Loki seemingly making his exit from the MCU with his Season 2 finale...
while his other half Darcy Lewis is making her return to it for What If Season 2. Parallel lines never intersecting indeed. You cannot keep me down forever, Kevin Feige -- statistically those two are bound to be together somewhere in the multiverse! 💚⛓💜

Y'all.
Episode 4.
It's the best piece of work Marvel has made after they made IW and Endgame.
spoiler alert 🚨
.
.
.
.
.
.
lemme start off with our favourite Miss Jolly Rancher Unhinged Clock and Victorian-Era HWR Fangirl. I KNEW Ravonna had somehow helped HWR in building the TVA, but him erasing her memories was straight up evil.
Then we come to the absolutely gruesome deaths of Dox and the others. HOLY SHIT MISS JOLLY RANCHER IS AWFUL like she was enjoying every second of Dox and her hunters literally getting crushed to their deaths. B-15 was traumatised, to say the least and you can see on Ravonna and Brad's faces a hint of disgust. But Miss Minutes grinning like that - outright disturbing.
I can't get over OB and Victor fanboying over each other's work - it was so funny yet wholesome.
Now let's talk about Loki and Sylvie. As a diehard Sylki stan you know I am, my fangirling heart was overjoyed seeing these two lovesick ducks working together willingly! I mean, yea, they did have that rather awkward talk in Pie Land (mind you that's it's official name henceforth) but after that they worked together as teammates! Now I must say, I completely agree with Sylvie on snapping on Mobius, because, well, yeah, the multiverse is a bigger priority than pie and I legit don't get why tf antis hate on Sylvie for doing so. Like you hated her for not giving a damn abt the TVA + the multiverse, but now when she stood up to do so y'all are hating on her again?? Like?? Make up ur mind, smh.
Anyways, back to Sylki. Sylvie got stuck in the elevator and the way she and Loki worriedly called out each other's names was so soft! And the "You ok?" trope CAME BACK OMG! THAT PHRASE IS LITERALLY THE BACKBONE OF SYLKI! When I tell you my fangirling heart screamed with joy omg-
The the whole paradox scene which brought Ep 1 back in a circle. I absolutely loved the way our Loki realised what he had to do and went real slow to prune his past self just so that Past Loki could get a glimpse of Sylvie; which would then lead him to be more determined than ever to go look for her. And I quite literally died on Sylvie being confused af as to wtf she just witnessed.
Then there's the telephone scene. OH MY GOD it was literally OB all this time when fans were out here speculating it was Kang or someone lmao. Both Loki and Sylvie yelling simultaneously to turn the security thing off gives out so much Couple Vibes, I absolutely loved it AAHHAHAH-
AND. THE. BRAD. SCENE. OOF.
our friendly neighbourhood lovesick ducks teaming up to enchant Brad was just too good. Loki in his hot, creepy voice luring Brad into a dark area while Sylvie very swiftly just straight up grabbing his face from the back - pure horror. Absolutely loved it, 10/10. Tho I must say, to do execute elaborate scheme, these two must have done some detailed planning (=more Sylki moments we were robbed off).
BUT THAT ENDING DUCKING MURDERED ME BROO OMG
Can we talk abt Victor's redemption? Man had been portrayed as evil since Quantumania, and has been manipulated by both Ravonna and Miss Jolly Rancher, but at the end of the day, he was a sweetheart. Man fanboys OB and basically became besties with him and Casey, worked together to create the solution to a mess he most certainly didn't want to be a part of, and then himself stepped up to fix the Loom once and for all to prove to everyone (and not let Sylvie's choice of sparing him go to waste) that tho he contained HWR's DNA, he wasn't HWR - he was a far better person HWR could have ever been. Seeing him getting spaghettified was tragically heart-wrenching, man deserved so much better :(
BUT HOLY SHIT DID THAT ONE HECK OF A GODDAMN CLIFFHANGER LEFT ME SPEECHLESS LIKE WTF WAS THAT?? U can't just kill off a character who had redeemed himself, and then make our main character and his homies watch literally EVERYTHING THEY WORKED SO HARD FOR GET ANNIHILATED TO THE GROUND-
But we know our God of Mischief isn't dead, and so are his homies eheheh.
However the looks on everyone's face was tragic. Loki knew all was lost and had tears in his eyes. Sylvie looked like she had accepted defeat and her death. Mobius and OB were in denial, refusing to believe that Victor was dead. Casey and B-15 looked horrified, as they realised what was to come now upon them.
Tldr, this episode was an ABSOLUTE BANGER. IM READY TO CLAIM IT SUPERIOR THAN ENDGAME, come and fight me. Its a top cinematic piece, and the suspense to Ep 5 is eating me up.
Ig i should go and study for the 4 tests this week before ep 5 ;-;

Maybe Sylki wont work as endgame anymore, but I at least want them to work together! We got a tiny bit of that awesome dynamic with the 'turn it off!' scene last ep and I want my Lokis wreaking havoc.
I have some hopes based from the trailer and set pic material. They will definetly talk more, and Sylvie will reflect (the record scene).
Not to forget, they both are gods. She is a way too powerful asset (if the show lets her).
In the trailer scene, where Loki seems to be counting down to smth, probs a reset, they are both standing amidst the dissolving strands, seemingly unaffected. So chances are, they will have to rely on eachother more.
Also Sylvie does not actually run anymore. She followed Loki 3 times, even while disagreeing with him (after they beat Dox she followed before leaving, she followed after Timely and after the pie scene). And Loki does not just give her space, but points out her issues (difficulty to trust, to rely on others), voices his frustration and mentions hope as a theme.
She's still not fully on board, but considering.
Sofia Di Martino is a good actress and you can clearly see Sylvie's inner turmoil and false bravado she puts up as a defense.
Sylvie's not done with her development, neither is Loki, he's just a bit further ahead.
So I'm positive, however the show will end, this will get resolved. It would be pretty shitty writing otherwise and so far the show has done quite well.

Loki: Heart of the TVA
LAKHDLGKHSLGHAKGH?!??!?!?
OKAY, lets try to start from the top: I love Miss Minutes. I do. As a character tho!! She’s ruthless!! She’s HORRIBLE! She’s insane! Even Ravonna watching everyone get crunched was like ‘omg this is awful’ but miss minutes looked like she was at a birthday party. And her last words before blipping out were, ‘You’ll never be him’ LIKE???? Girl is RUTHLESS.
Victor!!! I felt so bad that he died!! Also, what a BRUTAL death! It was so well done from a cinematic point of view, cause it was just *instant*. So gruesome too.
Sylki tho!!! They talked!! Look, they didn’t talk about the kiss or their relationship, but I’ll take it! My mom is trying to make me prepared for them not to acknowledge the romantic aspect, and look, I’ll be devastated if they do, BUT, it’s better than one of them dying, cause at least then I can headcanon and believe they still get together more later on!
I loved seeing them work together tho, and they’re just *adorable* together. They were so excited about getting their magic back too!!
The ending was…intense, but look, they’re clearly not *dead*. Another week of agony tho. But let’s buckle up gang!
Once again, my only requests are: no one I like dies, sylki endgame, and relatively happy endings. That is all

Your reaction to Sylki means a lot to me. Its my first ‘problematic’ ship and all these people telling me I support incest are not helping me feel less ashamed and revolted by the perverse intrusive thoughts I deal with because of mental illness... plus I think Sylki is supposed to be immoral and slightly unsettling...this is LOKI we’re talking about. Ya know, the horse fucking narcissist. The damaged supervillain...
Honestly the fact that you, who hasn’t even watched the show yet have a more reasonable reaction to selfcest (an already established Loki trope) than half the fandom really shows just how much the fans woobify Loki. He’s not some innocent baby boy that must be protected from all the darkness in the world...he’s Loki. The god who indirectly caused the apocalypse in the myths?
Plus I feel like they’re missing the whole point here? The whole show is about identity and self acceptance? It’s just wrong and surreal enough to fit the tone of the story? It’s well written and really in character? It might mean a lot to people with severe self esteem/self loathing problems...
I couldn’t care less if it’s endgame, I even don’t think it should be...but all this hate is making me so conflicted and frustrated.
Sorry if that was long...just needed someone to vent to.
Honestly, like, I have been stunned by the vitriolic reactions to sylki in this fandom lmfao. As if Loki isn't particularly infamous in comics canon for fucking a stallion and giving birth to a horse (and he also fucked a giantess and she gave birth to a fucking wolf and a huge-ass snake, Loki's family tree is something else lmfao), and yet people think it's somehow weird that he'd be attracted to and entertain the idea of a relationship with someone who is only 'him' insofar as she technically fills the Loki-shaped hole in another version of reality?
Come the fuck on lmfao.
I get that a lot of the vitriol is coming from the biphobic idea that 'if this canonically bi character, who expressed his queerness on screen in words' (no I haven't watched the show but I did watch that clip and I'm not interested in giving Disney or Marvel asspats but I will still take my rep where I can fucking get it) 'proceeds to become involved with a character the audience perceives as a woman, it's queerbaiting and he isn't Really Bi', but I also cannot express adequately with mere words how much rage that instills in me lmfao. A bi man in a relationship with a woman is every bit as bisexual as a bi man who is single or a bi man in a relationship with a man or with someone of any other gender. He is still fucking bi regardless of his relationship status. And the idea that this on-screen confirmation of his attraction to multiple genders just doesn't count unless he's making out with a dude pisses me off to no end.
Sorry for that tangent, but yeah, I absolutely agree with you. At the end of the day, Loki falling in love with 'himself' (although it seems to me like it's been fairly well established that Loki variants aren't really him in anything but name because they've all led very different lives, or at least Sylvie has, although again this is just what I've gotten from tangential fandom osmosis and scrolling through the tags a bit out of curiosity) as an act of self-love and acceptance could be a really powerful piece of storytelling, and I think the people screaming about how 'it's basically incest' don't understand a) what incest is and why it's actually harmful (and why it literally cannot apply to self-cest no matter how you twist it lmao), and b) Loki as a character.
Anyway, keep stanning Sylki--endgame or not, canon romance arc or not, it looks like they have a really rich&interesting dynamic to explore and I hope the show doesn't shy away from that just bc some people are idiots.

Tom Hiddleston Filmography - A Review
A list of everything Tom Hiddleston has been in, according to IMDB, and I will be watching each one and reviewing it here! A lot of his stuff was super obscure, and he did lots of shorts, so I have excluded those. I also do not include voice acting, only live action.
Tumblr media
1) Loki (2021) Disney+
I'm actually only on episode four, so I don't have a thorough review, but so far it's so good. Love Loki, but something feels weird. Maybe bc I prefer him as Thor Loki, all dressed in his robes and shit, but I still think it's really good. 10/10 Tom Hiddleston overall. 9/10 show.
Alright, after finishing the show and analyzing it, I would like to change my rating to 5/10. 10/10 Tom. Tom is always great, it wasn't his fault how Loki was portrayed here and he did well with what he got. Now, the show? Ass. Like, the whole Sylki thing was meh, boring to give him a female love interest when he's canonically bi, but also the self incest? Fucking weird. His outfit? Trash, put him in his fucking Loki robes. Mobius, man, you coulda been good, but here you are torturing and insulting Loki just like everyone else. Loki just needs someone who shows him true and genuine care and trust. Not whatever the fuck Mobius and Sylvie was doing. This show was not about Loki Loki, it was about Sylvie
2) Avengers: Endgame (2019) Disney+
Need to re-watch, but such a good movie. Tragic, devastating, but so good. 10/10.
3) Leading Lady Parts (2018) (I forgot to remove this)
4) Avengers: Infinity War (2018) Disney+
Again, need to re-watch but 10/10.
5) Thor: Ragnarok (2017) Disney+
Pretty sure this is everyone's favorite Thor movie, and I agree. So fucking good. I need to re-watch it, but it gets an 11/10.
6) Kong: Skull Island (2017) HBO Max
7) The Night Manager (2016) Amazon Prime Video
8) Crimson Peak (2015) Netflix
Shame about the incest. But I enjoyed this movie a lot. I love him in this time period, lawd. I don't really care for the female lead, I don't remember her name but she irks me for no reason. But Tom? Damn, damn, damn. 9/10. Sorry, the incest cost this a point.
9) High-Rise (2015) Amazon Prime Channels
Hm. Um. Hm. So, I get the point of the movie, capitalism sucks, the high levels looking down at the low levels, chaos happens but everyone is still stuck in the capitalist system (the high-rise) and yeah. Maybe I’m just simple-minded, but it wasn’t my favorite movie lol. It was so chaotic, abstract, and dystopian and I’m just not into movies like that. But, for what it was, I think it was good and an interesting symbolism for capitalism. It was just fucking wild. You really gotta use big brain energy to follow and keep up with the metaphors, but it was good. Tommy boy always looking like a snack, we see his badonky, love that. He did really well, I think he captured the essence of the film and portrayed the emotions and character well. 10/10 Tom, 7/10 movie. Also, love to see Bard--I mean, Luke Evans. Love him.
10) I Saw the Light (2015) Amazon Buy or Rent
11) Muppets Most Wanted (2014) Amazon Buy or Rent
I have seen this movie, but I couldn't tell you a thing about it and honestly, I don't care enough about the Muppets to buy it. I'm sure it was good, but who knows.
12) Coriolanus (2014) ?
13) Thor: The Dark World (2013) Disney+
Need to re-watch. Everyone's least favorite Thor movie, but honestly, I loved it. I love all Marvel movies and didn't think this was bad at all.
14) Exhibition (2013) Amazon Buy or Rent
15) Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) Amazon Buy or Rent
16) Friend Request Pending (2012) Amazon Buy or Rent
17) The Hollow Crown (2012) Amazon Buy
18) The Avengers (2012) Disney+
The OG, love love love. Everything about this movie is wonderful. God I love Loki.
19) War Horse (2011) HBO Max
20) The Deep Blue Sea (2011) AMC+ (Amazon)
Hm, interesting. I liked it, Tom Hiddleston is so fantastic. He really showed a range of acting skill here and it was so good. The raw emotions he showcased and just those little facial expressions really made this incredible. We do get to see some badonky, that’s always a plus. His skin is so smooth and looks so soft...but anyway, his acting ability is just so amazing, I love him so much. 10/10 Tom, 7/10 movie.
21) Midnight in Paris (2011) IMDB TV (Amazon)
22) Thor (2011) Disney+
Great, fantastic, wonderful, breathtaking. Lovely movie.
23) Archipelago (2010) AMC+ (Amazon)
24) Wallander (2008-2010) DVD
25) Cranford (2009) BritBox (Amazon)
26) Unrelated (2007) Amazon Buy or Rent
27) Suburban Shootout (2006-2007) DVD
28) Miss Austen Regrets (2007) DVD (or BritBox - Amazon)
Aww, Tom is such a cutie in this movie!! Young babyyyyyyyyy. Great movie, I love period pieces, especially Jane Austen stories so this was good! He was really good in this role, I want more of him in historical pieces!! Not a lot of screen time tho, shame.
29) Casualty (2007) BritBox (Amazon)
30) Victoria Cross Heroes (2006) Youtube
31) A Waste of Shame: The Mystery of Shakespeare and His Sonnets (2005) ?
32) The Gathering Storm (2002) HBO Max
33) Armadillo (2001) BritBox
34) Conspiracy (2001) HBO Max
35) The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001) DVD

I... have some thoughts on the Loki finale. It was not what I was expecting, but I'm still hopeful for season 2.
This felt like a meh finale, like how a lot of season finales felt in Spring 2020 when they unexpectedly quit filming and had to cut things short by a couple episodes thanks to the pandemic. Only this was the planned out finale, they should've given a bit more oomph. I'm quite a fan of exposition and character development usually, but all the dialog was centered on He Who Remains, so it felt like our main characters were just side pieces.
Plus, the final "cliffhanger" of Mobius not knowing Loki and the statue of HWR replacing the Time Keeper statues felt quite lackluster. Not sure how they could've made it hit harder, but it didn't deliver the "oh shit" vibes they intended, but maybe that's cuz Mobius not remembering Loki has been an expected plot line on tumblr for half the season so it wasn't a blindside.
I get the point of the Sylki kiss. From what I've seen on tumblr so far I feel like the nuance of Sylvies actions was lost to most people (both Sylki fans and antis just Didn't Get It). It wasn't a big declaration of love like the fans are grasping onto it as, and it wasn't shoving selfcest into the canon to keep the heternormativity like antis are accusing it of being; it was Sylvie using Loki's attachment to her to trick him. She needed Loki out of her way, and she knew the only way to get past him and get He Who Remains' tempad was through emotional distraction. She used his love against him and betrayed him, a kiss was simply the most efficient way to do it. I did a whole post last week about Sylvie's feelings towards Loki, but to sum up I firmly believe that while Loki harbors some romantic feelings for Sylvie, she feels strictly platonic towards him, but is very aware of his attraction. She took advantage of his care for her to get the upper hand during their fight. Heck she even foreshadowed it herself in ep 5. "There are more important things than friends" "like taking down the TVA" she told Loki that taking down whoever is behind the TVA comes before everything; it's priority #1 in her book, above friendship or love or trust. Loki proved that his priority now is the greater good of the universe not her revenge, so Sylvie has no use for him anymore (partners only when it's convenient, because she is a Loki and that's how emotionally stunted Lokis behave).
I would like to point out the irony of her being worried about Loki betraying her, only to turn around and betray him. It's in the realm of "people who cheat assuming their partner is cheating" / "not using a turn signal when changing planes to avoid being cut off because when you see someone else use their signal you tend to cut them off", it's assuming other people will behave like you do. Sylvie feared in ep 5 that Loki would betray her in the end because she knew if it came down to it she'd betray him. But the thing is, he's actually grown past that. Loki is finally thinking about how his actions can damage others, not just his own wants and needs. Sylvie saw this moral change in Loki, realized there was no chance of getting him back on the blind revenge boat, and decided to exploit his newfound selflessness and emotional attachment to get him out of her path.
This whole season Loki has been maturing emotionally and growing into the best, most heroic version of himself. Sylvie, on the other hand, still has that deceptive, selfish, can't trust anyone persona that every Loki develops to combat insecurity. She hasn't had the emotional growth needed to see the bigger picture, she's still trapped in her own self centered mindset. As such, she disregards the impact her betrayal will have on Loki, the impact killing HWR will have on the universe. She doesn't even take a beat to consider whether revenge is still the right path cuz she doesn't practice self reflection yet; revenge has always been the goal and she refuses to give herself a chance of changing her mind. I hope in season 2 she'll get some character growth, now that her 1 goal has been accomplished.
Now on to Mobius. I enjoyed his scenes, I wish we'd been shown more of what he did to reveal the truth to the rest of the TVA. Again, I feel like too much time was given to HWR's monologing and not enough was spent on the other characters so Mobius and B-15 got very little screen time to display their plan. I am happy Mobius got the opportunity to throw Ranslayers betrayal back in her face, and his attemp at attacking her...my boy you work a desk job you ain't no fighter, she used to work in the field collecting variants, you had no chance. Also, where the F did she go??? I kept expecting her to show up at the end of time but she didn't. Where did Miss Minutes send her??
I'm sad Mobius doesn't know Loki anymore, but I can't say I'm surprised. I've got a few different thoughts on what the heck is going on with him and the TVA:
Sylvie accidentally sent Loki way back to a time early on in the TVA before HWR created the Time Keepers for anonymity. As such, this is a past Mobius who has yet to meet Loki or even learn of Loki's existence. If this is the case, then I think Loki and Past!Mobius's interaction at the end of ep 6 will be the catalyst for him becoming a Loki expert. The 63 branching timelines Mobius and B-15 are discussing before Loki interrupts are from some currently unknown disaster that'll be a plot line in s2. (This is my least favorite theory, but nevertheless a possibility)
HWR was correct when he said that if Sylvie kills him and destroys the TVA then another variant of him will just start it all up again. This variant didn't care to remain anonymous, hence the big statue of him, but kept all the memory wiped variants working there. Because time is a chaotic bitch, the changeover from one HWR variant to another may have been near seamless at the TVA and just involved a quick memory wipe of anything relating to the Time Keepers, Loki and Sylvie, or knowledge that the TVA are all variants. The 63 branches may be thanks to something Renslayer is doing like killing all the HWR variants in existence in order to negate the need for the TVA. The branching could also be from Sylvie's revenge still, we have no idea how much time has passed between her killing HWR and a new HWR taking over so the branching she caused could still be an issue.
There have actually been multiple TVAs running simultaneously, each in their own multiverse. Each one employs memory wiped variants, each one is in charge of a certain subset of timelines, and all work under the one HWR. Sylvie used HWR's tempad to eject Loki back to the TVA, but she accidentally sent him to the TVA of a different multiverse not realizing that's a Thing. The 63 branching timelines Mobius and B-15 are discussing are indeed from Sylvie killing HWR, but there's only 63 as opposed to the countless we saw diverging from Sylvie's perspective because this TVA only sees branches on timelines within their own multiverse. Mobius doesn't know Loki because he isn't our Mobius and in the multiverse he works in maybe Loki's aren't as much of an issue because none of them ever escaped the TVA like Sylvie did (or none of them have Tom's face so he doesn't recognize him as a Loki). If this is the case, then Loki is gonna have to find his way back to his own multiverse in order to be reunited with his Mobius, and that could end up happening thanks to Renslayer. Miss Minutes gave her a file that I suspect only HWR should have access to. Maybe it was tempad coordinates for other multiverses? It took til the 31st century for the multiverses to be connected despite Tony figuring out time travel in the 21st century because travel between universes is much harder, maybe HWR is still the only one who knows how to do that. (If this theory is correct then all the time travel done during Endgame was through timelines within one multiverse) Also just thought of this but what if the reason there are so many extreme variations of loki that grew to adulthood is because the criteria of "sacred timeline" is different in each multiverse. Classic Loki and maybe President Loki and Kid Loki are from the same universe as MCU Loki, but red haired Loki, Croki, Boastful Loki, etc are all from other universes. Think about it, Classic Loki, 2012 Loki, and MCU Loki all have an exact identical path up until their nexus event (or death in MCU Loki's case). I think other than identifying as female, Sylvie's childhood was identical as well and that her nexus event was coming to terms with her adoption as a child, which erased the catalyst of 2011 Thor's plot and would've changed everything for her future path. Had her adoption remained a secret and she grew up on asgard, I believe her story would mirror MCU Loki's. It mildly hit me weird that there would be such wild variation amongst Lokis, even with him being a shapeshifter, because there's a rigid sacred timeline (that supposedly the MCU movies have all adhered to) and they all felt like too big of a divergence to have been left unchecked so long. If boastful Loki was telling the truth about getting all 6 infinity stones then he should've triggered a nexus event as soon as he got more than the 3 he is "supposed to" interact with, unless in his multiverse the sacred timeline criteria is different. Another theory: the agents employed in each TVA are from multiverses other than the one they're working in. It would make sense, keep them from running into their own past by fully detaching each agent from their home timeline/universe. So the Principal!Renslayer that B-15 found will never in any future become the TVA judge we know. The one we know maybe came from the universe Loki got sent to, and that's how the two of them will end up crossing paths again.

Episode 5 Thoughts-
-Definitely an improvement over last week.
-Alligator Loki supremacy! Though I’m guessing we’re never going to get his backstory. No one questions the Alligator 🐊. Just let him run everything. He is an overly sensitive soul who likes wine and eating the hands of troublesome variants of himself. And he rolled his eyes! I almost fell over laughing.
-We haven’t seen “Glorious Loki” and/or “King Loki” yet. Unless they cut him from the show, I say he could be the one running the TVA. Loki and Sylvie triggered the nexus event that could destroy the TVA because they came to care for one another. If Glorious Loki is running things, it’s at least partially based on his hatred of other Lokis and wanting to keep them losing and unhappy. We see that unfortunately too often Lokis hate each other and try to betray each other (or eat each other’s hands).
-If GL is running things he needs to die. You can’t hold the whole universe hostage.
-Supposedly the end of time is still being written. GL or whoever is running it is probably trying out different timelines to find the perfect one. Or the shots of Loki as king could be from a timeline where he “wins” after the TVA is brought down.
-Gator Loki attacking people. 😆
-Classic Loki can communicate with Gator Loki. ❤️
-We got the Loki brawl! Well-a Loki brawl, though not with just Lokis. More Lokis, more brawling please!
-“This is a nightmare.” Our Loki is just so done with his variants. 😆
-The episodes are so short-even if they’re going to give us a season 2, I wish we’d get more of everything. This whole purgatory world with different versions of people and timelines is an intriguing idea that has a lot of potential; but we barely get to spend any time in it. Would’ve preferred 2 episodes like this instead of last week’s episode.
-Potentially zillions of versions of every character we’ve ever known!
-Mobius is a talented driver! Comes from a lifetime of driving Jetskis.
-Why was Sylvie arrested?!
-I loved all the bantering between the Lokis. “Why do you get to wear the horns!”
-Kid Loki gave Loki Lævateinn!
-Why did they have to get rid of Classic Loki so quickly?! He’s awesome!
-Finally, some magic!
-No I don’t think they’re ever actually going to do a Sylki kiss. I predicted from the beginning that they’re going to try to have their cake and eat it too. In other words, they’re going to flirt around with the concept of Sylki, talk about it in interviews, and show them being affectionate. But they will never quite get fully physical to try to moderate the backlash.
-Classic Loki’s costume sucks because he was alone on a planet and had to improvise.
-Why/how did Kid Loki kill Thor? Wish he’d killed Odin.
-”Every time we do better we get pruned”. Ugh.
-Poor Frog Thor! He should probably stay out of sight though or Gator Loki will eat him.
-Gator Loki ate the wrong neighbor’s cat 😁
-So how did old Loki manage to survive to old age-wouldn’t the TVA have gotten him as soon as he failed to be killed? Unless……Tom once said the show will answer two main questions- whether Loki is really dead, and where he went after Endgame. I am wondering if in the real prime timeline Loki is alive and just laying low. He had fulfilled his purpose and was supposed to die alone. The TVA didn’t get him until he started to want to find people again.
-I love how they poked fun at Loki’s death in Infinity War.
-Where are the other Loki variants? I get that it’s a big place because that’s where all the pruned timelines go, but still, it’s not like they can’t afford the special effects for Jotun Loki and Hulk Loki.
-I’m confused as to exactly what Boastful Loki was after? I mean it seems like there were only four of them living in that place. He really did all that for a chair that has an L on it to rule over three other Lokis? Because it seems like President Loki had never met any of the others besides Boastful Loki before. It’s very confusing.
-If Lokis are gender fluid why were they so surprised there was a female version of them?
-President Loki! Tom was having so much fun I bet you he enjoyed that
-So it seems like the Tom Hiddleston looking male presenting Loki is the default? Was Hammer Loki born black, or did he shape shift into that form and decide to stay like that? Seems like Loki can change his DNA at will.
-Glad to see Sylvie talk to Mobius about the shit the TVA did and him apologizing to her. Would’ve been nice to see him do that to Loki 1130 as well.
-Seems the TVA instilled an “End justifies the means” mentality in its workers. Excited to see them free themselves.
-Loki and Sylvie talking about how Mobius is a grey character just like them. Everyone in this series is a grey character. Except for Casey. He’s perfect.

Man, just. The Wheel Of Time. THIS SHOW, MAN.
I’m about to go on a small ramble over episode 5 (’Blood Calls For Blood’) and there will be both show and book spoilers so be aware
But man. This show’s writers, directors, actors, crew, etc, they get it. They just GET IT. One might be a little dissatisfied that they’re coming up with too many scenes of their own, but I really can’t, because they GET IT.
The decision to change the Kerene and Stepin story, for example, in order to show the depth and implications of an Aes Sedai + Warder bond. In the books, we’re told many times that it’s profound, and well, it’s valid, it does its job, we get the memo. But here, we get a whole arc, and a heart-wrenching one at that, to demonstrate it. We’re drawn to these very likeable characters, get to care about them, and are slapped across the face with a brick with a tragedy.
In the books we barely know about those two, we just know Kerene was killed by Black Ajah and assume Stepin also was (it matters so little we don’t even actually know). So the show decided instead to pick that relationship and death and make it important, not only to show the power of Logain’s army and raise stakes, but to convey crucial information. And we book readers know this will have huge implications later on, especially with Moiraine explicitly considering undoing the bond with Lan. The tragedy gives a whole other weight to what’s going to happen later.
[Also, a brief mention of the funeral scenes because !!!!!!!! I think I haven’t seen them in the books, neither Aes Sedai or Warder ones, at least not yet (currently on book 10, Crossroads Of Twilight), and it was a *chef’s kiss* addition. Beautifully shot, beautifully acted, just bloody beautiful all over!]
But besides that. The whole thing with the rings. The ritual of melting and reuniting them with the rings of other fallen Aes Sedai. It’s just SO ON BLOODY THEMATIC POINT. The idea of the wheel, of nothing ending or beginning, of returning... Those are all themes and motifs so prevalent and important in the books, so crucial, and I was almost like “Wait what?! This sounds so fitting?! Are we sure Robert didn’t write that himself?!” but no. It was the show crew themselves, and with that explicit reasoning in mind:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image description: Tweet by ‘WoTonPrime’s Book Nerd’ @sarahenakamuraI, show consultant: “I really loved this idea of bringing a fallen sisters ring back to the Tower, so that it could be melted in the Flame and reunited with the gold of the rings of all Aes Sedai from the past.“
‘PerrinGoldeneyes’ @WoTPerrinGolden: “And new ones made from it?”
WoTonPrime’s Book Nerd @sarahenakamura: “That's the idea!!”]
Which just. Absolutely magnificent. It creates a physical unbroken link between the current living Aes Sedai and their predecessors and their future sisters as well.
And it even makes Valda and his collection of rings of Aes Sedai he killed even more heinous. He’s hindering with a group’s funeral rites, an almost holy rite of passage, something we’ve been shown to be very important (like, with Stepin utterly broken and gaunt, hanging on from the skin of his teeth, relapsing into drinking, barely holding himself together, but pushing himself to bring the rings back; and also with the absolute horrified reactions of the Tar Valon civilians seeing the return of the rings; just. GODS. THIS SHOW). By impeding the rings’ return, Valda interrupts a cycle of rebirth, he removes them from their source, from the Tower, from the fallen’s sisters.
Just. Man. I just have no words. These people just GET IT. They UNDERSTAND Robert Jordan’s series. They KNOW The Wheel Of Time. They know the themes, they know what the author intended and meant, and they’re not afraid neither of furthering the progressiveness Robert aimed for nor of adding upon the material.
THAT is how you make adaptations. A 1-1 reproduction of the original story scene by scene is way less important than a thorough understanding of the story’s goals, of what those scenes are actually supposed to mean and say, and of quality writing to introduce and show those concepts in a way that makes the consumer engage and invest emotionally in the plot.
