The camera is really failing to capture the beautiful mahogany color of the finished mask. It also has a more subtle sheen in person. The inside has been left mostly raw for comfort.

If you haven’t been following along, this mask was designed and crafted by me entirely by hand. I’m so stinking pleased with how it turned out, and I’m super hyped to do this again.

Ears! I tried to use the ball joints from a phone stand to get poseability but they poked up behind the sculpts raised bits too much, so back to plain galvanised wire. I’m so happy how the paint work came out on them too.

WiP - Crown Clown - Part 2

I already can tell this cosplay is giving me a headache and the frustration level is reached already, but well... at least I have time to finish it.

I continued with the next idea of having a better curve for the mask and made pattern for the glove. I never made gloves this way, it will be a lot of try and error... I am glad I only need one.

Just to show you I am sometimes not getting things right... I noticed later on that I glued in parts wrong and that's why the second try came out SUPER WEIRD.

I corrected it but decided to tweak my original attempt a bit and then continue to "prime" it with Foam Clay. That needed to dry. Another material I never have used in before and the wobbly material didn't make it easier to apply. That the clay needs at least 24hrs to dry left me with like... being stuck here. I decided to move to the gloves.

I decided to do a test glove not to ruin the good fabric I bought. I noticed the thumb is too big and in the progress I got more and more anxious about the whole thing and I can tell I start making weird mistakes, I just wanted to know if the pattern is something I can build on or if it's completely for the bin at this point.

Well... fingers are too short, it fits if you cut off the tips. Ignore the seams as said I stopped caring in the progress. I just put it aside for the time being.

This is the foam clay after drying, I need to sand it. i have to say this is not what I came to that morning as it had bend into the complete other direction and I had to reshape it with heat... at this point I just was done and postponed the whole project to another day. I didn't take a before photo as I just went to reshape it without thinking about it (still in my pjs x_x).
