if you liked Michael Sheen in good omens YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THE PRODIGAL SON He plays the father of main character, Martin Whitly, a notorious serial killer The Surgeon AND HE'S GREAT.
more people should be weird about that guy.
he's vegan. he killed 23 people. he helps police just so he can talk to his son because he loves and misses him so much. he fucking traumatized that son out of his mind. he's wearing a cardigan. he killed 23 people. he's silly. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED.
he's like Hannibal for people with very specific brand of father issues. he's so babygirl. he's horrible. i love him.
and Michael Sheen is literally AMAZING in this role. the whole life force behind the show. thank you for your service mr Sheen.

Me trying to explain that the only reason I find Martin Whitly attractive in The Prodigal Son is because he’s played by Michael Sheen and if he wasn’t played by Michael, I wouldn’t find him attractive so, really, it’s not that concerning:

Okay. This has been in my drafts for months, and I’m finally sitting down to write it out. It’s so important (to me) that House is the one to call Chase “the prodigal son”, while Thirteen calls herself “the prodigal daughter”.
Chase would never refer to himself as House’s ‘prodigal son’. He was House’s first fellow; the relationship he’s had with House has always leaned more towards mentor/student. He looks up to House as a father figure/god-figure (“and by god, I of course mean you”) and oftentimes is the one ‘doing anything to prove House right’ (as pointed out by Cuddy in 4x01). At times he sees House as infallible. He lets House get under his skin; he gets sucked into House’s “vortex”, as Wilson says, along with Cameron and Foreman. He would never be so presumptuous as to refer to himself as House’s ‘son’. that’d be like calling himself Jesus. But House knows he isn’t a god. And House calling Chase his ‘prodigal son’, to me, is his way of saying, ‘despite all the crap I put you through, I really care about you and I’m glad you’re here. Thanks for deciding to come back.’ He’s acknowledging that no matter what happens between them, Chase will always be someone he respects and sees as one of his ducklings.
On the other hand, Thirteen has spoken to House like much more of an equal from the very beginning. She was never afraid to contradict him or argue with him. When he meddles in her personal life in You Don’t Want To Know (swabbing her water bottle and submitting her DNA for a Huntington’s test) she rightfully yells at him and enforces her boundary. She calls him an idiot over and over again in The Fix (and breaks into his apartment!) despite the fact that he’s her boss again. She even calls him a friend in Charity Case. No matter how much he tries to mess with her, she is the one person who never gets caught in his mess or blindly enables him the same way the others do. House knows that. He knows their relationship is unique. So of course he wouldn’t refer to her the same way he refers to Chase (prodigal son/prodigal daughter). He also wouldn’t go out of his way to refer to her as a ‘daughter’ because he doesn’t want her to think that he looks down on her, or sees her as lesser/on a lower level (“Yes, I think that little of you and that much of me.”) Throughout the series, he repeatedly never puts a label on their relationship. So for Thirteen to refer to HERSELF as ‘the prodigal daughter’, she’s 1) reaffirming to House that she cares about him, the same way she did in Charity Case, and the same way House did for her when he promised to kill her in The Dig; and 2) finally acknowledging that she does see House as a father-figure/mentor, and not only a friend or an equal. Part of the shock in House’s expression after their conversation in Holding On is from her saying “and you don’t even like me that much”; but I think the rest of it is from her referring to herself as House’s prodigal daughter. She’s telling him, ‘I’ve never put up with your crap, and I won’t start now. But I care about you a lot, and you are important to me. You’re my friend, but you’re also like a father/mentor to me. Even though I’ve left to go my own way, for the rest of my life I’ll always be one of your ducklings/fellows, and I’m grateful for that.’

possibly my favorite song of all time, “The Prodigal Son Suite” by Keith Green, tells the parable of the same name in Luke 15:11-32.  a man asked for his inheritance from his father before he’d even passed and then goes off to waste it all on worldly fun and fast friends. but when he runs out, he hits hard times and in his struggle, realizes his mistakes. he heads back home, hoping he will at least be allowed to work as a servant for his father. upon his arrival, his father rushes to meet him and the son confesses his sins and regrets. but the father is overjoyed to see him; he’s already forgiven him and throws a huge feast to celebrate his return to the family.
this parable is a beautiful picture of salvation and the heart of God the Father. the son didn’t deserve the celebration; he wronged his father and turned away from him. but the father still loved him and was ready and waiting to receive him back. the reconciliation only happened once the son acknowledged his mistakes and made the choice to return.
every one of us has sinned against God. and yet He still sent Jesus to die for us and pay for that sin in our place. He waits eagerly for us to repent (which means a change of mind) and turn to Him. His eternal gift of salvation is a gift of Grace, meaning it’s something we didn’t and can’t earn. like the father, Jesus waits with open arms to forgive us and receive us into His Heavenly family. and as Luke 15:7 says, “There is more joy in Heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God, than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty of sins.” (Romans 3:22-24)
(even greater than my love for the parable, is my love for the beginning and ending segments of music. it sounds so much like a Heavenly Homecoming to me, that i tried my best to incorporate that feeling into the ending.)

I was telling my sister about Titans, and she was like, “the whole Bruce/Dick/Jason storyline is like the prodigal son story, with the older and younger brothers' positions switched,” and I was like ohhhh???
#bruce is a VERY imperfect substitute for God the Father but CONSIDER the older brother — the heir#takes his inheritance (his supersuit and tech and weapons and porche)#and leaves telling his dad not to contact him#and the younger son receives everything that once belonged to his older brother#knowing how fortunate he is while also having to constantly hear ‘your brother did it this way’ ‘your brother was better at this’#all the whole looking up to his absent brother as his hero#he goes to meet his older brother while he is away and is met with a barrage of ‘our father doesn’t care about you or me’#‘our father will destroy you to accomplish his own ends’#‘no you don’t really know him — *I* know him’#‘being the eldest son isn’t an honour at all its a curse’#and THEN a little while later that same older brother returns and is welcomed home with open arms#their father gives EVERYTHING back to his oldest#ALL the privileges and love and honour and money and even a new supersuit#all is forgiven and given back in full — more than in full#and that’s wonderful and beautiful but what is the younger brothers perspective?#and THEN their father gives the younger brother into the older brothers care#‘go see how your older brother does it and then come back to me’#so he feels cast off by his father#and his older brother barely pays him any attention being preoccupied with his own issues#although he never abandoned their father and always did everything he was asked it’s his older brother who receives all the praise#after being beaten down again and again he finally returns to his father#and is welcomed but not with nearly as much fanfare as when his older brother returned#what is that going to do to him???#titans#titans tv show#titans tv#jason todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#the prodigal son

If you put Malcolm Bright and Will Graham together in a room, they will bond over their trauma and their empathy but if you put Hannibal Lecter and Martin Whitley together, they will go for each other’s neck, and I would pay to see that.

The Prodigal Son
(Scripture below the cut)
Disclaimer: I don't speak Chinese, I copied and pasted from an official Chinese translation of the Bible. It's Luke 15:32.
Luke 15:11-24
Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons. The younger son said to his father, ‘Give me now the part of your property that I am supposed to receive someday.’ So the father divided his wealth between his two sons.
“A few days later the younger son gathered up all that he had and left. He traveled far away to another country, and there he wasted his money living like a fool. After he spent everything he had, there was a terrible famine throughout the country. He was hungry and needed money. So he went and got a job with one of the people who lived there. The man sent him into the fields to feed pigs. He was so hungry that he wanted to eat the food the pigs were eating. But no one gave him anything.
“The son realized that he had been very foolish. He thought, ‘All my father’s hired workers have plenty of food. But here I am, almost dead because I have nothing to eat. I will leave and go to my father. I will say to him: Father, I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But let me be like one of your hired workers.’ So he left and went to his father.
The Younger Son Returns
“While the son was still a long way off, his father saw him coming and felt sorry for him. So he ran to him and hugged and kissed him. The son said, ‘Father, I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Hurry! Bring the best clothes and put them on him. Also, put a ring on his finger and good sandals on his feet. And bring our best calf and kill it so that we can celebrate with plenty to eat. My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!’ So they began to have a party.

so daniel IS christian favourite child lol nice to have that confirmed
Marko was one of the reasons Daniel left and he is one of the obstacles to Daniel coming back. Christian already made the mistake of letting Daniel go once before, he’s not going to make that same mistake again. Even if that means he needs to overthrow Marko

Secret time
I have not watched ANYTHING but TV shows and movies with Michael Sheen and/or David Tennant in them.
I have to have the TV on when I sleep (I'm a child not really I'm 36) and it's either on Staged, Good Omens, The Prodigal Son, Season 1 of Jessica Jones, or Masters of Sex.
I have started to think I may have a SLIGHT problem.
