Undertale headcanon: How long live monsters?
In the game, it was not so much information about monsters aging; you can't even tell what kind of century today. (But some valid theories proves that it's 211X year)
For giving answers, we need to look for many facts, so this post have 3 parts:
I. Age assumptions.
II. Are ghosts and Gerson exceptions?
Bonus: protagonist(s) age.
Let's begin.
I. Age assumptions.
In common, we have three options:
Monsters live shorter than humans;
Monsters live longer than humans;
Monsters live as long as humans.
Have you already noticed what I highlighted? Good. But let's check all.
---- Can monsters race have live less than humans race? ----
Yes. But not most of them.
We know that the monster's body is weaker than human's one, but it doesn't mean that it affects how long monsters can live. Rather, it means that after losing hope or will to life, the monster's body starts destroying and monster dying. According to some dialogs, many monsters fall into depression; they can live less just because of it.
---- Can monsters race have live more than humans race? ----
Yes. But not most of them. (Did I repeat myself?)
We can name some of long-livers, but they exception, not rule:
Boss monsters (Asgore, Toriel, Asriel);
Ghosts (Dummy, Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew, Napstablook, Mettaton/Hapstablook);
Gerson.
...or, after all, are only Boss monsters?
II. Are ghosts and Gerson exceptions?
Monsters are mostly made of magic.
Tumblr media
Not fully, mostly. Some parts of monster's body are physical; it's highly possible that these physical matter turn into dust after the monster's death.
How much of a monster is magic is unknown, but we can say that it's variable:
Undyne in Genocide Route can gain enough determination for surviving after death hit and don't melt like in Neutral Route, so she for sure has more physical matter that regular monsters;
Napstablook (and other ghosts as well) literally have no body (only if they fused with physical object like robot or dummy).
What it gives to us?
Determination is a will to life. It's the reason why Amalgamates can't die after injection; if monsters have both determination and enough physical matter, they can live a long time.
But what about ghosts? They can't be killed (only with magic attack), and according to Napstablook Undernet nickname (NAPSTABLOOK22) and some dialog (that proves he could know Toriel before she locked yourself in Ruins), we can say that he lives for a long time:
Tumblr media
After all, the queen is or was highly interested in his farm:
Tumblr media
Without physical matter (or with very-very small number of it), monsters fully depend on their soul. So... they can die naturally only after losing hope. It's pretty close to immortality, isn't it?
And the last one: Gerson, who is... turtle. Turtle can live more than 100 years; monsters turtle probably even more. If live also depends on species, we can say that Fuku Fire and Grillby (for example) also have a long life: fire can exist for hundreds years.
---- Can monsters race have live the same as humans race? ----
Yes. Most of them.
War was a long time ago when humans still used swords and armor:
Tumblr media
In the Dark Ages, a person who lives 40 years already counted as long-liver. From this perspective, of course, monsters live longer than humans!
But what about nowadays? After all, now humans life is at least twice as much as before.
It's a good question, and we can give the answer because of...
Burgerpants.
Who is 19 years old, already finished his study at school, started working and disappointing in life. He is regular monster. And he's speed of growing is close to humans. So, probably, life too.
Summing up all of the above, we have something like this:
Tumblr media
Mostly monsters live as much as humans.
Bonus: protagonist(s) age.
Frisk and Chara's sprites are the same size, so they probably have the same age (+- 1 year). What else can we say?
They are old enough for reading;
They aren't interested in toys in Toriel's house;
They know concepts of love (can flirt and ask for romance advice) and dating;
And they understand the conception of death and killing.
Also, Frisk are just a little older than Monster Kid (their sprite are higher), who is very childish and naive.
So, their age should be 11-13 years: they can act and feel themself as adult, but for mostly all people around, they are still small children.
EDIT: Found this more detailed explaining.

Eeva
she is a shy and gentle girl, who appeared out of nowhere in a blank space where her Universe is, she is a 20 year old girl, as innocent as a baby, loving and sweet.
When she walks she can leave a trail of flowers, however the flowers disappear after she steps somewhere else making a small 105cm trail of flowers, she can leave the permanent trail if she wants, due to her creative powers, she can create living and non-living beings and can give life to inanimate objects or sculptures, she creates living and non-living beings based on clay (inanimate sculptures), and by concentrating her energy at the base of her hand, she can create illusions with scribbles on sheets of paper where she blows them and a temporary being appears that can float or even do anything the creator wants (idea taken from the series Little Prince).
She spends a lot of energy and thirst (thirst: 50/50, hunger: 100/100) it will depend on the amount of object or the size of the being or object she is creating, if the thirst or hunger reaches 0 she may die of hunger or thirst.
She shines in her dark skin forms small bright stars, to light the way and when she is very happy her body can also fill with them.
She NEVER leaves the area where she was born.
She never opens her eyes, but if you get a chance, you'll see space and a beautiful nebula full of stars forming inside her eyes.

Papyrus!ModelingTale
Papyrus was killed by a frisk in some genocidal route of some of the Huniverses, and his bone dust was carried and carried into the universe of Eeva.
Eeva found the mound and wanted to play or do something with the powder, when she found her she ended up reviving Papyrus, when reliving his cut on the neck where he was attacked by Frisk became a dark scar, stunned he fell back scared wanting to know where he was , seeing the girl who was very similar to Frisk was afraid she would hurt him.
She didn't understand anything, he realized that she wasn't the Frisk that killed him, he gradually got to know her a little more and saw that she was as naive and innocent as a baby that will just be born, she didn't know anything about the show or of the human mute, neither the simple nor the basic she knew she had no name.
So she named it Eeva
He then devoted himself to teaching her, everything about humans and monsters, about human study (ie what things we learn every day in school math, science, biology, physics, physical education, chemistry, Portuguese, geography, arts and history), and the studies of the world show and other undertale universes.
He always wants to protect her, he's afraid she'll end up falling into the wrong hands, or prying eyes, or people who want to harm the girl or he wants to protect her and keep her a secret from every undertale universe and from all monsters and human. So no one hurts your best friend
She gave him a star tattoo, and said that every time he feels scared, insecure, sad, lonely, or weak he looks up at the stars and remembers he's not alone.
He sometimes goes out to buy food, water, craft items so she doesn't need to spend her energy creating something, buy and rent books, buy clothes and toys, but always with code names that are super hard to identify, he tries be very careful not to be discovered, also changing his clothes, but what he wears the most is an orange cap, leather blouse with lumas on the hood, an earthy orange blouse and wine pants.

Boing is Eeva's first creation, when she was learning about biology and about rabbits, she loved it so much that she ended up concentrating her energy and creating a , but not a normal rabbit, this rabbit is less measuring about 12 cm tall, the bunny loves to be close to his owner Eeva, and his guardian papyrus, he's smart and has his own conscience, he's quite smart, and he knows how much papyrus wants to protect Eeva and he helps him too
he doesn't like strangers
His powers boil down to opening rabbit holes the size desired by the rabbit, which disappear when he, someone or some object enters inside him, making him close, thus making the being, him or the object teleporting to wherever the rabbit wants (two that it's already gone there), to its universe, or hurling it back to the one who threw it (this goes for attacks as well), so it can keep people away from the ModelingTale universe. If you're lucky enough to be very sneaky you may have a 1% chance that the rabbit will walk you to the Modelingtale, but you will not be discovered or you can also try to enter his lair at the exact moment he enters it to be taken there, however you notice that the hole is only 12 centimeters in this case so good luck
He likes to eat: carrot stick

Note
For the ask game, perhaps Flowey/Asriel?
Please pretend I hadn't said all of this in your dms already and that any of this is a surprise and that you didn't help me come up with some of this. Mostly post-game because him being happy and getting better as a concept lives rent free in my head.
[ask game]
1. Headcanon A:  realistic
I spend a normal amount of time thinking how Being him even works, and I have to say, I have 20-30 different thoughts on the topic at any given moment. First of all while he could be sustained through sunlight and just being in the ground, I think he probably has a shitty metabolism and moving around while being a plant and shapeshifting probably takes a lot of energy so not to feel fatigued and sick all the time he has to actually eat stuff, to make up for all the calories he burns through. Though, even if he didn’t have to eat, he’d still do that because Food Tastes Good.
Gentle reminder that This Guy has stopped an Actual Elevator and kind of crushed it like a soda can using his vines, just so Frisk can’t go back and avoid the battle with Asgore. Without any souls on him too. He digs through solid rock and wood and metal and snow at multiple points in the underground just to stalk Frisk jfgsdfl. Basically he is a strong little guy, and doesn’t seem too bothered with hot or cold temperatures, at least for a short while? Not sure if this is just analysis or a headcanon. Either way this leads into the fact that while living on the surface he could very well just... Boar through wooden planks and bricks of a house, and while this isn’t something he would necessarily do, this is something he can physically do and bring up as a threat. Also I like to think he scuttles along the floor like an octopus when he’s indoors, because the imagery is funny. Honestly a lot of his movement in my head is inspired by octopuses because they too, have many limbs.
Another headcanon is one I talk about all the time, that being: He simply decided for himself that the way he feels is due to not having a soul. Think about it, there aren’t any really solid studies on the topic in the underground that we could find, a lot of them being “we suspect all humans are really weird and were bad to us because unlike monsters, they simply don’t have love and compassion and magic in their hearts <3” which is. Wow such unbiased science so true and real. It’s more likely to me that he’s severely mentally ill, and doesn’t know that, simply explaining his feelings away in the only way he figured he could. That, and he expresses emotions in the game ALL the time. Just... Negative ones, mostly. His monologue on his life after he was resurrected and not feeling anything at all really reminded me of my own experience with having severe depression after a traumatic experience in the past, so I’m not just making things up here dghsghg. I think he has PTSD and depression and just... Doesn’t Know. He lacks critical information.
2. Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
The first part of this is realistic, the second? I have no idea.
When he first moves with Frisk and Toriel, Frisk and him still really into the idea of literary just... Not telling anybody about his identity, they mostly fail miserably at concealing a lot of things like that fact that uh... He’s like 10 years old. Though his actual identity isn’t learned as soon, as him being a child is (I’d give it like 3 months to a year at best before the jig is up hsfgjdfg. Toriel would be probably quite torn between feeling mad and crying from happiness because... god??)
Toriel is mad and they start a whole web of lies of making shit up about his tragic backstory and why this random flower boy who is like 10 not with his parents.
Either way, Toriel gets him into her school, because obviously he has to learn things, despite his and Frisk’s protests because this is actually one of the worst ideas ever. This results in “The Knife Incident” maybe a week or a month later, and he is then on home-schooled. This is also when Toriel decides that maybe, maybe she should look into therapy for Mr. mystery flower child with no parents and emotional issues, not yet knowing the sheer extent of how right she is hdfgjfdg.
3. Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
This one’s a bit of a slow burner.
Obviously, it’s pretty much canon that he’s really into stars and lights and rainbows at this point. I like to think that after the ending of UT, when Frisk eventually persuades him to move in with them and Toriel, he gets a lot of various light sources as decorations in his room. Fairy lights around the window or the walls, glow in the dark stars on his walls and ceiling, night lights, maybe he even gets a star projector as a gift (and it’s one of the best gifts he ever got, not that he’d say that out loud!).
I think that while all of this obviously how he’d decorate his room considering the kind of person he is, this is much more... Over the top than his DR counterpart, because he gets antsy. He doesn’t want to be in the dark. It’s not the type of fear of dark where it feels like there’s something that can hurt you that you can’t see. He’s fine with dimly lit rooms and especially with outdoors as long as there’s something he can see. It’s just that... He really doesn’t want to be in pitch darkness, at least without Something he could see.
I think that once, he could have a bout of sleep paralysis while waking up from a nightmare in the middle of the night in his dark room. It’s like that time all over again. He can’t even say something, no matter how much he tries to, or move a limb. His throat tightens, he feels hot and cold all over, and it feels like he’s going crazy, until it passes. He doesn’t sleep well for a while, after that. This is when he decides to start decorating his room in that sort of way.
4. Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
I think that after canon, he should get into stuff like rainbow star god ocs, edgy trauma music, edgy rpg maker games, and online dragon pet games. It'd be good for him. Not for the wallet of his parents in case with online pet games, but good for him at least. He’s just that type of kid I think sdfghsdfg. I am an “Arcane Flight Fan” Asriel truther.
Also I like to think he could get into making music. This coupled with the fact that he can change his voice and mimic sounds could be really cool, as well as a good outlet of some sort for him.

Mafiaswap General Headcanons
I headcanon that Mafiaswap and Mafiafell are actually clones that were created by a Mafia Group. This Mafia group wanted to use the clones to defeat the Mafiatale Family, but instead they create the most friendly Mafia group, and the most dangerous Mafia group. The Mafiafell clones killed them.
This Mafia family is the friendliest Mafia Group that you'll ever meet.
While they are still a criminal Organization, and they do commit crimes.
They are the only Mafia Group that works very close together with the Police.
The Mafiaswap Family gives them information  about the other Mafia Groups, and the police close their eyes at their crimes.
This Mafia Family protects their protecting areas, even heavier than the Mafiatale Family. They are willing to give  a bodyguard to everyone who lives or works in those areas.
They are stealing from the rich, and give to the people in need. But they only steal from people that are greedy with their money. They steal their money and donate it for charitable foundations.
They also hack the charitable foundations to check if the donations get where they should go. If they do then they protect those foundations, and even donate themselves. But if they don´t, then they steal the money, and make sure that it does arrive where it should arrive. And they also make sure that the public knows that.
They do deal with Monster food, medicine, chemicals, and Monster drugs, but only weed, and only to those that really need them because of their medical conditions. ( Monster drugs, alcohol and Cigarettes work different than human drugs does. They are less harmful for their health.) But they do not deal with weapons or ammo since they do not really need them. No one in the family uses guns, most of them either use magic or knives.
While they are very friendly, and do not like violence at all. Do not underestimate them if you hurt their family members you are going down. But it is rare for them to use violence usually their only threaten (or warn) someone. Killing or hurting others is their last option.
Lady Toriel is the boss of this Family. She and Asogre are not divorced here. They live happily together with their four children. (Asriel, Frisk, Chara and Monster Kid). While Lady Toriel is a very gentle and kind soul, she takes her job very serious, and she is very stern if someone is unnecessarily violent. She is also very hardworking, and she often overworks herself. Since she is so busy she often doesn´t have time to hang out with her family or friends, but once in a while she gives herself a few free days when she takes her time to hang out with her family, her friends and to bake a Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie. Usually she wears a black dress, she only wears her black, white suit at formal meetings with other Mafia Gangs/Families.
Asgore loves gardening he grows flowers, vegetables, herbs and weed...but he doesn´t smoke. He also helps Toriel with her paperwork and finances, so that she doesn´t overwork herself. Besides that he mostly takes care of his garden and the house. He hangs out with their children, he cooks, he cleans the house (sometimes together with one of his kids). His cooking is not as good as Toriels, but it is still good. But his tea, and his coffee are fantastic. He often brings Toriel lunch when she´s really busy. He is a great dad and husband.
Asriel is a real gentleman...gentlegoat...gentlemangoat. He is charming, friendly and very sweet. He is this kind of person that is too late for school or work, but he would still help an old grandma to cross the street or save a kitten from the tree. Every time he brings food, clothes, medicine and so on to the Orphanage, retirement home, hospitals and so on (together with either his siblings or Papyrus), every single time people are happy to see him. Especially the old people like him. He also helps his dad a lot.
Chara prefers to work in the back scene. They are helping with the food, and since they love drawing themselves they buy and donate pens, paper and so on. They are the one that help their dad the most, they help him with the garden (sometimes they steal some weed), cooking and cleaning the house. Sometimes they go together with Frisk or Papyrus to pick some supplies from Muffet or Grillby.
Frisk on the other is also more or less at the front line when it comes to help people. They are also the one that goes to a meeting together with Toriel. They are very diplomatic, and very strong with words. Since they are also slightly intimidating they often threaten people when it is needed. Also, they and MK are the ones that love training with Alphys. They also quicker to use violence than the others...especially if someone talks dirt about her adoptive family or her friends they do not hesitate to use violence, which is why they are not allowed to go anywhere alone. It is not because the family is worried about them, the family is actually more worried about the other Mafia families or other thugs. While they are very friendly they are also very protective of the people they love and care about. And they are very stoic which does makes a lot of people feel uneasy. They are also one of the reason why the other Mafia Groups are actually afraid of them, otherwise there would be probably a lot more random fights/wars between them and the other Mafias.
MK (Monster Kid) is the youngest of them all. They are still a teenager and haven´t finished school yet. Toriel usually does not allow them to help the family in any way, but recently she let them go together with Asriel and Frisk. They are trying their best at school, and they actually want to go study chemistry or science because they are a big fan of Undyne.  Besides that they also enjoy training with Alphys, and playing with the kids at the Orphanage.
Undyne is the scientist, and she makes the medicine and the chemicals. She also works together with Napstaton, they are the hackers that to a lot of work. Undyne loves her job, and she works a lot. She still takes a few breaks to watch Anime.
Alphys works together with Papyrus, Napstaton, Sans and sometimes Asriel and/or Grillby joins them as bodyguards and the fighters. Technically they are more of the squad that intimidates other thugs. But they are also the ones that are protecting the ones that are getting threaten by other Mafia groups. But Alphys herself also trains new recruits (And Frisk and MK too). She also is often the that has to keep an eye on Frisk, and the one that protects Lady Toriel (and Frisk) at the meetings. She is very observant, and has quick reflexes. But she is also surprisingly kind, and she sometimes also helps Asriel to bring stuff to orphanages, the kids also love her. Although she is more of an Animal magnet.
Napstaton helps Undyne with the hacking jobs, is a bodyguard, a fighter, and he intimidates thugs. He does a lot of work, but he enjoys it. He also loves music, and makes his own. His music is very loved, and he also sells them. He has his own clubs where he plays his music, and sells it. He also organizes a lot of events like parties. Napstaton lives together with Mettablook.
Mettablook is a singer, and he sings at every club that belongs to Napstaton (and him). But he also collects information it is much easier for him being a ghost and a celebrity at once.
Sans is the one that works together with the police. He is their working partner. He and his brother are the robbers, but they are very wholesome robbers. When they steal from the rich they only steal money, maybe some earrings or necklaces. It often depends on the person that they steal from, and how greedy this person is. Sans is very fast and not only in a fight.
Papyrus is very hardworking. He basically double-checks any information that they get from Mettablook, Napstaton and Undyne. Sometimes he doesn´t sleep for a few days. He and Sans also have to pick up a lot of things from Grillby and Muffet. He is also somewhat of a babysitter for the kids. Sometimes he makes sure that MK arrives safely at their school and back home, he often works together with Asriel and sometimes Frisk, and if he also is Chara bodyguard.
Gaster is not a scientist here. He is a driver (he basically switches with River person). But he is a damn good driver. Every time they either have to flew from their enemies or the police he is the strongest. He is more of an engineer and car mechanics. And the best thing is that he actually has the time now to hang out with his sons more.
Grillby and Muffet don´t really change much. Grillby does join them in a fight, and he goes on a few jobs with Sans and Papyrus. And Muffet does not poison people.
And also the clothes change a bit more. I´d say that this family is way more casual they usually only wear their beautiful black, white suits at formal meetings.

How CowTale Came to Be
or How to Give Sans An Existential Crisis
(important-ish to note, Sans remembers resets in this. also this is hella long)
So as most of these stories go, it all starts when Frisk falls into the Underground. Everything proceeds as normal. Flowey is a jerk, Toriel is GoatMom™. Alphys loves anime. Mettaton wants to be a star. Sans is a hoodie and slipper wearing skeleton. Neutral runs happen. Chara asserts themselves and genocides happen. Frisk fights back and pacifist runs happen. Every time they make it past the barrier, Frisk resets before they can make it down the mountain.
Then things get... weird. Things go way off script. For the most part it seems normal, except some weird changes in dialogue. But then as the end grows closer, things change drastically. Chara and Asriel are... resurrected? They have their own bodies now, formed around their souls that came from somewhere. No one really understands where the souls came from or how the bodies formed. It just kinda, happened. Flowey becomes his own entity, carries pieces of Asriel, but is his own being. He doesn’t seem to have a soul, yet it kinda seems like he could? Another thing that makes no sense, and is a point of concern for Sans and Frisk. Its all so strange and wrong, but everyone seems happy about so what can or should they do but carry on? In one final pacifist run, the barrier is broken and they leave the mountain. But the world isn’t how Frisk remembers. Everything is so... old. Like a western from afternoon television. Frisk explains this to Sans, they’re scared and they don’t know what happened. After some back and forth, they agree that Frisk should do one more reset. See if maybe this was all a strange fluke.
It wasn’t. Everything happens again. Strange and off, and they emerge to the same strange off world. Frisk is the only one who really understands what they’re missing, and Sans understands things are off, but has no first hand experience. But the things they had in the Undergound don’t fit here. This seems more like what they had decades ago. So they go to Asgore and Toriel together and try to explain as best they can. They leave out the resets, or that their children should still be dead. But they tell them something in the process of saving everyone and breaking the barrier time went weird. They seem to have come out about 150 years back from when Frisk went in. Frisk studied this time in school, the Old West, so they aren’t completely clueless, but this is definitely not their time. It’s decided to tell everyone that the world isn’t what they expected but they’re going to do their best to make it work regardless. Monster kind is strangely accepting of the things missing, generally chalking it up to magic science weirdness and moving on.
So they settle. They build themselves a home around the mountain. Some choose to stay within it. Content now that they can come and go as they please. The first few humans they meet are not exactly kind, but not immediately hostile at least. The king and queen (separated still, but cooperating with one another for the good of monster kind) meet the local government. At first it seems like things will go bad, but then talk of gold happens. And the tone shifts. Monsters have gold? And a lot of it? Suddenly they’re talking to the nations government rather than just the local. And lines are set. The mountain and surrounding areas belong to the monsters. They’re welcome to venture out into the rest of the world, so long as the know that by doing so they take their lives into their own hands. You won’t be hunted by the government, and they’ll receive the same basic rights, but there will be no special protections. No one looking out for them. This is accepted as the best they’ll get. Things settle and it seems like life will be ok.
Then things get weird again. The core goes strange, and so does the machine in the basement. Readings become next to impossible to make sense of and power fluctuates wildly. And suddenly, there’s more of them. More monsters. Sort of? The same monsters? Just different. Again, something that shouldn’t be and makes no sense. Over the course of a year or so, they’d just occasionally pop up. No rhyme or reason. Base world Asgore and Toriel are called in to help sort out the mess, as alternate versions of everyone they knew start appearing. It isn’t consistent. One group might bring their human child, while another doesn’t. That bunch has a Grillby but no Muffet or vice versa. More royals? Why not, but apparently not all of them. The only ones who seem to come through every time are a given worlds Sans and Papyrus. Without fail, the skeletons show. The “base” versions of each monster was put in charge of “themselves”. Getting the assorted royals to work together took some time, but somehow they managed. Some monsters had an easier go of it then others, but being free and on the surface seemed to smooth a lot of ruffled feathers. It worked out. Sort of, and strangely. But it was working.
Sans feels like he’s losing his mind. There’s at least a dozen versions of him and his brother. The world is all wrong. Nothing makes sense. This isn’t even how that machine was supposed to work, right? He can’t be sure of anything anymore. All he knows is he has too damn many copies of himself to wrangle.
And then the weird ones show up. Dream isn’t too bad. The less said about Fresh the better. He’s grateful to have only passingly run into Error. “Enjoying the shit show” apparently, whatever that meant. He knows Nightmare was around at one point, but never actually came face to face with him. And then there was Ink.
Ink wasn’t so bad as a person, he supposed. A bit off, but tolerable. Yet another nuisance that could come and go as he pleased apparently. But he seemed like he meant no harm. When asked he just said “Checking on the creator’s work.” That one sentence was all it took to send a chill down Sans’ spine. When pushed Ink explained. They hadn’t ever really left their own verse, technically. It wasn’t some strange reset-caused time warp. They’d been copied over. Original Sans and the Original Underground all still existed in their original world. They were all just copies. Same for everyone else. Their own worlds went on just the same, with them still in them. Carrying on as they were meant to. Everyone here had just been, copy/pasted over, barring of course himself and the others who existed outside the worlds. Tossed into a world together and then “flavored”. Flavored “Old Wild West” apparently. Because they weren’t interesting enough on their own?
Why? And how? And what was the point?
As for how, well the multiverse theory always stated, an infinite number of possibilities. Why not this one?
But why?
Bullshit wish fulfillment.
That was why. That was the point.
“Such is the whim of the creator.”
It would take a long damn time for Sans to come to terms with this. He eventually broke and confided in his brother. Papyrus being Papyrus told Sans it didn’t matter. So what if they weren’t real to someone else. They were real to themselves. They were real to each other. This was there life. And could they know if anyone ever really had control. Any version of any person in any world. How can you ever be entirely certain your life is your own to live? Your choices your own to make? You just have to accept that you can’t know, and then choose to live anyway. Keep moving forward. Keep living your life. Because if you just quit, if you just give up, then you’ve truly lost yourself. Don’t worry about it. Just live.
So there you have it. The messy story of how one meddlesome creator wanted to make a world suited to their taste, and didn’t much care how or what the implications might mean. What does it matter? None of its real anyway right?

Prompt #7: Valentine
@fransweek
This took a lot longer than I thought it would, as testament to just how long it is. But for Valentine's Day I thought a first date worked. As such I am putting the whole thing under a keep reading tag because it’s incredibly long.
Anyway Without Further Ado: Prompt #7: Valentine
A Gift of Love
The year after Frisk got her new family and friends free was when she started to make Valentine's for them all.  A certain skeleton noticed though as the kiddo got older, the valentine's he got from her got bigger including candy or fancy bottles of ketchup.  It confused Sans to no end, she was just a kid compared to him easily.
That changed 4 years ago when Frisk had gone off to college to study political science so she could be a better Ambassador.  He still received a Valentine every year but seeing the girl herself was rare except at Christmas and sometimes during the summer.  When he did he noticed she was growing older and he was oddly attracted.
That attraction just built as he got to know her again when she came home for good at Christmas.  She was intelligent, beautiful, kind, and punny as hell. He just hoped he wasn't to late, he had to surprise her and pull out something amazing for that night.  Time to break that lazy outward appearance he worked so hard to maintain for once.
That morning he found a ceramic coffee mug with blackboard paint around the bottom sitting on his desk. It was covered with little doodles but written on the side facing his chair was I Lava You – Frisk.  And filled with peppermint mocha, which the girl knew was his favorite. He couldn't help the small blue blush that grew on his face even as the students entered his Science Classroom.  He heard all the students going on and on about their Valentine plans all day.  All while he was just hoping Frisk found the star shaped sticky notes he had shortcutted into her office to place the night before.  Ones that said to meet him at the park that night and she received the fruit basket that had fruit based puns like I go Bananas for You, Your the Apple of my Eye, and Orange you go out with me throughout it.
He was glad as the day finally round down, and was happy to hear his phone going off with Frisk's caller id.  He picked up the phone saying, “Howdy, kiddo.  Thanks for the coffee this morning.” Fixed the bag hanging off his shoulder as he headed from the school building, nodding to his students as he went.
“Your welcome, Sansy,” Frisk said with a happy voice through the phone to him, “So I found a few star shaped sticky notes around my office today and got a fruit basket with a note that had a lot of puns from you.  It was sweet Sans, I didn't think you liked me back.”
“Yeah well if you meet me at the park, you'll see kiddo,” Sans said with a chuckle even though he was in a panic hoping Legs came through with the reservations for the private room at the restaurant in his new hotel.
“Why am I worried?”
“I don't know, don't trust me Frisky?”
“I do, but you are known for pranks Sansy.”
“This isn't a prank, I honestly want to give this a try,” Sans said as he took a step shortcutting to the park by her work.  He hung up as he saw her with a smile saying, “Heya kiddo.”  He slipped the phone in his jacket, it dropping into his inventory, then waved to the brown haired, tanned skin ambassador.
“Hi Sans,” Frisk said with a smile glad she was just in jeans and a sweater, “So what's this big plan of yours?”
“Well I figured I would pick you up around 6 and take you out to dinner, to a semi-formal establishment,” Sans said with a grin up to her as he pulled off his glasses slowly.
“Really? Not just Grillby's?” Frisk asked in surprise because 9 times out of 10 that is where they normally got together at before she went to college and since she got back.  The rare other time would just be at the local fast food place Met had, Burgerpants always ran.
Sans slipped his hands into his pockets with a grin saying, “Nope I have something better in mind, considering first real date and all Frisky.”  He was glad this was going so well, but he knew he had to go home and get dressed in the dress shirt and slacks that Pap helped him pick out.  The tie was a clip on at least.
He was also happy that Fish, Tori, and Al was going to help Frisk get ready since he knew well she wasn't one for dresses.
“Alright than, I'll expect you at 6 I suppose,” Frisk said with a soft blush to her cheeks.  She came over quickly and gently kissed his cheek. His magic sparking against where her lips met.   It felt nice he had to admit, and he would enjoy feeling that more.
“Yep, let me take you home at least,” Sans said offering a hand to her as he did every night now since she came back.  He would escort her home because it was for safety what he said to her.  Actually it was more just wanting more time with her.
“I guess you do have a shortcut,” Frisk said with a grin taking his hand and feeling him pulling her through to in front of the house she lived with Toriel in.
Sans slowly let go and grinned at her saying, “See you at 6.”  He made sure she got inside and heard the voices inside with a grin.  He then shortcutted back home that he lived in alone.  Ever since Pap got with Legs and moved in with the robot, he just felt the place was empty anymore.
It would be nice if this worked out with Frisk, even if it was just to give him company in the evening.  He sighed as he  headed up the stairs to his room going inside to change.  It would be a good night, he was really wanting it to be.
He slipped off the black hoodie he wore with the grey sweater and slacks at work.  The black slacks, blue dress shirt, and black tie that had a faded periodic symbol for Titanium on it laying out on his bed. Pap insisted he wear that tie since it was his only non-pun tie, but the thing was that was the pun it was his tie-tanium tie.  He was glad it was clip-on like the rest.
He grabbed the slacks and slid them on, using a bit of magic to fill them out and make them look normal on his bones.  He then slid the dress shirt on and carefully did the buttons up.  He clipped the tie on his collar then slid the silver cuff-links on, grinning at the small police box on each one.  Dr. Who was a great show that he got into when they got to the surface, among other nerdy things that introduced him to humans that he could stand.
He glanced to the time glad it was almost 6, he would just call the restaurant and make sure the reservations went through.  Because if they hadn't, it would either require a call to Mettaton which was easy to get a hold of due to that relationship with Pap he had, or planning something else.  Once he confirmed it was a go, he grabbed onto a shortcut to in front of Frisk's house and knocked on the door. Just before the door opens he remembers the vase of Echo Flowers he had sitting in his inventory.  He quickly pulls them out as the former queen opened the door.
“Hey Tori.”
“Hi Sans, come on in.  Frisk is still getting ready upstairs with Undyne and Alphys.  She was so excited when she came home,” Toriel said with a soft laugh moving out of the way to let the skeleton in. “Though I trust you Sans, I'm sure you will take care of my child.”
“Of course I will Tori, I’ve protected her for years after all.”
“I meant her heart as well, she has been wanting this for years after all.  Even all the time she was gone to college, she still held on hope you would one day give her a chance.”
His response was caught behind his teeth as Frisk appeared at top of the stairs.  He let out a breath at her tanned body in the deep purple knee length purple dress. Her brown hair long down her back, the first time he had ever noticed the blue streak down the side. It was always normally up in a ponytail or bun. Never in a position to see the streak, the same color as his magic. He grinned as he came over saying, “Your gorgeous Sweetheart.”
The blush that went over her cheeks and nose was adorable. “You don't clean up bad yourself, Sans.  Very handsome.”
“Thanks, so shall we go?” An offer of his hand to her.  He glanced to Toriel saying, “See you later Tori.”
When he felt Frisk's soft hand in his own, his eye a lit with magic as they appeared in Mettaton’s massive hotel outside of town.  He heard her gasp at where they were.
“Sans, are we going to the restaurant here? It is so expensive though.”
“You are worth way more than that.  But I have both the family discount and because it's for you in my favor.”
“So you are taking advantage of your brother’s relationship status?”
“Maybe,” He grinned as they walked to the elevator to go to the roof. He just hoped it would keep impressing her. He was trying so hard.
Frisk gently hugged Sans saying, “Hey stop panicking. It's just us and I like you for you.  Not like it's the first time we went to dinner together.”
“I know but I just want to treat you like the star you are.” Pun on what the restaurant was, maybe.
“Sans. I am sure it will be great whatever you planned.”
Sans shot her a grateful look as the elevator opened on the roof garden that had a large glass dome over it.  He watched her face light up to the magic lights floating around, the rose bushes littering the garden, the single table in the middle with the a single red candle in the center.  Their waiter pouring water into the glasses.
Wait.
That shape was very familiar and his hunch was confirmed as his brother turned to face them with a very fake mustache on his lips. “Pap…” Sans muttered as his skull met his hand.
He heard Frisk giggling beside him and he caught the snort.  He glanced over to his date and ok, so his brother was acting as waiter. This was fine. At least he wasn't making spaghetti for them, right?
He glanced ahead hearing his brother exclaimed in a bad french accent, “BONJOUR, I AM YOUR WAITER FERNANDO.”
“And who gave you the name Fernando?” Frisk asked between giggles.
“METTATON.”
Sans shook in silent laughter because his brother was ridiculous. It did help relieve his nerves at least. He guided his giggling date to the table saying, “I think I mustache you a question about all this later Fernando.”
He grinned at his brother’s eye socket twitching to the pun. And the launch of another giggle attack Frisk was having. At least he could make her laugh so one win. He pulled out her chair with just a bit of Magic before sitting down himself.
“WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK TODAY?” Papyrus asked after calming down from the pun.  He looked at Sans like he was daring him to say ketchup, but he's been good about breaking his addiction to the stuff.
Sans grinned before saying, “A bloody Mary and a glass of water.”
“Echo Flower Tea.” Frisk looked over the menu.
“RIGHT AWAY.” Papyrus went to get the drinks even though he glared at his brother for getting alcohol.
“It's sweet that Papy wants your date to go well,” Frisk said with a smiled over to Sans as she grabbed a breadstick that was complimentary.
“Yeah well he was so happy when I told him I was going to ask you out, he knows I've wanted to since before you came home even,” Sans said as he looked over the menu.  He paused though as his cheeks turn blue to that admittance.
“R-really? I never thought you would like me like that,” her tan skin turning pink in a blush as she looked down, “I have liked you for so long.”
“I figured but when you were a kid it was different Frisk.  You really matured those 4 years of college and just talking to you when you came back for Christmas and Summer or on skype really sent that home. I started to become attracted to you too,” Sans muttered as it was really feeling hot in here.  This was way to soon in the date to start to have this conversation.
Frisk smiled as she reached over taking his hand in hers saying, “Well hopefully we can have more dates beyond this where Papy isn't spying on us.”  She motioned over to where Papyrus was just peaking around the door to the kitchen while someone else made their drinks.
Sans glanced over and sighed before chuckling softly as he squeezed her hand.  He looked to the menu saying, “I think I'm going to get one of the samplers.”
Frisk just smiled to his change of topic before looking to the menu saying, “I'm leaning to the shrimp alfredo.”  Because that sounded amazing with bread sticks.  “So how's teaching going?”
“It hurts me deeply at seeing most of the the kids get.”
“I have a feeling anything below an A would hurt you deeply.”
“You are right, but when I can get those who have a B or lower to understand everything and want to try.  It's the most rewarding feeling I can get.  Plus them groaning to my puns is always fun.”
“Of course it is for you, Mr. Gaster.”
“It's Dr. Gaster,” Sans said with a chuckle as Papyrus headed back over to the table with their drinks.  Sans took his Bloody Mary and sipped it with a grin at the look on his brother's face under that silly mustache.
“HAVE YOU BOTH DECIDED WHAT YOU WANT TO ORDER?”  Papyrus said as he sat the cup of tea in front of Frisk.  The faint whispers from the echo flowers that were used in it could be heard.
“Yeah, a shrimp alfredo for my date and the sampler for me,” Sans said as they both offered their menu back.
“GOT IT,” Papyrus said writing those down before taking the menus and walking away to give it to the kitchen.
Sans grinned before looking to Frisk asking, “Want to admire the sunset with me while we wait?”  He motioned to the garden and the dome that was over them that showed the setting sun.
“Sure,” Frisk said with a smile as she got up as did Sans going over to the edge of the area sitting down on the side of the deck looking out of the glass dome into the sky.  She smiled over to Sans beside her slowly leaning into him.  To her this date was already a success. And had made her valentine's day.
Once they were done eating and were on their way home under the stars. Frisk paused asking, “Sans does this mean we are together?”
“I suppose so sweetheart, guess you have this bag of bones as your boyfriend now.”
The giggle that met his ears made him smile.  If he could hear that more than everything was great now.  Even as they approached her house.
“You really made this a great Valentine's Day, Sans.”
“Well I'm glad you agreed to come with me, Frisk.  You really made my day by doing that.”  He looked to her house before slowly leaning in to kiss her lips with his teeth.  The sparks of magic against her lips, he didn't know how this would feel for her but the soft moan from her was worth it.  Stupid need to breathe though as she pulled away.
“I better get inside before mom comes out,” she muttered softly.
“Sure, see you tomorrow for a movie night maybe?” Sans said with a smile and that just grew as she agreed.  He watched her inside and stuck his hands into the pockets of the slacks.  “Happy Valentine's Day,” he said after her before disappearing in a shortcut.

Anomaly Lore: Magic Part II
Tumblr media
Hey hey! It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a lore post! Here’s part two of all the fun magic technicalities (with a few updates in light of recent questions and events! <3) Jump below to learn how the different colors of magic work!
The different colors of magic govern different domains, or “schools”. Each school encompasses a certain set of characteristics such as that color's elemental aspect (ex: blue and water), or the most generally useful spells it produces (ex: yellow and ranged attacks). There is no hard limit on these aspects, especially since magical mixing can produce spells with a variety of functions, but there are certain broad, general traits that can help a student of magic define the different schools.
Basic magic can be split into the usual color spectrum of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, and Purple. There is also Void 'magic', which is not literal magic but a separate power entirely.
Note that having 'access' to a school means you have a natural aptitude for it, not that you're strictly limited to it. A Red user, for example, will still need to pull on Blue magic in order to create Purple magic; they theoretically could begin using Blue magic if given enough time to practice, but it'd be akin to trying to learn a new skill at the age of 85. Only Boss monsters and Sages live long enough to attempt cross-school mastery.
Blank Magic: “Blank” or raw magic is magic in its natural form. This is magic as pure energy fresh from the source, before it is absorbed by a magic-user and imbued with a color. Blank magic is limited in use and can only be used for utility spells, such as levitating tiny objects or forming weak ‘bullet’ attacks, although skilled casters can use it to teleport. Blank magic is what forms the majority of a monster’s body.
Red Magic: Red magic is most often described by monsters as  “force” magic. This is because Red spells are as much a force of nature as they are a force of will. Comparing it to “the Force” as humans know it is actually quite apt: like the Jedi (or Sith...), Red magic users can use this school to both create potent attacks or influence minds.
Red magic is fire-aspected, making it one of the more destructive schools when used in elemental form. This “fire” can be used to “cauterize wounds” as well, but unlike Green magic, it requires Determination to use, making it somewhat risky to heal monsters with. Only a very skilled Red user like Toriel would attempt to heal using Red magic, as overhealing could actually wind up causing more damage.
Because Determination is so strongly linked to Red magic, it is the only school more easily mastered by humans rather than monsters. While the magic half of Red magic dilutes the DT enough to make it safe for monsters to use, often only Boss monsters have strong enough wills to actually master it (although elemental creatures, such as Grillby or Pyropes, also find easy mastery courtesy of the fire aspect). Because of this difficulty, monsters who have access to the Red school (Orange and Purple users), often don't bother trying to learn it.
Strength of will is everything to the mastery of Red magic, which is part of what can make it so insidious. The other half of it – the “Jedi mind trick” half – revolves around the Red user imposing their wills upon others. With Frisk, this manifests as the Act menu; Frisk uses different words and actions to quickly influence the emotions of those she interacts with. While this is a normal component of any social interaction, these interactions usually take time and investment; Frisk accelerates the desired result by imposing her will behind the actions. Thus, much like how a Jedi mind trick can instantly convince someone that these aren't the droids they're looking for, an Act can instantly change someone from aggressive to peaceful. Naturally, Acts can easily be abused, and a Red user could, in theory, use this same power to manipulate others, which is in large part why the Sages are wary of actually talking to Frisk.
It should be noted that while Frisk does not actually have magic power, she does still have access to Acts courtesy of her Red soul. The energy fueling her power simply comes from a different source.
Red users can access the Orange and Purple schools. They cannot use Green magic.
Orange Magic: Orange magic is easily the most offensive of the magic schools, making it a favorite of the Royal Guard and any martially-oriented people. The Orange school by far has the largest range of direct attack spells, and has been found to create the most potent, swift, and reliable weapons. There are few frills attached to orange magic; like its users, it tends to be – quite literally – to the point.
Orange magic is earth-aspected, so often Orange users are paired with Green and Yellow users among monsters to help grow magical food (although their powers are well-suited to traditional gardening as well). They often accounted for the greatest engineers in the Underground, able to reshape entire caverns to suit the monsters' needs. In this respect Orange users are essentially Earthbenders, and even metal lies within their capability to manipulate, making them consummate blacksmiths and industrialists as well.
Orange users can access the Red and Yellow schools. They cannot use Blue or Cyan magic.
Yellow Magic: Magicians often consider Yellow as the “neutral” color – which might be fitting given its association with Justice. And indeed, mastery of Yellow magic often requires a calm, almost stoic demeanor, as getting zealous with it can swiftly send the user out of control. The Yellow school is often the most difficult for humans to master, because human emotions all too often turn a desire for justice into vengeance instead.
Unlike the other schools, Yellow magic has no elemental aspect. Instead, its aspect has been most often described as 'Spirit'. 'Spirit' is similar in power to the repertoire of spells used by rangers and druids in D&D: Yellow users are skilled at communicating with animals and plants, and in borrowing their power. Yellow magic can grow great forests or wither entire fields; if in trouble, a Yellow user can call entire packs of animals to their aid. Likewise, Yellow users can tap into the abilities of animals to enhance their own senses to inhuman levels. A Yellow user might be able to run at cheetah speed, see in infrared, echolocate, or read the magnetic poles.
Yellow magic is most effective for long-ranged or stealth attacks. When working offensively, Yellow users often attack swiftly or quietly from a distance, using hit-and-run tactics. Often enemies go down without ever knowing what hit them. The effective allure of this power can tend to make human Yellow users think they are invincible, and all too often students of the school can devolve into “cowboy mode” where they begin getting reckless. Monsters studying the Yellow school are more in danger of becoming too engrossed in the natural aspect, and losing themselves to their bestial side.
Yellow users can access the Orange and Green schools. They cannot use Purple magic.
Green Magic: The literal “breath of life”, Green magic is wind-aspected but also far and away the most potent source of healing available. Capable of full healing, regenerating, cleansing, and even reviving the fallen, Green magic has always been highly sought after by the medical community, and many humans view it almost miraculously. Healing via Green magic is instant, causes no pain, and leaves no scars; under the care of an especially gifted healer, someone may not even realize they've been injured in the first place.
The only limit on what healing magic is capable of is dependent on how long the Green user has been practicing it. The average Green user can probably only heal physical wounds, like cuts, bruises, and broken bones; Kale, having practiced for 1500 years of life, can regenerate limbs, organs, or even revive the recently dead. Kale's level of miraculous healing power takes over 1000 years to achieve for monsters and humans both, and healers of his caliber are insanely rare.
The irony of this power over life is that it is also the power behind Necromancy. Undead and Demonic monsters use Green magic on weak or soulless human bodies in order to raise the dead or, in the case of vampires, convert a human.
Green magic has very limited offensive capabilities, but often these come in the form of air-element attacks. A highly skilled Green magician can use the air aspect to power-jump or even achieve flight. By inverting this power, Green users can immobilize enemies and trap them in place, making them highly effective at crowd control.
Green users can access the Yellow, Blue, and Cyan schools. They cannot use Red magic.
Cyan Magic: If Red magic is the unstoppable force, Cyan magic is the immovable object. Cyan magic is easily the most defensive of the schools. Because most Cyan magic relies upon patience, waiting, or not moving, it's most commonly used in the form of shields, force fields, or barriers; indeed, Tai was the main architect of the Ebott barrier. While weaker Cyan spells can be pushed through, doing so still harms the person attempting it.
Because it is technically a derivative of Blue magic, Cyan magic retains its water aspect but in ice form. Thus, Cyan magic is often used offensively in the form of piercing weapons: spears, arrows, darts, etc. Because of this, Cyan magic is often a “death by a thousand cuts” sort of school; an individual hit won't hurt much, but those hits will stack up fast. Combined with their access to Purple spells, a Cyan user can whittle down opponents with very little effort on their own part.
Cyan users have access to the Blue, Purple, and Green schools. They cannot use Orange magic.
Blue Magic: Like all of the primary colors, Blue magic is a highly dangerous school. It is most infamous for its control of gravity, allowing the user to essentially “Force throw” something; the size of what can be picked up and moved depends upon how practiced the user is. At extremely high levels of mastery, Blue users can even wield gravity to warp time and space. Because this level of mastery is so rare, it hasn't been very well studied, and thus Blue users have a bad habit of inadvertently discovering the Void when they bend space a little too hard. The more experienced a Blue user is, the more eccentric they tend to become as they start to tread along the barrier of madness.
Blue magic is water-aspected and can command seas and rivers both. This allows a Blue user to not only create water attacks, but to also breathe and move freely underwater, or to walk over it. Blue magic is especially lethal to humans as it could theoretically be used for Bloodbending.
Interestingly, Blue users tend to be highly resistant to Acts, because Blue's association with Integrity allows it to hold strong against a Red user's will. This Integrity is likely the only thing preventing Blue masters from instantly going mad the moment they begin to dabble in the Void.
Blue users have access to the Cyan, Green, and Purple schools. They cannot use Orange magic.
Purple Magic: Considered the most “passive” of the schools, Purple magic is about manipulation and illusion. A classic spell is, perhaps, a favorite of Muffet's: creating the illusion that a person can only move along a set of lines. Nothing is actually stopping that person from moving freely (as that's the domain of the Blue and Green schools), but if they believe what they see, they are powerless to resist it. Such illusions can take many forms and grow increasingly complex and believable the more skilled the Purple user is.
Illusory power can create glamours and holograms for the purposes of disguising and deceiving, but Purple magic can be literally transformative as well. Shapeshifters such as lycanthropes and mimics get their power from Purple magic.
Purple magic is lightning-aspected and is best used offensively in the form of electric attacks, although its passive nature makes it just as useful for damage over time as well. Although this electric power could technically be used at the molecular level, however, neither Royal Scientist has spent much time studying it.
Purple users have access to the Blue, Cyan, and Red schools. They cannot use Yellow magic.
They are probably insanely OP.
Black Magic: Black magic does not occur naturally, nor can it be performed by a single person. Black magic only happens when two magic users weave a spell together from colors that do not mix. Black magic is universally harmful and is normally used in the form of curses and hexes, although it's been theorized to have created some of the world's worst diseases as well. It is a favorite of demons.
Because Black magic is unnatural, it can only be fought off with pure Determination.
White Magic: White magic also does not occur naturally, but is a result of all colors being used in harmony. This is typically only possible when a monster achieves a god state, granting it access to the seven human virtues. Because it is formed from all seven colors, White magic can pull any power from any given one of the individual schools.
The Ebott barrier was technically White magic as well, as it was created with power from all seven of the Sages and required White magic to be broken. Such a spell could have only been crafted by the Sages, as they are both human and monster and, by combining their power, function the same as one god-monster.
Void Magic: While the Void is full of a certain type of latent energy, it's not really magic in the literal sense. The Void is the opposite of our reality, however, so manifesting Void energy into our reality tends to disrupt things in a way similar to magic. Typically Void power is best used to break any and all laws of physics; this is the domain of non-Euclidean geometry and nonlinear timelines. More often than not, when something from the Void manifests in our world, it tends to just destroy whatever it touches outright because the two realities do not usually compute.
Void power disrupts a monster's form so much that it will destroy them on contact. Humans can withstand this enough to wield it, but it will eventually drive them mad instead. It is impossible for a non-Void being to have mastery over Void magic.

Ebott High A.K.A another high school AU
Cause there aren’t enough of those in the world amiright?
Welcome to Ebott High. The high school located in the infamous Mt. Ebott area, known for its haunting legends of monsters hidden deep within the caves of the mountain....
But then it turns out that the monsters were real, and then all hell breaks loose.
While the monsters try to find a place for themselves in the world, helped along by the King, Queen, and their eccentrically young ambassador, one of the first issues to come up is education. You need a degree to make it in the world of humans, so where shall they go?
That’s where your school comes in.
Yes, Ebott High is the first school to allow monsters to study alongside human students. A bold experiment.
Will you be able to learn from the new students? Develop friendships with them? Or, perhaps you’ll... fall in love?
(Basically this is an AU where everyone’s a high school student except for Toriel and Asgore, who are teachers, and Frisk, who’s in elementary school).
Uniforms(because obviously a high school au has to have uniforms right?)-
Spring: White short-sleeved button-down shirt with the school crest on the front pocket. Green plaid skirt for girls, pants for guys, if you’re non-binary you can wear whichever you want based on your mood.
Fall: Same as the spring uniform except with a dark blue cardigan with the school crest on the left breast.
Winter: White long-sleeved button-down shirt, dark blue blazer with the school crest on the left breast. Green plaid skirt for girls, pants for guys, if you’re non-binary you can wear whichever based on your mood.
School Crest-
Blue and Yellow, with an M in the top left corner, an E in the bottom right corner, a picture of a mountain in the top right and clouds in the bottom left.
The Monsters-
Toriel: The Home Economics Teacher. She’s known for listening to children’s problems, not only listening, but feeding you pie and other various baked goods to make the student in question feel better. It’s not long before she becomes the school therapist and is immediately everyone’s favorite teacher.
Asgore: The janitor. Everyone feels kinda sorry for him because of how he’s obviously still head over heels for Toriel. Everyone knows him, and they especially know that you should never get caught bullying other students in front of him.
Sans: Junior. That one kid who skips most of his classes and sleeps through the ones he does actually go to, but somehow manages to pull straight As. He’s on the Honor Roll because of his grades, but all of the other students on the Honor Roll fucking hate him.
Papyrus: Freshman. Joins every single club and student organization that he possibly can. On top of that, he started his own club called “The Puzzle Club” which is dedicated to you guessed it, puzzles. Although he didn’t start it himself, there’s also a club that formed when he started at Ebott High called the “Papyrus Protection Squad” or PPS for short.
Flowey: No one knows what grade he’s in. Nobody knows if he’s even a student, he just kinda, hangs around. No one likes him though. The only person that’ll talk to him is Frisk.
Frisk: 4th grade. They’ll pop in from time to time as part of their ambassador duties, but their usually at the Ebott Elementary School.
Undyne: Senior. She wanted to try out for all of the school’s sports teams, but apparently there was some kind of dumb rule against it, so she had to settle for just two. She’s Captain of the swimming and volleyball teams. Has a crush on Alphys.
Alphys: Sophomore. Vice-president of the Anime Club. She would be on the Honor Roll, if it weren’t for the fact that she was failing Social Studies(which isn’t fair! It’s about human history, not monster history! All of those names and dates that she’d never heard of before were hard to remember ok?!). Has a crush on Undyne.
Mettaton: Senior. The most popular guy in school obviously. A member of the Drama Club and auditions for every lead role in every school production.
Grillby: Senior. Volunteers to help out the cafeteria ladies. Is one of the few members of the Home Ec Club.
Burgerpants: Junior. Mettaton’s henchmen. Does his homework, fetches things for him, keeps track of his appointments. Basically a personal assistant, except he isn’t paid.
Bratty and Catty: Sophomores. They write the gossip article for the school paper.
Nice Cream Guy: Freshman. No one knows anything about him except that he really likes Nice Cream.
Feel free to start sending in asks for my high school au! :)

PTA Sans - The one with Azzy
So, Azzy it is now. There is a lot of mess to clean up, a lot of talks to be had and Sans is just... really tired.
AO3 Link
Warnings: Uhm... not that many, just some spoilers for the game and talking about the messed up stuff Flowey had done. Also it gets really emotional for Sans there, poor skeleton really needs a break.
I am very sorry it took me so long again to produce a new chapter but I moved countries, got a new job, had a lot of RL stuff going on AND had focused more on TBS with my co-author there. BUT this story is still dear to me so I will continue writing for it. January will be hell for me RL so I try and get some work done now. X.x
Anyway, have fun with this chapter and love all of you who were so patient with me. :D
Things after getting Azzy went... strange. Not bad, mind you but... strange.
The first thing Sans did when he got home was to fall down face-first and waking up much later in his and Toriel's bed. It was early morning when he woke and Toriel was laying with him in bed, her big fuzzy arms wrapped around his smaller form. Sans snuggled a bit more to her, chuckling only slightly when her fur got between his rips, and tried to form a mental check-list.
After the newly named Azzy had gotten used to having limbs again and worked through his minor identity crisis rather quickly they had decided that it would be best if he stayed at Asgore's for now. Sans was sure that Grillby would have volunteered to house the little monster again (bless the soul and core of this monster and Sans knew he and his two partners could never refuse small children) but on the other hand...
Yeah he still felt bad for ranting at Asgore and saying some stuff that was rather unfair to the king, even if he had made mistakes. It really hadn't been the time and place. Besides, it would be good for Azzy to stay with Asgore and re-bound a bit with him. Things would be awkward first but even after all this time, Azzy was just a little kid and Asgore was his dad on more than one level. They could both work on their past and what had happened on their pace. It would probably do them a lot of good too, not just mental-wise. Boss-monster needed the nurture of their parent's love and even with Azzy being a brand-new soul (and probably a plant elemental now come to think about it) Sans really wants to play this safe.
The rest of them could deal with the rest of this mess.
They had talked about how and when to tell Toriel. They should after all. As soon as possible. Sans really didn't look forward to this but the longer they put it off, the more it would get messy and ugly. But they decided that they should do it together and maybe leave out some of the details Azzy did as Flowey... welp, now he had to find a way to explain to her that Asriel really was gone, that Azzy was like... what did the humans call it... reincarnation? Welp, no, that wasn't it either, it worked completely different... Humans believed that it was still the same soul.
Asriels soul had been green. Azzy's soul was purple.
Instead of losing all his memories with the same soul, Azzy was all of Asriels (and Flowey's) memories but with a new soul. A soul made of Asgore's love for his son, Frisk's compassion to safe him and magic of the machine, bound together by just a tiny drop of determination and a whole lot of other magical stuff Sans had to do to make the machine work again.
The same machine that gave birth to him and Papyrus and that made Gaster go... away. What killed their father thou was a whole different story... it seems that Determination was very very dangerous, even more so seeing how Alphy's experiments turned out.
Stars he should just stop thinking about that.
Point was, Azzy was his own monster, not Asriel, not Flowey but something new. And they had to tell Toriel.
This was going to be hard.
After... THAT was out of the way they had to think long-term. Where should Azzy stay for good, would they enroll him in school to or home teach him, what will become out of the little monster now... Frisk would want him joining school, they loved that little flower boy.
Sans kinda wanted to go back to sleep again. Maybe apologize to everybody involved a few times too.
He kinda missed the days where he just dunked Linda. Maybe he should do that again. She kinda got better these last week but still...
So mental checklist.
Tell Toriel, tell all the others, figure out if Azzy was fit for school... maybe get more sleep. Also he really should sit down with Azzy at one point too. He had talked with Flowey before their little deal was struck but Sans still had some things to hash out with him.
Also, something else had to be done was quick as possible: Destroy the machine. It did its part and Sans would rather not have the reminder of so much pain in the past standing around anywhere. Not to mention all the illegal crap he had to do to get some parts of it and how dangerous it could be if the wrong persons got it.
So... Tell Toriel, destroy the machine, everything else next. Sounds good.
Toriel let out a soft snore, nuzzling at the base of his skull and Sans felt himself flush with magic. Well... maybe he could rest just a little bit longer... Just a little bit.
Azzy in the meantime was... adjusting. It was strange feeling again, it was strange WALKING again. Well, walking in his own body, not one he stole. Yeah that... that was really bad what he did there... Wow he was a jerk. To a lot of people.
Especially Sans thou. Azzy could understand his reasoning at the time. Sans was the only one who remembered some of what was happening and was so interesting to watch react different every time. But wow he did screwed that poor guy up for no reason at all. Sans really wasn't a part of anything, only having a connection to the guy who worked out the foundation for what Alphys did to do the things that resulted in Flowey and yeah, there was no way to justify any of the stuff he did.
He... he really should apologize one day. Especially after he gave him a shot at, you know, caring again.
He wondered a bit why Sans did this for him. It could just be to make sure he wouldn't cause any trouble anymore or make Frisk happy... so they wouldn't reset anymore. But on the other hand, Sans had done stuff he didn't had to do get to this point. Like the time Azzy had spend with the flames was rather nice all things considered. The yellow one had even watered him and Azzy knew that flames usually stayed away from any kinds of water.
Maybe he should ask Asgore... dad... (uh, that was complicated still) to go with him to Grillby's at some point in the future. He really should thank them...
Anyway, Azzy was... kinda content now? He was laying in a bed Asgore made for him. It was really just a nest of blankets on the couch but Azzy was kinda small still, standing on his hind legs at maybe Frisk's height. He still kinda preferred walking on all four of his pawns but he should maybe practice walking on two legs these next days. He really wanted to have his arms free to do stuff with them. Would make some things a lot easier anyway.
Otherwise he was okay with himself. His body felt like a mix between his old one and the flower one but better. His magic shifted, his soul was different and he might have to relearn everything about magic he knew before but it was alright.
He was a bit upset that his ability to use healing magic was now gone for good.
All Boss monster could do a little bit healing magic and Asriel, with his green soul, had the potential to do greater healing magic. He never got very far in his studies of such of course but it was enough to save Chara that faithful day when they fell into the Underground.
Wherever they were now, Azzy really hoped they were alright. Looking back the plan really was terrible and Chara really wasn't the nicest person... but Chara also was just a child and hurting a lot and there was no doubt they had loved Asriel and all the monster.
But LOVE and hate were terrible things for a soul and Azzy knew first hand how it could corrupt you. Thanks to the new soul his LV was back to 1, a clean slate but he still remembered how it felt. He shuttered.
… maybe that was a reason more to talk to the flames... Grillby was a known war-veteran and Azzy had felt his LOVE while staying with him. He was rather baffled how he could even LIVE with all of that. Maybe there was some kind of secret as how it would not corrupt a monster?
“Azzy? Son, are you alright?”
Asgore's voice pulled Azzy out of his thoughts. He turned and saw the old king in a fluffy pajama and night cap with little ducks on it, a worried expression on his face.
“Yeah, uhm... dad.”, said Azzy. “Just... couldn't sleep.”
“Ah... I know just the thing for that... I'll make you some tea that will calm you right down...”
“No golden Flower tea please!”
Asgore halted at the request, a painful expression on his face and Azzy almost regretted his request. “It just... got a lot of bad memories.”, he mumbled.
“... would a peppermint tea with honey be good?”
“Yeah... yeah that would be alright.”, mumbled Azzy as his father walked away to make tea.
Yeah he hadn't missed THAT so much, feeling bad about stuff like this. But on the other hand he took it any day over not feeling at all. Still, it was strange and awkward and not at all like he remembered being Asriel. He was sure his father felt the same.
Asgore returned with two mugs full of fresh smelling tea later, adding a drop of honey into Azzy's cup just before giving it over to him.
Azzy took a sip and smiled slightly as he felt the tea warming up his body and soul.
“Thanks... dad.”, he mumbled. “... I can call you dad, right?”
“Of course, my...”, Asgore hesitated and Azzy waved with one hand.
“It's alright, you can call me son or... stuff like that. Just don't call me Asriel.”
“Alright, Son.”, Asgore answered with a nod but Azzy did saw the slight hurt in his eyes. “I am sorry, I am just... getting used to this.”
“Yeah I... I don't blame you.”, mumbled Azzy. “This... this is all new. I had months to prepare for it but honestly, I barely thought about it because I thought it was impossible.”
“Well... Sans had proven to manage impossible things quite well.”, said Asgore lightly. “But... I understand your hesitation.” He put his tea down, voice dropping his usual lightness. “I couldn't believe it quite for myself when he told me about... about what he had done.” He sighted deeply and for a moment Azzy thought that his father really did look as old as at least 1500 years.
“I made a lot of mistakes, my son.”, Asgore said softly. “I guess I didn't want to face a lot of them... So I choose to be a coward and look away but just because you don't look at it doesn't mean it's gone.”
“Uh... it's alright.”, mumbled Azzy. “You know, I did a lot of... really bad things to. I could say I only did it because I had no soul and couldn't care but... still...”
A big pawn stilled him and Azzy looked to Asgore who moved in for a gentle hug.
“Hush my son.”, he said softly. “I can't remember what you did and all is well now. I have nothing you need forgiveness for. There are people you have to make amends with but it is not me. And I am here for you. And I love you.”
Azzy sniffled softly at that, tears he hadn't shed for so long finally coming to his eyes. He hugged back his father and cried in his fur, feeling so much and loving and hating it but also somehow feeling it would be okay.
Well, looks like he was still a crybaby but all in all, it was what he was. Even so he thought that Chara would have let this one slide just this once.
Time kinda... ran away from that point. They sat together the next day, Toriel, Asgore, Sans and Papyrus, Frisk and Azzy together with Alphys and Undyne. Sans had kinda wanted Grillby to be there too but he had declined, saying softly that he understood that he wasn't really part of this but ready to offer any help should it be needed.
Sans was so glad to have a friend like this.
The explanation went on long and it hurt a LOT seeing Toriel looked betrayed and hurt and horrified and angry and sad. But they had to do this and in a way it felt freeing too to just talk. They explained as good as they could what happened. Asriel's and Chara's plan, what had happened that day when they died. Gaster's and Alphy's experiments and the creation of Flowey. They all knew already about the resets but Azzy filled in some thing he did while being Flowey, but he left out  a lot of details. Sans was kinda thankful for that to be honest.
After that their talk turned to Frisk's determination and how they saved not only all the monster but for a brief moment Asriel too so he could finally let go. Sans took over and explained his fears and his plan to give Flowey a happy ending too. How he took him from the Underground, how Grillby took care of him and how he started working on the machine together with Alphys.  He did left out how he stole many parts for it thou, no point in worrying anybody. (also it would be better if nobody knew anything in case somebody did came knocking at the doors.)
Alphys and Asgore explained how they made Flowey a new soul. And Azzy explained how he wasn't Asriel still, not really. That he was dead and gone but went without regrets and that he was ready to start a new life.
There were some tears and hugs and apologies but in the end it was... strangely okay.
Toriel did... better than expected, honestly. She requested some time alone and Sans gave it. The others bid their goodbye and even Papyrus announced that he would take Frisk to stay the night at Mettaton's. Sans nodded, told his brother no glitter after midnight and... well then they were alone.
Toriel in their bedroom and Sans in the living room. Time tickled slowly. He wanted to go to her and talk to her but he had no clue what to say.
Sorry I lied. Sorry about your son. Sorry we didn't told you. Sorry I was so messed up these last days. Sorry that I probably committed a lot of crimes and hopefully no human will ever link it to me.
Sorry I made you upset.
So he stayed in the living room, waiting for... something. He wasn't sure what.
Toriel did came down to him later, close to 11 pm. It had gotten dark outside a while ago already at that time. Sans hadn't bothered to turn on the lights... or move at all. He didn't even notice her until she stepped into his view, the moon shining on her soft fur, making her look a bit like a ghost. Sans risked a look at her face and for the first time since a really long time he couldn't say what she was thinking.
That was almost worse than anything he had imagined.
“I am very disappointed.”, she said after a stretch of silence.
“I know.”, said Sans quietly. “I... I am really sorry.”
“... did you had a reason for leaving me out of it?”
“... I... I thought so.”, said Sans. “... I didn't want to... get your hopes up. I didn't know it would even work... I just... couldn't put you through that.”
“I don't like somebody making decisions for me.”
“I know.”, said Sans, very very softly. “I know and I am sorry.”
“... would you do it again?”
Sans looked up at her and she looked down to him. He swallowed. “I... I don't know.”, he whispered. “I... I really don't.”
“Why not?”
There was absolutely no emotions in Toriel's voice or there was and Sans had no idea what to make out of it.
“I....”, he started but stopped. This was... hard. He just wanted to get away, teleport far far away but he couldn't. He wouldn't. How to explain something like that? How to explain he knew he was a hypocrite but still couldn't help acting like one?
“... I really only wanted to... to make you happy.”, mumbled Sans. “I just... I was the... the guy behind the door, remember? You told me everything, I knew how much this... all of this hurt you. Flowey even told me about the timelines he went to you and Asgore and told you two who he were. You suffered so much Toriel and... and it really isn't Asriel. I knew that from the start that he wouldn't be Asriel ever again, he would be somebody new... and I really just... just wanted to talk to you about it when I had all the facts.” He sighed. “I... it isn't all about you, I admit it. I was not ready myself. And it's messed up and stuff but... at least like this I... thought I had some sort of control over the situation? I just... I couldn't Toriel...”
He was looking away from her now, not having the strength to look at her. And Toriel herself stayed silent too.
They must have sat like this for a while before Toriel moved, fabric rustling as he leaned towards Sans and wrapped her arms around him. Sans was shaking, only now noticing just how worked up about this he was. His bones were rattling, now muffled by Toriel's fur.
He still held on to her like a lifeline.
“I am not happy.”, said Toriel after a while, still holding Sans. “But... I think I can forgive you.”
Sans thought for a moment he would pass out at these words. There were definitely tears now in his eyes. He buried his face into Toriels arm.
“I love you so much.”, he mumbled out, earning a humm from Toriel.
“I love you too.”, said said. “I... it will take some... adjustment. But I do think I... we all can come to terms with this.”
There might have been some more they talked but honestly, Sans couldn't remember. The rest of the night was a blurr but they spend it together.
The days after that were a blurr too. They had to register Azzy, make sure he was listed as Asgore's son and all the other things that required lots of paper work. There was debate about how old Azzy was now but they did decide on the age Asriel had died: Around twelve years old, the same age as Frisk was now.
They even made a room for Azzy in Asgore's little house, cleaning out one of the guest rooms and letting Azzy choose his furniture and decorations for himself. The room looked quite nice in the end, painted yellow and green, a deep blue carped on the ground. There was a soft bed, a desk, a chair a big closet with a mirror.
Azzy had chosen the mirror for himself and every morning he would look at himself in it just to prove that there was not a flower and not a goat looking at him but a plant elemental. Just Azzy.
They did talked to him too about school and, as Sans had expected, Azzy really wanted to go to school with Frisk. And because Asgore is still a big fuzzy pushover and Sans had no resistance against Frisk's puppy eyes, Azzy start going to Frisk's school soon after.
There would be time to prepare of course and Azzy was still getting the hang out of doing stuff with his little pawns but it would happen. That means that Azzy would join in a few weeks and THAT meant they would have to tell the school, the teachers and, of course, the parents of Frisk's class.
Sans was kinda looking forward and dreaded the next PTA at the same time.
And in the void, there was something now that wasn't there. A cluster of broken pieces that begun assembling itself like a puzzle. And as one bright white piece clicked together with another, there was suddenly something else.
The sound of a gentle beat of a soul and a spark of magic as a memory completed itself in it. The being felt a spark of joy or at least what could be considered as such at their current broken state. But there was some sort of awareness now, some sort of intent. The memory of a smiling face, some tiny hands and the warmth of love made the being hurry even more.
The void, for the first time, was not silent anymore and hope let the fragments of the broken soul shine brighter and brighter in the darkness.
So thank you all for still reading this, commenting, liking and reblogging.
Also I got some fanart:
This wonderful Azzy! XD It wasn't like I imagined him at first but I liked the design so much, I pretty much made it canon now. Many many thanks to @amannartblog for this! I am sorry this chapter came out so late now.

There we are! Isn’t that SO much better?! Of course it is! You’re very welcome!
My goodness, there’s so many monsters to talk about, where should I even begin? Let’s see- following our emergence out of the Mt. Ebott, we were all rounded up and placed in these shelters to be evaluated by many of your governmental departments. That took like a whole month! Your departments were very, erm, thorough! But I got to see a military base and perform my magic for people in suits! Sans didn’t seem very excited, but I thought it was great!  Um, anyway, it took us another two weeks to work out the broader political arrangements- which we are fine-tuning as we speak! Well, not this very moment, but- and... we’ve settled on monsters having a residency status of ‘refugee!’ Surprisingly- or not so surprising- a lot of different cities and people and communities wanted to sponsor us! Help us fit in, find jobs, navigate the wide, wide surface!
So, a lot of us are scattered around this kingdom- I mean, democratic land, and were... adjusting! All us monsters! All you humans! There is always room for improving our relationship, on both sides, of course, but it’s going great so far!
I’m going to tell you about my friends! Sans and myself are working for our King Asgore on these political and diplomatic matters, and Queen Toriel, Undyne, Alphys and Frisk are necessary in this process too, so we’re all together! It’s been really great!
So, about them... Oh! This could get a little detailed so let me put this under the ‘cut’! You’re welcome again~
Tumblr media
There’s my best friend, Undyne, the (former) Captain of the Royal Guard! Though the Royal Guard has been abolished, she’s been keeping herself busy as King Asgore’s personal body guard. She’s also been working with Alphys with the military and defense agencies, although not with the scientists. They’re really interested in learning about combat-oriented magic and how to ‘harness’ it! I don’t think it’s going to work the way they want it to, but goals are good... I guess?? This is another big part the King and I are working on, so Undyne has been very helpful, too! When she’s not acting as a walking meat shield or throwing spears at military people, she sometimes acts as a substitute gym teacher! Bench pressing children, running many miles, and whatever it is gym teachers do. So you know, the usual!
Tumblr media
Then there’s Alphys, my new friend and Undyne’s new girlfriend! She was working almost exclusively with the military and defense scientists until recently, teaching them about monster technology and science. They’re letting her branch out more now, so she’s also been studying and speaking with human universities in the area, learning everything she can about human technology and science.   Apparently, they’re very different! How do you humans go about your lives without magic? That sounds so...inconvenient. Anyway, I’m not sure what exactly she does, but sometimes Sans goes to help her. It’s nice to see Sans getting back into that sci-fi stuff he secretly loves so much! He’s a big nerd!   Dr. Alphys also comes to advise the King Asgore on some political matters too, helping teach him (and me! Sometimes Undyne!) about the more science and technological aspects of politics. It’s very interesting, but very dense! It sounds like a foreign language sometimes.
Sometimes I can convince her to go running with me and continue her lessons in loving herself, but she makes an awful lot of excuses. I know she’ll come around eventually, though!
Tumblr media
My new friend, Toriel, is also Sans’ mysterious friend from his days knock-knocking on the Ruins door! We we’re very shocked to discover she was the former Queen of all Monsters- and that she had such a bad sense of humor! Being with her and Sans is pun-ishment, nyeh heh heh. She’s been primarily working with myself (and King Asgore, but I act as an intermediary a lot. There’s still a lot of... tension...) on political duties, but she doesn’t seem to enjoy it very much. She still cares about her subjects deeply, of course, so she’s shifted to opening a up a monster school on the surface! I have taken over some of these duties to alleviate her burden, but she still remains a key member!
Being a principal is a lot of work, apparently. You humans love your regulations and bureaucracy. The school is limited to monster children for now, teaching them monster culture and how to control their magic, but she hopes to be able to include human children soon. There has been a surprisingly receptive community here? Better safe than sorry, however, so she’s working very hard on all of this!
Tumblr media
Of course there’s our King Asgore! He is... still the King of Monsters! As such, he is the primary correspondent to humans and representative of the wants and needs of monsters. It’s a full-time, very demanding job, because everyone always wants to meet with him! Our King is the very best, however, and his efforts have undoubtedly advanced our human-monster friendship! I’ve been learning a lot working with him, and I’m going to be the very best diplomat I can! When he’s not busy being King, which is almost never, he still enjoys gardening, especially for Toriel’s monster school, and trying all the different tea the surface has to offer- nothing can ever beat golden flower tea, but he does seem fond of green tea.
Tumblr media
And of course, (one of) my (new) best friend(s), Frisk! They live with Toriel and is the only human child attending her monster school at the moment. Though they turned down King Asgore’s offer to be ambassador for monsters (a position which I readily filled!) they are still as friendly and lively as ever, befriending humans and monsters alike. They are our mascot! I mean, Chief Public Relations Officer. Not very many of your human officials took Frisk very seriously at first, but they are very determined and persuasive! I consult them on some of my ambassador duties to help them feel included while also getting a human perspective of the issue. They are always eager to help. So, we make a great team! (Also, they loved calling me a lot Underground and continue to blow up my phone up here. What can I say, I’m a popular guy!)
That’s it! Except it’s really not. There’s so many other monsters I know and I could go on and on and on! Is there any monster in particular you were curious about? Or perhaps an entire groups of monsters?
I’m an expert at skeletons, of course! But as one of our King’s leading diplomats, I need to be able to tell humans about all our other races too! So, if you have any questions, let me know!

How To Make A Lizard, Ghost, and Robot Laugh (Chapter 1)
This story takes place three days after “The Legendary Tickle Monster”. While Asriel is still spending time with his father, Frisk and Chara invite MK over to hang out with them on their day off from school while their mother’s away. Little does MK know, the two girls have something very special planned for him. Something guaranteed to put a smile on his face. ;) This story is VERY LONG (8 chapters!) and in this first chapter, Frisk, Chara, and MK are just simply eating a nice breakfast together and having a nice conversion about their thoughts on the remainder of their school year… and about some amazing friends at school. Enjoy! ;)

HOW TO MAKE A LIZARD, GHOST, AND ROBOT LAUGH
Chapter 1: A Friendly Breakfast Conversation
It is a Wednesday morning at Toriel’s house and Frisk and Chara are just sitting at home enjoying their day off from school. Asriel isn’t present because he’s still spending some quality father-son time with Asgore. All of the students at Toriel’s school get a day off every other Wednesday and today happens to be one of those Wednesdays. It is also the last Wednesday the students will have off before the school year is over. As of today, there are only seven days left of school and nine days left until summer vacation starts (It starts on Friday afternoon of following week)! Right now, Frisk and Chara are in the house all by themselves eating some pancakes for breakfast and waiting for MK to show up and hang out with them. Toriel promised to spend some time with her fellow colleagues on this particular day and since she will be back some time during the afternoon, she decided that it would be ok to leave her daughters by themselves. Nowadays, the only time Toriel has someone watch her children is if she’s going to be gone all night.
Frisk: Boy, those were some good pancakes weren’t they Chara?
Chara: Not as good as Mom’s pies, but still good nonetheless.
Frisk: Absolutely! You know who else makes good pancakes? Our friend Kyle!
Kyle is a 10-year-old 4th grade human student that is an outstanding chef for a boy his age. He is also one the sweetest boys you will ever meet, if not THE sweetest boy you will ever meet! :)
Chara: He sure does! I don’t know how he does it, but his pancakes are ALWAYS perfect circles! Being an amazing chef is definitely something that will help get him a girlfriend when he’s older. Girls love a boy that can cook! And our friend, Patty sure likes him!
While Kyle may be excellent friends with Frisk, Chara, Asriel, and MK, his best friend is a girl named Patricia. Like Kyle, Patricia (Patty) is a 10-year-old 4th grade human student and is excellent friends with Frisk, Chara, Asriel, and MK. Her best trait is that she is able to tolerate delay, trouble, and/or suffering without getting angry or upset better than most and one of her hobbies is collecting cute hair accessories (particularly in the color red).
Frisk: Yeah, but Patty doesn’t like Kyle because he’s a great cook. She likes him because he’s sweet. And he likes her because she showed great interest in getting to know the person he truly is. And now the two of them are entirely comfortable around each other. I imagine those two kids will be boyfriend and girlfriend by the time they’re in middle school.
Chara: *with a large grin on her face* Oooooh, I bet they will!
Before too long, Frisk and Chara heard the doorbell.
Frisk: Oh, that must be MK. I’ll go let him in.
Chara: Sounds good Frisk. Ask him if he’s had any breakfast, will you?
Frisk: Sure.
Chara: Oh, and don’t forget about what we have planned for him today!
Frisk: *with a big grin on her face* I won’t.
Frisk then headed to the front door to let MK or whoever rang the doorbell in the house. Before Frisk opened the door, she decided to look through the keyhole to see who it was. As she looked though the keyhole, she noticed a lizard boy making funny faces and it made her laugh in response due to the keyhole making his teeth appear larger than what they really are.
 Frisk: *while laughing* Hi MK!
MK: Hi Frisk! *with a large grin on his face* Were you looking through the hole?
Frisk: *continues laughing* I sure was! You’re so silly MK!
MK: You know it!
Frisk: Have you had any breakfast yet MK?
MK: Just a candy bar. Why?
Chara: *appears out of nowhere* Did I just hear someone say candy bar?!
Frisk: *giggling* Chara, come on. That’s like the fifth time this month. Get a hold of yourself.
Chara: *joking* Well excuse for having such a huge candy craving Ms. Bossypants! I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me. *goes to the kitchen*
Frisk: Well anyways, before we were hilariously interrupted by that adorable chocoholic, I was going to tell you that Chara and I have some pancakes for you if you want any.
MK: That sounds amazing Frisk! Thank you!
Frisk: Sure thing MK. By the way, how’s it going with Undyne and Alphys?
MK: Absolutely amazing Frisk! I’m doing such an awesome job earning back their trust. Their words, not mine!
Frisk: That’s so wonderful to hear MK! *hugs MK* Keep up the great work!
MK: I will Frisk.
Frisk and MK then headed to the kitchen to get MK some breakfast. Frisk didn’t know why MK only had a candy bar for breakfast, but she didn’t make any hesitation to feed him some delicious pancakes with a variety of syrups to choose from. While MK was eating a vastly superior breakfast, Frisk and Chara asked him about what his thoughts were on the final weeks of school. Like Frisk, Chara, and Asriel, MK enjoys school very much. And also like them, he’s looking forward to being done due to these last few weeks being a bit rough on him and his friends (and Toriel). MK actually has a science exam this Friday. Science isn’t his best subject, but he’s been studying hard enough for the exam (he studied with friends in addition to studying alone and Alphys even quizzed him a few times) that he feels he will get an “A” on it. In addition, Frisk, Chara, and Asriel have a math exam this Friday and like MK, all three of them feel like they’re ready for their respective exam.
Overall, MK is both happy and sad that school will be over soon. He’s happy because summer vacation will provide him lots of opportunities to spend time with Frisk, Chara, and Asriel in addition to his other friends. But he’s sad because Frisk, Chara, and Asriel will be starting middle school (they will be in 7thgrade) next year and he will hardly be able to see the three of them because they will be in a different building. Due to being one year younger than Frisk, Chara, and Asriel, MK has one year left of elementary school. But everything will be fine because MK has three very supportive classmates (all three of them are humans and they are excellent friends with the Dreemurr children as well as MK) and because Toriel will be his teacher next year. :) MK’s classmates’ names are Bradley, Isabella, and Justin and like MK, they are in 5th grade and are all 11 years old. Bradley (Brad) is a courageous boy that loves action movies and martial arts, Isabella (Izzy) is an honest girl with strong moral principles and a passion for dancing, and Justin is a fair and reasonable boy that loves anything having to do with the Wild West. MK always worked on school projects with these three students and all three of them think highly of MK and are happy to be his friends. And in turn, MK is happy to be their friend and he is looking forward to being in 6th grade with them next year. :)
Frisk: That’s the spirit MK! Always look at the positives. And don’t worry, Chara, Asriel, and I will always be sure to find time to hang out with you.
Chara: Yeah MK. And you’re going to love having our mother as your teacher!
MK: Oh I know I will! I am going to miss seeing Mrs. Kidman though. She’s an amazing teacher!
Mrs. Monica Kidman is the 5th grade teacher at Toriel’s elementary school. She is a human in her thirties, she has red hair, and she is very supportive towards each and every one of her students, especially MK. When MK didn’t have arms, Mrs. Kidman was extremely supportive for him when it came to helping him learn. She did things such as modifying his desk so it would hold his notebooks/papers in place for him whenever he wrote down learning material (he used to write by holding a pencil/pen in his tail or in between his toes) and spending time with him after school in case he was unable to capture all of the information taught to him during classes (Brad, Izzy, and Justin were also helpful in this regard). At first, some of MK’s peers referred to him as the teacher’s pet (which ironically makes some sense due to her being a human and him being a lizard) because of Mrs. Kidman’s treatment towards him, but it died down rather quickly as the school year went by though. Mrs. Kidman holds MK in very high regard and he is actually like a son to her (He is also looked at as big brother to her 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter). Because of this, MK will be sure to keep in touch with her after he finishes fifth grade. :)
Frisk: I bet you will! Our mom’s said many amazing things about her! And so have Brad, Izzy, and Justin!
Chara: They sure have! And speaking of them, didn’t you say you might meet with them tomorrow after school MK?
MK: Yes I did Chara. Even though all of us feel ready for that science test, we feel that meeting one more time to study will be very beneficial.
Frisk: Good thinking MK. Chara, Asriel, and I should probably meet with Perry tomorrow and do the same.
Perry is a 12-year-old human boy who is in the same grade as the Dreemurr children. Just as MK did with Brad, Izzy, and Justin, the Dreemurr children worked on many school projects with Perry. Perry is very intelligent and he shows exceedingly strong commitment to both his schoolwork and everyday life despite any difficulty or delay in achieving success.
Chara: If there’s one student who’s going to pass this exam, it’s gonna be Perry. That boy’s the smartest kid in the class!
Frisk: He sure is! Do you remember the looks everyone gave us when you, Asriel, and I first started working on projects with him Chara?
Chara: I sure do Frisk. I’m just glad you and Mom were able to straighten all of them out.
When Frisk, Chara, and Asriel first started working on projects with Perry, the majority of their classmates believed that they were only working with him because he’s the smartest kid in the class when that wasn’t what was going on at all. The Dreemurr children worked with Perry because they like him for who he is and his intelligence wasn’t one of the things that came to mind when they partnered up with him in the first place. And when the four kids worked on projects together, they all contributed the same amount of work.
Frisk: Yeah, it took A LOT of convincing but I’m glad that everyone no longer sees it that way.
Chara: And thank goodness for that! By the way MK; as soon as you’re finished with those pancakes, we’re gonna watch some TV together. It’s getting close to 9:30. *with a big grin on her face* You know what that means.
One of the kids’ favorite animated shows is on at 9:00 in the morning on weekdays.
MK: *gasp* I sure do. *eats faster*
Frisk: Slow down MK! We don’t want you to get a belly ache!
Chara: Remember Lizzy Boy; we can pause the show if you’re not finished eating by then.
MK: Oh, right. I forget that sometimes.
TO BE CONTINUED...

Troubles With Sleep
Day 2 of Soriel Week! The prompt is “sleep”, so get ready for some rad sleeping action! Also, I made an art, which you could find at the end!
An Undertale Fanfiction by: Topaz Shadowwolf Undertale is owned by: Toby Fox Relationships: Soriel  Rating: Everyone Heads up: Mention of death
Troubles With Sleep
For the longest time, Toriel had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. At night, in the quiet hours in the Ruins, her mind would wander to the darker concepts in life. She would see and remember things she could and will never forget. Her mind tortured her with haunting memories of faces, pain, and cries for help; which chased her all-night long.
First, she would remember watching Chara, her beloved adopted child, slowly die an agonizing and horrible death. Nothing she did eased the suffering the innocent soul endured. No matter how much she wanted to take that burden on herself, she could not. After all the times, she promised the child that she would keep them safe, she was powerless to save them.
Then her son. Her dear, sweet son, who was the light of her life. His broken and blooded body was found collapsed and dying on the throne room floor. She remembers being there, by him, as he clung to the empty body of his dead sibling. Sobbing as her healing magic failed to do anything. Then breaking into a hysterical wail as he fell to dust. In the moment he needed her most, she failed him. Twice in one day she failed as a mother.
Asgore, also pained by the loss of his children, acted. While she mourned, he declared war on the humans. How he could do that, after loving and caring for Chara, was beyond her scope of understanding. For the next few days they yelled, argued, and refused to be near each other. For years upon years, he had always come to her for such decisions. She would talk to him, counsel him. And now? He turned from her, ignored her, and refused to listen to her reason; nor, would he back down. Even when she explained the idiocy of it, he did not relent. That was when she left. Turning her back on the one she had come to love with all her heart, and leaving him with his own choice of bloodshed.
Every human child, who fell, she cared for as long as they would stay with her. She made sure they had food, drink, bed, shelter, love, and new clothes for their growing bodies. But each one left. They each seemed to have a mission they were driven to complete. And every time, news filtered through of their deaths. For all of them, she felt her soul die a little more, and her ability to sleep diminished. She became cold, distant, and angry with the world and the monsters in it. Never again did she think she would find joy or happiness.
Even after moving to the surface, her sleep patterns hadn't improved. There was concerns at work, about human and monster relations, Asgore wanting her forgiveness, Frisk wanting her to forgive Asgore, and the wellbeing of Frisk. There was so much going on in her life, so much to think and worry about. There was hardly any time for sleep, and some nights she half spent sitting up, making lists of all she needed to do for handling upcoming events.
As if she didn’t already have enough to worry about, her mind would wander to the health of her one dear friend. The one monster who showed her how to laugh again while they were still underground. He had brightened up her life, day after day, visiting her door, telling her jokes and stories about life outside and his brother. And the day they finally met, and learned each other's names, was one of the greatest in her life.
It didn’t take her long to figure out that Sans didn't share her problem. He slept very easily, passing out at any moment. A few times he apologized for leaning on her in his sleep, but she didn't mind. In fact, she really enjoyed the feel of his weight on her side, the subtle movement of his ribs as he breathed, and the soft hum of his magic and soul.
If anything, it made her feel drowsy, which was something she hadn't felt in ages. Remembering this, a few times at night, she would imagine hugging him. Feeling him there, in her mind, and letting his deep voice chase the ill thoughts away. It seemed childish, and it was something she wouldn’t want to tell him; but, it helped.
This night it was not working. No matter how hard she tried, sleep would not come. She wanted to talk with him, and was considering calling him. But she knew that is silly, he would be in bed, asleep like she should be. Still, her insomnia was getting to her and she had to do something. Grabbing her phone and a stylus, she found her text conversation with Sans and send a quick message.
*We should meet tomorrow (or today, considering the time), I found a pretty puzzle we can put together. That is, of course, if you're not too busy with work. Hope I don't wake you, sleepy bones, and for a piece of your time tomorrow.
With it sent, she started reviewing their old back and forth joke telling. What she wasn't expecting was how quickly she received a reply.
*hey t, you're up late. sure, i can see you after work. noon good?
*So are you, I thought you’d be asleep. And yes, noon is perfect.
 *k see you then.
She stared at her phone for a moment. It would be easy to dismiss it as him waking up to her text and being tired. Or that he was just up late with his brother for some reason. But it still bothered her that he didn’t reply with a single pun or joke. He didn’t even acknowledge the one she made. Frowning she decided to not let this slide.
*Alright, but Sans, what are you doing up?
There was a long pause, as the dots indicating he was responding appeared and disappeared multiple times. Finally, the reply came.
 *what abt you?
 That skeleton!
Toriel huffed and glared at her phone. How dare he flip her concern for him back on herself. He was deflecting, and unlike usual, not with a joke. Quickly, she wrote a new message.
*I am fine. You, though, fall asleep at the slightest lull in activity. I don't want you passing out more than normal, or sleeping at your job.
 *i won't, t.
Toriel sighed. How would he know? He’ll most likely be so tired when he gets here, the moment she set the puzzle out he’d fall asleep. As she sat there fuming, he sent another message.
 *sorry
Toriel looked at that word, confused; but more than that, she felt concerned. As far as she knew, there was nothing for him to be sorry about. Considering the times she has caught him looking, sounding, and acting melancholy, she couldn’t help but worry.
 *For what, my friend?
 *everything
*I’m not sure I understand what you mean.
*never mind, i should sleep, good night.
 *Sans, are you alright?
He took a moment to reply.
 *nyes
 He then quickly corrected.
 *yes
 *I’m calling.
The dots of him replying quickly popped up, but she didn't wait to see. She flipped over to her contact list, selected his name and called. He let it ring a while before answering.
“hey, t.”
“What did you mean by ‘everything?’” Toriel asked.
“it's nothing, don't worry about it,” there was such a heaviness in his tone.
“I don't believe you, what's wrong?” She persisted, saddened to hear him like that.
“i,” he started, but stopped, so she waited. Experience has taught her that it sometimes takes him a moment to collect his thoughts, especially when he was going to talk about something he normally wouldn’t. From the other end, she heard a shuddering sigh before he continued, “i’m prone to nightmares. and i was awake when you texted because of a pretty bad one. just left me rattled, heh.”
It is rare for him to open like that, and she knew better than to point out that he sounded distressed. “I’m sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do to help?”
“thanks tori, but it's fine, really. you should sleep, and i should get back to sleep.”
She sat there for a moment, knowing this skeleton all too well to just accept that answer, “If I were to hang up, would you go to sleep again?”
His silence answered that. He had nothing to say, because he knew she wouldn’t like the answer. Though, if he was prone to nightmares, like he said, perhaps that is why he is always falling asleep during the day. The sleep needed isn’t being achieved at night.
“If I say I will try going to sleep, could you try as well?” Toriel asked.
“sure, tori,” he said. There was some humor there, but still, the heaviness was present. They then wished each other goodnight, and hung up.
Toriel did get some sleep, but it wasn’t much. The next morning, she got up, made breakfast, and then walked Frisk to their friend’s house to play. It was nice when Frisk could have days like this, to just be a child. If it were possible, she would go back in time and stop Asgore from putting so much responsibility on the poor child’s shoulders. She was unsure how he could not see that Frisk was too young for a job like that.
As she walked home, she thought back to the shared issue with sleep. That is when she got a brilliant idea, but she would need a little help to do it right. Pulling out her cell phone, she knew just who to call.
After hanging up with Toriel, Sans did go back to sleep, only to wake up again. He had another two hours before his alarm would go off and he doubted he would sleep yet again.
His alarm woke him, so he must have drifted off at some point. Unwilling to get up, he rolled to his back and stared at the ceiling, debating calling in sick. But, if he did, he’d feel guilty that he skipped work and then hung out with Tori. Pap needs the money for school, food, and housing costs.
In the underground, Sans had multiple jobs to pay for the house. So far, he managed to find just one-person willing to hire his boney butt on the surface, and they only took him on part time. Right now, the brothers were getting by on savings and what little Sans can earn. As for Papyrus, Sans would rather work himself to the bone and let his bro focus on his studies, and not worry about a job or money.
Closing his eye sockets and rubbing his face, he really didn’t want to get up. His second alarm went off and he finally rose from his bed and grabbed his uniform. He then set on his bed and stared at, with the enthusiasm of any resident of Snowdin who had the ‘pleasure’ to spend the day with Jerry.
At his third alarm, Sans finally got dressed, and exited his room before the fourth - ‘hurry up and get ready now’ - alarm went off. He grabbed a breakfast bar, his jacket, and left.
Sans’ job was simple. Either he was taking orders, handling money, and passing off the food; or he quickly prepared food for waiting customers. This early in the day, what was cooked mostly consisted of eggs and bacon. It was a small, non-chain, food joint, that Papyrus wouldn’t want to work or eat at. Not that different than his hotdog stand in Hotlands or even Grillby’s, really.
When his shift ended, he made his way to Tori’s, feeling more defeated than he did when he started the day. Dealing with some of the customers dampened his mood, immensely. And there were so many disgruntled humans there today, that his coworkers agreed he should stay in back for food prep, leaving the customers to them.
Once at Toriel’s house, he walked up to the door and sighed, glancing down at his clothes. He could smell work on himself. He should have swung by home first, even if it made him late. But he said noon. What he really should do is just tell her he's feeling sick and go home. Unsure if he should talk or text, he stared at the door.
Well, he was here, might as well talk.
He knocked twice on the door and hear a voice from inside call, “Who’s there?”
“no bell”
“No bell who?”
“did i win the nobel prize?”
Toriel laughed as she opened the door to let him in. Hearing her voice was all he needed to have his day brightened, and his final decision was to stay. When he walked in he was about to go to the table, where he was sure the jigsaw puzzle would be waiting, but what he saw in the family room caught his attention. Blankets were propped up on chairs and the sofa to form a tent like structure. It was rather big, bigger than any blanket fort he or Papyrus ever made.
“frisk make that?” Sans asked, admiring the effort.
“Actually, I did. I don't know about you, but I’m still tired from last night,” Toriel stepped closer and placed one of her large paws on his shoulder. It was warm with her magic naturally flowing through it, like the life blood of humans. He wanted to look up at her as she spoke, but his eyes were transfixed on the soft, shimmering fur, and the elegant opalescent claws at the end of each finger.
“uh, yeah, same,” was his less than dignified response.
“So, I thought we would relax, maybe watch a movie and rest or nap instead. After all, I tried reading this morning but my tired eyes kept blurring the words,” Toriel continued. Sans glanced up at her face, seeing that beautiful smile of hers aimed at him.
To this change of events, he wasn't sure what to say. “ok,” was the best he could muster. He then remembered he was in his work clothes, “i could head home and change, it won't take long, I know a shortcut.”
“No need, my dearest friend,” she said as her hand left his shoulder. Curious he trailed after her when Toriel moved further into the house. “For you see,” she said before picking up a duffel bag, “someone told me long ago about a wonderful and sweet monster. And he was more than willing to gather some things for you.”
Sans stared at the bag being offered to him. It was his old bag, teal blue with grey accents, that he used when he was attending college underground. He would pack it and take it with him when he would to be away a few days. He took and opened it to find a set of pajamas and some wash clothes just under a well-used book.
“Oh? What’s that?” Toriel asked.
“a bedtime classic at our house. so, if this is what we’re going to do, let’s get ready, settle back, and join fluffy bunny in his adventures,” Sans looked up at Toriel. She was an amazing friend, and Papyrus, obviously, the coolest bro.
Papyrus must have bought the pajamas after Toriel called him, as Sans hadn’t owned a pair since reaching adulthood. That, and the obvious hint was the tag still being on them. Sans had gone in the bathroom to clean up, which didn’t take long. When he walked out, he joined Toriel in the blanket and pillow fort. The two cuddled next to each other while he read. Just like at home with Papyrus, Toriel was asleep soon after the story finished. As Sans laid there, next to the most beautiful woman he could ever hope to be near, he wished that this moment would last the rest of his life. They had been friends for so long, hanging out together as often as possible. They had been getting closer, but they have only really ‘hung out.’ They were impromptu dates, but it would be nice to make it more official. Perhaps, if he still has the nerves to, when he wakes he’ll ask her out on a proper date.

Sacrifices: Four
A/N: Please don't be afraid to comment. I would love feedback! Frisk did a lot of talking last time we saw her. I'm sure that shocked Sans to the bone. xD Anyways, don't expect that too often. :P ~~
My voice was hoarse and I felt drained. But I needed to get school work done. I was barely into my first lesson for the day when I heard a knock on my door.
"Frisk," Toriel's voice sounded from the other side. "I'm coming in."
I sighed, putting my pencil down as Toriel opened the door. She had a concerned look on her face.
"My child, are you okay? We heard a lot of muffled yelling. Was that you?" She paused then looked away. "When Sans came back he seemed... Off. What happened between you two?"
I looked at her straight in the eyes.
"Hopefully," I signed, "I cleared some things up with him. That's all."
Toriel said nothing for a few moments. Would she accept what I told her? It wasn't much of an explanation. Rather, not the explanation she was hoping for. But she didn't press the issue.
"All right, my child. If you don't want to say any more, I understand. I'll let you get back to your school work." Toriel hugged me tightly before leaving. I hated to leave her out of things like this, but what happened earlier was private. Something that will stay only between me and Sans.
Right after Toriel left, I went straight to work. I used school to forget all my problems for a little while. However, all things must come to an end. I was tempted to begin working on the following Monday's lessons, then decided against it. I'd locked myself in my study for over five hours. I also needed sustenance. Besides that, Toriel would fillet me if I stayed up here all day.
I pulled out my phone to check the time. It was a little past one. As if on cue, my stomach grumbled. A bacon cheese burger and some fries sounded really good right about now. I left my study and went downstairs. Toriel was on the couch knitting. She looked up as I came in.
"I'm going to Grilby's, okay?" I signed to her. Toriel smiled. She showed no signs of being bothered by the incident from earlier.
"Of course, my child. When will you be back?"
I thought for a moment. I didn't plan to come back right away after I ate. I wanted to visit Alphys. Maybe watch some anime with her.
"I'll be back before dinner, so around seven or six."
     "All right. Be safe!"
I blew her a kiss before grabbing my car keys. My car was nothing special. It was a silver stick shift Jetta. I got it for around a grand. The price wasn't too bad. The car was in pretty good shape. Though the clutch stalls every now and then. I got into my car, started it, then backed out of the drive way. Grilby's was about a ten-minute drive from my house. It was one of the hotspots in town.
When Grilby move his bar up to the surface, humans started frequenting the place. It caused quite a controversy with the anti-monster groups out there. Though not as much as monsters coming back to the surface did. However, after a while things quieted down. Grilby's is now some kind of neutral ground, politically speaking anyways. There are a lot of places that have instated a no monster policy. As the ambassador for the monsters, I'm fighting against this discrimination. Progress is slow, but we're getting there. As of now, we're doing pretty good since monsters can become citizens. Well, in most countries.
Soon enough, I pulled into Grilby's parking lot. I was lucky to even find a spot. Grilby's was packed today. No surprise there, it being Friday and all. I made my way to the bar's entrance. The bouncer, Lesser Dog, waved me on through. I pet him on the head before heading in. I laughed as he started shaking excitedly. That brought back memories from our fight. I did not know a dog's neck could stretch as far as his did.
I shut the door behind me, then surveyed the entire bar. Humans and monsters were conversing peacefully. That's the way it should be everywhere... One day, I thought. I headed over to the bar table and sat in my usual seat. The chair to my right was empty. That's odd. Sans is usually here every day. Maybe he didn't want to see me after what happened this morning. I heard someone clear their throat and I was snapped out of thoughts. When my eyes focused, I saw Grilby. I smiled at the fire elemental monster.
"Will you be having the usual?"
         I nodded.
     "I'll be back, Ms Frisk."
I made a face at him after he left to take care of my order. He's so formal! But I guess it fits his personality. A few moments later, Grilby came back with my bacon cheese burger. It looked like heaven in a burger. Before I dug in, I had one question for Grilbz.
"Have you seen Sans today?" I signed.
Grilby shook his head. If he had facial features, I swear he would be looking at me with an arched brow.
"Did something happen between the two of you?" He asked.
     "nothin’ of much importance."
I jumped as Sans materialized next to me.

What kind of music do u hc the undertale characters listen to?
I feel like it’s hard to say since I think anyone can like any kind of music. I know I’ve been surprised by a lot of people’s tastes.
But I’ll give it a shot!
Frisk
Neutral, generally likes everything. [Insert your own musical preferences here]
Toriel
Maybe owns a radio?? On the surface someone gets her an mp3 player and she only put like 20 songs on it. 11 of them are the Frozen soundtrack.
Historically likes gentle songs. Likes contemporary classical music. Guitars. Cellos. Piano.
Since arriving on the surface, likes girl power pop music. Stuff like Roar and Fight Song and Mr. Know-It-All. Alphys and Frisk help her use the iTunes.
(A part of me also feels like she might have a passing interest in pop-country music? Summer nights and trucks and daisy dukes SOUND nostalgic and relatable, even though she’s never experienced those things.)
Sans
Classic rock and experimental stuff from the 70s. Out of everyone I feel like he’s the most likely to have a secret bitchin’ record collection. –I say records, but I also think he’s the sort of person who keeps a cassette walkman in his pocket on sentry duty. Between both bros, this is the format most frequently picked out of the dump.
Appreciates jazz too, but not for any reason related to the trombone. He literally only learned how to play the three notes required to do WOMP WOMP WAAAA and nothing else.
Also found a Dr. Demento mixtape once and has cherished it forever.
Papyrus
80s and 90s hip hop? He tries really hard to rap along with the words. He’s gotten very good at enunciating! Had a brief period of his youth where he wanted to be a professional rapper spitting sick rhymes, probably.
Also Janet Jackson for some reason?? And similar pop ladies from that era. I want you to visualize Pap singing and dancing along to Paula Abdul.
Has not learned how you can get the tape back in a cassette. He thinks Sans has a special device for fixing them in his workshop. Technically he does, it’s called a pencil.
MK
Metal. All kinds of metal. #1 Underground headbanging champ, 201X.
Undyne
Piano! Has a surprising softer side that is appreciative of the classical arts. Actually does some in depth music theory studies.
Also likes the high energy theme songs from Alphys’ anime and wants one for herself.
She prefers her music live. It’s better when it’s fresh.
Alphys upgraded her phone to hold music too now! She’s secretly an analog purist, but appreciates the gesture! Alphys claims the difference between a digital file and a live performance is negligible. In relationships though we have to overlook some of our partners’ flaws.
Napstablook
Likes to take in lots of different stuff. Appreciates virtuosity. Not committed to any one genre.
They love electronic music the most though, and it’s what they write the most of themselves. Also likes to do remixes. They’ll remix their own songs, or other people’s. They’d love to collaborate more, if they weren’t so shy…
Despite sharing a dedication to music with Undyne, they’re like, polar opposites on the digital v. analog debate. Blooky thinks digital is the way of the future. Has a Soundcloud account and wants their music to be free to the widest audience possible.
Downloads a lot of illegal music. Like, has terabytes of the stuff on hard drives in their house. You feel your sins crawling at 56kbps.
Alphys
Weeaboo trash. Her music collection looks roughly the same as mine did in 2007.
Also follows KPop religiously. Knows every band member’s name. Knows the all labels they work under. Oh, so like Gangnam Style, asks Undyne. Alphys sucks on her teeth and says sure. In relationships we have to overlook some of our partners’ flaws.
Tends to like upbeat pop stuff more than anything else. She just likes catchy music and fun dance routines.
Listens to everything digital. Any CDs are ripped immediately.
MTT
Lots of showtunes. Likes songs that require over-singing and belting out long notes. Fascinated by Broadway and performance art, but feels like humans don’t push it far enough.
Feels like disco was the right direction for music to go in, and he doesn’t understand why it was abandoned.
Dislikes the aimless electronica that Blooky creates (not that he’d ever say it), and likes music better when it’s got a bumping beat and fun vocals.
Actually shares Alphys’ love of Asian pop groups. He’s all about style and presentation, and baby, they’ve got it!
Is in a constant state of borrowing other people’s music. Doesn’t really have a personal library– he just points at the nearest person and is like “find me something I can dance to!” …That usually works, actually.
Failing that, he’s more of an internet radio kind of guy. Since becoming famous on the surface, fans have been making fan playlists for him and his show. He tries to listen to all of them and leave a personal comment and like. Eventually it gets to be too much to handle, but he still always has a fanmix on in the background when he’s doing other things.
Asgore
Would actually prefer some peace and quiet, tbh.
He’s never really gotten into the newer music (newer meaning, created in the last 1000 years). He misses the chants people had in the Dark Ages. They just don’t make them like they used to.
All the same, he likes to attend concerts. Especially chorus concerts. He probably cries when the voices are really great. He never misses a single kids’ concert at Toriel’s school.
Undyne found a nature sounds disc when they were still Underground and gave it to him. It makes him sad, but he cherishes it and has thoroughly worn it out. He liked to share it with other people when they asked him what the surface was like. It is the only recorded album he owns.
Asriel
Liked upbeat songs that were popular at the time. He was a wiggly kid that danced to everything (really badly). He looked like a goof, but he never realized that about himself and had a lot of fun.
As Flowey, he claims to hate everything. And it’s true that music doesn’t move him the same way it did. Sources say they saw a flower bobbing to the beat in the crowd during MTT’s fight with the human though.
Since coming to the surface, it’s become a dream of his to crowd surf at least once in his life.
Chara
Likes sad songs. Likes to listen and stare at the ceiling and think about life. Asriel doesn’t understand how listening to something that makes you feel bad… could make you feel good?
They find it calming and it brings them to another place. It’s nice to just… detach for awhile.
