You and Chan are immediately accompanied to the doctors. You endure being poked and prodded for an hour, first individually, then together. Each time you make contact with him, either skin-to-skin or through layers of fabric, you’re startled by the thrum of the Charge. It’s different from anything you’ve ever experienced, the sense of comfort and warmth that it brings.

Soulmates are rare, none of your friends or family have one, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a general sense of the bond that you now share with Chan. Growing up you had heard so many stories and watched dramas of how after First Touch your body changes and contact with your soulmate now results in a sharing of energy, called the Charge. Secretly, you had always considered that having a soulmate would be more of a nuisance than romantic. It didn’t replace the need for sleep, eating, or drinking, but basically seemed like a new requirement in addition to the rest.

The stories had never emphasised just how good the Charge felt.

After all the testing is complete, they bring you to an office and sit you down, test results displayed on a screen and an ominous looking stack of paperwork. The main doctor knocks on the door, then lets himself in, settling behind the desk. He squints down at the paperwork and passes the first two packages to you and Chan.

“Here are the results from today. I'm happy to say that both of you are in relatively good health and don’t have anything to be concerned about. All the testing that we completed also confirms that you two are soulmates. Congratulations!”

You and Chan thank him, but it’s mostly out of reflex. You keep replaying the moment of your First Touch in your mind. The feeling of the Charge is indescribable, but one thing for sure is that nothing has ever felt so right even though you still feel unsettled at the idea that you could have a soulmate.

You’re certain that Chan feels similarly even though he’s doing a good job of presenting himself as calm. You can see it in the way that he’s been lost in thought, getting startled whenever somebody had asked him to do something for another test. His hands had lingered every time you had made contact before it would register, then he would quickly pull away. It was almost addicting, how nice the Charge feels, and it’s enough to override the awkwardness of the whole situation.

The doctor explains some of the results of the testing that you had gone through, but the medical jargon meant that it went right over your head. You pay much more attention to the impacts that your new bond has on your life. The biggest is the time it takes to Charge. Similarly to sleep, recommended Charging timing for each day was 6-8 hours, although there was no difference if it was all at once or spread out. The doctor powers through a laundry list of side effects related to not getting enough charge, making you and Chan exchange glances.

With your jobs and what you know about Chan’s current sleep schedule, it’ll take a decent amount of effort, coordination, and probably some sacrifice from both of you to meet the minimum amount of Charge. When you voice your concerns, the doctor warns you that while not being able to Charge could be offset by eating and/or sleeping more, it would require a significant increase in both to get you even close to normal energy levels and generally wasn’t recommended.

Finally, the doctor distributes the legal and medical paperwork that needs to be filed to properly register as soulmates as required by the government, as well as become each other’s emergency contacts. It’s a tedious process, but luckily it doesn't take too much effort, mostly involving copying information on multiple forms and trying to recall your medical history.

When you’re finished, you leave to find Yonghwan standing in the waiting area of the doctor’s office. He was the one that you first told about your suspected soulmate bond. You had spammed him trying to get in contact, texting multiple times and frantically calling him until he had finally picked up his phone. He had been slightly annoyed initially, having been in a meeting at the time, but had immediately dropped everything to meet you once you had explained what happened.

Now, he gives you and Chan a slow once over before nodding to himself. When Chan excuses himself to go to the bathroom before you leave, Yonghwan sidles closer to you.

“Well,” he says. “It’s not the worst pair that I can think of. Good thing that you joined the team earlier this year, Y/n-ssi, otherwise this would have been an even bigger headache than it already is.”

“If I didn’t transfer to the team then maybe we never would have found out,” you laugh, but wince inwardly. You know that with any idol, having a soulmate is inconvenient at best, but it stings a little for someone to offhandedly confirm it to your face.

Yonghwan looks thoughtful at that. “Huh, maybe you’re right. Took you guys a surprisingly long time to have your First Touch considering how close you are to the boys. Did you really never have skin-to-skin contact with him these past few months?” Even though there’s barely anybody around, and nobody seems to be listening, the two of you have to be careful about mentioning any recognizable names.

“I guess not,” you say, also surprised. Yonghwan’s expression turns from pensive to sly in an instant.

“Although I would have thought that you’d have been a match with a different Australian instead of this one.”

“What?!” You try your best to suppress the blush that’s suddenly fighting to work its way up your face. “I promise that the two of us are just friends!”

“I’m just messing with you,” he laughs. “Everyone knows Mr. Sunshine clings on to whoever lets him, especially when he’s tired. You’re his favourite target because when his brain hurts too much to translate then he can still talk to you.”

You’re struggling to think what to say in response, when Chan reappears, effectively ending the conversation. The three of you proceed to the parking lot without saying a word. There’s already a car idling in the pick-up area that leaves the moment the three of you have gotten in. Just when you think you’ll finally be able to go home to rest, the car takes a turn down a familiar street.

“Are we going back to the company?” Chan must have the same thought as you, as he speaks up before you have a chance.

Yonghwan doesn’t look up from where he’s sitting shotgun, typing on his phone and confirms, “Yes, there’s still more paperwork for you two to complete. You were able to file all the government mandated forms, but given the… nature of your occupation, there are company procedures that you must follow as well.”

You lean back, knocking your head against the headrest.

"I bet I have more things to sign and fill out than Chan-ssi, right?" you groan. Chan grimaces in sympathy.

"I'm afraid you're right. NDA's for you and the people you want to tell about the bond," Yonghwan agrees. "We'll also be arranging any changes to your position responsibilities. Obviously we still need you doing all the work that you're currently doing for the tour, but there's interest in increasing your involvement during schedules. That is, you would be attending more of them. If you agree, of course." He adds the last part as an afterthought.

"Yes, I'm fine with anything. " You scramble to answer. You actually currently don't have the extra capacity, but you're feeling overwhelmed by all these new expectations and want to do everything you can to make the company happy. The more they support you and view you as cooperative, the better. You know them asking for permission is more like an order that’s disguised as a request instead of actually seeking permission. It’s not like they can fire you anymore, but you know they have the power to make every step of your life more difficult and frustrating. One of your worst defence mechanisms has always been blindly agreeing to what is asked of you and it seems this time is no different.

"You don't have to if you're too busy, I know there's a lot on your plate right now," Chan says, looking guilty.

"No, no. I don't mind at all. I'd be happy to spend more time with you and the boys. I think it'd be good for both of us," you say, trying your best to sound reassuring and confident.

"Great," Yonghwan breaks in. "I'll let them know so they can draft any paperwork accordingly."

You slump in your seat at the mention of even more forms to fill out, while the reality of what this soulmate bond means for your life sinks in. A thought crosses your mind and you bolt upright.

"I have to move in with you?" you exclaim, staring at Chan, whose ears and cheeks instantly flush pink.

"Although it's technically possible for Chan-ssi to move in with you, in reality everything is easier if you move in with him," Yonghwan answers instead of Chan, his tone apologetic.

“Today?” You know the answer before Yonghwan even says anything. The doctor had stressed the importance of Charging consistently, especially in these first weeks. Since your jobs made it impossible to Charge during the day or evenings, it left only nighttime available.

“You don’t have to come over today,” Chan jumps in. “We can stay at your place if that makes you more comfortable.”

“No, no. I’ll have to move in eventually, so I shouldn’t put it off. As long as Changbin-ssi, Hyunjin-ssi, and Jisung-ssi are fine with it, that is.” Really, you’d prefer to spend a few days at your place alone to process everything, but that’s not an option so you might as well get to know your soulmate- although it still scares you to consider him that- and new roommates better.

“The guys will be fine with anything, I’ll just give them a heads up about… everything.” He pulls out his phone and in the silence, Yonghwan speaks up again.

"Of course, JYPE will compensate you for the inconvenience of moving and the cost of terminating your contract. All the rent for the dorms that the boys live in is already covered, so you don't have to worry about that. Everything will be explained in more detail in the documents we have prepared, luckily this is all standard procedure."

"Oh. I guess that makes sense… Does standard procedure mean this has happened before? Another JYPE idol has a soulmate?" you question.

Yongwhan pauses to turn back to you, raising an eyebrow.

"Even if there was, it would be highly confidential, Y/n-ssi. In the same way that the staff who know would never say anything about the two of you."

"Ah, right. That's a relief I guess." You laugh, then sober at the thought of having to pack all your belongings and move in with four men. You've grown closer to them in the past few months, but not enough that you don't feel extremely awkward and bad about intruding on their space. "Oh also, I guess I'll have to talk to the legal team about this again but I don't rent my place. Sorry if that makes it more complicated."

Both Chan and Yonghwan stare at you at that, causing your cheeks to flush.

"Does somebody else rent it? Do you have a… roommate?" Yonghwan ventures when you don't elaborate.

"I own it," you say, feeling even warmer at their taken aback expressions. You're lucky the car is stopped at a red light otherwise Yonghwan might have crashed it based on how he's not paying attention to the road right now. "My parents helped me buy it, but it's under my name so technically I own it."

“Well,” Yonghwan says after a moment of silence. “I would say that makes things easier. I assume that you would prefer to keep it?”

“Yes, I’m sure that I can eventually rent it out if I never use it, but in the meantime it’ll make things easier since there won’t be a rush. And more storage is always better I guess,” you laugh.

“Perfect,” Yonghwan says.

The conversation ends there. The information was harmless, although it does set you apart a bit since barely anybody else you know owns instead of rents, but you still feel like you shared too much.

After signing countless NDA’s, contract amendments, and filling out some HR forms as well as enduring a comprehensive and quite intimidating lecture about what you can and cannot do now, you’re feeling exhausted. So before you can get called in to do anything else, you leave the building.

You and Chan decide to head home separately. You have to go back to your apartment to pack some essential items to bring back with you and to clean up, you definitely would prefer to shower at your place one last time. Chan, and presumably Changbin, Hyunjin, and Jisung, will be cleaning up the dorm as well as figuring out a plan for moving you in.

You take your time, cleaning up your kitchen, taking out the garbage, packing up enough clothes to last you a few days, toiletries, and make-up, then showering. Once clean, you spend another half an hour just scrolling on your phone trying to take your mind off of the major changes that are going to be happening in your life.

Soulmates.

You still can't believe it. It feels like a position that you shouldn’t have been given and you’re nervous about whether you’ll be a good partner. You had spent the past few years so focused on academics that your social life had been sacrificed and you didn’t have many close friends. You have no idea how things would turn out, a soulmate bond didn’t guarantee a romantic relationship, but they were more common than not and you weren’t sure how ready you were for anything serious.

Chan being an idol added extra complications and you knew it meant that your relationship, romantic or not, would have to stay a secret for a long time. You didn’t mind keeping things quiet, you were naturally a private person, but having to be so careful about not being caught together was something you were concerned about.

Before you can spiral further, your phone chimes with a notification. Chan’s name pops up along with a few messages. You have texted him a few times before, but never on your personal cell phone.

The move, if you can call it that since you had chosen to only bring a small portion of your belongings so far, had gone over pretty smoothly. When you had arrived at the dorms, Chan had been waiting in the lobby as promised and had immediately taken your bags, putting them away once you got to their apartment. It’s not as awkward as you had feared. Just like before, it’s easy to banter with the boys, and time passes quickly.

After a late dinner, the five of you hang out in the living room. Someone starts playing a movie, but it’s mostly just for background noise, Jisung makes a comment about one of the characters in the beginning that Changbin doesn’t agree with and it turns into a full-on debate that’s totally unrelated to the movie. Hyunjin is curled up beside him, occasionally contributing to the discussion but directing most of his attention to his phone.

It feels strangely domestic. Even though it hasn’t even been a full day since you found out you were soulmates with Chan, you already feel like you’ve been welcomed into the Stray Kids family and you didn’t know that you’d like it so much.

“You’re probably tired,” Chan says, standing up shortly after the movie is over. You follow him to his room, suddenly feeling nervous. You’re comfortable with Chan, but you’ve never been good at sleeping in unfamiliar places and you’re not quite sure what to expect.

His room fits his personality, it’s extremely neat, everything in its own place. A significant portion of his deskspace is filled with equipment related to gaming or music production. You try not to be too obvious with your inspection, instead heading right to where your bags are leaning against one side of the bed.

“I ordered a different bed,” Chan says suddenly. When you look back at him, he’s still standing in the doorway, scratching his shoulder awkwardly. The tips of his ears have turned pink. It suddenly occurs to you that he’s likely just as nervous as you are, maybe moreso. "Sorry, I know this one is kind of small for two people. It should come in a week.”

“Okay, that sounds good, thanks,” you say, distracting yourself by trying to find your sleeping clothes.

“I also cleared out some closet space for you.” Chan finally steps into the room and opens the door of his closet to show off the empty shelf and hangers. The left side of the closet looks like one big shadow, crammed tightly with folded hoodies, shirts, and pants, all black.

“Oh, th-”

“And everything is clean. The sheets and everything. Washed it all when I got home.”

Chan’s face is fully red now and things start to make sense. You’ve seen a few video clips and have heard the members teasing Chan enough times to know why he wants to assure you that everything has been cleaned.

“Ah,” you say knowingly, feeling comfortable enough to poke a bit of fun at him too. “Because you normally sleep nude.”

"What?" Chan sputters, hands coming up to cover his face which is somehow even darker than before. You laugh at his reaction, there’s a mixture of mortification and confusion, but neither of you are nervous anymore.

“You haven’t really kept it a secret,” you tease. In response, Chan just groans and flops down onto the bed. You continue, “I’ve seen enough interviews… So I wasn’t sure what to expect.”

At that, Chan shoots up and starts waving his arms frantically.

“No, no! I promise that I’m going to wear clothes to sleep! And when I’m not sleeping too! All the time! Don’t worry about that!”

You just laugh even harder until you can feel tears starting to collect at the corners of your eyes. You take the opportunity to lie down beside Chan, brushing your arms together. You close your eyes. Before you can be lulled to sleep by the instant relaxation that the Charge provides, you haul yourself up to wash up for bed and Chan does the same.

Surprisingly, you fall asleep almost immediately, and wake up feeling better than you’ve felt in a long time. When you look beside you and see Chan rubbing his eyes, hair a mess, and creases on his cheek from his pillow, you know that he feels the same way.

“Good sleep?” you ask, once it looks like Chan is awake enough to open his eyes for longer than a couple seconds.

“Yeah,” Chan says in wonder, voice is sleep-roughed and much lower than usual. “Woah, yeah that… I don’t know if I’ve ever slept that well.”

When the two of you break contact and you still feel well-rested and refreshed, you think that maybe you could get used to this soulmate thing.

A few days later on a night that you and all the members have off, you walk into your shared bedroom to find Chan at his desk, laptop set up in front of him. He brightens immediately when he looks up and sees you.

“Oh, here she is!” he says, to your confusion. He beckons you forward and when you step close enough, you can see that he’s on a video call with his parents. “This is Y/n, my soulmate! Y/n, this is my mum and dad.”

You smile and wave awkwardly, leaning over Chan’s shoulder in order to fit properly in the frame. His parents are cuddled comfortably on a couch, and say how glad they are to finally meet you. They speak mostly Korean during the conversation, likely for your benefit, because the few times they switch to English, it’s for remarks that are directed just to Chan, like when his mother scolds him for not helping you move a chair beside him so that you can sit down.

You’re also introduced to Berry, who barks eagerly when she sees Chan, making him coo, eyes curving into crescents as he widely smiles. You can’t help but smile at that, although it’s not unusual for Chan to smile so much, it’s endearing to see how he melts so quickly at the sight of his dog. You’ve heard a lot about her and whenever Chan gets any new pictures from his family, he’s quick to share them with you and the rest of the group.

Luckily for you, the call doesn’t go on for too much longer. Even though Chan’s parents were sweet and only directed a few questions to you, mostly electing to alternate between teasing Chan and asking him about his health, you weren’t prepared to meet them tonight and feel a little off-balanced.

The rest of the evening is relatively quiet, Chan is more pensive than usual after talking with his parents and you’re also lost in thought. It was really interesting to see this side of Chan. For all the jokes about him acting like the maknae, Chan was the backbone of Stray Kids. He always supported the group and took on extra responsibility, even if they didn’t realise it. On the call, he seemed younger and more carefree. It’s a good look on him.

Right when you’re about to fall asleep, Chan speaks up.

“Have you talked to your parents recently?” His voice is deliberately casual, but you can tell that he’s interested in more than small talk.

“Uhm, no,” you say, trying to match his even tone. You don’t know if you succeed. “My family isn’t as… close as yours.”

“Oh.” There’s a pause. Under the cover of darkness, you can’t see anything but the silhouette of his face. It’s hard to tell what he’s thinking. Your eyes start to get heavy again. “They live in Seoul, right?”

“Yes.”

“Oh,” he says again.

“My brother, too.”

“Oh, that’s nice.” Another pause, before, “an older brother?”

“Yeah. By three years.”

If Chan has anything else he wants to say in the resulting silence, you don’t know. You fall asleep before he has a chance to.

Surprisingly, the months seem to fly past.

It’s easy to learn and adapt to Chan’s routine when all he does is spend time at schedules or holed up in his studio. You start to bring him dinner after a few too many times when you visited late in the evening and found that he’s forgotten to eat. These mealtimes that you share give you a needed break and you also just enjoy spending time with him, even if it’s often just you eating quietly while he eats and continues working. You don’t push him to stop working during the times that you eat together, you know that it would only cause him to either eat dangerously fast or say that he’s finished before he’s actually full.

It also becomes standard for you to be the last one on your team in the office, often you’re arriving back at your desk right when everyone is leaving to go home or out for dinner. Honestly, you find that your strange hours can prove to be advantageous, as it pushes the timings of your emails to send during working hours for the American companies that you’re working with.

You’ve gone out for drinks or food with your coworkers a few times since you found out that Chan was your soulmate, but with your additional responsibilities, you’ve been under pressure to properly balance your workload so that you can finish everything in time. Your repeated absences don’t discourage your team from inviting you out, but they come to expect that you’re not available. You don’t mind, it’s not like you ever have pressing evening plans that you’re missing and it means that you can try to coax Chan home at a more reasonable time instead of him accidentally pulling all-nighters.

He’s gotten better at that. You know it’s partially because the Charge has helped a lot with his insomnia and he no longer dreads going to sleep. You also suspect that it’s concern for you that motivates him to wrap things up. When you start to yawn or doze off while waiting for him, it’s a reminder that the Charge works both ways and as much as he’s okay with sacrificing some energy, he wants you to be well rested.

The two of you sometimes walk back to the dorm together. It’s not too long of a walk and you want to make the most of the warm weather before the seasons shift. The late hour usually means that it’s peaceful and the cover of darkness eases any fears of Chan being recognized. You don’t hold hands or anything, but it still feels illicit, like you’re blending in too well with the couples that you always see.

Regardless, it’s one of your new favourite activities. You take the time to learn more about Chan, his likes, dislikes, what he’s working on, what he’s stressed about or looking forward to. Even when you and Chan are just walking in silence, it feels comfortable.

During the last few weeks of summer, Chan’s sister, Hannah, comes to visit Seoul from Sydney. She’s travelling with a friend, but sets aside a few days to spend with Chan.

It was unavoidable to change the timing of one of the schedules, so she tags along with you. She’s quite a few years younger than you, but easy to get along with. You’ve spoken to her through video calls a couple times, but it doesn’t compare to being with her in-person. Hannah’s constantly making jokes, generally at Chan’s expense, and the set for the photoshoot you’re at is filled with laughter. Chan has to be pulled aside by a make-up artist to have foundation and concealer added to his ears and reapplied to his cheeks with the force of his blush. He constantly grumbles and pretends to get mad at her, but everyone can tell from the sparkle in his eye that he’s ecstatic that she’s visiting.

Chan and Hannah have an interesting dynamic. You can easily pick out similarities between them in both appearance and personality. It's sweet how much he dotes on her even if he tries to act nonchalant and she does her best to show how much she enjoys it. Even though they have a fairly large age gap and Chan spent a significant portion of his life in Korea instead of Australia, they're close in a way that you and your brother have never been.

All the members are familiar with her and treat her like she’s their little sister too, letting her choose restaurants, making sure that she eats first, and spoiling her with gifts.

You take Hannah out one afternoon, when Chan’s not available but you have some flexibility in your schedule. It gives you a chance to talk to each other one-on-one and you know that she’s been meaning to find something nice for Chan without him knowing about it. It’s fun to browse stores and get to know each other better.

"So, what's it really like, being you know, with my brother?" She asks as you take a break at a quiet cafe. Both of you had picked out a couple of items and had found a new hoodie that you think Chan would like.

"It's good, but… challenging," you admit. "Work definitely makes it hard to have a lot of time to actually spend together. I think that he found it difficult having to adjust to a life that has a more… set schedule."

“Ah,” Hannah says, knowingly. “You mean the fact that he’s actually forced to go to bed every night instead of staying up in his studio for days on end?”

“Exactly! Actually, his insomnia isn’t as bad anymore and he can actually fall asleep most of the time, but it’s hard for me to tell how much rest he’s actually getting or how he’s doing. Like I’m pretty sure since I think I’m getting enough charge, then that means he is too, but I know even if he wasn’t then he wouldn’t say anything.”

"Yeah, that’s the one thing about him that I've learned over the years. He always tries to take on things himself so that he's not a burden. He was independent for a long time. Keeping people at a distance is the way that he deals with problems. I like you, Y/n. I don’t want you to get hurt by my dumb brother and his dumb decisions.”

You’re surprised, both by how mature Hannah is and also that she cares about you enough to warn you. For a moment, you don’t even know how to respond.

“Thank you, Hannah. I appreciate it. I hope that I’ll be able to support your brother and make sure he feels like he’s not alone.”

“Just let me know if you need me to talk some sense into him,” she says. “He gets too far into his head sometimes.”

“I’ll keep that in mind, if I ever want to instil the fear of God in him,” you laugh. You can definitely imagine Hannah calling up Chan and giving him a piece of her mind if you ever complain to her, but know that you’d never take her up on the offer. “Now come on, one of my favourite stores is on this block and I think you’ll like some of their clothes.”

I've had this on the back burner for a while. Yandere confirmed! This is a reincarnation story with some cuteness, some creepiness, ghosts and good art. It's a wacky story with alot of unexpected elements, like the ghost thing, which is a main plot point.

Emi is a painfully average office worker. She woke up sick then she went to work. She got sicker. She hasn't had a lover in 3 years, and she's not close to her family.

Her death is kind of brutal. She gets a sharp pain in her head after days without getting treated. She works for a "black company" that will fire her if she dares to go to the doctor. She dies with nothing but regret, and when she awakens she sees a handsome man.

It's her husband, King Theodore. Emi has been reincarnated into the body of Princess Emilia, Theodore's first wife. Emi crawls out of her coffin. Theodore picks her up, and he decides to use her. In this world reincarnated people are a sign of disaster. Emi will be burned to death by a mob if the truth comes out. She has to be a good wife or else...

Wait...Emilia is still alive...kinda. Emi got the body, but the spirit of Emilia is floating around her. Ok, so what does this mean? Emilia's spirit is a side effect. It's what happens when a foreign spirit like Emi steals a body. Emilia could turn into an evil spirit, and bring forth calamity. Theodore wants to destroy her, but Emi befriends her instead.

Theodore isn't a very romantic guy. He's a practical, workaholic king. His reincarnated wife is interesting, so he lets her live...for now.

Theodore softens up pretty fast, but he still isn't very romantic until like chapter 4. I wasn't sure if he was a yandere for a while. He's very childish around Emi. Emi is willing to be a good Queen in order to live a comfortable life, but that doesn't mean love is on the table. Emilia and Theodore were in a loveless marriage. Emi does not pursue Theodore. He eventually comes after her.

Sidenote. Theodore is the strongest magician. He has a ton of scary powers, but he's overworked. He will die if he doesn't learn how to let his guard down. Emi is pretty nice, and she can also see that Theodore is an effective King. She doesn't want him to die, and she doesn't want Emilia to become an evil spirit.

Emilia becomes her best friend by the way. It's kinda weird, but cute...Emilia is a brat though. I roll my eyes when she rants about men and romance.

There's a lot of culture shock in this. King Theodore rules over a polygamous kingdom. Emilia didn't have to be by his side. She actually wanted him to bring in another princess. Emi is more traditional. She never wants to fall for Theodore, because she doesn't want to share the one she loves.

(She is willing to be one of the queens and enjoy a wealthy life though lol...)

Theodore proposes once more after he promises to be faithful.

After the proposal Theodore becomes very jealous. He hates Emilia. He wants Emi to care about him. No one else. He even gets jealous when she compliments the servants.

It's easy to see why Theodore is a yandere. Emi is his friend. Possibly the first friend he has ever had fun with. He is a work machine, but Emi is able to break down his barriers. She knows how bad overworking is, and her earnest attempts to help him are pretty cute. Theodore also isn't an overly toxic yandere... mostly...they are married...and he kind of has a point...

Emi makes up a ton of excuses, but Theodore thinks a loving royal marriage will bring happiness and prosperity to the whole country.

...he's absolutely right. Emilia was a total brat content to hide in her personal castle. Emi is a dutiful queen. A love match with her husband can only be a good thing...but sigh...ugh...Emi is insecure because her previous life sucked etc.

This is pretty complex for a reincarnation story, and the yandere isn't a boring cookie-cutter villain.

what kind of yandere are they?

Floyd is a very intensely possessive and clingy yandere. He is always physically near his darling, and is usually touching them in some way. Floyd’s love language is definitely physical touch, and that is brought out in the worst way possible if he’s a yandere.

Like his brother, I think he’d take some time to examine his darling and confirm his interest in them, but it escalates a lot quicker for him than it does for Jade. He would also take a more direct and overbearing approach to get close to his darling, as it’s not his style to do things quietly. Floyd would rather just jump in and make his presence known to them. No point in making them wait, they’re gonna have to get used to him anyway.

He can also be quite violent, both towards his darling and other people around them. Floyd is very quick to anger and isn’t the type to change his approach based on who he’s handling. From past experiences, he knows that a nice, hard squeeze fixes most things. It’s not like he doesn’t enjoy it. Speaking of enjoying it… yeah, Floyd is pretty sadistic as well. No surprises there.

Floyd is also easily prone to being jealous. His possessiveness over his darling is very strong, and he wants them to be his and only his. Why need anyone else? When Floyd is jealous, everyone within viewing distance can tell. Depending on the mood that he’s in, he’s either super whiny, aggressive, or bitter in response to being jealous. You can never tell how he’ll express his jealousy until he actually does it. It just makes him that much harder to deal with.

how do they treat their darling?

Floyd is a bit of an odd case in terms of how he treats his darling. He strikes this weird mix between being absolutely lovestruck with them, and treating them so badly that you’d think he hated their guts. He is definitely not an easy yandere to deal with due to this unpredictability of his.

Physical abuse is not off the table at all. Floyd knows how strong he is, and he isn’t afraid to show off some of that strength to intimidate his darling into submission. Whether it be in the form of squeezing them until they can barely breathe or biting them so hard that they start to bleed, he will not hesitate.

Speaking of biting, Floyd absolutely loves leaving marks on his darling, especially with his teeth. He would bite them almost anywhere, but visible places like the neck or hands are the best, since it would be hard for them to cover those up. Leaving marks on his darling is like publicly announcing that they’re his. It’s very loud, and it’s very Floyd. However, he wouldn’t stop with just his teeth. I can imagine Floyd also leaving bruises on his darling’s body, not only as a way to show others who they belong to, but also as a lasting reminder of what happens if they defy him.

Teasing and humiliation are also things I could see Floyd doing to his darling. He’s very confident in his abilities to keep them where he wants them, and he would share this fact with them in a not-so-nice way.

Though, don’t get me wrong. With all the things I’ve said Floyd would do to his darling, it’s not like he wants to kill them or break their mind completely. In the end, he is obsessed with his darling, and he derives enjoyment from “playing” with them. Killing them or causing them to become unresponsive due to mind break would ruin his fun, not to mention take away someone he has a deep attachment to.

On a slightly less violent note, Floyd is very physically affectionate, and that still holds true here. He does have moods where he’s more cuddly, but he just likes having his hands on his darling at all times regardless of his temperament. Holding their hand, wrapping an arm around their shoulders or waist, hugging/squeezing them, kissing them, etc… Floyd is also not ashamed of being physically affectionate in public. Doesn’t matter who’s around, he’s doing whatever he wants. Sure, he would prefer doing more… intimate actions behind closed doors, but that won’t stop him from giving his darling bone-crushing hugs or suffocating kisses in the middle of a crowded place.

In terms of kidnapping, I think it really depends on the situation. Floyd is confident enough in his ability to threaten, beat up, or even kill anybody who gets close to his darling, as well as keeping his darling in a position which he wants them to be in; so kidnapping is not seen as a necessity for him. However, in more extreme situations where there’s a really persistent competitor or his darling is really testing his patience, Floyd may resort to kidnapping. Though it’s pretty unlikely overall.

what kind of person would they obsess over?

Honestly, I think Floyd could become obsessed with anyone that he deems interesting or fun enough, much like his brother. Though he may fall more easily for someone who has especially interesting reactions to what he does.

Therefore, I think that someone who’s a little shy or easily startled would be a prime target for Floyd. He’d love seeing the shocked expressions or listening to the little sounds of surprise that they make in response to his teasing and sudden physical affection.

Conversely, I think that he could also fall easily for someone with a more fiery personality, since they would also have interesting reactions. Their reactions would be more on the explosive side when compared to a shy darling, but Floyd would be enthralled nonetheless. He does like bothering Riddle a lot in-canon, so there’s that too.

Floyd would become interested in someone at first because of his desire to see how far he can push them with his heckling. However, at some point, he’d become more concerned with simply seeing their reactions to the things he does rather than seeing them unravel. That’s where the obsession kicks in.

I did mention that Floyd may like a darling who’s on the fiery side, but too much fire and he’s uninterested. It’s the same on the other end; he might like someone who’s on the meek side, but too much submissiveness and they’re boring. Floyd is a difficult yandere to please. You kind of have to draw a fine line between being interesting enough to make his obsession persist, and being permissive enough that you’re not setting his temper off with every little defiant remark you make.

are they aware of their actions? how dangerous are they?

Unsurprisingly, Floyd is quite the lucid yandere. That being said, I think he does lean into the delusional side sometimes too. He’d be aware of his obsessive and possessive behaviour, but he just really doesn’t care. Why should he, when he’s just doing what he finds fun?

The delusional side of his kicks in when his obsession is more on the intense side. I think Floyd would sometimes fall victim to the thought that he and his darling are meant to be together, especially when he’s in his more cheery moods. However, if his darling does anything to break that delusion, such as defying him or acting afraid around him, Floyd switches back to normal rather quickly… and angrily.

Also unsurprisingly, Floyd is a very dangerous yandere. His lack of regard for anyone other than himself is probably the thing that contributes to his dangerousness the most, especially when it comes to how dangerous he is for people other than his darling. Furthermore, he has lots of other threatening traits: unpredictability, physical abuse, possessiveness, suffocating clinginess, and so on.

On the other hand, if his darling somehow finds a way to please him, or if they develop feelings for him as well, that would make Floyd considerably less dangerous towards them. There are certain things that would never go away - like his constant need to touch his darling in some way, or his bites that hurt a little too much - but some of his violent traits would slowly disappear if his darling is being compliant and interesting enough to him.

Floyd is also very dangerous to others, and this is not dependent on how his darling treats him. If anyone gets between him and his darling, Floyd has absolutely no remorse in beating them within an inch of their life. He might also kill them if beating them up doesn’t work. Murder isn’t necessarily his first option, but he also wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone if need be.

what is their most dangerous trait? how far would they have to be pushed to bring it out?

Floyd’s most dangerous trait is definitely his deep disregard for anyone other than himself. He does what he considers most enjoyable or interesting at that moment, and he considers everything else to be less important than his whims.

I do think Floyd could be a rather patient yandere, given the right situation. He doesn’t want to lose his darling, so he would apply some level of control to his own actions. For example, he wouldn’t jump to giving his darling a permanent injury or killing them. However, there is one important condition to satisfy for this to be true: the fact that his darling is still interesting to him.

If his darling were to ever make Floyd bored or set him off, the little bit of concern he has for them evaporates so quickly. Suddenly he’s back to treating them like everyone else; he stops controlling himself around his darling and does whatever he wants to without considering their well-being at all. In this state, he’s very likely to critically injure or kill his darling, especially if he’s frustrated or angry with them.

Overall, as long as his darling keeps Floyd relatively content and does nothing to dispel his interest in them, they’re probably fine. It’s a very delicate balance though: Floyd’s emotional volatility makes the task of dealing with him a difficult and fragile endeavour. And the second he gets bored or snaps… it’s not gonna be pretty.

Are y'all excited for nightbringer

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Yes with...reservations. We think. We think we're excited?

(spoilers for Season 4)

We haven't been too active for a bit and thus we never did jot down all our thoughts about how Season 4 panned out in Obey Me, but the simple summary is: they dropped the ball.

Now, not everything in Season 4 was a waste -- we did defend Lesson 70 back when it released, and there were some other nice nuggets of information throughout those twenty lessons. We met new characters, finally got the Simeon reveal (if a bit anticlimactically), and MC became the first official non-demon member of the RAD student council, which, as a reminder, is the governing body of the entire Devildom, so that's a pretty big deal.

However, Season 3 had a relatively flat writing progression with not much of a climax, all in service to setting up a bunch of things in Season 4, and many of those things were then...not used well, to the say the least.

Raphael was built up to be an antagonistic character, but we kind of got a wet mop instead. Season 3 also made a big deal about MC needing to become a trained sorcerer and how difficult something like teleportation and summoning would be, but teleportation is learned basically immediately, and summoning Lucifer, the most powerful of the demon brothers, across realms, on the first try, is highlighted for all of about ten seconds and then never really talked about again.

They built up Simeon's situation for almost all of both seasons combined, but rather than actually becoming a "fallen angel" (aka demon), it's revealed as simply "not having angel powers anymore" and only properly clarified later that he's now "human" -- which we still have a million questions about, because it has been fairly well established that angel physiology is much closer to demons and far different than that of humans, so what does that actually even mean? Even within Season 4 itself, Mephistopheles is first introduced as somewhat hostile to MC and non-demons at large, but he too is reduced to little more than another comedic fool by halfway through.

So, suffice it to say, we don't presently hold the highest opinions of the OM writing team...

With the little we've seen of Nightbringer so far, we are already seeing a bit of possible retconning -- for example, RAD not existing before the Celestial War, when lore wise it did exist and is discussed in Lucifer's base UR card Devilgram, The Glory Days. But with everything we've said here, we can't really be surprised that Solmare seems to constantly forget their own lore. So, how much more will be retconned in Nightbringer? Who knows!

The devs also just did an AMA, which confirms that they will not be continuing the main story in the OG Obey Me game, but instead eventually continuing it in Nightbringer. How they're going to connect the story which involves MC going back in time disguised as a demon to where they left off at the end of Season 4 is a mystery, but we'll find out soon enough...hopefully.

Also, we worry that seeing the characters fresh from the Celestial War might very well increase misinterpretations in the fandom when it comes to the characters. No offense to most of the fandom but, uh, we don't think the Seven Demon Lords of Hell from actual demonology need to be treated as angsty precious meow meows that need to become angels again to ~heal~ them. The excessive woobification we sometimes see of these characters is, hmm, not quite to our taste, and a big reason we keep to our own little corner. <3

But, all that said, that deep desire of ours to see OM actually embrace its demonic backdrop and the much darker world it has been suggesting forever, is exactly what we're excited for in the new game! The art and plot they've shared so far is right up our alley, and we're at least minimally hopeful for the seeming return to darker content that they've been avoiding since the initial backlash in the game's early days.

The opening animation is beautiful and the prologue video they've shared is interesting (more Barbatos lore?? More Barbatos lore!! More Solomon lore???). We're hoping that we'll get more fleshed out history on both the characters and the world, especially if we'll be learning more about the Great Celestial War and the aftermath, including the creation of Satan. It'll be interesting to see (or at least, we hope we'll see) the character progression of the immediate post-fall angels suffering the grief of their transformation and loss of their home, to coming to accept their new lives as demons even if we're not thrilled that it's probably MC coming to the past to play family therapist yet again.

And the Ruri Tunes demo was pretty cute back when they did that one-stage beta, so that should be fun? Even if, thematically, a rhythm game seems maybe like a bit of a strange choice for the darker direction this story is taking...but then again, dance battles were kind of weird thematically in the first place anyway.

We'll also finally get a canon layout of the House of Lamentation, so if nothing else we'll at least have that? Please confirm there's more than just one bathroom.

*Disclaimer: some of these opinions/theories are based on my opinion on natural story progression, some are just my wishes and hopes. I just have to let it out somewhere because my brain won't stop giving me these thoughts!

I've seen first Avatar when it came out back in 2009 (I was 12) and am now even more in love with The way of water (though I'm 9 months late with the actual watch). And considering I appreciate the organization and thinking about the entire franchise, here are some things that I THINK MIGHT HAPPEN or that IT'D BE NICE IF THEY HAPPENED in three sequel movies.

Avatar: The Seed Bearer

It'll be revealed Kiri is actually Pandora's "Jesus" (cause she is) and she'll become even more powerful

Lo'ak will be our narrator, but focus will most likely be on Kiri and Spider more than him or they'll share equal amount of attention in movie plot

The plot will continue very shortly after the battle against tulkun hunters and Neteyam's death, maybe a few months later

To my friend Niko. 💙🩷🤍🩷💙

I'll never know if it was an accidental OD or intentional suicide or what... I was lucky a friend of his was kind enough to tell me that he died. I was too afraid to ask anymore of a stranger. It had been weeks or months of inactivity before I was told. My suspicions were confirmed. Utterly shocked.

That's what happens with long-distance internet friends sometimes. He fucking died just months before my dad's series of medical events that put him into vascular dementia. Now It's been 7 years.

He felt like a soul friend sometimes. So much fun little things in common, coincidences, sadnesses. He got me into TØP, which I can't bring myself to listen to anymore. 🫤 It's not the same without his joy about new songs.

He was the sweetest person. I wish he'd have been able to make his trip here to visit his friend or s/o. My mom and me would've tried to make the trip a few states over to at least say hello give him a hug. He had new yellow suitcase and everything. 😢 It's still unbelievable.

He even liked me enough to tell me his 'dead name'. I forgot it, because Niko was who I knew.🤷🏻‍♂️ But I realized it was a very special trusting thing.

This will never not bother me. It haunts me.

He was always open to talking about being trans, transitioning, and taught me a lot. He cleared a lot of purely innocent misconceptions and ignorance about being trans that I had.

And My dad, who was probably 75ish when I started talking to Niko. My dad had a meager education in 1940s Europe. He was still very accepting and interested in his life, his safety. And was even hurt when I told my dad Niko had been bullied at school like me growing up. Even before his realization that he was transgender. He had a stutter and was smaller than the other kids. That really bothered my dad.

And my mom always asked about him. She always feels motherly for my friends. But Niko had some less than perfect relationship with his mom. And my mom felt heartbroken by that.

So I felt like Niko made a difference for our family just being an open book and a sweetheart. I wish I had the chance to have long in person talks with him one day and share more pictures of our families. Sadly, that'll never come. And I've already forgotten a lot of our texts and things.

He left a hole in my life right when things got incredibly difficult and dark and painful in a lot of horrible ways.

I had support, but he had a special sort of way about him. As shy and anxious as he was, he was a social butterfly through our penpal friendship.

He had his top surgery. He had to wait almost a year. We were so happy.

He sent me this nice picture of him smiling at the hospital with the sun's rays flowing in onto him. It's almost like a dream now.

I guess if there's an afterlife, my dad and uncle are looking out for him from any bullies. And Niko has the body he was meant to all along.

But I often wonder if the difficulties with acceptance didn't contribute to his death through medicating himself. Again, I'll never know. But his death was unnecessary in my eyes even if I didn't have the full story. Because not being unconditionally loved and accepted kills people too. Not being concerned in healthy, helpful ways kills people, too.

But I think he should be remembered today too because he contributed to the change he wanted in the world by being who he was to me, and I would also learn how he was to many other people.

At least I know he changed my world and my parents' world. He is why we don't just accept transpeople in a closeted backseat way.

He is why I am openly vocal for acceptance and caring about transpeople, being their friends. And protecting transgender people.

It was such a strange coincidence again that his favorite band TØP would make a song with his namesake just 2-3 years after he died. It was poetic and sad.

Idr if you’ve mentioned before, but what was your opinion on the whole “bi-generation” thing in the new dr who specials? Ive heard alot of differing opinions on it

I'm split- ha, ha- on how I feel. I don't like it from a Doylist perspective, but I can appreciate it Watsonianly, if that makes sense? I'll go with my negative feelings first.

One one hand, it feels like a very obvious "Bring David Tennant Back" button that RTD can press at any time. A generous interpretation would be that it feels like RTD got too attatched to David Tennant as the Doctor and is too afraid to kill his darling, and only killed him last time because someone was going to showrun after him. Bi-generation denies Ncuti being the focus of his own introduction- (while I do think he stole every scene he was in, its the principle of not having to share his introduction with anyone else, you know?). It's also left semi-unexplained why this even happened, how did the Doctor's body decide the regeneration after 13 was the one where it was official he needed to settle down, and then bi-generate so he could live with Donna and her family? I hate that Fourteen didn't really even "die", and while it seems like he will at some point in the future and merge back into 15, and then become 15- it breaks your immersion and feels super obvious that RTD did this so David Tennant didn't have to die. I'm also not a fan of RTD saying that there are bi-generated versions of every Doctor out there somewhere, all existing at the same time. I like how regeneration acts as death, and that the Doctor has to face that, but here we never get the catharsis of death and rebirth. A less kind interpretation of this decision could say that this might have happened because Disney didn't want RTD killing off the most profitable and popular version of the Doctor from the 21st century, so they can keep using him in spin-offs like that UNIT one that appears to be confirmed.

But in terms of in-universe storytelling, it's really sweet? 14 and 15 are overjoyed by each other's presence and go for that hug immediately, and are wonderfully in sync. David and Ncuti interacting was the absolute highlight of the episode, they bounce off each other perfectly and seeing 15 assure 14 that he'll be okay was very touching. 14 settling down and living with Donna is really nice in a fanfictiony way, you know? I'd love to write about 14 starting to live a human life while still being himself, becoming a part of the Noble family and working on healing from all of his scars, the dead companions and all the people he's failed to save. 14 healing from his trauma and taking a break also gives 15 a blank slate for the show's narrative to get new viewers, and face new threats.

To summarize- bi-generation so 14 can live a domestic life is nice fanfiction, I kind of wish it wasn't canon, but also this is the single most joyous hug I've ever seen in my life

"Hello Rosie" episode review

We see the aftermath of Charlie’s visit to Heaven, and it sounds like Rosie will be in this episode. SPOILERS.

Though it hurts, Husk bringing up if Charlie is actually helping is a reasonable understanding given the things that have happened, some fans have even brought this up in theories. I still wonder if the reaction we quickly see from Charlie is still related to some kind of trauma she has based on a time she didn’t help someone and it ruined that person’s life.

Vaggie said she and Charlie share a room, again like I said for “Dad Bead Dad” it’s still adorable to know they sleep in the same room.

Apparently fans were arguing if Charlie had hooves or not after a sneak peek of the upcoming episode was posted. Since we’ve seen angels/demons change their forms and its confirmed that Lilith and Lucifer and shapeshift, Lilith with her horns and Lucifer was seen in the first episode transforming from a snake to his average appearance, I say Vivize should retcon this a bit and say Charlie also has shapeshifting powers, in this case she can have hooves for walking on harder surfaces but regular feet for whenever she is on the beach or wants to enjoy the grass between her toes. This is one of the few chances where everyone can be right in a (odd) debate, while also being a free pass for the artist if they ever forget this fact. Plus this gives Charlie the power of transformation, good if you are like me and wouldn’t mind Charlie being in an episode of Death Battle one day. The fact that there are shoes near her bed seem to confirm this. That and/or there is shoe wear in Hell for people with hooves, which could explain an old theory I read about Blitzo since people had a similar debate about him since he wears cowboy boots and being possibly a hybrid demon.

Oh here we go. It’s been regularly brought up that Al is up to no good and wants to use Charlie to advance his plans, Alastor even tried to make a deal with Charlie in the pilot, but now that Charlie is emotionally vulnerable and Vaggie isn’t there to stop her, its likely she will make a deal that will come back to bite her later in the series. This is even scarier ever since it was reveled in the Helluva Boss episode “Oops” that deals with sins are “everlastingly binding” and like I said in my review of the episode, this likely means a deal with the royal family of Hell are taken even MORE seriously.

Nice to see Razzle and Dazzle caring for Charlie.

I wonder what would have happened if we got a scene of Charlie getting emotional when she realizes she is in a blanket cocoon, since cocoons tare associated with butterflies and moths.

Woah, even though it’s been show that Charlie will curse I’d never imagine her calling Alastor an asshole…at least not in this season.

I know Charlie is beating herself up, but I think she is overreacting about comparing herself to Overlords, especially after dealing with Val. I think it would have been better if she had said something like “how am I any different than any other evil person/corrupted person/demon out for souls?”

Al’s speech about smiling sounds like some The Joker would say. I’m also hearing some clear hints that Alastor is up to something, but luckily for him Charlie is too bummed out to noticed.

Charlie brings up a good question, how long have Charlie and Vaggie been dating at this point? Was there ever a confirmation on this? I mean they met when they wore their outfits from the pilot so it probably isn’t that long, but it would still be good to know. Also before it was revealed she was a former Exorcist, did Vaggie use a made up backstory related to the old ideas of her being sinner who died in an accident/suicide?

I think this is the first time we seen Al’s shadow form take over his body.

For those that recall, in Alastor’s prequel comic he plucked a flower that instantly wilted in his hand. It’s odd that the leaf didn’t do something similar unless it only works when he wants it to or on pretty flows.

I know Al is asexual, but he is getting to Adam and Val level of creepy pervert on Charlie. If this keeps up Lucifer and Lilith will have another name on their list of people they have to beat up for making Charlie be uncomfortable.

I’m loving how assertive Charlie is to Alastor, hopefully we can see this side of her more often soon mix with her nice personality.

Al definitely wants Charlie to hurt someone, though I bet he will trick her into getting someone in a position where they can get hurt.

I knew this deal was coming, but it still terrifying to see.

LOVE that Charlie isn’t THAT mad/holding a big grudge at Vaggie for not telling her she was an Exorcist, as I agree with others who saw the last episode and thought her doing so on a major level would have made her a hypocrite. At least the negativity she is feel is more logical/fair given its still a big shock to her. I also have something to say related to the topic but I’ll save that for the end of this review.

Let’s keep an eye out on the Eggboi’s statement about bank accounts. I strangely feel like it’s going to be related to Mammon. Maybe its foreshadowing something for Helluva Boss as I like the idea of an episode where Mammon tries to get Fizz back and maybe does so by threatening Ozzie’s finances who Mammon owns to a degree through one of his banks.

It was touching seeing Vaggie show care for the others safety. It shows how much she has grown to love them in her own way, and how good of a leader/ 2nd in command she really is.

Confirmation that Charlie and Vaggie have been together for 3 years now. Admittedly not that bad when to keeping secrets, plus can you really blame Vaggie that much. Even if Charlie was okay when she found out Vaggie’s past, there is the chance this could have increased the chances of Vaggie’s identity being caught and make both of them targets by anti-angel haters or worse a hellborn demon in charge of taking care of problems like this, such as my Agent t OC.

You can see that Alastor is totally bored with Charlie’s little rant XD.

We have seen Charlie in Cannibal district a few times, so it’s kind of odd that she doesn’t know how pleasant it can be. Then again last time she was there she got corpse blood in her eye, but I might count it as very small continuity error. Maybe if they had her say a line like “I don’t come here much due to the well..cannibalism”.

ROSIE! The voice is good but I’m surprised they didn’t go for a British/Mary Poppin like voice, mostly cause it would have been another nice difference if we ever get a scene of Alastor hanging out with both Mimzy and Rosie and the same time.

So Rosie is a “butcher” in a way.

Wait was Rosie flirting there for a minute? :3 Eh it’s okay but, I rather/still hope to see a bit of Almimzy next season.

I just want to point out how Alastor identifies Charlie as the child of Lucifer and heir to the throne of Hell, and how he doesn’t bring up Lilith. Yeah I can see it showing that he might want a way to the power related to the throne but I’m more focused on him not bringing up Lilith as there might be something there.

Alastor and Rosie have likely known each other for so long that Rosie probably knows what Alastor really means even from just a few of his words.

It’s a pretty smart writing move to have Charlie deal with Rosie while Vaggie deals is Carmilla, as they are very similar to each other which of course is why they click better than if one went to the other Overlord.

Carmilla has a ballerina like fighting style. Her dialogue also makes it sound like she is going to teach Vaggie on how to fight the Exorcist “Karate Kid” style.

insert “Susan equals Karen” joke here but who cares about that, the bigger question is if she is Rosie’s mother.

I laughed when I heard Susan said Charlie had big eyes, as this reminds me of a Star Trek Lower Decks joke about how the characters there also have big eyes, and it’s the same with Charlie here XD.

Looks likes Charlie took her dad’s advice of “take no shit from demons” a little too hard here XD. I also want to point out that Charlie lost it when Susan called her showmanship mediocre, fitting given her and her father’s ringmaster theme XD.

“Carmilla training Vaggie” confirmed. We also clearly see how Carmilla defeated it (if she really did, I’m still not 100% convinced yet) cause if she can beat Vaggie then she can beat an Exorcist.

I did have a feeling Vaggie would be a bit rusty with fighting, but the idea that she hasn’t fought since she got her long hair is a bit odd. Then again with Charlie not being big about violence, it makes sense that she hasn’t honed her fighting skills as much.

Carmilla looks nice with her hair down. I also noticed that she doesn’t have horns unlike her daughters making me still wonder a bit if her kids are biologically hers or if they were adopted. Odette “horns” do seem to be some kind of hair tie so I could see her being Carmilla’s biological daughter.

Carmilla was channeling Hazbin Hotel theorist energy there for a minute XD.

Carmilla again backs up my old idea from “Overture” about how the writers should have made it so that there were usually casualties in Exterminations but the one from the season premiere was the worst one yet thus leading Adam to exterminate earlier than usual.

So Carmilla is telling Vaggie to “go for the head”. Also again Vaggie supports my previous statement.

Carmilla did kill the exorcist, which is okay to me. Unless she is still lying to a degree, like what if she did wound it but it was only killed when the person Carmilla is covering for came to help. Not all flashback in cartoons/anime are true after all. I mean must I remind Avatar fans of “The Great Divide”? Hopefully not.

Now I’m liking the idea of Vaggie and Carmilla being friends.

VAGGIE’S WINGS ARE BACK! I mean it was expected but still damn that scene was intense. That or she always had them but hid them for so long that maybe she forgot how to summon them. Dumb follow up but could this strangely lead to a scene of the exorcist head just regrowing a body Deadpool/Alucard style? Probably not but it would be an interesting twist.

DON’T TELL HER ANYTHING CHALRIE! SHE’S A GOSSIPER! NOOOOO!

By the tell of Rosie’s tone, I’m guessing she did something that hurt someone she loved. Could she have had a hand in the death of the Franklin character from the pilot/Alastor comic and regrets it to this day?

Ooo Alastor is allowing Charlie to use his cane. I once heard that the cane was an extent of Alastor himself, so is this the equivalent of holding hands to him XD.

I wonder if that spotlight is foreshadowing something, like maybe an angel is showing other angels what Charlie is doing. Hopefully it’s a good thing.

Was Charlie saddle comment her flirting? She is canonically bi but I haven’t seen much of that so far.

(Cannibals start singing) There’s the Mary Poppins vibe!

Again did Charlie not hear what Alastor (and Rosie) were just saying?

Aww Chaggie is so PURE!

I don’t care at this point, I’m counting Niffty’s stain friend Fred as a von Eldritch reference.

Love that the episode ended with Charlie and Vaggie holding hands.

That was a good episode. Things are building up to not only the finale, but also in general like Alastor is advancing his still enigmatic plans which is definitely going to bite back at Charlie likely next season.

It was fun seeing the main character interacting with more of the reoccurring ones especially fan favorites.

I really liked how they still had Charlie and Vaggie make amends while also advancing the story for the finale. I mean I do agree that the first season of Hazbin Hotel should have had more episodes, more on that in the finale, but it’s great that they didn’t do a whole episode dedicated to them getting back together. Besides such an episode should be saved when they have a proper fight like Vaggie is tired of Charlie not listening to her or Charlie gets mad when Vaggie keeps trying to warn her that her mother Lilith (or the Imposter posing as Lilith) is up to no good.

The only downsides are minor things like not learning if Rosie and Susan are related, which I’ve headcanoned for a while now or taking some time to explain more about Cannibal Colony like why the citizens there all dress in old timey clothes. The artist also missed out on the chance of having Martha and her family from Helluva Boss making a cameo unless she did and missed it.

I’m also 50/50 on Carmilla killing the Exorcist as I still think it could have been more dramatic if she was lying about it. Maybe she still is and we later find out that someone told her this info as part of a plan in exchange for not telling the truth.

Next time it’s the season 1 finale! Get ready for a review of that VERY SOON! What did you think about the episode.

How different ocs sleep Caede tales edition because I wanna sleep so bad but i need to wake up and do things [Under cut as always because it got Long !]

/-> Mary

- Can sleep pretty much anywhere, but likes sleeping near somebody the most because it grants her a nice feeling of safety. Huge cuddler too, so if there is someone near she'll usually cling onto them like a baby sloth.

- Likes having tons of pillows in bed for comfort, but also just as a little luxury for herself. When Mary was growing up, she never got to have many pillows because she usually had to share it with like 50 other people, so now she'll have a ton of them as confirmation that now she can do whatever she wants and doesn't have to limit her joys like she did anymore. Also, it stops her from falling out of bed and keeps her head elevated so she doesn't snore ♡

- Tends to get cold pretty easily, so she'll usually have two or so blankets thrown over her body. I like to think it's those patterned grandma ones or maybe something she herself crocheted. Absolute hogger of the blankets.

- Sleeps pretty heavily, but will wake up if something is too close for comfort. Pandora tends to be noisy in general, but it doesn't hurt to pay attention to your surroundings if something sounds a little too close to your house. Can wake up on command though, so it's not a huge deal, she can always make a quick escape if she feels like a situation could be escalating in proximity to her home.

- Always sleeps in just a liiiittle bit longer than she has to as another luxury owed to herself. Used to have to get up earlier than the sun so she wasn't attacked by anything, so now she delights in having the possibilities of being able to give herself a nice long rest.

- Has a designated set of pajama clothes she wears every night to sleep. They're nice and pink and she got them as a gift from her husband, so she cherishes them deeply.

- Can only sleep in his own dedicated room. Otherwise he's rawdogging all-nighters. No he will not fall asleep there may be a Scary Creature outside and he has to protect everyone from it.

- Doesn't like pillows. Prefers his body completely straight. Yes he's that fucking guy. Only has one pillow and it's rock solid, it's more of like a really soft slab than an actual thing you should lay your head on.

- Literally always hot as hell so he doesn't need blankets either. He may freeze to death but you won't catch him comfy like some kind of PUSSY. Does like the ones Mary has though and will accept them if it means he gets to cuddle her.

- Barely able to sleep, and when he sleeps he can be woken up from a bug farting 5 miles away. Extremely light sleeper.

- Only ever sleeps the most minimal amount of time he needs to, and then gets up. Despises feeling relaxed because he sees it as a sign of weakness that all of his enemies will exploit the second they find out. And they will find out because there's a person out there who wants him dead at all times and who watches him. What do you mean this is a symptom of OCD. Stop patronizing me.

- Just sleeps naked. Can't be bothered. He's that guy.

- Sleeps in the basement to remedy his paranoia about people getting into his room to kill him, first and foremost. Basement is also just where he works most often, so whenever he gets insomnia (often) he'll just go and work on whatever project he has going on.

- When he does sleep however, he has like 8 different pillows. Two for his head, one for the stump, one for keeping between his legs, one for hugging and the rest are spread around the bed so whenever he rolls around he doesn't bonk his head and die [paranoia thing again].

- Blanket wise... he doesn't have much going on. It's just like the oldest rag you've ever seen thrown over him, mostly on his legs, and he sleeps with it like it's the coziest thing ever. In reality he only ever uses one because the part that gets the coldest is almost always his leg stump, even when it's properly covered and taken care of, because the bastard has poor circulation there and the ghost sensations don't make it any better. Would definetly benefit from a weighed blanket however. He loves feeling smushed into his own body <3

- The lightest heavy sleeper on the market. You could play several drums around him while he sleeps and it'll be chill for him, he'll probably just mumble in his sleep about it, but if you minimally touch him or any of his things he awakens with fury only previously known in brown bears defending their territory. Can pretty much fall asleep anywhere with the right setup, but will wake up way easier than if he's in his room.

- Wakes up earlier than the sun because nights are really long and "who's got time to wait that long?". But also because he physically can't sleep longer than like 5 hours without waking up groggy and grumpy. Takes plenty of naps throughout the day to make up for it

- Pajamas wise he'll just throw an old t-shirt on and shorts. Low effort king ♡

/-> Archer

- Sleeps in his room and ONLY in his room. If he doesn't have a designated place of sleep he will stay up making a safe-spot for himself and sleep with a knife in his hands. Not so much out if paranoia like Jonah but because Archer feels inadequate sleeping in places that aren't for him, not to mention it's really unsafe.

- He only has two pillows– One really thick one for his head, and one regular for holding in his sleep. If he doesn't have anything to hold onto when he's sleeping he tends to get anxious and have nightmares and whimper in the middle of the night, so the way he remedies it is by having something to keep him company like when he was a child. If he doesn't have a pillow he'll settle for just clinging onto whoever may be nearest or a blanket though.

- His blanket game is Insane. See, Pandora is a desert, which means the days are long and hot while the nights are unbearably cold, and since his circulation is really bad he would get cold as hell if he didn't cover up properly. This often meant he had like 4 different blankets. [from top to bottom: 1- Bed cover 2- Thick fluffy blanket with like a tiger patterned on it 3- Second slightly less thick blanket that still has some texture to help keeping warm 4- Simple little sheet inbetween thick blankets to make texture more tolerable]

- Moderately a heavy sleeper. He's used to not being able to sleep often, so when he does, he makes sure to absolutely conk out until he's needed again. However, with sufficient noise, he'll be back awake in no time. Used to having to wake back up first when something goes wrong, so it's nothing he's unfamiliar with.

- Always wakes up early to start the day on the right foot, even if it means having to force his way to the right foot. Used to do it because he had people to take care of who needed him, but now does it to feel productive.

- For Pjs, Archer always has matching sets. He prefers it because that way he always has clothes for sleeping separated, and that way he never has to go scavenging for it in his "closet". Always wears long sleeves and pants too.

- Sleeps anywhere if there's company. Used to share a room with his siblings as a twee young girl, so nowadays he likes having at least someone in his room to help him fall asleep. Usually sleeps on people too because the contact is comforting, especially when it's warm.

- Pillow-wise, Salt will sleep with any number of pillows available so long as it's a number higher than 0. Finds ways to be comfortable that befuddle everyone around them, genuinely the most chill when it comes to sleep set-ups because he'll just roll himself into a pretzel anyway. It doesn't hurt his back somehow. He's just like built different.

- Blankets are never a need for Salt, just an added bonus. This girl can rawdog a full night of sleep just with like a tshirt and shorts on. Doesn't usually feel the temperature too badly, but if he does he'll just pop his jacket on and sleep with it. Blankets are appreciated for group sleeping though, because he knows the texture of the jacket isn't for everyone and he wants the most comfort for the group. Prefers those big fluffy heavy pillows above anything else if he has to pick though.

- REALLY heavy sleeper. You could blow up an entire mountain of dynamite directly outside his window and the most he'll react with is "mmgmgg. five more minutes......"

- Usually sleeps in until a little later in the day because he doesn't usually sleep very long, so when he gets the chance he'll relish it and stay asleep for as long as they can bring themselves to. Only wakes up when someone else comes do looking for him <3.

- Puts on a tanktop and sweatpants and calls it a day. Unless other people convinces him that an actual set of pjs would be more comfortable, Salt can collapse in anything he's already wearing and it'll still be enough for him.

- Has trained herself to sleep anywhere and everywhere. Cold hard floor? Don't mind if she sleeps. Sitting down on chair? Asleep already, so comfy. Meditating? Zzzzzz. Knows no one is stupid enough to awaken a jaguar during their sleep, and fully takes advantage of it.

- Doesn't need much for pillows honestly. One pillow would be adequate, two is great, three is way too much. Sleeps straight and facing up like a wooden board. If it wasn't for the way her chest moves while she breathes, you would 100% assume she was dead or something. Only has one really specific need when it comes to comforts like this: let her keep her plushie in her arms while she sleeps and there'll be no trouble. Otherwise she is either going to leave or kill you.

- Also doesn't need a blanket. It's still appreciated, especially on colder nights, but it's a commodity, not a necessity. If she absolutely needs it though she'll usually just get a sheet and call it a day.

- Light sleeper to a fault. Even though she knows people won't try to mess with her, in Pandora you never know thr kinds of threats that might be lurking and getting ready to attack, so she's taught herself to wake up whenever she hears a noise that's not usual to her, or that might be getting too close. When she meets up with the other hireguns this eventually evolves into downright insomnia because these overgrown babies definetly have people who might be coming for them so it's her duty to keep them safe. Or, erm, because she wants to make sure their enemies don't come to HER. Obviously.

- Likes wearing her matched spotted pjs and nothing else. Don't you try to make her wear anything else. You WILL get hurt. This is hardly a joke.

- Melaine is complicated when it comes to sleep. She gets homesick very easily and often misses her home, so she needs to get really cozy first before she can even fathom sleep. And even then it's not a guarantee ze'll catch any sleep, because zir brain often works in weird complicated ways and it's not like ze can just *choose* to fall asleep. That would make too much sense. But yeah, once Melaine feels safe in a space, she can pretty much conk out whenever, but it takes a lot of warming up.

- Only needs 3 pillows: Two for her head and one for her arms so she can hug it. The alternative to this is just to keep it between zir legs, but the idea is to just stop zir moving around in zir sleep like a Beetle that can't get up from its back, and it makes zir sleep really bad too.. Enter:

- BIG HEAVY WEIGHED BLANKET. It keeps her from squirming in her sleep, having nightmares and in general just makes her feel cozy due to the weight pressing down on her. She likes to think of it as the feeling of a bug being under a really big leaf or perhaps a cute girl's book page after she turns it ♡ but um. Yeah. Aside from that she also likes having a warm little blanket underneath to compliment the weight.

- Zir quality of sleep is literally never consistent. Due to the frequent night terrors and essentially non-existent sleep schedule as a whole, Melaine either sleeps like a rock and doesn't wake up at all or ze sleeps really bad and has to take medication to stay awake. It entirely depends on how well ze's performing at work that day– if it was a good shift and everything turned out how it was meant to, she'll sleep like a baby, nice and relaxed and barely even dreaming at all, but if it was a chaotic session or if people die or if it goes too wild, she'll spend the whole night awake thinking why that was, why she didn't perform as well, etc etc. Sometimes noises wake her up, sometimes she'll sleep through world shattering events. Sometimes she doesn't need to take meds, sometimes its an everynight ritual. Real wild card when it comes to sleep.

- Melaine loves having cute pjs and that's most of her "casual" wardrobe. Has always prioritized comfort above everything since she was a young girl, so she always has the best combos for the night. Usually patterned with cute bugs and other such things, especially with little glitter sparkles. Especially likes big sweaters with little shorts as combos because it permits most thermodynamic possible sleep ♡

Let me think of a question yes it is the ask box....... Would you be okay sharing more about the spirits you work with? I don't need like a list of details but more like, how have they impacted your life, I guess? And what is your relationship to them

As is my habit, I'll begin at the end.

There is nothing new written under the jump. Rather, it is all observations and statements I have made over time about spirits that long-time readers will recognize immediately.

"Adiutor" is a familiar given to me by Malphas for reasons only known to him. I didn't ask for her, and when she first made her appearance, it took Malphas holding me still and formally introducing her for me to believe it. She had a different nom de plume in my public writings for a while, but wanted something formal after it became clear that Malphas may have given me a familiar, but what I received was a secretary.

She has helped me with the timing of some things, and the finding of some things, the working of some things, and the interaction of some things. To receive her meant creating a physical anchor for her, which I did in the form of a simple poppet. Something specific went into the body of that poppet such that when I'm calling upon her but I'm not in the immediate vicinity of the poppet, I feel that specific something inside the proper place within my body.

(So once upon a witching night, when something tried to lure me away claiming to be her, now you know why I knew at once that it wasn't her. You can't dupe the tell if you don't know what it is.)

She will assist with Cyprianic work, but anything "purely" angelic can fuck right on out. I've also noticed certain boundaries that she refuses to cross and boundaries that she will not cross, and I think it's best for all involved that I not try to force those issues.

"Hollow" is... a friend. He's not a familiar, not bound to direct service, not a servitor. What I know of his past is that he has been wandering for quite a while and found a nice cozy place to rest in the flame of an non-dedicated candle. When the candle extinguished I thought that would be the last of his presence, but all it took was another candle and here he is again.

I first thought he was a passing fire (aspected?) spirit that took opportunity of free room and board. But the other spirits in my krew kept telling me that he was one of the Wandering Dead and that I either needed to ground/house him, chase him off, or make him pass through, otherwise there would be trouble. What kind of trouble? The kind of trouble that come looking to make a lunch out of him and decide to make dinner out of me instead.

After some review of the matter, I offered Hollow a deal: Become part of my krew and be housed, but in return he has to work to my benefit, or move on because I found what would be coming for him shortly and I was not going to risk that hard a something for that much of a nothing. He chose to stay. A suitable ceramic device was obtained and he was installed in it via a ritual that went sideways at the worst possible time because of very terrifying reasons and confirmed that Hollow was once human and that it's always a good idea to research the peoples that were in the land that you are now because they may be gone but their ancestors and gods are still very much around.

He now keeps watch over my spaces and receives tea candles burned inside his container as payment and amusement. It's like watching an old man savoring a good cuppa tea.

"Patient Caller" is the reason I looked into St. Cyprian (of Antioch) and Cyprianic magic in the first place. During my time as a [Protestant] Christian, I had it firmly embedded in my head to avoid anything [Roman] Catholic, and of that anything regarding saints, and of them anything about Saint Cyprian in particular because he is an Evil Sorcerer™ in saintly robes. (Which was also justification for that church's literal demonization of anything Catholic because if the Catholics were too stupid to realize the demonic nature of St. Cyprian then nothing else about them could be trusted.)

I had always known he was "hanging around" me, but because reasons, he couldn't approach me unless I summoned him to me first. Which I did, over a literal life-changing series of thirty days.

Let's talk about learning the hard way that fire is hot, water is wet, and just because you can see spirits doesn't mean that you can do jacque shitte about it.

I had left Christianity for over a decade by the time I tried that series of summons. Oh, I was so sure of myself and my ability to magic. So sure that all I had to do was read these well-vetted words from the Book of Oberon, and use this half-fucked, school-glue stitched ritual to get exactly what I wanted from The Spirits™ without any repercussion whatsoever because I was a Magus™!

To the surprise of none of you readers, I got my ass kicked, coming and going. I became oath-bound to get a particular ring that would bind Patient Caller to me, bind me to the life of a magician, and bind me to a particular path of magic which in hindsight is hilarious as fuck, because it's the very path that the Christian churches I was in were willing to kill me to prevent. (That ring has been obtained.)

But, along the way, I took the steps necessary to get myself and my daughter out of a very dangerous situation and to start our lives over. I confronted several of my fears. I confronted portions of myself that I never wanted to consider, much less reconcile with.

Sometimes, because trauma, it is difficult for me to interact with anything Christian or Christianity-adjacent. The fact that I have TWO bibles in my book stacks is a minor miracle in itself. Patient Caller is there to help me pull myself through those Christianity-adjacent rituals. For all my pain, it is clear that this is one of my pathways, and that it is one I am very effective in working.

Because reasons, I have a deep belief that Patient Caller is a human spirit in service to St. Cyprian, that also happens to be in my physical lineage as well as my magical.

He regards Adiutor with deep amusement and considers her presence to be a mark of achievement and progress on my part as a magician.

"Horatio" The first one. A gift I did not ask for. An entity that I have written as "Rummer John" from the start (and will never acknowledge the name the rest of y'all know him by because reasons) once plucked a skull from his table and handed it to me with no instruction other than to take it.

Bloody fucking hell, I was so god damn naïve. Grade-A Dumbass. No knowledge or understanding of what RJ had done. No consideration of the responsibility that had just been forced on me. Just glitter and butterflies and isn't it unethical for me, a descendant of slaves, to be the master of a spirit tee hee? This is a modern time and these are modern ways and aren't people like me supposed to be working for the enlightenment of humanity as a whole and the raising of the global consciousness? Shouldn't I be working to free the spirit trapped in the skull than to, I dunno, put the spirit to work?

The White Magic (pun very fucking much intended) that I had been taught by those few practitioners I had found around my town had taught me that I had a duty to only work good works and that the lesser, primitive magics that involved binding the spirits of the dead was unethical and the mark of a wounded soul. The few that I felt safe telling my story to impressed upon me a necessity to release Horatio "into the Light™" as soon as possible.

I found out the hard way that RJ had bound Horatio to me in such a way that the only way to release him from my service is for me to die first. Like. Literal death.

I didn't know what to do with him, so I let him do anything. A couple of years of bullshit later, he allowed me to get hurt by an avoidable harm that left physical marks. I finally realized I was way over my head and sought council of someone I trusted. That someone dragged me through the school of hard knocks while also teaching me how to be a spirit's master, and of that all I can say is that there is nothing in mainstream culture that will ever prepare you for the world of the spirits. The only way to cross that river is to get in, learn to swim, and hope you survive the effort.

Horatio earned that moniker when he found out that I had been writing publicly of him but using a name other than what he had given me. He demanded to be called "Yorick" after that one reference in that one play, but by that time I was starting to get tired of his shit and said no, that I would write "Horatio" instead because he didn't earn the right to be called out with respect. (It is a common error to say the name of the skull in that play is Horatio instead of Yorick. And the skull in that play is regarded reverently for reasons far beyond what I can get into here. But trust me, the 'misname' was a deliberate slight.)

In time I learned that Horatio could intervene for me regarding a certain class of spirits. A class that I was excluded from direct interaction with because of my (lack of) upbringing and cultural descent. In exploring that possibility, I learned more about myself, my heritage(s) that my family lineages did not want to acknowledge, and that some connections can and will jump barriers deliberate and ignorant.

He is currently keeping watch over my space with Hollow, with whom he superficially bickers with even as they watch each other's metaphorical backs. But as my studies into what I can and can't do keep turning in upon itself, I have a strong feeling that I am going to bring him back to the fore.

There are others. Ancestors. Gods. Powers. Forces of the land. Angels of divinity. Angels that have nothing to do with divinity. Things I see awake. Things I see in dreams. Things I see when 'hypnogogia' is too sterile a word for the state I am in. There is a dragon I pass to and from work but our worlds are not aligned well anymore so we just nod in mutual muted awareness as I go.

There are entities that I will no longer speak of because the world has changed and what was a trivial thing to muse upon before would be disrespectful to whisper in code now.

There are entities I encountered in oath-bound rituals that I can't speak of, and entities that I had encountered prior to those rituals, but because of their involvement, I will never speak publicly of them again.

I really thought my world had become small and that I had lost sight of so much. But in working out what to write here and what to write about, I realize that I haven't lost sight of anything. I just forgot to look up. I had... am... permitting the mundanity of taxes and reports and meetings to take over space that had been set aside for the world that encompasses such things.

I thought I had lost my touch.

I forgot what it is to feel.

MDHM JAMES - LORE AND SPECULATIONS

A/N: Hello bestie, this is my first time doing a post like this, so please excuse any crappy writing or whatnot, I just wanted to share some thoughts about him since it’s apparently James time on the offical MDHM tumblr.

Any and all images included in this post are plucked from the offical My Dear Hatchet Man twitter and tumblr, and all mentioned cannon facts are also from tweets and posts from Gnome, full credit to them!

Okay, okay, sorry for any harshness from jumping right into it, but i’m really not good at smooth transitions, lets start talking about our edgy boys personality!

James looks like a confident man— you could probably tell just by the way he holds himself, somebody who’s anxious or self conscious would be hunched in on themselves, tense and glancing around nervously, yeah?

Look at him, the asshole smirk, the pose, the sunglasses, that’s the look of a man who’s confident as shit, right?

Actually, evidence shows that isn’t exactly it, at least not entirely, whilst he’s confident in his abilities or whatnot, hence how he holds his crowbar so casually against his shoulder as apposed to braced and ready for a fight.

I think this shows he isn’t concerned about his physical strength in himself, somebody who wasn’t confident in that aspect would want to get the advantage of being ready if a threat reared itself, they’d have their weapon ready, scanning everything around them.

But clearly, his weapon is rested against his shoulder, still there and ready but not lined up to strike the second something mildly threatening shows up.

With the smirk and tipped sunglasses, it is it’s seals the deal he isn’t a anxious person, I would argue he’s the chillest of the brothers, it’s been confirmed that he can be chaotic, but he is the youngest brother and I know from experience they can be wild.

But even with that, I still argue he’s probably the chillest brother because of his social life.

Nick and James are confirmed to be friends, it’s something that became a meme of sorts, because look at them! Of course they’d be friends.

If you look at the offical Sunny Day Jack tumblr, you can see I’ve sent in a ask (that they replied too real speedy might I add) about where the events of SDJ took place.

No further specifics have been revealed, but they told me that the in-game story took place in Texas! (Yeeee-haw!), which means that James is most likely located there or somewhere extremely close.

And if you read the demo, it’s stated that Nick came in on the first day, where he asked sunshine if they worked there, with a group of guys surrounding him, most likely his group of friends that’ve been mentioned a few times.

It wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume James might’ve been one of those guys, and even if he wasn’t present in that moment, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t often hang out around Nick and his bros.

That’d mean he has a circle of friends, and that could be expanded past just that specific group, which supports my theory of James actually having a thriving social life, and uh, night life as well, see down below.

With all the James brain-rot that’s been going on with the offical MDHM tumblr at the time of writing this, I’m honestly not surprised he has one of the highest body counts.

Anyways, back to the topic, a thriving social life needs some work on yourself to actually happen, I think he might be more easy-going and again, chill to attract that many people in his circle.

So overall, he’s probably a pleasant person to be around, despite his obvious smug and snarky demeanour.

So why do I think he’s not as confident as he seems? Well, we have to discuss one more thing before I get into that, which I think will help tie in my theory about his real personality nicely.

It’s everybody’s favourite topic, the Yandere tendencies!

As you can see, James isn’t really a violent kind of guy, he’s the more grounded one in the family and leans more into passive aggressiveness.

This post isn’t about Alan, but to understand James better I’ll need to dip a bit into his character and Yandere fundamentals.

Alan is clearly very insecure, not in the ‘I hate myself kind of way’ but in his relationship with doe-eyes, he’s jealous and possessive, making him kick anybody who he deems as a threat shit in, and since he’s insecure, he deems anybody as a threat.

James isn’t like that, if he doesn’t feel the need to defend every minute of his relationship with his babydoll, he’ll only get physical with those who actually pose a real threat.

His characteristics all point to him being a confident, self assured man all the way through, right? So why do I think otherwise?

On the outside, he holds the aforementioned persona, but on the inside, he carries low self esteem, he doesn’t think highly of himself.

He wouldn’t think he’s worth his babydoll, meaning he’d most likely think very highly of them, he just doesn’t see himself as the type of guy who could treat them how they deserve.

I know from personal experience how it feels to not what to burden your partner with your rough childhood, and I really see that as something for him, he might think he’s too messy for you.

I don’t think he fares well with handling his emotions despite how much he actually does care, choosing to drink away his feelings instead of facing them, he might’ve gotten stunted due to his EQ not being properly nurtured in childhood.

But he does care, I think internally, he cares a hell of a lot, and is definitely the type to show it through his actions, it was recently confirmed that the reason he taught himself ASL and Morse code was because his step-sister, Kennedy, is actually deaf.

He hated how emotionally distant Alan and Claude were, which makes me believe he really did crave a connection, a bro-ship with them.

In the demo, on day two, where Alan was discussing his school and home life with doe-eyes, he never said anything bad about James, said they got along pretty well before the fallout, but never said anything explicitly good about him, about how protective/caring I’ve speculated him to be.

Maybe this is my own projection, but James has been confirmed to have been a rebellious child, basically he wanted to feel in control and such since his home life changed so often.

But in my own personal head-cannon, I think that also stemmed from how pent up he felt, his mother was constantly in and out of hospital and his father isn’t shown to be the most vulnerable emotionally.

He had no way of expressing his emotions healthily, he doesn’t seem like the type to be amazing at words so verbal was off the table, he couldn’t express much, especially how much he cared for Alan.

Maybe if he did, Alan wouldn’t have distanced himself as much, even one strong connection can make such a different in somebodies journey of grief, maybe if James was able to properly express how much he loved Alan, our dear hatchet man wouldn’t be the way he is now.

Of course, that didn’t happen, and instead, to let out the pent up frustration at his situation and the feeling he couldn’t quite let out, he rebelled.

His dad seems to be the most present out of all the brothers, but he seems to also hold a tough love type approach.

This does verge on a stereotype, and perhaps I’m wrong, but the type of man who is a tough love farmer that’ll kick his trouble-making sons ass doesn’t seem like to the type to be all emotional with his kid.

If James was a trouble maker as a child, I can see how their relationship would suffer when he kept rebelling.

‘Trouble’ is very vague, and I doubt it’s meant as if James was rude towards his mom, it seems like their mother is actually well liked amongst the boys despite any resentment that might’ve stemmed.

Instead, maybe it’s meant more as his mom dealing with the trouble he made outside the home, perhaps going as far as pissing off the police and getting his ass dragged back to her doorstep, said cops in tow.

I don’t think he’d get in much trouble for it though, with her at least, I can imagine she might feel some guilt, blaming herself for the situation she’s had a hand in creating making her son act out like that.

And if had a tendency to let him off the hook out of guilt, well that’d only enable him to keep doing it, and of course, if his dad was the only one who’d punish him, I could see how he might have some beef with him as apposed to his mom, who he didn’t mind as much because she let him keep doing it.

This is there mom, by the way! I don’t think a photo of his dad has been dropped yet, but if I’m wrong, let me know!

Hey, you made it this far! I’ve pretty much vomited out all of my personal headcannons and facts i’ve gathered from hyperfixating, but that also means i have some random ass lore gathered from combing through Twitter and Tumblr.

MISCELLANEOUS FACTS I’VE PICKED UP

James has been confirmed to have el tits but apparently no ass.

James favourite season is summer.

He’s the cool uncle who shouldn’t be watching kids because allegedly he might definitely involve them in minor misdemeanours. 😀

His favourite colour is rust orange.

James and Alan shared a room when they were younger.

James is a Leo! Born on August 7th.

He calls his step-sister Kennedy, Kenny!

James actually celebrates Christmas (or thanksgiving, can’t remember) with his dads side of the family.
