As you lifted the cigarette to your lips, the wisps of smoke dancing in the frosty air, a voice broke through the quiet of the night.
"I thought you said you quit?" The voice, unmistakably Captain Levi's, cut through the stillness, drawing your attention.
You turned slightly, catching his approach from the corner of your eye. "Hey, I tried, okay? Besides, might as well enjoy life while it lasts."
Silence enveloped the space between you, punctuated only by the chilly breeze that swept through. The moon cast a soft glow, illuminating the scene before you.
"You thought it was me... Didn't you?" Your question hung in the air, the weight of it palpable as you met Levi's gaze for a fleeting moment before taking another drag of your cigar.
Levi's response was measured, his words carefully chosen. "I suspected everyone."
Your lips formed a tight line, disappointment mingling with resignation. "Well, that wasn't actually my question, Captain Levi. I asked if you thought that the Female Titan was me."
There was a pause, mind filled with unspoken thoughts and emotions.
"Forget I asked. Have a goodnight, Captain Levi" you muttered, discarding the cigar and crushing it beneath your boot. You turned to leave, but Levi's voice stopped you in your tracks.
"I did suspect it was you at first, Y/n. I had my reasons. But now that we know who it is... I'm sor—"
"Don't apologize," you interjected, your tone firm yet tinged with a hint of sadness.
Levi's gaze faltered, unable to meet yours as you turned away. Tilting your head back, you found solace in the glow of the moon above, its luminescence a stark contrast to the turmoil within.
"... Don't worry, Captain. I assure you I won't be a threat to your beloved humanity," you murmured, a flicker of defiance in your voice.
"I was scared, L/n," Levi confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.
You spun around, eyes widening in disbelief at his admission. "Scared? Of What?"
"That if I was right, that it would be you," Levi continued, the weight of his guilt evident in his words. "That of all people it would be you.
Your brows furrowed, confusion and disbelief warring within you. "And why is that? "
"Because I've grown fond of you, more that I thought I would."
His stoic demeanor softened slightly as he confessed, a rare vulnerability flickering in his eyes. His usually impassive face betrayed a hint of uncertainty, his gaze seeking reassurance from her as he laid bare his feelings.
She felt her composed facade falter for a moment, a subtle blush gracing her cheeks as Levi's confession caught her off guard. Despite her disciplined exterior, her eyes betrayed a hint of flattered surprise, mirroring Levi's vulnerability with a flicker of understanding.

Warning: the first photo of the five below shows a dead body. If you do not want to see it, either scroll past it quickly or skip this post.
Tumblr media
On April 8, 1947, investigators finally found the body of Langley Collyer in his house on Fifth Avenue and 128th St. in Harlem. He had lived there for decades with his brother Homer, whose body had been found some two weeks earlier. Homer had apparently died of starvation. Because the ground floor was completely filled with 50 tons of debris, policemen had to enter through the upper floors. It took them several days to clear the ground floor.
Tumblr media
The four-story building was crammed to the rafters with sewing machines, the body of a Model T, weapons, baby carriages, busts, mangled Christmas trees, thousands of books, 14 pianos, an organ, newspapers packed in boxes, and other items. The total came to 120 tons.
Tumblr media
The brothers had lived there since 1909, when Langley, a lawyer, was 28. After the death of their mother 20 years later, they lived there alone. They were notorious for their extreme thrift—Homer walked to work on paper-thin soles to save money for the subway, they canceled their phone service in 1917 and, after disputes with utility companies in 1927, they went without water or electricity.
Tumblr media
Some time in the early 1930s, they stopped working and became recluses. Langley left the house only at night, leading neighbors to call him "Ghost." Homer went blind and also suffered from severe rheumatism. The two became paranoid, convinced that thieves were out to get them, and installed traps all over the house. It is thought that Langley fell into one of his own traps.
Tumblr media
Because the brothers had no heirs, their property passed to the state. The city had the brownstone demolished.
Over the years the Collyer story has inspired films, plays, and books. There have been off-Broadway stage productions such as Mark Saltzman's Clutter and Richard Greenberg's The Dazzle, a nonfiction book, Ghosty Men, by journalist Franz Lidz, Richard Finkelstein's series of drawings of the Collyer house, a Glasgow musical called "Tunnel Visions," which set the brothers' story to a music and light show, and, in 2009, the novel Homer and Langley by E.L. Doctorow.
All photos from the AP via Der Spiegel. Anthony Camerano took all but the top, which was taken by Jacob Harris, and the bottom, which was the work of Harry Harris.

Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful!!! Well, after talking about figs yesterday, what do we do about figs that don't get eaten and have become past their prime? Well, we could just leave them there but that would get unsanitary. What we need to do is put them inside something where all the disgusting and discarded objects in one's home can go so they can be transported to an even larger place where all the disgusting and discarded objects in everyone's’ home can go. That's right, I'm talking about a trash can or bin or dumpster or whatever you call it! Expired food? Throw them in! Used napkins? Throw them in! Obliterated game consoles? Throw them in! Direct to DVD animated movies? Throw them in with certain exceptions! Trash-tier anime waifus? THROW THEM IN! That's right! If you don't want something anymore, just chuck it in the bin and forget about till Monday! Waste not, want not but if we are going to waste, it's nice to know that there is a plastic and/or metal canister where all the waste can disappear to for a brief time then disappear forever! Just remember to not put anything living in there. Life is precious, don't waste it! That would be messed up. So yeah, trash cans are wonderful...and smelly.
