Everything that was not red died for me in that bloody vision.
Grace was my refuge, my only friend when the storm came and shook my naked body until almost break it. She covered my naked body when i tried kill myself in the forest with her own hands, and took me with her.
In my darkest night, In the midst of my cries of pain, his voice was there beside me. -They will always live in your heart, let them live-Grace said to me.
Between my alcoholic mists she pushed the bottle away from me, filling me with new hopes of salvation.
-Do not erase your pain with alcohol, let it out. I have seen what alcohol does to men for years, let the longing for your family rest in peace. Even Christ fell. Even your spirits are in pain, is not a shame let the feelings go out, Declan.
Then i remember how i barely saw her face in middle of that darkness of that High room where she had locked up so I would not do myself any harm.
I only remember what i felt. The acts I did, every movement, every push and every corner to which I submitted to Grace. Everything was reprehensible. Everthing was made in the name of the pain.
In the name of the pain I felt for the loss of mines I let go of all the desire I felt for her, that's the truth.
In the name of mourning and doom, blindness, and as price for what , she demanded of me for doing what she told me, not to crumble at all and to take my life, I demanded her body.
She covered my wet mouth with her mouth instead with the bottle of alcohol and when i caught her, I never let her go again. For days I was pouncing on her like a hungry beast, and we were both part of the darkness. I stripped her of her clothes, broke her pants with those hands that were claws, not hands. I accidentally scratched her body as she opened like a flower almost begging me not to devour her in my pain, my impetus. I stole her virginity when i did not have right. This treasure of her, destined for another man. For her true love, but at same time mine...only MINE...
I whispered in her ear words in my own tongue, and after making love to her I embraced her in the dark as if i was a child in search of his mother, in search of my red angel. We were lovers, but we kept after that time this madness in our minds, the hiddest possible. I left that room when my mind came to me. And now after such years, she receive me as her friend, she yet helps me as she just would have met me. Such is her good heart. Such is her sweetness with me. I feel that i love her with all the few strenght that my heart is capable of, everytime i see her, eveytime she take my hand and ask me to stop. I feel that i´d kiss her lips and i´d want search my salvation with her. But Nuna and my children, they´re dead, they are my past and they´re my reason. Now the only truth between Grace and me is our mutual friendship and alliance. The Ashes of our reprehensible encounter are already part of the past. We are both like two acquaintances, like two distant siblings that we visit sometimes and we help each other kindly. My loyalty to her has grown, as hers to me. There is no longer that passion forced by pain more than small lashes that harass us both sometimes, but still hurt. In her face I read the pain, I know that against her will still awaits me. And I hope she saves me, though it will never happen. We are two friends in the middle of a war, two acquaintances with no more right than respect. Everything has been left behind, but with memories, with reticence. I repeat to myself the name of my wife. "Nuna, Nuna". Revenge is my only reason to live now, and Grace's is survival. That's all we have left. None of us will prevail any furth, i don´t know when i will come back to her again. All what i have is my hate, and that hate does not have the Grace´s name. But Benton´s.
But i know one thing: -Who was she? -Someone will ask me when the gates of death open to receive me, and my ancestors await me smiling, while the horses run in the white meadow , full of cotton and the dogs sleep before our tents, the snow falling without cooling, shining the sun without burning. But I will not say the name that everyone is waiting for. Not if I want to be with them again. -Grace Emberly- will be the name I will respond to. Not because I am not going to enter in The Sacred Prairie, in that heaven where my wife and son are waiting, where my father kisses my mother on the cheek, and where my mother offers me the first flowers of the season. But because Grace was my “She” and would be again & again if I lived a thousand of lives more. This never will change.

Aight so now that I have finished Brothersong I have THOUGHTS on further logistical breakdowns of how Green Creek could be adapted to a GLAAD Award-Winning HBO TV show. Spoilers so here is a cut for anyone who wants to be fresh to the series.
PRE-PRODUCTION
OKAY SO! The filming block for Season 1/Wolfsong would MOST LIKELY be the biggest, especially for scenes involving younger versions of the actors. As these are spread out across, like, all four books, some are just “scene we’ve seen but from a different perspective or with ‘Dream Seauence VFX’ so we just need more blocking/extra takes to make it all seem believeable using B-roll” to “yeah this requires Young Thomas and various child actors so we’re filming this beforehand so that everyone looks the same when these scenes come up later” to “ah hell we gotta shave their heads anyways might as well film the revenge road trip.” Thus, basically everyone but, like, Dominique would have to be cast by Season 1, and probably all of Season 1 and half of season 2 would need to be written and finalized and drafts/outlines of Season 3 and 4 would need to be made before casting would begin. Writer’s room would include TJ and a racially-diverse LGBT staff.
Caswell wouldn’t need to be fully built but enough of a location would be needed to film individual scenes with the younger actors and scenes set in the big house at Caswell (ie arguments between Mark and Thomas, Joe being taken, Thomas in the woods with the kids, Thomas writing the letters)
Title sequence would be based on the lovely new covers for the hardcover editions from Tor. They’d get longer with each season and by the end we see the whole pack in the papercraft style of the covers.
CASTING
Yeah we’d need a big ass cast. With multiple actors to play different characters at different ages.
Babies:
Carter, Kelly, Joe, maybe also Gavin depending on things
Children:
Gordo, Gavin, Mark, Rico, Chris, Tanner, Carter, Kelly, Joe, Robbie
Young Adult (ie Teen to Mid 20s) and Adult (ie by the Rough Present of when Ox first discoveres the secret of the Bennetts)
Basically everyone else
The tricky part will be that, yeah, there will probably need to be different actors for 20s Thomas, Elizabeth, Mark, and Gordo because while a 20-something can play 16 or so, its harder for 30-40 year olds to play 20-something. The upside being that an older actor CAN play Gordo for the scenes after Ox’s dad leaves (also Ox’s dad will need a name lol). You would need to switch to older actors for the Bennett kids and Ox basically once Ox graduates high school. But then you can keep all the same actors for the rest of the “present” set scenes. Osmond, and Robert Livingstone would also need younger actors. Richard Collins would only need one actor he’s barely in the flashbacks as it is.
STRUCTURE/PLOT RAMBLINGS
There are a few things that would need to be done in order to improve the pacing for TV, imo. Mainly, that the handing off of Alpha of All to the Fairbanks pack needs to feel more earned and less semi-random. Like, show them taking in Omegas at the end of Season 2, have them be allies at Caswell in Season 3 and the final battle in Season 4. Flesh them out a bit more. Also some continuity smoothing would be needed (ie clarifying that Gordo refused Mark’s MATE bite not Thomas’s BECOME WOLF bite).
Some more forshadowing of Robert’s failsafe in Season 2 would help. Obviously SHOW Gavin’s timber wolf in the attack on Jessie (and ideally have the actor be the body actor wearing the CGI ball suit moving all wolf-like in the scene) in Season 1.
I’d personally add in more of a wrap-up in Caswell at the end of Season 4. And also an extended aftermath scene or episode after Ox’s resurrection. Joe’s wolf is still bigger than almost everyone else, but not as big as it was when he was Alpha. One thing that I’d ask to be added is, maybe with the death of Robert and the ressurrection of Ox there’s a big ass magic pulse and we get a follow-up with the new Alpha of All from Alaska training Betas who have become Alphas thanks to Mystical Moon Magic as they rebuild packs across the continent. Idk the story needs more of a denumont. Alpha of All making more of an effort to try and bring Omegas back from the brink before just automatically deciding to kill them.
Dominique could have human bite marks on her to show thar Jessie tried to “Mate Bite” too even as a human. Bambi and Rico too.
He/They Gavin? Maybe? Gavin feels very he/they. Also Elizabeth showing affection to Maggie (hey if we’re gonna imply that Thomas and Richard had a kind of romantic love for each other in Brothersong before he went Omega Lizzie can make side-eye at Maggie).
Show more of the three year gap between Ravensong and Heartsong (not a lot but more than just one bit when Robbie is kidnapped). And the new story in the deluxe hardcover books too. The myth or whatever. That can be animated in a sketchy style (think Princess Kaguya or Wolfwalkers) with VO from Elizabeth.
Anyway rambling over I love these books so much. TJ I woudn’t say no to a LIGHT DRAMA/mostly fluff 5th book or short story. Maybe from Chris or Tanner’s perspective? Or Jessie’s?

JEN LINDLEY IS AROACE - a deep dive.
jen lindley from Dawson’s Creek is asexual and aromantic
disclaimer: I’m not claiming this is canon. I just think Jen can be interpreted as aroace.
#1: “Attracted to? What do you mean attracted to?”
On DETENTION (1x07) the kids are playing truth or dare, and there’s this dialogue
Joey: “out of all the guys in Capeside is Dawson the one you’re most attracted to?”
Jen: “Do I like Dawson the most? Yeah, of course”
Joey: “No, I didn’t ask if you like him the best, I asked you if he’s the one you’re most attracted to”
Jen: “what do you mean ‘attracted to?’”
Jen can’t comprehend the concept of attraction in the context joey brought it up (sexual attraction).
She’s pressured by everyone to answer it and that makes her very uncomfortable and annoyed.
Joey says “Do you LUST for him?”
Jen says “it’s a stupid question.”
Jen is further pressured by her peers, and then she says “it’s a stupid question because the answer is yes! Obviously the answer is yes. I lust for Dawson. I’m hot for Dawson. Maybe if you spent less time dwelling on me and Dawson you might’ve a boyfriend of your own”
By her tone it’s possible to tell that she’s just saying that she’s sexually attracted to Dawson just to get out of the situation she was put in.
It’s also an asexual experience to not understand sexual attraction.
Tumblr media
#2: casual sex as a form of validation and coping mechanism
During season 2 Jen is an extremely vulnerable situation. This explains why she chased Dawson after their breakup, it was because she was lonely and sad and vulnerable, not out of love for him.
She’d just lost her grandfather, she’s grieving. And she also doesn’t have the support of people she considered to be her friends.
Pacey is caught up in Andie. Dawson and Joey are always caught up in their own little drama. She doesn’t have parents. Her grandmother doesn’t understand her.
On THE ALL NIGHTER (2X07) Chris Wolfe is persistently chasing her.
Dawson comes into the picture and tells him not to take advantage of Jen’s current vulnerability. He also “warns” Jen about it, and Jen tells him she’s aware of Chris Wolfe’s intentions and that it doesn’t mean she has to go along with it.
But considering she was rejecting him previously on the episode and that after they had sex, jen was clearly unhappy, this was a coping mechanism.
This is recurring on season 2.
Tumblr media
#3: Henry Parker
Jen Lindley did NOT want to be in a relationship with Henry Parker. He basically harassed her. And Jack and Grams kept telling her that she should go out with him.
She did it because that’s what she was expect to. Not out of feelings for him.
Tumblr media
On THE TWO GENTLEMAN OF CAPESIDE (4X03) Jen tells Pacey she regrets the fact that she’s never been in love. To what Pacey says “what about Henry?”. Jen answers “That wasn’t love. Couldn’t be”
Jen had been in other relationships besides Henry (including Dawson Leery) but she canonically wasn’t in love with anyone!
Tumblr media
#4: Kissing Jack
On WINTER’S TALE (4X14) both Jen and Jack are feeling sad and lonely, and they’re drunk and then they kiss.
It’s brought up by her therapist that she pursues relationships that are doomed to fail as a sort of self-sabotage.
But this doesn’t necessarily it’s only about her mental health. It’s common for aroace people to pursue unattainable people, (or to think they have feeling for said people) because subconsciously they don’t really want to be with them romantically or sexually.
#5: sleeping with Dawson to prove a point.
On HOTEL NEW HAMPSHIRE (5X08) Jen and Dawson are talkings about the reason why they didn’t workout on season one.
Dawson says he knows why they didn’t work out
Jen asks why
Dawson: You weren’t physically attracted to me
Jen: is that what you think?
then she kisses him and they have sex. It’s so clear that she’s doing it to prove a point. Not because she’s actually sexually attracted to him.
During a lot of season one (especially DETENTION, this topic is continuously brought up by Dawson, he fully believes she’s not attracted to him and bitches about the fact that she doesn’t want to have sex with him yet while simultaneously slut-shaming her for her past - important reminder that jen was frequently sexually assaulted as child, and Dawson being the trash he is made her out to be a villain for it)
#6: “you belong to me”
Jen has never loved anyone romantically. Especially not as much as she loved her platonic soulmate Jack McPhee

(contd) Like the twins want in on Scott's pack and Derek literally asks them if they'd be willing to die for him because to Derek anything less is just not gonna cut it.
Then the twins want to run bc of the Nogitsune and Derek has his whole speech about what an amazing leader Scott is.
Derek and Scott's heart to heart at the hospital has Derek going all "yeah you have the same place as protector of this town as my late mother and family and everybody needs you and you have taught me so much."
Tumblr media
It always mystifies me when I read certain people's criticism of Teen Wolf: The Movie. These criticisms fall into three main categories.
Too much attention is paid to Scott and Allison's relationship.
How can you bring the nogitsune back without bringing back Stiles?
Derek's death and its aftermath was pointless and unfounded.
Rebuttals of the first two criticisms deserve their own metas, but I'll give them a brief summary. If you carefully watched the first three seasons, Scott and Allison's relationship was the foundation of the show, not in terms of consuming romance, but in terms of how it helped Scott and Allison define who they are in the face of exterior forces, which is a key part of growing up. While Stiles was the focus of the action in 3B, the story was still mostly about Scott's maturing as a leader by giving him a Kobayashi Maru: a no-win scenario pitting his desire to protect others against his love for his best friend. But it is the third criticism that I'll address in this post.
Derek's death at the end of the movie is a tragedy. This can't be stressed enough, but it is also a culmination to his entire character arc. The end of Season 3A saw him renounce the fear of loss and desire for power that almost doomed him that season, made him an antagonist in Season 1 and a villain in Season 2. His departure at the end of Lunar Ellipse (3x12) symbolizes both that renunciation but also indicates his arc for 3B: what will he become?
He starts with a journey to the past. "But that's not the only reason I left. I needed to talk to my mother." He finds Talia's claws, coerces Peter into using them, and then emerges with a new vision of himself. In Riddled (3x18), he acknowledges the passing of the alpha mantle to Scott (and I would argue begins to act as Scott's beta) with "This town needs someone to protect it, someone like you." but it's very important to note that while he is inspired by Scott, he does not emulate Scott. Following another person doesn't require the obliteration of self. Derek works with Chris Argent and he doesn't take killing Stiles off the table the way Scott does. He physically attacks him. He doesn't rush to Oak Creek, because he can be more helpful rescuing the twins from what will turn out to be Kate.
We see that in the way he talks about Scott throughout the season. It may look like he wants to join the Scott McCall Fan Club, but he rejects that, even in his big speech in The Divine Move (3x24). This is the key line: "You've had it wrong the whole time. You don't fight for a leader. You fight for a leader's cause." He's going to work with Scott, protect what Scott decides needs protection, and even be Scott's beta, but he's going to be his own person while doing so. He learned this from Scott who was willing to work with him in the first three season but who wasn't willing to simply do as he's told. He learned this, in a negative way, from Peter who manipulated him repeatedly, in Visionary's flashback (3x08), in Wolf's Bane (1x09), in Battlefield (2x11), in Alpha Pact (3x11).
Unlike Scott, who chooses to place the most value on life (but not above everything), Derek's more than willing to kill victims like Stiles in order to protect the town, as he tried in De-Void (3x22), but unlike his attempts to kill Lydia in Season 2, he's not doing it out of fear. In addition, as he says to the twins, he also believes he should be willing to die to protect what he cares about as well as kill. This manifests in his willingness to die in Season 4, and that willingness allows him to evolve. However, it's a reaction to what Kate did to him, not a decision to die in order to achieve an end. In the movie, however, it is an active choice. The nogitsune will never stop coming for his family, his alpha, his friends, and he makes the decision to sacrifice his life in order to prevent that. He doesn't do out of a reaction to the horrific memories of the Hale Fire; he's does it because he values family and pack; that's virtue. He's not doing because he's mindlessly following Scott or being manipulated by Peter, but out of own conviction that it is the right thing to do, which is strength of character. He faces fire, the same terror that destroyed his first family, without fear, which is force of will. He didn't mimic Scott's path to a new set of red eyes; he forged his own.
As tragic as it was, how could it be anything but satisfying?

I made it a challenge to myself to watch all the teen dramas, and I think I have finally watched them all (at least the classics). Since I have finished all the teen soaps, I think I shall rate them with my bias opinions (this is 2010s and later only)....
#1: Teen Wolf. I debated adding the supernatural ones to this list, but alas I had to. This show is #1 because it embodied everything teen drama with actually good acting, an iconic villain (Void!Stiles) and a ship I would die for (Stydia). this show had everything the teen dramas were hoping for, there is an actually lovable main character, an even more loved best friend, and an epic story of romance and saving the world every day while still in highscool. what more could you ask for?
#2: since supernatural teen soaps are in this, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will always have my heart. This show went beyond teen angst and became a much deeper, emotional show as it matured with the audience, but it will forever be a classic and would make #1 if it weren't for the whole deeply moving and painful season where Buffy grappled with wanting to be dead and trying not to hate her friends from tearing her away from heaven.
#3: Gossip Girl. This show had everything a teen drama could ask for. Rich people, more rich people who just acted like they were poor but they lived in a giant apartment in Brooklyn, love triangles, back and forth will they or won't they, and the best mystery of the 2000s: who is GG??? the best part about this show was I loved to hate every character on this show, and it made me even more invested every episode.
#4: The OC. This might come to a shocker to most, but this show (though was a little too serious sometimes) was the only teen drama I watched where they had almost as much humor as they did angst. Summer and Seth were the soul of this show, truthfully, and it was the only teen angst show that had me loving every character by the end. It embodied the essence of highschool teen drama shenanigans like any TV show would attempt and misrepresent and I forever will love it for it.
#5: The Vampire Diaries. This show gets #5 for iconic stats only, if I'm honest. However there's something about tvd that makes me want to rewatch just about every new month. With the most iconic couple, Damon and Elena as a plus, theres still the epically annoying love triangles, it's poor acting, and the never ending amount of necks these vampies snapped. this show will always baffle me for its pull on ppl (me included) with some of the most annoying main characters to exist leading most the show. The entire TVD franchise is attached to this, because I refuse to add any of the other spins offs in this list.
#6: One Tree Hill. This show, if being rated for this soap opera plots alone, would've been #1 on this list. One Tree Hill was the embodiment of pointless fighting, ridiculous plots, and epic love triangles. Nothing beats how this show idolized basketball, and how it demonized a dad that never had any real reason to be such a horrible dad. like seriously, why did he hate Lucas sm??? it was never really ever explained. For me personally, this show made #6 merely because I'm a girl who loves a good ship, and there was never a ship I was ever truly invested in for this show. Naley was lovely, but I never could get too invested in any of these characters. They were always very 2 dimensional and had very little growth (aside from Nathan and Brooke, obviously).
#7: Veronica Mars. This show honestly belongs up there with BTVS with its witty dialougue, interesting and dramatic myteries, love to hate characters, and the epic love story that is LoVe. however it gets knocked down to 7th place due to its lack of an ending and then the creator's absolutely ruining the entire show by giving us one more season with the worst ending to exist (and I've seen HIMYMs ending).
#8: Dawson's Creek. This show is a mix of hate and love for me, though it does hold a special place in my heart. It belongs higher up the list for its wordy dialogue, perpetual declarations of love and the meaning of life, and its never ending love triangle. I loved Pacey, Joey, Jen, and Jack very dearly in this show. They all were precious characters who all grew up tremendously (especially Jen and Pacey). and of course, Pacey and Joey's love story might just be one of the best ones in all of teen dramas. however, it gets demoted down to the lonely number 8 because I simply just did not like Dawson. Sadly, it being called Dawson's Creek, he was quite a regular in the show, too. even plots usually circulated around him most episodes. He was self righteous, selfish, narcissistic, a manipulator, and truly he never changed until the final episodes. I always thought I hated Elena in tvd, but at least with Elena she meant good. Dawson wanted nothing but his way, and most of his actions (like his hate for Pacey) were purely because he was a whiny baby that hated that he didn't get what he wanted. I mean, Pacey and Joey were literally fighting about telling him - on their way to tell him in that very moment. Joey was the one who didn't want to tell Dawson the most - and yet Dawson spent the rest of the show (until the final episodes) hating his best friend for simply loving someone Dawson decided he had dibs on. Joey and Pacey were the only thing that kept me watching, since Jack and Jens plots were few and far between the longer the show went on.
#9: This placement really is just for all the other teen dramas I left out, especially for the shows that were an odd mix of drama and comedy, or never really had any opportunity to fall into any of the classic teen drama trends. some honorable mentions would be Freaks and Geeks, Gilmore Girls, Degrassi (I just refuse to watch Degrassi, tbh), Charmed, and 90210.
#10: and last and most certianly least, Pretty Little Liars. I hated this show, and truthfully never finished the last seasons. I just skipped and watched the finale because I became so irritated with every aspect of this entire series. However, it's start was good, and I will always remember the thrill of watching the first season and trying to peice together just who A really was.

i think jonathan's music choice would be accompanied with a brief lecture on how important it is in relation to how much fear and horror it can provide. for a song to be on his "enjoy" list, it has to either be jaunty enough that he can imagine it playing as he goes about his business or just magically creepy enough to evoke a sense of absolute terror when he hums it quietly 💚

there's so much melancholy in this, but it's also so beautiful, so it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth that's kind of enjoyable. also, reaping what you sow, it's a good message
eagle rock - daddy cool
used perfectly in the soundtrack to wolf creek, it's an absolute joy when a song so filled with joy can become so synonymous with the dreadful feeling as we fear what's to come after it's finished playing
wonderful, wonderful - johnny mathis
used perfectly to denote the arrival of fear in a particular episode of the x-files (season 4, episode 2, "home") the smooth romance lends itself nicely to that creepy feeling that comes along with nostalgia
main titles (beetlejuice soundtrack) - danny elfman
this is the perfect "driving to work/crimes/drug deals" music. it just gives any journey an added bounce! and isn't that michael keaton just super hot when he's betelgeuse? far more than he is in any... other... roles
twilight time - the platters
there's nothing more romantic than the dark of night, the shadows, the cool air, the all-consuming black, or calming purples and morose blues? this is the kind of thing he would dance to at a wedding
in dreams - roy orbison
if you can get past the imagery of the clown at the beginning, this song is actually far more terrifying than first glance might suggest. the loneliness, the desperation, losing someone and only having them in your imagination? absolutely deranged and unhinged romance
music box (the candyman soundtrack) - philip glass
if he were ever cursed to be responsible for a child, somehow, god forbid, this would 100% be the lullaby that played for the little cretin. it would set them off right in life
just - radiohead
is this really just wishful thinking? maybe jon isn't as much of a jigsaw-esque villain as he'd like to think. sure, people choose to take drugs, and sure they choose to sell them, but is it really a choice if the alternative is dying, starving, desolate and threatened?
i put a spell on you - screamin' jay hawkins
this is the kind of song he would listen to if he was really feeling it, like this is in his house on a saturday morning, eating pastries in his pants kind of music. absolute joy with a hint of wild attitude and the threat of control. very much jonathan crane
we've only just begun - the carpenters
i think jonathan is a sucker for nostalgia, for soft, romantic songs that can be manipulated and distorted and changed to make them send chills down your spine, which is what happens with this in the movie 1408

I'm gonna splash this on you cuz I got no one else to tell it who'll understand mebbe.
I've had this idea for a one-shot fanfiction that takes place in Wolf Creek season 2, following an extra person on the tour bus. They're not in a good headplace and going out to Oz is something of a planned last hurrah for them... Then the tour guide's been mysteriously replaced by this Mick fella.
Of course this person is keen on Mick, that's the point of the story isn't it? At the time when Mick pulled the bus off to let everyone wander around while he prepares the "refreshments" for everyone, is when this person goes ahead and shoots their shot. You see where I'm going with this, right?
Haven't written it, it just bops around my head a lot. I think the point of splashing it on you was to get to the point and say that the story ends with Mick offing the person, because of course he would. You've got to keep some things true to the canon.
That's it thanks ┌|*゚-゚|┘
Heheh, you write it I'll read it! Love doomed shit like that. All ears, I'm cheering you on from the sidelines.
I've actually got my own Wolf Creek fic in the works! Only one chapter posted so far and I'm taking a bit of a hiatus (bleh writer's block) but it's a small fandom so fingers crossed for both of us ay?

I love how there are 2 Wolf Creek movies, two seasons of the show, and two prequel novels. All of them messed, but providing different feelings.
Like Their first movie, season, and novel are all very serious and tense meant to be disturbing. And I'm saying this with the novels being far more intense.
That being said movie 2, season 2, and the second novel are messed up...but in a funny way.? Ugh, that's probably doesn't sound good. Also a little weird to say with Desolation Game as it's split between Mick on a current kill spree and his time in Vietnam. The later half is just appropriately unpleasant, but the rest of it I probably shouldn't have found so amusing. Seriously season 2 of the show is something that I love to watch on repeat. For real I think season 2 is so funny despite how many characters are getting messed up. Probably cause Mick is having slightly sillier interactions with everyone.

Somebody asked me about my favorite BL series and I wanted to make a list but then I thought it’d be more useful to make a list of series I recommend with LGTBIQ+ characters because in some cases they aren’t one of the main characters, or their love story/story happens just in one of the seasons or in individual episodes. If you want more details about any show or you just have any questions, you can always ask me in the chat where I’ll be happy to answer.
I had some doubts about including certain Asian series but I finally decided to add them if I have given them at least 7 out of 10 stars on MyDramaList because even if they could be improved, I think they still have some enjoyable elements and they are worth checking out.
The shows are ordered chronologically and by nationality. I know there are many more shows but I haven’t included anything I’ve not seen (at least 1 season or enough chapters to have an opinion) and obviously, I’ve omitted those with less than 7 stars.
Since these are all shows that I recommend, I decided to make a list of my favorite series at the end as well as I was asked. I tried to make it a top 20 but it was impossible.
I’ll edit this post when I have more series to add or if I’ve forgotten any.
It’s also on AO3.  EDIT: Updated on AO3 > 12.8.2022 / Posted; 31.7.2022

Where the Monsters Live - a teen wolf meta
I haven't written a teen wolf meta in some time not because I think everything has been said but it's hard to open a conversation when no one is listening. But with the movie coming I think it's finally time for me to explain the Nightbreed thing.
Because I keep mentioning it and then never explain why.
There are inspirations I can prove [Event Horizon], there are those I know are absolutely true but there's not QUITE enough information [Legacy of Kain] and then there's Nightbreed.
Davis knows Clive Barker's work, I can prove that  easily - [a three part mega meta about Hellraiser and Peter] but then there's Nightbreed.
If Hellraiser is about want Nightbreed is about the outsider. It is considered one of the first queer movies [one of the others, Nightmare on Elm Street 2 is heavily referenced in season 2 with Jackson] and where Freddy is an analogue for Jesse's homosexuality [or bisexuality, depending on how you read it] but Nightbreed has no easily determined as gay content but if it got any more queer I'd be surprised.
Jodorowski [the guy who wanted to make the animated Dune movie] called it the "the first truly gay fantasy horror epic," and hyped the slash potential between patient and doctor but other critics said that was a vast understatement. Tyler Coates argues that it represents queerness and otherness ""Because normalcy is subjective and based solely on how the majority defines it, it's important to establish mini-societies and cultures with people like you"
Nightbreed is the narrative is one of a young man [Aaron Boone] who is manipulated by a male authority figure [Decker] into believing himself a monster and seeking a sanctuary becomes a literal monster. Or Clive Barker, a gay man writing in the UK in the 1980s [the same period Sandman was written to give you some context] who took the idea of "if you will make me the monster I will show you how monstrous I can be" with the idea of the monster as victim. Boone, who only wants to belong, becomes their saviour because he wants to save a single person, a human who takes his side.
Unfortunately before I can take this further with the narrative I have to explain the second narrative = the one of the movie. Barker wrote Cabal and all was good, then because of the popularity of Hellraiser he was approached by Morgan Creek who thought that Cabal [a novella] would be easier to adapt than Weaveworld. Burned by previous adaptations of his work [Rawhead Rex - as bad as you think it might be it's actually worse] Barker agreed as long as he could direct [as he did with Hellraiser] but he was tortured by studio execs who recut the movie behind his back. When the movie came out everyone knew that it was a pasted together mess where they took the core narrative of monsters as victims [whilst still being monsters] with over an hour cut from the finished cut.  But the movie still formed a huge cult following.
Years later a VHS copy of the original work print which is the longest cut which restored the original ending and was so popular at horror conventions that Scream Factory convinced Fox to restore the original work and released it as the "Cabal Cut" [So that's three different versions with different narratives so far, the Theatrical Cut, the Directors cut, and the Cabal Cut] and that convinced Clive Barker to get back involved and he released a fourth cut.
So which one of these has Davis seen? All of the above.
As a teenager I found so much comfort in the Theatrical Cut and my mother, knowing how much it meant to me, once taped an entirely new cut off the BBC, which is probably the only one I can say that Davis HASN'T seen and it might be the shortest cut.
So yeah
the story is about Boone, a young man who has been and out of psychiatric care all of his life, in the book he has heard of Midian there and incorporated it into his own personal mythology, in the film he dreams of it. Boone's troubles include impotence [actually important] but over the past few months he has been doing better, he's weaned himself off his meds, he's in a healthy relationship with Lori [I'm unsure if the character in Teen Wolf is named for her or Lori Stroud] when his doctor, Decker [played by David Cronenberg! that David Cronenberg] who convinces Boone that he has been killing people in his sleep and he has to turn him in after killing 17 people including woman and kids. He gives Boone what he says are valium and Boone, tripping balls, walks in front of a truck.
In the hospital he meets a man called Narcisse who mentions Midian, to get more information Boone manipulates Narcisse into giving him directions and Narcisse determined that Boone take him with him peels off his face [in the movie it's everything on his head but his face], whilst the hospital is working to fix this Decker shows up with the police and Boone flees. With the directions he goes to Midian, in the book this is a cemetary next to an abandoned gold town, but in the film it's just a random cemetary in the wilds. There he falls asleep and wakes up to two of the "breed" Kinski and Peloquin who want to eat him, telling Boone he's an "innocent" [and killed nobody] Peloquin [who gets the best lines] bites Boone and chases him to the gates of the cemetary where Boone is confronted by the police. Decker convinces the police Boone has a gun and they shoot him dead.
In the movie we see Boone's body reawakening but in the book it's left "he's dead"
The story is then taken up by Lori who disbelieving of Boone's status as a "babykiller" wants to go to the place where he died and drives out there, meeting a woman called Cheryl [who has the second best lines in the movie] and goes to the cemetary where she finds a weird creature and a woman begging her to bring her out of the sunlight. lori does this and the creature turns into a child who cannot understand that the light hurts her because she's too little, and forms a bond between the two, her mother Rachel, tries to help Lori but is shut down by Doug Bradley. Going back into the sunlight Decker goes after Lori because he thinks Boone survived the shooting and now knows his secret - that HE is the serial killer. Boone comes to save her but he isn't alive, he's "beyond death". Narcisse interferes and Decker escapes.
Decker goes to the local motel kills everyone and then to the police station telling the police chief, Eigermann, that Boone is alive and he did it. Boone has been thrown out of Midian for threatening its security and Lori takes him to the motel where "everyone's dead, Dave", overwhelmed by the blood Boone eats some of the bits. Eigermann shows up and arrests him getting a doctor to prove he is "walking around in my fucking cell dead" and that Decker was right and he has helpers under the cemetary. A few deputies go to the cemetary and find Ohnaka, a peaceful breed who looks human, they drag him into the light and start one of the most uncomfortable scenes in horror as he starts to turn to dust and turns to each of them in turn but in their horror they push him away until he dies. If you can watch that scene without thinking oh it's a gay lynching I'll be very surprised.
Eigermann realising the sun is his best weapon puts together a mob of rednecks with all the weaponry they can find and attacks the cemetary and the necropolis beneath it. Understanding the vast majority of the "monsters" are perfectly harmless and incapable of defending themselves plans are put in place for them to flee but ....
okay here's where most of the changes happen, there's what happens in the book, what happens in the theatrical cut and what happens in the cabal/directors cut
in the book after springing Boone from jail he realises he is empowered [physically and sexually] by his change and returns to Midian to put up enough of a defence to get everyone out, he fights with Decker and kills him, trying to remove Midian's founder, Baphomet, he is rebranded Cabal who will gather up the nightbreed and find them a new home, Lori realising that he is immortal stabs herself so he has to turn her to save her life and they go off into the sunset. This is basically how the director's cut/cabal cut ends except sometimes Narcisse is killed by Decker, sometimes not. In the book Ashberry and Eigermann put together a monster hunting squad leaving the story open.
in the theatrical cut Boone releases the feral uncontrollable nightbreed, the berserkers to help them fight and is seen as victorious, the tag-along priest, Ashberry, finds Baphomet whose blood turns him into a sort of nightbreed and he resurrects Decker to help him hunt them down.
so- yeah, not much difference.
Now some of you will have already realised that the story of a young man manipulated by the one male role model he has and bitten, transformed into a beast and forced to become saviour with the help of his plucky love interest is what teen wolf seems to be without any digging. But that core doesn't QUITE work even with a cursory reading, because Scott doesn't want to save the monsters, he never sees the werewolves as anything BUT monsters and Boone's easy everyman status doesn't work with Scott at all, although Scott is easily as manipulative. And I wonder if the change between them, Scott's inability to be the saviour Boone becomes, Scott's unwillingness to do what Boone is happy to do [kill to protect], Scott's inability to give up Allison where Boone constantly tries to drive Lori away to keep her safe puts up this dissonance.
Yet the parallels are very really obvious which is why Nightbreed [never a good movie, an important movie, but it features ACTING!, matte paintings instead of landscapes, wooden and wobbling set stages, the best director in it is one of the hammiest actors] keeps coming up. You can't NOT mention it because the parallels are so clear but they're also so wonky.
When I rewatched Hellraiser I was surprised that the Frank/Julia thread in Teen Wolf was so apparent, and so thorough between Peter and Lydia, how the corruption of the mental health facilities was so blatant in both. It was in your face, with Nightbreed it's like Teen Wolf was made from the memory of the film he watched years before but it's all so deliberate. Making Scott a saviour would have been easier than what we got, a character who has all of Boone's worst traits and none of his good. Scott's costuming echoes James Sunderland from Silent Hill but Derek is dressed, especially in season 1, just like Boone. Derek's early incompetence is not something Boone ever struggles with and Boone was bitten where Derek was born. Deaton = Decker is easy but Deaton's motives are never revealed, Decker wants a scapegoat to keep killing and will do anything he can to do that, but Deaton never stops manipulating Scott, both in ways that are positive and negative.
Gerard and Eigermann are probably besties.
The concept of Monster = Victim is unique to barker, no one did it before or after to the same extent, there are plenty of "man is the real monster" but that's not quite what happens, the nightbreed ARE monsters, they include cannibals and people who can turn into animals and smoke, Dracula would fit right in and they'd feed him happily, but they are also children, the disabled, the ones who could never pass as human. And Barker, in Nightbreed's most famous quote puts it succinctly and sums up Teen Wolf very well which is why I'm SO adamant that they're related.
Rachel: "To be smoke, to be a wolf, to live for ever: it's not so terrible. You call us monsters but when you dream, you dream of flying and changing and living forever, you envy us, and what you envy..."
Lori: "we destroy."
What is Teen Wolf if not that envy, and a character who is both a wolf and a destroyer, one who envies but cannot accept anything else, who did not seek to join the monsters, and hates that he has become that. And in the hands of a better writer we wouldn't have the same Nightbreed dilemma, where it almost manages to say what it wants to say and what it does it does by accident and can't be considered "good" as much as resonant.Outcasts found in Nightbreed, in Midian, a place to belong, a place where their sins, both real and imagined, would be forgiven, where they would not be judged. The same is true of the mythical "Hale pack", judging by fandom and just numbers, more people are fascinated by the Hale Pack under Derek Hale, whose journey is less like Boone's than even Scott's even if they are dressed the same, [usually this fits SO well, Scott's comparison to James Sunderland is blatant, Stiles' story matches that of Angela in Silent Hill 2 who he dresses like at the same time as Scott first appears in the green jacket, his abuse by his mother is the same as  hers, although the Sheriff is a much better parent than Angel's father whom it is heavily implied sexually abused his daughter]
I could write books about the two of them, and why Nightbreed was so influential both on this and media in the wider sense, even when all we had was the theatrical cut people were writing books and albums and making works about Midian, even before fandom found its home on the internet people cosplayed named members of the 'breed, the Peloquin, Rachel, Lylesburg etc. But I've already written 2,5k words and I've barely scratched the surface.
Maybe what Davis wanted to write, because it's meatier between the teeth as a writer, was what if Boone didn't want to save the 'breed. What if he worked with Decker to bring about their destruction - and he botched the landing - hard.
