This AU version of Hades is intentionally portrayed as insecure and attached. Seeing as how it's not so easy for the God of the Dead to find a partner, I love the concept of him rushing into relationships or not wanting to do the whole 'casual fling' thing. He's a hopeless romantic who has high expectations for the people he gets into relationships with.

He's got many of these same issues of love-bombing and clinginess in LO too, but we're gonna actually try and, y'know... have it actually be a part of his character arc. Hades isn't wrong for being upset that Minthe stood him up - but he was wrong to assert his vision for their relationship onto her when it wasn't what she initially agreed to.

I have not done a self-insert for something for... it feels like 8-ish years.

Frankly, I can’t even remember the last time I had been so charmed by a movie that drives me to do a self-insert. I almost put too much thought into her and not bothered because I was just making a pirate OC (something I might do anyway with some of the scrapped ideas)

Before becoming a barmaid, Adelaide was a member of an All-Female pirate ship that set off right at the other side of the United Kingdom (what is now known as Liverpool) The allure of the adventure and potential “get-rich-quick” that comes from the pirate life is what drove her to leave her former life. She spent a long while overseas, doing her fair share of robbing people blind, having run-ins with other pirates and going as far as stealing a new pet from an island they visited (that being the Galapagos Islands). Adelaide had the time of her life, but wasn’t quite sure what happened on The Night. One minute, she was on the ship; the next minute, she was in a hospital bed in an entirely different town. She was told she was found near the docks of Bristol and was quickly rushed to see the nearest doctor, who happened to be Doctor Livesey. While grateful for having her life saved, she feigned not knowing how she ended up in the sea in the first place to Livesey, not wanting to go to prison. He seemed to believe her, and offered to help her until she gets better and see if she can find work in town. Adelaide ended up at a inn near the city that was looking for a barmaid. After finally getting some decent food, shelter and a stable job, she seems to forget her time sailing across the seas... That is, until she sees a familiar face limping around the town, someone she recognized from another crew...

tumblr blackout proposal

tumblr mobile has steadily become near unusable these past few updates. not just from a user experience perspective (which is important enough in itself) but also from an accessibility perspective.

examples include the new way the image viewer works (if you can call it "working"), the tumblr live button replacing the profile button, and that newly created blogs will be forced to have their main dashboard tab be the 'for you' page.

the demands of the protest would be along the lines of:

reverse the recent image viewer update

scrap the new users 'for you' page default setting

let us turn off tumblr live indefinitely

increase efforts against spam / porn bots

make reporting abuse and hate speech as easy as reporting as reporting spam

let us go nuts show nuts again... for real this time

remove flashing ads, including not accepting blaze campaigns for posts with flashing in them

commit to improving usability and accessibility, and listening to users!

to protest against these usability issues, and inspired by the recent reddit blackout, i propose a 48 hour blackout (where you don't use tumblr at all). preferably of both mobile and web (since web has problems too) but mobile is the focus here.

[edit: a 'blackout' is when you don't log in, or interact with the site at all, for [x] amount of time.]

this marks the end of pride month (for the "queerest place on the internet") and the start of disability month (since accessibility is a massive issue here).

Depression has been kicking me in the butt lately so I decided to make a little pill bug friend for myself using this pattern by @livvi3love. I changed a couple details to fit my own preferences (like sewing the legs rather than using felt) and I'm very happy with the result!
