Here he is, Mer-Moon from Galaxies, Lost in Ice! This took forever to get just right, between the creepvine (why did I think that was a good idea) and the shelf coral (I love the colors of it, I hated doing it) to trying to pick colors and redesigning Moon's head. In the context, Moon's head fin does glow (when he wants it to). I wanted to leave it optional on the coloring though. Moon has a large crescent shaped scar! ... on the other side of his face that I will eventually draw (one of these days). Compared to where he started, he looks pretty awesome now!!! Thiw was fun to work on, even if I frustrated myself (lost layers several times, crossed layers on accident, lots of "which layer is that dot on" and "why did I do it this way". The metal nib on my Cintiq definitely made this WAY easier, I spent way less time stressing about how badly I was wearing down the nib and wondering about replacing it and all that.

(Posting the lineart versions with transparent background and optional shading here too. I missed the deadline for the coloring book to officially submit it there, but I wanted it to still be available for people that wanted it! If you do color it, please just tag me as the original artist, I'd be excited to see some people's interpretations!)

the concept for this is "what if voltron aliens were like, a little bit less humanoid." Galra (and alteans, not pictured) get to be the most humanoid because theyre main characters lol

[ID: various voltron aliens redesigned to remove many of their humanoid features. The Galra are largely unchanged; the only difference is that they have six limbs. Keith is demonstrating standing on four limbs; he looks not unlike a centaur, although the "horse" part is just a continuation of his body, not a horse (and is also the same color as his human skin, because it is human skin. sorry not sorry). Kolivan is demonstrating standing on two limbs, and towers over everyone else. Krolia is demonstrating standing on all six limbs, which looks uncomfortable but possible.

There is also an example of an Olkari; whose face is unchanged but now is built similar to a praying mantis; a Puigian, who retains the approximate locations of the face markings and horns but looks more like some kind of deer creature; an Arusian, which is built like a snail; and a mer alien, which now looks like a fish with hands and antennae. The Olkari is based on Ryner, and the mer alien is Plaxum. End ID.]

DCA Subnautica Au References: Y/N

yes, I know I said the next thing I'd post about the AU was the fic itself (edit: which is linked in my bio), but I figured this might be good information

So, the little backstory for Y/N:

They were originally an archivist (and are just generally a huge nerd). On one occasion they got sent to a new colony to, you guessed it! Archive!! The ship never made it to its destination though, and an emergency landing had to be made on a nearby unoccupied planet. It was kinda chaos until Y/N piped up and explained the few things they knew about both the planet and surviving with minimal technology. This calmed the panic and rescue was eventually received with no losses.

This happened 3 more times before Y/N decided they should probably learn more about survival and crashes. They ended up being really good at it, and even got a “job” with Alterra (they need to pay off the debt) as a “survival expert”. Crew like to keep them around as a lucky charm, so if a crash does happen, everyone should get off Scott-free, but passengers aren’t too fond of someone who’s been in so many crashes coming aboard the same ship as them.

And that’s what they were doing on the Aurora.

Sleep demon Grian

grian is a sleep demon, existing in the dreamscape, able to manipulate dreams and thriving on giving people nightmares. he meets scar in a dream, immediately intrigued and amused by his reactions, and he keeps coming back to him. scar, despite all the nightmares being thrown at him, catches a glimpse of his perpetrator, and grows curious in turn. they start talking, everything eventually culminating into a ritual and a summonning circle. grian, in the waking world, needs to learn how to exist somewhere where he can get actually hurt, and come to terms with the fact that he has locked away memories and trauma.

more scared and overwhelmed by the second, grian gets a bodyguard. that bodyguard is scar. things continue to escalate though, and by the time ari calls a break in her career, everything's irreparably breaking down around grian.

(If it wasn't clear yet, this is one very dark, very heavy, very human story. There's love and so, so, so much despair. Things go wrong and then worse.)

Sure. I imagine a lot of other Mer in little villages and stuff are terrified of Phantom, thinking hes an evil monster or spirit coming to devour thier souls or something.

Maybe the batfam create a translation device that let's them speak with the mers and they try to keep them away from the "Oceans Bride" or whatever they're calling him. Lots of brave people have tried to approach, fight or even flirt with the mysterious mer only to become afflicted with curses...which turn out to be normal explainable things completely unrelated to Phantom. Except that one guy who fought Phantom, but that was because of Phantoms poison/paralytic agent he produces.

Basically the poor mer is a pariah because of a mutation. They feel for him.

Fish!!! Been absolutely loving Leviathan’s Song by BlondeFromHell and The Horizon and the Little Star by an anonymous writer on ao3. Both are incredible fics, and I had to do my take on a leviathan Sun and Moon uwu. These guys are bio-mechanical, and made to be guards and caretakers for the Sea Dragon Emperor and her young by the Architects. Okay so messy coloring BUT I just wanted to yeet this brain rot into existence. I suck at bodies, but these two are supposed to be leviathan class as far as Length goes, though torso and head area is just slightly bigger than average human. Yes, it's a subnautica AU, it actually takes place around Sector Zero for the ice, so it's technically a Subnautica: Below Zero AU, but I'm not going to be pendatic about that, more info below the cut!

Do you know... how hard it is... to make something that's recognizeable as both alien... AND a mermaid? because... this was difficult. (why yes, I did get inspired for Moon's un-injured side by Zoras, I'll finish the injured/scarred side and a front view in a bit. Yes, Sun's rays are all funky sizes and not all the same shape, I did this by hand and tried to do it in like an hour, okay? This paper is thick but it was deteriorating the more layers of color I put on it, so I had to be kinda careful with it.)

Sun and Moon are, in fact, from the same species, but from separate branching "pods". Kinda like you have a group of Sphynx cats and a group of Himalayans--same creature, different breed. Normally, they're territorial, but mostly they can mesh on an individual level, forming their own little families and crossing the genetics and blah blah blah it's all aliens I can make up what I want. Both are on the small size of adult, the largest ones growing up to 100 meters long or longer! These two clock in at about 40 and 38 meters respectively, but they're capable of furling fins and coiling up to be smaller. Sun is much more open and engaging while Moon is much more subdued.

Sun's fins on the rest of him is supposed to be remniscent of a betta fish.

the rest of Moon is more sleek and smooth (except when he's doing a territorial display, at which point, with his spines and fins, he looks more like the lionfish, but blue and luminescent white)

yeah there’s definitely a lot, tropes that are more specific like pet whump, vampires or tiny whump i would LOVEE to see Dew and Anton’s reactions in those situations, but like, vampires and things like that don’t exist in their world so it wouldn’t be possible.

i definitely plan to write and draw a whole bunch of AUs once more characters get introduced, most of them will be oneshots but some might be a bit longer. i have an entire vampire au planned but i can’t really talk about it yet without spoiling major parts of the story.

so yeah, any whump tropes i love but won’t be able to fit into the main story, i’ll probably write an au oneshot about it in the future :) i love putting my ocs in Situations
