never hurts it heals 💌, Personally there have been so many times where I felt like being cold like the rest of the world. But I keep reminding myself that It’s easy to hate but it takes so much strength to love, to be compassionate and most importantly to still be a good person in this absolutely horrendous world. And how desperately this world NEEDS kindness.You see, you will meet the absolute worst of people or tragic events but don’t let that change the real YOU. I also understand that we also want people to feel the pain that they gave us, but wouldn’t it make you the same as them? Do you really want to be like them? Do you really want to pass on your pain to someone who will actually truly love you? Even though the world doesn’t really admire kindness, but YOU do. You should be the Change , you should set an example and be hope for the broken. And Most importantly for your beautiful self that has been hurt so so many times 🥀

How to save an AO3 fic in the Wayback Machine

This one author you love has deleted all their works, deactivated their tumblr, disappeared off the face of the (virtual) Earth.

You realise that, for some reason, you never saved their fanfictions. What now?

The Wayback Machine is your friend!

Well, only if some kind soul has saved the fic in the right way. You can be the kind soul, if you like. Just follow these steps:

1) Go to the story page. If multi-chapter, click on “Entire Work”. The URL will look like this:

http://archiveofourown.org/works/4436639?view_full_work=true

2) If the story is rated G or T, go ahead and paste that URL here https://web.archive.org/ in the “Save Page Now” box at the bottom right, and click on "save page".

3) If the story is rated Mature, Explicit or Not Rated (M, E, NR), ADD THIS BIT TO THE URL: ?view_adult=true. The URL will look like this:

http://archiveofourown.org/works/4436639?view_adult=true&view_full_work=true

4) Go ahead and paste this URL in the “Save Page Now” box of the Web Archive. It needs to have this bit, in this exact order

?view_adult=true&view_full_work=true

immediately after the story serial number. Of course, omit the &view_full_work=true if the story has only one chapter. Now click on "save page".

What happens if the URL doesn’t have the ?view_adult=true bit in it? The story won’t show in the Wayback Machine. You’ll get the AO3 content warning:

“This work could have adult content. If you proceed you have agreed that you are willing to see such content.” You will NOT get to the story.

Please note that this method does NOT work with restricted fics. Whatever you try, the Internet Archive will only save the AO3 login wall for those. As it should.

Alternatively: save that fic you like NOW. Even if it’s a WIP. Even if it's abandoned. Yes, even then. SAVE THAT FIC.

But for the love of all that you hold dear, DO NOT REPOST IT.

DO NOT PLAGIARISE IT.

DO NOT FEED IT TO AI.
