8: ZODIAC CONSTELLATIONS The ancient Greek Zodiakos, or Zodiac, is a division of the celestial sphere into twelve equal parts; each one containing a specific group of stars with a mythic association called a constellation. Ancient Greeks used the constellations for sailing navigation, time keeping for seasonal agricultural practices like planting and harvesting crops, mythic storytelling purposes, and astrology practices. Hellenistic Astrology, taking influence from the Babylonians and Egyptians, sought meaning in the zodiac signs and how they influenced a person’s character based on the position of the sun when they were born. They also used this practice for divination, providing guidance and predictions for the future. Let’s take a look at the twelve Zodiac constellations and their mythic tales. 1.) Aries (March 21-April 19) represents the flying golden ram sent by the gods to save the royal children Phrixus and Helle from sacrifice, and whose fleece later becomes the quested prize for the Argonauts. 2.) Taurus (April 20-May 20) represents the bull which Zeus transformed into to seduce Europa, and is linked to the Cretan Bull and the myth of the Minotaur. 3.) Gemini (May 21-June 21) represents the twins Castor and Pollux, sons of Zeus and Leda, known for their inseparable bond and heroic deeds. 4.) Cancer (June 22- July 22) represents the crab sent by Hera to distract Hercules during his battle with the Hydra, later placed in the sky by Hera as a constellation. 5.) Leo (July 23- Aug. 22) represents the lion, representing strength and kingship, associated with the Nemean Lion defeated by Hercules. 6.) Virgo (Aug 23- Sept 22) represents the maiden, often linked to the goddess of agriculture and fertility, such as Demeter or Persephone. 7.) Libra (Sept 23- Oct 23) represents goddess of justice Astraea, daughter of Themis, who carries the scales of justice. 8.) Scorpio (Oct 24- Nov 21) represents the scorpion sent by Artemis or Gaia to kill Orion 9.) Sagittarius (Nov 22- Dec 21) represents the centaur archer, often identified as the wise and skilled Chiron. 10.) Capricorn (Dec 22- Jan 19) represents the sea goat Aegipan, who aided Zeus in his fight against Typhon. 11.) Aquarius (Jan 20- Feb 18) represents the cupbearer of the gods, Ganymede, who was abducted by Zeus and placed among the stars. 12.) Pisces (Feb 19- March 20) represents the two fish, Aphrodite and Eros, who transformed to escape the monster Typhon.

Cassie wasn't sure how she got in this situation.

The day had started simply enough: Gemini had told her that she was going to her brother's—Scorpio's—kingdom for a day's excursion, and asked if she would like to tag along. Cassie said, yes, of course.

What neither one of them had accounted for was the fact that Scorpio's kingdom was way more densely packed than Gemini's own kingdom.

"The kingdom consists mainly of islands," Pegasus had said earlier that morning. "There are hundreds of canals and bridges built to connect the many pieces of land—rather like Venice."

Scorpio's kingdom had a definite pirate-esque vibe, as there were huge ships everywhere, and the air smelled distinctly of saltwater.

Gemini and Cassie, despite their best efforts, had gotten separated. Cassie had gotten lost. In a huge kingdom. All by herself.

So that's how she found herself awkwardly standing outside a building (it looked like a restaurant; there was a big sign with the words 'The Baratie'), trying to ask passersby for help.

She thought of potential ideas on how to find her way back to safety. She and Gemini hadn't come to the kingdom through the portal in Scorpio's castle; they had entered Scorpio's kingdom through a different portal on the mainland. Cassie doubted she could find the area where they entered at this point; she was well and truly lost.

Gemini and Scorpio were very close, so maybe if she could get to the palace, Scorpio could contact Gemini and she could wait there for her. It was a better idea than standing in the middle of nowhere and hoping Gemini would find her again.

"U—um, excuse me!" She shouted as people walked by. "Could you—oh, that's fine—I'm looking for directions to the palace!"

A couple people threw her dirty looks, and on more than one occasion, someone yelled at her to get out of the way. The sun was beginning to go down, and Cassie was getting increasingly more and more desperate. It wasn't until thirty minutes later that someone took pity on her and helped her.

"Directions to the palace?" A young woman that was exiting the restaurant asked. She had dark brown skin and curly gray hair tied in a ponytail. "Sorry, I just overheard you. You're that new human girl everyone's been talking about. Um, I could...I might be able to get you directly to the palace, if you wanted?"

"You'd do that for me?" Cassie asked cautiously. After all, this was a random woman in the streets—she couldn't be trusted so easily.

The woman seemed to pick up on this, rummaging through her satchel and pulling out a small plastic card.

"My name's Vela," She said, holding out the card to Cassie. It looked like a driver's license, or some other kind of ID. Big gold font spelled out the words: 'Constellation of the Sails' underneath her picture. "One of the constellations residing in the court of Scorpio. Don't worry, I'm not gonna kidnap you or anything."

"Okay, then." Cassie said, nodding. She wasn't going to let her guard down, though—not even for a second.

Vela stuffed the ID back into her bag and waved Cassie back into the restaurant. "C'mon. I'll introduce you to my crew. I'll see if they can get you to the palace."

"Crew?" Cassie asked as the two of them navigated the restaurant. People were drinking shot glasses filled with vodka, glasses of rum, and tankards full of beer. There were old fashioned cannons and shark skeletons mounted on the walls. Smoke wafted through the air, as some patrons were taking drags on cigarettes or cigars. "Vela, are you a pirate captain?"

The woman scoffed, ducking under a flying wayward glass cup. "Me? No. I'm the cartographer. The captain is that guy over there."

She pointed over all the heads of the restaurant patrons, to a man with a bushy afro, an eyepatch, and a captain's hat. The one eye that was visible was a bright, vivid green. He was downing a foaming cup of beer, slamming the empty glass onto the table when he was done.

"That's Lacerta. My captain." Fondness colored Vela's words. "He seems kinda like an idiot, but he has a heart of gold. I trust him with my life."

Cassie nodded reluctantly. This was the guy responsible for getting her to the palace?

"Eyyy! Vela!" Lacerta shouted, noticing the two of them. "Sit down, sit down! Have a pint or two, we all know you can drink more than us!"

At his words, the rest of the crew let out raucous cheers, shoving at each other good-naturedly.

"Maybe later," Vela said. "We got someone looking for passage to the palace."

"Sure thing," One of the crew members, a man with dreadlocks and what looked like a peg leg, laughed. "Let's just hope they got enough money to cover this here tab!"

Lacerta laughed, slapping the man on the back. "Good one, Puppis! Busboy! Another round!"

Vela shot all of them dirty looks, and they quieted down somewhat. "Focus, drunkards. This is the girl that's staying with Gemini. The human one."

"Oh, shit!" A third man, with dreadlocks piled on top of his head and an eyepatch, gasped. "This is the girl? Casper? Casey? Or something like that?"

"Cassie," Cassie corrected him. "My name is Cassie."

"She's smaller than I imagined..." A woman with dark brown cornrows tilted her head, taking swigs from her flask. "Bit scrawny. Strange eye."

"Now, now, Pyxis, Carina, be nice." Lacerta pushed his beer glass away. "And Vela, dearest, why should we help this poor child make her way back to the palace?"

"Because she's a child?" Vela asked incredulously. "A child who so happens to be under the protection of Gemini herself?"

Carina, the other woman, lifted her head off of her arms. "If she's under the personal protection of the great Gemini, then where is Gemini?"

"We...got separated," Cassie said sheepishly. "I got lost."

Pyxis snorted. "Get a load of this bull—you got lost? Aw, too bad. If you're so important, find your own way back home, don't get the help of a couple miscreants."

"But aren't you part of Scorpio's court?" Cassie asked. "Isn't it your duty to help people associated with the Zodiacs?"

"Hah! No." Puppis rolled his eyes. "Despite what Vela here has told you, we're the exception to that rule. We're loose cannons. Scorpio doesn't call for us unless he really needs us."

"We'll take you to the palace," Lacerta said, shrugging. The rest of his crew stopped mocking Cassie for a second and stared at him. "For the right price, of course."

"...and what exactly is that price?" Cassie raised an eyebrow.

"She's a child," Vela began saying, wringing her hands in frustration. "She doesn't have any form of payment."

"Your eye," Pyxis said.

"Excuse me?!" Cassie shouted, now angry.

Pyxis tsked. "The eye with the blue star in it. It'll fetch a pretty price. And I don't believe you need both your eyes to see." He chuckled, tapping his eyepatch. "I should know."

"I believe that's a bit too far," Lacerta said, now starting to show concern. "The girl doesn't need to gouge out her eye to hitch a ride—"

Pyxis pointed at Cassie. "Look at that, captain. A thing of beauty. Never seen anything like it before." He spread his arms wide, as if delivering an offer. His one eye, dark and cold, leered at Cassie. "Well? Deal or nothing."

Cassie touched the eye containing the Starglass. Pyxis smirked, looking smug. Then Cassie yanked out her sword, the blade glowing with ethereal blue light. She pointed it at Lacerta's face, all of the crew gasping.

"You will take me to the palace," She said, her heart rate starting to speed up. "You will take me aboard your ship, and you will deliver me to your king."

Carina and Pyxis jumped to their feet, both of them reaching for the knives sheathed at their belts. Puppis staggered up, trying to help, before crashing back down to the table and falling asleep. Vela shouted, drawing her own knife from the depths of her bag. Lacerta did nothing, merely squinting at Cassie, mildly impressed.

"This ain't your fight, V," Carina said, her words slurring together. "You're with us, remember?"

"You pledged your allegiance to us," Pyxis snarled. "You know what happens if you turn against us."

Vela's eyes widened, and she shook her head, slowly backing away. "I—I'm sorry, but I can't help you, human. I am honor-bound to my crew. I can't hurt them—I literally can't. If I hurt them, the pain I cause them rebounds onto me."

Cassie nodded with determination. Two on one wasn't such a bad fight—both her opponents were slow and their senses were dulled from the alcohol.

"Let's go," She said, through gritted teeth.

But when she got to know her, she became a good and close friend of Rapunzel and soon she joined the group and then travelled to Corona to see her during the moonstone incident.

Eugene: While she and Eugene are distant, she could always tell that he is a thief who has no parents until she heard that he was a prince of the dark kingdom. Which kinda made her surprised but still accepted it, as she stated she lost her parents during a shipwreck.

Cassandra: She kinda was amazed to have a warrior woman around here, to the point she said "Your friend is a warrior" and she kept on smiling at the fact about it.

Lance: Much like Eugene, she was invested in the fact he was a thief like him and a good friend to Eugene for a long time. She often does talk about it but not that much, as she was grateful and accepts it.

Marcellus: She knew about Marcellus when he was with Rapunzel during the Tirapai Island and she was confused to have an alchemist around here, as she states alchemy is confusing. But then, she realized that he was an alchemist who was into science and mathematics and he states that Varian got him the inspiration.

Shipmates: She actually adores them for the most part and she even states they can be interesting to talk to.

GMMTV2024 Hopes + Predictions

Predictions:

It's clear that G4 is becoming GMMTV's new BW since ON didn't work out. They will definitely have more concerts, and their ship is too lucrative for GMMTV to NOT give them a series. If they do get another one, I definitely think it'll be another school-based series. One thing is for sure though, they will be working like crazy next year.

While we're on the topic, Gemini might just get his het drama. I think we could even see him star in one of GMMTV's classic ensemble het shows or even a non-romance series. If he gets one, they'll definitely try to make it a non-threatening pair (knowing Thai entertainment it could be a slight age difference pairing).

Possibly another MSP special episode, second season or movie. This is one of my most far-fetched predictions but there's something about how G4 pulled out of 23.5 and Mark pulled out of Cooking Crush that gives me the vibe that they want to have another season of MSP possibly giving more screentime to the TiwPor couple.

There will be another The Warp Effect/Friendzone-esque drama that will introduce a BL pair we never knew we wanted. Maybe Lee Thanat X other seasoned GMMTV actor..

If MilkLove shows promise, ViewJune will get a GL.

Hot take but I think we'll get another PerthChimon-led series. GMMTV DUMPED budget into them and, barring a disaster, I can't see them fading the same way ON did.

We will continue to see JoongDunk have international fanmeets, concerts, etc. I can even see GMMTV focusing less on making a good series for them and more on selling tickets and merch.

OffGun will not have a series next year.

I have no basis for this prediction but I feel like either Tay, Off, or Perth will get a movie. (watch me be wrong lol).

One of the babies will get their first puppy love BL, probably near direct knock-offs of either Bad Buddy or MSP, since those were massively successful. My bet is on Indy or Ohm (not a baby but we move) leading. Chokun or Java could be a second lead/part of the second couple.

A GMMTV basement dweller (e.g., Podd, Pleum Pongpisal, etc.) will have their 2023 Gawin moment and resurrect their BL career with a more established, yet unpaired GMMTV actor.

To put a cap on it, I predict there will be a similar amount of BLs as there were last year (9 +/-2), another QL ensemble series (like The Warp Effect), and another GL (likely led by View OR Jan + [insert girl here]).

Hopes

NEOMARK SERIES. Idgaf what it is, hell it can be these two watching paint dry for 45 minutes every friday, just don't fumble this highly lucrative bag @.GMMTV!!

Another gritty series directed by Anucha Boonyawatana (or even Jojo lol).

Another TayNew series, please. I know Cherry Magic hasn't even aired yet and I sound greedy but bitch these two are killing me lately.

Stop casting Pawin in literally every BL if he's only going to be a villainous side character lmao. It takes me out of the story instantly when I see him plotting in the background in every show.

GIVE AJ A BL. Bring back Fiat if you can and let that ship SAIL.

JoongDunk and ForceBook need breaks...shake these pairs up. Give Joong het roles, let Force kiss other men, enroll Dunk and Book in improv! They already have all these concerts and reality shows, let them do that for awhile before filling your entire lineup with just these 4 pairings.

Inn Sarin in anything, but hopefully with a seasoned hottie.

Sailing by Gemini's Star Cover Reveal!

Super happy to show y'all the cover for Sailing by Gemini's Star (The Constellation Trilogy, #3) created by the incredibly talented @prosodi! Abby has done incredible work on each of my covers, and it's hard for me to pick a favorite, but this one is probably it. Truly, these have been dream covers, and I have been staring at this one since I got it. It absolutely captures the heart of the book <3 Gemini releases on May 28th (information on pre-orders will be available probably at the start of that month) and you can check out the summary below!

8: ZODIAC CONSTELLATIONS

The ancient Greek Zodiakos, or Zodiac, is a division of the celestial sphere into twelve equal parts; each one containing a specific group of stars with a mythic association called a constellation. Ancient Greeks used the constellations for sailing navigation, time keeping for seasonal agricultural practices like planting and harvesting crops, mythic storytelling purposes, and astrology practices.

Hellenistic Astrology, taking influence from the Babylonians and Egyptians, sought meaning in the zodiac signs and how they influenced a person’s character based on the position of the sun when they were born. They also used this practice for divination, providing guidance and predictions for the future. Let’s take a look at the twelve Zodiac constellations and their mythic tales.

1.) Aries (March 21-April 19) represents the flying golden ram sent by the gods to save the royal children Phrixus and Helle from sacrifice, and whose fleece later becomes the quested prize for the Argonauts.

2.) Taurus (April 20-May 20) represents the bull which Zeus transformed into to seduce Europa, and is linked to the Cretan Bull and the myth of the Minotaur.

3.) Gemini (May 21-June 21) represents the twins Castor and Pollux, sons of Zeus and Leda, known for their inseparable bond and heroic deeds.

4.) Cancer (June 22- July 22) represents the crab sent by Hera to distract Hercules during his battle with the Hydra, later placed in the sky by Hera as a constellation.

5.) Leo (July 23- Aug. 22) represents the lion, representing strength and kingship, associated with the Nemean Lion defeated by Hercules.

6.) Virgo (Aug 23- Sept 22) represents the maiden, often linked to the goddess of agriculture and fertility, such as Demeter or Persephone.

7.) Libra (Sept 23- Oct 23) represents goddess of justice Astraea, daughter of Themis, who carries the scales of justice.

8.) Scorpio (Oct 24- Nov 21) represents the scorpion sent by Artemis or Gaia to kill Orion

9.) Sagittarius (Nov 22- Dec 21) represents the centaur archer, often identified as the wise and skilled Chiron.

10.) Capricorn (Dec 22- Jan 19) represents the sea goat Aegipan, who aided Zeus in his fight against Typhon.

11.) Aquarius (Jan 20- Feb 18) represents the cupbearer of the gods, Ganymede, who was abducted by Zeus and placed among the stars.

12.) Pisces (Feb 19- March 20) represents the two fish, Aphrodite and Eros, who transformed to escape the monster Typhon.

Important roles:

Pyxis - Compass, a tour guide about the castle and town

Octant - A tour guide specifically about the sun's town

Libra - A constellation that serves as balance, the people in this role balance certain things, specifically the peace in the skies

Virgo - Since it's about a virgin, the goddess of justice, basically the people who lead the Canis Major and Canis Minor to serve the right justice

Canis Major - A higher ranked hunter, basically hunts threats and protects the important relics which are the planets, mostly handling bigger asteroids

Canis Minor - A lower ranked hunter, handles smaller threats like small debris, and makes sure that nobody causes chaos and trouble in the town

Sextans - A constellation that measures the star positions, people in this role is the one that assigns the roles to the stars who think they deserve it

Scutum - A constellation that shows that the person is a knight, each has a different design for each god (will make these designs soon)

Sagitta - A constellation that shows that the person is an archer, each has a different design for each god (will make these designs soon)

Comets - butlers and people who serve the sun, trusted people of the sun

The 3 seas of the moon - butlers and people who serve the moon, trusted people of the moon

Space gems - butlers and people who serve the eclipse, trusted people of the eclipse (STEVEN UNIVERSE STYLES)

Roles that are just in certain people:

Gemini - For twins ocs or siblings who have such a great bond that they can almost be called twins

Dolphin (A messenger of Poseidon) - For people who deliver news about something, or a mailman

Lyra (Lyre) - For bards or people who are talented in music related hobbies

What’s that all mean? It’s a bunch of people who think that going out on the ocean in a speed boat without engines, with the very real possibility of drowning, is fun. OH! And the winning boats that year were Frolic, Tranquil, and North Star IV. This week, learn the difference between Port and Starboard.

Libra

Oh, you’re gunna love this one, Libra. Your term is “Angel Dusting”. It’s a marketing ploy to add some special ingredient to a product in hardly detectable measure, just so that it can be said to be in the product in order to hype the promotion of the main product. So you could SAY that some product with health benefits is included in the product, but not say that there’s not enough to actually cause the health benefit. This week… someone is going to offer you a job in advertising. Don’t Sell Your Soul!

Scorpio

For you, time to learn a little about Walter Netsch. He was an architect closely associated with the “brutalist” style of architecture, working with the firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. And that’s where we’re going to jump tracks and ask, “Who is this ‘Skidmore’ fellow?” Louis Skidmore, of the Indianna ‘Skidmores’, was a WWI Army Sergeant, married Eloise Owings… because of COURSE her name was “Eloise”... who was the sister of Nathaniel A. Owings, who would be two of the three that started the firm. This week don’t be afraid to look into weird nepotism connections and old names.

Sagittarius

You’re getting “Metsepole” (“MEHT-seh-poal”); an ancient Livonian county inhabited by the Finnic Livonians, on the east coast of the Gulf of Riga, at the northwest of what is now the Vidzeme region of Latvia. Metsepole was bordered by the ancient Estonian Sakala County to the north, Latgalian Tālava to the east and Livonian county of Turaida to the south. Now, Sagittarius? Did we just make up all that from some obscure 1980 Sci-Fi failed TV Pilot or is that real? There’s only one way to know…. Go read!

Capricorn

You get “Bruce Wayne”... who is totally NOT Batman. We know that because one time Batman and Bruce Wayne appeared near the same place at the same time, as observed by Commissioner Gorden. Batman stayed on the other side of the street because he had a cold and didn’t want to spread it. Isn’t that Alfred such a– I MEAN BATMAN! He’s a great guy! This week buy some Fisherman’s Friend!

Aquarius

For you we have the film “The Search for Animal Chin” - a 1987 skateboarding film featuring the Bones Brigade. It’s one of the first skateboarding films to have a plot, rather than simply a collection of skateboarding stunts and music videos. The Bones Brigade embark on a quest to find the first skateboarder, the mythological Won Ton "Animal" Chin who had gone missing. Their journey takes them to different locations including Hawaii, California, Nevada, and Mexico where they meet friends and skate different spots along the way. They never find the actual Animal Chin, but come to realize that in their search they discover the true meaning of their journey, the pure fun of skateboarding. This week… Just watch “Kung-Fu Panda” again.

Pisces

In typical fashion, you get some Geek Science stuff - the Progress M1-5, a spacecraft which was launched by Russia in 2001 to deorbit the fifteen-year-old Mir space station in a controlled fashion, far away from shipping lanes. Were it not for this module, Mir's orbit would have decayed uncontrolled over time (like Skylab), with debris potentially landing in a populated area. So this was a sacrificial spacecraft whose only job was to commit suicide and bring Mir down with itself. This week… get up super early and take a hot air balloon ride. It’s really pretty!

I have decided to post about my fantrolls. Here they are again for reference.

This post will be about their names. No one has asked but maybe by getting to know these guys you will come up with questions, which is ideal.

Parima Mydaer is the first one I named. I got "Parima" from "prima", like "prima ballerina" because she dances. "Mydaer" is a spelling corruption of "midair", because she's also an acrobat. I pronounce her name "par-EE-ma mai-DARE".

Vaisak's name came next, I was in an astronomy class and experiencing that thing where like I can pay attention but I do also want to connect everything to my special interests, for fun. I saw "Aldebaran", a star in Taurus, and was like "hee hoo troll names". Actually both her names are otherwise-unchanged truncations of names. Vaisakha Aldebaran. Vaisakha being one of the lunar months in the Hindu calendar. (Go look at the solar ones, it's pretty fun from a Homestuck's perspective. Like, oh you're lining them up with correlated zodiac signs? Oh I wonder which sign Mithuna ha--it's gemini.) Anyway. I pronounce her name "VAI-sak ALL-de-ba".

Veelah Oscura is pretty easy to explain. After the Aldebaran thing I just started cruising Wikipedia for astronomy things I could name my OCs after. Being a seadweller I wanted something water related for her and I picked the constellation Vela, the sails. And she's a void player, so her last name means dark. Water dark. Coincidentally, that would be her typing if she were a Pokémon. I'm sure there's no ambiguity that her name is pronounced "VEE-la oh-SCU-ra".

There is, however, a bit of freedom in Zefire's name. It's just a spelling corruption of the word "zephyr", referencing her aspect. I pronounce it "ZEF-eer", but you could say "ze-fire" like fire or "zephyr" ("zeffer") or maybe even "ZEF-ur-ee" if you really wanted? And Kaetos comes from Cetus. That's probably not her denizen, but it is a whale constellation, and, again. Seadweller. So, "ZEF-eer KAY-tose". Or ze-FIRE, or ZEF-ur, or ZEF-ur-ee if you're strange.

Finally this takes us to Atlasp. His name is easy to explain too. You see, their designs came before their names, and I wanted his eyes to be orange and blue as a reference to Portal, one of my other hyperfixations from before I got into Homestuck. (Actually, it was some fellow Portal fans that convinced me to read HS.) So, "Atlasp" comes from Atlas and P-body, the co-op robots from Portal 2. Nothing deeper than that. Just a silly videos games reference. Then Kiiaro is a spelling corruption of "chiaro", Italian for light. Referencing his aspect. Together with Veelah's last name, "chiaro oscura", light and dark, or "chiaroscuro" which refers to strong light and shadow in painting. These guys' names owe a lot to my college education, I learned about chiaroscuro in art history class.

That's it. The hypothetical sixth character has no name yet. If he gets to exist he will be a boy, a rust blood, and a Derse dreamer, and I have a typing quirk picked out for him. But his appearance, name, classpect, trolltag, and role have yet to be determined.

little tidbits

he gave himself his middle name. leo likes space and space media. he felt naming himself after jim kirk would be a cool move.

he has vitiligo around his eyes in the same pattern red-eared slider turtles do. would be in the same place the red is here.

he is gay !! but he doesn’t know it yet ... it’s a little self discovery journey he’ll have here in elias.

he doesn’t know when his actual birthday is. splinter just assigned them random days.

he does have medical trauma from his days of being experimented on. he just blocks it out really well. the fact that he’s the medic of the gang is ironic. he can help others with ease but the moment someone tries to help him in that sense or he’s taken to a doctors office he freaks out.

the turtle transformation is painful so now leo will only transform if he absolutely has to ... or if he needs to win a dance competition or something because he’ll do whatever it takes to win.

he loves glam rock. if he could have background music when he fights rock you like a hurricane would be playing thank you !!

PRESENT !!

leo has found himself in elias after shredder took their father and destroyed their home. he blames himself for all that had happened. leo had been leader for quite some time now. however, he allowed his arrogance to get the better of him. he put himself and his brothers into a lull of false security because it had been smooth sailing up until now. shit has hit the fan and leo is scrambling to figure out what to do.

he knows that while they may brothers they are not a team. if they’re to save their father and defeat shredder the four of them need to work as a team.

leo’s about to get the character development beaten into him.

this is the first time he’s left new york and been around humans for a long period of time. there’s much for leo to discover about the world and about himself. while he figures out being a leader he might as well enjoy himself right ?

PAST !!

TW: leo’s bio mentions child experimentation.

leo doesn’t remember life before splinter. he jokes that his mind blocked out all the experimentation he had endured as a child but it was true. the trauma of it all was too much so even if he wanted to know it was better off he didn’t.

being the second oldest of four boys, leo was the mostly the comic relief of his brothers. anytime serious emotions were felt he immediately replaced them with jokes. it was easier to joke around than face whatever was brewing under the surface for him because if he faced it, it made it real.

leo was irresponsible. he had so much talent but never applied it. sure he was great when it came to training but everything came naturally to him.

he didn’t have the responsibility or worries that raph did which left him to be lazy and arrogant. leo knew he was great and didn’t waste a moment to let anyone know.

leo felt the most at home in the hidden yokai city. being human felt like a second skin to him. it wasn’t who he really was. leo had accepted long ago he wasn’t destined to be normal but he did so for his brothers sake.

personally, his life was great until splinter designated him leader. he didn’t know why. sure, he joked he should be leader sometimes since he was the face of the group but he never had actually thought about taking on the roll. it was raph’s position. he was the oldest but who was he to tell their father no ? he did know best.

so, leo took over the leader position after raphael confirmed there would be no hard feelings. it wasn’t an easy transition. leo feels he knows best. he listens to himself before he listens to his brothers. it was a learning curve for him to just shut up and listen to others.

while he had his ego, leo still cared deeply about his brothers. he wanted them to be the best they could be. in their own individuals interests but also as a team because the idea of losing them was a thought he refused to think about. he was nothing without his brothers. being so young, fighting the foot clan and trying to stay alive was a lot. leo began to understand why raph was so tired. at the end of the day they were still kids trying to be heroes. the weight of the world was on their shoulders and more importantly it was on leo’s now.

the balance of being leader and brother was a tightrope leo struggled walking along. he thought he was doing good until raph lost it, shredder found them, attacked and took their father. leo realized then that he was failing at both.
