Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
Hi hello 👋 I just found out that our dearest boy Manjiro "Mikey" Sano (Yū Hayashi) sings a special version of Cry Baby (the opening song of TR) and I honestly can't handle this information and now love the song even more
"Eh~? What are you so angry about? I'm just doing things my own way. It's the usual, isn't it?♪"
メロルド / Merold

Illustrator: 赤倉 / Akakura (< I've linked the illustrator's unofficial fanart of Merold if you'd like to see. Although it is by his official illustrator, it is fanart, so don't repost it)
An easygoing and intelligent person who goes at his own pace
A Fragaria that has formed a contract with My Melody. Although he seems easygoing and careless, he's actually a very cunning and sharp person. He is good at manipulating(?*) others' feelings.
His ability has earned him the title of "The Strongest Knight" across the continent, and it's thanks to him that My Melody was able to build a stable kingdom. He thought he was really clear about the fact that he loved his younger brother, although in reality he was never really vocal about it.
*I'm not sure if he's good at simply understanding other's emotions or he's good at manipulating them, but for context's sake I said manipulating
64 unique idols are gathered here to see who among them, truly, is worthy of being the top idol. this is a friendly competition and there is no threat of the idoluminati anywhere at all.
ROUND 1 MATCHUPS:
Side A:
1: Lily Hoshikawa (Zombieland Saga) vs Pearl (Splatoon) -> Lily Hoshikawa (WINNER!)
I have too many ideas and not enough dedication or inspiration to follow through with any of them. I also tend to write with a specific character name and personality in mind because it's awkward writing in the second person (I usually write for myself and my own eyes). None of these fics would have anything to do with each other (ex. Asuka and Misako both attend Inarizaki, but they don't exist in each other's worlds).
please do NOT use my ideas, with OR without asking or giving credit!!
"Memories"
Character: Shimizu Asuka (not related to Kiyoko lol)
Love interest(s): unsure; Miya Atsumu; Kita Shinsuke; Kageyama Tobio
Backstory / Notes: second year; prodigy setter and captain of Inarizaki's girls team; has to recover after a su!cide attempt after losing at Interhigh; highkey the player I want to become
"A Christmas Miracle"
Character: Miyazaki Sakura (did not realize how close this name was to Le Sserafim's Sakura but I like the sound of it too much)
Backstory / Notes: first year; ex-foil fencer; assistant manager of Fukurōdani; meets a bunch of characters at the summer training camp in Tokyo and a Christmas charity tournament (made up for the story); Sakura's harem; seriously how tf do I develop like ten relationships over the course of one week for the tournament and three days for Nationals
Backstory / Notes: second year; journalist and assistant manager of Karasuno; kind of OP with writing and intelligence; the writer I want to be (I rly just write my characters as the people I wish I was)
"Street Kid's Rebellion"
Character: Akiyama Sora
Love interest(s): Akaashi Keiji
Backstory / Notes: first year; street kid; Akaashi is her tutor but no tutoring actually gets done; student at Fukurōdani; story is hopefully dreamy and ethereal but lowkey tragic
"Wooden Bells"
Character: Hayashi Misako
Love interest(s): Kita Shinsuke
Backstory / Notes: third year; childhood friends with Kita; moved to Miyagi after an accident at home; moves back to Hyōgō for third year and enrolls in Inarizaki; manager of Inarizaki
Backstory / Notes: first year; prodigy setter and opposite hitter for Nekoma (running a 6-2); also kind of OP
"Captain Flies"
Character: Kimura Aimi
Love interest(s): unsure; leaning toward none
Backstory / Notes: third year; captain and libero for Karasuno's girls team; essentially leads the team to Nationals (I want them to win but honestly it'd be unrealistic)
"Rule the Court!"
Character: Sakamoto Yuri
Love interest(s): unsure; Oikawa Tōru
Backstory / Notes: third year; captain and ace for Aoba Johsai's girls team; top three women's ace in Japan; leads the team to Nationals
"Silent Wolves"
Character: the whole fcking team is made up
Love interest(s): unsure
Backstory / Notes: a team known for being absolutely silent on the court; may be a bit OP; attend some sort of training camp or charity tournament with other teams; the team dynamic I want but is completely unrealistic
I want to state right here that I love Japanese and can read/speak it more or less (I can't write it, because my handwriting is ugly and I lack practice), but ever since I came back with Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V and I fell in love again of the characters and Connectshipping I realized that except for Yūya, Yuzu, Ruri and Ray who have a family, the rest of the dimensional counterparts do not have a last name. While in the Arc-V manga the Yu-boys share the last name Sakaki, in the anime they don't, so I took the liberty of giving them all last names. These last names were chosen because they were somehow related to them.
I'll do the Yu-boys part first, putting the only boy who has a last name in the anime canon:
Yūya Sakaki [榊 遊矢]
Yūya, being the protagonist, his name begins with the usual Yū (遊) that he shares with all his predecessors and successors, which means Play. The Ya (矢) that ends up composing his name means Arrow.
The surname Sakaki (榊) refers to the Cleyera japonica, an evergreen tree that is relevant in Shinto ceremonies, where it acts as a conduit for the kami (gods).
Now let's move on to the guys who don't have a last name in the anime canon:
Yūto [ユート]
I gave my beloved Yūto, my favorite and a dark boy with a taste for ghost knights, the last name Yatōgami (夜刀神) which is composed of Night (夜, Ya), Sword/Katana (刀, Tō) and God (神, Kami/Gami).
His name in the anime is written in katakana and therefore has no meaning, so I took the one from the manga that is in kanji. Yūto is composed with the Yū of Play (遊) and the To refers to the constellation Ursa Major (斗).
— Yūto Yatōgami (夜刀神 遊斗, Yatōgami Yūto).
Yūgo [ユーゴ]
Yūgo, precious child of sun and sky, also his name in the anime is written in katakana and without meaning, but taking the manga it is written with the Yū of Play (遊) and the Go of "Myself" (吾).
His last name, Hayashi, is written with Fast (速, Haya) and Ruler (司, Shi). Fits my boy with bike well.
— Yūgo Hayashi (速司 遊吾, Hayashi Yūgo).
Yūri [ユーリ]
Ah, Yūri, precious sadist of my soul, this baby, just like his counterparts, his name is written in katakana and has no meaning, so I once again took the name from the manga and gave it to this tradition-following beauty and begins with Yū of Play (遊) and ends with Ri of Town/Village (里).
The surname, Niwa, is a homophone that in Japanese means Garden, but is written with the kanji for Vermilion (丹, Ni) and Ring/Circle (輪, Wa).
— Yuri Niwa (丹輪 遊里, Niwa Yuri).
Zarc [ズァーク]
I personally like to take the name Zarc as a nickname or alias that this guy created for himself or was given to him by others when he got into dueling, and to my liking, I gave this guy a Japanese name.
Yūhaku is made up of Play (遊, Yū) and a kanji spelling Koma-Inu, the lion-dogs that guard Shinto shrines (狛, Haku). This name came up while I was looking for words that sounded similar to the Japanese pronunciation of Zarc "Zāku", and I really liked Haku, so I added the characteristic Yū and that's how my headcanon of what is the Supreme Dragon King's real name came up.
Speaking of dragon kings, the last name I came up with for Zarc was Kōryū, which is spelled with Emperor (皇, Kō) and Dragon (竜, Ryū). This one came up while he was looking for words to replace the long (and chūnibyō) Haōryū and since I didn't want Ōryū because it was redundant, I started looking at words related to ruling. Originally the name was written with the kanji for Five in front, but it got long and ugly, so I removed it and I loved how it turned out.
Also, in case I needed his name to be non-Japanese, I ended up using someone else's headcanon and stuck with "Zachary Archer", which can be made into "Z-Arc".
— Yūhaku Kōryū (皇竜 遊狛, Kōryū Yūhaku).
— Zachary Archer.
If I do a fanfic, it's 90% likely that I'll use these names, because I'm picky and I don't like that they don't have last names. I'll do the girls' one another time, since I really liked the last name I gave Rin, so I want to show it off. Anyway, I already did the long part, so I end here.
[Written on Monday/15th. Feeling slightly better now, but the facts still hold true.]
(So...for the past few days, I have been browsing Netflix for...children's cartoon animation movies to (re-)watch.
Today, I came across something called..."Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank"?
(which, by the way, I thought was a comic/cartoon-adapted movie, but apparently it's an original one)
[This thing. Don't know what image to attach, so here is the thumbnail of the trailer.]
Like a mature adult, I decided to watch it.
And, like a definitely non-weeb (and because it's available, otherwise it would be very hard to find), I decided to watch it in Japanese.
The first voice I 100% recognised was Jimbo's: Tesshō Genda (玄田哲章) [Younger Toguro, Sengoku Basara's Takeda, City Hunter's Umibozu] (Samuel L Jackson in the original voice, by the way). Which...okay, I know Genda-san does dubs. He's the voice of Foghorn Leghorn, after all. His voice is very iconic, too. You can't miss it when he does a "battle cry" thingie (maybe it's because I first knew him as Toguro).
But the second one I kinda recognised was Ika Chu's (yes that's the character's name apparently), and I was like:
"Wait, is that Tomokazu Sugita (杉田智和)???" [Gintoki Sakata, Kyon, Escanor, Joseph Joestar and much more]
And I immediately thought: "No way, Sugita doesn't do dubs..."
"But I also cannot not recognise that voice, his voice is very iconic too (and I have known him for a considerable number of roles, starting from Gintoki)."
After the movie, I checked the (Japanese) Wikipedia page, and literally did Joseph's "Naisu!" pose:
It really is Tomokazu Sugita.
And, to add on Sugita's role as Joseph Joestar: Apparently Hank's voice is Yū Hayashi (林勇), who voices Smokey Brown.
Not gonna lie, I somehow found that very funny.
"NIGERUNDAYO, SMOKEY!!!!!"
There are also apparently other (JoJo) casts, like Tomokazu Seki (関智一) [Enrico Pucci] and Junichi Suwabe (諏訪部順一) [Leone Abbacchio/Younger D'Arby], who voice Chuck and Ichirou respectively. But I couldn't recognise them while I was watching (probably because they are using some silly voices, instead of the ones you hear shouting "Whitesnake!!!" or "Moody Blues!!!")
And of course, Tesshō Genda voices Impostor Captain Tennille/Dark Blue Moon from Stardust Crusaders...if you remember who that is.
(the "Onii-chan!" guy if that helps)
Also also, I may write another entry about this later on...but I would like to meet whoever decided to hire Akio fucking Ōtsuka (大塚明夫) [Wamuu, All For One, Uvogin, Saint Seiya's Hades] to voice Jimmy Crystal.)
[Shits and giggles end here. Much more personal stuff below.]
Maybe because I am still a student, I divide periods of my life into school years (instead of...you know, "real years").
Truth be told: This school year has been very bad for me.
Not because something bad happened (not something sudden and catastrophic), but because...nothing happened. I did nothing...outside school.
(Well, I had an internship interview during my very bad time in January, which was my first "job interview", and which was also my first unsuccessful "job interview").
And school is so super damn busy and stressful, that it is hard to do anything outside school.
I mentioned in my last...personal post, that I have been feeling mood swings. Some days are better (which are the days you see me liking and sharing posts, such as mid-February to early-March), and some days are absolutely bad (which are the days you don't see me at all).
Such as now. The reason why I am watching random stupid shit on Netflix is because, otherwise, I would be lying on my bed doing nothing. So I might as well be lying on my bed doing something. I can't sleep, because I have been sleeping too much already. I did try reading too, but I guess my mind is a bit too exhausted/overwhelmed to do that.
(I know I also should be spending at least some time socialising (a massive sorry to all my Discord server-mate seeing this), which is a "how to feel better" self-help tip I see in every single article. But whenever I am feeling bad, I just tend to...disappear. I know I should stop doing that, and I have been saying I will stop doing that. Sorry.)
Honestly, I shouldn't even be watching something on a Monday (it's my day off, but it's still a weekday, and I still have homework to do). I did go to school (to get out of home, at least), but I really had no energy to work today.
Okay, I actually have no energy nor interest to do...anything at all. I know it's waterfowl breeding season soon, and I haven't been to a park in...months. Which is definitely a sign that something is wrong with me.
This "on-and-off but constantly feeling bad on average" pattern reminds me of another past school year. A year I still dread and regret whenever I think about it.
Moreover, now that the Undertale cringe is one-year-old, I have successfully failed to create anything for a year.
Which is not ideal, and I have been saying this since last summer vacation. Because things have not been okay since then. My WIPs are becoming four years old.
I also didn't do any "active" stuff at all since school started, like gaming. My Brok the InvestiGator progress is still around 50%, so I have been dodging spoilers like mad. I tried to mod and play Skyrim a bit, but no big progress whatsoever (Vilja is still waiting for me to complete her quest). I know DD2 just dropped last month, but I haven't even bought it yet.
The only things I have done were "passive" things like watching shows/movies and reading fics. And sometimes even those stopped, when I am feeling really bad.
The reason why I am writing this is because "writing your feelings down" is another "how to feel better" self-help tip I see in every single article. I used to keep a diary where I did exactly this every day, but the habit sort of...faded away (during the aforementioned bad past school year, probably because I was too sad to write down how sad I was every day).
I don't have a cool/motivational ending to this, so I will just end it abruptly here.
Today is the day, last year when Haikyuu's manga ended and I had just gotten into Haikyuu. I find it ironic in every sense that it's opening chapter is titled "Endings And Beginnings"....because when it ended, I had just begun getting into it.
There's something about haikyuu and why it's affected me/inspired me and made me root for it and as much as I want to say, "yes it's Oikawa", I'm not going to..... Because at one point I hated oikawa's nerves, his serves ... And his guts.
A little later about our pretty boy setter and more about haikyuu at large. I also feel like I'd never have words to express how much I love something or what that something has done for me.
Haikyuu opened up the world for me, a world that was full of light and hope. To say that it's simply a story of a orange haired short volleyball playing kid - Hinata Shoyo, is true but also a plain act of disservice to the story and the character. Haikyuu starts with Hinata and Kageyama but takes you far beyond just them, to others who have similar dreams and aspirations who's lives have touched us just as much our little ball of sunshine and angry milk chugging stars did.
I see myself in Hinata, in Oikawa, in Sugawara and in so many others....rooting for them, feeling their emotions and being part of their victories and failures. That's what good storytelling is...that is what haikyuu's impact is.
Funny enough, even until 2019 I wasn't into anime at all let alone haikyuu... I remember seeing something about haikyuu and just very ignorantly thinking to myself... Anime is not for me and I'm definitely never getting into haikyuu.
Oh, and how the tables have turned now!
I can't stop raving about the show/manga, how I draw inspirations from the story and the characters still or how I miss them even after all this time.. (Oikawa... *coughs*)
As I mentioned I'm terrible at writing down how I feel about haikyuu because alot of people have already written such beautiful indepth pieces about the show that I would no doubt pale in comparison.
To simply put haikyuu's made a mark and it'll find itself a permanent place in the heart of my mind, as piece of fiction that has inspired my writing and storytelling.
I will always be forever grateful to Furudate Sensei for creating this masterpiece and to Yuki Hayashi for giving us some of the most memorable music..... Happy Haikyuu day!
"what is the view like from the top of summit?"
I've wondered that too... I'm hoping to find that out too and someday like Hinata I will find out what that view looks like and what being on top of that summit feels like... Until then.
