I don't want to pressure you!! But I'm so excited for the next chapter of TDMUS 😫😫Please give us a sneak peek--or a hint about what's coming? I would appreciate it so much!!!

First, I'm SO glad you're enjoying The Devil Makes Us Sin! 💕 I'm ecstatic that people like this slow descent into corruption and debauchery. Second, you'll be pleased to know I'm over 3.5k words into the next chapter and it's all plotted out. I can't promise when it will be done, but I have been working on it! (Though perhaps not as quickly as I would like.)

So just for you Anon, here's a snippet from Chapter 4 (without final edits so it may change slightly in the final draft). Enjoy 😉😏

The next morning, you sleep in until a gloriously late hour. Just because you can. And because last night was emotionally exhausting—you're certain the wine didn't help. Even when you're no longer tired, you lie in bed, wrapped in the warmth of your blankets, and bask in the knowledge that you never have to go back to that office ever again.

Or speak to your mother.

You feel untethered, but not adrift. No, you know exactly which direction you're headed and now you have the freedom to do so.

Eventually you resume your search for a new bed on your phone as well because you start to think about how blissful this would have been on a comfortable mattress. With silk sheets. And a new nightgown. Oh, maybe something with lace. Or silk. Or, even better, something sheer that barely covers your ass.

You also think about how much David would enjoy all of those things.

You start off looking at sleepwear that leans more sensible than sexy, but as you begin to wonder what David would think of each one, you quickly find yourself clicking on more and more revealing pieces.

It's when you're looking at a see through, drapey number that comes off with only a clasp between your breasts that your phone buzzes with a new text message.

You grin because you wondered how long it would be before he reached out to you. Now you're absolutely certain he's keeping tabs on you and saw how racy your searches were getting. Part of you was doing it on purpose—baiting him until he couldn't resist any longer. Even if it gave him away.

Are you enjoying your first day of freedom?

"Immensely. I haven't even gotten out of bed yet." You feel very smug as you hit send because now you've added the thought of you in bed to his mental image of the lingerie.

Is that so? Sounds as though you're having a lovely morning.

Any other exciting plans for the day?

"Not unless you count a date with a book on my nightstand."

Depends on what kind of book.

"Well, there are two of them for me to choose from. One is a murder mystery. The other is a steamy romance novel." It's a lie. You have two art history books and an Amedeo Modigliani biography on your nightstand.

I see. Two very different types of thrilling.

"Exactly. On one hand, the murder mystery would stimulate my brain."

It takes a minute longer for you to get a response to that.

And what would the romance novel stimulate?

"My heart, David. What else?" You grin at your phone.

"Now tell me which one you would like best."

If I had to choose between the two, I would prefer the murder mystery.

"Of course you would. But I meant which of the lingerie you would like best. Because I know you were watching."

There's another pause.

All of them.

BEFORE/AFTER COLORING CHALLENGE

I think I made this voluntarily after last year's giftober, but since I'm one gifset short of finishing this year's set & I got tagged by @elennemigo (with some insane colorings - i think i'll cry if i ever pick up making marvel gifs) here's some before & after coloring* for this year's giftober gifs :)

*these already have blurs & sharpenings to make the base gif look better

This was for day 4: eyes. I wanted to contrast the eye color change along the HF movies, thus I changed the background & sakura's hair more purple from the original blue/gray bg & blue-purple hair. I also removed the soft white color that ufotable slaps on everything.

This was for day 28: change. It was overall a very gray scene, made it brighter & more vibrant. To achieve this result I actually slapped on a whole 18 adjustment layers lol. Boosting the green of the scarf was a challenge of itself really, photoshop was very certain that it was not green.

Day 22 Yellow was easy mode, making the oranges & reds more yellow, brightening the gif, the usual.

Dat 13: clocks. The whole scene was very green, so i boosted the blues and yellows, keeping the green out.

DAY 29: backbags/handbags - I wanted to make the scenes brighter while softly colored, the cyans are a lot more visible after the adjustments. There was a blue/gray filter on the scene, which I removed, bringing more light to the scene.

Day 30: goodbye. This scene is very purple, even Romani/Solomon got some of that, so I toned down the blues in his skin making it more warmly colored. The background sky was turned blue.

Each of these gifsets took hours to create, the blur I use to fade out the background & multiple unnecessary details a bit, then i sharpen twice with different settings to make the characters stand out more against the background.

Overworked Starters

He had at least come to bid her farewell before leaving this time. Kira had grown rather fond of Aaron. At least… the Aaron from across the hall. But this wasn’t him, this was Elder Sheling. Someone that she’d dare not acknowledge nor recognize for fear of him warping into her previous misconceptions of him.

His character had turned out to be something she hadn’t expected. Something she liked, something she missed. A feeling she just couldn’t put a word to.

But it tumbles from her lips faster than she can stop herself: “They need you? I need you!” She stops, and so does he. Right before the door, he freezes. Her words powerful enough to stop time itself.

“You-… you can’t go. They don’t need you, not-“ She swallows her pride, something not easily done, “-Not the way I do.”

Orphan: … scoot.

Signal: T-thanks, B!

Robin: Fools! The lot of you! I have a legitimate reason to seek shelter! My winter suit is in need of repairs!

Batman:*Sigh*

Superman: How were you able to all fit under there?

Stony silence rings from the other end of the line, but Jason knows Bruce is listening. Listening and running through several possibilities of how someone could have gotten this number while simultaneously tracking the call signal.

This is gonna be fucking gold.

Time to sell it.

“Dad,” he sobs, pitching his voice until it breaks, teeth chattering exaggeratedly, “Dad, please, I’m scared, I-“ Jason cuts himself off with a scream and another series of sobs, “Please, I can’t— it’s locked! Please, no, Dad, it’s locked—“

A sharp intake of breath, the dull thump of something heavy colliding unexpectedly.

“Dad!” Jason cries, calling upon every single drama class he’s ever had, “Please… please- it’s almost to zero- please, I’m sorry, please, please, it hurts so much-“

Bruce breaks.

“Jason, Jason, hold on Jaylad, hold on, I will find-“

Jason smashes the phone against the marble dress of the creepy angel standing guard over his grave. The pieces vanish into the wet grass, like an occult offering eaten by Gotham’s soil.

Then Jason turns and walks away with a gleeful little smile.

But not without flipping the stupid angel off one last time.
