Adora analysis "In the Shadow of Mystacor"
The 2018 Netflix Original She-ra and the Princesses of Power is a spinoff from the eighties She-ra and the Princess of Power. However, the newer version is insightful and impactful because the messages about overcoming trauma and abuse elevates it into a thoughtful and meaningful show with realistic characters. Also the new show has more diversity in the cast of characters, voice actors, and writers transforming it with different perspectives.
Our main protagonist is Adora. She is an orphan since birth raised as a Horde Soldier and has never been outside the Horde occupied territory, the Fright Zone. The Rebellion opposes the Horde invasion. In the first episode Adora steals a skiff with Catra, her best friend since childhood. They accidentally end up in the magical Whispering Woods. Adora finds a sword, which changes the entire course of Adora and Catra's meticulously manipulated and controlled life by Shadow Weaver, an abusive “parent figure;” and places them on an unpredictable path. Adora ends up leaving the Horde to join the Rebellion as She-ra and effectively leaves behind Catra.
Adora is complex and psychologically fascinating; her journey is important for abuse victims to see. Due to the impact of abuse it is hard to overcome the psychological manipulation even after escaping the abuser. In particular “In the Shadows of Mystacor” demonstrates how Adora acts when confronted with her abuser and how she overcomes it in this single episode. This character growth is not final, as she will still fall back into her old safety habits and programming but she does learn that her friends-Bow and Glimmer-are not exploiting her for personal gain, as Shadow Weaver was doing. Moreover, Bow and Glimmer care for her even when she shows supposed “weakness,” which was not allowed in the Horde.
Throughout the entire episode of “In the Shadows of Mystacor” Adora is in survival mode, using the resources she was taught in the Horde. She has not slept the entire night because she has to be on guard so she could have a sense of control. That night she is staring at a point in the distance because she thought she saw a shadow and it could have been Shadow Weaver. Seeing shadows is traumatizing as they are all around her and remind her that any of them could be a Shadow Weaver trick. When her friends, who were not worried about a guard, wake up, Adora is defensive and says “someone has to stand guard.” This shows that she is on edge even though others around her believe they are safe. As the Whispering Woods are under the protection of the Rebellion it should be safe. Her body language, such as arms folded against her chest and, when startled, hands in combat position demonstrate her hypervigilance waiting for something to go wrong.
Furthermore, even something as exciting as riding a flying cloud to Mystacor was not enough for her to forget her anxieties. When Bow exclaims, “how it never gets old” she replies “uh, sure, yeah, heh. It was great.” This demonstrates her focusing so much on her anxieties that she can’t appreciate her surroundings at the present moment. Another example is when they are in the steam room and Adora brings her sword (another episode she has a dagger under her pillow) when no one else does. A steam room is supposed to be relaxing and soothing, not somewhere where a battle would occur. Mystacor has a magical protective shield so evil can’t get inside. Although there is no logical basis for Adora to believe there is danger requiring a sword, in actuality, Shadow Weaver is able to break through the enchantments. Thus, Adora is not being paranoid; Shadow Weaver is really pulling the strings for Adora to return to her and the Fright Zone. If something that should be logical defies the odds, how are you supposed to know when you are really in danger? Adora learns to rely on her friends until she can retrain her brain to know true danger and that they can fight it together. The paranoia, hypervigilance, and anxiety, all symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, demonstrate the effects of abuse and how it causes lasting damage.
As shown in the prior paragraph, Adora is still recovering from the trauma while Shadow Weaver knows exactly what to do to slide right back into her head to make things worse. Adora struggles with a sense of self worth outside of what she can do for others. She was raised as the golden child only avoiding harm and getting small rewards of affection if she is at the top of training. In contrast, Catra was the scapegoat; nothing she ever did would get Shadow Weaver’s approval. If Adora did something wrong Catra was blamed and tortured. Consequently, Adora believes that other people are her responsibility if something goes out of her control. Shadow Weaver explicitly says “everything that’s about to happen is your fault, Adora. You’re to blame.” Exactly what she has been told over and over again. What makes it even worse is Shadow Bow says the line. It’s not as effective for Shadow Weaver to say it because Adora is starting to recognize the emotional abuse. However, if a friend (someone you trust) says something it’s easier to believe it is true. Even though Adora knows that it is a shadow and not truly Bow, when you have been told something you already think is true it does not take much to break what little resistance you had to believe it. Shadow Weaver is effective with her manipulations because she knows exactly how her victims think and function.
During this entire episode Adora has been seeing things through the lens of Shadow Weaver. She believes the narrative that everything is her fault. Adora acknowledges that Shadow Weaver “never loved [her]” and “just played twisted mind games.” The hardest thing about emotional abuse is recognizing it. Not only does she recognize it but she rebukes the statement that she is a “cutthroat, ruthless warrior,” and rejects that she could never have a place with her friends or that they are using her for her strength. If her friends were actually using her when she damaged property and freaked out at little things, they would have tossed her out the second she messed up; instead, she was met with only kindness and compassion.
The sword channels Adora’s power, which is tied to her confidence and emotions that are affected by the trauma she experienced. When she is confused about where she belongs she is unable to transform into She-ra. With the line “you have no power over me anymore” her sword once again works and transforms into a shield with raw energy and Adora defeats Shadow Weaver and her abuse. What is particularly interesting is what the shield represents. A shield represents defense whereas a sword is violent. Adora has been prone to using a sword but her magic is channeled into something safe and protective. She believes that her friends care about her and in turn she cares about them. If they are in danger she will protect them. Adora chooses her own ideals and values that she will protect her home planet Etheria. Before, Adora might have thought her friends were using her but now she knows that they care about her. After this episode Adora is able to pick up the subtlety of the emotional abuse and is harder to control.
Undoubtedly this show has merit beyond what might seem as just a children’s cartoon. The depiction of abuse and anxiety is realistic. Not only does it show physical abuse by way of the scapegoat, Catra, but it shows the emotional harm of being the golden child. Both scenarios are just as damaging. It’s important to recognize that once abused it takes time to unlearn the unhealthy patterns and She-ra depicts a real journey of hard work and healing. Abuse should only be treated with kindness and compassion, something that was not previously given to victims, so that they can learn good patterns instead of harmful ones.
Finally, this show is relevant and meaningful to me because of the diverse character representation. In today’s society rights are being taken away, from book bannings to new legislation against women and LGBTQ+ community, which is why this show is more important than ever. She-Ra is groundbreaking with respect to its diversity of main characters having different: ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, body type, and neurodivergence. In 2014, the Legend of Korra paved the way in children’s entertainment for this groundbreaking show by having two female bisexual characters, without kissing, demonstrate romantic affection for each other. In 2020, She-ra broke ground with the two main characters Catra and Adora kissing in the finale in a child’s cartoon showing that it’s not inappropriate for kids to see this romantic display. What is so magical about the show is that it is not set in a white cis-heteronormative world. Diversity is a natural part of their world where no attention is paid to the differences and no one blinks twice. Even villains such as Shadow Weaver routinely without fail use they/them pronouns. This goes to show how easy it is to understand and use the proper pronouns. Adora means a lot to me and I hope people can see the complexity in her as they can see in Catra.

I wonder if like... you watched season one and season five together, you could find a parallel for every major Catradora moment?
1x01: "Hey Adora" while reaching for Adora in the hole // 5x13: Catra reaching for Adora begging her to live
1x02: Catra trying to protect Adora from Shadow Weaver; Adora taking Catra's hand and asking her to defect with her; Catra disappearing in the smoke // 5x03: Catra trying to protect Adora from Horde Prime; 5x06: Catra taking Adora's hand and asking her to stay; 5x11: Catra disappearing when Melog makes her invisible
1x03-07: No really big Moments aside from the confrontation in Salineas
1x08: Catra falling off the cliff and Adora rescues her // 5x05: Catra almost falling off the ledge but Adora catches her. Also Princess Prom and the implication in Adora's dream in 5x13 that they're going to another Princess Prom
1x09: Catra giving the sword back and wincing away when Adora transforms // 5x06: Catra watching Adora transform in absolute awe
1x10: No major Moments
1x11: PROMISE // 5x05: Adora promising to bring Catra home; 5x12: Catra saying she promised to look out for Adora; 5x03: the parallels between the last memory Catra sees, which is what ultimately drives her to leaving Adora in the Castle vs. Catra seeing their younger selves on Prime's ship and bby!Adora reminding her that she would always be her friend.
1x12: No major Moments
1x13: Their battle in Bright Moon // 5x05: Their fight on Horde Prime's ship
I know I'm generalizing and skipping over things a bit (for example, a point could be made about Adora stealing a skiff to cheer Catra up and Catra challenging Adora to a race to cheer her up), but my point is jesus christ this show is so well thought out I'm crying a little

Summary so far of my She-Ra Lonnie: Lonnie x Adora AU
Because I can't stop thinking about it.
1.) The set up remains mostly the same. Lonnie, Adora, Kyle, Rogelio and Catra are in the same Horde squad. Lonnie and Adora are at the top of their squad--AND THEY'RE GIRLFRIENDS W O W! Adora gets promoted to Force Captain by Shadow Weaver, she remains Shadow Weaver's 'favorite'. Lonnie suggests they go on a joyride to celebrate, before her Force Captain duties tie her down. They skiff out to the Whispering Woods, but Lonnie is the one knocked off. She finds the Sword and sees the visions. Adora quickly finds her and they head back to the Fright Zone.
2.) Catra, the snitch and cadet no one likes because she's sour and mean, sees them return after hours and decides to keep an eye on them. Lonnie continues to have visions of the Sword and tries to sneak out to find it again. Adora catches her, but Lonnie doesn't want her to get caught and lose her promotion, so she stays behind.
Queue the events of the first episode!! Lonnie runs into Bow and Glimmer, they all get lost together, Lonnie transforms into She-Ra, they get to Thaymor, wow parties! WOW HORSES!
3.) Thaymor is attacked by the Horde. When Lonnie didn't return, Adora organized a force to come find her assuming she'd run into trouble in the woods. They find her and begin decimating the village. Changed by her new friends and new She-Ra form, she tells Adora what the Horde has been doing, that they have to go and offers for Adora to come with her.
Confused, but not ignorant to the destruction around her, Adora reaches for Lonnie's hand, hesitant but trusting her. That's when the rest of the Horde forces swarm in and jar them apart. Lonnie must fight them off as She-Ra and the retreating forces take Adora with them.
4.) Without a home now, and afraid for what might happen to Adora, Lonnie is consoled by Bow and Glimmer who give her a home in Bright Moon and help her learn how to become She-Ra. They begin working together to reconstruct the Princess Alliance, but from there the story changes. Adora is tasked to find Lonnie and bring her back to the Fright Zone. She is partnered with Force Captain Scorpia, and while Adora doesn't reveal that she was about to mutiny, she does bond with Scorpia. Trusting her with most other things.
5.) In Salineas, they track the BFS down and while her friends fight off the incoming Horde ship, Adora manages to corner Lonnie at the Sea Gate. Initially thinking Adora is trying to attack, Lonnie is surprised when Adora breaks down. As it turns out, she's been afraid for her life since returning to the Fright Zone. SW and Hordak are piling on responsibilities. She WANTED to go with Lonnie. She doesn't want to hurt people anymore. But it's too late, she's trapped. Before Lonnie can offer a solution, Adora and Scorpia’s ship is blown up and Adora retreats.
The BFS celebrates a Horde defeat AND a new member of the Alliance in Mermista. But Lonnie mourns the loss of her gf.
5.) Adora begins reconnaissance in the Fright Zone. Realizing she may be trapped for good, the only way she can think to help Lonnie is from the inside. So she begins to act as a double agent. Spying on Hordak and SW, sending secret code to Bow (who at first doesn't know who is hacking his commpad) to alert them of Horde attacks.
6.) Thanks to Adora’s intelligence, the Rebellion is able to gain significant ground against the Horde. This allows tensions to fall a bit and Lonnie bonds more with Bow and Glimmer. Glimmer in particular, Lonnie takes a shine to. The Princess is fierce and determined and brash--A good sparring partner and REALLY pretty. Lonnie sort of starts to crush on the Princess. She is torn, but considering the circumstsnces and the more time that passes between seeing Adora at Salineas, the more Lonnie thinks maybe she shouldn’t feel guilty about moving on.
7.) Queue Princess Prom. On the Horde side, Adora manipulates Scorpia into taking her as her plus one, knowing that Lonnie will be there and it will be an opportune time to tell her that she’s been the spy on the inside. Unfortunately, for Adora, Catra has been suspicious of her activity for a while and is planning on using the event to either catch her red handed, or cause mayhem and kidnap one or more of the Princesses for leverage so that SHE can gain some clout with Shadow Weaver.
Bow and Perfuma still go together leaving Glimmer to go with Lonnie, who experiences a significant amount of gay panic. While Glimmer mourns the potential loss of her only friend, Lonnie tries to comfort her--knowing the guilt of abandoning a loved one all too well. And that’s when said loved one appears. Adora and Scorpia are at the door. Glimmer immediately approaches Frosta to inform her that these are Horde Soldiers. But while Lonnie is a bit concerned about Scorpia, she knows she needs to get Adora alone.
Sending Glimmer to watch Scorpia, Lonnie follows Adora through the crowd into a hidden away hall. There they are not only able to reunite a bit passionately (👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩) but Adora reveals that she’s been the one sending information to Bow’s commpad. Once again, Lonnie asks Adora to come with her and leave the Horde, but this time Adora refuses; she assures Lonnie she can be more help from the inside. Lonnie tries to convince her that the danger of being caught outweighs whatever information she can sneak them, but Adora remains firm and stubborn.
Unfortunately, as both of them were distracted with one another, Catra and her secret group of Rogelio, Kyle and Scorpia attack. They escape with Bow and Glimmer and Adora is quickly forced to join them to maintain the charade. She spars with Lonnie and takes the sword, but reassures her she’ll watch out for her friends before escaping on Scorpia’s ship with the rest.
Defeated, and confused, Lonnie can only watch as everyone disappears.
8.) “No Princess Left Behind” rolls out much the same way on the Rebellion side. As for inside the Horde. Bow is imprisoned, and Glimmer is sent to the Black Garnet Chamber. Catra is given the credit for the capture but Adora insists on guarding the prisoner both to maintain her guise of loyalty to the Horde, and in order to fulfill her promise to watch out for Lonnie’s friends until she can rescue them.
Shadow Weaver agrees only after discussing the situation with Catra unbeknownst to Adora, this is the ultimate test. Shadow Weaver is suspicious of her loyalty and plans to take Adora out once and for all if she sees weakness. Adora ends up speaking with Glimmer, who is at first absolutely feral, attempting to escape her bonds and attack Adora. When she can’t and she weakens, Adora dares to ask her how Lonnie is doing in the Rebellion. Confused by the clear concern in the Horde Soldier’s voice, Glimmer answers truthfully and this is how she learns that not only was Adora previously Lonnie’s teammate and partner, but has been helping them all along. While Glimmer is trapped for days, Adora does what she can to sneak her food and water and they continue to talk. By the time the Princess Alliance comes to rescue Bow and Glimmer, the Princess knows they can’t leave Adora behind...
9.) Lonnie and the others run into trouble trying to free Glimmer. Alarms are blaring, Catra is leading an assault against the invaders. Shadow Weaver corners Adora, knowing she is now a traitor. She straps Adora down and begins to wipe her mind. She is still a valuable asset and as long as she forgets her loyalty to Lonnie, they can in fact USE her as a weapon against She-Ra. Glimmer, enraged, and desperate to help her new ‘friend’, breaks free of her bonds and decks Shadow Weaver. She frees Adora who is almost as shocked as Glimmer is at the rescue. They flee together, but not before Adora retrieves the sword.
10.) The two run into Lonnie and the others and Adora gives her the sword, allowing her to transform into She-Ra and clear the way out of the Fright Zone.
In terms of plot, I’m a bit shaky from here on out at this point. Entrapta probably still gets left behind accidentally and Catra still leads the Battle of Bright Moon, Glimmer still must deal with glitches. The main difference is that Adora escapes with them and is unable to work as a spy. She is more than grateful to have joined her girlfriend on the right side of the war, but also lowkey crushed on Glimmer and surprise this is a Glimmadoralonnie ot3 AU, boom gotcha.
Anyway! :))) More later!

i want to see you, dressed all in white
a short catradora oneshot, set at the time of adora's future vision. requested by @nozomijoestar. read on ao3.
Catra could not believe she was wearing shoes for this. It was such a strange experience, hearing the click clack of heels coming from her feet as she walked, but alas! Such was the life of an ambassador of Brightmoon.
And, she thought privately, the life of the wife of She-Ra. Hopefully. If everything went well tonight. She subtly traced the outline of the ring in her pants pocket. The box itself would have been too big and clunky to fix in her pocket, so Glimmer had helped her out and given her a tiny leather pouch to hold it in.
“If she finds the pouch, just say it contains important ambassador information like…IDs!” Glimmer had suggested.
Catra had raised an eyebrow. “We need IDs for Princess Prom?”
“Well no, but…” It was Glimmer’s turn to raise her eyebrows. “You and Adora did miss half the planning meeting, so how would either of you know?”
Catra had smirked. “We were…busy.”
She gave her a decidedly unqueenly shove. “Of course you were, Horde Scum.” Then Glimmer pulled her into a hug. “I’m so happy for you both. Adora’s gonna say yes immediately.” Catra wasn’t worried about her saying no; she knew that Adora loved her more than anything, and they’d been talking about marriage for a while now. No, she was worried that somehow something would go wrong and it wouldn’t be perfect. Adora was as amazing as the moons and the stars—she deserved perfect.
“Catra? Catra!”
She snapped back to the present. Adora was waving her hand in front of her face, grinning. Even at age twenty-seven, she still hadn’t lost the adorable, dorky look on her face.
“Sorry, zoned out for a sec,” she said, taking Adora’s hand and jumping gracefully down from the skiff. She took a minute to admire how beautiful her girlfriend looked tonight—she looked like a queen in her own right, the tiara sparkling off her golden hair and the white dress making it all too easy for Catra to imagine her walking down a wedding aisle. Her stomach fluttered.
“Are you nervous for your second Princess Prom?” asked Adora; her tone was joking but her eyes softened in a way that made Catra feel instantly safe.
“Not with you by my side,” said Catra, pushing down her nerves and leaning forward to press their foreheads together. “Are you nervous?”
“Not with you by my side,” Adora mimicked, smiling against her lips.
If anyone was definitely nervous, it was Bow and Glimmer. This was the first formal event where they would be introduced as a married couple, and they had spent the whole skiff ride fiddling nervously with their clothes and asking to go over the schedule so often that Catra had asked Bow if he’d switched bodies with Adora.
“You two look amazing,” Adora told them for the seventh time this hour.
“Are you sure the capes don’t look stupid?” asked Glimmer. “I don’t wanna look childish.”
“What if I trip and fall on it?” Bow worried, toying with the edge of his cape.
“If you do, I will laugh and then kick all the asses of anyone else who laughed,” Catra assured him.
“And I’ll help!” said Adora gleefully, holding up her hand to be high-fived. Catra obliged her.
Glimmer and Bow both took a deep breath in sync. “Thanks, guys,” she said, a real smile spreading across her face.
Bow stuck out his hand. “Best Friend Squad!”
Everyone put their hands in the middle. “Best Friend Squad!” they cheered.
——
The former-Fright-Zone-now-renamed-the-Light-Zone looked absolutely stunning. Scorpia had really outdone herself. Unlike at Frosta’s prom, which had been decorated with gleaming ice sculptures, the ballroom was decorated with smooth, sleek black crystals reminiscent of the Black Garnet, giving the whole room a very sophisticated aura.
“Presenting Queen Glimmer and King Bow of Brightmoon!”
Bow and Glimmer did not, to their credit, trip over their capes or do anything else notably embarrassing. In fact, they were the textbook example of dignified, waving proudly to the crowd as they walked up to the dais, and then bowing low to Scorpia, who immediately jumped down from her throne to greet them.
And then it was their turn.
“Presenting Adora, Princess of Power, and Catra of Brightmoon!”
Catra offered her girlfriend her arm. It was partially an affectionate gesture and partially an effort to make sure she herself didn’t trip—she still wasn’t used to these shoes.
“Your Highness,” Catra said to Scorpia as she bowed.
“Oh, none of that ‘Highness’ crap!” Scorpia chortled, practically bouncing off her throne to envelop the two of them in a tight hug.
“All this stuff is so formal,” she whispered. “I’m so out of my depth.”
“You’re doing amazing,” Adora promised her.
The next hour or so was filled with so many boring conversations and introductions. It seemed like every diplomat and ambassador in Etheria wanted to talk to her and Adora. It was really cute when little kids came up asking for She-Ra autographs, but if Catra had to hear about the rising fish prices in Salineas one more time, she was going to be homicidal.
Despite coming as each other’s dates, Catra and Adora had to split up in order to divide and conquer all of their social obligations, a strategy that Bow and Glimmer had also adopted. That didn’t stop Catra from throwing as many longing looks at Adora from across the ballroom as physically possible.
She tried to seek shelter with Double Trouble, who would definitely not force her to ruminate on the state of “today’s youth”—a conversation that withered old advisers seemed to love—but their need to be the center of attention kept also drawing attention to Catra. This made it particularly hard to accomplish her goal of “only talking to people she wanted to talk to”. Glimmer, surrounded by a group of Mystacor sorcerers, gave her an arm squeeze in solidarity as she passed by.
Eventually she managed to escape yet another drab discussion of the pros and cons of a trade alliance between the Crimson Waste and the Kingdom of Snows under the premise of greeting Frosta. She was able to enjoy the beginning of a nice banter/advice session concerning Frosta’s love life before the princess was preoccupied with an adviser asking her opinion on intra-kingdom matters.
“I’m surprised you haven’t taken those off yet,” Adora said behind her, making her jump. She gestured down at the cursed shoes.
“I wish,” Catra grimaced, taking the cup of punch her girlfriend offered. “I was afraid someone would throw a fit.”
Adora wrapped an arm around her shoulders, which Catra leaned into gratefully. “Is it that advisor over there?” she whispered in her ear, subtly turning Catra’s head so she can see who she meant. “The one with an angry look on his face? Are you afraid of him?”
She snickered. “What, did you have to hear his monologue about decorum too?”
“He even made a comment about ‘last time’,” Adora told her, laughing under her breath. “A very pointed remark about breaking tradition.”
“Ooh, insulting She-Ra, is he? I’ll kick his ass.”
“My hero.”
Catra turned to face her fully, placing one hand on Adora’s hip. “You know it,” she murmured, leaning forward to press their lips together.
“Adora!”
Catra pulled back, groaning under her breath, as they both turned to see Perfuma waving at them. The flower princess held up her own cup and gestured at a group of stern-looking Plumerians. Adora pecked her cheek before hurrying off again.
At this point, Catra was beginning to get worried that she wouldn’t ever get the chance to be alone with Adora. She once again traced the outline of the ring pouch in her pocket, biting her lip.
Then, to her immense relief, music started playing. She grinned. It was time for the real party to start.
Adora easily found her on the dance floor. Catra leaned eagerly into her warm touch, let herself be rooted in her relaxed blue eyes. “Will you be my dance partner?” asked Adora teasingly.
Catra pretended to think it over. “Hmm, I don’t know. Are you any good at it?”
Adora winked. “Nope.”
Catra blew her a kiss, and then the dance started, everyone moving in sync. Adora kept her eyes fixed on her girlfriend, her steps steady and confident despite her previously stated lack of talent. “I love you,” she murmured.
“I love you too,” she murmured back. “Always have, always will.”
The movements of the dance pulled them closer, the tempo slowing down. Adora used this opportunity to cup her face and kiss her firmly—finally—before the pace of the music picked back up again and everyone switched partners.
The carefully-choreographed switch in the dance pushed her and Glimmer together, a move that made the both of them grin easily. Things really had changed since the last Princess Prom, Catra thought to herself.
“Do you have a specific plan?” asked Glimmer, nodding almost imperceptibly at her pocket.
Catra nodded. “I just need a way to get a moment alone with Adora.”
Glimmer winked at her. “I can do that.”
Then she was passed off to Mermista, who she hadn’t seen yet that evening. “Heard you knocked up,” said Catra in lieu of a greeting.
Mermista twirled her, a lazy smirk sliding across her face. “Yeah, just a little baby barnacle growing, nothing to see here.”
“Congrats,” Catra told her genuinely. Mermista would never be her best friend—that was reserved for Adora, and Glimmer and Bow—but she had the deepest respect for her, and they got along wonderfully.
A slight blush drifted over her cheeks. The queen had never been good at accepting compliments—one of the many things they had in common. “Bow told me,” she said, “so like, congrats to you too.”
Catra rolled her eyes, but there was no malice behind it. “What, does the entire Princess Alliance know?”
“Probably,” drawled Mermista, and then Catra spun her one last time before they parted ways.
“Catra!” Scorpia greeted her with just as much enthusiasm as before. “I heard the news! How can I help?”
As they began the waltz, Catra mulled it over. “Actually,” she said, her eyes lighting up, “I do have a request.”
——
“Greetings, Princess Prom guests!” Perfuma said in a trill, speaking into the microphone. “I hope you all enjoyed your first dance of the night! Now we will have a live performance by our beloved host, Princess Scorpia!”
The crowd cheered wildly. Scorpia stepped onto the stage, looking radiant and sure of herself under the spotlights. She tapped the microphone once to test it, before she began to hum the opening notes of a ballad.
Scorpia’s song wafted through the ballroom, filling the air. Perfuma sat behind her, strumming a huge string instrument made of wood and occasionally providing backup vocals.
Catra and Adora swayed together on the dance floor, saying nothing, just enjoying each other’s presence. Catra spun her around slowly as Scorpia crooned, occasionally pressing a light kiss to her skin as she drew her closer. Adora, in turn, just watched her, a soft look on her face.
After Scorpia finished her first song of the night, everyone cheered, clapping their hands and whistling in approval. The princess flushed a deep crimson, exchanging a delighted look with Perfuma over her shoulder. A shout of “Encore! Encore!” started up.
Catra took Adora’s hand. “Let’s sneak out for a bit,” she whispered. “Everyone’s entranced by Scorpia’s singing, so we won’t be missed.”
The gleam in Adora’s eyes was ever so familiar, a look that she hadn’t lost even as she grew older. “Lead the way,” she whispered back.
They snuck out through one of the many hallways branching out from the ballroom. The hallways were well lit and decorated similarly to the ballroom; it looked so different from the hallways they’d once scampered through as kids.
But they raced just the same, hand in hand, giggling as they chased each other. Catra mussed up Adora’s hair, cackling as her girlfriend playfully pulled her into a headlock. Their outfits were thoroughly disheveled by the time they reached the ladder, but Catra didn’t care.
“Do you recognize where we are?” she asked.
Adora touched the rail of the ladder. “Of course,” she said, returning Catra’s grin. “I’d recognize this place in my sleep, no matter how many times the walls are repainted.”
Catra kicked off her shoes, sighing with relief when the pads of her feet touched ground again. “Follow me, then.” She hoisted herself up onto the first rung of the ladder, and began to climb.
“Not fair!” shouted Adora below her. “I’m wearing a dress and you’re not!” But she heard her feet touch the ladder rungs anyway.
Catra offered Adora her hand on the top rung, which she took gratefully. The two of them stood together on the platform, in the exact spot where they’d spent so many hours as children. Catra inhaled, breathing in Adora’s sweet, familiar scent.
Adora stared out over the former Fright Zone, still wrapped around Catra. “The Light Zone is a good name,” she said finally.
Catra purred softly as she ran a hand through her hair. “It’s so much nicer now,” she marveled. “Scorpia did so well.”
Adora turned to look at her. “So did we,” she said, cupping her cheek. “We’ve rebuilt so much since the war ended seven years ago.”
Catra picked up on the double meaning of her words. “We have,” she said, pressing their foreheads together and smiling against her lips. Her heart pounded in her throat. This was the perfect moment.
Catra pulled back, just far enough to give her space to kneel. Quickly, she rehearsed her speech in her mind, She reached into her pocket and pulled the ring free from the leather pouch.
She began, “Hey, Adora—”
“Will you marry me?” blurted out Adora.
Catra’s jaw dropped. For a minute, she said nothing.
“I mean, you—you can say no,” Adora said hurriedly, clearly taking her silence as a bad sign. “I didn’t plan out an elaborate proposal or anything, I don’t even have a ring, but—”
“I have a ring!” said Catra, still shocked.
It was Adora’s turn to gape at her. “You—What?”
A grin split Catra ear to ear. “Yes, you idiot!” she exclaimed. “I was going to propose to you tonight—right now, actually! Glimmer and I have been planning this for months!”
Adora almost fell over laughing, clutching her stomach. “Wow,” she said, breathless, “we make quite a pair.”
“We do,” said Catra, throwing her arms around her neck and kissing her passionately.
“I love you,” Adora told her, her words slightly muffled against her lips.
Catra got down on one knee and held out the ring in her palm for real. “Adora,” she said, ignoring the happy tears that pricked the corner of her eyes, “will you marry me?”
Adora knelt down so they were level. “Yes,” she breathed out. “A million times, yes.”

season one of she-ra rated by catradora content
the sword part 1: right off the bat we find out just what adora’s all about. she’s a so called goody two shoes but she’ll lie to authority to protect catra.... ok lesbian lmao. but then we meet catra and she’s like “hey adora ;) how’s it hanging?” and we get it. we completely get it. oh my god. everything from the way catra talks to the way she laughs. adora never stood a chance :( we get a classic locker room flirting scene where catra teases adora and adora pretends she’s above all that only to be like hey cat gf is that a MOUSE which is very rude :( don’t scare ur cat gf or she will become evil :( oh wait. anyway.... their flirting gets cut short because homophobia walks in and separates them :/ before that tho she praises adora. adora who loves her gf so much ignores shadow weaver’s praise and says “catra did so good tho <3” and puts her arm around catra which pisses off the only homophobe in etheria. adora doesn’t really want to follow shadow weaver because she just wants to be with catra, and she even argues with shadow weaver about bringing catra onto the field with her. but she loses the argument because shadow weaver fucking sucks and has no idea how to be chill :/ catra finds adora after that and greets adora the way all gals greet their pals. by... pouncing on her waist. ok lol. catra is so proud of her gf getting promoted and says baby i love you <3 baby when are we leaving <3 except adora says catra’s not allowed to come :( so cat gf gets sad and runs to the roof. in response, adora gets a literal Grappling Hook to chase after her. adora doesn’t want her gf to be sad so she steals a skiff and they go on a date <3 but they’re so obsessed with control and play fighting with each other that adora falls off the skiff and finds out she’s like. god with a sword. i mean she-ra. uh, so adora fake wakes up in a dream and is like catra? :( because catra is the only thing she ever looks for when she wakes up (yes i am clowning. of course i know catra was the only person she was with but shhhh), and then she wakes up for real and catra is straddling her waist, which... ok. catra worries about her gf maybe being brain damaged so they cut their date short and go back to the fright zone. they go to sleep, and have their nightly sleepover, which means they sleep in the same bed :) even tho catra’s own bed is already on top of adora’s :) superb :) anyway adora dreams about her lesbian sword and wakes up scared. she smiles when she sees catra sleeping soundly in her bed however because uwu cat gf go zzzzz. adora gets out of bed which catra IMMEDIATELY senses because she opens her eyes right after and follows adora. because uh.... their friendship is just that lit and strong. catra is worried and wants to follow her gf to find this cool lesbian sword she keeps talking about, but adora makes perhaps one of the worst calls ever and tells catra to stay behind because she doesn’t want to get catra in trouble :( which is like, she has good intentions and all, but you should always bring your gymnast cat gf along when u look for sick ass gay swords. adora would know that if she wasn’t raised by the literal embodiment of gay oppression. oh well. guess they’re gonna have to fight each other for five seasons to figure it out. 9.5/10 because we got so much content all literally in the first ep. it’s like hey look they’re in love and they’re girlfriends who touch each other way too much. and we’re like noelle that’s really cool! will we get more gf content? and noelle said yes but also you’ve got a big storm coming! and it’s going to kill you!
the sword part 2: against adora’s wishes, catra gets in trouble for adora’s departure, and this makes catra sad bc where did her gf go? :( shadow weaver accuses catra of knowing where adora is because despite her raging homophobia she still knows that adora wouldn’t go anywhere without telling catra. and she’s right but just because she’s right doesn’t mean i have to like her. anyway... catra gets sent to bring adora back to the fright zone, and even tho shadow weaver threatens her in scary horrid ways catra is only happy to see adora again and once again pins her to the ground with her knees on adora’s.... yea........ and she’s happy bc she has a tank :) good for u catra we all love and cherish you <3333 anyway catra makes fun of adora because she thought adora got captured which... technically true but also not but also! catra sees a flower in adora’s hair which she takes to mean that adora cheated on her :( wtf :( and adora says no baby :( no i didn’t cheat on u :( and catra is like. ok fine. let’s go back to the horde. and adora says baby we can’t go back to the horde :( did u know that they were evil? im woke now. come be woke with me. and catra is like. wait. u just realized the horde sucks? did you not see shadow weaver electrocute me. did you think she did that for gay rights? and adora is like catra baby i didn’t mean it like that :( but it’s too late. it’s all very upsetting and i don’t wanna get into it. essentially catra thinks she can escape shadow weaver’s abuse by fighting the horde from within but adora thinks she can escape shadow weaver’s abuse and the horde’s evil by literally escaping the horde. u can see where both of them are coming from and that’s why it’s so sad :( it’s so fucking sad y’all :( they do their whole. come with me vs stay with me thing,,, and it doesn’t work out. duh it’s like ep 2 why would it work out. catra finds out that adora can use her lesbian sword to turn into a taller lesbian and instead of giving into her gayness and marrying adora right away her internalized homophobia makes her run away :( she thought adora doesn’t care about her anymore because she has new friends and can turn into a giant sword lady :( and it’s all very sad :( 8.5/10
razz: adora’s having trouble turning into she-ra. no one asked, but based on this whole show, it’s because she just broke up with catra and that hit hard :( it’s pretty hard to turn into ur superhero alter ego when you’re yearning. back at the horde, catra is also yearning. she is bitter because everyone is raving about how lit she-ra is and catra is like yeah she-ra is sexy but can we have a discussion about how she-ra breaks your heart. how she-ra makes you cry. how she-ra abandons you for new friends and doesn’t want to be your gf anymore? have we considered that? and everyone is confused because why does catra seem like she knows she-ra so well. didn’t you just meet her catra? and even tho catra is a bitter ex who’s angry and wants revenge she’s still like. in love with adora and wants to protect her. so she acts cool and doesn’t tell anyone that adora is she-ra. even tho lonnie tells catra not to be so feral because “adora’s not here to protect you anymore” catra still wants to protect adora. okay. yes the thought of that does make me wanna cry. what about it. catra goes and lies on their shared adora’s bed. and she sees the teeny drawing of catra and adora on the bed frame. it reminds catra of the break up and she scratches adora’s picture. she regrets it like instantly and starts destroying the bed. and she cries. she like cries real tears what the FUCK. and then SHADOW WEAVER WALKS IN?? rude much?? can’t a girl get some privacy as she mourns a break up with a girl she’s been in love with her whole life but technically never dated for real? 9/10
flowers for she-ra: adora realizes that it’s a pretty bad idea to break up with your girlfriend when you spent your whole life sleeping in the same room/same bed as her and she comes to the Very Shocking realization that she gasp! cannot sleep without catra! wow who would have thought! so she immediately goes on a search for a sleeping partner rebound... who is glimmer (sorry glimmer it’s her first time not having her gf) and she even sleeps at glimmer’s feet the way we saw catra sleep at adora’s feet. really makes you wonder if catra and adora take turns doing that? sleeping at each other’s feet because their internalized homophobia (thanks a lot shadow bitch) prevented them from going a step further and sleeping in each other’s arms... oh well. meanwhile, catra is gloating about being force captain, but she’s also Still protecting adora’s identity as she-ra. and apparently, drawing pictures of she-ra? that she hid from shadow weaver? is that what happened? i can’t tell if she drew that picture or not but the way it looks from the scene she Definitely drew that picture! hello????? anyway, catra’s still crying to anyone that has ears about how her gf dumped her, when really it was kind of a mutual break up that was entirely shadow weaver’s fault even tho she wasn’t there. sigh. i’m bringing this up to a 7/10 because of “it’s just a phase! she’s confused, i’ll bring her back, i swear :(“
the sea gate: “i’ve got something more important to do” and here we see the start of catra literally abandoning all other duties because she would rather go flirt with her enemy gf... she literally hopped onto she-ra’s sword.... she insult her gf....... she brag to her gf about achievement.... but she also want her gf back :( adora refuses to go back to the land of oppression tho so they get into a. really suggestive fight. and catra always makes adora leaving the horde out to be adora leaving her.... she’s like babe i am literally so sexy. why would you dump me :( i’m hot :( and she’s right but i hate them. can y’all just like. not be so gay? :/ it’s starting to make me a lil bit homophobic tbh! and catra whispers into adora’s ear but it’s kind of like an insult so she gets water slapped and is forced to stop flirting :( boooo 8.5/10
system failure: hm. catra wasn’t in this ep? damn :( it’s a great ep but it’s pretty hard to find any catradora if adora is delirious the whole time and catra isn’t there. but! drunk/high adora existing gives us an idea of what she would be like around catra. 1/10 for the potential
in the shadows of mystacor: catra’s face when she sees adora in shadow weaver’s spy cam thing... interesting. she also acts like she’s So Sick of the adora missions which is true but also she is lying. kind of annoying that shadow weaver would be like. homophobic. but when she’s messing with adora’s head in mystacor she uses catra’s voice and laugh to achieve maximum effect :/ which like. thanks? but catra wasn’t actually there so shadow weaver really full on gaybaited adora huh :/ adora eventually defeats shadow weaver and we finally see catra again uwu she ends up plotting to kidnap bow and glimmer but the line “if you want to take down adora, you have to go for the heart” is so interesting because we eventually find out just how much of adora’s heart is filled with catra... 4/10 on its own 6/10 if you let the heart comment ruin your life!
princess prom: ARE Y’ALL READY TO PARTY oh my god,,, this is it you guys. this is THE ep. so funny of adora to be like. i have so many plans for every single thing that might happen. i am GOING to spend the party getting princess frosta to join the rebellion. and then catra shows up and adora is like nvm. what if i followed catra wherever she went instead. which is very interesting! adora, sweet baby, why do you always assign yourself to fight/follow/chase catra? when according to her in future eps is actually a bad decision which we can infer from her saying stuff like catra knows my every move she will be able to take me down,, ok then stop hogging her all the time?? anyway. let’s get into things chronologically. “how dare those princesses pretend they’re better than you? just because you’re different? how dare they abandon people just because they don’t fit in with their perfect little lives? how DARE they take best friends and turn them into giant sword ladies who run off with people clearly inferior to you?!” catra.... u got sth to say there buddy? :/ u got something u wanna get off your chest? :/ u had us in the beginning but then you started to get really specific :/ what’s that about sweetie :/ catra’s coping mechanism for this is to put on a really hot suit and going to princess prom to seduce the shit outta adora? fucking genius. yes she also kidnapped two people but let’s focus on the ingenuity of catra’s plan to make adora hot and heavy and also somehow jealous the entire time. incredible. so, catra shows up at the prom with scorpia and adora immediately starts bickering with her about rules. she fails to get catra kicked out so she resolves to stalk her instead! and catra... oh catra... she puts on a whole show..... performing everything from popping a tiny cake into her mouth to circling around a pillar seductively and dropping a note into a bin that says hi adora >:3 with a drawing of catra’s face that she worked hard on!! and adora looks like a crazy stalker ex gf and everyone is like damn.... u ok? :/ but adora doesn’t have time to care too much aside from a little “haha i swear i’m not a weirdo!” look because her mind is just screaming CATRA CATRA CATRA and she finds catra creeping up to entrapta. but ofc catra’s not trying to push entrapta off the ledge! no! she’s using entrapta to make adora jealous :3 catra pulls entrapta close and says “she stole my food and then asked me to spy on people with her. is this what love feels like?” and it WORKS and adora has to pull entrapta aside and be all hey i know we’re not super close yet but the bro code kinda states that u don’t date ur friend’s ex :/ so could you please back off? and entrapta is like say what now? ur gf just ditched btw so adora goes running after catra again and surprise surprise! it’s time to dance! and there are romantic lights and music! and uh oh! everyone else has a partner except for catra! guess this means adora’s gotta dance with her ohhhhh noooooooo :/ “i don’t know about you.... but i am having a blast” i really don’t think catra was lying!! i am on the verge of passing out!! adora moving away from catra after saying “whatever it is you’re planning, it won’t work!” and catra, many dance partners later, slamming back into adora’s body to continue their conversation with “maybe my plan won’t work, but then again...” THE DIP!!!!!!! “maybe it already has...” oh my god you guys. what the fuck. like they get into an angry shove fight after this but the tension! the tension! and then adora LIFTS catra up in the air? real close? they get ice blocked by frosta after this, more specifically she traps adora because she shoved catra first djfjdjdjdjd,,, after telling glimmer to find bow catra grazes adora’s chin with her tail to remind her that she’s still here!! don’t neglect!! and catra says the iconic “it was fun distracting you though ;)” line that adora was clearly affected by because she memorizes it and says it back to catra..... years later. i CANNOT make any of this shit up. what the fuck y’all. the fact that these evaluations are so long bother me but i HAVE to call these hoes out!! moving on, adora runs after catra in a very dramatic chase/fight scene, and adora is very amped up on uh, hormones. she catches catra at a “dead end” and goes “hah! trapped >:)” which is such a stupid thing to say to ur cat gf who can jump very high, so catra says “you wish ;)” and it is just. everything they are saying sounds very suggestive okay why are they LIKE THIS anyway catra jumps up some floating ice and adora follows her up the floating ice because she’s gay and she will jump however much is required of her to chase her gf down ok!! and so adora and catra are now on some ice cliff where adora keeps lunging and they’re also kind of like dancing? and catra is being very ~smooth~ dodging all of adora’s strikes and hitting her in one move. that’s kind of cool but also don’t bully your gf :( come on catra :( not cool :( but adora doesn’t give up and they continue fighting, until one missed move from catra nearly sends her off the cliff. but adora thinks she’s hot and she’s in love with her so she’s like nooo catra don’t fall off this cliff ur so sexy aha and catches her by. the waist. not the hand! but by the waist. any normal person would’ve gone for the hand. factually speaking, catra’s hand is easier to reach than her waist. but adora’s a hoe. so, she grabs catra by the waist and pulls her in closer by grabbing! oh you guessed it! her chest! like she grabs her shirt but it’s the part of the shirt that was at the chest. what the fuck. they both get this look in their eye that makes it seem like they want to kiss each other???? hello????????? and like. very upsettingly we now know that they’ve always wanted to kiss each other so. that knowledge makes watching this scene even worse. they shouldn’t have become enemies if they were going to be this horny. they’re so distracted by each other’s lips that they forget they’re standing at the edge of a cliff and guess what! they fall off the cliff! what a twist! but adora is like i’m NOT going to die because i was distracted by catra’s lips, so she grabs her hair stick thing and stabs it into the ice cliff. she grabs catra by the hand to save her, not the waist this time, because holding catra’s hand is also gay so she might as well do it. too bad catra lets go of her hand and ditches her tho :( i would minus points for that except it wouldn’t make much of a difference. catra says “see you later, princess ;)” because she’s already expecting to see adora again.... good lord 4828473737373/10 thanks noelle! i died
no princess left behind: but i’m a buddhist so i’m back. we open with catra laughing so prettily looking at her gf’s lesbian sword. very cute. later on, when shadow weaver betrays catra and tells her to go pack her things because she’s not needed anymore... adora gives her this look? :( she looks like she feels bad because catra’s clearly still suffering under shadow weaver’s thumb. but let’s zero in on the most important part! catra dragging the sword and pointing it at adora, before turning it around and giving it to her. “this is NOT because i like you” ok catra i didn’t think that before but now i Absolutely believe that you did this because you like adora. and u can tell adora kind of is like. ready to start her whole “you can come with me! we can be together! :(“ thing but things are complicated and catra told her to Just Go so... it is a lot and we know things are deeper than just catra liking adora but we will get emo over that later. 9/10 that was a good fucking scene
the beacon: “she left me behind too, like i was nothing :(“ some people say this is catra manipulating entrapta, and they are correct, but also she’s like.. “oh adora left you too? mad kin :(“ she was deadass about to start a support group with entrapta and technically she kind of did! good for them <3 catra goes to look for first ones tech and adora goes to look for the beacon to learn how to heal and guess what happens! they’re looking for the same place! catra’s “on second thought... hey adora >;)” at the end pushes this up to an 8/10, but that’s just like the last five seconds of the ep so objectively the rest of the ep was like. 4/10 idk lmaoooo
promise: finally some good fucking food. catra follows adora into the beacon and has a little fun spying on her and enjoying her epic fails at getting information on she-ra. she also finds the first one tech she needs, because she’s a multitasker and she can spy on her gf while doing important missions <3 but also she gets caught and adora nearly kills her fksjdjd “hey watch it! >:(“ is so funny because catra??? u are trespassing???? but also uwu baby yeah don’t accidentally kill ur gf adora :( adora’s reaction is also very funny “catra? what are you doing here? :O” as if catra hasn’t shown up at 70% of the places adora has been, but the way she asks it’s like. adora is happy to see catra? pleasantly surprised? man she is whipped. anyway, adora tries to pull the Tough Girlfriend move and like, mildly scold catra for trespassing into a building where only one person (she-ra) is allowed to be in. but she still grabs catra’s hand and guides her to an escape path :’) she lifts up a giant door thing and waits until catra runs in to let go and run after her <3 chivalry isn’t dead after all <3 they get into a lover’s tiff as they run for their lives and essentially it’s like “babe wtf WHY are giant mutant spiders trying to kill us isn’t this ur house” “they’re trying to kill YOU this is why you ring the doorbell instead of running in secretly after i open the door!” “oh and how was i supposed to know that! why can’t you just tell your teenage mutant ninja spiders to chill out??” “they’re not house-trained babe :( i moved in two minutes ago they came with the apartment” anyway the angry spider monsters catch up to them so catra goes “adora? :(“ and that’s enough for adora to take Direct Action so she slashes the walls and ceiling of the room they’re in before grabbing catra to shield them both. she is NOT getting her deposit back but uwu anything to keep gf safe <3 adora transforms back to her usual body and she once again reminds catra that she’s Not Supposed To Be Here and she’s like “god now i have to like Protect You and it’s gonna put my life in danger :/ haha what are you gonna do for me in return tho ;)” and catra is like. “well good thing i didn’t ASK you to protect me” so adora is like :( —> >:( wait u know what??? ok u know what????? why are u here >:( how’d u find me?? >:( and do u mean any of this in a gay way?? >:( say it’s in a gay way right now >:( and catra is like. ur gay castle sent a gay beam of light into the sky. i saw it immediately bc im gay but i do NOT mean this in a gay way. and adora is like oh :( ok :’( and then asks about shadow weaver bc she saw what went down in the horde and she like. i think she can tell shadow weaver still exerts some form of control that catra hasn’t broken free from? :( and then catra is like haha shadow weaver is a LOSER and adora starts giving her Gay Looks and it makes catra scared because her gf now thinks she has a crush on her!!!!!!! how Embarrassing!! “ugh, i knew you’d be weird about me letting you escape” ok so why did you say that thing about not liking her? “i told you it’s not because i like you!” there it is! that’s EXACTLY what i thought you’d say you lesbian! and the way she says it??? she definitely likes adora???? she is so bad at lying?????? and adora is so smug about it like her Face plus her crossed arms and the whole “i mean, i didn’t ;) i didn’t say anything ;)” her eyes.... your honor she’s gay...... she’s like what if we were in my secret castle..... standing amongst the rubble because i destroyed the infrastructure to protect you..... and we were both girls....... adora was Ready to turn her sword into a Bed right then and there ok!!! it’s not me it’s Her Eyes,,, anyway catra starts being salty again and brings up bow and glimmer and is like hey where’s those idiots u dumped me for :/ thought you looooooved hanging out with them and doing everything with them :/ like we used to :/ are they not as fun to hang out with adora is that why you’re standing in this spider infested building with me instead :/ and adora suddenly remembers that she can’t just be horny and that she has to hold catra accountable for her actions so she’s like oh my friends? the ones who u kidnapped and held for ransom???? >:( and catra is like ya what other friends would i be talking about :/ like god i know she’s evil but she’s so funny take her back adora :( jk ik ur gonna start begging her to Come With You in like minutes u absolute simp. but before that happened catra was like fuck u lets Split Up >:( we already broke up why would we run away from spiders together huh? unless u still like me? but clearly there’s only one way for them to walk so they can’t split up just yet and adora gives catra this >:( look so catra is like FINE one last date and they walk away together. they go into this... dark room and catra wants to leave the dark room because she’s scared of ghosts :( jk but the door disappears and something scans catra and adora and light hope is like cool! time to show them memories that are specifically picked to make catra resent adora! which :( not cool light hope :( i get that ur a bot who’s programmed to serve the homophobic agenda but damn u were gay once too :( anyway they’re sent to a memory in the fright zone and adora gets Angry bc she thinks catra tricked her and catra is like i wouldn’t play u like that :( and she finds out it’s all fake so she’s like adora :D u don’t have to be scared or mad at me anymore! :D she goes to look for adora but adora’s watching a memory of them when they were six and being really cute. back when adora had the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair and only really cared about making catra happy and having her back. catra blinded octavia and insulted her and adora was still like: ur not bleeding ur bones aren’t broken and u picked a pointless fight with someone who did not provoke you in any way. where is she i will insult her some more. i love u. like damn adora really do be a ride or die girl huh!! she’s still like this but they both have too many issues to realize it :( anyway catra and adora slip into the catra and adora of their memories and begin running off together holding hands............ and then they Realize they’re running off together Holding Hands....... and catra pulls away because of her internalized homophobia :( devastating. they get into a tiny little fight over magic and kidnapping again and then adora’s face softens and she’s like catra :( why Did you let me escape :( i know i made fun of u for it before but i legit do not know if u meant it in a gay way. pls confirm? :( u could have gotten caught catra :( why did u risk it :( is it because you secretly want to run away with me and join the rebellion? :( and be my gf? :( she’s so caught up in her questions that she nearly falls off a cliff AGAIN and catra catches her by the hand because these girls are obsessed with almost falling off cliffs to their deaths and saving each other. don’t judge them their Intricate Rituals are THAT deep. and catra is like. did you really think. i would let shadow weaver erase your memory like that? and risk you forgetting our relationship? even towards the end when we were broken up and fighting each other it was kinda lit and i want u to remember it. and adora is an idiot so she’s like idk lmao probably aren’t u like evil now and catra is like well you have a point but also fuck u for thinking i don’t care about u,,, u never did have too much faith in me :( and adora is like can u blame me :( and catra is like ur hot so.... no. i will let my tail linger on your hand as a hint that i still love you. and then catra is like.... adora i know u said fuck horde rights but does that include our relationship :( u had good memories right :( of me? :( and adora is like um duh??? i miss you so goddamn much too oh my god and catra is like hey how dare you imply that i missed you even tho it’s true!!! get over urself! and adora is like not until you admit you like me ;) and they play fight again because the rituals are so intricate..... and catra lies and says she doesn’t like adora ok lmao... they enter the next memory and it’s catra and adora sparring and they’re competitive but it’s also flirty? catra pretends to be hurt to get adora to let her guard down but lonnie interferes and this causes adora to beat catra. which. yeah :( and after adora wins she does the good gf thing where she asks catra if she’s okay and catra’s not ok but she lies and hides away to cry :( and we get it babe we do!! it’s hard being in love with someone who you’re also resentful of because you’re raised in a competitive environment and always treated like you’re worthless in comparison :( but the simulation stops and catra is caught by one of the spiders and adora doesn’t manage to save her in time, grabbing her hand only to fail and have catra slip through her fingers :( they scream for each other but catra manages to get the upper hand on the spider monster, except adora charges in at the last second and delivers the final blow, further driving home the false point that light hope is trying to make :( adora just wants to protect catra but because of their upbringing catra sees it as adora always wanting to be the best and adora thinking she’s better than catra hence her telling catra what to do “all the time” which isn’t totally true but it’s what catra has been led to believe :( and also adora’s upbringing plays into it too because she thinks she has to save everyone and take responsibility for everything and it’s all just really sad bros :( what the fuck :( adora apologizes for leaving again and tries to convince catra she never meant to leave her and that she wants catra to come with her because she knows catra isn’t a bad person :( and you can see!! catra considering it!! but then precisely BECAUSE catra is considering it the memory simulation thing kicks in again and... hoo boy. we see catra and adora sneak into the black garnet chamber, after being cute and competitive and running around the horde swinging from wire to wire.... they get caught by shadow weaver and she specifically punishes only catra. and it’s so fucked because it puts adora in this position of guilt where she always feels like she has to protect adora whilst slowly brainwashing her over the years into believing that catra does do disobedient things and that adora can only escape that if she’s always perfect and taking charge of everything. and for catra.... it takes the mutually loving relationship they have and poisons it because shadow weaver makes it very clear that to her, catra’s only redeeming quality is that adora favors her? and if not for that she would be disposed of? and so it’s very hard for catra to find individuality and a healthy connection to adora which created unresolved resentment and issues and just... :( and the whole confrontation they have after the simulation ends... adora could never protect catra in the way she needed to be protected because adora was also a child, and receiving a different form of abuse, and it’s just. harder for catra to leave? especially because she didn’t receive a sudden destiny the way adora did and her issues with the horde were never limited to morality. and so catra is just. she has way too much to work through and she can’t see past her resentment for adora because the machine is making her remember all of it. and so she tells a half truth and half lie to adora about giving her the sword because she didn’t want adora to come back :( catra runs away from adora and is attacked by flashes of memory. and then she faces one last memory alone. and it’s the promise adora made to catra when they were kids, about always looking out for each other, and catra looks at kid!catra and thinks adora has broken that promise, still stinging from the hurt of adora leaving her behind after finding the sword and becoming she-ra. it was never meant to be like this but catra is hurting so she focuses only on her side of things and how she saw these events play out and she :( decides to kind of betray adora? it hurts So Much because adora looks so hopeful when she sees catra while hanging on for dear life, and she thinks catra will save her again but catra talks about how the sword won’t work for her because she’s never been the Special One like adora was always heralded to be in the horde. and having adora literally be she-ra just drives that point home for catra and she hates adora for it because this means all the other stuff she believes is true too. adora made her feel weak on purpose, adora made catra think she needed her on purpose. “every hero needs a sidekick, right?” and adora’s “catra, no, that’s not how it was!” hits even harder now because we know that adora just. loved catra. she was in love with her but adora was also like catra in that she’s a product of her circumstances and upbringing. she was the way she is as a means of survival. but the one thing there that was pure and true was that they loved each other.... upsettingly neither of them can see that. catra goes down even further into the path of evil and thinks that. being free of adora. is the thing that will liberate her and bring her happiness. which. she is wrong about. but she can’t exactly see all that clearly right now :( and adora begging catra not to “do this” which... means she’s begging her not to leave? “bye adora! i really am going to miss you” and adora’s desperation skyrockets but it’s too late :( catra doesn’t come back for her and adora cries.... and it’s just so insane that literally everyone who wants to control adora focuses on poisoning her bond with catra because that’s the relationship that... matters most to her in the world. when you’ve loved someone your whole life it hurts when they betray you and it hurts to betray them too, as we can see from catra when she arrives back at the horde. she essentially looks Wrecked and freezes up when scorpia calls her “the best friend ever!” but i want to make one quick note of her “personal space” talk with scorpia? like fjdjdjdjd you have never had personal space with adora not once in your life ok that’s reserved for the gf only i see. 10/10 i am so wrecked emotionally this is way too much but also because it makes me so emo i will give it a perfect score but nothing else. no bonus points because i do not want to reward putting me in pain!
light hope: light hope showing adora the memories that make her feel guilty and it’s the first scene where catra sees her as she-ra and walks away.... adora’s been feeling guilty over catra since the moment she failed at getting catra to leave the horde :( 3/10
the battle of bright moon: “catra will be leading the horde when they attack. i have to face her.” it’s so interesting how there’s so many pressing things at hand? the weather is screwy, the alliance is broken, no one’s coming to save them, the rebellion could be crushed, but the thing that is really bothering adora, the thing that she brings up first, is catra. “i saw catra in there. i thought i could get through to her, but all i did was push her farther to the side of evil” she sounds... so heartbroken about it all :( catra and adora meet on the battlefield and the first thing catra says is,,, u guessed it,,,, “hey adora.” and adora’s like “catra. surprised to see me?” and like damn they’re really so good at being enemies. the talent. the tension. impeccable. and then catra says nah i didn’t think u died and im glad u made it out alive. and adora, bless her soul, is like oh.... u mean in a gay way..... u didn’t want me to die..... for homosexual reasons?? and catra is like no! haha! i uh, i just wanted to kill u in a cooler much sexier way. and adora is like oh :( oh >:( oh >:’( and they get into a very heated sexy fight like catra wanted. and they taunt each other like. “i thOUgHt yOU weRe suPposED tO bE stRoNG” “aND i tHouGHt yOu wERe sUpPOsEd tO bE fAst” you know. very cool well crafted taunts. and like. they fight a lot which is kind of sad but also kind of sexy because their styles are like? similar and different? which is the dumbest way to compare any two things ever but like :( y’all get what i mean right :( we get one more Hanging Off A Cliff scene and this time adora grabs catra by the chest and shoves her against the wall, and catra is like cool! but u did this,, for what? and then adora realizes catra was just distracting her Again and bright moon is very badly under attack :( catra bids her adieu so adora can run back and fight. but she like. gets caught :( and catra walks up to her and gently caresses her cheek before adora passes out and it’s evil but it’s also tender? but it’s also evil i know i know :( all of the princesses come to help adora so she sends a beam of magic gay light and heals everything and then all the princesses send a gay tsunami washing over catra. the horde loses, and catra retreats in a skiff, but adora and catra exchange one more Look as she leaves... hm. 9/10

For we will raise you, in safety and peace
Okay, tumblr ate the first attempt at this post, hopefully it doesn’t devour this one as well! Here’s the deal, I can’t seem to figure out a good ending for this fic to save my life and I don’t want it to languish in the pile of unfinished wips. So I’m going to post what I have here on tumblr to at least get it out there somewhere. If anyone has suggestions for an ending I am all ears! HUGE shoutout to @venn364 for helping me figure this fic out to this point and for helping me Horde-ify hush a by baby!
Rating: Teen (for some cursing) Category: F/F/F Relationship(s): Glitradora (Glimmer/Catra/Adora) Characters:  Glimmer, Catra, Adora Warnings: None apply, this is a fluff fic Additional Tags: Multiple PoVs, fluff, happy fic, happy ending, crushes, idiots in love, dorks in love, young children, Catra deals with the curse of being cute, Adora is a massive dork but what else is new, Glimmer tries to flex on her crushes by singing, lullaby, hush a by baby, post war, post canon Summary: During the post-war reconstruction of Plumeria, Glimmer volunteers herself and voluntells her crushes to take care of the local children to keep them out from under foot. She just, didn’t expect the Horde to require childcare as part of their regular duties and rotation. Or Three Sapphics watch one another interacting with young children and go, “Well guess I’m somehow more in love, cool cool cool.”
Adora and Catra looked at one another and shrugged. “Yeah okay.”
Glimmer was relieved, don’t get her wrong, but that was…not exactly what she’d expected. “Just like that? That simple?”
It wasn’t like she’d expected them to just hop on board with her, even if she’d wanted this to all pan out.
Catra rolled her eyes, a bit too theatrically thanks, before answering, “Well, I mean, sucks to be doing Cadet chores again, but, whatever. Just a buncha kids.”
“I feel like I’m missing something,” Glimmer grumbled, rubbing a hand at her neck. “You’re not trying to act too cool, and you’re not freaking out enough.”
They shared another confused look before Adora spoke up. “I mean, why would I? We’ve done a bunch of rounds at the Infant Pods, more than our fair share in fact.” That last part she said with a pointed look at her oldest friend.
Catra stretched lazily, “I will not apologize.”
“Point is, we can do this. It’s pretty simple over all, especially with you there as a third!”
Glimmer laughed, “Wait. Hang on, seriously? I’ve never babysat before but you two have?”
“Really? Weird. But, uh, yeah. Everyone in the Horde has some child rearing experience, it’s literally part of your Cadet chores and rotation.”
The galaxy must be on it’s side right now. The Horde, the EVIL Horde, had enforced babysitting chores. “Why?”
Adora shrugged, “Well someone has to make sure they’re clean and fed, doing their homework-”
“Not destroying property or getting in dangerous situations before we could send them to the meat grinder-”
“Keeping them out from underfoot, and getting their energy out too.”
“Also the whole, sometimes babies just die when you don’t, like, hold them enough thing. ...What? Did you think Hordak was at the Pods rocking them to sleep?” Catra laughed.
It certainly was an image. Glimmer giggled as she pictured Hordak overwhelmed by a literal wave of babies. “No, I just never thought about it I guess. You’ll have to teach me.”
They both grinned and Glimmer felt her heart skip a beat. It was, look, don’t judge, it was a really, really good look on them, okay?
It only took a few minutes to arrive at the temporary nursery Perfuma had set up. While Plumeria was still being cleaned up, she’d wanted a safe place for the children to go, and only needed a few extra hands to help as she pulled her subjects to help redesign their homes. Not that she’d put it like that. Something about syncing their harmonies while reconnecting with their innermost roots? The point was that Glimmer had offered to help mostly to help and partially to avoid another extremely long and boring meeting, but one teleporting queen with no childcare experience was not ideal. Perfuma had been the one to suggest Catra and Adora, seeing as the reconstruction really relied more on Perfuma regrowing the homes in this particular space.
So, they were working with what they had. And apparently that meant Horde soldiers. Experienced Horde soldiers who knew what to do with kids. Weird!
~
When they arrived, it was chaos.
Catra couldn’t help the small grimace she wore, she’d never been fond of IPD. Kids are loud, they don’t have boundaries or respect for other’s boundaries either. She doesn’t know how many times some toddler or Junior Cadet had petted her or pulled her tail and ears with their mysteriously sticky little hands while covered in snot. But she could also say that the one good thing about it was, without fail, some baby was going to think you were the hottest shit ever. And it had done wonders for her low self esteem as a Cadet to know that she’d always collect a gaggle of kids who everyone claimed were impossible to handle doing exactly what she wanted.
It had actually been kind of hilarious out in the Crimson Waste to use some of the tactics she’d learned in the IP against grown gangsters and thugs.
Catra could also say that the very next best thing about it was watching Adora either slowly unravel into a total mess or watching Adora get all the other kids under her thumb. Not that Adora would think of it like that, the goody two shoes, but kids seemed to naturally either love the blonde or desire nothing more than to destroy her.
Especially at the time, Catra could relate.
She was actually kind of interested to do this now just to see Adora go at it again.
And also Glimmer apparently had no experience with kids and Catra would kill to watch that skiff wreck. No, ugh, she had promised to help hadn’t she? Alright, no watching that skiff wreck unless it happened before she could intervene.
She snickered a little as, just like she used to, Adora gave the attention claps that none of these particular kids would know. Embarrassingly, the old rhythm still made Catra’s back straighten a hair just thanks to the amount of times she’d heard it.
Adora’s voice rang loud and clear across the little fenced in area, “Atten-shun!”
The kids mostly stopped, but Catra had a feeling that was due to an adult shouting and not out of their training. Did rebellion kids have training? They had to get some kind of education for sure. Huh. Probably should look into that, like, now that it was post war and all.
“Hello, salutations, and greetings!” Adora started her old spiel as if she’d never stopped, putting on her ‘force captain’ voice which was almost a mockery more than anything else. Not that Adora realized that. “I am Adora, this is Catra, and this is Glimmer. Today we will be watching, caring, sharing, and not botching a wonderful day of enrichment with you. Starting now we will do our very best to educate, captivate, and celebrate without need to castigate! It is time to have fun and run, uh, under the sun! Can I get a hoo-ra?”
The part about their newly acquired sun was a nice touch, Catra mental gave Adora extra points for finally having learned to change it on the fly. Catra weakly lifted a fist to mutter ‘hoo-ra’ with a few confused kids. Oof. Rough, but not unexpected. These ankle biters hadn’t been trained to respond promptly and loudly to Horde commands.
Yet it still had about the same effect. The children were already split down the middle looking at Adora like she was a complete idiot or like she was the best thing ever. Soon more of them would think she was the best thing ever than not, kids loved Adora’s canned speech. It always got a few laughs. Kids were easily entertained by someone clearly putting on a show and rhyming.
Adora put on an over the top look of bewilderment, putting her fists on her hips in some sort of quasi-power pose before asking, “What kind of hoo-ra was that? I want you to shout from deep in your lungs, you won’t sound dumb when it’s all in good fun! Now can I get a HOO-RA?”
Catra gave a slightly more enthusiastic call, and was delighted when Glimmer gamely screamed her head off and then blushed as the kids stared at her, because they had still not shouted. Alright, this had already paid off! Nothing better that watching Glimmer blush like that.
Adora was smiling warmly at the queen, that was always a good look on her. “I SAID HOO-RA!”
This time they managed to get most of the brats on board. A whole army of kids no taller than her waist who were thrilled to scream, a few even did it more than once. It was kind of nostalgic.
“THAT’S what I call a call! I am floored by this horde-” Adora’s eyes widened in panic as she tried to pivot her pre-written speech for a second time. “-o-of wards! Floored! I am floored!”
Aaaand twice was one too many alterations. As much fun as it would be to watch Adora fall apart over it, Catra knew it was mean. And she was trying to, you know, to be less mean.
“Ca-Adora,” wow this was harder than she’d thought. She hadn’t almost called Adora a Cadet in years. “Will be working with any of you who’d like to play a singing and marching game. Line up in front of Adora if you want to join.”
Catra grabbed Glimmer’s hand to pull her forward, which really was only for the benefit of getting to hold Glimmer’s hand. “Anyone who does not want to play a game can join us, we will be taking care of the infants so it’ll be quieter.”
She was not surprised when most of the children flocked to play. There were always a few quiet ones or nervous ones who would hang back, and she was counting on it. Sure enough four kids shuffled their way instead of towards Adora, who was already sorting her little platoon into rank and file, teaching them a quick sound off to learn their names.
Catra motioned between her and Glimmer, “You know our names, what are yours?” The kids shifted awkwardly, looking at one another to start. Catra smirked. “If you don’t want to say I will give you a nickname. For instance, this is now Sparkles.”
Glimmer glared at her, but Catra didn’t stop or let her get a word in edgewise. She pointed at the first kid with glasses, “You can be Specs, short for specification.” A bold faced lie if she’d ever told one. “Stripes, I like your shirt!” Less of a lie. “Flower Power just like Princess Perfuma,” she nodded to the boy with a flower crown. The last kid was nervously shifting hoof to hoof, “And Two Step you got some fancy looking moves.”
“And what do you all think we should call Catra?” Glimmer asked, grinning evilly, as if the kids wouldn’t just suggest kitty or fluffy or whiskers. Maybe tails if someone was feeling creative.
“Kitty!”
Catra chuckled, it was like clockwork. “How about Big Cat? It’s cooler than Kitty!” They nodded gamely to the change. “Cool. Now, does anyone want to help me with the babies? We just need to hold them.”
That was how Catra found herself leaning back against a tree with an infant sleeping on her chest after she’d situated Glimmer and the quartet. All while snickering at some of the concerned looks being shot their way as Adora got the platoon marching and singing. If they weren’t gonna get their asses in gear to manage all the hyper kids, then they could suck it up. Besides, it wasn’t even that intense of a song.
“I think that learning is cool!” The kids echoed after Adora. “Which is why I will stay in school!”
It was schlocky and dorky, if she’d been over there she’d have died of embarrassment already.
Still, Catra couldn’t help but melt a little as Adora exaggerated a high march and then kids behind her did basically whatever they wanted as she marched them around the nursery. It was nice. Even if it made Adora look really dumb, it also made her look happy.  Something Catra hadn’t seen a lot of from her in years. Oh no, she was getting mushy about this now?
Disgusting. She needed a distraction stat.
“Anyone have a good story?” Catra asked and after a beat of silence, promptly ignored the kids as they started almost talking over each other to tell something about their day or who knows what. Thankfully Glimmer seemed interested even if a little stiff and awkward. Catra was grateful that her fur hid a sudden blush as she watched Glimmer holding a baby and being enthusiastically engaged in the kids' stories.
Wow.
She gets away from the Horde for less than a year, and now she’s getting sappy over Sparkles.
Gross.
~
Adora, of course, had a plan. A good one with details and everything!
She was using her patented IPPA (thankfully, things had to be going pretty bad for her to resort to Infant Pod Plan B) and so far things had gone well. She’d taught her platoon to march, even got them to make up some rhymes to sing for it (even if she’d had to backtrack after one of the boys said ‘butts’ and everyone then started to just scream sentences with little sense ending with ‘butts’). After a bit of that she got them doing some basic exercise with her. Jumping jacks and running, she’d then start a game of charge and was already wincing in sympathy pains as some of the kids hurled themselves full speed at the enemy team only to fold in half around their linked arms. Still, the point was to give them free reign here to lose their minds and wear out their bodies a little in preparation for a well earned nap or quiet play time.
After making sure that Catra had eyes on her group, Adora left to hunt down water for everyone, and maybe spent a little time making heart eyes across the field.
Catra, despite what she thought, was pretty good with kids. Especially little infants. Between her fluff, heat, and purrs she was an instant baby soother. Adora would know, she was once the only big baby that Catra would soothe the same way. When they’d been younger, Catra used to lose her temper during IPD, but the older they got the more she’d pull it together. There had always been something heartwarming about watching Catra sit down with a kid who was upset and listen to them intently.
Then there was Glimmer. Gosh, she’d been so nervous going in, but seemed to be quickly becoming a favorite. Because Glimmer always listened to people, no matter their age, and her high energy responses appeared to be winning her fans. The more she integrated with the kids, the more she relaxed too. And there was something absolutely mind blowing about watching her bounce a little baby in her arms, while gasping in genuine delight at something a kid had scribbled into the dirt with a stick.
Adora didn’t even blush, didn’t feel a lick of shame as she quietly got affirmation that yes, girls.
“Ew,” one of the kids snickered after finishing their water, looking right at her before making a face.
She smiled, shrugging and offered her best, worldly advice. “Girls are great.”
“Ew.” They repeated before giggling and skipping away to their friends.
Whether they eventually agreed with her, liked boys instead, like everyone, or even no one, Adora felt very assured in her assessment of wow girls pretty, so she let it slide.
Later, standing at the barrel and handing out gourds of water or helping kids re-apply their protective balms (the sun was nice, but the sun could apparently burn you which was insane), she did another check. Taking note of any particularly worn out kids to send over to Catra’s group, and was very pleased that no one seemed to be really injured. Man, this was way easier than manhandling Recruits who were about to be Junior Cadets. Maybe she could do this more often? Without all the jockeying for power and praise it was actually fun.
After another thirty minutes whizzed by according to her internal clock, Adora decided it was time to start her platoon’s cool down for water and snacks. Maybe a nap after that. It was all smooth sailing!
Adora managed to make eye contact with Catra, flashing a quick few hand signs they’d made up when they were eight and almost lived in the pods between Adora’s clumsiness and Catra’s random bursts of high energy. Catra nodded, both hands occupied as she bottle fed one of the infants, and Adora almost died. First of cuteness, because Catra was looking so cute! But also from laughter because Glimmer’s tongue was sticking out between her teeth in concentration as she carefully fed another infant. And also because she looked super cute doing it!
What a sight! It took her another minute to realize she was just standing there staring at them with a horrifically soft smile on her face. And Catra was staring back with an equally mortifying soft look. And Glimmer was now looking between them with her own embarrassingly tender look.
So this is how I die, public affection.
For some reason this was the thing that set her off. Blushing as red as her jacket, Adora pivoted around to call the platoon to get some snacks and more water. Which, considering most of them were either still singing or making up marching songs, took a little bit to organize.
~
The snack and water break had been decently timed, they had just finished burping the last of the babies when Adora called all the kids over. Catra waited with Glimmer until everyone else had something to eat, before mingling as best she could. It was more second nature to keep her head on a swivel, making sure no kids were making a jailbreak and no one was beating someone else’s face in. Although that probably wasn’t a concern on the Rebellion side. Maybe she’d have to rescue a kid from suffocating under a bunch of hugs?
She shrugged and got a gourd of water, barely finishing it before Two Step tugged at her hand. They’d only gotten more energetic the longer they’d been helping, so she wasn’t even surprised when they asked, "Can I pet your fluff!?"
Catra sighed heavily. This is what she got for wearing a crop top around children. She turned to look at the Two Step and smiled as best she could while also dying inside. If she didn’t let it happen following her own rules, many kids would simply find a way to make it happen anyways. Better to get it out of the way and without sticky hands. Seriously what do kids even do that makes their hands that sticky? "Sure, but only if I can touch your antlers, they look fuzzy."
They almost stabbed her in the stomach with said nubbly antlers in their excitement, apparently oblivious for at least a moment about how fragile they were. Two Step was still wiggling around the way they had the whole afternoon as they rushed to explain, "They are! They’re new and growing in bigger and my dad says that someday they’ll be HUGE like his!"
She ran a few fingers carefully along the warm velvet and nodded, it was softer than she’d actually expected it to be, and it almost seemed like she could feel the blood pumping in them? Or maybe her brain was messing with her? Either way, weird. "Neat. Your turn kiddo."
Catra did her best to not groan in annoyance when the girl simply leaned forward to rub her face on the fluffiest part of her belly.
"You said pet."
"I am petting!"
"Petting is done with your hands, not your face."
"Says who?"
Well shit, had her there. “...alright, well played.”
She glared as the trademark a high pitched whistling sound of cooing alerted her to Glimmer and Adora looking at her with hearts in their eyes and sparkles around their faces. Not literally, but she could picture it. The traitors. She could see Glimmer mouthing the words so cute and groaned. She was not cute! Ugh!
“Okay, I think that’s enough.”
Two Step grumbled but let go. “Thanks!” And with that they skipped away to hang out with the other kids.
Oh yeah, definitely time to put the kids down for a nap if they could.
~
It had taken longer that Glimmer expected to calm down the kids. A small handful of them went tearing off around the field cackling like loons as Catra easily loped after them on all fours. Which of course resulted in more kids wanting to get chased for some reason, shrieking in delight each time Catra put on a hair more speed to tap their arms or legs. Eventually even they were exhausted and fell panting into the grass for Adora and her to watch while Catra continued herding. It was adorable and Glimmer was never, ever gonna let her live down her afternoon of being a sheep dog. If only Bow or Entrapta were here to take a picture!
Glimmer reluctantly left her post of watching and jeering at ‘Big Cat’ to help Adora get the youngest ones situated and sleeping rolls or blankets laid out. For the ones who refused to take a nap (whether because they weren’t tired or wanted to pretend they weren’t tired), Glimmer asked around to find a few decks of cards for them to use. She wrangled a promise from each group to be quiet so their friends could sleep, and by the time she’d finished that it was tempting to take her own nap.
Adora was efficiently sorting kids into sleeping spaces, and Glimmer smiled a bit at the way she let pairs and groups just pile up together. Having seen the impossible looking ways Adora and Catra could be found tangled up after a nap, she felt pretty confident that they knew what they were doing.
When Catra finally arrived with the last two kids, both of whom she carried under her arms as they giggled, Glimmer was grateful for the chance to relax a little with her friends. She nudged Adora’s side as they passed and whispered, “Maybe afterwards you can use She-Ra? You know, give them a climbing gym or swing them around.”
Adora blinked rapidly before breaking out in a huge grin and did a little over the top flexing before they made their way over to sit with Catra. And for a few minutes they sat in a peaceful silence, enjoying the sounds of the forest and leaning against one another.
“Pssst,” Stripes rolled over to look at them, making huge puppy dog eyes before asking, “Sing us a lullaby?”
Glimmer’s eyes sparkled as she turned to watch Adora and Catra apparently debate the issue, because hello! Getting to hear them sing lullabies! They rapidly signed back and forth, faces squashing and stretching as they added emphasis to the conversation before they turned and nodded.
“Okay,” Adora said softly, “but you can’t laugh, we only know Horde songs.”
“The Horde had songs?” A little boy asked, popping up from his blanket with a huge smile.
“Yeah we did. To be fair, they’re not uh,” Adora faltered and quickly looked at Catra, which to be fair Glimmer hadn’t considered that the songs they knew might be inappropriate. She quickly decided that she also didn’t really care.
“Adults probably wouldn’t like them here.” Catra supplied with a mischievous grin, apparently knowing that the kids would all be desperate to hear them now.
“Catra!” Adora hissed in what was probably supposed to be a whisper.
“I want to hear!” Glimmer added fuel to the fire and snickered at the look of betrayal on Adora’s face. “What? I do!”
She threw her arms in the air before huffing in her fake annoyed voice, “Fine, I’ll sing a song!”
There was a moment before Adora shakily started to sing both a very familiar tune set to very different lyrics.
Hush-a-bye baby, your crying will cease For we will raise you, in safety and peace If the walls crumble, there’s no need to bawl We’ll burn the villains, princess and all
Glimmer sputtered, accidentally ending it before it even started, not just because the lullaby included a line about burning rebellion citizens to death including princesses. But also because her mother used to sing this to her! “Wait, wait, wait, that’s- that’s not how that song goes!”
“Wha- yes it is!” Adora huffed, arms crossing as she blushed, “I said you couldn’t be mean!”
“First of all, you said I couldn’t laugh and I didn’t! Secondly,” Glimmer cleared her throat to sing her version. She’d always loved singing, even took lessons when she was younger before deciding she’d rather do it for fun. But what was the point of being able to sing flawlessly under pressure if not to flex on your crushes?
Rock-a-bye baby, thy cradle is green; Father's a nobleman, mother's a queen; And Buckley’s a washer, who wears a gold ring; And Tambour’s a drummer, who drums for the king.
Not that she got any further than Adora did before being interrupted as well.
“Ew, it’s all princessy!” Catra jeered playfully getting a few giggles from the kids.
“Uh, yeah, my mom sang it to me when I was a baby!”
“Gross. Ours is better!”
Adora laughed nervously, apparently unsure what to do as their play fight went down in front of a room full of impressionable children. Which, really, was her own fault for not expecting it.
Glimmer puffed up and leaned forward, tapping Catra on the nose just to be a brat before issuing the challenge she knew would get results. “Prove it!”
Ah, the good old stand by of “prove it”, as equally effective as a double dog dare!
So Catra, looking genuinely affronted, took a breath and sang in a wholly and unfairly good voice.
Hush-a-bye baby, your crying will cease For we will raise you, in safety and peace If the walls crumble, there’s no need to bawl We’ll burn the villains, princess and all
Baby is drowsing, valiant and brave With Hordak’s power, disorder we’ll stave Though cadet’s sleeping, her dreams we all share For order and harmony’s, our duty to bear
Hush-a-bye baby, do not you fear Never mind, baby, your squad is right here Strong little fingers, but eyes must shut tight Stay sound asleep now, until morning’s light
“People sang to you as babies about Hordak’s power and burning people?” Glimmer asked, both perplexed at the Horde-ified version and slightly disturbed. No wonder some of their soldiers bought the Evil Horde’s propaganda if this was what they were taught from the cradle!
“Glimmer, I love you, and I say this with as much respect as I can,” Catra said without an ounce of respect in her body or soul, “We grew up in the Fright Zone under the eyes of commanding officers of the Evil Horde. What did you think they sang to us about?”
Well shit, had her there.

Ok so I have a n idea about why reader got kidnapped in frosta x reader, feel free to use it if you liked it , so I thought: the people that are in all black and wear a mask they are part of the horde/crimson waste and they want to take over the kingdom of snow cause it is the strongest and the biggest kingdom of etheria, so they used reader against frosta to threaten her and to give them the kingdom, since reader can't fight and doesn't have powers, they used her, they recorded the reader being tortured and they send it the the princesses, but bow and entrapta hacked the video to find where they live and all of them go to save reader, frosta saves her and...you can imagine what happened next :) maybe reader comforting frosta or....fluffy ending :) 🥰🥰🥰😇
Not me posting
Anyways, I am finally putting an end to this mini series after like... a long time, hope you enjoy.
Frosta x Reader Part 3
Warning: Verbal/Physical Abuse
The kingdom of snows had fallen into a deep depression. It had been months since you were taken and Frosta was slowly losing hope that she would see you again. Frosta had not been faring well and was barely able to keep up with her royal duties. The weekly meetings that you both once held died out pretty fast after your capture. Adora and Catra use to visit often, when they would take breaks from searching for you, but slowly stopped visiting when Catra got pregnant.
All Frosta felt anymore was anger, fear, and heartbreak. She was angry that she couldn't save you all those months ago and angry that she still couldn't find you. She was scared about how you were doing. She would stay up wondering most nights if you were still even alive and that would lead to nightmares when she would finally pass out from exhaustion. She was heartbroken as she watched the others in the alliance thrive in their own lives and marriages. Most of them had children already and now some were expecting more. It just reminded her about all the talks the two of you would have about having children and growing old together.
---
"Queen Frosta!" A guard yelled as they burst through the doors and into the throne room. Frosta waved off the other guards who immediately stood at alert and glared at the guard who arrived unannounced. "What is it?' Frosta asked bored, she was ready to return to her room and be alone. "I just received a tablet from a hawk, we started to review the video but stopped once we saw her face." Frosta perked up at the sound of "her". Could it be you? Were you alive?
Without a second thought, Frosta hit the emergency Alliance button and took the tablet from the guard. "Thank you, return to your post." She said as she walked briskly to the war room. She set the tablet in a safe she had and called for her maids to clean the room. This could be her only chance at getting you back, she was going to be prepared.
---
The Princess Alliance, or what was left of them that wasn't pregnant or taking care of children, busted through the throne room doors expecting it to be a mess as it had been last time. Instead they were greeted by a guard who lead them to the war room. They sent Frosta confused looks as they took their seats in the dark room. As soon as they all sat, Frosta pressed play on the tablet and let a holo-screen play the video that was on the tablet.
"We'll only say this once." A cloaked figure said as he grabbed your beaten and bloody face and pointed it towards the camera. "Give us control of your kingdom and you can have your lovely wife back... Even though, it seems that she likes spending time with use." The person in the cloak said smugly and turned towards you, only to for you to spit in their face. "You bitch!" They roared as they sent a swift but hard backhand across your face. "You will learn your place, mutt."
The person grabbed you by your hair, causing you to flinch in pain, and karate chopped you in the throat before letting go. Your body fell to the floor as you attempted to catch your breath. The Princess Alliance members gasped at the sight of your body. You were clearly malnourished, your spine and ribs showed prominently as you layed on the floor. Your eyes were dark and sunken in, showing the clear exhaustion that you felt. What had they done to you?
The cloak person turned to look at the screen again before speaking. "You have 24 hours to officially surrender or you won't have a wife anymore." The screen turned black as a count down showed on the screen.
20:00:00
---
The war room was flowing with activities as Bow, Entrapta, and Emily started to try and hack the tablet that held the video of you in it, hoping to get at least an idea of where the video was shot from. The others, Adora, Sea Hawk, Scorpia, and Hordak, started coming up with battle and infiltration plans for when they got your location. Spinnerella and Netossa made sure Frosta was okay, trying to provide motherly affection that they had for Frosta and her wife. All Frosta could do was stare at the timer in front of her.
10:00:00
---
"This is it. This is it." Was all Frosta could keep saying in her head as the Princess Alliance rode two skiffs towards the crimson waste. Frosta was finally bringing you home. After months of loneliness, fear, anger, and heartache, it would all finally disappear as soon as she held you in her arms. The only thing she was worried about now was if you would blame her or not.
5:00:00
---
The group snuck through the tower as quickly and quietly as they could. They couldn't get caught now, not when they were so close to bringing you home. Bow held up his hand to stop the group as they came to an intersection in the hallway, his tracker pad pointing in the direction of the right turn. The room almost 15 feet away from the group. He looked back at his friends and saw as determination was showing in all their eyes. This was it, they were getting you back, Frosta was going to get her happy ending.
00:10:00
---
They had to have known they were in the building. There were way too many masked figures in the room you were being held in for them not to know. The Princess Alliance members fought hard but it felt as if the people in cloaks never stopped coming. They would knock one down and 2 more would appear in their place. In the midst of all the fighting, Frosta had told Entrapta to go through the vents to find where they were holding you, the room they were in was obviously a trap. Entrapta did return with you but not in the way Frosta had hoped.
They had knocked down the last of the cloaked people and all stood at the ready as the door opened. They relaxed some seeing Entrapta enter the room first, but immediately got back into a defensive position as they saw the leader of the cloaked people enter behind her. Shortly behind them were two burley looking men, one of whom was holding your unconscious form in his arms. "I certainly should have expected this." The leader said, the smugness clear in their voice. "Let's finish this."
00:00:03
00:00:02
00:00:01
00:00:00
---
"ugh..." You groaned out as you rolled over. You felt a breath on your neck and let yourself imagine that you were home and out of the shit hole you had been stuck in for months. You let your dream play out more but grew confused when you felt arms, that you thought you had imagined, tighten around you pulling you closer towards the heat of someone else's body. Realizing that you were not in fact dreaming about sharing the bed with another person, you hopped out of bed and away from whoever was holding you.
You sudden movement had woken up the person laying next to you and your eyes widened as you took in the sight of blue hair and black eyes that you had been dreaming about for months. You covered your mouth as you felt tears and sobs start to wrack your fragile body. "Y/n? Are you okay?" Frosta asked worried as she climbed over the bed and towards you before standing in front of you, not knowing is she should reach towards you or not.
"Is this real?" You ask as your reach towards Frosta's face, but stop a few inches short afraid that if you touch her the illusion would disappear. Frosta grew a sad smile on her face as she watched you have an internal battle with yourself. "It's real, my love. You're home, I promise." You took a deep breath and connected your hand to Frosta's cheek slowly, letting out a gasp as you felt her warmth against your palm. "I... I'm... this is real." You say with a watery laugh as tears start to fall faster. Frosta grabs the hand that was resting on her cheek and squeezes. "Hell yeah it is." She states with big smile.
Without warning, you pull Frosta in for a kiss. Letting the both of you destress for the first time in months, now that you were in each others arms once again. The both of you fell back into bed and held each other for the rest of the night. Enjoying the peace you both felt. Both of you knew, that some things would be different. That there was going to be things you needed to work through but for now... For now, it could all wait till tomorrow.

Can you please do a yandere Catra x reader where the reader starts falling in love with Catra?
Yandere Catra x reader who falls in love with her
My first Yandere!Catra x Stockholm!syndrome!reader 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Catra was holding you hostage in the fright zone after you tried to get Entrapta on the skiff and you unfortunately got stuck with her in the fright zone and Adora and the others thought you were dead.
Catra forced you and Entrapta to build robots for them and you hated it but something about Catra made your heart beat faster. You didn’t know what it was, her hair? Her attitude? Her face? She was hot. “Oh no she’s not” you would always think to yourself
You were in the lab with Entrapta and Catra walked in and it always scared you because of how intimidating she is but it always made you blush. Catra was yelling at Entrapta to make some new machine, her yelling somehow turned you on.
“(Y/n)!” Catra yelled.
“Y-Yes f-force captain Catra.” You stutter, even though you liked her, she was scary as fuck.
“I need you to come with me.” Catra demands.
You nod and follow her. Your awkward nerd body followed her around the fright zone and you were scared but being with Catra made you feel a little more at ease for some reason.
Catra pushed you into a room and locked the door, it was scary but it was arousing to you. You couldn’t explain it, yes you were scared of Catra but she was just so...attractive?
Catra explained how she needed you to stay with her because she didn’t want you and Entrapta to plan to escape. You assured her you’d never do that but Catra didn’t believe you and wanted you with her at all times and she meant at all times.
Catra made you follow her around like a little puppy and didn’t make you do much work, she just made you hold a tablet every once and a while. Catra made you sleep in her room and you offered to sleep on the floor but she made you sleep in her bed.
Catra would sleep at your feet and you offered so many times that she could sleep next to you and the first time Catra slept next to you, you made sure to give her lots of space on the bed and you let her have most of the blanket, it wasn’t out of fear, you just wanted her to be comfortable...wait why did you want that?
Catra didn’t mind and she fell asleep really quickly and you wanted to cuddle her but you resisted every urge to do so. Every night Catra fell asleep next to you and you even woke up a few times to her tail wrapping around your leg.
After the battle of bright moon Catra ranted to you for hours about Adora and everything that happened and you just listened to her and tried to comfort her.
When Adora and the others discovered you were alive, they said they’d rescue you. You told them you were happy in the Fright Zone and you wanted to stay. The looks on their faces killed you but it was true, you wanted to stay with Catra.
As time went on and the more time you spent with Catra, the more you fell in love with her. Everything about her was just so attractive. Catras hair and face and body just made your heart flutter and made you blush.
Catra always told you that you weren’t leaving her and if you even thought of it, she’d kill you. Catra killing you? Wow that is hot, at least to you it is.
When you were in the northern reach together Catra kept you close and snuggled up to you at night but said it was for warmth and she didn’t like you, you knew she was bluffing though.
After Shadow Weaver escaped Catra kept an extra eye on you and would pull you closer every time it looked like you were closing the distance between the two of you, in reality you weren’t trying to, you actually wanted to get closer to her because of how she made you blush and how she made your heart beat and how horny she made you.
Catra would yell at you and lash out at you for little thing and you always thought it was your fault and you always tried to fix whatever problem Catra was yelling at you for. Catra yelling at you made you so...aroused and it was so sexy to you and it always made you horny.
You joined Scorpia in the crimson waste and seeing Catra all angry and bossy like that made you fall harder in love with her and she was just so attractive when she was fighting.
When the portal thing happened, you were with Catra and Adora and Catra tried to convince Adora that you three all grew up together.
After the portal Catra got more attractive with her new outfit but became more angry and you thought that anger was hot. Catra got more possessive over you and wouldn’t let you speak to anyone and there were some days that you were locked up in your shared room.
You didn’t mind though because seeing Catra at night in her pjs was just breath taking to you. When you weren’t locked up, Catra would keep you very close to her and got angry when anyone would touch you or try to talk to you.
After Scorpia left, Catra held you at tightly at night and refused to let you out of her sight and made sure to tell you what would happen if you even attempted to escape, she’d say in great detail how she would hurt you if you even steped one foot away from her.
It was so hot to you.
You reassured her that you weren’t going to try to escape and you’d be with her for as long as she needed you.
You loved her.

taylor swift x catradora playlist
in honor of evermore dropping tonight (midnight, EST) i humbly present the following by album break down of songs that miss swift wrote solely for catradora
taylor swift (2006)
tied together with a smile--the struggle adora faces being the hero/put on a pedestal from her horde days to becoming she ra
invisible--catra facing jealousy over adora’s new friendships
i’m only me when i’m with you--young catradora/growing up in the horde
fearless (2008)
forever & always-- broken promise. need i say more
white horse-- catra’s resentment for adora’s hero complex
breathe-- mutual catra & adora--struggling to cope with the other choosing the opposing side
you’re not sorry--adora coming to terms w post s3 catra & having to accept her former best friend has gone too far this time
change-- post s1 victory for adora
speak now (2010)
the story of us--princess prom catradora vibes
mean--unfortunately.........could see the best friend squad singing this therapeutically & adora thinking of catra
better than revenge-- ‘stealing other peoples toys on the playground won’t make you many friends//i’m just another thing for you to roll your eyes at honey’....jealous catra really comes thru here
innocent-- feel like this could be applied to adora but more specifically catra losing herself and her innocence in this war/getting caught in the cycle of abuse shadow weaver set her in at a young age
if this were a movie-- adora’s naïve hope that catra might make the right choice one day
haunted-- ‘all this time you and i have walked a fragile line, never thought i’d live to see it break’, easily fits into adora leaving the horde, but def has the angsty vibes for ‘save the cat’
back to december--regret. longing. wishing u could take something back but knowing you really cant
enchanted--ok hear me out. not necessarily a ‘meet cute’ for them, but could def see this song playing at a princess prom post s5 and being a cute look for them over all.
red (2012)
treacherous--post ‘save the cat’, catra learning redemption is....something she Wants
the last time--post-portal. def reminds me of the scene where catra saves glimmer and apologizes to adora
sad beautiful tragic-- break up sadness
the lucky one--more adora becoming she ra/learning the truth of mara
i almost do--catra & adora missing each other on opposite sides of the war
come back...be here--^^
state of grace--end of/post s5
1989 (2014)
out of the woods--i mean..........those ladies entered the whispering woods in s1 on a stolen skiff and did not leave until the end of the series
all you had to do was stay-- aside from the title... “let me remind you this was what you wanted // you ended it// you were all I wanted //but not like this”. def catra yearning
i wish you would--all of the lyrics. all of them
bad blood--warrants no explanation
this love-- “when you’re young, you just run// but you always come back to what you need”......................the defense rests
clean--s4 adora accepting and coming to terms w catra’s decision
wonderland-- really captures the betrayal/hurt of s1 catradora
you are in love-- adora POV// subtle moments leading up to realizing she loves catra
new romantics--”we need love, but all we want is danger//we team up then switch sides like a record changer”
catra’s personal memoir reputation (2017)
i did something bad--a title that could (unfortunately for everyone else) summarize a large majority of catra’s decisions. the song is very justified/righteous anger/revenge. basically a ‘fuck you, i know i’m bad’ & embracing that. reminds me of her kicking sw & hordaks ass (the rebellion could never) and her just...war criming it up in the crimson waste
Look What You Made Me Do-- void!catra void!catra void!catra void!catra void!catra void!catra--
getaway car--could see this from adora’s perspective to catra solely for the whole leaving/betrayal bit. but might be more fighting for double trouble & catra’s relationship
dancing with our hands tied-- i mean...lyrically. everything. but esp ‘I'd kiss you as the lights went out//swaying as the room burned down//I'd hold you as the water rushes in//If I could dance with you again”
dress-- “i dont want you like a best friend”. period. end of sentence.
this is why we can’t have nice things--s1 promise feels. the lack of forgiveness, the shade. u know.
lover (2019)
cruel summer-- “i scream for whatever it’s worth, i love you--ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?” the heart. the longing. the ‘i dont want to keep secrets just to keep you’
the archer-- ‘who could ever leave me, but who could stay?’ + the rest of the song is v fitting for both catra/adora
afterglow--making up, admitting wrongs--catra perspective
miss americana & the heartbreak prince--idk just the narrative of the song reminds me of them
it’s nice to have a friend--whooooh boy this post is not about glimbow but this song works equally as well for them
daylight--enjoy the healing
lover--enjoy the healing pt 2
death by a thousand cuts-- warrants 0 explanation
folklore (2020)
finally
the 1-- definitley adora POV, reminiscing on maybe what they could have been. maybe in a world where catra never redeemed herself or they never reunited and adora watched her friends pair up/get married/build lives w each other, she might realize there is a whole in her heart. a part that’s missing and cant be explained, but she feels it every time she looks at glimmer&bow.
cardigan-- feels like catra writing a letter to adora. reflecting on the feelings of hurt and betrayal after time has passed and the anger fades
exile -- lowkey the premise of my fic but. ‘i’m not your problem anymore/ you were my crown/ now i’m in exile seeing you out’ catra was raised to feel like she was adora’s problem to fix. she feels cast aside by her for a majority of the series etc
my tears ricochet-- “i didn't have it in myself to go with grace//and you're the hero flying around saving face//and if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake?//cursing my name, wishing I stayed//look at how my tears ricochet” tswift explained this in the doc about how no one can hurt you like your best friend turned enemy. so i think in that sense this song works from adora’s perspective--but there’s so much bitterness and anger that i feel like it fits more from catra’s POV
seven-- “love you to the moon and to saturn//passed down like folksongs//the love lasts so long” i feel like this is so young/child adora and her feelings of protectiveness over catra. their bond through trauma and abuse
august--lmaoooooo i know. ok i KNOW what the deal is. i KNOW that cardigan, august and betty are a narrative story and really there are 3 POVs--james, betty & august. but i will do with that what i please. i just see catra’s pov from this song just as much as i see it for cardigan. her losing adora/feeling like adora doesn’t want her back or will choose other ppl over her.
this is me trying--can fit adora’s need to be everything for everyone/fear of failure--leading to burn out. also works for what i assume how catra’s redemption arc continued post s5. progress isn’t linear and this can show both of them struggling to recover from abuse
invisible string--if u strip out the imagery of taylor and her mans then sure
mad woman--i MEAN...is this not catra’s villain origin story? so often she was just poked/kicked/provoked into continuing down the dark path. not always by adora but regardless.
epiphany-- ‘with you i serve, with you i fall down’ reminding me of them both fighting/practicing/training together pre-s1 as well as them finally teaming up
betty--betty betty betty. the worst thing these two have ever done is what they did to each other. i see it more catra to adora, but it can go either way. gotta admire catra’s range for fitting into the role of betty, august + james... who else is doing it quite like her?
peace-- adora to catra. she can never not be she ra. is that enough for catra?
hoax--def more of a catra POV
evermore (2020?)
tbd......

Anyone ever think maybe Adora did get some brain damage from falling off the skiff, and that everything that happens is all in her head as a side effect?

I’m just gonna do this all in one post.
Glimmer is adorbs...
lol You’re grounded glimmer!!
I like the Princesses world better than Adora’s.
Catra is cool. I like her a lot.
Catra is so tsundere. She loves Adora. She also doesn’t think about ramifications of her actions. Hm.
There’s always some freaky woods where squadrons go in but never come out. Neat trope, but done a lot.
And of course, Adora falls off the skiff...ooh floating purple thing.
SWORD~
Adora: Oooh Shiny.
So is Adora supposed to be She-Ra from like a birth thing, or is she a “chosen one” now. Either way, fancy sword is now hers.
Lol attempted assassination is not an attempted assassination.
Lol the “I’m grounded” gag...What??
Arrow guy is a cutie pie...ok Bow. That's kinda generic...but I like it.
Hiding your friend from your mom. Glimmer’s teleportation powers are handy.
Aw, Catra laying down at Adora’s feet.
More shiny stuff, oh the sword’s back!
Glimmer and Bow see it too.
Because yelling is going to do something. These three fighting are actually kinda funny.
whose this lady? Light Hope? Interesting...
I don’t understand either.
Lol yeah, I like Glimmer.
The animation is a tad lackluster...ngl.
Omg...raiding party? This Hordak and the Horde are the bad guys...I know. but there soldiers don’t know. So...Ok, so they found Adora as a baby. They raised her to believe that Princesses were the bad guys...Interesting.
Glimmer is trying so hard. Bless.
Yes..you can do it Adora! Oh yeah..definitely a Chosen One scenario here.
Yeah..I think I’m going to like this.

Villains
Part Three
The freezing air burned as it collided with Catra’s furry face. She shivered in her blue blanket and her thick fur coat, she turned away, angled herself so that the snowflake peppered wind hit her flipped up hood. Her face was spared. The transporter flew so quickly Catra could barely see the condensation from her mouth as it was constantly pushed off backward. It was obvious Catra wasn’t in a good mood, that much was obvious by her grumpy face and crossed arms. In fact she was writhing with rage, which kept her warm enough in the cold climate. But that, was kind of the reason she went out onto the deck of the ship - to cool off. And partially to get some time alone away from her annoying teammates. The transporter was an upgraded model of the regular skiffs, but it wasn’t that much larger, roughly around the size of a yacht, maybe two. So there wasn’t much room inside under the deck, not much space to hide from the personal-space-invading Scorpia and her lung crushing hugs, or the overly talkative Entrapta. Even though the Drylian Princess was being uncharacteristically quiet and stationary during the trip. Just giggling and chuckling to herself as she read something on her data-pad.
She was furious, not only was she sent on this dumb, cold, mission, that wasn’t the worst part. Being away from The Fright Zone meant she was away from Shadow Weaver and that was always a positive. But everything changed, everything was different, Shadow Weaver was now the ruler of the Horde, she controlled everything now! She was even more insufferable. Because now she had to even look at posters in hallways of her ugly mug. She was everywhere. For Catra it was like living in a nightmare. When she was given the rank of Force-Captain by Lord Hordak months ago, she thought that things might’ve started to be looking up. But everything fell apart the day their trio tried to enact her plan. Well, Catra claimed to Hordak that manipulating the Black Garnet was her idea, and took the credit for it, when really it was Entrapta who stated she could do so and the only one who knew how to pull it off. But Entrapta didn’t seem to mind. No matter how hard she tried, no matter how high she climbed in the ranks, it seemed like she was always going to be under her, always number two.
Before she could’ve punched something her thought process was put on hold as the sound of the deck doors sliding open and a pair of heavy footsteps moving towards her. Then a new irritation gripped her, before she even turned around she knew who followed her outside. As she turned, her guess was proven right as towering over was Scorpia. The tall and broad scorpion wore a similar fur coat to protect against the cold, only several sizes bigger. Precariously pinned between her two huge pincers was a steaming mug of hot chocolate. The way the transport was heading and the direction the wind was blowing, the steam flew right back into the Princess’ face.
“Woaw, woohoo, man it’s freezing out here. I, uh, I know you like to be on your own, brooding. But uh, I got kinda worried, you out here, cold, and you could get a... well a cold. So to warm you up a little I brought you some hot choco!” She looked around for her right to her left and noticed nothing but a landscape of white, she could barely depict icy blue mountains on the horizon. But not much else. “Maybe next time they should send us out on a mission somewhere warm, huh?” Hehe... heh...” She looked at Catra hopeing to see something resembling a smile, no such luck. Catra agreed with the statement, she way better preferred a warm location, but at least she was away from Shadow Weaver.
Catra wanted to stay cool, stay broody, wanted to show no weakness. But also at the same time it was freezing, and the magicat really could’ve used that coco, and she didn’t want to admit it, but it was Scorpia’s begging puppy eyes that totally convinced her. The cat huffed and rolled her heterochromatic eyes to maintain her ‘bad girl’ reputation. But ultimately took the mug, against her instinct and better judgement she mustered out a “Thanks.”
Scorpia’s eyes lit up and smiled ear to ear, “Y- You’re welcome!” Catra turned her face away from Scorpia as she felt a slight blush rise on her cheeks and across her nose, and she would’ve rather face the harsh stinging snow and wind than show the slight hint, tint of red, to Scorpia. She would’ve never let her live it down. The scorpion-Princess cleared her throat, “Sooo... You wanna talk about it? The Shadow Weaver thing, I mean. I know you probably don’t! But! I- I’m here for you! Even if you just need to vent or rant or whatever.”
Catra took a sip, it was pretty good, and the warmth was a welcome intrusion. “No. No, I don’t.” Months ago everything was looking up, how did it all fall apart so quickly. And now she was back at the bottom of the food chain, miserable and angry. “But thanks for the offer... How long until we get there?”
“Two hours. Hour and a half, if we’re lucky and the weather clears up. We should make it before nightfall, that’s when the temperatures really drop. At least that’s what Entrapta estimates.”
“How is our Princess anyway? Quieter than usual.”
“Oh she’s looking through some of Hordak’s data from his Sanctum. She seems... captivated... Shame what happened with Lord Hordak.”
“Mmmhmm.”
“You know Shadow Weaver says he’s dead, and I mean we did see her kill him, but you know the weird thing about that? No one can find a body.”
“Huh, weird.” Catra took another sip from the mug, a long one this time, as she looked on. She might’ve known something about that.
---
Glimmer groaned, she was so freaking tired, she leaned against the chair, practically draped over it, looking like she melted down over it. Well, it wasn’t really a chair, it was three box crates positioned in a way to imitate a chair. It wasn’t comfortable, but the alternative was standing, of which she was tired, or laying down in a sleeping bag, but she wasn’t ready for that kind of embarrassment. She folded her arms and grunted to herself. Nobody heard it, and no attention was paid to her. She took another look around the Dragon’s Daughter III, or was it IV, maybe II. Didn’t really matter. She must’ve surveyed the deck about a hundred times by then, and the scene hadn’t changed much. Bow was watching and listening to the flamboyant SeaHawk, one boot above the other on a crate, his pointing finger was pointing to the sky at nothing really. And on the other side at the front of the boat stood a golden and white giant, flowing blonde hair, bellowing skirt, knee high boots, and short pants. All accompanied with beautiful ornate designs in the gold. Glimmer couldn’t see from where she sat, but her chest armour sported a golden design, something a cross between a flower and a star, with an ocean blue stone at its centre.
In her hand gripped was a broad sword with golden ornate detail extending from the hilt forming a beautiful cross guard. Another sapphire stone at its centre. That wasn’t just any sword, it was The Sword of Protection. And that wasn’t just any ordinary warrior, she was the mythic and legendary She-Ra, The Princess of Power. Her friend.
But Glimmer noticed there was something off about her friend today, she might’ve been the indestructible She-Ra, but underneath that extra magical layer of skin was Adora, just Adora. A girl that wasn’t indestructible. She was the hero of Etheria, its so called ‘saviour’. Adora didn’t like to be called that, it made the life she lived sound official. The fate of the entire world rested on her shoulders. Saying she was stressed or anxious was an understatement. Glimmer was contemplating walking up to her and asking her what’s wrong for about half an hour now. But she had no idea what to say, what Adora needed to hear. But hey, friendship was about trying.
Before the boredom could claim her she stood up and marched over to the golden giant woman. “Hey Adodo~. You good babe?” The small pink cotton-candy Princess gave a little nervous chuckle.
She turned around to face her small friend, and on her face as always was a bright warm smile. “Hey, Glim.” It was subtle, but it was there, in her eyes, there was a hint of tiredness, it looked like she was deep in thought and Glimmer  brought her out of it.
And to be honest Glimmer herself had a lot to think about. Glim felt like the Alliance was just reacting to the Horde’s attacks, they were too much on the defence and not enough on the offense. She approached her mother about that query, Glimmer proposed that the Princess Alliance should start going more on the attack, hit some key Horde outposts - Troop barracks, resource transports, and silos containing food, drink and medicine supplies. Cripple the Horde. But her majesty Queen Angella overruled the idea and stated they should priorities defending their own and their allies. And denied Glimmer’s request for more soldiers under her commanding. She was a Commander but sometime it felt more like a ‘well done sticker’ or a ‘second place ribbon’, than an actual rank. Angella said she ‘didn’t want to risk losing lives when it can be avoided’.
Coward.
That’s what Glimmer thought, but never had the bravery to actually say it to her face. But she had a feeling that the day would come when she’d oppose her mother, and insult her. And she knew the day was coming soon.
“Ah,” Adora waved her hand dismissively, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Penny for your thoughts?”
Adora looked like she was thinking about something and whether to say it, “I- It’s just the whole Shadow Weaver thing, ya know? The person who raised me now leads the Horde and I bet the Horde’s new priorities will be to bring me back in like before. I feel like I’m painting a huge target on anyone around me.”
“Adora, come on, don’t say that. We’re always under a huge target. We’re the Rebellion! Anybody who opposes the Horde is in danger. You make us stronger than ever.” She winked and gave her friend a little playful nudge.
“Heh, thanks Glimmer. I- I know that, but I can’t help but self-pity... mind me asking?”
“Shoot ahead.”
“Does Hordak seem off to you?”
“I mean yeah, but elaborate.”
“It’s just, I don’t know, he doesn’t seem like... Hordak.”
“Yeah, he’s way skinnier than I expected, like a skeleton.”
“It’s not even that. It’s... I don’t know, he’s not scary! He’s uncomfortable, he feels small, he’s sick... he’s just... some guy, just a person. After all my life seeing Hordak as this myth, this folktale, it’s hard to accept him as a person.”
“You think he’s a double, some trick by the actual Hordak? Maybe he knows the Shadow Weaver news will mess with you. There’s a lot of shape-shifters out there.”
“You know, a part of me wanted to believe that, but that part of me I left in the Fright Zone. I think that really is Hordak, I can’t know for sure, but I have a feeling... like a memory.” That last part of the sentence she whispered to herself, didn’t want to trouble Glimmer with things she herself wasn’t sure were real. She didn’t know what she saw, she could hardly make sense of the scene. She didn’t know if it was fake, a dream, her mind playing tricks on her. But there he was, his face, surprise and confusion written across it, big pointy ears, and big red eyes. She was looking up at him. It couldn’t have been a memory, could it? Adora often recalled her earliest memory being that of Catra arriving at the Fright Zone, in that applesauce cardboard box. The image she so struggled to perceive didn’t have Catra in it so it had to have happened before meeting her since the two were inseparable all their lives. That would’ve lined up with Hordak’s story of finding her as a baby and bringing her in. Adora didn’t mention any of that to Glimmer or anyone else. She changed the subject, “But anyway, how about you? How’s the long journey treating you? Enjoying the weather?”
Glimmer couldn’t help but chuckle, “So infinitely jealous of that impenetrable magical skin that resists temperature change, this cold is unbearable. And past the boredom and the shanties the trip is only horrible. Hehe. I’m actually glad my mum allowed us to deploy so far away.”
“How do you mean?”
Glimmer sighed, managing to sound disappointed and infuriated, “I love my mum, and I get her, but I really think she’s not in the right here. She’s not the right kind of leader for our war. She’s too scared. She just sits there in the castle alone doing nothing, being useless. And the Horde is rolling over us! She’s making me feel useless.”
“Glim-”
“I said that I get her, and I do! But I disagree. Plus, I feel like she sent us off on this excursion just to get us out of the way. Remember before we left she said something about wanting to talk to Hordak on her own. I still feel like she’s treating us like kids, sending us away when she has adult business to take care of, she doesn’t trust us with things!”
She-Ra shrugged, “She’s the Queen, of course she wants to personally talk to the ‘Hordak’. As for the Horde winning the tug of war for Etheria, it’s always hard to say, but we’re doing well, Glim! Last time I checked the Horde didn’t have any elemental meta-etherians. We’re in a good position.”
“...When I got captured by Catra, she was going to give herself up! Like a coward! It was you and the rest of the team that came for me! Broke into The Fright Zone for me! And she didn’t even go with you! She just sat there in that stupid castle and. Did. Nothing!...” That drew the attention of both Bow and SeaHawk, they all looked at her, worried. Adora wanted to place a hand on her shoulder, but Glimmer turned around and returned to the inside of the yacht, they didn’t talk for the next two hours.
---
Entrapta scratched Imp’s chin as he tried to fall asleep wearing a small custom fur coat, he lay there next to her keyboard. Entrapta had her feet kicked up on the desk as she looked through slides and pages of data. It was safe to say she was captivated, the screens displayed the contents from Hordak’s Sanctum, she didn’t understand everything she saw which was why she was fascinating. So much to learn, theorise about, in one place. Most things she understood, up coming upgrades to stun-weaponry, updates to troop schedules and routines, new concepts for the Horde tanks and skiffs. Once she got past all that basic stuff that’s when things got interesting.
Some sort of schematics for what Entrapta would call an exo-skeleton armour, she immediately spotted several aspects where she could’ve improved it. Then there were files under even heavier encryption, no major obstacle for Entrapta of course. She recognised the terminology and the diagrams, it talked about cell division, mitosis, and depictions of chromosomes being ‘tampered with’. It looked like he was playing with them, putting them in different sequences, altering them, seemingly creating new chromosomes. It was quite amazing, really. Cloning. Next there was the real enigma, a strange power generator, the question she had was what needed that amount of power? The armour would overheat, and that amount unnecessary for the cloning process. It must’ve been for a different project, one not listed in the files. He must’ve been very paranoid. The only thing she managed to find on this mysterious project was some set of random co-ordinates... It couldn’t be, could it?
Just then a beep went off from a panel on her right, startling Imp. The nap was ruined. She tried to pat him and calm him down, but it was too late, the little batling had taken flight. The noise signalled that the lasers and drills had finished excavating. The First Ones tech piece was quite large, largest piece she’d ever seen. It resembled an enlarged coin with their ancient alien writing on it in neon purple. Great colour, Entrapta noted. As if on cue Scorpia entered the room. With her she brought a huge rug which she easily carried under arm as she whistled to herself, while avoiding eye contact. Entrapta didn’t know what was rolled up in the rug, probably a person, judging by the rug’s length. It didn’t matter. Entrapta had more important things to take care of. She moved out to check on the FOs tech without saying anything.
Scorpia rushed into the supply closet, closed the door behind her, and placed her back against the door, double checked if anyone was watching through the slit in the door. And she unrolled the rug, throwing Adora out on the cold floor. The Adora in front of Scorpia wasn’t the same Adora she saw on the battlefield, a determined, powerful warrior. No, this one acted like a drunk. It was because of the effect of the corrupting agent, but still. She sighed, “What am I going to do with you? You keep making everything worse! Catra was already in a bad mood because of all that Shadow Weaver taking over stuff, and now you show up!”
“So all that stuff with mama Weaver is true? No way! Hordak was telling the truth.”
“Hey, hey, woaw, woaw, Hordak’s alive!?”
“Yeah, we got that skinny son of a bat in a prison cell in BrightMoon, well it’s not really a prison it’s a spare room for guests, hehe, but shhhh don’t tell Glimmer’s hot mum I said that.... Who are you?”
“Oh no, this isn’t good. Shadow Weaver will freak! Me and Catra are gonna get in so much trouble... unless... she never finds out.” Scorpia looked above to see a snoozing Imp attempting to hang upside down, unfortunately for the boy Scorpia grabbed him with haste. “Hey baby satan bat! Tell Adora’s friends she’s in here. They can get in through a back door. Get them out of here! And I promise all my granola ration bars are yours.” With a smirk he flew off.

Old Scars
summary: Adora and Catra have a talk at their old favorite spot in the Fright Zone following the war.
Thirty minutes after Catra disappeared, Adora excused herself from the meeting to go find her.
It was hard being back in the Fright Zone. The last time they had been here hadn’t been easy, either, but somehow, now that the war was over, this was different. But it wasn’t like they had much of a choice. Scorpia was reclaiming her kingdom, and she needed help. Plus, there was the problem of an entire army of former Horde soldiers to deal with. Dozens of people raised just as Adora and Catra and Scorpia with nowhere to go and clueless on what to do. So they traveled back to their former home for a meeting about the issues in the Fright Zone. Catra had tensed up the second their feet touched the ground of the old Horde fortress, and remained that way throughout the meeting until she excused herself, saying she needed a minute alone.
Except she was gone for much longer than a minute, and Adora always worried about her when she got this way; quiet, stiff, hunched in on herself. The only good thing about the Fright Zone was that Adora knew her way around it like the back of her hand, and still remembered all of their old hangout spots. As she passed by some of them, she did a quick check, having no success, then continued on her mission. There was one place that they favored as cadets, and Adora had a nagging suspicion that she would find Catra there.
The spot was different than the last time she saw it years ago, right before she found the sword. When She-Ra healed Etheria and cleansed it of Prime, every rough edge and surface was blanketed by her magic and warmth, leaving behind grass and flowers and other wildlife that never ceased to take Adora’s breath away. It had reached the Fright Zone, a deeply scarred and hurt section of the planet, and now the place was overcome with beautiful plants that contrasted it’s former cruel shape.
Vines wrapped around the railing, flowers bloomed here and there, moss coated the ground, and birds chirped in the distance. Birds. In the Fright Zone.
Catra was perched in her usual spot on the railing, knees brought up to her chest and tail swishes back and forth, the way it did when she was deep in thought. How she had managed to not fall to her death by sitting that way yet was a mystery to Adora, who had always been clumsy and didn’t stand a chance against Catra’s perfect balance and impressive flexibility.
Adora moved forward slowly, making sure her footsteps were loud enough for Catra’s sensitive ears to pick up so she didn’t surprise her. Catra’s back straightened and grew tight the closer Adora got, but she didn’t say anything.
Adora came into her line of view, leaning forward on the railing and looking out at the changed scenery. “Hey.”
Catra’s tail flicked up to brush against Adora’s arm. “Hey,” she said, though she sounded miles away.
“Everything okay?” Adora wanted to reach out to her, put a hand on her back or lace their fingers together, but she hadn’t figured out just what was wrong with her yet, so she left her hands where they were on the railing.
“Isn’t it crazy how the last time we were here, the world was going to shit?” Catra murmured, gaze still fixed on the expanse of earth before them.
“Well, technically, that wasn’t real. The last time would’ve been before we stole that skiff,” Adora said, tone matter-of-fact. She shot a smile at Catra, but it dissipated when Catra didn’t return it, remaining stone faced. “Sorry.”
“You didn’t do anything.” Catra shook her head. “You’re not the one who nearly destroyed Etheria.”
Okay, so that must’ve been part of the reason for her mood. Adora bit the inside of her cheek. “Hey. We’ve been over this.” She meant for it to come out gently, but Catra’s ears still deflated.
“Yeah, yeah. I know.” She looked up at the sky. With the smog finally clearing out after years of nonstop machine use, the stars and moons were visible. Just barely, but they were there. “I made mistakes and I can’t change them, but I can choose to be a better person and make good choices, blah blah blah.” She closed her eyes and lowered her head. “That doesn’t really make it better.”
”No, I know.” Adora glanced down at their hands, inches apart. “Can I hold your hand?”
Catra eyed her and nodded, letting Adora take her hand and weave their fingers over one another. The war had ended weeks ago, but they were still trying to adjust to this new...whatever it was. They were dating, yes, but Adora felt like the term didn’t accurately describe their relationship. Often, they asked one another if it was okay to do something to make sure pre-existing boundaries existed or not. This was especially done when they were in public, as they were both unused to showing affection around others without the actions being frowned upon.
“Look around right now,” said Adora, following her own words and letting her eyes trail over the world before them. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
Catra pondered it for a moment. “Yeah. Because of you.”
“Because of us,” Adora pressed. “Because of the Rebellion. We did this.” But Catra still wasn’t convinced. “If I had told you three years ago that the Fright Zone could be pretty, would you have believed me?”
Catra scoffed. “No way. It’s still pretty ugly.”
“But not as ugly.” Adora nudged her lightly, earning her the smallest of chuckles.
“Yeah. It’s better, I guess.”
“This wouldn’t have been possible without your help.” Adora traced her thumb over Catra’s. “I know there’s a chance you’ll never forgive yourself for what you did, and I get it. What you did...it wasn’t right.” Catra’s grip tightened, so Adora quickly added, “But you’ve already done so much to make up for it.”
Catra was quiet.
“We all make mistakes, Catra.” Adora sighed. “Some bigger than others.”
“Understatement of the year,” Catra drawled.
“But...but we can let them dictate our lives, or we can make sure that we don’t let them happen again. We can try.” Adora leaned forward a little to search Catra’s face for any kind of sign. “And are you really going to let Glimmer or me or anyone else beat you at that?”
Finally, she got a smile out of Catra. “You’re such an idiot.” She paused, tail coming up to rest over their hands. “But thank you. You’re getting pretty good at that motivational talk stuff.”
“Really?” Adora grinned at her. “I guess I’ve been spending too much time with Bow, then. He’s the master at doing that, after all.”
Catra squeezed her hand and turned her head, teasing in her eyes. “You can dish it out, but you still can’t take your own advice sometimes.”
“Hey!” Adora laughed. “I’m trying just as much as you are.”
Their shoulders shook from giggling for a moment, then Catra’s smile faded.
“This place really did a number on us, huh?” she asked quietly.
“Yeah.” Adora’s smile turned grim. She brought Catra’s hand up to kiss the back of it, then sandwiched it between both of hers. “But it wasn’t all bad. Like this spot.” She nodded her head at the ground beneath them. “I don’t think I have any bad memories of this place.”
“Me neither,” agreed Catra after a moment.
“Remember that time we stuffed Octavia’s boots with brown ration bars and came up here to hide?” Adora said, remembering that day out of nowhere.
Catra snorted. “How could I forget? She was so pissed.”
Adora joined her in the laugh. “We saved up those bars for a week. I thought she was going to kill us.”
“She probably would’ve.”
Adora leaned her head on Catra’s shoulder as they laughed, then spent a few minutes trading some of their memories of their time at their favorite spot. Each one was positive and made their cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing too much.
“Hey, you know what else has changed about this place?” Adora glanced up at Catra, who had gone through a serious mood change, and was obviously in a better mood than from when Adora had found her.
“Hm?”
Adora waved their hands in front of them. “This. Us.”
Catra raised her free hand up and brushed at the wispies in Adora’s eyes. She leaned into her touch on instinct. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“You guess, huh?” Adora raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, shut up.” Catra tried to pull her hand from Adora’s face, but Adora grabbed it before she could, holding it right on her jaw. Maybe it was just the lighting, but Adora swore Catra was blushing, and a blushing Catra worked wonders for Adora’s ego.
“I love you,” she said, dismissing the idea to tease her girlfriend over her red face. It could wait until later, when they were home in Bright Moon.
Catra’s fingers caressed her cheek. “I love you, too.” Her thumb brushed over Adora’s lips, causing Adora’s breath to hitch in her throat. “Adora?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I kiss you?”
“Please.”
Adora’s heart fluttered when their lips pressed together, then did somersaults when they slanted together again, and again, and again. It was gentle, delicate, nothing more than a few sweet pecks that Adora would savor for the rest of the night. Adora had learned quickly following the war that one of the perks of admitting her feelings was that she got to kiss Catra all the time, and Catra was a really good kisser.
When they pulled apart, Adora hummed and peeked over her shoulder. “Do you want to head back down to the meeting? I think Scorpia said something about refreshments.”
Catra pulled Adora back to her, hopping down from her perch in the process to wrap her arms around her. “Can we stay up here for just a little longer? It’s...kinda nice.”
Adora slid her arms over Catra’s shoulders, leaning into her touch. Their foreheads rested against one another. “I think we can afford a few minutes.”

Heart of Courage Easter Eggs:
Chapter 1 -
Percy and Nerida are both references to Greek mythology with Nerida meaning 'sea nymph' and Percy being a reference to the PJO series...cuz water dieties...
Chapter 2 -
The 3-tier ice cream cake for Luna’s 9th birthday is a reference to the one shown in season 4 for Glimmer's coronation.
Chapter 3 -
Named after the corresponding episode in S4 for the relationship altering fight between Adora and Glimmer.
The game of 'Capture the Flag' in Entrapta’s Princess Arena is a blatant reference to the events (once again) of PJO, specifically the musical 😎
Marlena, the lead healer of Bright Moon, is named after Adora's mother from the original series.
Chapter 4 -
"Right here, Adora" <-After Adora wakes up from the sleeping spell is directly reminiscent of Mystacor in season 1.
Finding Eternia destroyed is also a bit of a reference to Alderaan's destruction in A New Hope.
The drawing Luna shows Adora can be seen in my animatic set to 'Waiting in the Wings (Reprise)'
The dagger Luna uses to attempt to remove her wings is the same one Adora kept under her pillow in the show.
The shirt Luna wears after the incident with wing holes in the back is in reference to @athetos oneshot about Glimmer's wings growing in.
Chapter 5 -
Ash telling Luna to stick her hand into the pedestal is an Indiana Jones/Uncharted joke
The spell that Casta describes to Luna is pulled from a fic by @definetlynotatimetraveler i.e. becca_the_quiet_one on ao3, and was actually the inspiration for most of HoC's plot!
'She-Runt' was a nickname created by @therodrigator6
Chapter 6 -
Adora's nightmare is meant to be reminiscent of the scene where Glimmer is trapped by the Black Garnet bonds while Shadow Weaver stands over her.
The scene where Ash and Willow find Luna stealing the sword is meant to be a callback to episode 1 of season 1 where Glimmer and Bow find Adora doing the same thing.
Chapter 7 -
Aster is meant to be a rival in the same way Catra and Adora were as kids, although Luna fills the role of Catra, feeling more slighted and owed her dues, etc. etc.
As they travel through the Whispering Woods, the kids spot a boulder with an 'X' marked into it, which is the same one Adora cut in season 1.
All pegasi are related to Swift Wind
Chapter 8 -
The title is a pun regarding bounty hunters but also a reference to FF7: Crisis Core
The monster that attacks Adora and Catra is the same spider thing from episode 1
The first trap Luna falls into in the Crimson Waste is quicksand, just like Glimmer.
The scene where the bounty hunters chase the kids through the Valley of the Lost was inspired by the Oasis scenes in Legend of Korra.
Chapter 9 -
The skiff chase is every Star Wars desert space race ever.
"I love you to the moon and back" was taken from @softpastel-lesbian bc it's the greatest thing I've ever read ever ;;-;;
Chapter 10 -
Artemis, along with Ember, Rhod and Frigg are all OCs taken from my Discord's rpg game and plopped into the story for fun.
Ruz and Zur is the same name reversed bc I hate coming up with OC names.
Chapter 11 -
Deathstalkers are references to Deathclaws from fallout 4 (sorry Kipo fans :((()
Violets in the Bright Moon gardens are in reference to @etherianfrigatebird AVEC
Not really an easter egg, but I listened to so m u c h POTC music for this chapter.
Seahawk praising Luna as they fight is in reference to his battle with Scorpia in 'White Out'

I promised i’d post something if I got 1000 followers so, here is my thank you.
This is the beginning to a multi-chapter canon au i’m playing around with, let me know what you think.
“Okay land here!”
Catra acquiesced, landing the skiff down in the clearing without too much fuss. They had come a long way since that first time— skidding into a grove of trees and utterly demolishing their skiff mere minutes after taking off.
Catra hopped off the skiff, struggling to contain the widening of her eyes. There was a gently crickling water fall over moss covered stones, dark evergreen trees that in the moonslight seemed to glow, and fireflies flitted around the underbrush making it seem like the ground itself was alive. The bushes that surrounded the clearing bloomed bright purples and navys, speckled with white dots like what Catra imagined stars might look like.
She waited for the other shoe— the ‘Shadow Weaver wants us to map out this section of the wood’ or the ‘I think I saw princess tracks around here’ or something. But Adora was quiet, she had plopped her bag on a tree stump and was sorting through it. “What’s here?” Catra asked at last, tired of waiting.
“I saw it on the way back from Thaymor,” Adora said. She pulled out a box, clearly mechanical, and set it on another stump. A little more fiddling and a quiet piping sound slipped from the box, something joyful and warm. Adora frowned, fiddling, and gradually the volume increased. Catra could still hear the gentle sounds of the creek, the quiet hooting of far away owls and the calls of bats, but now the piping had blended with it, adding melody to the orchestral sound of the wood. Adora smiled at her and held out her hand.
It was the first time she’d smiled since the mission to Thaymor.
Catra took her hand, letting Adora pull her closer until her other hand rested on Catra’s waist. They moved with exaggerated motions, letting the quick tempo excuse their left feet finding the other’s toes painfully. Big swings of their hands and giant dips and twirls that had Adora laughing and Catra calling her a dork and trying her best not to blush.
Adora pulled her back in from a big twirl, chest to chest, Catra’s eyes widened she tried to break eye contact — really she did — but she could only stare back. The music changed— piping transforming into sonorous fiddles and slow plucking. They could no longer hide their tenderness behind a quick tempo even if Catra’s heart beat ever faster.
Adora’s hand moved from Catra’s, now clutching either side of her waist. Painstakingly slow Catra shifted, her hands crawling up to behind Adora’s neck as they swayed. In the moonslight, with the fireflies, basking in stolen music from a conquered people, they were the last ones left at the end of the world. Just like they’d always said.
Adora’s eyes were still wide, playing at innocence, hiding her terror the same way Catra was. But Adora always protected her, since the day they’d met, it was Catra’s turn. She had to be brave. She leaned forward and Adora leaned forward and their eyes closed and —
A branch snapped.
