I've seen many posts going around about how to keep yourself safe at protests. And this can be useful information, and I'm glad it's being disseminated.
But I think they have the side effect of making going to a protest seem scarier and more dangerous than it often actually is.
Of course, this varies a lot depending on the type of protest, who you are, and where you are. If you are somewhere protests have been declared illegal (like France) if you are within a demographic targeted by the police, if you taking direct action of some sort, take what precautions you need to. And if you are engaged in civil disobedience, and intentionally getting arrested, you should be working with the organizers and other protesters to do it as safely and effectively as you can. But...
Don't let these warnings scare you away from marching. It's inspiring, and it's usually safe.
I'm white and in the USA, so my experience is specific to here. But I have gone solo to protests. I leave my phone on. I take picture of signs and crowds from the up and and the back (never faces!) and share them to social media to inspire other people to join. I wear tshirts with slogans. Most of the people I march with wear distinctive clothing, with faces unmasked and tattoos uncovered. Protesters of all races. Elderly people with canes, parents pushing strollers, people in wheelchairs or with other mobility aids, eight year olds leading chants, big-eyed toddlers. I've been to many, many protests and never once was tear gas used. The only time I was arrested it was on purpose.
I'm not saying this doesn't happen. It does! The police are there, and they're not hanging around to keep us safe. But the organizers are working to keep us safe. And if the march is big and publicly advertised, they're not intending to do direct action. So really, you can just show up and march. There is added safety in numbers, It is invigorating and inspiring to be surrounded by people all fighting for the same thing, all chanting together.
Here's what I've been bringing to marches:
Backpack
Comfortable walking shoes
Mask
An extra jacket/sweatshirt
Water bottle & granola bars
Sunscreen (usually applied ahead of time)
Sunglasses & hat (or raincoat & umbrella, as the weather demands)
Phone, wallet, keys. I haven't been changing these in any way from how I usually carry them.
The small toiletries kit I usually carry with me.
That's it! Basically whatever I'd want for a day of walking around the city. You could also make a sign with marker on cardboard to bring with you, but often you'll find someone giving out signs. And you don't need it, your presence is enough.

Amoreena | chapter thirteen
Tumblr media
Chapter Thirteen
main summary: Heaven is a real place and it's located exactly 14.6 miles away from the FBI, Quantico Headquarters. Off behind a small park, under a fantastical willow tree surrounded by wildflowers, in every colour young minds can imagine.
Don't forget, heaven also comes with angels.
Chapter Warnings: fluff like unbelievably fluffy!
word count: 6.1
here's the playlist for the fic, the last song in the playlist if looped will lead right into Amoreena at the beginning and it works pretty well timing-wise if you like to listen while you read !!
from the beginning <3
All their bags were packed by Friday morning, Y/N and Amoreena waking up extra early with excitement for the weekend ahead of them, and they didn’t even know what was going to happen yet.
Y/N made sure everything was packed and ready for a 3rd time on Saturday morning, right before they left on the trip; making sure they had sunscreen and aloe vera, all her medicine and ginger ale by the pack for her random bouts of morning sickness that lasted all, day, long... And their dresses and his suit hanging behind the driver's seat, beside Amoreena, they all piled into Y/N’s car and took off down the road on their adventure.
Amoreena was awake for the first half of the 9-hour trip, singing like crazy as they drove through Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York, it was so amazing she couldn’t stop cheering the whole time. It was more than she’s ever seen before, even though they lived so close to New York, she’s never been through it before.
Once they arrived in Rhode Island, Spencer pulled over at the closest gas station to make sure the girls were all prepared and ready for the big surprise he had for them. They filled the car, used the restroom and bought some lemonade before getting back into the car, he turned in the driver's seat to see Amoreena and Y/N better, looking at their wide eyes memorizing the calmness in their faces before he told them.
He didn’t want them to freak out too much, he was worried about Y/N’s blood pressure and how loud she might scream and any stress that a situation like this could put on her body. He’s seen how people react to Taylor Swift, he just didn’t know how they would.
“Now, I'm only telling you so you don't freak out," he repeated the same worry she had when she broke the news of the baby, "I didn’t have to rent a place on the water because my friend lives up here, so we’re going to stay in her guest house,” he explained it simply.
“Rossi's wife?” Y/N asked, confused about who it could be and if she knew this woman yet.
“No, actually I think you might know her, her name is Taylor?”
“No,” she shakes her head furiously, “no, nope, there's no way you did this, Spencer Walter Reid I am not kidding I’m going to pass away if I see her.” She's holding both her hands in fists as she tries to stay calm, closing her eyes quickly before letting out a deep sigh.
“Taylor who?” Amoreena yells, undoing her seatbelt and standing between their seats, she almost jumps into his lap as she leans over and grabs a fistful of his shirt, “Taylor WHO?”
“Go get in your seat and I’ll show you,” he teases, watching her follow orders and get back in the seat as quickly as possible, shouting at him to drive the second he hears the seatbelt click again.
Y/N is completely speechless for the next 20 minutes of the drive, eyes wide and a hand on her stomach as she stares out the front window. She’s like a statue, not able to hear anything Amoreena is saying but that doesn't stop her from going on and on with her stories.
“Mom!” She’s finally able to break her out of the haze, “pass me your phone!”
“Yeah,” she doesn’t even question it, handing her the phone back to the antsy 7-year-old so she could continue her internal panic.
They see her house on the hill as they approach, “holy shit,” Y/N whispers as Amoreena turns on the last great American dynasty, knowing exactly where they were going.
Taylor asked for his licence plate number and car model when they were emailing, letting her gate guy know to let Spencer right in so he could keep it a secret. But they knew the house, there was no point in not telling them. Y/N looked a little relieved that he gave her the time to freak out alone and not as soon as they crested the hill.
Her driveway felt never-ending as they got closer and closer, Amoreena was still in disbelief as she squealed in the back seat, hands flailing as she tried to calm the excitement inside her body with her favourite stim.
Then Taylor walked out into the front yard and Y/N was a mess. Crying as she waved her hand in front of her face, not wanting to be a mess in front of Taylor fucking Swift, “I told you nothing crazy! How did you do this?”
“Yes, but I said 'define crazy’ and you didn’t,” he reminds her with a cheeky smile.
She shoves him, “I didn’t think you could do this?!”
Once they’re parked the door automatically unlocked, and as much as spencer hated that non-safety feature, he's glad Amoreena can get out quickly before she's screaming bloody murder. Amoreena is out the door and in Taylor’s arms faster than they’ve ever seen her move, she should be a track star. It almost knocks Taylor to the ground as she takes her in, holding the sweet little girl against her chest with the biggest smile on her face. Amoreena snuggles right into her, with a hand on her cheek and her other arm wrapped behind her neck. She couldn't be any closer to her, it was like she was her favourite relative who she hasn't seen in a while.
Amoreena is talking her ear off already by the time Spencer’s helping Y/N out of the car and walking her to Taylor, she’s holding his hand like she’s going to pass out or something, “and this is my mom Y/N and my dad Spencer but somehow you know him already,” Amoreena introduces her.
“Hi, Y/N, it's a pleasure to meet you, Spencer's told me a lot about you.” Taylor’s sweet voice saying her name alone makes her stutter out a bunch of nonsense, not to mention the fact Spencer's been talking to Taylor fucking Swift about her.
Amoreena moves out of the way for Taylor to wrap her up in a hug, and Y/N cries harder than he’s ever seen on her shoulder, “thank you,” is all she can say, it’s frightening to Amoreena at first to see her mom cry like that but she knows her mom just loves Taylor like family.
What she doesn’t know is just how much Taylor saved her life. If she didn’t have someone to listen to, someone to take the pain and replace it with hope, she wouldn’t be here and by default neither would Amoreena. Spencer owed everything to Taylor swift at this point, she was a blessing in his life that he took for granted. Not realizing until that moment just how much she meant to him as well now.
“Sorry,” Y/N finally says as she pulls off her, “I’m pregnant, I can’t help it.”
Taylor’s hands fly right to her stomach, “holy crap, you never told me that she’s pregnant in your emails, oh my god!” She’s genuinely so happy for them, “how far along are you?”
“6 weeks on Sunday,” she smiles, feeling like herself again even though it’s incredibly strange to be telling Taylor before her parents even knew. “No one really knows, it’s all very new but when you know, you know… y’know?”
For a woman with an English language degree, she sure knew how to make a sentence, all of them laughing at the words she chose, but they understood.
“We should have used paper rings!” Amoreena yells, holding her hand over her eyes in disbelief as she shares her head with a sigh, she couldn’t believe she forgot that song existed.
It made Taylor laugh, scooping the little one up in her arms and starting the walk inside.
“Well come on in, I’ve got a big lunch spread ready for us and then we can go to the beach for the ceremony whenever you want this weekend, does that sound good?” Taylor is beyond excited to make new friends, much like Amoreena, they got along famously.
“Where are the cats? Do they live here or in LA or Nashville?” Amoreena changed the topic in the form of a yes and proving just how much she knew about Taylor.
“They’re here, Olivia and Benjamin will probably find us soon, Meredith isn’t very open to new friends now that she’s an old lady,” Taylor explained as she set Amoreena down in the entryway, bending down to be at her level and pointing off into the living room, “oh, see, there one is!”
Amoreena saw one of them laying on the floor under a sunny spot, running to it and petting it gently, “hi Benjamin, I loved you in the ME video,” she whispers as she pets him, making Taylor swoon.
“She’s amazing,” Taylor swooned, “I can’t wait to have one.”
“You should!” Y/N agreed, reaching to take Taylor's hand on impulse, and Taylor held it back with a smile, “oh that would be so wonderful, I can just imagine the beautiful stories you’ll create when you discover what it’s like to love someone how your mom loves you.”
Taylor’s smile was priceless, "that's the best way to think about it," she beamed at Y/N the way Spencer did, she had that effect on people. They followed her into the dining room, taking a seat near each other and digging into all the food Taylor made for them.
“Ah,” Amoreena said as she finally joined them, sitting on her knees on Taylors nice antique chairs. “Shark coochie,” she whispers the words to herself, not able to stop her mind from repeating it, but still not wanting Taylor to hear it in case it was inappropriate. She was incredibly well-mannered for someone who had a hard time reading social queues.
“It’s a hard word to say,” Taylor agreed, making her feel less awkward. Spencer may have told her about her autism in advance, wanting his little girl to be respected by everyone she met, for who she truly was, “my mom called it a coochie spread once, actually, she's going to be over tomorrow for father's day.”
"Yes! Oh, I love Andrea," Amoreena laughed at how cool this day was, smiling at Taylor the way she smiled at him that first morning at breakfast like she just found yet another person to love. “You’re so wonderful, Taylor.”
“Oh, thank you, you're pretty enchanting yourself,” she smiles, “I take it you’ve known about me for your whole life?”
“Yep,” she smiled, reaching for a chocolate-covered strawberry and taking a huge bite, covering her mouth before she continued, “I was born a month after Red came out, November thirteenth, it really is a lucky number now, mom says so at least.”
“It is!” Taylor agreed with a smile, “I have some markers, do you want to wear matching 13’s today?”
“Mom, can I colour on my hand?” She turns so fast Spencer thinks she’ll get whiplash.
“Yeah, go for it!” She agrees, spreading cream cheese on a croissant and layering tomatoes on top, definitely pregnant.
So Taylor gets a marker and both their left hands now have matching numbers. Amoreena asks to take a million photos, eventually just taking Y/N’s phone from her, permanently, to take photos of all her favourite things around the house.
She runs off with the cats at a certain point, giving Y/N a chance to thank Taylor without tiny ears listening in. “Can I get really emotional and tell you how much you mean to me or is that too weird for our first chat?”
“Not weird at all, knowing you’ve used my music to raise that beautiful child makes me love you just as much, I’d love to hear why you picked me, of all musicians, to show her how to love,” Taylor replies, as regal and kindly as humanly possible.
“My first fiancé, Stephen, he was actually like an angel and our first kiss was quite literally in the rain, but he passed away in 2010,” she explained it with a smile so Taylor knew it wasn’t a touchy subject anymore, “I bonded with Fearless in a way I can’t even describe to you, it’s my life, he was my superstar, and white horse, I mean come on, I can’t tell you how many times I cried to that after he died but it helped me not feel alone. I wouldn’t be who I am without Fearless, and then Speak Now was there for me when I needed a good cry, Last Kiss really broke me but it wasn’t until Lover came out that I realized I could find someone again, and it’s always just like you released things as I needed them like you were helping me through all the bad things,” she’s never even told Spencer all this, it was special to him that he got to give her this moment.
“When you re-released it with the vault songs, I met Spencer literally a month later. I cried my eyes out to you all over me, but That’s When makes me think of Spencer and now the whole album has a new memory in my heart that’s better. It's just like why you re-released it, to replace the bad things that happened that took all the happiness out of something you cared so much about." Y/N took a second to breathe, shaky as she got to the end of her rant that she seemed to have prepared in the 20 minutes before she had to talk to her.
"I love you, honestly. You’re my best friend and you didn’t even know me then, but you’ve held my hand through it all, so thank you,” she cried a little, holding her belly with one hand as she tried to hold the tears in.
Taylor was out of her chair and in Y/N’s arms within seconds, crying into her arms as she held her. She rubbed Y/N’s back as she cried too, “I’m so sorry that happened, but I’m glad I could be there.”
“Do you want to be this baby's godmother?” She asks on impulse without even asking Spencer if he’s okay with it, he was, it made him laugh.
“Eleonora Taylor Reid,” Spencer says from across the table, making them both turn to him with wide eyes.
“Yes,” Y/N agrees fast, “that's the name if it’s a girl, if it’s a boy he can be Taylor as well?”
“Holy shit,” Taylor smiled wide, “yes, I want to come to visit the farm and buy them baby gifts and throw you a baby shower! I inadvertently helped make them so it’s only fair.”
“Hopefully she gets your voice too, Y/N,” Spencer adds and Y/N shoots him a panicked glance, “it’s the Taylor legacy to be a good singer.”
“You can sing?” The question Y/N feared coming past Taylor's lovely vocal cords, almost on queue.
Y/N can't help but glare at spencer, he had too many tricks up his sleeve and she was at her limit.
“Yes,” Y/N finally answers, “I was going to go to theatre school, but I switched to become a Librarian, I’m not good with crowds or competition and that's basically what the industry depends on. I like the quiet, telling stories on paper is just as easy as singing it to a crowd.”
“That's fair,” Taylor agreed, “would you and Amoreena like to sing some song with me? I have my guitar or the piano? I’m not used to having new friends over without sharing at least 1 song with them. I’m sure you’ve seen my listening parties?” She was really trying to convince her to sing, Spencer knew why and what she had planned.
Amoreena came running in then, “I can play piano too, can we do the long live new year's day from the tour movie?” She rests her hands on Taylor's arm, looking up at her with the biggest puppy dog eyes.
“Of course, come on,” she says taking Amoreena’s hand and rushing into the piano room. “Here, we’ll record it too,” she offered, setting her phone up on the music stand to capture the moment forever.
They sat side by side on the bench, Amoreena showing her how she could play the opening perfectly and surprising Spencer. He knew they had a piano at home, he’s just never seen her play it before.
“She has perfect pitch,” Y/N bragged, “she can play a song after hearing it once.”
“Really?” Spencer had no idea, unbelievably proud of her as he listened to her play.
She’s quietly playing the intro to Long Live as Taylor watches, joining in with the harmony of New Year's Day, “this one reminds me of my mom and dad.”
“Does it?” Taylor coo’s, smiling at her softly as Y/N tries not to cry beside Spencer.
“They’re the knight and the princess of our kingdom,” she explained before the two of them started singing the words together, like they always have, only Taylor was beside her and not just on the TV.
“I said remember this moment, in the back of my mind, the time we stood with our shaking hands, the crowds in the stands went wild,” Amoreena’s tiny voice lead-in, fearlessly as she played away.
“We were the Kings and the Queens, and they read off our names, the night you danced like you knew our lives would never be the same... You held your head like a hero, on a history book page... It was the end of a decade, but the start of an age,” Spencer couldn’t help but cry as she sang with Taylor.
This was on the concert movie, he showed her after school, this song came on and she was silent, listening to the words as she stared at him and then back at the TV. Her mind was connecting little dots, making a story about her mom and dad being the king and the queen, it all made sense now.
“Long live the walls we crashed through, how the kingdom lights shined just for me and you, I was screaming long live, all the magic we made and bring on all the pretenders, I’m not afraid,
Long live all the mountains we moved, I had the time of my life, fighting dragons with you, I was screaming long live, that look on your face, and bring on all the pretenders, one day, we will be remembered,”
Their fingers moved in sync on the keys as they harmonized almost perfectly, she wasn’t kidding about Amoreena having perfect pitch. She knew all the words and sang them almost louder than Taylor.
“And hold on to spinning around, confetti, falls to the ground. May these memories break our fall…”
The piano changes, the cords softer as they move into a new song, smiling at her mom and dad like she knew something. She had no idea what happened the night of the fake wedding, just that they had a party without her.
“And hold on… To spinning around… Confetti… Falls to the ground…”
Spencer wraps his arms around Y/N then, resting his chin on her shoulder as they sway to the tune, she’s barely whispering the words beside him as she smiles as her baby.
“There's glitter on the floor after the party, girls carrying their shoes down in the lobby, candle wax and Polaroids on the hardwood floor, you and me from the night before, but… Don’t read the last page, but I stay when you're lost, and I'm scared and you're turning away. I want, your midnights, I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day,”
Y/N’s hands rest on top of Spencer’s, she squeezes them three times, right before the next lyric.
“You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi, I can tell that it's gonna be a long road. I’ll be there if you're the toast of the town, babe, or if you strike out and you're crawling home,
Don't read the last page, but I stay, when it’s hard or it’s wrong or we’re making mistakes. I want, your midnights, but I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day,”
“Hold on, to the memories, they will hold on to you,” the two of them chanting along with Taylor in beautiful harmony, Spencer felt like he was in heaven among the angels, but for real this time. “And I will hold on to you…”
The piano is so soft, it’s just Amoreena’s fingers hitting them as Taylor goes silent, letting her take the lead with a soft smile, “Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh, I, could recognize anywhere. Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh, I, could recognize anywhere.”
They stop for just a moment for Amoreena to smile up at Taylor, just like the break in the concert, “I really do love you,” she reminds them all before playing again.
“We love you, too, sweet girl,” Taylor replies for them using the same nickname for her because it was the truth. She was the sweetest girl, that Amoreena.
“There's glitter on the floor after the party, girls carrying their shoes down in the lobby, candle wax and Polaroids on the hardwood floor. You and me forevermore, don't read the last page, but I stay when it’s hard or it’s wrong or we’re making mistakes and I want, your midnights, but I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day,”
“Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you,” the girls all chant together, swaying back and forth to the rhythm before taking different parts in the song like they’ve planned it before.
“And Long live,” Taylor takes the one song, while Amoreena takes the other.
Please don't ever become a stranger…
The walls we crashed through..
Whose laugh I could recognize anywhere…
I had the time of my life
Please don't ever become a stranger…
With you…
Whose laugh I could recognize anywhere…"
Amoreena plays the rest, smiling wide at the best day of her life. Meaning every single word she’s saying. “And Long live, the walls we crashed through. I had the time of my life… With you…” Amoreena ends with a few extra notes, making Taylor smile as she held her in a side hug.
She turns back to the piano then, starting to play Amoreena by Elton John. “No way..” Y/N gasps, before getting ready to sing along with all the confidence in the world, alongside Taylor Swift of all people.
“It’s just that; Lately, I've been thinking, how much I miss my lady, Amoreena's in the hayfield, brightening the daybreak,” Taylor changes some of the words, much to Y/N surprise.
“Livin’ like a lusty flower, runnin’ through the grass for hours, rollin’ through the hay, oooh, like a puppy child! And when it rains, the rain falls down… washing out the cattle town… and she's far away somewhere… in her eiderdown… And she dreams of crystal streams, of days gone by when we would lean… Laughing, fit to burst, upon each other…”
Y/N turns to Spencer then, singing to him softly as she wraps her arms around him and sways her hips to the song, pressing against him like they were in the movie Dirty Dancing, something she’s always wanted to do, clearly, with the smile on her face as she sings.
“I can see you sittin’, eatin’, apples in the evenin’. Fruit juice, flowing slowly, slowly, slowly down the bronze of your body. Livin’, like a lusty flower, runnin’ through the grass for hours, rollin’ through the hay, oooh, like a puppy child.”
Amoreena’s voice was the loudest in the chorus, this was her song after all. She belted it out like it was made for her.
“And when it rains, the rain falls down! Washing out the cattle town! And she's far away somewhere… in her eiderdown! And she dreams of crystal streams, of days gone by! When we would lean, laughing, fit to burst upon each other…”
Spencer knew the words as well, who didn’t? It was Elton John's best song. He hugged Y/N, snuggling into the crook of her neck as they twirled in Taylor Swift's living room, swaying with her, forgetting they weren’t alone for a moment.
“Oh, if only I could nestle, in the cradle of your cabin. My arm's around your shoulder, oh… The window wide and open, while the swallow and the sycamore, whoa! Are playing in the valley. Oh, I miss you, Amoreena, like the king bee misses honey!”
“And when it rains, the rain falls down! Washing out the cattle town! and she's far away somewhere… in her eiderdown! And she dreams of crystal streams, of days gone by when we would lean! Laughing, fit to burst upon each other, oooh!”
Amoreena and Taylor playing the iconic piano solo together, Y/N can’t help but move in closer to watch over her little girls shoulders.
“Lately, I've been thinking… How much I miss my lady… Amoreena's in a cornfield, brightening the daybreak. Livin’, like a lusty flower! Runnin; through the grass for hours! Rollin’ through the hay, woah! Like a puppy, like a puppy, child…” Y/N’s voice loud enough to be on the recording Taylor was making as the song ended.
Taylor stopped it then, just as Y/N swore, “holy shit, that was the coolest thing that’s ever happened in my whole life.”
“Mom,” Amoreena looked at her like she broke the law or something, “you don’t swear in front of her…” she mumbled.
Taylor laughed, wrapping her up in another hug, “have you heard champagne problems? It’s okay for big kids to swear here,” she teased her.
They laughed like they were family like they’ve been there before and were always meant to return. Something just clicked with them, and without a doubt, they’d be returning. Taylor Swift of all people slipped right into their little life, filling the shoes of big sister, best friend and coolest aunt in the world all in one day.
It was the most perfect afternoon.
Just before the sunset, they all changed into their wedding attire. Meeting out on the beach for their small, extremely intimate wedding ceremony with miss Taylor Swift. Getting it out of the way so they could have the whole weekend for whatever Taylor had planned for them. She said she had a few surprises up her sleeve still.
They filled out all the paperwork required on Taylor's kitchen table beforehand, she had all the right documents from when she registered to ordain online. All they had to do was submit it at town hall and they’d be legally married.
But it didn’t matter to them, this was enough.
Taylor and Amoreena stood side by side at a homemade arch on the beachfront that Taylor owned, waiting patiently for Spencer and Y/N to walk down the fake aisle, hand in hand. They couldn’t stop smiling as they saw Amoreena at the end, a big smile on her face as she bounced with excitement.
They reached the end, turning to each other, Amoreena took Y/N’s bouquet, it was her duty as maid of honour and best man.
“Spencer and I have been emailing for 2 weeks about today, he’s been filling me in little by little about you both as he got to know you, I’ve really gotten to see his love for you in the form of letters,” Taylor described with a large smile on her face.
Y/N looks at him with an open mouth, shocked as she shakes her head in disbelief at him. “You’re kidding, is she who emailed you when we had lunch 2 weeks ago?”
Spencer nodded with another cheeky smile, “she emailed me as you told me not to plan anything too crazy.”
Y/N just laughed at the insanity, “sorry Taylor, please continue.”
“It’s okay,” she laughed along, “it’s actually kind of interesting how Amoreena picked long live and New Year’s Day to sing because from what I’ve learned about you both, the intermission poem from that tour really was written for you, somehow. Almost like by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance…”
Y/n’s eyed do that thing they always do when she’s remembering something she’s heard before, finding the exact filing cabinet in her mind and opening it. She finds the words.
“When she fell, she fell apart. Cracked her bones on the pavement she once decorated as a child with sidewalk chalk,” she starts the poem with a small nod, letting Taylor continue the monologue in the form of vows.
“When’s she crashed, her clothes disintegrated. And blew away with the winds that took all of her fair-weather friends, family and lovers. When she looked around her skin was spattered with ink. Forming the words of a thousand voices, echoes she heard even in her sleep: whatever you say, it is not right. Whatever you do, it is not enough. Your kindness is fake. Your pain is manipulative.”
Y/N hasn’t watched the concert recently, unlike Spencer. She didn’t realize how much it sounded like them. Spencer, however, spotted the coincidences the second he heard it that night with Amoreena. Telling Taylor, explaining in detail how Maeve and Stephen were their personal last kiss storylines, but they’ve found a lover in each other. Cheesy, but it was the best way he could describe it.
“When she lay there on the ground she dreamed of time machines and revenge. And a love that was really something. Not just the idea of something.”
She turned her attention to Spencer, replacing the pronouns to fit him for the next part, Y/N looked at him already knowing why, smiling as she made the connection in her mind.
“When he finally rose, he rose slowly. Avoiding old haunts and sidestepping shiny pennies. Wary of phone calls and promises, charmers, dandies and get-love-quick-schemes.
When he stood, he stood with a desolate knowingness, waded out into the dark wild oceans up to his neck. Bathed in his brokenness. Said a prayer of gratitude, for each chink in the armour he never knew he needed.
Standing broad-shouldered next to him, was a love that was really something. Not just the idea of something.
When they turned to go home, they heard echoes of new words: may your heart remain breakable but never by the same hand twice. And even louder: without your past, you could never have arrived so wondrously and brutally, by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance… here.”
“What she said,” Y/N says with a quick giggle, leaning in as she laughs, taking him down in a giggle fit with her.
Amoreena’s lightly tugging on Taylor’s dress then, “you have to say it, please you can’t not say it, I had this planned out before I even knew you’d beee here…” she whispers like Taylor has any clue what she’s talking about.
Y/N just starts to shake her head with a smile, “I think she means the speak now bridge,” she reminds her.
“Ahh,” she smiles, picking Amoreena up to be at eye level with them all, she sings. “I hear the preacher say speak now or forever hold, your, pee-E-eeace,” she sings it exactly like it is on the album, almost as if she’s been practicing to release it again…
“There’s the silence there’s my last chance, I stand up with shaking hands all eyes, on me,” Amoreena lightly signs right back. “Horrified looks from everyone in the room but I’m only looking at you!”
Spencer laughs then too, smiling at his little girl living out the fantasy of a lifetime, seeing her mom dressed like a princess and marrying the broken knight with rusty armour, while Taylor Swift of all people holds her. Nothing about the life they had together felt real, but he wouldn’t change it for the world.
“I think it’s only fair if I get a say in who marries my mom because I’ve known her the longest,” she adds, “and I’m not the kind of girl who should be rudely barging in on this white veil occasion, but you happen to be the best dad in the whole world, so I think it’s cool that you love my mom.”
Y/N lets out a choked sob, she clearly had no idea that Amoreena was planning to say all that, but of course, she was. She knew all about every single Disney princess wedding, every fairytale ending and happily ever after, Taylor has helped her learn about love and vows and true feelings that cannot be stopped.
She knew what to say and she meant every word.
Spencer reaches out to take Amoreena from Taylor, holding her in his arms instead as Y/N snuggled in close to them, both his girls in his arms.
“I think it’s only fair I give some vows to you as well, I’m committing my whole life to this family, you should know how much that means I love you, too, Amoreena.” She snuggles in closer to his neck as she holds him back, Y/N’s head resting on his other shoulder.
“Till the day I die, I am going to be here for you: with unconditional love, with the best stories and the best morning cuddles. I don’t care if you pull me out of bed at 5 in the morning to feed the goats, or the chickens or just because you think the sun looks pretty and want me to see it too. I love you Amoreena, you’ve completed my life."
"Do you remember that day you asked me to be your dad?” his voice is so soft as he bumps her cheek with his nose.
She wipes her tears as she pulls away from his shoulder, overly emotional at the events of the day and extremely tired from the excitement she let out earlier. She nods softly, “I meant it.”
“I know honey,” he can’t help but start to cry a little as well, dropping his manly facade and being real with her. She deserved to see exactly what she meant to him, “I watched you pouring glitter glue all over that table, making the biggest mess ever, but it made me think… I had a hole in my heart for so many years, there was a part of me missing for so, so, so long, and then I found a little Eden by beautiful little kingdom, and the fairest lady in all the land took me in, and she patched up my broken heart with glitter glue.”
Amoreena tried to smile the tears away, sniffling as she tried to nod, “that's how I felt when you told me I could pick you to be my dad.”
Y/N was a sobbing mess, having to crouch down to her knees as she let it all out, steadying herself by holding onto Spencer’s leg like a child would at that height, “is she okay?” Amoreena worried.
“Your mom loves us so much, and the baby does too, so it’s making her a bit more emotional than normal,” he explains, wishing he could scoop Y/N up and hold her as well.
She wipes the tears from her face as she calms herself down and stands back up with help from Taylor, “thank you,” she manages to whisper to her with a smile.
She’s also been crying, watching the most beautiful thing she’s ever seen. A family built on true love coming together, using her songs to form a bond that she’d never understand.
And she didn’t want to, some stories were best kept in families, to be sent down the line, generation after generation, to fall into the lap of someone like her one day and create a whole world with it.
“With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband, wife and daughter, the royal Reid family,” Taylor’s voice is soft as she plays along with Amoreena’s fantasy land, hushed to match the moment as Spencer leaned in to kiss Y/N.
Amoreena doesn’t cry out in disgust this time, instead, resting her head on her dad's shoulder as she watched them peck each other's lips gently. Watching a fairytale happy ending unfold in front of her very eyes, blessed to be the result of this happy union.
...

Wildflower // C.H
Tumblr media
(credits to the owner of the picture)
Pairing : Calum Hood x Female Reader.
Warnings : Smut, things are getting hot and heavy so take a seat. Swearing and fluff.
Words : 2.5k.
Inspired by : Wildflower by 5sos, duh. And Calum’s pink hair and also a Bad Bunny’s song called A Tu Merced and his videos that he’s been posting with his girlfriend.
a/n : I wrote this today so all mistakes are mine. Feedback is more than welcome. Love y’all and stay at home if you can, stay safe and take care.
"Calum what have you been doing this quarantine?" Calum read the sticker question on his Instagram story while he did the video for the answer.
"Well, not too much to be honest" he said with his raspy morning voice and with his notorious aussie accent. "I'm watching tons of tv shows that I left in the middle, taking the sun, believe it or not baking a lot so also exercise so at the end of this I'm not a ball so yeah".
"Do you have in mind your next hair color?" the question said. He was using a cap since he is recording the videos in the patio. It was a sunny day and people could noticed the glow the sun and maybe another thing was making on his skin. "Actually I did something the other day, I had another color and yesterday I changed it to this one I don't think you guys want to see it" he said removing the cap pointing at his blonde hair.
He answered a couple of questions related to the upcoming album releasing soon and then he said goodbye. "K' guys I'm gonna start my day, hope everyone is okay and please stay home. Love ya' and take care".
+
He didn't mean it to film this video for his social media and he had in mind to keep it to himself but he wanted to change that and posting anyways since everyone is doing something to show that we are in this together and just to goof around. He is always been so quiet when it comes to big things happening around the world and fans didn't like that about them sometimes.
The previous week he was so bored and had no idea what to do next. You and Calum already had breakfast and exercised early in the morning. It was hot outside so you bring up with the idea to be in the pool. He agreed and went upstairs with you to change into your swim suits.
You and Calum have always been a hot couple but keep it reserved to yourselves even when there is no surprise for the rest of the world even when you try to hide it. You were wearing a tiny red bikini that always drives Calum crazy. He had to control himself for not ripping it off, he wanted to enjoy the moment with you.
"Damn mama, you know how much I love you and thank God for this bikini" he said almost frustrated and kissed your neck before he asked you to help him with the sunscreen on his toned back. Then as he was laying on the grass you also applied the product on the back of his legs. You laughed when you remembered that time when last summer he was laying on his stomach all naked taking the sun and helped him with the sunscreen too for his thighs and ass.
After a long time in the sun when it was burning so much you both went to the pool and enjoyed there with music in the background.
"K' time to get out?" Calum asked you while your legs were laced on his waist and your arms around his neck. You nodded at him and with the same position he hold you with his strong arms out the pool. If it is a cold day he would do the same but in the jacuzzi.
During the last weeks you have been listening to Bad Bunny's new album. It is a hot album like he said in an interview that his mom asked him to go to church on sundays. You have been teaching spanish to Calum since you listen to latin artists and know perfectly the language.
You both are always goofing around so he was next to you dancing in the grass. 'La Santa' was playing in the back in the big speakers so you had a whole party for two. He hugged you from behind while you sang the lyrics and when the song ended he lifted you again to sit in the glass table he has in the shadows. He sit in the comfy chair and you take a sit on his lap, both still with wet hair from previous the swimming.
"Ugh, can we take a picture like this, please?" he asked you and let you know he is been dying to freeze this moment with you like this on his lap and your famous bikini. He took more than one and when he checked them he is mesmerized at your natural beauty and gorgeous body. He sent the pictures to you and you teased him how needy he is today.
You took his face in your hands to give him a peck. "What are you thinking, handsome?" you asked him knowing him perfectly he had something.
"I saw a meme about please do not cut your bangs during the quarantine and I was thinking what if I dyed my hair?" he said. You laughed at his childish idea and told him that he is doing exactly the opposite what the meme he saw said.
"And what color do you have in mind?" you said brushing his little curls with your fingers.
"Mmm I don't know why I had a pink tint upstairs" he said thinking while he rested his head on your boobs, still holding your waist.
"Now you have my attention" you said at him. He gave a little kiss to your exposed breast before he stood up to go find the tint.
Once he came back with everything he needed. You offered him to help him.
But, before you could start, 'A Tu Merced' started playing and Calum knows how much you love this one. The song basically says how she has he wrapped around her finger, that is why in the song Bad Bunny sings that he would do anything she asked him.
Calum started filming with his phone with the front camera as he left his phone in the glass table pointing at the back of the patio where you two started dancing closer since it is a little bit slow song, he tried his best and followed your hips while he sang in your ear the chorus of the song in spanish, and when he lost the rhythm he sit again and you came closer to hug him from behind and you buried your head on his neck and kissed his temple. He was fast again to put you back on his lap. "God, I love you baby. Can we spend all of our mornings like this?" he asked while he devised your lips and kissed you. You shifted yourself better to straddle him so you were blocking the view so his phone was recording your back and when Calum grabbed your ass firmly with both hands. Both of you forgot about the phone and got lost in your make out session while the songs keeps playing. Calum took advantage of what he had in front now that you looked taller on his lap and kissed your exposed skin closer to his mouth then he moved his hands up to the side of your boobs where the straps of your bikini rounded your chest. You groaned because the difference of temperature of his hot hands and the cold of his chains against you compared to the coldness of your clothed skin because of the damp bikini.
You kissed him on the lips interlacing your arms around his neck but broke the next move when the song ended and you came back to reality. “Cal, is still recording or you stopped the video?” you asked him referring to what he started what should be how you dyed his hair. Not that you wanted to do a sex tape with him, at least not in the back of the house.
“Fuck” he jumped and stopped the video immediately. You hid your red face on his neck and laughing at how you both were a mess. You protested at him to not see the video now, you were still embarrassed but he did it anyways and praised you at how amazing and hot you looked on top of him.
“You should keep the video, ya’ know if you miss me on tour” you winked at him and you felt his bulge against your clothed sex. He suggested to move on to dye his hair before he make love to you right there.
You know he is not going to show the video to anyone and you kinda liked the take from that angle when you saw it.
Now, without distractions Calum was recording the process for his new hair color. “Day one thousand of quarantine, we are going to dye my hair” he said to the camera like youtubers doing a tutorial. He introduced you and you started doing what he wanted so you put the gloves and dyed his hair, the video was really funny and his final reaction of the result was hilarious. He was in the bathroom looking at the mirror still with the towel around his neck. “Don’t try this at home, I look like Nicki Minaj but in a bad way” he joked.
During the rest of the day you couldn’t stop running your fingers through his pink hair. It looks amazing on him even when you miss the black curls and even more his afro and you let him know that he looks so handsome.
Once he finished a live stream with Luke (but hiding his hair with the hoodie) on Instagram he went upstairs to get ready for bed. He looked so cuddly with his white cream hoodie and just boxers. He gave you a look, open wide eyes when he found you were wearing the empathy hoodie that he found the last week, and your black lace panties.
“I think I’m going to make this my wallpaper” he pointed at you his phone and the photo he chose. It was the exact moment of his hands on grabbing your ass and the rest was your back with little drops of sweat and water. You hid your red face and laugh on his neck at how shameless he is. "What?! We are staying at home just the two of us, it is not like someone or the guys are going to see your beautiful curves as my background" he said but definitely when the quarantine ended in a future he forgot to change the wallpaper so everyone he knows saw it, even the paps or fans when he walked in the streets and were holding his phone unlocked and cameras did catch what picture he has.
"You are playing a dangerous game, Hood" you looked at him daring him that this game can be played by two.
"Uh yeah?" he bit his lower lip and put down his phone on the nightstand as he got closer, his hands have been always curious so he dug them under his hoodie that you were wearing and for his surprise of your bare chest already. He positioned himself on top of you as you melted into the mattress. He supported his right arm by your side while the left one lifted the green hoodie to show your breasts. He licked all the way up from your stomach to your nipples, you moaned at his warm breath against your skin and arched your back when he played with your nipples. You managed to take off your hoodie so he could continue with his way now kissing your neck where he left hickeys and later you are going to notice that he left in your breasts too.
"I'm going to choose a turtleneck sweater if I want to facetime my family tomorrow" you said thinking of your next move. Got it. "What if we end what we started earlier in the pool?" you asked him with a playful grin.
"What do you have in mind? you know I'm all yours, baby girl" he said lifting his brows making you laugh.
"Ya' know like a hotter video than we did accidentally before I dyed your hair" you could feel how he got even harder against your panties and you love that you have that effect on him. You and Calum are very open mind when it comes to your privacy, it is another topic that he plays an angel role in public.
"Oh my goodness baby girl you are already the death of me" he jumped off the bed to settle his phone so the view were your bodies but from your left side so both of you can see your figures. He took off his clothes and turned off the lights so the moon light is illuminating your bodies.
You were thinking to take care of him but he had other idea. He let you know that tonight was all for you and he wanted to hear you calling out his name with no shame.
After the first round and you both were breathing hardly enjoying and waiting for your waves of pleasure after reaching your highs to pass. "Are you down for another round?" he asked you kissing your chain he gave you for Valentines day. You admired him and softly brushed his pink hair backwards, you got a little bit of the tint in your fingertips since he is so sweaty. Calum was looking down at you too, taking his time looking your features amazed of your beauty and your curves he was touching carefully, god he loves you so much. Despite your or his previous relationships, he talks for himself that you are the only who make him feel like this.
"What are you looking?" you grinned at him after his admiration.
"Nothing baby, I just love you so fucking much" he said putting your hair off your face.
"I love you too" you said, it was the most honest and tender moment you exchanged.
He was going down again to make love to you twice that night. When his fingers landed close your pussy you jumped because you were still so sensitive. He started kissing you from head to toe before he ate you out, king of oral sex. And when again you reached your orgasm and his name left your mouth loud and clear.
He went up to kiss your skin and give attention to your side boob tattoo. It is a wildflower tattoo, not to big but when that piece of your skin is exposed it caught everyone attention.
"My wildflower" he said in a lusty voice like if he was eating his favorite meal when he kissed your tattoo. And that’s it, that’s how he got the inspiration for the song, plus he is going to have his pink hair for a couple of days that you let him clear that you love it. And he just posted on his account a short video when you dyed his hair because the rest of the video and pictures and the video from the previous night it is just for you and him.

Gravity | JJ Maybank (Outer Banks, Season 1)
Pairing: JJ x fem!reader
Wordcount: 2100 words
Warnings: swearing, mentioning of underaged drinking/smoking
a/n: English is not my native language, so there might be spelling/grammar mistakes. Also, this is just a simple oneshot, so don't expect a great plot or anything. Have fun!
Tumblr media
“because in my world, i'm constantly havin' a breakthrough or a breakdown, or a blackout, would you make out with me underneath the shelter of the balcony?”
─ clementine by halsey
[ Clementine, better known as Clem by the Pouges, lived on the southside of Outer Banks with her mum, near John B's home. Her mum worked pretty hard and was often out of town, so Clem was usually to herself. Since she began to work for Kiara’s dad two years ago, she sort of grew on the chaotic group and got involved in a lot more shit than expected. Besides serving tables at the restaurant, hanging out in the hammocks or on John B’s boat and handling the one or other mystery on the island, Clementines mind was occupied by a certain blonde guy. ]
The sun was nearly unberable, making me fan myself with my book. Summer had arrived, in full glory and a lot of hot air. I relaxed in my hammock behind our small bungalow and swung from side to side to keep myself from falling asleep, one foot on the dry grass.
Summer break just started two days ago and it was already boiling outside.
My hammock was placed between two thick trees, right beside the water and the wooden dock. Small waves sloshed against it from time to time and seabirds squealed above my head. I felt at peace and my body nearly forgot it already had more than ten hours of sleep last night as my phone vibrated. A new message from JJ lit up on its screen.
get urself ready
5 min.
A smile spread across my face. Within seconds I was back in my room, putting on my bathing suit, a pair of shorts and an open shirt with hawaiian flowers. I packed some drinks into my small cooling bag, slipped into my flip flops and wrote my mum a message in case she would be home before me.
With a towel over my shoulder and the cooling bag in my hand I walked outside again and onto the dock. John B was already steering his white boat towards the wooden planks as I reached the front.
“Aloha boys,” I greeted them with a big smile, and JJ held out his hand so I could easily jump on board.
“Hi Clem.”
“Aloha, darling. Watcha got there?” JJ asked, peeking over his sunglasses.
Once in a while, when I hadn't seen JJ for a day or two, I thought I wasn't completely head over heals for the sunkissed boy anymore and my heart had settled. But then he had the nerve to smile at me again and my whole body began to tingle.
“One for you.” I handed John B a cooled beer bottle which he thanked me for with a fast kiss onto my tempel. He was at least two feet taller than me. “And one for you.”
I threw another one in JJ's direction before getting myself one, placing my stuff under the bench seat and sitting down beside him.
“That just saved my day,” JJ answered and gave the cold glass a kiss, then he kissed me on my cheek. I hid my smile by taking a sip of beer.
“Don't lie, you already had two,” John B said grinning while he navigated the ship to where Pope lived. The boy was standing outside, helping his dad by cleaning some empty, second-hand boxes as usually.
“Hey, Pope, get your ass in here!”
“I told you yesterday, I can't!”
His dad came outside, a broom in his hands as if he wanted to chase us away. It wasn't a secret his dad disliked us.
“Oh, come on, it's summer vacation,” I interfered and waved him. Pope was already putting down the water hose and giving his dad an excusing look.
“I'll do it tomorrow. I promise!”
“Hell nah, you're stayin'!”
“I’ll be back for dinner!” Pope laid the pipe down and snatched a towel from the railing.
“Get in the boat, get in the boat,” John B whispered, whereupon Pope jumped onto the deck of the ship.
“Pope! Get back here right now!”
“We're getting him back safe, promise!” JJ yelled as John B turned the speed back up and we rushed through the waves up to Kie's house.
“Man, your dad is so unrelaxed. He should try one of my joints.”
“Don't you dare. He'll get us all killed.”
I laughed at the boys conversation. Such idiots. But I loved them nonetheless. They were my family.
Kie lived on the rich northside of Outer Banks, even though she hated it with nearly every fiber of her heart. The darkhaired girl was casually walking up to us, in her hand a bag fully of snacks ─ at least I hoped so.
“Morning y'all.”
“Welcome on board, pretty. Are those snacks?”
JJ got up to give Kie a hand, just like he did with me. Her hair was in a messy pointail, held together by a green cloth.
“Oh, you know. Some watermelon slices, stuff like that,” She joked, smiling.
Kiara was pretty. And not just that, she was smart and knew how to handle things. That didn't stay unnoticed by the guys. They were practically all into her, even if they weren't admitting it. Which wouldn't have been a problem if I was that confident in myself too. Or a bit more adventurous, inventive, whatever.
I wasn't jealous of her. In fact, she was one of my best friends, the only female one I may add. She made sure I got a job at her father’s restaurant, for which I couldn't be more thankful.
“Hey Kie.”
“Hey,” She greeted me, hugging me tightly before sitting down next to me. We provided everyone with drinks so we could touch glasses.
“Salud, guys. To the best summer of all times,” JJ announced, holding up his bottle.
“To the best summer of all times,” We echoed him and clinked our bottles together.
John B turned up the speed and the volume of the stereo as the waves splashed against the boat. I closed my eyes, smelling the salty water, my coconut sunscreen and the beer. I had missed summer.
We stayed out all day long on the water, sunbathing and diving in the ocean. Kie connected her phone with the stereo and put on some of our favourite songs. As the sun was slowly going to set, we all laid in the front of the white varnished boat, sandy and drained from all the sun. Within five minutes, we infested Kie's brought snacks and finished the beers.
JJ was passing around a joint he made himself. His skin glowed orange in the evening sun, even though there were some light bruises on his rips. His head was resting on my tanned legs.
After everyone had taken one or two drags, my body didn't feel as tired anymore. Kie started some more upbeat songs and while Pope navigated the boat back to John B's place, we danced. It probably looked horrible, but it was fun.
First, I was just dancing with Kie. Spinning her around and stuff, but she knew about my feelings for JJ. She was the only one I had told, ever. She was also the only one who believed JJ was interested in me too, as much as I tried to talk her out of it.
So, of course she used my blurry state to get me to dance with JJ. To make it less awkward, I stole his sunglasses and put them on, stupidly smiling at him.
“We dancin' now?”
“Absolutly.”
Grinning, he grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to him. Kie winked at me.
JJ put one of his hands on my hips, swaying me around in the front of the boat.
The sun was melting into the water and gave everything an orange touch. My body was glowing because of the heat, my heartbeat was going way too fast. JJ's blond hairstrands fell into his eyes and I couldn't stop laughing. Then he let me make a twist so my back was pressed against his belly and our hands were intertwined. Once he had unknotted us, he dipped me before pulling me up again. We were so close, our noses nearly touched.
“You look good with my glasses.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Then I might keep it.”
I grinned and bit my bottom lip. His eyes looked so pretty. Blue like the ocean.
“Hey guys, not on my boat, okay?” John B reminded us that we still had company around us.
I rolled my eyes and ─ as much as I didn't want to ─ let go of JJ. My hand slipped out of his and it felt like I was suddenly bound to gravity again.
Pope and Kie attached the rope of the boat with the hook on the dock, and I grabbed my stuff and followed the others to John B's house. I placed the now empty cooling box and my towel on the porch. My body felt like the alcohol and weed had left out of nowhere. The sun was barely seeable by now and the wind was colder than expected.
Inside, I put my clothes back over my swimwear and tamed my frizzy hair in a loose bun.
“That. Was. So. Much. Flirting.” Kie bumped her ellbow into rips with a knowing smile on her lips.
“Shut up. That was nothing.”
“Are you kidding me? Have you seen the way he looks at you?”
I crossed my arms, eyeing her in disbelief. My head just couldn't comprehend the idea of someone liking me like that. Especially not JJ.
“He likes you. A lot. Trust me.”
“Come on, Kie. Just because he flirts with me once doesn't mean he has feelings for me. You know how many girls want him.”
She scoffed. “Okay, fine. I'm gonna ask him.”
“Wha─ No. No, Kie!” I whisper-screamed at her and tried to grab her arm, but she escaped my grasp and jogged into the kitchen where the boys probably looted John's fridge. Fuck.
“Uh, guys, my mum texted me. I'm gonna go now, see ya tomorrow!” I yelled and quickly escaping onto the porch. The warmth seemed to have disappeared, thick rain drops where pouring down onto the shelter of the porch.
There was no way I would just let Kie embarrass me because ─ surprise ─ JJ wasn't actually flirting with me. Absolutely not.
I was already on the last step and out in the rain, as someone called me.
“Clem? Wait.” JJ. Goddamnit. I shut my eyes for a second before facing him.
“Yup?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
He scratched the back of his neck. “You─ uh... You still have my sunglasses.”
My heart dropped. Had I honestly expected something else?
“Yes, right. Sorry.”
I shook my head, scoffing as I took them off and went up the stairs again. I left my stuff down on the paveway. Internally, I was shaking like hell. My heart was a wreck. Utterly nervous. Maybe Kie hadn’t said anything, maybe he hadn’t heard her, I thought.
I stood infront of him again, not as close as before though. Without thinking and instead of just handing the stupid glasses over like a normal person, I put them on his face. He didn't need them, the sun had already vanished beneath the ocean. I did it anyway.
JJ pushed them up in his hair.
And then we were just looking at each other and I hade to pull myself together so I wouldn't faint. I gulped and tugged at my own shirt, that ridiculous hawaiian shirt.
“So,” JJ spoke under his breath. The rain was still pouring down onto the plastic shelter. My heart beat felt louder, and I wondered if he could hear it. I was so scared.
“Goodnight, J.”
With that, I turned around and wanted to leave, like I always did when I was too afraid to face the truth.
“I like you too.”
Everything in me froze just to melt in the next second. My heart stumbled. So Kie did tell him.
Slowly, I turned back around.
JJ just stood there, hands in his pockets and sunglasses in his hair, chewing unsurely on his bottom lip. He seemed vulnerable. No smug grin, no stupid joke on the tip of his tongue.
“I mean I really, really like you, Clementine. More than that.”
For once, I didn't want to be afraid. If he could be brave, I could too. Within a second, I was back in front of him, though way closer. Even closer than on the boat.
And this time, I kissed him.
My hands grabbed his hair, pulling his face down to mine, and once he had understood, I felt his arms wrap around my waist. There was no gravity pulling me down when we were this close.
“I really like you, too,” I mumbled between two kisses. I could feel his lips forming a smile as he pressed them onto mine again.
“"I thought you'd never admit it,” He said, grinning.
“Don't get used to it,” I answered, grinning just as wide as he did.
And then he kissed me again under the shelter of the balcony, surrounded by the heavy sound of the rain, while I buried my hands in his hair and he pulled me off the ground.

Wondrous Creature, Part Two (Branjie) - Athena2
Summary: Brooke and Vanessa enjoy their relationship together.
A/N: Back by (somewhat) popular demand, I added a part two on to this! Thank you to everyone that commented and wanted to read more, because this wouldn’t have happened without you. It’s pretty short and sweet, but I really hope you enjoy, and I’d appreciate any feedback you have! Thanks Writ for all your support!
Read parts one and two on ao3.
“Excuse you, Alex, I lived through World War II, how dare you say my answer’s wrong–”
Vanessa snorts as Brooke continues yelling at Jeopardy!, threatening to go on the show and teach everyone a thing or two.
Dating a vampire isn’t something she ever thought she’d do, but when it’s Brooke—well, that’s something else entirely. There’s a gentleness in her, in the way she warms her hands before taking Vanessa’s and helps Vanessa at the dog shelter, letting dogs lick her when Vanessa knows she’s more of a cat person. She even braves the daylight sometimes if there’s something Vanessa really wants to do, and Vanessa’s hands roam across Brooke’s smooth skin to get her special sunscreen all over her.
“Okay, Brooke, we get it,” Vanessa says, laying a hand on Brooke’s thigh.
Brooke immediately silences herself at the touch, nestling closer to Vanessa. “I’m right, though. These Jeopardy! people are wrong.” Her lips curl into a pout.
“I believe you,” Vanessa says, and she kisses the pout away.
No, dating a vampire isn’t something she ever thought she’d do. But Brooke tugs her closer and slips her icy hand inside Vanessa’s shirt, and Vanessa knows there’s no one else she’d rather be with.
“Are you sure about this?” Brooke raises an eyebrow as Vanessa assumes a fighting stance in the doorway.
“I’m sure. I just wanna say hi to them. My allergies won’t be too bad if I don’t touch ‘em.”
Brooke shrugs, bringing Henry and Apollo over to Vanessa, who sneezes immediately.
“H-Hi there, little guys,” Vanessa wheezes. “Me and your mama are together now, so I wanted”–another body-shaking sneeze– “to introduce myself.”
The cats meow in response, and Brooke brings them back in before Vanessa can sneeze again. If this was mild, she doesn’t want to see how bad Vanessa’s allergies can be. She’s always careful to keep the cats in her room and make sure she’s cat hair-free before being around Vanessa.
“I think they like you,” Brooke says to cheer Vanessa up. She hands her a tissue and doesn’t even flinch when Vanessa blows her nose like a foghorn. “Maybe cats can like dogs after all.”
“I’m a wolf, not a dog!” Vanessa yells, but she starts laughing, and pretty soon Brooke starts too.
“I think you should stay here for the full moon tonight,” Brooke says, glancing out the window at the storm. “It’s really coming down out there.”
“It doesn’t bother me.” Vanessa shrugs.
“I’d feel better if you were here,” Brooke admits, eyes on the floor because she doesn’t want Vanessa to see the worry shining in them. Almost doesn’t want to admit to herself that she’s this worried about Vanessa, now that she knows the truth about Vanessa and about her feelings toward her.
Vanessa’s face softens, and she nods.
Brooke grins. “I’ve always wanted to see a wolf up close.”
Vanessa swats at her. “I ain’t some cute little puppy, Brooke! I’m a wolf. I’m a fearsome beast, okay!”
“Sure you are.”
“I am!”
When the shaggy brown wolf emerges from Vanessa’s room that night, Brooke actually gasps. Any lingering fear she had about a wolf in the house vanish at wolf-Vanessa’s sharp grin, just as big as her human one, at the brown fur that looks as soft as Vanessa’s hair.
“You’re just a giant puppy!” Brooke yells.
Brooke swears wolf-Vanessa rolls her eyes before she growls, but the sound turns into a low, rumbling purr as Brooke scratches behind wolf-Vanessa’s ears. The wolf follows her into the living room and they snuggle up on the couch together, the TV playing some Animal Planet show that Vanessa likes in both human and wolf forms.
Brooke falls asleep with a face full of fur and wakes up with a face full of wavy brown hair. She presses a kiss to Vanessa’s neck and drifts off again.
It’s nice to have things out in the open, to not have to hide what she does at the full moon, or her feelings for Brooke.
Sure, it’s gross when Vanessa blindly reaches into the freezer and comes out with a bag of blood instead of the waffles she wanted. Or when they have to spend an hour vacuuming fur off the living room rug after Vanessa stays home for a full moon. But it also means that Vanessa can kiss Brooke whenever she wants, doesn’t have to jump back and worry about Brooke returning her feelings whenever they bump into each other when they cook.
“Miss Brooke turning you into a domesticated wolf,” Silky says at the salon. “You missed the last full moon with us.”
“Will you quiet down?” Vanessa hisses, even though the salon is empty at the moment. Her, Silky, and A’keria had opened the salon together, combining all their skills on makeup, hair, and nails to help people look and feel their best. Vanessa loves working with her two best friends, and loves helping people treat themselves as well.
“I wanna meet her,” A’keria says. She cocks her head and puts on a dreamy expression. “The vampire that stole Vanessa’s heart–”
“Even though she doesn’t have her own heart,” Silky says, and the both of them cackle.
“She has a heart!” Vanessa protests. “It just doesn’t beat. But she don’t need a beating heart to be nice. Or to love me.”
Her friends recoil into twin expressions of disgust, and Vanessa lets out a triumphant laugh.
“We really do want to meet her, though,” A’keria says.
Silky nods. “You talk about her so much, we want to see if she lives up to the hype. And make sure she won’t do you wrong.”
Vanessa’s heart warms at their concern, and she reaches out a grabby hand to both of them.
“Maybe we can do dinner or something,” Vanessa says, wondering how she’ll ask Brooke to invite two werewolves over for dinner.
—-
“Is that Brooke?” Priyanka calls as Brooke walks over to their usual table in the bar. “I forgot what you look like!”
Brooke rolls her eyes. “It hasn’t been that long.”
It’s true she missed the last few nights with her friends. Vanessa was exhausted and sore after her transformation, and Brooke was reluctant to leave her side, even if Vanessa insisted that she’s dealt with it for years. Brooke didn’t want her to do it alone when she didn’t have to. She set Vanessa up with her heating pad and tucked her underneath a heap of blankets, made her tea, and watched every rom-com she wanted. Leave it to dating a werewolf to turn her into a mother hen.
“You do seem a little different,” Nina says. “Happier.”
Brooke smiles, because she really does feel happier than she has in decades. All the tiny lies that her secret caused are gone, and she can go out after Vanessa falls asleep without hiding behind a fake job, without having to leave out so much about herself and what she does. Stories about herself and her life pour out around Vanessa, and Brooke tells stories about Woodstock in exchange for hearing about Vanessa’s first night as a wolf when she was thirteen and got attacked by an owl. Brooke loves getting to be with Vanessa, and it’s nice to know it’s powerful enough to show on her.
“I am happier,” Brooke says. “I’m doing the whole ‘be in love’ thing, like you told me.”
Nina smiles, and Brooke thinks her eyes look damp. “I’m happy for you, Brooke.”
“Now you know why I was all sunshine and rainbows when I met Asia,” Kameron says. “Welcome to the club, B.”
“We should meet Vanessa!” Priyanka says suddenly, the thought no doubt spurred by the empty wine glasses in front of her.
“Yeah, we should,” Nina agreed. “Anyone that’s making you this happy must be quite the person.”
“She is,” Brooke says softly. Vanessa is more than anything she dreamt of. From when Vanessa answered Brooke’s message about being her roommate, Brooke never thought she’d be with Vanessa, getting to cuddle with her and love her. She never even thought she’d be in love, period.
Part of her selfishly wants to keep their life and relationship secret, not let her friends meet Vanessa. But she’s known her friends for decades, and after all they’ve been through together, they deserve to meet someone Brooke loves. Maybe they can have dinner soon, though Brooke doesn’t know how she’ll ask Vanessa to invite three vampires over for dinner.
—-
It turns out the only food vampires and werewolves can agree on is pizza, and Brooke and Vanessa decide that’s their best bet for the party–better than Silky’s suggestion of rare steaks or Nina’s insistence on French delicacies, picked up from her time in Paris right after the first world war.
Vanessa sets the boxes down with a sigh, turning to Brooke and stopping in her tracks.
Brooke’s wearing red tonight. The sharp blazer and matching pants are deep and dark against her pale skin, and Vanessa’s mouth falls open.
“Thought I’d wear a little color tonight,” Brooke explains. “I picked your favorite.”
Vanessa just kisses her, because even Brooke’s pajamas are black, for crying out loud. For her to do this, she must really love Vanessa.
The doorbell rings with the first of their guests.
“Let’s do this,” Vanessa says. She remembers how panicked she’d been when she told Brooke that her friends wanted to meet her, only for Brooke to sigh in relief and say that her friends wanted to meet Vanessa too. Still, her stomach twists nervously at the thought of Brooke’s friends meeting her. One vampire is one thing, but a whole room of them judging her? That’s a lot, even though she knows Brooke wouldn’t be friends with anyone bad.
Vanessa opens the door to see Brooke’s friends, all matching the descriptions Brooke gave her: quiet Kameron with her pretty red curls, Nina as the spokesperson of the group shaking Vanessa’s hand, Priyanka announcing that the apartment smells like dog before saying she’s just kidding.
They’re barely in the door before Vanessa’s friends arrive, and then everyone stands awkwardly in the kitchen.
The questions erupt on both sides, back and forth like a tennis match.
“Does garlic really kill y’all?” Silky asks.
Nina shakes her head. “What about silver for you?”
“It burns,” A’keria answers. “Only kills us if it’s a bullet to the heart.”
Kameron nods. “Stake in the heart for us.”
“You can only change at the full moon, right?” Priyanka asks. “‘Cause I dated this girl once–”
“For the last time, she wasn’t a real werewolf, she was a furry!” Brooke yells across the kitchen.
Everyone bursts into laughter and heads into the dining room, chowing down pizza like they’re best friends.
“Well,” Brooke says to Vanessa as they join the others, “I think that went okay.”
They’re wrapped up in bed together after a successful dinner party, and Brooke breathes in as much of Vanessa as she can. The sweet citrus lotion on her skin and apple shampoo in her hair. The faint scent of hairspray leftover from today that Brooke’s vampire senses can just pick up. The lingering minty taste of toothpaste from their kiss earlier. They had survived dinner, and Brooke had survived the burning stares of two werewolves who’ve known Vanessa for years. Her friends had loved Vanessa too, and Brooke squeezes Vanessa a little tighter.
Vanessa’s head is on Brooke’s chest, wrapped safe inside Brooke’s arms. It’s easier to do it this way, since Brooke is taller, but Brooke can’t help but wonder if it’s weird for Vanessa to lay on her ice-cold chest and hear nothing beneath her, no signs of life thrumming from Brooke’s rib cage. And she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to lay on Vanessa’s chest, to hear her heartbeat, to feel a pulse again.
“What’s up with you?” Vanessa asks, stroking Brooke’s hair, because she always knows when Brooke is upset or lost in thought, even before they were dating.
“I just…” Brooke sighs. “Can I listen to your heartbeat?” She buries her face in the pillow, wanting it to swallow her up after such an embarrassing question.
“Of course,” Vanessa says simply, opening her arms up to Brooke.
Brooke gently lays her head on Vanessa’s chest, letting the sounds burst below her ears. Thump thump. Thump thump. Vanessa’s heart speeds up when Brooke caresses her cheek, and Brooke smiles to herself. Vanessa is real and here and human, her body filled with sounds of life Brooke hasn’t heard in her own body in nearly a century. Vanessa is here, and Brooke loves her.
“I love you,” she whispers. It’s the first time she’s said it to Vanessa, and Vanessa’s heart leap in response.
“I love you too.” The words wash over Brooke, and she thinks her heart beats for that one moment.
She nestles closer to Vanessa’s body, and they drift off together.

I Think I’ll Skip This Christmas, This Year
Bah, humbug!
Perhaps that was a little strong. Jilomena sighed. Christmas WAS her favourite holiday, after all. But it had been a crazy year, mostly passing by in a blur. She could hardly get her head round the fact that it was December already.
She dragged her tired self around the small kitchen. Her new small kitchen. She’d moved to the area in February. It was a quiet town, and the neighbours seemed nice enough. Linda was hard work at times, but Jil was still fond of her.
Mentally, she ticked off the things she still had to do. Work had been hectic, and Jil was incredibly low on energy. Why rush about driving yourself mad because it was the Christmas season? And don’t get her started on how expensive it all was....
Ah, yes. Presents. She still needed to get something to send to her sister and her sister’s husband and her nephew. Ungrateful bastards that they all were. She wondered idly if they’d send her anything in return. You shouldn’t give to receive, that was true, but it would be nice to get SOMETHING. Probably just a scarf, or a pair of socks. Again.
What would her perfect gift be? She mused idly, staring out the window as she sipped her hot chocolate. Maybe some sort of completion to the year just gone, a meaningful connection with someone.
Her mind drifted, unfocused eyes not seeing the snow falling outside. Linda’s friend. Alex Hughes. She’d met him briefly in one of the local shops. He’d seemed interesting, it even seemed as if a spark had passed between them. He was older, but still handsome, funny and self-depreciating. A tasty silver fox, the type that she was normally drawn to. And oh, those glasses! It made her want to remove them slowly before going in for a kiss...but she was getting sidetracked.
They’d even gone so far as to exchange numbers, but nothing had happened. He’d never phoned her, and she wasn’t quite forward enough to phone him. Linda had said he’d had a tough time of it. Perhaps she was expecting too much.
She sighed, attention returning to her list of unfinished tasks. Halls to deck, tree to trim. Really, she just needed to catch her breath.
Explaining to Lettie that she was spending Christmas by herself this year had been fun. Lettie couldn’t understand why Jil wanted, no, NEEDED, some time alone. Couldn’t understand why she was passing up a family holiday in Bermuda to be ‘stuck in all that horrid shitty snow.’
But the frozen landscape outside her window was like a picture from a calendar. She loved Canada, loved the snow blanketing everything with its uniform whiteness. Like the world made new. Even if the house seemed to have a chill she could never quite get rid of, it was still wonderful to her. The way the snow sparkled on the evergreens took her breath away.
Lettie hated winter. Jilomena loved it. Lettie preferred warm weather and springtime.
Thinking of springtime made Jil think of Alex again.
He’d been visiting Linda when she dropped by. This time, there was actually a mention of the two of them going for lunch together, but they couldn’t seem to agree on a day that was convenient for the both of them. A shame. They laughed and agreed that they’d try to keep in touch.
They didn’t. Not until it was summertime. He was heading to his lake house for the weekend. He had a boat. Would she care to join him?
She DID care to join him, but this time she put paid to it by getting a severe sunburn. Second degree burns. Linda had nagged her incessantly, telling her over and over that she needed to wear sunscreen, the sun was hot and didn’t Jil know that?! Burns were a bad thing to have...
Ah well. Too late to do much about it. She’d set her mind to forget it and concentrate on the holidays.
Work occupied her days. Time passed in a blur, and already it was Christmas Eve.
She’d decided to hell with tradition, she was going to have her Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve that year. It would have driven Lettie to distraction, she thought with a smug smile as she popped the world’s smallest turkey breast into her nice and hot oven. But this way she could get it over with, and spend Christmas Day slobbing about in her pyjamas, watching crap on the television and picking at leftovers all day.
Let’s see, she mused. Potatoes, check. Peas, carrots, and corn, check. Stuffing, check and check! She loved stuffing. Cranberry sauce...uh oh.
She quickly ransacked the cupboards, trying and failing to find the cranberry sauce. Oh, damn. She sighed heavily. There was no use pretending that she could have dinner without it.
She turned off the oven and got on her boots, ready to trudge back out in the snow. Luckily, the Valu-Mart was still open if she hurried.
Jil arrived several minutes later at her destination, cheeks pink with the cold and exertion. She stalked straight for the condiments aisle, weak with relief when she managed to grab the last jar of cranberry sauce on the shelf. It wasn’t her usual brand, but she was past caring, grateful she was able to have it at all.
Only one line was open for checkout. Just her luck that there was a customer already waiting. She sighed inwardly as she got in line behind him.
When he turned to place his item on the counter, she gasped audibly. ‘Alex! Oh my God!’
He looked up, confused for a moment. The look turned into a wide smile when he saw who it was. ‘Oh, hello again, Jilomena. Just doing a little last minute shopping. I’m on my own this year, needed a break, it’s been insanity...’ He trailed off, gesturing at the lonely jar of cranberry sauce that he’d put down.
‘Me too! But why are you...’ She stopped, seeing the item he’d put down. ‘You mean...you forgot cranberry sauce too?!’ She laughed then, a big belly laugh of pure mirth until her eyes were watering. It was too surreal to be believed.
He joined in, once she held up her lone item for purchase.
The sales clerk stared at them impatiently, wanting them to finish having hysterics and buy their damn cranberry sauce and go home so she could close up.
‘Well. Put that back and we’ll combine our efforts,’ he managed at last. ‘ We can go to mine, or I can come to yours. That is, if you’d like to....’ He trailed off then, a nervous smile on his face.
‘I’d love to. I’ll bring the stuffing.’ She slipped her hand into his as the exasperated clerk began to ring up the purchase at long last.
Who would have thought, she mused as she followed him back to his car. Perhaps there is such a thing as Christmas magic...
‘Merry Christmas.’ He gave her a quick kiss before opening the door for her.
‘Merry Christmas!’ she repeated with a grin, sliding herself inside his car.
I’m so glad I didn’t skip this one, this year, she mused with a smile.

Julie’s Love Yourself Concert Diary
Concert Date: September 29, 2018
Written: September 30, 2018
Warnings: I curse more than I should?
Words: 3,330ish-added a few  things at the last minute (phew!)
A/N:
[Update: Tumblr couldn’t upload all my photos that I spent awhile choosing and placing, so I’m going to have to pare it down. Sorry bbs! I opted to cut my personal & merch photos in favor of the boys]
So I have one thousand and one things I should be working on-for school, for work, for my eventual job hunt. But instead I am going to write about last night’s experience while it was still fresh in my mind. I was thinking of doing a song-by-song play-by-play, but you can look up the setlist on Wikipedia, so instead I am going to talk about the things that jumped out at me. WARNING: This is essentially one giant spoiler, so I will try to put a “Read More” cut, though it’s been being weird for me lately. So scroll carefully if you’re going to a later date and don’t want to know. All photos taken on my (now ancient) iPhone 6, so I tried to choose the best ones). Will edit as I see typos I made.
I’m a little nervous since I usually write fiction instead of sharing my personal experience. Anyway, full disclosure that this is just my perspective, and I’m (always) happy to discuss things (civilly) if you disagree with me.  <3  Photos and opinions are mine.- please don’t re-post anywhere else.
The Background/ Pulling a Namjoon and Leaving my Ticket at Home
Even though I was going to the Saturday show, I flew into LaGuardia using frequent flyer miles on Friday morning. I was staying with a friend in Queens, so I went straight to her apartment. I’m a grad student as most of you probably know at this point, so I spent most of Friday working on a paper that was due. I had two friends I met at last year’s concert going to the Friday concert, and they went for merch promptly at 9, but I had just arrived and had a deadline to meet for school.  Around 4:30PM, I decided that I was done for the day and opened Ticketmaster to print my ticket for the next day’s show. When I logged in, I saw the notice that the ticket had been mailed to me. I remembered having seen that when I bought the ticket in May, but in my defense I was jet-lagged and ill on that day. Furthermore, I moved to and from NYC in that time for a summer internship, and SO MUCH HAD HAPPENED. The tickets had been mailed while I was living here and I had never seen them, so somehow it slipped my mind. Obviously I lived too far away, but I didn’t know if I could express overnight them, but I think when I called Ticketmaster, the old ones were deactivated when the guy tried to send me the link.
Anyway, print at home was not an option, so I called Ticketmaster and in a panic explained my situation. They said it happened all the time and offered to send me a link. Luckily I kept the rep on the line, because it turned out that even they couldn’t email a link because of the anti-scalpers/fraud/whatever.
Then the rep said that I could show the credit card, but I had literally cut it up the week prior since the Vendor (e.g. the store that the card was through) had switched their card to a different bank (e.g. Visa to Mastercard), so I seemed shady af, even though I was telling the truth. He said as long as I had a login to a statement showing the transaction (I didn’t, since they had opted to close the account at an institutional level).  So I called my mom frantically, and luckily she is the hyper-organized type who keeps paper copies of everything and sent them to me. Seriously, Mom for the win!  I run to this print shop as it’s closing and print everything out.  I had the Ticketmaster receipt & order #, and two photo ID’s confirming my address. The guy said it should be fine, but I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. This was my one birthday gift and something I had been looking forward to for months. Anyway, my friend and I went out to a local bar near the Halsey (yes, the singer took her name from the station) stop on the L line, and I was super anti-social because I was so upset. I also burst a blood vessel in my eye  (it will heal, no worries) because of too much birthday partying the prior weekend, so I’m sure I was a (sour) sight to behold.
I slept poorly for obvious reasons, and left the apartment around 7AM, and arrived to Prudential center around 8:30ish. There were only a few people outside of will call, but the GA line was already wrapped around the building. I made small talk with people outside of the box office, and one woman told me she had gotten soundcheck both days. Seriously, what kind of karma do I need for that to happen to me? She and her friends had been camping out since Thursday, and they were SUPER organized: while she waited in line, one was at merch, and someone else was holding their GA site. I almost wondered if they were a fansite or something. ARMY are a truly organized bunch (except for me, clearly).
Anyway, after another half hour of pure anxiety, they opened up will call and I was panicking, but they were really helpful and gave me my ticket after I verified the order number, showed my id and confirmed some other personal data. I decided then and there that nothing else mattered and I was just happy to be there and be in.
Waiting in line/Logistics/Staff
I left the box office, and got into the GA line. It was probably around 9:15, and the line had already doubled-back on itself all the way around the building. The woman from earlier told me that her friend had got #1000 and was only 3 rows back, so I still had some hope. Basically, you line up to get your spot in line- though it’s kinda dumb that you have to line up twice, it makes security go faster and guarantees that there isn’t a huge surge/stronger people cutting  in line later.
I wore what I thought were my most comfortable shoes, but after standing on concrete for hours, I don’t think it makes a difference. People were so friendly though-  I never once felt awkward even though I was by myself. The same was true last year- the friends who had gone up for merch on Friday I met while in line at last years’ Wings concert. I chatted with people around me, drank the two bottles of water I had, and looked at my phone. Bring an umbrella for shade and sunscreen though-I didn’t and am rocking a nice farmers burn/tan today.  It wasn’t humid though, and it wasn’t raining, so it could have been so much worse.
Even though there were tons of people, everyone was well-behaved. I didn’t see any altercations, though as the day went on the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with crowd control.  I didn’t see too many people selling unofficial merch like last year, though I did buy a few necklaces (Joon and Chim, ofc).
After 3.5 hours, I finally got my wristband. They told us to be back by 2pm to line up for real, as they were going to try to open the doors at 3 instead of 3:30 (didn’t end up happening).
Merch
I then ran to merch, but there wasn’t much left. The fans/pickets were selling out as I got in line, and people were basically yelling “NOOOOOOOO” everytime the staff put up a “SOLD OUT” sticker. I bought what I could that was left, including a bracelet, which I’m actually in love with, the eco-tote (super overpriced tbh, $50 for a canvas bag), but the shopper bags were gone and I needed something to carry the box and batteries V3 ARMY Bomb I bought. I had one from last year that I also forgot, but I think the new version was cool because they are synced up with the music so you can change colors and patterns along with everyone else. Overall, it’s EXPEN$$$$IVE, but if anyone’s worth it, it’s Bangtan.
Newark
I was getting super tired after this, so I kinda passed on the photo studio table, big poster, and UNICEF stuff. I tried to go to Starbucks, but even though it was the middle of the day, I didn’t feel that safe, even though it was like 11:45 in the middle of the day. I’m a 27 year old who’s lived in Latin America (which is generally stereotyped for violence), solo traveled around the world, and I’m from the Rust Belt (aka home of true urban decay), but that part of Newark sketched me the heck out. Probably it would have been fine, but I opted for caution, and went to a Dunkin Donuts and empanada place right around the corner. The timing was actually good since we had to get back pretty quickly to line back up.
The second line was where the staff struggled, telling people to back up and get in order, but it seemed like staff were doing different things. Plus, if they wanted people to back up, they should have created room at the back first, before telling the front to basically “back that ass up” on the people behind them.
GA vs. Seated
I can say this- if you are short, you probably want a seat. Or if you have any kind of knee, back, or joint problems- I stood for approximately 14 straight hours on concrete yesterday. I am just under 5”5” but I was probably one of the taller people in the crowd, so I had a pretty good view. Even though they asked people to not take videos or record, you WILL be looking through a sea of cell phones. I could see pretty well, but sometimes when they were on the main stage I had a hard time seeing around other people’s arms.
Tumblr media
Last time I had P2 seated, and the view was wonderful. I went to the bathroom, charged my phone, and ate nachos (lol), so it was generally a more chill experience. I was still super close but up a little higher and could see absolutely everything. But last night I was SO close I could see Joon’s dimples irl, and got splashed by both Jungkook and J-Hope when they threw the water bottles.  Probably 100 people think this, but I’m also pretty sure Yoongi  (and maybeeee Jimin) saw me jumping and singing along like crazy since I was one of the taller people. At the very least, Yoongi keep looking in the general direction I was in. Ofc I looked gross af with my messed up eye and crazy hair, but what I loved about the concert is that I was 100% able to forget all the insecurities I carry around with me on a day to day basis and have an AMAZING time.
Of course the whole place is crazy high energy, but I feel like last night was INSANELY high. I’m not sure if it was the overall vibe or if that was the GA influencing my opinion.  It just depends on what kind of experience you want to have. Also, if you are claustrophobic, you should probably pass on GA. The guards kept forcing people to back up, at one point even coming in with a flashlight, and people would surge forward whenever a member came close. But someone said the night before was chill, so maybe it’s just luck of the draw.
The Show
The show was absolutely amazing. They opened with IDOL, which got people hyped from the get-go. Their dancing was ON POINT as always. People were chanting during the intro videos and chatting as it filled in, so it was a great vibe once again- just super happy feeling. The audio visual part was AMAZING, though I’m no pro, and I loved all of the concert outfits, especially Jimin’s super sparkly sweater. Lots of jumping, and lots of screams. I didn’t have earplugs and was fine, but if you’re sensitive to loud sounds I definitely recommend them. ISTG I remembered hearing a mashup of FIRE, but maybe not? Wikipedia seems to think not. But they played a few older ones too, which made me so soft and nostalgic.
Tumblr media
More on the members during the concert
Kim Namjoon
Ok, this is so so so biased, let me start with that. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know how much I love this man. Seeing him smiling and happy was amazing. And they had a professional translator for this concert, so I felt like Joon was able to relax a little and enjoy himself instead of worrying about translating for everyone else.  He is just as tall and proportional as everyone says he is.  Everyone talks about how soft he is these days (and I love it), but he has undeniable charisma when he raps. Plus him in sunglasses, ddaeng. Seeing him so close was akin to something spiritual for me (I SAW THE DIMPLES WITH MY OWN EYES), as were people shouting along with him to “Love.” At the end, he commented how we were all sharing the same air, and hearing him think the way (I know at least some of ) us think was so heartwarming.
Tumblr media
Also during some of the videos, there were some NOT AT ALL subtle Minjoon moments.
Kim Seokjin
The crowd last night ADORED Jin and gave him all the attention he deserves to have all the time. People were chanting his name SO LOUDLY during instrumental breaks in Epiphany. His voice was phenomenal, particularly the high notes. it’s clear how hard he’s worked to make it sound so effortless.  I noticed that people weren’t moving as much during some of his notes and I can only think it’s because we were literally transfixed. It’s well established, but I don’t think this man has any bad angles. Even in the still pictures I took while dancing, he DOESN’T look awkward in any of them. #impossible.
Tumblr media
Min Yoongi
Suga was clearly happy about something last night- he was SO cute and happy. Other ARMY on the train back to the city agreed with me. His rapping was fire (duh), but he was really smiley and took out his earpiece a number of times to hear us screaming. “Seesaw” starts with him laying on a couch and I can think of no better way to capture his true soul (lol). He was extra attentive to fans, and  I feel like what Tae mentioned in Burn the Stage, he was trying to memorize ARMY’s faces and live in the moment. I felt bad because there were clearly parts where he wanted us to sing along, but we couldn’t necessarily keep up with his tongue technology :P  But people definitely tried their best.
Tumblr media
Jung Hoseok
Idk what I can say here that’s new. J-Hope is one of the most charismatic members on the stage. And there’s something in the American air that turns him into Jay Hope. Seriously, he’s hard to move your eyes away from. “Just Dance” was the first solo track if I remember correctly and he did not disappoint. His glasses at the end were adorable, and one of the other members called him a “happy grandfather” or something like that.  Seriously, if you’re still sleeping on Hobi, we can’t be friends.
Tumblr media
Park Jimin
Jimin was ethereal as always, and the choreography for Serendipity was…..salacious, to say the least. Like if you thought the “Take Me Down” cover from last year’s Festa was too much, then idk what to tell you. Bring holy water or something. Despite  the free water that fans were providing to others (ARMY are seriously the best) there was a different kind of thirst occurring, if you smell what I’m stepping in. Jimin is pure charisma, like J-Hope. Obviously their styles are totally different, but when they move, you stop whatever you’re doing and watch. Again, I didn’t even see many ARMY bombs moving during Serendipity- I think we were too entranced. I personally thought that he killed his vocals and did great, but he seemed a little tired or like he was working hard at it. Jimin was also the one (at least that I saw from my angle) that got the closest to the fans, crouching down and leaning over the teleprompters/fans/lights/ whatever the black boxes were at the edge of the stage.
Tumblr media
Similar to Tae and Yoongi, I saw him looking at fans A LOT during the show. He was exactly how he seems in V Lives and cameras, and I’m fairly certain I would spontaneously combust if I ever ran into him irl (even if I didn’t know who he was)- he just radiates warmth and friendliness. Seriously, if I believed in magic, I feel like he would be able to influence people’s emotions.
Kim Taehyung
So many fic writers have this ultra primal (for lack of a better word?) for Tae, but all I see is a cute sweetheart. Obviously I’ve never seen someone create as much tension with their own arm as he does during Singularity, but when he’s not dancing, I just got a super innocent, cutesy vibe from him. His voice was so smooth last night. I mean, I knew, but now I KNOW.  He actually was shooting hearts at one fan (how lucky they are), and pretended to fall down when they shot him back! They were further back in P2 as well so he really does work hard at paying attention to everyone. He actually called over another member (maybe Yoongi or Jimin? I was too busy trying to remember how to breathe, to see whatever he was seeing).
Tumblr media
At the end he whipped a heart out of his beanie (how I pray to god someone got that moment on camera) a la Jin. He just seemed really comfortable in his own skin last night, and I was so grateful for it.
Jeon Jungkook
I had a hard time seeing most of his Euphoria performance as it was relatively early on and people were taking a shit ton of videos. He also stayed mostly on the main stage, rather than come out to the extension area near where I was. His abs are just as great in person, and the screams were (as is to be expected), absolutely deafening. They’ve talked about it in shows, but his voice is  SO stable. Obviously they stopped at times and don’t use too much backing vocals, but it sounded EXACTLY how it does on the album. He threw something into the crowd  (I think a banner) at the end, and it FLEW so far-back to P2 or further. They’re not kidding when they talk about how strong he is.

Final thoughts
At first, I was a little exhausted after my emotional trauma of the prior day, and from standing for so long but the minute it started I forgot everything else. I was salty when I couldn’t see that much bc of people recording (esp when they asked us not to), but I understand the specialness of the moment and wanting to have some tangible evidence that you were there. By the time the concert was over, I realized how special GA was, even if it’s more difficult logistically (since I went solo and didn’t have parents or friends to stand in). I still don’t know if it’s hit me that I was like 10 feet away from them, max. It reaffirmed how important they are to me. I didn’t write this to brag, but to hopefully share my perspective and let others live vicariously through my experience. If you want clarification or anything else, write to me!

okay, well today was pretty good, though I’m kinda irritated right now over some stupid shit. but yeah, I slept until I woke up, you know, as one does, and when I woke up it was like, 11:40ish. which is like, average for me on any day, but I felt slightly bad about it because I’m like on vacation and stuff, but like, nobody woke me up, that’s not my fault, they could've woken me up but they chose not to lol so I didn’t feel all that bad. Basically we had said we would see what the weather was like because the forecast has been rain all week, and if it was nice we would go to the beach. Well, it was pretty nice apart from a few dark clouds, so we resolved to go to the beach. Last night my sister had texted me when we got out of the play and asked us to bring her a donut when it was like, 10:30 pm on a Wednesday night and apparently they don’t have any 7-11′s around here so we could not get her a donut. As a result of this, we had planned to stop at dunkin donuts on our way to the beach so she could get a donut. So I changed into my bathing suit and got ready. The bathing suit top I was wearing I’ve owned for like, two years now, and had like tried it on and stuff but never actually wore it because the tag was still on it (like last year I just straight up forgot to bring a bathing suit with me). I have to get bra sized swimwear because I can’t fit into normal bathing suits, so it was a size 36HH, which isn’t really the size I’m currently wearing (the bra I was actually wearing was a 32I but I think it’s just that style, the other few I own are more like 34H or 34HH). so it fit but was a little big, I’m trying to think of how to describe it lol basically there was extra fabric between the bottom of the bra wire and where my chest actually started, but like it was okay. they still kinda stuck out in a way that made me feel kinda awkward, but I found that when I was in the water it stayed in place (which has been an issue in the past, not just with swimming) so I was pleased with that. I made sure I took time to put sunscreen on and make sure it was rubbed in. So we set off for the beach, I went with my girl cousin and sister, my aunt and parents were in the other car. We stopped at dunkin donuts, I hadn’t really eaten anything yet so I got a bagel (bad choice because not New York) with strawberry cream cheese and a “cosmic cotton candy coollatta” which I have no idea how it is different than a normal cotton candy collatta but whatever. They gave me the bagel toasted, which I hadn’t asked for (I think it’s weird that people assume you want your bagel to me toasted??) and with a packet of cream cheese, but without a knife or anything to put it on, so I was inventive and used an extra straw to apply the cream cheese to my bagel lol. So we drove on and made it to the beach, the red flags were up marking certain areas you weren’t supposed to swim in because apparently the rip tide was pretty bad. so we sat for a bit then I went in the water with the girls. A little cold at first but we adjusted quickly, the water was kinda choppy and the waves were breaking really prematurely so we couldn’t really jump any waves in the fashion I generally want to when at the ocean but it was still fun, so we went in for a bit and then retreated to where we set up the chairs and relaxed for a bit. There were some ominous looking storm clouds looming nearby so we started discussing if we were going to leave soon, the adults (actual adults, not including myself who I know am objectively an adult but shhh) wanted to stay a bit more but the girls and I packed up our stuff and headed back. I had seen an ad for dairy queen on twitter that they were doing a promotion where they’re donating money from all the blizzards (if you’re not familiar, it’s basically their version of a mcflurry or friend-z) to local childrens hospitals and I’ve been dying all summer to get one of their special summer flavored cotton candy blizzards (yes I am slightly obsessed with cotton candy flavored things at the moment) but haven’t made it there yet because *someone* doesn’t want to take me.....so I seized upon this moment to make my case to stop at dairy queen, and so we did that, and it was very enjoyable. So we returned to the house and I showered, the overtone deep treatment I used Monday night has still been shampooing out super neon pink (which I kinda love) but it was also my day to use conditioner (I only use it every 3 days so my hair doesn’t get greasy) so I wanted to use my overtone conditioner, so I did and idk if it helped but I’m fairly satisfied with how my hair color looks right now. So after that I went on my laptop for a bit, and the adults arrived and started working on dinner, at which point I snuck back to my room for a bit to do some official lawyerly business (I’m 90% kidding) for about an hour until dinner was ready. My aunt made this mexican bake thing which I’m always a bit wary about because with mexican and similar types of food it’s very difficult for me to be able to tell if I can eat it before putting it in my mouth, but luckily in this case I could eat it so that was good. It was pretty much just tortillas layered with corn, black beans, and cheese, and while I’m generally not a big bean fan it was pretty good. After dinner there was a bit of commotion as we figured out what we wanted to do, we eventually decided we were going to play the game “Psych!” which is done through the phone app everyone has to download and it’s basically balderdash if you’re familiar with that, but basically it asks a question like “what is [player’s name] favorite hit song?” and then everyone has to write an answer and then everyone votes on what answer they like best (without knowing whose is whose) and if someone picks yours you get a point. I was winning for a while but ultimately ended up in 2nd place, which I wasn’t all that miffed about lol it’s not a big deal. We did some of “head’s up” another phone game involving guessing a certain thing with others giving you clues or something like that. I’m the best at clue giving of course so I dominated there, lol. I’m just really good at games in general. The girls went to do something else then and my aunt wanted to find something to watch on netflix or amazon and they eventually settled on this PG movie that was called like “who gets the dog?” or something like that about a couple getting divorced and basically fighting over who gets to keep the dog. So I watched that with them for a while, it was moderately interesting, but then when it was like 10:15 and I knew the legends podcast was going to do their live episode at 10:30 I snuck off to go listen to that. It was fun as always, being in the live chat and making comments in always entertaining, so I enjoyed that (even if they’re not thrilled about Nora). That went on until about 12:30 or so, I did some other computer stuff for a bit and then started writing this. Thrown in between all of these things Jess and I decided we are officially going to be crazy and after spending Saturday at HVFF New Jersey, that night we’re going to fly to Portland and on Sunday do the con there that has Brandon Routh and Caity Lotz, then flying back to Chicago Sunday night. So that should be WILD, definitely looking forward to that. and yeah, that’s pretty much it. don’t really have any solidified plans for tomorrow, I think the girls want to get their nails done so I would probably join them there even though my nails are all super short right now and already somewhat painted, though I’ve let it chip a bit the last few days, so if I got like a gel manicure it could last me a few weeks and I’d be happy about that, and there may also be a mall trip involved, we’ll have to see. Right now it’s about to be 1:30 am so I should probably get to bed. Goodnight darlings. See you in the morning.

Lost in Limbo (A Reddie Fic)
(Make sure to also read the prologue :D)
Chapter 1: In a Land of Confusion
Eddie awoke to the screeching sound of his alarm. While it was only a small piece of technology, it sure was loud. The noise managed to echo off his white walls and penetrate his fucking cerebellum. He reached over to try to turn it off, but it only continued to spiel profanities at him, taunting him. Reaching his boiling point, he immediately clasped onto the alarm and smacked it so hard on his nightstand that the batteries flew out.  'That's for making me almost go deaf,' He inwardly thought to himself. He jumped out of his bed and quickly made his way to his restroom.
Upon looking at himself in the mirror, he was utterly taken aback. His hair was unruly. From hours of tossing and turning. He knew. The next thing he noticed was his eyes. Typically, they were vibrantly brown, and Bambi like. However, at this moment all he could see was that they were bloodshot and glassed over. From getting no sleep. Eddie knew.
He also noticed that he was paler than usual. Sickly pale. So much so that the freckles that danced around his nose were very noticeable. In the past, this wouldn’t have been an issue, but he is on the track team now. Initially, when he joined he did everything to prevent sun damage to his fragile skin by lathering extreme amounts of sunscreen on at a time, the sun still managed to curse Eddie with a decent tan. He knows that his skin should be darker than what it was now.
Knowing that he was on a strict schedule, he began to focus on his purpose for entering the restroom. He grabbed his mouthwash, toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss out of the medicine cabinet. He started his ritual with the mouthwash to eliminate the germs he had accumulated in his mouth when he was sleeping. The floss followed to ensure that anything stuck in his teeth from the previous meal did not end up living in his toothbrush. He then proceeded to brush his teeth, paying careful attention to each one. Finally, he used the mouthwash a final time to guarantee that it was in fact, clean. He smiled into the mirror and noted that his teeth were immaculate.
Moving onto his next task, he grabbed his brush and began to tame his hair that had been sprawled out in every direction. After a couple of strokes, he deemed his hair acceptable and quietly exited the bathroom.
Once he reached his bedroom, he grabbed the outfit he already had picked out for the day. He slipped on his favorite yellow shirt that Beverly had given him this year on his birthday. Next, he pulled his red track shorts over his boxers.  The length was just long enough to cover his boxers, but short enough for Eddie to remain comfortable. He pulled a black hoodie on over his shirt that was a little too big for him, meaning that it probably belonged to one of his friends. His bet was on Stan, seeing as Stan had spent the night last Friday. Not only that, but the sweater was also very clean. A little too fresh for Bill. Entirely too clean for Richie.
He grabbed his backpack and exited his room, quietly making his way down the stairs. Eddie reached the door and was about to sigh in relief at the thought of avoiding his mother, but someone had other plans.
“Eddie-bear, dear! Come here, please?” His mother called. Eddie grimaced. He didn’t want to deal with her right now but walked into the living room anyways.
“Young man, you know you are supposed to let me know when you are getting ready in the morning. You know how delicate you are. You could have hurt yourself, and I would have never known! ” She said with fear and worry in her voice.
Eddie was extremely annoyed and spoke without thinking, “Just how could I have hurt myself Ma?” She gave him a look disappointment mixed with anger. ‘Well, fuck it,’ Eddie thought, ‘Might as well continue while I am already ahead.’
“Let me guess; I could have poked one of my eyes out brushing my hair? Or is it that I may have fallen off my bed and broken my leg? Mind you the bed is only a couple inches off the fucking ground.” He added, “Wait, I get it. I have the brittle bone disease now too, huh Ma?”
Ms. Kaspbrak was shocked. Her own brown eyes pierced through Eddie’s. Her face was red with anger and sweat dripped off her forehead. She attempted to grab Eddie while sitting in her chair, but he backed up to avoid her.
“How dare you, young man! You would never talk to me before you started hanging out with those dirty kids in the neighborhood. Especially that Tozier boy.” She spat with disgust, “They are a bad influence on you! I think from now on you should stay away from them. I know what is best for you. All you need is me.”
At the mention of Richie’s name, Eddie lost all of his composure. He glared fiercely at her and shook his head, “How would you know what's good for me? All you do is try to convince me that I am sick when there is nothing wrong with me!  I’ve known that much for years. Now you think my friends, the ones who actually care about me are the ones who are damaging me? You’re deadly mistaken, Ma. You’re the one that is suffocating me.” Knowing that he was in deep shit, he turned around and booked it out of the house.
Ms. Kaspbrak was fuming now and began crying, “You get back here!  Right now young man. We haven’t talked about this. Wait! You forgot your lunch. You can’t eat the food at school, Eddie. It's processed and bad for you! You will get sick! Eddie?” The only sound she heard was the slamming of the front door.
Eddie felt a mixture of accomplishment and defeat all at the same time walking out of his house. When he got out from school, he knew he was going to be in so much trouble. She was going to attempt to make him stay in the house forever. He sighed at the thought. He was snapped back to reality when he heard the overwhelmingly loud sound of Guns N Roses from around the corner. Which helped in drowning out his mother, who was screaming at him from the window. He pretended not to hear her and began walking towards the direction where Richie’s car usually came. While the car was nowhere in sight, Eddie knew he wouldn't be walking long. After all, Richie drove like a damn maniac. Only a couple of seconds later, he saw Richie's beat up truck hauling ass towards him. Eddie sighed.
Richie finally reached Eddie, only slowing down enough to allow the smaller boy to get into the car before speeding up again. Eddie quickly put his seatbelt on out of fear for his life and yelled, "What the fuck, Richie?  We have twenty minutes to get to school! Can't you slow the hell down? You're going so fast that the seat belts could burn our skin. Or you could fucking crash and kill us both! You could-" His sentence was interrupted.
Richie grinned devilishly at hearing the panic in Eddie’s voice. He always enjoyed messing around with the younger boy, "Why hello there! Ed's, dear buddy ole pal, couldn't I just want to see my best friend's beautiful face on this joyous day?" He said in his best British accent. To this, Eddie smiled a little, his eyebrows raised, knowing a joke would be soon to follow.
Richie inhaled a deep breath, and Eddie knew what was coming.
The older male exclaimed in the happiest voice he could muster, "I gotta get Little Eds to school, so I can go see her! God, how I've missed your mother's-"
"Beep beep, Richie!" Eddie cut him off. His brows furrowed and the traces of the smile that had been on his face only minutes ago had disappeared.
Richie gasped and immediately clutched his heart dramatically with one hand, “Already Eddie? This early in the morning? Oh, my achy breaky heart!”
Eddie rolled his eyes so hard in his head he could have sworn they were going to get stuck like that. “It's going to be more than your achy breaky heart if you don’t put both of your hands on the fucking wheel, you idiot.”
Eddie’s threat went unheard. Richie doesn’t listen to anyone. He never does. He is Richie Trashmouth Tozier, after all. Richie is his name and fucking around is his game.
Immediately he took that same hand and placed it on Eddie’s thigh traveling upwards to grab one of the hems of his shorts, “Hey Eds, aren’t you getting too old to be wearing short shorts?” He yanked on the material a bit before adding, “Also, how the fuck do you wear underwear with these fucking things.” His laughed deepened, “Or are you going commando? You know that is dangerous, death by an atomic wedgie. Ha!” That most surely would get a response out of his favorite hypochondriac.
Eddie’s heart immediately fell into his stomach as he choked on a gasp. His mind was running 1,000 miles per minute. Any second now, he was going to short circuit and die. He could feel it.
All because of Richie fucking trash mouth Tozier. He couldn’t think about anything else besides that hand on his leg. The hand belonging to the person who he has been in love with the past two years. So close to him. Too fucking close to him.  He could feel his face beginning to flush. Trying to be as normal as possible, he swatted Richie’s hand away. “I’m in a sport, you idiot! Everyone on the track team has to wear them. You just wouldn’t know anything about that seeing as you aren’t in any extracurricular activities.”
Eddie’s blush did not go unnoticed by Richie, who quickly cheered, “You are so feisty and cute! Cute, cute, cute, my little Eddie Spaghetti!” He slapped Eddie’s thigh and placed his hand back on the wheel, “I don’t have time for additional sports, Eds.”
Eddie eyebrows furrowed in confusion, “What? You are full of shit, Tozier. I would know if you were in a team sport at our school. All the losers would.” He was so engrossed with trying to insult Richie that he didn’t notice they had reached the school and the car was parked.
Richie seriously looked at Eddie, “Well you see, Eds-”
 “Don’t call me Eds.”
“Anyways, Eds, fucking is a sport. I don’t need a team, and it’s preferred to play in your birthday suit! It is the best kind of sport out there if you ask me.”
Eddie rolled his eyes, for the second time that morning. Earlier he had thought that he rolled them so hard that they were going to get stuck. Now, he turned them so hard he was sure that he could see his fucking brain. “You’re fucking repulsive. Who gives a shit about a sport using only your wrists?” He teased.
Richie only laughed at him again as he opened the door and exited the car. He walked over to the passenger side where Eddie remained in his seat.
“More like a sport using mainly my hips! Though I do use my wrists too.” Richie said as he made thrusting gestures and wiggled each one of his fingers. He thought his joke was so good that he tried to give Eddie an air high five. Eddie scowled at him as he too got out of the car.
The older male added, “Repulsive? Oh, Eds, what would you even know about sex? Not even halfway through getting blown you would need your fucking inhaler.” Richie joked.
Eddie knew it was only a joke. Richie would never oppress Eddie if he knew. Still, Eddie’s eyes widened as a wave of hurt and fear came over him.
He remembered the leaper covered in sickly sores and diseases as it’s menacing voice taunted him, “I’d blow you for a dime.”
Eddie could feel his hands starting to shake and tried to steady them by crossing his arms.
Richie immediately noticed Eddie’s whole demeanor changed. He locked eyes with the other boys chocolate brown eyes seeing something he thought he would never see again. Pure fear.
He began to worry as he watched Eddie hug himself. “What’s wrong Eddie?” He grabbed the younger boy carefully and shook him, “Come back to Earth, Eddie!”
Eddie could feel tears forming in his eyes as he heard the leper say, “Come back here, kid! I’ll blow you for free. Come back here!” He blinked them away and moved from Richie's hold.
He had to get away. Richie had seen too much. He quickly grabbed his backpack from the passenger and threw it over his shoulder. Before he had the chance to start running, the taller male grasped tightly onto his wrist.
“Whoa! Eds.” He spoke in his most caring voice, the one reserved for Eddie. “Seriously? What’s wrong? What did you see? Was it-” Realization dawned on Richie, “Did you see It?”
Eddie's stomach lurched, and he felt like he was going to puke. He pulled his wrist from his friend’s firm grip. “Dammit, Richie!” He yelled with as much venom he could muster, “You never know when to shut up! Just back off and leave me alone.” His voice cracked as he tried to hold back his emotions.
Not wasting any time, he began to run into the crowd of students, knowing Richie would try to follow him. He pushed his way through the crowd and went into the entrance of the school just as the first bell rang.
Today was going to be an eventful day indeed.
The story is going to get much darker from this point!

Last year I wrote two haul posts, one for Memorial Day and one for Labor Day, and now I’m back to do the same.
Day 1
I knew if it was gonna be anything like last year, that this is what would happen: I’d wander around, find a couple interesting things but nothing worth spending my money on, and then, at the very end of the day, I would stumble upon a perfect find.
The wandering around was fun, and I found a bunch of interesting but not fashion related stuff, which you can see on my insta if you want. Highlights include skiing forks, creepy dolls, and Shakespeare taking a bath in a cup of tea.
And then, on my way home, I happened across this treasure trove. Someone put a cardboard box into my hands and told me to fill it up for $5. I. Was. In. Heaven.
Tumblr media
And I knew it was heaven when I came across these two shirts, especially the one on the right. I love crop tops and will never get enough.
Tumblr media
Now, to go along with that vast amount of crop tops I own, I need some high waisted jeans. Which I do not own a lot of. Until now. I actually picked up 5 pairs at this sale, which which may sound like going a little overboard, but I know how this goes: only 3 ended up fitting me. The other 2 I gifted to my mother. We waste not in this household!
Tumblr media
Soon after I came across another of my favorite things: flannel. I’ve been building up a nice collection with every yard sale that goes by, and finally got one that’s not massively oversized. It’s amazing and soft, though.
Tumblr media
To get even gayer than that, I’ve been keeping my eye out for short cropped leather jackets for a certain disneybound. This one’s not leather and doesn’t have a collar, but with the sleeves rolled up it works quite well.
Tumblr media
In addition to pants, I grabbed some leggings! I’ve been out of the habit of wearing these, I don’t like them as pants and I prefer tights under skirts, but the print on this piratey one was just too good.
Tumblr media
And I feel like I’ve been seeing slitted leggings like this everywhere. Oooh, imagine them over fishnets.....
Tumblr media
I grabbed a couple berets, too -- unworn with tags. I don’t really wear these, but sapphicpanda needs to own more.
Tumblr media
And here’s a final smattering of things. The crop top fit awkwardly, it didn’t seem to be made well for anyone who owns boobs (or arms, or shoulders). The bra (also unworn, with tags, I promise) was my size, but nothing exciting about it, so I gave it to my sister. And the dress, which I didn’t even try on because the color was too overwhelmingly neon pink, also went straight to her.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, I counted up what I had gotten. 19 items, for $5 total, averages out to 26¢ each!
Day 2
I started hitting a bit more varied yard sales when I headed out on Saturday. My first clothing find of the day came pretty early!
Tumblr media
Having just bought all those high waisted jeans yesterday, I guess I got excited and forgot I bought them because I had so many crop tops that I needed something to wear with. I guess a part of me wanted to celebrate the first find by getting more?
But in addition to high waisted things, I was also looking for shorts -- of any cut -- that fit. All mine have become too big recently. When I pulled these ones out of the pile, I actually laughed at how small they looked, like they wouldn’t cover anything. Well, joke’s on me I suppose!
Tumblr media
At the same yard sale I found this shirt, aka the love of my life. I almost let it slip away from me -- it’s a size XL, so I put it back down -- but after seeing someone else pick it up and handle it, a mad wave of jealousy and passion for the delicate beautiful fabric washed over me, and I snatched it up as soon as that lady let it out of her hands.
Tumblr media
Honestly, my ugly floor photos don’t do it justice, but I promise it’s the most lovely color.
Tumblr media
The tiara was a mad impulse buy; I’ve been wanting one forever. Apparently it originally came from Medieval Times? And the flower headband just kinds of got bundled into my bag for free.
Tumblr media
The next sale we stopped at was quite interesting. Every once in a while you see bras at a yard sale; sometimes they’ll even be clean and unworn and not disgusting! But this woman had a whole very aesthetically dangling rack of vintage lace bras, unworn with tags, for $1 each. And she was pushing so hard to make a sale.
But I had no time for bra regrets, I had to take care of my shoe regrets! I trekked back to where I had found the $2 saddle shoes the day before with a determined mind and a battle ready attitude. I ended up getting not only the shoes, but this whole haul, for $2:
Tumblr media
Another white long sleeve crop top with lace -- one more and it’s officially called a problem. (Fun fact, I sometimes look up the clothes I buy to see if they’re from recognizable brands / how much I saved by buying secondhand. This H&M crop is going for $30 on Vinted. Yeah no thanks!) I was excited to finally get running shorts, but when I got home, I realized these fit absolutely terribly, to the point where I couldn’t even get them over my hips. Oh well. These shoes made it worth it.
PINK RUNNING SHORTS / yard sale / 50¢
Tumblr media
After that, we made our way back to the sale giving away $5 bags. They’d run out of bags, and handed us a shopping basket (which we got to keep, which was cool) to fill instead. This time it was my sister who grabbed most of the stuff, and who paid the $5 at the end. Since I gave her some of the things from yesterday’s box, I let myself put a few things in today’s box. And since I didn’t pay for them, they were technically $0, but I’ll list them at 26¢ like yesterday’s average in the spirit of fairness.
Tumblr media
Let me just humblebrag a bit about what is now officially ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS I OWN, aka THIS AMAZING (FUNCTIONAL!) CLOCK PURSE
Tumblr media
Finally, I don’t watch Orphan Black, but on the off chance that I someday do...

estate sale
After hauling all this home and pausing for lunch, I debated whether to go back out. Usually people are done with their yard sales by the end of Saturday. At that point they’ll just leave things out and put up signs saying “FREE!” So instead of walking, my dad and I got in the car and drove to see whether we could spot any garbage to pick up.
We did well in the garbage department (headbands, hair curlers, wires, and a couple cardboard drawers) and then we stopped at a really cool but pricey estate sale that was still going. They had the whole house open to wander through, and so many belongings laid out to look at, and somebody there had been really interested in Native American art and artifacts. We looked at a lot but didn’t pick up much. I found a handful of fabric glue bottles for $1, and my dad found this warm wool shirt going for $10. It reminded him of a shirt he once owned, but it wasn’t his size, so he talked the guy down to $5 and gave it to me.

Day 3
On Day 3, I decided that I’d been overdressed for the weather thus far. So I adjusted to the heat by putting on a tank top, a visor hat, shorts, sunscreen, no necklace, and hauling out my bicycle... into a chillingly windy pre-thunderstorm morning.
It’s my habit on these Sundays to take my bike around town and see what piles of garbage people have left by the roadside after they couldn’t sell anymore. I didn’t see anything promising, though, so I headed back to the $5 bag sale, which was still going incredibly strong.
Tumblr media
Nothing exciting about the fit of these two shirts, but I smiled at the graphics, especially the one on the left. I kept imagining it as a crop top for maximum irony. Next DIY project!
Tumblr media
A basic, somewhat sporty, but also somewhat flimsy racerback tank. This one’s main visual interest thing is the fact that all of its edges are raw. We’ll see how it hold up to exercise.
The sheer mint tank top tho?
Tumblr media
This sheer mint tank top tho. I wasn’t expecting to buy two sheer mint tops in one weekend, but apparently that happened? Wow, I really hope this color is “in” in the spring, because I’m gonna be wearing it plenty.
The pink corduroy jacket I didn’t actually need, and I don’t actually like corduroy... but I have a certain soft spot for a pink jacket, so when the opportunity for a free one came up, I had to take it.
Tumblr media
Finally, I don’t super love Coca-Cola, or any soda for that matter, but I do like tank top dresses. And it’s been four years since I graduated Serrano High School, but it’s never too late to show some school pride.
