Ace has been known to exploit his female ecto form for free drinks

Chisel snaps frequently but is actually pretty slow to make truly angry

Scout had a fireworks business that failed because he used all the product

Whip will never admit to enjoying an excessive amount of whipped cream on anything he can get away with putting it on

Tender sometimes pretends to zone out to get out of conversations

Doc neither denies nor admits his enjoyment of flavored coffees

Haze unashamedly loves metal music, ashamedly loves repetitive pop music

Shine quietly talks to himself when alone, usually a narration of what’s going on

Shuffle was caught by a Tem trying to teach the herd of stray cats to dance and had to agree to teach Tems too if he wanted it to stay secret

Saturn has the weirdest love/hate relationship with pickles

Sage will be marginally less of an asshole if you hand him a raw turnip

Aurum has amassed a great many admirers across the globe and is aware of maybe 2 of them Archi actually hates the taste of alcohol despite always being seen with a cocktail but refuses to switch to virgin drinks on principle

I was pondering over if I did choose to make the skeles into d&d chars using the prev posts (fantasy races & fantasy classes), and it came to mind that Calico and Sage both having “divine” classes as a base, would require they have deities to follow or have forsaken. So I poked around to find ones I liked and would use if I were to make them character sheets.

Calico would be a cleric of Lathander, a god of creativity, birth, and self-perfection. He was often called upon to bless births. He focused on hope and the future. Sage would be a former paladin of Tyr, a god of law and justice. Tyr could sense anyones moral/ethical viewpoint and detect lies. He was typically considerd a fair judge but could also been seen as a rigid and stern punisher. 

While neither’s class would require choosing a deity, Aurum and Viridis would both have their own deities they are followers up. Specifiically Celestian god of stars and wanderers for Aur, and Fharlanghn god of horizons and travel for Vir.

I almost went with Selune Moonbow for Cali, but the alignment difference doesn’t work.

I’ve been toying with the idea of Aurum and Viridis’ Gaster.

So when the brothers (yes both) fell into the void, they became jumbled with Gaster. Which left Gaster unwhole, but also bits of themselves were left behind.

Sans became Aurum, who's soul is 50% Sans, 40% Gaster, and 10% Papyrus.

 And Papyrus became Viridis who is 50% Pap, 40% Gaster, 10% Sans.

Which leaves Gaster only 20% of himself, but 40% Sans and 40% Papyrus. 

I’ve been mulling over what exactly that looks like.

Stubborn. Hard working. An optimistic nihilist. Calculated risk taker, blending knowlege and percetiveness with imuplsiveness. Emotions run deep and often overwhelming. 

Do I name him Inanis or Tenebrae? 

Some tentative choices I’ve made for him

MBTI, Ennea, Instinctive Stack : INTJ, 5w4, sx/sp 

He isn’t an enemy, but not a friend either. 

His soul isn’t quite as... stable isn’t the right word, given Aur and Vir’s souls are not exactly perfectly normal either but. He’s defintiely the worst off of the three.

For the ‘prestige’ classes, the ones listed are not necessarily the only way to reach that prestige, just how the skele in question did so.

I do think a case could be made for one of the Divine classes (Cleric, Paladin, Inquisitor, etc) for any of the Judges.

Alignment :: What would be their D&D alignment? How might it come into play?

Chaotic Neutral - Chaotic Good. He tends to straddle the line on this one. He isn't above breaking the law or even his own personal codes under "the right" circumstances. He does tend to lean towards helping others but is also prone to self indulgence. He will always prioritize his family over anyone else however.

Beverage :: What do they most like to drink, and why?

He is quite fond of most whiskeys, as well as any obscure alcohols he stumbles upon in his travels.

Co-Habitate :: Do they live with anyone? What’s “need to know” before moving in?

He lives with his brother, whether home in the Hollow, or traveling. He keeps odd hours and is not always mindful of noise levels.

Decor :: What kind of home do they keep? Are there any defining details?

Its an organized sort of cluttered. His brother Viridis cleans regularly, but you can definitely tell which rooms Aur spends most of his time in.

Escape :: What do they do to destress? How successful is it?

Whatever whim hits him at any given time. It rarely actually helps with real stressors, simply delays having to deal with them.

Fluff :: What hits their soft spot? Does anything them into emotional goo?

His brother can get him to do just about anything. He also tends to be weak to an inquisitive mind. Curiosity is something he willingly indulges in himself, but also in others. Expressing genuine interest in his travels and the cultures he's experienced with endear one to him quickly.

Grudge :: How bad does an insult go over? Do they hold a grudge long?

He brushes off most insults/threats/etc with ease and humor. You'd think he simply disregarded it. Don't be fooled. Aurum can hold a grudge for literal centuries and unless atoned for those transgressions will absolutely bite them in the ass eventually.

Hobby :: What’s something they do for fun that might be surprising?

He isn't very good at it, but he loves cooking. Specifically learning regional dishes from native people.

Insomnia :: What’s their sleeping schedule like? Snorer? Sound sleeper?

Erratic at best. He sleeps wherever he lands whenever he's decided he's done for the day. He is a fairly light sleeper unless he knows Vir is awake to keep an eye on things.

Jaded :: Do they buy into the “happily ever after” ideal? What’s their standard?

He both does and doesn't. It happens, but not often and people who tend to assume they found it are fooling themselves. For Aur a true "happy ever after" is being willing to work for it together. Putting in the work to make it the dream.

Kin :: What’s their role among their relations? Do they consider others family?

He tends to fall into the "wild adventurer who is rarely home but always has an amazing story" sort of role. The free spirit. He's great at diffusing arguments when he is around, generally via distraction.

Law :: What do they think about abiding rules? Are they selective about it?

He doesn't particularly care about the law. He'll follow them if they aren't in the way. He does try to be respectful of the rules/culture of the peoples he meets when traveling, but will go against even those if he feels ot necessary.

Magic :: In a magic series or not, are they accepting, or is each instance a shock?

Aur is enamoured with magic and studies any hint of it he comes across.

Network :: Are they connected to the people? How much do they reach out to others?

His travels and ease with connecting means he has a strong international network of people he can contact and rely on for most any task he needs.

Offspring :: What kind of parent would they be? Would they prefer one, or multiple?

He doesn't hate the idea of kids, though it scares him. Would be a very loving, encouraging, parent but maybe not the most responsible.

Pistol :: Is this character skilled with a weapon? What’s their opinion of violence?

He is fairly ambivalent about violence. He doesn't prefer it, but won't hesitate should it be needed.

Question :: How often do they feel doubt? What topics are they defensive about?

Aur comes off as very confident and comfortable about himself. This isn’t exactly true, at all, but he doesn’t give himself time to think about it.

Reminder :: How are they at remembering daily needs? What falls through the cracks?

Not the best. He tends to whatever he feels when he feels it, and has nothing resembling a routine.

Sing :: Do they like music? Do they listen often/sing/hum/play songs in their head?

He loves music and dancing and revelry in general. He's always moving and making noise of some kind.

Touch :: How do they handle contact? Is their personal bubble big?

Fairly tactile, though he'll have moments if strong avoidance.

Upcoming :: How much do they think of the future? Do they make long-term plans?

He does make plans, usually at the prompting of his brother. They aren't usually very reliable however, as he tends to follow whatever whim or mood hits him.

Vice :: What bad habits do they have? Is there something they would be ashamed of?

He isn't particularly ashamed, but he can be a bit of a drinker, and tends to be over indulgent in general.

Wardrobe :: What’s their fashion style? Do they have any staple pieces?

There is a level of expensive refinement and adornment to what he wears, but also wear and age. He likes sturdy but decorative pieces. Lots of embossed leather.

X-Ray :: How’s their health? Any problem areas? Do they take care of themselves?

Remarkably healthy for one so careless. He has a strong constitution.

Yack :: What’s their favorite thing to talk about? What do they go on about?

His travels, the ruins and wilds he's explored, the people he's met, cultures he's experienced. He can chatter in for hours if you let him.

Zodiac :: What’s their astro sign? Does it fit? What would you pick, if it’s unknown?

Sagittarius. It absolutely fits

There was a comment on the Cali A-Z so.

So the thing about Cali’s books, is that he is very old, and even if he wasn’t, his... knowlege, of the world, expands far beyond his own expirience. It isn’t uncommon for Shine to have to extract him from “getting lost” because he’d followed the timeline back just to witness the way Moa came into being or when exactly the last Irish Elk fell. 

Traversing the times spiritually/mentally tends to be safer when you have a specific target in mind to follow, and stick to one specific line, ignoring all its missed or possible branches. He found that tracing the full cycle of a creature made it easier for him to stay “on task” while also allowing him to exercise that ability. He is comfortable in his ability as it is, but knows being “better” is never bad. He’s already amazing, but he could make it easier. 

So while he’ll often consult with Vir, about the current animals, slipping through the void to witness something personally, and collaborating on its studies, he also greatly enjoys digging back through the knowlege-history-time of the world, and bringing back things humanity never knew it had forgotten, or perhaps never knew at all.

This of course also leaves out all the not-so-mythological animal primers he has written. While many believe them to be fictional recountings, those who know, know. He has a subtle way of marking which entries in the books do and don’t actually exist, and it would shock most of humanity to learn of all the things they never saw living right under their noses.

Pfffft I saw Ace, Flint and Shine all three made it into both bog and small energy. Can I ask why? XD

Ace can really pull BDE when acting authoratative, be it as full on Judge, or just Head of Household/Camp. Buuut he can also be a petulant child so.

Flint is similar, he can be smooth and charming and suave or he can be the most obnoxious asshole ever.

Shine has charisma for days, but is also kinda a huge baby about actual emotions and can turn into a real jerk about it which is SDE all the way.

So I was looking back through things and realized I had re-done an A-Z that already existed (Aurum). It was somehow still blank in my to-do pile despite being already completed and I did it without checking. I was comparing and the differences are a lot less than I expected, but still interesting. Nice to know I didn’t completely contradict myself lmao.

All this to ask, would anyone like to see the more recent version for comparison? They are decently long posts, and it isn’t exactly new information.

Calico SFW A-Z

Alignment :: What would be their D&D alignment? How might it come into play?

True Neutral. Cali is warm and comforting until he isn't. He can come off very detached and at times cold. This is simply him viewing the world from a very distant knowing lens. He is constant aware of things most will never know and this gives him a different view of people and events.

Beverage :: What do they most like to drink, and why?

Tea. So many blends of tea. He makes his own herbal blends. Tends to go for spicier floral blends.

Co-Habitate :: Do they live with anyone? What’s “need to know” before moving in?

Lives with his brother, though that can be take somewhat loosely as Shine tends to stay out often. It can be odd living with someone who can anticipate their needs before they do. Otherwise Cali is an easy, reliable, affable, roommate.

Decor :: What kind of home do they keep? Are there any defining details?

Very bohemian and homey. There is a note of esoterica running through every space, but it is also almost universally welcoming and comforting. 

Escape :: What do they do to destress? How successful is it?

Sips his tea and meditates. Might do a couple readings to verify what he already knows. Sometimes seeks companionship as he finds other living people comforting. He knows what works for him.

Fluff :: What hits their soft spot? Does anything them into emotional goo?

Innocence, genuine kindness, the push and pull of people interacting. Cali delights in how people interact with each other and the world.

Grudge :: How bad does an insult go over? Do they hold a grudge long?

While he never forgets anything, he doesn't particularly hold any grudges or anger. He doesn't consider it worth it.

Hobby :: What’s something they do for fun that might be surprising?

He enjoys studying and writing about rare and forgotten animals. 

Insomnia :: What’s their sleeping schedule like? Snorer? Sound sleeper?

Cali maintains a regular, consistent sleep cycle. He sleeps soundly and comfortably but remains next to impossible to sneak up on.

Jaded :: Do they buy into the “happily ever after” ideal? What’s their standard?

He absolutely believes, though perhaps not for himself. One of the few things if which he is uncertain. He has however seen it in others and is happy to guide anyone who would ask. Though he may be annoyingly vague about it.

Kin :: What’s their role among their relations? Do they consider others family?

He acts as an impartial advisor to most everyone, as well as a trusted confidant. He is an excellent secret keeper and gives guidance based on the outcome wanted.

Law :: What do they think about abiding rules? Are they selective about it?

Cali obeys the laws of nature, mostly. Anything else is irrelevant. He doesn't go out his way to break them, exists within them comfortably for the most part, but also doesn't especially acknowledge them, and simply does as he will regardless.

Magic :: In a magic series or not, are they accepting, or is each instance a shock?

While as with all monsters, Calico is connected to magic, his connection to both his own magic and the magics of the worlds is greater than most can fathom.

Network :: Are they connected to the people? How much do they reach out to others?

Connections are easy for Cali. He forms them quickly and strongly. He's easy to love and people get attached easily. He has a strong network of assorted people in assorted roles, that are dedicated to him. He is careful not to take advantage.

Offspring :: What kind of parent would they be? Would they prefer one, or multiple?

While Calico likes children, they are not a priority for him exactly. He'd be a decent enough parent, if perhaps a bit too relaxed.

Pistol :: Is this character skilled with a weapon? What’s their opinion of violence?

Extremely magically talented, Cal can shut down most fights quite quickly. At least, on the off chance he hasn't diffused it before it can even begin.

Question :: How often do they feel doubt? What topics are they defensive about?

Whether or not Calico is even capable of feeling doubt is a question he merely smiles at.

Reminder :: How are they at remembering daily needs? What falls through the cracks?

He has routines, though he doesn't mind breaking them too much. He always makes sure his needs, basic or complex, are metregardless.

Sing :: Do they like music? Do they listen often/sing/hum/play songs in their head?

He enjoys music, prefers soothing instrumentals to music with vocals. His favorite however is the natural sounds of the world.

Touch :: How do they handle contact? Is their personal bubble big?

Calico is an extremely tactile, but equally mindful person. He is content to keep his distance if asked or needed, but is equally if not more happy to drape himself around, over, and upon whoever he is interacting with.

Upcoming :: How much do they think of the future? Do they make long-term plans?

Cali easily slips into the far reaches of reality. He is distantly aware of a thousand futures all at once. It would be easy to get lost if he focused on any, so he doesn't.

Vice :: What bad habits do they have? Is there something they would be ashamed of?

He doesn't have anything he is ashamed of, and doesn't personally consider any of what he does as 'vices'. He does tend to smoke (clove, specifically) and some would count that.

Wardrobe :: What’s their fashion style? Do they have any staple pieces?

Vintage florals, flow fabrics, lots of jewelry and scarves. Very bohemian amd 'witchy'. Completely disregards gender norms

X-Ray :: How’s their health? Any problem areas? Do they take care of themselves?

A solid constitution and strong magic means he's generally healthy anyway, but he also takes good care of himself. He enjoys his habits so it isn't a chore to him.

Yack :: What’s their favorite thing to talk about? What do they go on about?

Life. The universe. Truth. Philosophy. He also enjoys talking about the person he's talking to. His abilities means he is able to 'read' into them easily. He wants them to talk about themself, and he'll chime in with progressively deeper insights.

Zodiac :: What’s their astro sign? Does it fit? What would you pick, if it’s unknown?

Pisces. It’s a pretty solid fit.

Of the group who has the best sense of direction and who couldn't find their way out of a paper sack?

Scout makes maps. He only gets lost if he wants to.

Coyote can’t read a map to save his life but somehow always ends up where he wanted regardless.

Piper is that guy who would let his GPS lead him off a cliff.

Flint has no clue, he just wanders until he ends up somewhere.

Tender somehow always knows where South East is. Specifically and exclusively South East.

Aurum has a flawless sense of direction and still somehow gets lost.

Viridis has a flawless sense of Aurum.

Shuffle knows the places he frequents and that’s it.

Archi wouldn’t know up from down without gravity.

Chisel can point you in any direction, but if you ask “what direction is that” he can’t answer.

Cirrus either knows exactly where he is and where to go, or has no idea at all. 

Doc knows how to find what direction he needs.

Calico is never lost. Ever. Even when he is.
